- 0:22Speaker 1: Welcome to Eagles Post Game Analysis here at the Philadelphia
- 0:24Speaker 1: Sports Table Podcast Show, the longest running weekly Philly sports
- 0:27Speaker 1: podcast show in the world.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Over 13 and a half years strong, the.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Philadelphia Eagles are now 2-0 on the season as they
- 0:36Speaker 1: beat the Tennessee Titans down in Tennessee by a score
- 0:39Speaker 1: of 24-20. We were on the edge of our seats
- 0:42Speaker 1: with this particular one.
- 0:43Speaker 2: My goodness.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Again, Eagles are 2-0 on the season, amazingly enough, as
- 0:48Speaker 1: we're going to be discussing what happened during this game.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Joining us this week, filling in for the guys, we've
- 0:54Speaker 1: got our good friend from PhiladelphiaSoccerNow.com. Always been a good
- 0:58Speaker 1: friend of the pod, always jumping on these Eagles postgame
- 1:00Speaker 1: shows when we ask them to. Very much appreciate it,
- 1:03Speaker 1: our friend Josh Huster. My friend, thanks so much for
- 1:05Speaker 1: jumping on here.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Anytime, Jeff. It's been a wild, like... 12 to 24
- 1:11Speaker 3: hours in Philly sports. The union had a miracle comeback
- 1:14Speaker 3: last night and the Eagles said, hold my beer. Yeah.
- 1:19Speaker 3: We're going to one up you. So it's been a pretty.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Wild, exactly. Very wild. Let's go through some injuries really
- 1:25Speaker 1: quick in this game. Saquon Barkley injured on the very
- 1:28Speaker 1: first play of the game. Um, it was at a
- 1:32Speaker 1: point where he didn't get back until the second half
- 1:35Speaker 1: and the second quarter he was with trainers and doctors
- 1:37Speaker 1: on the sideline, just testing his Left arm and shoulder,
- 1:40Speaker 1: you know, flexing his left hand. Not 100% sure what
- 1:43Speaker 1: was going on there. But when he did get back
- 1:45Speaker 1: into the game, not very effective, to be honest with you.
- 1:49Speaker 1: And then you have Dallas Goddard, who went out in
- 1:50Speaker 1: the second quarter after run blocking, came up with a
- 1:54Speaker 1: knee injury.
- 1:54Speaker 2: He did not return.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Johnny Munt was then that number one tight end, filling
- 1:59Speaker 1: in for Dallas Goddard. So I'll say this. First and
- 2:03Speaker 1: foremost here, it sounded like an Eagles home game. Down
- 2:07Speaker 1: in Tennessee, which was awesome. But quick stat, 15-2, the Eagles.
- 2:14Speaker 1: 15-2 against AFC South teams since 2010. But those two
- 2:18Speaker 1: losses actually came at the hands of the Tennessee Titans
- 2:21Speaker 1: and had not beat the Tennessee Titans down in Tennessee.
- 2:25Speaker 1: They finally break that streak. And look, it was rough.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Let's start with the offense. We'll do some offensive themes here, okay, Josh?
- 2:32Speaker 1: Cam Juergen sliding over to the left guard spot. Drew
- 2:35Speaker 1: Kendall playing center. It was rough for the Eagles offensive line,
- 2:40Speaker 1: for sure. But at the end of the day, Jalen
- 2:43Speaker 1: Hurts had his 15th winning, I'm sorry, his 15th game
- 2:47Speaker 1: winning drive of his career and a touchdown pass to
- 2:51Speaker 1: Darius Cooper with 14 seconds left in the game. Hurts
- 2:54Speaker 1: went six of eight for 61 yards on that game
- 2:57Speaker 1: winning drive. Hurts also had two key interceptions in this
- 3:00Speaker 1: game as well. Very up and down for him. I
- 3:04Speaker 1: just wanted to throw that out there right off the
- 3:06Speaker 1: bat here, but let's get into some themes. I'm going
- 3:09Speaker 1: to let you start off, buddy. What was one of
- 3:11Speaker 1: your big themes of this game?
- 3:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I had kind of mentioned it just before we
- 3:17Speaker 3: hopped on to record here. I think for me, the
- 3:20Speaker 3: main takeaway is.
- 3:23Speaker 3: This game shows you exactly the difference between an organization
- 3:27Speaker 3: that knows how to win and one that has no
- 3:29Speaker 3: idea how to win. Um, you look at that last series, um, where, uh,
- 3:36Speaker 3: Tennessee settled for the field goal. Yeah. I have no
- 3:39Speaker 3: idea what they were doing on their last three plays.
- 3:41Speaker 3: The guy I get trying to, to run out the clock, um,
- 3:45Speaker 3: I guess, um, Even still, the Eagles were down to
- 3:49Speaker 3: just having one timeout. I mean, you're either going to
- 3:51Speaker 3: get the two-minute warning or the one timeout. I don't
- 3:54Speaker 3: understand why at the 15-yard line you are just running
- 3:59Speaker 3: the ball, and that's all you're doing. You're not even
- 4:02Speaker 3: trying the screen pass, which is another thing that we
- 4:04Speaker 3: can get into.
- 4:05Speaker 2: We'll get into that.
- 4:06Speaker 3: Time because every other organization seems to know how to
- 4:08Speaker 3: do this, but you're not, you're not even trying to
- 4:11Speaker 3: like put the ball anywhere near the end zone. Like I,
- 4:15Speaker 3: I just, I don't understand that at all. And their
- 4:17Speaker 3: prevent defense. I don't know that I've ever seen a
- 4:21Speaker 3: prevent defense that doesn't prevent you from utilizing the sides
- 4:28Speaker 3: of the field, the sidelines when, when they have no
- 4:31Speaker 3: timeouts left and it's after the two minutes, like nothing
- 4:35Speaker 3: about their series at the end made any sense. And
- 4:39Speaker 3: why didn't they throw a Hail Mary at the end
- 4:41Speaker 3: of the, like, there's just so many things that I
- 4:44Speaker 3: just don't understand what Tennessee did, but you have the
- 4:48Speaker 3: Eagles on the other hand, They utilized the middle of
- 4:53Speaker 3: the field because they knew they were going to get it.
- 4:55Speaker 3: And then I don't know that there's a better wide
- 4:58Speaker 3: receiver in the NFL than Devontae Smith on the sideline.
- 5:03Speaker 3: I have no idea how he gets his feet. It's miracles.
- 5:06Speaker 1: And then those tiptoe catches. Nobody in the league does
- 5:11Speaker 1: it better than him. I will argue with anybody. Nobody
- 5:13Speaker 1: does it better.
- 5:14Speaker 3: Right, and for Cooper to get that wide open in
- 5:18Speaker 3: the end zone, and he did a great job of
- 5:20Speaker 3: keeping his feet. I've really come to like him as
- 5:22Speaker 3: a player. I know he's not a big name, right?
- 5:25Speaker 3: He blocks very well. He seems to get open, and
- 5:28Speaker 3: when you throw the ball to him, he actually catches
- 5:30Speaker 3: the ball, which is also a really nice feature in
- 5:33Speaker 3: a wide receiver. And he never complains about how many yards.
- 5:36Speaker 3: He's just happy to be on the team. And so
- 5:40Speaker 3: my biggest takeaway was just... there is a difference between
- 5:44Speaker 3: these two organizations. I know that generally you can't attribute
- 5:49Speaker 3: wins to quarterback statistics, but I don't, I think we're
- 5:53Speaker 3: at the point that you cannot deny that there is
- 5:56Speaker 3: just something with Jalen hurts and winning. I, I, cause
- 6:00Speaker 3: I don't know how he does it. It's like all
- 6:02Speaker 3: of a sudden his processing in clutch moments and in
- 6:05Speaker 3: the biggest games is can be different than the entire
- 6:09Speaker 3: rest of the season in a good way. It's amazing.
- 6:13Speaker 3: It's the opposite of Dak Prescott. Very true.
- 6:16Speaker 1: It's a great theme to start us off because, again,
- 6:20Speaker 1: it was a very up and down game for Jalen Hurts.
- 6:24Speaker 1: I mean, he ended with a rating of 85.9%. He
- 6:28Speaker 1: went 26 of 37, 264 yards, averaging 7.1 yards per attempt.
- 6:34Speaker 1: That's not bad. But yes, two interceptions, two touchdowns. He
- 6:39Speaker 1: was sacked three times. But again, very up and down.
- 6:43Speaker 1: But at the end of the day, so very clutch.
- 6:45Speaker 1: And he started out, and this is my initial theme
- 6:48Speaker 1: that I really want to get into here, Josh. The
- 6:51Speaker 1: Eagles looked really good passing in the first half.
- 6:54Speaker 2: But they did not look as good running the ball.
- 6:57Speaker 1: And then they came out running in the second half,
- 7:01Speaker 1: the first drive of the third quarter, and they got
- 7:04Speaker 1: knocked backwards. Three plays for negative 13 yards right out
- 7:09Speaker 1: of the gate in the second half. And then they
- 7:10Speaker 1: had to punt it. And then Jalen Hurts, of course,
- 7:12Speaker 1: we know he said it again. He has two interceptions
- 7:16Speaker 1: in this game. The second one was definitely not a
- 7:19Speaker 1: great throw by him. But the problem here is, okay,
- 7:23Speaker 1: and it goes to the theme, too, of you talking
- 7:25Speaker 1: about Jalen Hurts just being that baller, being that winner.
- 7:30Speaker 1: The theme is that they're relying on the quarterback to
- 7:34Speaker 1: bail out an offense where it is constantly third and
- 7:38Speaker 1: long all game. They are not helping out their quarterback here.
- 7:43Speaker 1: They're not helping him at all. And the fact of
- 7:46Speaker 1: the matter is, when it came to this Eagles offense today,
- 7:50Speaker 1: and we even saw it last week during the Commanders
- 7:52Speaker 1: in the opening game of the season, you just have
- 7:55Speaker 1: to do a better job on early downs. There were
- 7:57Speaker 1: way too many third and longs. And yes, Jalen Hurts
- 8:01Speaker 1: converted a lot of those third and longs, especially in
- 8:03Speaker 1: the first half, as I had mentioned, passing the ball very,
- 8:06Speaker 1: very well. But in the middle of the fourth quarter, Josh,
- 8:09Speaker 1: the Eagles average yard to gain on third down was
- 8:13Speaker 1: seven point nine seven yards. Totally unacceptable. Totally unacceptable. So
- 8:19Speaker 1: what the hell is happening with this Eagles offense? On
- 8:22Speaker 1: the first few downs, early downs, that is putting them
- 8:24Speaker 1: in a position where they need their quarterback in Jalen
- 8:28Speaker 1: Hurts to bail them out.
- 8:30Speaker 2: A huge theme of the game for me.
- 8:33Speaker 3: Right. And I think, you know, I kind of have
- 8:35Speaker 3: two separate thoughts. I think interceptions are one of my
- 8:38Speaker 3: least favorite stats in the world because I think that
- 8:41Speaker 3: there are things that are bad interceptions. And I don't
- 8:46Speaker 3: want to say good interceptions, but interceptions that have other factors.
- 8:49Speaker 3: So I think... Hertz had one of each today. So
- 8:53Speaker 3: I'll use these as an example. His first one was
- 8:55Speaker 3: a bad one. He threw into double coverage. It was
- 8:59Speaker 3: in the end zone and they're in the red zone.
- 9:02Speaker 3: That's a bad interception. The second one, he got hit
- 9:06Speaker 3: as he threw. And you could see the wide receiver
- 9:09Speaker 3: open on the sideline. I get it.
- 9:11Speaker 2: His defender fell down. His defender fell down too.
- 9:14Speaker 3: Right. Right. And so that was one of those things.
- 9:17Speaker 3: He got hit. So the ball probably was a little
- 9:19Speaker 3: more elevated, which gave just enough time in the NFL
- 9:22Speaker 3: for it to get picked off.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Yep.
- 9:24Speaker 3: Yep. I don't that's why I don't really pay attention
- 9:27Speaker 3: to Holmes or Allen's interceptions, because a lot of times
- 9:30Speaker 3: they're chucking the ball down the field on third and long.
- 9:32Speaker 3: It's basically the equivalent of a punt. Who cares? Right.
- 9:36Speaker 3: It's not a dumb interception or a bad interception. So
- 9:39Speaker 3: I feel like the rating that Hertz had today was
- 9:42Speaker 3: relatively fair because for a lot of the game, the
- 9:45Speaker 3: main thing that I saw, maybe, you know, I'll get
- 9:48Speaker 3: into that when we get into quarterback rates with your theme.
- 9:52Speaker 3: I think one of the big themes I have is
- 9:57Speaker 3: an increased concern about where the two largest investments are
- 10:02Speaker 3: in the Eagles.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Okay.
- 10:03Speaker 3: The defensive line.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:05Speaker 3: And the offensive line.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:07Speaker 3: The, the offensive line is just straight offensive. Um, it
- 10:12Speaker 3: is bad.
- 10:12Speaker 2: They played like doo doo butter today. Yep.
- 10:14Speaker 3: Yeah. It is bad. And I don't see with Stoutland.
- 10:19Speaker 3: I could at least see a way where he would
- 10:21Speaker 3: make an adjustment that I don't think is going to
- 10:24Speaker 3: happen anymore. So I'm wondering if this is the state
- 10:29Speaker 3: of the offensive line. for the rest of this year
- 10:33Speaker 3: and maybe moving forward. And if that's the case, you
- 10:35Speaker 3: have to bring Jalen hurts back. You have to extend
- 10:37Speaker 3: him because he's the only one who's going to be
- 10:39Speaker 3: able to get you out of these situations. You cannot
- 10:41Speaker 3: have a pocket passer with this offensive line. You just can't.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:45Speaker 3: The defensive line. Like I, I know you have a
- 10:49Speaker 3: Jalen Carter Jersey and that's cool. And, and your wife
- 10:53Speaker 3: got it for you. And that's awesome. I need, if,
- 10:57Speaker 3: if you're getting paid big money, And I, I have
- 11:00Speaker 3: this philosophy and I'm consistent with it, Jeff, all the
- 11:02Speaker 3: time that I've been on here. If you're on a
- 11:05Speaker 3: rookie deal, I give you more leeway because you aren't
- 11:08Speaker 3: a large percentage of the cap. Yeah. And I look
- 11:10Speaker 3: at a player based off of the cap. And to me,
- 11:13Speaker 3: Jalen Carter, it should be, you should show up before
- 11:17Speaker 3: the fourth quarter. I'm, I'm, I'm sorry. Like there were
- 11:20Speaker 3: gaping holes where they are averaging nine yards of carry
- 11:24Speaker 3: at points.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:25Speaker 3: Where, where are you? Same thing with Jordan Davis. Yeah. Yeah.
- 11:29Speaker 3: So I those that's the other kind of building off
- 11:33Speaker 3: of your storyline. That's my other big one. We have
- 11:36Speaker 3: very real concerns. I know it's only week two. but
- 11:39Speaker 3: I don't really see a path in which this gets
- 11:42Speaker 3: better on either. It's not like they're waiting for people
- 11:45Speaker 3: to come back from injury or different things like that.
- 11:48Speaker 3: It's just not a good situation.
- 11:50Speaker 1: No, not a good situation here in week two. Yes,
- 11:53Speaker 1: the offense is growing, quote, growing from what we are hearing.
- 11:58Speaker 1: This defensive line, these guys have been together now for
- 12:00Speaker 1: a while here. Things need to start gelling, and again,
- 12:03Speaker 1: It is early this season, but we are going to
- 12:05Speaker 1: take a quick break. When we get back, we're still
- 12:07Speaker 1: going to discuss some of these themes. There's one in
- 12:10Speaker 1: particular with the offense I think that Josh and I
- 12:12Speaker 1: are going to get into, and I think Eagles Nation
- 12:14Speaker 1: as well is getting really, really tired of.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Stick with us. We're going to be back in just
- 12:19Speaker 2: a bit.
- 12:22Speaker 1: All right, we're back with our Eagles postgame show where
- 12:26Speaker 1: they beat the Tennessee Titans by a score of 24-20
- 12:30Speaker 1: down in Tennessee. As we are continuing with our themes here, Josh,
- 12:35Speaker 1: something that you and I were actually texting each other about,
- 12:37Speaker 1: and you see it constantly if you're on the Twitter
- 12:40Speaker 1: slash X, Eagles Nation is so completely over this at
- 12:44Speaker 1: this point, this particular theme, and it is the fact
- 12:48Speaker 1: that the Eagles just have an inability to run screens
- 12:51Speaker 1: on offense. It never ceases to amaze me. how the
- 12:56Speaker 1: talent on this team and, and these screens are predictable too,
- 13:00Speaker 1: especially when it comes to the Mackay lemon screams at screens,
- 13:04Speaker 1: it makes me scream.
- 13:04Speaker 2: Oh my gosh. The predictability of it is astonishing, man.
- 13:11Speaker 1: It's, it's a theme that Eagles nation, we've been talking
- 13:14Speaker 1: about it for a while, but in this new Sean
- 13:16Speaker 1: Mannion offense, the problem still persists.
- 13:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:20Speaker 3: And the problem with this offense is, and I, I
- 13:25Speaker 3: even as a guy who likes Jalen Hurts, I grow
- 13:27Speaker 3: tired of hearing about he has a different OC every year.
- 13:30Speaker 3: It's different offense every year. Yeah, yeah, I know. It
- 13:32Speaker 3: has been it has been a Nick Sirianni esque offense
- 13:36Speaker 3: every year because you can't complain that the offense looks
- 13:39Speaker 3: same year after year after year and then complain that
- 13:42Speaker 3: there's a new OC year after year after year. It doesn't.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Right.
- 13:45Speaker 3: This is, in fact, a different offense. There's far more motion. Yes,
- 13:49Speaker 3: there's far more use of the middle of the field.
- 13:52Speaker 3: Like this, I will say, is a different offense. Yes.
- 13:55Speaker 3: I'm not saying that about the other years. The biggest
- 14:00Speaker 3: problem is there's supposed to be a trifold balance with
- 14:04Speaker 3: this scheme. You're supposed to be able to do the
- 14:07Speaker 3: deep ball, which I think Jalen Hurts has become very,
- 14:10Speaker 3: very good at. You're supposed to utilize the middle of
- 14:12Speaker 3: the field. And then you're supposed to utilize the screen
- 14:15Speaker 3: game with a twofold purpose in terms of it counting
- 14:19Speaker 3: as a run play, but also kind of stretching everyone out.
- 14:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:23Speaker 3: Yep. I don't understand how every year I watch any
- 14:29Speaker 3: other random NFL game and go, oh, screen passes do work. Yeah.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Wow.
- 14:37Speaker 3: Look at that. And this ties in with what you
- 14:39Speaker 3: were saying about them getting behind the sticks so often.
- 14:42Speaker 3: They keep doing these plays that don't work over and
- 14:46Speaker 3: over and over again. Yep. It's crazy. Yes, it's crazy.
- 14:52Speaker 3: It is. It's the definition of insanity. It is. They're
- 14:54Speaker 3: coaching from the premise of insanity. They're doing the same
- 14:57Speaker 3: thing over and over again. And they think that magically
- 14:59Speaker 3: it's going to work. It's not going to work. Anyway,
- 15:01Speaker 3: I digress.
- 15:02Speaker 1: It's okay to digress because what you're talking about is
- 15:06Speaker 1: what we are talking about during these themes here is
- 15:09Speaker 1: consistency in certain areas of this offense and inconsistency in
- 15:14Speaker 1: other areas of this offense.
- 15:16Speaker 2: I mean, case in point, let's talk consistency here.
- 15:18Speaker 1: It was said on the broadcast that this was the
- 15:20Speaker 1: first time this century that the Eagles' first three drives
- 15:25Speaker 1: of the game were 10-plus play drives. That's pretty incredible.
- 15:29Speaker 1: That is amazing consistency. But then for whatever reason, they
- 15:33Speaker 1: decide to get away from what is working. They decide, okay,
- 15:36Speaker 1: we want to get cute. They decide that they want
- 15:38Speaker 1: to maybe shake things up a little bit in terms
- 15:41Speaker 1: of the screen game here.
- 15:42Speaker 2: Are you kidding?
- 15:45Speaker 1: And then the inconsistency just comes right into that formula.
- 15:49Speaker 1: And then we get frustrated and my face gets red.
- 15:53Speaker 1: So as a result, we have games where we are
- 15:56Speaker 1: on the edge of our seat because there is third
- 15:59Speaker 1: and long consistently throughout the game and specifically the second half.
- 16:04Speaker 1: And then an inconsistency with the screen game where they're
- 16:07Speaker 1: trying to get cute. And look, I don't know if
- 16:10Speaker 1: you have any more themes for the offense. I definitely
- 16:13Speaker 1: want to touch on some defensive themes as well here.
- 16:16Speaker 1: But look, it's an inconsistent offense right here at this point.
- 16:20Speaker 1: But at the end of the day, I think it's
- 16:21Speaker 1: safe to say, thank goodness for Jalen Hurts.
- 16:25Speaker 3: I think as we transition to defensive themes, cause my
- 16:28Speaker 3: main theme, I'm going to tackle on defense pun intended.
- 16:33Speaker 3: I dropped a hint. Can we, can we stop criticizing
- 16:38Speaker 3: the defense for giving up less than 21 points, but
- 16:41Speaker 3: talking about how bad the offense is when they score 24,
- 16:43Speaker 3: like it doesn't, We can't operate both ways. It's interesting.
- 16:48Speaker 3: NFL in 2026 is very different. It was the highest ever,
- 16:51Speaker 3: I believe, scoring week one last week. Like, yeah, just
- 16:54Speaker 3: because the Eagles give up 20 points doesn't mean that
- 16:58Speaker 3: they have a bad defense. In fact, in 2026, that's
- 17:00Speaker 3: pretty good.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:02Speaker 3: So we can't can we just kind of like pick
- 17:05Speaker 3: a side? OK, either the Eagles offense isn't that bad. Right.
- 17:09Speaker 3: Or the Eagles defense is good and their offense may
- 17:14Speaker 3: be struggling. Yeah. Pick a side.
- 17:16Speaker 2: There you go. OK, sounds good.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Why don't you start off with the defensive theme here
- 17:21Speaker 1: as we're moving along? What is your defensive theme? Because
- 17:24Speaker 1: I do have one as well.
- 17:26Speaker 2: Take it away.
- 17:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I think for me it's two real quick, and
- 17:29Speaker 3: they kind of tie into each other. The Eagles defense
- 17:33Speaker 3: does struggle against mobile quarterbacks. I don't think Cam Ward
- 17:36Speaker 3: is a very good quarterback. Wasn't a big fan of
- 17:39Speaker 3: him in college. Not a huge fan of him in
- 17:42Speaker 3: the NFL. I just don't think he's very good. But
- 17:47Speaker 3: the Eagles are struggling to tackle. And it's one of
- 17:49Speaker 3: those things, you know, we talk about consistency. That will change.
- 17:53Speaker 3: You know, again, 2026 is very different. They don't do
- 17:57Speaker 3: tackling in practice.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:59Speaker 3: And, you know, Jeff, anything that you do that you
- 18:03Speaker 3: normally do that you take eight months off of or
- 18:06Speaker 3: a number of months off of, you're probably going to
- 18:09Speaker 3: struggle back in the beginning. Right? It's just a natural thing. Right.
- 18:14Speaker 3: And so... that is a team for me. This is
- 18:16Speaker 3: the second week in a row where we're watching running backs,
- 18:19Speaker 3: just kind of like run and run and run because
- 18:23Speaker 3: nobody can tackle. Yeah. So anyway, that that's what I
- 18:26Speaker 3: would say kind of my two big defensive themes.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Okay.
- 18:29Speaker 3: All right.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Well, mine kind of piggybacks off of that a bit
- 18:32Speaker 1: when you're talking about these running backs that have been
- 18:35Speaker 1: able to run and run on this team.
- 18:39Speaker 3: Yes.
- 18:39Speaker 1: The tackling, like you said, very much of an issue,
- 18:43Speaker 1: but look, Tony Pollard, he never had more than 60
- 18:46Speaker 1: yards rushing against the Philadelphia Eagles defense in his entire career.
- 18:50Speaker 1: He did today. He absolutely did today with 64 yards.
- 18:55Speaker 1: And I will say this, too. The Eagles defense, they
- 19:01Speaker 1: looked really slow in the secondary just about all game.
- 19:06Speaker 1: And the Titans skill position players, this goes to what
- 19:08Speaker 1: you're talking about, Titans skill position players were making far
- 19:12Speaker 1: too many plays when they got into the second level.
- 19:16Speaker 1: We saw it with that key third and 22 conversion
- 19:19Speaker 1: for a first down in the fourth quarter where it
- 19:22Speaker 1: was a Pollard.
- 19:23Speaker 2: No, it wasn't Pollard. Uh, I forget who it was.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Was it, wait, was it Pollard? No, it was Tajay Spears.
- 19:29Speaker 2: I think it was Tajay Spears.
- 19:30Speaker 3: Yes.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Where he just freaking went off and he, he rushed
- 19:33Speaker 1: for like 27 yards and got the first down.
- 19:36Speaker 2: It was third freaking down.
- 19:38Speaker 3: Why?
- 19:39Speaker 1: Because the secondary not only was having a, having trouble tackling,
- 19:43Speaker 1: but but they are just, they're just not a great
- 19:48Speaker 1: talent group. specifically with the safety position. Andrew Makuba and
- 19:53Speaker 1: Marcus Epps did not have good games today at all.
- 19:56Speaker 1: They did not have good games. And I am extremely
- 20:00Speaker 1: concerned with this safety group. Again, them looking extremely slow
- 20:05Speaker 1: and especially as– the opposing offensive skill players are getting
- 20:09Speaker 1: into that second level and making plays.
- 20:12Speaker 2: That's I'm concerned about it moving forward here.
- 20:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree. I think they're fine at corner. Um,
- 20:20Speaker 3: if there's one position, cause generally how he makes one
- 20:23Speaker 3: trade at the trade deadline, if there's one position, I
- 20:26Speaker 3: can see a veteran coming in. It will be safety.
- 20:29Speaker 3: People may say tight end. How we just spent a
- 20:31Speaker 3: second round pick on a tight end. I don't think
- 20:33Speaker 3: he's for a veteran tight end.
- 20:37Speaker 2: They kept four tight ends. They kept four tight ends
- 20:39Speaker 2: in camp. They're not doing that.
- 20:42Speaker 3: Unless they can trade one of their tight ends.
- 20:44Speaker 2: Or unless Dallas Goddard is injured here with his knee.
- 20:47Speaker 2: We don't know. As of us recording this, it's right
- 20:50Speaker 2: at the end of the game. We don't know. So
- 20:52Speaker 2: be that as it may.
- 20:53Speaker 3: But even then, they may give Stowers a chance. I just...
- 20:57Speaker 3: I don't see them doing that. However, I do see...
- 21:00Speaker 3: And I think that's why he didn't really... invest a
- 21:05Speaker 3: whole lot of draft capital in terms of the safety
- 21:09Speaker 3: position yeah we're really in free agency because i i
- 21:12Speaker 3: think he kind of had an idea of let's see
- 21:15Speaker 3: who is not good who's going to be willing to
- 21:17Speaker 3: make a trade and we can bring in somebody yep
- 21:21Speaker 3: that can make a difference then.
- 21:22Speaker 1: Yep all right well look we want to get to
- 21:24Speaker 1: our grades here but i think we're going to take
- 21:26Speaker 1: another break really quick before we get to our grades
- 21:28Speaker 1: here do you have any other themes buddy before we
- 21:30Speaker 1: uh head to the grades.
- 21:33Speaker 3: I just like to remind myself that really it's hard
- 21:36Speaker 3: to really diagnose what you think a team's record is
- 21:40Speaker 3: going to be in this day and age of the NFL,
- 21:43Speaker 3: especially the Eagles until October starts. I had said, I
- 21:47Speaker 3: kind of thought they were a nine win team. Um,
- 21:51Speaker 3: I know I'm on the low end. I get that. Um,
- 21:54Speaker 3: I just have a lot of questions, but you know,
- 21:57Speaker 3: we'll see when October rolls around. So I'm not, I
- 21:59Speaker 3: was going to lose my mind whether they won or
- 22:01Speaker 3: lost today. So, It's too early. Too early, folks. All right,
- 22:06Speaker 3: let's take a break.
- 22:06Speaker 1: And when we get back, we are going to grade
- 22:09Speaker 1: each offensive unit, defensive unit, and then we're going to
- 22:11Speaker 1: grade the coaching. We're going to give out our MVP
- 22:14Speaker 1: award and our LVP award, least valuable player, as I
- 22:18Speaker 1: like to call it, the doo-doo butter award. So we're
- 22:20Speaker 1: going to take a break. When we get back, we
- 22:23Speaker 1: got the grades coming your way. All right, we are
- 22:28Speaker 1: back with our buddy Josh Huster from PhiladelphiaSoccerNow.com. Again, the
- 22:32Speaker 1: Eagles beating the Titans by a score of 24-20 down
- 22:35Speaker 1: in Tennessee. Let's grade the offensive and defensive units. I'm
- 22:40Speaker 1: giving the quarterback this week a B +. Jalen Hurts,
- 22:43Speaker 1: B +. Again, it was up and down throughout the game.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Two interceptions, yet he had his 15th game-winning drive of
- 22:50Speaker 1: his career.
- 22:51Speaker 2: I'm giving him a B +. What are you giving him, buddy?
- 22:54Speaker 3: I think the final drive... Kind of took me from
- 22:58Speaker 3: a C plus to an A minus because Smitty made
- 23:04Speaker 3: incredible catches.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Yes.
- 23:06Speaker 3: And so did Cooper. But the ball had to be
- 23:08Speaker 3: placed in a perfect spot. And it was.
- 23:10Speaker 1: Yep.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Yep.
- 23:11Speaker 3: And he was perfect on that last drive. And I
- 23:13Speaker 3: can't whether you're playing prevent defense or not, I can't
- 23:17Speaker 3: knock you on it because the offensive line, even in
- 23:20Speaker 3: prevent defense, was still terrible. Yeah. On that drive.
- 23:22Speaker 2: They were.
- 23:23Speaker 3: So, you know, I would say an A minus.
- 23:26Speaker 2: OK, let's move to the running backs.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Tank Bigsby was the guy after Saquon Barkley went down
- 23:32Speaker 1: on the very first play of the game. Barkley only
- 23:34Speaker 1: rushed the ball four times total, even after he got
- 23:37Speaker 1: back into the game. for a total of nine yards.
- 23:40Speaker 1: He averaged 2.3 yards per rush. Tank Bigsby, 13 carries,
- 23:45Speaker 1: 33 yards, averaged 2.5 yards per carry, one touchdown. Will
- 23:49Speaker 1: Shipley touched the ball seven times for 24 yards. Hertz
- 23:52Speaker 1: ran the ball five times for 16 yards. And then
- 23:55Speaker 1: you had some jet sweeps from Hollywood Brown. There were
- 23:58Speaker 1: two of them. That totaled 12 yards. Look, the running backs,
- 24:04Speaker 1: I think that Tank Bigsby and Will Shipley, there were
- 24:06Speaker 1: some good plays that they made in particular, but it
- 24:10Speaker 1: really was the offensive line that I think failed the
- 24:12Speaker 1: running game and rushing attack this week. I'm going to
- 24:15Speaker 1: give the running backs this week a B-. What do
- 24:18Speaker 1: you give them?
- 24:20Speaker 3: I'm actually going to just do incomplete because I just
- 24:23Speaker 3: did not think it was a very good– I don't
- 24:29Speaker 3: think the running backs were put in a good spot.
- 24:31Speaker 2: Not at all.
- 24:31Speaker 3: I'm okay. If Will Shipley isn't on this team anymore.
- 24:35Speaker 3: You know, I, I talk often about my great disdain
- 24:39Speaker 3: of him from his Clemson days. Watch Clemson yesterday and
- 24:42Speaker 3: they wind up pulling it out. And then I'm watching
- 24:45Speaker 3: Will Shipley not do very much today. I just Barkley
- 24:51Speaker 3: to me just looks different. And I have great concerns.
- 24:58Speaker 3: and the other running backs just didn't really have Hollywood
- 25:03Speaker 3: Brown was more effective as a runner than the running backs.
- 25:06Speaker 3: And so I'm just, I'm just going to leave it as,
- 25:09Speaker 3: as incomplete. Okay.
- 25:11Speaker 2: Sounds good. Let's talk about the receiving now.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Devante Smith, 13 targets today came down with 10 balls
- 25:17Speaker 1: for 117 yards and a touchdown. He averaged 11.7 yards
- 25:22Speaker 1: per reception. Uh, Dontavian wick certainly, uh, Getting involved into
- 25:27Speaker 1: this offense, I am loving this. He had 74 total yards.
- 25:31Speaker 1: He averaged 14.8 yards per reception. Darius Cooper caught two balls,
- 25:37Speaker 1: of course, caught the last touchdown. Passed by Jalen Hurts.
- 25:40Speaker 1: Makai Lemon caught one ball for 14 yards. Saquon caught
- 25:43Speaker 1: one ball for 11 yards. Johnny Munt caught, or I'm sorry, yes,
- 25:48Speaker 1: he caught two balls for eight yards. Tank Bigsby, Will Shipley,
- 25:51Speaker 1: Dallas Goddard only caught one ball for four yards. Look,
- 25:56Speaker 1: he spread it around. Jalen Hurts spread the ball around
- 25:58Speaker 1: a lot. I'm going to give the receivers this week
- 26:00Speaker 1: an A-. What do you give them? A-. Because I'm
- 26:05Speaker 1: thinking of Dontavion Wicks, too, because like 34 yards on
- 26:09Speaker 1: that opening drive on two different catches. We're seeing what
- 26:12Speaker 1: kind of receiver he is, what kind of receiver I
- 26:15Speaker 1: think he's going to be in this Sean Mannion offense.
- 26:17Speaker 1: It's manifesting itself. And then, I mean, at the end
- 26:20Speaker 1: of the day, it really was him, Devontae Smith. And then,
- 26:23Speaker 1: of course, Darius Cooper with, you know, two pretty nice
- 26:26Speaker 1: catches that Cooper had, one being the game winning touchdown.
- 26:30Speaker 2: So that's why I'm giving really an A minus here.
- 26:33Speaker 3: I would probably say an A. I mean, to me,
- 26:36Speaker 3: they did a lot of good. There wasn't a lot
- 26:38Speaker 3: of drop passes. There wasn't fumbles. There wasn't.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:42Speaker 3: They just kind of did a lot of good. So
- 26:44Speaker 3: I guess I would say an A.
- 26:46Speaker 2: Okay. Sounds good.
- 26:47Speaker 1: Let's move to the offensive line.
- 26:49Speaker 2: Boy, there's some doo-doo butter being spread around here.
- 26:54Speaker 3: Buckle up. Yeah.
- 26:55Speaker 2: Offensive line. They're going to get a D for me
- 26:57Speaker 2: this week.
- 26:58Speaker 1: I mean, and look, yes, like we said, Cam Juergens
- 27:00Speaker 1: playing at the left guard spot. Drew Kendall playing center,
- 27:04Speaker 1: which really kind of is his more natural spot, but
- 27:06Speaker 1: still inconsistencies all over the place. Lane Johnson had a penalty.
- 27:11Speaker 1: And yes, you know, guys are allowed penalties, I guess, sometimes.
- 27:14Speaker 1: But you're not used to seeing it a lot. You know,
- 27:17Speaker 1: Jordan Mailata getting flopped on his butt. You don't see
- 27:20Speaker 1: that a lot as well. So there was a lot
- 27:22Speaker 1: of inconsistencies that were to the detriment of this offense.
- 27:25Speaker 2: So I'm giving him a D. What do you give him?
- 27:27Speaker 3: I made a vow that this year I would be
- 27:29Speaker 3: more generous with my grades. And that was my goal.
- 27:34Speaker 3: And then I watched the Eagles offensive line play today. Jeff,
- 27:40Speaker 3: I don't think you can give them anything other than
- 27:42Speaker 3: an F. And I've talked about it before where I
- 27:47Speaker 3: think we as Eagles fans have been so spoiled by
- 27:49Speaker 3: watching offensive line play.
- 27:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:53Speaker 3: But just like I did with the Eagles wide receivers
- 27:55Speaker 3: where I couldn't really dock them for anything. What good.
- 28:01Speaker 3: Did the Eagles offensive line have today? Yeah. What good
- 28:03Speaker 3: did they do?
- 28:04Speaker 2: Great question.
- 28:06Speaker 3: And if I really can't come up with anything, I
- 28:10Speaker 3: got to give you an F. Yeah.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Right.
- 28:12Speaker 3: You kind of started to see, and I moved the
- 28:14Speaker 3: grade up from there, but if I can't find anything
- 28:17Speaker 3: to bring you up, it's got to be an F.
- 28:20Speaker 3: All right.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Let's go on the opposite side of the ball. Defensive line.
- 28:24Speaker 1: I'm going to give the defensive line like a C
- 28:26Speaker 1: minus here. I, I, I, I'm going to get like
- 28:29Speaker 1: you said, you got a quarterback in Cam Ward that
- 28:31Speaker 1: is not that great of a quarterback. And you look
- 28:33Speaker 1: at the defensive stats, two sacks, only three quarterback hits here.
- 28:40Speaker 1: You know, I appreciate the fact that Nolan Smith got
- 28:43Speaker 1: a sack. I appreciate the fact that Jordan, I'm sorry,
- 28:47Speaker 1: Jalen Carter. Did get a sack, but that was basically
- 28:50Speaker 1: Jalen Carter's only tackle all day long. So this defensive line,
- 28:55Speaker 1: C- for me, didn't perform the way that they should
- 28:58Speaker 1: have against this Titans offense that's not very good.
- 29:01Speaker 3: Yeah, I think towards the end, they redeemed themselves to
- 29:08Speaker 3: a C. I don't necessarily care so much about sacks anymore.
- 29:14Speaker 3: because I do think that quarterback pressures are also very important.
- 29:19Speaker 3: But part of the reason why you're paying Davis and
- 29:23Speaker 3: Carter is because of how good they are with the run.
- 29:26Speaker 3: And when I'm seeing over and over again, running backs
- 29:30Speaker 3: going for six or more yards, that's a problem and
- 29:34Speaker 3: that's not good. So not only are you not getting sacks,
- 29:37Speaker 3: not only you're not getting pressure you're not stopping the
- 29:40Speaker 3: run i'll go with the c they redeem themselves a
- 29:44Speaker 3: little bit.
- 29:45Speaker 1: The tennessee titans rushed for 122 yards 4.2 yards per
- 29:46Speaker 1: rushing attempt not great at all with this Eagles defensive
- 29:53Speaker 1: line for sure.
- 29:54Speaker 3: Very, uh, and how much they pay them. I mean
- 29:56Speaker 3: that again, I go back to that. I feel like
- 29:58Speaker 3: it's fair now to completely criticize the defensive line because
- 30:02Speaker 3: they are one of the highest paid units on the team.
- 30:04Speaker 2: Absolutely. Absolutely.
- 30:05Speaker 1: All right, let's move to the running or I'm sorry
- 30:07Speaker 1: to the linebackers, uh, with Jihad Campbell, Zach Bond, Zach Bond, uh,
- 30:13Speaker 1: a bit quiet today and Jihad Campbell, uh, Jihad Campbell
- 30:17Speaker 1: had most tackles of any member of this defense with
- 30:21Speaker 1: 10 total tackles. But Jihad Campbell getting burnt. We're still
- 30:26Speaker 1: seeing him getting a bit burnt every now and again
- 30:28Speaker 1: on coverage. So I'm actually going to give the linebackers
- 30:31Speaker 1: a C in this matchup here.
- 30:33Speaker 2: What do you give them?
- 30:35Speaker 3: I will give them about the same grade. But at
- 30:38Speaker 3: what point– and I think– the Eagles have been very
- 30:43Speaker 3: good about not overplaying a player just because of where
- 30:48Speaker 3: they drafted them.
- 30:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:50Speaker 3: I think they've been very good about that with one
- 30:52Speaker 3: exception and it's Campbell.
- 30:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:55Speaker 3: I think your backup that you have is a much
- 30:58Speaker 3: better player, a much more physical player and much better
- 31:02Speaker 3: in coverage. And I'm still trying to figure out why
- 31:05Speaker 3: Campbell is starting every single week.
- 31:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:07Speaker 3: When he's not the better of the two linebackers. I
- 31:10Speaker 3: think he's fine filling in, or maybe you add him
- 31:14Speaker 3: to the defensive line rotation. I can't keep seeing Campbell
- 31:18Speaker 3: play linebacker because he's having a very hard time in
- 31:21Speaker 3: the NFL doing it.
- 31:22Speaker 2: You'd rather see Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at this point. I would.
- 31:25Speaker 3: Because at this point, I know what Campbell is. I
- 31:30Speaker 3: don't need to see anymore. We may get every three games,
- 31:35Speaker 3: one flashy play. Um, but that's not enough anymore. And
- 31:40Speaker 3: from what I've seen in, in trot junior, he, he's just,
- 31:47Speaker 3: he plays with more passion and he's a Clemson guy.
- 31:49Speaker 3: So I don't want to, you know, you know how
- 31:51Speaker 3: hard it is for me to say these things, but
- 31:54Speaker 3: he's a much, he's, he just seems like a much
- 31:56Speaker 3: better player and I want to see him play.
- 31:58Speaker 2: Okay. Sounds good.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Let's do the secondary now before we get to a
- 32:02Speaker 1: special teams and then our coaching grades and then our
- 32:05Speaker 1: MVP and doodoo butter award. Uh, I'm secondary is tough
- 32:10Speaker 1: for me because the cornerbacks, I think did a fantastic
- 32:12Speaker 1: job throughout the course of this game. I think they
- 32:14Speaker 1: did very well. I mentioned the secondary before the concerns.
- 32:18Speaker 1: It's kind of just up there. It's just, it's like
- 32:19Speaker 1: a C plus B minus for me. I'm going to
- 32:21Speaker 1: go B minus. I'm going to be generous. I'm going
- 32:23Speaker 1: to go B minus with this secondary. What do you
- 32:24Speaker 1: give them?
- 32:28Speaker 3: I tend towards B +. They did their job at
- 32:31Speaker 3: the end to kind of shut things down. Again, it's
- 32:33Speaker 3: a resource thing. There is not much money in the
- 32:35Speaker 3: cap allocated to the back end. Now, that will be changing.
- 32:39Speaker 3: But for this year, I mean, they haven't invested a
- 32:42Speaker 3: ton of resources in it.
- 32:43Speaker 2: So, you know, I.
- 32:45Speaker 3: I tend to give them a B plus. They did
- 32:47Speaker 3: their job. They could have been a little bit better,
- 32:49Speaker 3: but they did their job.
- 32:50Speaker 2: All right. Sounds good. We are going to take one
- 32:53Speaker 2: more break, folks.
- 32:53Speaker 1: When we get back, we are going to grade the
- 32:56Speaker 1: coaching and give out our MVP and LVP award.
- 32:59Speaker 3: Stick with us. All right.
- 33:02Speaker 1: Let's get into our grading with the coaches. But for
- 33:06Speaker 1: special teams, I got to say I'm going to be
- 33:08Speaker 1: giving special.
- 33:08Speaker 2: Teams an A this week.
- 33:11Speaker 1: Britton Covey, his first punt return was 26 yards. And,
- 33:15Speaker 1: you know, when you think the guy shouldn't be on
- 33:18Speaker 1: the team anymore and he's averaging this game 15.5 yards,
- 33:21Speaker 1: you know.
- 33:24Speaker 2: And it's about field position here. It's about field position.
- 33:28Speaker 2: I give him all the credit in the world. It's
- 33:30Speaker 2: what you want for special teams.
- 33:31Speaker 1: 58-yard field goal from Jake Elliott, his long of the day.
- 33:36Speaker 1: He ended up making all three extra points. And look,
- 33:40Speaker 1: special teams did what they had to do today.
- 33:41Speaker 2: I give him an A. What do you give special teams?
- 33:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I give him an A +. I don't know
- 33:47Speaker 3: that you can give a punter an MVP award. Great
- 33:51Speaker 3: man's fantastic. I'm serious. I think the Eagles have the
- 33:54Speaker 3: best putter in the NFL.
- 33:56Speaker 2: 55 yards per punt today, folks.
- 33:58Speaker 3: Yep. But it's, it's more than just the yards. I mean,
- 34:03Speaker 3: it is how many times have we come on here
- 34:06Speaker 3: and we've complained about the punting situation. Yeah. It almost
- 34:12Speaker 3: never happens. He doesn't have bad ponds. The one thing
- 34:16Speaker 3: I will say about special teams is if you're expecting
- 34:20Speaker 3: Jake Elliott to make a 68-yarder or a 60-yarder or
- 34:23Speaker 3: a plus... it might be time to go for it
- 34:26Speaker 3: because that 58 yard or barely squeaked.
- 34:28Speaker 2: It did.
- 34:29Speaker 3: So it might be time if we're looking at a
- 34:32Speaker 3: 60 yard field goal, let's just run an extra play.
- 34:35Speaker 2: Right.
- 34:35Speaker 3: And yeah.
- 34:37Speaker 2: All right.
- 34:38Speaker 1: Defensive coaching, Vic Fangio. I am going to give him
- 34:41Speaker 1: a B minus this week. And honestly, it probably would
- 34:45Speaker 1: have been more of an a minus, but I think
- 34:48Speaker 1: just because of the way the defensive line played and
- 34:51Speaker 1: then the safety positions, that's why it brings it down
- 34:53Speaker 1: to B minus for me. What do you give Vic
- 34:55Speaker 1: Fangio this week with your grade?
- 34:58Speaker 3: I'm going to give him a C.
- 34:59Speaker 2: Okay.
- 35:00Speaker 3: I don't think the Titans are a very good team,
- 35:03Speaker 3: especially on offense. They don't have a lot of weapons.
- 35:06Speaker 3: They're running all over you. And I know this tends
- 35:11Speaker 3: to be the trend with Vic the first couple of weeks.
- 35:13Speaker 3: He's figuring out his players, those kind of things. I
- 35:18Speaker 3: thought it was a very average game from the defense,
- 35:21Speaker 3: which is great if, you know, they, but they, they
- 35:25Speaker 3: did almost lose this game.
- 35:27Speaker 2: Yes, they did.
- 35:28Speaker 3: If it weren't for the stupidity of the Titans, they
- 35:30Speaker 3: would have lost this game. Yep. So like if it
- 35:33Speaker 3: were Washington last week, they lose this game.
- 35:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:36Speaker 3: So I would say about a C.
- 35:39Speaker 1: And I say the stupidity of the offensive coaching, specifically
- 35:43Speaker 1: in the second half, is why I'm going to give
- 35:46Speaker 1: Sean Mannion, Nick Sirianni, they're going to get a C
- 35:49Speaker 1: from me because of the stupidity in what they were doing.
- 35:52Speaker 1: We talked about the screen game. And just what that is,
- 35:55Speaker 1: what it's become. Well, it's become nothing, but what that
- 35:58Speaker 1: theme is and the consistency of getting away from what
- 36:02Speaker 1: is working drives me freaking crazy. So a C for
- 36:07Speaker 1: Sean Mannion and Nick Sirianni for me.
- 36:09Speaker 2: What do you give them?
- 36:11Speaker 3: I give them three separate grades in a, for the
- 36:13Speaker 3: first half. Yes. The second half drops down to a C.
- 36:17Speaker 2: Okay.
- 36:18Speaker 3: And then I'll end with the B plus because I
- 36:20Speaker 3: do think D plus B. Okay. Okay. While Hertz was incredible,
- 36:27Speaker 3: I think it was a really smart game plan. And
- 36:30Speaker 3: how they moved the ball down the field In the
- 36:32Speaker 3: place that we're called Utilized the middle of the field
- 36:34Speaker 3: some Then decided to go to the outside I think
- 36:37Speaker 3: what Mannion did was He utilized the middle of the
- 36:40Speaker 3: field To begin with on that last drive Saw that
- 36:43Speaker 3: they were being soft on the outside And said, okay,
- 36:46Speaker 3: if you're going to give me the sidelines We're going
- 36:48Speaker 3: to call some out routes Yep So I, I bumped
- 36:51Speaker 3: them up to a B plus.
- 36:52Speaker 2: Okay. Very good.
- 36:53Speaker 1: All right. Our MVP of the, the matchup here. I'm
- 36:57Speaker 1: going to let you go here. Who do you think
- 36:59Speaker 1: the MVP is for you in particular? Not necessarily who
- 37:03Speaker 1: everybody thinks should be the MVP, but in your mind,
- 37:05Speaker 1: who really was the MVP of this game?
- 37:09Speaker 3: Oh boy. You know what? I'll, I'll give it to Smitty.
- 37:14Speaker 2: Oh, that's who I was going to give it to.
- 37:15Speaker 2: I was going to give it.
- 37:16Speaker 3: To Smitty too. I'll do Hurts. No, that's okay.
- 37:20Speaker 1: You can do Smitty because I, I mean, for me,
- 37:23Speaker 1: those toe tapping, toe, you know what I mean? Those, the,
- 37:27Speaker 1: those receptions on the sidelines that we talked about with this,
- 37:30Speaker 1: nobody does it better than him.
- 37:32Speaker 2: And this team does not get into the position. Yes.
- 37:35Speaker 1: Without Jalen Hurts throwing that ball, but without him catching
- 37:38Speaker 1: the ball in critical situations.
- 37:41Speaker 2: And that's why he's MVP for me.
- 37:43Speaker 3: And he just doesn't drop anything.
- 37:45Speaker 2: I know, it's incredible.
- 37:47Speaker 3: I just... it is an incredible, like it's almost automatic.
- 37:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:52Speaker 3: Like the only way it's not going to be completed
- 37:54Speaker 3: is if a defender gets the hand on the ball,
- 37:56Speaker 3: that's it. Otherwise he's catching it. Yep. And it doesn't
- 37:59Speaker 3: matter how many defenders are around him. I'll catch it. Yep. So,
- 38:03Speaker 3: you know, and part of the reason why I want
- 38:05Speaker 3: to give it to Smitty is because call it AJ
- 38:09Speaker 3: Brown PTSD, but like last week he wasn't involved much. Yeah.
- 38:14Speaker 3: He didn't have a book on the sideline. He's not
- 38:17Speaker 3: complaining in the locker room. He just came out this week,
- 38:21Speaker 3: did his job, and he's also on my fantasy team.
- 38:25Speaker 3: There you go. Anyway.
- 38:27Speaker 2: Sounds good.
- 38:27Speaker 3: So I'll say him with, I would do a 1A, 1B.
- 38:31Speaker 3: Hertz is the 1B.
- 38:32Speaker 2: Okay.
- 38:33Speaker 1: The least valuable player on this Eagles team.
- 38:36Speaker 2: Who gets the doo-doo butter award in your mind here?
- 38:41Speaker 1: Because there was a lot to go around on both
- 38:43Speaker 1: sides of the ball, to be honest with you.
- 38:48Speaker 2: I'll start with mine, if that's all right with you.
- 38:50Speaker 2: And it's Jordan Davis, actually.
- 38:52Speaker 1: Jordan Davis, somebody who, We were talking about earlier with
- 38:56Speaker 1: he and Jalen Carter. You got to clog up that middle.
- 38:59Speaker 1: That's what you're being paid for. Those a gaps. You
- 39:01Speaker 1: got to make sure that you are not letting Tony
- 39:04Speaker 1: Pollard get right through there or, or, or Tajay Spears.
- 39:08Speaker 1: You know, you got to make sure that they are
- 39:10Speaker 1: not getting through those holes and they did not do
- 39:13Speaker 1: a good job today. I could give this one a
- 39:15Speaker 1: and one B as well, Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter,
- 39:18Speaker 1: but Jalen Carter did have a sack.
- 39:20Speaker 2: I appreciate that. Jordan Davis is getting my doo-doo butter
- 39:23Speaker 2: award this week. What about you?
- 39:25Speaker 3: My, my doo-doo butter award. We're calling it doo-doo butter.
- 39:29Speaker 2: Least valuable player.
- 39:30Speaker 3: Yes. Yeah. Okay. Well, it's not actually going to be
- 39:33Speaker 3: a player. Oh, okay. And I am blanking on his name. Um,
- 39:37Speaker 3: but it's the offensive line coach.
- 39:38Speaker 2: Yeah. Oh yeah. Oh gosh. Who is it?
- 39:42Speaker 3: Uh, uh, it's going to drive me crazy. Um, But anyway...
- 39:47Speaker 3: Chris Cooper. Chris Cooper, okay. Chris Cooper, congratulations. You get
- 39:53Speaker 3: an award, the doo-doo butter award. I know it's hard
- 39:58Speaker 3: to follow Stoutland, right? But man, I mean, the offensive
- 40:03Speaker 3: line was rough last week. I could see improvements in
- 40:10Speaker 3: almost every area. I'm not saying they were huge, but
- 40:12Speaker 3: there were at least improvements except for one area. In fact,
- 40:15Speaker 3: it felt worse this week.
- 40:17Speaker 2: Yeah, it did.
- 40:19Speaker 3: And I have real concern. I think they play Chicago
- 40:22Speaker 3: next week.
- 40:22Speaker 1: Yep.
- 40:23Speaker 3: I have real concerns about the defensive line of Chicago
- 40:27Speaker 3: against the Seagulls offensive line. Now, Caleb Williams apparently got hurt,
- 40:32Speaker 3: went down, had to be helped off field. Yep. That
- 40:35Speaker 3: doesn't look right.
- 40:36Speaker 2: Right. Could be a hamstring injury. Yep.
- 40:39Speaker 3: Come on down, Chris Cooper. Congratulations on your doo-doo award.
- 40:42Speaker 3: All right.
- 40:43Speaker 1: Again, the Philadelphia Eagles are 2-0 on the season. Amazingly enough,
- 40:47Speaker 1: after this game down in Tennessee against the Titans.
- 40:50Speaker 2: They are again 2-0 on the season.
- 40:53Speaker 1: And it's going to be interesting to see what happens
- 40:55Speaker 1: this week in terms of the player interviews, coaching interviews.
- 40:59Speaker 1: But we're going to be talking about this Eagles team
- 41:01Speaker 1: here at the Philadelphia Sports Dibble podcast show in the
- 41:04Speaker 1: weeks and months to come. My friend Josh Huster again, folks,
- 41:08Speaker 1: from PhiladelphiaSoccerNow.com.
- 41:10Speaker 2: Keep your eyes.
- 41:11Speaker 1: On what's happening with the union, folks, and go over
- 41:13Speaker 1: to PhiladelphiaSoccerNow.com.
- 41:15Speaker 2: Good stuff over there.
- 41:16Speaker 1: And thanks for jumping on here again, buddy, as we're
- 41:19Speaker 1: closing things out here. Always appreciate you.
- 41:21Speaker 3: Yeah, man, anytime. Maybe Kevin Sullivan can play offensive line. Yes, maybe.
- 41:29Speaker 2: Small guy, but he's fast.
- 41:31Speaker 3: He's fast.
- 41:32Speaker 2: There you go. All right, folks, we'll catch you next time.
