- 0:00SPEAKER_04: In this week's Let's Stick Together, we introduce another new FIFA card.
- 0:05SPEAKER_04: We relook at some more stats.
- 0:08SPEAKER_04: The hockey awards officially came out and we give our takes on that.
- 0:13SPEAKER_04: We get back into Hockey Life with Brendan's nice song to go with it.
- 0:18SPEAKER_04: Uh, we get in the coop and of course she'll hit all next.
- 0:36SPEAKER_04: Right, it's episode nine of Let's Stick Together brought to you by Why I Want.
- 0:41SPEAKER_04: Shameless plug to start us off.
- 0:44SPEAKER_04: There is a Black Friday special for Why Want.
- 0:47SPEAKER_04: They're bringing out two top of the range sticks for£115 each on Thursday, the 23rd of November.
- 0:59SPEAKER_04: So hopefully that's today if you're listening on the first day it's out.
- 1:03SPEAKER_04: Check them out.
- 1:03SPEAKER_04: They've uh created molds.
- 1:05SPEAKER_04: You basically the idea of that is that we give they give the hockey community a chance to give feedback and let us know what the future range of Y1 looks like.
- 1:17SPEAKER_04: Now on to normal stuff.
- 1:19SPEAKER_04: Do you guys want to plug anything?
- 1:22SPEAKER_02: No, I just enjoyed how robotic that sounded.
- 1:24SPEAKER_02: Good reading of the teleprompter, Phil.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: Well done, Philip.
- 1:30SPEAKER_04: Maybe Brendan, you could look for like a hair bobble sponsor for the man bud.
- 1:35SPEAKER_02: Uh I'm not sure how that works because obviously they're quite small, so you're not really gonna get anything decent out of it.
- 1:42SPEAKER_02: But yeah, appreciate that.
- 1:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, thanks, you can't.
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: Started where we thought we would.
- 1:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah, let's start off with how we normally do, but um I thought we would do the news because the English hockey league, National League, uh closed, the Premier League's closed to uh the weekend just gone.
- 2:03SPEAKER_04: Um so before we come to Yupe, as we normally go to Yupe, we'll actually go to me and Brendan first, and then we'll just close off the English league and then we can let Yup do his standard monologue.
- 2:13SPEAKER_04: Um, Brendan, how did you get on?
- 2:16SPEAKER_04: Did you enjoy yourself?
- 2:18SPEAKER_04: Uh, and any other news to report?
- 2:22SPEAKER_02: Um, one four-one against East Grinchet.
- 2:25SPEAKER_02: So we're joint top of the league.
- 2:27SPEAKER_02: Uh I got a lot of abuse.
- 2:29SPEAKER_02: Some of it was questionable, some of it was pretty funny to be fair.
- 2:32SPEAKER_02: Uh, I definitely got more involved than I probably should have done.
- 2:36SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah, do you know what?
- 2:38SPEAKER_02: Really good club, no real complaints.
- 2:41SPEAKER_02: Really enjoyed it from a life side of things, but from an actual hockey point of view, it was a pretty miserable day.
- 2:46SPEAKER_02: We picked up two injuries, three injuries in total, actually, towards the end of the game.
- 2:51SPEAKER_02: So for the last 10 minutes, we were playing with a back four rather than a back five, and none of us in the defense realized, which is always a good sign.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: Well, good the game was.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: I want to put you, I want to I want to question two things already.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: One is what were the insults?
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: Because it's always fun to hear.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: And two, Brendan, you were not one of the guys injured, were you?
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: No, no, I wasn't one of the guys injured, so that's a good sign.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: It's both a miracle and a win.
- 3:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's positive.
- 3:17SPEAKER_04: Uh, some of the abuse.
- 3:18SPEAKER_04: What the abuse.
- 3:19SPEAKER_04: Just to give some context to this, because EG Faithful tweeted you already, saying, tweeted us already, saying, I don't think we're gonna come across great on the podcast.
- 3:29SPEAKER_04: So instantly that's that's piqued mine and you've attention because we actually don't know what you've what they said to you.
- 3:36SPEAKER_04: So sorry, go on.
- 3:38SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah, I got a lot of Claire Bolding chat, uh, a lot of why didn't you join Holcombe?
- 3:44SPEAKER_02: That was mainly their favorite one.
- 3:46SPEAKER_02: Uh then they proceeded to shout offers for what they'd offer for me joining.
- 3:51SPEAKER_02: Uh, I can I can safely say it wasn't much money.
- 3:54SPEAKER_04: Um did they lowball you?
- 3:57SPEAKER_02: Uh no, I think they were offering exactly what they can offer or thought I was worth offering.
- 4:01SPEAKER_02: Um yeah, and then Claire Balding, what does it mean?
- 4:05SPEAKER_02: Uh Claire Balding's got a distinctive haircut, is probably the best way to describe it.
- 4:09SPEAKER_02: Uh the classic middle-aged woman haircut, if that was um, I normally should call out Brendan a bit.
- 4:17SPEAKER_04: Brendan, you she's a British TV presenter.
- 4:20SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 4:20SPEAKER_02: And that's quite well known in the British world.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: And yeah, as as you just made the bundle clear, I'm not from Britain, so yeah.
- 4:30SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah, I'll leave the other bits that were pretty questionable about because I don't think they're appropriate.
- 4:35SPEAKER_02: Um, oh those are the ones I like.
- 4:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I no, I'm not I'm not actually comfortable talking about them.
- 4:40SPEAKER_02: They weren't they weren't horrendous, but just rather not.
- 4:43SPEAKER_02: They were to do with my other half that I don't really want to repeat.
- 4:47SPEAKER_04: Um you get did you get involved?
- 4:49SPEAKER_04: You said you got involved.
- 4:50SPEAKER_02: Not not with that one.
- 4:51SPEAKER_02: I chose to ignore that one.
- 4:52SPEAKER_02: Whereas the the Holcomb chat and uh the haircut chat, I did very much enjoy.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: No, I'm even more curious what it what it was about.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: Was it about your dick?
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: Bill, how did you get on?
- 5:04SPEAKER_01: It was about your cock.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: Bill, how did you get on, my friend?
- 5:10SPEAKER_01: Oh, we yeah, okay.
- 5:12SPEAKER_03: We'll move on just getting involved in this.
- 5:14SPEAKER_04: We'll know what Brendan's like.
- 5:16SPEAKER_04: So we'll move swiftly on.
- 5:17SPEAKER_04: You calm yourself.
- 5:18SPEAKER_04: We um we finished off uh our first half of the season with a win against Hampstead 5-1.
- 5:25SPEAKER_04: Was an enjoyable Saturday evening.
- 5:27SPEAKER_04: Um down at Paddington Recreational Ground where people stand behind some rope and uh it's a nice, nice little crowd, enjoyable time.
- 5:37SPEAKER_04: And um yeah, yeah, not not a huge amount to oh probably the most entertaining fact of the podcast for the podcast was that we were almost not allowed to shower after the game because there was an 8 pm curfew at the uh changing facilities that the security decided at 20 to 8 that he wouldn't let anyone in.
- 6:00SPEAKER_04: Um proceeded to have an argument with 20 guys and then eventually let us in.
- 6:04SPEAKER_04: But he said he's locking the doors at 8 o'clock, and if you're in there, you're in there, which was good fun.
- 6:10SPEAKER_02: This is this is again what brings hockey back down to words from thinking we could go semi-pro, we could push it further, and then there's things like this that just drag it back down to the real hard working class of the world.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: This is also very, very English.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: You and your rules, rules are are are sacred, yeah, like diesel biscuits.
- 6:30SPEAKER_04: In his words, we dawdled, lots of people were dawdling off the pitch, and he wanted to see more intent for us to get in the shower, which is a bit weird, isn't it?
- 6:39SPEAKER_04: But okay.
- 6:40SPEAKER_04: Yeah, um sprint, yeah.
- 6:42SPEAKER_03: Uh come on, guys, let's get to the shower.
- 6:47SPEAKER_04: So I'll round it off because basically the English Premier Leagues have now finished in the women's side.
- 6:53SPEAKER_04: Now it what happens is for anyone who doesn't know the format is uh a bit complicated, but it's gonna go into something called phase two.
- 6:59SPEAKER_04: So the the 12 team leagues split into the top six and bottom six, and you play another round and you play against either the people who are if you're in the top six, you play against the other five teams.
- 7:09SPEAKER_04: If you're bottom six, you play against the other five teams.
- 7:12SPEAKER_04: Um on the women's side, there are a couple of surprises I would say.
- 7:16SPEAKER_04: Uh Serbiton is not a surprise there, top of the league.
- 7:19SPEAKER_04: But then Reading, East Prince, Hampstead, University of Nottingham, and Beaston made the made the top six.
- 7:25SPEAKER_04: No, Bowden, not Beast.
- 7:27SPEAKER_04: Bowdoin.
- 7:28SPEAKER_04: Which I'd say Reading and Bowden, congrats to you because they were both, I think, fighting for relegation last year.
- 7:34SPEAKER_04: Um, on the men's side, probably no surprises, but Old Georgians, Serbiton, Holcomb, Wimbledon, Hampstead, and Southgate made the cut.
- 7:43SPEAKER_04: So we'll move on to phase two in February.
- 7:45SPEAKER_04: Um there is uh the top three teams of Old Georgians, Surbiton, and Holcomb on the men's side have a quite a healthy goal difference for having only played 11 games.
- 7:55SPEAKER_04: Um, Old Georgians plus 51, Serbiton plus 47, Holcomb plus 42, which is pretty decent.
- 8:04SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 8:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah, uh you you've spent way too much time being quiet, so how is your weekend?
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, it's just uh we we our game got cancelled again, and I was uh yeah, it was weird.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: Like, in all honesty, I didn't really mind that it got cancelled.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: Uh the Slover is injured.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: Uh in warm-up, uh Sheldon Schouten got uh got kind of injured, so he couldn't play.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: So we were like two of our main uh uh defenders down, playing against Kampong.
- 8:43SPEAKER_00: So I was like, it's not the worst thing in the world that it's that this game got cancelled.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: It was raining cats and dogs again.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: Um, and I'm a I'm more of a good weather kind of player.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: Um, so odds were all stacked against me, and then uh it started, yeah, as I said, started pissing down.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: And apparently, ever since like normally our field is always really good.
- 9:04SPEAKER_00: We have a really nice pitch.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: You can vouch for me, Phil.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: Uh, but now it um yeah, it it's it it it floods within within 10 minutes, 15 minutes.
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: So, yeah, again the game got cancelled.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: There was a big, big discussion in the clubhouse because the coach from Campbell uh I think he smelled blood.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: He was like, Yeah, Ryan Roth is not at the strongest right now.
- 9:25SPEAKER_00: He wanted to move the game to the day after, a Sunday, uh, to which we uh said it wasn't uh physically responsible to play the day after, uh, which was also which is which was like in the rules in Holland say that you can only uh uh play replay the game on a date that's been set up front, so you can't go in the same weekend, those are the rules, but yeah, that because you played on a Saturday and there's a free Sunday after.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: Um Campo was like, Why not play tomorrow?
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: And then we were like, Yeah, because rules say so.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: If we were all healthy, I don't I don't think I'm not sure, but uh maybe our club would not have been that difficult.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: But I get rules are rules, and we were like, Yeah, fuck it, maybe the sloven is back next time we play them, which is kind of important to us.
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: So it was this whole big discussion, which was kind of funny because a coach from Campo was really annoyed, understandably, but he was really annoyed.
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: Uh, and in the end, we didn't play Saturday, we didn't play Sunday, and now it's gonna be uh done after the winter.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: Uh, but yeah, so it was like a very yeah, no hooky kind of weekend, which was also quite nice to have.
- 10:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, what what I really enjoyed the monologue to then find out you didn't play.
- 10:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it is a bit mental when I saw again it being postponed.
- 10:43SPEAKER_04: I didn't uh something really bad happened to the pitch, or is it just now it's just yeah, I I I I don't know.
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: It it was like like raining pretty hard.
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: Um so so yeah, it it's like it's not that it that it like but the other fields or the other pitches at Orange Road did hold up.
- 11:03SPEAKER_00: So I think there's your answer.
- 11:05SPEAKER_04: Fair enough.
- 11:06SPEAKER_04: And I guess well, you for anyone tuning in now, you haven't you haven't come in on the same episode as last week when you were just talking about a flooded field and we're just repeating ourselves, but we'll move it on because for anyone who uh hasn't been living under a rock, the FIH awards actually came out.
- 11:27SPEAKER_04: Um, and basically, like they've released the goalkeepers and the players of the year, they're holding off on the coaches and the young players.
- 11:37SPEAKER_04: So I've got to say, firstly, Brendan, fair play to you.
- 11:41SPEAKER_04: Um on the women's side, you got a hell of a lot right.
- 11:44SPEAKER_04: So congratulations to you.
- 11:46SPEAKER_02: I don't know if I got four out of five, didn't I?
- 11:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah, okay.
- 11:50SPEAKER_04: Well, I yeah, okay.
- 11:51SPEAKER_04: Well, you rub it in yourself as well.
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we didn't you missed you.
- 11:57SPEAKER_00: I thought you named a different Australian.
- 11:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I did.
- 12:00SPEAKER_02: That was the only one I missed.
- 12:01SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay, well done.
- 12:05SPEAKER_05: Oh yeah, sorry, okay.
- 12:09SPEAKER_04: So well, if anyone hasn't seen it, I guess we'll just talk about the players of the year and then we can go on to the goalies.
- 12:15SPEAKER_04: But um Brendan, actually, do you want to do this or do you want me to do this?
- 12:20SPEAKER_02: I mean, you can get you can go through it yourself if you want.
- 12:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah, okay.
- 12:23SPEAKER_04: So on the women's side, uh Anglair got nominated, and we guessed that one.
- 12:28SPEAKER_04: Brendan got that one, Rosie Malone from Australia got nominated, Trincinetti from Argentina, Sandavard, and uh Zimmerman uh on the women's side, and then Brinkman, Jeremy Haywood, Hardicksing, Zach Wallace, and Nicholas Vellon got nominated.
- 12:46SPEAKER_04: Uh, and I guess first of all, you Brendan, what are your takes on this?
- 12:52SPEAKER_04: Uh, who was unlucky?
- 12:54SPEAKER_04: Who was lucky to get in?
- 12:55SPEAKER_04: Like, first of all, we should say actually, congratulations to everyone who got nominated.
- 12:59SPEAKER_04: It's a fucking special thing.
- 13:01SPEAKER_04: Whatever we say on the podcast doesn't actually mean anything.
- 13:03SPEAKER_04: Like, you've been nominated by some experts, so congratulations on being nominated.
- 13:10SPEAKER_04: Like, it's a huge thing.
- 13:11SPEAKER_04: And no matter what we say, you're all pretty special players.
- 13:15SPEAKER_04: But now we can start telling what we really think.
- 13:19SPEAKER_02: Uh, do you want to go first or or am I alright to rant?
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: Oh, you can rant, Brendan.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: I'd like to see a rant.
- 13:27SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 13:27SPEAKER_02: I uh I sent these guys a um I sent Phil and you both.
- 13:32SPEAKER_02: I was monologuing whilst I was on the train on Friday night, and I I kind of lost my shit a bit with the whole FIH awards thing.
- 13:39SPEAKER_02: And it's more the fact that there's no explanation as to why people get put into it.
- 13:45SPEAKER_02: Um and for the majority, it's not an issue.
- 13:48SPEAKER_02: But for like some of them, I don't really understand like why they've been put in the actual votes, and there's no explanation anywhere that I can find as to why, like how people are viewed.
- 13:59SPEAKER_02: Like, is it club hockey?
- 14:00SPEAKER_02: Is it just international?
- 14:02SPEAKER_02: Is it just international from that year?
- 14:03SPEAKER_02: There's no actual explanation of it.
- 14:06SPEAKER_02: And then I got to the point that I was just like, I just think it's complete and utter bullshit the way some of the people have just made it yet again, personally.
- 14:13SPEAKER_02: Um, so yeah, so I kind of got to the point where I was just so exasperated that I kind of just had to write everything down just to kind of relax.
- 14:20SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah, and I as I say, like I think certain people deserve the vote, I really do.
- 14:25SPEAKER_02: And I think some people have got in just because they've put the ball in the back of the net, but actually not done anything in terms of Brendan, Brendan, Brendan.
- 14:32SPEAKER_04: We can't just keep we're not in the business of saying some people on this podcast.
- 14:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm I was about to go into the details of it.
- 14:41SPEAKER_02: So, um, as I was saying before I start calling out names, so on the women's side of it, I'm fully supportive of Onglebert, Trincinetti, and Devad.
- 14:51SPEAKER_02: I think they've had really good years.
- 14:53SPEAKER_02: Obviously, Devad is ridiculous in terms of she's won everything she's been involved in.
- 14:57SPEAKER_02: She's lost, they've lost, well, they didn't lose it, they drew it, but they've won 14 out of 15 games to Dutch this year that she's played in.
- 15:04SPEAKER_02: Um, look at Onglebert, she got best player at the Europeans.
- 15:08SPEAKER_02: Uh, they came second as well, which is obviously where Belgium are kind of pushing towards that second spot in Europe.
- 15:14SPEAKER_02: And then Trincinetti.
- 15:15SPEAKER_02: It's kind of one of those players that has been pretty unbelievable for Argentina again throughout the year.
- 15:19SPEAKER_02: But then you look at, like, for example, Rosie Malone.
- 15:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they won the Oceana Cup and they came third in the Pro League, but like she scored 10 goals, great, but they lost, they lost so many games this year.
- 15:29SPEAKER_02: They only won eight games.
- 15:31SPEAKER_02: And Zimmerman, who's a flicker, only scored six, which I think also is like it's not really impressive.
- 15:36SPEAKER_02: They came fifth in the pro league, third at the Euros.
- 15:39SPEAKER_02: So, like, for me, like I don't know why certain people get voted in and why there's not more Dutch people, for example, on the list.
- 15:46SPEAKER_02: Um, or like I just don't really understand it.
- 15:48SPEAKER_02: And then if you look at the men's wait a minute, wait a minute.
- 15:51SPEAKER_02: Wait a minute.
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: If I can, if I can, if if I can go real quick, what do you want to go, Phil?
- 15:55SPEAKER_04: No, no, no.
- 15:56SPEAKER_04: I was just gonna open it up to you from the women's side.
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like the one thing that I want to like not contradict myself on from last uh week, but like it's also it's a bit of like the eye test kind of thing.
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: So I gotta be honest, I don't watch enough women's hockey other than the Dutch women to really have a verdict on whether someone should be nominated or not in the women's side.
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: I just gotta be completely honest with that.
- 16:21SPEAKER_00: But like, for instance, uh uh I haven't seen play uh Zimmerman play a lot, but if she played a good year, as in if she like stood out on her play, but not on her goals she scored, like she that's like again, I have no opinion on it because I don't know her, but I don't think she should only be based on the amount of games won because it's more of a team kind of thing, if that makes sense.
- 16:44SPEAKER_00: So I I I think I think in winning it, uh, I think you should set set yourself apart, and you cannot be uh on a team that hasn't won anything or hasn't done anything in any league or any any like pro league, whatever.
- 16:59SPEAKER_00: I I think it's tough to be nominated, but I think there is a bit of an eye like the eye test to get nominated, if that makes sense.
- 17:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, I I completely agree on that front.
- 17:08SPEAKER_02: I just think if you're in those positions where you should be influencing the games and you should be influencing it in terms of the score line.
- 17:15SPEAKER_02: So, for example, like in the case of the men's Jeremy Hayward and the case of the women's Zimmerman who flickers, like ultimately, realistically, you should be influencing those games by the fact that you've got a corner in you.
- 17:27SPEAKER_02: In the same way we'd if Harman Priet was on here, you'd be like, Well, he scored 42 goals or whatever this year.
- 17:32SPEAKER_02: Like, you'd actually be like, Yeah, fair, that actually makes a bit of sense.
- 17:34SPEAKER_02: Like, you can reason with it a bit more.
- 17:36SPEAKER_02: Whereas I think if you're in a if you're a defender, for example, and you're not winning that many games, I'd argue that you are you influencing the game as much as you probably should be.
- 17:43SPEAKER_02: And probably that's that's more where I was coming from.
- 17:46SPEAKER_04: And we agreed last week that like there has to be a certain level of success for you to be nominated on this.
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: Like, unless you'd unless you're like, I don't understand, I don't really see a world where like uh an Austrian or yeah, that's the reason that's the main reason and Baehem and Stanzel never got nominated, because I think at a certain point in his career he was the top five in the world, and I'm and I'm willing to vouch for that because I've played with him and he was the best midfielder I've played with to date.
- 18:13SPEAKER_02: Uh and if and spoke when I spoke to the when I joined Harvest Huder out in Germany, they said that Benny Stanzel was when he'd just gone to OR.
- 18:22SPEAKER_02: When I I joined when he'd just gone to OR, and they they all said that he would be best player of the world if he was German because they'd have won something and he'd have obviously been the player that he was, but because they never won anything.
- 18:32SPEAKER_02: That was the argument.
- 18:33SPEAKER_02: Um so yeah, so on the women's side, I just find it I find I feel almost like this is gonna sound really bad, but I think if you're not if you're not even in the running, I don't know why you need to be voted for, if that makes sense.
- 18:44SPEAKER_02: Like I genuinely think there's three players that it should be between, and that and that should just be the three players that get voted, and it's just between three rather than just adding more people onto a list because there's five spots.
- 18:54SPEAKER_02: Do you know what I mean?
- 18:55SPEAKER_04: I had an idea on this, which was you know what they do in the football for the band door, where they like nominate 30 players, and then it actually um rather than it just being down to 10 people on a panel where we don't actually, you know, like we question their authenticity of being able to vote for this instead of them making it such a small pool, they make it a really big pool, and then it kind of gets narrowed down by the players and the fans and the media.
- 19:24SPEAKER_04: So, for example, if you had 30 players, then it would be easy to be like, Well, congratulations to these 30 people, but you know, they'll just get wiped off.
- 19:34SPEAKER_04: Does that make more sense?
- 19:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, 100%.
- 19:37SPEAKER_02: I think I think that actually would work really well.
- 19:39SPEAKER_04: So, I mean, that that was something that I've discussed about with uh with with people, and actually, like again, it just means that maybe you don't miss the people that the panel forget about because there's a chance that 10 people forget about someone, or they maybe haven't, they've got they've got a different take to what players see, what the media see, what fans see.
- 19:59SPEAKER_04: Like you said, it's an eye test.
- 20:01SPEAKER_04: What if they're sat around and they forget to mention someone?
- 20:05SPEAKER_04: That could actually be potentially that could happen.
- 20:08SPEAKER_04: Whereas if you're picking 30, you're very unlikely to miss anyone.
- 20:12SPEAKER_00: Like we're all they did forget someone, yeah.
- 20:16SPEAKER_04: We know we all know, but I'm saying it could be for both sides.
- 20:20SPEAKER_04: There could be uh people ranting and raving that someone from the women's side got missed out as well.
- 20:26SPEAKER_04: But that's an idea for us, so maybe put that out there.
- 20:29SPEAKER_04: Brett uh Brendan, do you want to move on to the men?
- 20:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so uh uh obviously obviously we're kind of this this is this is more where my I think we can probably have a more of a discussion on it because we've watched a lot more and probably been involved in a lot more.
- 20:44SPEAKER_02: Um, I just don't really understand how two of these people have been put in for the votes, if I'm honest with you.
- 20:52SPEAKER_02: Um obviously we've had an extra tournament in the World Cup for the men's side of things in the calendar year, which I assume is being is is part of the voting, but I have no idea.
- 21:01SPEAKER_02: Um for me, like I think this is where it kind of gets a bit skewed.
- 21:05SPEAKER_02: So I think like as we discussed, Brinkman, Zach, and Velen.
- 21:10SPEAKER_02: Um, I think those three players we all agreed should be on the list.
- 21:14SPEAKER_02: Um, I think they've fully deserved their spots.
- 21:16SPEAKER_02: I was going through the wins and things like that and the losses, and actually, between them, like the stats are pretty ridiculous.
- 21:22SPEAKER_02: Obviously, Brinkman, first at the Euros, uh, first in pro league, had third bronze medal at the World Cup.
- 21:29SPEAKER_02: Uh Velen, fourth at the Euros, but uh gold at World Cup, Pro League, yeah, sixth, but Germans that's that's their own thing.
- 21:38SPEAKER_02: Um, but then you got best player at the World Cup as well, which I think is a pretty unbelievable accolade to get in a calendar year.
- 21:44SPEAKER_02: Um and then Zach, uh second place at Euros, which is our best finish for 17 years.
- 21:50SPEAKER_02: Uh World Cup fifth, knocked out in the quarter finals, but then um pro league became second as well, which is pretty uh great from us as a nation.
- 21:58SPEAKER_02: Um so I think that.
- 22:00SPEAKER_02: Three kind of warrant their place.
- 22:02SPEAKER_02: Then we get on to Hardik, which I I genuinely don't really understand.
- 22:06SPEAKER_02: I think it's a bit of bullshit.
- 22:09SPEAKER_02: I don't necessarily think he's one of the best players in the world.
- 22:12SPEAKER_02: I think he don't get me wrong, I think he's great.
- 22:14SPEAKER_02: But do I think he's probably one of the best players in the world?
- 22:16SPEAKER_02: Not really.
- 22:16SPEAKER_02: And I doubt I don't really think the only test they really had was the World Cup.
- 22:20SPEAKER_02: And yeah, he got injured, but actually that's the only real test they've had this year in the calendar year.
- 22:25SPEAKER_02: I don't really count the Asian games and the Asian Champions Trophy as much.
- 22:29SPEAKER_02: They won them, but they should be winning them, so it's not really impressive with the teams they play against.
- 22:34SPEAKER_04: Well, to chime in there, Bren, the the Hardick's an interesting one because again, like I thought we would heavily by I thought the board would heavily bias this on World Cup performances and then like they'd look outside that as well.
- 22:47SPEAKER_04: Hardick, obviously, he got he got injured in the second game of the World Cup, so didn't play any more of that, and they went out in the quarterfinals.
- 22:55SPEAKER_04: Um also I did look this up just because I don't want to write off the Asian Games and the Asian Champions Trophy, but there's only they're the only team ranked in the top eight teams in the world in Asia.
- 23:09SPEAKER_04: So then there's uh Korea 10th, I think, and then someone else, I think Pakistan is 16th or something like that.
- 23:17SPEAKER_04: So again, like you would you would you have to question the how impressive it is for them to win the Asian games, um, and and surely you take that into consideration.
- 23:27SPEAKER_04: Maybe he was unbelievable.
- 23:28SPEAKER_04: We didn't watch, I don't think.
- 23:30SPEAKER_04: So it's hard to say, and I do think he's a very, very, very good player.
- 23:34SPEAKER_04: And if if Harman Priet wasn't getting if it had to an Indian say had to get nominated, I would have said that he would be uh just behind Harman Priet.
- 23:44SPEAKER_02: I so on on that, um they got knocked out in the crossover, so they didn't make the quarterfinals at the World Cup.
- 23:50SPEAKER_02: Um they had to play in that bottom eight playoffs, didn't they?
- 23:54SPEAKER_02: Um but but I I do get where you're coming from.
- 23:57SPEAKER_02: I just don't think but I think I think that's the point.
- 23:59SPEAKER_02: Like we haven't seen him enough on the top stage because they yeah, he got injured, but it's the it's as simple as that.
- 24:06SPEAKER_02: And then in pro league, like they didn't win anything in pro league.
- 24:08SPEAKER_02: Like, I just think I I know your point of oh, if an Indian has to be voted for, but or has to be in there, but they don't have to be in there.
- 24:15SPEAKER_02: That's the bit that pisses me off a bit with it.
- 24:17SPEAKER_00: I just think it's I just think if I can if I can chime out, I just think it's fucking bullshit.
- 24:21SPEAKER_00: I think it's complete and utter bullshit.
- 24:24SPEAKER_00: I the the like the reason um it is even more bullshit, and it's the the is van Albul had one of had had an amazing year, is not even nominated.
- 24:36SPEAKER_00: The the the thing you can say is Belgium had an had an had an off year.
- 24:41SPEAKER_00: That's what that's what will probably come out.
- 24:42SPEAKER_00: Belgium didn't have the greatest year.
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: Belgium got second in the World Cup, they reached the World Cup final, Belgium got third, I think, in Pro League, and Belgium were third at the Europeans, which to any uh average player at any average nation would be an incredible year.
- 24:57SPEAKER_00: I get for the standards for Belgium, it wasn't wasn't wasn't off year because they've won everything in the last years, but he uh he was a main part in their success.
- 25:07SPEAKER_00: They lost the final of the World Cup on shootouts, they were almost back-to-back world champions.
- 25:12SPEAKER_00: So I think that's why they disregard him, which I think is complete and utter bullshit.
- 25:18SPEAKER_00: If you look at Australia, they won the Oceania Cup, which is against New Zealand.
- 25:22SPEAKER_00: The only there, there's no other teams competing in that.
- 25:26SPEAKER_00: Uh, so you cannot even call that a tournament.
- 25:28SPEAKER_00: Uh, they were fourth in the World Cup as a big challenger of Belgium uh to win it.
- 25:34SPEAKER_00: They ended up fourth, which is if you ask them, it was a shit tournament for them, I think.
- 25:40SPEAKER_00: If they don't, they set their bar really low.
- 25:42SPEAKER_00: I don't even know what they finished in Pro League.
- 25:44SPEAKER_00: Seventh.
- 25:46SPEAKER_00: Seventh.
- 25:46SPEAKER_00: Seventh.
- 25:47SPEAKER_00: Seventh.
- 25:48SPEAKER_00: So my question is what have they done?
- 25:51SPEAKER_00: Well, this is my they've done they've done fuck all.
- 25:54SPEAKER_00: They're one of the best countries in the world.
- 25:55SPEAKER_00: They had they had, in my opinion, the off-year.
- 25:58SPEAKER_00: Uh I do think they will come firing at the Olympics because they always do, but they had they had a shit year.
- 26:04SPEAKER_00: So, why don't nominate a Belgian player and why nominate Australia?
- 26:07SPEAKER_00: That's what I don't get.
- 26:08SPEAKER_00: I think Hayward is a good player.
- 26:09SPEAKER_00: I think he is in what you call basketball a really good role player.
- 26:12SPEAKER_00: He has a really good corner, uh, but I don't think he's like the the the the the the chosen first corner of Australia, even because he also has blade covers.
- 26:21SPEAKER_00: Like, no knock on him.
- 26:22SPEAKER_00: I think he has a great corner.
- 26:23SPEAKER_00: He did well in the hoofklas, but I don't think that's the thing.
- 26:25SPEAKER_00: And he's an he's a good defender, but he's not uh, in in my opinion, in contention for greatest in the world, because that's what we're talking about.
- 26:33SPEAKER_00: And I think that has to and and the same with Hardik.
- 26:37SPEAKER_00: I think he's a really good midfielder.
- 26:39SPEAKER_00: But if the main tournament this year is the World Cup, because that that's what we're talking about, that was the main tournament, and maybe we rate the Europeans high because there's a lot of European top teams in there, but uh, I think the World Cup was the main tournament to which we judge things now, and then Hardik was injured.
- 26:55SPEAKER_00: So, how can you even be be considered?
- 26:57SPEAKER_00: That's that's that's fucking ridiculous.
- 27:00SPEAKER_00: Well, what's well Jeremy Hayward?
- 27:01SPEAKER_02: If I'm if I remember rightly, Jeremy Hayward got defender of the tournament at World Cup, and I think that was a bit of a shock to everybody who played in the World Cup, if I'm not mistaken.
- 27:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, okay, then then I then I then from that point of view, probably the the guys or the girls or the people who uh who are in the panel who had to have to choose, I think they look at the accolade and think, oh, he was the best defender, so he should get a nomination.
- 27:26SPEAKER_00: But that's the whole the whole problem with the sport.
- 27:28SPEAKER_00: No, I agree.
- 27:28SPEAKER_04: What's what's really funny about this is how many fullbacks in the world are better than him.
- 27:37SPEAKER_04: So if I was just talking about hockey players, and we're not, and this is the other question that I had for you both was it's not the most valuable player, it's the world's best player.
- 27:48SPEAKER_04: That's what that's what the award is.
- 27:50SPEAKER_04: So because if it's most valuable, then someone like Hendricks or Payat would be incredibly valuable, but we're talking about the best player in the best player in the world, right?
- 28:01SPEAKER_04: I could name, I think I'm just just off the top of my head, I feel like I could name eight to ten better fullbacks in the world than him.
- 28:10SPEAKER_00: So send it.
- 28:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, maybe that's a bit it's a bit that that's a to me, that's maybe a bit on the road side because I think Hayward is a bit of an underrated uh that's fine, that's fine.
- 28:20SPEAKER_04: But I'm entitled to my opinion.
- 28:22SPEAKER_04: I'm just saying in what I rate, he would not make he wouldn't crack my top five fullbacks in the world.
- 28:29SPEAKER_04: Okay, let's go with that.
- 28:30SPEAKER_04: I'll make it nicer for you, you so what who who how are they justifying it?
- 28:35SPEAKER_04: I guess it comes back to Brendan's point.
- 28:38SPEAKER_04: What can you give us any justification other than whoever the hell voted for best defender, which isn't even an award?
- 28:45SPEAKER_04: What the fuck is best defender in the world cup?
- 28:47SPEAKER_04: It's not even a thing.
- 28:48SPEAKER_04: When did they start that?
- 28:50SPEAKER_04: Like, and some remember do you know just close his eyes and point at the nearest bloke to him?
- 28:55SPEAKER_04: It's like, oh, there you go, it's Jeremy Hayward.
- 28:56SPEAKER_04: He's like, Oh, cheers, mate.
- 28:57SPEAKER_02: Oh 10 grand.
- 28:58SPEAKER_02: Do you not remember some of the awards?
- 29:00SPEAKER_02: There was best celebration award at the world cup where people won.
- 29:03SPEAKER_02: I think Koreans won money for celebrating a goal, which are fucking shambles.
- 29:09SPEAKER_02: What a fucking joke.
- 29:11SPEAKER_02: Like, what is that?
- 29:12SPEAKER_02: That's not a thing.
- 29:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah, let's not go over that shit show again because it's been a while.
- 29:17SPEAKER_00: But that I I I I I do think because I'm um I just I just think the the timing of it is completely odd.
- 29:25SPEAKER_00: It's like really, really weird.
- 29:27SPEAKER_00: I I I with with these players, I don't I think I think like in the case of Herbert, because I've played with him and the boss, uh not with him, but I played against him um when he was with the boss.
- 29:40SPEAKER_00: I think he is a he he is a solid player, but that's what I mean.
- 29:43SPEAKER_00: He's a solid player, and because you get on this pedestal now of being nominated as with the five best in the world, because that's what it is, that's what you say, Phil.
- 29:50SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 29:50SPEAKER_00: It's not the most valuable player, it's the best player.
- 29:53SPEAKER_00: I think that's that's a bit much, and especially as I said, with the year Australia had, I think for their standards, because that's why Van Albo probably isn't nominated, because for Belgium standards, they had an off-year, like they were better in every tournament than Australia.
- 30:07SPEAKER_00: So I think it's ridiculous that there's not even one Belgian player nominated, and then I think Van Albo is by far the best.
- 30:13SPEAKER_00: I think that's what enrages me more, is that he's not on there, and that the other two are on there.
- 30:18SPEAKER_00: I think they probably, because I don't see a lot of their games, I think probably they did, they did, they did fine.
- 30:22SPEAKER_00: But how is Van Albo not on here?
- 30:24SPEAKER_04: That's where my idea comes.
- 30:26SPEAKER_04: I was just gonna big up my idea again.
- 30:28SPEAKER_04: Because if you saw Haywood and Hardick on a 30-man shortlist, I wouldn't bat an eyelid.
- 30:34SPEAKER_04: I would be like, you know what, fair enough.
- 30:36SPEAKER_04: They they I think they probably pretty like probably in the top 30 players in the world, I have no problem with that.
- 30:42SPEAKER_04: But that is probably Yupe's ending point, is that putting them in the top five, it just seems wrong.
- 30:48SPEAKER_04: And again, that's probably a nice compliment to them.
- 30:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I I I think like it goes back.
- 30:53SPEAKER_02: I I feel like it goes back to my point though, of like, there's been no explanations to why people get put on this sheet.
- 30:58SPEAKER_02: Like, there's no explanation as to what the award's for.
- 31:01SPEAKER_02: Do you know what I mean?
- 31:02SPEAKER_02: It's literally the star award of men's player of the year, but there's no explanation as to how they win it, why they win it for them, like what's part of the selection process for people to get onto that list of five.
- 31:12SPEAKER_02: Because as you say, like there's a short list, but there must be a longer list initially that they will down, or else that's even weirder process.
- 31:19SPEAKER_02: But for me, like I just don't I have no attachment to it, I have no understanding of the award.
- 31:24SPEAKER_02: And it doesn't help that previously it's been handed out like a fucking back of a cereal box.
- 31:29SPEAKER_02: I just think it's shit.
- 31:30SPEAKER_02: I just think I just don't think it has as much weight to it as it should do because of the way it's been done.
- 31:35SPEAKER_02: And actually, the almost feels quite unprofessional in the way it's kind of dealt with.
- 31:39SPEAKER_02: That's where I roped I completely back up your point of the Ballon d'Or long list.
- 31:43SPEAKER_02: I think that makes so much sense because then you actually you can see who's on the list, you know who's in the top 30, and you know that the people who are actually going to make the vote are people who are in the game now still playing or like still coaching or however the it'd be divvied up.
- 31:57SPEAKER_02: It just makes more sense to me because then it has more weight to it and it actually feels like it's deserved rather than this, where I feel I feel it will be deserved whoever wins it if as long as it's the top three.
- 32:06SPEAKER_02: But like, as you say, when you're missing someone like Van Orbal who actually fucking deserves to be on there, doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever.
- 32:12SPEAKER_02: And kind of the same with you, but infuriates me.
- 32:15SPEAKER_04: And also from last year, like there was a lot of different people on the list last year, because Arthur de Schlover was on there last year, wasn't he?
- 32:22SPEAKER_04: Did he have a bad year?
- 32:24SPEAKER_04: Like, again, he was a really, really good, influential Belgian player.
- 32:28SPEAKER_04: Arthur Van Doren also had a pretty good year, but again, are we just comparing him to old him?
- 32:33SPEAKER_04: Um, anyway, we're gonna have to come back after the break.
- 32:38SPEAKER_04: That's been our awards discussion.
- 32:42SPEAKER_04: Right, we'll just quickly touch on the goalkeeper awards because again, I think we got most of them right.
- 32:49SPEAKER_04: Um, from the women's side, Bartram, Bing, Conning, Coning, Civita, and Sontag got nominated.
- 32:58SPEAKER_04: So, I again just congratulations to you.
- 33:00SPEAKER_04: I don't know if we can go into too much detail about goalkeeping, and then on the men's side, we got a lot of love for our guys.
- 33:07SPEAKER_04: Uh Paino, well done, mate.
- 33:10SPEAKER_04: You got nominated, and Perman again getting nominated.
- 33:12SPEAKER_04: So, players we play with, well done.
- 33:15SPEAKER_04: Uh, alongside Andrew Charter from Australia, Danneberg, Germany, and Van Ash from Belgium.
- 33:21SPEAKER_04: You just said off air, we're not talking about goalies.
- 33:24SPEAKER_04: So, we're not talking about goalies.
- 33:26SPEAKER_04: Congrats to you all.
- 33:27SPEAKER_04: Well done.
- 33:27SPEAKER_00: Okay, I will I will say I will say one thing, but it's to back up the thing we we we all said uh on the other players.
- 33:35SPEAKER_00: This proves to me why it's heavily based on the world's on the world cup and why it's it's ridiculous that like um players who underperformed in the World Cup or even don't didn't perform because they were injured are nominated.
- 33:46SPEAKER_00: Because Pi Min Black was not a goalie at uh at the Europeans because he he got his child, uh didn't play all the games in the pro league because uh they wanted to practice with Mauritz because it was a possibility that Black wasn't there.
- 34:01SPEAKER_00: So uh I think Black is one of the best goalies in the world, but if it's based on his year, he didn't even play like the most uh every game.
- 34:10SPEAKER_00: So that's all I want to say.
- 34:12SPEAKER_00: That's and that's all I want.
- 34:13SPEAKER_00: Like, congrats to all the guys.
- 34:15SPEAKER_00: Um, but that's all I want to say.
- 34:19SPEAKER_04: Fair point, fair point.
- 34:21SPEAKER_04: Um just before Brendan does uh FIFA card, I just wanted to um I did oh it's gonna sound really uh not like narcissistic of me, but I did look back at my stats and that in fairness to them, because we've used some of the stats again from this interactive hockey hub.
- 34:38SPEAKER_04: It's really, really good.
- 34:40SPEAKER_04: Like it's really good.
- 34:41SPEAKER_04: Um Brendan Hughes, huh?
- 34:45SPEAKER_04: Your stats are really really good.
- 34:47SPEAKER_01: No, no, no.
- 34:47SPEAKER_04: Sorry, sorry.
- 34:49SPEAKER_00: The interactive hockey, the L.
- 34:51SPEAKER_01: So value.
- 34:53SPEAKER_01: It's for you.
- 34:54SPEAKER_01: That's really good, Philip.
- 34:56SPEAKER_01: Oh god, hey you come look at my stats.
- 34:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 35:04SPEAKER_00: He's on the closet.
- 35:05SPEAKER_00: Only on Sundays, he's on the closet, right?
- 35:10SPEAKER_04: What I was saying was well done to the FIH because the interactive hockey hub is actually really, really cool.
- 35:16SPEAKER_04: And being able to compare people and look at stats and break it all down is actually fair play.
- 35:21SPEAKER_04: It's really cool.
- 35:22SPEAKER_04: What I was gonna say is yes, it's narcissistic, but I am on 199 caps, you, Brennan.
- 35:26SPEAKER_04: You got it wrong.
- 35:27SPEAKER_04: I noticed two things, you, and this is hilarious, right?
- 35:30SPEAKER_04: Um, my GB record and my England record against Holland.
- 35:34SPEAKER_04: My GB record is played eight, won three, drew two, lost three.
- 35:38SPEAKER_04: Nothing interesting about that.
- 35:39SPEAKER_04: My England record is played 11, lost 10, and drew one.
- 35:47SPEAKER_04: So what a joker.
- 35:49SPEAKER_04: So for GB, so for GB, it's like really quite respectable.
- 35:53SPEAKER_04: You're really quite good, and we've done really well against you.
- 35:56SPEAKER_04: For England, it seems like we've got the yips, and I don't know what's going on.
- 35:59SPEAKER_04: You can't get a win.
- 36:01SPEAKER_04: So, good job.
- 36:02SPEAKER_04: We're playing for GB for the next year.
- 36:05SPEAKER_04: That's good fun.
- 36:06SPEAKER_04: Also, you said I score all my goals against uh English teams tournament or something, and I've my my stats said I score most versus Germany, so fuck you.
- 36:22SPEAKER_00: Uh Phil, I'd like to.
- 36:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah, honestly, honestly, we we've absolutely bashed the FIH.
- 36:28SPEAKER_04: We we bashed the FIH, but fair play.
- 36:30SPEAKER_04: That's good, that's good, good work.
- 36:31SPEAKER_02: Go on, Brendan.
- 36:32SPEAKER_02: I'm defending myself.
- 36:33SPEAKER_02: It was 100% 192 last week.
- 36:35SPEAKER_02: So in the last week, either they've listened to the podcast and updated it, or it's just come through.
- 36:41SPEAKER_02: But it was 100% 192 last week.
- 36:45SPEAKER_04: All good, right.
- 36:46SPEAKER_04: Now I'm over my vainness.
- 36:48SPEAKER_04: Brendan, do you want to do your FIFA card or should we do hockey life?
- 36:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we'll do the FIFA card now.
- 36:53SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah, so once again, I'm doing a female hockey card.
- 36:58SPEAKER_02: Um and this week it will be Xandervard.
- 37:00SPEAKER_02: Now, I actually had a debate with Phil prior to this episode about what to rate her because we were kind of I was kind of struggling a little bit and then yeah, anyway.
- 37:10SPEAKER_02: So overall, I gave her a 93.
- 37:15SPEAKER_02: So if we're talking about like uh Messi in his heyday, this, that, and the other, like basically the top players on the game are normally about a 93, 90, 92, 93, 94 around that bracket.
- 37:24SPEAKER_02: Um, so I went 93, pace 84.
- 37:27SPEAKER_02: She rarely gets outpaced and she's pretty quick off the mark, but I wouldn't say she's like a I want to say Kyrafotuin.
- 37:34SPEAKER_02: Is that how you pronounce her name?
- 37:36SPEAKER_02: Katein?
- 37:38SPEAKER_02: Kira Fortine.
- 37:39SPEAKER_02: Kira Fortine, yeah.
- 37:41SPEAKER_02: So she's obviously like a rapid member of the Dutch side.
- 37:44SPEAKER_02: Um I wouldn't necessarily say she's got that pace, but I'd still say she's pretty quick.
- 37:48SPEAKER_02: Uh shooting 81 doesn't necessarily come out too often, but actually for Sticks on the weekends, she seems to bang in goals.
- 37:55SPEAKER_02: Um, but internationally, not so much, probably because her role's a bit different.
- 37:58SPEAKER_02: Passing 88, it's one of her strong points of a game, I think.
- 38:01SPEAKER_02: And the position she plays, just runs the game for the Dutch.
- 38:04SPEAKER_02: Uh dribble 92, again, pretty damn good at getting out of situations and beating players.
- 38:10SPEAKER_02: Um defending 83, kind of like an all-rounder, really.
- 38:14SPEAKER_02: Like just mops up a lot of stuff for the Dutch national side as well.
- 38:17SPEAKER_02: And then physicality, I went 87.
- 38:20SPEAKER_02: Now I know it's quite high, but I've kind of related it to what she brings and kind of her machine level work rate.
- 38:26SPEAKER_02: Uh alongside actually, she doesn't really get pushed off the ball at all.
- 38:29SPEAKER_02: She's pretty strong.
- 38:30SPEAKER_02: Um, so yeah, so I kind of all ratings quite high, but I'm ready to get some abuse from you boys.
- 38:37SPEAKER_02: I think the pace is low.
- 38:39SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 38:40SPEAKER_00: Uh, because I think she is um one of the she's like deceivingly quick.
- 38:46SPEAKER_00: Um, I don't think she gets like with her.
- 38:50SPEAKER_00: I think sometimes it looks like she's uh yeah, I don't know the saying with on the women's side, but like a man amongst boys, if that makes sense.
- 38:59SPEAKER_00: So she likes she likes she's like way quicker and like way more agile, and the the way she just runs past people sometimes like they're not even there.
- 39:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's effortless, yes, effortless.
- 39:11SPEAKER_00: So it doesn't look like she's not like a right wing who throws the ball in the space, but she's like so quick on the ball.
- 39:16SPEAKER_00: So I would argue the pace is is on the low side.
- 39:20SPEAKER_00: Um I I think the dribble as well, 90 92.
- 39:24SPEAKER_00: I think that's fair.
- 39:25SPEAKER_00: I think the passing is fair.
- 39:27SPEAKER_00: Like she's not one who passed, but her like little um I don't really say stake ball, but like a little through balls, like the the small little as again.
- 39:35SPEAKER_00: She's a bit like not exactly like Cherry, but it's like the same as with Cherry that she's not if you look at a lot of individual stats, she might not be the greatest, but she has a lot of really strong suits.
- 39:46SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 39:46SPEAKER_04: Let's do hockey life.
- 39:50SPEAKER_03: Am I doing it?
- 39:51SPEAKER_04: Or what hockey life hockey life?
- 39:57SPEAKER_04: Who's got one?
- 39:59SPEAKER_00: You got one, Phil.
- 40:00SPEAKER_00: Go on, son.
- 40:02SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 40:03SPEAKER_04: I'll go with my hockey life is not like uh how hockey's amateur, but how it's really strange at times.
- 40:10SPEAKER_04: So basically, I don't think there's many jobs or sports where you basically have to train as a 30-man squad um or woman's squad.
- 40:20SPEAKER_04: Um, train with each other, become best friends, have really close relationships, but every single day you compete each other with each other to get selected for a 16-man squad for an Olympic Games.
- 40:31SPEAKER_04: You then go off on weekends, play against each other, fall out, come back, go for coffee together, be friends, go back onto the training pitch, sometimes fall out.
- 40:43SPEAKER_04: I think it's a really strange dynamic.
- 40:45SPEAKER_04: And I was talking with Brendan about it the other day about how basically you're forced to be really, really good at compartmentalizing friendships.
- 40:53SPEAKER_04: Um, a good example is like me and Brendan fall out a lot on the on the pitch, like we all compete against each other, like we've talked about recently.
- 41:03SPEAKER_04: I I boosted him to the ground and then told him where to go.
- 41:07SPEAKER_04: And then you have to be able to walk off the pitch and then be really, really good friends with someone again.
- 41:13SPEAKER_04: It's a really, really strange dynamic.
- 41:14SPEAKER_04: And I thought when I realized this, uh, whenever it was, I realized that I don't think many people or many even other athletes have to do that.
- 41:25SPEAKER_04: What are your guys' takes?
- 41:27SPEAKER_00: Well, first, I thought I was your best friend, but I'll let that slide.
- 41:34SPEAKER_00: Second, I think it's a very good point.
- 41:37SPEAKER_00: Um, I do like I I I tried to be friends with you, Philip, at the at the European Cup final, and you completely ignored me.
- 41:46SPEAKER_00: Lost sleep over it for like a week or two because you yeah, you I thought we were best mates.
- 41:52SPEAKER_00: Um, but I get your point.
- 41:53SPEAKER_00: I think it's very tough to like be in competition with each other while also trying to achieve something together.
- 41:59SPEAKER_00: Um, like you you have to fight for your spot with national team, for instance, but on the other hand, you're also mates with the guy you're competing with.
- 42:08SPEAKER_00: So um, yeah, I think that's a weird dynamic, and I don't think there's a lot of sports in it.
- 42:12SPEAKER_00: I think like football is the closest closest to it, to which people like players play a Champions League final, and a month after they have to play a World Cup together, for instance.
- 42:22SPEAKER_00: Um, so I think that's that's that's pretty much the same.
- 42:25SPEAKER_00: I think but because it's more budget, our sport is more budget, uh, I think that makes it like even weirder.
- 42:33SPEAKER_02: I think also like yeah, I think we've all been there when the selection pressures come in.
- 42:38SPEAKER_02: I think that's when you really find out how close you are to people or how like how hard it is to compartmentalize because obviously there's a new stressor that's attached to it.
- 42:47SPEAKER_02: So, like World Cup selection, whatever it is, euro selection for us coming up or recently it's like it's like that pressure of coming towards the pro league and the Olympic qualifiers.
- 42:56SPEAKER_02: That that pressure really does add to it and add to that like compartmentalizing challenge that is like, can you be mates whilst pushing, whilst competing?
- 43:06SPEAKER_02: And that's the I think that's what's really difficult.
- 43:09SPEAKER_02: And because we train as a national team, it's the one time where you well, it's the one place that you can't transfer, you can't go away from unless you're certain individuals and moving away from your national team.
- 43:20SPEAKER_02: It's pretty difficult.
- 43:21SPEAKER_02: Um, and that for me is like the hardest bit of our job is the fact that we spend a lot of time within the national team stuff, and it's probably the same for you, you, on that front.
- 43:29SPEAKER_02: It's I think it's a unique dynamic that I don't think other sports will ever really get close to because it's a club environment you can transfer, like if it's football or basketball or whatever it is, like there's an opportunity to move, whereas ultimately we don't have that option internationally, and that's the pinnacle of our game on that front.
- 43:46SPEAKER_02: I think that's where it becomes really difficult.
- 43:47SPEAKER_02: So yeah, I feel it's a real unique one.
- 43:50SPEAKER_02: I think.
- 43:50SPEAKER_04: I guess if anyone else out there listeners have any hockey life examples, I mean we'll kill keep cracking on and doing them, but um yeah.
- 44:00SPEAKER_04: Send them in.
- 44:00SPEAKER_04: Okay, I'm going.
- 44:01SPEAKER_04: Less time.
- 44:02SPEAKER_04: In the coop.
- 44:05SPEAKER_00: You wanna go?
- 44:06SPEAKER_00: I see your eagerness to go in the coop, Philip.
- 44:08SPEAKER_00: Well, for you, Philip, we'll go into the coop.
- 44:13SPEAKER_00: I'll I'll answer your prayers to go more into the coop.
- 44:19SPEAKER_01: Did you say prayers?
- 44:21SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 44:22SPEAKER_00: Okay, cool.
- 44:22SPEAKER_00: Just checking.
- 44:23SPEAKER_00: Because I'm the coop god.
- 44:26SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 44:28SPEAKER_00: Question number one.
- 44:31SPEAKER_00: Which player is the most overrated right now in men's hockey?
- 44:37SPEAKER_02: Uh Hardik Singh.
- 44:39SPEAKER_02: Been there, done that.
- 44:40SPEAKER_02: Next one.
- 44:43SPEAKER_05: Really?
- 44:44SPEAKER_02: No.
- 44:46SPEAKER_02: Maybe.
- 44:49SPEAKER_00: Maybe.
- 44:51SPEAKER_00: The most overrated.
- 44:53SPEAKER_00: Is there like a player for you guys that everyone always says, ah, he's so good, he's so good.
- 44:58SPEAKER_00: And then you play against him and say, he's not all that.
- 45:02SPEAKER_02: I here's a funny one for you.
- 45:04SPEAKER_02: I used to think Van Doren was overrated.
- 45:06SPEAKER_02: And then lo and behold, I found out that he's pretty unbelievable.
- 45:10SPEAKER_02: This was me being like really naively arrogant.
- 45:12SPEAKER_02: And then I found out that he was genuinely unbelievable and got put really, really aggressively back in my place.
- 45:18SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah, I'm gonna stick with Hardik Singh.
- 45:22SPEAKER_02: He shouldn't be on the list.
- 45:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so I I I I have one as well because Phil is is struggling a bit.
- 45:31SPEAKER_00: You know, I think he's a little bit overrated.
- 45:34SPEAKER_00: I don't know if the most, but I think uh Felix Naeg is a little bit overrated.
- 45:40SPEAKER_00: He is a really, really good hockey player, but it also maybe because of his his social media and his like that he's so out there.
- 45:49SPEAKER_00: Um captain of the Belgium team.
- 45:51SPEAKER_00: I don't know, being captain doesn't mean you're the best player, like far from it.
- 45:55SPEAKER_00: But like he is he, yeah.
- 45:57SPEAKER_00: I don't know like what what does he bring that others don't at the Belgium team?
- 46:02SPEAKER_00: Like, I maybe he's he's the type of player like aims or like that you have to play with him to know how good he is, and he's so much experienced that maybe that makes a difference.
- 46:12SPEAKER_00: But I've never really played against him.
- 46:13SPEAKER_00: To which I was like left the field, and I was like, whoa, Denier was really, really good.
- 46:19SPEAKER_00: And I think he has the status of like one of the best in the world for quite a while already.
- 46:24SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, yeah, I don't really see that.
- 46:28SPEAKER_00: So he's not yeah, like don't get me wrong, he's far from a bad player, and then when he once he retires, he's like probably will go down as one of the best Belgian players.
- 46:36SPEAKER_00: Um, but I don't I don't know if he's that if that makes sense.
- 46:40SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it makes sense.
- 46:40SPEAKER_04: It's a really good one.
- 46:42SPEAKER_04: It's a really good one.
- 46:43SPEAKER_04: You've you've you've nailed that one.
- 46:45SPEAKER_04: I wish you'd given us some time on this one, like you normally do.
- 46:48SPEAKER_00: Well, Phil, last time I gave you some time and you said you didn't even think about it.
- 46:53SPEAKER_00: So I thought, you know what?
- 46:54SPEAKER_00: Fuck you.
- 46:55SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna I'm gonna just surprise you with this one.
- 46:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I thought you'd go for like an Australian or something, Philip.
- 47:02SPEAKER_04: I'm trying, I'm trying to think of one, but I can't think of one.
- 47:06SPEAKER_04: I don't want to see.
- 47:07SPEAKER_04: What a pity.
- 47:07SPEAKER_04: Let's move let's move on.
- 47:09SPEAKER_04: Sorry, sorry, sorry.
- 47:10SPEAKER_04: Lackland sharp.
- 47:12SPEAKER_04: I think he gets he he he gets a lot of love, and I've seen quite a lot of people be like, oh, he's really good.
- 47:19SPEAKER_04: Every time I've played him, I've been like, hmm.
- 47:22SPEAKER_04: Obviously, you're a good player if you can get into the Australia team, but there's there's there was some hype there that I was like, nah, I'm not having this.
- 47:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, as in like the reincarnation of Jamie Dwyer and shit, wearing number one.
- 47:35SPEAKER_00: Like I think especially like same for people in Holland who start to wear number 14.
- 47:39SPEAKER_00: I'm always like a bit that is that is like the Noy, you know, that is like the the goat of hockey, and you start wearing his number.
- 47:47SPEAKER_00: You gotta be there's pretty big shoes to fill.
- 47:49SPEAKER_00: So I kind of get that one.
- 47:50SPEAKER_00: It was not on my like list or anything, but I get I get that.
- 47:54SPEAKER_00: Did you have a list?
- 47:55SPEAKER_00: Did you no, but like my hit list in my head.
- 47:59SPEAKER_00: I did not have a list.
- 48:00SPEAKER_00: I have I have one list, and those are all my coop questions, which are like sacred with a password, and like holy.
- 48:10SPEAKER_04: I'm desperately trying to think of more because I swear there's such a good question about like who people hype up, but you don't you don't have a you don't have like a that high opinion of them.
- 48:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that there is like certain people, like for instance for me, uh sometimes uh Christopher Ruhr was a bit overrated because I was always like it's not that he's that he's a bad player, but sometimes people act like he's the best striker the the German team had while Niklaus Weller was in the same team.
- 48:41SPEAKER_00: So I was always like, yeah, uh he's really like some in sometimes in big games he kind of disappeared and you don't really see him.
- 48:48SPEAKER_00: So I was always like, yeah, he is like, don't get me wrong, he's an incredible player, uh, who's done like really incredible shit on a hockey field.
- 48:56SPEAKER_00: But like sometimes people hide players as like the best in the world.
- 48:59SPEAKER_00: So like that was also the reason if John Zondoma never got best player in the world uh in his career.
- 49:05SPEAKER_00: I would have never said that he was overrated because he's a really good hockey player.
- 49:08SPEAKER_00: You don't play 400 how many caps if you're not a good hockey player, but because he gets the title of being the best in the world, you're like, Yeah, that's the definition of being overrated.
- 49:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's true.
- 49:19SPEAKER_04: That's actually also a really good one.
- 49:21SPEAKER_00: And which player, uh yeah, hard egg, hard penis.
- 49:25SPEAKER_00: Which which player is the most underrated right now?
- 49:29SPEAKER_00: Because like I feel like some players we named as being underrated have now been properly rated.
- 49:34SPEAKER_00: Because I can still say like Jonas de Goes is the most over underrated player, but I think people are saying he's underrated for like two years now, that and he's now on the level of being rated properly, if that makes sense.
- 49:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's fair.
- 49:49SPEAKER_00: Again, a question I maybe could have sent to you guys, but since you don't really pay attention to it, I'll um I'll go.
- 49:56SPEAKER_02: Um for me, and this is more like position related, um, because because of how good Van Orble is, I think Cedric Charlier goes under the radar.
- 50:09SPEAKER_02: I think I actually think he's a really fucking good centre forward.
- 50:14SPEAKER_02: Uh he hits the ball so hard, and I think if you give him space, he can find the bot, he can find the corners pretty pretty damn well.
- 50:21SPEAKER_02: I actually think he's I think he's a bit underrated, but mainly because of what's around him that you kind of almost forget about him a little bit.
- 50:28SPEAKER_02: Um, and then unfortunately, when you remember it's too late type thing.
- 50:31SPEAKER_02: So for me, I think he's actually underrated because I just think he's really good.
- 50:35SPEAKER_02: World Cup, yes.
- 50:38SPEAKER_00: Post-World Cup, I don't agree.
- 50:41SPEAKER_00: My opinion.
- 50:42SPEAKER_00: I think he was really good at the World Cup, but I feel like uh Pro League European Cup, he wasn't himself, if if that makes sense.
- 50:51SPEAKER_00: But I do think it's a really good one, as in like it's a player you don't talk, we don't talk about a lot, but it's a player who's done a lot for Belgium.
- 50:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I'll go with uh James Albury.
- 51:05SPEAKER_04: I think because he missed because he missed a lot of caps and he doesn't have a lot of caps.
- 51:10SPEAKER_04: I think it's one of those things where for some reason you have to go through some rite of passage of having played over, I don't know, I reckon it's probably like 100 caps for people to start taking you seriously.
- 51:20SPEAKER_04: And unless you're like really, really special.
- 51:24SPEAKER_04: And um the difference that he's made since he came in back into the team after after Tokyo, uh there should be a lot more people talking about him.
- 51:33SPEAKER_04: I think he's been pretty unbelievable.
- 51:36SPEAKER_02: I think what's also I think what's also impressive about Orbs is the fact that he's done it all whilst working.
- 51:44SPEAKER_02: So he's been working like as a P teacher, basically.
- 51:48SPEAKER_02: So as a as a sports teacher at a school and kind of just going about his business, just basically getting better, and kind of then taking the opportunity when it comes in, when it came across to him.
- 51:57SPEAKER_02: And I think that's arguably what's I think the most impressive thing about it is the fact that he's kind of had the setback, got on with the setback, and kind of just got on with life and kind of cracked on, still improving, and has taken his chance and has taken it with both hands.
- 52:11SPEAKER_02: And I agree with you, ropes.
- 52:12SPEAKER_02: I think he's been pretty unbelievable.
- 52:15SPEAKER_04: And I think that will be um people will start to notice him on the world stage in the next year or two.
- 52:20SPEAKER_04: That's my prediction.
- 52:23SPEAKER_00: I do I do get it.
- 52:24SPEAKER_00: I got I have two things.
- 52:26SPEAKER_00: Um, three three things.
- 52:28SPEAKER_00: I have three things about this one.
- 52:30SPEAKER_00: One is for me, being on the red over it has nothing to do with your personal life, to be honest, Brendan.
- 52:35SPEAKER_00: I don't give a shit if he works, I don't give a shit whatever what he does next is only judge him on hockey.
- 52:40SPEAKER_00: Like, for me, that has nothing to do with being a hockey player, but maybe I maybe I took it completely wrong, the point you made.
- 52:47SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry, I see you're already getting on the closet, but that's that's just my opinion.
- 52:51SPEAKER_00: You can respond in a second.
- 52:52SPEAKER_00: Two, I really, really like him.
- 52:55SPEAKER_00: He's like a really good guy.
- 52:56SPEAKER_00: I always have fun with him after the game on the pitch, and I think he would we would he would make for a great golf partner.
- 53:02SPEAKER_00: But three, you know why I think he's maybe underrated because and you think he's underrated because you play with him, but I don't rate him as high, as pure as a hockey player, because he's not a player who he probably changes the game when you play with him, but I've I've never noticed him as like uh uh being out there, if that makes sense.
- 53:22SPEAKER_00: He doesn't have he's really good in like the short passing as a center back, he's not one who like tracks in a lot, as in like he doesn't set people make people free in front of the goal, like he's not decisive yet, if that makes sense.
- 53:35SPEAKER_00: So, like the Slover, Artie van Doren, uh Dawson.
- 53:39SPEAKER_00: There were players who could like with passing that would make a highlight real every once in a while.
- 53:44SPEAKER_00: So, like Van Dore has like the six skip passes, or like tracks in, and people don't notice the little shit he does, but like that's what stands out, what makes people think you're really good.
- 53:52SPEAKER_00: I think the level he could add to his game, uh like maybe he's like he's really steady, but like maybe he could get a little like get more risk in his game, if that makes sense.
- 54:03SPEAKER_00: Like, I don't see that when I play against him, that he has that as well in his in his package.
- 54:08SPEAKER_04: I think that's fair, but I also my response will be watch this space.
- 54:13SPEAKER_04: I think my prediction, my my my prediction is that you will notice him in the next two years.
- 54:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, okay, fair.
- 54:20SPEAKER_00: That's what on the rate.
- 54:22SPEAKER_00: I think maybe he's he's on the verge of breaking through his his glass ceiling he made for himself.
- 54:29SPEAKER_00: Hey, see what I did there?
- 54:31SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
- 54:32SPEAKER_00: Okay, I I I also had one, and I think you guys will not agree, but I what I think Derek de Vilder is really underrated.
- 54:39SPEAKER_00: And I think, yeah, I already see your face.
- 54:42SPEAKER_00: I know you the guys don't like him in England, uh, but I think he's really, really good.
- 54:47SPEAKER_00: He's uh I think he lost European Cup, he was one of our best players, uh, and that in the midfield with Jonas de Goos and Jochit Kro.
- 54:54SPEAKER_00: And he's also a player I think you have to play with uh to notice how good he is.
- 54:58SPEAKER_00: He's really smart, always in the right spot, runs a lot and a lot of good meters.
- 55:03SPEAKER_00: Um, I think he's really underrated.
- 55:06SPEAKER_00: Uh Phil, are you going or am I going?
- 55:10SPEAKER_04: No, no, no.
- 55:11SPEAKER_04: I was actually gonna respond seriously and say you respond.
- 55:14SPEAKER_04: I I I hate to do this, but you're probably right.
- 55:19SPEAKER_04: I mean, yeah, I I I won't say anymore.
- 55:21SPEAKER_04: I think he is a really good player, and actually he created some really, really top stuff in the last year, and he's he has I think he's improved a lot.
- 55:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I think it's different because you have a sometimes we all make our our beds and we decide that people are rubbish or we decide people are good.
- 55:37SPEAKER_04: And the thing that people a lot of fans I think forget is that you you can be shit and then you can be good.
- 55:43SPEAKER_04: And I think I I was I for the first three years of my international career, I was terrible.
- 55:48SPEAKER_04: I I really didn't add anything to a game, and I was terrible.
- 55:52SPEAKER_04: I would say now people might consider me to be half decent player, and that's what I think you can get a people can have this confirmation bias about people, and suddenly that's it for the next 10 years 10 years, they're just that's who they are, and uh it's flexible.
- 56:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he is he is like one of the smartest midfielders I've played with in like how he positions himself, and especially me as a center back who looks for him a lot with my passing.
- 56:16SPEAKER_00: Like he's always in the like the good spots, and I can always receive a ball, like the little smart passes in between and stuff.
- 56:22SPEAKER_00: So yeah, I think he's really underrated, but I get um your guys' thoughts as well.
- 56:28SPEAKER_00: Did you want to chime in, Brendan, or can I go to my last question in my coop?
- 56:32SPEAKER_00: I was only gonna agree with Phil.
- 56:33SPEAKER_00: Crack on.
- 56:34SPEAKER_00: Well done, Brendan.
- 56:36SPEAKER_00: The final question in the coop.
- 56:39SPEAKER_00: It's a it's a it's a bit of an odd one, but that's the coop.
- 56:43SPEAKER_00: If you could have one thing for free for the rest of your life, what would it be?
- 56:49SPEAKER_00: So, as an example, would you have gas for free or food or uh plane tickets or shit like that?
- 56:59SPEAKER_00: Like what would or fulfill maybe like diapers for his kids, or like what would something be that you want for free for the rest of your life?
- 57:08SPEAKER_04: That's a terrible example.
- 57:10SPEAKER_00: I know, but fuck you.
- 57:14SPEAKER_04: I go can I change your can I change your question instantly?
- 57:17SPEAKER_04: Can it be what free food specific food would you want for free for the rest of your life?
- 57:25SPEAKER_04: Because you've got to choose a food that you really like, but you you need to want it again and again to get the value of having it for free.
- 57:33SPEAKER_00: Okay, good.
- 57:34SPEAKER_00: Okay, let's do that.
- 57:35SPEAKER_00: I've got I give you permission to change the question in the coop.
- 57:39SPEAKER_00: You're not you're not my like my cock like what, but you're the the cock's cock.
- 57:44SPEAKER_00: Hold on, Philip.
- 57:45SPEAKER_00: You add it to the coop.
- 57:46SPEAKER_01: I'm assistant to the cock's cock.
- 57:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 57:50SPEAKER_01: Not assistant cock, but you're assistant to the cock.
- 57:53SPEAKER_01: Uh I've got three options.
- 57:57SPEAKER_02: You can always work out.
- 57:58SPEAKER_02: I'm trying to work out three options.
- 58:00SPEAKER_02: Uh, pizza, chicken, or bread.
- 58:04SPEAKER_02: They're the three things I'm trying to do.
- 58:06SPEAKER_02: No, no, no, no, no.
- 58:06SPEAKER_04: No, bring us to bring us specific.
- 58:10SPEAKER_04: Fine.
- 58:10SPEAKER_01: In which case I've got a choice of pizza.
- 58:12SPEAKER_01: It's pepperoni pizza.
- 58:13SPEAKER_01: If you're fine, then in which case.
- 58:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 58:16SPEAKER_01: Hold on, hold on.
- 58:17SPEAKER_02: In which case is between pepperoni pizza, chicken thighs, and bagels.
- 58:22SPEAKER_02: They're the three things that I reckon I have the most in my life out of food.
- 58:26SPEAKER_02: Uh, I've got to go chicken thighs because it's the most expensive one.
- 58:31SPEAKER_04: Brendan, you you've made an interesting quest in boring.
- 58:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 58:42SPEAKER_03: I don't know now.
- 58:43SPEAKER_03: Now I've got to say something interesting.
- 58:48SPEAKER_00: I want to watch you squirm.
- 58:50SPEAKER_00: So I'm I'm going, I'm going with because I could eat that every night if I wanted to.
- 58:55SPEAKER_00: I'm going with um a fried chicken burger.
- 59:00SPEAKER_00: So like a really nice fried chicken, like fried chicken.
- 59:03SPEAKER_00: Phil's fuming because that was Phil's option.
- 59:05SPEAKER_00: Like Nashville chicken, like the like the really, you know, the the fried chicken is still juicy on the inside.
- 59:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I wouldn't say I wouldn't say Nashville is the way I describe it, but I know what you mean.
- 59:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 59:15SPEAKER_00: Look it up, mate.
- 59:17SPEAKER_00: Look it up.
- 59:18SPEAKER_00: Oh, Phil?
- 59:19SPEAKER_01: And then with like nice sauce on it, and oh, that that's what I'd go with.
- 59:23SPEAKER_01: Ah, see, you've limited yourself though to only that.
- 59:26SPEAKER_01: You can't have any other form of chicken that for free.
- 59:28SPEAKER_01: Do you mean I don't give a shit?
- 59:30SPEAKER_01: I made my bet.
- 59:32SPEAKER_01: Now I like it.
- 59:32SPEAKER_02: Now we're lying it.
- 59:34SPEAKER_01: Can we remove Brendan from this call?
- 59:36SPEAKER_01: Is it possible?
- 59:37SPEAKER_01: No, I'm in charge of the call.
- 59:39SPEAKER_01: Phil, come on, what are you choosing?
- 59:40SPEAKER_01: Just out of interest with your really interesting food option.
- 59:43SPEAKER_03: Oh believe coffee.
- 59:45SPEAKER_03: I can't believe you just said that.
- 59:47SPEAKER_03: That's absolutely screwed me over.
- 59:50SPEAKER_03: Um choose the same thing if you want, Phil.
- 59:53SPEAKER_03: No, because I can't, can I?
- 59:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because you're boring.
- 59:57SPEAKER_01: I thought what if you would go for tea?
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_01: No, you said food.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's a drink, but fuck it.
- 1:00:04SPEAKER_01: Biscuits is up there for Phil though.
- 1:00:07SPEAKER_04: Oh just bake well tarts, just all just all the time.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_01: They're actually so good.
- 1:00:15SPEAKER_03: That is essentially British.
- 1:00:19SPEAKER_03: I was gonna be so specific about a chicken burger, and then you went in there and I was like, oh fuck, right, okay, we'll do what we're doing here.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_00: Well, I I still thought so.
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_00: Can I think I had a really good good question on with like what else?
- 1:00:34SPEAKER_00: Like, what would you get for free?
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_00: Like plain tickets or shit would be less boring than Brendan saying.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_00: I already forgot what you said with food or chicken thighs.
- 1:00:43SPEAKER_02: Come on, you come on then.
- 1:00:44SPEAKER_02: What would you go for if it was something free?
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_00: No, I'm I'm the hey, listen, I don't appreciate you two taking over my coop.
- 1:00:53SPEAKER_00: It's it's it's me and the cocks and the chickens, and it's not you two who boss me around in my fucking.
- 1:00:59SPEAKER_01: Can I not be one of your cocks?
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_01: You can be my cock, brother.
- 1:01:04SPEAKER_04: I want to go back to the overrated question.
- 1:01:07SPEAKER_04: Oh, because I want to say any flicker ever.
- 1:01:12SPEAKER_02: Oh, as a man who dabbles in the old dibbly dobblers down the middle.
- 1:01:18SPEAKER_04: Not power pushing, not power pushing, just just flickers.
- 1:01:22SPEAKER_04: Oh god, they always get a name for themselves.
- 1:01:24SPEAKER_04: They're never as good as people think they are.
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_04: Every flicker ever is overrated.
- 1:01:28SPEAKER_04: There you go, that's my take.
- 1:01:30SPEAKER_00: Well done, Christopher Zeller.
- 1:01:31SPEAKER_00: You're an overrated striker with most goals ever scored by a guy.
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_00: Fuck you.
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_00: Okay, I think that was it for the coup right now.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_00: I think uh no six-year-olds were hurt this time, which is a win.
- 1:01:46SPEAKER_00: Um, and and next time I'll because it was an experiment.
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_00: I tried to to make them think on the spot, but as you lovely lovely listeners now know what I have to work with, they're incapable of it.
- 1:01:59SPEAKER_00: So see you next week in the coupe.
- 1:02:03SPEAKER_04: No, we're back in.
- 1:02:04SPEAKER_04: I've got questions in the coupe.
- 1:02:05SPEAKER_00: Oh, lovely.
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_03: I'm joking.
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_03: I'm joking, I'm joking.
- 1:02:07SPEAKER_00: Oh, I wasn't genuinely happy with you contributing to the coupe, but next time please discuss with the coupe master himself.
- 1:02:14SPEAKER_00: The coop master general.
- 1:02:17SPEAKER_00: The coop master general.
- 1:02:19SPEAKER_04: We we are actually gonna have to end the episode early.
- 1:02:21SPEAKER_04: It's not early, but we're gonna have to end the episode.
- 1:02:24SPEAKER_04: It's been it's been I don't know what I can say about this episode without the other two getting angry at me.
- 1:02:30SPEAKER_04: Uh we've all been on the closet at some point, um, which normally is normally is quite a good sign, but um I haven't interested.
- 1:02:38SPEAKER_00: What's a bit serious though?
- 1:02:41SPEAKER_00: We had a lot of serious chat, and that's not my strong suit.
- 1:02:46SPEAKER_04: No, I would say just a couple of ways to sign out, and this is what I want more of is that Dave Goodfield has messaged me whilst we've been recording this, and he just said 3v3 into one goal is probably the worst idea I've ever heard.
- 1:03:02SPEAKER_04: So I agree with that.
- 1:03:07SPEAKER_02: What I really like about is good as is a real like closet listener.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and and what I was gonna say to the listeners is please send in your feedback.
- 1:03:17SPEAKER_04: I ask for it a lot, but I am genuine.
- 1:03:19SPEAKER_04: Like, we want to know.
- 1:03:20SPEAKER_04: Have you enjoyed it?
- 1:03:21SPEAKER_04: Have you not?
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_04: Do you like the serious stuff?
- 1:03:23SPEAKER_04: Do you not like the serious stuff?
- 1:03:24SPEAKER_04: Do you think we're talking a lot of bollocks?
- 1:03:26SPEAKER_04: Do you think you want to hear more from Brendan?
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_04: You know, that's an that is a rhetorical question.
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_04: But as I said, please get in touch and tell us what you think.
- 1:03:36SPEAKER_04: Uh thank you, goodness.
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_04: He also said many offensive things about Brendan, which I'm not going to repeat on the podcast.
- 1:03:41SPEAKER_04: Um, but even though Brendan has selected him for his 3v3 tournament, but that's how we go.
- 1:03:49SPEAKER_04: This has been Let's Stick Together, brought to you by Y1.
- 1:03:52SPEAKER_04: This has been episode nine.
- 1:03:54SPEAKER_04: We will see you in a week or two.
- 1:03:56SPEAKER_04: Um, we need to work it out because we're all in Argentina, so uh catch you on the on the other side.
- 1:04:02SPEAKER_00: Well, I'm not I'm not, so maybe I'll do I'll do an episode just by myself.
- 1:04:06SPEAKER_00: Is the reason everyone listens either way, so we're killing lovely guys.
