- 0:21autism and they may come across as you know, typically high
- 0:24functioning. We don't really use functioning
- 0:25labels but that's typically what people would probably say you
- 0:28know you're gonna run make food stuff but there are things that
- 0:30you don't see like hidden things that every 10 address.
- 0:33So I've kind of listed out five the main issues that people on
- 0:36the autism spectrum who have a low support needs kind of face
- 0:39challenges every single day like these.
- 0:41So let's get into it guys. What's up?

- 0:58Okay, so going through my list, these are the things that I feel
- 1:01that autistic people don't present on the outside.
- 1:04These are things that affect them on the inside and so much.
- 1:08So that people forget that these hidden issues that people with
- 1:12Autism, are struggling, with every single day because you see
- 1:14someone on the autism spectrum and you kind of think.
- 1:17Oh, well then, you know, In find a doing gray.
- 1:20You know the girls career you got some kids that but there's
- 1:23loads of other things are going on.
- 1:24So the first one I want to talk about here is fear now.
- 1:27Autistic people are extremely fearful of busy places, holiday
- 1:30events, and social events. Gigs anything that you go to is
- 1:34not going to a pub, right? For a meal could seem like a
- 1:37typical thing, but the fear of going to a pub for on.
- 1:40So sick person is overwhelming because there are so many social
- 1:43interactions that may take place.
- 1:44There's so many choices that are outside of the comfort zone, you
- 1:47got to take into consideration sensory.
- 1:49Some disorder, the smells that the, the texture, the heat, the
- 1:53the temperature you're sitting on what you're going to wait and
- 1:55we call those hides and warm inside, all of these things and
- 1:57Compass difficulty for people on the autism spectrum to actually
- 2:01go out and do something, which is basically the fear of wanting
- 2:04to go out and do something. So the people who who are on the
- 2:07autism spectrum, we don't go out.
- 2:09It's because they're fearful a lot of people would say that,
- 2:11you know, when I was growing up little said, I'll come to this
- 2:13birthday party, you know, your best friends on a bit about,
- 2:15you're not going to come, I'm like, oh, you know, they don't
- 2:17want to go and it is and I was fearful of it.
- 2:19But Sort of being people who just like you are arrogant, or
- 2:21you didn't care about that person.
- 2:22Which is kind of like a understand where they're coming
- 2:24from, but the same time, I'm like, it's like, come on, really
- 2:27this your friend because their faith or something.
- 2:30This is the stuff that people don't see, it's very important.
- 2:32Fear is probably the number one and the most important one
- 2:34you've listened to in this whole video.
- 2:36Okay? So the next one.
- 2:37Number two is anxiety crippling anxiety.
- 2:40That may lead to burnout shutdowns and probably
- 2:41eventually a meltdown. What is it going to videos?
- 2:44I have so much anxiety, like they get anxious over the fact
- 2:48that they may work. Look Billy may be anxious that
- 2:50we're going to play. I just want to eat today and
- 2:52just about to close up on today because of how they brush their
- 2:55teeth today. And there's a bunch of OCD is
- 2:57that come up with autism and other types of stuff that will
- 2:59also create an anxiety for you. Doing anything in your typical
- 3:03day. So, anxiety, again, is something
- 3:06that is not self or physically presenting.
- 3:09You can just look over here that person suffering with a lot of
- 3:12anxiety right now, but something is happening on the inside and
- 3:15eventually it could lead to burnout or shutdown or even a
- 3:18big meltdown. A person could feel completely
- 3:20just like garbage which is really really interesting and
- 3:24it's always good to remember because if you're looking after
- 3:28autistic person, these are the things that you kind of that are
- 3:30affecting them that you don't see and because you don't see
- 3:33them York. They're not at the Forefront of
- 3:34your mind. You kind of like dead at the
- 3:36secondary idea. So always keep us at the
- 3:38Forefront in mind when dealing with an autistic person that
- 3:41these things are going on inside as well.
- 3:42So just have a little bit more kind of like I don't care
- 3:44understanding for these things. Okay, so number three is a GI
- 3:48issues or gasps. Oh, Intestinal issues and this
- 3:50could be stuff like there is a bowel syndrome.
- 3:52You know, autistic individuals will suffer mainly from g.i.
- 3:57issues issues with like constipation or or you know,
- 4:01irritable bowel syndrome and having to go to the toilet a lot
- 4:03more or less than other people feel really uncomfortable,
- 4:05feeling bloated, and all this kind of stuff, you know.
- 4:07It also depends on like the food you eat and how it affects you.
- 4:10A lot of the earth Studios do have Crohn's disease as well.
- 4:13So there are a bunch of different things are going on
- 4:15there, inside a body of an autistic person that you don't
- 4:18see any outside and You know, you're probably wouldn't even
- 4:20think of, but having this knowledge is producing knowledge
- 4:23of having that kind of like, to help them feel a bit more
- 4:26comfortable in the environment. Will definitely go a long way
- 4:29and help Leaps and Bounds without assistive person's
- 4:31needs. So with that, I'm gonna spend so
- 4:34much time talking about poo. Moving on number four, Panic
- 4:38based, anger issues. Oh literally.
- 4:40If I had a dollar for every single time somebody thought I
- 4:43was angry, right? Because I have anger management
- 4:46issues. I would be like a bazillionaire
- 4:48because I would say that like, well done, you know, you have
- 4:51anger management issues and you're an angry person.
- 4:53I'm not an angry person. This is issues that are
- 4:56resulting in self-harm lot of the time, right?
- 4:58Because not autistic person will Panic for a situation which
- 5:03would basically come from fear and then that Panic will will
- 5:06make that person going to fight or flight mode which will then
- 5:08come across as anger and this could come across as like
- 5:10self-harm by like hitting themselves in the head or could
- 5:12lead to extreme depression or panic attacks in situations like
- 5:15that. And it's really interesting
- 5:17because people don't see that side of it is really Because
- 5:19they don't go, oh, you know, this person's artistic and
- 5:21they're and they're struggling with fear.
- 5:23They just goes personal artistic, but they're also
- 5:25dealing with some anger management issues in this guy,
- 5:27you know, needs to calm down and that's the worst thing
- 5:29imaginable. He's, like freaking out because
- 5:31they're panicking about a life and death situation, is sort of
- 5:33come down, it's gonna be fine. I mean, it doesn't work doing
- 5:36could never you never do that. So Panic, based anger issues are
- 5:40something you have to be aware of their not anger management
- 5:42problems. They are fear problems so you
- 5:44need to cap the fear and the anger will dissipate, okay?
- 5:48So number five is executive Of function issues are man.
- 5:51So having difficulties in life, like simple tasks, like we
- 5:53cooking or washing clothes, or even folding laundry, put in
- 5:57cups, down on the site that you could just like try and put a
- 5:59bottle on the side of the table. And you could, you can miss, are
- 6:03you could like Drop it, you don't know the weight of the
- 6:06actual product. All of those things are some
- 6:09issues that are coming from a an executive function issue, right?
- 6:13But people don't see that, you know, the clumsiness and all
- 6:15that other stuff in the difficulty, to work, washing,
- 6:16machines and cookers, these are difficult.
- 6:19Is that autistic people face on a daily basis because their
- 6:22brains aren't working in the way that neurotypical people
- 6:24designed those things to be understood which is a very
- 6:27interesting concept so rather than so I'm being lazy or being
- 6:29silly or being clumsy. No, it's actually an issue
- 6:31called, you know, executive function issue and so it's
- 6:34always good to remember that when you're dealing with an
- 6:36autistic person. So you don't feel like you're
- 6:38not alienating them but you're not kind of saying that they
- 6:42just being silly or stupid that they're actually having an issue
- 6:44with that thing. I'd love to know your thoughts
