- 1:25Speaker 2: so excited to have a guest my guest today um
- 1:30Speaker 2: who i met in costa rica and we have just
- 1:33Speaker 2: been delighting in the fact that our lives are mirroring
- 1:37Speaker 2: each other she's in canada she's in the west coast
- 1:40Speaker 2: of canada so this is a show that airs live
- 1:43Speaker 2: 1 30 p.m western canada time um But anyway, I'm
- 1:48Speaker 2: here with Jennifer Nagel and we're going to introduce you
- 1:53Speaker 2: through our conversation because there are several things actually that
- 1:58Speaker 2: I'm so excited to share with our listeners. Of course,
- 2:02Speaker 2: the show is about coming back to love, healing the past,
- 2:05Speaker 2: healing your heart, being present, coming back from times of
- 2:11Speaker 2: stress and times of burnout perhaps, which is a Hot
- 2:16Speaker 2: topic for you, I believe. And yeah, so welcome, everybody.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Welcome to my weekly listeners and welcome to those of
- 2:23Speaker 2: you that are listening for the first time today. Again,
- 2:26Speaker 2: I'm Robin Vogel and we are on KMET, ABC News
- 2:30Speaker 2: Radio affiliate station. Welcome, Jennifer.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Thank you so much, Robin. I am so thrilled to
- 2:36Speaker 3: be here with you. And it's just always lovely to
- 2:38Speaker 3: connect with you. I love you. I love your show.
- 2:41Speaker 3: I love the theme of everything that you do. So
- 2:43Speaker 3: thank you for having me here.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Thank you. Oh, that's so sweet. Thank you for saying that.
- 2:50Speaker 2: What's on my mind in this moment is your book,
- 2:53Speaker 2: Magic in the Muck and your podcast, Magic in the Muck.
- 2:56Speaker 2: So quick shout out for those listening. And that is
- 2:59Speaker 2: those are words that are so easy to remember. Magic
- 3:02Speaker 2: in the Muck. So listeners take note that you will
- 3:04Speaker 2: find out more about Jennifer from her book, from her podcast,
- 3:09Speaker 2: Magic in the Muck. But I really want it. We're
- 3:11Speaker 2: going to get to that piece. What I really wanted
- 3:13Speaker 2: to talk about, and maybe it relates, is the work
- 3:17Speaker 2: that you're doing to support those that are in the
- 3:22Speaker 2: mental health field, running a practice, working hard, someone like me,
- 3:29Speaker 2: someone like you, where I don't know about you, but
- 3:34Speaker 2: for me, I'm sort of a recovering workaholic. And Jennifer,
- 3:40Speaker 2: we can't see Jennifer, but she's raising her hand. And
- 3:45Speaker 2: I actually went through a period of burnout earlier this year.
- 3:49Speaker 2: And I'd love you to define burnout and then also
- 3:52Speaker 2: say anything about yourself that you would like to our
- 3:54Speaker 2: listeners to know about you. But like burnout is a
- 3:57Speaker 2: real thing, right? It's not just language. We're like, oh, yeah,
- 3:59Speaker 2: I'm so burnt out.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Yeah. It's a real thing and it's a real buzzword.
- 4:03Speaker 3: It's this catchphrase. So what is it really? And, you know,
- 4:07Speaker 3: and I think like burning out is really, um, when
- 4:11Speaker 3: we're so overworked and overstretched and, and we get so
- 4:17Speaker 3: caught up in the doing, doing, doing, doing, and we
- 4:19Speaker 3: forget about our being and, um, losing touch with our
- 4:24Speaker 3: vitality and, um, Yeah, it's a real thing. And especially
- 4:30Speaker 3: for caregivers and those in the mental health field who are,
- 4:33Speaker 3: you know, I don't know about, well, I do know
- 4:36Speaker 3: a little bit about you, but, you know, going into
- 4:38Speaker 3: this field because we care so much about others and
- 4:42Speaker 3: knowing how to hold space for others and be attuned
- 4:45Speaker 3: to others. And even as I say that, others, others, others,
- 4:49Speaker 3: and then we slowly start to forget about ourselves. And
- 4:53Speaker 3: I think burnout happens when we lose connection with when
- 4:59Speaker 3: we forget to pause and take true care. I don't
- 5:03Speaker 3: mean like a bubble bath or a massage. I mean,
- 5:05Speaker 3: really caring for self when we lose touch with self
- 5:09Speaker 3: or lose touch with others or lose touch with the
- 5:11Speaker 3: context that we're in that leads to a disconnect and incongruence,
- 5:16Speaker 3: which leads to burnout.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Yes, yes, yes. We're going to talk more about some
- 5:21Speaker 2: of those concepts today on our show. And what I would,
- 5:28Speaker 2: love you to share is, so I know you're doing
- 5:31Speaker 2: a retreat for therapists and practice owners, and we'll share
- 5:34Speaker 2: that information in a bit, but it's in the glorious
- 5:37Speaker 2: Costa Rica. And I, you know, I think you're inviting
- 5:44Speaker 2: people that are pretty much, you know, burnt out and
- 5:47Speaker 2: need time for themselves and need that pause that you
- 5:50Speaker 2: just talked about. But before you share that, about who
- 5:53Speaker 2: the perfect person is besides me, that's coming to the retreat.
- 5:59Speaker 2: How did you get to this work? Like, what is
- 6:02Speaker 2: it about your life? Cause we share really openly and
- 6:04Speaker 2: vulnerable here, vulnerably here on come back to love radio. How,
- 6:09Speaker 2: what was it about your life that brought you to
- 6:11Speaker 2: want to support others in this particular way?
- 6:14Speaker 3: In this particular way, I mean, I've always, since I
- 6:18Speaker 3: was really little, and we won't go into the whole
- 6:20Speaker 3: life story, but I've always wanted to help others and
- 6:23Speaker 3: be of service to others. This particular work and really
- 6:28Speaker 3: wanting to serve caregivers and therapists in particular, I do
- 6:32Speaker 3: a lot of work. You know, therapists come to me
- 6:34Speaker 3: for their own personal therapy, for clinical supervision. And the
- 6:40Speaker 3: theme that I have found over and over, not just
- 6:42Speaker 3: with them, I mean, with myself too, is that, again,
- 6:46Speaker 3: like I was saying, being so accustomed to holding space
- 6:49Speaker 3: for others and giving, giving, giving. And there is something
- 6:53Speaker 3: to giving. I mean, I receive when I'm giving, but
- 6:57Speaker 3: am I really allowing myself to receive the care that
- 7:02Speaker 3: I need? And I'm looking at your face.
- 7:04Speaker 2: Right now, Robin. But.
- 7:08Speaker 3: Yeah. So really, so then this dream of this retreat, well,
- 7:12Speaker 3: what if, what if there was this beautiful space in
- 7:15Speaker 3: a beautiful place with, you know, being supported by the land,
- 7:18Speaker 3: because I'm really, really, I find nature to be such
- 7:24Speaker 3: an important co-therapist in this work of coming back to
- 7:27Speaker 3: self and coming back to congruence. So a place where
- 7:30Speaker 3: we could really experience being held by the land, but
- 7:33Speaker 3: also holding space for therapists and practice owners who who
- 7:38Speaker 3: are so busy running their business and busy running their
- 7:41Speaker 3: and being present for their clients, but not having the
- 7:44Speaker 3: space to be with themselves. So coming home to congruence
- 7:49Speaker 3: is the name of the retreat, a soulful leadership retreat
- 7:52Speaker 3: for therapists and practice owners. The word soulful, because it
- 7:56Speaker 3: really is about reconnecting with the soul of who we
- 8:01Speaker 3: are at our essence, the soul of our work, the
- 8:03Speaker 3: soul of the business, but starting with self.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Yeah. Wow. I want to get to the definition of
- 8:13Speaker 2: congruence in a moment, but I'm going to share a
- 8:16Speaker 2: little vulnerably myself because when I came back from leading
- 8:22Speaker 2: my own retreat in Costa Rica and then having some
- 8:24Speaker 2: vacation time at the end of last year into January, 2026,
- 8:27Speaker 2: now we're in October, 2026. From like January through maybe
- 8:38Speaker 2: even March or April, I was probably by diagnosis criteria
- 8:46Speaker 2: burnt out. I was so exhausted. I was felt so depleted.
- 8:52Speaker 2: I was sorry for anybody listening that was working with me.
- 8:56Speaker 2: I was having a really hard time working with my
- 8:59Speaker 2: clients and I felt very like negative about my work
- 9:06Speaker 2: and I am to use a current day popular expression.
- 9:10Speaker 2: I'm obsessed with my work. I love my work. I
- 9:13Speaker 2: love what I do in the world. I love supporting
- 9:16Speaker 2: people and falling in love with themselves and with each
- 9:18Speaker 2: other and finding their partners and healing what's in the
- 9:21Speaker 2: way of that.
- 9:22Speaker 1: I love it.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Well, I, if you asked me first quarter, 2026, if
- 9:25Speaker 2: I loved my work, I was like, no, I'm actually
- 9:28Speaker 2: in hate with my work. I was breaking up with
- 9:32Speaker 2: my work. I was so, and it was so strange
- 9:36Speaker 2: to me. I've never felt that way about my work before.
- 9:41Speaker 2: It's distressing. I mean, I'm 60 years old. I've been
- 9:43Speaker 2: doing this work for 25 years. All of a sudden,
- 9:46Speaker 2: it's not the thing anymore. And I couldn't really separate out, like,
- 9:50Speaker 2: was that true? Do I need to take a left turn?
- 9:52Speaker 2: Or am I legitimately burnt out and needing help? Needing help. Yeah. Yeah.
- 10:01Speaker 3: And then I mean, things and we get these big
- 10:04Speaker 3: flags loud and clear for ignoring the signals along the way.
- 10:07Speaker 3: I mean, that, you know, I have several stories where literally,
- 10:14Speaker 3: my body was screaming at me, and I was ignoring
- 10:17Speaker 3: it until I you know, and it wasn't until I got,
- 10:20Speaker 3: you know, five years ago, I was diagnosed with MS. What,
- 10:24Speaker 3: what is happening to my body that I, and, and
- 10:28Speaker 3: so that was a real wake up call for me too.
- 10:30Speaker 3: That was probably a pivotal moment where it's like, okay,
- 10:33Speaker 3: I really need to pay attention to what's happening with me.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Um, yeah.
- 10:40Speaker 3: And that, yeah, when we have signs, like when we,
- 10:42Speaker 3: when we fall out of love with our work, cause
- 10:44Speaker 3: I I'm with you, Robin, I love what I do
- 10:47Speaker 3: and I'm passionate about what I do. So if I
- 10:50Speaker 3: start to feel numb, that's a warning sign. Like what
- 10:54Speaker 3: is happening there? Because I love what I do and
- 10:56Speaker 3: I love my clients. So what's happening with me and
- 10:59Speaker 3: my relationship with me, that's getting in the way of this.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Right. Yeah. I love that you said numb because clearly
- 11:06Speaker 2: my extremely exuberant expression of how I was feeling was
- 11:10Speaker 2: not numb. but, and I exaggerated on purpose, you know,
- 11:15Speaker 2: to make a point. Cause I do that, you know, Hey,
- 11:19Speaker 2: I'm Jewish. I'm from New York. Like we do that.
- 11:23Speaker 2: But yeah. Where was the point where I started to
- 11:25Speaker 2: feel numb and didn't notice, you know, where was the
- 11:28Speaker 2: point where I had a little bit of a headache
- 11:30Speaker 2: in the morning and I didn't notice where it was
- 11:32Speaker 2: the point, you know, all those places where We push
- 11:35Speaker 2: it aside. Yeah, we push it aside.
- 11:37Speaker 3: It's like, oh, it'll get better. It'll get better.
- 11:39Speaker 2: It's just today. It's just today. I'll feel better later tomorrow.
- 11:43Speaker 2: It's like, oh, not really happening. So yeah. Yeah. So
- 11:47Speaker 2: let's go to congruence because that's kind of a new
- 11:49Speaker 2: word on the street. New kid on the block.
- 11:52Speaker 3: And people hear it differently too. They interpret it differently.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Yes, exactly. So I want to know exactly what you
- 11:59Speaker 2: mean when you say coming home to congruence. Yes. So
- 12:05Speaker 2: that we know what you're talking about.
- 12:07Speaker 3: Yes. You know, even as you say that, when you
- 12:10Speaker 3: say coming home to congruence, I have a full body,
- 12:14Speaker 3: just warm response to that because my body knows what
- 12:17Speaker 3: I mean, but I need to try to put it
- 12:19Speaker 3: into words and explain. And really congruence is really experiencing harmony,
- 12:31Speaker 3: I need to say more about that, like harmony within.
- 12:34Speaker 3: So we have, I mean, we are complex as human beings.
- 12:37Speaker 3: We're very complex. We have all these, you know, emotions
- 12:41Speaker 3: and feelings and we're meaning making creatures. We make meaning
- 12:45Speaker 3: out of everything and the meanings that we make impact
- 12:49Speaker 3: how we feel about things. And then we have these expectations,
- 12:52Speaker 3: all these shoulds and these rules and, um, And really
- 12:56Speaker 3: what it comes down to is these universal yearnings that
- 12:59Speaker 3: we all have, no matter where we're from, no matter
- 13:02Speaker 3: what our background is, we all have the same yearnings
- 13:06Speaker 3: for love and for connection and freedom. And so congruence
- 13:12Speaker 3: is when we're really, when I'm connected with my life energy,
- 13:19Speaker 3: with my essence, with my soul, with my resources, with
- 13:22Speaker 3: my love, with my compassion. When I'm connected with all
- 13:25Speaker 3: of that, even as I speak of it right now,
- 13:28Speaker 3: I feel this like tingling and I feel my whole
- 13:31Speaker 3: body responds with joy and being in harmony with myself
- 13:38Speaker 3: and also within, in relationship. Like right now I'm I'm
- 13:42Speaker 3: here with you on this radio show. I'm connected with me,
- 13:46Speaker 3: but I'm also feeling very connected with you. And I
- 13:49Speaker 3: see you as your own unique manifestation of life energy
- 13:54Speaker 3: and all your exuberance and all your beautiful resources that
- 13:57Speaker 3: you have. And being very connected with the context of
- 14:02Speaker 3: what we're doing here together is But when all of
- 14:04Speaker 3: that's in harmony, and it's not just self-other context, it's
- 14:08Speaker 3: also being in harmony with, and maybe this might sound
- 14:11Speaker 3: woo for some people, but my connection with the earth
- 14:14Speaker 3: and my connection with the heavens and intuition and all
- 14:17Speaker 3: the things that we have access to when we allow
- 14:21Speaker 3: ourselves to be fully like grounded and present. So that
- 14:25Speaker 3: to me is congruence. And when I'm in a congruent place,
- 14:28Speaker 3: I have access to wisdom and intuition and creativity and
- 14:33Speaker 3: all the things that I might think oh where's this
- 14:36Speaker 3: coming from like it just all it comes whether it's
- 14:39Speaker 3: downloaded and through me but we have access to so
- 14:42Speaker 3: much more when we're connected in that place.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Yeah there's less noise in the brain right there's less
- 14:49Speaker 2: distractions there's less.
- 14:52Speaker 3: I mean, coping patterns too, you know, the way we, yeah,
- 14:55Speaker 3: the internal, all those parts that we have that are
- 14:57Speaker 3: in conflict with each other, like when they're all working
- 15:00Speaker 3: together and integration, like that's really congruent, right? All our
- 15:04Speaker 3: parts are working for our best good. I believe that
- 15:08Speaker 3: every part, even the parts that we discount and try
- 15:12Speaker 3: to ignore and push aside, maybe they're doing things in
- 15:15Speaker 3: a way that aren't helpful for us, but really their
- 15:17Speaker 3: intentions are, whether it's to protect us or to, whatever
- 15:22Speaker 3: it is. So it's really getting to know all our
- 15:25Speaker 3: parts and getting to know who we are and really
- 15:28Speaker 3: working in harmony within ourself and in relation with others.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Beautiful. So your retreat, you know, that sounds like that's
- 15:38Speaker 2: the goal, you know, for the therapists and caregivers and,
- 15:43Speaker 2: you know, program managers or, you know, the people that
- 15:46Speaker 2: are really, like you said, pouring their energies into other people, because,
- 15:51Speaker 2: you know, that's what we're called to do. And the
- 15:55Speaker 2: retreat is on receiving, it sounds like replenishing, and coming
- 16:01Speaker 2: into my word has typically been alignment. Yeah, feeling aligned,
- 16:05Speaker 2: hearing alignment, similar to absolutely. With yourself, and alignment with others. Yeah.
- 16:15Speaker 3: And then bringing that alignment, bringing that energy into the business.
- 16:19Speaker 3: So especially for practice owners who are so caught up
- 16:24Speaker 3: in the running of who have other clinicians practicing with
- 16:27Speaker 3: them or, or they're hiring and just the, the self
- 16:32Speaker 3: of the business, if that makes sense, or the energy
- 16:34Speaker 3: of the business. So bringing, bringing the congruence of the
- 16:38Speaker 3: leader into the, congruence of the business so that things
- 16:43Speaker 3: can run more efficiently um but really from a from
- 16:48Speaker 3: a the energy of efficiency not just from a doing
- 16:52Speaker 3: place but from a again that there's that word being
- 16:55Speaker 3: but from a being place so the being of the
- 16:57Speaker 3: business the self of the leader bringing that into the business.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Yeah Yeah, it's great. It's a great concept. And we
- 17:04Speaker 2: won't go into it too deeply today, because it's really
- 17:07Speaker 2: a whole episode in and of itself. But a lot
- 17:09Speaker 2: of work that I did before, you know, getting to
- 17:11Speaker 2: this moment, had to do with really understanding that my
- 17:14Speaker 2: business as an entity in and of itself, like it had,
- 17:17Speaker 2: it has energy, it has places that are in alignment,
- 17:20Speaker 2: it has places that are misaligned. If I force it
- 17:24Speaker 2: in one direction, and that's actually not where it's supposed
- 17:27Speaker 2: to go, then there's dissonance between me and And the
- 17:31Speaker 2: energy of my business. And that's like a whole concept
- 17:35Speaker 2: that I would say is newer to our entrepreneurial world,
- 17:41Speaker 2: but vital, I think, to to running a successful business.
- 17:46Speaker 3: And I love this, Robin, because, you know, I used
- 17:49Speaker 3: to get invited. Well, actually, no, I still do work
- 17:52Speaker 3: with with corporations and teams and bringing and bringing this
- 17:57Speaker 3: whole concept of, you know, having people really reflect on
- 18:02Speaker 3: themselves and, you know, and doing the work on themselves,
- 18:06Speaker 3: but then doing a similar reflection on their business as
- 18:10Speaker 3: an entity and as a, and then looking at where,
- 18:13Speaker 3: like you were saying, where are the, where are things
- 18:15Speaker 3: in alignment and where are things really disconnected? Like, oh
- 18:18Speaker 3: my goodness, this is what I value, but this is
- 18:21Speaker 3: what's actually happening in the business, which does not align
- 18:23Speaker 3: with my values. So how do we bring things more
- 18:26Speaker 3: into alignment? I talk with my hands a lot, so
- 18:28Speaker 3: I know this is audio.
- 18:30Speaker 2: Me too. Like I said, I'm Jewish and from New York.
- 18:32Speaker 2: I'm like, I'm all with my hands. Nobody can see
- 18:37Speaker 2: that or hear that. I can't hear my hands moving
- 18:39Speaker 2: or yours. So shout out to our listeners. Thanks for
- 18:44Speaker 2: listening in. Again, this is Robin Vogel on Come Back
- 18:48Speaker 2: to Love Radio and we are on KMET radio station.
- 18:54Speaker 2: I would love to move into magic in the muck.
- 18:59Speaker 2: But before we go there, actually, say where people can
- 19:03Speaker 2: find the information about your retreat.
- 19:05Speaker 3: Oh, for the retreat?
- 19:06Speaker 2: Yes.
- 19:07Speaker 3: Www.congruentpractice.com. And then click on Costa Rica retreat, Costa Rica
- 19:14Speaker 3: retreat on there. It's Costa-Rica-retreat. But congruentpractice.com.
- 19:21Speaker 2: Congruentpractice.com will get you to... The information about that retreat
- 19:25Speaker 2: in Costa Rica, beginning of next year, 2027.
- 19:27Speaker 3: January 31st to February 5th, 2027.
- 19:32Speaker 2: It's actually only four months away. I know. You've filled
- 19:37Speaker 2: about half and you have about half left. So if
- 19:40Speaker 2: you're interested, definitely reach out.
- 19:42Speaker 3: It's going to be beautiful, beautiful, meaningful and transformational for sure. Yeah.
- 19:47Speaker 2: In such a beautiful space, like you said, because.
- 19:49Speaker 1: I've been there twice.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:51Speaker 3: And listeners are welcome through that link. They can also
- 19:54Speaker 3: book a discovery call if they'd like to just connect
- 19:57Speaker 3: and get to know more.
- 19:58Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. Yeah. Great. Awesome. Okay. Magic in the
- 20:02Speaker 2: muck in the last, you know, five, six minutes we
- 20:04Speaker 2: have today on the radio.
- 20:07Speaker 3: What a story.
- 20:09Speaker 2: Of course, it's all connected. I was trying to weave
- 20:11Speaker 2: it together because I know you had a lot of
- 20:14Speaker 2: really intense things happen in your life. Yeah. And I
- 20:19Speaker 2: think it has really led you to supporting others in
- 20:23Speaker 2: healing from their own, call it lack of congruence, but just...
- 20:28Speaker 2: you know, it's all related. So what would you like
- 20:30Speaker 2: to share about your? Yeah.
- 20:32Speaker 3: Well, even where this whole theme of magic in the
- 20:35Speaker 3: muck really was born back in, gosh, what year was it? 20, 2007,
- 20:42Speaker 3: when I was pregnant with my first child, with my
- 20:45Speaker 3: daughter and my husband, I was in second trimester. My
- 20:48Speaker 3: husband was diagnosed with stage four cancer, given weeks to live.
- 20:53Speaker 3: And here I was running a full on full-time private practice,
- 20:58Speaker 3: in another city that was an hour commute from where
- 21:00Speaker 3: we lived. Um, my husband was diagnosed and literally like
- 21:05Speaker 3: two days later, he's in the hospital full, like living
- 21:08Speaker 3: at the hospital, getting full on treatment. So I'm working
- 21:11Speaker 3: full time as a therapist, pregnant with a child, driving
- 21:15Speaker 3: to the hospital every night to be with my husband.
- 21:17Speaker 3: And I, even as I say this right now, I
- 21:19Speaker 3: don't know what, what strengths, how you did it, how
- 21:25Speaker 3: I did that.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:26Speaker 3: Um, But from that, I really globbed on to what
- 21:30Speaker 3: kept me going without, because he was, he's still alive
- 21:33Speaker 3: just for listeners to know that there's so many miracles
- 21:36Speaker 3: that happened that to where we are, no signs of
- 21:39Speaker 3: any cancer. And he was given weeks to live with
- 21:41Speaker 3: stage four.
- 21:41Speaker 2: It's been 19 years. Yeah.
- 21:44Speaker 3: That's a whole other episode for another time.
- 21:47Speaker 2: Wow.
- 21:48Speaker 3: But you can, you can hear some of the, some
- 21:50Speaker 3: of that stories in my podcast too. But from that,
- 21:54Speaker 3: what kept me through those times was finding these moments
- 21:57Speaker 3: of grace, moments of grace and magic in the muck,
- 22:01Speaker 3: like in the muck. And it really got me, which
- 22:05Speaker 3: ended up being the title of my book. I started
- 22:07Speaker 3: writing just about these moments of grace and then really
- 22:12Speaker 3: reflected on what we all go through in times of
- 22:15Speaker 3: change and chaos and how chaos doesn't feel good. And
- 22:20Speaker 3: yet It's also a big part of transformation and change.
- 22:25Speaker 3: So how can we navigate through the muck and find
- 22:29Speaker 3: the magic in the muck to get to the other side?
- 22:32Speaker 3: So that's kind of the origin of where magic in
- 22:35Speaker 3: the muck comes from. And now it's all about finding
- 22:37Speaker 3: the miracles in the everyday and finding those moments of grace.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Yeah. Wow. I mean, just whenever you give the highlight
- 22:45Speaker 2: of the book, it's like, Everybody wants to get their
- 22:48Speaker 2: hands on it. As you know, in China, thousands and
- 22:51Speaker 2: thousands and thousands of copies are being sold.
- 22:54Speaker 3: It was just translated into Mandarin.
- 22:59Speaker 2: They can't keep it on the shelves. I mean, it's unbelievable.
- 23:04Speaker 2: Give us, if you, if you'd be willing to give
- 23:08Speaker 2: us just like two minutes of one of those moments
- 23:11Speaker 2: of grace, I would be so grateful. I know my
- 23:14Speaker 2: listeners would be too. oh what comes to mind like
- 23:18Speaker 2: one moment yeah I mean he's alive 19 years later
- 23:22Speaker 2: he was given weeks to live like I know oh
- 23:26Speaker 2: my god I mean no still my god I know
- 23:30Speaker 2: so many I mean they all all these moments just
- 23:32Speaker 2: came flooding to me so this overwhelming okay.
- 23:35Speaker 3: How do I choose one But one, I think a
- 23:38Speaker 3: huge one, and this was just one, I think to
- 23:40Speaker 3: show that miracles really do happen every day. When he'd
- 23:45Speaker 3: gone through four rounds of chemo and still didn't know
- 23:50Speaker 3: what the outcome was going to be. He was still alive.
- 23:52Speaker 3: He was alive beyond the few weeks he was given.
- 23:55Speaker 3: And the last resort was a stem cell transplant. And
- 24:00Speaker 3: he doesn't have any siblings. And so there's no unrelated donors.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Like related donors. Yeah.
- 24:08Speaker 3: Yeah. No related donors.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Right.
- 24:10Speaker 3: So plugging all his things into whatever the system is
- 24:13Speaker 3: of 8 million people, they found a perfect match, a
- 24:18Speaker 3: medically perfect match.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Wow.
- 24:20Speaker 3: One in 8 million. That's like better than winning the lottery.
- 24:24Speaker 2: Yes.
- 24:25Speaker 3: So, so yeah. And, and that was this person in Germany,
- 24:28Speaker 3: a live donor. And so Um, the stem cells were
- 24:32Speaker 3: flown from Germany. It was like a episode of ER
- 24:34Speaker 3: or something flown in to YVR airport, straight from the
- 24:39Speaker 3: airport to the hospital, straight from the hospital into his body.
- 24:43Speaker 3: And that, I, I think that's a, that's a big
- 24:47Speaker 3: part of why there's no signs of any cancer in
- 24:49Speaker 3: his body to this day. Um, but so many other moments,
- 24:53Speaker 3: like the nurses were incredible. I was pregnant. Like I,
- 24:57Speaker 3: the rest of my pregnancy was with him in the
- 24:59Speaker 3: hospital and you know, one of his nurses would come
- 25:03Speaker 3: and massage me, like just the care and the community
- 25:06Speaker 3: that came together, really learning how to receive. That's an,
- 25:10Speaker 3: as a caregiver, it's really hard to, so really accepting,
- 25:14Speaker 3: accepting the receiving.
- 25:15Speaker 2: Wow. Yeah.
- 25:17Speaker 3: So many moments of grace.
- 25:18Speaker 2: So many moments. And that's a beautiful one. Oh my gosh.
- 25:22Speaker 2: Thank you for sharing that. I mean, it gives me
- 25:25Speaker 2: and I'm sure everyone listening hope. And there's so many
- 25:29Speaker 2: lessons in there where somebody says, hey, you've got four
- 25:31Speaker 2: weeks to live. And 19 years later, there's no sign
- 25:34Speaker 2: of cancer. And you're a thriving human with a family
- 25:37Speaker 2: and a beautiful wife and kids. And, you know, it's like, wow.
- 25:41Speaker 2: I mean, if that isn't a miracle, I don't know
- 25:43Speaker 2: what is. So thank you. Thank you, universe. And thank
- 25:47Speaker 2: you to that donor in Germany.
- 25:48Speaker 3: Amazing.
- 25:50Speaker 2: Amazing, Jennifer. So great to be with you. Like you said,
- 25:54Speaker 2: every moment that we get to spend together is such
