- 0:29Speaker 1: Andrew, how are you doing this week?
- 0:32Speaker 3: Absolutely fantastic.
- 0:33Speaker 4: We got rain this weekend and my pond back up
- 0:36Speaker 4: and that makes me happy.
- 0:37Speaker 1: I had the same problem.
- 0:39Speaker 2: I had dry crunchy like literally like a couple of
- 0:42Speaker 2: feet around the edges. It just was dry, and I'm like,
- 0:45Speaker 2: oh my goodness, and now rain and actually.
- 0:50Speaker 3: That's the little things in life. We got like three inches.
- 0:54Speaker 3: I wasn't expecting that.
- 0:56Speaker 1: That is.
- 0:57Speaker 2: It's great to hear, great to see and of yeah,
- 1:00Speaker 2: I know our gardens and everything are going to love
- 1:01Speaker 2: this as well.
- 1:02Speaker 1: And Andrew.
- 1:03Speaker 2: We're going to talk about something a little bit different
- 1:05Speaker 2: this week, and something that's really important, which is careers
- 1:09Speaker 2: at Larson Kini Home Services. And we talk about all
- 1:13Speaker 2: the great benefits for homeowners, we talk about the professionalism
- 1:17Speaker 2: of the team at Larsonkini Home Services, and we haven't
- 1:21Speaker 2: really talked about kind of the other side of that
- 1:23Speaker 2: is finding those people that really make this all go.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Let's talk about working at Larsonkini Home Services and some
- 1:29Speaker 2: of the opportunities that you have for folks.
- 1:31Speaker 3: Andrew, Yeah, you know, it was funny.
- 1:35Speaker 4: I've said this before, but you usually text me an
- 1:37Speaker 4: hour before in the morning, seven am. I'm downstairs, I'm
- 1:40Speaker 4: lifting weights. It's like, what do you want to talk
- 1:42Speaker 4: about today? And sometimes I've already got a planned and
- 1:45Speaker 4: today I was like, man, you know, I mean what
- 1:48Speaker 4: I really want.
- 1:49Speaker 3: To talk about is people. We need people.
- 1:53Speaker 4: I mean we have Look, we have an amazing culture
- 1:58Speaker 4: of people coming on and learning a skill and learning
- 2:02Speaker 4: a trade and sticking around for a long time and
- 2:05Speaker 4: honestly turning a career into it. And I know a
- 2:08Speaker 4: lot of people might not think, well, gutter installer, insulation
- 2:11Speaker 4: technician a career. Well, yeah, I mean that's what we've
- 2:15Speaker 4: tried to turn this into. It's not just like a
- 2:19Speaker 4: I'm going to go install some gutters and do some
- 2:21Speaker 4: insulation over there at Larson for a couple of years,
- 2:23Speaker 4: and you know, make fifteen bucks an hour.
- 2:27Speaker 3: That's not what this is.
- 2:29Speaker 4: I mean, this is this is a career and I've
- 2:33Speaker 4: never talked about it on the radio show before.
- 2:35Speaker 3: But we're growing.
- 2:38Speaker 4: We're growing so fast, and we've got now you know,
- 2:42Speaker 4: it's not just Larson, it's Larson KINI. So we have
- 2:46Speaker 4: opportunities for people all over the state. So I'm not
- 2:50Speaker 4: exactly sure what the what the distance that this show
- 2:53Speaker 4: goes out to. I'm sure you can tell us right
- 2:55Speaker 4: how far is it go?
- 2:56Speaker 2: I Dane County and the adjacent counties as well. Now
- 2:59Speaker 2: Andrew will tell you we did receive an audio file
- 3:02Speaker 2: and email from is It Finland last week, so.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Yeah, oh yeah, how is it possible? Oh there's I could.
- 3:11Speaker 2: I'll send you an email with the next am radio
- 3:14Speaker 2: signal skip what they call it, so if you get
- 3:17Speaker 2: a good bounce, you will be picked up. Like I
- 3:19Speaker 2: there are times when I'm up in Spooner thirteen ten
- 3:22Speaker 2: comes in clear as day in Spooner as well.
- 3:24Speaker 3: So that's crazy, is it? Okay?
- 3:25Speaker 4: Yeah, Well, listen, what I was going to say, is
- 3:27Speaker 4: I don't know how far this goes, but if you know, people,
- 3:31Speaker 4: let us know. We've got opportunities in the Wassaw Stevens
- 3:35Speaker 4: Point area. We'll just call it the north Woods, you know,
- 3:38Speaker 4: we'll say Tomahawk and North. Our office in the Appleton,
- 3:43Speaker 4: Nina area Milwaukee, actually Pewaukee specifically is where our office
- 3:48Speaker 4: is located. And of course here in Arlington, which is
- 3:52Speaker 4: the Madison area. We also have a little office over
- 3:54Speaker 4: in Rochester, Minnesota. So so we're growing, and specifically we
- 3:58Speaker 4: are looking in the Apple area. We are looking for
- 4:01Speaker 4: gutter technicians. We are looking for roofing project managers. Milwaukee,
- 4:05Speaker 4: We're looking for sales reps, roofing project managers. Madison. We're
- 4:09Speaker 4: looking for a roofing project manager, insulation technicians, and gutter installers.
- 4:15Speaker 4: And we're always looking for great salespeople. So now when
- 4:19Speaker 4: I talk about the production part of this again, like
- 4:22Speaker 4: I said, this isn't just a at least this.
- 4:25Speaker 3: Is why I don't.
- 4:25Speaker 4: I don't want people to look at as like oh,
- 4:27Speaker 4: I'm going to go, you know, make a few bucks
- 4:28Speaker 4: and move on. We like people to stay. And this
- 4:31Speaker 4: is why I tell people all the time. I don't
- 4:34Speaker 4: care what your experience is makes no difference to me.
- 4:38Speaker 4: The only thing that matters to me and has always listen.
- 4:41Speaker 4: We've got tons of people that have come in and
- 4:43Speaker 4: worked for us with all the experience in the world,
- 4:46Speaker 4: ran their own company, did this, did that, And what
- 4:49Speaker 4: we find is, listen, after almost twenty years of doing this,
- 4:53Speaker 4: we know what works and we know what doesn't work.
- 4:56Speaker 4: If you don't have any experience, that's okay with us,
- 4:58Speaker 4: because we will train you exactly how we need to
- 5:03Speaker 4: train you and let you know exactly what you need
- 5:06Speaker 4: to know. We do paid training, We provide tools, we
- 5:08Speaker 4: provide work vehicles, all of that stuff with very very
- 5:13Speaker 4: competitive starting wages, usually ranging from about twenty eight to
- 5:16Speaker 4: thirty three dollars an hour, which you know, that's that's
- 5:21Speaker 4: not too shabby. I think that's actually fantastic. But what
- 5:26Speaker 4: I also do like to say is that's a starting
- 5:28Speaker 4: hourly pay for us. Most of our jobs are paid
- 5:31Speaker 4: on a percentage of the job, which is hard for
- 5:33Speaker 4: a lot of people to wrap their heads around.
- 5:35Speaker 3: But I'll just throw these numbers out there.
- 5:37Speaker 4: Our average roofing project managers are making between eighty and
- 5:41Speaker 4: one hundred and thirty thousand dollars a year. So if
- 5:45Speaker 4: you think you if you have a if you think
- 5:47Speaker 4: you can now I'm not going to say it's not
- 5:49Speaker 4: hard work. I'm not going to say you don't got
- 5:50Speaker 4: to get up early in the morning and every once
- 5:53Speaker 4: in a while you got.
- 5:53Speaker 3: To work late nights.
- 5:54Speaker 4: But you're you're managing a roofing job site, so you're
- 5:59Speaker 4: not actually even roofing.
- 6:00Speaker 3: We have professional roofers.
- 6:02Speaker 4: You are just there to talk with the homeowner, make
- 6:05Speaker 4: sure the job is clean and tidy, make sure the
- 6:08Speaker 4: roofers have everything they need, make sure the job is
- 6:12Speaker 4: clean and everybody's working safely.
- 6:14Speaker 3: That's what you do.
- 6:16Speaker 4: And you can make eighty two hundred and thirty thousand
- 6:18Speaker 4: dollars a year doing so, and you don't even work
- 6:20Speaker 4: full time in the winter. So it's a really good job.
- 6:24Speaker 4: It's a really good paying job, and it's a career.
- 6:28Speaker 4: As far as gutter technicians look, it's the same type
- 6:31Speaker 4: of thing. It's not easy work. It's hard work. There's ladders,
- 6:34Speaker 4: there's planks, there's long days. But I mean, listen, some
- 6:37Speaker 4: of the days are short, and some of those short days,
- 6:40Speaker 4: our guys are averaging seventy one seventy five two hundred
- 6:43Speaker 4: dollars an hour.
- 6:44Speaker 3: That's because they're paid on commissions.
- 6:48Speaker 4: So if you're somebody who's look, we've hired accountants, people
- 6:52Speaker 4: that have been sitting behind desks, and I've asked him
- 6:55Speaker 4: interviewing him, said so you're an accountant, yep, what makes
- 7:01Speaker 4: you want to come install gutter shutter? Because if I
- 7:04Speaker 4: sit behind a desk and stare at a computer for
- 7:09Speaker 4: eight hours a day for another week, I feel like
- 7:12Speaker 4: I'm losing a little bit of my life minute by minute.
- 7:16Speaker 4: I want to work with my hands. I want self gratification.
- 7:19Speaker 4: I want quit gratification for making someone's house look nice.
- 7:22Speaker 4: I said, perfect, That's fantastic, because what we really want
- 7:26Speaker 4: is somebody who wants to make a career out of
- 7:28Speaker 4: working for us. As well as the most important key,
- 7:33Speaker 4: I don't care what you know. I care about your attitude,
- 7:37Speaker 4: and I care about the effort that you're willing to
- 7:39Speaker 4: put forth, because if you've got a great attitude and
- 7:42Speaker 4: you put forth the effort, you will be highly successful
- 7:46Speaker 4: in pretty much anything you do, and especially in our company,
- 7:49Speaker 4: and guys with great attitudes and put forth a lot
- 7:52Speaker 4: of effort.
- 7:52Speaker 3: End up making a lot of money.
- 7:54Speaker 4: And I know this because they come to work and say, Hey,
- 7:57Speaker 4: I just bought this brand new eighty thousand dollars truck.
- 7:59Speaker 3: Hey I just bought a new house.
- 8:01Speaker 4: Like that's the fantastic part changing someone's life. And that's
- 8:06Speaker 4: the way I look at it. So if you're sitting
- 8:09Speaker 4: out there and you're hearing this and you're looking for
- 8:11Speaker 4: a new opportunity, the pay is great, the culture and
- 8:15Speaker 4: the company is even better.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Yes, I have sales reps.
- 8:19Speaker 4: That come in and they've come from other industries of sales,
- 8:23Speaker 4: or they've come from the same industry of sales, and
- 8:25Speaker 4: I'll ask them after a few months, what's the difference
- 8:28Speaker 4: between Larson Kini and the place you used to work
- 8:31Speaker 4: and the last three sales reps? I got the exact
- 8:34Speaker 4: same answer. These were at different times, and these people
- 8:36Speaker 4: didn't know each other, and their answers were you guys
- 8:40Speaker 4: care about your customers. Well, it makes it pretty easy
- 8:44Speaker 4: to sell something when you know that the owners of
- 8:46Speaker 4: the company, all they want to do is put on
- 8:49Speaker 4: a fantastic product, have it be a great experience, have
- 8:52Speaker 4: the homeowners be super happy, and if there is an issue,
- 8:56Speaker 4: we go back, we take care of it. We sell
- 8:58Speaker 4: with integrity, we install with and we service to a fault.
- 9:01Speaker 4: And when I mean service to a fault, sometimes we
- 9:04Speaker 4: service things.
- 9:04Speaker 3: For free that aren't our fault and we shouldn't do it.
- 9:06Speaker 3: But at the end of the day, we take care
- 9:09Speaker 3: of it.
- 9:09Speaker 4: And I know that our guys and gals in the
- 9:13Speaker 4: production field, in the sales field, and in the office
- 9:16Speaker 4: take a lot of pride in knowing that we'll go
- 9:19Speaker 4: out and help basically no matter what, just like we
- 9:22Speaker 4: were last week. I think we tarped fifty roofs in
- 9:26Speaker 4: the Appleton, Nina area. A lot of them we didn't
- 9:28Speaker 4: charge anything for. We just went out and took care
- 9:30Speaker 4: of it because that's what needed to be done. So
- 9:32Speaker 4: if that's the type of company that you want to
- 9:34Speaker 4: work for, a company you can take pride and who
- 9:37Speaker 4: you work for and what you do, all while making
- 9:40Speaker 4: a really good paycheck.
- 9:41Speaker 3: When we pay weekly. By the way, Oh, people.
- 9:44Speaker 4: Really really like that every week paycheck. You know what,
- 9:49Speaker 4: Look us up, hit us up online, reach out to us.
- 9:53Speaker 4: We are always always, I mean right now, we're really
- 9:56Speaker 4: really looking for some great people.
- 9:58Speaker 2: So it's talk about it's really the attitude and the
- 10:02Speaker 2: right person. If you are that type of person, maybe
- 10:04Speaker 2: you've got a got a kiddo or a grand kid
- 10:06Speaker 2: as well that's maybe looking for a career and has
- 10:09Speaker 2: that drive that if they're great people people, they're definitely
- 10:15Speaker 2: looking for them at Larson Service. The other thing, too,
- 10:17Speaker 2: is there's something to be said for going home each
- 10:20Speaker 2: night and feeling good about the work that you've done,
- 10:22Speaker 2: and that's one of the other great rewards about working
- 10:24Speaker 2: at Larson Kini Home Services. You definitely want to make
