- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, Uh, good morning. If you're watching in real
- 0:03Speaker 1: time or listening in real time, I'm Pat Lunch tacobob
- 0:06Speaker 1: cross from me and this is a brand new episode
- 0:08Speaker 1: of Off the Air, our weekly podcast from a lunch
- 0:11Speaker 1: and Taco show on one on one one w j R.
- 0:13Speaker 1: What are you doing over there? I am?
- 0:16Speaker 2: I sent him a bitch. Everything I just did didn't
- 0:18Speaker 2: even type. No.
- 0:19Speaker 1: I like to, uh, when.
- 0:21Speaker 2: I get a chance label certain people on the text.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Lines, what do you mean label them?
- 0:26Speaker 2: Like?
- 0:26Speaker 1: Uh?
- 0:27Speaker 2: Put like okay, this one just said, uh when we
- 0:31Speaker 2: were talking during the show about things that you think
- 0:34Speaker 2: you're good at besides your occupation, and I said, oh,
- 0:38Speaker 2: I know what mine is, napping and crapping. So I
- 0:40Speaker 2: was gonna label that guy because he goes taco bob
- 0:43Speaker 2: dot dot dot dot napping and crapping'. Then he sends
- 0:46Speaker 2: other text dude, that is awesome. So it's gonna name
- 0:51Speaker 2: him napping and crapping.
- 0:52Speaker 1: But I'm just asking what his name is instead?
- 0:57Speaker 2: So what's up? Brother? No that I'm just I'm ready, okay, alrighty,
- 1:01Speaker 2: all right, you know me, I'm multitasking.
- 1:03Speaker 1: I hope you're ready for the big Freeze. Yeah, here
- 1:08Speaker 1: we go again.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Thank God my kids are at college and I don't
- 1:10Speaker 2: have to hear them say, uh, bring in Rosebud, No
- 1:14Speaker 2: Rosebudget on the back porch, because those cats peed all
- 1:18Speaker 2: over my suitcase.
- 1:19Speaker 1: You know, as we sat here this morning, you know,
- 1:22Speaker 1: we have the TV on in the studio just to
- 1:24Speaker 1: keep tabs on the local TV news in case, you know,
- 1:27Speaker 1: there's some disaster unfolding that we might want to share
- 1:30Speaker 1: with you. But they're ninety percent of their show is
- 1:34Speaker 1: dedicated to talking about this cold weather that's coming in.
- 1:37Speaker 1: And I keep seeing them say, who's the coldest air
- 1:42Speaker 1: we've had in four years? Okay, maybe temperature wise it is.
- 1:48Speaker 1: It was coldest shit last year. For a few mins,
- 1:51Speaker 1: just took the words out of my mouth. In fact,
- 1:53Speaker 1: it was almost this week last year. It was right
- 1:56Speaker 1: around MLK Holiday that that cold weather came in and
- 2:01Speaker 1: the Panhandle got like seven eight nine inches of snow
- 2:04Speaker 1: in places. One place got ten inches. Yeah, so I
- 2:08Speaker 1: thought the same thing.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm so glad you brought that up, because yesterday
- 2:11Speaker 2: that hit me.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Wade, I don't know if this is the cold is there.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Then I went another step further just to confirm that
- 2:19Speaker 1: and I go, where was I That was the weekend
- 2:22Speaker 1: last year that I took my wife for her birthday
- 2:25Speaker 1: up to Savannah. Remember, Oh yeah, So we were up
- 2:29Speaker 1: at Savannah that weekend and it was the same deal.
- 2:31Speaker 1: The cold air was approaching and they were all up there.
- 2:35Speaker 1: They were gonna get snow up in that part of
- 2:37Speaker 1: Georgia as well. We got out of there just as
- 2:40Speaker 1: the cold air arrived to travel back. We drove back
- 2:43Speaker 1: from Savannah on Martin Luther King Day last year. I
- 2:47Speaker 1: remember it was also it was also the inauguration day.
- 2:51Speaker 1: So yeah, I'd say if it was about a year
- 2:52Speaker 1: ago that we had the same kind of batch of
- 2:54Speaker 1: cold air roll in in the whole Dog and Pony Show.
- 2:58Speaker 2: I remember that.
- 2:58Speaker 1: I'll tell us four years since we've had anything like this.
- 3:02Speaker 2: I remember the Savannah trip because I asked you if
- 3:04Speaker 2: you were going to see the Savannah bananas, the you know,
- 3:07Speaker 2: the baseball craze. But uh so.
- 3:11Speaker 1: We took off last year a m oka just because
- 3:14Speaker 1: we had that trip planned. Okayfe and I, well, no,
- 3:16Speaker 1: we're going to be here Monday, Yeah, definitely, we'll be
- 3:19Speaker 1: here Monday. So that's yeah. So anyway, yeah, just bear
- 3:23Speaker 1: with it. So we got a day or two of
- 3:25Speaker 1: this this really cold stuff. I guess there's gonna be
- 3:27Speaker 1: another match coming in on Sunday, and then I get
- 3:30Speaker 1: towards next weekend. Nice again. Yeah good?
- 3:35Speaker 2: So you know, hey, we got some rain out of this.
- 3:37Speaker 2: We needed rain, and I have told you I could
- 3:41Speaker 2: use the freeze to get rid of some of that
- 3:43Speaker 2: U stink vine.
- 3:44Speaker 1: But the falling iguanas, what am I going to do? Good?
- 3:49Speaker 2: It makes them easier to play.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Oh, I did see that there is a small possibility
- 3:57Speaker 1: again at the part of the Panhandle, could see a
- 4:01Speaker 1: little snow again. I don't think with this one that's
- 4:04Speaker 1: coming through, but the Sunday deal this Sunday, the Sunday
- 4:09Speaker 1: front that's coming through. Okay again North Florida Panhandle. And
- 4:12Speaker 1: they said if that happened, it won't be anything like
- 4:15Speaker 1: last year's event. If it even happens, Well, I can
- 4:18Speaker 1: tell you.
- 4:20Speaker 2: I think last year's event with the snow, granted it
- 4:23Speaker 2: didn't affect us, but I think it made a lot
- 4:25Speaker 2: of kids happy. I saw so many and I know
- 4:28Speaker 2: you did too, because didn't your niece go to f
- 4:30Speaker 2: s EO.
- 4:31Speaker 1: She does, She's still there.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Yeah, all the snowball flights and all the video going around.
- 4:35Speaker 2: I'm sorry, but if you're from out of town in.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Florida, that shit's like, really that's exciting. Well, it's also
- 4:43Speaker 1: causes issues. You don't cities in Florida don't have snow
- 4:47Speaker 1: removal equipment. You get although the state after last year's
- 4:53Speaker 1: situation when there were a couple areas it got ten
- 4:55Speaker 1: inches of snow, that's significant. That's insane, and that'll paralyze
- 5:00Speaker 1: town that doesn't have any snow removal equipment. I saw
- 5:02Speaker 1: the state did budget and purchase several like snowplow type
- 5:08Speaker 1: equipped vehicles that they can put into areas where if
- 5:12Speaker 1: and when that ever happens again, they can be ready
- 5:14Speaker 1: to go.
- 5:14Speaker 2: The cult you know, the band they should put out
- 5:16Speaker 2: a song called Snow Removal Machine. It just it hit me,
- 5:23Speaker 2: I have a parody band.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Have we ever talked about your parody band that you
- 5:29Speaker 1: had ever since you were what in grade school? Yeah?
- 5:32Speaker 2: We have talked about it, but I don't think I
- 5:35Speaker 2: don't think we have on the on the podcast podcast. Yeah,
- 5:38Speaker 2: it's called a JST, which stands for Junior Swat Team.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Pat's been inducted into the band.
- 5:44Speaker 1: I'm an honorary satellite member from what I understand.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Yeah, it was when we grew up. Delta Day's older sister, Christine.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Does she have a nickname, by the way, because everybody
- 5:56Speaker 1: you know, Okay, anyway, just verifying.
- 6:00Speaker 2: So she was in the SWAT team. They were like
- 6:03Speaker 2: these hot and cool chicks, like the cool hot chicks
- 6:07Speaker 2: at Winter Park High and uh and swat was like
- 6:11Speaker 2: for she.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Older than we older or younger than you older? Oh okay,
- 6:15Speaker 1: just by like a year. But still when you're that age,
- 6:18Speaker 1: you're like a girl who's a year older, You're like, yeah,
- 6:21Speaker 1: probably maybe two years older. But yeah, and her friends.
- 6:24Speaker 2: One thing, her friends too. I mean she ran with
- 6:28Speaker 2: a pack of chicks that were probably you know, the
- 6:31Speaker 2: some of the hottest in Mortar Parks. Anyway, they had
- 6:33Speaker 2: the SWAT team. So and they still hang out. Did
- 6:37Speaker 2: I tell you they did a trip.
- 6:38Speaker 1: The girls the SWAT team.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Okay, and and yeah, and I always sound stupid, but
- 6:43Speaker 2: they did swat team because you know, smoking weed and stuff.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Have any of the people you grew up with moved away?
- 6:50Speaker 2: Why would you move from here? But yes, people have.
- 6:52Speaker 1: I moved away from where I grew up lots of
- 6:55Speaker 1: people do.
- 6:55Speaker 2: But I mean in Orlando, you're right in the heart
- 6:58Speaker 2: of it. You have the be each within reach. You
- 7:01Speaker 2: have the woods if you want to go hunting, you
- 7:04Speaker 2: have lakes all around.
- 7:05Speaker 1: I just have any of your friends moved away?
- 7:09Speaker 2: Yeah, Twitchell, you know he lives in Cali. Ship he
- 7:15Speaker 2: moved to Hawaii and then uh, and then moved back
- 7:18Speaker 2: to California. Because just big surf guy Cob lives in Atlanta,
- 7:24Speaker 2: are in Georgia, so yeah, but not many.
- 7:27Speaker 1: I mean, so back to the junior swat team.
- 7:31Speaker 2: So swat team was the hot chicks, and it was
- 7:33Speaker 2: this group and we looked up to him. We're like,
- 7:35Speaker 2: oh my god, I would do so many things with
- 7:37Speaker 2: her and whatever. But then it turned into we were
- 7:40Speaker 2: Junior Swat Team JST and.
- 7:44Speaker 1: As in junior high school swat team.
- 7:46Speaker 2: No, we were the juniors of the real swat team.
- 7:48Speaker 1: Okay, they were the swat team.
- 7:50Speaker 2: We were the juniors. So and then we'd make up
- 7:53Speaker 2: songs and it all started with uh the hit number one,
- 7:57Speaker 2: huge hit, Bloody boogers and smelly farts. You gotta remember, Okay,
- 8:03Speaker 2: dial up back some we were in junior high.
- 8:06Speaker 1: At the time. That's kind of what I was getting in. No,
- 8:08Speaker 1: it wasn't junior for that.
- 8:09Speaker 2: We were just the smaller swat team. Okay, so we
- 8:13Speaker 2: had the mentality of a seventh and eighth grade, you know.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Because you were in seventh and eighth exactly. Yes, So
- 8:19Speaker 1: bloody booger, smiley farts, how much you've advanced.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Hell's Bells, um pop and Gnarls, some boner? Okay, that's
- 8:27Speaker 2: a CDC cover.
- 8:30Speaker 1: It's all cover tunes.
- 8:32Speaker 2: What was the other one?
- 8:35Speaker 1: Shout shout let it all out.
- 8:36Speaker 2: These are the things I can do without called drugs
- 8:39Speaker 2: except for alcohol. And then we had we had big,
- 8:43Speaker 2: big sites in our system. But since then, ask Pat
- 8:47Speaker 2: being the honoree that we whatever the hell you are
- 8:51Speaker 2: an inductee that.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Become an unofficial satellite member is what I feel like.
- 8:56Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, that's who you are. But every now and
- 8:58Speaker 2: then you bust out some lyrics. It all backfired my
- 9:01Speaker 2: face One day when I was listening to JRR on
- 9:04Speaker 2: the way home from picking up my daughter from Catholic school, and.
- 9:08Speaker 1: I think she was in fourth grade.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Maybe I don't know, but what I said in front
- 9:15Speaker 2: of her is kind of something that you shouldn't.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Do improper lyrics as in the tradition of the Junior
- 9:21Speaker 1: Swat Team babes exactly, and you just blurted it out.
- 9:25Speaker 2: But it was Metallica and I was jamming Harvester of
- 9:29Speaker 2: Sorrow and I bust out with Harvester a body and
- 9:34Speaker 2: she goes, eh, gross, where did you say? That's the
- 9:40Speaker 2: one that I used to when we were driving, I
- 9:43Speaker 2: would cut a fart. I had I stored videos a
- 9:46Speaker 2: while back where I had cut a huge fart in
- 9:49Speaker 2: my hand like this and then throw it back without
- 9:52Speaker 2: her knowing, and then keep all the windows up. Got
- 9:56Speaker 2: a great video to share with you on that. I
- 9:58Speaker 2: was going to do a big YouTube videos with that,
- 10:01Speaker 2: but it never advanced. Harvester of butt Hair, Yeah, got
- 10:06Speaker 2: a lot man, so yeah, Junior Swat Team represent man.
- 10:11Speaker 2: I had a walker Rude Boy skateboard with js T
- 10:15Speaker 2: written on the bottom. M We were legends ahead of
- 10:19Speaker 2: our own time.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Seriously, okay, all right?
- 10:23Speaker 2: Uh oh yeah, we make ups. We were you know
- 10:26Speaker 2: what we were doing the ship that weird Al's doing
- 10:29Speaker 2: before he even did it.
- 10:30Speaker 1: If I think about it, I don't think so well.
- 10:33Speaker 1: When it beat it out and beat it come out,
- 10:35Speaker 1: you know, probably weird al was probably your inspiration for
- 10:40Speaker 1: doing this. You do can't remember that, come.
- 10:43Speaker 2: On, just because of our thing was named after pot
- 10:46Speaker 2: And I'm reading back different texts from the show because
- 10:53Speaker 2: you know I can multitask.
- 10:54Speaker 1: I guess sure, Yeah, you're very good at that. And
- 10:57Speaker 1: I swear to got today. I had to. If you
- 11:00Speaker 1: were listening to the show this morning, the earlier idiotology,
- 11:03Speaker 1: we are situated as we are if you're watching this
- 11:06Speaker 1: right now the podcast. This is our broadcast position when
- 11:09Speaker 1: we're doing the show live each morning.
- 11:11Speaker 2: And if you're not watching the podcast, Pat is on
- 11:13Speaker 2: one side of a board and I am. There's a
- 11:17Speaker 2: mechanical board in between us with all of the controls,
- 11:20Speaker 2: and I'm on the other side of it.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Hey, all right, I'm behind the audio on the tape.
- 11:23Speaker 1: I'm behind the audio board running you know the stuff
- 11:26Speaker 1: in Bob's kickback with his feet up as he describes
- 11:29Speaker 1: we're doing one of the idiotologies, and I'm going into
- 11:32Speaker 1: the story and I look over and he is just
- 11:36Speaker 1: staring at the TV. And I thought, and I just stopped.
- 11:40Speaker 1: I stopped talking. If you go back to the podcast
- 11:42Speaker 1: and listen from earlier, I just stopped and I it
- 11:46Speaker 1: was probably five seconds really before you even realized that
- 11:51Speaker 1: I just stopped and we had dead air.
- 11:54Speaker 2: I wonder what I was watching?
- 11:56Speaker 1: You do it every morning?
- 11:57Speaker 2: Man? A squirrel mentality, I know.
- 12:00Speaker 1: So it's like I'm almost it's like, damned if you
- 12:03Speaker 1: do damned if you don't with this TV in you.
- 12:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I was watching something that must have
- 12:08Speaker 2: been important.
- 12:09Speaker 1: The only thing that's been odd was the news all morning.
- 12:11Speaker 1: And you don't give a damn about the news.
- 12:12Speaker 2: No, but I like the hot chicks on it JSD
- 12:15Speaker 2: for a life man. No. So yeah, when people will
- 12:19Speaker 2: see and they go, what is Bob looking at to
- 12:21Speaker 2: the right when I'm doing this is because we have
- 12:23Speaker 2: a big TV up there, and I get sidetracked a.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Lot, so I'm staring at him and I almost threw
- 12:32Speaker 1: out some snotty comment like, I guess you're not interested
- 12:35Speaker 1: in this.
- 12:37Speaker 2: It was during an idiotology.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Yeah, it was during idiotology.
- 12:40Speaker 2: Okay, which one they Uh?
- 12:43Speaker 1: No, it was the early one. Yeah, it was the
- 12:45Speaker 1: early one.
- 12:46Speaker 2: But anyway, very strange.
- 12:49Speaker 1: So so, uh, all right, where are we going?
- 12:52Speaker 2: I was saying, I was reading the text on because
- 12:54Speaker 2: I'm a multitasker, right, Yes, they even remember what I
- 12:57Speaker 2: was talking about.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:58Speaker 2: So I was reading the text on kind of just
- 13:00Speaker 2: scrolling through, and I just come across the text we
- 13:03Speaker 2: were talking earlier during the on air show about Welcome
- 13:09Speaker 2: to Rockville in Daytona Beach, Yeah, which j R. R.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Is a proud partner with, and we're gonna be out
- 13:13Speaker 2: there May.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:14Speaker 2: And at the exact same weekend, Rolling Loud is here
- 13:20Speaker 2: in Orlando, which they.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Just announced the lineup for, and we were marveling at
- 13:25Speaker 1: the acts that we had never heard of. I heard of,
- 13:28Speaker 1: which album I've heard of? None of those artists that
- 13:31Speaker 1: are performing at that event at Camping World Stadium. We're
- 13:34Speaker 1: on the grounds of Camping World Stadium.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Somebody texted in the reason why I was bringing it
- 13:38Speaker 2: up Rolling Loud question mark ghetto. I can hear the
- 13:45Speaker 2: gunfire already.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Now that's not fair.
- 13:48Speaker 2: No, No, I know what they're doing, what they're saying,
- 13:50Speaker 2: because the location of it whatever, that isn't fair. But
- 13:54Speaker 2: I believe that they's it's not in Miami for a
- 13:57Speaker 2: reason anymore. They and I hoped, I hope there's no
- 14:00Speaker 2: trouble brought here.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Did have some issues when this event was in Miami
- 14:05Speaker 1: previous years.
- 14:05Speaker 2: That is accurate, huh that somebody else said based off
- 14:10Speaker 2: genre of music. I wonder what the arrest amounts will be.
- 14:13Speaker 2: They said Rockville Daytona less than fifty. And I'm reading
- 14:16Speaker 2: of this because I remember the stat from last year
- 14:18Speaker 2: less than fifty. My guys, we're rolling out more than fifty.
- 14:21Speaker 1: You know, it's fine with Rockville. Last year was an
- 14:24Speaker 1: idiot nothing. The only arrest were those asshole packs of
- 14:27Speaker 1: thieves that were here illegally. I might add remember that
- 14:31Speaker 1: they came in from wherever the hell they were and
- 14:33Speaker 1: were stealing your cell phones.
- 14:35Speaker 2: And luckily cops recovered a lot of those. Thank you
- 14:39Speaker 2: to all you men and lady cops that took care
- 14:41Speaker 2: of business.
- 14:41Speaker 1: And they realized they were proactive last year because the
- 14:45Speaker 1: year before is when they got kind of caught unprepared
- 14:49Speaker 1: for that pack to come in and you know, so
- 14:52Speaker 1: many people had their phone stolen. They put together a
- 14:55Speaker 1: little bit of a team that was sort of undercovered,
- 14:58Speaker 1: kept their eyes open for this, mailed them all for
- 15:01Speaker 1: the most part last year, which beautiful. That was probably
- 15:04Speaker 1: ninety five percent of the arrests last year, and everybody
- 15:08Speaker 1: else just you know.
- 15:09Speaker 2: No, we marveled at it because we did a segment
- 15:12Speaker 2: after rockfelt and said, you have all these I remember
- 15:18Speaker 2: you saying the difference between rock music and a lot
- 15:21Speaker 2: of other concerts and whatever.
- 15:22Speaker 1: You had hundreds of thousands of people getting together for
- 15:27Speaker 1: the weekend. Yeah, and there were.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Only like it was under I think it was under
- 15:31Speaker 2: five arrests.
- 15:32Speaker 1: No, it was more than that. It was.
- 15:34Speaker 2: It was so minimal for the amount of people that
- 15:36Speaker 2: were there that it was like, good job, because people
- 15:39Speaker 2: are just out there to have fun.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Yeah, It's like and the police at that event weren't
- 15:45Speaker 1: looking to arrest anyone. They were looking to arrest these
- 15:48Speaker 1: phone thieves. Oh, I tell you that. But you know,
- 15:50Speaker 1: other than that, you know, they realize everybody's there to
- 15:53Speaker 1: have a good time, and everybody kind of self polices themselves,
- 15:55Speaker 1: which is good. Yeah, and watches out for others too.
- 16:00Speaker 2: I remember looking at somebody and they their phone was
- 16:03Speaker 2: hanging out of the back of my back pocket. I said,
- 16:07Speaker 2: I said, hey, shove that phone in your front pocket
- 16:10Speaker 2: so people, you know, steal.
- 16:12Speaker 1: Well, we'll see how that other festival goes with it
- 16:15Speaker 1: having its Orlando debut. I hope it goes well. I
- 16:19Speaker 1: hope all of them. We don't wish trouble on anything. No, no, anyway,
- 16:23Speaker 1: same weekend. That is really strange that they would do
- 16:26Speaker 1: them on the same weekend.
- 16:27Speaker 2: Yeah, pretty wild. But then again, what was last year
- 16:31Speaker 2: Rockville and a CDC same week ac.
- 16:33Speaker 1: DC's one show though it's just two full festivals.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a lot of people working, you know that
- 16:40Speaker 2: industry like I do.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Yeah, uh oh, I need to uh. I brought this
- 16:46Speaker 1: up on the podcast last week because I was having
- 16:48Speaker 1: some new internet service installed at my house week ago Thursday,
- 16:52Speaker 1: and I was curious how that was going to go
- 16:54Speaker 1: because I had had an issue with my current or
- 16:57Speaker 1: my previous internet provider where the service went out for
- 17:00Speaker 1: no good reason whatsoever. There was no inclement weather, there
- 17:04Speaker 1: was no fires or anything that would have caused this outage.
- 17:09Speaker 1: It was out for a day, then it was out
- 17:13Speaker 1: for two days weekdays, I might add, and then we
- 17:18Speaker 1: got on to day three before the provider really even
- 17:23Speaker 1: acknowledged that there was an outage and they were going
- 17:25Speaker 1: to do anything about it. So it ended up being
- 17:27Speaker 1: almost three full days before this came back on, and
- 17:31Speaker 1: I said, the hell with them? These outages have become
- 17:35Speaker 1: more frequent. There's options to go to. I'm usually really
- 17:39Speaker 1: loyal to whatever service or company or what. I'm just
- 17:43Speaker 1: kind of a loyal person and have had this company
- 17:46Speaker 1: for years with relatively few issues. But things have started sliding. Yeah, yes,
- 17:50Speaker 1: brand this was the final straw. And I said to
- 17:53Speaker 1: my wife, I said, I am We're switching. She goes,
- 17:56Speaker 1: that's going to be a big to do is I said, no,
- 17:57Speaker 1: it's not. Let me just take care of it. You
- 17:59Speaker 1: won't have to worry about it, damn thing. So there's
- 18:03Speaker 1: a couple other options in my neighborhood. I ended up
- 18:05Speaker 1: going with T Mobile Fiber okay, which I didn't even
- 18:09Speaker 1: know T Mobile did fiber. I thought they did wireless
- 18:12Speaker 1: home internet, which they also do, but I come to
- 18:15Speaker 1: find out I did some research. One of the neighbors
- 18:17Speaker 1: got it installed and it is they are operating metro
- 18:22Speaker 1: Net now, which is one of those companies that we've
- 18:25Speaker 1: seen around Central Florida over the last few years putting
- 18:27Speaker 1: a conduit and fiber into the ground in a lot
- 18:30Speaker 1: of neighborhoods. So they now operate metro Net. So it's
- 18:33Speaker 1: T Mobile Fiber okay. They I looked them up the
- 18:37Speaker 1: deal they were offering and a next day appointment.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Really, oh yeah, yeah, you told me that that you
- 18:44Speaker 2: were able to book it the next day. And the
- 18:45Speaker 2: guy was texting you during our set Marshall.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Last week at this exact time. Hey man, I could
- 18:50Speaker 1: come early. I said, okay, I'll be home, you know,
- 18:52Speaker 1: by about eleven.
- 18:54Speaker 2: How do you hear that from from a company about
- 18:56Speaker 2: an appointment?
- 18:57Speaker 1: Never? No, never, So it's off to a good starr.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Get to the house. He gots there about ten after eleven,
- 19:04Speaker 1: gets to work and I say, you need anything from me?
- 19:07Speaker 1: He said, no, I need to get in the house
- 19:08Speaker 1: in a little while. He went and did his thing.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Installed the line which it's a temporary line you know
- 19:14Speaker 1: that goes rolling across the grass until the utilities folks
- 19:19Speaker 1: come out in mark where the buried stuff is so
- 19:22Speaker 1: they can bury that. But it's up, it's running. It's great,
- 19:25Speaker 1: and the deal I ended up with phenomenal, twice the speed.
- 19:30Speaker 1: The price is ten dollars more than I was paying.
- 19:33Speaker 1: It's a ten year price lock. Now that's pretty sweet
- 19:37Speaker 1: with no contract, and the equipment was all free and
- 19:42Speaker 1: it's brand new Wi Fi seven equipment which I just curiosity.
- 19:47Speaker 1: I looked it up to what they were. The equipment
- 19:50Speaker 1: they're offering is the Amazon euro Wi Fi Routers Pro
- 19:54Speaker 1: seven model. Huh. They gave me three terminals for my house,
- 19:59Speaker 1: which is overkill. Those three terminals will cover six thousand
- 20:05Speaker 1: square feet. Wow. So I was just curious. After I
- 20:10Speaker 1: got up and running, I went out with my phone
- 20:12Speaker 1: and walked around the perimeter of my property and never
- 20:17Speaker 1: lost any signal at all anywhere on my property, inside
- 20:21Speaker 1: or out. I'm like, right on, good stuff.
- 20:24Speaker 2: Now let's see how long it takes for them to
- 20:27Speaker 2: bury it, because it doesn't sound like it's going to
- 20:29Speaker 2: take a long time.
- 20:30Speaker 1: I just know my parents, Well, the first utility was
- 20:33Speaker 1: out yesterday marked their stuff, and now I need I'm
- 20:36Speaker 1: waiting on electric and water to mark theirs. Okay, and
- 20:39Speaker 1: then I can tell you the neighbor who went through
- 20:41Speaker 1: this process, which I watched the whole thing from install
- 20:45Speaker 1: to it being buried, was under two weeks.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Good, I just I asked, because we all know people
- 20:51Speaker 2: that have had it sitting my parents over two months,
- 20:56Speaker 2: probably probably three months. The cable just running right across
- 21:00Speaker 2: their approach, walkway right down and well Doyle does there
- 21:05Speaker 2: he are too.
- 21:06Speaker 1: So, yeah, you do worry about somebody running it over
- 21:08Speaker 1: with a mower or something, but there's really not any
- 21:11Speaker 1: way around it, because that's what you got to do. Yeah,
- 21:13Speaker 1: that's what you got to do it to have it
- 21:15Speaker 1: done right.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Unless you got all the stuff marked ahead of time.
- 21:18Speaker 2: I guess you could do that.
- 21:20Speaker 1: It's not your job, it's not my job. And I
- 21:21Speaker 1: have no idea where they're going to run this wire anyway.
- 21:24Speaker 1: I don't know where their connection terminal is or whatever.
- 21:27Speaker 1: And so, but just I couldn't be happier. There's there's
- 21:30Speaker 1: no contract commitment. I can get out of this anytime
- 21:34Speaker 1: I want.
- 21:34Speaker 2: I heard you mentioned no contract. Then how do you
- 21:37Speaker 2: have a ten year guarantee? If there's no contract.
- 21:39Speaker 1: As long as I keep this offer, it's good for
- 21:41Speaker 1: ten years at this price. That's awesome. Oh, I'm not
- 21:44Speaker 1: doubting you're good for you And they gave it to
- 21:46Speaker 1: me in writing good for you, so solid. I love competition, man,
- 21:54Speaker 1: Competition is good and the best part though I haven't
- 21:58Speaker 1: got to the best part, and it's where I wanted
- 21:59Speaker 1: up day yetie. No, once this was connected and up
- 22:03Speaker 1: and running, and I was sure I liked and whatever job.
- 22:06Speaker 1: No think of that, man, Hey, here's your cable now.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Firing the previous company.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that's a great feeling.
- 22:14Speaker 1: I don't like seeing anybody get fired. I don't like
- 22:18Speaker 1: firing anybody, which I've had to do at a work setting.
- 22:20Speaker 1: It sucks. But in this case, where you I don't
- 22:24Speaker 1: even like where you fire a utility that has just
- 22:28Speaker 1: been giving you, or a service it's has been giving
- 22:31Speaker 1: you subpar, it is a good feeling, man. And it's
- 22:35Speaker 1: just this, this, this was the the cherry on top
- 22:38Speaker 1: of it all. I go on into my account for
- 22:41Speaker 1: the previous company that I've had for the last eight
- 22:43Speaker 1: nine years, and there is I found where it is
- 22:47Speaker 1: to cancel your service. Wouldn't let you cancel it online.
- 22:52Speaker 1: So now I'm going, oh, Jesus Christ, I've got to
- 22:54Speaker 1: call these people now. And you know what it's like
- 22:56Speaker 1: trying to call any place now, You're going to get
- 22:59Speaker 1: stuck in this. And I finally get someone on the
- 23:02Speaker 1: line and after about twenty minutes and they tried to well,
- 23:07Speaker 1: why are you, you know, trying to keep my service?
- 23:11Speaker 1: I'm like, no, Na, We're way past this. At this point.
- 23:14Speaker 1: I'm like, just cancel this.
- 23:17Speaker 2: Every day that went by without him having power.
- 23:20Speaker 1: And again, well, it's not power is internet?
- 23:22Speaker 2: I mean internet. We mentioned it before on last week's podcast.
- 23:26Speaker 2: Every day that went by. You got to remember he
- 23:29Speaker 2: has worked that he does from home. I said, Pat,
- 23:31Speaker 2: just think about it like this, each day as a
- 23:33Speaker 2: nail in the coffin. That coffin was already nailed. Shuts.
- 23:37Speaker 1: It was. I was so stacked up and behind on
- 23:39Speaker 1: the other stations that I do for this company that
- 23:42Speaker 1: I was ready to just lose my effing mind. So
- 23:49Speaker 1: I'm glad it worked out to have it done, and
- 23:51Speaker 1: I couldn't be happier. And yeah, I just it's just
- 23:55Speaker 1: it was a good feeling to finally get them to cans. Oh.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Then he throws in. He throws in one last ball
- 24:00Speaker 1: after it's clear that he can't get me to stay
- 24:02Speaker 1: because now, uh, you have to return that terminal or
- 24:06Speaker 1: we're gonna find you four hundred dollars.
- 24:08Speaker 2: I go, you know what I'm gonna do more than return,
- 24:11Speaker 2: I'm gonna come down there and shove it up your ass, sir.
- 24:14Speaker 1: And I did. I said, give me an address and
- 24:15Speaker 1: I'll bring it to you in person. He goes, well,
- 24:17Speaker 1: we're we're gonna, uh, we'll give you a shipping label
- 24:22Speaker 1: that you can then put take the terminal and put
- 24:25Speaker 1: it in a box and take it to you know,
- 24:27Speaker 1: ups or something. So that's what I did, and I
- 24:30Speaker 1: did it the same day. Get this hell out of here.
- 24:34Speaker 1: I'm done with you all. You're fired. Fired.
- 24:37Speaker 2: So yeah, that's like when I canceled, when I finally
- 24:41Speaker 2: cut the cord.
- 24:42Speaker 1: With no you know what I mean. By the way,
- 24:44Speaker 1: I'm not mentioning that the company that I was so
- 24:47Speaker 1: frustrated with, I'm just I'm not going to because all
- 24:50Speaker 1: that is is setting myself up for problems for the
- 24:52Speaker 1: company I work for in case they're a client or something.
- 24:55Speaker 1: It's just just know that it's not that I'm trying
- 24:57Speaker 1: to hide anything. I'm just being realistic here and I'm
- 24:59Speaker 1: not not going to create problems for myself. And as
- 25:03Speaker 1: much as I'd love to bury him under the bus.
- 25:06Speaker 2: Don't do it. Yeah, that was like when I talked
- 25:11Speaker 2: I was finally cutting the cord and I had phone, internet,
- 25:16Speaker 2: cable all in one thing mm hm, and I just
- 25:19Speaker 2: left it at called and said, I don't even have
- 25:22Speaker 2: a home phone.
- 25:23Speaker 1: You didn't. I marveled at this it bob over here,
- 25:26Speaker 1: as he nicknames himself. Do you remember paying for a
- 25:29Speaker 1: bundle including home phone service, which never he never had,
- 25:32Speaker 1: but they wouldn't they would never handle it.
- 25:35Speaker 2: So I had home phone, pat. I had a home
- 25:39Speaker 2: phone for years. But then the squirrels got in there.
- 25:43Speaker 2: Remember when I was bobbed the squirrel hunter. That was
- 25:45Speaker 2: just as damn squirrels ate all the phone lines. And
- 25:48Speaker 2: some guy comes out a little heavy and said, man,
- 25:52Speaker 2: I'm gonna have fa lp there for like five hours.
- 25:55Speaker 2: I said, I don't even need a phone. I said,
- 25:57Speaker 2: we all have phones. This is before people got rid
- 25:59Speaker 2: of homephones. I was like an innovator of that anyway.
- 26:02Speaker 2: So then I called I called the lady. It's so
- 26:06Speaker 2: he's the lady. I call the lady and said, yeah,
- 26:10Speaker 2: I don't have a home phone. Your guy couldn't get
- 26:13Speaker 2: up there because there's a fat I didn't really get
- 26:15Speaker 2: into that, but I go, he couldn't get up there,
- 26:17Speaker 2: he'd be there for five hours. He was already six
- 26:20Speaker 2: hours late. And so cut the damn phone. I said,
- 26:23Speaker 2: I said, take it out of my plan. Well, are
- 26:25Speaker 2: you gonna pay more that way?
- 26:27Speaker 1: Yes? Yeah, you remember that? Yeah, And that's where. I said, ma'am,
- 26:30Speaker 1: she was sweet. I got you coming and going. Man,
- 26:32Speaker 1: she was a sweet lady.
- 26:33Speaker 2: And she I could just tell and I go, ma'am,
- 26:36Speaker 2: you know what, I have a question for.
- 26:38Speaker 1: You when you pull up. I said, this is not
- 26:41Speaker 1: nothing to do with your company. I said, a question
- 26:43Speaker 1: for you.
- 26:44Speaker 2: When you pull up to a gas station. Are you
- 26:47Speaker 2: going to uh pay for the ninety two octane but
- 26:53Speaker 2: pump the shitty one in there? She goes, what, I go,
- 26:58Speaker 2: just follow me. I don't know. If you get some gas,
- 27:01Speaker 2: you can pay for the more expensive grade and use
- 27:03Speaker 2: the crappier grade.
- 27:04Speaker 1: And she goes, no, I go last, with this whole deal,
- 27:10Speaker 1: the bundle that you do, the bundle. That's the other
- 27:14Speaker 1: thing about this. With the t Bobo fiber, that's all
- 27:17Speaker 1: I have. I don't have to sign up for phone
- 27:19Speaker 1: service for them, or wireless service or anything else. It's
- 27:24Speaker 1: that that's the way it should be. Here's your price.
- 27:26Speaker 1: It's good for ten years as long as you keep
- 27:29Speaker 1: that service.
- 27:29Speaker 2: I like it. I'm happy for you.
- 27:31Speaker 1: I know that was making you crazy, and especially that
- 27:34Speaker 1: it was.
- 27:34Speaker 2: The day of the National championship. Oh my god, well
- 27:41Speaker 2: playoff with his canes so because that's that's why we
- 27:45Speaker 2: brought it up last week on the podcast.
- 27:47Speaker 1: So all right, it's settled. Now It's to the championship
- 27:50Speaker 1: Monday night. Baby, We'll see, we'll see you see. Those
- 27:53Speaker 1: ticket prices are just yeah, no thanks. Even if I
- 27:58Speaker 1: wanted to go to that, I want to know, no way,
- 28:02Speaker 1: I want, no way. I would be so sorry for
- 28:06Speaker 1: spending that kind of money on anything. No way, Oh no, no,
- 28:11Speaker 1: because we're.
- 28:14Speaker 2: Not. We have a kind of frugal and we're just
- 28:16Speaker 2: there's more important things to spend money on.
- 28:18Speaker 1: You know.
- 28:19Speaker 2: So I was watching a shocker Pat McAfee yesterday, and
- 28:24Speaker 2: even an ex.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Pro football player, you admitted, Yeah, I've said I tried
- 28:30Speaker 1: get him on our show. I reached out to him.
- 28:33Speaker 2: Didn't hit me back, of course, so I know, because
- 28:35Speaker 2: he's a busy dude. I get that. But I said, hey,
- 28:37Speaker 2: kind of a man man crush. And then you know,
- 28:39Speaker 2: followed up with if you could just email me your
- 28:41Speaker 2: old school email me directly, because I you know, my
- 28:43Speaker 2: socials are a headache whatever. And then I realized that
- 28:47Speaker 2: more that I listened, I was like, and watch, I
- 28:49Speaker 2: was like, wow, he's all about socials. He probably looked
- 28:52Speaker 2: at it and goes, look at this dirt ball.
- 28:55Speaker 1: But anyway, so one of the people on his show,
- 28:57Speaker 1: one of them, they're all a lot of them are.
- 28:59Speaker 2: Athlete, but in former athletes. But one of them pro
- 29:04Speaker 2: football player played for a while, has money obviously, all right,
- 29:09Speaker 2: even he said, yeah, I'm trying to get some tickets
- 29:12Speaker 2: for that Canes game. He goes, not having much luck though,
- 29:16Speaker 2: So yeah, they're a hard tough ticket to get. If
- 29:18Speaker 2: a X pro who played for that long, oh.
- 29:21Speaker 1: You can get the ticket. That's what I hate about
- 29:27Speaker 1: entertainment in general, now sports and or entertainment. It's just
- 29:32Speaker 1: don't don't.
- 29:33Speaker 2: We're not leaving here on high blood pressure.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Mark, I'm going to get a haircut.
- 29:38Speaker 2: I don't know what that has to do with anymore.
- 29:40Speaker 2: I don't want you to being stressed out.
- 29:42Speaker 1: I'm good to go, man. Tomorrow's Friday. Nice cool air,
- 29:46Speaker 1: coming in, nice cold air, coming in, love it, love
- 29:50Speaker 1: it all right, Okay, we're gonna get get the hell
- 29:53Speaker 1: out of here. Thank you for checking out the Lynching
- 29:56Speaker 1: Taco Off the Air podcast. Let somebody know who might
- 30:01Speaker 1: be into this type of stuff, about this existing existing
- 30:04Speaker 1: and turn them onto it. If not, we get it
- 30:07Speaker 1: that's cool, or if you want to meet us back
- 30:10Speaker 1: here tomorrow. Every morning, we're here at five, get off
