- 0:27Hey, everybody. Good morning from the chicken
- 0:29coop. So today I want to talk to you
- 0:31about the art of managing your state, a phrase that my children
- 0:35are not necessarily a fan of, but they learned it anyway.
- 0:39What does managing your state mean?
- 0:41Well, it means that many components make up our state.
- 0:44It's our our, our words, our emotions, if you will, permeate
- 0:50from us. So the energy we're putting off,
- 0:52it's how you're conducting yourself physiologically.
- 0:56Are you moving? Are you moving fast?
- 0:58Are you moving slow? Are you in an angry state?
- 1:03All of these different components kind of come up how
- 1:07your tone is showing up out of your when you're speaking, are
- 1:10you listening or are you just like, not listening at all?
- 1:13You're just like, I'm going to ignore this whole entire thing.
- 1:17Your state is everything about you.
- 1:19So we'll often say that, you know, the only thing that we can
- 1:25control is our self. That's it.
- 1:28We don't. There's nothing else that we can
- 1:29control, but we can control our ourselves.
- 1:32And that is one of the hardest things to do is to control
- 1:35yourself. But I like to refer to this as
- 1:37managing your state, because it really is true.
- 1:40You are the manager here. Nobody else can get in and do it
- 1:43for you. Even if you think people can,
- 1:46they're forcing you to do it. But eventually you are the one
- 1:50that surrenders or you are the one who fights back.
- 1:52So state management is the key to you going out in the world
- 1:58and successfully navigating during the day and not having
- 2:02other people push your buttons. Because if you're managing your
- 2:04state, you should be able to go out and fulfil what you have
- 2:09intended to fulfil during the day.
- 2:11Now, a part of this I refer to as sensory acuity.
- 2:15So sensory acuity means I'm using all of my senses to bring
- 2:19information to me, not just one of my senses to bring
- 2:22information to me. And this is important because
- 2:25all of our senses are meant to be used like this.
- 2:27So you have to rely on not just sight, but you have to rely on
- 2:32your sound. You have to rely on your smell,
- 2:34you have to rely on touch feeling.
- 2:37You have to give yourself the scope of all of it.
- 2:40So like right now, I can tell you there is a big amount of
- 2:44energy coming from the chicken coop, as you can all hear.
- 2:46And I could sit here and I could ignore it, but I'm going to use
- 2:50it as part of this because it just amped up and it's all about
- 2:53state management. This is all going on because
- 2:55again, someone is in a box and someone wants to get in that box
- 3:00to lay an egg. What's funny is, as you heard me
- 3:03say before, there are eight boxes.
- 3:06So one of my Spanish hens wants to get into a box and someones
- 3:10in there and now she's getting everybody riled up about the
- 3:13fact that that box is being used.
- 3:16Others don't even want to use that box, but she's causing
- 3:18she's stirring the pot and she is not managing her own state.
- 3:23She's angry because someones in that box and she's in the face
- 3:27and now all of a sudden she's putting off that energy.
- 3:29All these other hands that are responding are not even in the
- 3:33coop. They're outside of it.
- 3:35And this is such a great metaphor.
- 3:36And it just happened to fall into my lap right this moment
- 3:38because this is what people do. They get riled up about things
- 3:42that aren't even, you know, concerning them in the moment.
- 3:45Why do these other chickens getting all riled up because of
- 3:48her energy and she's not managing her state.
- 3:50She could easily choose another box.
- 3:53All the other boxes are open except the one that she wants,
- 3:57and she will not go to one of the other seven boxes.
- 4:00So is that reasonable? Well, you know, in chicken world
- 4:04this happens all the time. But in human world, we have to
- 4:07ask ourselves, is this reasonable?
- 4:09No, it's not there. There's a very easy way around
- 4:12this. If she was managing her state,
- 4:14she could pick a different box. But she's not managing her
- 4:17state. She's going to be in that other
- 4:19chicken's face until that chicken decides to leave, and
- 4:22then she can have the box, which it sounds like That's what's
- 4:25happening right now. She screamed in her face until
- 4:27somebody else left. And then she could get in that
- 4:29box. So I noticed when she quieted
- 4:32down, everybody quieted down. It's fascinating how this works,
- 4:37but energy is everything and it permeates nature in every single
- 4:40way. So when we're talking about
- 4:43this, managing your state, you have to look at this and say,
- 4:47OK, what am I bringing to the table for myself, and am I using
- 4:52all of my senses to understand it?
- 4:55Not just my sound or my sight, but all of them?
- 4:58Am I taking it all in? Am I using everything so that I
- 5:02can really have an artful response to this, as opposed to
- 5:06just flying off the handle, living by whatever's going on
- 5:11around me and going from there? Because that's what's happened
- 5:14with the chickens. They just respond to whatever's
- 5:17going on around them and they have no clue.
- 5:18They have no clue why they got upset.
- 5:20They just know they got upset and then that therefore they
- 5:23have to squawk and be part of it, but for no reason.
- 5:26And you don't want to be like that because that's not being
- 5:28artful or thoughtful. All that's doing is living in
- 5:31response, which we've talked about before as opposed, you
- 5:34know, I mean living in reaction rather than response.
- 5:36It's just going off in a different direction.
- 5:40So what's important right now is to remember sensory acuity gives
- 5:45you the ability to add to this OK in multiple ways with all of
- 5:50your senses. And managing your state means
- 5:53you're choosing and you're thoughtfully coming up with how
- 5:57you want to show up and not just living in reaction.
- 6:01So hopefully this helps you today to some food for thought
- 6:05about yourself as you go off into the world and I will see
- 6:08you guys tomorrow. Have a blessed day.
- 6:10Bye.
