- 1:51Speaker 1: here as normal, anxious to kind of get you guys' thoughts.
- 1:57Speaker 2: On this last week. And then we'll look at Notre Dame.
- 2:02Speaker 8: I thought A and M was improved, but I actually
- 2:06Speaker 8: expect more improvement than I saw, particularly on defense. The
- 2:11Speaker 8: fact that they allowed two touchdown drives to a team
- 2:14Speaker 8: that and that concerns me when you're at home and
- 2:18Speaker 8: you've got to go on the road. And that being
- 2:22Speaker 8: said is it's hard to be picky when you win
- 2:24Speaker 8: by twenty two. But that's why they pay me to
- 2:27Speaker 8: be picky. And I thought the defense should have been better.
- 2:30Speaker 9: Yeah, I thought it was just a whole home kind
- 2:33Speaker 9: of took care of business, didn't do anything that was
- 2:36Speaker 9: just really totally spectacular.
- 2:37Speaker 5: There wasn't a lot that.
- 2:39Speaker 9: I didn't like, except maybe the way they came out
- 2:41Speaker 9: of the half on both sides of go you know.
- 2:44Speaker 9: I mean, they gave up the touchdown drive and then
- 2:47Speaker 9: they came out and they didn't do anything with ball offensively,
- 2:50Speaker 9: and that's the second straight week they've done that, and
- 2:52Speaker 9: so that's a little alarming. I'd like to see them
- 2:55Speaker 9: come out of the locker room in a little flow state.
- 3:00Speaker 8: So thank you.
- 3:01Speaker 5: Yeah, I catches how I gotta I go.
- 3:06Speaker 10: Too.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm just trying to get there, man.
- 3:09Speaker 9: Sometimes you know, when I'm riding, I'm always looking for
- 3:12Speaker 9: that flow state.
- 3:14Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 3:15Speaker 8: I thought both weeks they had a chance to kill somebody.
- 3:19Speaker 8: That's very fair. Fair to them. And you see all
- 3:22Speaker 8: across some of these teams are beating people sixty nine.
- 3:25Speaker 8: And don't get me wrong, I don't think people should
- 3:28Speaker 8: run up the score, and the sportsmanship does still matter
- 3:31Speaker 8: in my book, but they had chances to put the team,
- 3:33Speaker 8: both teams away earlier and didn't do it. And that's
- 3:36Speaker 8: the thing, because you're not gonna get too many chances.
- 3:38Speaker 8: Now you're going to be in the SEC and so
- 3:40Speaker 8: suddenly when you don't, when you have a lullaby, so
- 3:43Speaker 8: to speak, the other team's going to score points.
- 3:46Speaker 9: Well, one week ago today, I think Chip asked me
- 3:50Speaker 9: what I want to see, and I said I wanted
- 3:53Speaker 9: to see Miles O'Neil, but I didn't want to see
- 3:56Speaker 9: him come and after an injury, right right, No, And
- 3:59Speaker 9: I was like, you know.
- 4:00Speaker 5: Because Marcel Reid's was still out there because the ANDHM
- 4:03Speaker 5: hadn't done enough correct And you know, I mean he wasn't.
- 4:06Speaker 2: I don't think.
- 4:07Speaker 9: Elko was satisfied with what they had done, and so
- 4:10Speaker 9: that's the reason he was out there so long. So
- 4:12Speaker 9: I did see Miles red. I saw one really good pass.
- 4:16Speaker 9: I saw Miles O'Neil, uh, thank you. I saw one
- 4:20Speaker 9: really good pass. I saw one really horrific pass. I
- 4:23Speaker 9: mean it's like, did he not see them? I was like,
- 4:26Speaker 9: oh my gosh, did you see it?
- 4:28Speaker 8: One time? He had happy feet so bad I was laughing,
- 4:30Speaker 8: and I mean the guy the kid out of me
- 4:32Speaker 8: jacked up because the game mattered at that point. Yeah,
- 4:35Speaker 8: and he had such happy feet. But I think it
- 4:36Speaker 8: was touchdown not long after that. But I'm saying, and it.
- 4:39Speaker 5: Was a beautiful path it was.
- 4:41Speaker 8: He had such happy feet and I'm laughing. I he's
- 4:43Speaker 8: just excited.
- 4:44Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean, I like it when you're moving your
- 4:47Speaker 9: feed like that and then but maybe you got to
- 4:49Speaker 9: set before you throw the football. But that's one thing.
- 4:51Speaker 9: Is Peyton Manning did you know so so well? It's
- 4:54Speaker 9: like hop in moving his feet, you know, and then
- 4:56Speaker 9: he plan it and go, so you know, I mean.
- 4:59Speaker 5: I think that's a that's a style.
- 5:01Speaker 9: I kid looked good, really good, except you know, he
- 5:04Speaker 9: had that one just horrific pass right to the linebacker.
- 5:08Speaker 1: I like the five running backs right now. You know,
- 5:13Speaker 1: they don't seem to lose a lot no matter who's
- 5:16Speaker 1: in the game.
- 5:18Speaker 5: I don't think E. J.
- 5:19Speaker 9: Smith is the same caliber as the other thing or not.
- 5:22Speaker 9: But I mean he's not that far off.
- 5:25Speaker 8: Blocks well, he does, and he's not good pass has
- 5:29Speaker 8: done enough.
- 5:30Speaker 2: But I'm not comparing. I'm not comparing him to his dad.
- 5:34Speaker 2: That's not fair.
- 5:35Speaker 1: But the style when you see him kind of underneath
- 5:39Speaker 1: the pile and.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Getting two or three extra yards.
- 5:43Speaker 1: His dad made a living doing that, and so I
- 5:45Speaker 1: I kind of enjoy that. I like the fact that
- 5:49Speaker 1: so far, and I mentioned this in the first hour,
- 5:53Speaker 1: Marcel Reid has not been running for his life a
- 5:56Speaker 1: lot these two games.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Now.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Again, I understand the caliber of who they're playing, but
- 6:02Speaker 1: I but we've seen that before. It wouldn't matter who
- 6:05Speaker 1: the caliber they were playing. So I do like that he's.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Been relatively unhurried in the pocket so far.
- 6:12Speaker 9: Yeah, they tell you, And I like it when he
- 6:15Speaker 9: has a design run, he really gets it going. Yeah,
- 6:17Speaker 9: I mean I think you know, he's not afraid to
- 6:19Speaker 9: plant the foot and go, and you know that's I.
- 6:23Speaker 5: Think that's a show of maturity as a quarterback.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Him growing up, he hadn't taken a lot of hard hits,
- 6:28Speaker 1: yet he seems to know so far.
- 6:31Speaker 5: I couldn't even figure when what injury. It didn't look
- 6:34Speaker 5: that bad, you could, I could.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Then they fell on him somehow awkward itself.
- 6:40Speaker 8: It could be a stir and shoulder, be a lot
- 6:42Speaker 8: of things where he was and the guy went in low.
- 6:44Speaker 8: And of course Elko's not saying he because he's hurt,
- 6:47Speaker 8: But you know it could be anywhere to me, from
- 6:49Speaker 8: the top of his shoulder almost to his knee, as
- 6:51Speaker 8: far as it could be just a bruise or whatever
- 6:53Speaker 8: or nothing. We don't know.
- 6:55Speaker 2: We don't.
- 6:56Speaker 8: But getting back to your pointship, what what was hard
- 6:59Speaker 8: to gray against Utah State reads running ability and even
- 7:05Speaker 8: the team the backs, because they went with the three
- 7:08Speaker 8: man line all the time they were in the three
- 7:10Speaker 8: they they when they blitzed a few times, I got burnt,
- 7:13Speaker 8: so they stayed back. So you're gonna have a lot
- 7:15Speaker 8: of holes against the three man front when you're as
- 7:18Speaker 8: powerful as A and m is and the running backs
- 7:21Speaker 8: watching them, I'm with you one hundred percent. They could
- 7:24Speaker 8: run as they wanted to. But I still can't wait
- 7:27Speaker 8: to see how many times they run mosque versus somebody else.
- 7:31Speaker 8: Because you only have thirty, let's say thirty rushes a game,
- 7:35Speaker 8: who's going to get those in? Oh in uh Moss
- 7:38Speaker 8: seems to get stronger the more he carries. But Ruben
- 7:41Speaker 8: Owens looks so good when he when he carries, well,
- 7:44Speaker 8: he has that explosiveness to me along with power. So
- 7:47Speaker 8: it's a nice problem for a callin Klein to have.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Yeah, and we didn't even mention mar Daniels, right.
- 7:52Speaker 8: Right, exactly, and this guy at seven eight hundred yards
- 7:55Speaker 8: last year.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Yeah, and so they've got Ormorrow the freshman, right right.
- 8:03Speaker 8: Moral, Yeah, he was electric.
- 8:06Speaker 1: I was trying to these are overall stats. I was
- 8:09Speaker 1: looking at the game stats. See you were talking about
- 8:12Speaker 1: running running the football.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Yeah, two thirty five rushing yards.
- 8:21Speaker 8: Yeah, and didn't even try hard.
- 8:23Speaker 9: They average five one two Carrie, which is I mean,
- 8:25Speaker 9: not bad gainst Utah State they had Again.
- 8:29Speaker 2: I had a couple of long runs, but how many rushes.
- 8:34Speaker 5: Forty five?
- 8:35Speaker 2: I think forty forty five?
- 8:36Speaker 5: Two thirty five?
- 8:37Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, so I mean I'm bad. Yeah, I mean
- 8:42Speaker 1: that I said I wanted to see him go for
- 8:44Speaker 1: two fifty against this team.
- 8:46Speaker 2: So that's that's not bad.
- 8:48Speaker 1: I like the fact that Marcel Reid didn't turn the
- 8:54Speaker 1: ball over.
- 8:54Speaker 2: You know, yeah with him, Yeah, you just I.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Don't like the fact they missed an extra point That
- 9:03Speaker 1: was a little disturbing.
- 9:04Speaker 2: That is bothersome they had made like one hundred and
- 9:08Speaker 2: twenty in a row or something.
- 9:09Speaker 1: You know.
- 9:09Speaker 8: What I'm saying is that you do take it for
- 9:10Speaker 8: granted because they made him right, and then here comes
- 9:13Speaker 8: a guy that quote won the job and he hits
- 9:15Speaker 8: the gold post.
- 9:16Speaker 1: That was disturbing because because he won a job. Yeah,
- 9:20Speaker 1: but but that that one point. Uh, they're starting a
- 9:24Speaker 1: series of games.
- 9:25Speaker 2: Now we're going to need that Utah State you talked
- 9:28Speaker 2: about extra points.
- 9:28Speaker 9: I give you Tah State credit for coming out and like, okay,
- 9:32Speaker 9: we just score touchdown.
- 9:33Speaker 5: No, we're not gonna tie this thing up.
- 9:34Speaker 9: We take the lead. You know, they go for two.
- 9:36Speaker 9: I mean, they got nothing to lose.
- 9:37Speaker 2: I like that mentality they heard have some fun.
- 9:40Speaker 9: Yeah, and so I think, you know, they were actually
- 9:44Speaker 9: a better team than I thought.
- 9:45Speaker 2: And I didn't think they're very good coming out.
- 9:48Speaker 8: I was impressed with Mendenhall before.
- 9:50Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I like him.
- 9:52Speaker 8: Then I listened to his press conference last week and
- 9:55Speaker 8: he was so engaging to me and so at ease.
- 10:00Speaker 8: I listened to his introductory press conference. This is a
- 10:02Speaker 8: guy that gets the most out of his players. So
- 10:04Speaker 8: you can see why he always has. He's just so
- 10:07Speaker 8: genuine and you can see he just bleeds his profession
- 10:10Speaker 8: every time he opens his mouth.
- 10:12Speaker 9: Well, and quite frankly, we don't know anything about an
- 10:15Speaker 9: m yet, and it's we're talking two weeks in the season,
- 10:19Speaker 9: and you know it's hard to get up for these
- 10:21Speaker 9: these two.
- 10:22Speaker 5: I mean it's it's easy to.
- 10:23Speaker 9: Get up for your first game, and that atmosphere on
- 10:26Speaker 9: a night game, it was really hard to get up
- 10:28Speaker 9: for an eleventh.
- 10:29Speaker 1: We do that.
- 10:30Speaker 2: We do that.
- 10:31Speaker 1: We knew what the atmosphere was going to be. I mean,
- 10:33Speaker 1: we knew that. And and I you know, I don't
- 10:37Speaker 1: have except for that first start of the second half.
- 10:42Speaker 2: You know, I don't have any problem with the effort, right.
- 10:45Speaker 1: Uh, it's it's everything just has to be multiplied Saturday
- 10:49Speaker 1: night everything.
- 10:50Speaker 5: I mean, you don't get nearly as many chances.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Correct, and and you've got to play clean and see
- 10:58Speaker 1: you ask again today, and you have to keep asking
- 11:01Speaker 1: until they do it because their road record has not
- 11:04Speaker 1: been good.
- 11:05Speaker 8: And once again, is it's those little things. It's they
- 11:09Speaker 8: only had five penalties, but like two or three of
- 11:11Speaker 8: them are real huge, real timely and hurt them. And
- 11:14Speaker 8: you very up a good point, Rusty, and you said
- 11:16Speaker 8: they didn't do anything really to say like, oh, that
- 11:19Speaker 8: wasn't that bad. But once again, is they're gonna up
- 11:23Speaker 8: things now because suddenly one motion penalty might kill a
- 11:26Speaker 8: drive and you're on the road.
- 11:28Speaker 9: Well, you can't afford to, you know, get it behind
- 11:30Speaker 9: the chains and gets a Notre Dame whereas you can
- 11:32Speaker 9: sometimes you can recover against Utsa's and the Utah States
- 11:37Speaker 9: of the world.
- 11:37Speaker 8: Let's say you have a great first half and AEM
- 11:39Speaker 8: goes in up fourteen to ten, and then you come
- 11:41Speaker 8: out and have that law at the first half in
- 11:43Speaker 8: the second half which they've had and Notre Dame goes
- 11:46Speaker 8: down scores a touchdown. You might never get the momentum
- 11:48Speaker 8: back exactly right. I never know, but you're playing an
- 11:50Speaker 8: opponent where if you sleep, that might be the game.
- 11:54Speaker 1: I'm just especially keen on the line of scrimmach Okay, yeah,
- 11:59Speaker 1: because it's a line of scrimmage league. Notre Dame's line
- 12:03Speaker 1: of scrimmage last year was really good. I watched them
- 12:06Speaker 1: against Miami. I thought both of those teams lines of
- 12:10Speaker 1: scrimmage just beat the crowd out of each other, and
- 12:13Speaker 1: I thought they were both really good. And so I'm
- 12:17Speaker 1: just I don't know yet, as you just said about
- 12:23Speaker 1: how good are the lines of scrimmage with this team.
- 12:26Speaker 9: It's so funny, I mean, because we don't know so
- 12:29Speaker 9: much about most of.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Com football right, No, absolutely, absolutely. You go from week
- 12:33Speaker 2: one to two, you're like, oh, well I really thought.
- 12:36Speaker 9: That was a great win in week one, or I
- 12:38Speaker 9: was like, man, but it looked terrible in week one.
- 12:41Speaker 9: But then they beat you know, seventeen SMU on the road.
- 12:46Speaker 9: This is where we get to find out a lot
- 12:47Speaker 9: about text A and M.
- 12:48Speaker 5: Though.
- 12:49Speaker 8: I yeah, absolutely, I think they have a good offensive, No, no,
- 12:52Speaker 8: but I am definitely concerned about their defensive line.
- 12:55Speaker 9: Well I just go so hard as to say I
- 12:58Speaker 9: think they got a really good offense, but I'm concerned
- 13:00Speaker 9: about defense. And you know, it starts up front, like
- 13:03Speaker 9: you said, ship right, I mean absolutely starts up front.
- 13:06Speaker 9: But again, outside of Cashers, how making three straight sacks
- 13:11Speaker 9: that's not gonna happen against Notre Dame.
- 13:13Speaker 5: Okay you would not.
- 13:14Speaker 8: The guy didn't even get a hand on them one
- 13:16Speaker 8: time them didn't you get a hand on them.
- 13:17Speaker 5: But outside of that, there's still some things that and
- 13:20Speaker 5: the secondary.
- 13:21Speaker 1: The other thing we look at Notre Dame is is
- 13:24Speaker 1: their their cornerbacks are elite.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Right, They're both there.
- 13:27Speaker 1: They have two NFL cornerbacks and and I'm anxious to see, uh,
- 13:32Speaker 1: these receivers who've been very good. You know, Braver and Concepcion,
- 13:36Speaker 1: they have showed that that. You know, they had the
- 13:39Speaker 1: athleticism we've been looking for for a while. And Bussy too, Bussy,
- 13:43Speaker 1: Bussy's good too. And they have and they have the
- 13:46Speaker 1: speed that they haven't had. So how are they going
- 13:48Speaker 1: to fare? How is Marcel Reid gonna fare against the back.
- 13:53Speaker 2: End of Notre Dame's defense.
- 13:55Speaker 8: Yeah, we're hopping all around. It just turned out that
- 13:57Speaker 8: way last year. And there's no doubt Will Lee impressed
- 14:01Speaker 8: me as a quarterback. But I watched three plays on Saurday.
- 14:04Speaker 8: He got beat. When that guy made that one head,
- 14:06Speaker 8: that one handed catch, Lee was on him. When when
- 14:09Speaker 8: they had the.
- 14:10Speaker 9: Penalty for that was an amazing cat. That kid from Southway, Yes,
- 14:13Speaker 9: that was a really and Lee.
- 14:16Speaker 8: Got beat one of them. And I said, here is
- 14:17Speaker 8: Utah State not afraid to throw the ball on Lee
- 14:20Speaker 8: because he was so good last year? I'm saying, why
- 14:23Speaker 8: would you throw to.
- 14:24Speaker 9: We We give we criticize officials a lot, right we do.
- 14:29Speaker 9: Let me give a total credit to that guy because
- 14:32Speaker 9: that first where I first saw it, Elaspiel like, there's
- 14:34Speaker 9: no way he made that cast said he wanted no
- 14:36Speaker 9: way why why they're.
- 14:38Speaker 5: Looking at this and that? And I was telling my
- 14:40Speaker 5: wife that.
- 14:42Speaker 2: That was the right and call.
- 14:43Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 14:43Speaker 2: I was like, oh yeah, that's yeah. He drug his
- 14:46Speaker 2: foot before that front front great call. Just like just
- 14:50Speaker 2: like I said, when he slowed.
- 14:51Speaker 8: It down, they go he guy, I didn't get.
- 14:53Speaker 5: His foot on him. Yeah, that official nailed it right. Yeah.
- 14:56Speaker 2: Man, A lot of a lot of times I could
- 14:58Speaker 2: play about it, but.
- 14:59Speaker 8: To do that a lot speed that catch, that.
- 15:02Speaker 9: Official was the only one the tire stadium. That officials
- 15:05Speaker 9: receiver were the only ones the entire state.
- 15:08Speaker 1: The other thing I said in the first hour, guys,
- 15:11Speaker 1: is there's no way I don't think that Notre Dame's
- 15:15Speaker 1: quarterback play can be as good as it was last
- 15:17Speaker 1: year the fifth Your guy, he controlled that team.
- 15:21Speaker 2: He got better as the year went on.
- 15:23Speaker 1: We know CJ. Carr's highly you know recruited guy. Uh,
- 15:28Speaker 1: he showed flashes against Miami. He's had one game, right,
- 15:33Speaker 1: He's He's had one game. So I just don't see
- 15:37Speaker 1: how they can be as efficient.
- 15:40Speaker 2: This is why ce I followed up that running.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Backs question because, as we mentioned, after that Miami game,
- 15:47Speaker 1: where's Jeremiah Love. He's your best offensive player. He touched
- 15:50Speaker 1: ball like five times. And I loved the answer that
- 15:55Speaker 1: Elko gave. He goes, oh, no, we expect a lot
- 15:58Speaker 1: of him on Saturday, and I expect a lot of
- 16:00Speaker 1: him on Saturday unless.
- 16:02Speaker 8: He's hurt and getting back. Corract what you started this
- 16:04Speaker 8: out with last year. I remember it just like it
- 16:08Speaker 8: was yesterday. The difference was that their run game. I
- 16:12Speaker 8: get their defense. But Riley Leonard made so many great decisions.
- 16:16Speaker 8: When that game was thirteen thirteen, he's on the road,
- 16:19Speaker 8: one hundred and seven thousand people ate him. Was a
- 16:22Speaker 8: chance to make a statement. Game day was here. He
- 16:25Speaker 8: made about four or five right decisions. Yeah, he didn't
- 16:28Speaker 8: make great play. Sometimes he made a four yard run.
- 16:31Speaker 8: It was a great play because it was second and
- 16:34Speaker 8: six not second and twelve. Yeah, and it's amazing, And
- 16:37Speaker 8: well can redo that on the road and Saturday night
- 16:41Speaker 8: at South Bend. That's gonna be the question.
- 16:43Speaker 9: I didn't think CJ. Carr was necessarily bad. No, against
- 16:47Speaker 9: min he got better. Man. If he started off poorly, yeah, look,
- 16:52Speaker 9: then I did think he got better. And then when
- 16:53Speaker 9: I looked at his numbers after the game, he's nineteen
- 16:55Speaker 9: to thirty for two twenty one with two tds and.
- 16:57Speaker 8: Interception interception on a fumble.
- 17:00Speaker 5: Yeah, so you had two turnovers.
- 17:01Speaker 2: But I thought early on, I was like, yeah, I'm
- 17:04Speaker 2: with you.
- 17:05Speaker 1: If you'll recall, they started that game with like six
- 17:07Speaker 1: passes in a row, right, short, short passes, you know,
- 17:12Speaker 1: and I'm thinking, well, they're trying to get him comfortable
- 17:15Speaker 1: on the road first game, let's make some easy throws.
- 17:18Speaker 1: He didn't complete a lot of those first six passes
- 17:22Speaker 1: either on the quote easy throws, but they again, they
- 17:26Speaker 1: just never went to Jeremiah Love.
- 17:28Speaker 2: It sees to your point, maybe maybe he was a
- 17:31Speaker 2: little ding dump. I don't know.
- 17:32Speaker 9: It's yeah, that old coaching thing that always says, you know,
- 17:35Speaker 9: you make your most improvement from week one to two.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I've never agreed with that, but Saban says it's true.
- 17:41Speaker 2: So that's true.
- 17:42Speaker 9: That's not the kiss right of them because I didn't
- 17:43Speaker 9: see that vast improvement. But I do think it's an
- 17:46Speaker 9: advantage from Notre Dame to have had a week off. So,
- 17:50Speaker 9: I mean, they didn't play last week and they can
- 17:53Speaker 9: really analyze things and and uh, you know, it's gonna
- 17:57Speaker 9: be a tough environment at night in South Bend.
- 18:02Speaker 5: It's a whole different environment.
- 18:04Speaker 2: And you maybe I've never been to the night game.
- 18:06Speaker 1: I was there, you know, I think, however long it's been,
- 18:08Speaker 1: when they were up there two thousand and it was.
- 18:11Speaker 2: Really really hot, really hot.
- 18:13Speaker 8: Uh.
- 18:14Speaker 1: And maybe that had to do with how the crowd
- 18:17Speaker 1: kind of responded because I was underwhelmed.
- 18:19Speaker 2: I was underwhelmed with the student section. I was underwhelmed
- 18:22Speaker 2: with the crowd.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Uh.
- 18:24Speaker 2: I was underwhelmed with the atmosphere all day. The atmosphere
- 18:27Speaker 2: is what I met.
- 18:27Speaker 8: You know, you've got a high standard.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Well, I do, but but it's Notre Dame, right, but
- 18:34Speaker 1: night game may may be different.
- 18:37Speaker 5: Lists of pres conference day.
- 18:38Speaker 9: And the guy, the first guy, I don't know who
- 18:40Speaker 9: it was, who asked a question about Rudy, but I.
- 18:44Speaker 5: Was like, what was he asking?
- 18:45Speaker 9: I was like, where in the world where are you going?
- 18:48Speaker 8: You know?
- 18:48Speaker 5: I was like, I mean, is Rudy.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Gonna be there? You know, you know Rob is a
- 18:53Speaker 2: great Rudy's going to be on the sideline.
- 18:55Speaker 8: But I thought the same thing.
- 18:58Speaker 5: He started that question.
- 18:59Speaker 2: I was like, where is.
- 19:02Speaker 8: Rudy would be at north Gate?
- 19:03Speaker 2: As they suited up?
- 19:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I remember last year, right, Yeah, you're right.
- 19:08Speaker 8: That was funny.
- 19:11Speaker 1: There's a lot there's a lot of ghosts there. But
- 19:14Speaker 1: but I don't I don't know that these these.
- 19:17Speaker 2: This generation of players have any idea. I mean they
- 19:21Speaker 2: know Notre Dame is. Don't get me wrong, I don't know.
- 19:24Speaker 1: They don't know they they don't know the Camper, They
- 19:30Speaker 1: don't know who the Four Horsemen are.
- 19:33Speaker 2: They don't know Ara Parsigan. They most of them don't
- 19:35Speaker 2: know who Rudy is.
- 19:37Speaker 8: They know what Church touchdown Jesus went to.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Yeah, they won't.
- 19:40Speaker 1: You can't see it anymore anymore since they built the
- 19:43Speaker 1: stadium up.
- 19:44Speaker 8: But I did like Elcho's answering. The fact is, and
- 19:47Speaker 8: he got me to think, is you know, I got admit,
- 19:49Speaker 8: I take it for granted that I go out to
- 19:51Speaker 8: one of the best venues every time at home, watch
- 19:53Speaker 8: a game in the band, March and the and I
- 19:57Speaker 8: take that for granted after after five decades. But we
- 20:00Speaker 8: he talked to other people, like I talked to South
- 20:01Speaker 8: Carolina Rider up at SEC goes I'm excited of going
- 20:05Speaker 8: back to Kyle Field this year. I mean, you know,
- 20:07Speaker 8: it's like when you get to go to these and
- 20:10Speaker 8: he said, like when you go to Notre Dame. You know,
- 20:13Speaker 8: the tradition and history. So I think what they said people, yeah,
- 20:18Speaker 8: I know it's Notre Dame.
- 20:20Speaker 5: Since you brought that up.
- 20:22Speaker 9: I think the atmosphere in South Carolina is a lot
- 20:24Speaker 9: better than it is in South Indiana.
- 20:26Speaker 2: No, No, I don't think there's any doubt about that.
- 20:28Speaker 9: I mean, especially if you're talking about night game. Yes,
- 20:31Speaker 9: I don't think there's any doubt question. It's far more
- 20:34Speaker 9: intimidating that South.
- 20:36Speaker 2: Carolinaly hard place. It is a really it's one of
- 20:39Speaker 2: the most underrated places.
- 20:41Speaker 1: I agree, because it's South Carolina.
- 20:45Speaker 8: And you know what you should.
- 20:47Speaker 1: I've seen this thing where their record sucks and those
- 20:51Speaker 1: fans are still showing up.
- 20:53Speaker 2: It's a lot like Texas A and M. I mean,
- 20:56Speaker 2: it should be more intimidating than it is, right.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Yeah, But because the team games hadn't been great over
- 21:01Speaker 1: the year, right, that's why it hasn't been more intimidating.
- 21:04Speaker 2: But but the atmosphere really good sphere.
- 21:08Speaker 8: It is unbelievable that it is, And of course I
- 21:10Speaker 8: have to laugh. What makes those fans different, Kyle Field.
- 21:12Speaker 8: I went there when A and M won the game
- 21:14Speaker 8: like fifty to some and they were screaming for the
- 21:16Speaker 8: former defensive coordinator to get fired. Yeah, yeah he did
- 21:20Speaker 8: the third car they wanted his hide. Uh the guy
- 21:22Speaker 8: that was at Florida. I can't think right now. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 21:25Speaker 8: good coach. I get old. I forget his name, but uh,
- 21:28Speaker 8: funny guy. But I can't think it was. But anyway,
- 21:30Speaker 8: they were one in him because they're not one hundred
- 21:33Speaker 8: percent behind the program, so to speak. They it's so
- 21:37Speaker 8: South Carolina. They want results now.
- 21:40Speaker 2: Well, is there any place in the SEC that doesn't?
- 21:42Speaker 8: Well, once again, is AM doesn't turn on the home
- 21:45Speaker 8: You're not gonna hate if A and M lose this game.
- 21:47Speaker 8: They're not going to get on Alco. They're not gonna
- 21:49Speaker 8: get on their player, not anything like that.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Maybe not in the stands.
- 21:53Speaker 8: Understand it's not right.
- 21:55Speaker 5: No, but they will though. I mean it.
- 21:57Speaker 9: Yeah, here's an opportunity for A and M. I feel
- 22:00Speaker 9: like AM is going to go into Notre Dame as
- 22:02Speaker 9: the better team and now they have to prove it
- 22:05Speaker 9: because they have not proven they can go on the
- 22:08Speaker 9: road and win a big game, especially in the non conference.
- 22:11Speaker 5: I mean, they just haven't done it enough. Go do
- 22:14Speaker 5: it now.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Let's see.
- 22:15Speaker 9: Let's see if if ANEM really wants to prove it's
- 22:17Speaker 9: a different team that it's been in recent years, then
- 22:20Speaker 9: go win this game.
- 22:21Speaker 1: Well, look, I don't think there's anybody in the locker
- 22:23Speaker 1: room that doesn't know that, right right. I don't think
- 22:26Speaker 1: there's anybody coaching staff that doesn't know that.
- 22:29Speaker 5: But the history says it's not going to happen.
- 22:32Speaker 2: History does so is it a different team or is
- 22:35Speaker 2: it not a different team? Right? Right? And and I
- 22:38Speaker 2: think you're right.
- 22:39Speaker 1: I don't think Notre Dame right now is what they
- 22:44Speaker 1: were a year ago.
- 22:45Speaker 2: They played for the national championship a year ago.
- 22:48Speaker 1: We've already talked about that quarterback that they had that
- 22:51Speaker 1: directed everything that was really good, and I don't think
- 22:56Speaker 1: they're quite as good.
- 22:58Speaker 2: But this is this is what makes this stave intriguing.
- 23:01Speaker 9: Well, it's exactly right. And we started talking off before
- 23:03Speaker 9: we went on air. We're talking about the American League West,
- 23:06Speaker 9: and I think the probably the best team American League West.
- 23:08Speaker 5: Is the Seattle Mariners.
- 23:09Speaker 9: But they're not gonna win it because I historically they're
- 23:12Speaker 9: not gonna win it. That's not that was so historically.
- 23:16Speaker 9: I don't think A and M goes into a venue
- 23:18Speaker 9: like this on the road and haven't done it, So
- 23:21Speaker 9: you got to prove it to.
- 23:22Speaker 8: Me, and I won't say that. I don't know if
- 23:25Speaker 8: I think A and M is a better team because
- 23:27Speaker 8: Notre Dame returns like eleven starters off a national runner
- 23:31Speaker 8: up team, six on defenses, and they could have beat
- 23:34Speaker 8: Miami with one play. They lost twenty seven to twenty
- 23:36Speaker 8: four on the road.
- 23:38Speaker 2: You know what. That coughed up and coughed up a lead.
- 23:41Speaker 9: I agree with that, but I feel like Miami just
- 23:43Speaker 9: stopped playing.
- 23:44Speaker 2: I mean, I feel like Miami now too.
- 23:46Speaker 8: And it's hard in one game for you to say
- 23:48Speaker 8: I'm not I don't know. I'm with you, though. A
- 23:50Speaker 8: and M needs approve it, because I don't know who
- 23:52Speaker 8: is the better team. There's not much difference between eight
- 23:54Speaker 8: rank and fifteen. That's what they are. And uh, if
- 23:58Speaker 8: A and M goes in there and wins this game,
- 24:00Speaker 8: than oh my gosh. But if Notre Dame wins this
- 24:02Speaker 8: game and then they're back, they're gonna go to the
- 24:04Speaker 8: College Football Playoff, you know.
- 24:06Speaker 2: I mean, well, the other thing is cease Notre Dame's
- 24:09Speaker 2: oen one.
- 24:10Speaker 8: You're right, this is a must win for them. They
- 24:13Speaker 8: have nobody left on the schedules ranked twenty five.
- 24:16Speaker 2: They have to win this game.
- 24:17Speaker 8: They don't win this game.
- 24:18Speaker 1: Oh and two, yeah, it's really hard, absolutely even for
- 24:22Speaker 1: Notre Dame.
- 24:23Speaker 8: Because anybody, they don't play anybody the rest of the way.
- 24:26Speaker 11: You know.
- 24:26Speaker 2: I'm just thought they had one good game.
- 24:28Speaker 8: Maybe they have Boise stayed in Southern cal but they're
- 24:30Speaker 8: not ranked, you know, and they play either arm of
- 24:33Speaker 8: your Navy. But again they're not ranked, right right, they
- 24:35Speaker 8: don't play one ranked team, Okay, in the remaining schedu Now.
- 24:38Speaker 1: So this is a really I mean, it's a very
- 24:40Speaker 1: important game for both these teams, right absolutely, and from
- 24:43Speaker 1: the history of the program for a while.
- 24:45Speaker 2: I mean it's just like you know.
- 24:46Speaker 1: I would I would still argue it's more important for
- 24:49Speaker 1: Notre Dame because it's a home game and loss.
- 24:51Speaker 8: Right and for A and M it's Anotherre Dame. Again
- 24:55Speaker 8: if ain't play, I do because last year A did well,
- 25:00Speaker 8: like well, they can go to the road and beat Missouri,
- 25:04Speaker 8: they can beat Arkansas.
- 25:05Speaker 9: But but I've seen A and M when non conference
- 25:08Speaker 9: games at home, I really had. What I haven't seen
- 25:11Speaker 9: them is going into elite venues.
- 25:13Speaker 2: I know what you're saying the road.
- 25:15Speaker 5: I mean, it's history against them, the history.
- 25:17Speaker 9: I go back all the way to, like, you know,
- 25:19Speaker 9: I remember going to Clemson with Fran and all Miami
- 25:23Speaker 9: with Frand and all these venues.
- 25:25Speaker 2: You're like, great opportunity, Notre Dame where we went. Those
- 25:29Speaker 2: weren't great teams, by the way, No.
- 25:31Speaker 9: They weren't great teams. And I just feel like, you know,
- 25:33Speaker 9: it's time to step up. I mean, I remember going
- 25:35Speaker 9: to Virginia Tech in the middle of a hurricane.
- 25:37Speaker 2: I was like, come on, you can't do it. Then
- 25:39Speaker 2: it's like.
- 25:40Speaker 9: There's just so many memories that stick out to me
- 25:43Speaker 9: as like, oh, great non conference setting.
- 25:46Speaker 5: They can't finish.
- 25:46Speaker 8: Their last victory of a ranked team in the road
- 25:50Speaker 8: was in twenty fourteen against Auburn, and Auburn had like
- 25:53Speaker 8: three key turners. They had like five hundred yards.
- 25:56Speaker 9: I had to look up when their last victory came
- 25:59Speaker 9: against a rank non conference team on the road.
- 26:01Speaker 5: That's gonna be something I'm gonna have to look up because.
- 26:03Speaker 2: I have to look a little further than I can't
- 26:05Speaker 2: remember that.
- 26:06Speaker 8: I mean, I thought it was bad enough just looking
- 26:10Speaker 8: for one that was.
- 26:11Speaker 9: Yeah, I go back to like even that the last
- 26:14Speaker 9: conference championship team, nineteen ninety eight.
- 26:16Speaker 2: They go up to New York City. They opened the
- 26:19Speaker 2: season against Flooria State.
- 26:21Speaker 5: They easily could have have won that game.
- 26:23Speaker 9: They've played Chris Winky and I'll never forget Royland. Had
- 26:28Speaker 9: the ball hit him right in the numbers, they could
- 26:30Speaker 9: have won that game. They did, and it's just like God,
- 26:33Speaker 9: they can't get over the hump. And I remember going
- 26:35Speaker 9: to the locker room after that game, thinking, well, they
- 26:37Speaker 9: played well, and I asked Dan and is this a
- 26:40Speaker 9: moral Dan Campbell? Is this a moral victory? And I
- 26:43Speaker 9: thought Dan was gonna tear my head off, and He's
- 26:46Speaker 9: just like, we don't.
- 26:46Speaker 5: Do moral victories. And so I just I'll never forget that.
- 26:49Speaker 1: Always remember, Hey, you would trade a loss at Notre
- 26:54Speaker 1: Dame for how the ninety eight season?
- 26:56Speaker 12: Yes?
- 26:56Speaker 5: I would, Yes, I would.
- 26:59Speaker 2: We're gonna take a break.

- 31:38Speaker 8: Muschamp was the guy I couldn't think of. Yes, Okay,
- 31:41Speaker 8: A and M's last win on the.
- 31:44Speaker 2: Road, well, that would be non conference.
- 31:46Speaker 8: Okay, you're right, South Carolina. They beat South Carolina, you know,
- 31:49Speaker 8: in twenty fourteen, right before the Auburn game.
- 31:52Speaker 2: It has to I'm talking about non conference.
- 31:54Speaker 9: I know your I just thought I'm gone through the
- 31:56Speaker 9: years and it has to be prior to nineteen ninety eight.
- 31:59Speaker 5: Oh, I mean it's been a long time.
- 32:05Speaker 8: Yes, interesting, Yes, it is, Okay, anybody.
- 32:10Speaker 2: Well, well, but played a lot of teams.
- 32:13Speaker 9: I mean, they played at Virginia Tech with ranked they
- 32:16Speaker 9: played that at Clemson at Miami.
- 32:18Speaker 2: I mean they they've had some road trips where you know,
- 32:21Speaker 2: Utah was at Notre Dame twenty four years ago. Yeah, right, so,
- 32:25Speaker 2: I mean.
- 32:28Speaker 9: Yeah, but I mean it's it's been a long time
- 32:31Speaker 9: since they've gone on the road. I mean, it's just
- 32:34Speaker 9: it's again, that's why you're gonna have to prove it
- 32:36Speaker 9: to me, and this is an opportunity to go on
- 32:38Speaker 9: the road and and win a game, which you you can.
- 32:44Speaker 5: I mean, they haven't done it.
- 32:46Speaker 9: They didn't do it ninety five when they went on
- 32:48Speaker 9: the road and played Colorado. And so they did go
- 32:51Speaker 9: back in nicey seven and beat Colorado when they were ranked,
- 32:54Speaker 9: but that was as members of the Big twelve.
- 32:56Speaker 5: So it's got to be even before nineteen ninety five.
- 32:59Speaker 5: I would think it might be that, you know, it
- 33:02Speaker 5: might be a neutral site game when they played against Stanford,
- 33:04Speaker 5: but that's.
- 33:05Speaker 2: Not what was a long time ago. We're talking about
- 33:09Speaker 2: talking about a long time ago. Bill was ahead.
- 33:13Speaker 5: This is the opportunity to have here.
- 33:15Speaker 2: What do you got L s U on the road
- 33:19Speaker 2: ninety four that beat L s U.
- 33:21Speaker 5: Thank you very much.
- 33:22Speaker 8: Yeah, L close. I was at ninety five. I was
- 33:25Speaker 8: back to ninety five.
- 33:26Speaker 2: No, they weren't right, they weren't ranked.
- 33:28Speaker 1: We're talking about a rank right, and it may be
- 33:31Speaker 1: an L s U team at some point actually, because
- 33:34Speaker 1: they did go I never L s U canceled the
- 33:37Speaker 1: series because they had have been one of those in
- 33:39Speaker 1: a row that.
- 33:41Speaker 8: I'm back at ninety two that Stanford was at a
- 33:43Speaker 8: neutral site.
- 33:44Speaker 2: Yes, it was.
- 33:45Speaker 5: It was ranked, right, that was neutral.
- 33:47Speaker 8: That was that. It doesn't say it was.
- 33:49Speaker 2: An it was a angel. It was ten to seven.
- 33:53Speaker 2: I can't believe I was at that game.
- 33:57Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 33:57Speaker 9: Anyway, it's been a long time, so it's time to
- 34:00Speaker 9: change that.
- 34:01Speaker 2: Time to change time, to change history history.
- 34:03Speaker 9: This is not one of those notes that the A
- 34:05Speaker 9: and M Sports Information is going to put in.
- 34:07Speaker 8: You don't think so.
- 34:08Speaker 2: No, brat Brattle text me, okay, yeah, he's history, and.
- 34:12Speaker 1: He'll text like the last time Adam beat a ranked opponent,
- 34:19Speaker 1: non con.
- 34:20Speaker 2: Non conference, I'm on the road, I'm back to eighty six.
- 34:22Speaker 9: Wow, that Housers, that's that's going back.
- 34:28Speaker 8: They weren't playing anybody ranked. Some of those true, that
- 34:31Speaker 8: part's true. One or two ranked teams the whole year.
- 34:34Speaker 2: That parts true.
- 34:34Speaker 9: But jack you would always lose one of those games,
- 34:36Speaker 9: you know. I remember they played Nebraska and the Kickoff
- 34:38Speaker 9: Classic and they lost that game just like that.
- 34:40Speaker 5: You know, the floor staate, Jackie.
- 34:42Speaker 2: Was terrible in the first couple of weeks of the season.
- 34:44Speaker 2: Because you found it.
- 34:47Speaker 1: Against State right there, Penn State seventy nine, number six.
- 34:51Speaker 1: I was out there, Wow, Penn State nineteen seventy nine.
- 34:57Speaker 1: Sticky to my point, it's time I was there.
- 35:04Speaker 5: Thank you for where all cees there.
- 35:07Speaker 8: Were six and five that you under, mister Tom Wilson.
- 35:09Speaker 2: Okay, now anyway, gut him fire.
- 35:12Speaker 1: I was making the point that Jackie was terrible the
- 35:14Speaker 1: first two weeks in most seasons because he had worn
- 35:17Speaker 1: his team out practicing two and three times a day
- 35:19Speaker 1: in the heat.
- 35:22Speaker 2: I think towards the end he changed a little bit,
- 35:25Speaker 2: but they had no legs. They had no legs.
- 35:27Speaker 8: Some guy did that at Junction. Wasn't too bad for him?
- 35:29Speaker 5: Well, he was bad for him.
- 35:32Speaker 2: He almost killed He almost killed some people.
- 35:35Speaker 8: So how bad do you want to win?
- 35:39Speaker 2: You know? I've read that.
- 35:40Speaker 1: I just got through with that Frank Lahey book a
- 35:43Speaker 1: few weeks ago that Ivan Mazell wrote, and I will
- 35:46Speaker 1: replay that here in the next week because the book
- 35:49Speaker 1: comes out. I think next week i'll replay the interview.
- 35:51Speaker 1: But but lay was was pre Junction guy.
- 35:55Speaker 2: He did the same thing. He he just brutalized his players.
- 36:01Speaker 9: Part of the reason that Bear Bryant did that is
- 36:03Speaker 9: there a lot of contracts he wanted to eliminate because
- 36:07Speaker 9: they were getting paid back then, and he really wanted
- 36:10Speaker 9: to run away, run a lot of these guys off.
- 36:12Speaker 5: So he he could open up some new n I L.
- 36:14Speaker 2: Deals.
- 36:16Speaker 8: And once again it was how bad do you want to?
- 36:18Speaker 2: Spoken? Like his story?
- 36:19Speaker 8: And see that uh video going around to the old
- 36:22Speaker 8: woman to ask her she won the lottery, what she
- 36:25Speaker 8: would do? What she would do? She would fire bore
- 36:28Speaker 8: and along with him, and then she gives some money
- 36:33Speaker 8: to her church. So you know that's Alabama.
- 36:37Speaker 5: Many is priority.
- 36:40Speaker 2: They've shut up one week one week.
- 36:44Speaker 8: You look it up and it is priceless because she's
- 36:46Speaker 8: seriously she can, of.
- 36:47Speaker 2: Course she is. She goes don a D two fan
- 36:50Speaker 2: is short for her fanatic.
- 36:52Speaker 8: Yeah, you played that tape. I'll tell you what I
- 36:55Speaker 8: can't see, napiers.
- 36:56Speaker 9: You know what I was thinking about fans short for
- 36:59Speaker 9: fanatic when I was watching on Saturday morning the viral
- 37:02Speaker 9: video of the Philly Philadelphia Karen stealing the ball kid.
- 37:08Speaker 5: You know it turned out good for the kid. I
- 37:09Speaker 5: mean the kid's gotten, you know, yeah.
- 37:11Speaker 2: He gotta get he got it.
- 37:13Speaker 9: He got all kinds of stuff for both of the Marlins,
- 37:16Speaker 9: and they stepped up. But I mean, I'm just this woman,
- 37:19Speaker 9: how do you how dumb is that and then I mean,
- 37:23Speaker 9: you go to a ball game and then the next
- 37:25Speaker 9: day you're hated universally across the country. It's just like
- 37:29Speaker 9: social media can be very, very dangerous. Don't do stupid stuff.
- 37:32Speaker 2: Everyone has a camera.
- 37:34Speaker 8: I gotta see I missed that.
- 37:36Speaker 2: Everyone has a camera. All right, you're the only one, somebody.

- 39:02Speaker 15: won Game three yesterday four to two. They got the
- 39:05Speaker 15: scoring going in the second on a weird play.
- 39:08Speaker 1: The one two val does check second pitch to Jonah swinging.
- 39:13Speaker 2: A ball that gets by the catcher.
- 39:16Speaker 1: Dzi slips Hi, I'm running to first in the throw,
- 39:18Speaker 1: hits him.
- 39:19Speaker 9: War races around thirty, comes home in scores.
- 39:25Speaker 2: How about that for a whacky way to get on

- 41:13Speaker 1: He's got another book out, so he's been on with
- 41:16Speaker 1: me a number of times. Uh, looking forward to visiting
- 41:18Speaker 1: with him.
- 41:19Speaker 2: Uh. The book is on evil.
- 41:22Speaker 1: Uh. Evil in the world, Vladimir Putin on thel not
- 41:26Speaker 1: evil caneval. This is the Hitler's of the world. So
- 41:31Speaker 1: it's very very interesting.
- 41:34Speaker 2: Uh.
- 41:35Speaker 1: Our show is brought to you by Intech at First
- 41:37Speaker 1: Financial Bank. Robert Sesstin, rusty person. Uh, let's let's go
- 41:40Speaker 1: around them.
- 41:41Speaker 9: Before we go there, I want to tell you my
- 41:43Speaker 9: very favorite moment from the game last Saturday. Okay, so
- 41:49Speaker 9: we talked all about n I L and stuff, and
- 41:52Speaker 9: we talked about all these guys changing schools and and
- 41:55Speaker 9: all the money. So I watched a young man who
- 41:59Speaker 9: I have watched grow up, Yes, twelve man kickoff when
- 42:04Speaker 9: I got to see Wesley Watson make the tackle. I
- 42:08Speaker 9: have watched that kid grow up. I knew his mom
- 42:10Speaker 9: when she was a college student. I've known his dad forever.
- 42:14Speaker 9: I've known his grandfather forever. Mark Dinner and so that
- 42:19Speaker 9: to me was like, good for you. I was so
- 42:22Speaker 9: excited about that. Didn't he say his first tackle effort
- 42:26Speaker 9: because he's.
- 42:26Speaker 5: A water seat.
- 42:27Speaker 9: Yeah, but I just I texted his Matt and I
- 42:30Speaker 9: was like, man, that is the greatest thing. And he
- 42:32Speaker 9: texted like a an emoji of a tear drop coming out.
- 42:35Speaker 9: He's like, man, yeah, I really those are the kind
- 42:40Speaker 9: of moments that I felt that same way because I've
- 42:43Speaker 9: watched like Jay Grahamson Jacob Graham do the same thing,
- 42:46Speaker 9: and it's like, it is so fun when you see
- 42:49Speaker 9: one of these kids when you saw as a little
- 42:51Speaker 9: bitty boy wearing this A and M stuff and dreaming
- 42:54Speaker 9: of playing and.
- 42:54Speaker 2: They're out there sweating just like they're not getting paid,
- 42:58Speaker 2: I mean, and they're paying most most case.
- 43:01Speaker 9: And so when you see that like that is still
- 43:04Speaker 9: one of the beauties of college football.
- 43:06Speaker 2: Hey, and there aren't many left. No, they're not. You know,
- 43:09Speaker 2: they've they've screwed up the walk on.
- 43:13Speaker 5: But when Wesley made that tackle, was that was pretty bad.
- 43:15Speaker 5: It's so cool.
- 43:18Speaker 1: What struck you guys? The rest of the league. You
- 43:22Speaker 1: want to start with Oklahoma, Michigan.
- 43:25Speaker 8: I'm going to start with Mississippi State, winning that game,
- 43:28Speaker 8: because that was amazing. I watched the end of the game,
- 43:30Speaker 8: and I don't know if you guys saw it.
- 43:32Speaker 2: Did you see where.
- 43:35Speaker 8: Arizona State is seven guys in the line of scrimmage.
- 43:38Speaker 8: You know I counted them. Now, they only rushed four
- 43:40Speaker 8: and they dropped two. But the problem is they didn't
- 43:44Speaker 8: guard the inside receiver. Okay, you there's thirty seconds left
- 43:47Speaker 8: in the game. You talk about I always hate it
- 43:50Speaker 8: when the coaches used the no prevent defense, But you
- 43:53Speaker 8: gotta have a safety back. That was the easiest fifty
- 43:55Speaker 8: eight yard touchdown pass. And I go that Arizona State coach,
- 43:58Speaker 8: he took his team to the college football playoffs. You
- 44:01Speaker 8: can't have that defense. It just gave they they went,
- 44:05Speaker 8: They took the ball ten minutes to go.
- 44:06Speaker 1: This is things I love about college for me too,
- 44:11Speaker 1: because you see, you see.
- 44:13Speaker 2: Lots of it.
- 44:14Speaker 8: They should have won that game.
- 44:15Speaker 2: I should have.
- 44:17Speaker 8: They drove with ten minutes, they had the ball right,
- 44:20Speaker 8: couldn't get it in the end zone. That's correct because
- 44:21Speaker 8: they got too conservative. They knew if field goal was
- 44:24Speaker 8: gonna win it, and then they don't have a safety back.
- 44:27Speaker 8: I know in Mississippi State, rushes the field.
- 44:30Speaker 9: Well, there's a couple of things that stuck out to me,
- 44:32Speaker 9: and one I thought it was a great bounce back
- 44:35Speaker 9: for arch Manning. I mean, he didn't start off that
- 44:37Speaker 9: game great, but he hit the long pass, and you know,
- 44:41Speaker 9: I think he's gonna be really good, you know. I
- 44:43Speaker 9: mean we talked about last week, there's so much pressure
- 44:46Speaker 9: on it. Not he said all the right things, right,
- 44:49Speaker 9: it wasn't him. I almost felt sorry for him after
- 44:52Speaker 9: that first one because he said all the right things,
- 44:55Speaker 9: he did all the right things.
- 44:56Speaker 5: But he's still this.
- 44:57Speaker 9: Young kid dealing with his immense amount of pressure. He
- 45:00Speaker 9: never asked to be a Heisman favorite, right, And so
- 45:03Speaker 9: I thought, okay, now that's who I really thought he was.
- 45:07Speaker 9: And I was bouncing back, you know. And also then
- 45:10Speaker 9: I was bouncing back around that Baylor SMU game and
- 45:13Speaker 9: I thought that the game at the day it was
- 45:15Speaker 9: and s m you pulled up and.
- 45:16Speaker 2: Went out by four, and I thought, okay, well they'll
- 45:20Speaker 2: put up a pretty good fight here.
- 45:22Speaker 9: But I tell you what, man, Baylor's got some They
- 45:25Speaker 9: have subdues, yes they do.
- 45:27Speaker 2: Shawyer Robert can play.
- 45:29Speaker 9: He can play, and that wide receiver thirty four, he
- 45:32Speaker 9: can play.
- 45:33Speaker 1: And I'm telling you what ce the cat out of
- 45:36Speaker 1: frank that nobody wanted, Yeah, Washington wanted them.
- 45:40Speaker 2: He can play, he's a player.
- 45:43Speaker 8: You know what, what kind of DNA you have, Franklin?
- 45:45Speaker 5: But he goes to the points like you know, I
- 45:48Speaker 5: watched was that Auburn game?
- 45:49Speaker 2: Was that a big win for them? Or was that
- 45:51Speaker 2: just now it's a better win for Auburn.
- 45:54Speaker 8: Right, that's why Auburn, I think, got into rankings. Look
- 45:56Speaker 8: to go, Okay, they beat a team on their places,
- 45:59Speaker 8: win SMU at their place, and I.
- 46:02Speaker 9: Didn't get to watch a lot of it because it
- 46:03Speaker 9: was delayed. But I mean Clemson was down sixteen nothing
- 46:06Speaker 9: to Troy. Yes they were, And I was like, okay,
- 46:09Speaker 9: well the first week I was like, kudos the LSU
- 46:11Speaker 9: because they know that's a huge win.
- 46:14Speaker 5: How good is Clemson?
- 46:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know. I don't know. I don't know.
- 46:18Speaker 9: I don't think maybe after two weeks do we know
- 46:20Speaker 9: anything about Clemson yet? I don't know.
- 46:22Speaker 2: Do we know anything about Oklahoma against Michigan. Oklahoma's better,
- 46:26Speaker 2: I think there's no doubt about that. I don't think
- 46:28Speaker 2: Michigan's very good.
- 46:29Speaker 1: Dusty I don't either offensively they're not. But I talked
- 46:34Speaker 1: to Dusty about this and and Mattier looked, look good.
- 46:37Speaker 2: But they can't run the football. First of all, they
- 46:41Speaker 2: can't run the.
- 46:41Speaker 1: Football, okay, And if he's their guy running the football
- 46:45Speaker 1: with their schedule and every right now on their schedule,
- 46:49Speaker 1: every team they play here on is ranked every.
- 46:52Speaker 8: Team Oklahoma seven team, I think, yeah, but if.
- 46:55Speaker 1: He runs the football like he's running against Michigan, I
- 46:58Speaker 1: don't think he's going to survive.
- 47:00Speaker 2: See who the backup is, Yeah, I mean, I just
- 47:02Speaker 2: don't think you can survive doing that. I think I
- 47:05Speaker 2: could be wrong.
- 47:06Speaker 8: I think we see, like Marcel Reid, he was hit
- 47:10Speaker 8: going down at an unusual spot. When a quarterback carries
- 47:13Speaker 8: the ball so much, and I say, if you're a
- 47:15Speaker 8: quarterback and you carrate the ball ten times a game,
- 47:17Speaker 8: which you really have to, if you're a dual threat,
- 47:19Speaker 8: you're susceptible to a lot of bumps and bruises. Forget
- 47:23Speaker 8: about tough injuries.
- 47:24Speaker 2: YEA.
- 47:24Speaker 8: Yeah, when you're back there throwing the ball and these
- 47:26Speaker 8: guys going four or five in the defensive end coming
- 47:29Speaker 8: at you at two forty and hitting you, Yeah, those
- 47:31Speaker 8: things add up.
- 47:33Speaker 1: I thought Kansas Missouri was going to be a good game,
- 47:36Speaker 1: and it was. I love the Kansas quarterback. I like
- 47:42Speaker 1: the fact that Missouri came back. I love the passion
- 47:46Speaker 1: in that game. They just hate each other and it's
- 47:50Speaker 1: just a shame what college football has done to these rivalries. Right,
- 47:55Speaker 1: we had to wait thirteen years. It had been fourteen
- 47:58Speaker 1: years since Kansas Missouri played, and that just should not.
- 48:03Speaker 2: Be in either sports. They finally started playing in basketball.
- 48:06Speaker 1: They figured out maybe they could play each other in basketball.
- 48:09Speaker 9: It's the same thing with that Baylor SMU game. You
- 48:11Speaker 9: know Baylor had won thirteenth straight, but you have to
- 48:14Speaker 9: go way back, yeah to that many years.
- 48:17Speaker 2: That'll be playing every year. Right now, s MU and
- 48:20Speaker 2: tc you are playing in two weeks.
- 48:23Speaker 5: And they've continued to play.
- 48:25Speaker 2: But this the last time?
- 48:26Speaker 1: Is that?
- 48:26Speaker 5: Right?
- 48:27Speaker 2: Yeah? TCU said now we don't play more, and there's
- 48:31Speaker 2: no you can't stupid do that reason.
- 48:35Speaker 1: That's what college football to me is still rivalries right.
- 48:41Speaker 2: Luckily ugly, but.
- 48:44Speaker 1: I state, I mean, they are who they are, and
- 48:47Speaker 1: you know what, I love the coach, Matt Campbell. He's
- 48:50Speaker 1: not gonna get five star guys, but I'm telling you
- 48:55Speaker 1: they are grind out of They grind. They play with
- 48:57Speaker 1: an edge. They've done it ever since he's been there.
- 49:01Speaker 1: I give them a lot of credit. I mean they're
- 49:03Speaker 1: not a great team by any stretch, but they just grind.
- 49:07Speaker 1: I guarantee you do not want to go to ames
- 49:10Speaker 1: iowaever and play at Iowa State. I don't care how
- 49:14Speaker 1: many athletes you think they don't have.
- 49:18Speaker 2: That you just don't want to play there.
- 49:19Speaker 9: I'll tell you where you do want to go to
- 49:21Speaker 9: play whenever you get a chance.
- 49:23Speaker 2: So I want to go steal water? Yeah, Oh my gosh, Gundhi.
- 49:28Speaker 9: No, you don't think in the year you can't lose
- 49:32Speaker 9: sixty nine to three anymore?
- 49:34Speaker 5: No, I mean, I mean if Mulletman's in trouble, yeah.
- 49:37Speaker 8: I mean, and they're terrible.
- 49:39Speaker 2: Do you know they've lost ten straight to Division one teams.
- 49:43Speaker 8: They're in trouble, bad trouble. Getting back to Man, he's
- 49:47Speaker 8: offul getting back to rivalies. At one time, rivalries he
- 49:51Speaker 8: talked say about the top three things to college football,
- 49:53Speaker 8: Rivalies is number one.
- 49:54Speaker 2: Yes, now, he said, Nebraska. I know Oklahoma should play You.
- 49:58Speaker 8: Say the top five the first four reasons or money
- 50:01Speaker 8: and then rivalries. I mean, it's just all about money. Unfortunately,
- 50:04Speaker 8: even the SEC is working in rivalries because it means money.
- 50:08Speaker 8: I mean, once again, is it's all about unfortunately, and
- 50:11Speaker 8: I get it, it's all about money.
- 50:12Speaker 9: Well, if Texas would not have joined the SEC, am
- 50:15Speaker 9: in Texas would not be playing another one. I mean
- 50:17Speaker 9: just it's because the egos.
- 50:19Speaker 1: So it's helped in in a couple of senses, but
- 50:23Speaker 1: it's hurt most every other rivalry.
- 50:26Speaker 5: We sat here right.
- 50:27Speaker 9: After the the A and M left for the SEC,
- 50:31Speaker 9: and where's like, go play this game in twelve Yeah,
- 50:34Speaker 9: left four of the SECA.
- 50:36Speaker 5: I said, let's go play at Texas Motor Speedway.
- 50:38Speaker 2: Whatever they play that game. Couldn't figure it out.
- 50:42Speaker 5: It's it's ridiculous.
- 50:43Speaker 2: Yeah, it is ridiculous.
- 50:44Speaker 1: Uh. Speaking of coaches that are on the downward spiral,
- 50:49Speaker 1: Mark Stoops at Kentucky, Wow, I saw his record the
- 50:54Speaker 1: last three years. You know it's below five hundred. It's
- 50:56Speaker 1: not great. Now, I will say this, Mark Stoops is
- 51:00Speaker 1: not going to change who he is. They beat the
- 51:02Speaker 1: crap out of Old Miss the other day. I mean
- 51:05Speaker 1: physically they lost the game because they don't have enough
- 51:08Speaker 1: good players.
- 51:08Speaker 2: They don't have enough talent, but he's still he's still
- 51:12Speaker 2: gonna beat on you.
- 51:14Speaker 1: Right, he may lose and and don't miss. You know,
- 51:18Speaker 1: they had to fight to win that game. It was
- 51:21Speaker 1: clear who had better players, but they had to fight.
- 51:25Speaker 1: But but Stoops is definitely in a downward spiral there.
- 51:28Speaker 8: Yeah, and you're looking about who's going to be at Kentucky,
- 51:30Speaker 8: who's gonna be a he's gonna be at Florida, who's
- 51:33Speaker 8: gonna be in to Oklahoma State? They had a horror
- 51:35Speaker 8: coach in a long time they have not definitely looks
- 51:38Speaker 8: like you can't get beat as bad as they did.
- 51:40Speaker 8: It's it's like someone losing to the year.
- 51:42Speaker 1: And this is a league that's up for graps, right,
- 51:45Speaker 1: I mean the big twelves up for graps.
- 51:47Speaker 8: You can do in there. If you're a good coach,
- 51:49Speaker 8: you can you can compete for the title second year.
- 51:51Speaker 1: I think you're right, you know, just hitch transfer if
- 51:54Speaker 1: they have you know, I don't know what kind of
- 51:55Speaker 1: resources they have. Gundy was complaining before the Oregon game, right,
- 52:00Speaker 1: didn't have enough, Yes, but but he knew what was coming.
- 52:03Speaker 1: He knew what was coming, and I had a laughing
- 52:05Speaker 1: I don't think he.
- 52:06Speaker 2: Knew they were going to put sixty nine on him.
- 52:07Speaker 2: I don't know, maybe he did.
- 52:08Speaker 8: I don't care who you are. I went back and
- 52:10Speaker 8: listened to Mendonoll's introductric. Yeah, confer, it's one of the
- 52:14Speaker 8: first questions was what kind of nil money they're giving you.
- 52:17Speaker 8: You're in the you're in the Mountain West. I don't
- 52:19Speaker 8: care what conferences, what budget do you have? What is
- 52:22Speaker 8: your cap? What is your cap?
- 52:24Speaker 5: Yeah? Crazy, I know what is your cap?
- 52:26Speaker 8: Today? Elko used to work cap. I mean it's like
- 52:28Speaker 8: it's it's out there.
- 52:29Speaker 2: It's just what he did, you know?
- 52:31Speaker 1: And I thought after that first game, Virginia Tech was
- 52:34Speaker 1: pretty good. We talked about that ye and then Vanderbilt
- 52:37Speaker 1: lit them up.
- 52:39Speaker 8: They got a quarterback.
- 52:40Speaker 2: Though they do have a quarterback. He's like, you know what,
- 52:43Speaker 2: they have a tight end too, really good. He's really
- 52:47Speaker 2: good too.
- 52:48Speaker 3: Uh.
- 52:50Speaker 1: When you have players, when you have players, and especially
- 52:53Speaker 1: when you have a QB, it is amazing what happens.
- 52:57Speaker 2: How about Georgia Tennessee this week?
- 53:01Speaker 5: That's a good one.
- 53:01Speaker 8: That's a good one.
- 53:02Speaker 2: Tennessee is better than I thought.
- 53:05Speaker 1: I didn't give Joshiel and I said, wait till this
- 53:09Speaker 1: week you're right. I said before the season, it's a
- 53:12Speaker 1: mystery team to me. Right, new quarterback. He made the
- 53:15Speaker 1: right choice. They obviously made the right choice letting Nico go. Uh,
- 53:20Speaker 1: this guy's been pretty good the whole team. But again,
- 53:23Speaker 1: what you're right, We'll see what Georgia comes calling.
- 53:26Speaker 8: Getting back to Gundy. As good at quarterback as he was.
- 53:30Speaker 8: I expected maybe to lose sixty nine. Yes, well you
- 53:34Speaker 8: lose that bad and you're a quarterback that threw the ball.
- 53:37Speaker 2: Yeah, how can he do that? They don't have any players.
- 53:39Speaker 2: I mean, it's just that one week to the next.
- 53:42Speaker 5: It's like the LSU really struggled against losing Antac.
- 53:46Speaker 2: You know, it was like they're just I mean I
- 53:48Speaker 2: kept watching that score. I go, really, yeah, it's like
- 53:51Speaker 2: the same thing.
- 53:51Speaker 9: I was watching Clemson and Troy was delayed for a
- 53:54Speaker 9: long time, and I was like, yeah.
- 53:55Speaker 1: That'll that'll look these these games after you've played a
- 53:59Speaker 1: big game game. And but but same with A and M.
- 54:02Speaker 1: Like the you know, the Saturday game we talked about
- 54:04Speaker 1: Utah State. The early kickoff, there was no buzz. You
- 54:08Speaker 1: just want to win those You don't want to get
- 54:10Speaker 1: people hurt. You want to win the games. You want
- 54:13Speaker 1: to advance and get ready because because Florida's coming into
- 54:17Speaker 1: L s U this week, right, And and I heard
- 54:21Speaker 1: Kelly today and I don't think it was coach be
- 54:23Speaker 1: because I agree with him. He said this game is
- 54:25Speaker 1: going into the fourth quarter. I can promise you that.
- 54:27Speaker 1: And I believe that. I think Florida will take L
- 54:31Speaker 1: s U into the fourth quarter this week.
- 54:32Speaker 8: And I watched U C l A lose to U
- 54:35Speaker 8: N LB, and you know that.
- 54:41Speaker 2: And I'm kicking myself for not picking Texas State.
- 54:44Speaker 5: I just pick.
- 54:47Speaker 9: Shoot all right, hey, one of the game that South
- 54:51Speaker 9: Carolina band, I know, Yeah, South Carolina's Vanderbilt that it
- 54:55Speaker 9: can be.
- 54:56Speaker 8: South Carolina was close to whoever they played State. It's
- 54:59Speaker 8: not last DA.
- 55:00Speaker 2: Really yeah, no, gentlemen, We'll see you next week. Thank you. Writers.
