Transcript
- 0:02[SPEAKER_00]: is the Steve Downs, the voice of Master Chief, Spartan 1-1-7, with an incoming message for Ryan Green and all, we'll listen to the podcast It Just Works, let's finish the fight.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: Listen up, Chief, out.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_01]: hello everyone and welcome to the address was podcast i'm your host Ryan and oh my god is it nice to record episode i think Brian just coming on is the only time i'm going to record episodes but yes uh back again to talk about all things nintendo pokemon our predictions for the pokemon presents and maybe the next nintendo direct uh Brian from another vinyl pages back uh Brian thank you so much for being on man how you doing i'm good man i'm glad to be back and nerd out with you and talk about stuff we need to catch up on
- 0:55[SPEAKER_01]: I agree because you know what going from talking to you every day to what once a week if that is kind of a trip.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_01]: But last time you were on we spent a lot of time talking about like the switch to and how we felt so far in Legends EA.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_01]: But the main thing we ended off on was Legends EA and we kind of wanted to follow up with the fans and
- 1:17[SPEAKER_01]: You know, the listeners and kind of just go, okay, so here's what the game's really at, and as I just said before we hit record, I've doubled my play time in the time that we spoke last, so I'm at 65 hours on the game, which isn't a lot, honestly, for me with a Pokemon game, it's actually pretty low.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_01]: But I have finished the quote-unquote main story quest for Mega Dimensions.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_01]: I finished every single side quest from the base game and all base game content.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_01]: So that's what I've completed.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: Where do you remember being at with Legendsia?
- 1:54[SPEAKER_02]: I'm a little bit into the DLC.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_02]: I beat the main game.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_02]: I caught the box art legendaries for X and Y. OK, cool.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_02]: And then I only did a little bit of the DLC.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_02]: Wasn't there something else in the main game after you kept the two legendary?
- 2:09[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I got it.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_01]: I got it already important.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_02]: I thought, yeah, I fought Zygad, like one through twice and I lost and I was like fuck this.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_02]: And I put it down for a little while.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_02]: I tend to do that with games.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_02]: I get really sucked in for like a month, month and a half.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_02]: And then I'll put it down and then I'll go back.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm gonna go back to because I was having a lot of fun with it.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_02]: I picked it back up and yeah, I was really enjoying it.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, I think I was a little harsh to and it's not that the game isn't without its critiques, which we've, we're definitely always going to stay with Pokemon in the current timeline of our lives.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_01]: And I hope one day that changes where we don't have to be so critical, but for the time being that's not the case, however I can say that after playing this game over the Christmas break, I didn't have a break from work or anything, but I dropped so many hours in this game.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_01]: When I was honestly watching our niece and nephew when Eric was on a cruise so it was pretty cool.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_01]: Put a ton of time into this game and honestly man, like it's kind of a good game.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: It's just, it's not great and it's far from perfect, but the core experience and like what they were trying to do with Lumios and the battling mega-avolutions making a f***ing fantastic return in my opinion.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_01]: I think there's a lot to love about this game and I don't remember if I beat all the side quests at our previous recording, pretty sure I didn't, but no doubt about it from our previous conversation, like voice acting is the reason why this game isn't like an 8.5 out of 10 for a lot of people.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, textures and graphics are always going to be a point of contention, especially in this day and age when you have other games that can run on the switch,
- 3:57[SPEAKER_01]: If you haven't seen that, look it up, it looks fucking stunning, and for whatever reason Pokemon looks like asked in comparison.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_01]: But
- 4:07[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot to love about it, whether it's the Pokemon's nature, the questing, like, just to side quests that, you know, create this story and atmosphere that replicates the shows, the cards, you know, with artwork, and you see the way the Pokemon live their lives, there's a couple, it's not a couple, there's a good handful of side quests that literally bring Pokemon in the life.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_01]: I know I mentioned Travis in the last podcast about how adorable that was.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_01]: But whether it's your racing frokey on a parkour set in the knee joins your team like that reminds me of like saving charm and your or the squirtle squad like there's just things that they've done But it's not like nostalgia.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's more of like, hey, this is cool because I remember seeing this as a kid and like now you're implementing it into the games probably more than ever
- 4:57[SPEAKER_01]: you know the mega dimensions TLCs it's pretty cool I've got to be honest I think like the whole donut thing is really cool but like the time limit and how long it takes the farm berries just to get for instance a shiny donut and this is in randomized it's not like guaranteed in a good rate it could be like a level one sparkly after a ton of berries so I'm kind of iffy on that but for the most part like the again the experience is great and
- 5:24[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I would say if you have a switch to and you still love the Pokemon franchise, but are, you know, kind of wary of the games.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_01]: I think this game is worth picking up.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_01]: If you don't have a backlog, um, Brian, where do you, where do you sit after kind of like revisiting it and kind of giving it some time, uh, where do you land today?
- 5:42[SPEAKER_02]: It's growing a lot more on me.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_02]: I think the gameplay side of things are really fun.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_02]: And if you just,
- 5:49[SPEAKER_02]: kind of ignore the visuals because honestly I think that's my only nitpick the visuals and the voice acting voice acting I can like I mean I'm over it I want voice acting but it's I'm used to it because they haven't had it in the past so it's more so the visuals but just the gameplay is fun I could just I could just fart around and go to what are they're not called wild areas whether the wild zones I can just go in there and have fun like I was just messing around grinding and
- 6:15[SPEAKER_02]: Zoned 20 and I found my shiny total dial and I like lost my shit.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, you did.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it was so freaking happy.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, is that thing shiny being it's barcode and I'm like, oh, fuck, and I ran over there and luckily it stayed in the first ball I don't know if they made shinies more likely to stay and it doesn't matter, but it's things like that.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_02]: The gameplay is just a lot of fun and I
- 6:39[SPEAKER_02]: I'm loving it and when you play with your Pokemon, that feels very, I feel like each Pokemon game that comes out, the Pokemon have like more personality because I would send out my shiny total and like start taking pictures of it and I've never really done that in other Pokemon game, the pictures and stuff but you can like make it sleepy, angry and all that stuff so that was kind of cool, that was fun.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think, you know, the shining always being back is such a, I mean, it's a borderline staple at this point, like it should be in all the games, because that's sound effect and seeing them walk around a normal version of them their own species.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_01]: I just think it's so badass.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, I remember you got the total aisle.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_01]: I know how you feel, because I spent almost, my whole 30 minutes of a sparkling dragonberry
- 7:29[SPEAKER_01]: uh... trying to get that tyron that i sent you the night and uh... it was very annoying that he showed up with like three minutes left like really all this farming back and forth so i get it and then i i i actually did the same thing uh... i played polka monami in x and y and make it rubian afis afire where you got to like kind of play with a polka monon in touch screen um...
- 7:50[SPEAKER_01]: it was actually a feature that you had to use to make them your friends and actually it was used for like hyper-training and stuff, getting to any hills status conditions too.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_02]: I remember using it only for that.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_02]: I could be wrong now.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you can also get rid of that.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_01]: So that was in son and moon as well.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I went to the bench and kind of just sat with Tyron and I was like, Oh, this is cool.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_01]: And I thought I sent it to the Pokemon family chat, but I actually ended up sitting at a Pokemon center bench and all of my Pokemon were sitting in front of me that were my party.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, Oh, this is like really badass.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: On minor gripe, if you didn't know, when you have all your Pokemon out, if they're a mega before you sit on the bench, they won't appear as their mega version in.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_01]: the the playing with the hanging out with Pokemon mode, which I'm kind of disappointed by because I want to see if make a frail get it with sleep with his hood like and put his arms like so he closes hood and like be protected while he's sleeping I just thought that would be like a cool little diesel don't even get that opportunity Is there a way to make him stand still because every time I would take pictures that he'd just be running around and I had to get lucky I probably just put the camera
- 8:56[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, there's a feature where it's like if you press this button, everyone looks at the camera, even on the character.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_02]: And then I was going to ask you about how far you are in the DLC because I'm I'm not too far in the DLC, but just from what I've seen so far, it seems kind of extremely repetitive.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so, you know, spoilers are out the window at this point with this game's life.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I caught Rekwaza, I'm basically able to do whatever I want.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I mean, there's things that I can still do, but as far as like, I have unlocked special scanning, so what that means is you can get 25,000 research points, and then you can go talk to some dude next time.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's the plasma guy's boss, like right hand man.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_01]: Anyways, you go talk to him and he'll bring up a five-star portal, a dimension, and that dimension can have rare Pokemon, you can have the fossil Pokemon, you can have even legendary Pokemon, mythical Pokemon, like that's how you get the rest of the Pokemon in the Pokénex.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I mean, the DLC is technically repetitive as shit.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_01]: which is, again, I think this game's big as problem is like, yeah, the gameplay loop is good.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like they've done that 30 seconds of fun.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_01]: Like they've succeeded and if it wasn't for that, this would be one of the worst Pokemon games ever.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_01]: Because I actually really enjoyed with like new to you, for instance, you know, I caught new to you, right?
- 10:19[SPEAKER_01]: So my, oh, this would be cool, because he has special attacks.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_01]: I loved destroying the Pokeballs and like running around and seeing what Pokemon were around and kind of traversing these little dimensions.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_01]: I got to be honest, I never really got old, but it sucks that that was the only thing it provided, you know, when you think of...
- 10:38[SPEAKER_01]: you know an expansion or a DLC usually they add more than just like hey here's what you're doing that's it so they left out from the main game that they could charge for.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah I mean that's what that's what really is a bummer because you know I'm probably on record in the past episodes not really given a shit and I still kind of don't and the sense of like I was going to get it regardless of whatever kind of DLC it was I just think it was very poor marketing to
- 11:05[SPEAKER_01]: an ounce it before the game even comes out in charge but for it before the game comes out and like it's still bothers me that the right shoes weren't available as like a hey thank you for supporting our expansion that should have been in the main game no doubt uh i agree with that uh but at least there here's something until we're ready to release it but then they released it like a month later and i'm like what the hell you get the right shoes then you can even make a dimensions you get a man like the story i just haven't got there yeah you haven't got there yet
- 11:36[SPEAKER_02]: No, I should so because he wrote a tin.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there's no mega for him.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_01]: So he's not really in the game.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_02]: So Cubono's happy about that.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_02]: But I was going to put it on my team and I was like, it's just a, I've used marijuana.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_02]: If it's not that good to be on.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_02]: It's one of my favorites, but it's just a pure grant.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_02]: I've been, it's not that good.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_01]: Well, the thing is Sue is like, this is a battling, really centered game.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_01]: So it's like, you know, them not being a good Pokemon, you know,
- 12:06[SPEAKER_01]: Like, yeah, kind of sucks, because that's how I am.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if survivors in the DLC, I think he is.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_01]: I know Zan goose is, so I usually put the both of them together, because they fight each other.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_01]: But, yeah, man, it kind of sucks when you have a Pokemon that you like, but it's kind of ass.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_01]: And in this DLC, they kind of have to be good.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_01]: Like the way the battling works in Legends EA, it's pretty unforgiving for the shitty Pokemon.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_01]: But no, I mean the DLC's fine.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_01]: It's just the DLC would have been like the perfect post game in terms of like I think it took me
- 12:46[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_01]: I guess if I really sat there five to eight hours of content like that should have been a post game content like that should not have been a paid Package again.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_01]: I reason why I say it don't care is because I would have paid regardless which I did but I doesn't mean it's okay and that they should have done that like I think I was even thinking about it when I was playing this week and I was like why didn't they actually like spend the resources on extra content for like
- 13:12[SPEAKER_01]: maybe unlocking different areas of callos like maybe hey you've completed all this now you can go fight the book one league and like they maybe they open that path into the map which i think is like two or three towns yeah like they could have done something like that i know it would have maybe seem weird to some people
- 13:29[SPEAKER_01]: But after seeing like, grow it on in Kyogur's origin cave, or the sky tower for Rayquazza, because you fight on top of the actual sky tower, and it's like, dude, like these re-imagined areas, like fucking sick, and it would've been so cool to just see a couple towns if fucking patch a grass, I don't know, it...
- 13:51[SPEAKER_01]: really struggle being in the city.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_02]: I got fatigue city fatigue because it all kind of looks the same and like I said, I think that's the game's biggest flaws.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_02]: It's visual is just you see the same fucking thing for like 90 plus percent of the game.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so you know, it's something else.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_01]: I think Legends EA will go down as like a fun experiment.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_01]: And that's pretty much it.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, if the game's basically writing on the fact that hopefully you like make a Pokemon, which I don't see how anyone couldn't out there, but whatever to each their own, you know, not everyone has to.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_02]: But if it's the second part to the DLC, isn't there?
- 14:33[SPEAKER_02]: I thought they said February was like part two or it was like, I'll have armor and like there's two parts it's just one part So that's, that's cool I don't know what I thought there was a you you kept thinking that two of last time about like pricing or like release dates you got all I totally miss heard and I thought that the DLC like dropped on the first day the game came out Okay, I mean, I've got the advantages wasn't accessible
- 15:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it was available to buy.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_02]: I got to learn to listen.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_01]: Might be good idea.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they might like shadow drop an update.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, technically, you know, they did that with Legends Arquise.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_01]: They did like the daybreak update, which added the whole like mass hoard system, mass outbreak system.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, it's just a work you more mega's, but there were probably tapped out.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_02]: We got a lot.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, we did get a lot.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_01]: We got a shit ton, actually.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_01]: Well, do we want to jump into?
- 15:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, fuck it.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_01]: Let's jump into the Pokemon Presents in the 30th anniversary.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, we had the Pokemon Presents coming up at the end of February.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know if you've seen the massive terror leak of Gen 10 generation 10.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_01]: There's even more that came out this week.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's all cool this week.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so it basically shows like the main island and then the islands around it and kind of details what's meant to be on them or described to be on them Got to be honest, you know from all the leaks that we've seen of like conceptual it's all conceptual until it's proven otherwise But the game looks good and concept like what they want to do with it get us out of the city of Lumios like going from Lumios to these islands that you can go underwater and
- 16:20[SPEAKER_01]: Explore these caves and you know explore the ocean and you know, of course in the game environment But go to these islands because there is a part of Sun and Moon that wasn't bad doing that They just could have made it better and this this Generation looks like it's meant to aim to be extremely tropical and like it looks like you're gonna want to be there Because it reminds me of like Mario Sunshine or like Mario games or Donkey Kong
- 16:47[SPEAKER_01]: So, I'm hoping we get more than just the starters.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_01]: But it's probably just the starters.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, we get the starters because we've had other generation reveals where we don't get the starters from the beginning.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's only been here and there.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_02]: What was the one before Scarnell and Violet?
- 17:03[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think so.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_02]: I thought she'll do we get those?
- 17:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that was the first time I was revealed.
- 17:10[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think they've ever missed the starter reveal.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_01]: I thought I was listening to a Pokemon podcast and they brought up a couple times what they didn't I don't remember them You weren't listening very well Oh, yeah, I mean damn that was today and you already forgot I was driving and listening anyway, but about the least generation five reveal the starters X and Y revealed the starters or didn't shield it son and yeah, they've all over it
- 17:43[SPEAKER_02]: They were going throughout the whole years and like showing the different system in games and then they announced oh, no, maybe that's the one that they're referring to maybe that was one because RKS and ZAA both did as well.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I know there's this credible Nintendo leaker and he was saying that.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_02]: for the upcoming generation 10.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_02]: He's like obviously doesn't look like final fantasy seven or something that will blow you out of the water, but it is a substantial, substantial leap and people are gonna be happy with the visuals.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_02]: And then I've been seeing little things about voice acting like recording.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that's gonna be happening too.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe I'm too hopeful with this franchise, but dude, I don't think so because I think so.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_01]: Well, no, I'm saying I don't think you're too hopeful because like I've been playing Dragon Quest 7 reimagined, which is just launched today and I've never played a Dragon Quest game.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_01]: I've always heard this similarities in terms of the world and the way they've designed it as Pokemon.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_01]: um... there's comparisons there and they're definitely is uh... as in they're not copying each other but there's similarities being a jrpg you know and that game has voice acting and it fucking it it's so important like it the game tells a great story and the voice acting just really elevates it i think and i really hope that this generation learns from the backlash that generation nine had and i honestly i think they will
- 19:13[SPEAKER_02]: I think they had a semi-reality check with the whole power world and the backlash from Gen 9.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think it's going to be as good as some of the AAA games we see in other consoles, but I think for Pokemon it's going to be a good leap and we'll be happy.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, man.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, again, there's eventually got to come a point where they pull their head out of their asses, whether it's Nintendo, putting deadlines on these guys, whether it's their dev teams being too small, maybe putting the right people in charge, who actually are still passionate about the franchise and not just meeting a quota, there's a lot of variables that
- 19:48[SPEAKER_01]: need to be understood.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's one of the biggest things to do is, like, listen, power of success is a testament that people are sick of the traditional formula Pokemon, but still love the idea of pocket monsters, and they want something to do with that.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_01]: And if they can find it somewhere else, they're going to.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I've been playing a lot of ramen hacks lately, and I completely beat Heart and Soul, both Jodo and Kanto.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_01]: If you haven't played that, it's one of the best Pokemon games ever made.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_01]: It's so faithful to modern mechanics and the original Heart Gold Silver.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously Gold and Silver.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_01]: It's just one of the best fucking games I've ever played and then I'm playing Pokemon Unbound and actually like playing it and I'm like dude like Game Freak really needs to just get their shit together because the fans that the diehard fans who are passionate about
- 20:42[SPEAKER_01]: making a balanced game or a faithful game that could have been made today is really is like it's beautiful but frustrating.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's so frustrating that like this is happening to a franchise and like honestly for me it sucks too because it's happening to Halo.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_01]: Technically it's happening to Elder Scrolls and Fallout.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like the fans are making better content than the stewards of the franchises and I think it's really a bummer to see and you know when I think of Pokemon
- 21:11[SPEAKER_01]: for generation 10 assuming that it does state like the concepts we just spoke of, but also adds voice acting like we have some serious potential here, like, and, you know, I, you know, I actually look back at the Scarlet and Violet Pokédex as well.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_01]: they haven't lost their touch with designs.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_01]: Some of them are, you know, people like to say, did you want to ask or something like that?
- 21:34[SPEAKER_01]: And I agree, a couple of them are a little tough, but when you look at the overall designs, and like obviously the thought that goes behind them, some of them are still very fucking solid.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_01]: And I thought Scarlett and Violet was actually kind of impressive.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_01]: I like the concepts of paradox Pokemon.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_01]: So instead of just having the regional forms and convergent forms, now we have paradox forms, which I hope that's like a storyline that doesn't get completely left dead in the water.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_01]: Hint-Hint water.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_01]: More mega-avolution forms.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like they're doing the right stuff.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's just the execution that really needs to be cleaned up.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_02]: I hope Gen10 looks cool.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_02]: I hope I hope what's that other battle stimulator on this champions champions?
- 22:28[SPEAKER_02]: I hope champions isn't too greedy when it comes to it's a pay-to-win game.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously it's gonna be like Pokemon Go and TCG Pocket, but I hope it's not like absurdly greedy.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_02]: I hope it's just fun, but
- 22:44[SPEAKER_01]: wonder how greedy it will be because it's got the whole point of the game is battling so if it's paid away that's going to die very fast.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_02]: That's true.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_02]: That's true.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_02]: Excuse me.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_01]: So it couldn't really be the only way I can be that data win or else it's going to be dead on a rival like it just wouldn't make any sense.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I'm not saying it's like a paid-a-win is it if you can like buy a maxed-out charge or so some little kid wants to play but if a hardcore trainer knows something like you know what I mean they could do something like that.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's going to happen regardless, but if you can pay for it, then yeah, there's a problem there.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_01]: because I can battle our nephew right now and he doesn't know that my Charizard's got max IVs and EVs and... Yeah.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_02]: And then he said it's going to be a freemium game where it's free to download and then you pay.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't know.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_02]: We're definitely going to hear about that at the end of the month.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_02]: So that will be out.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_01]: I think they're just going to shout out.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_01]: Drop it.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and do you see that thing for their teasing something at the Super Bowl?
- 23:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but it involves jigglypuff.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't think it's going to be anything where.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_02]: Is it for sure that it was jigglypuff just in the preview or did they say that it involved jigglypuff?
- 23:48[SPEAKER_01]: Well, no, but jigglypuff being in the preview doesn't really give me any hope towards anything.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_02]: And I was thinking like, does remember they announced that Netflix show like years ago?
- 23:56[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, what's going on with that?
- 23:58[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe they announced that.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the live-action TV show.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Yeah, that'd be cool, I guess.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know why they would do this one.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I do.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_01]: I was in Super Bowl's the best place to do it in the world.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, sure if it's the live action, TV show, why not?
- 24:17[SPEAKER_01]: I guess.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_01]: Kind of don't care and God knows how long yeah, like I forgot in about it.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_01]: That's how much I don't really pay attention to it.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_01]: But if it's good, hmm, I don't know, man, I just don't want it to be like, ash, I want it to be like, I just want red back, man.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_02]: What would even a good idea for a story for a Pokemon show that would like,
- 24:39[SPEAKER_02]: give you ideas for multiple seasons, but it is not ash, it could be a mystery.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_01]: It could just be red, man.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_01]: He literally goes to every region and beats every region.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_01]: He captures all the legendaries and mythicals and he's just a fucking thug and origins, origins are really good.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we'll do it.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_01]: When you look at origins and go, imagine him having that experience in every region.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, it's like a night and day difference from what Ash and Red
- 25:07[SPEAKER_01]: I just hope it's good.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_01]: I hope it's more like detective Pikachu and hopefully it looks like that.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_01]: I thought that looked fine, could he use some clean up on the designs?
- 25:18[SPEAKER_01]: But excuse me, damn.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't know, I guess we'll see.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I don't know.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_01]: I think Jigglypuff being there doesn't really, it doesn't really resonate with me.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_01]: When I think of Jigglypuff, I just think of like singing so maybe like Jigglypuff halftime show or like, I think it's gonna be something cheesy.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, probably.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_01]: That's cool for the kids, but doesn't maybe pertain to us.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_01]: I'd love to be wrong, by the way, I love.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_01]: And this case being wrong.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_02]: I think if it was like a TV show trailer or something, they wouldn't have used a regular jiggly puff.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_02]: They would have used like a one similar to detective Pikachu.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 25:55[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_01]: That's why I don't think we're alive action TV show.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, but them being there still means something like it's still important.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_01]: So.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, Jigglypuff is a canto Pokemon and sings in the shows and the movies and is known for singing.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, she used the pop-up on the main screen when they switched the Pokemon around and read blue and yellow, or I'm sorry, read blue and green.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, there's so many ways that could play out going from, wow, that was a waste of space, or that was like the coolest marketing for this X thing that gets revealed.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_01]: That is a massive toss up in my opinion, so I mean, you know, again, if it all works out great.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_01]: I think I'm just excited to see like Pokemon on the big screen like that, you know.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like if they're spending the time and money for a Super Bowl ad, I wouldn't think it's going to be something stupid.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be, and it's, and then they're using the time to not have it in the Pokemon presence or day or whatever it's called, they're doing the Super Bowl.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_02]: So it has to be something decent.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_02]: Watch it.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be fucking nothing.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it's going to be anything, but you're, you're not wrong, though.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_01]: That's how much they were.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_01]: I think last year at the year before which probably like six or seven million now.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_01]: So I mean, yeah, it's a big deal.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_01]: It's just a pretty big franchise in the world.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_01]: So it doesn't really need more FaceTime with people.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I mean, it's got to be something that makes people go.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, okay.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_02]: It's a bit of commercial for the ports.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_01]: Dude, it could be a fucking commercial for the ports, which is where I was leading to the red green and blue.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_01]: or it could be a fucking clothing line of jigglypuff shit i mean it could be anything it could be a jigglypuff Lego and then this is how they announced the Lego Pokemon to the main all-laying thing then the answer in a super world of all things are poking on a fucking Lego yeah it could literally be a fucking ad for Lego Pokemon i just thought of that and that's probably what it is
- 27:59[SPEAKER_01]: Holy shit, I guarantee you that's what it is.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_01]: Ugh.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_01]: And Julie Puff is just gonna just morph into a fucking lake over and of itself.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a guise man.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_02]: Oh my god, I built it.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_02]: That'll be $700.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, amen.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_01]: That's $700 set.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's fucking huge.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_02]: How big I didn't look about like how big it was.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_01]: It's gigantic.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_01]: Like Charizard is like the size of my head.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_02]: Did you get it?
- 28:23[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, it's like canceled the preorder because it couldn't justify.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_01]: I couldn't, I couldn't, like, justify it.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_02]: Paypal, pay by month.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_01]: I did do that, and I still wasn't happy with doing that.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I'm like, how am I supposed to save money for a house?
- 28:39[SPEAKER_01]: And here's the decisions I'm making.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_01]: Even if it is monthly, and the monthly was low.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm like, no, man, I'm good.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, smart.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I did buy the all-creative time of final battle set.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, that was cool, how much was that one?
- 28:53[SPEAKER_01]: Like, 120?
- 28:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's not bad at all.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_02]: That one's really cool.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_02]: I wanted the, the what's the tree called the Great Deku tree.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_02]: That one looked really cool.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_01]: I love it so much.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, so yeah, we'll see what happens with a jigglypuff commercial, we'll see what happens with any legends EA, maybe updates or extra content, generation 10 being fully announced to the presents.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_01]: I think this week or next week we should get Coliseum.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_01]: I fucking hope that they don't wait till the end of the month.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_01]: I swear to God, if our GameCube game in this month isn't Coliseum.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_01]: I might cry.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not going to drop before the Pokemon day.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_02]: They'll drop in on Pokemon and day if anything.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_01]: They're not going to announce it like, but the game teams have been coming out the first week or two of the month.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_01]: We're routinely all of them.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_01]: So that's why I'm like, ah, I could see it.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_02]: Have they added a gamecube game every single month lately?
- 29:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_01]: I think they missed one.
- 29:50[SPEAKER_01]: The only thing they did that was different, which it kind of backs you up.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_01]: If I'm correct, was Luigi's Mansion kind of just snuck up.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know where right, like one week before Halloween.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah, yeah, and then Wario World came out with like no warning and just out now.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_01]: She the robo, Wario World, Luigi's Mansion, Fire Emblem, Path of Radiance.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_02]: Um, and then for the up team time.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_02]: If we do not get ports at this Pokemon day, we're not getting them ever.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_01]: This is the last time we do for sure Brian.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_01]: This is it.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so glad that you said that guys, if it doesn't happen this presents, we're not getting them like it's just not happening.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_02]: It's not happening.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_02]: If it's not this direct, we've been saying it for like,
- 30:33[SPEAKER_02]: at least five six four four five years yeah probably yeah something something fucking stupid I hope to got to be get a man I want to know how they would do it they I don't think they would add them to the regular NSO because that's money they could lose yeah no you got it you got to sell these as a switch to or I'm switch one into collection what if they had their own NSO type app but it
- 31:02[SPEAKER_02]: That is stupid.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_02]: A couple bucks a month.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_02]: No, you couldn't justify that because eventually they're going to run out of games so you couldn't even do that.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_02]: They couldn't do that.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you're not full of good ideas today.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_02]: They're best bet is to just release physical ones.
- 31:16[UNKNOWN]: Oh.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_01]: Dude, they release a physical collection of each games that are rival each other.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_01]: I like how I'm like disappearing slowly as it gets darker.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_01]: They release a...
- 31:28[SPEAKER_01]: So like, you'll be like a red collection and then a blue collection.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_01]: So you have red, red, gold, ruby, fucking pearl or whatever.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_01]: Now that I'm not gonna do DS, I'm okay with that too.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_02]: I was gonna say, I do not think they're gonna do DS until we somehow have a way to have two screens.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_02]: They're not gonna do it where it's like both are on one screen.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_02]: They won't, yeah.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_01]: Which is kind of stupid anyways.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_03]: I hate putting like that.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so I think it's gonna be like red, gold, fucking ruby, but the problem is, so the problem with this collection and how we want it, all of us want it so bad is like crystal, fucking yellow, and what is happening to me?
- 32:06[SPEAKER_01]: Crystal, yellow, and emerald are like the definitive ways to play these games for the time period, and then you got fire red and leave rain, which is the definitive way to play
- 32:18[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what they're gonna do.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_01]: I think no matter what, I'm gonna be sad because don't get me wrong is like his clothes it would be to get like red and blue and yellow and all that because I remember when we got it virtual console that was like an epic moment.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_01]: I remember stepping outside of sprouts to watch that presents and like being my and blown and like so I think I screamed because of how happy I was because I think they came out that day and they like red and blue.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_01]: Um, that was a really cool moment in history, but I guess my issue is is like if you don't release the definitive versions of the generations and like what's the point?
- 32:53[SPEAKER_02]: Hmm.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_02]: Well, do you think it's actually gonna happen or if you lost hope?
- 32:57[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, well, I will say that.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's gonna happen.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_01]: I think this is it.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I hope.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_01]: I think you have to do it, man.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_01]: Do there's no way that they're that stupid.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_01]: Like this is the easiest catch grab ever.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, people would eat it up.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_02]: People would, you could sell them both for food, so I would buy it digitally.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_01]: I would buy the sealed physical copies of it.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_01]: I would go.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_01]: I cannot believe I'm disappearing right now.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_01]: I would go Apeship for this stuff.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_01]: But I also think it would be cool, man.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I would love to like see a kid like miles and Maddie and like,
- 33:37[SPEAKER_02]: you know see this and go what the hell is this it looks terrible and like but maybe they're interested because i know miles actually does give the old games a shot i don't know if that would help the market all because you know how much the games are the market like because with some of the games that they put on an SO that are worth like a fuck ton of money they've like the prices have gone down slightly so i wonder if that would happen with Pokemon probably not but
- 34:00[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, how much is Fire Emblem Path of Radiance?
- 34:03[SPEAKER_01]: Because it was like 200 plus dollars.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_02]: I haven't checked that one.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_02]: But I know, do you remember 1,000 year door?
- 34:08[SPEAKER_02]: Like that used to be a crazy expensive game.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_02]: And after they remake it, or remade it.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I can confirm Path of Radiance didn't go down.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_01]: It looks like a dime.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_01]: Oh wow, yeah, it's so expensive as fuck.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_02]: I'm in more under there.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's stuck dude.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see, Chibi Robo, one of the most expensive games ever.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I could be wrong with this game died.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's at 200 bucks now.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_02]: A few other examples I had of games that wouldn't do.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Chibi Robo is a $200.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm pretty sure it used to be like five to a thousand.
- 34:46[UNKNOWN]: Oh.
- 34:46[SPEAKER_01]: It was like a stupidly expensive game.
- 34:49[SPEAKER_01]: So, I don't know, man.
- 34:52[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I hope, oh, I'm just disappearing now.
- 34:54[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just gone.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_01]: I hope it does work out that way because I, I don't know, I will get into it.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_01]: Oh wait, but yeah, we'll see, we'll see, because I was even talking about legend as other.
- 35:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, man.
- 35:09[SPEAKER_01]: You got it, I don't know, fuck it.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_01]: But you have to get Pokemon call a CM this month.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_01]: have to get the collection.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_02]: I've never played either of those games.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't have a game cube and every time I've tried to emulate it, it's had like issues.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm excited to play those for the first time.
- 35:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we need the collection.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_01]: Genten starters, fucking callcm and maybe ex-deal darkness.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't really symbol that at the same time, but you can.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe something legends EA or like, they can do a backwards update, which I don't know why they wouldn't
- 35:46[SPEAKER_01]: because those games that 60 frames of e-sick is fucked.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_02]: I would love RCH used to get a switch to patch, but I don't think they will because that would pick the eyes off of ZA.
- 35:55[SPEAKER_01]: But ZA is not going to be selling like crazy copies.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you're right.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_01]: Because for the most part, RKS is like really, you know, it's, it's loved.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_01]: So, um...
- 36:15[SPEAKER_01]: Dude, for everyone listening because of where you don't post videos, I just had like a golden gate bridge San Francisco background But you can just see my camera at like just my face and it's progressively gotten so dark in my room that now the cameras are struggling to even have me on this screen Anything else from Pokemon that you hope to see does it have to be a game is there anything else like I hope that they oh
- 36:44[SPEAKER_02]: Oh god, I'm so glad like I'm not checked into the TCG because that's like a I don't yeah, that sounds like it would bird a hole in my wall.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_02]: There's some damn cool cards out there, but I'm glad I'm not like deep into that like you are He said that sounds like it'd burn a hole in your pocket.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm glad I'm not deep into that one like you are because there's some damn cool cards And every year I buy a couple packs a couple cards, but man What was that when you bought some I recently wasn't a Charizard a couple months ago?
- 37:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I forgot what it was.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody who's the Mega Charizard from Fintasma Flames.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's a $600.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_01]: But it's the first card to every feature like the whole evolution line on the card.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be a modern.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be a great help.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_01]: Kind of got a legos with that.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know that the Pokemon card, but yeah, I could have really.
- 37:37[SPEAKER_01]: Do the card is epic.
- 37:39[SPEAKER_01]: Like I was even telling Savannah, I was like, I'll sell my card collection again.
- 37:42[SPEAKER_01]: If it goes towards like a down payment for the house.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_01]: And thankfully, she's really supportive of like, don't do that because you already hate that you lost your collection the last time.
- 37:53[SPEAKER_01]: But that card would not be sold.
- 37:55[SPEAKER_01]: Like there's a few cards that I would, yeah, there's a few cards that like would never leave my position again.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_01]: And that's one of them.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_02]: That was harder than with my cards, I held onto you just a couple.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, that card is gonna be a couple of thousand dollars one someday.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it's no question about it.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_01]: In five years, that card will probably be $1,500 or more.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_02]: We'll definitely get some announcements for what they're doing with the TCG for the 30th anniversary.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_01]: right and then you'll have like a 30th anniversary pocket set masters ex content update pokemon go content update although Brian what I would like to see and I know with that we've always talked about playing it we never really got around to it I would love to see it in attendance which to version of pokemon unite because I'm not gonna lie if they did that I'd probably play it because that game is actually fun as fuck I would just like it to perform perfectly
- 38:48[SPEAKER_01]: and a switch to update like they switch to can handle that game for sure.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_02]: That's like that seemed like a easy one they could do.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_01]: I guess you know I think that's a slam dunk.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_01]: Mova is a really cool and concept and I actually think Pokemon did a fucking great job with unite.
- 39:03[SPEAKER_01]: You can play as Hoh-oh in it.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_01]: You can literally play a match as Hoh-oh, by the way.
- 39:08[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know who else they've added recently, but the roster is insane.
- 39:11[SPEAKER_01]: It is a completely free to play game with premium purchases.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_01]: Excuse me, damn.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, oh, would, you know, probably be like a premium item.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_01]: Now, you can earn them, but obviously you can just buy them too.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, it's not as expensive, but yeah.
- 39:35[SPEAKER_01]: I would love to see like switch to upgrades for like pass Pokemon games.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know, man, I think it sucks,
- 39:45[SPEAKER_01]: doing this because we've done it so many times and like the presents are like strategically the same fucking thing every time.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I just hope because it's the 30th it's a big anniversary that we get more announcements because I feel like the last couple years have only been like one or two things that we really care about and the rest is just like swap.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll see.
- 40:08[SPEAKER_01]: Keep doggy.
- 40:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I feel like it last couple of years, it's just one or two things we care about and the rest is sloped like what was that toothbrush you have that was a good one Pokemon smile.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_02]: How's that doing so.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to keep talking here.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Pokemon in my right.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so sorry I had to take that.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I don't know man like I was talking about a switch to version for Pokemon smile.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, you.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, you know, I just think it sucks that they're so like the same, like they're going to start off with like maybe one cool new little thing and then go into their cafe remix, fucking Pokemon Masters.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not saying I don't want those fans who are clearly keeping those games alive to get some kind of fresh update, but they can look forward to.
- 41:01[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's great.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_01]: But I think the Pokemon franchise is so huge, like,
- 41:07[SPEAKER_01]: Let's make these like 30 fucking minute to an hour presentations like you have so many you have clothing brands, you have toys, plushes, legos, video games, TCG, fucking movies, TV shows, I think I already said all that, but it's like there's so much to this franchise now, these 15 minute 20 minute presentations, they fucking stress me out.
- 41:28[SPEAKER_02]: Because I read there.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_02]: Remember last year when they announced it like a little over two months before and we got so freaking excited and then we lost our minds for nothing.
- 41:37[SPEAKER_02]: They never do that.
- 41:37[SPEAKER_02]: They usually now to like the week of a couple days before.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_01]: And that's I think even right now as we're sitting here.
- 41:43[SPEAKER_01]: It's not even announced officially yet, right?
- 41:45[SPEAKER_02]: now we know it's happening but they usually do it like the week of like a couple days before but last year they did it like two and a half or three months before and then we're like something's up that's not normal and then it was the same.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_01]: It was it was fucking nothing the same old shit.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_01]: I just wish that I'm not saying they don't take pride.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_01]: I just wish that they gave us a little bit more, man.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they have the Pokemon.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, we have Pokemon Poco Pia.
- 42:09[SPEAKER_01]: We don't have more on that.
- 42:10[SPEAKER_01]: We don't have the fucking the fun free to play our $10 Pokemon puzzle game that released on the Switch last holiday season, which I played for a little bit is actually kind of cool as a relaxing game because you can earn, make yarn into Pokemon plushies.
- 42:27[SPEAKER_01]: actually kind of cool.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_02]: I hope they don't waste too much time on Poco Pia because that game comes out a couple days after Obviously they will have some sort of trailer Really I'm passing on the side of it besides the digital character like everything else about it seems so fucking interesting to me And literally just looks like Pokemon Animal Crossing which is cool.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_01]: Listen your ditch.
- 42:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's a false apocalyptic fucking Pokemon game.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that doesn't sound cool to you
- 42:55[SPEAKER_02]: The game sounded mid from the beginning and maybe I maybe I would have thought about grabbing it until I saw keycart from the biggest fucking franchise and Like media there's no fucking excuse for that fuck that game Yeah, okay, I like that.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I can keep everything really pisses me other companies, but come on Did the game freak make this one?
- 43:20[SPEAKER_02]: I don't remember
- 43:21[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, doesn't matter, doesn't matter who it is like the key card thing should not be a fucking thing here and there's no big deal Like I know it technically cost money, so it needs another profits, but with companies as big as Pokemon That's like if Mario did that shit.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_02]: I'd be fucking living
- 43:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I know.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not a fan of the key card stuff.
- 43:44[SPEAKER_01]: It's a double-edged sword, too, because I love having things digitally, you know, but, you know, there's some games that I want to have like a physical copy of it and I want to be able to just like, hey, I could put this character in and I'm good to go.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_01]: I could play the game and it's just so fucking irritating.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's going to be a big issue in the beginning of the Switch 2's life because the microSD expresses their fairly new, but as they become more common and more sizes are available, these companies won't have to buy the 64 gig, they can buy a smaller one at less.
- 44:17[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't think it's going to be like throughout the lifespan of the Switch 2, I could be wrong, but I think it's just because the microSD expresses are so new that there's only one option available for.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, we'll kind of move on from the Pokemon stuff because the key card stuff's going to come up again.
- 44:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, um, is there anything else Pokemon related that you really hope, like, hey, I just want something announced?
- 44:41[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I think we touched on our fucked on Pokemon, so.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'll just leave it with this.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_01]: I hope we get a new spinoff besides Pocapea that is worth looking forward to.
- 44:51[SPEAKER_01]: That's it.
- 44:51[SPEAKER_01]: Like a full Coliseum Stadium, Mystery Dungeon, like just something that gives us a glimpse at what other creativity can be had, which is like...
- 45:03[SPEAKER_01]: It could be a 2.5D game that's full 3D graphics or like the layout like I would die for that again Again as I'm playing Dragon Quest the layout of the the maps and stuff are the same as Pokemon But it's like fully realized in 3D beautiful graphics.
- 45:18[SPEAKER_02]: And it's like why don't we have this in Pokemon It's the last time instead of the chv style like they did for brilliant diamond shining pearl if they did at 2.5d We make a crystal our golden silver
- 45:30[SPEAKER_02]: fog.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_02]: That would be amazing.
- 45:33[SPEAKER_01]: Be amazing.
- 45:35[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, let's talk about the Nintendo partner showcase.
- 45:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's pretty, you know, it's pretty quick conversation, but I wanted to touch on it because
- 45:43[SPEAKER_01]: I'm really impressed with developers kind of pushing the switch to as limits, or at least what they can so far.
- 45:50[SPEAKER_01]: We've already talked about it several times now in Final Fantasy, and then today, the Rebirth, the Final Fantasy Rebirth trailer, which has even more like open world content, looks fucking crazy.
- 46:04[SPEAKER_01]: Is there anything that stood out to you today, or anything about the switch to that you'd really like to mention at all, before we kind of wrap this up?
- 46:10[SPEAKER_02]: Most of the Bethesda stuff, we'll get into that but those are the main things I cared about.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I love Hollow Knight.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_02]: It's cool that's getting us switched to version.
- 46:18[SPEAKER_02]: I've already played the entire game and I'm kind of still focusing on silk songs.
- 46:21[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm excited for that one, but it's not like I'm gonna go jump back to Hollow Knight.
- 46:26[SPEAKER_02]: I have like over 100 hours in that game.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_01]: So, well, it is a free update that came out today.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_02]: It's cool that they did that, but I just, I've already put so much time into the game.
- 46:37[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe I'll mess with it a little bit.
- 46:39[SPEAKER_02]: But I don't think I want to do a full play through at least not until I beat Silkson.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_01]: In the trailer, the Hollow Knight guy is fighting the Silkson person.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, that happens in the- that happens in the first game.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_01]: But the silk song person doesn't die.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_02]: No, no.
- 46:57[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay.
- 46:58[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if you ever played Sonic and Knuckles.
- 47:00[SPEAKER_02]: It's like that one Sonic fights Knuckles and then at the end of the fight, they just get away.
- 47:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like they don't beat him.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay.
- 47:09[SPEAKER_01]: Um, yeah, so I'm in the hall and I free updates always really cool.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_01]: And obviously it's out now.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I thought Turak looked really cool.
- 47:17[SPEAKER_01]: Um, it's like a really huge sci-fi version of Turak, but some of the old Turak games are pretty out there.
- 47:24[SPEAKER_01]: Um, especially the N64 ones, two and three exactly.
- 47:29[SPEAKER_01]: And then even my personal favorite one from just a kid standpoint growing up is a Turak evolution on the GameCube.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_01]: At one point, you're fucking in a factory with dinosaurs and sci-fi guns, and this game looks like that, and you can switch between first and third person, and you can play it completely solo, or you can play it without the three players online.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_01]: There's just a lot to the game that looks like it's fun and just doesn't take itself too serious, and knows what the fans want, guns, dinosaurs, cool effects.
- 47:59[SPEAKER_01]: abilities, just opportunities, just to do cool things, and it looks like the game is really trying to pull that off and Saber Interactive is a great developer.
- 48:11[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously Final Fantasy Rebirth looks good.
- 48:13[SPEAKER_01]: I think the the big thing for me, Brian, that just came out this week through the switch up guys on YouTube is How fucking remarkable and well performed in terms of running on a handheld console, essentially Resident Evil Requiem looks if you didn't know even in handheld mode that game can run at 60 frames.
- 48:34[SPEAKER_01]: They just held up.
- 48:36[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I pre-ordered that one today
- 48:38[SPEAKER_01]: Dude, it looks so fucking good.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_01]: If I'll send you this switch up video, because I actually, the direct doesn't make it look good, but the actual gameplay footage that they just got over the past weekend is like, I cannot believe this game looks so good on a switch too.
- 48:53[SPEAKER_01]: And like Capcom has really figured something out with the RE engine and running it on a switch.
- 49:00[SPEAKER_02]: Have you seen how good of a deal the bundle is for that game?
- 49:04[SPEAKER_02]: Could you know how there's three coming out, right?
- 49:07[SPEAKER_02]: i think one sixty dollars one seventy and one forty something like that i could be off by a little bit but if you buy the bundle with all three has like outer box it's ninety bucks all like village uh... requiem and whatever the other one was and they're the one that he cards but like flock i might i might buy because that's such a damn good price little
- 49:31[SPEAKER_01]: fucking key cards man uh... by for fucking final fantasy too because i keep here nothing but good things about that game and did you play the demo i played a little bit of it and i was happy with it and i'm like okay i don't want get spoiled anymore i'm gonna buy this game okay uh... i don't really remember what else came out today because i wasn't trying to like go to but doesn't right away um...
- 49:53[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, I thought a lot of the, no offense to them, but I thought a lot of the Japanese games like look fucking stupid and boring I like how they're like the next section's going to focus on Japanese anime game and amazing course yeah, yeah, and amazing games and then they did like a montage reel of like other games coming Yeah, I just it's not that it's fine, you know what it's just not for me
- 50:23[SPEAKER_01]: But some of these games is like, where did it go?
- 50:26[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, who is this for?
- 50:27[SPEAKER_02]: It would go to me later in there.
- 50:29[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, that's cool.
- 50:30[SPEAKER_02]: It's always time on goats and me later, even though I look at those games.
- 50:34[SPEAKER_01]: I won't probably buy it or play it.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_01]: But Valheim is cool.
- 50:37[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 50:38[SPEAKER_01]: That's a very big game.
- 50:40[SPEAKER_01]: That's a big get.
- 50:44[SPEAKER_01]: The e-football, that's cool, you know, and oh, I'm really excited for the Avengers of Alien.
- 50:53[SPEAKER_01]: the demo for this is really cool.
- 50:54[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to try to finish it to really verify if I want it, but I love the fucking art style for this game.
- 51:00[SPEAKER_01]: I'm really trying to come outside my comfort zone and play different games.
- 51:06[SPEAKER_01]: Dragon Quest is a massive departure for me and so far I'm really enjoying it.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_01]: So the Avengers of Eliot's really high at my list of games I want to play this year.
- 51:16[SPEAKER_01]: I was hoping
- 51:19[SPEAKER_01]: Like a pretty close release date, though, I'm kind of sad it's not until June.
- 51:22[SPEAKER_01]: Again, Final Fantasy Rebirth comes out June 3rd.
- 51:29[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not a Final Fantasy guy, but I got to admit I want to play on Pragmatic Game, and the Pragmatic Game looks okay.
- 51:36[SPEAKER_01]: That demo is actually out now, so I'm probably going to try the demo out.
- 51:40[SPEAKER_01]: I played, oh, so it's called Turrock Origins.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_01]: That comes as fall.
- 51:45[SPEAKER_01]: I think Turrock Origins is a huge get for the Switch community.
- 51:50[SPEAKER_01]: The Switch to community.
- 51:51[SPEAKER_01]: It looks like a fantastic fucking shooter.
- 51:56[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's a great game to be on the switch to, even though I probably will go Xbox because I wanted to run as good as possible to play it.
- 52:04[SPEAKER_01]: Did you want a story-time stranger comes out on the switch and switch to in July?
- 52:08[SPEAKER_01]: That game was wildly successful last year again, the conversation of like, people are tired of the old Pokemon formula.
- 52:16[SPEAKER_01]: Did you want to kind of make it into come back in that sense?
- 52:19[SPEAKER_01]: I played the demo for a little bit at Monster Hunter Stories 3.
- 52:24[SPEAKER_01]: There's just something about this JRPG like this turn-based combat not too sold on, which bumps me out because I think this game looks so fucking good, but that demo's out now if you want to try it.
- 52:37[SPEAKER_01]: We had the arcade console archives revisit, that was okay, and then we had the real of like WWE golf.
- 52:46[SPEAKER_01]: Go to me later, other shit.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_01]: And then, Resident Evil Requiem with the Mebo's, which is kind of cool, you know, if you're gonna do that sort of thing.
- 52:55[SPEAKER_01]: But obviously, the main get of the show, which I'm pretty happy about, I already knew one of them was coming, I think the second one too, to be honest, but yeah, so we have Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, which is getting a physical cartridge, not releases May 12th for the Switch 2, and then we also have
- 53:16[SPEAKER_01]: But we have Fallout 4 coming out, the anniversary edition, which comes with all creation content that was put in the package and then all original expansions, far harbors, like its own game, it's a wonderful story.
- 53:28[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's one of the best story writing we've had in a long time.
- 53:32[SPEAKER_01]: Fallout 4 for me personally is, it's a good game, it's just, it's not after playing 76 for so long, it's kinda hard to go back.
- 53:42[SPEAKER_01]: but for anyone who is interested in Fallout, like this is a great fucking game, like I highly recommend it.
- 53:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just hoping it runs well because the final game announced which makes sense to come to this which too, but I didn't think it was gonna happen which is all just rules for Oblivion Remastered.
- 54:01[SPEAKER_01]: I almost screamed at this because I just think of having like a blivey and remastered handheld is like a dream come true.
- 54:09[SPEAKER_01]: Like literally when I think of like halo and stuff like this game is up there.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_01]: It's one of my favorite games of all time.
- 54:14[SPEAKER_01]: Probably my favorite RPG of all time.
- 54:16[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, this is a huge yet Brian, how do you feel about like the Bethesda games is obviously you know that I love them, you know that I talk about them all the time, but like did they interest you like where do you sit with that?
- 54:26[SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah, that was definitely a highlight, if not the most hyped thing of the whole presentation.
- 54:31[SPEAKER_02]: Indiana Jones, I'm definitely picking up.
- 54:34[SPEAKER_02]: I want to pick up Fallout 4, but I already have it for Xbox One and PlayStation 3, and I still haven't dive into it, and I can't justify painful price for the Switch 2, maybe, maybe eventually if they have a seller or something, but did you see it's not even a key card, it's a coded box, so I don't know how I feel about that.
- 54:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's like you open the parts are the case and let's just a piece of paper and then it's download.
- 55:01[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so yeah, I'll get them and I forget that you're such a physical collector.
- 55:07[SPEAKER_02]: I'll get it eventually, but I can't see myself spending full price on it when I already kind to own them.
- 55:12[SPEAKER_02]: So if they have like an eShop deal, which I'm sure at some point they will, then I think that's pretty good for them.
- 55:18[SPEAKER_02]: And oblivion, probably these exact same thing, if they do a sale of grab it, I like Skyrim, but I haven't played oblivion obviously.
- 55:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, oblivion is a game where 500 hours to a thousand hours is really not that hard to do.
- 55:35[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 55:37[SPEAKER_01]: I'm extremely subjective to it about that opinion, but, um, man, it's, uh, it's fucking great.
- 55:47[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it's, if it just runs really well at least at 30 frames, because there's, I don't think there's any way it runs at 60 frames, I don't think it's gonna be possible, um, because even the steam deck struggles with, uh, oblivion remastered, um,
- 56:00[SPEAKER_01]: But even if it runs at a great 30 frames, that's really optimized, which for Bethesda's not easy to do.
- 56:07[SPEAKER_01]: I think people are in for a massive treat, especially all the fans who've never played it before.
- 56:11[SPEAKER_01]: I'm kind of hoping that maybe they'd throw in like some Zelda crossover again.
- 56:15[SPEAKER_01]: It's a really entice people to give this game a shot.
- 56:18[SPEAKER_01]: None of the game needs it, to be honest, if it runs well.
- 56:22[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I think it's exciting and I just think overall,
- 56:29[SPEAKER_01]: to follow up from our last podcast.
- 56:32[SPEAKER_01]: I love having a switch to him and like the consoles really come in together.
- 56:37[SPEAKER_01]: I don't feel like I've been beta testing for the last six months.
- 56:40[SPEAKER_01]: I still have enjoyed it since the day of the box with my Mario Kart world.
- 56:44[SPEAKER_01]: But I I fucking love this console dude like I love this console a lot.
- 56:48[SPEAKER_01]: I think there's just so a crazy amount of stuff that it offers and the more we get upgraded versions because, you know, everyone's different again, but I love this era of taking a game that you might may have loved and like, hey, let's update it so it runs at maybe what you envisioned for it originally.
- 57:07[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm all about that.
- 57:09[SPEAKER_01]: So this switch to getting that kind of like series X and PS5 treatment where these games got a step above is a really big deal to me.
- 57:18[SPEAKER_01]: Especially when it comes to like, you know, weird way I look at as like game preservation of in the sense of like, here's what maybe the developers always wanted to do, but couldn't at the time.
- 57:29[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it's fucking beautiful.
- 57:30[SPEAKER_01]: So, but all those Bethesda games coming to this switch to is only at more of an indicator that Xbox is definitely going to keep pushing their product on the switch.
- 57:41[SPEAKER_01]: I actually thought they would have surprised us with something I know it's crazy, but like Halo or Forza today.
- 57:46[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it would have been a great opportunity to not only celebrate the 25th anniversary of Halo, but Forza, I think, can run on the switch to I'm pretty confident in that.
- 57:56[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, unfortunately though the more we talk about it probably wouldn't be on the game card because it's too big of a game.
- 58:05[SPEAKER_02]: It's just way too big I don't take a key card over a code in box honestly if you I had to get one yeah, yeah, code in boxes just a waste of paper and plastic Yeah, it's almost insulting So yeah, that's pretty much it Anything else brand I think that's it.
- 58:24[SPEAKER_02]: I think we covered it
- 58:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I definitely definitely covered a lot today.
- 58:27[SPEAKER_01]: I just appreciate you coming on to do this.
- 58:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's been really nice to record Maybe one day I'll get back to normal schedule, but no promises at this point But yeah, I think you guys so much for listening Hopefully some of our predictions come true because if they do it's just a massive benefit to all Pokemon and it's a no-fans around But yeah, you can find Brian at a vinyl page.
- 58:47[SPEAKER_01]: Please check it out.
- 58:48[SPEAKER_01]: Anything else, Brian?
- 58:50[SPEAKER_02]: No, I think that's it
- 58:52[SPEAKER_01]: Alright, well, yeah, I think you guys so much for listening and we'll see you on the next episode.
- 58:55[SPEAKER_02]: Peace!
