- 0:00If you've ever wondered what is discipleship and what it looks
- 0:03like to be a disciple of Christ, but not just a disciple of
- 0:05Jesus, but a disciple maker, this episode's
- 0:23Yo, what up, everybody? Welcome back to Heart Check
- 0:24podcast. I'm your host, Pastor Los.
- 0:28Yeah, let's go and I'm so excited to be back with you
- 0:31guys. We are in week two of our More
- 0:34Like Jesus episode series that we're going through.
- 0:37If you have not tapped in yet, last week we started off this
- 0:41series with the title of invite. And really what we were
- 0:44discussing was stepping out, building relationships, being
- 0:48intentional to bring people into your life, what that looks like
- 0:52to be a disciple maker. We learned about what it is to
- 0:55be a disciple of Jesus, what discipleship means and how it
- 0:58flows from a place of evangelism.
- 1:00But now this week, I'm excited because we're going to go a
- 1:02little deeper. We're going to take a little
- 1:04step down a little more into this discipleship journey.
- 1:08And if we're being honest, this step we're talking about today,
- 1:11this is where it starts to get real.
- 1:13This is where it starts to get uncomfortable.
- 1:15This is where it starts to cost something because episode 2 is
- 1:19all about welcome, welcoming people now into your life, that
- 1:24next step of what it looks like to be a disciple maker.
- 1:28And I want to watch on this week especially discipleship is
- 1:34something that we don't do just as a program or something we do
- 1:39to accomplish what we want to accomplish.
- 1:41That man, I'm putting in this effort and this energy that I'm
- 1:44welcoming these people in my life.
- 1:45And the only reason I'm doing this is so I can be baptizing
- 1:48them in the river, that I can get them to put their faith in
- 1:51Jesus. A course that is our ultimate
- 1:53goal as people who know the truth of God that we are
- 1:57followers of Jesus ourselves. We want others to come find, to
- 2:00find faith in Jesus because we know that's where they'll
- 2:03receive eternal life. But what I want us to hear is
- 2:06discipleship isn't something we try to just do so we get the
- 2:10outcome we want. We do it because it's what Jesus
- 2:14did and it's us obeying him ultimately that we are trying to
- 2:17reach the person and the people who don't know him, that we're
- 2:21just going to let God do what only he can do.
- 2:23In First Corinthians 3, we plant the seed, we water the seed of
- 2:26faith, but God can only grow the seed to faith.
- 2:29So we get to participate in his plan, but discipleship is going
- 2:34to cost something to us. We're going to have to love with
- 2:37no strings attached that we're not doing this just so we get
- 2:40what we want out of it. We're doing it because it's who
- 2:43God calls us to be. That we're called to go love our
- 2:47neighbor as ourselves. That we're called to therefore
- 2:49go and and baptize all people, all nations in the name of the
- 2:53Father, Son of Holy Spirit that we're called to live out this
- 2:56Great Commission. Not so we get the result that
- 2:59that we want that we think to in ourselves.
- 3:01Well, man, I'm keep meeting with this person and they just man,
- 3:04nothing's changing. So I'm going to just bounce out.
- 3:07No, we, we are intentional to step into relationships knowing
- 3:12that God is the only one who can grow their faith that the Holy
- 3:15Spirit is the one who can Pierce through their heart and leave
- 3:17them close to you. We get to be, we get to be
- 3:20instruments of God in that we get to love people and meet them
- 3:23where they're at, but we got to let God do what only God can do.
- 3:26So this step right here we're talking about is a little
- 3:29harder, a little deeper, a little bit one that's a little
- 3:31bit more uncomfortable because inviting someone into your life
- 3:34is one thing, but actually welcoming them into your life,
- 3:38that's different, that's deeper. That's where discipleship really
- 3:42begins to take shape. Because now we're not just
- 3:44saying, hey man, let's go hang out, let's go grab some coffee.
- 3:47Then we're doing things that are kind of outside of our home or
- 3:50outside of in our hearts that we're keeping them at, you know,
- 3:54arm's length. This is now saying, come into my
- 3:57life, get to know me on a deeper level.
- 4:00I'm going to let you walk with him.
- 4:01I'll let you come into my home. I'm going to let you get to know
- 4:04my family, the people who matter to me, the things that matter to
- 4:07me. You are welcoming them now into
- 4:09your life. Inviting is just inviting them
- 4:12into a relationship with you, a friendship with you.
- 4:13Going to get coffee, talking to each other a little bit more.
- 4:16You know, maybe that's texting. Whatever it may look like now,
- 4:18this welcome stage of discipleship is you are
- 4:21welcoming them into your life. It means we start to do life
- 4:26together. You heard me say that last
- 4:28episode, Doing Life together. This is not just surface level
- 4:32conversations, but real life showing up for people, making
- 4:37them a priority, welcoming them into your home and into your
- 4:41heart. Now this isn't just someone you
- 4:44see every once in a while. This isn't just someone you kind
- 4:48of get together with here and there once a month, every other
- 4:50month. This is someone you are
- 4:52intentionally choosing to connect with on a consistent
- 4:56basis. Who is that one for you we
- 4:59talked about last week? For you to be praying for that
- 5:02person that you are supposed to be connecting to on a more
- 5:06intentional way that reaching for Jesus or someone who is new
- 5:09to the faith that God is calling you to walk with them, to now
- 5:12welcome them into your life. You invited them into a into a
- 5:15friendship, into a relationship with you.
- 5:17Now, what does this look like? To welcome them fully into your
- 5:20life, to make this something that's deeper, that's beneath
- 5:23the surface. That you are going to be honest
- 5:26and vulnerable and transparent in a way that you're not with
- 5:28everybody, but you're going to for the sake of disciple in this
- 5:32person in your life. And here's what happens in the
- 5:34stage. The relationship shifts.
- 5:36It moves from getting to know each other to actually going
- 5:39beneath the surface. Now there's vulnerability, now
- 5:42there's openness, now there's honesty.
- 5:45You start to talk about real things, sins, struggles, doubts,
- 5:49wins, failures, because life isn't always sunshine and
- 5:53rainbows. You are welcoming someone into
- 5:55the mess with you. They're messy, you're messy.
- 5:58All of us are imperfect. But discipleship, when I see in
- 6:02Scripture the way Jesus steps into people's lives, that he
- 6:07welcomes them into his life, following him, being around him,
- 6:12it's real, it's life. Discipleship can't be this
- 6:16facade. It can't be.
- 6:18I'm trying to put on a front and I'm trying to let people only
- 6:20see the best parts. Discipleship looks like letting
- 6:24people into the real and raw of your life that you are
- 6:27intentional to say, hey, come, come, come be in my home, come
- 6:31be around my marriage, come be around my family.
- 6:34See the ways that I not just succeed, but the ways I also
- 6:38fail. Being open to letting people
- 6:41into those parts of your heart. That is what biblical
- 6:45discipleship is. Real life, real, authentic
- 6:48Christ, sharing relationships and disciple.
- 6:50Discipleship isn't just about walking with someone in the good
- 6:53moments. It's especially about walking
- 6:56with them in the hard ones too. That is where I've seen just
- 6:59incredible connections and and incredible fruit from
- 7:02discipleship in my life. When I have walked with people
- 7:07not just in the good moments in my life, but especially in the
- 7:10hard and the bad and in the and in the mess, that is where I see
- 7:14the depth grow. That is where I see the other
- 7:17person maybe get to a place of them also now starting to share
- 7:20beneath the surface with me. We have to be the initiators of
- 7:26of confession, of honesty, of repentance, of stepping into the
- 7:30vulnerable with people 'cause vulnerability creates
- 7:32relatability with them that now they're more willing to even
- 7:35speak about some of the things. Not all the time, but I'm saying
- 7:39how are you expecting them to step into that space with you if
- 7:42you don't welcome them into that with it with your own self?
- 7:47Walking, Walking into this welcome stage of discipleship
- 7:49with people is letting them into the cloudy days, the stormy
- 7:52seasons. This is where you get into the
- 7:55trenches together, that you're not just talking it, but you're
- 7:58walking it out with one another. And that's where real
- 8:01discipleship looks like. It's not clean, it's not
- 8:04perfect, it's not always easy. It's choosing to be present and
- 8:08it's choosing to be purposeful. It's choosing to stay even when
- 8:12it would be easier to step back. That's the piece I will touch on
- 8:17in this especially. We are so quick to bounce out,
- 8:21to run away, to say, man, that's just too much.
- 8:23They're too much and we don't stick it out.
- 8:27We're not. As God describes himself, He is
- 8:31slow to anger that He is. He is abounding in love and
- 8:35faithfulness. God is patient with us and He is
- 8:40kind with us through His patience and we are called to be
- 8:44representatives of Him. We are called to reflect Him and
- 8:48his patience and his long-suffering.
- 8:50And so my challenge to you would be, especially when it comes to
- 8:54discipleship, why I used earlier love with no strings attached,
- 8:58serve in a way that's not for you.
- 9:01Too many times we step into relationships and for us, we're
- 9:05thinking about what we can get out of it, that what does this
- 9:08person provide for me? Listen, our inner circle, the
- 9:13people who are closest to us, as I've worded this many times, to
- 9:17the young adults in my life when I'm teaching and preaching this,
- 9:20our inner circle should be cup fillers, not cup drainers.
- 9:23Meaning the people that I do life with the the the most that
- 9:28are speaking into my life, that I am intimately involved in,
- 9:31that I call my best friends. They should be cup fillers.
- 9:35When I'm around them, they're filling me up that they're
- 9:37pointing me to Jesus, that they're leading me closer to
- 9:39him, that they're calling me up, that they are not people who are
- 9:43just yes, people, but they're people who will speak God's
- 9:46truth to me even in times where I don't want to hear it.
- 9:49They fill me up. They lead me closer to Jesus.
- 9:51They help me reflect him more in my life.
- 9:53Those are the people who are closest to me.
- 9:55It should not be people that when you hang out with them, you
- 9:57leave and being like exhausted spiritually and you feel like,
- 10:00my goodness, that was a lot like they drain you.
- 10:04They exhaust you. That never should be your inner
- 10:07circle people, the people you listen to most and do life with.
- 10:11But what we're talking about is discipleship.
- 10:14This isn't anything to do with what I'm getting out of it.
- 10:17This is who I'm called to be. I'm called to be a person now
- 10:22that reaches others for Jesus, that puts away my comfort, what
- 10:28I want for the sake of the gospel.
- 10:30I love it. I'll say it again.
- 10:31I said it last episode, Paul to the Jew, I became a Jew, to the
- 10:34Greek, I became a Greek all for the sake of the Gospel.
- 10:37Paul said, listen, I don't culturally do those things that
- 10:41I know I have found freedom in Jesus, that I don't have to obey
- 10:45all of the Old Testament law or do all these things.
- 10:47But you know what, when I'm around the Jewish people, they
- 10:49still have customs and traditions and culture things
- 10:52that they do. As long as it's not disobeying
- 10:54Christ's law over my life and who I'm called to be in Jesus,
- 10:57as long as it's not sinning against God, I'll step into that
- 11:00space with them. I'll eat the food they're eating
- 11:02or not eat the food that they're eating, that I will, you know,
- 11:05step into their traditions for the sake of the gospel because
- 11:09I'm meeting them where they're at.
- 11:11Paul had a heart of it's not about me, it's about Jesus.
- 11:16It's about the Kingdom. He's thinking about eternity.
- 11:18So when we think about discipleship, your heart posture
- 11:22has to be Kingdom first, not you first, not your comfort, not
- 11:26what you want out of it. You are a servant, A
- 11:30bondservant, as Scripture says, of the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 11:33So I will go where he wants me to go and I will love people
- 11:36with no strings attached because that's how he loves me, that his
- 11:39love over me will now overflow to those around me.
- 11:43So discipleship relationships is I'm stepping into them for the
- 11:46sake of the gospel, not for my comfort, not for my wants, not
- 11:50for my desires, not for someone that I really want to be friends
- 11:53with. And I hope that they, you know,
- 11:55love me in the way I want to be loved and show up for me.
- 11:57It's not about something that I'm getting out of it, it's for
- 12:00Christ. And I don't mean that in a way
- 12:02that you can't also build a relationship with somebody
- 12:05through discipleship. Of course you can.
- 12:07I'm just saying our heart posture and our lens should not
- 12:10be through the view of, oh, I want a friend that is going to
- 12:14be the friend that I need and I want.
- 12:16And what I get out of this friendship, no discipleship, is
- 12:19I'm stepping into the mess with somebody for Jesus.
- 12:23Then I'm going to walk with someone, even though it gets
- 12:24exhausting at times. I'm doing this for the sake of
- 12:27the gospel. But again, still with boundaries
- 12:29in place, I still have my inner circle.
- 12:31I still have people that I really do life with and counsel
- 12:34me and pour into me again, somebody who's also discipling
- 12:38me so that I can disciple others.
- 12:40We cannot function in discipleship from a place of
- 12:44empty that we can't our well. Our well cannot be empty or
- 12:48there's nothing to then pour out.
- 12:49So again, we have to be intentional that we're being
- 12:51filled up by God and we have brothers and sisters who are in
- 12:54our life speaking into our life and discipling us as well.
- 12:59This is this isn't the kind of relationship where we just are
- 13:04looking to have something that we get out of it.
- 13:08And I just want to encourage you guys that when you step into
- 13:11this also it's OK for you to establish, you know, frameworks
- 13:18and expectations with each other as well that this is something
- 13:21that, you know, we want to be a two way St. in the sense of the
- 13:26hope of they're getting out of it.
- 13:54And just when we think about Jesus as the model for
- 13:57discipleship, Jesus showed us Jesus didn't teach from a
- 14:01distance. He lived life with his
- 14:03disciples. He walked with them, ate with
- 14:05them, travelled with them, cried with them, corrected them.
- 14:08He loved them. And one of the most powerful
- 14:11moments was when he washed their feet.
- 14:14And then he said, I have given you an example to follow.
- 14:17Do as I have done to you. That's leadership.
- 14:21That's discipleship, leading by example.
- 14:25So if we want to be more like Jesus, we don't just tell people
- 14:28how we live, we show them we live it out.
- 14:31We are an example of Christ to them.
- 14:34Let people into your life. Let them see your walk with God.
- 14:37Let them see your struggles and how you bring them to Jesus.
- 14:41Let them see your faith in real time.
- 14:44Because when you let people in, you're not just letting them see
- 14:47you, you are letting them see the Savior who lives inside of
- 14:51you. That's a powerful thing that we
- 14:54get to be a part of with other people.
- 14:57But let's be real, this stage, it's hard because people are
- 15:00messy, people are broken, people can be difficult.
- 15:03And if we're honest, so are we. We are difficult.
- 15:06I am difficult. I'm hard to be around at times.
- 15:10That's why welcoming people into your life requires 3 things.
- 15:14Patience, perseverance, and persistence.
- 15:18Remember those three things? Stepping in a discipleship and
- 15:22especially the stage of welcoming them into your life.
- 15:25You're going to have to be patient, you're going to have to
- 15:28persevere, and you're going to have to be persistent.
- 15:30What is it? What do I mean by patience?
- 15:33First, patience means understanding that people aren't
- 15:36perfect. They're going to have flaws,
- 15:38they're going to have struggles. They're going to have moments
- 15:41where they frustrate you. But God is patient with us, so
- 15:46now we reflect that same patience to others that we have
- 15:51been forgiven of much, so we also forgive others.
- 15:53We are patient with other people because God is patient with us.
- 15:59And what does it mean to be perseverance in these
- 16:01discipleship relationships? Perseverance means you don't
- 16:04give up when things get difficult.
- 16:05You don't just tap out and bounce out.
- 16:07When conversations get awkward, when growth feels slow, when
- 16:11challenges come up. You don't run the other way, you
- 16:14stay in it. You persevere in these
- 16:16relationships that you are not just trying to make an outcome
- 16:21come the way you want it to or the timing you want it to.
- 16:24You're just being a part of God's story, God's plan.
- 16:27And sometimes it might look like you are just a blip on their
- 16:31timeline, that God put you in their life for this season.
- 16:35You might not be in it forever, but God used you to maybe plant
- 16:38the seed or God's using you to water the seed that somebody
- 16:41else might see the fruit of your labor.
- 16:45But you guys did it together. This is the part of the body of
- 16:48Christ I can't say to the hand, I don't need you or the eye, I
- 16:51don't need you. We need one another because it
- 16:53might be you might be the one that planted the seed of faith
- 16:56for that certain individual and you discipled them, but then
- 16:58they left your community or left your church and then they went
- 17:01somewhere else. And there was another person who
- 17:03watered that seed of faith that God used you to plant.
- 17:06But then guess what, ultimately God is the one who will grow
- 17:11that seed in their life. They'll bring them to a fullness
- 17:14of salvation. That is what only He can do.
- 17:19So we are just parts of 1 body. We are heavenly family.
- 17:23That is all being utilized by God for His plans and His
- 17:27purposes. And so you just persevere.
- 17:30Don't give up, don't get frustrated, don't run the other
- 17:33way. Persevere in these
- 17:34relationships, but also be persistent and persistence.
- 17:38This one is huge. This means I'm not giving up on
- 17:41you. Even when it's hard, even when
- 17:42it feels one sided, even when I feel like pulling away.
- 17:45I'm choosing to stay. I'm choosing to pursue.
- 17:48I'm choosing this relationship. That's what it looks like to
- 17:51love like Christ. God pursues us daily.
- 17:55God leaves the 99 for the one. And I think this is something
- 17:59that we can do a better job of reflecting like Christ, that we
- 18:03don't just bounce out when things get tough, but that we
- 18:07are persistent in the way we run after people And that we love
- 18:11people and that we meet them where they're at.
- 18:13That we go into their homes, that we welcome them into our
- 18:15homes. That we are patient, we
- 18:18persevere, and we're persistent in these discipleship
- 18:21relationships. And let me say this.
- 18:23Let me add a little caveat. You also need to be praying
- 18:28through and listening to the Holy Spirit 'cause I'm speaking
- 18:31these broad categories. And some of you may be listening
- 18:34right now and going, yeah, but like, what if this person
- 18:37started to become toxic or unhealthy or felt more
- 18:41burdensome or felt all these things?
- 18:43Should I keep being presented that?
- 18:44I just want to speak that real quick 'cause I don't want to
- 18:46leave you there. We all who have put our faith in
- 18:51Jesus have the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit speaks Christ's
- 18:53truth to us and we seek discernment from Him.
- 18:56I would encourage you to seek counsel in that area that people
- 19:00who know you and do life with you, who are more involved than
- 19:03I am as someone you're connecting to through this
- 19:06podcast, I would I would encourage you to pray through
- 19:10that because God also isn't going to keep you somewhere
- 19:13that's not where you're supposed to be.
- 19:16I always use this as an example, and I know some people can use
- 19:18this and run with it in an unhealthy way, but I mean this
- 19:21in a way when you're in a predicament where, yeah, I don't
- 19:24feel like God's telling me to keep staying persistent in this
- 19:28and persevering this and patient in this.
- 19:30I think I, my energy now is, is being LED elsewhere because I've
- 19:35poured in here and nothing's changing.
- 19:37This person's just continue to be combative that they don't
- 19:40want to hear me say anything about Jesus.
- 19:42What does that look like? And so I think there's a lot of
- 19:45specific scenarios to have these conversations with.
- 19:48I've had conversations with young adults through all of
- 19:50these. One who is asking me about this,
- 19:53about a friend who they've been friends with for their whole
- 19:55life and that they're always going to hang out with.
- 19:57So do I keep bringing up Jesus? Do I keep trying to talk to them
- 19:59even though they don't want me to?
- 20:00Like, or you have someone who's like, yeah, this is my Co
- 20:02worker. I don't really know like that,
- 20:03but I've stepped into this, you know, discipleship relationship.
- 20:06I've invited them and I've invited them into a relationship
- 20:09with me and I'm welcoming them into my life.
- 20:10But I'm trying to be patient. I'm trying to persevere.
- 20:13I'm trying to be persistent. But like they do not want me to
- 20:16talk about it anymore. All of the above I'll use.
- 20:21I'll answer that in two two ways #1 Jesus when he tells the
- 20:25disciples in Matthew tend to now go into the towns of Jewish
- 20:28people to tell them the Gospel message to to repent and and
- 20:33believe in him. He says there's going to be some
- 20:36who are not going to want to hear your message.
- 20:38They're not going to give you a place to stay.
- 20:40They're not going to want to receive what you have.
- 20:44You wipe the dust of the town off of you and leave that.
- 20:49You don't even let the dust of that town stay on you.
- 20:51That you completely turn away and bounce out because they do
- 20:55not want what God is trying to bring to them, which is the life
- 20:59changing message of the gospel. And so there are certain
- 21:03scenarios where I believe God is calling you elsewhere in that
- 21:07you are pouring into someone or something that is not where God
- 21:11wants you to be anymore because they've clearly said I don't
- 21:14want this. And so there is situations where
- 21:17that is happening or could be happening for you.
- 21:20But I would also say there is many times where I think we're
- 21:25quick to want to bounce out of a situation because it's tough.
- 21:29Where I would say to you again, what I brought up before, are
- 21:34you only stepping into discipleship relationships for
- 21:36what you get out of it or just because it's you being who
- 21:42Christ caused you to be. And so if it's because it's who
- 21:46Christ caused you to be and that we aren't always going to be
- 21:49comfortable and always have, you know, always want to do what we
- 21:55want to do. I would also just challenge you
- 21:58on that. Is this something you're wanting
- 22:01to step away from? Because it is tough because I'm
- 22:03having to show up for somebody and I'm having to love them even
- 22:06though they keep messing up and keep choosing the sin and keep
- 22:09doing things. But they are still saying to
- 22:11you, I want to, I want to know God more.
- 22:13I want to be more of who God calls me to be.
- 22:15I would also encourage you that you are messy too, that you are
- 22:19a Sinner just like them, that you have your faults.
- 22:22And I and I hope that you don't just run away from somebody
- 22:26because it becomes tough, that you don't realize what God can
- 22:30do within the mess, that our love can cover a multitude of
- 22:35sins for one another. So I would encourage you to also
- 22:38be like Christ in the way that you love people and are patient
- 22:42with them and persevere and are persistent in those
- 22:44relationships as well. So pray through that, seek the
- 22:47wisdom from the Holy Spirit and the discernment from him, but
- 22:50also through people in your life who counsel you, who you, who
- 22:54disciple you and pour into you. So let's get back to it.
- 22:58So when you look at the early church, this is exactly how they
- 23:02live. They didn't just meet once a
- 23:03week and go home. They did life together.
- 23:06They shared meals, they spent time in each other's homes.
- 23:08They encouraged one another consistently.
- 23:12They welcomed each other fully into their lives.
- 23:14And that's how discipleship grew.
- 23:17It was Monday through Sunday. Faith lived out in a community
- 23:22together. So let's make this real for your
- 23:24life this week. You already thought of someone
- 23:27in Episode 1. That was my homework assignment
- 23:29for you. And now here's your next step.
- 23:32Welcome them and here's how you do that.
- 23:35Continue praying for them daily. But now take it a step further.
- 23:40Invite them to share a meal with you this week and sit across
- 23:44from them at a table. Put your phones away, eliminate
- 23:49distractions and be present with them.
- 23:52Get to know them, really know them, because Jesus made meals a
- 23:57huge part of his ministry, and we should too.
- 24:01Sitting around a table with no distractions and just talking
- 24:06with people doing that around a meal is a biblical thing.
- 24:10It's pretty crazy to think about, right?
- 24:13Jesus sat around the table and ate meals with people and life
- 24:19change happened. People encountered the living
- 24:22God around a table around a dinner.
- 24:26And so we should also be willing to sit at the table with people
- 24:31to get around with one another, to just be with each other in
- 24:35our homes. And it's pretty crazy, but God
- 24:38can do some incredible things around the dining room table.
- 24:42And so I'd encourage you to take that step further if God put
- 24:47that one person on your heart to now welcome them into your life,
- 24:51to get around a table, to share a meal together.
- 24:53I just want to encourage you don't overthink this.
- 24:56It doesn't have to be perfect. It just has to be intentional
- 24:59because discipleship doesn't happen by accident.
- 25:03It happens on purpose because we worship a God of purpose and
- 25:07listen, this might feel uncomfortable for my for my
- 25:09introverts might feel uncomfortable like me and Pastor
- 25:12Love's man. I don't know if I want to
- 25:14welcome people into my life. I really like to chill and be by
- 25:17myself. I don't really that that seems
- 25:19like that's going to take a lot of energy.
- 25:22You're right. It's going to it's going to cost
- 25:24something. It's going to cause some
- 25:26comfort. It's going to cost some of your
- 25:28time. It's going to cost some of your
- 25:29resources. It's going to cost some of your
- 25:31energy. But this is who Christ calls us
- 25:34to be. And just understand it's OK.
- 25:36You might not know what to say. You might feel like you're not
- 25:39ready, but you don't have to have everything figured out to
- 25:42start doing life with people. Just be willing.
- 25:45Just be available and just say yes.
- 25:48There's so many people who are lonely and lost in this world
- 25:52who are just looking for someone to say, hey, you want to come
- 25:56share a meal with me? You want to come sit at my
- 25:58dining room table? You want to come hang out?
- 26:00You want to go grocery shopping? You want to go walk in the park.
- 26:03They're just looking for someone who's willing and available and
- 26:06ready to say yes and to welcome them into your life.
- 26:09So I love you guys. I hope that this becomes real to
- 26:14you. This isn't just words you're
- 26:15hearing on a podcast, that this impacts your heart, that it
- 26:19stirs a fire within you to start to truly live out what it means
- 26:24to be a disciple of Christ and to be a disciple maker for
- 26:26Christ. I love you guys.
- 26:28Let's pray so we can get up out of here.
- 26:32Heavenly Father, thank you. Thank you for the way you are
- 26:36involved in every detail of our lives.
- 26:39Thank you for welcoming us into a relationship with you and help
- 26:43us become people who welcome others into our lives.
- 26:47Give us patience, give us perseverance.
- 26:49Give us persistence. Use us as a light for you.
- 26:53We are yours now and forever. In Jesus name, Amen.
- 26:59If this episode challenged y'all, share it with someone and
- 27:03don't just listen, live it in. Next episode we're going even
- 27:08deeper. So until then, until then, let's
- 27:13keep becoming more like Jesus. I love y'all, God bless.
