- 0:00Speaker 1: Enough is enough! I have had enough!
- 0:05Speaker 2: Why so serious?
- 0:08Speaker 3: And we hold the world ransom for Wayne Gandy.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Excuse me while I whip this out. Show me. Broadcasting
- 0:16Speaker 1: live in Atlanta, Georgia. This, this is the Sports Chalk
- 0:20Speaker 1: Show with Wayne Gandy.
- 0:23Speaker 2: You may build me up.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Build me up, yeah. Yeah, you build me up, yeah.
- 0:28Speaker 1: But you won't break me down.
- 0:30Speaker 4: I've come too far.
- 0:31Speaker 1: I'm too far, yeah. Yeah, I've come too far, yeah.
- 0:34Speaker 1: So just throw in the towel. Hey, hey, hey, hey.
- 0:37Speaker 1: It's a new day.
- 0:37Speaker 5: I'm a, I'm a doobie.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm going to go all the way. Welcome, welcome, welcome!
- 0:46Speaker 1: You're listening to the Sports Shock Show. I am the
- 0:48Speaker 1: Sports Shock, Wayne Gandy. Good morning to you out there
- 0:52Speaker 1: in listening land. Pull the razor blade back. Just week one.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Pump the brakes. Slow down. Slow down. I keep telling you,
- 1:04Speaker 1: it's a long season. Some of y'all are already burning jerseys.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Going to be okay. Got to give it some time.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Falcons falling in Pittsburgh. Dallas falling in New York. I
- 1:23Speaker 1: didn't watch the Jets game, so y'all know I don't
- 1:26Speaker 1: lie to you. So you didn't see anybody win? I
- 1:29Speaker 1: don't know. Who did they play? The team they beat? Oh,
- 1:34Speaker 1: they won. Yes, they did. Let me see. It had
- 1:37Speaker 1: to be one of them soft teams. Soft. With a tuck. Oh,
- 1:42Speaker 1: the Titans. Yeah, it was a soft team. But a
- 1:46Speaker 1: win is a win. You can only play who on
- 1:48Speaker 1: your schedule. You can only play the people on your schedule.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Cam Ward, I'm sure, gifted a touchdown. I don't even
- 1:55Speaker 1: have to look at the stats. I know he gave
- 1:57Speaker 1: somebody the gift. He's a giver. Some people, you know,
- 2:01Speaker 1: they can't help it.
- 2:02Speaker 6: Right.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Christmas come around, they need to buy toys for somebody. Somebody. Somebody.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Not even Karen. Hey, how you doing? I see you, young.
- 2:12Speaker 1: But it's been a while since I had the crew on.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Everybody's back. Comanche Greg, hair wrap, bad producer, rocking his Falcons,
- 2:22Speaker 1: the Jets winning. We got two old school pimps in here.
- 2:25Speaker 1: For sure. Hanging out with us today and Bo and Will.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Representing Jackson State. The other representing Virginia State. So, somebody
- 2:40Speaker 1: out there, give us a shout out if you went
- 2:41Speaker 1: to either one of those universities. I know Bo has been,
- 2:45Speaker 1: was having fun when Dion was there. But he hasn't
- 2:51Speaker 1: really talked, you know, a lot of people. And people forget,
- 2:53Speaker 1: Jackson State still has been winning. Still has been winning.
- 2:56Speaker 7: Thank you.
- 2:57Speaker 1: And that was some of the things. I always will
- 3:00Speaker 1: go back when the Alabama State coach was telling Deion
- 3:04Speaker 1: he wasn't swag. I don't know that he was trying
- 3:06Speaker 1: to put down. He was just really calling us out
- 3:09Speaker 1: as fans. Like, y'all act like we just got here.
- 3:14Speaker 1: And then they went back to the same kind of anonymous.
- 3:19Speaker 1: They play ball, but if... The spectacle is not there.
- 3:23Speaker 1: We don't seem to care. So we have to wait
- 3:25Speaker 1: till like Antonio Brown become a head coach. And then
- 3:29Speaker 1: I guess everybody. We in trouble. Oh, he'll bring more
- 3:33Speaker 1: flavor to it than prime. No, but at least one
- 3:37Speaker 1: felony will happen. Football, HBCU is in trouble if they
- 3:40Speaker 1: had to go to Antonio Brown. And with Antonio Brown,
- 3:43Speaker 1: I was reading the story. Should you be able to
- 3:46Speaker 1: opt out that somebody shot at you?
- 3:50Speaker 8: Hey, they got all kind of options now.
- 3:57Speaker 1: I don't think that you should be off of that.
- 3:59Speaker 1: I don't think the person that got shot at should
- 4:03Speaker 1: have the right to pull that back. No, I don't
- 4:06Speaker 1: want a personal charge. Yeah, that's out of your hand.
- 4:10Speaker 1: I mean, you know. But hasn't it always been like that?
- 4:12Speaker 7: Listen, I'm not judging because I'm just saying we've all
- 4:15Speaker 7: been shot at.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Am I right?
- 4:16Speaker 9: No.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Am I right? You've got to go first. We've all
- 4:18Speaker 1: been shot at. No, no, not at all. Not at all.
- 4:22Speaker 1: I'm saying. Gun pulled but not shot at. Well, I'm
- 4:25Speaker 1: just saying. Two different things. My guy followed through. I'm
- 4:29Speaker 1: just saying. I don't think it was personal. He was
- 4:33Speaker 1: just trying to complete, you know, his little task. But
- 4:37Speaker 1: that's the American system. But in the Antonio Brown case
- 4:41Speaker 1: that he was being charged with, remember he ran off
- 4:44Speaker 1: to Dubai? Yeah, but. That case last week, the gentleman
- 4:49Speaker 1: was trying to say in reflection.
- 4:53Speaker 7: And it's $ 30 million. Listen, listen now.
- 4:57Speaker 1: In reflection, I don't think he should be punished. For
- 5:00Speaker 1: shooting at me. For shooting at me.
- 5:01Speaker 8: Well, why didn't he just say that maybe he wasn't
- 5:04Speaker 8: the right person? That's not the person he thought this
- 5:07Speaker 8: shot at.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Now, see. Now you want the man to lie. Right. No, no, no, no, no, no.
- 5:12Speaker 7: Listen, that is having filed that report and then saying
- 5:17Speaker 7: I was mistaken as perjury or something like that or
- 5:20Speaker 7: false report.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Now, the only thing that A.B. may be dealing with
- 5:25Speaker 1: now is having fled. Because you recanted your story. Hey,
- 5:30Speaker 1: I don't think he ought to. I don't think he
- 5:32Speaker 1: was really trying to hurt me. He just had a
- 5:34Speaker 1: bad day. You can do that in the American system.
- 5:38Speaker 1: And had AB turned himself in and dude said, hey.
- 5:42Speaker 1: But the DA can keep the case and try to
- 5:45Speaker 1: win it without you. Well, they can do that. Because
- 5:49Speaker 1: you discharged a weapon in a public place.
- 5:51Speaker 8: Yeah, they can get them on for shooting a gun
- 5:53Speaker 8: in a public place.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Now, the attempted murder part, they're going to have to
- 5:57Speaker 1: let that go. No, you attempted the murder. You attempted
- 6:04Speaker 1: the murder. We saw it on video, and we determined
- 6:07Speaker 1: now we can lose the case, but we are filing
- 6:10Speaker 1: that you tried to kill this man. This man... Testifying
- 6:14Speaker 1: of the threat doesn't matter.
- 6:16Speaker 7: Yeah, because a lot of times in organized crime cases, people...
- 6:24Speaker 7: say that it wasn't what they thought in the first
- 6:26Speaker 7: place all the time.
- 6:28Speaker 1: So they found a way to go around. But in
- 6:31Speaker 1: this case, I have a video. So you recant canning,
- 6:34Speaker 1: but the video didn't. No, it's a little grainy. That's
- 6:38Speaker 1: what I'm saying. It's not 1080K. It's not me. That
- 6:43Speaker 1: look a little bit like me. That look a little
- 6:45Speaker 1: bit like me.
- 6:46Speaker 7: I'm saying, I ain't saying that's me, but it look
- 6:48Speaker 7: a little bit like me with a gun in my hand.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Well, you know, the four shock sensibilities, I think people
- 6:53Speaker 1: need to go to jail. So there is no forgiveness.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Wrong is wrong. You should not be out here shooting
- 7:02Speaker 1: at people, period. This is a bad sign. This is
- 7:06Speaker 1: not petty larceny. This isn't a 15-year-old kid kicking over
- 7:13Speaker 1: my mailbox and I told him if he fix it back,
- 7:16Speaker 1: I'll drop it. That's not this. Those are two different things.
- 7:19Speaker 1: I don't think that felony gun charges... Things like rape
- 7:24Speaker 1: get to be pulled off the table because the witness
- 7:27Speaker 1: didn't show up. If the witness lied, that's one thing.
- 7:33Speaker 1: But if the witness was paid off or just now
- 7:36Speaker 1: for whatever reason want to change their story, that shouldn't
- 7:41Speaker 1: be allowed. I know you scheme to think that is cool.
- 7:46Speaker 1: I'm not saying that. But this is a bad precedent.
- 7:49Speaker 1: I just don't know. we live in this country that
- 7:52Speaker 1: confuses me are we trying to be better people or
- 7:55Speaker 1: are we just trying to get around the law they're
- 8:00Speaker 1: using the system I'm not judging because we didn't all
- 8:04Speaker 1: fall to federal gun charge am I right am I
- 8:07Speaker 1: right We done all fought federal. All of us. Not
- 8:13Speaker 1: a federal. One time. One time.
- 8:15Speaker 10: No.
- 8:15Speaker 1: No. Okay. Me neither. Me neither. That was all the
- 8:19Speaker 1: interesting thing with that, Antonio Brown. Now, the man has
- 8:23Speaker 1: recanted his story. No, he didn't recant it. He just
- 8:25Speaker 1: said he forgives him. And he doesn't want to come
- 8:29Speaker 1: to court. It seemed like he would say that as sentencing.
- 8:32Speaker 1: So he's not trying to say Antonio didn't do what
- 8:34Speaker 1: he did. He just said, man, y'all ought to let
- 8:36Speaker 1: that slide. Correct. Okay.
- 8:39Speaker 8: Well, you should have let it slide when I shot it.
- 8:41Speaker 8: You should have been trying to get my chain.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Listen, listen. That's what A.B. said he was shooting at.
- 8:45Speaker 7: It is the premise that I always present here. When
- 8:49Speaker 7: you crack the door a little bit, you think your preference,
- 8:53Speaker 7: your accepted, whatever it is, is allowed through, and you
- 8:57Speaker 7: think that's going to be it. You never know what
- 8:59Speaker 7: you're opening up the door to. So we live in
- 9:02Speaker 7: a country where we allow people the system to be
- 9:06Speaker 7: manipulated or anything, why wouldn't you do it for this?
- 9:11Speaker 7: That's all I'm saying. Why wouldn't people sell themselves out
- 9:14Speaker 7: for money for far less things?
- 9:17Speaker 1: So why wouldn't you do it for this? And that's
- 9:20Speaker 1: what you get. You get a manipulated court system where
- 9:23Speaker 1: I can lick shots at you in the middle of
- 9:25Speaker 1: somebody filming me and then kick my feet up in
- 9:28Speaker 1: Dubai and then still get off. America, America. Stand up,
- 9:35Speaker 1: put your hand on your heart, take your hat off,
- 9:38Speaker 1: and salute the flag. If you're looking for a country
- 9:42Speaker 1: of freedom, this it. Don King made me a believer.
- 9:44Speaker 1: This it right here. This it. And that, to me,
- 9:48Speaker 1: speaks volumes of why the system is broken. The people
- 9:53Speaker 1: are broken. People are severely broken. Anything with people involved
- 9:57Speaker 1: is going to be flawed. You're okay to buy out
- 9:59Speaker 1: of this, but when somebody else buys out of something,
- 10:01Speaker 1: we want to condemn them. There it is. There it is.
- 10:05Speaker 1: I don't get it. But the bad producers in the building,
- 10:12Speaker 1: you guys have a good weekend.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Yes, sir.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Good morning. Big Kenny, you have a show? I had
- 10:15Speaker 1: a great weekend. No, no, didn't. Bad producer, you had
- 10:17Speaker 1: a refereeing gig? Oh, no, sir.
- 10:19Speaker 8: I was out in the conference for the last, what's
- 10:23Speaker 8: the same one, from Wednesday until the weekend.
- 10:25Speaker 1: The KKK conference? Uh-oh. Uh-oh. MAGA.
- 10:28Speaker 11: MAGA.
- 10:29Speaker 1: 336.
- 10:29Speaker 8: If you ever see that 336 number area code, yeah,
- 10:32Speaker 8: they came from that part of North Carolina.
- 10:34Speaker 5: So.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Oh, okay. So that's y'all code, 366? No, the three.
- 10:40Speaker 1: I think that might be devil worship. The three sixes.
- 10:43Speaker 1: I said three, three, six. That known area is known.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Threes and sixes all in that sequential. Grand Wizards have
- 10:50Speaker 1: been known to be crowned in that area. Well, we
- 10:52Speaker 1: have a great show for you today. We're going to
- 10:53Speaker 1: talk about the great Derrick Henry and the job Lamar
- 10:56Speaker 1: Jackson and the Ravens did yesterday. Team USA, the women,
- 11:02Speaker 1: Jackie Young, stalling out. Kaitlyn Clark. I watched the game, Jackie.
- 11:08Speaker 1: The viewers are right. You wouldn't pass the ball. Don't
- 11:11Speaker 1: try that like they made that stuff up. I literally
- 11:14Speaker 1: was thinking the same thing I woke up the next
- 11:16Speaker 1: day to see a clip of, you know, that you
- 11:19Speaker 1: wouldn't pass her the ball. Comanche Griggs, Cowboys fail. So,
- 11:23Speaker 1: you know, you got to always talk about that. The
- 11:25Speaker 1: Falcons did not fly high. At all. But they did fight.
- 11:30Speaker 1: I will give them that yesterday. With windmill, with the windmill.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Kyler Murray at a new home, but still hurt to
- 11:37Speaker 1: a Tagliola heart. Must be back, shipped back to Hawaii. Falcons,
- 11:42Speaker 1: go ahead on and cut to them. No. Tua don't
- 11:44Speaker 1: want to play no football. He don't want to play
- 11:47Speaker 1: one drop of football. He just want that check that
- 11:50Speaker 1: the Dolphins are on. Smile. Looked like he brushed his
- 11:54Speaker 1: teeth three times yesterday for the game. Sit on the sideline.
- 11:58Speaker 7: Getting paid to sit on the sideline to make you
- 12:00Speaker 7: feel that. We do that a lot here. It'll make
- 12:02Speaker 7: you happy. We love paying people on the sideline. We'll
- 12:04Speaker 7: be back with more of the Sports Talk show right
- 12:06Speaker 7: after this.
- 12:08Speaker 10: Don't go away.
- 12:14Speaker 9: More of the Sports Jock Show with Wayne Gamby is
- 12:21Speaker 9: coming up.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Next.
- 12:25Speaker 12: Returning military vets. They've served our country at home and abroad.
- 12:29Speaker 12: They've slept in tanks, foxholes, and even out in the weather.
- 12:33Speaker 12: They've had our backs.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Now back. We have theirs. The Sports Chalk Man of Honor, Mr.

- 13:22Speaker 13: Talking about guns with others might not always feel comfortable,
- 13:25Speaker 13: but it could save a life. Here's a way to
- 13:27Speaker 13: start a conversation. Your family is going over to your
- 13:30Speaker 13: neighbor's home for dinner for the first time. How would
- 13:32Speaker 13: you ask if there are any unlocked guns in the home?
- 13:35Speaker 6: Hey!
- 13:35Speaker 1: Hey, we're so excited for tonight. Before we come over, though,
- 13:38Speaker 1: may I ask if there are any unlocked guns in
- 13:41Speaker 1: your home?
- 13:41Speaker 14: Our guns are stored securely, locked in a safe that
- 13:44Speaker 14: the kids can't access.
- 13:46Speaker 5: Awesome.
- 13:47Speaker 13: Learn how to have the conversation at agree2agree. org. Brought to
- 13:50Speaker 13: you by the Ad Council.
- 13:52Speaker 14: Don't act like that. Don't wear that. Don't think that.
- 13:57Speaker 14: I've heard everything you tell yourself every time you felt different.
- 14:01Speaker 14: And I want you to know that you can be
- 14:03Speaker 14: vulnerable and powerful. That taking care of your mind is
- 14:09Speaker 14: taking care of everyone you love and who loves you.
- 14:13Speaker 14: Love your mind.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Find mental health resources at loveyourmindtoday.org. Brought to you by
- 14:20Speaker 1: the Huntsman Mental Health Institute and the Ad Council. And now,
- 14:25Speaker 1: back to the Sports Jock, Wayne Gandy.

- 14:33Speaker 12: sleep you deserve at a price you can afford. Now,
- 14:37Speaker 12: it's time to present the Jock of the Day on
- 14:39Speaker 12: the Sports Jock Show.
- 14:40Speaker 15: He's taken it to a completely different level this year.
- 14:43Speaker 12: Where we highlight an athlete that has taken their game
- 14:46Speaker 12: to the next level.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Bro, this bone, you got six minutes on that jack, kid.
- 14:53Speaker 1: This is real.
- 14:54Speaker 2: Yo, yo, yo, yo, yo.
- 14:55Speaker 7: Yo, check this out, man.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Yo, God, give me a cigarette, man.
- 14:57Speaker 16: Yo, here you go, here you go, here you go.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Check it out, man. Check out what I got here, man.
- 15:01Speaker 1: What is that?
- 15:02Speaker 6: What?
- 15:04Speaker 10: Welcome back to the Sports Talk Show.
- 15:11Speaker 1: I'm the Sports Talk Wayne Candy. Good morning on this
- 15:14Speaker 1: beautiful Monday morning. Glad to be here with you. Week
- 15:17Speaker 1: one will officially be in the books after tonight's game.
- 15:23Speaker 1: And once again, the Chiefs will be hosting the Broncos.
- 15:28Speaker 1: So a big game for both of these teams tonight.
- 15:31Speaker 1: right off of the bat when you look at that
- 15:33Speaker 1: division and teams that people feel could make their way
- 15:38Speaker 1: to L.A. for the Super Bowl. That game is at
- 15:43Speaker 1: 8-15 tonight. Team USA, the women, winning the FIBA championship.
- 15:51Speaker 1: If you didn't get a chance to watch any of it,
- 15:54Speaker 1: I just really am disappointed in Kara Lawson and her
- 15:58Speaker 1: ability to coach Team USA. You seem like you had
- 16:05Speaker 1: this plan that you was going to phase and treat
- 16:09Speaker 1: the young players in a secondary way. And I just
- 16:14Speaker 1: couldn't understand. I didn't understand why you felt like Paige Beckers,
- 16:20Speaker 1: Angel Reese, Caitlin Clark, and that group was only deserving
- 16:26Speaker 1: of eight, nine minutes a game. When the last time
- 16:31Speaker 1: I checked, Angel Reese leads the WNBA in rebounds. Kaitlyn
- 16:36Speaker 1: Clark leads the WNBA in assists. Kaitlyn Clark and Paige
- 16:41Speaker 1: Becker are number three and four in scoring in the WNBA.
- 16:48Speaker 1: So I don't know what other statistic you needed to
- 16:53Speaker 1: have to put them on the court. And you were
- 16:57Speaker 1: regulating them to these spare minutes, like minutes to give
- 17:02Speaker 1: the starting people a break, in a sense. And I
- 17:08Speaker 1: didn't get that whole idea. This is something maybe if
- 17:13Speaker 1: these young ladies were college freshmen, back when Team USA
- 17:19Speaker 1: and all those people would carry a college player on
- 17:22Speaker 1: the team, but As I just said, these are leaders
- 17:27Speaker 1: in the league that all these women play in. And
- 17:33Speaker 1: they were regulated to very scarce minutes to even play.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Just did not like the handling, but they did win
- 17:43Speaker 1: the gold versus France. I want to say that makes
- 17:47Speaker 1: it five in a row that U.S. has won.
- 17:51Speaker 12: But so.
- 17:54Speaker 1: At the end of the day? I want to ask,
- 17:57Speaker 1: Forrest Jock, have you ever dealt with a coach that
- 18:00Speaker 1: you felt like was just on a power trip? Like,
- 18:04Speaker 1: will ignore all conventional wisdom, will downplay the advice of
- 18:10Speaker 1: their assistant coaches in the front office, and just will
- 18:18Speaker 1: deny the talents, obvious talents of players. and just do
- 18:22Speaker 1: what I'm going to do because I can. Yes, I
- 18:26Speaker 1: think that there was a plan made, and regardless of
- 18:30Speaker 1: how the games went, she was managing the game at
- 18:35Speaker 1: that point. I thought the best five were actually on
- 18:38Speaker 1: the bench.
- 18:40Speaker 17: Wow.
- 18:40Speaker 1: I felt like if you put Kaitlyn Clark, Paige Becker,
- 18:44Speaker 1: Ryan Howard, Angel Reese, and Aaliyah Boston in the five,
- 18:48Speaker 1: and they played the other five in the game, They
- 18:52Speaker 1: would win.
- 18:53Speaker 6: 21-0.
- 18:55Speaker 1: They would win. 21-0 every time.
- 18:57Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 18:57Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, and that's not knocking the other ladies. All
- 19:01Speaker 1: of them, somewhere in their career, Breonna Stewart and the Gray,
- 19:07Speaker 1: Jackie Young, Nespessa Collier, all those Hall of Famers to be.
- 19:11Speaker 1: But the five young, what they'd say, young pups over here,
- 19:17Speaker 1: Ron Howard leads the WNBA in three-pointers made.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Well.
- 19:22Speaker 1: Like, As serious an allegation as that is, why do
- 19:27Speaker 1: you think she was just gatekeeping? Why would I not
- 19:31Speaker 1: put my best on the floor? It's almost like she
- 19:35Speaker 1: was treating it like it's the military. Oh, you got
- 19:37Speaker 1: to pay your dues. Like you got to pay some dues.
- 19:40Speaker 1: You have to have some sort of right of passage.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Pay a little debt.
- 19:43Speaker 2: Right.
- 19:45Speaker 1: They have to be... That's how it seemed like he
- 19:47Speaker 1: was handling the game. Yeah. You rooks, y'all still young.
- 19:53Speaker 1: Angel Reese was going into the game with a minute
- 19:56Speaker 1: left in the quarter. So you played a whole quarter
- 20:01Speaker 1: in the leading rebounder? In WNBA.
- 20:05Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Today, today, not, not, not, you know, that, that time
- 20:10Speaker 1: when she was in, when they first started, she right
- 20:13Speaker 1: now snatch more rebounds than in the million dollar era
- 20:16Speaker 1: of the WNBA. She snatched more rebounds than anybody. And well,
- 20:22Speaker 1: and I guess for me that when, when we look
- 20:27Speaker 1: at the NFL and the NBA and they talk about
- 20:29Speaker 1: collusion and investigations and all of these things, you can,
- 20:34Speaker 1: sometimes make the connection. Sometimes they seem to be far-fetched
- 20:38Speaker 1: and wide-stretching. This almost seems to be something that is
- 20:42Speaker 1: like paint the numbers. You see what I'm saying? It
- 20:45Speaker 1: seems so obvious. But again, women's basketball seems to escape
- 20:51Speaker 1: a lot of scrutiny. It seems, I mean, they don't,
- 20:54Speaker 1: a lot of people ain't really tripping on women's basketball
- 20:57Speaker 1: for being inappropriate or having some sort of, violation or
- 21:05Speaker 1: skirting the rules nobody really ever says anything about that
- 21:08Speaker 1: you had with.
- 21:11Speaker 8: The um coming upon us at the wmba playoff still
- 21:15Speaker 8: has they still have to finish the season.
- 21:17Speaker 1: I think they left them they made sure that each
- 21:19Speaker 1: team had about four games okay to finish the season
- 21:23Speaker 1: and i thought that was a good thing so they
- 21:25Speaker 1: could do this and then have time to go back
- 21:27Speaker 1: and get kind of You can't start right back into
- 21:31Speaker 1: the playoffs.
- 21:31Speaker 8: Is there a possibility some of the minutes will be
- 21:34Speaker 8: cut because.
- 21:36Speaker 1: Fear of injury or to finish out the season? No,
- 21:42Speaker 1: it wasn't managed like that. Okay. It was managed truly
- 21:46Speaker 1: in right of like, I like that, right of passage.
- 21:49Speaker 17: Okay.
- 21:50Speaker 1: Like the military. Just wanted to make sure. Okay, like
- 21:53Speaker 1: these are the captains and y'all are first whatever. First mates.
- 21:57Speaker 1: And I'll tell you something. I don't care that you're
- 22:00Speaker 1: second in the league in this. And I think that
- 22:04Speaker 1: the unfortunate part of it is my generation of competitor
- 22:09Speaker 1: and competitiveness has learned to accept that. It's not fair,
- 22:14Speaker 1: but that's just the way it is. And that's why
- 22:17Speaker 1: won't you go through it? We all walked across Hot
- 22:20Speaker 1: Nails with bare feet Why can't you do that? We'll
- 22:24Speaker 1: be back with more of the Sports.
- 22:28Speaker 19: Jock Show right after this.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Don't go away.

- 22:49Speaker 9: coming up next.
- 22:52Speaker 5: As veterans, we're no strangers to helping others. That's what
- 22:55Speaker 5: we were taught, service before self. But we do have
- 22:58Speaker 5: one question for the veterans listening.
- 23:01Speaker 1: When was the last time you reached out for help?
- 23:05Speaker 13: If you or someone you know needs resources, whether it's

- 24:28Speaker 17: using their typewriters. Why should it be any different for
- 24:32Speaker 17: us kids and our cell phones? Distracted driving was the

- 24:41Speaker 17: Let's put down the phones and focus on the roads.
- 24:44Speaker 17: Drive safe, everybody.

- 24:56Speaker 1: And now, back to the sports jar, Wayne Gandy. In
- 25:03Speaker 1: the red zone. Welcome back to the Sports Talk Show.
- 25:28Speaker 1: I'm the Sports Talk Wayne Kennedy. Let's jump into, I
- 25:31Speaker 1: know what you said, we already got a couple of comments.
- 25:34Speaker 1: People bashing the teams already. Yes, Sports Talk, our loyal
- 25:39Speaker 1: online listeners have been commenting from the beginning. So whenever you... Well,
- 25:47Speaker 1: I know you said something about the Falcons. They want
- 25:49Speaker 1: to burn the team already?
- 25:51Speaker 7: Well, they said the Falcons need to cut the whole organization.
- 25:55Speaker 7: That's from our loyal listener, Chef. He said Falcons need
- 25:58Speaker 7: to cut the whole organization. He also agrees that the
- 26:00Speaker 7: system is 100% broken. He's a Detroit Lion fan. Hey, hey, hey, hey,
- 26:04Speaker 7: but they not the Falcons. I don't know how to
- 26:08Speaker 7: put that in the proper perspective, but they aren't the Falcons.
- 26:11Speaker 1: When's the last time Detroit went to the Super Bowl? Hmm.
- 26:16Speaker 1: That never. Never. So one or two years of success.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Say it to the chef. I'm reading the comments. That's why.
- 26:28Speaker 1: I'm reading the comments. Didn't the Lions barely win? They
- 26:34Speaker 1: lost– well, they won because the Saints went for two.
- 26:38Speaker 1: And Elder Casey said, Falcons going to be all right
- 26:40Speaker 1: if y'all don't believe, find another team. Thank you. Hashtag,
- 26:43Speaker 1: I said it. I said it with you. Falcons up
- 26:46Speaker 1: in the Steel City Acris Stadium yesterday. Falcons defensively played
- 26:52Speaker 1: a great game. Only gave up one touchdown. Remember the
- 26:56Speaker 1: other touchdown that was scored.
- 26:57Speaker 22: J.J.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Watt jumped up and dropped. The only thing the Falcons
- 27:02Speaker 1: actually did wrong, for the most part, was in the first.
- 27:06Speaker 1: They should have been running the ball consistently more in
- 27:09Speaker 1: the first. When you get around to your third quarterback,
- 27:15Speaker 1: then the offensive line has to win the game. And
- 27:18Speaker 1: the offensive line, as bad as everybody wants to throw
- 27:22Speaker 1: the blade at Cooper Rush, the offensive line for the
- 27:26Speaker 1: Falcons lost this game by themselves. They had about Six
- 27:32Speaker 1: holding calls. Very little. They gave up four or five
- 27:38Speaker 1: sacks until the second half. They finally got the run game.
- 27:43Speaker 1: But you can't ask Cooper Cup to go in a game.
- 27:48Speaker 1: Cooper Cup wasn't even on the roster. He was on
- 27:52Speaker 1: no one's roster when training camp started. Remember they had...
- 27:57Speaker 1: So I'm telling you how the huddle goes. When we're in...
- 28:02Speaker 1: as a starter. Once you get to the second, then
- 28:05Speaker 1: the rest of us have to go win the game.
- 28:11Speaker 1: Nobody seems, I'm taking you into the huddle. Once the
- 28:16Speaker 1: starter goes down, the other 10 people, the receiver now
- 28:21Speaker 1: has to catch two yard passes and get 12 yards.
- 28:25Speaker 1: The offensive line has to take it. That's what, while
- 28:28Speaker 1: they're over there warming up the second guy, we're hulling up,
- 28:32Speaker 1: talking about how we have to win the game because
- 28:37Speaker 1: the second guy is in. He can't do what the
- 28:43Speaker 1: first guy. So imagine if we on the guy that
- 28:46Speaker 1: wasn't even on a roster.
- 28:48Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 28:50Speaker 1: He wasn't even on the roster now. They called him
- 28:52Speaker 1: the second week. Once Tua was talking about his oblique.
- 28:57Speaker 1: His who? That's what I said. I had to Google
- 28:59Speaker 1: what is an oblique. What's that like your mama third cousin?
- 29:03Speaker 1: That's my oblique cousin. What is an oblique? So that's all.
- 29:07Speaker 1: You have to be able to run the ball. They
- 29:09Speaker 1: did get around to that in the second half. Let
- 29:14Speaker 1: me ask you a question. And a player here, I
- 29:17Speaker 1: wasn't expecting that much of a challenge. But the defensive
- 29:19Speaker 1: line has improved. They got a good secondary. And they just,
- 29:27Speaker 1: you know, hopefully Michael Penix will get back. Let me
- 29:31Speaker 1: ask a question.
- 29:32Speaker 7: Raise your hand right here at the table if you
- 29:35Speaker 7: were surprised that Tua is where he is right now.
- 29:40Speaker 7: From the moment they brought him here, raise your hand
- 29:43Speaker 7: if you're surprised that he's not playing.
- 29:46Speaker 1: I am. I thought he would get knocked out in
- 29:51Speaker 1: the second quarter. I didn't know he was going to
- 29:54Speaker 1: start the whole game from the week of practice. I
- 29:59Speaker 1: thought he was gonna at least go out, hand a
- 30:00Speaker 1: couple of balls off, J.J. Watt was gonna sack him,
- 30:03Speaker 1: and then he was gonna act like he don't know
- 30:06Speaker 1: what city. When they go over there in the dog
- 30:08Speaker 1: to ask him, where are you at? He was gonna say.
- 30:10Speaker 1: He was gonna say something like that. He just went
- 30:12Speaker 1: on and conceded I know my body. And I still
- 30:24Speaker 1: want to know, is that a destination? Oblique? Like, is
- 30:27Speaker 1: that where everybody going for Labor Day now? I had
- 30:31Speaker 1: big thoughts going in. I felt like we could have
- 30:34Speaker 1: beat them. And they was going to lose what it
- 30:36Speaker 1: went to them.
- 30:38Speaker 6: Oh.
- 30:38Speaker 1: Y'all do know that, right? Well, no, no. I don't know. Oh,
- 30:43Speaker 1: they were too old to gift that ball up. I
- 30:46Speaker 1: hated the Cooper rush actually started. I was all watering
- 30:49Speaker 1: my mouth for some tour. That little dump down Charlie.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Had his mouth all fixed for some tour. Ain't no
- 30:58Speaker 1: tour in the container.
- 30:59Speaker 8: I can't say this, but we were out rushed 26
- 31:03Speaker 8: yards by the Steelers.
- 31:04Speaker 1: So you are right.
- 31:05Speaker 8: We should have started running the ball a little earlier.
- 31:08Speaker 8: Both teams started with new coaches this year. So, I mean,
- 31:12Speaker 8: I'm proud of the Falcons. We got a lot of work. So, Will,
- 31:15Speaker 8: you got some work to do.
- 31:16Speaker 1: Defense. I mean, it was great. We got a Cowboy
- 31:19Speaker 1: fan in the house to go along with Comanche Greg.
- 31:22Speaker 1: Comanche Greg is... A loyalist. A loyalist. It's sort of
- 31:29Speaker 1: like the Koresh's people. Yeah. You like the Rajneesh's. If
- 31:37Speaker 1: I could just keep all the... Y'all from the cult
- 31:40Speaker 1: of the Cowboys. If I could keep all the people...
- 31:43Speaker 1: Just worry about your team. Let the Falcons, real Falcon fans,
- 31:47Speaker 1: concentrate on... Our energy to our team. We're going to
- 31:52Speaker 1: be all right.
- 31:52Speaker 7: If I could look around the sports, I could say, Will,
- 31:54Speaker 7: don't let him drag you into a whole bunch of
- 31:56Speaker 7: stuff now.
- 31:58Speaker 1: Because he turned around and he gave you the introduction on.
- 32:02Speaker 7: He hit you with the introduction on. The real Falcons fan.
- 32:06Speaker 7: And the next thing you know, you'll be drawn up
- 32:08Speaker 7: in something that you didn't know was coming.
- 32:11Speaker 1: Buffalo taking on Houston yesterday, 36-31. Great game. And first
- 32:19Speaker 1: week's always great because it's one of the few weeks
- 32:22Speaker 1: you get to see all the great quarterbacks at once. Yeah.
- 32:27Speaker 1: As the season goes on, people start getting missing. So
- 32:31Speaker 1: everybody was at their height yesterday. Josh Allen, scrolling, running, scrolling,
- 32:36Speaker 1: throwing the touchdown. Great game, 36-31 with the Texans. And
- 32:42Speaker 1: it's going to be a tough road to get to L.A.
- 32:44Speaker 1: from the AFC, I feel, more than the NFC. Because
- 32:49Speaker 1: there's a lot of teams, when healthy, like Buffalo, like
- 32:55Speaker 1: Kansas City, Denver. I think also when you look at
- 33:00Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry, as we talk about it. And Jacksonville,
- 33:06Speaker 1: blowing the doors off of Cleveland. Whose O-line is worse
- 33:12Speaker 1: than ours? Yesterday, Deshaun Watson getting the start. I think
- 33:19Speaker 1: the Browns had already dedicated that they were going to
- 33:22Speaker 1: let him start the first two and see how it goes.
- 33:26Speaker 1: But that was his first. What was it? 900 days
- 33:30Speaker 1: or something? What was it that they kept saying? It
- 33:32Speaker 1: was like 630 something days. 600 and some days, but
- 33:37Speaker 1: basically two years.
- 33:39Speaker 15: Right.
- 33:39Speaker 1: Most people call that retired. That's what they call it.
- 33:42Speaker 1: Most people in professional sports call that retired when you
- 33:45Speaker 1: go 600 consecutive days without playing the sport. They call
- 33:48Speaker 1: that retired. He came out of retirement. He came out
- 33:52Speaker 1: of retirement to play. And it went kind of like
- 33:58Speaker 1: you thought. I don't know if I knew the Jacks
- 33:59Speaker 1: was going to be that explosive 30 for the 10s,
- 34:03Speaker 1: But Cleveland with no O-line, you imagine that. And this
- 34:08Speaker 1: is why I said start Deshaun. I feel like it
- 34:11Speaker 1: allows Deshaun to get out, play, city, whether he can
- 34:16Speaker 1: do it, and then go at Shadur. Now, that doesn't
- 34:20Speaker 1: mean that Shadur is going to show me much with
- 34:22Speaker 1: what they have. Then to go the other way, I
- 34:26Speaker 1: think people would be trying to get Shadur off the
- 34:30Speaker 1: field faster. And I want you to do it just
- 34:32Speaker 1: like last year. When he get on the field, I
- 34:34Speaker 1: want him to feel like he has room to mess up.
- 34:39Speaker 1: If that's what happens or succeed, but not go out
- 34:42Speaker 1: there feeling like something's over his shoulder. And I believe
- 34:46Speaker 1: if you, if they can go ahead on and make
- 34:48Speaker 1: a decision on Deshaun, it allows him just like last year.
- 34:52Speaker 1: I can put him in there and not have to
- 34:53Speaker 1: worry about ever going back to Deshaun.
- 34:57Speaker 7: You said, let him start the first two. Now we,
- 35:01Speaker 7: Just admit it. The man's been retired for the last
- 35:06Speaker 7: two years. Do you think two games is enough? Do
- 35:09Speaker 7: you think we need three, maybe four games to let
- 35:11Speaker 7: him shake? Because he's still just shy now.
- 35:13Speaker 1: I don't know. It depends on what you think you're
- 35:17Speaker 1: getting your money's worth. Because his contract gets brought up
- 35:22Speaker 1: a lot with the guaranteed money and all that. So
- 35:24Speaker 1: you still have to pay him that money. So are
- 35:28Speaker 1: you getting your money's worth if you're just going to
- 35:29Speaker 1: start him two games?
- 35:31Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm saying for me to get my money's worth,
- 35:34Speaker 7: he would have to start two games. He would have
- 35:35Speaker 7: to sell beer at the concession stand. He would have
- 35:38Speaker 7: to work on the field grounds crew, but at least
- 35:43Speaker 7: keeping me in three, four.
- 35:44Speaker 1: I mean, maybe something will jail about that fourth. The
- 35:48Speaker 1: old Deshaun will come back, but it seems like a
- 35:50Speaker 1: wasted opportunity. wasted resources to only use him two games
- 35:55Speaker 1: and then pull him after waiting for him all this time.
- 35:58Speaker 1: I mean, is that all you wanted to do was
- 36:00Speaker 1: prove that we could get rid of him? I don't
- 36:02Speaker 1: understand that philosophy. I guess, I definitely believe that it
- 36:06Speaker 1: should have been a four-game block. Like, he should have
- 36:10Speaker 1: that confidence. At minimum. Of trying to get his, especially
- 36:13Speaker 1: with the talent around him, it's not like you put
- 36:15Speaker 1: him out there with Jerry Rice and Terrell Owens or anything.
- 36:20Speaker 1: And And now, no, not because a lot of people
- 36:24Speaker 1: are going to say this is unpopulated because they love Shador.
- 36:26Speaker 7: It ain't like Tom Brady waiting to get in behind him.
- 36:29Speaker 7: You know what I'm saying?
- 36:30Speaker 1: It's Shador. I mean, come on, man. You give Deshaun
- 36:33Speaker 1: a couple more games. That's bad producer. And you say,
- 36:35Speaker 1: his face got tight. His face got tight. I'm waiting
- 36:38Speaker 1: on some kind of way.
- 36:39Speaker 8: I'm trying to figure out how to get Deshaun to
- 36:42Speaker 8: Atlanta when they make the cut or whatever.
- 36:46Speaker 1: I'm praying. I'm praying. Another injured quarterback. Why would you
- 36:50Speaker 1: want that? Because they love spending money on quarterbacks that
- 36:53Speaker 1: don't pan out. Except for Matt Ryan. Matt Ryan was
- 36:56Speaker 1: his mentor. Who was he in the last three?
- 37:00Speaker 8: It would be great for him to come back with
- 37:02Speaker 8: Matt and get him back on that right before he
- 37:05Speaker 8: went to Clemson.
- 37:05Speaker 5: He used to.
- 37:06Speaker 1: Be out there with Matt through the years. Are you
- 37:08Speaker 1: saying this because you're a Deshaun Watson fan?
- 37:10Speaker 9: I'm a fan.
- 37:10Speaker 1: I'm a fan. I'm a Falcon fan, but I'm a believer.
- 37:13Speaker 1: This is what you see Deshaun Watson as. I'm believing.
- 37:16Speaker 8: I'm a believer for the Falcons. Something's going to work
- 37:19Speaker 8: out for them. We was that close to signing him
- 37:22Speaker 8: before Cleveland. I still feel like if he could have
- 37:26Speaker 8: been able to came home. I just believe it. I'm
- 37:30Speaker 8: going to stay believing for– My Falcons. We're just a
- 37:32Speaker 8: quarterback away.
- 37:33Speaker 1: I feel. You sound confident. We'll be back right after this.
- 37:38Speaker 1: Don't go away.
- 37:40Speaker 10: More of the Sports Jock Show with Wayne Gambia is
- 37:43Speaker 10: coming up next.
- 37:44Speaker 1: Cats are masters at using up their nine lives.
- 38:00Speaker 11: Like chasing laser pointers into walls or jumping onto high shelves.
- 38:07Speaker 11: But the one thing cats never do? Text while driving.

- 39:59Speaker 1: And now, back to The Sports Jock, Wayne Gandy. It's
- 40:12Speaker 1: Wayne Gandy.
- 40:20Speaker 3: Welcome back to the Sports Shock Show.
- 40:31Speaker 1: I'm the Sports Shock Wayne McGandy. Big Kenny, we got
- 40:35Speaker 1: a couple of comments here. I know it got to
- 40:37Speaker 1: be buzzing. Something tells me it's buzzing. We've got plenty
- 40:41Speaker 1: of comments. A lot of people saying they're glad we
- 40:44Speaker 1: backed the Elder Casey said there's some out there with
- 40:51Speaker 1: that opinion and attitude about the Falcons. Uncle Charlie wanted
- 40:57Speaker 1: to know, did Coach Kara Lawson explain her decision on
- 41:01Speaker 1: the starting lineup? I wanted to get to that when
- 41:03Speaker 1: you first talked about Team USA. And he said probably
- 41:07Speaker 1: caused a decrease in the ratings because— You know, people
- 41:12Speaker 1: tune in to see the hot what's right now and
- 41:16Speaker 1: then that gut. But did she have any explanation for
- 41:19Speaker 1: it during the press conference? No, I've never heard her
- 41:22Speaker 1: explain it. I could look it up and try. I
- 41:27Speaker 1: just know I watched four games. And when I see
- 41:32Speaker 1: a consistency of how you're regulating the minutes, you was
- 41:39Speaker 1: treating– the bench like they were subs instead of stars.
- 41:48Speaker 1: Is that kind of like they're subbing, like not sending
- 41:54Speaker 1: the game, just go in there and give me a
- 41:55Speaker 1: couple of quick minutes so Brianna can catch her breath. Angel.
- 42:00Speaker 1: And I kept thinking, well, if I took the five
- 42:03Speaker 1: on the bench, they would beat the five that started.
- 42:07Speaker 1: So I don't know how the legacy... The WNBA seems
- 42:11Speaker 1: to be caught up to me in too much kumbaya.
- 42:19Speaker 1: Is that why they don't get criticized? Because it's a kumbayali.
- 42:24Speaker 1: It's a kumbaya. We supposed to be liking what we do.
- 42:27Speaker 1: Liking each other all together. Your issues are my issues.
- 42:32Speaker 1: It's Lilith Fair. We all should get paid. And it's like,
- 42:36Speaker 1: that's not how the other sports.
- 42:38Speaker 13: Right.
- 42:38Speaker 6: Right.
- 42:39Speaker 1: Do their work. They're not worried about what your team
- 42:41Speaker 1: pay you. They trying to get their max. They don't
- 42:43Speaker 1: care about your rules and whether you got private flights.
- 42:46Speaker 1: They care about whether their team has a private flight. Right.
- 42:49Speaker 1: But the WNBA moves as though... We're a unit. We're
- 42:53Speaker 1: one unit. You have to treat us all the same.
- 42:55Speaker 1: And your stance supposed to be my stance. And when
- 42:58Speaker 1: you look up a lot of the controversy, that's how
- 43:00Speaker 1: it stands. That if somebody, Seattle does something, then Atlanta
- 43:03Speaker 1: is supposed to react in the same way.
- 43:06Speaker 6: Right.
- 43:06Speaker 1: But to me... watching this game, they are moving in that.
- 43:11Speaker 1: And I don't know why you suffocated the Ryan Howards,
- 43:18Speaker 1: Paige Beckers, Angel Reese, those kind of players. And then
- 43:23Speaker 1: you had two players, Sonja Citron and another young lady
- 43:26Speaker 1: that she was not even putting in the game. Wow.
- 43:31Speaker 7: Uncle Charlie also made the comment that Cleveland Browns need
- 43:33Speaker 7: to just count their loss on QB Watson and move on.
- 43:38Speaker 7: like I did purchasing that damn waffle chicken sandwich.
- 43:42Speaker 8: You wouldn't have got the chicken sandwich.
- 43:46Speaker 1: I told him not to. I think you did tell
- 43:49Speaker 1: people don't do it. I told you don't do it.
- 43:51Speaker 8: And we did have, like you said, you had Walter
- 43:54Speaker 8: Elkos and a couple of people saying hello. Russell Crude,
- 43:58Speaker 8: our listeners, been listening. But my good friend, my twin,
- 44:03Speaker 8: they want to know he's happy. The Raiders, he said
- 44:05Speaker 8: it also that. He gets to say they're in first place.
- 44:08Speaker 8: I'm happy for him.
- 44:09Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. My twin. Jared said. I missed them too
- 44:12Speaker 1: last week. Sorry about that, my friend. And Eric Badgett says,
- 44:16Speaker 1: great show, gentlemen. The Raiders, 27-13 over the Dolphins. Who's
- 44:22Speaker 1: the quarterback for the Dolphins? I kept trying to remember. Yeah,
- 44:24Speaker 1: I was trying to figure out who they were. I
- 44:25Speaker 1: was actually watching the game, and I didn't want to
- 44:27Speaker 1: look at the back of the jersey because I wanted
- 44:29Speaker 1: to be like, man, I should know just from the front.
- 44:32Speaker 1: Who is this at quarterback? Is that Malik Willis? Malik.
- 44:36Speaker 1: That's what I thought that was. See, that's what he
- 44:39Speaker 1: wants to do with Deshaun Watson. Y'all still trying to
- 44:41Speaker 1: get maximum mileage out of short-range vehicles. Hey, listen now.
- 44:48Speaker 1: For the price of gas right now, all I need
- 44:51Speaker 1: is short mileage. These tires still good. I just replaced
- 44:55Speaker 1: that carburetor over there three years ago.
- 44:59Speaker 8: That carburetor still under warranty. And that four-cylinder moves going
- 45:03Speaker 8: to save me some money.
- 45:05Speaker 1: I'm telling you, but Malik Willis, but with the Raiders
- 45:09Speaker 1: and their young players, you have to tap your hat off, 27-13,
- 45:15Speaker 1: that the Raiders went out and won this game. So
- 45:18Speaker 1: kudos to our man Jarrett Cousins. Y'all keep trying to
- 45:25Speaker 1: revive Kurt. Kurt is a man of God. He needs
- 45:29Speaker 1: to start a church. Can I be a trustee, Kurt?
- 45:33Speaker 1: Because Kurt was sent here. Kurt might be one of
- 45:35Speaker 1: the angels that have been walking on the planet since
- 45:38Speaker 1: the beginning. Just with a mean spiral. I'm telling you. God.
- 45:43Speaker 1: Nobody's been resurrected as much as Kurt Custer.
- 45:49Speaker 7: Look, even Jesus be sitting back like, Kurt, you did
- 45:52Speaker 7: it again.
- 45:54Speaker 1: You did it again. I can't believe. I mean, I
- 45:57Speaker 1: thought I was the comeback king, but look at you.
- 46:00Speaker 1: Three touchdowns yesterday. He did throw two interceptions, but he
- 46:04Speaker 1: was 21 of 30 and led his team to victory,
- 46:08Speaker 1: holding it down for Mendoza out there until he gets ready. Gentee,
- 46:15Speaker 1: which I was telling people, Gentee put me in the
- 46:18Speaker 1: mind of like B. John Robinson. Every other year, there's
- 46:22Speaker 1: that back that can be a difference maker. That is
- 46:25Speaker 1: a little something more than just having a bag, like
- 46:29Speaker 1: a difference maker. B. John Robinson having a dominant game.
- 46:34Speaker 1: I think he had almost 180 of the 230 yards yesterday.
- 46:40Speaker 1: He is the weapon. Once again, as I said, even
- 46:43Speaker 1: when they signed him, not to go back to the
- 46:45Speaker 1: Falcons too much, but I didn't understand why you signed
- 46:48Speaker 1: Drake London to all that money when you don't use
- 46:53Speaker 1: Drake London like that. To me, it's about usage, not
- 47:00Speaker 1: just about the talent. You wrapped him up like he
- 47:05Speaker 1: was Jordan Jefferson. But he's not. And you don't have
- 47:09Speaker 1: nobody to use him with like that. But, you know,
- 47:14Speaker 1: Kirk Cousins out there, Ashton Gentry doing his thing. This
- 47:20Speaker 1: is his second year, right? Yeah. But I think he's
- 47:23Speaker 1: going to be a special back. But, yes, the Raiders won.
- 47:25Speaker 1: 27 to 13. I did see some, speaking of the Raiders,
- 47:31Speaker 1: because every time I think of the Raiders, I think
- 47:32Speaker 1: about Antonio Brown calling the GM the derogatory term. A ninja.
- 47:40Speaker 1: At practice. I still don't know how you don't get
- 47:42Speaker 1: suspended calling the GM Toll House. But that's what he
- 47:49Speaker 1: went out there and called him. Saltine. And didn't get suspended.
- 47:54Speaker 1: He found his way out the league anyway, but he
- 47:56Speaker 1: should have been suspended for that. We done all cussed
- 48:00Speaker 1: the boss out at work before.
- 48:02Speaker 14: Am I right?
- 48:03Speaker 1: Am I right? We done, man, you get out mama. No.
- 48:07Speaker 1: You ain't never cursed. No, I've been mad at the
- 48:09Speaker 1: assistant coach. But I never. You ain't never went at
- 48:14Speaker 1: the owner of the team. No, no. That's a definite no. No,
- 48:18Speaker 1: I don't even get it. Just Mr. over there. Yeah. Yeah,
- 48:22Speaker 1: when you get to the owner, but I've never challenged
- 48:24Speaker 1: the head coach. The assistant and the OC, they can
- 48:28Speaker 1: get it. With the head coach. But when the head
- 48:30Speaker 1: coach come over, you sit up and you listen to
- 48:33Speaker 1: him even if you don't agree with him. But the
- 48:35Speaker 1: OC might get it as I'm walking off the field.
- 48:37Speaker 1: We talking about somebody. I told you about the caller.
- 48:39Speaker 1: You know, he might get it while I'm still on
- 48:41Speaker 1: the field. Mike, what the? What's that? We talking about
- 48:45Speaker 1: somebody that'll shoot with the cameras rolling. But we'll talk
- 48:50Speaker 1: about A.B. on the other side of the break. He
- 48:53Speaker 1: had some issue with Drewski. Y'all didn't like the little
- 48:56Speaker 1: thing Drewski did with the CTE. I didn't see it. Oh, okay.
- 49:01Speaker 1: We'll be back right after this with more of the
- 49:02Speaker 1: Sports Talk Show. Don't go away.
- 49:16Speaker 9: More of the Sports Jock Show with Wayne Gambias coming
- 49:19Speaker 9: up next.
- 49:21Speaker 1: And now let's talk about something exciting, life insurance.
- 49:24Speaker 12: Three-quarters of Americans believe that coverage represents a critical piece
- 49:28Speaker 12: of financial security, yet only 49% actually have life insurance.
- 49:32Speaker 4: When I was 25, me and my wife were just
- 49:34Speaker 4: getting started with our family and thought we lived forever.
- 49:37Speaker 4: Life insurance was the last thing on my mind.
- 49:39Speaker 1: What about you? Will you be leaving benefits or bills?
- 49:42Speaker 4: When I was 40, with a kid in college and
- 49:44Speaker 4: bills piling up, I was worried how my family would
- 49:46Speaker 4: survive without me. That's when I made an appointment with
- 49:48Speaker 4: the insurance informant.
- 49:49Speaker 12: Information gives you power and life insurance gives your family security,
- 49:53Speaker 12: no matter what stage of life you're in.
- 49:55Speaker 4: Now that I'm older, I don't worry about whether I'll
- 49:57Speaker 4: leave my family with bills or benefits.
- 49:59Speaker 1: The answer is easy.
- 50:00Speaker 12: Whether you're 25 or 50, whether you earn a little
- 50:02Speaker 12: or a lot, all you need is the insurance informant
- 50:05Speaker 12: to help you build a foundation of security. Because without you,
- 50:09Speaker 12: your family will have two options, benefits or bills. Which
- 50:13Speaker 12: legacy will you leave behind? Log on today, benefitsorbills.com. That's benefitsorbills.com.
- 50:21Speaker 20: Some people won't give you the real talk on drugs,
- 50:24Speaker 20: but it's time we know the facts. Fentanyl is killing people.
- 50:28Speaker 20: It's a powerful opioid, often made illegally and commonly mixed
- 50:31Speaker 20: with illicit drugs. It can even be pressed into counterfeit
- 50:34Speaker 20: pills that resemble prescription medications. Just two milligrams, about the
- 50:38Speaker 20: size of a few grains of sand, could potentially be lethal.
- 50:42Speaker 20: This isn't an ad to scare you, but it is
- 50:44Speaker 20: an ad to make you think twice. Get the facts.
- 50:47Speaker 20: Go to realdealonfentanyl.com. This message is brought to you by
- 50:50Speaker 20: the Ad Council. You wanted to be cool, which led
- 50:53Speaker 20: you to smoking, which led to a pack a day.
- 50:57Speaker 20: Then you met that special someone, which led to starting
- 51:00Speaker 20: a life with them, which led to wanting to live longer,
- 51:04Speaker 20: which led to quitting. Then you heard you may be
- 51:07Speaker 20: at risk for lung cancer, which led you to getting

- 51:23Speaker 1: And now, back to the sports jar, Wayne Gandy. Center Court.
- 51:31Speaker 1: On sports, news, gossip, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 52:00Speaker 19: You say, why did you do with him today? And
- 52:05Speaker 19: sniff me out like I was tankering.
- 52:11Speaker 1: Welcome back to the Sports Shock Show. I'm the Sports Shock,
- 52:13Speaker 1: Wayne Gandy. Good morning to you, the Cowboys. Losing to
- 52:18Speaker 1: the Giants, I think, in a surprise just based on
- 52:23Speaker 1: the Giants from last year. But when John Harbaugh comes in,
- 52:27Speaker 1: he brings a certain attitude. a certain settlement, a certain
- 52:32Speaker 1: idea and a premise that you can buy into. You
- 52:37Speaker 1: don't have a reason not to. You don't. If you're
- 52:44Speaker 1: Jackson Dart, if you're neighbors and all the rest of them,
- 52:47Speaker 1: you don't have a card to play not to try
- 52:51Speaker 1: it his way. And that's why you can quickly have
- 52:56Speaker 1: a turnaround when you bring in a hardball like that
- 53:00Speaker 1: because especially when you have a young team, they don't
- 53:04Speaker 1: have a fight. That's why you see a lot of coaches, players,
- 53:13Speaker 1: especially something like the NBA, more and more the assistant
- 53:16Speaker 1: coaches are ex-players because you instantly have to give creed.
- 53:21Speaker 1: Respect it. You got to respect it. No matter how
- 53:24Speaker 1: great the person was, They come in and tell you, oh, no,
- 53:28Speaker 1: you know, Mark Price. Remember Mark Price? Mark Price comes
- 53:32Speaker 1: in and tell you, hey, Big Kenny, you need to
- 53:35Speaker 1: pull your elbow in a little bit. Okay. I've been
- 53:37Speaker 1: watching you shoot. A little bit more closer. What? Closer here.
- 53:41Speaker 1: What'd you say?
- 53:42Speaker 5: Okay.
- 53:42Speaker 17: All right.
- 53:44Speaker 1: You're going to sit there and you're going to take
- 53:45Speaker 1: that advice different than some guy that telling you he
- 53:49Speaker 1: played one year at Weber State That you've never heard of. Wait, no.
- 53:55Speaker 1: Weber was called that year, though. Yeah, they made it
- 53:58Speaker 1: through the season.
- 53:59Speaker 8: They got to the Sweet 16.
- 54:01Speaker 1: Weber State. They beat Mattar Hills that one year. That
- 54:04Speaker 1: year he was there. That year. Since Damian Lillard went
- 54:06Speaker 1: to Weber State, if it's not him, then. That's why
- 54:10Speaker 1: I said the one guy at Weber State you never
- 54:11Speaker 1: heard of. He's just telling you he played. He know
- 54:15Speaker 1: Damian Lillard, though. He knew him that time. I'm glad
- 54:18Speaker 1: you did. But where's my cup of coffee? So it's
- 54:27Speaker 1: a difference instantly of me trying to figure out who
- 54:32Speaker 1: you are, and I walked in the room, and I
- 54:35Speaker 1: instantly recognized who you were as far as me accepting
- 54:39Speaker 1: your tutelage. Okay. That's why teams try to keep veterans
- 54:45Speaker 1: around in spots that, well, ain't no need to keep
- 54:49Speaker 1: any young. I might as well keep your Donald Haslam
- 54:52Speaker 1: here because there's a certain temperament you like to play with.
- 54:55Speaker 1: in Miami. He can convey that to the people that's
- 55:01Speaker 1: coming in. That's a big part of sports. I'm saying
- 55:04Speaker 1: that with John Harbaugh because that's why when you watch,
- 55:08Speaker 1: I just watched the Giants. They played with a little
- 55:11Speaker 1: more certainty last night against the Cowboys. They're different than
- 55:17Speaker 1: last year. Almost like the overlord is here, there's someone
- 55:23Speaker 1: who has told me what to do, I listened, and
- 55:25Speaker 1: now I have to do it. Versus DeBall or whatever
- 55:28Speaker 1: his name was last year. What was his name? Brian Dable. Dable. DeBall.
- 55:35Speaker 1: That probably didn't have their command. That's why you go
- 55:38Speaker 1: get a Mike Tomlin. That's why you get Sean Payton
- 55:42Speaker 1: and how fast he, because I got young people, they
- 55:46Speaker 1: don't have a resume to fight what I'm telling you.
- 55:51Speaker 1: Do you think, like, too many teams do that? Like,
- 55:53Speaker 1: get the... Like, with the Giants, they had Brian Dable before.
- 55:58Speaker 1: They had Joe Judge, Ben McAdoo. Like, getting guys who
- 56:06Speaker 1: they were coordinators, but not that experienced guy. Like, they
- 56:12Speaker 1: had Tom Coughlin before who had the experience and won
- 56:16Speaker 1: with them. Do you think, like, not enough teams recognize that, okay,
- 56:22Speaker 1: if we have a young team, there's a lot of talent,
- 56:26Speaker 1: but we need that experienced coach who has done some
- 56:29Speaker 1: winning to lead them. Like, why isn't that kind of
- 56:33Speaker 1: the path that teams should take as far as, like,
- 56:39Speaker 1: if we're trying to win with this young team? Well,
- 56:41Speaker 1: each team is different. Each city is different. The Giants,
- 56:46Speaker 1: if you look, A disciplinarian is more of what helps them.
- 56:50Speaker 1: From the tuna to Coughlin, their errors are stimulated through that.
- 56:59Speaker 1: But NFL is copycat. So as soon as someone wins
- 57:02Speaker 1: a Super Bowl with a hot assistant, everybody runs out
- 57:05Speaker 1: and gets someone. Right. But you have to have a
- 57:09Speaker 1: team philosophy. The Giants sometimes get off track trying to get,
- 57:14Speaker 1: you know, the Falcons don't have a team philosophy. So
- 57:17Speaker 1: they keep going back and forth. So they have up
- 57:23Speaker 1: and down years and you lose players. The Cowboys have
- 57:27Speaker 1: a philosophy. You just celebrate your team too much. So
- 57:33Speaker 1: you don't get the maximum out of them because they
- 57:36Speaker 1: live in a world where I've succeeded. There is no
- 57:40Speaker 1: goal to attain. There is no bonus goal. That's like
- 57:46Speaker 1: that one. That's like that one. They get first class treatment.
- 57:50Speaker 1: Like they won the Superbowl regardless. But you got to
- 57:56Speaker 1: get on the plane and hold a meal sometime. You
- 57:59Speaker 1: got to have some disgruntled athletes. Ain't going to be
- 58:02Speaker 1: no meal going back home. What you mean ain't no
- 58:04Speaker 1: meal going back home? They said they were going to
- 58:07Speaker 1: have poached salmon with arugula. You ever seen the Cowboys
- 58:11Speaker 1: locker room? They won the Super Bowl last year then
- 58:15Speaker 1: with this locker.
- 58:19Speaker 9: Room.
- 58:19Speaker 1: The Steelers grudgingly give stuff out. Hey, man, can I
- 58:25Speaker 1: get another milk? Can I get another carton of milk? Dang,
- 58:29Speaker 1: you had a milk already. They're giving out squirts of soap,
- 58:35Speaker 1: shower bath soap. We'll get you one squirt. That's enough.
- 58:38Speaker 1: You better put that in your towel. But the Cowboys
- 58:43Speaker 1: just give it all. Y'all got name, brain, motion, ground.
- 58:46Speaker 1: Y'all using everything. Three-ply. Wow. Toilet stay. Y'all got toilet
- 58:51Speaker 1: stay blocked up. All in there with the three-ply. No,
- 58:55Speaker 1: I got that shred in the bottom of it. Damn.
- 58:58Speaker 1: So some of that is mental because you're trying to
- 59:01Speaker 1: get me to play. It's not that the talent is always.
- 59:04Speaker 1: I'm trying to get the talent to want to play
- 59:06Speaker 1: always at its maximum. and I think that's what John
- 59:11Speaker 1: Harbaugh will bring to this team an idea with young
- 59:14Speaker 1: players that Giants have that they have to be accountable
- 59:19Speaker 1: we'll be back more sports talk show right after.
- 59:23Speaker 10: This right check me out y'all Don't go.
- 59:40Speaker 1: Away.
- 59:40Speaker 9: More of the Sports Jock Show with Wayne Gambia is
- 59:43Speaker 9: coming up next.
- 59:46Speaker 16: You said you'd never buy your kid candy from the
- 59:48Speaker 16: checkout aisle. Or forget extra diapers. And never give in
- 59:54Speaker 16: to a meltdown.
- 59:55Speaker 1: Meow.
- 59:56Speaker 6: Meow.
- 59:58Speaker 16: You'd never lick your thumb to clean their face. Never
- 1:00:01Speaker 16: let them have too much screen time. And never bribe
- 1:00:06Speaker 16: them for just one more bite. You'd say you'd never
- 1:00:11Speaker 16: let them out in public without their hair brushed. Never,
- 1:00:15Speaker 16: ever become a minivan mom. And you'd never give them
- 1:00:19Speaker 16: your phone for a quiet dinner. So when you say
- 1:00:25Speaker 16: you'd never leave your child in a hot car.
- 1:00:29Speaker 16: No, it can happen. Cars get hot fast and kids
- 1:00:33Speaker 16: can be at risk in temperatures as low as 60
- 1:00:36Speaker 16: degrees Fahrenheit. Never happens. Before you leave the car, always stop, look, lock.
- 1:00:43Speaker 16: Brought to you by NHTSA and the Ad Council.
- 1:00:48Speaker 20: I actually drive better when I'm high.
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: If anything, I'm more careful.
- 1:00:52Speaker 15: That's probably what the driver who killed a four-year-old told himself.
- 1:00:55Speaker 15: And now he's in prison. If you feel different, you
- 1:00:58Speaker 15: drive different. Don't drive high. Brought to you by NHTSA
- 1:01:01Speaker 15: and the Ad Council.
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: Enough is enough! I have had enough! Why so serious?
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: And we hold the world ransom for.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: Excuse me while I whip this out. Show me that.
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: Broadcasting live in Atlanta, Georgia. This, this is the Sports
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: Chalk Show with Wayne Gandy. You may build me up,
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: build me up, yeah, yeah, you will build me up, yeah.
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: But you won't break me down, I've come too far,
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: I've come too far, yeah, yeah, I've come too far, yeah.
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: So just throw in the towel, hey, hey, hey, hey.
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: It's a new day, I'm a, I'm a doobie, yeah,
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: I'm gonna go all the way. You may build me up.
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: Welcome back to the Sports Talk Show. I'm the Sports
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: Talk Wayne Gannon. Good morning to you out there in
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: this thing land tonight. Chiefs taking on Broncos. Should be
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: a great game if you're not tired of football already.
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: It's been a long week. A lot of action across
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: the board. Remember this journey started all the way on
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: Wednesday night. And it has gone all the way into
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: the night. So we're talking about basically... Six days of
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: football in the first week. So you could be tired.
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: You might need to rest up, take a nap. But
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: you do have a great game, Bo Nix. Patrick Mahomes
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: going at it tonight to try to keep you up.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: But it is late, 8.15. And if you watch the
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: whole thing, you won't be in bed until 11.30.
- 1:02:45Speaker 7: End up in bed. I'd be watching it from the bed.
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: 8.15. Have mercy. No. 8.15. After such a long week.
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: The Bad Producer wanted to talk about Jemele Hill's comments
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: about systemic something. People love to use that word to
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: make things. Systemic obliques.
- 1:03:09Speaker 7: Because, you know, I'm all about trying to learn new words.
- 1:03:14Speaker 7: And so then my two, I'm going to just join
- 1:03:16Speaker 7: them together systemically.
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: Systemic inequity to blame for FAMU's blowout. This is something
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: that she is harping on. But what about when Miami
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: blows out teams that are not HBCU? What is that,
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: Comanche Greg, Big Kenny? What is that? Because they beat
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: the brakes off of basically anybody except the people that
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: they can't beat the brakes off of. They'll take a
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: South Florida team and beat the brakes off of them.
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: I told you they was playing South Florida this Saturday, right?
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: And they beat them 60-3. Would you be surprised? Wouldn't
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: be surprised at all. If they did it to Central Florida.
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: Would you be surprised? They done whooped Illinois bad a
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: couple times. I'm saying they done whooped some completely. Wake Forest.
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: They might take Wake Forest to the shed. Down through there, yeah.
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: So where would this fall? Like when it happens there,
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: wouldn't this idea that she's talking about be disproven?
- 1:04:19Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean, she's even went to the point of
- 1:04:21Speaker 8: saying it's a humiliation ritual. I don't get that part
- 1:04:25Speaker 8: of it either.
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: It's a financial windfall for teams, not just on the
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: HBCU level, not just on division, whatever, such and such
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: and such, or from the S-A-I-A-C-C-C-A-A-I-G, wherever they from. They
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: need that million dollars. Who don't? Who don't need a
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: million dollars? You have teams like, even here locally, Georgia State.
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: who people look to to try to be a true
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: pillar in football, still takes games. Yes. Still will go
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: to Ohio State for the meal. Come on, man. It's
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: a meal. It's a meal. You ain't going to get
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: paid for this game. You ain't going to hit the
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: road for the meal. Come on, man. They still, every year,
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: take at least one game where they go play for
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: the money. Southern Miss went to Auburn. I wasn't going
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: to bring it up because I know it's a touchy
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: subject for Big Kenny. But we took him out to
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: the shed. Wait, wait, wait, wait. And how much did
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: we get paid? I think it was $ 750. ain't nothing
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: touchy about that. Ain't nothing touchy about that. If I
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: can touch 750, that same even swap ain't no swindle.
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: But if they get blown out by Auburn, right? If
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: they get blown out. How is that systemic? Does the
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: check steal cash? Yeah. And we'll put that into our system.
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: I'm still struggling to find where he got this story from.
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: Might be AI. No, it's not AI. Black Twitter. No,
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: she said it. Did you go in on Black Twitter?
- 1:06:03Speaker 17: Yeah.
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: Because, you know, it's probably only one of his black
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: Twitter accounts. No, it's there. It's out there.
- 1:06:09Speaker 8: But what I was going to say was, see, and
- 1:06:12Speaker 8: that's so funny with North Carolina A & T and
- 1:06:16Speaker 8: Hampton University, they're not in a traditional HBCU conference. So
- 1:06:22Speaker 8: when any HBCU team, when they play them, the– And
- 1:06:26Speaker 8: if they happen to lose to a team that's still
- 1:06:28Speaker 8: in one of the traditional CIA, AA, or the MEAC,
- 1:06:32Speaker 8: or the SWAC, if North Carolina A & T or
- 1:06:35Speaker 8: Hampton lose to one of those teams, they say, uh-huh,
- 1:06:38Speaker 8: they shouldn't have left HBCU.
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: And I can't get that either. I don't understand.
- 1:06:45Speaker 8: Because they want to– aren't we supposed to grow and elevate?
- 1:06:49Speaker 8: You know, want to move forward? But it seems like
- 1:06:52Speaker 8: they get upset. I mean, they want to just dog
- 1:06:55Speaker 8: them out because, oh, if you wouldn't have left trying
- 1:06:57Speaker 8: to go be something else and stay with us, we
- 1:07:00Speaker 8: still beating you. But they are moving the needle by
- 1:07:06Speaker 8: going to other conferences and taking the HBCUs to get in,
- 1:07:09Speaker 8: putting their football and sports in traditional PWI conference to
- 1:07:13Speaker 8: be able to play.
- 1:07:15Speaker 7: And you made me think of another question he was
- 1:07:17Speaker 7: asking when it comes to Jemele Hill, which is how
- 1:07:20Speaker 7: we got on this subject. What is it about a
- 1:07:24Speaker 7: Miami beating Wake Forest that doesn't get mentioned? How come
- 1:07:30Speaker 7: she doesn't bring that up? How HBCUs who are in
- 1:07:35Speaker 7: the traditional conferences, the SWACs, the MEACs, the other conferences, alienate.
- 1:07:44Speaker 7: those that aren't she never speaks on that stuff she
- 1:07:48Speaker 7: never talks about that part of it and I think
- 1:07:54Speaker 7: the platform for me is wearing thin but you know
- 1:07:58Speaker 7: I can't knock your hustle I.
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: Would imagine FAMU and any of these universities as we
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: know from Savannah State days and talking to an AD
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: about this situation where their programs would not would be
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: if they couldn't get two of these kind of games
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: a year. So to me that's what the calculator, she
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: should be, if they couldn't get them at least two
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: of these opponents. And FAMU has settled in that as
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: much as Miami will play them every year, they're gonna
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: drive down to Hard Rock Stadium. And have fun, take
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: a trip, make memories. And trust me, the players, I
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: talk to them all the time. They have their memories
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: of when they played. Bigger schools. I got a touchdown
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: when I scored against, or I hit Derrick Henry when
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: he was at Alabama. He came across the middle of Alabama.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: That is their opportunity. So it's not so much about
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: the score. You got guys with high school stories. Yeah,
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: somebody telling that story about that day they dunked on
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: Jordan if it happened. Go ahead. You got that confused look.
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: All I found was a picture with a quote from
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: her on it. I didn't find any article. So this
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: could be fake or just someone trying to have their
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: own agenda out there. But I see that the point
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: that she's making is because a school like FAMU is
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: underfunded by the state that the football team would take
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: these games to to generate some revenue. And, but to
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: see these results, it's a result of that, that comes
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: from being underfunded by the state, not just we're coming
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: where if they get blown out, that's what it is,
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: but not that they shouldn't be playing these games or. I,
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: Or they shouldn't be trying to make some money, but
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: it would probably be better for them if they weren't
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: being underfunded by the state.
- 1:10:23Speaker 7: Southern Miss will play Auburn. Neither of those schools are underfunded.
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: Trust me. Since the 80s, Southern Miss gets their share
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: of the pie, plus they got a large alumni stipend.
- 1:10:38Speaker 6: And.
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: they go and get blown out by Auburn and they
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: still want the million bucks, a million dollars, a million dollars.
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: It goes a long way, no matter where you spend
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: it in the HBCU or at a PWI, it's still
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: a million dollars on the American economy. So it's still
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: to me, a stretch that this is some sort of
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: ritual of embarrassment and retribution when, um, The Bears beat somebody,
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: scored 59 points. Big Kenny, because I undercut you, and see,
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: this is why I had to make sure I did
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: it right, because I don't want to be wrong.
- 1:11:19Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: I cheated you some money. Auburn paid Southern Miss... 1.85 million.
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: And see, now we got to report the rest of that.
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: I was hoping you'd just stay with the 750 because
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: we were finna divvy that up, Sports Jock. To play
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: the game the other way. See, see?
- 1:11:40Speaker 7: And I was thinking to myself, boy, we going to
- 1:11:42Speaker 7: clear a whole bunch this time because he, when you
- 1:11:44Speaker 7: said it on the.
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: Air, we the youth. And, you know, I don't know what, 1.85
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: million guaranteed. Guaranteed? And I don't... Guaranteed. Come down to
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: the plane.
- 1:11:55Speaker 8: I got another number for you, too. The state budget
- 1:11:59Speaker 8: for HBCUs in the state of Florida is $ 162 million
- 1:12:04Speaker 8: a year.
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: So I don't know how.
- 1:12:06Speaker 8: Many HBCUs they have, but they have a budget of
- 1:12:09Speaker 8: $ 162 million.
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: So that's why I started off, Greg. What about the
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: schools that aren't not underfunded necessarily, that are not HBCUs,
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: that still get Knocked around. Damn. Because Auburn took them
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: out to the woodshed, didn't they? Yes, they did. Took
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: them out there. Is Weber State HBCU?
- 1:12:34Speaker 5: No.
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: Colorado took them out to the woodshed. No, they're not HBCU.
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: But they got that check. Turn up for a check.
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: I don't think they're HBCUs in Utah. Oh, it might be.
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: It might. You never know. You never know. Now you
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: sound racist. I didn't know Edward Waters was. We'll be back.
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: More of the Sports Talk show right after this. HBCU. Bluefields.
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: You did only. Why haven't you seen it? I'm all

- 1:15:50Speaker 6: Goodbye.
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: Welcome back to the Sports Talk Show. I'm the Sports
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: Talk Wayne Gandy. A couple of birthdays here from yesterday, today,
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: and early this week going into tomorrow. Just a couple
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: of birthdays here. Indiana Fever, small forward. Lexi Hall is 27.
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: Lexi is a twin, but I don't know her sister's name.
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: I know they both played at Stanford together, but Lexi
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: only wanted to make the WNBA. Tom Hardy, Mob Lane.
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: All kind of Bane in the Batman movie. He's got
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: a rap album? He's got a rap album. Who? Bane?
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: Give me some Tom Hardy Bane in the Batman. Give
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: me the voice. You merely adopted the dog. I was
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: born of it. That's what he told me. Tom Hardy 49.
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: Tommy Lee Jones and Tommy Lee I'm sorry man. I
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: don't know. You killed him. I don't know, man. No,
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: I didn't think he was dead. You kind of thought
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: he was dead a little bit. You didn't think he
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: was dead, but you thought he was a little bit dead.
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: I thought he was already 80.
- 1:17:01Speaker 6: Oh.
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: He just turned 80? You's a lie. You's a lie.
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: Tom Hardy, listen now. Listen now. Listen now. It was
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: hard to believe Tom Hardy had a rap album, but...
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: But you just turned an 80. Tommy Lee Jones. You
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: was 80 in the fugitive. He just turned an 80. Okay. Okay.
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: If that's what you're going to go with. Pete Carroll, 75,
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: the fastest man with the release in the NFL history.
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: Who is that, Babadooks? Who has the quickest release ever? Wait.
- 1:17:41Speaker 6: Oh.
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: John Elway or Boomer Esaias, one of those two. Wrong.
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: Dan Marino, 65 years old. You know you can't get
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: to Marino, baby. It's gone. That's right. That's right.
- 1:17:52Speaker 8: I don't even know if he ever pulled the arm back.
- 1:17:55Speaker 8: Can I get credit for Elway was in that draft?
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: No, Elway wound up. I'm saying, but they was in
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: that era right there in that same draft. No, moral
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: victories is for minor league coaches. Hey, I'm coaching. Who
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: else do we have here? Jason Terry, one of the
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: great six men. It's 49 years old. Dennis Schroeder is 33.
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: Dennis Schroeder been on half the teams in the NBA.
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: Did you say his name correctly, though? I'm just joking.
- 1:18:27Speaker 8: You know, he changes how you say his name. It
- 1:18:31Speaker 8: went from Schroeder to Schroeder to Schroeder. I don't know
- 1:18:33Speaker 8: where it's at.
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: I don't know if he did it or we just
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: always mess it up. He said we were butchering him.
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: I'm quite sure, yeah.
- 1:18:40Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: I called a game the other night. The guy's name
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: was Prosperity. That was his first and last name. Prosperity. Wiggins.
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: Prosperity Wiggins. What was his name? What was his last name?
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: Something like that. Evans or Myers or something like that.
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: Dennis Schroeder, 33. Jaron Jackson. He's with Portland, right? They
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: traded him. Did he get traded from Memphis? He's with Utah. Utah. Utah.
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: I know he got traded. Who's in Portland? John Morant.
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: John Morant, okay. But Jason Jarrett is not in Memphis.
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: They need to send the Memphis team to Nashville. They're
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: not wrong about that. I think they would do better
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: in Nashville. Yes, fan base, everything. I think the fan base,
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: whatever they have in Memphis, would carry over. I think
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: it would just– I think you put it down there
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: with the hockey, you put it down there with the football,
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: and Vanderbilt and Fisk and Tennessee State and all the
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: rest of those universities down there. And just really, I
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: think it'll have a different vibe. You don't want players
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: present or future having this conversation, I don't want to
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: go there because of the city. They don't even be
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: talking about the organization. They be talking about they just
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: don't want to go to the city. They never say
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: nothing bad about that. Kevin Durant was talking about he
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: didn't want to go to Charlotte because of the organization. Right.
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: You got guys talking about they don't want to go
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: play for Memphis because of where it is. My choices
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: of residents are Memphis, Arkansas, or Mississippi. And that just
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: ain't attractive to a lot of professional athletes. Big Kenny's
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: big sister, Ivana Van Zandt. Iyanla Van Zandt. Is 73.
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: Tavis Smiley, 62. The great Bernie Williams, excuse me. The
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: Yankees is 58. Swiss Beats, 48. Tyler Perry, 57. Jean Smart,
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: the actress, 76. Mooney Long. Did I say that right?
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: Money Long. It was not Mooney?
- 1:20:47Speaker 25: No.
- 1:20:48Speaker 6: Money.
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: Money. I thought it was Mooney. I thought it was
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: Mooney Long. It's Money Long. Okay. It's the... A play
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: on words. A play on words. There you go, sports jock.
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: A play on words. Okay, so money long. You a
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: brilliant dude, Duke. For real, though. For real, Duke. You brilliant, son.
- 1:21:09Speaker 22: He's 38.
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: The great Larry Brown is 86. Michael Crabtree. Remember him?
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: The 49er receiver. He's 39. Deshaun Watson had a birthday yesterday.
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: He's 31. Marina Marbury. The WNBA shooter is 30. And
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: Jimmy Buckets. He's still with Golden State? Yep. Is 37
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: years of age. They're big. Kenny, not too much work,
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: but what you working with? I'm going to have to
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: be money long. She's 38. So she out of creepy
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: old man territory. You know what I'm saying? She just,
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: you know, she in her bag when she get at
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: a dude my age. We had mentioned the Drewski. Yeah.
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: What happened with Drewski? Video where he did like maybe
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: a minute, and he did like a video where he
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: was acting like he was a football player experiencing CTE.
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: A lot of players say they want to see him
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: about it, that it's not something to make fun of.
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: Antonio Brown being one of those guys. I didn't know
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: if y'all had seen it. It was something that's happened
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: since we've been.
- 1:22:24Speaker 18: Wow.
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: I saw a comment that they say that they attribute
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: to Antonio Brown, and that's kind of hard. I've seen
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: the video, and there are a few more players. Did
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: you think it was funny? Yes. Yeah, it was funny.
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: I haven't seen it. I thought it was funny.
- 1:22:40Speaker 8: Yeah, because it was funny. He just took a couple
- 1:22:45Speaker 8: of scenarios, what happened with the players. Funny where you'd
- 1:22:48Speaker 8: be laughing and talking about, man, you wrong.
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: See, that's what I'm saying. And you watched it waiting
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: on your CTE exam. You see what I'm saying? And
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: you was laughing like, man, this is hilarious, bro. He
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: wrong for that. He wrong for that. Yeah, he wrong.
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: He wrong for that because I'd be writing myself a note.
- 1:23:04Speaker 8: But you know what's so funny is that the Q
- 1:23:08Speaker 8: said they wanted to get at him at one time,
- 1:23:10Speaker 8: then the preachers wanted to get at him after the skit,
- 1:23:12Speaker 8: now the players.
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: He got all these people wanting to get at him.
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: So you're not supposed to do skits about things? It's
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: not Saturday Night Live, I guess. He has done things
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: that could be considered more offensive. But aren't shows like
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: Family Guy, they've done 20 years of stuff like that.
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: Their whole show is based on the premise. You ever
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: seen Family Guy? In their whole show on the premise
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: of making some kind of joke or mockery of something
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: that happens in society. All the time. All the time.
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: It's spoof. It's parody. It's Saturday Night Live. It's In
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: Living Color. It's all that irreverence that used to be
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: standard on television. And now, everybody's... Yeah, Carol Burnett show.
- 1:24:00Speaker 6: Right.
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: Yeah, only time I've ever had, I can remember having
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: an issue with a TV show was when they used
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: to have that football show on ESPN about a football team. Ballers. Playmakers.
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: Was that name Playmakers? Playmakers. And I saw one scene,
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: I stopped watching after that, where the guy at halftime
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: left the locker room, got in his car, and drove
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: off to find him some crack. And I'm like, I
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: don't know when this happened. Yeah. But I ain't judging
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: because we done all drove off to find some crack.
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: Am I right? Am I right? No, just you, Will,
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: and Bo. I don't mind. Whatever, whatever. Pimpin' ain't easy.
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: We'll be back with more of the Sports Talk show
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: right after this. Well, I had my first shot. That's me, y'all.
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: I named the boy myself. Yeah. All the boys call
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: him now. That's what's up.
- 1:24:53Speaker 3: I told him as a youngster, he'll be the greatest
- 1:24:56Speaker 3: man alive.
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: Greatest man alive. Don't go away.
- 1:25:01Speaker 9: More of the Sports Jock Show with Wayne Gamby is
- 1:25:04Speaker 9: coming up next.
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: All right, son. Time to put out this campfire. Dad,
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: we learned about this in school. Oh, did you now? Okay.
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: What's first? Smokey Bear said to.
- 1:25:16Speaker 5: First, drown it with a bucket of water. Then stir
- 1:25:18Speaker 5: it with a shovel.
- 1:25:19Speaker 18: Wow.
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: You sound just like him.
- 1:25:22Speaker 5: Then he said, if it's still warm, then do it again.
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: Where can I learn all this?
- 1:25:27Speaker 5: It's all on SmokeyBear.com with other wildfire prevention tips. Because
- 1:25:32Speaker 5: only you can prevent wildfires.
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: Brought to you by the USDA Forest Service, your state forester,
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: and the Ad Council. Remember, always be generous with the nutmeg.
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: Just eyeball it.
- 1:25:43Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:25:43Speaker 22: Mom's wisdom has served you well, but now it may
- 1:25:47Speaker 22: be your turn to guide her.
- 1:25:49Speaker 24: Hey, I'm worried about Mommy. She keeps forgetting her famous
- 1:25:52Speaker 24: sweet potato pie recipe.
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: Some things come with age, sis.
- 1:25:55Speaker 20: And some don't.
- 1:25:56Speaker 22: Knowing the early signs of Alzheimer's in a loved one
- 1:25:59Speaker 22: will help you make the best decisions for your family.
- 1:26:02Speaker 22: Visit 10signs. org to learn the signs. Brought to you by
- 1:26:05Speaker 22: the Alzheimer's Association and the Ad Council.
- 1:26:09Speaker 24: Choosing to buy a gun was not a decision I
- 1:26:11Speaker 24: took lightly. But with everything going on, I really wanted
- 1:26:14Speaker 24: to feel like I could protect myself. I hadn't thought
- 1:26:17Speaker 24: about the danger of an unlocked gun in my own home.
- 1:26:19Speaker 6: Too.
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: Mia, where are your napkins? Not that drawer.
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: Unless anyone needs a gun.
- 1:26:28Speaker 24: Now, I always lock my gun to keep everyone safe.
- 1:26:32Speaker 24: Visit nfamilyfire.org to learn how to store your guns more securely.
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: Brought to you by Brady and the Ad Council.
- 1:26:40Speaker 18: I'm a pretty great multitasker. I can wash dishes and
- 1:26:43Speaker 18: do laundry. I can roller skate while walking my dog.
- 1:26:46Speaker 6: Woo!
- 1:26:47Speaker 18: I can even order lunch while doing my homework. But
- 1:26:50Speaker 18: I can't use my phone while driving. A distracted driver
- 1:26:54Speaker 18: is one of the leading causes of death in the
- 1:26:56Speaker 18: United States. So when it comes to driving, please, don't
- 1:26:59Speaker 18: be a multitasker.
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: Don't drive distracted.
- 1:27:02Speaker 26: A message brought to you by the National Highway Traffic
- 1:27:04Speaker 26: Safety Administration, Project Yellow Light, and the Ad Council.
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: And now, back to the sports jar, Wayne Gandy.
- 1:27:15Speaker 22: Players Lounge.
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: You have been given full access to the Players Lounge
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: on the Sports Jack Show with Wayne Gandy.
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: It's yours. Whose world is this? The world is yours.
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: The world is yours. It's mine, it's mine, it's mine.
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: Whose world is this?
- 1:27:37Speaker 2: It's yours.
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: It's mine, it's mine, it's mine.
- 1:27:43Speaker 10: Welcome back to the Sports Talk Show.
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: I'm the Sports Talk Wayne Candy. I still believe that
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: y'all need to stall Tony Romo out. Let Romo back
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: on air. A little lightweight DUI. We all had a
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: little lightweight DUI, am I right? It's O-W-I in Wisconsin.
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: Operating while intoxicated. In Wisconsin, it's O-W-I. Okay, okay. So
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: let the man back on air. They trying to get
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: out of that contract. All Dallas quarterbacks are alcoholics. It's
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: part of the game. It's Dallas culture. All the way
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: back to Roger Staubach. Don Meredith. Randy White. Danny White.
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: Danny White. Yeah. All of them been alcoholics. Troy State.
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: With some brown liquor. Even Quincy had a glass, a bottle.
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: Quincy actually had to go to rehab. My man. My man.
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: It's because they drank with Jerry Charles. He got a
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: 30 for 30 coming out. Quincy went. Yeah, my man.
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: He got the crack. That's what I said, my man.
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: I'm sorry, sir. I saw Quincy, too, brother.
- 1:28:55Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: Drew Bledsoe started a wine company. He was scratching his shoulder.
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: Like Rachel. Hey, man, bro. Hey, don't have no laughs, man.
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: We at Topgolf. Drew Bledsoe started a wine company, so
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: he's trying to make profit off of it. That's a
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: rite of passage with the cowboy. I'm telling you, they
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: drink with Jerry. Do you care if Tony Romo, as
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: long as he does whatever they tell him, pay his fine,
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: go to his classes, did he do his job at
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: CBS broadcast now? No, let him back. Let him back.
- 1:29:24Speaker 8: I mean, it's been like that for years.
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: I think they're trying to get out of the contract.
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: I think they're trying to get him out of the contract.
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: This is a small thing, and they're trying to get
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: him out of it. Well, he'll go to another network.
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: I mean, you know, somebody. Yeah, but not for that money, though.
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: They want to get rid of that contract and hire
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: him back like he injured. Like pro teams do. Okay.
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: I see what you're saying now. Yeah, I'll go somewhere else.
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: I still want you, but since you got a torn ACL, though.
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: We're going to cut you, but we're going to sign
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: you to the practice squad. We only got 10. That
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: old contract, you making 30. We want you back at 10.
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: Because you're hurt. Not really hurt. Mark Sanchez, he files
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: guilty plea for charges related to stabbing incident in Indy,
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: October 2025, so about a year ago, assaulting a truck
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: driver while intoxicated. Mark Sanchez, who was also broadcasting But
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: don't give Mark his job back, though. Why not? He's
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: stabbing people. He stabbed somebody. Your alcoholism took you to
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: stabbing a man. I thought the man stabbed him. Yeah,
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: I thought it was self-defense. He stabbed, yeah. He just
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: pleaded guilty. Sanchez was stabbing. Ain't no more. He said
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: he did it. Well, we didn't all stab somebody to
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: the right. Am I right? We didn't all stab somebody
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: in self-defense. No. Okay. Okay. No, no, no. Maybe your
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: elementary school was different than mine. Mine was different.
- 1:30:55Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: You must have went to elementary with Stewie. Yeah. We
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: used to collect together. So there it is with those
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: two people, the Dallas Cowboys and their quarterback, Mark Sanchez.
- 1:31:10Speaker 18: Yes.
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: They were on air a long time, but I can't
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: help with Mark Sanchez. Emmitt Smith accused of diverting two
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: and a half million in an alleged Ponzi scheme from
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: Native American investors. This was filed August 31st. Not Emmitt, man.
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: Not Emmitt. Mike, Troy, Nate Newton. Charles Haley, all of them.
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: I got them. Not Emmitt, though. No, Charles. Not Charles. Who?
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: You don't think?
- 1:31:46Speaker 14: No.
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: Yeah, Charles running his own trap house. But not Emmitt, though.
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: Can y'all believe Emmitt? They just using Emmitt name because
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: he was on something. No, I can't believe it. Not Emmitt.
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: Not Emmitt. I'm going to have to vote against it.
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: Not Emmitt.
- 1:32:03Speaker 7: Somebody used Emmitt as a pawn. I mean, you never
- 1:32:10Speaker 7: know what's in a person's heart, but I would hate
- 1:32:12Speaker 7: to believe that Emmitt was out there scamming people. And
- 1:32:15Speaker 7: then with the whole Native American thing, you know that's
- 1:32:18Speaker 7: going to look real bad in federal court.
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: That's going to look real bad in federal court. Speaking
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: of great running backs, is Derrick Henry the greatest running
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: back that ever lived? And that pause right there. is
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: what solidifies that the conversation is real. I'm not saying
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: he is, but that you have to pause and start
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: to try and think who's better. Who's better? Because that
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: was my next question. Who's better than Derrick Henry? Who
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: is better than Derrick Henry? Right now? The greatest that
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: ever lived?
- 1:32:55Speaker 17: Yes.
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: You're talking about Emmitt Smith, Barry Sanders, Walter Payton. Oh,
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: Jason Wilson, yeah. My favorite, Earl Campbell. But when you
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: think of all of those people, if you don't see
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: them in Derrick Henry. Marcus Allen. If you don't see
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: those people in Derrick Henry. Derrick is third now all
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: time in running back touchdown. He's elusive. He's already in
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: the top five in yardage. He's on year 12. He's
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: as elusive as Barry was. He's as dominatingly powerful as
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: Earl Campbell was. was he's as exciting to watch as
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: Emmett and Walter Payton with his burst of speed. What
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: does he not have that all of these other guys
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: have displayed? He's tough and resilient like a Jim Brown.
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: Yesterday he went for, I think, 21 carries for 140.
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: Two dudes on his back for 30 of them yards.
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: He carried the dude over threshold. But it's a great conversation, though.
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: That's what I'm just saying. Derrick Henry, you have to
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: start considering him as that. And the only reason I
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: say that is because sometimes we get nostalgic and we
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: get locked into. Elder Casey mentioned Barry and Jim Brown.
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: It's almost like that commercial that Cheryl Swoops does with
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: the goats. Have you seen it? And if you listen
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: to the end, She says, well, if you're going to
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: have the GOAT conversation, you got to leave room. You
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: got to leave the future open. You can't just lock
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: up your GOAT and decide that's it. Because what about
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: when the next guy comes? Yeah, yeah. So the names
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: you mentioned, we jumped all the way back to Walter Payton.
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: who was dead when Derrick Henry was born. Like that's
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: how far we've jumped back and not even really counting
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: Derrick Henry. That's what I'm saying. Still running full forward
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: at 33 years old. Doesn't seem like he's slowing down
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: at all. You know, the case says it's a matter
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: of personal preference, but ball don't lie. Numbers don't lie.
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: I think he'll, he'll be in the conversation when, but
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: what I guess what I'm asking, what else does he
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: have to do? What would he have to do that
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: he hasn't done? We didn't mention OJ. He was cold.
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: Defenses are afraid of Derrick Henry. And now that they
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: put Lamar Jackson under center and Derrick Henry in a
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: position where he can get downhill. Lamar Jackson has never
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: been under center. Yesterday, he went under center. I don't
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: know why y'all got rid of that. that the quarterback
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: cannot play the position from under center. The shotgun position
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: has always been around, but you mixed it up. You
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: went from under center to sometimes shotgun to you went
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: back and forth to throw the defense off. Lamar Jackson
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: took the snap and let Derrick Harry get downhill. 270 pounds,
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: full force speed. DBs stopped. Not to get stiffed on.
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: Like they literally stop. He does this and they stop
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: for a second. Like when your mama say, boy. They
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: stop and give up four more yards. And they look
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: at each other like, come on, man. He runs four
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: more yards like this. Come on, let's get it. And
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: the DVD still sitting here like you're just going to
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: let the man get the first down. So think about it.
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: I'm not saying he is. I'm saying you have to start.
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: If he continues what he's doing. And if he's not,
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: who is? That's what I keep asking. If he is not,
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: then who is? There are guys that we've named that
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: have had that title. I'm not saying that he can't
- 1:36:59Speaker 1: be considered that, but I'm just thinking that he's still playing. Yeah,
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: he's still playing. He can still make his case, but
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: I can't say it right now while he's still playing.
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: That's just how I look at it. In this situation,
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: we use that. But when Jordan, after he won, y'all
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: deemed that he was the greatest of all time. And
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: he still played seven years more. So it's selective with
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: that too, when they make that statement. So it's, oh, no,
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: he's greatest now. Well, he's still playing. Y'all didn't use
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: that then. The NFL Hall of Fame, yeah, I know
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: you guilty of it, definitely. The NFL Hall of Fame,
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: they're going to revamp. They're cutting their votes down to
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: about half. And instead of about 50 people voting, it's
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: going to be about 30 people voting. And to me,
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: this has all contributed to Bill Belichick. I think that
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: by not putting Bill Belichick in the Hall of Fame
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: last year, the credibility of the Hall of Fame disappeared. Completely.
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: So you made it now that I don't care who
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: goes into the Hall of Fame. You made it. It's
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: the same way the Pro Bowl fell off. Even during
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: my career, getting Pro Bowl status, even for me as
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: a player, started wavering when I would see it. guys
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: still get voted to the Pro Bowl and miss nine games,
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: miss 10 games. Well, how could you make the Pro
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: Bowl in a 16-17 game season and didn't even play
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: half of it? it became just repeat and you was
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: not even letting people, and it started losing its luster.
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: And I think that's what happened. And this move is
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: to revamp because then what's the Hall of Fame coach?
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: If Bill Belichick is not the greatest football NFL coach ever,
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: then who is? And he's still coaching.
- 1:39:19Speaker 18: Who is?
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: The closest guy is on four. I got so bored
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: of it, I went to college. I was done with that, man.
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: I done everything. I've done it all. So I'm gonna
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: just go down here to college, see if I can
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: turn around Carolina. You got them off to two and
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: O this year. I need a new challenge. Took a
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: team to 10 Superbowl, won seven of them. Seven, seven
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: out of 10. But he ain't going to get in.
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: I think that's why some of Tony Dungy got threw
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: off of NBC because Tony Dungy said he didn't vote
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: for Bill Belichick to go to the Hall of Fame.
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: We'll be back. More of the Sports Talk show right

- 1:42:53Speaker 1: Welcome back to the Sports Shock Show. I'm the Sports
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: Shock Wayne Gandy. Good morning to you out there in
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: listening land. Funny article I read, guys, since we have
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: last had a show about men skipping showers before dates
- 1:43:11Speaker 1: because they want to get their smell.
- 1:43:15Speaker 6: Up.
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: There's a name for it. Pheromones? Pheromones, something that draws
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: women that you're supposed to be giving off with your odor.
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: I've heard of pheromones, but... I forget the exact words.
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: You guys out here skipping showers, Big Guinea? It's called
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: pheromone maxing. Yes, pheromone maxing. Oh, pheromone maxing. So what
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: you do is you just don't shower for a day
- 1:43:46Speaker 1: or two before your date. So you can give off
- 1:43:49Speaker 1: maximum pheromone. Your pheromones are supposed to let the woman
- 1:43:54Speaker 1: know you're drawn to her. Most women call that musty. Yeah,
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: that's what I would call it. Most women. Now, I
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: don't know. I don't know.
- 1:44:04Speaker 7: I've never maxed my pheromones that way. I just go
- 1:44:08Speaker 7: with when I first became aware of pheromones decades and
- 1:44:12Speaker 7: decades ago, the understanding was that it was a subtle arousal.
- 1:44:17Speaker 7: that women could pick up on the scent when she
- 1:44:20Speaker 7: was attracted to you. It would be a, okay, that's
- 1:44:25Speaker 7: the sort of a nature chooses my mate more than my,
- 1:44:30Speaker 7: but now you're saying I'm going to go out here
- 1:44:32Speaker 7: and make her notice me because I'm a not shower.
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: And yeah, they still call that musty.
- 1:44:37Speaker 5: Okay.
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: I'm just telling you how it goes. Elder Casey online
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: just said, you just stink. Yeah, you know. When she
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: come in and say, hey, stink, come in, stink. But now,
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: if it attracts a woman, then you kind of know
- 1:44:50Speaker 1: what kind of woman you got now. No, I'm maxing
- 1:44:53Speaker 1: my pheromones. Okay, okay. That must be what 13-year-old boys do. Yeah,
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: you better go get some of them tag body wipes,
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: at least. Now they're justified. So make sure you pheromone
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: max before your date. So what are the cologne people
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: supposed to say now? Because you can't mix funk with
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: cologne because it turns into a whole different space. I'm
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: drowning out my pheromone, Max, if I go get your cologne.
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: And the cologne used to be what was supposed to
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: attract the women because they loved the scent. The freshness. Hey,
- 1:45:27Speaker 1: I'm just telling you the new trend. See? It got
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: grown men caught in the gap. The new trend. It's
- 1:45:33Speaker 1: the dude walking around musty with some new cologne on. Hey,
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: what about that stuff? Is this like that patio? You
- 1:45:39Speaker 1: want to increase your chances. What is it called? On
- 1:45:42Speaker 1: a date. Go without a bath. It's what they're recommending. Hey,
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: when you don't have a personality, don't take a bath.
- 1:45:52Speaker 1: That's what replaces it. That's a conversation piece, huh? Is
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: Sean Kemp a Hall of Famer? Gary Payton says Sean
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: Kemp should be in the Hall of Fame. Does he
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: have your vote? Remember the great Sean Kemp? The high flyer.
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: And the pause, did we all just pause? I don't
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: think we paused. Nobody immediately went no or yes. I
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: think they had to remember who Sean Kemp was. I
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: remember immediately who Sean Kemp was. I would say yes.
- 1:46:16Speaker 1: Because of what his career was, and we're primarily looking
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: at the Seattle years, I think he was a top
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: player compared to other guys who got into the Hall
- 1:46:34Speaker 1: of Fame that I think he had a better peak
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: time then. Babduse? Yeah, Rain Man should be in there,
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: you know, because he used to make it rain. Big Kenny?
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: I was today years old when I learned that he
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: was not in the Hall of Fame. I thought Sean
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: Kent had been in the Hall of Fame. I'm sorry. Gotcha. Well,
- 1:46:56Speaker 1: Gary Payton, it says he's going to keep pounding the
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: table for his former teammate to get in. When I
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: think of Sharon Kemp, I think of talent wasted. That's
- 1:47:10Speaker 1: what I think more of. I think talent wasted. A dunker.
- 1:47:17Speaker 1: Josh Smith. A dunker. The amazement makes you think he
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: was doing more, but he was just dunking. But when
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: I think of him, I don't remember any kind of like, ooh.
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: Sean Kemp. Yeah. He baked him. All right. I think
- 1:47:36Speaker 1: of Gary Payton throwing it up. And he getting it.
- 1:47:40Speaker 1: And who was that? Those years that Kenyon Martin catching
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: out of you. Richard Jefferson. He had a point guard
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: and an athlete. That. Now, if he makes it, as
- 1:47:52Speaker 1: I said, over the last couple of years, there's been
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: some guys you let in that I feel really opened
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: the door. Because if you did that, then Joe Johnson
- 1:48:01Speaker 1: has to go. Oh, Joe should be in there for sure.
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: You got to start letting some people in then. Sean
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: Kemp went. We'll see if Gary Payton got it right.
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: I think Amari Stoudemire and Chris Webber getting in. opened
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: the door for Sean Kemp to finally get in. This year,
- 1:48:25Speaker 1: you're saying? Yeah. It should be soon. Well, to me then,
- 1:48:30Speaker 1: I think Grant Hill opened that door.
- 1:48:32Speaker 6: Ooh. Ooh.
- 1:48:34Speaker 1: Because then Grant Hill would have been the same kind
- 1:48:36Speaker 1: of Sean Kemp. It was like a four-year window. of
- 1:48:39Speaker 1: some excitement plays, but then once he left Detroit, he
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: was a role player at best. Yeah. So you start
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: getting into that pool. So we'll see if Gary Payton,
- 1:48:53Speaker 1: but I can't question the glove. That was his teammate.
- 1:48:55Speaker 1: He understands what he brought to the field. Ben Shelton
- 1:49:00Speaker 1: losing at the U.S. Open. The biggest thing about the U.S.
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: Open to me this year was all the noise about
- 1:49:06Speaker 1: the fans and their rudeness. to the point that Wilmington
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: for next year is already put in place for all
- 1:49:15Speaker 1: these influencers. And should they take your phone at the
- 1:49:18Speaker 1: U S open? Is it time to do that? Hey,
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: it might be on to something. Well, something that it
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: seems like. I mean, it can be done now.
- 1:49:33Speaker 8: If you want to come and see what's going on,
- 1:49:35Speaker 8: you turn your phone in or leave it in the car.
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: It's if you want a, I think with like, with,
- 1:49:41Speaker 1: with Augusta National, it's a certain audience that you want,
- 1:49:46Speaker 1: a certain kind of fan that you want. For the U.S.
- 1:49:50Speaker 1: Open to do that, that would, they're saying, these are
- 1:49:54Speaker 1: the kind of people that we want at our tennis match.
- 1:49:58Speaker 1: What I mean is, not someone who is distracting because
- 1:50:01Speaker 1: they're making Instagram and TikTok videos during the match or
- 1:50:06Speaker 1: not following the decorum. Tennis is one of those sports
- 1:50:09Speaker 1: where there is that There is that decorum, just like
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: with golf. So if they do go this route, I mean,
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: it makes sense because they're trying to maintain what they've
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: always been doing. This is just something that has come
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: in and it's not bettering. It's not for the betterment
- 1:50:31Speaker 1: of the sport. So if they take that route, I
- 1:50:34Speaker 1: wouldn't be surprised if they actually do that. But you
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: have fans who never go.
- 1:50:37Speaker 8: Only golf tournament they go to is Augusta because it's
- 1:50:39Speaker 8: that thing to go.
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: So I would think the U.S.
- 1:50:42Speaker 15: Open.
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: They go and they understand the decorum with Augusta National. Well,
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: they'll let you know. If you don't follow, they'll let
- 1:50:49Speaker 1: you know. They will let you know. And that's the
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: same thing I'm saying to U.S. Open. Don't worry about
- 1:50:53Speaker 1: who you're going to lose. It's fan bases, whatever. Just
- 1:50:55Speaker 1: go to it. just like they're not they're not worried
- 1:50:58Speaker 1: about that yeah they want to take that route to
- 1:51:01Speaker 1: have the kind of environment they've always had then take
- 1:51:04Speaker 1: that then take those steps.
- 1:51:05Speaker 7: And we've never seen a time like this before until
- 1:51:08Speaker 7: the advent of social media where people would come to
- 1:51:12Speaker 7: a sporting event like the u.s open and try and
- 1:51:15Speaker 7: make themselves part of the event the actions on the
- 1:51:18Speaker 7: court we're not supposed to be in the stand that's
- 1:51:20Speaker 7: nothing new you see them gluing itself to the floor.
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: You know, it's coming. Since social media, people weren't doing
- 1:51:28Speaker 1: that back in the day. They do it now because
- 1:51:32Speaker 1: it gets instant reaction. I know the match I watched
- 1:51:34Speaker 1: at least four, maybe even six times, the cheer umpire
- 1:51:38Speaker 1: had to tell people about the flashes. And you could
- 1:51:43Speaker 1: see people, even groups of people doing filming, and they're
- 1:51:47Speaker 1: acting like the tennis match is not going on. That's
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: my point. We'll be back with more of the Sports
- 1:51:52Speaker 1: Talk show right after this. Don't go away.
- 1:52:04Speaker 9: More of the Sports Jock Show with Wayne Gamby is
- 1:52:07Speaker 9: coming up next.
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: And now let's talk about something exciting, life insurance.
- 1:52:12Speaker 12: Three-quarters of Americans believe that coverage represents a critical piece
- 1:52:15Speaker 12: of financial security, yet only 49% actually have life insurance.
- 1:52:20Speaker 4: When I was 25, me and my wife were just
- 1:52:22Speaker 4: getting started with our family and thought we lived forever.
- 1:52:24Speaker 1: Life insurance was the last thing on my mind. What
- 1:52:26Speaker 1: about you? Will you be leaving benefits or bills?
- 1:52:30Speaker 4: When I was 40, with a kid in college and
- 1:52:31Speaker 4: bills piling up, I was worried how my family would
- 1:52:33Speaker 4: survive without me. That's when I made an appointment with

- 1:53:11Speaker 1: And now, back to the sports jar, Wayne Gandy.
- 1:53:16Speaker 2: Now, it's time for the scoreboard, where we put a
- 1:53:19Speaker 2: spin on life and sports and how they intermingle on
- 1:53:24Speaker 2: the Sports Jock Show with Wayne Gandy.
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: They tried to make me go to rehab. I said no, no, no. Yes,
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: I've been black, but when I come back, no, no, no.
- 1:53:43Speaker 1: I ain't got the time. Welcome back to the Sports
- 1:53:48Speaker 1: Shock Show. I'm the Sports Shock, Wayne Gandy. Colin Kaepernick
- 1:53:52Speaker 1: claims players, excuse me, NFL player coalition sold out anthem
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: protests and points fingers at Malcolm Jenkins and Quan Bolton
- 1:54:03Speaker 1: as for selling out with the player coalition, basically that
- 1:54:08Speaker 1: they didn't stand with him and allow the NFL to
- 1:54:13Speaker 1: blackball him. I remember when all this happened with Colin Kaepernick,
- 1:54:18Speaker 1: and I remember trying to get people to understand that
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: whatever Colin Kaepernick was searching, he was going to be
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: at this state in his life. He got swept away
- 1:54:30Speaker 1: in a movement that I don't know that he necessarily
- 1:54:35Speaker 1: meant to spark or meant to take him in that direction.
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: But when you play ball and you do something like
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: a sport that you're already gonna spend most of your
- 1:54:52Speaker 1: life reminiscing on the moments of it, because football ends
- 1:55:00Speaker 1: and the thing you can do the greatest, you can't
- 1:55:03Speaker 1: do anymore. So you live with the ghost of it.
- 1:55:10Speaker 1: And the ghosts are bigger when you feel unfulfilled, that
- 1:55:16Speaker 1: you didn't get to fulfill your journey. Colin Kaepernick didn't
- 1:55:20Speaker 1: get to fulfill his journey. I think somebody sold him
- 1:55:25Speaker 1: to do the Muhammad Ali and he thought he was
- 1:55:29Speaker 1: going to be able to get back in. But Muhammad
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: Ali truly worked an assessed pool of corruption. The boxing
- 1:55:40Speaker 1: world is built on that. The NFL is not. They
- 1:55:49Speaker 1: don't try to pretend. I don't mean that they don't
- 1:55:51Speaker 1: have shady characters that own teams. It's just not their
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: business model. And now it seems that he's trying to
- 1:56:00Speaker 1: keep himself relevant. He went a couple of years where
- 1:56:02Speaker 1: he kept trying out or he keeps... breathing air into
- 1:56:07Speaker 1: something that it seemed like he didn't realize. Had been deflated.
- 1:56:11Speaker 1: It's going to go on. And it does go on.
- 1:56:17Speaker 1: And no matter from high school to college to pros,
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: the coaches always tell you that. It's going to go on.
- 1:56:22Speaker 1: No matter how big of a star you are, football
- 1:56:25Speaker 1: did not shut down because Tom Brady retired. It didn't.
- 1:56:29Speaker 6: No.
- 1:56:30Speaker 1: It doesn't. One of the coldest moments you can have
- 1:56:34Speaker 1: as a football player is when they move the drill.
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: You be at practice, you're the star player. You go
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: down for injury. Coach says, move the drill right down
- 1:56:42Speaker 1: there and run the play.
- 1:56:44Speaker 19: Right.
- 1:56:44Speaker 1: And leave you right there. In the middle of the field.
- 1:56:47Speaker 1: And you have this moment like, dang, so y'all ain't
- 1:56:49Speaker 1: going to stop practicing? Y'all supposed to be calling the game.
- 1:56:53Speaker 1: Y'all supposed to be calling the opponent and telling them. Man,
- 1:56:56Speaker 1: my boy hurt to cancel the game. My boy hurt. Reschedule.
- 1:57:00Speaker 14: And.
- 1:57:01Speaker 1: It's one of those enlightening, and you might not experience that.
- 1:57:04Speaker 1: But it seems even in this, and I don't want
- 1:57:07Speaker 1: to get into particulars because I just bring it up
- 1:57:11Speaker 1: that I feel for Colin Kaepernick because I know, but
- 1:57:14Speaker 1: you have to live. He's 38, 39 years old. You
- 1:57:16Speaker 1: don't have to live that you never got to do
- 1:57:20Speaker 1: what you really wanted. You wanted to play football. You
- 1:57:22Speaker 1: might have also wanted to be a freedom fighter. I
- 1:57:27Speaker 1: got a question. Real question. The way you went about it,
- 1:57:34Speaker 1: the 32 owners called each other and was willing to
- 1:57:37Speaker 1: give you a check. We good. Let him go. That's
- 1:57:42Speaker 1: what they was willing.
- 1:57:43Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:57:43Speaker 1: Remember, they wrote him a check. You say we collude? Okay, man.
- 1:57:49Speaker 1: They hit him with the Eric Monte. And let him ride.
- 1:57:53Speaker 1: It seemed like that's not satisfying until before we gave
- 1:57:56Speaker 1: you the check. He said Anquan Bolden and who was it, Patrick?
- 1:58:01Speaker 1: Malcolm Jenkins. Malcolm Jenkins.
- 1:58:02Speaker 8: That's what I was going to say. Him and Eric
- 1:58:04Speaker 8: Reid got a check. But you're saying that these guys
- 1:58:07Speaker 8: didn't stand with you. You didn't throw them. nothing off
- 1:58:10Speaker 8: of that check.
- 1:58:11Speaker 1: Well, I think the NFL, just like with Colin, they
- 1:58:13Speaker 1: gave Colin a check. They gave the coalition– a check
- 1:58:18Speaker 1: as well to help them with whatever programs they were
- 1:58:22Speaker 1: going to use. And if you remember, they wrote him
- 1:58:25Speaker 1: a check like, okay, y'all want to start some programs
- 1:58:27Speaker 1: in the community. And then the, the, the, the overriding, uh,
- 1:58:32Speaker 1: Story that came out of that was that the commission
- 1:58:35Speaker 1: and the coalition and the people couldn't get along on
- 1:58:38Speaker 1: what should be done with the money.
- 1:58:42Speaker 8: A smart woman we all know told me one time,
- 1:58:44Speaker 8: you want people to go away, write a check, 20.
- 1:58:46Speaker 1: So you didn't realize the people that was writing the
- 1:58:48Speaker 1: check was okay. With you. They're a company. They call
- 1:58:54Speaker 1: each other, look, hey man, it's going to cost all
- 1:58:56Speaker 1: of us a million a piece. You ain't wrote the
- 1:58:59Speaker 1: check yet? Okay. call the secretary.
- 1:59:02Speaker 7: Matter of fact, it's going to cost us a million apiece.
- 1:59:06Speaker 1: I went on and paid it. Y'all just get it
- 1:59:08Speaker 1: back to me when you can. Oh, so you're saying
- 1:59:11Speaker 1: Jerry just went on and wrote the check. Listen, Jerry,
- 1:59:13Speaker 1: you already got it. Y'all just wrote me back.
- 1:59:16Speaker 7: If I see you, you know, get me when you can, bro.
- 1:59:19Speaker 1: Jerry or Robert Kraft wrote that check. Or maybe even
- 1:59:23Speaker 1: the man from San Francisco. It might have been Jed York.
- 1:59:27Speaker 1: He got it. Just let me use it. The mega
- 1:59:33Speaker 1: yacht next summer. Yeah. And then we'll call it even.
- 1:59:37Speaker 1: We'll call it. And he can't play now. Remember that.
- 1:59:41Speaker 1: Nobody signed him. If he can't play, I got to
- 1:59:45Speaker 1: get the Lake House. That's my up front. That's your
- 1:59:48Speaker 1: only stipulation.
- 1:59:49Speaker 7: That's my only stipulation for having paid up front is
- 1:59:51Speaker 7: y'all get it back to me when you can. But
- 1:59:54Speaker 7: nobody signs this guy.
- 1:59:56Speaker 1: I better not see him on the field. And that's
- 1:59:58Speaker 1: what happened. They probably didn't have to do that. They
- 2:00:00Speaker 1: just said, no. They just decided themselves, no. You won't
- 2:00:05Speaker 1: probably go away, write a check. And we are in
- 2:00:09Speaker 1: the ocean. The truth is, he will throw your ass
- 2:00:15Speaker 1: in the ocean.
- 2:00:17Speaker 2: It's time to wrap things up on the Sports Jack
- 2:00:20Speaker 2: Show with Wayne.
- 2:00:51Speaker 1: When you're the size of the ocean, it gives the
- 2:00:53Speaker 1: sports shop just a minute to vent. We'd like to
- 2:00:54Speaker 1: thank you for tuning in to today's show. Big Kenny,
- 2:00:57Speaker 1: Comanche Greg, Bad Producer. Thank you for your contributions today.
- 2:01:02Speaker 1: If you missed any of the show, you can catch
- 2:01:04Speaker 1: the rebroadcast, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Podcasts, Audible, Deezer, iHeartRadio, Spotify,
- 2:01:13Speaker 1: as Comanche Greg uploads as we go off The air.
- 2:01:18Speaker 1: This past Friday, a big moment in our country came around.
- 2:01:25Speaker 1: 25 years. And I just wanted to make sure I
- 2:01:28Speaker 1: took the time because I didn't really get the feel.
- 2:01:31Speaker 1: Something about it, I thought maybe it should just be
- 2:01:33Speaker 1: a day off. 25 years. 9-11. C-Minute. And it's C-Minute
- 2:01:42Speaker 1: because when I rolled over Tuesday morning, which is day
- 2:01:48Speaker 1: off back in those days. Only day you really got
- 2:01:51Speaker 1: to sleep in. I rolled over. I thought I had
- 2:01:56Speaker 1: left the TV on some movie. And I kept looking
- 2:02:02Speaker 1: at the screen thinking what action movie this is. Is
- 2:02:10Speaker 1: this a Bruce Willis flick? I was really, because I
- 2:02:12Speaker 1: didn't have the sound on. I just had the TV on.
- 2:02:17Speaker 1: And I looked up and they said this was real.
- 2:02:24Speaker 1: And I think we should always remember how close that
- 2:02:26Speaker 1: is because that happened in our time. And it gave
- 2:02:31Speaker 1: me my first taste of really understanding because that was
- 2:02:37Speaker 1: the first time it was at home for a lot
- 2:02:39Speaker 1: of us. That war does happen and people can attack
- 2:02:45Speaker 1: even though you can DoorDash your food and all the
- 2:02:50Speaker 1: rest of the stuff. FaceTime everybody. Something like that can happen.
- 2:02:56Speaker 1: So after 25 years, don't forget 9-11, those victims. Josh,
- 2:03:05Speaker 1: I still remember your dad, brother. I know it still
- 2:03:11Speaker 1: impacts you as one of the firefighters that died that day.
- 2:03:16Speaker 1: So from the Sports Chalk Show, we remember 9-11 since
- 2:03:21Speaker 1: this is our first show since that time. But we
- 2:03:25Speaker 1: hope you enjoyed the show. If you missed it, check
- 2:03:27Speaker 1: the replay out. As I said, guys, thank you for
- 2:03:29Speaker 1: your contribution. And we hope you have a good afternoon. Peace.
