- 5:14Speaker 2: one might be painful for you to hear, ladies. Steve Perry,
- 5:22Speaker 2: the original singer from Journey seventy seven. You remember Steve
- 5:33Speaker 2: Perry in those tight jeans back in the late seventies
- 5:38Speaker 2: early eighties. Of course you do.
- 5:42Speaker 3: Again.
- 5:42Speaker 2: We're at twenty six right now here in the Granite City,
- 5:46Speaker 2: we have this Arctic blast and this is all this
- 5:48Speaker 2: detail is from NBC five. The Arctic Blast, I don't
- 5:56Speaker 2: know what the hell we call it, the polar vortex
- 5:58Speaker 2: or whatever the hell is cold expected to bring near
- 6:03Speaker 2: record cold this weekend and and New York some of
- 6:06Speaker 2: the coldest air, and I mean this is right off
- 6:09Speaker 2: the NBC Channel five page, some of the coldest air
- 6:13Speaker 2: in several years. Saturday and Sunday. By late Friday night
- 6:17Speaker 2: into early Saturday, overnight low is can range from twenty
- 6:21Speaker 2: below zero.
- 6:25Speaker 3: To zero.
- 6:28Speaker 2: That's air temp, while windshills going to be hovering anywhere,
- 6:35Speaker 2: depending on where you are, from ten to thirty five
- 6:40Speaker 2: degrees below zero. Yeah, higher elevations even colder. So you know,
- 6:53Speaker 2: Friday night, Saturday night, don't go snowshoeing up on top
- 6:56Speaker 2: of the mountain. Okay, midnight skiing probably not the best idea.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Saturday is going to be brutally cold. We have the
- 7:06Speaker 2: basketball tournament this weekend on Saturday and Sunday, so we're
- 7:10Speaker 2: gonna be out and about and running around.
- 7:15Speaker 3: That's gonna be fun.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Kids, Maybe if your parents aren't paying attention, don't when
- 7:27Speaker 2: you arrive at these basketball tournaments. Don't get out of
- 7:32Speaker 2: the car with your shorts on and make it from
- 7:36Speaker 2: the car to the gym on Saturday or Sunday. Put
- 7:41Speaker 2: some sweatpants on. D time high tempts staying below zero
- 7:49Speaker 2: all day on Saturday, wind chills ranging anywhere from thirty
- 7:55Speaker 2: below to ten below. Dangerous to be outside for extended
- 7:59Speaker 2: pers of time. I'm paraphrasing here, and I'm adding in
- 8:05Speaker 2: my own stuff here. Stupid to be outside for even
- 8:11Speaker 2: a short period of time if you're exposing skin. So again,
- 8:18Speaker 2: don't be running around with the shorts on it.
- 8:23Speaker 3: It's just not smart.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Although I am going to tell you about my friend
- 8:30Speaker 2: are young here and it's just a little bit and
- 8:31Speaker 2: what he's up to stand by for that. Saturday night,
- 8:38Speaker 2: winds are going to ease up a little bit, skies
- 8:40Speaker 2: are going to be clear. Temperature is going to drop
- 8:43Speaker 2: real hard. Overnight low is expected to fall between twenty
- 8:49Speaker 2: to five below. That's air temp. Wind chills ranging from
- 8:55Speaker 2: thirty below zero, maybe forty below if you're in a
- 9:01Speaker 2: little elevation, that's the price that you pay for that
- 9:09Speaker 2: beautiful view, Stacy. We're wondering what you got down in
- 9:13Speaker 2: Fort Pierce, Florida.
- 9:15Speaker 3: This morning.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Sunday morning is still going to be extremely cold. Again,
- 9:22Speaker 2: this is all from NBC five. They do such a
- 9:24Speaker 2: great job, by the way, with the weather. I'm always
- 9:27Speaker 2: paying attention to what they're posting. Thame's going to be
- 9:29Speaker 2: ranging a Sunday morning from thirty below zero in the
- 9:33Speaker 2: mountains to fifteen below zero in the valleys. Windchill's going
- 9:40Speaker 2: to be between thirty and fifteen below. This again is
- 9:43Speaker 2: Sunday morning. By Sunday afternoon, tem's going to begin to
- 9:47Speaker 2: recover slightly, making it above zero in the valleys Mountains
- 9:55Speaker 2: still going to be around ten below zero and a
- 10:00Speaker 2: tempts expected to remain colder than normal into early next week. Again,
- 10:06Speaker 2: we are at twenty six degrees enjoying the warmth here
- 10:10Speaker 2: in Barry. Snowshowers possible around two o'clock this afternoon. We're
- 10:14Speaker 2: going to make it up to about thirty three tonight,
- 10:17Speaker 2: partly cloudy snow showers fifteen, Tomorrow, cloudy snow showers twenty
- 10:25Speaker 2: and that's you know. The deep free starts out Friday night.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Saturday sunshine and negative one for the daytime high Sunday,
- 10:36Speaker 2: cloudy skies, snow showers and anywhere between five and eight
- 10:45Speaker 2: degrees on Sunday. My friend, are young, our young vendor
- 10:59Speaker 2: Shoot my buddy from Holland who is the iceman of
- 11:06Speaker 2: the North Country right here in Vermont. I think he's
- 11:10Speaker 2: down Woodstock Way. I'm trying to reach him this morning,
- 11:16Speaker 2: but he's a cold plunger. And if you haven't yet
- 11:24Speaker 2: visited the Facebook page Arctic Bliss or our Young vandor
- 11:33Speaker 2: shut on his personal page on Facebook, you ought to,
- 11:40Speaker 2: even if just for entertainment's sake, This guy is first
- 11:48Speaker 2: of all, He's an incredible dude, so inspiring, so motivating.
- 11:54Speaker 2: He has a pond in his backyard and he goes
- 11:57Speaker 2: out and smashes a big hole in the pond, takes
- 12:04Speaker 2: his clothes off, well most of his clothes, I think,
- 12:10Speaker 2: and cold plunches all the time and reaps the benefits
- 12:22Speaker 2: the dopamine dump, the adrenaline hit, the lack of inflammation
- 12:31Speaker 2: in his body, the mental toughness, the attitude. Everything that
- 12:39Speaker 2: he does before, during, and after cold plunching is amazing.
- 12:45Speaker 2: This guy is real. He knows a lot about it.
- 12:48Speaker 2: He's getting into waterfalls during the winter. He does ice
- 12:54Speaker 2: bathing everywhere and brings the community. And he's having a
- 13:00Speaker 2: h an ice bathing party on Saturday that he is
- 13:14Speaker 2: so graciously invited me to, maybe knowing that I've got
- 13:20Speaker 2: to go pro maybe And he's having a few people
- 13:27Speaker 2: over and yeah, they're gonna have a you know, they're
- 13:30Speaker 2: gonna have a fire going, they're gonna be serving up
- 13:34Speaker 2: hot sighter afterwards. But he's gonna have several people in
- 13:42Speaker 2: his pond this Saturday, Saturday morning. I don't know what
- 13:50Speaker 2: the temperature is. He usually goes live. Uh, I may
- 13:57Speaker 2: be there kind of depends on on my life in

- 17:58Speaker 2: that's great. Looking ahead to February Night to Shine February thirteenth,
- 18:06Speaker 2: Friday Night at the Buryoux Lodge. I was told yesterday
- 18:10Speaker 2: by Trey. One hundred honored guests are going to be there.
- 18:16Speaker 2: One hundred. That's a record, and check this out. And
- 18:21Speaker 2: we've been trying to push for volunteers and help them
- 18:25Speaker 2: out with this. Tim Tebow Night to Shine. One hundred
- 18:29Speaker 2: and eighty volunteers are registered. That's amazing. This is going
- 18:36Speaker 2: to be one incredible night for so many people. Amy's
- 18:40Speaker 2: Armoir is in need of pay it Forward donations, by
- 18:43Speaker 2: the way for Night to Shine for guests to cover
- 18:47Speaker 2: the cost of their formalware. So you know, if you
- 18:53Speaker 2: can help out with that, that would be great. It's
- 18:56Speaker 2: really easy. You just simply go into Amy's Armoir right
- 19:01Speaker 2: here on North Main Street and say, hey, I'd love to,
- 19:06Speaker 2: you know, give ten bucks or whatever to the pay
- 19:09Speaker 2: It Forward fund to help out anyone who is, you know,
- 19:13Speaker 2: looking to get some formalware. So it's a great thing.
- 19:18Speaker 2: I love it. I love the fact that Amy's arm
- 19:21Speaker 2: More does this. I love the fact that the Faith
- 19:24Speaker 2: Community Church right here in Barry is hosting this now
- 19:28Speaker 2: for what I think it's year number four if I'm
- 19:32Speaker 2: not mistaken. But Trey and Robin and Amy and all
- 19:38Speaker 2: of the volunteers, all of the businesses and organizations in
- 19:42Speaker 2: and around central Vermont that come together for this one night,
- 19:46Speaker 2: for one hundred folks, to give them one amazing evening
- 19:55Speaker 2: to show them love and appreciation and mostly love. Is
- 20:01Speaker 2: just incredible. I wouldn't miss.
- 20:03Speaker 3: It for the world. And of course I'll be there
- 20:06Speaker 3: with my buddy. Oh never have never missed.
- 20:09Speaker 2: One Facebook question of the day this morning, and I'm
- 20:18Speaker 2: going to see if if I can connect in here
- 20:23Speaker 2: with a friend of mine who can probably speak to this.
- 20:34Speaker 2: I know that there's a lot of us running around
- 20:37Speaker 2: right now with the flu, and it's from what I hear,
- 20:44Speaker 2: really bad. My question of the day this morning is
- 20:53Speaker 2: to flu vacs or not to flu vacs for you?
- 21:01Speaker 2: And I know the Vermont Department of Health and US
- 21:04Speaker 2: Department of Health and Human Services says that Vermont is
- 21:08Speaker 2: going to continue to follow its established childhood immunization schedule.
- 21:20Speaker 2: It was in the World newspaper they also caution on
- 21:25Speaker 2: and I think this is I think this is great
- 21:27Speaker 2: to say this on sharing or acting on unverified or
- 21:34Speaker 2: misleading health information. It is so important to think objectively
- 21:41Speaker 2: about this, make a decision on your own, maybe with
- 21:50Speaker 2: some chat with any school nurse, your pharmacist, pediatrician, someone
- 21:59Speaker 2: who is maybe dialed into some of the facts of
- 22:06Speaker 2: what's going on with this strain right now, and seeing
- 22:13Speaker 2: if I can sneak a friend of mine on who
- 22:17Speaker 2: got the vaccination and got the flu and got it good.
- 22:26Speaker 2: I mean he is, he's on the back side of it,
- 22:32Speaker 2: but he's lost his voice. He's lost his voice, poor dude, Devin.
- 22:40Speaker 2: And if I can get him on, I will. But man,
- 22:48Speaker 2: you know, it's it's such a hot button. And we
- 22:54Speaker 2: see everywhere Walgreens, Walmart, CVS, Kinney Drugs, we see everywhere
- 23:03Speaker 2: in the hospital free flu shots. What say you? And
- 23:13Speaker 2: many of you are like, oh, I'm not that's a
- 23:16Speaker 2: personal question. I'm not going anywhere near that one. And
- 23:19Speaker 2: that's fine. So, you know, I don't know. It's I
- 23:30Speaker 2: want to hear from you. Are you getting the flu
- 23:34Speaker 2: shot this year? And if so, why and if not why,
- 23:44Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 23:46Speaker 3: Personal decision.
- 23:47Speaker 2: And respect those that are going to get the shot
- 23:51Speaker 2: or going to get the shot for their kids, and
- 23:55Speaker 2: respect those that don't. I know about this other string
- 24:01Speaker 2: that's that, this other variant that's that's going on. You know,
- 24:05Speaker 2: they do the best they can to try to predict
- 24:08Speaker 2: what it's going to be. And what I've heard, and
- 24:12Speaker 2: I don't, you know, it's just what i've heard seen Red,
- 24:16Speaker 2: is that the boat was kind of missed a little
- 24:21Speaker 2: bit on this one, and that several people that have
- 24:28Speaker 2: received the vaccination got the flu. Anyway, knock on wood,
- 24:38Speaker 2: I've been healthy so far, and I think a lot
- 24:41Speaker 2: of the you know, listen, definitely the furthest thing from
- 24:48Speaker 2: an expert on this stuff, but I think a lot
- 24:49Speaker 2: of it depends on how well you're taking care of yourself.
- 24:55Speaker 2: Are you running around with shorts and t shirt on
- 24:58Speaker 2: when you shouldn't be. Are you getting enough sleep? Are
- 25:02Speaker 2: you eating right? Are you you're or are you just
- 25:05Speaker 2: eating a bunch of crap? Are you drinking enough water?
- 25:09Speaker 2: Are you getting some exercise? Basic things here? And if
- 25:15Speaker 2: you're if you're not doing any of those things, I
- 25:21Speaker 2: don't know that the vaccination is going to prevent you
- 25:24Speaker 2: from getting sick, and you could start out as a
- 25:28Speaker 2: head cold and then go full whack into the flu.
- 25:35Speaker 3: Take care of yourself.
- 25:40Speaker 2: Tomorrow morning, Keith Cushman, our chief, is going to be
- 25:46Speaker 2: on the air with me. We are going to talk
- 25:50Speaker 2: about some safety tips that you need to consider going
- 25:56Speaker 2: into this weekend with this cold snap, UH, Department of
- 26:03Speaker 2: Safety everywhere across the whole state. Public works is going
- 26:11Speaker 2: to be busy, police, fire, first responders, emptis all that
- 26:16Speaker 2: city employees dealing with all things related to the cold.
- 26:23Speaker 2: Some tips for what you can do at home to
- 26:26Speaker 2: prevent freeze ups, frozen pipes and whatnot, we'll have that
- 26:30Speaker 2: for you. And yeah, and of course we're gonna have
- 26:36Speaker 2: a whole bunch of fun too with Gee, we're gonna
- 26:38Speaker 2: have some laughs tomorrow morning. But we've got some serious
- 26:40Speaker 2: stuff to get to too. And I'll say I'll say
- 26:44Speaker 2: this and I'm gonna say it tomorrow morning too. Outside
- 26:47Speaker 2: of all of this stuff, probably one of the most
- 26:51Speaker 2: important things that you can do is pass on the
- 26:56Speaker 2: information that we've been sharing about the overnight shelters, the
- 26:59Speaker 2: warm shelters, and also taking care of your neighbors and
- 27:11Speaker 2: making sure that they're okay.
- 27:17Speaker 3: Uh.
- 27:17Speaker 2: And that that's something that I know that I sound
- 27:21Speaker 2: like a broken record with it. I say it all
- 27:24Speaker 2: the time, I say it every time it gets cold,
- 27:27Speaker 2: but I mean it. You just if you have a neighbor,
- 27:33Speaker 2: a friend that is vulnerable in any way, maybe they're disabled,
- 27:42Speaker 2: maybe maybe they're just elderly. You gotta connect with them,
- 27:52Speaker 2: maybe even today ahead of this and make sure that
- 27:56Speaker 2: they've they're gonna be okay during this cold you know,
- 28:00Speaker 2: tell them did open up their cabinets so that the
- 28:03Speaker 2: pipes can get more heat than they normally do. Warn
- 28:08Speaker 2: them about you know, space heaters and whatnot, electric blankets
- 28:11Speaker 2: being left on fire hazards. Berry City Police Department posted
- 28:19Speaker 2: up earlier this morning that today is Homelessness Awareness Day
- 28:28Speaker 2: and that ironically we're experiencing these brutal, frigid temperatures heading
- 28:34Speaker 2: into the weekend. So if you know, as it says here,
- 28:39Speaker 2: anyone who needs overnight shelter during these temperatures, please reach out.
- 28:44Speaker 2: Everyone deserves a safe and warm place to sleep. That
- 28:51Speaker 2: is test Tailor, by the way, also is going to
- 28:55Speaker 2: be joining me tomorrow morning by phone.
- 28:57Speaker 3: And it's going to be a busy day, it really is.
- 29:01Speaker 2: But we've got all of the shelter information that we've
- 29:05Speaker 2: been posting up and we encourage you to not only
- 29:09Speaker 2: give it a read, but also maybe maybe make something
- 29:15Speaker 2: and bring it over and donate it, or volunteer your
- 29:21Speaker 2: time in one of these overnight shelters if you can
- 29:24Speaker 2: they're going to be hopefully filled right up. The last
- 29:30Speaker 2: thing we want is for another tragedy to happen in
- 29:35Speaker 2: our community or any community anywhere where someone who is
- 29:40Speaker 2: vulnerable for whatever reason, it doesn't matter that they lose
- 29:45Speaker 2: their life. So think about this, okay, just have it
- 29:51Speaker 2: in your mind. In the Vermont headlines yesterday, does of
- 30:04Speaker 2: folks gathered at the state House to call for new
- 30:09Speaker 2: protections for Vermont's immigrant communities. The awareness campaign has been
- 30:19Speaker 2: dubbed the No Secret Police Campaign.
- 30:26Speaker 3: What do you think about this?
- 30:29Speaker 2: Organizers said they are advocating for more accountability and transparency
- 30:35Speaker 2: when it comes to enforcement operations in Vermont. This is
- 30:39Speaker 2: all over Channel five and WCAX. The gathering was a
- 30:49Speaker 2: partnership that includes the ACLU of Vermont Migrant Justice and
- 30:56Speaker 2: the Vermont Asylum Assistance Project. Legislators were there too as
- 31:06Speaker 2: part of this So interesting, what say you.
- 31:12Speaker 3: About it?
- 31:14Speaker 2: Vermont's unemployment rate, as I read in the World newspaper,
- 31:20Speaker 2: has increased to two point six percent just recently. By
- 31:30Speaker 2: the way, in the United States it's four point six percent. Well,
- 31:36Speaker 2: what do you think about? What do you think about that?
- 31:39Speaker 3: Is that?
- 31:40Speaker 2: Is that anything that's alarming? To you vermontors looking for work,
- 31:44Speaker 2: local businesses looking to hire, and the relationship between the two.
- 31:51Speaker 2: Just a couple of months ago, Vermont's labor force decreased
- 31:58Speaker 2: to around thirteen one hundred, or by around thirteen hundred.
- 32:07Speaker 2: Number of employed people decreased by just over fourteen hundred.
- 32:17Speaker 2: Department of Labor. Their website, labor dot Vermont dot gov
- 32:24Speaker 2: has info on job fares, employment opportunities, hiring events. All
- 32:34Speaker 2: of that encourage you to hop on have a look
- 32:36Speaker 2: at that. And you know, I don't know, were you
- 32:48Speaker 2: paying attention to the governor's State of the State address,
- 32:55Speaker 2: watching listening to any of that? Were you're paying attention to?
- 33:06Speaker 2: His nine point four billion dollar budget address Tuesday afternoon
- 33:16Speaker 2: touched on a lot of issues, of course, housing and education,
- 33:24Speaker 2: Public safety. Says he aims to fix Vermont's broken criminal
- 33:32Speaker 2: justice system in this session. I think it's going to
- 33:38Speaker 2: take a lot more than just this session. Call me crazy.
- 33:45Speaker 2: Says that he wants to crack down on juvenile offenders
- 33:48Speaker 2: and curbing repeat offenders. Said the criminal justice policies are
- 33:57Speaker 2: out of balance and that too long, offender's interests have
- 34:03Speaker 2: been prioritized over victims. In my opinion, ain't that the
- 34:11Speaker 2: truth wants to crack down on juvenile offenders Tuesday and
- 34:16Speaker 2: in or as well, and in that speech on Tuesday
- 34:22Speaker 2: asked to raise the age legislation for nineteen year olds
- 34:29Speaker 2: to be repealed this session. Wants lawmakers to take action
- 34:35Speaker 2: on his proposals from last session to give prosecutors the
- 34:39Speaker 2: ability to charge violent offenders who are under nineteen years
- 34:43Speaker 2: old in criminal court for serious crimes. And the repeat
- 34:52Speaker 2: offender thing, which wow, if I see the words if
- 34:59Speaker 2: I had a dollar for every time I saw the
- 35:02Speaker 2: word repeat offenders just in one day on social media,
- 35:11Speaker 2: or if I had a dollar for every time I
- 35:13Speaker 2: saw the words catch and release on social media, local
- 35:21Speaker 2: social media. The budget testimony began yesterday. But uh, there's
- 35:31Speaker 2: a there's a lot of work that needs to be done. Man,
- 35:37Speaker 2: we all know it. The backlog is crazy, absolutely insane.
- 35:48Speaker 2: Scott was quoted saying we've reached a point where there
- 35:52Speaker 2: are no consequences for not showing up at all.
- 35:58Speaker 3: To court.
- 36:00Speaker 2: That's the definition of a broken system. Over a quarter
- 36:07Speaker 2: of the current backlog involves people with five or more
- 36:13Speaker 2: pending criminal cases. There are too many released pre trial
- 36:22Speaker 2: who ignore court orders and court dates, and face little
- 36:25Speaker 2: or no accountability for violating conditions of release or failing
- 36:29Speaker 2: to appear. Said that his budget increases base funding to
- 36:40Speaker 2: expand pre trial supervisions statewide and also invest in additional
- 36:47Speaker 2: two million for more addiction treatment and recovery efforts to
- 36:53Speaker 2: curb crime and abuse in the state. Good number of
- 37:03Speaker 2: Vermonters that are saying, good luck with that. I don't know.
- 37:17Speaker 2: We'll see what happens God, but this little Green Mountain state, Man,
- 37:23Speaker 2: we got some we got some we got some work
- 37:25Speaker 2: to do. Man, we got some areas that are just
- 37:32Speaker 2: do I think that there are plenty running around under
- 37:38Speaker 2: the Golden Dome with their head in the sand.
- 37:43Speaker 3: I think there's a good number. Yeah.
- 37:47Speaker 2: I also think that there's several that have a pretty
- 37:54Speaker 2: good idea but maybe don't have the solution. But man
- 38:04Speaker 2: to all of our problems. But we've got to start
- 38:07Speaker 2: figuring some stuff out here and from hot man, Oh crap.
- 38:11Speaker 2: And it's not just infrastructure, and it's not just drugs,
- 38:16Speaker 2: and it's not just crime, and it's not just mental
- 38:20Speaker 2: health and education and housing and health insurance. I know
- 38:25Speaker 2: the list is stacked a mile long. We've got a
- 38:29Speaker 2: lot of work to do. National headlines. Did you before
- 38:37Speaker 2: I get into them, did you get a chance to
- 38:39Speaker 2: see any of the northern lights the other night? Man,
- 38:45Speaker 2: It's like, I know, this big solar storm that is
- 38:53Speaker 2: all over the United States, everybody's seeing the northern lights
- 38:57Speaker 2: except JD.
- 38:59Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 39:00Speaker 2: It was probably thirty years ago that I saw the
- 39:03Speaker 2: northern lights for the first time, and it's like the
- 39:06Speaker 2: other night, it's just again missed it. Maybe at this
- 39:14Speaker 2: solar storm is going to continue with the northern lights
- 39:17Speaker 2: here over.
- 39:18Speaker 3: The next few days.
- 39:19Speaker 2: If it is, if it's supposed to, let me know,
- 39:26Speaker 2: I just don't want to, you know, stand outside it
- 39:28Speaker 2: freezing my ass off in the backyard, just standing there
- 39:32Speaker 2: looking up with the sky, waiting for the northern lights.
- 39:39Speaker 3: National headlines.
- 39:41Speaker 2: WHOA Justice Department subpoena's five Democratic leaders in Minnesota, including
- 39:49Speaker 2: Govenor Tim Waltz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Fry. It's part
- 39:55Speaker 2: of the investigation into the alleged impending of immigration enforcement.
- 40:06Speaker 2: So these are just the headlines. I don't know if
- 40:10Speaker 2: I'll be taking a deep dive on any of this.
- 40:13Speaker 2: I'm just clansing here, Supreme Court. Here's oral arguments on
- 40:18Speaker 2: Hawaii's so called vampire rule, requiring gun owners with concealed
- 40:26Speaker 2: carry permits to ask permission before entering private property open
- 40:31Speaker 2: to the public, including restaurants and stores. Ask permission. Okay,
- 40:46Speaker 2: Moving right along. National Weather Service warning of this major
- 40:51Speaker 2: winter storm starting Friday that could weigh down trees and
- 40:54Speaker 2: trigger power outages from Texas to the Carolinas. The swath
- 40:59Speaker 2: of this thing is huge. Thirty six states are going
- 41:06Speaker 2: to be impacted by this storm to varying levels.
- 41:12Speaker 3: Thirty six states.
- 41:14Speaker 2: This is like multiple storms all coming together hanging out,
- 41:19Speaker 2: and like Oklahoma is supposed to get like what fourteen inches,
- 41:24Speaker 2: which is way out of the ordinary. Nashville I think
- 41:29Speaker 2: is supposed to get like right around that too, at
- 41:32Speaker 2: least a foot I'm hearing. Seems like this big sucker
- 41:39Speaker 2: is mostly you're going to be pushing to the mid
- 41:43Speaker 2: Atlanta through the Mid Atlantic before heading out and up
- 41:49Speaker 2: here in the North Country we're going to get the uh,
- 41:53Speaker 2: the northern edge of it and not. I don't know, man,
- 41:57Speaker 2: It's like I got a couple of friends of freaking
- 41:59Speaker 2: out here. We're supposed to get three feet of snow JD.
- 42:01Speaker 2: How come you're not paying attention. Didn't you know that?
- 42:04Speaker 2: And then I've also heard JD calm down. We're supposed
- 42:10Speaker 2: to get like three inches maybe five tops eight, not
- 42:16Speaker 2: two feet anyway from what I what I gather here
- 42:23Speaker 2: and what I was reading this morning from a channel five.
- 42:26Speaker 2: It's supposed to be spread out over the course of
- 42:28Speaker 2: like you know, Friday through like Tuesday, an inch here,
- 42:33Speaker 2: three there, maybe five, but eight ish total for central
- 42:43Speaker 2: Vermont before all is said and done.
- 42:45Speaker 3: Eight ish.
- 42:48Speaker 2: Of course, if you're in the higher terrain by the
- 42:50Speaker 2: time Wednesday, Tuesday, Wednesday gets here, you might be looking
- 42:54Speaker 2: at closer to ten.
- 42:55Speaker 3: Don't quote me.
- 42:57Speaker 2: The former Uvaldi School's police officer, who was among the
- 43:02Speaker 2: first to respond to the mass shooting at a Texas
- 43:06Speaker 2: elementary school, has been acquitted of criminal charges that he
- 43:10Speaker 2: failed his duty to confront the gunman. House Republicans have
- 43:26Speaker 2: advanced a resolution to hold former President Bill Clinton and
- 43:30Speaker 2: former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in contempt of Congress
- 43:36Speaker 2: over the Jeffrey Epstein investigation. These are the headlines. The
- 43:44Speaker 2: Supreme Court seems inclined to keep Federal Reserve Governor Lisa
- 43:52Speaker 2: Cook in her job, casting doubt on President Trump's bid
- 44:01Speaker 2: to rest control of the nation's central bank. Trump cancels
- 44:12Speaker 2: his tear of threat in his push for control of Greenland.
- 44:17Speaker 2: Were you watching that last night?
- 44:19Speaker 3: Any of that.
- 44:27Speaker 2: The abrupt about face emerged hours after Trump had insisted
- 44:34Speaker 2: that he wants to get Greenland, including right title and ownership,
- 44:41Speaker 2: but said that he would not use force to do so,
- 44:48Speaker 2: and vowing that NATO should not try to block US expansionism.
- 44:55Speaker 2: Apparently we've got a nice deal that's in the making
- 45:02Speaker 2: right now, whatever that means. Hopefully we'll find out some
- 45:16Speaker 2: more details here in the coming hours today regarding that.
- 45:23Speaker 2: But I don't know, man, there's a lot of countries
- 45:30Speaker 2: that are ticked off, and I'm trying to think, read, digest,
- 45:38Speaker 2: decipher all of this stuff as objectively as I can.
- 45:45Speaker 3: But there's a stench. It doesn't smell great. I don't know.
- 45:55Speaker 2: Maybe we'll get the furbreeze out sometime and will all
- 46:00Speaker 2: be beautiful.
- 46:01Speaker 3: I don't know. I'm trying to stay positive here. Let's see.
- 46:08Speaker 2: Trump moves to block Wall Street from buying single family
- 46:11Speaker 2: homes in a sweeping new executive order, arguing the practice
- 46:20Speaker 2: has priced American families out of home ownership and turn
- 46:23Speaker 2: neighborhoods into corporate assets rather than places to live. The
- 46:29Speaker 2: order directs multiple federal agencies to limit federal support for
- 46:33Speaker 2: such purchases, and calls on the Justice Department and Federal
- 46:37Speaker 2: Trade Commission to step up antitrust scrutiny of large institutional
- 46:42Speaker 2: investors in the housing market. Yesterday, he unveiled his plan
- 46:50Speaker 2: to make housing more affordable. Elements of the plan are
- 46:56Speaker 2: believed to include limited institutional ownership of single family homes,
- 47:03Speaker 2: allowing home owners to keep their old mortgage rate when
- 47:08Speaker 2: they move, interesting penalty free early withdrawal from four oh
- 47:17Speaker 2: one K accounts to fund a down payment, which I
- 47:22Speaker 2: was talking about a couple of days ago last week.
- 47:25Speaker 2: I can't remember, but I was talking about that on
- 47:28Speaker 2: the air and asked you what you thought about that?
- 47:33Speaker 2: And man, I've seen I don't see anything in the
- 47:37Speaker 2: in the middle.
- 47:38Speaker 3: Here.
- 47:38Speaker 2: I see great idea, wonderful idea, and I hear horrible idea,
- 47:46Speaker 2: not sustainable. I'm gonna do more harm than good. I've
- 47:54Speaker 2: seen both sides. I have a friend that I would
- 48:02Speaker 2: love to sneak on the air who is and I'm
- 48:09Speaker 2: going to see if I can contact him and see
- 48:10Speaker 2: if he'll come on. This guy is on a mission
- 48:18Speaker 2: to change the way that homes are built using three
- 48:26Speaker 2: D printing, and he has started a company that he says,
- 48:35Speaker 2: builds homes for thirty percent less than a typical home
- 48:41Speaker 2: and at a fraction of the time. Technology is crazy,
- 48:52Speaker 2: crazy good, maybe crazy not so good. But I'm going
- 48:56Speaker 2: to see if I can get him on the air
- 49:00Speaker 2: and have him maybe lightness.
- 49:06Speaker 3: Let's see the.
- 49:09Speaker 2: Story about the guy Ian Ludlow extradited to face charges
- 49:14Speaker 2: following the police shooting. That story is pretty hot right now.
- 49:20Speaker 2: Jamie Gomez eighteen years old. What a mugshot too? Did
- 49:24Speaker 2: you see that last night? Handsome dude receiving treatment for
- 49:31Speaker 2: gunshot wound at Dartmouth and was returned to Vermont yesterday.
- 49:41Speaker 2: We'll see what happens the world's economic form in Switzerland. No,
- 49:52Speaker 2: Rusty Dewez is not there for that, I can assure you.
- 49:59Speaker 2: But Trump announced a potential framework deal concerning Greenland and
- 50:07Speaker 2: says he reached this deal with NATO during this meeting
- 50:15Speaker 2: or during this speech to world leaders, and that JD.
- 50:25Speaker 2: Vance and Marco Rubio are now leading the discussions to
- 50:31Speaker 2: finalize the details of the deal and says, we'll have
- 50:39Speaker 2: more details for you soon. Stay tuned.
- 50:44Speaker 3: I don't know. Maybe those details are breaking right now
- 50:47Speaker 3: in front of me. I don't know. There's some career,
- 50:53Speaker 3: there's crazy stuff going on. It's crazy stuff.
- 50:57Speaker 2: Going on, the new diet guidelines, Oh my god, it's
- 51:03Speaker 2: just everything.
- 51:09Speaker 3: You know.
- 51:13Speaker 2: Trump prides himself on the art of the deal, but
- 51:23Speaker 2: could this be the ultimate test of the art of
- 51:30Speaker 2: the deal. Do you think his negotiating style is working
- 51:42Speaker 2: well and creating trust with America's closest allies, or do
- 51:56Speaker 2: you think it's creating trust issues. That's what I asked
- 52:05Speaker 2: you this morning. Go about it objectively, keep your eyes
- 52:11Speaker 2: open tomorrow morning. Gee's gonna come in. Twenty twenty six
- 52:21Speaker 2: has arrived red hot, and there's some stuff going on.
- 52:27Speaker 2: And I know the whole Beckham drama thing is big
- 52:33Speaker 2: right now. I know a lot of people are talking
- 52:34Speaker 2: about that. But We're gonna have some fun tomorrow morning,
- 52:44Speaker 2: and I'm gonna tell you about some of the wacky
- 52:50Speaker 2: for lack of a better term, because I can't think
- 52:52Speaker 2: of any anything else wacky stuff that is going on
- 53:01Speaker 2: already in twenty twenty six, aside from politics. G loves
- 53:11Speaker 2: culture I love culture too. Tomorrow we're gonna tell you
- 53:18Speaker 2: about a new dating trend called hot take dating, and
- 53:30Speaker 2: we're gonna laugh and we're gonna have some fun with this.
- 53:34Speaker 3: Trust me.
- 53:35Speaker 2: Tomorrow it's gonna be a doozy as we get ready
- 53:40Speaker 2: to kick off one frigid freaking weekend again. Test Tailor
- 53:45Speaker 2: gonna be on with me tomorrow talking about the overnight
- 53:48Speaker 2: warming shelters here in our communities. Also, Keith Cushman, our
- 53:56Speaker 2: fire Chief's gonna be on with me talking about some
- 53:59Speaker 2: safety tips, things you need to be aware of, things
- 54:01Speaker 2: you need to know.
- 54:03Speaker 3: If you're here.
- 54:05Speaker 2: In the dark frigid tundra of Vermont, don't miss it
- 54:13Speaker 2: tomorrow morning. All right, be well, take good care. Thank
- 54:18Speaker 2: you tuning in this morning. Thanks for sharing your coffee
- 54:21Speaker 2: with me. And if you like the podcast, tell your friends,
- 54:25Speaker 2: give it a share, give it a like, give it
- 54:27Speaker 2: a comment, push it along. Thanks for tuning in. Be well,
- 54:33Speaker 2: take good care, God bless, try to stay warm, and
- 54:36Speaker 2: most importantly, please check on your neighbors and your friends
- 54:43Speaker 2: and make sure that they're gonna be okay during this
- 54:46Speaker 2: cold snap. All right, we'll see you tomorrow morning here
- 54:48Speaker 2: on the aired out podcast, The Bott
