- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean I think we've we've pushed them pretty
- 0:02Speaker 1: hard and I think they responded, uh, pretty well. You know,
- 0:05Speaker 1: the biggest things we learned to finish across the board.
- 0:08Speaker 1: I got a lot of new guys, especially on the
- 0:09Speaker 1: defensive sides. So you know, the best way to me
- 0:12Speaker 1: to bond them is is hard work together. And you know,
- 0:16Speaker 1: there's been days we embrace that better than others. But uh,
- 0:19Speaker 1: but overall, I think we're moving the right direction. It's
- 0:20Speaker 1: just a long ways ago. We got to make sure
- 0:22Speaker 1: we make progress every day. Anyone stood out to you
- 0:25Speaker 1: the new guys defensive line, maybe specifically. Yeah, I mean, look,
- 0:29Speaker 1: it's a it's a day to day, a play to
- 0:33Speaker 1: play process on that. So it's like, yeah, there's guys
- 0:35Speaker 1: all over flashing, you know, but who can be consistent
- 0:38Speaker 1: on it and who can do it when it gets hard?
- 0:41Speaker 1: You know? Ever, then practice that's one thing, or early
- 0:43Speaker 1: in camp that's one thing. Okay, when you're in helmets
- 0:45Speaker 1: that's one thing. It's a whole another deal. And it's
- 0:47Speaker 1: real football, you know. So I think we're figuring that out.
- 0:50Speaker 1: How do you get ready for real football? You know?
- 0:52Speaker 1: Out of the first week, you know, we tackling that
- 0:54Speaker 1: feels like that's why something to make progressive season goes on. Yeah, no,
- 0:57Speaker 1: you're one hundred percent right. I mean, I don't think
- 1:00Speaker 1: anybody that's watching this would say we did a very
- 1:02Speaker 1: good job of that last year on defense. So you know,
- 1:05Speaker 1: the biggest thing is continue to work all those fundamentals
- 1:07Speaker 1: every single day. Coach Moore does a great job of
- 1:09Speaker 1: putting us in positions with a physical camp, you know, defensively,
- 1:13Speaker 1: and so it's stressing every single finish every single day
- 1:15Speaker 1: because not every play can be live. But anytime your
- 1:19Speaker 1: thud tempo or you're in a situation where it's even
- 1:21Speaker 1: tag off or whatever your leverages, your finishes, you know,
- 1:24Speaker 1: straining to get eleven hats the ball. I mean, that's
- 1:26Speaker 1: the stuff we're trying to focus on every day, which
- 1:27Speaker 1: every defensive coach in America says it, but we got
- 1:30Speaker 1: to get them to do it. You can have the
- 1:32Speaker 1: new system last year. Is it any easier year too,
- 1:35Speaker 1: even with a lot of new people, Yeah, I had
- 1:37Speaker 1: we if we had all those guys back, could be
- 1:39Speaker 1: you know, So no, to be honest with you, no,
- 1:42Speaker 1: but I but I'll say this again again, and I'm
- 1:46Speaker 1: not just saying it to say it the way coach
- 1:47Speaker 1: Moore sets up his year round schedule and allows us
- 1:51Speaker 1: to develop them in that regard. You know, these guys
- 1:54Speaker 1: have done a really nice job. And the truth, this
- 1:56Speaker 1: is the truth. We've pushed them harder schematically from a
- 2:00Speaker 1: you know, learning capacity standpoint than I did last year
- 2:03Speaker 1: last year, did you know? And right, wrong or a
- 2:06Speaker 1: different time will tell, but that's what we've done. Uh So,
- 2:09Speaker 1: And they've done a nice job of buying into that.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Is that based on the fact that they're more veteran
- 2:14Speaker 1: players and they played a lot of football, yes and no, yes,
- 2:20Speaker 1: and know some of that is that some of that
- 2:22Speaker 1: is you know, I think back, and I mean you
- 2:24Speaker 1: got to valuate yourself too, you know, and and you
- 2:26Speaker 1: go into some of those games and and I look back,
- 2:29Speaker 1: and I say, well, did we have everything we needed?
- 2:32Speaker 1: You know? Did I give them every bullet in the
- 2:33Speaker 1: chamber to be successful? So, uh you never would to
- 2:36Speaker 1: overload them, but you also want to make sure you
- 2:38Speaker 1: expose them to enough that you can adapt and be
- 2:43Speaker 1: versatile enough to give offenses different looks and and so
- 2:46Speaker 1: that's the plan we've we've taken. You know, when you
- 2:49Speaker 1: evaluate the year before, Like in the offseason, what sort
- 2:51Speaker 1: of numbers are you mostly being attentions to everything? I mean,
- 2:55Speaker 1: you just you know, look for me at least. I mean,
- 3:00Speaker 1: you know, you're never satisfied with any of it. So
- 3:01Speaker 1: you're just looking at every single rock you can turn
- 3:04Speaker 1: over to try to improve, right, And and then you're
- 3:06Speaker 1: also trying to evolve and see how people are attacking
- 3:09Speaker 1: you and and what vulnerabilities you've shown on film and
- 3:12Speaker 1: how people might try to expose those down the line.
- 3:14Speaker 1: And so it's all of it, you know what I mean,
- 3:17Speaker 1: it's all of it. Like you look at us, Okay,
- 3:18Speaker 1: we third down defense was really good. Okay, first second
- 3:21Speaker 1: down to hum It's actually wasn't that good. You know,
- 3:23Speaker 1: we's got filming third now. Okay. Red zone defense far
- 3:26Speaker 1: as touchdown percents, it was really good, Okay, but you know, uh,
- 3:29Speaker 1: we didn't take a ball away very well. So I
- 3:30Speaker 1: mean there's just so many things that you can improve upon,
- 3:34Speaker 1: and so I look at all of them. You've got
- 3:36Speaker 1: Jackson Mitchell helping out. How's that working out so far?
- 3:40Speaker 1: Him being around the team, Like is it helpful to
- 3:41Speaker 1: have a former Husky like that that can really relate
- 3:44Speaker 1: to what these guys are going through. I think. So,
- 3:46Speaker 1: I mean, I think you got you know, you got Jackson,
- 3:48Speaker 1: You've got Ronte run around and you know, I didn't
- 3:51Speaker 1: coach Jackson, so that's a little bit different at least Ronte.
- 3:53Speaker 1: You know, he's the good thing about Ronte is Ronte
- 3:55Speaker 1: is a guy that's been here and you know, I
- 3:57Speaker 1: came in and he probably looked cross side at me
- 3:59Speaker 1: early on, like who is this guy? What in the
- 4:01Speaker 1: world is he doing? And you know, and bought into it,
- 4:04Speaker 1: and so he can be a liaison there for all
- 4:06Speaker 1: these new guys. Jackson is just a great presence because
- 4:10Speaker 1: he's been here, done that. These guys know him. I mean,
- 4:12Speaker 1: they know him better than I know him. I mean,
- 4:14Speaker 1: And but you know, he's gonna be a good coach.
- 4:16Speaker 1: He's a he's a good person. First of all, he's
- 4:18Speaker 1: a smart guy. He works really hard, and so those
- 4:20Speaker 1: are the ingredients for a good coach. As far as
- 4:22Speaker 1: the launch pad, so been pleased to have him. What
- 4:25Speaker 1: are some of the biggest challenges when you're trying to
- 4:27Speaker 1: incorporate you know, so many new guys in the next Oh, well,
- 4:31Speaker 1: all of it, right, I mean, The biggest thing is
- 4:33Speaker 1: I don't mean to be you know, sarcastic, but I
- 4:35Speaker 1: mean the truth is you've got schematics right and all that. Okay,
- 4:40Speaker 1: that's all good and that's all important. But I mean
- 4:43Speaker 1: if they don't gel and work hard together and come
- 4:46Speaker 1: together when they get punched in the mouth sort of speak,
- 4:49Speaker 1: then that, to me, that's the fear, right that, Like,
- 4:51Speaker 1: that's the biggest difference. You asked that question saying, all right,
- 4:53Speaker 1: last year, them guys had to get used to me, okay,
- 4:56Speaker 1: but they don't have to get used to each other.
- 4:57Speaker 1: You know, they've been through some battles, okay, So now
- 5:00Speaker 1: well you got a group that's kind of used to
- 5:01Speaker 1: me and each other. And so that's the biggest thing.
- 5:03Speaker 1: And look, I mean people say I go take them
- 5:05Speaker 1: out to whatever dinner, take them out to a pool
- 5:08Speaker 1: party or paintball or whatever. Well I think the biggest
- 5:10Speaker 1: way you bond is doing really hard things with them,
- 5:12Speaker 1: you know, and push them through versu because that's one
- 5:14Speaker 1: thing that's guaranteed in football, and so that's what we
- 5:17Speaker 1: try to do, you know,
