- 0:20Speaker 1: A lot to get to today is real goody Eras
- 0:22Speaker 1: is off. He will hopefully be back with us tomorrow.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Trey Wingo going to join us at about fifteen minutes.
- 0:28Speaker 1: We have the week Ken observations as well a hour
- 0:32Speaker 1: number two, and Jason Hare, the director of a new
- 0:35Speaker 1: Novak Djokovic documentary which is coming out in a week
- 0:38Speaker 1: or so. He'll join us an hour number two as well.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Let's start here though, with Mikey A and Taylor. First off,
- 0:46Speaker 1: congratulations to Mikey A and his son's little league team.
- 0:51Speaker 1: They were Mikey, what they win? You're more excited than
- 0:53Speaker 1: he is. I know you're committed to this in a
- 0:56Speaker 1: way that he's not. So what did they win?
- 0:59Speaker 3: They won the New England Regional. They went as high
- 1:02Speaker 3: as they could go for their age group in Little
- 1:06Speaker 3: League and they won it all all right, so undefeated
- 1:08Speaker 3: through the regionals.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Well, congratulations to you, not to your son, just to you.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Your son doesn't care to me.
- 1:14Speaker 3: I listen, he didn't have to pay for the hotel
- 1:16Speaker 3: room for nine days. He didn't lose his voice screaming
- 1:19Speaker 3: for him. Yes, all he did was hit and play defense.
- 1:22Speaker 4: What do you do?
- 1:25Speaker 5: I paid and I screamed, that's right, and I danced.
- 1:31Speaker 1: I am very excited because we'll get to Taylor's winners
- 1:34Speaker 1: and losers from preseason week one.
- 1:36Speaker 4: I have done these during the regular season. I have
- 1:39Speaker 4: never done.
- 1:40Speaker 1: An addition of winners and losers for a preseason week one.
- 1:44Speaker 4: This is very exciting Taylor.
- 1:46Speaker 1: But let's start with Jackson Dart, because I believe Taylor
- 1:48Speaker 1: has some issues with the narrative surroundings Jackson Dart.
- 1:52Speaker 4: He took a monster hit.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Man like Jackson Dart doesn't need the offensive line's help
- 1:57Speaker 1: getting concussed, and the offensive line in a preseason game
- 2:02Speaker 1: just left him wide open to get nailed by a
- 2:05Speaker 1: linebacker and he had to go to the blue tent.
- 2:08Speaker 4: Why because that's where he lives.
- 2:09Speaker 6: Yeah, the running back missed the block, clear miss there.
- 2:14Speaker 6: My problem with this there feels like it's a disingenuous narrative.
- 2:19Speaker 6: Around Dart because yes, he goes to the blue Tent
- 2:22Speaker 6: a lot, but he doesn't really have the concussion issues
- 2:26Speaker 6: where people are tweeting about it. This tweet comes from
- 2:29Speaker 6: rang Sharp. Jackson Dart has made five trips to the
- 2:31Speaker 6: blue medical tent in a ten game span last year,
- 2:34Speaker 6: one game into twenty twenty six. One trip to the
- 2:36Speaker 6: blue medical tent simply not sustainable on the surface. Yes,
- 2:41Speaker 6: Jackson Dart is making trips to the Blue medical Tent
- 2:45Speaker 6: a lot, but he's only he's been cleared five out
- 2:49Speaker 6: of those six times where he goes to the blue tent. Right,
- 2:52Speaker 6: and the narrative around Jackson Dart feels like Jackson Dart
- 2:55Speaker 6: has to change the way he has to play. Jackson
- 2:57Speaker 6: Dart is this fragile quarterback in New York. Do I
- 3:00Speaker 6: think he has to adjust the way he plays a bit? Yes,
- 3:02Speaker 6: because some of the times when he runs it is
- 3:04Speaker 6: a bit reckless where he's just throwing his body to
- 3:07Speaker 6: the wind. But he's not Tua. And while I get
- 3:11Speaker 6: player safety is the ultimate goal, I'm kind of with
- 3:14Speaker 6: Jackson Dart where the sound of Jackson Dart being like,
- 3:17Speaker 6: I'm just as puzzled as anybody else why I keep
- 3:20Speaker 6: going to the medical tent where we're at the stage
- 3:22Speaker 6: where if you make contact with Jackson Dart, it's an
- 3:25Speaker 6: automatic visit to the blue Tent.
- 3:26Speaker 4: I think he enjoys going there. I do like retreat.
- 3:30Speaker 1: It's like a little home on the sideline for him.
- 3:32Speaker 1: He just hangs out in there. I mean, he's got
- 3:35Speaker 1: pictures of.
- 3:35Speaker 7: His family on the walls.
- 3:37Speaker 6: He hasn't like on Survivor, like a trick to the sanctuary.
- 3:41Speaker 4: He has a picture of the darts. Mikey, how do
- 3:48Speaker 4: you feel about this?
- 3:50Speaker 1: By the way, what Taylor is saying is he has
- 3:51Speaker 1: a high percentage when he goes into the blue tent.
- 3:54Speaker 1: He is coming out of the blue tent just about
- 3:56Speaker 1: every time and going right back on that football field.
- 4:00Speaker 5: He's batting eight hundred in no concussion.
- 4:02Speaker 3: I get that, But at the same time, you just
- 4:05Speaker 3: can't take those hits so often.
- 4:08Speaker 5: You're saying, he's not like Tua ware every time.
- 4:10Speaker 3: But Tua wasn't like Tua until he was like, at
- 4:14Speaker 3: some point, you're gonna get one of those hits that's
- 4:16Speaker 3: going to open the floodgates to all of the other
- 4:19Speaker 3: concussions that can come.
- 4:20Speaker 1: But I think what Taylor is saying, and I kind
- 4:22Speaker 1: of agree with him on this, and Jackson is saying
- 4:24Speaker 1: it as well. I was surprised by the mobility of
- 4:28Speaker 1: Jackson Dark coming from Mississippi into the NFL. I was
- 4:31Speaker 1: not aware he could run and was as athletic as
- 4:34Speaker 1: he has shown here through one year in the NFL.
- 4:37Speaker 1: And I think what Taylor is trying to say is,
- 4:39Speaker 1: don't take that part of the game out of Jackson,
- 4:41Speaker 1: don't make him think too much.
- 4:43Speaker 4: Let him just be.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Who he is and play quarterback because he appears to
- 4:46Speaker 1: be very good at it.
- 4:47Speaker 6: I mean, we're in a situation right now where every
- 4:50Speaker 6: spotter is on high alert every time Jackson Dart gets
- 4:53Speaker 6: hit where it's an automatic scent to the tent. And yes,
- 4:57Speaker 6: you're the NFL is trying to tech Jackson Dart. I
- 5:01Speaker 6: understand that, but taking him out of the game for
- 5:04Speaker 6: every time he gets touched where he's not getting hit
- 5:07Speaker 6: in the pocket more than the average quarterback, but he
- 5:10Speaker 6: is getting sent to the blue medical tent more. And
- 5:13Speaker 6: it's not like every time he's going he's getting he's
- 5:17Speaker 6: getting ruled out of the game with a concussion. He's
- 5:19Speaker 6: just coming back five plays later.
- 5:21Speaker 1: The NFL is not concerned about Just so we're clear,
- 5:23Speaker 1: not concerned about Jackson Dart. They're protecting themselves. They lost
- 5:27Speaker 1: a lawsuit, they lost the concussion lawsuit. It was hundreds
- 5:31Speaker 1: of millions of dollars paying all kinds of former players.
- 5:34Speaker 1: And of course they're gonna be cautious when it comes
- 5:36Speaker 1: to concussions and head injuries in the NFL. Literally, they're
- 5:39Speaker 1: losing money if it happens. I mean, guys are suing them.
- 5:42Speaker 6: Yes, My larger point is that I have a problem
- 5:44Speaker 6: with everybody saying that Jackson Dart has a concussion issue.
- 5:48Speaker 6: Just to be clear, if we want the right narrative out,
- 5:51Speaker 6: he has a blue tent issue.
- 5:54Speaker 5: He doesn't have a concussion issue yet.
- 5:57Speaker 3: But what he does have is he gets hit harder,
- 6:00Speaker 3: it seems than anyone.
- 6:02Speaker 4: Now.
- 6:02Speaker 3: He hasn't gotten the concussions, but there are a lot
- 6:04Speaker 3: of quarterbacks who have running as part of their game
- 6:07Speaker 3: that don't get hit the way he is getting hit. Like,
- 6:10Speaker 3: he has to learn how to get himself down in
- 6:14Speaker 3: a better way than he has been because right now
- 6:18Speaker 3: it is tee off on him and he's luckily not
- 6:21Speaker 3: getting the concussions. At the rate that the NFL seems
- 6:25Speaker 3: to think he might be getting them, but he is
- 6:27Speaker 3: still getting hit harder than say a Patrick Mahomes or
- 6:31Speaker 3: a Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson, all these guys who
- 6:35Speaker 3: run but don't get hit that way.
- 6:37Speaker 6: Yeah, but Mikey, don't you think there's something to it
- 6:39Speaker 6: where if Jackson Dart and Josh Allen both get hit
- 6:43Speaker 6: the same way, the people who are up there, who
- 6:47Speaker 6: are in charge of it, have more of a chance
- 6:50Speaker 6: of sending Jackson Dart to the blue tent because it
- 6:54Speaker 6: is Jackson Dart and we just, for some reason, just
- 6:57Speaker 6: keep sending him to the blue tent labor andover.
- 6:59Speaker 4: He has a history, Josh Allen does it.
- 7:00Speaker 1: I mean, I'm certain they're cautious with two as well,
- 7:03Speaker 1: don't you think, I mean, Jackson Dart does.
- 7:05Speaker 4: It's a short history.
- 7:06Speaker 1: And I granted he's walked into that blue tent six
- 7:09Speaker 1: times and five times he has come out and gone
- 7:11Speaker 1: back on the football field. But he does have issues
- 7:14Speaker 1: with head injuries. That's why they're being cautious, right.
- 7:17Speaker 6: I think he has the same amount of concussions as
- 7:20Speaker 6: somebody like Josh Allen.
- 7:22Speaker 7: Well, it's a.
- 7:23Speaker 5: Lot Allen's been playing for.
- 7:24Speaker 7: It's a lot shorter of a sample sizer.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Josh Allen goes into that blue tent. It's a cup
- 7:28Speaker 1: of coffee. I mean, I'm telling you it's a shot
- 7:31Speaker 1: of espresso. That guy is not in there for more
- 7:33Speaker 1: than thirty seconds. He walks in, gives someone a wink,
- 7:35Speaker 1: and he walked right back.
- 7:36Speaker 6: As he's not even giving somebody a wink. There's nobody
- 7:39Speaker 6: in that blue tent when Josh Allen, it's just him. Yeah,
- 7:41Speaker 6: it's the Homer sens.
- 7:43Speaker 7: In going in and out.
- 7:44Speaker 6: Like Josh Allen just goes in, he signs his name in,
- 7:47Speaker 6: and then he signs right back out.
- 7:49Speaker 5: He walks in and says, what the hell are the
- 7:50Speaker 5: darts doing hanging there?
- 7:51Speaker 4: And then he leaves.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Is there a mailbox here? And what are we doing
- 7:55Speaker 1: with the blue tent being the darts house? Do we
- 7:58Speaker 1: have a mailbox that to say that the arts on
- 8:00Speaker 1: it is the mail? But I guess everyone knows we're
- 8:02Speaker 1: just send Jackson dart nail. So let's get to winners
- 8:05Speaker 1: and losers from a preseason week number one.
- 8:08Speaker 4: Wow exciting, oh wow football winners and losers.
- 8:14Speaker 7: So I have three winners and three losers.
- 8:17Speaker 1: No one really won and no one really lost the
- 8:19Speaker 1: lead to you, I'm sorry.
- 8:24Speaker 6: I'll start with a winner. Wow, Fernando Mendoza.
- 8:30Speaker 4: Big time. He's good.
- 8:31Speaker 6: You could just look at Fernando Mendoza and right away, Stu,
- 8:35Speaker 6: he passes the eye test.
- 8:36Speaker 7: You look at him and you say that guy belongs.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Yep, no doubt, Yes he belongs. Kirk Cousins is going
- 8:41Speaker 1: to be the weak one started though he played well,
- 8:43Speaker 1: Kirk Cousins. But I am with you on Mendoza. He
- 8:46Speaker 1: looked the part that's important.
- 8:48Speaker 6: My biggest loser yep. Cam Ward really yeah. So I
- 8:54Speaker 6: was hoping to see a step with cam Ward. And
- 8:57Speaker 6: that's what you really want to see in a second
- 8:59Speaker 6: year quarterback. You want to see that step that they take.
- 9:01Speaker 4: It's a leap year. Yeah.
- 9:03Speaker 7: Is it a leap year or a step year?
- 9:04Speaker 4: He has to make a big lead. I don't know.
- 9:06Speaker 4: Put it on the poll. Is it a step year
- 9:08Speaker 4: or elite year for cam Ward?
- 9:09Speaker 7: And then when you're.
- 9:10Speaker 6: Watching cam Ward against the forty nine ers, the forty
- 9:13Speaker 6: nine ers rested as starters in the game, and Ward
- 9:16Speaker 6: was still five of twelve passing fifty seven yards fifty
- 9:19Speaker 6: six points six passer rating, and you guys are gonna
- 9:22Speaker 6: like this Titans play.
- 9:24Speaker 7: The Jets Week one. Yeah, I've now got that as
- 9:27Speaker 7: a Jets win.
- 9:29Speaker 4: I don't like that. Why would I like that? Why
- 9:31Speaker 4: would I like?
- 9:32Speaker 7: This Jets team is sneaky. You saw Garrett Wilson.
- 9:35Speaker 6: Garrett Wilson. Garrett Wilson's not going to be in my winners.
- 9:38Speaker 6: But Garrett Wilson is a winner.
- 9:41Speaker 4: Well, you can't be a winner and be on the Jets.
- 9:43Speaker 4: Put it on the poll. Can you be a winner
- 9:44Speaker 4: and be on the New York Jets.
- 9:46Speaker 7: You can't do it, Garrett Wilson. There, I believe Garrett
- 9:49Speaker 7: Wilson could be a top five.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers his entire career, winner, winner, clutch winner, winner,
- 9:54Speaker 1: get to the Jets bears the Achilles loser. I mean,
- 9:58Speaker 1: that's what happens when you go to the Jets. There
- 10:00Speaker 1: are no winners, just losers.
- 10:02Speaker 4: Can't do it.
- 10:04Speaker 7: You guys are so down on this Jets team. Why
- 10:06Speaker 7: I like this Jets.
- 10:07Speaker 4: Team forty years?
- 10:08Speaker 6: Yeah, but you know yesterday Yesterday's team is not today's team, right,
- 10:13Speaker 6: The team is different. The twenty sixteen Jets have no
- 10:16Speaker 6: impact on the twenty twenty six Jets. It's a new
- 10:19Speaker 6: year for Aaron Glenn, who's probably gonna be the first
- 10:21Speaker 6: coach fired.
- 10:22Speaker 4: You're right there.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Every year it's different, the team is different, the results
- 10:26Speaker 1: are exactly the same.
- 10:30Speaker 4: Any other winners for the weekend?
- 10:31Speaker 7: My next winner?
- 10:32Speaker 6: The more connection looks good, It looks really hate Savior. Yes,
- 10:39Speaker 6: I was thinking, is there a chance Dj Moore could
- 10:42Speaker 6: be the best receiver that Josh Allen has played with?
- 10:45Speaker 6: I know Stefan Diggs was great there and he said
- 10:46Speaker 6: a lot of franchise marks in Buffalo, but on paper,
- 10:50Speaker 6: talent wise, DJ Moore and Stefan Diggs go toe to
- 10:53Speaker 6: toe with each other.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Right, this is how it works, he is right now,
- 10:57Speaker 1: until they don't make it to the AFC Championship game
- 11:00Speaker 1: with the Super Bowl, and then it's DJ Moore's fault
- 11:02Speaker 1: and not Josh Allens.
- 11:03Speaker 4: Is that fair, Mikey.
- 11:04Speaker 1: That's usually the way it works with Josh ally bringing
- 11:06Speaker 1: another receiver, someone better than Dj Moore.
- 11:11Speaker 7: Come on down, Michael Pittman, your next stop, all.
- 11:17Speaker 4: Right, give us another loser here before Drey Wing go.
- 11:20Speaker 7: Michael Lafleur, the.
- 11:23Speaker 6: Cardinals head coach, giving Jeremiah Love double digit carries in
- 11:26Speaker 6: a preseason game should be considered malpractice?
- 11:30Speaker 4: From coach put it on the poll.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Uh, giving Jeremiah Love double digit carries in a preseason game?
- 11:36Speaker 1: Should he be sued from malpractice? You agree, Mikey, Yes,
- 11:40Speaker 1: I agree with you.
- 11:42Speaker 3: I just wonder where Lafleur got his doctorate that he's getting, uh, malpractice,
- 11:46Speaker 3: getting malpractice.
- 11:47Speaker 6: Because you're looking at Jeremiah Love. Now he has a
- 11:49Speaker 6: high ankle spray and the Cardinals are left hoping he
- 11:51Speaker 6: can return in four weeks for a week one game
- 11:53Speaker 6: at the Chargers.
- 11:55Speaker 7: It's not looking that good to me.
- 11:56Speaker 4: That show us at the new toy. That's all it is.
- 11:58Speaker 1: It's like trying to just of it. No one thinks
- 12:00Speaker 1: you should take a running back in the first round.
- 12:02Speaker 1: They took one very high, and that's just kind of
- 12:04Speaker 1: justifying a pick.
- 12:05Speaker 4: That no one else thinks you should have made.
- 12:07Speaker 3: That's all the best thing that could happen to the
- 12:09Speaker 3: Cardinals is he goes out for the year and then
- 12:11Speaker 3: they get two rookies next year, a quarterback and a
- 12:13Speaker 3: running back, and they're like, hey, little slipper, we got now.
- 12:19Speaker 5: Carries.
- 12:19Speaker 4: Yea, if you have three running backs Mikey, what does
- 12:21Speaker 4: that mean? I mean, you know, I may I.
- 12:25Speaker 7: Have one more loser.
- 12:27Speaker 6: The Bengals offensive line. Joe Burrow got folded like a
- 12:33Speaker 6: cheap lawn chair the second play of the game. Joe
- 12:37Speaker 6: Burrow's been sacked forty or more times three times in
- 12:40Speaker 6: his NFL career. The Bengals traded for Dexter Lawrence that
- 12:44Speaker 6: number ten pick. They could have gotten somebody like Francis
- 12:47Speaker 6: maw We Noah that the Giants wound up drafting. Wit said,
- 12:50Speaker 6: pick your most valuable asset if you're the Cincinnati Bengals,
- 12:53Speaker 6: is Joe Burrow start acting like it?
- 12:58Speaker 4: But he wanted a line name. Burrow wanted one.
- 13:02Speaker 6: Yeah, but if you're this Bengals team, you have to
- 13:04Speaker 6: kind of go in with the mindset we're gonna have
- 13:06Speaker 6: to score sixty points a game to win. You have
- 13:08Speaker 6: Joe Burrow, you have t Higgins, you have Jamar Chase.
- 13:11Speaker 6: Give Joe Burrow time in the pocket so he could
- 13:14Speaker 6: assess what he has to do to carry your defense.
- 13:17Speaker 5: Right.
- 13:17Speaker 4: I think the Bengals are going to be fine. They're
- 13:19Speaker 4: my Super Bowl pick out of the AFC. How about
- 13:21Speaker 4: that terrible pick? I pick them every.
- 13:23Speaker 7: Year I'm out the Chargers.
- 13:25Speaker 1: How about that, Mikey, do you have a winner or
- 13:27Speaker 1: a loser from the weekend? I know this wasn't your topic,
- 13:32Speaker 1: but do you have one anyway?
- 13:34Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 13:34Speaker 3: All the other New England states when they played Connecticut
- 13:37Speaker 3: in the Little League regional tournament.
- 13:40Speaker 1: I have a big winner, less Snead Sean McVay. They
- 13:43Speaker 1: took ty Simpson. No one thought they should have tooken
- 13:45Speaker 1: Ty Simpson. Now they have their quarterback when Matthew Stafford
- 13:47Speaker 1: gets hurt, and they have their quarterback for the.
- 13:49Speaker 4: Next fifteen years.
- 13:50Speaker 1: I mean, seriously, he's the MVP of the preseason through
- 13:53Speaker 1: Week one.
- 13:54Speaker 4: How about that?
- 13:55Speaker 6: It's crazy. It's crazy to see when a team runs
- 13:58Speaker 6: itself like a.
- 14:00Speaker 4: Organization, well with forward thinking.
- 14:04Speaker 6: Yeah, just like it's just like a system, like we
- 14:06Speaker 6: just draft the next guy. We churn out great players,
- 14:09Speaker 6: we trade out picks, and we replace them.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Which is exactly why me and Mikey are frustrated with
- 14:15Speaker 1: the Jets. Who's starting at quarterback for the Jets this year? Gino,
- 14:21Speaker 1: a guy that was terrible for them.
- 14:23Speaker 4: Twelve years ago. Okay, club Nick, that's my guy.
- 14:28Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Gotson Company
- 14:31Speaker 2: Live weekdacent three pm Eastern twelve pm Pacific on Fox
- 14:36Speaker 2: Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
- 14:40Speaker 4: Taylor, are you excited here for the NFL season?
- 14:43Speaker 1: It feels like you are knee deep in Yankee Baseball
- 14:45Speaker 1: right now, not really paying attention to what's coming right
- 14:48Speaker 1: around the corner, and that's the NFL.
- 14:50Speaker 4: How about that?
- 14:51Speaker 6: So I'm a multi TV guy. I have a great
- 14:54Speaker 6: ability to multitask when it comes to sports. I'm going
- 14:58Speaker 6: to be locked in the second the NFL starts. Now,
- 15:00Speaker 6: I'm not as high on preseason, even though I do
- 15:02Speaker 6: do my winners and losers, as people know. But once
- 15:05Speaker 6: the NFL starts, They've got.
- 15:07Speaker 1: Mem I asked mikeyy, he is so focused on the NFL.
- 15:11Speaker 1: He is so focused. He's a knee deep in fantasy magazines.
- 15:14Speaker 1: He's getting ready in college I college football. Right before
- 15:18Speaker 1: the show started, I said, Hey, you interested in the
- 15:20Speaker 1: Kawhi Leonards story. He looked at me and said, no,
- 15:24Speaker 1: he has no interest in it. I will say this,
- 15:27Speaker 1: the idea that the NBA investigated that okay, we'll get
- 15:32Speaker 1: to an NFL game here in just a second. But
- 15:34Speaker 1: the idea that the NBA investigated whether or not Bomber
- 15:38Speaker 1: directly knew about how they were paying Kawhi Leonard and
- 15:42Speaker 1: the deal that was cut with Kawhi Leonard, the idea
- 15:45Speaker 1: that the NBA did an investigation, and their investigation came back.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Their investigators came back and said, no, Bomber had no idea.
- 15:53Speaker 4: Get the hell out of here. Okay. They didn't want
- 15:56Speaker 4: to find that out. They didn't want to tell us.
- 15:58Speaker 1: There is no way that entire thing goes down without
- 16:02Speaker 1: Steve Bomber knowing it's going down.
- 16:04Speaker 4: Is that fair?
- 16:04Speaker 6: It's kind of like a situation in college sports where
- 16:08Speaker 6: a team investigates itself and then reports its finding to
- 16:11Speaker 6: the NCAA. Like North Carolina investigates itself. North Carolina doesn't
- 16:16Speaker 6: find any anything wrong with North Carolina did.
- 16:19Speaker 1: Yes, we've investigated the situation and we have found nothing here.
- 16:23Speaker 7: We put our best team on it.
- 16:25Speaker 5: Yeah, mister Bomber, did you know no? Are you sure?
- 16:29Speaker 4: Yes?
- 16:30Speaker 2: All right?
- 16:30Speaker 5: I got nothing else.
- 16:31Speaker 4: I'll give you a third chance, one more chance.
- 16:35Speaker 1: I mean, imagine someone underneath Bomber pulling the trigger on
- 16:39Speaker 1: that without Bomber knowing of it. That's ridiculous. They get fired.
- 16:43Speaker 6: Yeah, I've seen some people trying to do a victory
- 16:45Speaker 6: lap on Pablo Torre today saying that Pablo must have
- 16:49Speaker 6: gotten the story wrong.
- 16:50Speaker 4: He did it.
- 16:51Speaker 6: He did not get the story wrong. Ty Lawson was
- 16:54Speaker 6: one of them. Like Ty Lawson was like Chapablo get
- 16:56Speaker 6: fined or or fired for his.
- 17:00Speaker 4: Pablo.
- 17:00Speaker 6: This is probably the best case scenario for Pablo because
- 17:03Speaker 6: you know Stu. Yeah, he's always got more in this Iceberg.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Oh yeah, oh there's more. There are files that have
- 17:09Speaker 1: not been revealed yet. I promise you.
- 17:11Speaker 6: Like when the NBA came out yesterday and was like
- 17:14Speaker 6: we investigated it, the NBA did nothing wrong in this situation.
- 17:18Speaker 6: Somewhere Pablo had his feet kicked up and he was
- 17:20Speaker 6: just rubbing his hands again, saying, this is exactly what
- 17:23Speaker 6: I need say.
- 17:24Speaker 1: No, No, he's got him right where he wants him.
- 17:28Speaker 1: They felt for it. It's unbelievable.
- 17:31Speaker 4: But can you imagine stretch this thing out, Mikey.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Can you imagine someone underneath Bomber pulling the trigger on
- 17:38Speaker 1: that without his knowledge.
- 17:39Speaker 4: It seems ridiculous.
- 17:41Speaker 3: There's no chance that's and he's not just like one
- 17:45Speaker 3: of those really really really rich guys. He's one of
- 17:47Speaker 3: those crazy, really really really rich guys who has to
- 17:50Speaker 3: have his hands and everything. He absolutely knows everything that's
- 17:53Speaker 3: going on under him.
- 17:55Speaker 5: Absolutely.
- 17:56Speaker 6: Now it's perfect that this was actually the lead into
- 17:59Speaker 6: this NFL game that I have because people are looking
- 18:01Speaker 6: at this Kawhi situation and saying, is it something or
- 18:05Speaker 6: is it nothing?
- 18:06Speaker 4: Right?
- 18:06Speaker 6: And just so happens, my NFL game today is called
- 18:11Speaker 6: something or nothing.
- 18:17Speaker 4: I'll tell this man, he's not locked in on football.
- 18:21Speaker 6: So I will give you, guys some headlines, and you
- 18:24Speaker 6: have to tell me whether it's something or nothing?
- 18:26Speaker 4: Really, okay, got it? Mikey? Clear on the game here
- 18:29Speaker 4: or very clear? It's something or nothing?
- 18:33Speaker 5: It's something, all right?
- 18:34Speaker 6: First headline, Brice Hall out two to three weeks for
- 18:37Speaker 6: the New York Jets, but he is expected to play
- 18:41Speaker 6: in the opener. Guys, something or nothing, I'm.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Gonna say it's a nothing burger, Mikey. I mean, he's
- 18:49Speaker 1: out for a couple of preseason games. I'll be fine
- 18:51Speaker 1: for Week one. I don't like that. You know a
- 18:53Speaker 1: lot of people are high in the Jets this year.
- 18:55Speaker 1: I hate that. I wish people would say bad things
- 18:57Speaker 1: about the Jets. There's no way this team's.
- 18:59Speaker 4: Gonna be that good. But that's that's that's nothing for me.
- 19:03Speaker 5: It's a whole lot of nothing.
- 19:04Speaker 3: I mean, take take the first few weeks off, you
- 19:06Speaker 3: know what, Take the season off, Preese, get yourself right
- 19:09Speaker 3: the season, go into the weight room, train, stretch out,
- 19:12Speaker 3: whatever you gotta do, get ready for next year.
- 19:15Speaker 5: That's where we're gonna need you.
- 19:16Speaker 6: This is nothing, Yeah, you got Hey, it bothers me
- 19:19Speaker 6: that you guys come in with the Jets every day
- 19:21Speaker 6: with the glass half empty.
- 19:23Speaker 7: Look, the reason why this is is a nothing.
- 19:26Speaker 4: It's completely empty.
- 19:28Speaker 6: The reason why this is a nothing in the something
- 19:31Speaker 6: or nothing is because the initial reports where Breece Hall
- 19:35Speaker 6: went down with a non contact injury, and when you
- 19:37Speaker 6: hear non contact injury, yeah, you almost assume it's in
- 19:40Speaker 6: Achilles now or an acas all. The fact that he's
- 19:43Speaker 6: only gonna be out two to three weeks, yep, means
- 19:46Speaker 6: that the Jets avoided something a major catastrophe. But it
- 19:49Speaker 6: sounds like Mikey is basically rooting for a major catastrophe
- 19:52Speaker 6: at this point.
- 19:52Speaker 1: We want that Achilles to tell or he does you
- 19:54Speaker 1: want them he wants them to sit out for the season.
- 19:57Speaker 5: I want him to sit out the season without the injury.
- 20:00Speaker 5: Oh said, I don't want him to get hurt.
- 20:02Speaker 3: I'm just saying, you know, for a listen, this might
- 20:04Speaker 3: be a hamstring string. Let's not push it, take your time,
- 20:08Speaker 3: don't worry about it.
- 20:10Speaker 5: Don't worry.
- 20:10Speaker 4: I'd begive with that. Next story.
- 20:12Speaker 6: So we're going to go across the team actually in
- 20:15Speaker 6: the same stadium. So the Giants signed Naji Harris today
- 20:19Speaker 6: to help their running back room. But that's not actually
- 20:21Speaker 6: what the headline is. I'm watching the Giants preseason game
- 20:24Speaker 6: and I'm like, oh, yeah, Odell Beckham Junior is on
- 20:27Speaker 6: the Giants. Is Odell Beckham Junior on the Giants something
- 20:31Speaker 6: or nothing?
- 20:32Speaker 7: Because it seems like he's on the bubble of making
- 20:34Speaker 7: the roster.
- 20:36Speaker 4: I can't believe he's a bubble guy.
- 20:37Speaker 6: Now.
- 20:39Speaker 3: I think this is nothing because I think they just
- 20:42Speaker 3: kind of gave him a Hey, we'll give you a shot.
- 20:44Speaker 3: But I don't think he's really gonna contribute to this
- 20:47Speaker 3: team at all.
- 20:48Speaker 5: And I think they'll have to get rid of him.
- 20:50Speaker 3: They'll have to cut him because every time he isn't
- 20:53Speaker 3: on the field.
- 20:54Speaker 5: If he's on the team.
- 20:55Speaker 3: It's going to be more of a story than if
- 20:57Speaker 3: he does anything.
- 20:59Speaker 4: Do we know of neighbors is going to be healthy
- 21:00Speaker 4: for the season opener? Do we know that.
- 21:02Speaker 6: Seems like it seems like it's on the fence. He's
- 21:04Speaker 6: gonna trending that way.
- 21:06Speaker 4: I'm gonna say nothing. As well.
- 21:08Speaker 1: The fact that Odell Beckham Junior is a bubble guy
- 21:10Speaker 1: now means the story means nothing to me.
- 21:12Speaker 4: I mean, I can't believe we arrived there that quickly.
- 21:14Speaker 4: With him by the ways, it's amazing.
- 21:16Speaker 6: I'm gonna say it's something only because when you're looking
- 21:18Speaker 6: at this Giants wide receiver room, it leaves a lot
- 21:22Speaker 6: to be desired. Outside of elite neighbors. They have Malchi Fields,
- 21:25Speaker 6: the rookie from Notre Dame where it's it has to
- 21:31Speaker 6: be something because I want it to be something. I
- 21:33Speaker 6: still think of Odell Beckham Junior as being this wide
- 21:36Speaker 6: receiver one. I think of that one moment hall of
- 21:38Speaker 6: fame for him with that catch. Yes, and when he
- 21:41Speaker 6: goes to the Giants, you want the reunion.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Yeah, when he made that catch, I swore to myself
- 21:46Speaker 1: He's going to be the best wide receiver we've ever seen.
- 21:48Speaker 4: That's why I'm so surprised he's a bubble guy. I mean,
- 21:50Speaker 4: it's crazy. What a fall from grace the Hall of Fame.
- 21:55Speaker 1: One moment you're right by the way he's up on
- 21:57Speaker 1: Jackson dark like no one knows if he's good enough.
- 22:00Speaker 1: I'm tired of everyone hyping up the Giants because of
- 22:02Speaker 1: John Arbo. I have no idea if Jackson to heart
- 22:05Speaker 1: is good at quarterback. I've seen him play a handful
- 22:07Speaker 1: of games in the NFL, and everyone's making him out
- 22:10Speaker 1: to be some sort of superstar.
- 22:11Speaker 4: He's not.
- 22:12Speaker 6: Just to be clear, I feel like you've been the
- 22:14Speaker 6: one driving up the hype on the Giants.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm sorry, I'm yelling at myself.
- 22:22Speaker 5: Can't you actually bet them to win the Super Bowl?
- 22:25Speaker 4: There might pick out of the NFC next one. Do
- 22:28Speaker 4: Taylor something or nothing? Here?
- 22:30Speaker 6: So Odell Beckham Junior is looking to turn back the
- 22:32Speaker 6: clock with the Giants reunion. Another receiver looking to turn
- 22:36Speaker 6: back the clock, Keenan Allen, Oh Wow, has signed with
- 22:39Speaker 6: the Indianapolis colt Really does Keenan Allen have something left
- 22:44Speaker 6: in the tank? This signing something or nothing?
- 22:47Speaker 1: So you're asking does he have something left in the
- 22:49Speaker 1: tank or nothing left in the tank.
- 22:50Speaker 6: The headline is Keenan Allen to the Colts. Is it
- 22:53Speaker 6: something or nothing? And if you think it's something, that
- 22:55Speaker 6: would mean you think he had something left in the tank.
- 22:57Speaker 6: If you think it's nothing, he's running on.
- 22:59Speaker 1: E I think Keenan Allen has something left in the tank.
- 23:02Speaker 1: I think this story is something. I think the Colts
- 23:04Speaker 1: are a pretty good football team and Keenan Allen makes
- 23:06Speaker 1: them a better football team.
- 23:07Speaker 4: What were his stats last year?
- 23:08Speaker 1: I have no idea where Keenan Allen played and if
- 23:11Speaker 1: he had a good season last year, but it seems
- 23:13Speaker 1: like he always has a pretty good season.
- 23:14Speaker 7: So he was back with the Chargers.
- 23:16Speaker 6: He's still had eighty one catches for seven hundred and
- 23:18Speaker 6: seventy seven yards, four touchdowns.
- 23:20Speaker 7: Dam Keenan Allen is getting up.
- 23:22Speaker 4: There in age.
- 23:22Speaker 6: He's thirty four, but he still feels like a very
- 23:27Speaker 6: productive wide receiver. And with the Colts you lose Michael Pittman.
- 23:31Speaker 6: Michael Pittman goes to Pittsburgh. There are there should be
- 23:34Speaker 6: enough pieces where he can kind of just slot into
- 23:37Speaker 6: that wide receiver one. But then you also have Alec Pierce,
- 23:40Speaker 6: you have Josh Downs, you have a great running game
- 23:42Speaker 6: in Jonathan Taylor.
- 23:44Speaker 4: I mean Josh Davis.
- 23:47Speaker 3: This is a little bit of a something because I
- 23:49Speaker 3: think that he's going to be the safety blanket.
- 23:52Speaker 5: I think you've got Alec Pierce who's going to go
- 23:53Speaker 5: over the top. I think he got Josh Downs, who's
- 23:55Speaker 5: a guy who can go over the top.
- 23:57Speaker 3: I think Keenan Allen's going to be a little bit
- 23:58Speaker 3: of a safety safety valve for Daniel Jones.
- 24:02Speaker 7: What were you just doing there to Josh Downs? Stu Gotts.
- 24:05Speaker 6: Josh Downs is a serviceable wide receiver.
- 24:08Speaker 4: Three. I'm not saying that he's not.
- 24:10Speaker 1: It's just a hod name to bring up when you
- 24:11Speaker 1: say you lost Pittman, but you have Josh Downs.
- 24:13Speaker 4: I mean he's Josh Downs.
- 24:18Speaker 5: He's Alec Pearce.
- 24:19Speaker 4: I mean it's a bad wide receiver room, but it
- 24:23Speaker 4: just got better. This is something. Keenan Allen's a good
- 24:25Speaker 4: sign for them.
- 24:26Speaker 6: Yeah, but it feels like Josh Downs could be the
- 24:28Speaker 6: receiver that works inside the numbers. Alec Pierce is that
- 24:31Speaker 6: deep threat, and then Keenan Allen's kind of the Swiss
- 24:34Speaker 6: Army Knife does a little bit of everything.
- 24:35Speaker 4: You know what I was wrong. No one is more
- 24:37Speaker 4: locked into this NFL season than you wore I told you.
- 24:41Speaker 7: And I could give you ten minutes on the Yankees.
- 24:43Speaker 4: I mean, he's a Colts expert. Suddenly I'm the Swiss
- 24:45Speaker 4: Army Knife. Do you have another one?
- 24:49Speaker 7: Yep?
- 24:49Speaker 6: One more headline? Jacoby Lane from the Baltimore Ravens their rookie.
- 24:55Speaker 6: He had three catches for thirty eight yards and a
- 24:58Speaker 6: touchdown in his pre season debut.
- 25:02Speaker 7: Something or nothing?
- 25:04Speaker 5: Nothing, It's the end of sentence.
- 25:07Speaker 4: Nothing, no need to expand nothing. Why'd you go with
- 25:11Speaker 4: that one? Can? I ask? I mean, listen, it's your game.
- 25:15Speaker 1: I appreciate that we're talking football, but why did you
- 25:17Speaker 1: choose that story for something or nothing?
- 25:19Speaker 6: I mean because Jacoby Lane was the thirteenth receiver picked
- 25:23Speaker 6: in the twenty twenty sixth draft. He went third round,
- 25:26Speaker 6: eightieth overall. Lamar Jackson needs bodies at wide receiver. It
- 25:30Speaker 6: feels like they never have a guy. They're trying to
- 25:32Speaker 6: convince everybody's eight Flowers is a guy for the raven am.
- 25:36Speaker 6: They paid him like he's the guy, but he really
- 25:38Speaker 6: doesn't match that production for being a true number one
- 25:41Speaker 6: receiver on the outside. For this Ravens team to reach
- 25:45Speaker 6: their potential this year, for Lamar Jackson to get over
- 25:48Speaker 6: the hump and make a super Bowl and hopefully win
- 25:50Speaker 6: a super Bowl. It feels like they need somebody else
- 25:54Speaker 6: to step up at the wide receiver position, and it
- 25:56Speaker 6: might be somebody like Jacoby Lane.
- 25:58Speaker 5: That's why he asked because of a preseason game. He's
- 26:01Speaker 5: not Najie Harris signing.
- 26:03Speaker 4: Not that.
- 26:04Speaker 5: That's not what we're going to talk about. He goes
- 26:06Speaker 5: talk about you. What's his name?
- 26:07Speaker 7: Jacoby Lane, Coobe Lane.
- 26:09Speaker 1: It's an unfair amount of pressure to put on poor
- 26:11Speaker 1: Jacoby Lane, that he is the key to the Ravens
- 26:14Speaker 1: getting to where they want to go.
- 26:15Speaker 6: Well, if you want to talk about unfair comparisons, Raven's
- 26:19Speaker 6: offensive coordinator Declan Doyle compared him to former Saints great
- 26:23Speaker 6: Michael Thomas.
- 26:24Speaker 7: How about that?
- 26:25Speaker 4: How about that Mikey. He's more locked in than we are.
- 26:32Speaker 4: It's unbelievable.
- 26:33Speaker 3: I'm I need to go start reading more because this
- 26:37Speaker 3: is this is like my thing.
- 26:38Speaker 1: I mean, we had no idea when we started the
- 26:40Speaker 1: show today who the thirteenth wide receiver was selected in
- 26:44Speaker 1: last year, Trima Taylor knows why.
- 26:47Speaker 4: Locked in at FL.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Godson Company.
- 26:54Speaker 2: Live weekdays at three pm Eastern twelve pm Pacific on
- 26:58Speaker 2: Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Mikey, I feel like we have to start shifting our
- 27:05Speaker 1: conversations away from the Yankees, away from the North Carolina
- 27:09Speaker 1: Tar Heels, and towards the NFL and football.
- 27:12Speaker 5: Ye don't tease.
- 27:16Speaker 1: Well, I'm not teasing. I'm going to get to it
- 27:20Speaker 1: because I think I feel like we need to get
- 27:22Speaker 1: our brains. It's like we're in you know, training camp
- 27:26Speaker 1: mode right now. We need to, you know, kind of
- 27:28Speaker 1: work out our brains. It's oh, I'm going to start
- 27:30Speaker 1: slow here, Okay, try to get into football shape, all right.
- 27:35Speaker 5: On average, football takeshit.
- 27:40Speaker 1: On average every year, six teams that made the playoffs
- 27:45Speaker 1: the year before will not make the playoffs the next season.
- 27:50Speaker 1: So that means, in all likelihood we will have six
- 27:53Speaker 1: teams who made the playoffs a season ago not make
- 27:57Speaker 1: the playoffs this year, which means, on average, there are
- 28:00Speaker 1: roughly six new teams in the playoffs every year. And
- 28:04Speaker 1: you wonder why the NFL is so popular and so great.
- 28:08Speaker 1: Literally every team but the Jets has a chance. And
- 28:12Speaker 1: so I am wondering here, both from the audience and
- 28:14Speaker 1: from you, guys. I don't want to do all six teams,
- 28:17Speaker 1: but just some teams who made the playoffs a year
- 28:20Speaker 1: ago who you don't think are gonna make the playoffs
- 28:22Speaker 1: this season, and some teams who didn't make the playoffs
- 28:25Speaker 1: a year ago that you think will make the playoffs
- 28:28Speaker 1: this year. And the Kansas City Chiefs is an obvious one.
- 28:31Speaker 1: So I think that's where most people would start.
- 28:33Speaker 6: Right For me, the easiest one, I would go with
- 28:37Speaker 6: a team that made the playoffs last year that won't
- 28:39Speaker 6: make it this year. For me, it's the Pittsburgh Steelers,
- 28:43Speaker 6: where you're banking on another year of Aaron Rodgers getting older,
- 28:47Speaker 6: Mike McCarthy new head coach there, and then really it
- 28:50Speaker 6: comes down to the division where you'd expect the Ravens
- 28:54Speaker 6: to be better in Jesse Mentor's first year, and then
- 28:58Speaker 6: the Bengals. It's hard to see the Bengals going six
- 29:01Speaker 6: and eleven again if Joe Burrow could stay healthy in Cincinnati.
- 29:06Speaker 4: What do you think of Mikey, I'm.
- 29:08Speaker 3: Gonna go with the Jacksonville Jaguars. I just don't think
- 29:11Speaker 3: that division is.
- 29:15Speaker 7: Good.
- 29:15Speaker 3: I think that they're gonna get one team in and
- 29:18Speaker 3: my guess is gonna be the Houston Texans because they
- 29:20Speaker 3: do have that championship level defense, right and I think
- 29:23Speaker 3: Trevor Lawrence comes back to earth.
- 29:25Speaker 1: This is our training camp. I want to remind you, guys,
- 29:28Speaker 1: you chose too easy ones. Okay, in order for this
- 29:31Speaker 1: to work, you have to have a hot take. And
- 29:33Speaker 1: so I'm gonna say the Seattle Seahawks, the reigning Super
- 29:36Speaker 1: Bowl champions.
- 29:37Speaker 4: Why they're in a very tough division.
- 29:40Speaker 5: We picked the three and four seeds.
- 29:42Speaker 1: I picked the champs. I mean, how about that to
- 29:45Speaker 1: not make the playoffs this year? Why is that a
- 29:48Speaker 1: bad pick? It's a hot take. It's a good.
- 29:50Speaker 6: Take because there's almost no scenario where the Seahawks go
- 29:54Speaker 6: from a team that was fourteen and three last year
- 29:56Speaker 6: to a team that falls out of playoff contention, unless
- 30:01Speaker 6: unless you're just banking on an injury to Sam Darnold
- 30:04Speaker 6: at the quarterback position and they're having to rely on
- 30:06Speaker 6: Jalen Milroe playing quarterback.
- 30:08Speaker 1: I'm not saying they won't be in playoff contention. I'm
- 30:10Speaker 1: just saying they're in a tough division. If you're gonna
- 30:12Speaker 1: do this, it has to be a hot take. Of course,
- 30:14Speaker 1: the Steelers, right, I mean, they got in what at
- 30:17Speaker 1: nine and eight last year, and the Ravens are in
- 30:20Speaker 1: that division they didn't get in.
- 30:22Speaker 7: So last year the Steeler they did.
- 30:23Speaker 4: They did get it.
- 30:24Speaker 6: Last year the Steelers were ten and seven. I think
- 30:27Speaker 6: if you're going for the easiest answer for this, for
- 30:29Speaker 6: a team that missed the playoffs that's gonna make the
- 30:32Speaker 6: playoffs this year, the easiest answer would just to be
- 30:35Speaker 6: go to the NFC North where the Lions finished nine
- 30:37Speaker 6: and eight dead last there and say the Lions are
- 30:39Speaker 6: gonna make it because somebody has to win that division,
- 30:42Speaker 6: and all four teams in that division are pretty strong.
- 30:45Speaker 4: All right, let me give you the NFC team to
- 30:46Speaker 4: the playoffs. Go ahead, Mikey.
- 30:47Speaker 3: I'm sorry I was gonna say not only that, but
- 30:50Speaker 3: I'm gonna tell you the team they're going to knock out,
- 30:52Speaker 3: and that's the two seed. Last year in the NFC,
- 30:55Speaker 3: I don't think the Bears make the playoffs.
- 30:56Speaker 5: I think too much broke right for them last year.
- 30:59Speaker 5: Now they won US so many games late.
- 31:01Speaker 3: I think Caleb Williams is fools gold, even though Steve
- 31:05Speaker 3: Gott stinks he's the best.
- 31:07Speaker 5: And I don't think they make the playoffs, all right.
- 31:08Speaker 1: Keep in mind, on average, six teams who made the
- 31:10Speaker 1: playoffs last year will not make the playoffs the following season.
- 31:14Speaker 4: So I'll give you the playoff teams from last year.
- 31:16Speaker 1: Let's go through them and tell me if you think
- 31:18Speaker 1: they're gonna make it back to the playoffs this year. Patriots, No,
- 31:23Speaker 1: thank you. That's how you play the game. Mike Y,
- 31:25Speaker 1: hey screaming, I'm so excited. Football's here. Taylor, Patriots playoffs,
- 31:33Speaker 1: all right, Bills playoffs, playoffs, all right? Playoffs Steelers. Taylor said, no,
- 31:39Speaker 1: Ravens could make the playoffs. I say, the Ravens don't
- 31:41Speaker 1: make the playoffs, the Steelers don't make the playoffs. The
- 31:43Speaker 1: Bengals do make the playoffs and win the Super Bowl.
- 31:45Speaker 1: How about that. That's how we play the game.
- 31:49Speaker 5: It's trading camp. That's a trading camp.
- 31:52Speaker 4: Take yep.
- 31:53Speaker 1: Jaguars playoffs, Texans playoffs, yes, Broncos, Yes, Chargers my super
- 32:02Speaker 1: Bowl pick.
- 32:02Speaker 5: Yes.
- 32:02Speaker 4: On average, six teams aren't gonna make it back Eagles.
- 32:07Speaker 4: This is one.
- 32:08Speaker 6: This is one where you could talk me into the
- 32:11Speaker 6: Eagles not making the playoffs, because yeah, unfortunately, I'm buying
- 32:16Speaker 6: into the Cowboys hype this year, they get Von Miller.
- 32:19Speaker 6: I like their defense being able to be a lot
- 32:21Speaker 6: better this year, and I think that's kind of been
- 32:24Speaker 6: what's hampering them their their bad defense. I think Caleb
- 32:26Speaker 6: Downs fixes a lot of issues on their defense.
- 32:30Speaker 3: He's gonna have to that was that was a really
- 32:34Speaker 3: really bad defense last year.
- 32:36Speaker 5: Dak Prescott can't stay healthy.
- 32:38Speaker 3: Jerry Jones won't put in uh you know curtains at
- 32:41Speaker 3: at the stadium that even CD Lamb is saying, please,
- 32:46Speaker 3: I'm not buying into.
- 32:47Speaker 5: I'm not buying into the Cowboys hype.
- 32:48Speaker 1: Nope, I'm not either. The Eagles make the playoffs. I
- 32:51Speaker 1: have Jalen Hurts winning the m v P this year.
- 32:53Speaker 4: I mean, I really just giving out.
- 32:58Speaker 5: Over over Caleb.
- 33:00Speaker 3: Do you think it's going to be the best quarterback
- 33:02Speaker 3: in the NFL of all time at.
- 33:04Speaker 1: Some point eventually? Yes, but not this season. Okay, not
- 33:07Speaker 1: yet a little too soon or a year away from
- 33:09Speaker 1: Caleb Williams being the greatest quarterback that anyone has ever seen. Eagles,
- 33:14Speaker 1: So let's go to the Bears. Mikey says, no Packers playoffs,
- 33:20Speaker 1: all right? Vikings and Lions in that division? I mean
- 33:23Speaker 1: Lions a team that didn't make the playoffs a year ago,
- 33:25Speaker 1: that I could see making the playoffs this year.
- 33:28Speaker 6: I think when you're looking for a regression in the
- 33:29Speaker 6: NFC North, it's coming via the Minnesota Vikings.
- 33:33Speaker 1: All Right, okay, Carolina, I can't believe they made the playoffs.
- 33:38Speaker 7: I mean somebody had to.
- 33:40Speaker 3: So I mean, can't we just say NFC South and
- 33:44Speaker 3: just say one of them makes it?
- 33:45Speaker 5: Like do we have to? Because there's no difference between
- 33:48Speaker 5: any of them.
- 33:49Speaker 1: So that would be the obvious division that in the
- 33:51Speaker 1: AFC Central would be the obvious divisions where you say, hey,
- 33:53Speaker 1: whoever won those divisions a year ago not gonna win
- 33:56Speaker 1: it this year. They're not going to make the playoffs.
- 33:58Speaker 1: And you would find your teams that didn't make the
- 34:00Speaker 1: playoffs who aren't gonna make the playoffs in those divisions.
- 34:03Speaker 4: Yes, so I get.
- 34:04Speaker 6: Baker Mayfield's whole thing is about having a chip on
- 34:07Speaker 6: his shoulder and being the guy that proves everybody wrong.
- 34:09Speaker 6: But yesterday he was talking to the media and he said,
- 34:12Speaker 6: everybody's picking against us, probably to have a losing record,
- 34:16Speaker 6: So we'll see when I prove them wrong. I would
- 34:19Speaker 6: just like to inform Baker Mayfield currently they are the
- 34:22Speaker 6: favorites in the NFC South.
- 34:24Speaker 1: Is he crazy? You're You're not the New Orleans Saints
- 34:27Speaker 1: right now?
- 34:28Speaker 4: Man? But who is doubting Baker Mayfield? Is he hearing voices?
- 34:31Speaker 4: Does he just?
- 34:32Speaker 6: No?
- 34:32Speaker 4: One is saying that.
- 34:35Speaker 1: Who is hyping up the Buccaneers or who is crushing
- 34:38Speaker 1: the Buccaneers? Where Baker somehow is gonna find the chip?
- 34:41Speaker 1: He makes it up. He puts fake chips on his shoulder.
- 34:46Speaker 1: Put it on the Paul Taylor. Does Baker Mayfield put
- 34:49Speaker 1: fake chips on his shoulder?
- 34:50Speaker 4: Yes, Mikey.
- 34:52Speaker 3: I was just wondering if you knew there was no
- 34:53Speaker 3: such thing as AFC Central for about twenty five.
- 34:56Speaker 1: Years AFC North. What a time though, when the AFC
- 35:02Speaker 1: Central was a thing. I remember same teams, I think,
- 35:06Speaker 1: no similar put it on the pall. Do you remember
- 35:11Speaker 1: the AFC Central. So I have the Seahawks not making
- 35:17Speaker 1: it because it has to be bold, it has to.
- 35:19Speaker 4: It has to be a hot take.
- 35:20Speaker 1: I think Seattle because I still don't believe in Sam Darnold,
- 35:25Speaker 1: although I shouldn't be doing that, but they give away
- 35:28Speaker 1: Walker to the Kansas City Chiefs. I just think in
- 35:31Speaker 1: that division that is a I know they won the
- 35:33Speaker 1: Super Bowl, Guys, I understand that, okay, but it's would
- 35:37Speaker 1: they be the first Super Bowl winning team to not
- 35:39Speaker 1: make the playoffs the next season?
- 35:42Speaker 4: I don't think so.
- 35:42Speaker 1: No.
- 35:43Speaker 5: The Patriots.
- 35:43Speaker 3: The Patriots missed it winning the Super Bowl after Tom
- 35:47Speaker 3: Brady got hurt and it was a Matt Castle year.
- 35:49Speaker 1: All right, So allow me to be the first in
- 35:52Speaker 1: sports media, as everyone is working at the kinks here
- 35:55Speaker 1: and given hot takes for the NFL, allow me to
- 35:58Speaker 1: be the first. And if anyone else says it, they
- 36:00Speaker 1: from me.
- 36:00Speaker 4: All Right.
- 36:01Speaker 1: The Seattle Seahawks, the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks, will
- 36:06Speaker 1: not make it to the postseason this year. I said it,
- 36:09Speaker 1: and I said it first.
- 36:10Speaker 7: So the last Super Bowl winning team to miss the
- 36:12Speaker 7: playoffs the following season was the twenty twenty two Los
- 36:15Speaker 7: Angeles Rams, where they finished twenty twenty two, five and twelve.
- 36:21Speaker 4: So it's possible, yes, but it's possible. That's all I'm saying.
- 36:27Speaker 7: Same Division two.
- 36:28Speaker 1: Yes, it is a think about it Thursday here, Odd
- 36:30Speaker 1: Stuc Gottson Company will get to that just a second.
- 36:33Speaker 1: But Taylor, what is going on with LaMelo Ball? What
- 36:36Speaker 1: is happening there? I mean, I don't know why we're
- 36:38Speaker 1: talking Charlotte Hornet's wait, he's not a hornet anymore, Timberwooll,
- 36:41Speaker 1: he's a tea wolf. Now, I don't know why we're
- 36:44Speaker 1: talking NBA or t Wolves basketball.
- 36:48Speaker 4: In August on a day where is he is out anyway? Good?
- 36:51Speaker 6: So LaMelo Ball's a league pass guy where anytime he
- 36:54Speaker 6: does something, I want to be notified what he does
- 36:56Speaker 6: because I think LaMelo Ball his brain needs to be
- 36:59Speaker 6: st going forward. So LaMelo Ball gets a player exclusive shoe.
- 37:04Speaker 6: It comes out and interviewer ask him three people of
- 37:09Speaker 6: all time if they could wear your shoe, who would
- 37:12Speaker 6: you pick? And when you're thinking about it, it's like
- 37:14Speaker 6: it's a basketball shoe. So maybe like Michael Jordan, Lebron James,
- 37:18Speaker 6: some of those some of those cliche answers, right.
- 37:21Speaker 1: Right, some all time great basketball players. I would love
- 37:23Speaker 1: for that guy to wear my shoes. That would be
- 37:26Speaker 1: so cool, right.
- 37:27Speaker 6: That's what you think a normal answer would be. But
- 37:29Speaker 6: as we've learned, there's nothing normal about LaMelo Ball. And
- 37:32Speaker 6: this was LaMelo Ball's answer.
- 37:34Speaker 5: If you had to pick.
- 37:35Speaker 7: Three people to wear your shoes, would they be.
- 37:38Speaker 5: Jesus Martin Luther King novel X.
- 37:42Speaker 1: I mean that's a good three. I gotta be honest
- 37:44Speaker 1: with you. That is a solid market Luther King. I mean, yes, MLK.
- 37:49Speaker 6: What do you mean you got MLK marching going. I
- 37:52Speaker 6: have a dream that one day I will be wearing
- 37:54Speaker 6: LaMelo ball.
- 37:57Speaker 5: No, but you're right what he sounded like I have.
- 38:00Speaker 1: But you're asking LaMelo Ball if he could choose any
- 38:03Speaker 1: three people from history to wear his shoes, it's his decision,
- 38:09Speaker 1: and he is choosing Martin Luther King.
- 38:11Speaker 4: It would be cool.
- 38:12Speaker 1: In fact, I'm not certain I wouldn't choose those three.
- 38:16Speaker 3: He's got Martin Luther King marching just because I'm in man,
- 38:19Speaker 3: my feet are comfortable, I'm good.
- 38:21Speaker 5: I could do this all day.
- 38:23Speaker 6: And Jesus walked on water because he didn't want his
- 38:25Speaker 6: LaMelo balls to get wet.
- 38:29Speaker 1: By the way, put it on the Paul Taylor, do
- 38:31Speaker 1: we need to check LaMelo Ball's brain moving forward?
- 38:36Speaker 4: Because I think you're right about that.
- 38:38Speaker 1: Now I'm trying to think of the three people I
- 38:40Speaker 1: would want to wear my shoes.
- 38:43Speaker 4: How about that?
- 38:44Speaker 1: It's gotta be Jordan Well, I'm thinking Russo mad Dog.
- 38:48Speaker 1: I'm thinking Francesa as well. I'm not saying definitively those
- 38:52Speaker 1: are the guys. I'm just I'm thinking about it. Jesus
- 38:55Speaker 1: is a good one.
- 38:56Speaker 7: I mean the big man, Kac.
- 39:01Speaker 4: What are you calling Doctor King sneakers? Like, what do
- 39:04Speaker 4: we call dream big?
- 39:10Speaker 7: What the dreamers? Ricardo just offered up.
- 39:12Speaker 4: Okay, who was the third one? Malcolm X?
- 39:14Speaker 7: Malcolm X Malcolm X.
- 39:16Speaker 4: Wow, Mikey.
- 39:19Speaker 1: If three people could wear your sneakers that you're currently wearing,
- 39:23Speaker 1: which three people would you want to.
- 39:24Speaker 4: Wear your sneakers?
- 39:27Speaker 1: It's such a ridiculous question. It should be the thing
- 39:30Speaker 1: about it Thursday.
- 39:31Speaker 4: I mean, this.
- 39:33Speaker 3: Should be the think about it Thursday, because I really
- 39:35Speaker 3: do have to think about it. Yeah, I mean, Jesus
- 39:38Speaker 3: is a great one. I'm gonna go Sinatra and I'm gonna.
- 39:42Speaker 4: Go you just open a whole new portal. Now I'm
- 39:44Speaker 4: thinking Bob Weird, Jerry Garcia wearing my shoes on stage?
- 39:49Speaker 1: I mean, wow, is there a jet No Taylor for you?
- 39:57Speaker 1: It's got to be jaylen Brunson, right, Yeah, he's.
- 40:00Speaker 7: Front and Jeter all in that same mold.
- 40:03Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 40:04Speaker 3: Yeah, Jeter, Jesus Christ, Jeter, and Frank Sinatra.
- 40:09Speaker 4: Those are my three.
- 40:10Speaker 1: So I applaud LaMelo Ball for giving that answer, because
- 40:13Speaker 1: I know that you want him to give the answer
- 40:16Speaker 1: that you want.
- 40:16Speaker 4: He did it.
- 40:17Speaker 1: You want Jordan, you want Kobe, and he went in
- 40:20Speaker 1: a different direction. And it's not like you went in
- 40:22Speaker 1: a bad direction. I'm wondering why you're objecting so much
- 40:25Speaker 1: to Jesus Martin, Luther King and Malcolm X.
- 40:28Speaker 6: I'm not necessarily objecting, but you're you're saying, LaMelo Ball
- 40:32Speaker 6: goes in a different direction. That's the only direction. LaMelo
- 40:34Speaker 6: Ball goes in another direction.
- 40:37Speaker 4: Put it on the poll. Is the only direction LaMelo
- 40:42Speaker 4: Ball goes in?
- 40:43Speaker 1: Is the other direction? Is that the only direction? He
- 40:45Speaker 1: goes in the other direction. It's a tough one. It's
- 40:48Speaker 1: tough to word it out anyway. Let's get to what
- 40:50Speaker 1: think about it Thursday, Iowa, Sam, give me the image.
- 40:55Speaker 2: You know that segment talk about it Tuesday on Hawkman
- 40:58Speaker 2: Crowder in Sclero This is like that.
- 41:01Speaker 4: But bigger, bigger and better, better.
- 41:04Speaker 2: Better, and forty eight hours later, this is think about
- 41:09Speaker 2: it Thursday.
- 41:11Speaker 1: Let me rephrase that bol question before we get to
- 41:14Speaker 1: think about it Thursday. Okay, is the wrong direction the
- 41:20Speaker 1: only direction Lamela Ball goes it?
- 41:26Speaker 4: Put it on, all right, what are we thinking about it?
- 41:30Speaker 7: Think about it Thursday? This week?
- 41:31Speaker 6: Which player in the NFL is entering this season with
- 41:36Speaker 6: the biggest chip on their shoulders?
- 41:38Speaker 1: Obviously really always the same guy. I'm Brady's not playing anymore.
- 41:46Speaker 1: I wasn't thinking about Brady. I'm gonna say Baker Mayfield. Now,
- 41:52Speaker 1: whether it's real or not, it doesn't really matter. I mean,
- 41:55Speaker 1: he's upset because the Buccaneers merely offered him one hundred
- 41:58Speaker 1: million dollars over two years, and he's gonna use that as
- 42:01Speaker 1: fuel for the season. But he will manufacture a chip
- 42:04Speaker 1: unlike anyone I've ever seen in the history of sports.
- 42:06Speaker 6: I mean, so, my two nominees for players that are
- 42:09Speaker 6: entering the season with the biggest chip on their shoulder
- 42:11Speaker 6: Patrick Mahomes coming back from an injury. It feels like
- 42:14Speaker 6: people are writing off this Chiefs team already, and Patrick
- 42:17Speaker 6: Mahomes is probably thinking it's a good one. I still
- 42:20Speaker 6: have a lot left in the tank for this Chiefs
- 42:22Speaker 6: team to be in our super Bowl window. The other
- 42:25Speaker 6: one kind of going off the board here a bit
- 42:28Speaker 6: because he won a Super Bowl last season. I think
- 42:31Speaker 6: Sam Darnold still kind of has a chip on his
- 42:33Speaker 6: shoulder because.
- 42:34Speaker 1: Believe yeah, I mean I said it yesterday one of
- 42:36Speaker 1: the worst takes in the history of sports radio that Seattle,
- 42:39Speaker 1: who won the Super Bowl last year, would not make
- 42:41Speaker 1: the playoffs this year.
- 42:42Speaker 6: They are the defending champions, and it seems like when
- 42:46Speaker 6: you're talking about the Seattle Seahawks, it's like, yeah, their
- 42:49Speaker 6: team is really good.
- 42:51Speaker 1: But did you see what the Rams did this off?
- 42:54Speaker 6: Here come the forty nine ers. If the forty nine
- 42:56Speaker 6: ers could stay healthy.
- 42:58Speaker 1: With all due respect to the Seahawks, and I know
- 43:00Speaker 1: they're looking for it still after winning a Super Bowl championship,
- 43:04Speaker 1: but the Rams did go out and get Miles Garrett
- 43:06Speaker 1: and they're about to sign Aaron Donald. I mean they
- 43:09Speaker 1: also got Trent McDuffie, and no one talks about him
- 43:12Speaker 1: because they got Garrett and Donald's subserve what they did.
- 43:18Speaker 4: You got one, Mike, I got two.
- 43:20Speaker 5: I got too. We'll start with c J. Stroud.
- 43:23Speaker 6: C J.
- 43:23Speaker 5: Stroud has been told for years that he's on.
- 43:26Speaker 3: A championship defense and the only reason they're not winning
- 43:30Speaker 3: is him.
- 43:32Speaker 4: I like that one. Yeah, it's a good one. Also, pressure,
- 43:35Speaker 4: and here he's got pressure on his shoulder as well.
- 43:37Speaker 5: Yes, And here's my other one.
- 43:40Speaker 3: Imagine giving your heart and soul to an organization for
- 43:44Speaker 3: them to trade you for the trade to be like, mah,
- 43:46Speaker 3: never mind, you're going back where you were. Max Crosby,
- 43:50Speaker 3: big chip on his shoulder this year.
- 43:52Speaker 4: I like that. That's a good one. That is a
- 43:54Speaker 4: good one.
- 43:54Speaker 5: Wow.
- 43:55Speaker 6: I didn't even consider Max Crosby. I just thought of
- 43:57Speaker 6: another one too. And it's two players. It's a dual chip,
- 44:01Speaker 6: and it's it's a deciding Yeah, it's deciding who's gonna
- 44:04Speaker 6: have the bigger chip because they're both trying to prove.
- 44:06Speaker 7: The other one right.
- 44:07Speaker 4: A couple of chips cutting it up.
- 44:08Speaker 6: So this is a situation of a breakup, and once
- 44:11Speaker 6: you have a breakup, both people are kind of competing
- 44:14Speaker 6: to see who can win the breakup. Jalen Hurts with
- 44:18Speaker 6: the Eagles, A J. Brown with the Patriots. I think
- 44:21Speaker 6: both of those players are going into the season on
- 44:24Speaker 6: their shoulder to say, chips, where are the ones that
- 44:27Speaker 6: were making it work.
- 44:28Speaker 4: For monster chips? I'm both their shoulders. It's exceptional. Baker Mayfield,
- 44:36Speaker 4: you know it's it's it's it's really good.
- 44:41Speaker 3: Baker Mayfield to put a chip on his shoulder because
- 44:43Speaker 3: you didn't say he had the biggest chip on his shoulder.
- 44:45Speaker 1: Yeah, can you go with a coach, Yeah you can,
- 44:49Speaker 1: of course, Ken, of course. I think Dan Campbell enters
- 44:52Speaker 1: this season with a chip on his shoulder.
- 44:54Speaker 7: Great one.
- 44:55Speaker 1: You know, everyone's starting to question whether or not he's
- 44:57Speaker 1: a good coach. He was the bell of the ball
- 44:59Speaker 1: a couple of years ago. Everyone wanted him to be
- 45:01Speaker 1: their head coach, and now everyone's starting to question whether
- 45:04Speaker 1: it's just a meathead playing the role of head coach.
- 45:07Speaker 1: And I think Dan Campbell for those I think he's
- 45:09Speaker 1: a very good coach and a great guy. And I
- 45:11Speaker 1: think he enters this season with something to prove. And
- 45:13Speaker 1: when you have something to prove, that means you have
- 45:14Speaker 1: a chip on your shoulder.
- 45:15Speaker 5: How about that
