- 0:03Speaker 1: All right, crowd team. No Scott. You know why Scott's
- 0:05Speaker 1: not here today? It's just you and I. But you
- 0:07Speaker 1: know why Scott's not here today? Because Scott didn't want
- 0:10Speaker 1: to listen to the opening of what we're going to
- 0:12Speaker 1: talk about today. Scott has earplugs in. Scott has earmuffs on.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Scott does not want to understand that it was football weekend.
- 0:19Speaker 1: I know we're deep in baseball, but the Eagles won.
- 0:22Speaker 1: The Bears absolutely annihilated the Panthers. So many points. I mean,
- 0:27Speaker 1: I know we're deep in baseball right now, but there
- 0:30Speaker 1: is time. To look at other sports, because I have
- 0:33Speaker 1: a room with multiple TVs, and I had football on
- 0:36Speaker 1: one TV. I also had the eight games going, so
- 0:39Speaker 1: I could keep track of the pennant races, who's winning,
- 0:41Speaker 1: who's losing. It's okay to like other sports, Scott.
- 0:45Speaker 2: It kind of allows us to touch grass, because football starts.
- 0:51Speaker 2: That means it's about to be October.
- 0:54Speaker 1: True, true. It means we're down to under about 13
- 0:57Speaker 1: games for most teams, 12 to 13 games for most teams.
- 1:00Speaker 1: That's left in this regular season. So we're getting down to,
- 1:03Speaker 1: as we used to say, nitty gritty or bleep cut
- 1:06Speaker 1: in time, whatever you want to call it. It's time
- 1:08Speaker 1: now to, you got to win, try to win every
- 1:10Speaker 1: single game. And listen, football's back. Great. But don't forget
- 1:14Speaker 1: about baseball people because baseball is in the highest point
- 1:17Speaker 1: of its time. And you know who finally remembered that
- 1:19Speaker 1: baseball had started in Toronto? Vlad Jr. He finally hit
- 1:23Speaker 1: a home run. Throw the confetti, everybody. He hit a
- 1:26Speaker 1: home run in Toronto. It had only been over a year.
- 1:30Speaker 1: in the regular season since he did it. And football
- 1:33Speaker 1: started before Vladdy Guerrero this year had hit a home run.
- 1:36Speaker 1: They went a whole year of football. They crowned a
- 1:38Speaker 1: Super Bowl champion. They did all this stuff. Teams played
- 1:41Speaker 1: in Australia. And then Vlad's like, oh, yeah, I should
- 1:45Speaker 1: hit a home run because the Canadian Football League is
- 1:49Speaker 1: about to start. So whammy, Vlad Guerrero home run. Congratulations, Vlad.
- 1:53Speaker 1: I couldn't believe it.
- 1:54Speaker 2: I thought off the bat he crushed it just so
- 1:58Speaker 2: it made it over.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Made it over the wall.
- 2:00Speaker 2: I thought it was going to be like a second
- 2:02Speaker 2: deck hits off, but hey, got it. I bet he
- 2:05Speaker 2: hits another one before the season's over. I'll take the
- 2:08Speaker 2: over on one and a half more homers.
- 2:10Speaker 1: You think so? Okay.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Okay.
- 2:12Speaker 1: And by the way, a huge series starts tonight in Cleveland.
- 2:15Speaker 1: I have my Sam Antonacci shirt. You have your chase
- 2:18Speaker 1: to lauder. We're enemies today on the field and off
- 2:21Speaker 1: the field apparently, but get these at foul territory shop.com
- 2:24Speaker 1: new designs every week. Sarah does a great job. There's
- 2:28Speaker 1: cartoonish ones. There's real ones like this one and the
- 2:31Speaker 1: one Kratz has on with Chase DeLauder. White Sox fans
- 2:34Speaker 1: love Sam Antonacci. He plays a little edge. He'll throw
- 2:37Speaker 1: an elbow every once in a while. I'm not against it.
- 2:39Speaker 1: I'm not against a little elbow. Okay. That's fair. That's fair,
- 2:43Speaker 1: but it's a big, big series. We'll get to that
- 2:46Speaker 1: a little bit later. Yeah. And before we get into that,
- 2:49Speaker 1: we have the Sox machine guys coming on to talk
- 2:53Speaker 1: about it. We also have Jim Bowden coming on, and
- 2:54Speaker 1: then we also have Evan Grant. He's going to discuss
- 2:57Speaker 1: eating and how Texas Rangers are still in this race
- 3:00Speaker 1: with us later on. But right now, let's charge them out.
- 3:05Speaker 1: All right, Cam Schlittler did it again. Dylan Cease pitched
- 3:11Speaker 1: well yesterday, only went five innings. Those are kind of
- 3:14Speaker 1: the two main guys in the ALS Young Award race.
- 3:17Speaker 1: But with what Cam Schlittler's doing right now, it's his
- 3:20Speaker 1: award to lose. Is it not? Aaron Boone thinks so.
- 3:21Speaker 1: It's over. It's over. It's over.
- 3:24Speaker 2: It's over.
- 3:24Speaker 1: It's over. It's over. It's over. It's over. It's over.
- 3:27Speaker 3: It's over.
- 3:27Speaker 1: It's over. It's over. It's over. It's over. It's over.
- 3:28Speaker 1: It's over. It's over.
- 3:29Speaker 3: It's over.
- 3:30Speaker 1: It's over. It's over. It's over. It's over. It's over.
- 3:31Speaker 1: It's over.
- 3:35Speaker 2: It's over.
- 3:36Speaker 1: It's over. It's over. It's over.
- 3:37Speaker 2: It's over.
- 3:37Speaker 1: It's over.
- 3:37Speaker 2: It's over.
- 3:37Speaker 1: It's over. It's over.
- 3:38Speaker 3: It's over.
- 3:38Speaker 1: It's over. It's over. It's over. It's over. It's over.
- 3:41Speaker 1: It's over. It's over. It's over. It's over. It's over.
- 3:44Speaker 1: It's over. It's over. It's over. It's over. It's over.
- 3:46Speaker 2: It's over.
- 3:47Speaker 1: It's over. It's over just an awesome season and hopefully
- 3:53Speaker 1: a lot left in the tank here for, you know,
- 3:56Speaker 1: what we hope is another month and a half or so. Yeah. Listen, I'm,
- 4:05Speaker 1: I'm all for pitchers having a great year, but a
- 4:07Speaker 1: position player can't win the Cy Young. So sorry, this
- 4:10Speaker 1: is just because I was a position player. A pitcher
- 4:13Speaker 1: shouldn't win the Cy Young. I know Kershaw has done
- 4:15Speaker 1: it recently. Verlander has done it recently and I get it,
- 4:18Speaker 1: but to me, MVP is for a guy that's out
- 4:22Speaker 1: there 162 games or 150 games, not a guy that
- 4:25Speaker 1: pitches 30 times. And that's why they have a Cy Young.
- 4:28Speaker 1: If you can tell me that a guy goes out
- 4:30Speaker 1: there and pitches a couple times as a position player
- 4:32Speaker 1: and has a zero ERA, then you know what? Give
- 4:35Speaker 1: him the Cy Young because he'll have better stats, right?
- 4:37Speaker 1: But not over the long haul. And as valuable as
- 4:40Speaker 1: starting pitching is and as valuable as Chase– or sorry,
- 4:43Speaker 1: as Cam Schlittler is to the New York Yankees, he
- 4:46Speaker 1: should not win the MVP. Cy Young– Great. Have about it.
- 4:50Speaker 1: But he should not be able to win the Cy Young.
- 4:52Speaker 1: I mean the MVP. Sorry. That is just my feelings
- 4:55Speaker 1: as a former position player, and I've been saying this
- 4:57Speaker 1: for years. Sorry.
- 4:59Speaker 2: I think a lot of pitchers would even agree with you.
- 5:01Speaker 2: I think it takes a very rare, rare case. So
- 5:04Speaker 2: I had to look up when Kershaw won it in 14.
- 5:07Speaker 2: You're talking about a guy that had his war, which
- 5:10Speaker 2: I'm not necessarily just leaning all war. His war was
- 5:16Speaker 2: two higher than the next closest. In that season, the
- 5:19Speaker 2: next guys that got votes, first place votes, were Giancarlo
- 5:24Speaker 2: Stanton and Andrew McCutcheon. Both guys that had an OPS, 950, 952.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Kershaw went very similar numbers, but still, if Kershaw and
- 5:39Speaker 2: Cam Schlittler were going head-to-head right now for the Cy Young,
- 5:44Speaker 2: Kershaw would win it. So he had a much better year.
- 5:47Speaker 2: You're talking about a guy that had a whip under eight.
- 5:49Speaker 1: And a half.
- 5:51Speaker 2: He had an ERA of 177. He had 21 wins.
- 5:56Speaker 2: I don't agree with it. I don't agree that pitchers
- 5:58Speaker 2: should be able to get the MVP. But I think
- 6:01Speaker 2: there are rare, rare cases. I don't feel like this
- 6:04Speaker 2: is the one. Cam has had an incredible year. We
- 6:07Speaker 2: shouldn't take anything away from him in that. But the
- 6:10Speaker 2: Siam's his.
- 6:11Speaker 1: It's locked up.
- 6:12Speaker 2: I think it was locked up before this most recent start.
- 6:15Speaker 2: I thought the last one was the one that locked
- 6:16Speaker 2: it up. Well, I mean, again, he probably has it.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Aaron Judge agrees. I think we have some sound from
- 6:22Speaker 2: Aaron Judge.
- 6:24Speaker 1: There we go. Chris Kirshner, three-time MVP Aaron Judge on
- 6:26Speaker 1: of Cam Schlittler. Should be the MVP. They've got a
- 6:29Speaker 1: Cy Young award for a reason. The best pitcher in
- 6:31Speaker 1: the game. He's got my vote. Definitely for the Cy Young.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Aaron Judge has won three of these. He can't win
- 6:35Speaker 1: a Cy Young. So pitchers should not be able to
- 6:38Speaker 1: win the MVP. Sorry, people out there can get mad
- 6:40Speaker 1: and say, oh, my hat's on backwards and whatever. I
- 6:42Speaker 1: don't really care. I have a skullcap. It's a hat. Whatever.
- 6:45Speaker 1: I don't care. Call me fat. You guys love to
- 6:47Speaker 1: call me fat. I promise you I'm not fat. But
- 6:50Speaker 1: Cam Shultzler should not win the MVP. It's a great discussion.
- 6:53Speaker 1: It's cool that it's even being mentioned around that Aaron
- 6:55Speaker 1: Boone's throwing it out there. Listen, these numbers are incredible.
- 6:58Speaker 1: They really are. You know what, Cam? Congratulations. You're going
- 7:02Speaker 1: to win your first Cy Young. We'll see you in
- 7:04Speaker 1: New York City.
- 7:05Speaker 2: It's definitely a conversation we've got to talk to pitchers
- 7:08Speaker 2: about because I don't want to be one-sided on this totally,
- 7:11Speaker 2: but he may be even the MVP of the– Of
- 7:17Speaker 2: the Yankees. Like, he's been very valuable for a rotation
- 7:21Speaker 2: that didn't start the season with Garrett Cole. That's missed
- 7:24Speaker 2: a lot of Rodon. That's missed a lot of Max Fried.
- 7:27Speaker 2: And he's stepped up. What he's done has been super
- 7:30Speaker 2: valuable for the Yankees. But that doesn't make him the
- 7:35Speaker 2: most valuable player in the league. If we put that
- 7:37Speaker 2: graphic back up again, I have a hard time with
- 7:41Speaker 2: the one number that's on there if you're going to vote.
- 7:44Speaker 2: It's the one right underneath. He's 14-6, and it says games.
- 7:49Speaker 2: He's played in 31 games. Has he dominated those 31 games?
- 7:53Speaker 1: Absolutely. Has he done everything that he can do, maybe
- 7:58Speaker 1: even more? Absolutely.
- 8:00Speaker 2: But 31 games. We play 162 games in the big leagues.
- 8:05Speaker 2: So there's 131 more games that he could not have
- 8:09Speaker 2: any effect on. So that's where I say no to
- 8:13Speaker 2: the MVP.
- 8:15Speaker 3: Hey, today's episode is presented by the ASPCA Pet Health
- 8:18Speaker 3: Insurance Program. Krats, we love our pups.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Yes, I love my mini golden doodle, Bella. But you
- 8:25Speaker 2: can't miss this opportunity, just like Bella misses the ball
- 8:29Speaker 2: when you bounce it to her.
- 8:30Speaker 3: Bella, you're almost there. The ASPCA Pet Health Insurance Program
- 8:34Speaker 3: offers customizable accident and illness plans that can fit your budget,
- 8:38Speaker 3: your lifestyle, and even your pet's particular quirks. Because let's
- 8:41Speaker 3: be honest, vet bills can add up.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Fast.
- 8:44Speaker 3: ASPCA Pet Health Insurance has been around for almost 30
- 8:47Speaker 3: years and has covered over 1 million pets. To explore coverage,
- 8:51Speaker 3: visit ASPCAPetInsurance.com. That's ASPCAPetInsurance.com. Again, ASPCAPetInsurance.com. This is a paid advertisement.
- 9:03Speaker 3: Insurance is underwritten by either Independence American Insurance Company or
- 9:07Speaker 3: United States Fire Insurance Company and produced by PTZ Insurance
- 9:10Speaker 3: Agency Limited. The ASPCA is not an insurer and is
- 9:13Speaker 3: not engaged in the business of insurance.
- 9:16Speaker 1: A team, though, that is not struggling, not clashing, the
- 9:21Speaker 1: Tampa Bay Rays. The team the Yankees are chasing. They
- 9:23Speaker 1: clinched the division. Sorry, they clinched a playoff spot this
- 9:26Speaker 1: week and not the division yet, the playoff spot. They
- 9:29Speaker 1: swept the Astros, knocked them back down to 500. It
- 9:31Speaker 1: looked like the Astros are starting to gain a little
- 9:33Speaker 1: space between them and the rest of the West. They
- 9:35Speaker 1: go to Tampa, get the crap beat out of them
- 9:37Speaker 1: for three games, basically pitched awful. Gave up 100 runs
- 9:41Speaker 1: in three games. I know it wasn't 100, but it
- 9:42Speaker 1: seemed like 100. Every time you looked up, someone from
- 9:45Speaker 1: Tampa was trotting around the bases scoring runs. So how
- 9:48Speaker 1: good are the Rays? And how cool was what Yandy
- 9:52Speaker 1: Diaz celebrated with? He didn't go champagne. He went like
- 9:55Speaker 1: a full T-bone porterhouse. I don't even know. Tomahawk? What
- 10:00Speaker 1: do you call that thing? I don't know. You think
- 10:02Speaker 1: that guy's eating carbs with a body like that? Not
- 10:05Speaker 1: a chance.
- 10:06Speaker 2: He's going all protein. He's just holding a beer just because.
- 10:10Speaker 2: But to me, this series, I'm not sure where I
- 10:15Speaker 2: lean on it other than I was super impressed with
- 10:17Speaker 2: how many dingers the Rays were hitting. What will be,
- 10:21Speaker 2: in my opinion, probably a playoff team. Not a great
- 10:23Speaker 2: playoff team in the Astros, which I think the Astros,
- 10:27Speaker 2: that was the other part of this whole story, is
- 10:29Speaker 2: the Astros kind of played meh. They didn't play defense
- 10:34Speaker 2: very well. I didn't feel like they pitched very well,
- 10:37Speaker 2: especially when you go in and you face a team
- 10:40Speaker 2: that scores runs but doesn't hit a lot of dingers,
- 10:42Speaker 2: and you give up a decent amount of home runs
- 10:45Speaker 2: to a raised team that, You just don't expect that
- 10:49Speaker 2: much power. So did the Rays say, okay, well, this
- 10:52Speaker 2: is the type of team we're going to face. We'll
- 10:55Speaker 2: get our home run bats out. You know, I don't
- 10:57Speaker 2: think you just change overnight, but they know in the
- 11:00Speaker 2: playoffs it's going to take some dingers. And outside of Caminero,
- 11:04Speaker 2: you don't think of this team having a.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Lot of dingers.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Yandy's got over 20. Aranda hit his 21st or 22nd
- 11:11Speaker 2: when he went two homers.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Like, They can add some pop. They're going to be
- 11:16Speaker 1: scary in, I think, the division.
- 11:18Speaker 2: You almost said it, but you meant they clinched a
- 11:21Speaker 2: playoff spot.
- 11:23Speaker 1: I think the division is wrapped up. They've got a
- 11:27Speaker 1: four-game series against the Yankees in the Trop coming up here. Yeah,
- 11:33Speaker 1: I think it is, but if they just split that series,
- 11:36Speaker 1: it's over. The Rays are so hard to beat at
- 11:38Speaker 1: the Trop. I'm sure the Yankees will line up their pitching,
- 11:41Speaker 1: but The problem is if it's next week, that means
- 11:45Speaker 1: we're getting to the last week of the season, right?
- 11:47Speaker 1: And therefore, you've got to start thinking about, all right,
- 11:50Speaker 1: if we don't win this, we've got to start lining
- 11:51Speaker 1: up our pitching for the Red Sox who are going
- 11:53Speaker 1: to be playing in the wild card round. So how
- 11:57Speaker 1: do we do that? So they're kind of a little
- 11:59Speaker 1: bit eye on the future. But why we have these standings–
- 12:01Speaker 1: and by the way, Yandy Diaz, epic celebration, just eating
- 12:03Speaker 1: the tomahawk off the bone. Pretty awesome. Never seen that
- 12:06Speaker 1: one before. Everyone has champagne beers. Awesome, Yandy. You deserve it.
- 12:09Speaker 1: I mean, if you have pipes like he does, go
- 12:11Speaker 1: for it. Can four teams from this division make the playoffs, Kratz?
- 12:14Speaker 1: That's another question. I mean, the Blue Jays are right there.
- 12:17Speaker 1: The Orioles, they lost a little steam because they played
- 12:20Speaker 1: the Blue Jays, lost two out of three. But the
- 12:22Speaker 1: Blue Jays, can there be four teams? I mean, the Rays, Yankees,
- 12:25Speaker 1: and Red Sox are in. Okay, let's just– they're in.
- 12:27Speaker 1: But can the Blue Jays sneak in and be that
- 12:29Speaker 1: four team and have four teams from the AL East
- 12:32Speaker 1: in what's a pretty crappy American league sneak into the postseason? Yeah,
- 12:38Speaker 1: pretty crappy. Can they?
- 12:39Speaker 2: Can they? Man, we've been talking about this for two
- 12:42Speaker 2: weeks and we still got two more weeks of it.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Now I'm kind of excited about it. Before I had said,
- 12:46Speaker 2: I don't really care about the AL wildcard. Like it just,
- 12:50Speaker 2: it's boring. I'm going to watch a team win two,
- 12:53Speaker 2: lose two. Win three, lose four. Like none of these
- 12:58Speaker 2: teams are showing me that they're like, oh, we're going
- 13:01Speaker 2: to get in here. The intriguing part for me with
- 13:04Speaker 2: the Jays is the fact that, yes, we're wearing our
- 13:07Speaker 2: Guardians and White Sox shirts today. They're going to play
- 13:11Speaker 2: each other. If one of those teams comes into this
- 13:15Speaker 2: series and sweeps out the other team and the Jays
- 13:19Speaker 2: get in and the White Sox are knocked out, that's
- 13:22Speaker 2: the intriguing part for the Jays. I just don't feel
- 13:25Speaker 2: like what I see from the Jays is worth me
- 13:28Speaker 2: being like, yeah, you know, I want to see them
- 13:30Speaker 2: in the playoffs. I just don't know. Yes, it was
- 13:34Speaker 2: magical last year. I don't think they have that magic, but.
- 13:38Speaker 2: You get in in the playoffs with the American League,
- 13:41Speaker 2: you might make a run just because you might not
- 13:45Speaker 2: have to play the Yankees or the Rays for a
- 13:46Speaker 2: little bit.
- 13:49Speaker 1: True. True. But, I mean, the Blue Jays get in, okay?
- 13:54Speaker 1: Then they're going to play the Astros or the Rangers
- 13:56Speaker 1: in the first round, okay? That's a winnable series for
- 13:59Speaker 1: me against either one. If you run Cease and those
- 14:02Speaker 1: guys that they have out there, okay, I'm sorry, Cease
- 14:04Speaker 1: and Soriano, and then you get to Louis Varlin as
- 14:06Speaker 1: quick as possible. That's a winnable, even on the road,
- 14:09Speaker 1: that's a winnable series for them. Okay. And then let's
- 14:12Speaker 1: say they win that. Then they get to play the
- 14:14Speaker 1: White Sox or, I mean, if the White Sox hold
- 14:16Speaker 1: on or the Guardians, depending on where they stand, the
- 14:18Speaker 1: two seed. That's a winnable series too. But if you
- 14:23Speaker 1: have C Soriano in that bullpen and the way, I mean,
- 14:26Speaker 1: I'm sorry, those are both winnable series. Then all of
- 14:28Speaker 1: a sudden you're like, oh, damn. We got the Rays, Yankees,
- 14:31Speaker 1: Red Sox who beat up on each other. Oh, well,
- 14:33Speaker 1: guess what we get? We get to kind of sneak
- 14:35Speaker 1: in the back door and try to get back to
- 14:37Speaker 1: the World Series again on a team that's not very good.
- 14:39Speaker 1: I mean, if they get in, they're dangerous. And, again,
- 14:42Speaker 1: we've talked about this, and we love what they did
- 14:43Speaker 1: at the trade deadline because they did not only, yes,
- 14:47Speaker 1: they lost Gosman, but he's on an expiring contract. Yes,
- 14:49Speaker 1: they made some moves. But they also brought in Soriano,
- 14:52Speaker 1: who's been a stud for him since he's got there.
- 14:54Speaker 1: He's pitched well, right? Okamoto's had a great year. If
- 14:56Speaker 1: they get Vlad figured out, Man, I mean, Bateman came
- 15:00Speaker 1: in for Varshow. They haven't missed a beat defensively. He's
- 15:02Speaker 1: been great offensively. If they can get those guys going,
- 15:07Speaker 1: this could be a dangerous team if, I know if, if, if,
- 15:10Speaker 1: if's the biggest word in the world, if they get in.
- 15:13Speaker 2: So are we going to look at the last two
- 15:15Speaker 2: weeks of the season and disregard the 131 other games?
- 15:17Speaker 1: Yes. Yes, we are. Yes.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Okay.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Because you know why? Because if they get in, yes,
- 15:23Speaker 1: because if they get in, it's like in football, right? Okay, well, look,
- 15:27Speaker 1: I know it's football weekend, so it's just started, but
- 15:29Speaker 1: A team goes, you know, 8-9 or 9-8, and they
- 15:32Speaker 1: win their division, and they get to host a team
- 15:34Speaker 1: that went 12-4, but they're 12-5. They're a wild card team.
- 15:37Speaker 1: But they get that home game, and they beat them, right?
- 15:41Speaker 1: And you disregard it, and then they have a chance.
- 15:43Speaker 1: But in baseball, especially the short series, the wild card series,
- 15:49Speaker 1: we've got to win two games in three. And you
- 15:51Speaker 1: go see Soriano, and then whoever they want to run
- 15:53Speaker 1: out there for the third game, whoever that is, Arrighetti,
- 15:56Speaker 1: they want to do an opener, whoever that is, That's
- 16:00Speaker 1: a tough matchup. I'm sorry for any team. Especially for
- 16:03Speaker 1: an Astros team or a Guardians team or a Rangers team.
- 16:07Speaker 1: That's a tough matchup. Alright, pretty cool moment here. Although
- 16:12Speaker 1: I'm not a big Immaculate Inning guy, Kratz. Sorry, I'm
- 16:14Speaker 1: just really not. Peyton Tolley threw an Immaculate Inning first
- 16:18Speaker 1: inning to start the game. Him and Adley Rutschman sharing
- 16:21Speaker 1: a hug. They seem to think it's pretty cool. I
- 16:23Speaker 1: don't know. It was never a thing. I never even
- 16:25Speaker 1: heard about an Immaculate Inning until a few years ago. So,
- 16:28Speaker 1: I don't know. I never went up there and was like, man,
- 16:30Speaker 1: nine-pitch inning. It was more like, hey, can we get
- 16:32Speaker 1: a three-pitch inning? That would be more of an immaculate
- 16:35Speaker 1: inning than a nine-pitch inning, right?
- 16:37Speaker 2: That would be tremendous. I think– I don't know. Maybe
- 16:40Speaker 2: it's not rare in travel ball, a three-pitch inning.
- 16:43Speaker 1: No, not at all.
- 16:45Speaker 2: 122 of them ever? I feel like we need to
- 16:48Speaker 2: be able to talk about it. Like, I would have
- 16:50Speaker 2: guessed the numbers higher. I remember I caught one in 2016–
- 16:57Speaker 2: And when I was at the Pirates.
- 16:59Speaker 1: And in the moment, I had no idea. So for
- 17:02Speaker 1: Peyton Tolley.
- 17:02Speaker 2: To, like, look into the dugout and go, before the
- 17:07Speaker 2: first pitch, this guy's starting to become a folk hero.
- 17:11Speaker 2: Almost like Mickey Gasper-esque in Boston. No, Peyton Tolley's awesome.
- 17:16Speaker 2: And by the way, Justin Martinez threw one on Friday.
- 17:18Speaker 2: So they're not that rare.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Here's the thing. Like you said, you call it when
- 17:23Speaker 1: he seems rare. I don't even know that I ever
- 17:25Speaker 1: caught one. Not that I even cared. It wasn't like, oh, man, cool,
- 17:28Speaker 1: an immaculate inning. I don't even– maybe I caught one.
- 17:31Speaker 1: I have no idea. But I know I caught a no-hitter,
- 17:33Speaker 1: and I know I caught a perfect game. So that's
- 17:35Speaker 1: kind of cool, right? But like an immaculate inning. It
- 17:39Speaker 1: wasn't like I was going through my career going, man,
- 17:40Speaker 1: I caught an immaculate inning. Check. No, not at all.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Tony Vitello, Alex Pavlovich. Tony Vitello said, this specific issue
- 17:50Speaker 1: has sometimes bothered Rafael Devers for years. The expectation he'll
- 17:54Speaker 1: have surgery on Tuesday to fix it. Giants have known
- 17:57Speaker 1: for a while that he could need it, and Vitello
- 17:58Speaker 1: said they pushed as deep into the season as was reasonable.
- 18:04Speaker 1: So that means that Rafi Devers is shut down for
- 18:07Speaker 1: the season, core muscle injury, and then he also said
- 18:10Speaker 1: they'll have a, Alex Pavlovich said, Tony Vitello said they'll
- 18:12Speaker 1: have a conversation about whether or not to shut down
- 18:15Speaker 1: Logan Webb for the year. It's been a rough stretch,
- 18:17Speaker 1: and the season started early with the WBC. You know
- 18:19Speaker 1: what this tells me, Kratzy? Giants aren't very good. And actually,
- 18:22Speaker 1: Rafi Devers had a good season. If you look at
- 18:23Speaker 1: his slash line, he had a really good year, right,
- 18:26Speaker 1: for playing with a core injury, which for people who
- 18:27Speaker 1: don't know is basically a hernia. Okay, it's a hernia,
- 18:30Speaker 1: but now they call it a core injury because they
- 18:31Speaker 1: don't want to call it a hernia. I don't know. Whatever. Hernia,
- 18:34Speaker 1: core injury, whatever it is. Rafi Devers had a good year. Now, defensively, okay. Offensively,
- 18:39Speaker 1: he had a really good year. Logan Webb had his
- 18:41Speaker 1: normal year. I mean, you know, he's had some good starts.
- 18:44Speaker 1: He's had really good starts. He's had a couple bad starts,
- 18:46Speaker 1: but fine. You want to shut him down? You know
- 18:47Speaker 1: what that tells me again? The Giants aren't very good.
- 18:50Speaker 1: And they don't need these guys. They want to look
- 18:51Speaker 1: at some younger players. Good for them.
- 18:53Speaker 2: I think it might be tough to shut Logan Webb down.
- 18:56Speaker 2: He's a guy that makes all his starts. So I
- 18:58Speaker 2: don't know that he'll want to miss any of his starts.
- 19:00Speaker 2: But Devers' year. Devers, you look at OPS Plus. Devers
- 19:06Speaker 2: has been a superstar producer his entire career. He has
- 19:10Speaker 2: an OPS Plus of 130 in his career. He's 12
- 19:14Speaker 2: points higher than that this year. A year where he
- 19:17Speaker 2: started out slow. Very impressive in San Francisco. Expect big
- 19:22Speaker 2: things next year.
- 19:27Speaker 3: No, we didn't plan this. And also, no, Kratts, we're
- 19:30Speaker 3: not wearing the same exact Mack Weldon shirts. I've got
- 19:33Speaker 3: a green and you've got the heather blue.
- 19:36Speaker 1: I do. I do.
- 19:37Speaker 2: And the whole array of colors. There's so many to
- 19:40Speaker 2: choose from with Mack Weldon. And not just in your shirts.
- 19:43Speaker 2: In everything that you get.
- 19:45Speaker 3: We also should talk about the Air Knit X collection.
- 19:48Speaker 1: It is.

- 20:27Speaker 1: Dodds Leckie. Bryce Harper circled the bases in 34.27 seconds.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Whoever times this needs to get a life. His longest
- 20:34Speaker 1: trot on Undisputed Homer under StatCast. Coincidently, it followed Ronald
- 20:37Speaker 1: Acuna Jr. 's 32.36 second trot on Sunday in Philly.
- 20:42Speaker 1: Harper's average trot this season is 26.91 seconds. Yes, Bryce
- 20:46Speaker 1: Harper was sending a message, Craig. Yes, he did it
- 20:48Speaker 1: on purpose. Yes, I kind of like it. And yes,
- 20:51Speaker 1: the Braves kicked their ass yesterday after he did it.
- 20:53Speaker 1: So at least he had that going for him.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, it kind of backfired for him. I
- 20:58Speaker 2: guess they got their point across. But it all stems
- 21:01Speaker 2: back to the Cunha home run that Wheeler said, hey,
- 21:05Speaker 2: you know what, I didn't really have that big a
- 21:07Speaker 2: deal up about it, but we have a guy that
- 21:10Speaker 2: hits 50 of them and he doesn't do that.
- 21:12Speaker 1: And then everyone said the same thing. Oh, it doesn't
- 21:15Speaker 1: really bother us. Doesn't really. And then Harper does the
- 21:18Speaker 1: same thing. This is great.
- 21:20Speaker 2: We love inter-division rivals. We love when two of the
- 21:25Speaker 2: best teams in the National League play in the same division.
- 21:29Speaker 2: And we love the fact that they're kind of shooting
- 21:32Speaker 2: barbs at each other and will most likely meet up
- 21:34Speaker 2: in the playoffs.
- 21:36Speaker 1: True, true. And the Braves won two out of three
- 21:38Speaker 1: against the Phillies to solidify their lead in the National
- 21:40Speaker 1: League East. Pretty easily, too. The second game was pretty easily. Yeah,
- 21:45Speaker 1: they beat up on them pretty good. But, hey, you
- 21:46Speaker 1: know what? It's still going down to the end. The Braves,
- 21:49Speaker 1: everyone keeps questioning the Braves pitching. Martin Perez just goes
- 21:52Speaker 1: out there like every– it gives them five innings every time.
- 21:54Speaker 1: It's like, oh, Martin Perez, five innings. Just those change-up, change-up,
- 21:57Speaker 1: change-up veteran guy. He's been unbelievable for them. Obviously, Chris
- 22:00Speaker 1: Sale has been really good for them. So, hey. I
- 22:03Speaker 1: love it, Harper. I think it's great. Atta boy, Harper. But, yeah,
- 22:06Speaker 1: it would have been nice for the New England game. Sorry.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Tyler Malley. True, too. Also good. That's what he said.
- 22:23Speaker 1: That's what he said, presented by Lorinko. Yeah, we're going
- 22:26Speaker 1: to start with this Wilson Contreras thing again. Is it? Listen,
- 22:31Speaker 1: Wilson Contreras is entertaining as hell. And listen, as somebody
- 22:34Speaker 1: that was always in the middle of a bunch of crap,
- 22:36Speaker 1: I get it. But is it every week that it's
- 22:39Speaker 1: something with Wilson Contreras where he's doing something or he's
- 22:42Speaker 1: involved in something and it's like, oh, you know, whatever.
- 22:45Speaker 1: It's Wilson. Being Wilson. Or does this just keep getting
- 22:49Speaker 1: blown out of proportion?
- 22:51Speaker 2: Well, I think some of it's blown out of proportion,
- 22:53Speaker 2: but I think it's gotten a little bit too much
- 22:56Speaker 2: for one season. Look, you were– whatever words you want
- 23:00Speaker 2: to use, you played the heel, you were, you weren't
- 23:02Speaker 2: looking to make friends with the other team. Your stuff
- 23:06Speaker 2: was really kind of kept to me. It was kind
- 23:09Speaker 2: of kept like within the baseball community in the sense
- 23:12Speaker 2: of like, Oh man, what's, what's AJ.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Why, why, why is he talking to me the entire bat?
- 23:17Speaker 2: Why, why would he be, why would he be cussing
- 23:19Speaker 2: me out during my bat for squaring a bump, whatever,
- 23:21Speaker 2: whatever it was, you know, and then people take like
- 23:24Speaker 2: smatterings of things you did throughout your 19 seasons. Like,
- 23:29Speaker 2: That's 19 seasons and you can find six things that
- 23:34Speaker 2: were like instances. We're talking about five or six things
- 23:38Speaker 2: that Wilson has done this year. I feel like he's
- 23:41Speaker 2: come out of his shell a little bit in the
- 23:43Speaker 2: sense of like the Red Sox needed a veteran leader
- 23:46Speaker 2: and they got him and I don't think he's necessarily
- 23:49Speaker 2: a leader. I think he's an energy guy that has
- 23:53Speaker 2: kind of like Really come out of his shell. It's
- 23:56Speaker 2: an all-star season for him. He was their offensive piece,
- 24:01Speaker 2: and he's had a great year. And it's just the
- 24:04Speaker 2: whole no Pintar thing is another instance. I'm not saying
- 24:10Speaker 2: he was wrong. Why the umpire wouldn't let him get Pintar?
- 24:15Speaker 1: Stop.
- 24:16Speaker 2: If it's a rule in the minor leagues, I don't
- 24:17Speaker 2: know about it. Why you wouldn't be able to take
- 24:19Speaker 2: a timeout and go get Pintar? The dude's there in
- 24:22Speaker 2: big league rehab. Like, he's got one ear flap. Let
- 24:26Speaker 2: him get pine tar. He's not trying to game the system.
- 24:28Speaker 2: He's trying to get his work in. And this will
- 24:30Speaker 2: keep big leaguers from going down to get rehabs done
- 24:33Speaker 2: if this kind of stuff, like, if you don't just
- 24:37Speaker 2: have some feel.
- 24:37Speaker 1: All right, so what we're talking about is Wilson Contreras
- 24:40Speaker 1: is on a AAA rehab. We need to go get
- 24:43Speaker 1: pine tar. Double A. Double A, sorry. He was in rehab.
- 24:47Speaker 1: The umpire said you can't go get pine tar. And
- 24:49Speaker 1: then he just basically– gave up the bat. He just
- 24:52Speaker 1: stood there and didn't even try to swing. What's funny
- 24:54Speaker 1: is the pitcher still had a hard time to get
- 24:56Speaker 1: over the plate, but he just kind of stood there
- 24:59Speaker 1: and like, just was like, okay, well I can't swing.
- 25:02Speaker 1: So yeah, he misses, you know, here, here's the whole thing. Just,
- 25:06Speaker 1: I don't know. He asked for pine tar. The umpire says, no.
- 25:09Speaker 1: The umpire's like, get back here. Umpire's got some nice
- 25:12Speaker 1: lettuce under his mask. He's like, wait, no pine tar.
- 25:15Speaker 1: So then Wilson comes back. He's like, why not? Look,
- 25:17Speaker 1: I got one ear flap. You have a mullet, uh,
- 25:19Speaker 1: throw the pitch, just throw a fastball. He basically singles.
- 25:22Speaker 1: And then he just doesn't even try, which to me
- 25:25Speaker 1: is absolutely hilarious. I mean, okay. And then umpire calls
- 25:29Speaker 1: a strike and then he throws a couple more pitches, whatever.
- 25:31Speaker 1: But he didn't even think about swinging. And it's just,
- 25:37Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know if I should like,
- 25:39Speaker 1: do I feel like I should like this? I don't know.
- 25:43Speaker 1: It's just an interesting thing. I know when I went
- 25:45Speaker 1: on rehab, the couple times I went on rehab, he
- 25:47Speaker 1: talks in the hump for a while. But when I
- 25:49Speaker 1: went on rehab, I took those serious because I was like,
- 25:51Speaker 1: I want to get back to the big leagues as
- 25:53Speaker 1: soon as possible. I don't know, Kratz. It's just one
- 25:58Speaker 1: thing after the other. It's kind of funny. I'm glad
- 26:00Speaker 1: he steps out. I mean, the guy knows he's not swinging,
- 26:03Speaker 1: and he almost walks him. It's like when Miguel Vargas
- 26:05Speaker 1: told everyone he wasn't swinging, and he still couldn't throw
- 26:07Speaker 1: him strikes. He's like, I'm not swinging. Yeah, it's like
- 26:11Speaker 1: I'm not swinging. I can't swing. I have pine tar.
- 26:13Speaker 1: If I swing, I'm going to throw the bat. And
- 26:15Speaker 1: I think the pitcher didn't believe him when he said
- 26:17Speaker 1: just throw heaters because I'm not going to swing because
- 26:20Speaker 1: it took him a bunch of pitches to finally punch
- 26:22Speaker 1: him out. Wilson goes back. And then anyways, let's hear
- 26:25Speaker 1: what Wilson Contreras had to swing. And then I love
- 26:27Speaker 1: that he just dropped his bat in the middle on
- 26:29Speaker 1: the way back. Like that normally would get you ejected,
- 26:31Speaker 1: but at least he had enough sense to not eject him.
- 26:34Speaker 1: Let's hear from Wilson.
- 26:37Speaker 2: What was going on with the pine tar situation there
- 26:40Speaker 2: in your fourth inning at-bat?
- 26:43Speaker 1: I don't know. You can go ask the umpire. He's
- 26:44Speaker 1: named me Gary. Thank you. His name is Gary. His
- 26:49Speaker 1: name was Gary. At least he got his name right,
- 26:51Speaker 1: I think. I don't know. I've never seen anything like this.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Every guy I ever saw, like when I was in
- 26:57Speaker 1: the minor leagues, every guy that was on the rehab
- 27:00Speaker 1: assignment treated it as professional behavior. And as like, this
- 27:04Speaker 1: is cause they all wanted to set a good example
- 27:06Speaker 1: for all the other people. Whenever it was like the
- 27:08Speaker 1: greatest thing ever. When we had a guy come down
- 27:10Speaker 1: on re-ent, we're like, we're going to get a great
- 27:11Speaker 1: spread and we're going to get to play with a
- 27:13Speaker 1: big league player. And he's going to show us how
- 27:15Speaker 1: to go about our business the way they do it
- 27:18Speaker 1: in the major leagues. Right. Am I wrong in that?
- 27:20Speaker 1: And then to see this, it's like, Whoa, this is
- 27:22Speaker 1: like a complete opposite end of the spectrum from where
- 27:26Speaker 1: I thought this would go.
- 27:27Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it definitely, it's definitely not a good look. And,
- 27:32Speaker 2: just adds to like the four or five, six things
- 27:34Speaker 2: that he's done this year so far. So Wilson, yes,
- 27:38Speaker 2: we will turn the TV on when, when Wilson's doing
- 27:41Speaker 2: his thing.
- 27:43Speaker 1: Yes. It's entertaining. It's entertaining. I'll say that. Listen, he's always,
- 27:49Speaker 1: he's always entertaining whenever he takes the field. There's always something.
- 27:52Speaker 1: There's always, it's always been like this though for, for
- 27:54Speaker 1: a while. I mean, I mean, ever since he first
- 27:56Speaker 1: came up with the Cubs, there's always been something with
- 27:59Speaker 1: Wilson Contreras and you know, It is what it is,
- 28:02Speaker 1: and he's had a great career. He's had an unbelievable career.
- 28:04Speaker 1: He's freaking mashed this year for the Red Sox, but
- 28:07Speaker 1: there's just always something. Trust me, take it from someone
- 28:10Speaker 1: that's been there, done that. It's not an easy life
- 28:13Speaker 1: to live, but if you buy into it, it'll make
- 28:15Speaker 1: you a lot of money and get you on shows
- 28:17Speaker 1: like Foul Territory. I don't know. It's always something with Wilson.
- 28:23Speaker 1: But anyways, he had the benches-clearing thing with the Brewers.
- 28:26Speaker 1: The Twins, he had a benches-clearing. He had the thing
- 28:28Speaker 1: with Antonacci. And the Yankees, I mean, it's like one
- 28:31Speaker 1: thing after the other. Check swing, he got ejected. You know,
- 28:34Speaker 1: he said he was because Venezuela, and he hit the
- 28:36Speaker 1: home run, and it was because Venezuela had the earthquake.
- 28:39Speaker 1: I mean, it was like, it's like one thing after
- 28:40Speaker 1: the other. Okay, we got it. You're the man, Wilson.
- 28:43Speaker 1: We love you, and I love watching you do your stuff.
- 28:45Speaker 1: So just keep doing it because it's not me, and
- 28:47Speaker 1: I don't have to deal with it. Lorenco, baseball fans,

- 29:10Speaker 1: can help you get you there. So SeatGeek, there's some
- 29:12Speaker 1: great series this week. Obviously top of the list, White Sox, Guardians, Cratch,
- 29:16Speaker 1: show your, show your, show your shirt. And by the way,
- 29:20Speaker 1: if you have a White Sox hat on your freaking trainer, uh, but, uh,
- 29:25Speaker 1: If you want to go to that game, that's the game. Obviously,
- 29:26Speaker 1: those are the next three days of the games I'm
- 29:28Speaker 1: going to be watching. But also Atlanta, the Cubs, possible
- 29:31Speaker 1: playoff preview. One that could be a playoff preview there.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Yankees always win in Minnesota. I don't know why that's
- 29:37Speaker 1: even on the list. San Diego's just going to start. hot.
- 29:40Speaker 1: It's all fire. They're going to Colorado. But there is
- 29:43Speaker 1: one other big game, Cradsey. The Polar Bear, Pete, returns
- 29:47Speaker 1: to the city field for the first time. So I'm
- 29:50Speaker 1: going to be interested to see what kind of reaction
- 29:52Speaker 1: he gets.
- 29:53Speaker 3: Huge.
- 29:54Speaker 2: Huge. Nobody is going to be pissed at Pete. There
- 29:59Speaker 2: should be no boos. If you boo Pete Alonzo, you're
- 30:03Speaker 2: a casual Met fan and you have no idea what
- 30:05Speaker 2: just happened.
- 30:07Speaker 1: True. Agreed. I hope he gets a huge, huge ovation.
- 30:12Speaker 1: They should do a video montage. They should play, there
- 30:14Speaker 1: goes my hero. Right? When they do the montage. Whatever
- 30:18Speaker 1: his song was, they should play it. You know, Stu
- 30:20Speaker 1: Homer shy of 300 would be pretty cool if he
- 30:22Speaker 1: hit it. In city field, leads the league in RBIs,
- 30:26Speaker 1: got to 100 yesterday. He's having an unbelievable year. You
- 30:29Speaker 1: think they could use that in the middle of their lineup,
- 30:31Speaker 1: playing first base every day for the Mets? Probably not,
- 30:34Speaker 1: but it would look nice. Soto, Lindor, Pete Alonso, is
- 30:41Speaker 1: that good? Yeah. Then you throw in the young kids.
- 30:44Speaker 1: I mean, you throw in Ewing and– And, gosh, I
- 30:48Speaker 1: just blanked on the other guy. Bench. You're doing Bench
- 30:49Speaker 1: and Ewing. I mean, and then Alvarez when he's right.
- 30:52Speaker 1: That's a pretty good start to a lineup there. But, hey,
- 30:54Speaker 1: you know what? The formula didn't have Pete coming back. So,
- 30:56Speaker 1: it's understandable. That's right. Sometimes you've got to knock in
- 31:00Speaker 1: more than you let in. Just one of those things.
- 31:03Speaker 1: You know, Yankees are twins. Yankees always win against Minnesota.
- 31:07Speaker 1: That shouldn't even be a.
- 31:08Speaker 2: I'm watching whoever Toronto's playing. If you're going on SeatGeek,
- 31:11Speaker 2: wherever Toronto's at, home against the Tigers or on the road,
- 31:15Speaker 2: that's the games you got to lock in because they
- 31:17Speaker 2: got a shot.
- 31:18Speaker 1: They do. They sure do. And the Rangers, we're going
- 31:20Speaker 1: to speak to Evan Grant coming up here. They also
- 31:22Speaker 1: have a shot. So the Rangers-Astros battle down to the
- 31:27Speaker 1: end is going to be interesting. So get your tickets
- 31:30Speaker 1: here on SeatGeek. It's time to– Lock into the playoffs.
- 31:36Speaker 1: Lock into what games you want to see. Go to SeatGeek.

- 31:49Speaker 1: On deck. Presented by Fox One. I love Fox and
- 31:52Speaker 1: I love Fox One. I watched it this weekend while
- 31:54Speaker 1: I was driving. And I watched the football games on
- 31:56Speaker 1: Fox One. Sorry, I mean when I was at home.
- 31:59Speaker 2: We recommend watching Fox One. It was when I was parked.
- 32:03Speaker 2: It was when I was parked. I was in the backseat.
- 32:06Speaker 1: I was in the backseat. Very nice. Very nice. Someone
- 32:08Speaker 1: else was driving and I was in the backseat. Okay.
- 32:10Speaker 1: Let's look at the National League races. I mean, there
- 32:12Speaker 1: aren't really a lot of races in the National League.
- 32:14Speaker 1: That's the one thing that you have to understand. I mean,
- 32:18Speaker 1: other than the Padres are on fire. And let's give
- 32:20Speaker 1: our cookies to Fernando Tatis. Listen, we were as critical
- 32:25Speaker 1: on Fernando Tatis Jr. as anyone alive. But look at
- 32:28Speaker 1: his numbers and what he's done. Yeah. I mean, I
- 32:29Speaker 1: raised my hand. We were both like, you don't have
- 32:31Speaker 1: any homers? But he is having a really good year,
- 32:33Speaker 1: and he's leading the Padres. They've kind of started to
- 32:36Speaker 1: pull away from the Diamondbacks, making it to where that
- 32:38Speaker 1: last series of the year might not mean anything, but
- 32:41Speaker 1: they're led by Fernando Tatis, Manny Machado's turnaround, Jackson Merrill's
- 32:44Speaker 1: having a really good year all of a sudden. Their
- 32:46Speaker 1: pitching has always been solid, but the Padres are really
- 32:49Speaker 1: starting to separate right now.
- 32:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, when you get up to it, I mean,
- 32:53Speaker 2: they're hoping to get a wild card home game, possibly,
- 32:58Speaker 2: because they're only one and a half, I think, behind
- 33:01Speaker 2: the Cubs and Phillies, who haven't been playing stellar. I
- 33:06Speaker 2: think the Phillies are like a little under, I think
- 33:08Speaker 2: they're like 4-6 in their last 10. Cubs are right
- 33:11Speaker 2: around 5-5. Padres are trying to make that run. You
- 33:15Speaker 2: watch the game, maybe they're getting a little bit gassed
- 33:19Speaker 2: in the sense of like, who do they go to
- 33:21Speaker 2: out of the bullpen? How does that work the last
- 33:24Speaker 2: two weeks of the year here if all three of
- 33:26Speaker 2: these teams are are pushing for that home field advantage.
- 33:31Speaker 2: Do they get a little gassed and have to go
- 33:33Speaker 2: and play a three-game series without any days off? All
- 33:36Speaker 2: stuff we'll figure out in the playoffs. But Fernando Tatis
- 33:39Speaker 2: has been hot. Jackson Merrill and Fernando Tatis really have
- 33:44Speaker 2: carried this team offensively. And ho-hum, Manny Machado is almost
- 33:48Speaker 2: at 30 homers. I think he's got 29 maybe. But
- 33:54Speaker 2: I have to give Fernando his flowers. Because when I
- 33:58Speaker 2: have been roasted by Padres fans, by the truthful statement
- 34:05Speaker 2: that I made, and he has gotten to his new
- 34:12Speaker 2: normal season average of 20 to 25 home runs. It's very,
- 34:17Speaker 2: very impressive what he's done. He's been able to not
- 34:20Speaker 2: only have more home runs, than I think anybody since
- 34:25Speaker 2: the beginning of August, but he's still able to drive balls–
- 34:29Speaker 2: drive guys in. Like the other– let's see, was it
- 34:33Speaker 2: yesterday's game? Yesterday's game, he hit two or three ground
- 34:36Speaker 2: balls right up the middle to drive the run in
- 34:38Speaker 2: with a runner on third, a runner on second. Like
- 34:41Speaker 2: he's been able to adjust his swing where early it
- 34:44Speaker 2: was all ground balls, all opposite field, very closed off stance.
- 34:48Speaker 2: Now when they need him, he'll drive the ball out
- 34:52Speaker 2: of the ballpark, but he'll also– Drive the ball on
- 34:54Speaker 2: the ground the opposite way to drive runs in. And
- 34:58Speaker 2: those are the things that you look at when hitters
- 35:00Speaker 2: learn to, you know, kind of be who they are.
- 35:04Speaker 2: And maybe this is who Fernando Tatis is. 20 to
- 35:08Speaker 2: 25 homers a year. Plays platinum glove defense in right field.
- 35:14Speaker 2: Please don't play him at second base because he's way
- 35:16Speaker 2: more valuable on right. And the Padres are reaping the
- 35:20Speaker 2: benefits of it. Almost the number one wild card spot.
- 35:25Speaker 1: True, true. I don't know if they're going to catch that.
- 35:27Speaker 1: I mean, they're a game and a half behind the
- 35:28Speaker 1: Cubs and Phillies, but they also lost the tiebreaker to
- 35:31Speaker 1: both those teams. So it's really two and a half games.
- 35:33Speaker 1: So it's not, it's not that close, but I mean,
- 35:37Speaker 1: they're a dangerous opponent, right? I mean, listen, the Dodgers
- 35:39Speaker 1: and Braves are fighting for the two seed and whoever
- 35:42Speaker 1: gets has to, whichever team wins or does wins that
- 35:46Speaker 1: two seed can take a little bit of a breather
- 35:49Speaker 1: because whoever gets the three seeds going to have to
- 35:51Speaker 1: play a hot Padres team more than likely. And, yes,
- 35:53Speaker 1: if it's Atlanta, the Padres will have to fly across country, fine, whatever. But, again,
- 35:57Speaker 1: you get this rotation and you get this bullpen with
- 36:01Speaker 1: these guys swinging it the way they're swinging it. They're
- 36:04Speaker 1: a dangerous team. I'm sorry. They're dangerous. They're a dangerous
- 36:08Speaker 1: team in a three-game series, a five-game series. Seven games,
- 36:12Speaker 1: it gets a little bit wonky because how much they
- 36:14Speaker 1: rely on their bullpen. But, still, in a three-game series,
- 36:18Speaker 1: five-game series, I would not want to have to play
- 36:19Speaker 1: the Padres. So, if that's the Braves, don't forget the Padres–
- 36:23Speaker 1: last time they played in the playoffs, the Padres hammered
- 36:26Speaker 1: the Braves. So it wasn't like even a thing. So
- 36:30Speaker 1: I don't want, this is not a team I want
- 36:31Speaker 1: to play, but let's give them, let's give them their flowers.
- 36:33Speaker 1: And by the way, I think the, the, the, the
- 36:38Speaker 1: buy in the wild card or the buy for the
- 36:40Speaker 1: division win, obviously the Brewers are going to have one,
- 36:43Speaker 1: but whoever that is, and I think it'll still be
- 36:44Speaker 1: the Dodgers. That is a huge thing for the Dodgers
- 36:47Speaker 1: to try to line up their pitching along with the
- 36:49Speaker 1: Brewers lining up their pitching for whoever they'll face. So,
- 36:53Speaker 1: Not all the races are over. They seem like they're over,
- 36:55Speaker 1: but there are some underlying races that are still fun
- 36:59Speaker 1: to watch in the National League. American League, way more
- 37:01Speaker 1: fun to watch, way more drama. So, I don't know.
- 37:04Speaker 1: Tune into Fox 1. MLB on Fox is streaming on

- 37:33Speaker 1: at foxone.com. All right. Byron Buxton set to undergo season-ending
- 37:40Speaker 1: right hip surgery on September 18th. His hip issues date
- 37:43Speaker 1: back to 2021 and flare up again this May, resulting
- 37:46Speaker 1: in three IL stints this season. Byron Buxton, please get healthy.
- 37:50Speaker 1: You're an unbelievable player when you're right. It's a knee,
- 37:53Speaker 1: it's a hip, it's a something, something, something with Byron.
- 37:55Speaker 1: When he's on the field, he's one of the best
- 37:57Speaker 1: players in the league. So whatever you need to get done, Byron,
- 38:00Speaker 1: get it done and be ready for 2027 whenever that
- 38:03Speaker 1: season starts. Get the hip right and maybe the knee
- 38:07Speaker 1: doesn't get hurt. So good for the Twins. I get it.
- 38:10Speaker 1: They were in this whole time. They were in it.
- 38:13Speaker 2: And just recently have fallen out. But I think it's
- 38:16Speaker 2: the second best offense in baseball, the Minnesota Twins. Like,
- 38:22Speaker 2: I don't know what metric they're following, but you need
- 38:26Speaker 2: Byron Buxton back next year. You need to have him,
- 38:29Speaker 2: not just for the Twins, for Major League Baseball, because
- 38:31Speaker 2: he is electric and can do some crazy things.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Just get healthy, please. Seriously, please, please get healthy. And
- 38:40Speaker 1: by the way, Verlander, apparently Justin Verlander is going to
- 38:43Speaker 1: try to give it one more start in Detroit, I
- 38:45Speaker 1: think the last Saturday. Chris McCoskey, AJ Hinch said the
- 38:50Speaker 1: hope is that Verlander will be able to pitch on
- 38:51Speaker 1: the final Saturday of the season during Verfest at Comerica Park.
- 38:55Speaker 1: It's not a firm schedule. He has more, he has
- 38:57Speaker 1: a few more boxes to check, but that is the goal. Heck,
- 39:00Speaker 1: let him run out there for a pitch and just
- 39:01Speaker 1: get his flowers, get his ovation from the Comerica Park faithful.
- 39:04Speaker 1: They'll sell the game out, you know, go out there
- 39:07Speaker 1: for one pitch, throw one pitch. You don't even have
- 39:09Speaker 1: to do the whole warmup. Whoever you're playing, I don't
- 39:11Speaker 1: even know who they're playing. As long as it's not
- 39:13Speaker 1: a playoff team, Let him run out there, throw one pitch,
- 39:16Speaker 1: and you know what? Tell the hitter, don't swing. Or
- 39:18Speaker 1: you know what? Whoever the hitter is, go up there
- 39:20Speaker 1: and say, I'm going to throw three pitches and strike out.
- 39:23Speaker 1: I think that would be a cool thing to do.
- 39:24Speaker 1: I know we're competitors you don't want to do that
- 39:26Speaker 1: but the guys have been known when guys are playing
- 39:29Speaker 1: their last game of the year their career to groove
- 39:32Speaker 1: a guy a heater every once in a while let
- 39:34Speaker 1: him try and go deep so not the worst way
- 39:36Speaker 1: in the world not the worst thing in the world
- 39:37Speaker 1: if it happens that way just it'll be nice to
- 39:40Speaker 1: see Justin Verlander and Tigers uniform one more.
- 39:41Speaker 2: Time yep I hope you can make it back I
- 39:45Speaker 2: definitely do it'd be a cool way to send it
- 39:47Speaker 2: off pitch three innings and And then they get the
- 39:50Speaker 2: standing ovation on Verfest. I didn't realize there was going
- 39:53Speaker 2: to be a Verfest weekend.
- 39:56Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, three innings might be a little much
- 39:58Speaker 1: to ask for. But, I mean, how about one inning,
- 40:00Speaker 1: one hitter? I mean, just give them anything. Like, you
- 40:03Speaker 1: can have someone warming up with them if you're A.J. Hinch.
- 40:05Speaker 1: I mean, he does that anyways. Like, these teams do
- 40:07Speaker 1: this anyways. So, give them one hitter, one inning, one pitch.
- 40:11Speaker 1: Who cares? They're playing the Pirates. No problem with the
- 40:14Speaker 1: playoff game. They're out of it.
- 40:21Speaker 3: Eric Kratz, you're smart. You were a catcher in Major
- 40:24Speaker 3: League Baseball for a long time. You need to be
- 40:26Speaker 3: smart to be a catcher. And you also need to
- 40:28Speaker 3: be smart to get the best possible wireless plan that
- 40:33Speaker 3: you can get. Don't fall for the gimmicks or certain
- 40:36Speaker 3: types of sign-up bonuses. Just give me the cheap rate
- 40:40Speaker 3: and the premium wireless.
- 40:42Speaker 1: That's what Mint Mobile gives us. And you don't pay
- 40:45Speaker 1: a lot and you get a lot.
- 40:47Speaker 2: Hmm.
- 40:48Speaker 1: Seems like a no-brainer, even for what you said, a
- 40:51Speaker 1: smart guy. Yep, be smart.
- 40:53Speaker 3: Get your new wireless plan for just $ 15 a month.

- 41:10Speaker 3: and fees extra. Initial plan term only. Greater than 50

- 41:20Speaker 3: See mintmobile.com.
- 41:21Speaker 1: All right. Slap hands. We ran a poll, Kratz, on YouTube,
- 41:38Speaker 1: on our chat. Who would win the AL Central? Sam
- 41:40Speaker 1: Antonacci and the Chicago White Sox or Chase DeLauder and
- 41:44Speaker 1: the Cleveland Guardians? Who do you think won? Sam Antonacci
- 41:49Speaker 1: and the Chicago White Sox. They sure did. 51 to 49%.
- 41:53Speaker 1: A lot of faith in the White Sox. Thank you, people.
- 41:57Speaker 1: That's actually.
- 41:58Speaker 2: I'm going to preface this by we got a lot
- 42:02Speaker 2: of White Sox fans because we have A.J.
- 42:04Speaker 1: Pruszynski on the show.
- 42:06Speaker 2: So I think there's a lot of White Sox love,
- 42:09Speaker 2: but I don't know that all White Sox fans are trusting.
- 42:13Speaker 2: That they're going to win. So that might actually be
- 42:15Speaker 2: a negative there. I'm just saying.
- 42:17Speaker 1: I mean, what is it? The margin of error is
- 42:21Speaker 1: under 0.1%. So it's pretty accurate, by the way. It's
- 42:24Speaker 1: not quite 54% like certain teams are trying to win,
- 42:27Speaker 1: but 51% they'll take. 51% actually will get you into
- 42:32Speaker 1: the postseason in certain divisions this year. You don't even
- 42:34Speaker 1: need 54%. It's just 51%. 100% of the time it
- 42:35Speaker 1: works every time. Exactly. So just whatever you got to do,
- 42:44Speaker 1: you got to do to get to the postseason. You
- 42:45Speaker 1: don't care where we're– by the way, do you have
- 42:47Speaker 1: a White Sox hat on with a Guardians shirt? Yeah.
- 42:51Speaker 1: That's sacrilegious.
- 42:52Speaker 2: I'm like– Sacrilegious. I'm like Switzerland right now. I'm here
- 42:58Speaker 2: for the trolling. I'm here for whatever is needed. I
- 43:01Speaker 2: was thinking, I'm like, this is the biggest series of
- 43:03Speaker 2: the year for both teams. Why can't I wear both?
- 43:07Speaker 1: You know why one team is going to win today?
- 43:10Speaker 1: Because it's somebody's birthday today. Do you know whose birthday
- 43:12Speaker 1: it is today? I would assume the Pope. You got it.
- 43:18Speaker 1: You got it. And the White Sox cannot lose on
- 43:20Speaker 1: the Pope's birthday.
- 43:21Speaker 2: And that shows you exactly what you think of the
- 43:24Speaker 2: White Sox as a White Sox fan. You're hoping and
- 43:28Speaker 2: wishing for some way to believe that they're going to win.
- 43:31Speaker 2: Not confidence in the fact that Gavin Williams is pitching.
- 43:34Speaker 1: Nope. Like Sean Newcomb, as Josh Nelson said from Sox Machine,
- 43:39Speaker 1: Sean Newcomb has been nails for the White Sox.
- 43:41Speaker 2: I'm just saying a good team doesn't need gimmicks. Good
- 43:45Speaker 2: team doesn't need gimmicks. They don't need special birthdays for
- 43:49Speaker 2: the White Sox to win.
- 43:50Speaker 1: Not true. Not true. They need all the help they
- 43:53Speaker 1: can get. And we're a White Sox fan. Listen, we're
- 43:55Speaker 1: counting on all the papal help we can get. So
- 43:58Speaker 1: let's go Pope. Happy birthday, Pope Leo. That's my pal.
- 44:01Speaker 1: Happy birthday, buddy. Speaking of ex-White Sox, Dylan Cease unveiled
- 44:06Speaker 1: a new painting after his last painting, I believe, is
- 44:08Speaker 1: in the Museum of Art. Yes. New Dylan Cease original.
- 44:14Speaker 1: Tom Selleck. John Schneider said he said something about his mustache,
- 44:19Speaker 1: and people were saying it looks like Tom Selleck, so
- 44:21Speaker 1: I guess that was on his mind along with everything else.
- 44:25Speaker 2: Couldn't be farther off. Dylan Cease's mustache does not look
- 44:29Speaker 2: like Tom Selleck. It looks more like a standard trucker
- 44:34Speaker 2: driving across the Trans-Canadian Highway.
- 44:37Speaker 1: Especially with his hair. The hair is not Tom Selleck.
- 44:41Speaker 1: I also can't see Dylan Cease driving a 1983 Ferrari
- 44:44Speaker 1: like Tom Selleck had in Magnum PI, which was a
- 44:47Speaker 1: sweet car. What was the guy's name?
- 44:50Speaker 2: Gibbs?
- 44:50Speaker 1: What was the guy's name in that show, Magnum PI,
- 44:52Speaker 1: if you haven't seen it?
- 44:55Speaker 2: I don't know, but I was talking to somebody about
- 44:56Speaker 2: Tom Selleck's mustache the other day, and they were like,
- 44:59Speaker 2: you mean the guy on MacGyver?
- 45:00Speaker 1: I was like, no, Tom Selleck was not on MacGyver.
- 45:03Speaker 1: Another reason the White Sox are going to win. Do
- 45:06Speaker 1: you know what show Tom Selleck has been on recently?
- 45:09Speaker 1: Chicago Blue or something like that? Yes! Chicago's got to
- 45:11Speaker 1: win because we're talking Tom Selleck and it's the Pope's birthday.
- 45:15Speaker 1: Should have changed my luck.
- 45:18Speaker 2: You're like drafting a kicker in the second round of
- 45:23Speaker 2: a fantasy draft.
- 45:24Speaker 1: You're reaching right now. By the way, speaking of fantasy drafts,
- 45:28Speaker 1: my daughter has never played fantasy football. She got in
- 45:30Speaker 1: one this year. She won week one and everyone told
- 45:32Speaker 1: her her team was terrible, but she won week one
- 45:35Speaker 1: because she has JSN and she has genti on her
- 45:37Speaker 1: team so she won week one so she's super excited
- 45:40Speaker 1: she might lose the rest of the weeks but at
- 45:42Speaker 1: least she won week one and she's like see i
- 45:44Speaker 1: told you guys i knew what i was doing even
- 45:45Speaker 1: though she had no idea who she was drafting i
- 45:49Speaker 1: don't know i'm just saying never know all these signs
- 45:51Speaker 1: point to the white socks sweeping this series i'm just
- 45:53Speaker 1: saying is that what it does okay okay.
- 45:55Speaker 2: Even though the pitching matchup's not there but hey we'll
- 45:58Speaker 2: see we'll see how it goes.
- 45:59Speaker 1: Yeah i mean sean burke tonight davis martin and then
- 46:02Speaker 1: eric fetty against Gavin Williams, Foster Griffin, and Parker Messick.
- 46:07Speaker 1: I think the pitching matchup clearly leans to the White
- 46:10Speaker 1: Sox side. Clearly. That papal hat is definitely way too
- 46:15Speaker 1: tight for you. You know what? Ozzie said, Ozzie said,
- 46:18Speaker 1: go White Sox. Look, Ozzie said, go White Sox. The Diamondbacks,
- 46:22Speaker 1: they DFA'd Lourdes Gurriel and his purple hair. Big move?
- 46:28Speaker 1: Not a big move? What do you think?
- 46:30Speaker 2: I think it's one of those things that he may
- 46:33Speaker 2: be dealing with a little bit more injury than he's
- 46:36Speaker 2: let on. I know he spent some time on the IL, but, yeah,
- 46:39Speaker 2: it's a big thing. I mean, this guy had some
- 46:41Speaker 2: huge at-bats for them last year, their playoff run, all
- 46:46Speaker 2: that stuff.
- 46:48Speaker 1: It's a big thing.
- 46:49Speaker 2: I mean, I think sometimes when you deal with injuries,
- 46:51Speaker 2: you don't always get 100% healthy right away, and Diamondbacks
- 46:56Speaker 2: can't afford to have somebody that's not doing it, and
- 46:59Speaker 2: he wasn't doing it.
- 47:02Speaker 1: True, true. They need all the help they can get
- 47:04Speaker 1: right now. And by the way, their next six games,
- 47:06Speaker 1: they have a six-game homestand. They play Miami, who's okay.
- 47:11Speaker 1: They're tough. They're tough because they're young, scrappy. They get
- 47:13Speaker 1: Alcon Sandy tonight, and then they get the Yankees. Two
- 47:19Speaker 1: and a half back. They got to make, if you're
- 47:23Speaker 1: a Diamondbacks fan, your goal for the next nine, ten games,
- 47:28Speaker 1: whatever they have left, Make those last three games against
- 47:30Speaker 1: the Padres count. You have to get to where those matter.
- 47:33Speaker 1: That's your whole goal. If you fall too far behind,
- 47:35Speaker 1: then it's like, oh, we have the last three games
- 47:37Speaker 1: against the Padres. Go Diamondbacks. If they don't matter, they
- 47:40Speaker 1: don't matter. So you have to play well. Get those
- 47:42Speaker 1: to matter and see what happens. But great games. Great
- 47:46Speaker 1: games this week. Great games tonight for many different reasons.
- 47:50Speaker 1: We talked about them when we talked about SeatGeek. Enjoy baseball.
- 47:54Speaker 1: Monday Night Football tonight is Broncos Chiefs. Pat Mahomes back,
- 47:57Speaker 1: ex-baseball player, Patrick Mahomes. Coming back off of ACL, Sean Payton,
- 48:02Speaker 1: I love you. You're one of my favorite dudes ever
- 48:03Speaker 1: to play golf with. Fun as hell. Just an awesome guy. So,
- 48:07Speaker 1: you know, be a closet Broncos fan, I guess, Kratz.
- 48:10Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 48:11Speaker 2: I mean, you're really checking off all the teams here.
- 48:13Speaker 2: If you keep choosing teams that you're.
- 48:15Speaker 1: Going to be a fan of. Well, I just pick
- 48:18Speaker 1: people that I like. So I choose people that I know.
- 48:19Speaker 2: You didn't hear anything about the Seahawks.
- 48:22Speaker 1: They already won. They beat the Patriots there. They're 1-0
- 48:26Speaker 1: with their backup QB, by the way. Sorry, Jeremy, for listening.
- 48:29Speaker 1: And by the way, Jets and Giants want to know
- 48:31Speaker 1: for the first time in like 17 years. So everybody
- 48:35Speaker 1: enjoy baseball. We'll see you tomorrow. Hopefully Scott is back
- 48:39Speaker 1: off vacation. BetMGM Parlay Boost Token. Whether you predicted a
