- 1:49Speaker 3: artsy here. Yeah. The Alban Arts Center in St. Albans
- 1:55Speaker 3: is going to be playing. Actually they've already done a
- 1:56Speaker 3: couple of performances there, but they are doing the duduction
- 2:00Speaker 3: there of the Classic Little Women. We're going to have
- 2:03Speaker 3: a couple of the Thespians from that production.
- 2:07Speaker 4: I'm going to stop by the studio coming up a
- 2:08Speaker 4: little bit later on.
- 2:09Speaker 3: Also one week from today, Rob Real it's kind of
- 2:13Speaker 3: our organizer of this thing is the annual WVRC Media
- 2:16Speaker 3: Sock Drop. Will be out on the parking lot seven
- 2:19Speaker 3: am till six pm collecting donations of socks to be
- 2:22Speaker 3: given to those in need, a courtesy of Union Mission
- 2:25Speaker 3: and a big shout out to the folks that Panhandle
- 2:27Speaker 3: Cleaning and Restoration for making that possible for us. So
- 2:31Speaker 3: Rob is going to stop by the studio to talk
- 2:33Speaker 3: about that. We've already had donations, which is awesome. Now
- 2:35Speaker 3: we'll be out on the parking lot starting at seven
- 2:38Speaker 3: a m. Next Thursday morning, going till six pm that night.
- 2:43Speaker 3: All of our stations are involved. Again Rob from KWS
- 2:46Speaker 3: is kind of the guy behind this, but Mountain Beat
- 2:49Speaker 3: V one hundred, us, Kaz Charleston's ESPN Radio, We're all
- 2:53Speaker 3: involved in this big event and we're hoping that you
- 2:56Speaker 3: can help us out. We're collecting donations of new sock
- 3:00Speaker 3: to be given to those in need on these cold
- 3:03Speaker 3: and what great timing. Do you think it's cold now?
- 3:05Speaker 3: Wen on next week when this polar vortex comes in,
- 3:09Speaker 3: But we'll be out there freezing for those in need.
- 3:12Speaker 3: And we'll talk to Rob about that coming up a
- 3:14Speaker 3: little bit later on.
- 3:15Speaker 4: Now.
- 3:16Speaker 3: We got a couple of high profile trials going on
- 3:18Speaker 3: to West Virginia.
- 3:19Speaker 4: One of those in.
- 3:19Speaker 3: Beckley, the Cochran Trial Court TVs even covering that, and
- 3:22Speaker 3: also one aer Gnaw County.
- 3:24Speaker 4: It's going to be the second.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Day of the trial of the white Feather and Lance trial.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Schedule to have Jeff Jenkins to join us to talk
- 3:33Speaker 3: about that a little bit this morning, but I think
- 3:34Speaker 3: Jeff kind of got tied up with some other things again,
- 3:37Speaker 3: kind of keeping an eye on what's going on with
- 3:38Speaker 3: the trial. So at some point Jeff freeze up and
- 3:41Speaker 3: we can get him in here. We'll talk about that,
- 3:43Speaker 3: but I completely understand if he will not. If you
- 3:45Speaker 3: can't do it live, I got it again. You can
- 3:49Speaker 3: follow along. We'll have stories on the trial all day
- 3:53Speaker 3: on air and at wv Metronews dot com, WHS Network
- 3:56Speaker 3: dot com, and of course all of our social media
- 3:59Speaker 3: pages as well, so you can see we've got a
- 4:00Speaker 3: lot to get to and the short time that we
- 4:02Speaker 3: have remaining, we do have a new County Commissioner in
- 4:06Speaker 3: Putnam County. New commissioner was named just a couple of
- 4:10Speaker 3: days ago, following the resignation of Steve Dewiss. Tuesday morning,
- 4:13Speaker 3: the County commission making it official. The two sitting commissioners,
- 4:16Speaker 3: Andy Skidmore, Brian Ellis Society and on the name once
- 4:19Speaker 3: it was sent to them from the Putnam County Executive Committee.
- 4:23Speaker 3: Doug Pearson was the one that was chosen and he
- 4:26Speaker 3: joins us now here at the par Maarstore studio. Doug
- 4:29Speaker 3: Commissioner Pearson, Good morning, welcome to the show.
- 4:31Speaker 6: Good morning, glad to be here.
- 4:33Speaker 3: A kind of interesting and now you've got to be
- 4:35Speaker 3: known as Commissioner Pearson.
- 4:37Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 4:37Speaker 7: I've had a lot of different titles the past, thrown
- 4:41Speaker 7: at me the past couple of days, and obviously they're
- 4:44Speaker 7: in jest, and everybody wants to honor you with that
- 4:47Speaker 7: title of commissioner.
- 4:48Speaker 3: Now I got it, I got Well, it's a big honor.
- 4:51Speaker 3: Tell us who's Doug Pearson.
- 4:53Speaker 7: Doug Pearson's just a guy that works hard every day
- 4:56Speaker 7: and tries to do what he can for as many
- 4:58Speaker 7: people as he can a not a Putnam County native.
- 5:02Speaker 7: Born in Campbell's Creek and Charleston, grew up there for
- 5:05Speaker 7: a few years.
- 5:05Speaker 4: How was that downtown Campbell's Creek or the suburbs.
- 5:08Speaker 6: I was probably in the suburbs.
- 5:09Speaker 4: Suburbs of I. You want to make sure we clear
- 5:11Speaker 4: that up.
- 5:12Speaker 7: I could walk to Midway Elementary, but you know, I
- 5:15Speaker 7: got you go ahead. It was on the suburbs there.
- 5:18Speaker 7: Then moved to the suburbs of Clindenn and.
- 5:21Speaker 4: Oh boy, moving on up.
- 5:23Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 5:23Speaker 7: I grew up in Clindenn and went to Herbert Hoover
- 5:26Speaker 7: High School. Lived there till got married. I was actually
- 5:31Speaker 7: already working at my current job at Conall Scales and Systems,
- 5:34Speaker 7: which was in Nitro at the time, So ended up
- 5:38Speaker 7: moving to Putnam County. Found that's the only place I
- 5:42Speaker 7: could afford at the time. I found a little small
- 5:44Speaker 7: house in Buffalo and have just grown to love it there.
- 5:48Speaker 7: Uh wouldn't move for anything, just it's a great place
- 5:53Speaker 7: to live, work and play.
- 5:54Speaker 4: What is it about that area?
- 5:56Speaker 3: We'll say all of Putnam County, but then we'll even
- 5:58Speaker 3: kind of shrink it down to where you are in
- 6:00Speaker 3: that area of the canty.
- 6:01Speaker 4: What is it that you like about it so much, just.
- 6:03Speaker 7: The friendliness of the people. It's hard to find someone
- 6:06Speaker 7: that doesn't want to just stop and talk to you
- 6:09Speaker 7: for a few minutes. A little town of Buffalo that
- 6:12Speaker 7: I live in, everybody knows everybody. Seems like you can
- 6:16Speaker 7: just walk down the street and pick up a conversation
- 6:19Speaker 7: with anybody. Maybe a little easier for me because all
- 6:25Speaker 7: the activities that I do at the high schools that
- 6:28Speaker 7: people tend to know me more than I might know them.
- 6:31Speaker 4: What do you do at the high school?
- 6:33Speaker 7: Started announcing football at Buffalo in nineteen ninety two, and
- 6:37Speaker 7: now I announced all the football games at the Buffalo,
- 6:40Speaker 7: announced all the basketball games other sports. As I can,
- 6:44Speaker 7: I will usually go in, like for senior nights, to
- 6:46Speaker 7: do their announcements for their senior nights and things like that.
- 6:49Speaker 7: So you're the voice of Buffalo High School. That's what
- 6:52Speaker 7: I've been called. So as much as the can at Buffalo.
- 6:56Speaker 7: During the spring, I am tied up at Lately Field.
- 6:59Speaker 7: I do all the track meets at late. Yeah you
- 7:02Speaker 7: want a job here, well let's talk about that late
- 7:06Speaker 7: You can.
- 7:06Speaker 4: Have this one if you want time Sundays.
- 7:08Speaker 7: Now, you guys are I'm good at saying who carried
- 7:11Speaker 7: the ball and what it's third down to ten? Yeah,
- 7:15Speaker 7: I'm not good at keeping up with sixty minutes of
- 7:17Speaker 7: conversation like you can.
- 7:18Speaker 4: I got you, I got you. So what made you
- 7:21Speaker 4: decide to do this?
- 7:22Speaker 3: I mean, there was an opening on the Putnam County
- 7:24Speaker 3: Commission the resignation of Steve Dewis.
- 7:26Speaker 4: That's stories well documented.
- 7:28Speaker 3: So it was a process several I mean, I think
- 7:31Speaker 3: the final total was well over twenty two, twenty three
- 7:34Speaker 3: maybe something, maybe more. The people that wanted this, the
- 7:38Speaker 3: commissioners couldn't decide and went back to the Putnam County
- 7:41Speaker 3: Republican Executive Committee.
- 7:42Speaker 4: They debated back and forth and who to.
- 7:45Speaker 3: Get and then mister Ellison mister Skidmore were able to
- 7:49Speaker 3: agree on you. But what made you decided to want
- 7:52Speaker 3: to do this?
- 7:52Speaker 4: To begin with?
- 7:53Speaker 7: I have been on town Council in Buffalo for the
- 7:57Speaker 7: past six years. We just had we just obviously in
- 8:01Speaker 7: the election, I was reelected. It would have been the
- 8:03Speaker 7: seventh and eight years, but I can't hold two positions,
- 8:06Speaker 7: so unfortunately I had to resign that position yesterday. I'd
- 8:11Speaker 7: always been involved in just a lot of community activities,
- 8:15Speaker 7: I don't sit well. I don't stand around well. I
- 8:18Speaker 7: like to get involved and do things. From like when
- 8:24Speaker 7: my kids were in elementary school, I was the president
- 8:26Speaker 7: of the PTO. This seems like everything that they moved
- 8:30Speaker 7: up as the kids got older, I tended to get
- 8:32Speaker 7: a little more involved in some of those activities in
- 8:34Speaker 7: the community, just like working with others and seeing things
- 8:38Speaker 7: get better for our kids, better for our community. Of course, again,
- 8:43Speaker 7: a lot of my time is spent around high school sports,
- 8:46Speaker 7: so working with the youth, working with those athletes, just
- 8:49Speaker 7: to get to see the smile on their face when
- 8:53Speaker 7: they accomplished something, and then that just kind of transpired
- 8:58Speaker 7: into all the rest of the community things that I've
- 9:00Speaker 7: been involved in. I've been on parks and recreation in
- 9:03Speaker 7: Putnam County for probably twenty twenty five years. I don't
- 9:06Speaker 7: I'm not real good at keeping track of when I
- 9:08Speaker 7: start things, so I probably should do a better job
- 9:11Speaker 7: with that, but I don't. Uh So, been on parks
- 9:14Speaker 7: and recreation for about twenty five years. Got a little
- 9:17Speaker 7: glimpse of what goes on in the belly of the
- 9:20Speaker 7: whale of government from that standpoint. Be honest, I didn't
- 9:25Speaker 7: get a call from someone a friend and said, you know,
- 9:29Speaker 7: obviously I know Steve Dewe and you know knew the
- 9:32Speaker 7: situation there. Someone called and said, hey, I've heard your
- 9:36Speaker 7: name battered around. Why don't you consider it? So give
- 9:40Speaker 7: it a little thought. A few days and hey, throw
- 9:44Speaker 7: your name in the ahatt.
- 9:44Speaker 6: And see what happens.
- 9:46Speaker 4: And here we are.
- 9:47Speaker 6: Here we are.
- 9:48Speaker 7: When I that, when I seen that final list of
- 9:50Speaker 7: twenty one people, and there's some.
- 9:51Speaker 6: Qualified people on that list.
- 9:53Speaker 7: There was I mean, it's a who's who of who
- 9:56Speaker 7: does what in Putnam County, good qualified people. And at
- 10:00Speaker 7: that point I was like, if I get it, fine,
- 10:04Speaker 7: If I don't, there's some good people there. There are
- 10:07Speaker 7: some good people in place to do that.
- 10:10Speaker 4: But they chose you. I was shocked.
- 10:16Speaker 7: It was I guess it was more of an honor.
- 10:20Speaker 7: I was sitting there when the two commissioners were back
- 10:24Speaker 7: in their executive session and to decide, and someone was
- 10:30Speaker 7: asking me. He said, well, what are you feeling right now?
- 10:32Speaker 7: And I said, well, I'm stealing this from somebody. But
- 10:34Speaker 7: during the last campaign, one of the campaigns were talking
- 10:37Speaker 7: about how they were feeling about their returns coming in
- 10:39Speaker 7: and they said nauseously optimistic, nauxiously optimistic.
- 10:44Speaker 4: I like that.
- 10:45Speaker 7: So I was nauseously optimistic sitting there in that meeting, thinking,
- 10:50Speaker 7: you know, you gotta want the job or stay out. So, yeah,
- 10:54Speaker 7: I wanted the job, and I told them I wanted
- 10:57Speaker 7: the job. I told Commissionery Lsnisoner Skidmore that I did
- 11:01Speaker 7: want the job, but I was nauseously nauxiously optimistic.
- 11:07Speaker 3: We're talking to Doug Pearson, who's the new county Commissioner
- 11:09Speaker 3: Putnham County. But Dave Island showing five any line brought
- 11:11Speaker 3: to you in part by Snap Fitness. Snap has a
- 11:14Speaker 3: wide selection of equipment including free weights, cardio machine, weights
- 11:17Speaker 3: and more. They have five great locations Charleston, Hurricane, Winfield,
- 11:20Speaker 3: Barbersville and Milton and between. Now at the end of
- 11:22Speaker 3: the month, get free activation with a monthly contract. Visits
- 11:25Speaker 3: snap fitness dot com for complete details. All right, so,
- 11:28Speaker 3: what are some of the projects that you see yourself
- 11:31Speaker 3: working on for Putnam County. Once you get in, you
- 11:34Speaker 3: get settled in to the position, what's some things that
- 11:37Speaker 3: are kind of on your radar.
- 11:38Speaker 7: Again, And that's the thing that I've got a lot
- 11:41Speaker 7: of learning to do. I am two days into the job,
- 11:46Speaker 7: and really don't even have my feet on the ground yet,
- 11:49Speaker 7: but things that I see as big opportunities for Putnam County.
- 11:53Speaker 7: Obviously with the location next to the new Core plant,
- 11:57Speaker 7: I in my current job have do a little bit
- 12:00Speaker 7: of work there at the new Corp plant. So from
- 12:01Speaker 7: my house in Buffalo to Newcore was thirty minutes. So
- 12:05Speaker 7: that is a good situation for some people that are
- 12:09Speaker 7: going to be working at the Newcore plant. If we
- 12:11Speaker 7: could get some additional housing in that Fraser's Bottom Buffalo area,
- 12:15Speaker 7: then those people are going to be thirty minutes away
- 12:17Speaker 7: from the plant.
- 12:18Speaker 3: And we're seeing I had last week, I had moregantentee
- 12:20Speaker 3: on from the Putnam County Development Authority, and we've seen
- 12:22Speaker 3: this grant money that's gonna be coming in for infrastructure
- 12:25Speaker 3: because there is and I've talked about the listeners know,
- 12:28Speaker 3: I've talked about it on the show, Commissioner, there is
- 12:30Speaker 3: a lot of there is a lack of housing, not
- 12:33Speaker 3: just in Putnham County, but in the entire Advantage Valley
- 12:36Speaker 3: area from Kanah and putting Cable in there as well.
- 12:39Speaker 3: We got to get some houses, man right, for these people,
- 12:41Speaker 3: especially in Putnam, for these people that are coming.
- 12:43Speaker 7: In exactly, and talking to a couple of builders last
- 12:47Speaker 7: night kind of cornered me at the basketball game, and
- 12:49Speaker 7: it's like, Okay, now that you're a commissioner, you fix this.
- 12:52Speaker 4: You fix here it comes, Yeah, you fix this.
- 12:54Speaker 7: And I enjoyed talking to them, you know, and it's
- 12:57Speaker 7: things that I did not understand yet but I will
- 13:00Speaker 7: again too. That's you know, if you tell me something
- 13:02Speaker 7: that it's a concern, I may not be able to
- 13:04Speaker 7: fix it, but I Am going to check into it
- 13:06Speaker 7: and see what can be done.
- 13:08Speaker 6: Uh. But if there are hurdles for these builders, we need.
- 13:12Speaker 7: To remove those or make them as easy as possible
- 13:14Speaker 7: for so that we can get that housing in Putnam
- 13:17Speaker 7: County because it is going to be a boom.
- 13:20Speaker 4: Oh, it's already started. I mean, I mean right you
- 13:23Speaker 4: know there.
- 13:23Speaker 3: I mean, we we're seeing townhouses go up a couple
- 13:26Speaker 3: of different complexes in Winfield right down from where I
- 13:29Speaker 3: live in Tay's Valley, the property near Wendy's. Uh, there
- 13:33Speaker 3: is is going up. I mean, and we need but
- 13:35Speaker 3: we need more. Has been pointed out.
- 13:37Speaker 6: You know.
- 13:38Speaker 3: The town homes and the condos and everything are great,
- 13:40Speaker 3: but we also need some some some family units as well,
- 13:44Speaker 3: some more and not saying that families couldn't live in those,
- 13:47Speaker 3: but we need some some actual houses built in Putnam
- 13:50Speaker 3: County as well, exactly.
- 13:52Speaker 6: Uh.
- 13:52Speaker 7: I think we you know, we could support a lot
- 13:54Speaker 7: more and then. And that's the the great part about
- 13:57Speaker 7: Putnam County. It is a great place to live. There's
- 14:00Speaker 7: a lot of good things going on in Putnham County.
- 14:02Speaker 7: You know, a lot of people are said, well, what
- 14:05Speaker 7: can you fix? What can you fix? What can you
- 14:07Speaker 7: fix us? There's not a lot of things that need
- 14:09Speaker 7: a terrible overhaul. You know, Putnham County is doing pretty good.
- 14:13Speaker 7: Our schools are great. We have great schools and people
- 14:15Speaker 7: are attracted to those because of the quality of the
- 14:18Speaker 7: education that we provide in Putnham County. And good place
- 14:21Speaker 7: to live, a good place to live, and just looking
- 14:24Speaker 7: forward to seeing what we can do there to advance that,
- 14:27Speaker 7: to get more opportunities for people to live in Putnam County.
- 14:31Speaker 3: I'm going to give you an opportunity right now because
- 14:34Speaker 3: I know sometimes when when you get a position again
- 14:37Speaker 3: Doug Pearson is the new County Commissioner of Putnam County,
- 14:40Speaker 3: give an opportunity to thank some people if you want to.
- 14:42Speaker 7: Oh, gosh, Andy Skidmore, Brian Ellis, those two helped me more,
- 14:50Speaker 7: you know, just to being able to talk to them
- 14:52Speaker 7: the past few days. To go off topic, just a little
- 14:56Speaker 7: on that topic, but just to my current job. I
- 15:00Speaker 7: have been at Kanal Scales for forty six years, been
- 15:03Speaker 7: at that same position for forty You think it'll work out.
- 15:06Speaker 7: I might hang around the probationary period is over. Well,
- 15:11Speaker 7: I'm not sure if my boss knows I'm here today,
- 15:13Speaker 7: So okay, I might get fun.
- 15:14Speaker 4: Thankfully, no one listens to this show, so you're good.
- 15:18Speaker 7: But gentlemen, that owned can All Scales was a very
- 15:23Speaker 7: good business man. Jim Bradbury unfortunately just passed away. We've
- 15:26Speaker 7: got his memory coming up this weekend. Gentlemen, taught me
- 15:30Speaker 7: more than I'll ever know about business. And I'm missing already.
- 15:35Speaker 7: I'm missing him already. But yeah, the people in the
- 15:40Speaker 7: people of Buffalo that have always supported me and all
- 15:44Speaker 7: the things that I do through the school system there,
- 15:48Speaker 7: I just love doing that, love seeing the reaction of
- 15:53Speaker 7: the kids, Love the kids, support town of Buffalo's you know. Again,
- 15:57Speaker 7: I can't say that enough, of course, And Andy Skidmore
- 16:01Speaker 7: is a friend as well as a coworker.
- 16:04Speaker 6: Now I'm sure.
- 16:07Speaker 7: I'm missing a thousand people, all right, and I'm sorry
- 16:10Speaker 7: for missing.
- 16:10Speaker 3: We'll have you back on. I mean, you know, I
- 16:12Speaker 3: mean you're You're always welcome on this show. Hey, Doug, congratulations.
- 16:16Speaker 3: It's a big honor Putnam County Commissioner as you're taking
- 16:19Speaker 3: over that. So you'll be working with a couple of

- 20:18Speaker 3: That voice you heard is Rob Reel from our sisters
- 20:21Speaker 3: never get excited about.
- 20:22Speaker 4: You know, hey today, I'm Dave. We've get you. This said.
- 20:24Speaker 4: Oh you say, Amanda Baron, It's like, yeah.
- 20:27Speaker 3: Yeah, Rob Reel from our sister station ninety six to
- 20:32Speaker 3: one KWS this morning.
- 20:33Speaker 4: How you doing, man?
- 20:34Speaker 9: My feet are freezing for those of you playing our
- 20:38Speaker 9: home game. We have been in major renovation here at
- 20:42Speaker 9: eleven eleven Virginia Street East pretty much since I returned
- 20:45Speaker 9: almost two years ago, but really the last year, and
- 20:48Speaker 9: apparently somewhere in the midst of all this, the HVAC
- 20:52Speaker 9: did not get turned on or operate properly this morning,
- 20:56Speaker 9: and so I am bone chilled from the ankle down,
- 21:00Speaker 9: which is kind of appropriate for what we're fitting to.
- 21:02Speaker 4: Talk about yeah, exactly.
- 21:03Speaker 3: And one of the things I love about this building,
- 21:05Speaker 3: this building, like you know, it's like two hundred years old,
- 21:08Speaker 3: and it's it was a mansion, you know at one point,
- 21:11Speaker 3: and not Joe No, not Joe mansion. No, it was
- 21:14Speaker 3: a building, a mansion, and depending what room you were in,
- 21:18Speaker 3: the temperature is different. Now like up in my area,
- 21:21Speaker 3: the fund zone is what we call our office. I
- 21:23Speaker 3: now I had all this. I had an office by myself,
- 21:26Speaker 3: and now I have Bobby Spry sales weasel, I have TJ. Meadows, uh,
- 21:30Speaker 3: and I also have Leah who I'm not sure what
- 21:34Speaker 3: Lea does. She she does billings, she counts things or
- 21:37Speaker 3: something like that. Together, but it was pretty comfortable up there.
- 21:40Speaker 3: I walk downstairs. Poor poor Tracy, in the words of
- 21:43Speaker 3: my good buddy Ricky Morton, you can hang meat downstairs
- 21:46Speaker 3: right now because because poor Tracy's frozen to death up front.
- 21:50Speaker 3: So it's always something different.
- 21:51Speaker 9: I think we have diversified here at WRC Media. We
- 21:54Speaker 9: are storing meat here in this part of the building,
- 21:57Speaker 9: up in my less Nessman office because you know, I
- 22:00Speaker 9: have three walls but no door, but you have a window.
- 22:03Speaker 4: I do have.
- 22:04Speaker 9: I don't have a window I have. I'm not just
- 22:06Speaker 9: a winder. I have a fire escape. So y'all are
- 22:08Speaker 9: out of luck.
- 22:10Speaker 3: But apparently we are growing orchids where where I am,
- 22:14Speaker 3: so you never know. It's at times, good times and
- 22:16Speaker 3: great oldies. All right, Rob Real is here we are
- 22:18Speaker 3: one this time one week from today, especially being cold,
- 22:22Speaker 3: we're all gonna be well. I won't be at that
- 22:23Speaker 3: time because I'll be on the air here, but I'll
- 22:25Speaker 3: be out there throughout the day. It is our second
- 22:26Speaker 3: annual WVRC Media Sock Drop, brought to you by Panhandling,
- 22:30Speaker 3: Cleaning and Restoration seven am till six pm on our
- 22:33Speaker 3: parking lot. You don't even have to get out of
- 22:35Speaker 3: the car. We determined I think the last time we
- 22:37Speaker 3: did something like this that it's actually an oval as
- 22:39Speaker 3: well an ellipse.
- 22:41Speaker 9: If an ellipse, can can you tell somebody used to
- 22:44Speaker 9: be married to a math teacher. It's a total ellipse
- 22:47Speaker 9: of the heart, is what it is out there. So
- 22:48Speaker 9: you don't even have to turn around in our parking lot.
- 22:50Speaker 9: You just make the little loop and you're all good.
- 22:52Speaker 3: By the way it's been here lately with the ice
- 22:54Speaker 3: on the parking lot, it's kind of like you're going
- 22:55Speaker 3: to turn around whether you want to or not. But regardless, Uh,
- 22:58Speaker 3: where did you get this idea? Because this was kind
- 23:00Speaker 3: of your baby and I know you talked about it
- 23:02Speaker 3: last year, but where did this idea come from?
- 23:04Speaker 9: So of course we did our turkey drop in November,
- 23:08Speaker 9: and I talked about then growing up as a poor kid,
- 23:12Speaker 9: not just because we didn't have a lot of money.
- 23:14Speaker 9: We didn't, but my family's huge. I am second of ten.
- 23:19Speaker 9: Mom was fourth of nine, Dad was second of ten,
- 23:22Speaker 9: and when I was really young, my older brother and
- 23:27Speaker 9: a cousin and I were taken in by our paternal grandparents,
- 23:30Speaker 9: who still had five of their boys in the house.
- 23:34Speaker 9: We slept in shifts because there were eight boys sharing
- 23:37Speaker 9: a room and we shared pretty much everything, and me,
- 23:41Speaker 9: being the youngest and smallest out of that group of eight,
- 23:43Speaker 9: I got all of the hand me downs. The only
- 23:46Speaker 9: time I got new socks was for Christmas, so I'm
- 23:49Speaker 9: one of the I'm one of the rare ones who
- 23:51Speaker 9: always understood Christmas socks for Christmas was a great gift.
- 23:56Speaker 9: I think that's when you become an adult, when you
- 23:58Speaker 9: stop dreading getting socks and underwear for Christmas.
- 24:00Speaker 4: And you realize, oh, this is awesome.
- 24:02Speaker 9: Yeah, so just the you know, my cold feet right now,
- 24:06Speaker 9: I walk to and from work two blocks apart. I
- 24:09Speaker 9: have nice, warm, safe, comfortable places to live and work,
- 24:14Speaker 9: and yet if my feet are cold, my day is done,
- 24:17Speaker 9: especially if it's wet and cold, which it's it's been
- 24:19Speaker 9: for about it seems two weeks now. So now think
- 24:22Speaker 9: about the folks who don't have a place to go
- 24:25Speaker 9: in this weather, our neediest friends and neighbors. The most
- 24:29Speaker 9: requested thing at service providers, at shelters is socks. And
- 24:35Speaker 9: so it struck me that this is just this is
- 24:36Speaker 9: a very simple, tangible thing that we can do to
- 24:40Speaker 9: help folks. We're not going to change the world. If
- 24:44Speaker 9: you want to change the policies that have things the
- 24:46Speaker 9: way they are, there are people, you know, about a
- 24:49Speaker 9: mile down the boulevard at a golden domed building who
- 24:53Speaker 9: handle that and have all just been seated, and they'll
- 24:56Speaker 9: work on that sort of stuff. I'm not a political guy.
- 24:58Speaker 9: I'm just a what can we do? What little thing
- 25:02Speaker 9: can I do? Can we do to help our friends
- 25:05Speaker 9: and neighbors. It's that simple for me.
- 25:07Speaker 3: Talking to Rob Real from a Sister station, ninety six
- 25:10Speaker 3: to one k WS Dave Island showing five Any Live
- 25:13Speaker 3: is brought to you part by Morgan and Morgan with
- 25:15Speaker 3: more than twenty billion dollars recovered. They believe that when
- 25:17Speaker 3: you're injured, you deserve more. Morgan and Morgan in America's
- 25:19Speaker 3: largest injury law firm.
- 25:21Speaker 4: Big shout out.
- 25:21Speaker 3: To the folks with Panhandle Cleaning and Restoration, Because anytime
- 25:25Speaker 3: that we say we're doing so when whenever Rob Real
- 25:27Speaker 3: gets a odd idea like collecting socks is not as
- 25:30Speaker 3: bad as walking to Morgantown, buddy, uh, But the folks
- 25:33Speaker 3: of Panhandle are like, yeah, can can we get involved?
- 25:36Speaker 9: Bob and Martin have pulled my fat out of the
- 25:38Speaker 9: fire yet again. For those of you who are not
- 25:42Speaker 9: familiar with what Panhandle Cleaning and Restoration.
- 25:44Speaker 4: Does, it's it's re mediation.
- 25:47Speaker 9: It's think about all those wildfires in southern California. Somebody
- 25:50Speaker 9: has to go in and clean up and maybe make
- 25:52Speaker 9: those spaces livable again for people. That's the sort of
- 25:55Speaker 9: thing that those cats are gonna do. They are gonna
- 25:57Speaker 9: save you when you know the sump pump breaks in
- 26:00Speaker 9: your basement, floods or u you know the pipes burst
- 26:04Speaker 9: and there's all sorts of mess left over from that.
- 26:06Speaker 9: That's what Panhandle Cleaning and Restoration does. They're gonna save you,
- 26:09Speaker 9: and apparently they're gonna save me once again as we
- 26:12Speaker 9: do our second annual WVRC meet. He had dropped your
- 26:15Speaker 9: socks drive through. And every time I say drop your socks,
- 26:19Speaker 9: I know every every man and a lot of women
- 26:21Speaker 9: who have been through basic training are snickering to themselves.
- 26:25Speaker 3: I remember this story from last year. But there that
- 26:29Speaker 3: has another meaning to somebody who's served in the military.
- 26:31Speaker 9: It does if, especially in basic training, you have been
- 26:35Speaker 9: greeted with drop and socks ends.
- 26:39Speaker 4: The phrase don't get me fired.
- 26:40Speaker 9: I no, I don't even want to get me fired
- 26:43Speaker 9: from here again. Uh the I'll tell you when you're older.
- 26:48Speaker 9: The So anybody who's been through basically, and I am
- 26:52Speaker 9: told that the drill instructors, particularly male drill instructors of
- 26:57Speaker 9: women's basic training still use that even though it is
- 27:01Speaker 9: not necessarily applicable. Uh So, the folks who have served
- 27:07Speaker 9: in uniform are familiar with where drop your socks derives.
- 27:12Speaker 4: And so that's just that's a little nod to all.
- 27:14Speaker 9: Of my brothers and sisters, all of the soldier, sailors,
- 27:17Speaker 9: marines and airmen who have served our country.
- 27:19Speaker 3: And this is one of those things too, Rob, Although
- 27:21Speaker 3: you know this is kind of your baby. We're all
- 27:23Speaker 3: out there though, I mean, you know KWS is there,
- 27:25Speaker 3: but you're gonna see folks from V one hundred. Steven,
- 27:27Speaker 3: Jenny and Logan are going to be out there. I'm
- 27:29Speaker 3: going to be out there for you know, the different
- 27:30Speaker 3: stations I'm on here. Steve Animal will be there, Woody
- 27:33Speaker 3: Woods will be there, uh there, and so you're gonna
- 27:36Speaker 3: see a lot of your familiar people out there with
- 27:39Speaker 3: all these stations.
- 27:40Speaker 4: That's one of the things that we.
- 27:41Speaker 3: Do, yes here really really well, is we all come together,
- 27:45Speaker 3: you know, speaking of it, I have a phone call
- 27:48Speaker 3: for you, Rob.
- 27:48Speaker 4: Somebody wants to talk to you. All right, Ryan, if
- 27:50Speaker 4: you're ready, go ahead and put him through. Jim.
- 27:52Speaker 3: You're on with Rob real, go ahead, Thank you a.
- 27:56Speaker 10: Lot, Dave, Hello, Rob, good morning. I've known around the
- 28:01Speaker 10: valley in very many ways, some good, some bad. But
- 28:06Speaker 10: I had to put two questions, Yes, sir, the suck
- 28:09Speaker 10: coof I was wondering if also with hats tobalgans could
- 28:19Speaker 10: be put in there also because people, you know, it's
- 28:24Speaker 10: good that their hands are warm, but they need to
- 28:28Speaker 10: keep their head warm. Also.
- 28:31Speaker 9: My answer to that is we will take it because
- 28:34Speaker 9: I know Union Mission will make sure it gets into
- 28:36Speaker 9: the right place, and we are grateful to have them
- 28:38Speaker 9: on board. They're really doing the heavy lifting with the distribution,
- 28:42Speaker 9: and if folks even want to do cash or check donations,
- 28:45Speaker 9: those are warmly accepted as well.
- 28:48Speaker 4: You had a second question for me.
- 28:50Speaker 10: Yes, the two hundred year old building there where you're
- 28:55Speaker 10: ast is it handicap assessible?
- 29:00Speaker 9: Now certain parts of the building are the studios where
- 29:05Speaker 9: we are we can get you in. But the place
- 29:09Speaker 9: with all of the suits and the soft hands and
- 29:11Speaker 9: the hairdoes that's all?
- 29:14Speaker 4: But enough about me.
- 29:15Speaker 9: Yeah, that's still a whole lot harder to get into.
- 29:17Speaker 9: But I know here in the studios at least we
- 29:20Speaker 9: are mostly accessible.
- 29:23Speaker 10: Well I know I'm not for those either. The only
- 29:28Speaker 10: thing that teach me going is a good smile.
- 29:32Speaker 3: All right, Jim, As always, you give us a smile
- 29:34Speaker 3: and we appreciate you calling them my friend.
- 29:36Speaker 4: Thanks a lot.
- 29:36Speaker 3: Twenty four minutes away from ten and again, the folks
- 29:40Speaker 3: at Union Mission, I want to give a big shout
- 29:42Speaker 3: out to him as well well.
- 29:43Speaker 9: And yes, thank you for Union Mission for coming on
- 29:45Speaker 9: board to get these socks in the hands or rather
- 29:48Speaker 9: on the feet of the folks who are going to
- 29:50Speaker 9: need the most. And another thing I thought of with
- 29:52Speaker 9: regard to Jim's question is you don't have to get
- 29:55Speaker 9: out of your vehicle for this. You will be nice
- 29:58Speaker 9: and warm and safe and dry at you just make
- 30:00Speaker 9: that loop through our parking lot and we and the
- 30:02Speaker 9: folks from Union Mission will be glad to take your
- 30:05Speaker 9: donation and make sure we get going. We did almost
- 30:10Speaker 9: full four full barrels of new socks last year. I
- 30:14Speaker 9: would love to eclipse that. I'd love to get to
- 30:16Speaker 9: at least five if we could. And I know there
- 30:20Speaker 9: are lots of places around. Your lovely wife has pointed
- 30:23Speaker 9: out some of the places that have.
- 30:24Speaker 4: She just wants an excuse to shop.
- 30:26Speaker 9: Well, you know what, this is a great excuse to
- 30:29Speaker 9: do it this weekend. There are places I'm not much
- 30:32Speaker 9: for name dropping, but I will in this case. I
- 30:34Speaker 9: stopped at Marshall's the other day and was able to
- 30:36Speaker 9: find twelve packs of socks for ten bucks, less than
- 30:39Speaker 9: a dollar a pair. So I stocked up and I'm
- 30:41Speaker 9: making a donation myself, but.
- 30:44Speaker 3: I'll drop a few. Olie's was one. My wife is
- 30:48Speaker 3: the Queen of Olie. She loves Olie's, and she said,
- 30:51Speaker 3: and also one of our good advertisers here. Eight is
- 30:54Speaker 3: the outlet. Yes, somebody texted in and said they actually
- 30:57Speaker 3: had heated socks there. Yes, so we'll give big shout
- 31:00Speaker 3: out to the folks at eight is the outlet there,
- 31:01Speaker 3: and Jefferson as well.
- 31:03Speaker 9: It's it's it's amazing the way people have already started
- 31:06Speaker 9: pulling together on this so that we can get as
- 31:09Speaker 9: many socks as possible. It's a simple little thing. It's
- 31:13Speaker 9: something that many of us take for granted until you
- 31:16Speaker 9: know it's gonna be fifteen degrees for the high on
- 31:18Speaker 9: Monday and a whole bunch of this stuff's gonna refreeze,
- 31:21Speaker 9: and you know, or when the heat doesn't work in
- 31:24Speaker 9: your studio in the morning and you're we frozen to
- 31:28Speaker 9: the bull.
- 31:28Speaker 3: Just have this image of walking down a hall and
- 31:30Speaker 3: Rob has opened up all the socks and he's got
- 31:32Speaker 3: his entire body covered them and things that they're covered everything,
- 31:36Speaker 3: and I'm gonna leave it there.
- 31:36Speaker 9: But it's just like a scene from American Beauty but
- 31:39Speaker 9: instead of rose petals.
- 31:40Speaker 3: It sucks it socks it socks. All right, we'll be
- 31:42Speaker 3: talking to you between now and then again. The event
- 31:44Speaker 3: is next Thursday, seven am till six pm on our
- 31:47Speaker 3: parking lot here, eleven eleven Virginia Street East and Charleston,
- 31:50Speaker 3: brought to you by Panhandle Cleaning and Restoration. Big, big, big,
- 31:54Speaker 3: big shout out to those folks. We're making this all possible.
- 31:56Speaker 3: And when we do this next week, you don't even
- 31:58Speaker 3: have to get out of your car. You just come in.
- 32:01Speaker 3: Just do the circle, the oval, the ellipse as you
- 32:03Speaker 3: called it. Yep, we'll be happy to uh a pair,
- 32:07Speaker 3: to pack a bag, a box of socks.
- 32:10Speaker 4: We'll tell you.
- 32:10Speaker 3: Text says this would be an awesome thing for schools
- 32:13Speaker 3: to do, bring in socks every.
- 32:14Speaker 4: Day and drop them off with the studios.

- 36:36Speaker 14: Here to talk about it, we have hi I'm vetas Scarborough.
- 36:39Speaker 6: And we have Hope Griffith.
- 36:41Speaker 3: All right, well, thank you both for being here. Tell
- 36:45Speaker 3: me something a little bit about you, folks before we
- 36:47Speaker 3: get into the performance.
- 36:48Speaker 4: Tell me about you.
- 36:49Speaker 14: Yeah, absolutely so. I have been doing theater for about
- 36:54Speaker 14: the last ten years, pretty much exclusively at the Alban.
- 36:58Speaker 14: I also worked during the day at the Clay Center,
- 37:01Speaker 14: so I'm a little performative there as well. But yeah,
- 37:05Speaker 14: that's really all there is to me theater and work.
- 37:07Speaker 3: Okay, well, there's worse things than how about you.
- 37:10Speaker 15: Yeah, I have done theater since middle school. I've always
- 37:13Speaker 15: been really passionate about it. I normally do theater with
- 37:17Speaker 15: a Charleston Light Opera Guild, but I've also been doing
- 37:19Speaker 15: shows recently with the Alban and I love both. I
- 37:23Speaker 15: work for South Charleston Public Library as a youth assistant
- 37:28Speaker 15: and I'm starting a program there called Hopeful Endeavors hopefully
- 37:31Speaker 15: for young teens.
- 37:33Speaker 4: And the Alban Arts Center is a fantastic facility.
- 37:36Speaker 3: I mean it really really is. It's a great facility.
- 37:39Speaker 3: Talk about the play itself. It's one of those iconic plays.
- 37:43Speaker 3: But for people that aren't familiar with Little Women, give
- 37:45Speaker 3: me the basic premise.
- 37:46Speaker 14: Absolutely, hope, do you want to take that? And just
- 37:49Speaker 14: because I wasn't really familiar, I know that's kind of illegal,
- 37:53Speaker 14: but I had never read the book or seen anything.
- 37:56Speaker 4: What's the whole thing about?
- 37:58Speaker 15: So it is about this family of you know, a
- 38:02Speaker 15: regular family of like a mother and father and they
- 38:05Speaker 15: have Joe, Amy, Beth and Meg and there are all
- 38:11Speaker 15: of this. It's about all of the sisters and all
- 38:13Speaker 15: of their struggles and their hardships, what they go through
- 38:15Speaker 15: and getting each other through the hard moments, but also
- 38:19Speaker 15: having so much fun together. And they all have very
- 38:21Speaker 15: different personalities, and it's mainly about Joe. Joe walks walks
- 38:28Speaker 15: through life and kind of takes all of these notes
- 38:30Speaker 15: and journals and she she ends up meeting this man,
- 38:35Speaker 15: Professor Bayer, who tells her that she needs to write
- 38:37Speaker 15: about her life and what she knows and that's her family.
- 38:41Speaker 10: Right.
- 38:41Speaker 3: So where does the title little Women come from?
- 38:45Speaker 15: I believe little Women is just I mean, I'm guessing it's.
- 38:49Speaker 4: Just about a little women.
- 38:51Speaker 14: I will say where it comes from. During the play itself,
- 38:54Speaker 14: we do receive a letter from our father in the play,
- 38:58Speaker 14: who's actually a way It's set the Civil War so
- 39:01Speaker 14: he's in the in the war at the time, and
- 39:03Speaker 14: he refers to us as little Women. There you got
- 39:05Speaker 14: bet her, So I don't know if that was realistic
- 39:07Speaker 14: to Alcott's life or where she got that name, though.
- 39:10Speaker 4: There's your answer right there.
- 39:11Speaker 11: Again.
- 39:12Speaker 3: We're talking to with some cast members of Little Women's

- 39:35Speaker 3: This up, I mean previously before this weekend, right, Yes,
- 39:38Speaker 3: you've had other dates.
- 39:39Speaker 4: So how's the how's it been so far?
- 39:41Speaker 14: I've had a great time. We've had great audiences despite
- 39:45Speaker 14: the weather. I know we were all a little bit
- 39:47Speaker 14: worried about that. We lost two of our Tech Week rehearsals,
- 39:50Speaker 14: so we were definitely a little anxious, but it has
- 39:53Speaker 14: been better than expected. It's been amazing.
- 39:55Speaker 3: We should be good this time around, because I mean
- 39:57Speaker 3: it's gonna warm up and it's gonna be a little
- 39:59Speaker 3: rainy at the the folks tell me, uh, maybe on Saturday.
- 40:02Speaker 4: But I mean, after what we've had, we'll take it.
- 40:04Speaker 4: We'll take ryan. Rain is fine. As long as it's
- 40:06Speaker 4: not inside the building, We're fine.
- 40:08Speaker 3: And you'll work through that. You work through through through
- 40:10Speaker 3: that too. So I understand that we're gonna have a
- 40:13Speaker 3: little bit of a performance here.
- 40:14Speaker 4: Is that right? Somebody want to do a little little
- 40:16Speaker 4: bit of the the production.
- 40:18Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 40:18Speaker 14: I would actually.
- 40:19Speaker 4: Blame Jeff Jenkins for this.
- 40:20Speaker 3: By the way, I want to say, our our our
- 40:23Speaker 3: news director here at Metro News. Jeff Jenkins's son is
- 40:27Speaker 3: directing the play.
- 40:28Speaker 4: Is that right?
- 40:28Speaker 14: Absolutely? Stevie Jenkins.
- 40:30Speaker 4: Stevie Jenkins's great.
- 40:31Speaker 14: It's his directorial debut.
- 40:32Speaker 3: All right, all right, all right, so give me a
- 40:35Speaker 3: little performance. Somebody just do something.
- 40:36Speaker 4: Here, you got.
- 40:39Speaker 15: I'll start with a part of my monologue. I guess okay,
- 40:43Speaker 15: it's all right, Joe, It's all right. You don't have
- 40:45Speaker 15: to be brave for me. I know, don't tell Father

- 40:59Speaker 3: All right, good stuff, I would applaud, but it's only

- 45:36Speaker 3: were amendment votes on HAAVY to do with the Lincoln
- 45:40Speaker 3: Riley Act. Now I think Dave Wilson and TJ. Meadows
- 45:43Speaker 3: are going to get into that more on talk Line
- 45:45Speaker 3: coming up. A ten oh six not just in my opinion,
- 45:47Speaker 3: not a good look for the Senator. And like you,
- 45:51Speaker 3: one of the first things I thought was, well, did
- 45:52Speaker 3: Greenbrier East have a girls basketball game last night? They
- 45:56Speaker 3: did not, It's according to my research.
- 45:59Speaker 4: Now he was.
- 46:00Speaker 3: He was seen at a committee meeting earlier in the day,
- 46:02Speaker 3: so there was that. Don't know what the story was,
- 46:07Speaker 3: but he missed two votes on his second day in
- 46:11Speaker 3: the I mean you missed the first one maybe, but
- 46:13Speaker 3: I don't know about I mean or missed the second one,
- 46:15Speaker 3: but not not the first one anyway. And I was
- 46:18Speaker 3: talking with someone earlier this morning and said, maybe we
- 46:20Speaker 3: should keep a running total, maybe doing over under on
- 46:23Speaker 3: the no, maybe get Marty Gracasino involved on the number
- 46:26Speaker 3: of votes that he misses.
- 46:27Speaker 4: So that's that's where we are.
- 46:29Speaker 3: But you know not who let you can do about that.
- 46:31Speaker 3: Jeff Jenkins is here from the newsroom. Jeff, good morning.
- 46:35Speaker 3: I did want to give you an opportunity to kind
- 46:37Speaker 3: of update on what's going on with this big trial
- 46:39Speaker 3: with the Assistantville couple.
- 46:40Speaker 18: Yeah, so we've got another day of testimony. The prosecution
- 46:44Speaker 18: still presenting its case. Genie K. White Feather Donald Ray
- 46:48Speaker 18: Lance charged with about twenty counts of different things from
- 46:53Speaker 18: child neglect abuse to human trafficking some other things that
- 46:58Speaker 18: are in there. And so the prot Houston still presenting
- 47:01Speaker 18: its case and it started yesterday afternoon. They started putting
- 47:04Speaker 18: Sharf's deputies on the stand who had arrived at the
- 47:08Speaker 18: scene and started you know, investigating, found the two kids
- 47:13Speaker 18: in the shed, and then they got a search warrant
- 47:15Speaker 18: for the house. So so that's kind of what the
- 47:17Speaker 18: testimony has been. There was testimony by a deputy, one
- 47:21Speaker 18: of the first deputies to arrive there actually found the
- 47:24Speaker 18: kids in the shed, and so that was probably key
- 47:29Speaker 18: testimony there yesterday. So they're going through you know, you
- 47:32Speaker 18: get this in trials, you know, you got to get
- 47:33Speaker 18: through details, kind of lay the groundwork, and that's kind
- 47:36Speaker 18: of what the prosecution is doing now. So their first
- 47:39Speaker 18: witnesses again were a handful of neighbors and what neighbors
- 47:43Speaker 18: had observed about what they thought the treatment of the kids,
- 47:46Speaker 18: what they observed of how the kids were treated. And
- 47:49Speaker 18: now they've got the police, you know, they're talking about it,
- 47:54Speaker 18: and at some point I would think they're going to
- 47:55Speaker 18: put some of the kids on maybe and so we'll
- 48:00Speaker 18: be able to report on that, but not be able
- 48:03Speaker 18: and totally understandable. Yeah, you know, to record or photos
- 48:07Speaker 18: or anything like that, but that's you know, wouldn't do
- 48:09Speaker 18: that anyway, but that's not going to be allowed.
- 48:10Speaker 4: But we can.
- 48:11Speaker 18: We will be able to report on what the kids say.
- 48:13Speaker 18: So that will be a key because I think the well,
- 48:16Speaker 18: what the one of the things the defense is saying
- 48:18Speaker 18: is these kids are they're saying in a nice way,
- 48:21Speaker 18: they're misremembering, they're not remembering totally what happened. And so
- 48:27Speaker 18: it'll be that, you know, how how effective are the
- 48:31Speaker 18: children who testify, if there are any that testify. Of course,
- 48:35Speaker 18: that's going to be a decision that will be made
- 48:36Speaker 18: by the prosecution in this So we'll continue to watch it.
- 48:41Speaker 18: It could go for two weeks sometimes these things, if
- 48:45Speaker 18: you predicted that long, sometimes they go through the everdge
- 48:47Speaker 18: a little quicker, so it may not last that long,
- 48:49Speaker 18: but we'll see prosecution is still presenting their case. The
- 48:52Speaker 18: defenders they deny the charges. They say that they were
- 48:54Speaker 18: helping these kids, they adopted them, they were helping them,
- 48:58Speaker 18: but they had a lot of issues of baggage the
- 49:00Speaker 18: kids did, you know, a lot of past abuse and
- 49:02Speaker 18: different things, and and and they were struggling to know
- 49:05Speaker 18: how to help them. And so I think that's going
- 49:08Speaker 18: to that will be part of the defense. There's a
- 49:10Speaker 18: lot in there that they were in several states they
- 49:12Speaker 18: were paid money for you know, uh, you know, adopting
- 49:16Speaker 18: the keeping the kids. They were getting paid money by
- 49:18Speaker 18: this other states that they were in. So there's you know,
- 49:22Speaker 18: was their financial incentive to have this many kids? Did
- 49:25Speaker 18: they you know, these were siblings, did they did they
- 49:28Speaker 18: were they interested in one of you know, maybe one
- 49:30Speaker 18: kid over the other, but they got the other kids
- 49:32Speaker 18: with them, you know, so well, I mean there's a
- 49:34Speaker 18: lot of that going on, a lot of nuancing in
- 49:36Speaker 18: the trial. So but we're covering at Kat's skeleton's down
- 49:39Speaker 18: there this morning. We'll have Morgan Pemberton down there in
- 49:41Speaker 18: the afternoon. So we're covering it, uh uh morning and
- 49:44Speaker 18: afternoon sessions.
- 49:45Speaker 4: All right, Jeff, appreciate it, man. Thanks so Jeff Jenkins
- 49:48Speaker 4: from the newsroom.
- 49:48Speaker 3: It is nine fifty seven, and again we will have
- 49:51Speaker 3: coverage on the on the news sites, and on the
- 49:54Speaker 3: social media as well, and of course on air. Dave

- 50:11Speaker 3: Jimbo starting off the Senate career as expected absent, says
- 50:15Speaker 3: a Texter Texas Dave tired of religious exemptions. Every day
- 50:19Speaker 3: something new comes up. That's having to do a reference
- 50:23Speaker 3: to the vaccine situation that now Governor Morrissey mentioned in
- 50:28Speaker 3: his first press conference on Tuesday, and speaking of press conferences,
- 50:31Speaker 3: he does have a press conference scheduled for two o'clock
- 50:34Speaker 3: this afternoon. Now, this one is expected to focus on
- 50:37Speaker 3: the budget. From what I understand, and again I said
- 50:41Speaker 3: this folks on the show yesterday. You can like Patrick
- 50:45Speaker 3: Morrissey as governor, you cannot like him whatever. He is
- 50:48Speaker 3: kind of a polarizing figure. But I will say this,
- 50:52Speaker 3: I will give Governor Morrissey credit because and it may
- 50:58Speaker 3: not stay this way, but Patrick Morrissey, and I don't
- 51:01Speaker 3: mean this in a derogatory term because certain radio people
- 51:06Speaker 3: are the same way, including myself, never met a microphone
- 51:10Speaker 3: he didn't like.
- 51:10Speaker 4: So and I don't mean that in a bad way.
- 51:12Speaker 4: I think that's a good.
- 51:12Speaker 3: Thing for a politician. So I will give Governor Morrisey
- 51:16Speaker 3: credit for having in two days, well three days, I guess,
- 51:21Speaker 3: two press conferences. And on yesterday he was doing TV,
- 51:25Speaker 3: he was doing radio. He was on a talk line
- 51:27Speaker 3: with Meadows and Wilson yesterday. I saw last night on
- 51:29Speaker 3: the TV news he did set down interviews with everybody.
- 51:32Speaker 3: So I give him credit for that. Now again, that
- 51:34Speaker 3: press conference is at two o'clock today.
- 51:36Speaker 4: TJ. Meadows is here. How are you, sir? Doing well?
- 51:39Speaker 6: How are you?
- 51:40Speaker 3: It look like you're a little harry this morning man
- 51:42Speaker 3: running around like crazy?
- 51:43Speaker 2: Here?
- 51:44Speaker 4: What's up?
- 51:44Speaker 9: A lot's going on today? Yeah, I mean there's a
- 51:47Speaker 9: lot happening. So I'm trying to get everything squared and
- 51:49Speaker 9: ready to go.
- 51:50Speaker 4: What have we got on talk line today?
- 51:52Speaker 9: So coming up on talk Line today, Delegate Joey Garcia
- 51:55Speaker 9: will kick the show off. Or actually I actually s
- 51:57Speaker 9: a Senator Joey Garcia.
- 51:59Speaker 4: My fault.
- 52:00Speaker 9: He wants to respond to what the governor said yesterday.
- 52:02Speaker 9: No surprise, he has a different view I think on
- 52:04Speaker 9: religious exemptions from vaccines.
- 52:06Speaker 4: We'll get into that. We'll talk to Ei with him.
- 52:08Speaker 4: The Dean is back. Doctor Kershievill joins us at eleven
- 52:11Speaker 4: o six. Ippy Kirch back with the commentary.
- 52:14Speaker 10: Back with the.
- 52:14Speaker 9: Commentary today, and you know he's pretty critical of the
- 52:18Speaker 9: governor this morning in his commentary, so he will join
- 52:21Speaker 9: to talk about that. Plus we'll get into the two
- 52:25Speaker 9: big trials going on in the state right now. That's
- 52:27Speaker 9: Cisville couple on trial here in Charleston, as well as
- 52:29Speaker 9: the lady from Raleigh County on Toronto for murdering her husband,
- 52:32Speaker 9: Jeff Jenkins.
- 52:32Speaker 4: Will get into that. Lots to do today, all right.
- 52:34Speaker 3: We gotta go. My producer was Ryan Nicholson. Ryan, I
