- 0:46every single day. Okay.
- 0:48So school. Oh my goodness.
- 0:49School was such a difficult one for me.
- 0:51So I've been through school and in college and in university and
- 0:55so because of that I was able to create what I think are
- 0:58essential items, checklists for that.
- 1:00If you want to have successful time at school or in an
- 1:03educational system, this is for you.
- 1:04So buckle up guys, we'll go through the list right now.
- 1:07Just before that I want to say a big thanks to Brillia, which is
- 1:10this week's sponsor for this video.
- 1:12Brillia, A homeopathic non prescription based medication
- 1:15which is completely cool because it's way more natural than some
- 1:18of the other stuff I've taken and it's non addictive.
- 1:21There's no nasties in it. It's cool for helping increase
- 1:24increase clarity, improve concentration and reduce
- 1:26anxiety, restlessness, stress and irritability and
- 1:30impulsivity. Which is you know for me for
- 1:32godsend. So if you want to check out
- 1:33Brilliant yourself, I have a discount code for 15% off if you
- 1:37use the code as B-15. Link is in the description down
- 1:40below. But FYI guys if you are thinking
- 1:43about trying it, just always consult with your doctor first
- 1:45before trying anything, even if it is more natural.
- 1:47OK, so the first thing I want to say is that you have to have a
- 1:50tablet. Now I'm not worried about tablet
- 1:52as in like you know something a pill or something.
- 1:54I don't know about tablet, as in an iPad or a Samsung tablet or
- 1:58an Android tablet. What I found most interesting is
- 2:00that when I'm attending lectures or when I'm attending anything
- 2:03in school, if I had my iPad with me, I could actually turn on the
- 2:06record button to record the audio of the actual class.
- 2:09So I could go back home and listen over something I may not
- 2:11have got perfectly right while sitting in the class.
- 2:14Because there's this thing called Alexa Thymia, which
- 2:16causes for a lot of delay in understanding what's actually
- 2:18going on in that moment in time. But to cut a Long story short,
- 2:21using the recording was so easy to kind of just listen back to
- 2:24when I'm going over my revision notes.
- 2:26Something else, what I found a super about having the tablet
- 2:28with me is that there was something important on the white
- 2:31board or a slideshow that I could take my camera app and
- 2:34just take a picture or a snapshot of that and I have that
- 2:36then saved to my notes. Not to mention you can always
- 2:40use talk to type apps on stuff like the I know that Apple do it
- 2:44where you talk to it and it will automatically type out what
- 2:47you're saying in your notes, which is really good for people
- 2:48who have an issue with typing or writing really fast.
- 2:51I found this super beneficial. So that is like literally #1.
- 2:55The second thing I'd say is having a sensory toolbox with
- 2:57you. Now I don't mean having anything
- 2:59crazy, but a few fidget gadgets or maybe even just like a pair
- 3:02of noise cancelling headphones and sunglasses.
- 3:05Something that is going to help you overcome sensory stimulated
- 3:09issues of potential issues in a setting of educational
- 3:13environment. It could be the lighter to
- 3:14bright. It could be that there's too
- 3:15much noise going on or maybe each one of like self soothe
- 3:18with like a stem toy. Having something like that is
- 3:21super beneficial and I highly recommend it.
- 3:23OK, so #3 is a buddy system. Now this is really interesting.
- 3:27You don't have to be best friends with a person, but you
- 3:29need to make a buddy or have the school or the educational body
- 3:32team you up with somebody who knows the ropes or who can look
- 3:35after you. If you have any issues that on
- 3:37the day-to-day that it's in your class and you're spending pretty
- 3:40much every day with you. I found this super beneficial
- 3:42mind. A buddy called Tom who I used to
- 3:44travel in with. And if I had any issues with
- 3:46stuff like that, Tom would help me, You know, we'd put our heads
- 3:48together and sort it out. This was amazing and helped me
- 3:50feel less alone. Also, it was really good because
- 3:52I did build a friendship with Tom.
- 3:54Not all the time that this is going to happen, that you have a
- 3:56friendship with a person, but that person is your go to
- 3:59contact within the class that's on your day-to-day because you
- 4:02could be on lunch and have an issue and you want to talk to
- 4:04somebody and it's good to have a buddy.
- 4:06Case number four is a personal learner's plan.
- 4:08Now this is something that needs to be implemented from the top
- 4:12of the hierarchy in the school where you, when you attend the
- 4:15school, you sit down and speak them and say, hey, I have issues
- 4:17in these areas of Nelson spectrum and I need help with XY
- 4:21and Z And then make a learning plan that is distributed to all
- 4:24of the people who would be taking you for that year or for
- 4:28that semester so that they know that you need certain help in
- 4:31certain areas. And so they're not kind of
- 4:33coming to you with a oh, I didn't know you needed help here
- 4:35kind of question. And I've been there in both
- 4:37situations where they've been, oh, I didn't know you had
- 4:40issues. And another time where they say,
- 4:41hey, it's cool, we've led you, we've read your personal
- 4:44environment, it's all good. So that is a must speak with the
- 4:48person who's in indoctrinating you into the school when you
- 4:51first sign up. And the last thing here is a
- 4:53student point of contact or counsellor.
- 4:55Now I had a student mentor when I attended university and this
- 4:58was amazing with stuff at godsend.
- 5:00I was able to speak to them or anything on a weekly basis.
- 5:03I could make a point was to see them at any time during the week
- 5:06and I have regular e-mail contact with them so I had any
- 5:08issues or discussions that needs to be happening on more of a
- 5:11professional or official official level at the school or
- 5:14the university. I was able to come and speak to
- 5:16them and they would take that higher or they would be the
- 5:18person of the contact to go and take that forward.
- 5:20Very interesting and it actually made my life at university a lot
- 5:23easier and more manageable. I don't think I could have been
- 5:25able to do my degree in chemistry.
- 5:27I haven't already had that contact.
