think about and I tell you, gratitude comes to my mind. Thanksgiving reminds

me of a season of gratitude. Not only is it a season of gratitude,

it is a season where those that are incarcerated, those that are behind

prison while sometimes feel alone. Let me see if I can get some light

going, maybe y'all can see me better, a little better. Hey,

But this is a season where some people are dealing with a lot of

different issues. A lot of people dealing with depression, a lot of people

dealing with just the things that come along with the holiday season. Some may

have lost loved ones and or remembered reminded during this holiday season of those loved
3:58
ones. I tell you I I've lost a lot of people on this journey

in life. I lost my mom twelve days after my sixteenth birthday. I
4:09
lost my brother two years ago in October No four years ago in October.

I lost my cousin two years ago in October. So I'll tell you I've
4:25
had my share of loss, have had my share of grief, have had
4:29
my share of mental health issues. So I truly understand. And during this
4:36
season, especially those that have lost loved ones, those that are incarcerated,
4:43
are those that may be just separated from their loved ones. We go through
4:50
some some feeling of loneliness, some feeling of abandonment. We have all these
4:56
different emotions. But I just want you to know doing this how of the
5:00
season, that you are loved, that you are not alone, that someone
5:05
is thinking of you, and I want you to be encouraged. You can
5:10
see these words behind me. It is on a flyer. God dropped in

my spirit to do a quick read for some females that's incarcerated, because a
5:25
lot during this time, those that are caring for those family members of individuals
5:31
that's incarcerated. You know, sometimes we forget about the one that's incarcerated because

we're so busy out here trying to take care of their of their babies and
5:40
take care of you know, their seeds, that we tend to forget about
5:45
them. But y'all. We want to remember that they are they are people
5:48
too, that they need to be loved onto. So I'm excited about this
5:55
next book that I'm getting ready to drop, trying to get it dropped before

Christmas, trying to get in the hands of these inmate, these female inmates,

these female prisoners, so that they know that their love, that somebody
6:11
is thinking of them, that they are thought about. I have eight women
6:15
that is incarcerated currently at TDCJ, that is a Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

And some of these young ladies have been incarcerated since they were teens,

and you know, life happens. Some of them have lost family members.

Some of them have lost their parents, so it's like they may not have
6:35
anyone on the outside. We may be the only words of encouragement. We
6:41
may be the only thing that uplifts them during this holiday season. So I
6:46
put out a plea. I was looking for thirty to fifty women to be
6:51
a part of this and just sharing poetry, words of encouragement, affirations,
6:58
whatever God laid on your spirit to share with these women, to encourage them,

to inspire them, to uplift them on this holiday season so that they
7:09
didn't feel like they were alone on this journey because oftentimes, y'all, when

those when those cell doors closed, family members often forget about those that are

incarcerated. God dropped it in my spirit, so I had to move on

it. Shot out to those nine amazing queens that have stood with me and

said I will share inside of this anthology, So shout out to them.

It just seemed like anything that concerns us brown people always get brushed under the

rug. But I'm thankful that God has allowed me to have a platform in

a voice, to be able to speak and not to just watch things happen

and do nothing about it. And it's old saying saying, if you see

something, do something, So when you come into the knowledge of you are

accountable for. So I can't continue to see it and watch things happen on

my watch and do nothing about it. So y'all, I'm speaking up and

speaking now. We're gonna be marching. We're gonna be meeting at the d

n ND Kitchen, which is at on e Commerce Drive, and we're gonna

walk those two want two miles to the city Hall. We're gonna be chatting

and singing on our way there as we head to the city Hall. And

then we're gonna rally out there. We're gonna have those that have individuals incarcerated.

They're gonna be sharing their story, They're gonna be talking about the current

situations and different things. And then we're gonna have keynote speaker that's gonna be

speaking on those topics that we are concerned about and those things that need to

be brought to the tension of the elected officials in the state of Texas.
