- 2:39Let's have a sixer. Hey, who wants to play Drink the
- 2:42Beer? It's time for the Speedy 6 pack
- 2:45of the way. Doo Doo, my pinky is bigger than
- 2:50yours. I would I would imagine it is
- 2:52nothing, right? I've never ever wanted to
- 2:54measure pinkies, but. Danny, why don't you say hello
- 2:56to Danny? We haven't seen Danny on the
- 2:58Scope for a long time. You guys don't know Nick.
- 3:00Nick. Goody, Danny, if you don't know
- 3:02Nick. Nick.
- 3:03For. The Yankees played for the the
- 3:05guardians six year career in the major leagues and you know who
- 3:08Jabba is? Jabba Chamberlain, everybody.
- 3:10This is Dan Rosiki. He's been writing for me since I
- 3:13started 1213 years ago. He's been a fan of the show.
- 3:16He's, you know, he's a fan of some of the teams that I root
- 3:19for and he just loves to drop the hammer.
- 3:22He worked for Sports Illustrated before he was let go by Sports
- 3:25Illustrated for some of his takes on the Islanders.
- 3:28And Charles Wong. I love him.
- 3:31He actually introduced me to Fish and that's why Fish is with
- 3:35us right now is is Dan Rosiki. You told me that Fish is a guy
- 3:39that is up and coming, thinks that he's a good personality and
- 3:42he would help me out on the back end of the show.
- 3:44And here he is. Danny Rosicki.
- 3:45We have 3, three stats from each of the New York baseball teams.
- 3:50I'm going to do them. The Yankees one first and you're
- 3:52a Mets fan. We're going to get a lot of
- 3:54stuff with the New York Mets later.
- 3:55Obviously a big weekend for one of their best players in their
- 3:58franchise history. But I'm going to start with the
- 3:59Yankees. I'll start with Marcus Stroman,
- 4:01a guy that you guys have been criticism criticizing of in the
- 4:04past, but had a very good start against the Braves goodie and
- 4:07and Java specifically with you guys because this was one that I
- 4:10found interesting. 11 splitters versus the Braves, all with the
- 4:14all against lefties and got a lot of swing and misses and only
- 4:16use 14% of the sinkers, which is usually usually does a lot.
- 4:20A lot more sinkers in his starts and had a lot more success doing
- 4:23it that way. Is that an approach thing that
- 4:25Stroman's got to change because they might need him to start
- 4:27more often? Well, yeah, it couldn't get any
- 4:30worse, so you got to make an adjustment.
- 4:34And I mean, he throws so many patients, it's hard to figure
- 4:39out which one's best and what's working.
- 4:41So yeah, I think if you're seeing obviously balls going
- 4:45down and running, getting swings and misses, and I think it's but
- 4:49a game plan, but also a field type of thing.
- 4:52And sometimes we either have it or don't and sometimes you try
- 4:56to do too much. So I think if you see everything
- 4:59going arm side and and have multiple weapons to be able to
- 5:03do that, I think it's more so a game plan other than field
- 5:07because obviously he hasn't been very good since he came back.
- 5:10Yeah, I agree with that. If you throw the pitch, that
- 5:12works that night. So if it's a splitter that's
- 5:14working and that's what you're throwing, and you said it was
- 5:18done and you said he threw it to the lefties, Yeah.
- 5:20Yeah. So he threw it the splitter, he
- 5:22threw it 11 times against lefties in that game and it
- 5:26would he got a lot more success rate of it.
- 5:28He said the previous analytics were saying like he split it up
- 5:31a lot of the time that's when he was struggling.
- 5:33So it was more predictable and then you 14 sinkers, 14 only 14%
- 5:36sinkers which he normally does around 30%.
- 5:40Yeah. So I mean they have a book out
- 5:41on them, right. So if he's doing more, if he's
- 5:45so the hitters for you know, the hitters know exactly what's
- 5:48going to come and what counts or they have an idea percentage
- 5:50wise of what's going to come and what counts.
- 5:52And so I'm sure Stroman's a guy who probably likes to flip the
- 5:56book around and and instead of being heavy on the sinker, he's
- 6:00mixing it up, mixing his pitches and us splitter traditionally
- 6:04will go down and away toward to a lefty.
- 6:07Some guys can can manipulate it to go to both sides of the plate
- 6:10and essentially it's probably just like a little bit of a
- 6:13harder change up. So if he's having success with
- 6:15it, then that's what you throw. Medium, I'm looking at your
- 6:18graphic there and I'm, I'm so horrified by this.
- 6:20It's, it's fantastic and awful at the same time.
- 6:23I just, I've been staring at it. It's it's mesmerizing.
- 6:26It's hypnotic on some level. Why?
- 6:29Because I was bored and it's summer, you know, you go to the
- 6:34beach speedy, you know, likes to go get a tan.
- 6:38No, he doesn't. I don't think I've ever seen.
- 6:40Speedy go to the beach. I don't think Speedy's ever gone
- 6:44to the beach, not around me in in 10 years, I've never heard,
- 6:47hey, let's go to the beach. Errol.
- 6:49The only time he goes to the beach is when we we celebrate
- 6:52his birthday and he's throwing up all over the place.
- 6:54That's about it. That's the only time I I've seen
- 6:57Speedy actually enjoy the beach with me.
- 6:58Yeah, so I've only gotten probably tan twice in my life.
- 7:03Dan, as you know, most of my good ideas happen either half in
- 7:07the bag or just because I was bored.
- 7:10So say half in the bag, I got you covered.
- 7:13You have to tell me I already. Know well speedies.
- 7:16You know Speedy doesn't know how to work the bag.
- 7:17So if he has the bean bag and it works in two nuts, 2 nuts is
- 7:22better than one, right Speedy? I am not going to judge anything
- 7:24on nuts this is. A by the way.
- 7:26This is a six pack. They come in a lot more than
- 7:28nuts come in a lot more. Than by the way, I can't stand
- 7:30Marcus Stroman and the fact that Marcus Stroman is somebody we're
- 7:34talking about makes me sick to my stomach.
- 7:36Marcus Stroman, Patrick Medford native, Long Island native I
- 7:40know his family his brother is going to be a sensational draft
- 7:42pick and a sensational player playing for Patchogue switch
- 7:45hitter. He he's at least a nice guy.
- 7:49His brother Marcus every time I've been around him, I was at a
- 7:52draft party at doubling doubling deck.
- 7:55I'll never forget it. His father is such a nice dude
- 7:59and and he just doesn't know how to respect people.
- 8:00Everywhere he's gone, he's been an ass.
- 8:03A lot of people that have been around Marcus Stroman probably
- 8:06would tell you that he's not an easy person and be around.
- 8:09So I why are we bringing up Marcus Stroman and what his
- 8:12numbers are? He's not even an important
- 8:14factor to the New York Yankees moving forward in the
- 8:16second-half, so. That's just my #5 all right.
- 8:20So we'll go on to so they had a comeback on Friday, 5 run
- 8:23comeback. It was the Yankees 1st 9th
- 8:25inning comeback this season and only their 18th comeback win of
- 8:29the season, which is actually tied for sixth lowest in
- 8:31baseball with your team go to the Guardians only of 18 as
- 8:34well. Are you concerned about that or
- 8:35is it is it fluky? What is your thoughts on all
- 8:38that? 9th inning comebacks, I don't
- 8:40really know. I mean, it's baseball.
- 8:41Like, yeah, I don't know how to explain.
- 8:43I don't know how to explain this one.
- 8:44Maybe the pitcher had a rough night 8 times in a row, nine
- 8:47times in a row. Like you're supposed to win the
- 8:49games that you're that you're leading in in the 9th inning.
- 8:52So to be honest with you, I haven't watched New York Yankees
- 8:56baseball. I've been been watching my
- 8:58summer League Baseball most of the time.
- 9:01So I didn't catch that one. But you're up when you're up 8
- 9:04ninth inning, 789 inning. Like those are your lockdown
- 9:07relievers of the game you're supposed to win.
- 9:08And if the Yankees especially. Especially up five.
- 9:12Yeah, if the Yankees come back and and and win, like that's
- 9:15huge and that that you have momentum going into the next
- 9:18game. Yankees baseball over the last
- 9:20past month and 1/2 has been absolutely putrid.
- 9:22It it really hasn't been good. And anybody that thinks and John
- 9:26Carlos Stanton is is been pretty good.
- 9:28He's the only one hitting him and Aaron Judge, thank God he's
- 9:31back. So it adds a little bit more
- 9:33boom to that lineup. This is a lineup that a lot of
- 9:36people thought, hey, adding Goldschmidt, he was playing well
- 9:39in the beginning of the the first half.
- 9:41He's kind of falling part falling, falling off and
- 9:44Bellinger, he's up and he's down.
- 9:45He goes on a 13 game hitting streak and then he can't hit a
- 9:48lick for like 10 games. The problem with the Yankees is
- 9:51consistency. If they who want to win, they
- 9:53just lost against the Blue Jays tonight 4:00 to 1:00.
- 9:55If they want to to win the division and they want to go on
- 9:58and and try to make another World Series, they got to play.
- 10:01They got to be better at the plate.
- 10:03Pitching is going to come. I think they're going to add
- 10:05another pitcher and another arm at the trade deadline.
- 10:08They need to add 2 bats at least if they expect to to make
- 10:12another run to the World Series. I I this lineup is not good
- 10:15enough. They're looking at Mitch Keller
- 10:17right now from the Pirates. I don't know if you if you saw
- 10:20that, but Mitch Keller's like hot.
- 10:22He's had like 13 like starts in a row where he's got like a 2
- 10:251/2 ERA and like a one WHIP, which is not really what his
- 10:29numbers were in his career. He had a couple of hot streaks
- 10:31earlier in his career. But he's he's like a guy that
- 10:34kind of middles off similar to like Stroman's numbers in that
- 10:37game that you were talking about before where he's, you know, a
- 10:40couple of strikeouts limited the hits to less than one per
- 10:43inning. He's going to get one of those
- 10:45every once in a while. And the Yankees need to get and
- 10:48the Yankees need to get rid of Volpe.
- 10:50I don't know what's going on with this organization.
- 10:52Volpe has been horrible defensively.
- 10:54He made, he had another error tonight.
- 10:56I mean, he's making too many mistakes and he's not hitting
- 10:59enough. If you can't, your strength is
- 11:02your defense. And you, you won a Gold Glove
- 11:04last year and you were the best shortstop in the American
- 11:06League. And you, you don't produce this
- 11:09year. The Yankees need to either send
- 11:11them down or trade him. But he's not worth anything
- 11:13right now, so you might as well send him down.
- 11:16He's always. Says he's he's a savage.
- 11:18He's like the rest of them. It's horrible.
- 11:21Didn't he say elite? He's elite and it's a savage
- 11:24elite, You know, it's let me ask Danny, because I've said this,
- 11:28Danny, good teams don't have this problem, do they?
- 11:32Good teams might have problems. Good coach teams have a lot less
- 11:35problems. It's almost like coaching
- 11:37matters on some level. If a team is coached well, they
- 11:40know what to do at certain moments and when a team is not
- 11:43coach but it looks like it's the first time they're playing a
- 11:45game, which is really scary. I mean, like we got 2 pros out
- 11:50here who know that they've had different coaches, different
- 11:52managers, and I bet you they can tell you guys that could reach
- 11:55them, that can make changes effectively and then other guys
- 11:58who were there because they were there.
- 12:01Thank you. Good.
- 12:02One, wait a second. So now we have another guy that
- 12:06is going to point their fingers at Aaron Boone.
- 12:09This is. Someone, someone has to do it at
- 12:11this point. Arrow.
- 12:12It's constant. It's they play bad baseball and
- 12:16lose games they shouldn't. Baseball, baseball is a sport
- 12:21and, and, and Jabba and Nick know this more than anything.
- 12:24You go on the mound, you pitch your game.
- 12:26It has nothing to do with the manager.
- 12:27You go to the plate, is the manager going to hit for you?
- 12:30No. Joe Torry, he had a load of
- 12:33great talent around him for years.
- 12:35Those line UPS, the core players.
- 12:37You're going to tell me Joe Torry was a great manager.
- 12:39He was the last person that George Steinburner wanted to
- 12:42bring in. He didn't even want him there,
- 12:44and he became. One of the best managers talk
- 12:46about the guy before him and Buck, who always had the great
- 12:48fundamental defense and the great fundamental base running
- 12:52and the great fundamentals that carried over to that Tory team,
- 12:55which might not have been Tory's strength.
- 12:57And then they had that great run.
- 12:59It happened with Buck everywhere right where after he left
- 13:01because people couldn't take Buck after a while that, but
- 13:04they had those intangibles that made them good teams.
- 13:07I don't see that with the Boone teams.
- 13:09The Boone teams make bad base running mistakes.
- 13:12I mean we can show the video of Vivos getting gunned down by
- 13:15Acuna where he doesn't even slide in a game that they lost
- 13:19because they made a made the out of third.
- 13:21Base Oh so oh, so now we're going to try to compare a guy
- 13:25like Aaron Boone who's never managed anywhere else.
- 13:28Remember, he came, he was a sport.
- 13:30He was on ESPN working for baseball night and this guy got
- 13:34a chance. His father was his background as
- 13:37AGM. His his brother has worked, you
- 13:40know, for different organizations and was a good
- 13:42baseball player. So we're going to blame Aaron
- 13:44Boone, where he has one of the best winning percentages in
- 13:47Yankees history, and we're going to sit here and say, oh, Aaron
- 13:50Boone doesn't do this right? He doesn't do that right.
- 13:52There are a lot of managers that don't don't do things right.
- 13:55There's one of them over there with the Dodgers and he's won
- 13:59and he's won. Championships.
- 14:01Aaron Boone is is not He's the manager.
- 14:03He's not necessarily the coach. The coach is the analytical team
- 14:06in New York who make all decisions.
- 14:08Yes, they make all the decisions.
- 14:10They pull the strings there. Well, he is.
- 14:12I mean, I'm sure he makes some game time decisions, but for the
- 14:15most part, he's getting fed all the analytics from the
- 14:18analytical department and it all gets streamlined right to him.
- 14:22Either has a game, he has a game plan going into the game.
- 14:24And I'm sure that that game plan will deviate throughout as
- 14:29different scenarios happen throughout the game.
- 14:32And I know that he's getting fed information, you know, before he
- 14:36makes a decision on who to bring in and whatnot.
- 14:39They have numbers. They have everything in the book
- 14:41that you can possibly go through.
- 14:43And so like, yeah, he's going to get beat up in the media because
- 14:46that's his job. He's the manager.
- 14:47So he gets beat up in the media. But at the end of the day, like,
- 14:50if you were to peel back, you know, the layers, if you will,
- 14:55the people who should get be getting beat up in the media are
- 14:57probably the analytical department on who they signed
- 15:01and who they're putting in certain situations.
- 15:03Now, can Aaron Boone play making an impact?
- 15:07Of course he can set the the temperature of the locker room.
- 15:10You know, he can go around and, and give guys confidence and,
- 15:15and just let him, you know, like Tito did that for me.
- 15:18And I want, if there's something about it that you want to play
- 15:21harder for that guy. And by the way, by the way, I'm
- 15:24sorry Josh is saying that he thinks he's a good manager.
- 15:26I'm sorry to cut you off, Goody. Go ahead.
- 15:28Yeah, no, I mean, I, I, I mean, he went, he was in the World
- 15:31Series last year and he's got one of the best teams in
- 15:34baseball now. So like, how can we sit here and
- 15:37say he's a good or bad manager? I mean, he's he has a winning
- 15:41record. I have a question for Nick and
- 15:43for Joba. Joba.
- 15:46Joba. Joba.
- 15:50So my question is this the Yankees pitching staff, right?
- 15:53How many of those pitchers, I mean, just to pick on the
- 15:56Yankees and and their their manager, how many pitchers have
- 16:00come to the Yankees organization that are currently a team that
- 16:03are worth their weight, right? Like look at the the Yankees
- 16:07starting staff, right? It's.
- 16:08Free. From from where?
- 16:11From where? Breed was from over here at San
- 16:14Francisco, no. Breed is on.
- 16:17And Rhodon? Oh, free.
- 16:18I mean, Rhodon from San Francisco.
- 16:20Yeah, Free time. I know.
- 16:21It's like, what are the Yankees doing with their minor leagues
- 16:24that that no one is coming through to be effective?
- 16:27It would it be bad coaching? Would it be?
- 16:29That's that's my point, Dan. Like, I just see a lot of
- 16:33mediocrity, Dan, and everyone seems to want to defend Boone.
- 16:37I haven't forgiven him for putting Nestor Cortez in to face
- 16:40Freddie Freeman. And that's why and that's why
- 16:43you're not AGM and that's why you're not a coach, buddy.
- 16:46They lost the game that way. He had Tim Hill to put in and
- 16:50they went to Nestor, who's cold for a month.
- 16:52He is a high. School come up and can handle
- 16:54the pressures in New York. Louise Hill is one of them who
- 16:56can do it. Some guys can do it, some guys
- 16:59can't. A lot of people, I think when
- 17:01people come up to the Yankee system and they get traded away
- 17:05and they have success, they can find they can they they find who
- 17:09they are as a Major League Baseball player, then they can
- 17:11come back to New York as a more mature veteran, if you will.
- 17:14And then be able to handle the New York media and everything
- 17:18outside of baseball. I mean, they do produce good.
- 17:21They do produce good. I mean, there's two guys in the
- 17:24Boston Red Sox bullpen that are every night, every day in
- 17:27pitchers. I mean, Whitlock and and Weiser
- 17:29are both home grown Yankees that are putting together decent
- 17:34seasons or or have put together decent seasons.
- 17:36So it's sometimes you have to get away from New York and then
- 17:40you'll end up coming back. If if if it if it's in your
- 17:43cards. But they they're coaching it
- 17:45there isn't bad. I mean they there's a reason why
- 17:49a lot of young players get poached from the Yankees minor
- 17:51league system. Not only players but coaches as
- 17:53well, because they produce. Same with Cleveland, same with
- 17:56LA, They produce. Like if you look at the top five
- 18:00or 10, whatever, Cleveland, LA and the Dodgers are the top
- 18:04three for minor leagues and producing pitching.
- 18:07Last one for the. Yankees to number. 4 speedy Yeah
- 18:10last one for the Yankees. So Aaron Judge ties Alex
- 18:13Rodriguez 351 home runs as a Yankee and he did it in 417 less
- 18:18games and a rod played 1505 games as a Yankee and Aaron
- 18:21Judge 1092. What are your thoughts of more
- 18:25history for Aaron Judge? Aaron Judge, Iron Judge is one
- 18:29of the most dominant players we've seen with the New York
- 18:33Yankees since Mickey Mantle, since Don Mattingly, when he
- 18:37went on that five year stint, since Derek Jeter, when he went
- 18:41on that stint of, you know, that hitting spree and Alex Rodriguez
- 18:44doing what he did when he came to the New York Yankees.
- 18:47When we think of star players, star players that don't go out
- 18:51there, throw his team under the bus, I'll say it over and over
- 18:53and over again. What makes Aaron Judge so
- 18:56special is when he goes out there after the game, win or
- 18:59lose, he doesn't he doesn't Rep what he does.
- 19:01He doesn't pat himself on the back.
- 19:03Oh, I hit three home runs in a game.
- 19:05I was four. I was 4 for five.
- 19:07No, he says, listen, if we when we win, it's more important to
- 19:11win than putting up the numbers that I'm doing.
- 19:13If I'm not winning, those numbers mean nothing.
- 19:16That is a star, our player, Matt Mike Trout.
- 19:19People forget what Mike Trout said over the years when he was
- 19:21a dominant force over there with the Angels.
- 19:23The Angels sucked when Mike Trout was one of the best
- 19:26players in the world. And what did Mike Trout say
- 19:28every time after the game when people didn't even know who Mike
- 19:31Trout was? Mike Trout said, listen, I could
- 19:33put up all the numbers you want. I cannot be A5 tool player if
- 19:37we're not winning. Why does it even matter?
- 19:39And and it's it's true. They never had any pitching to
- 19:42win either. So, but no, I it's it's it's
- 19:47crazy to think and OK, this this will go back to kind of what you
- 19:51said fish too and and Dan as well.
- 19:54OK, so is he going to play long enough to like break everything
- 19:59because he got a late start because they did wait later as a
- 20:03first round traffic out of Fresno State.
- 20:05So he had the college pedigree and he didn't make his debut
- 20:10till he was 20. 4. So is, and, and we've talked
- 20:14about this before, it's kind of, it's kind of catch 22, right?
- 20:18It's like, do we bring a spark right now and, you know, ruin or
- 20:24risk that chance or do we do we kind of let him be successful
- 20:30and we've seen what that's turned into.
- 20:31Obviously it's a lot of hard work and dedication and and
- 20:34understanding, but I get I, I understand both sides of it, it.
- 20:39But he yeah, he's going to go down as one of the best Yankees
- 20:43ever. It'll be determined to see if he
- 20:46goes. I mean, he's going to, he's
- 20:47going to hit 400. Is he going to hit?
- 20:50100 is the question. So for me, it's is he going to
- 20:54win? You know if he's going to be
- 20:55compared to the best Yankees because of the tradition of the
- 20:57team, you have to win a championship to be considered
- 21:01one of the best Yankees in this story franchise.
- 21:03Right. Harold says it in our in the
- 21:05opening before we get going. Are we going to have this
- 21:09conversation and be like, well, he didn't win, but he's got 600
- 21:14homers or MVP, whatever. I'm just throwing numbers out,
- 21:19but are we going to say that about him if they don't make it
- 21:23like they have to make some type of change?
- 21:25I don't know. If that's boon, I don't know.
- 21:27If it's cash, I don't know, sell the team.
- 21:30I'm I'm I'm just throwing weird stuff out and you can't keep
- 21:35getting there without winning. And just like Alex Rodriguez,
- 21:38until Alex Rodriguez went on that run in 2009, nobody thought
- 21:42he was a winner. Now I I know everybody hates
- 21:44Alex Rodriguez, but Alex Rodriguez is going to go down as
- 21:47one of the top four players of all time.
- 21:49Steroids are not. Go look at his numbers.
- 21:51That numbers don't lie. Was he a good person?
- 21:53No. Was he a sensational, you know,
- 21:57person off the field? I've heard that he's been good.
- 22:00And by the way, he owns the Timberwolves now.
- 22:02He's a good businessman. I I do believe Alex Rodriguez,
- 22:05if he didn't win a championship in 2009, nobody who cares about
- 22:09all his accolades. He want he helped the Yankees
- 22:11win in 2009. So Aaron Judge has to win a
- 22:14championship to be considered one of the greatest Yankees of
- 22:17all time. If he wins one, which I believe
- 22:19he will, the Yankees are going to win at least one before he's
- 22:21done so. You say he won't go down if he
- 22:24hits as one of the great. No, no, because again, when we
- 22:29think about some of the great Yankees of our time, Joe
- 22:32DiMaggio, he won. Mickey Mantle, He won Babe Ruth.
- 22:36You know, there were five teams in the league when they won
- 22:37World Series, those guys. Doesn't matter.
- 22:39Like still won, still won. Like 96 teams an hour.
- 22:42Oh come on, man. Still won.
- 22:44You just think everything before the Mets was like fake baseball,
- 22:47like fake news baseball in 62. All right, teams.
- 22:54Come on man all. Right, he's going to go down and
- 22:56regret one of the greatest Yankees.
- 22:58Of all time, I do too about it. Whether he wins or not, he's one
- 23:02of the. Best I think the question is
- 23:03does he go down in Yankees history like similar to the guys
- 23:07like Mickey Mantle? If he does, if he is, he's going
- 23:09to have to win championships. If.
- 23:11Champion. He's the best play, he's the
- 23:13best championships, yeah, ship to be compared to those ones.
- 23:18One, if he had 600 home runs, yes.
- 23:20If if he's is he a Hall of Famer at this point?
- 23:22100% he's a Hall of Famer now. Just because of the pace he's
- 23:26on, like you assume like two more years and he's at 400
- 23:29something home runs, Yeah, it's kind of hard to argue with what
- 23:33he's doing. Dude, he's going to win.
- 23:34He's going to win another MVP. In the last few years, this
- 23:37would be 3 MVPS in the last four years.
- 23:40I mean, how many players, how many players have done that?
- 23:44I mean Mike Trout. He's the most fun Yankee to
- 23:47watch in the regular season since I can't remember.
- 23:52And we see what he did for Juan Solo with the Yankees versus
- 23:55Juan Solo with the Mets. It's two different hitters.
- 24:00All right, Speedy, move on to those Mets with #3 all.
- 24:04Right, so Kodai Senga returned tonight, unfortunately had a
- 24:06rough start following four runs in just three innings.
- 24:08But before that, here's a stat that's interesting.
- 24:11So top ten in barrel rate against Kodai Senga 6.4%, which
- 24:15is up to the same as Tariq Skubal, who's been the best
- 24:17pitcher in baseball pretty much all year.
- 24:19So second-half expectations for Senga coming off injury was
- 24:22about a month. Dan, what were your thoughts on
- 24:24what you saw tonight? And then you guys, obviously the
- 24:26pitchers and. Errol.
- 24:28Come in right after that. But you've been.
- 24:29The Mets fan, we'll start with you.
- 24:32I get the lead. Awesome.
- 24:33So First off that that goes fork is for real.
- 24:37And I don't get it cuz to me that's a split finger fastball.
- 24:40I'm old, right? So I, I saw Mike Scott in the
- 24:4280s, you know, and I saw Bruce Souter in the 80s get through
- 24:45the same goddamn bitch. And for some reason is looks
- 24:50more deceiving. And we've got 2 pictures here
- 24:52that can speak to this way better than I can.
- 24:55But like, I don't get what makes a pitch devastating for one guy
- 24:59and makes it pedestrian for the next guy.
- 25:01So maybe should ask the pros because like they are both Major
- 25:05League pitchers and they will tell you that guys in their
- 25:07bullpen or on their Staffs they play with through the same exact
- 25:11goddamn pitch and it broke 66 inches more or it's spun at the
- 25:15end and tailed off inside. Like what makes a pitcher be
- 25:19able to take a pitch that everyone's thrown for 100 years
- 25:21and just make it their own? I mean, you could you could say
- 25:24that about every pitch really. Like why does why does this
- 25:27basketball run and it's manipulating the baseball?
- 25:31How you, you know, have AI guess pressure on index finger pinky.
- 25:37Like there's so many ways to do it.
- 25:39Some guys arm slots play a part of it.
- 25:43Some guys just naturally that's what it does use Devin Williams
- 25:50example. He over pronates instead of just
- 25:53a regular change up like he does it on purpose because it's
- 25:57basically his internal rotation is is more than normal.
- 26:00So I think there's a lot of things that play a part into it.
- 26:03Yeah, it's like, hey, yeah, we off their change UPS, but mine
- 26:06sucks and yours is really good and we hold it the same exact
- 26:09way. I mean that's just there's no
- 26:11rhyme or reason. Oh, your spin rates, not this,
- 26:13your horizontal. Like they're going to tell you
- 26:16that, but honestly, it's like I, I tried every change up in the
- 26:21world and they all sucked. So I yeah, it was terrible.
- 26:26So. But that's like that's like
- 26:28Mario Rivera throwing the cutter and made it his, you know, he
- 26:32threw one pitch. I mean, he threw A4 seam, you
- 26:35know, every now and then sporadically, but like it was a
- 26:37cutter. He made it his.
- 26:38What made his cutter so good? I think it was his control and
- 26:41being able to locate it whenever he wherever he wanted to and
- 26:44then whatever count he wanted to as well and then be able to buzz
- 26:47a force seam in there, straight pitch there and then you have
- 26:50the cutter that goes there. So like setting up pitches, a
- 26:54lot of it could be deceptive. A lot of it could be what Jabba
- 26:57said. Now they, now they have pitch
- 27:00design labs where you can get the exact horizontal, the exact
- 27:03vertical brake that you want. Spin you, you can increase spin.
- 27:11All the sticky stuff, you know well that that will increase
- 27:15spin. Now that they're checking for
- 27:16that. I think spin rate's probably
- 27:18more like a fingerprint. You know, it's, it's related to
- 27:22who you are as a pitcher. I think the pressure that you
- 27:26put on the back of the ball and on the seams as you come
- 27:28through, I'm sure there are ways to create more spin, but a lot
- 27:35of that has to do with deceptiveness, your delivery,
- 27:38your release point. If you look at Mizarovski's, the
- 27:43guy for the brewery. Misery.
- 27:44That's what he is when he hit. Fastball, like he throws a
- 27:48fastball 100 to 102. So does Paul Skeens like why
- 27:51don't those guys? Obviously it's 102, but he has
- 27:54the most extension in the league by far.
- 27:56And it looks like it's just jumping on guys and it looks
- 27:59like it's rising and guys will come.
- 28:00They come back and they're like, you know, he threw a 98 mile an
- 28:03hour slider like ha, you know, it's just, it's crazy what's
- 28:09going on. Some of it doesn't make sense,
- 28:11some of it just doesn't like. It's God-given.
- 28:14Let me try to make some sense of it for you guys.
- 28:17Here's a baseball savant. If you guys aren't on this, This
- 28:20has been pretty new the last couple of years.
- 28:23You could take a look. This is Senga.
- 28:25Anything in red is good. Blue is generally bad.
- 28:28It's the easy way to look at it. Down the middle is average.
- 28:30So Senga with extension, that's like how the ball gets on top.
- 28:33How you, I don't know you guys explained to me, but the ball
- 28:35gets on top, like you said, with Miss Zorowski.
- 28:38So his is kind of average, but he's been really kind of
- 28:40crushing it. He doesn't have the best
- 28:42velocity, but he's throwing almost 94.
- 28:44He walks too many guys, but everything else is well above
- 28:48average. He might be if he could stay
- 28:50healthy. He's great.
- 28:51And this is the one that you can see the best red one there.
- 28:54That 98 that's off speed run value.
- 28:56I'm assuming that's about the movement of the ghost fork and
- 29:00just how unhittable that pitch is.
- 29:02So you can kind of see it analytically these days.
- 29:04All right, moving on. Speedy #2 yes.
- 29:08Moving on to Francesco Alvarez finally got called back up.
- 29:11Talk about him getting demoted about a month ago and he's back.
- 29:13He had twelve home runs and 975 OPS in the minor leagues.
- 29:17He had 267 points higher than his MLB career and then 323
- 29:20higher than this season, which was in the six hundreds.
- 29:23So big, big turn around for Alvarez.
- 29:25Jabba actually said when he went down that he's going to be
- 29:29called up. There's no way they're keeping
- 29:31him down for the rest of the season.
- 29:33He's a he's a big part of their offense.
- 29:35He was a big part of their offense last year.
- 29:37This guy's got a strong bat. He's got a big bat and and the
- 29:40Mets are going to need him if they want to make a run to the
- 29:43playoffs and make a run throughout the playoffs.
- 29:45He he was very good in the playoffs for the New York Mets,
- 29:48especially against certain teams.
- 29:50I remember if who was it? It was Milwaukee, Phillies in
- 29:53Milwaukee. Milwaukee was a big part of
- 29:55their offense in Philadelphia too.
- 29:58The Mets are going to need his bat.
- 29:59He's a great defensive player. That's what he had problems with
- 30:02and why they sent him down. He was making mistakes throwing
- 30:04the ball. I think he's got better and I
- 30:07expect him to make a speedy A speedy A present presents for
- 30:13the New York Mets now in the second-half of the season.
- 30:15So I think that's good news for the New York Mets that he was
- 30:17hot in AAA. Yeah, we had.
- 30:19We talked about that too. It's like do you send him down
- 30:22or I don't remember the catcher that we was a common arrow.
- 30:25Whoever we sent there, they just basically released him and owed
- 30:28him 24,000,000. And you're talking about was
- 30:33literally, it can help this kid because the pressure's off him
- 30:38and he's able to just go out and work on those things.
- 30:41And I think part of it, he was taking what he was doing in the
- 30:44field too. Is that bats?
- 30:46And now you got to work on everything.
- 30:48It's good for him for not, you know, putting his dauber in the
- 30:51dirt and feeling bad for himself.
- 30:52Going back to AAA and being able to, you know, just be like, look
- 30:57yourself in the mirror. And it's like, I'm going to get
- 30:58back there. You know, these are some things
- 31:00I need to work on. I mean, it's not like I'm still
- 31:02not playing baseball getting paid.
- 31:04So it was I'm, I'm proud of him for doing it because it's not
- 31:08easy when you, when you get to the big leagues and get sent
- 31:10down it, you know, it kicks you a little bit.
- 31:12But I like I like the dobber and the dirt.
- 31:14That was pretty funny. My dad used to play it all the
- 31:17time. There was this great play
- 31:20Alvarez did believedly his other his last season.
- 31:23He tastes himself. Just an unbelievable double
- 31:26play. He steps on the base on a broken
- 31:28bat, guns at the first. This guy has all sorts of talent
- 31:32on both sides of the ball. He actually was involved in two
- 31:35of the runs in the rally in the 7th and 8th inning tonight for
- 31:39the Mets in their in their comeback win against the Angels.
- 31:42So fish where's? Pay dividends for the Mets with
- 31:46Alvarez speedy. Number one and.
- 31:49We run it out with Mets legend now Ring of Honor member David
- 31:52Wright. He got his number retired, the
- 31:5410th Mets to have his number retired.
- 31:56First time he was retired for a Mets player that was there for
- 31:58his whole career and some stats on him, 87 of his 248 home runs
- 32:03were actually go ahead home runs and he ate his eight walk all
- 32:05farm runs, which is the most in New York Mets history.
- 32:08David Wright, one of the best defensive third baseman as well.
- 32:10Fish, you were talking about me earlier about he had a 48.3 WAR
- 32:13before he obviously had all the spinal stenosis issues.
- 32:16Unfortunately finished with the 49.2 career WAR.
- 32:19So David Wright into the raft. In City Field 3.
- 32:27It's a great player, wasn't he? He's the captain, dude.
- 32:30David Wright #5. Made all these great defensive
- 32:33plays. I remember there was one like he
- 32:35was kind of running backwards and it was the bare hands.
- 32:40It was just this legendary play. I've got my own feelings to
- 32:43David Wright. First of all, every time I met
- 32:44David Wright, he's an ass. That's.
- 32:46That's of course you don't like the most likable player.
- 32:49He was an ass. I met him three times, Captain
- 32:52America as he came out and he actually him and John Carlos
- 32:57standing, that helmet, you know, to put it in front of his face
- 32:59when he got in the head. They're the ones that created
- 33:02those new helmets that a lot of these baseball players are
- 33:04wearing because of David Wright's and and Giancarlo
- 33:08stands so David Wright. I had like the big head helmet
- 33:11too, didn't David Wright? Like it was like a monster.
- 33:13Right away, after Matt Cain hit him, that's what he Errol's
- 33:16talking about. In 2012, he started using that
- 33:19for a little while. Then he went back to the normal
- 33:201. I, I, I was never a big David
- 33:23Wright fan. I, I remember, obviously, if I'm
- 33:27not mistaken, he came, he played in Virginia.
- 33:29Yes, he played in Virginia. He grew up actually with Ryan
- 33:32Zimmerman. And Ryan Brothers, yeah.
- 33:34Yeah, and and got. God damn, what?
- 33:38Were you saying, I'm sorry, I just like, I like, like, is it
- 33:41amazing how like in some areas they produce major leaguers and
- 33:45then in some areas they don't like, like I was just saying
- 33:48before, like the Stroman's right, There's got to be
- 33:50Marcus's younger brother, Steven Matz all came from like 1 town.
- 33:55Yeah, right. Yeah, but but Long Island's a
- 33:57big ass place. It's 3 million people here.
- 33:59It's it's big, but like 1 town amongst 3,000,000 produced three
- 34:02Major League players, right? What's the name?
- 34:07Lindor with Winker right? And it's like some high.
- 34:11School from my hometown, yeah. Like high school, like we
- 34:15produced 50 Major League players my high school, we produced one
- 34:18guy who sucked for Toronto. Like for one season, Oh shoot, I
- 34:25should know that because no, I should have because he sucked.
- 34:30But you also never came back to work with the team like you
- 34:34think you were. It was your hometown.
- 34:35Like, well, I almost made the majors for a year.
- 34:38Like let me go back and show you guys how to do not on that shit.
- 34:41So. There's too much you probably
- 34:43deserve. There's too much of A love fest
- 34:44for David Wright. OK, I I to me.
- 34:47Dude, he was one of the best dude.
- 34:48Him and him and Jose Reyes on the left side of the infield,
- 34:51like I remember playing MLB The Show.
- 34:55The same Jose Reyes at the the final game of the season, for
- 34:59him to win a batting title, he decided to pull himself out.
- 35:01Yeah, Great. Good job, Jose.
- 35:03We love you, buddy. That's why you won the batting
- 35:06title. You guys think I don't know.
- 35:08You don't think I remember that stuff.
- 35:09Give me a break. You know what, I you know what I
- 35:12think about certain players for the New York Mets organization?
- 35:15An absolute joke. You guys are going to sit here
- 35:18and tell me about David Wright. How how great of a player he
- 35:20was. Yeah.
- 35:21When he actually played on the field, he was a great 5 tool
- 35:24player for like what, four years?
- 35:27David Wright to me could have been great, but he bitched and
- 35:30moan. And then the one run that he had
- 35:32in the World Baseball Classic, as they gave him, as they call
- 35:36him the one and only Captain America that season, he got hit
- 35:40in the head. He was never the same player.
- 35:42Congratulations to a great career of That's what I think
- 35:46about David Wright. I think Met fans should stop
- 35:49kissing his ass. I I think he's so overrated.
- 35:51Let's talk about guys like Carlos Beltran when the Mets
- 35:54brought him to the organization, what he did for the New York
- 35:57Mets. How about that?
- 35:59How about that guy? OK, that's a strike.
- 36:02Like the curveball in the middle of the way.
- 36:05I don't. Yeah, I don't know.
- 36:07I watched that game too. You're going to tell me?
- 36:09Wasn't wasn't right the best player on that team that went to
- 36:11the World Series though? No.
- 36:14Until he got hurt at the beginning of the season, he was.
- 36:17Daniel Murphy. Daniel Murphy made that run.
- 36:19That's why. The best player though.
- 36:21Daniel Murphy, not Daniel Murphy, was the best offensive
- 36:24player in the playoffs when they went to the World Series.
- 36:27Go look at it. You could go look.
- 36:29At Wright was a Gold Glove defensive.
- 36:30Player. Good for him, good for him.
- 36:33Makes him a better player. He wasn't a better player.
- 36:36David Wright was our gold love defensive player and almost
- 36:38David. Wright is one of the most
- 36:40overrated Mets of all. Time so like he's just under the
- 36:43Hall of Fame 50 to 70 war. We always talk about Speedy.
- 36:47He's at 49 point something because of all the injuries.
- 36:51He's you bring up these? Really.
- 36:52Close to a Hall of Fame. Analytics that mean crap.
- 36:56I'm so tired of it. Stop with the war crap.
- 36:58He was an elite player for eight years.
- 37:00Good. He's in the Hall of Pretty Good.
- 37:01Is that what it is? He's he's going to have the same
- 37:03issues as Mattingly I. Do like that Twitter account
- 37:07that is a. Good 1 I think.
- 37:08I think Mattingly is probably the best comparison to be
- 37:11honest. You and ask me who's better,
- 37:13David Wright or Don Manning? I'm taking Don Manningly, Donnie
- 37:15Baseball and Harpy. So let's see what the war is.
- 37:19I'll stop it to war. Stop with your.
- 37:21War with your, your, your. What you should be high because
- 37:23it was a great defensive. Player right Don with this this
- 37:26segment speedy 6 pack of the and my New York baseball.
- 37:29I just can't believe. That's.
- 37:30Right rights. Rights is higher.
- 37:33I I'll tell you what I'll do to David Wright if I ever see him.
- 37:36I'll take my shoe right here. You see this nice little flat
- 37:39and shove it where the sun doesn't rest.
- 37:40That's right. I can't stand David Wright.
- 37:43So overrated. Overrated player of all time for
- 37:48the New York Mets. All right, let's go into it.
- 37:51King of the Hill. And here's the King of the Hill.
- 37:55This, Bobby, is the Beltline. You never ever hit below that.
- 37:59Not that kind of king of the hill, you dumb ready?
- 38:02Are. You ready?
- 38:03This is King of the Hill. Glory hole.
- 38:06I need Brittany also. Guys, get the music on and
- 38:13welcome back to King of the Hill where we will take on the King
- 38:19after all the peasants fight it out in round one, followed by
- 38:23the joust in Round 2 for a chance to take on the King.
- 38:27King Errol has kept his crown every week except for one.
- 38:31Will he keep it this week? It looks like we got Goody
- 38:34Jabba, Dan Radziki and Speedy PD playing tonight.
- 38:40Radical King of the Hill. Any radical?
- 38:43Let's get it straight here. All right, here we go.
- 38:46All right, here we are. To start it off first one, best
- 38:50receiving running backs of all time.
- 38:54So they have to be known for their hands out of the
- 38:58backfield. The way it works, we'll go in
- 39:01order and then snake back like a fantasy draft.
- 39:04So we'll set up the camera right here.
- 39:06Dan's your first time playing. We'll let you go first on this
- 39:10one. We'll put the King up top in his
- 39:13slot 4. King of the Hill.
- 39:16Damn, what do you? Got.
- 39:17Let Danley and Tomlinson. And tell us why.
- 39:21Because I watched him with The Jets when he was quote UN quote
- 39:24washed and he was excellent and The Jets always suck.
- 39:28So if he was good with The Jets, he must have been.
- 39:30A. You wanted to jerk me off.
- 39:31Before that happened. All right, Speedy.
- 39:36All right, I'll go with another one that was great a little
- 39:38before him, but that was Marshall Faulk.
- 39:40He's not better than Ladainian Tomlinson like Eric Coleman
- 39:43thinks, but I do think he still was one of the best.
- 39:45Ones he was. Definitely one of the best ones
- 39:48of that era. I talked about that offense
- 39:49being one of the best of all time, that offense.
- 39:51And that kind of bubble gum. That game changer for a pass
- 39:53catching running back, getting the running backs more involved.
- 39:55In that, I'll let you lick my butts.
- 39:58All right, Jabba. I'm going to go with one of my
- 40:02guys from Nebraska and Roger Craig.
- 40:05I think his all around game was was really good and and being
- 40:09able to watch him go and do what he did.
- 40:13I mean he had he had over almost 5000 receiving yards.
- 40:18So that should tell you something with only eight. 1000
- 40:21at least. We're all right goody for two.
- 40:26Go. I'm going with my guys.
- 40:28CMC Christian McCaffrey, 509 receptions.
- 40:32He's still on a roll. He has 4400 plus receiving
- 40:36yards, 29 plus touchdowns. He caught 116 passes in 2019,
- 40:41which was the most ever by a running back in a season.
- 40:44He's a basically a wide receiver and a running back, and he's
- 40:48still in this prime, new knee and all.
- 40:50Goody second pick. #2 We're going to go at Larry Centers.
- 40:56I don't know if you know who he is, but he is technically a
- 40:58fullback. I know who he is. 827 catches
- 41:02are the most popular running back fullback ever.
- 41:04He had 101 catches in 1990. Five 6797 receiving yards, 28
- 41:11tutties. Back to Jabba.
- 41:15I don't know if you know who he is.
- 41:19Great. Had a great rating in Madden 96.
- 41:23My pinky is bigger than yours. What do you what?
- 41:26Do you chance to I love him that.
- 41:28That's so good. John, I liked my stream
- 41:30cocktail. A guy I watched kick our butts
- 41:34over and over from Kansas State and Darren Sproles, that was the
- 41:39name of his game. Like, you didn't know what,
- 41:42especially in college, but then, you know, to watch him get in
- 41:45and everybody was like talking about his size and whatever.
- 41:48Yeah, he was a little dude, but he was very elusive and and
- 41:50very, very good with, you know, more receiving yards than he had
- 41:55rushing yards. But also, I mean, great returner
- 41:57in that too. But when you're able to, you
- 42:00know, grow and build and be that size and and have the amount of
- 42:04yards you had over 11,000 total yards.
- 42:06So Darren Sproles. Even kick off, that's for.
- 42:10Four years speedy. Another guy that played in a
- 42:13Mike Martz offense and did very well, that was Matt Forte.
- 42:16Another guy enjoy close to 100 catches pretty much every year.
- 42:19I didn't. I don't think he had the
- 42:20receiving yard totals like McCaffrey did because it wasn't
- 42:23like as big. He did it the way he did it.
- 42:25The way you're saying and that goody, I don't think he's better
- 42:28than McCaffrey. I don't care.
- 42:30He definitely still for that, for that time in that offense,
- 42:33which has Jay Cutler, who was a gunslinging quarterback, so
- 42:35didn't check it down as much as he should have.
- 42:37Still had a lot of catches both of screens and with route
- 42:40running too, was very precise for him.
- 42:42So Matt Forte, Suck it. And now Dan for?
- 42:462 All right, let me let me use the goody method.
- 42:50Not me. So yeah, so I looked up most
- 42:54steps in a game, but I'm going to go with someone because
- 42:58clearly these guys are way better to football than I am.
- 43:00I only with OG Simpson as a running back at cut off two
- 43:05people's heads. So unlike these guys who caught
- 43:08like 1000 balls a year, he has more murders than any player in
- 43:12football. So I'm going to go to OJ on my.
- 43:15Thanks. Are you sure about that?
- 43:16Aaron Hernandez got a couple bodies, you stick.
- 43:18A finger. 2. Plays a different position.
- 43:20He's a tight. In.
- 43:22He's a tight in though. He got to tight in.
- 43:24All right, Dan, last pick in the round.
- 43:27He's a crybaby. I think I have another player.
- 43:30Yeah, we do 3. So you pick 2.
- 43:32Now you got to do the last one. For The Jets, because those
- 43:38seats are so bad, they had to throw to somebody to avoid the
- 43:40quarterback dying and I'm sure he has a lot of receptions.
- 43:43I got to guess like 1000 just because that team was so
- 43:45terrible with Richard Todd's quarterback.
- 43:47It must have been a lot of receptions, like life saving
- 43:50ones though. All right.
- 43:53Speedy. All right.
- 43:54I'll finish it off with a modern one night guy that I think.
- 43:56Kamario. Very precise as a route runner
- 43:58as well and he's still playing. Not as good of a runner as he
- 44:00used to be. But Alvin Kamara as a receiver,
- 44:03I think you definitely saw, I think the combinations in that
- 44:05Sean Payton offense. He was rookie of the year.
- 44:08And when they outside of Michael Thomas, they didn't have much
- 44:11when it came to offensive all around skills.
- 44:12That Kamara actually was kind of that second receiver on that
- 44:15team for a long time. Obviously, the injuries caught
- 44:17up to him later in his career. Never was an amazing pure runner
- 44:20all the time and later parts of his crew were.
- 44:22Receiving wise he's always been close to 1000 yards and probably
- 44:26the best route running that I've seen at probably besides
- 44:28McCaffrey. I got to go back off now.
- 44:31Jabba. I'm going to go Thurman and
- 44:36granted, he had a lot of rushing yards, but I just think when
- 44:39those years they were going back and forth with the Cowboys, how
- 44:42he was able to, you know, compete with with Emmett.
- 44:46And I mean, should he had 23 receiving touchdowns and almost
- 44:505000 receiving yards. Granted, he played a while, but
- 44:54I always loved when they go back and forth and they're kind of
- 44:57like the Yankees. They just could never win.
- 44:59Breaking news goody to finish it.
- 45:00Out woody has no woody. I'm going with Mr. USC himself,
- 45:04Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush, one of the most
- 45:07electrifying running backs we had his rookie season, 88
- 45:12catches, nearly 10 yards per reception.
- 45:15The guy was incredible, drove Mercedes-Benz, had hot wives,
- 45:19got tons of money and one of the Heisman got red band from the
- 45:24Heisman Trophy. And then once the NIL came back,
- 45:27my boy got his trophy back. So that's what I'm going.
- 45:30But they did the Kardashian do, which I'm sure it does.
- 45:34You live in New York. 5490 rushing yards, 18 tutties.
- 45:41I need Brittany. All right, Errol, who is moving
- 45:43on to the joules? I got to give Goodie a lot of
- 45:46credit because I liked every one of his picks but him reading.
- 45:50Off. I'm not reading it.
- 45:55You talking about? He's got an AI chip in his
- 45:57brain, That's what it is. I'm.
- 45:59Good. You know what?
- 46:02I'll give it to Goodie because. I just joked on a fruity.
- 46:10Goody's never made it to the second round.
- 46:12I'll take Goody, I'll take Speedy.
- 46:15Speedy's always. All right, Dan and Jabba pop off
- 46:18the screen. You'll come back for the third
- 46:20round where we vote if someone can beat Errol in a democratic
- 46:25way to usurp Dan his monarchy round #2 the joust.
- 46:35I wonder it. Is Goody best scrambling
- 46:39quarterbacks of all time? This type of quarterback has to
- 46:45be famously known for their running ability.
- 46:50Let's go back to the screen. This is easy.
- 46:55Got this one in the bag. I'm talking about Mr. Dog
- 46:57fighting himself. Michael Vick, he was scrambling
- 47:00from the cops and he was scrambling on the field.
- 47:03Career rush yards 6109 most ever by a quarterback.
- 47:07He was the best player in all the NFL games I ever played.
- 47:10I always pick with Atlanta because all I would do is fake
- 47:13rush it around the corner, take it for a hunt and we called it
- 47:1746 yard walk off TD versus the Vikings in 2010.
- 47:21I mean, it's Michael Vick hands down.
- 47:22Not even a question. Let's go to the the other game,
- 47:25whatever the ones after this. Speedy.
- 47:28All right, I'll go with Randall Cunningham in the 80s and 90s
- 47:32Eagles dual threat type guy. We talked about some of his
- 47:34receivers a couple weeks ago, like really making it, extending
- 47:37plays the way he did it. But again, we're scrambling with
- 47:39his legs too. And again, this that was the
- 47:41start of the mobile quarterback. They Rodger Staubach did it
- 47:44probably a little bit in the 70s.
- 47:46But I would say like in terms of like the electric like freak
- 47:48athlete running type quarterback Randall Cunningham was kind of
- 47:51the first of that boat. Back to Goody.
- 47:55We're going to kick it all the way back to my man Steve Young.
- 47:58He was the perfect balance of rushing, passing, dangerous
- 48:03scrambler with the legs, had an arm to carry himself over it and
- 48:08he knew how to slide to the left, slide to the right or take
- 48:10off. Super Bowl champion and MVP
- 48:13career rushed in yards 4239 and rushing TDs.
- 48:17He ended his career with 43. This guy was electrifying.
- 48:21One of the best to do whatever Hall of Famer.
- 48:24Speedy. Oh, you got to go with the one
- 48:25currently right now and Lamar Jackson, he's the only
- 48:27quarterback that's rushed for 1000 yards of the season.
- 48:29And then he's had close to it on several other occasions when
- 48:33he's gotten when he stayed healthy, he's at 809 hundred in
- 48:36a couple of seasons. Well, his first MVP year was
- 48:38about in that range. And again, Mike, Michael Vick
- 48:41was probably like in terms of like the fastest 1 the.
- 48:43The I am a legend. Biggest threat.
- 48:45But when it comes to like Lamar, the way he's able to run and
- 48:47improvise, the way he does it too in this era, it's very
- 48:51impressive what he's doing and what is kind of a power scheme
- 48:53with the Ravens when Greg Roman was there and now kind of
- 48:56transitioning in a different. One I need a magnifying glass
- 48:59for. 1000 yards of the season. I kind of have to make that a
- 49:02leverage point. And last one, goody.
- 49:05I don't care about rush yards in the season.
- 49:07I care about getting a job done. And that's touchdowns.
- 49:09And the most ever touchdowns ever was by my man Cam Newton.
- 49:13All right, 75 most ever by a quarterback.
- 49:18Big ass quarterback, running people over left and right,
- 49:21getting the job done. 5 / 5600 rushed in yards, played for
- 49:26multiple teams, stole laptops in Florida.
- 49:28This guy was a true Gator through and through.
- 49:31Went to the league, put on a show.
- 49:33Now he's doing his own podcast. I mean, the guy's incredible.
- 49:36Best scrambling. One of the best scrambling
- 49:38quarterbacks I've ever seen in my entire life.
- 49:41Speedy And I'll round it out with Steve McNair.
- 49:43Steve McNair, rest in peace. By the way, what happened to
- 49:45him? That was such a sad, sad.
- 49:47Story You like that? Because that's Arrow's guy.
- 49:50Well, yeah, again, and he was he was a guy that I get in the
- 49:52offense too. Again, that was very.
- 49:54Run Donovan McNabb, not Steve McNair.
- 49:56Run. Centric run centric offense with
- 49:58the Tennessee Titans in the early stages of Jeff Fisher and
- 50:00then even with the Ravens too, kind of rebirthing that
- 50:03quarterback position before Joe Flacco came along there and his
- 50:07running ability, his dual threat combinations with not a lot of
- 50:10great wide receiving talent throughout his career too, I
- 50:12think was very impressive. Obviously played with a lot of
- 50:13good running backs, but top 10 all the time when it comes to
- 50:16rushing yards for a quarterback as well.
- 50:17I'm going to go Steve McNair as my last one.
- 50:20All right, Errol, who's moving on to take on the king?
- 50:23I'm going to tell you this Nick Goody, I, I got it.
- 50:25I'm going to go with Nick because I like all three of his
- 50:28guys. I mean, Speedy actually knew
- 50:30what he was talking about. Nick is reading off the screen.
- 50:33So I'm. There and even in the top 10.
- 50:35Nick McNair was special man. Wasn't in the top ten.
- 50:39I got it. I've got the list.
- 50:41You got to watch that documentary about how.
- 50:43Air McNair, it's. A crazy, crazy story.
- 50:46All right, so let's get everyone back in.
- 50:48We're going to go up here for the the Taking on the King
- 50:53round. Let's bring in all of our
- 50:55earlier competitors and here we go for round three.
- 51:01Errol here. I know that's kind of like going
- 51:03to maybe easy for you, but the worst Jets draft picks of all
- 51:09time, you're going to have to tell me the worst picks they've
- 51:14ever made in the NFL draft. There are many to choose from
- 51:19for this one. Errol, would you like to go
- 51:22first or? 2nd I'll go first because I
- 51:26remember one that came from the Ohio State Buckeyes and his last
- 51:30name is Galston. Do we remember him speeding A
- 51:35defensive linebacker 6 pass 6 rounds?
- 51:39He was the he was, I think he was the 6th pick of the first
- 51:42round. If I'm not Misty, I don't even
- 51:43have this in front of me. And the guy had one tackle in
- 51:48five years in the NFL. He was moved to special teams.
- 51:52He was horrible. And this guy, he, his combine
- 51:55was ridiculous. We talk about it, he was
- 51:57breaking records. His combine, I think his his
- 52:00bench press is he's still there for linebackers.
- 52:03I think he benched it like 36 times to 25.
- 52:06I mean, he was unbelievable at the combine.
- 52:09It just shows you combines mean nothing as gold stand was the
- 52:14worst defensive lineman or defensive top front 7 we've ever
- 52:19seen The Jets draft. So I'll go.
- 52:20I'll go with that. We're going to kick it all the
- 52:24way back to Johnny Lamb Jones number two overall, the 1980s
- 52:28graft. All right, This guy had Olympic
- 52:31speed and no hands. This man couldn't even catch a
- 52:33cold. Only have one season.
- 52:35All right, Arrow, I know you looking it up.
- 52:37I see you over there making sure all this is right.
- 52:41Yeah, OK, look, I'm good. Only had one season, all right?
- 52:45700 receiving yards and was out of the league in five years.
- 52:48This guy with, you know, but kudos to him for going #2 he got
- 52:51his bag, but at the end of the day he's at home eating ramen
- 52:56noodles. Errol.
- 52:59I, I, I will point this guy out. This guy was the number one
- 53:04prospect in the country when he was brought to Penn State.
- 53:09Remember this guy, Christian Hackenberg?
- 53:13Remember him who couldn't hit a broadside of a barn when he came
- 53:16to the New York Jets? The Jets?
- 53:18Yes, the New York Jets and Mr. M as we called him as the GM or
- 53:23Mr. Idiot drafted this guy in the second round.
- 53:26This guy wasn't even shouldn't have been a top five first round
- 53:30draft pick. He should have been a 6th, 7th
- 53:32or beyond drafted player. This guy was the worst
- 53:36quarterback The Jets have ever drafted in I would say 40 years.
- 53:40When you talk about quarterbacks and the highest out of all of
- 53:43them, and I'm talking about first rider and we'll we'll go
- 53:45into the Zach Wilson trend, but this was horrible, horrible.
- 53:49OK, This was worse than Zach Wilson and it's crazy to say
- 53:53that. So I'm going to go Christian
- 53:55Hackenberg goody. I'm going to go with current
- 53:59quarterback Zach Wilson. This guy is great at banging
- 54:02moms, terrible at throwing the football.
- 54:05All right, let's go. He was the number two overall
- 54:08pick, showed elite skills, I think.
- 54:11Where do you go? Where do you go to Penn State or
- 54:12something? BYU.
- 54:15BYU1 of those schools with a sub, all right, poor, poor
- 54:19decision making, leadership skills are trash, Doesn't get it
- 54:23done. And he's not improved in three
- 54:25years and he's been benched multiple times.
- 54:27I mean, he's the number two pick, all right.
- 54:30You're signing for a $50 million deal.
- 54:32You expect the guy to show up and play and this guy hasn't got
- 54:34anything done, Sat behind Aaron Rodgers.
- 54:36Thank you. Learn something he hasn't.
- 54:39Next question. BYU is like the only school
- 54:41where he wouldn't be able to do that because they're all Mormons
- 54:43there. But Errol, you're up.
- 54:47This is going to be a head scratcher because I remember
- 54:49this draft very, very well because this is the draft they
- 54:52could have drafted Warren Sapp. Yes, and I remember this draft
- 54:55very, very well because head shaking, scratch, shaking and
- 54:59shaking was everything about this draft pick.
- 55:02I didn't even know who this guy was when he was drafted.
- 55:05I was right in front of the television screen when they
- 55:07called his name. That's Kyle Brady.
- 55:09Kyle Brady, tight end, when he came out of the draft, and I
- 55:13remember it very, very well because it made me sick to my
- 55:15stomach. Came from Penn State.
- 55:17This guy was picked over Warren Sapp.
- 55:21If The Jets and The Jets were sitting right there to grab him
- 55:24and they went over him for Kyle Brady.
- 55:27I, I, I enough said. I don't even have to talk about
- 55:29it. I, I, it makes me sick to my
- 55:31stomach. It's just another stupid, dumb
- 55:33move by the New York Jets, a Hall of Fame Warren Sapp for
- 55:38Kyle Brady. I'm done, done with the game.
- 55:41Goody, finish it off all. Right.
- 55:43Well, that's great. But is Warren Sapp comparable to
- 55:45Emmett Smith? Who would you rather have on
- 55:47your team? Warren Sapp?
- 55:48Warren Sapp over Emmett Smith. Emmett Smith, I'm.
- 55:52Talking about I'm talking about The Jets were primed to pick
- 55:55Emmett Smith, but instead they passed up on Emmett Smith to go
- 55:58with this guy named Blair Thomas, running back in the
- 56:001990s. Second overall, 2009 career
- 56:04yards and Four Seasons. Trash.
- 56:06Jabba can get that right now. He was taking over amidst Smith,
- 56:10and that's enough said. What was that?
- 56:12All right? He had no burdens.
- 56:14He had no durability and and despite being a good Penn State
- 56:18career player, like that was all he had.
- 56:20That was it. He ain't nothing.
- 56:22I'm taking Emmett Smith over Warren Sapp any day of the week.
- 56:24And Blair Thomas. You could kick rocks.
- 56:27All right, we'll start the voting.
- 56:30I'm going to go with Errol on this one, the Vernon goals.
- 56:33Of course you are. Call you a lamb bone.
- 56:39Hey goody, how many yards did Zach Wilson have for his career
- 56:42according to that website you were reading off of?
- 56:45I don't know, I don't have a website.
- 56:47Or do you have the you don't have glasses, you should get one
- 56:51of those where it's like just ABS it there.
- 56:53You're great. I just know he has been
- 56:55improving 3 years and he's good at banging moms.
- 56:58He is. He wasn't allowed to in college.
- 57:00Perhaps that's why he did it when he got to the pros.
- 57:03Hackenberg was unplayable so I agree.
- 57:06When I was a second round pick. Horrible.
- 57:07And the Kyle Brady pick is a legendary bad pick in history of
- 57:11the NFL draft. So I got to go with Errol.
- 57:13The only one I didn't hear was the Ken O'Brien pick.
- 57:15I was going to use Ken O'Brien. Probably wasn't the worst.
- 57:18Player. No.
- 57:19Draft. Yeah, Well, Ken O'Brien was a
- 57:21good quarterback. He.
- 57:22Wasn't. Over over Dan Marina.
- 57:24No, but he was a good quarterback.
- 57:26He wasn't bad. It's a it's a famous story.
- 57:28You're looking ones that are worst players.
- 57:30A lot of people could have went with Dan Marina.
- 57:33Sanchez is on there. No, Mark Sanchez is up.
- 57:36There it took him to back-to-back AFC title games I.
- 57:38Wouldn't say yeah. The Buck fumble.
- 57:39All right, so Errol, that's my vote.
- 57:42Let's go to Jabba. Because the delivery, if you
- 57:45didn't know you, the delivery was fantastic.
- 57:49Like I couldn't stop laughing. I mean, it was it was like if
- 57:54you didn't, if you didn't and damn you.
- 57:56He was like, I don't know this goody guy, but but I like him
- 57:59like I'm sitting here because usually it's off the rail stuff
- 58:03and you. Literally I was like.
- 58:06If I've never listened to this show and never listened to you,
- 58:08like this is one of the smartest human beings I've ever because
- 58:12it flowed so good. And you didn't make it look like
- 58:15you, but knowing you, that was unbelievable.
- 58:18But Errol. Yeah.
- 58:19Oh. My God that's 2 long bones.
- 58:23All right, Speedy, finish it off.
- 58:25I. Do love the presentation, that
- 58:27was easily the best. Presentation King.
- 58:29Of the Hill history I will. I'm the king, I'm the king.
- 58:32I don't care if he's the king, I'm the.
- 58:34King, you are the king of the presentation of your answers.
- 58:38That was truly remarkable, Errol.
- 58:41Definitely for the player, so. Who's the last guy you said,
- 58:44Looking this guy up, I don't even know who he is.
- 58:47Christian. Hacker actually would have
- 58:48probably been the. Challenge you.
- 58:49Challenge him. Yeah.
- 58:52Christian Hackenberg probably would have been my first pick
- 58:54though. Like of other thing, the only
- 58:56one that I didn't hear Fish you brought up.
- 58:58You brought up Ken O'Brien. The only one I was going to say
- 59:00to possibly would have been D Milner as well, who I fell for,
- 59:03who I thought was going to be good too at the time.
- 59:05All of it in the 2013 draft. He probably would have been my
- 59:08other one. How about the Louisville
- 59:09Slugger? Remember him?
- 59:11Louisville. Safety.
- 59:15Wire you're talking about, Yeah, Yeah, again, I think he was
- 59:17probably he was not not a great player, obviously.
- 59:20I don't think he was as low of a low as.
- 59:22We had we had one. We have had a guy on a show that
- 59:25was a high draft pick for The Jets.
- 59:26He wasn't really good. Yeah, I was going to include him
- 59:29though, because he's been a good guy to have on the show.
- 59:32You're you're. You're.
- 59:32You're. You're don't.
- 59:35Worry we'll get him back on the show when Travis Hunter gets his
- 59:37first career reception. Remember love, Quinton.
- 59:39Couples but. He was never going to, I was, I
- 59:42was never going to include Quinton couples and that.
- 59:45Love you. I love you, Q.
- 59:49Although D Milner says that Goody's the king there, he's
- 59:52not. You can cut the music.
- 59:54Errol stays the king. Can I get another week?
- 59:57Yeah, because I would have. King of the Hill.
- 59:59I probably would have went Hackenberg, then Goldston and
- 1:00:01then D Milner was my three that I was thinking, but Brady?
- 1:00:03Was good, that's why. You were in the second round and
- 1:00:05that was the king. Because you're the king of the
- 1:00:08presentations. I am not mad.
- 1:00:10You made it over me. I It is rigged, Jake.
- 1:00:13I know it. This game is rigged.
- 1:00:15I get out of here. What is Jake smoking all?
- 1:00:19Right. I never said it had to be a fair
- 1:00:21last round for the King like. No, I thought that was.
- 1:00:25I didn't think As soon as you told me that, I knew.
- 1:00:27Good. He could look it all up.
- 1:00:29There's no way he's beating me. I knew it ran away.
- 1:00:32I'm good. I think I know that jets a
- 1:00:35little bit better than you. Thank you to all the fans tuning
- 1:00:40in to us and and downloading a show on Apple and Spotify audio
- 1:00:46over 130,000 over the last I would say the last month.
- 1:00:50Thank you to all the TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, all, all
- 1:00:55the different sectors, YouTube, Spotify, Apple video, all the
- 1:01:00guys, all the girls, all the gals following us on all the
- 1:01:03social media markets and and all the different platforms that
- 1:01:06we're on Odyssey too. Odyssey we're doing pretty well
- 1:01:09too. I just want to give a shout out
- 1:01:10to them and Odyssey letting us post our show on their network.
- 1:01:13Yeah, we'll be back on Wednesday.
- 1:01:15Spudo we have on. All right, joining the show
- 1:01:17again for the first time in a couple of years, 8:45 will be
- 1:01:20our friend Bashar Breeland, former Commanders, Chiefs,
- 1:01:22Vikings cornerback at 8:45. And then to be determined on
- 1:01:25time is our friend, Mr. Jim Lehrer.
- 1:01:27I want to say something. Bashar Breeland, the last time
- 1:01:30he was on a show, I had to get a lot out of him, and it took a
- 1:01:34while to get him open. And then two weeks after we
- 1:01:37interviewed him, he was arrested.
- 1:01:39For what? What did?
- 1:01:41He, Jeff, told us at the time you had some kind of something
- 1:01:44kind of drug arrest. He got a drug arrest.
- 1:01:46He had like a machine gun. He was caught with a machine gun
- 1:01:48and, and, and we read the story. It was absolutely crazy and and
- 1:01:52Breeland was fantastic on the show.
- 1:01:54I remember, I remember that was at the time the Giants ate a lot
- 1:01:57of corners. I was trying to recruit him to
- 1:01:58come to the Giants. Yeah.
- 1:01:59So and then and then Pete, Pete Burstick, we had on.
- 1:02:02Like, perfect for the Giants because you had time.
- 1:02:04Yes. No, you know why it would have
- 1:02:05been perfect? Because you had another guy
- 1:02:07that, you know, had had a dead body in his basement.
- 1:02:10Because of his good old brother, Jack Rabbit.
- 1:02:12Yeah, the Jack Rabbit. Remember that story?
- 1:02:15Yeah, that was crazy. He had a couple of good years.
- 1:02:18He was pretty good in coverage. Yeah, so was, so was.
- 1:02:21I'd cover ups apparently too. I said he was good.
- 1:02:26They his brother wrapped the dead body in his basement and
- 1:02:28put it in the corner. Nobody saw it.
- 1:02:30Nobody saw a dead body in the corner.
- 1:02:32These things happen. Yeah, I'm sure it does.
- 1:02:34He was definitely jumping over it, If you know what I.
- 1:02:37Mean well, they happen, yeah. Definitely hiding a dead body
- 1:02:40for a week or two in his basement.
- 1:02:42How do you not smell it? Yeah, I, I figure.
- 1:02:46Anyways, thank you to all the fans.
- 1:02:47And again, we'll be back on Wednesday.
- 1:02:49It was a great show. Speedy, do you have anything?
- 1:02:53You have anything? Give us a funny, Funny.
- 1:02:54Ending Goody goody wrapping up spit.
- 1:02:57It out, but maybe that go ahead something.
- 1:03:00No, because you're gibbering and jabbering.
- 1:03:03Goody, Are you sure that dead body wasn't Eli Apple's giant's
- 1:03:05career? Figure as long as she's using
- 1:03:08dude wipes and taking care of my 2 hole I'm good.
- 1:03:10All right, goodnight. Farewell.
- 1:03:11We're gone. It's.
- 1:03:13The Worldwide sports Radio network.
- 1:03:17This makes my pecker hard.
