- 0:39But hey, good news.
- 0:40I'm back on YouTube.
- 0:42I was a bad boy.
- 0:44I violated community standards about a week and a half ago, and you heard that story in
- 0:49another podcast.
- 0:50I think the one I did with JB Hicks.
- 0:51And actually, he interviewed me, but anyway, we talked about that.
- 0:55So I'm back, but I'm on Rumble.
- 1:01So you can get World View Matters there as well on Freedom Projects Rumble channel.
- 1:06And I do want to encourage you to subscribe to both Rumble channels, Freedom Project and
- 1:12mine.

- 1:15The viewership is, you know, slowly, but surely it's increasing monthly.
- 1:19So just thank you.
- 1:20We'll use whatever platform we need to get these podcasts out with great information
- 1:27and all from the biblical world view.
- 1:29So I'm very thankful to have a brother that for on for the first time and to share his
- 1:35amazing story.
- 1:36He would consider himself a satanist that has been saved by the grace of Jesus Christ.
- 1:43And he was even involved in the LGBTQ and there's so much in this man's story.
- 1:48So Mason Skags of Sovereign Fire Studios and he's got a podcast, he's got a YouTube
- 1:55channel.
- 1:56There it is right there.
- 1:57Check that out.
- 1:58He's on Instagram and other outlets as well, but you can get more information on Mason.
- 2:02And you're going to hear his story and get ready.
- 2:04But this is going to be very informative for people with kids or, you know, young people
- 2:09get wrapped up into music and other things that lead them down the wrong path.
- 2:12So listen to these details in this testimony, Mason.
- 2:15Good to see you, brother.
- 2:16Thanks for coming on World View Matters.
- 2:18David, thanks so much for having me on.
- 2:20It's an honor and a pleasure.
- 2:22Thanks for the introduction.
- 2:23Yeah, no problem, brother.
- 2:25And I'm excited to really share.
- 2:29I know you can look back now and go, wow, thank God he brought me through.
- 2:35He had his hand on your life and now he's using you big time and I know the enemy hates
- 2:41what you're doing.
- 2:42So that's, that's a bad honor.
- 2:44So it is, so Mason, you're from Kansas City, Missouri, tell us about when you were growing
- 2:50up because your story is, it's a radical, one of those radical testimonies that you just
- 2:56want kind of rebelling and doing your own thing and living, living for the world a little
- 3:00bit.
- 3:01You were all in on rebellion against God and you knew it.
- 3:05And that's one of the fascinating parts of your story that you knew about God and you
- 3:10knew you were pursuing Satanism.
- 3:12So let's go back to you come from a family of 12 and when you were young, go back there
- 3:18and just we'll, we'll walk people through this.
- 3:20Yes.
- 3:21Okay.
- 3:22So you're right.
- 3:23I came from a really big family.
- 3:25Whenever there was just nine of us, my mom, she, she got cancer, was diagnosed with cancer.
- 3:33And at the time we were attending a, it was a, a Pentecostal church that at one point
- 3:38may have been a gospel preaching, you know, Bible believing gospel preaching Pentecostal
- 3:42church.
- 3:43I have love for all denominations within biblical orthodoxy and within, you know, the,
- 3:48that uphold biblical standards.
- 3:51But this, this church did devolve into cult like tactics and practices, including intimidation
- 3:58and isolating themselves, including themselves.
- 4:02And so, and there was a sexual predator who was running rampant in the church, hellfire
- 4:09and brimstone every week, three times a week, baby, because we were there for, we were
- 4:14there every day.
- 4:15I mean, three times a week at least.
- 4:17And it was the only people that we knew.
- 4:19So I, it was a faith healing culture where a lot of the, the impetus or the, the, the,
- 4:26the weight is on the person who's seeking healing or the people who are healing in order
- 4:32to be healed.
- 4:33You know, that's, that's where all of the focus is is, do you have enough belief?
- 4:38And, and so as a child, I, I watched our community gather around my mom and people prophesy
- 4:45over her and say that she was going to be healed if we had enough faith.
- 4:49And then I put, you know, I put my faith in God for that as well, but she, she did die.
- 4:54And it happened pretty, pretty quickly.
- 4:57And so that started my confusion and anger at God, whether there was, I, that, that sexual
- 5:07predator, I mentioned that was running rampant, he, he abused a lot of, of people.
- 5:14His, his entire family was affected by it.
- 5:17Most of my family, I was so young that if something traumatic had happened to me, I actually
- 5:22wouldn't remember it.
- 5:24So, but, but things that I may share later on lead me to believe I wasn't included in,
- 5:29in, in some of that abuse.
- 5:31Well, Mason, let's go back to, you were four years old when your mom died.
- 5:36Yeah, about four and a half.
- 5:37Yeah.
- 5:38Okay.
- 5:39So let's talk about the, the theology behind the, the name it claim, the, the faith healing
- 5:45word faith.
- 5:46Yeah.
- 5:47What did you pick up as a four year old, um, and, and your mom died, you know, you, you,
- 5:54people around you were praying and, uh, just, do you, what do you remember?
- 5:58And what can you connect the dots about now?
- 6:02Well, it's, you know, memory, change over time as I've been able to connect more dots,
- 6:08but I, I distinctly remember a crowd of people gathering around my mom, her, you know,
- 6:14weeping up, uplifted hands and this, you know, that, that something great was happening.
- 6:20And I had all my excitement and energy about, I got us healing my mom right now because
- 6:25this is, there's so much, uh, there was so much hype and, uh, fluff, you know, to it.
- 6:34And these people were earnest.
- 6:35I mean, they really believed God was doing something, um, and I, I don't poo poo the gifts,
- 6:41you know, I, I, I love the spiritual gifts.
- 6:43I'm, I, I am, I would consider myself to like, still, uh, to still pursue those things.
- 6:49But, but the way you do that, cessationist or continuationist matters a lot.
- 6:54And the theology, the theology of suffering was nonexistent.
- 6:58And for, maybe if that's the first time someone's hearing theology of suffering,
- 7:02basically, that's, that's how you deal with grief and sorrow and loss in light of who God is.
- 7:09Like the problem of evil, if God is all good, how can there be suffering and death?
- 7:16And there was, I wasn't equipped from, uh, from a young age and I, I certainly wasn't equipped
- 7:22after that to, to know how to deal with that loss.
- 7:25And so I, I retreated into coping skills that were the most, uh, unsavory type.
- 7:33And we're going to go there next, actually, in a minute, everyone who's watching and listening
- 7:38right now, almost everyone has lost a loved one or lost someone that they care about, um,
- 7:45your circumstances were very interesting and a lot of people have come from that background.
- 7:49The word faith where they were very disappointed.
- 7:52They had expectations and this was all built up.
- 7:54And then when it didn't happen, the way people were praying, you fall away or you get angry at God.
- 8:00So that's very understandable that you, if it's such a young age, you're angry at God,
- 8:06especially when people were, you know, saying, hey, your mom's going to be healed.
- 8:10I can relate to a couple of stories in my own life.
- 8:13We lived in Southern California for a while.
- 8:14People were saying a certain thing, kind of prophesying without saying it's a prophecy.
- 8:20And sometimes it's just friends, we need to be very careful.
- 8:24What we speak over other people, what we share, um, don't say the say at the Lord,
- 8:31don't say, hey, this is from God, you know, let God be sovereign over things.
- 8:35Keep praying.
- 8:35That's right.
- 8:36Keep the faith, keep praying.
- 8:37God does heal sometimes, but oftentimes he does not go to a, a cancer
- 8:43word, go to a children's hospital, go to, you know what I mean, there, there's a lot of cases
- 8:46where God does not heal, but he is the same God.
- 8:49So before we move on, do you want to comment on that at all Mason?
- 8:53Yeah, I think that's worth, you know, hitting again and again in this day and age,
- 8:57because there is so much suffering that so many people have loved ones that have
- 9:01wandered from the faith or children who are prodigal.
- 9:04And if there's a difference between belief in God's character, that he is powerful,
- 9:11that he's good, that he's sovereign over every situation.
- 9:14There's nothing outside of his reach.
- 9:16And he can do anything and praying in accordance with that.
- 9:19Like God, I know this to be who you are.
- 9:22I know what it says in your word.
- 9:24And I believe you can do it today versus this is what I want.
- 9:28This is what I expect.
- 9:30And if this doesn't happen, I'm out.
- 9:33And I like, you have to have a category for, you don't want to, you don't want to set
- 9:39your prayers up to flop like you don't want to pray over somebody who's sick.
- 9:43God, if it's there, if it's your will for this person to die right now, that's great.
- 9:48You know, I guess keep an expectation for God to do amazing things, but to tell someone
- 9:54that that's going to happen, you, you are not equipping them for the eventuality that they,
- 10:00you know, that everyone's going to die for sure.
- 10:02Everybody who Jesus healed eventually died.
- 10:04And it's just for Christians, it's, it's just a movement from one location to the next.
- 10:10It's not, it's, it's a glorious thing to enter into Christ's presence.
- 10:15Amen.
- 10:15Amen.
- 10:16We forget about that.
- 10:17We put so much stock in this life, you know, let God be God.
- 10:21He is sovereign and that's why I like to name sovereign fire studios that you have.
- 10:27I'm so talk about how you then got into occult music and drugs.
- 10:33So you're very young.
- 10:34What happened when you were five, six, seven, eight, you occult music.
- 10:40A lot of people can relate to music being such an attraction, such a lure.
- 10:44Just share that part of your story.
- 10:46Absolutely.
- 10:47Yeah, David, thanks for for sparking those memories.
- 10:50So I remember from the time I was in that Pentecostal, what became a cult atmosphere,
- 10:56they played a movie about rock and roll.
- 11:00And there was this, like how it was of the devil.
- 11:03And there was this sweaty, I think it was like, I don't remember who it was,
- 11:07but he was sweaty banging on the piano, you know, probably on drugs.
- 11:11And I was enamored with that guy.
- 11:12I was like, he looks like he's having a real heck of a time.
- 11:16And so I can remember from an early age music, just it got me.
- 11:21And that's how it is for, for most people, music bypasses the frontal cortex,
- 11:27where all decisions are made like your irrational, you can reason and weigh things.
- 11:32It bypasses that and slips in messages.
- 11:35So the question is like, what messages, what are you consuming?
- 11:40And what I was consuming from the time I was, I was maybe seven or eight was really,
- 11:47you know, if you look at the most popular artists today,
- 11:50the ones who really get clout and fame and fortune are those who glorify violence,
- 11:57hypersexuality, the LGBTQ agenda, those who, that's really huge now.
- 12:04By the way, the LGBTQ agenda is like, you have to worship that golden calf
- 12:08in order to make it in the music industry almost.
- 12:11But the people I was listening to, I mean, everything from Led Zeppelin,
- 12:16glorifying the occult, kind of mystifying and there was an enchantment about rock and roll
- 12:23and that that was kind of unmatched for me.
- 12:26So it started out with like, you know, classic rock, the Beatles, kind of the LSD,
- 12:33psychedelic kind of bands.
- 12:35And then that culture shifted into alt rock and indie rock.
- 12:40And it's still alive today through like MGMT and the neon trees, etc.
- 12:46Imagine dragons, kinds of boroughs, kind of boroughs from that cold play,
- 12:50even borrow some of the psychedelic imagery and that kind of thing, but they're lesser on
- 12:55the lyrics. But without getting into all of the names, I consumed a huge body of music.
- 13:02And that was where I went to escape these feelings of just desperation.
- 13:10I was totally devoid of hope.
- 13:14I hated God. I was, I feared him.
- 13:16I knew he was real, but I didn't believe him to be the God that we see revealed in like Psalm 103
- 13:22or in Exodus when he says, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger,
- 13:28a bounding and steadfast love, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving inequity,
- 13:33transgressions and sins. I only knew the half, the latter part of that, you know,
- 13:38who will buy no means clear the guilty.
- 13:41That's who I knew, like the the fierce judge wrathful and I just felt like he was breathing
- 13:47down my neck, waiting for me to screw up. And so that was my experience with God and to escape
- 13:54those feelings. I had an instance of sexual abuse later on in my life in kindergarten when I
- 14:00entered when I entered public school the year my mom died. And I should mention this when my
- 14:06mother passed away my dad descended into into grief and into just serve. He was in survival mode,
- 14:12like totally lost in alcoholism and grief. So so the unspoken rule of our house David was like
- 14:21just keep yourself suffering in your grief inside. Don't let it rub off on other people.
- 14:26Don't mention mom. We never talked about my mom. And so that left me with these,
- 14:34you know, experimenting sexually with homosexuality, experimenting with music and eventually drugs.
- 14:42When I first tried hot vodka out of a back of my dad's car, I was like, this is what I want to do
- 14:48all the time. This is the this is the escape. So what is that? What is hot vodka? Is that a drink?
- 14:54It was warm. No, it was like it was hot because it was the summer. And it was just vodka
- 14:59straight out of the back of his truck and it was disgusting. But I I thought it was a drug
- 15:04or something like that. Anyway, we're going to take a pause with Mason Skegs. But before we do
- 15:08that, I want to shout out to good fight ministries, our friends Joe Shimmel and Chad Davison,
- 15:14goodfight.org. Joe came out with a series many decades ago called they sold their souls
- 15:20for rock and roll that talks about the occultism and the Satanism behind a lot of music even
- 15:26today's stars that sadly a lot of Christians still listen to. So we're talking with Mason. When
- 15:32we come back, I'm going to ask him, he said he knew enough about the Bible to know he was following
- 15:40Satan. So he knew that. And also he said he was discipled. He used that word, discipled by internet
- 15:48porn. So those two things will ask him about that to explain when we come back on world view

- 17:15We may have some great news for you, hopefully, in the next couple of weeks. We're back with
- 17:20Mason Escagg's Sovereign Fire Studios on YouTube and other platforms. Let's go back to
- 17:28when you were, before this, before you were even 10 years old, Mason, and you said you were
- 17:32discipled by an internet porn. I'm guessing you weren't talking about your pain in your in your
- 17:39home. I'm sure you weren't opening up to your friends about it. You were dealing with a lot
- 17:44internalizing a lot. Music was an outlet. Pornography became an outlet. Share what happened.
- 17:51Yeah. So I was, it started out with like innocent internet searches just about the anatomy
- 17:58and, you know, of the, of the human body. And I was always fascinated with girls, but I reached
- 18:03an age where I wanted to know more. And I had seen in a popular movie, first of all, so watch
- 18:10what your kids are watching. Yeah. Like if you wouldn't watch it, don't let your kids watch it.
- 18:14Of course, but I was watching some age inappropriate content at a friend's house. And I took an
- 18:21interest and it started out with those simple searches. And, and I was fast-tracked to the very
- 18:26worst, like the gutter of the internet. This was when the internet was less regulated. So I saw
- 18:33everything, the most violent, violent things that you can imagine. I was exposed to as my first,
- 18:38like that was my experience of what sex was. And so I, my message that one, a big part of the
- 18:46message that I want to get out after being in, you know, recovery from sexual addiction for four
- 18:51and a half years now, I want to get people, I want to get parents awake to the fact that if you're
- 18:56not the expert, if you don't come to your kids as the expert on sexual things, if you don't make
- 19:01yourself available for all the questions that are that they're going to have, someone else will
- 19:06get to them and whoever gets to them first becomes the expert. They're going to disciple your kids.
- 19:11And the internet discipled me very quickly. I saw homosexual pornography. I saw all all types of
- 19:17pornography and it shaped my sexuality. It's it's shaped what I craved because that that the
- 19:25initial trauma becomes like the the bar for where or what you're looking for. That's actually,
- 19:32you know, scientifically proven that that that, you know, whatever is most shocking, that raises your
- 19:39tolerance. So as time went on, pornography and drugs became really when inner trying inner
- 19:45twined with me, I was taking prescription drugs from from friends at school and taking
- 19:52Adderall and basically government prescribed methamphetamine is what I would call it staying up
- 19:59for nights at a time and just spiraling in sexual immorality and depravity and and that linked
- 20:05arms with the occult eventually. Okay, we the next part. So I'm sure there's there's many, many more
- 20:11details that we don't have time to get into. By the way, are you ever think about writing your
- 20:17testimony down, putting out a blog, writing a little book or something? Have you ever thought about that?
- 20:22Yeah, I have. I just released a video actually yesterday that is trending well on my channel.
- 20:27It's actually it's called gay satanist od's then this happens. It's the first one that I
- 20:34that I've released. It's it's it's a more thorough testimony and so people can check that out.
- 20:38Okay, so that was my next question. What was your lowest moment? And I'm guessing it was the overdose.
- 20:45Go ahead and share that. Yeah, you would think it would be. I mean, I had got into hallucinogens and
- 20:50heroin, methamphetamine was selling cocaine, doing blood blood magic rituals and I started consciously
- 20:58serving the devil because I just thought I was too far gone, too hopeless and I might as well.
- 21:04I was in a band. I wanted success with that. And so I thought I could fast track it by just
- 21:10worshiping the the prince of darkness himself and that I would get fame and unfortunate significance
- 21:15that way. And so I went headfirst into that and eventually I ended up having an overdose where I
- 21:23I took too much of a sedative and I was walking it got in an uber was taken at home and I I started
- 21:31to say a few words and took a bite of a candy bar and then just was gone. Nothing like no warning.
- 21:38I had had overdoses in the past where there was time for me to scramble and think about my life.
- 21:42This was just blackness. And so I head back through up and inhaled it as fixated and by the grace
- 21:51of God by his providence and his sovereign kindness, he he had the uber driver take me to the place
- 21:57that he was supposed to and called the ambulance to meet us there and they pumped my lungs. They
- 22:03were able to save my life. My dad gave me an ultimatum David in the hospital. He's like, I will pay
- 22:09for rehab again because I by this time I'd been arrested four times. I'd gone to rehab three times.
- 22:14But he was like, I'll pay for rehab if you go out of state but Mason like, this is it. This is
- 22:20this is it. But I was I was not at rock bottom when I got out of the hospital. I was doing drugs
- 22:25that day, crying my eyes out like I just can't stop. Yeah. Wow. So really quick. I'm curious. Did
- 22:33you ever get a hold of the uber driver to maybe thank him? There was no way for me. They,
- 22:39they make it where you can't you you're not like you bait. I couldn't get back in contact with
- 22:44them. But I if he if he sees this man, thank you. Or if you're an angel, I don't know. Yeah. God
- 22:50used him to save your life. So let's talk about what brought you to Christ. How were you then
- 22:55after all this? After you were thought even yourself, you were so far gone. You were hopeless.
- 23:01How did this happen? How did who led you to Christ? How did you come to the Lord Jesus Christ
- 23:06and be saved? Yes. I was in willful rejection of what I knew about God. Like Ephesians 2 says we
- 23:13all are. I mean, even in the Psalms, it talks about how the the heavens declared the glory of God.
- 23:19God has made manifest to man. Now, there's his attributes are made manifest to us through creation.
- 23:26And so I knew God. I hated what I knew about God. And I couldn't love him. I was incapable of
- 23:34honoring him or loving him. And so I went to this rehab. My dad sent me to I was incredibly demonized
- 23:41hearing voices. I mean, I had by this time I had done blood rituals, drank blood, signed my name
- 23:47and blood. And so I left there early and got back in the band. The band was having mild local
- 23:55success. And I met a girl as often God uses God uses the opposite sex. I met a girl that I
- 24:03fell in love with. And around that time, God started showing me how just truly how destructive I
- 24:13was and how lost and hopeless I was. I started seeing the cycles that I had been going through all
- 24:18my life. And I was I started to become dissatisfied with living in the muck. And but I still didn't
- 24:27love God. I was still practicing new age, you know, manifestation and these these magical practices.
- 24:34And my the woman who's now my wife, the girlfriend at the time, would send me sermons and
- 24:40Bible verses every once in a while. She was her Christian. Oh, really?
- 24:44Even a Christian. No, she just thought she thought maybe this will help this guy. He's really off
- 24:49the rails. And it over time I knew enough of the gospel where there was a moment when I was at work
- 24:56everyone else was gone. And I had been searching how to be free from addiction, how to be like
- 25:02changed. And I found a bunch of hyper charismatic nonsense. No, no true help on the internet. So I
- 25:08pushed the keyboard away. I put my head in my hands and I I just like started to pray earnestly.
- 25:13And I felt God's love, his justice, his holiness. But I felt his hit the humility of Jesus,
- 25:20like kneeling to me to want to help me. I felt as like he wanted me and was willing to wipe away
- 25:26my sins. And so I prayed something like God, I believe you exist. I believe that you can change me.
- 25:33But if you want me, I'll give you all of who I am. You have to do all the work. You have to do
- 25:38everything. Like I'll I'll give you myself. And you have you have to change me like
- 25:43make me and remake me. And that's that he kept his promise. He forgave my sins. He gave me
- 25:49the righteousness of Christ. And that started me down the journey to recovery. Wow. And now you've
- 25:54learned both sides of God, you know, the righteousness and the love and the compassion. And now the
- 26:02you know, the judgment and the truth and the, you know, the well, that we need to repent. But God
- 26:07is so balanced in his character. He's so perfect. And I know you've learned that briefly,
- 26:13less than two minutes, where are you at? What are your plans? What if you mentioned seminary?
- 26:18Yeah. Yeah. So I go to Midwestern Baptist, theological seminary. And I serve full time or in
- 26:25my church right now as the director of musical worship at Emmaus church in Kansas City.
- 26:31I lead a men's group pursuing a sexual sobriety, sexual health and and holiness. And then I lead a
- 26:38community group. But my goal is to reach more young people that were like I was or that are like I
- 26:44was and just make an impact for the gospel. There's so much occultism and new age and and brokenness
- 26:52out there. So I just pray that God uses me in those ways. He is. He is brother. I'm a son of
- 26:58Skags. You've got an amazing, powerful, impactful story. And your life is an example of how he can
- 27:05turn anyone around and draw anyone to him. So friends, I encourage you right now to pray for Mason
- 27:14and his wife is family protection. God's provision, direction, but especially protection over his
- 27:20life as he exalts the Lord Jesus Christ and glorifies him and shares what he has done in Mason's
- 27:26life. Great transformation. That's why I wanted to have you on when you contacted me. I read your
- 27:31story. I'm going, wow. Yes. Let's get you scheduled. So thank you brother. Lord willing,
- 27:37we'll do this again. We'll keep in touch with you and we'll connect you with some other people
- 27:41too. Your story needs to get out there. So thanks for all you're doing and continue to may he
- 27:46enlarge your territory. And God bless you brother. Thanks for your time. Thank you brother, David.
