- 2:03Speaker 1: Good morning everybody you are listening to the voice, Come
- 2:07Speaker 1: on dig me now. One and only Steve Harvey Man
- 2:11Speaker 1: got a radio show, borl bor Oh boy. I can't
- 2:16Speaker 1: even tell you man. I've been doing some thinking and
- 2:22Speaker 1: and one of the things that I wanted to mention
- 2:25Speaker 1: today to you as one of the principles of success,
- 2:30Speaker 1: being grateful at all times is difficult to do. Being
- 2:38Speaker 1: grateful at all times is very difficult to do. I
- 2:45Speaker 1: find that to be true with myself. Now there are
- 2:48Speaker 1: others that might be able to do it, but just
- 2:51Speaker 1: from talking and listening and living and learning, being grateful
- 2:56Speaker 1: at all times is difficult to do. But it's not
- 3:00Speaker 1: necessary because it's such an act of faith in knowing
- 3:06Speaker 1: that no matter what's going on, it's going to be alright.
- 3:11Speaker 1: And it's hard to see that when things are not
- 3:15Speaker 1: going in your favor, when things have turned so dramatically
- 3:21Speaker 1: the other way, and it seems as though you're the
- 3:24Speaker 1: only one in the situation where you're involved with other people,
- 3:28Speaker 1: or someone got an accusation against you falsely, or somebody
- 3:32Speaker 1: trying to do something to you unjustifiably, whatever the case
- 3:35Speaker 1: may be, when it's happening to you, it does appear
- 3:40Speaker 1: to you that, oh, my goodness, man, this is horribly
- 3:45Speaker 1: one sided. So it is difficult. It's hard to do
- 3:50Speaker 1: to be grateful at all times, but it's so necessary.
- 3:54Speaker 1: And I just want to point out a couple of
- 3:56Speaker 1: things to you. First of all, the difficulty in being
- 4:01Speaker 1: grateful in hard times is that number one, the present circumstances.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Oftentimes it's just so pressing and so overwhelming that a
- 4:13Speaker 1: lot of your energy is devoted to trying to come
- 4:16Speaker 1: up with the solution for that, or trying to muster
- 4:19Speaker 1: the strength to whether the storm, or trying to just
- 4:22Speaker 1: brace yourself to try to get through it, and in
- 4:26Speaker 1: doing that, you don't It's hard to be grateful. It's
- 4:31Speaker 1: hard to be grateful in pain, and I know it is.
- 4:35Speaker 1: But here is the trick for me. This is what
- 4:39Speaker 1: I've had to learn how to do, and I guess
- 4:43Speaker 1: it takes practice to get here. It's not nothing you
- 4:46Speaker 1: just start doing right away. You got to practice it
- 4:48Speaker 1: in small increments to really get it. What I've always
- 4:52Speaker 1: had to say to myself and what I've learned to
- 4:54Speaker 1: say to myself is this is happening to me because
- 4:59Speaker 1: God is working me through something. This is happening to
- 5:03Speaker 1: me because it's some form of tests that I have
- 5:07Speaker 1: to pass in order to graduate to the next grade,
- 5:11Speaker 1: and that in order to be allowed to move to
- 5:13Speaker 1: the next level. This is happening to me because there's
- 5:18Speaker 1: something I need to purge my life, of my body,
- 5:22Speaker 1: of my spirit, of something's purging in me. And when
- 5:26Speaker 1: you purge something, it's it's painful. You know, It's like
- 5:30Speaker 1: a person getting off drugs. The withdrawal is agonizing. I've
- 5:36Speaker 1: been told and every documentary I've ever watched it it's
- 5:39Speaker 1: an agonizing process to go cold turkey, to withdraw, to
- 5:44Speaker 1: pull away after you've been doing something so long. And
- 5:48Speaker 1: so I know that this process is tough when you're
- 5:54Speaker 1: going through some pain, but when you're purging your system,
- 5:59Speaker 1: when you when you're having to pass a test, when
- 6:02Speaker 1: you're about to make when you're being made ready for
- 6:07Speaker 1: the next level, that moment right in there, in realizing
- 6:12Speaker 1: that that's what's happening, that's where you find the gratitude.
- 6:15Speaker 1: That's where I found the gratitude. I hope I'm explaining
- 6:19Speaker 1: this correctly. I'm gonna keep trying until I get it.
- 6:21Speaker 1: But that's where you find the gratitude. The second part
- 6:27Speaker 1: of it is is that God has never left me
- 6:32Speaker 1: in all the things I've done, in all the mistakes
- 6:36Speaker 1: I've made, all the lies I've told, all the situations
- 6:40Speaker 1: I've gotten myself into, from being greedy and wanting too
- 6:44Speaker 1: much for me at the expense sometimes of other people,
- 6:52Speaker 1: not doing it deliberately or in a vindictive way, because
- 6:57Speaker 1: I've never had that spirit. I'm not a vindictive or
- 7:00Speaker 1: mean person, but sometimes in my life, in wanting to
- 7:05Speaker 1: do what I wanted to do, I didn't totally weigh
- 7:09Speaker 1: out the cause and effect of the other person. I mean,
- 7:12Speaker 1: can I just be real with you with that? I mean,
- 7:15Speaker 1: how many times we done all done that? Look, it
- 7:17Speaker 1: doesn't it don't make you a bad person. You know,
- 7:21Speaker 1: good people do bad things all the time. I just
- 7:24Speaker 1: happened to have come to the realization that unknowingly and
- 7:30Speaker 1: and not and not with malice intent towards a person.
- 7:37Speaker 1: I've hurt people looking at something I wanted to do
- 7:41Speaker 1: without really looking at what the cause and effect would
- 7:45Speaker 1: be on the other person. So in doing some of
- 7:49Speaker 1: these things, I've created situations for myself. But God, through
- 7:53Speaker 1: his grace and mercy, has allowed me to even get
- 7:57Speaker 1: beyond that. So when I'm saying that God has never
- 8:00Speaker 1: left me in spite of myself, He's always gotten me through.
- 8:05Speaker 1: So that's the other part of it too. See that
- 8:08Speaker 1: no matter what you're going through, you've got to understand
- 8:11Speaker 1: that God has always gotten you through it now has
- 8:14Speaker 1: any Now it may not be the way you want
- 8:16Speaker 1: it or the way you liked, but guess what, you
- 8:19Speaker 1: can't do wrong and not pay for that. Now that
- 8:22Speaker 1: that's not how this works, that's never going to be
- 8:24Speaker 1: the case. But the great thing about God is he
- 8:27Speaker 1: fires warning shots at us all the time. He gives
- 8:30Speaker 1: us an opportunity to stop. You know, He don't fully
- 8:33Speaker 1: punish us right away every time we do something wrong.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Now does it? You know eventually you're going to get
- 8:40Speaker 1: caught doing whatever it is you're doing. You do understand that,
- 8:43Speaker 1: don't you. But the first time, that close call, that
- 8:47Speaker 1: was a warning shot for you to stop. Look, I
- 8:50Speaker 1: know you're not perfect. I know we all sinners down here,
- 8:53Speaker 1: so I know you're gonna make mistakes. One time. I
- 8:55Speaker 1: know you was looking at her when you weren't supposed to.
- 8:57Speaker 1: I know you said something to him when you wasn't
- 9:00Speaker 1: supposed to. I know you got with her when you
- 9:02Speaker 1: know you wasn't supposed to. And I know you got
- 9:05Speaker 1: with him when you know you weren't supposed to. So
- 9:07Speaker 1: I tell you what I'm gonna do. I'm a fire
- 9:09Speaker 1: warning shot, and maybe you'll slow your roll this time.
- 9:12Speaker 1: But we keep on though. See see, see that's what happens.
- 9:15Speaker 1: See we just keep on and then the next thing,
- 9:18Speaker 1: you know, we get caught. Now, Oh Lord, have mercy.
- 9:22Speaker 1: I want out of this.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Well see, you done dug this hole pretty deep, and
- 9:26Speaker 1: he gonna get you out. But it's some things that's
- 9:29Speaker 1: got to go down now because you didn't pay attention
- 9:32Speaker 1: to the warning shot. See, had you stopped the first time,
- 9:34Speaker 1: you felt bad about it and said you wasn't gonna
- 9:37Speaker 1: do it no more, the situation wouldn't be as critical,
- 9:40Speaker 1: but because we don't stop and we go again. But
- 9:43Speaker 1: God always forgives, He always allows us to get back
- 9:49Speaker 1: up again. He always gives us a mercy. He always
- 9:54Speaker 1: gives us his grace. He always does that. You're listening
- 9:58Speaker 1: to the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
- 10:00Speaker 4: Oh,
