Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville Jaguar's fans, welcome in to Dove Old Daily, presented by GNJAG.com and fueled by brass tax coffee right now at Saturday, September 12th.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_00]: We are one sleep away from the Jaguar, is taking on the Cleveland Browns in Jacksonville, one PM kick at the bank crowd of 42,500 expected to be in full force, obviously a year in which the jags are doing a lot of construction on the stadium, so be prepared for that,
- 0:30[SPEAKER_00]: keys to victory for your Jaguar is against the Cleveland Browns in week one.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_00]: This is this this one's a little different than it will normally be just because it's week one.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_00]: And because it's a team that is.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_00]: Most of the teams on the Jaguar schedule I think have a reasonable.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: chance of beating the Jaguars and the Jaguars actually having to go do very specific things in order to win that football game.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: I do not believe that is the case with the Cleveland Browns.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to be kicking it off with some very elementary stuff and then getting into some other stuff that I think like this specific game, this specific game kind of stuff.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm excited to get into it.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: First, keys to victory of the 2026 regular season for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_00]: And if you enjoy the content, it's all jacks all the time.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_00]: Please like and subscribe.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: And I'll also hit that high button.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: Let me know your number one key to victory in the comment section below.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_00]: And when I think about keys to victory, I think about literally what does this football team?
- 1:37[SPEAKER_00]: What do the jacks and mill jacks have to do to win this game?
- 1:43[SPEAKER_00]: And I honestly think that they can get away with a good amount and still win this game.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: Do not let mistakes, mentally, physically.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_00]: Like there's gonna be mistakes.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_00]: It's week one, it's the NFL, it's football.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: There's gonna be mistakes.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_00]: Do not let those mistakes be backbreakers.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_00]: If you have multiple backbreaking mistakes where you give up a special team's touchdown where you give up a coverage bus and it goes for six, where you throw an interception and it goes for six.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_00]: If you have multiple types of those plays, that will allow the Cleveland Browns to be in the football game.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_00]: I think, honestly, if you don't have those types of mistakes, where they compound and become absolute disaster class type of plays, that you will win the game.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: If you're the Jacksonville Jaguars, I honestly believe that.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_00]: Like the Browns, how our team that does have talent, I think that they will be well coached specifically on offense.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_00]: I can't speak that much to the defense aside of the ball or special teams because we have not seen those coaches do those jobs at the NFL level.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_00]: But I do think offensively they will be well-coached.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's talent on the roster.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_00]: I just think with Deshawn Watson as your quarterback.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_00]: and five new starting offensive linemen now, and two rookie wide receivers, it's gonna be difficult to beat the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_00]: I really do.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_00]: There are like mental mistakes that if you make enough of the same type of mental mistakes, that can compound into allowing your opponent to be in the game as well, like offensive linemen,
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: pre-snap.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_00]: If you have like five offensive pre-snap penalties, that can really hurt you.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_00]: You know, again, turnovers, fumbles, coverage busts.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: It's okay to have a couple of those.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: But it's not okay if those turn into six, if they're absolute disaster plays.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: Fumble's drops.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, if the Jaguars have a game where they go out and drop five footballs, that can be back breaking too.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: I think if you don't have the big back breaking plays and don't consistently beat yourself with on forced errors, that you're going to win the game.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: I really feel strongly about that.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_00]: And this is something I've been wanting to harp on, you know, most of this offseason, and I'm going to keep talking about it here today,
- 4:18[SPEAKER_00]: people that analyze football do not talk nearly enough about special teams.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_00]: And the jag wars, the Browns have good specialists too.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_00]: Like they have a good kicker and punter.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_00]: At least based on their punters been good for a long time, their kicker did well last year as well.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_00]: Special teams, the Jaguars have got to execute.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_00]: You saw in the preseason week one, they gave up a huge return on a kickoff.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: After that, I think it got a lot cleaned up.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_00]: But the Jaguars are a team that has invested a lot into special teams.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_00]: Heath Farwell, one of the best special teams coaches in football, Logan Cook, one of the best punters in football, Kim Little, one of the best kickers in football, Ross Madison, one of the best long snapers in football, Parker Washington, one of the best punter turners in football, and he is the Jaguars punter turner in this game.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_00]: you have a lot of guys that can return kicks at a high level like I don't know if it'll be basial tooting back there who it will be obviously two guys will be back could be you know a mirror of duala is a really good kicker turner basial tooting is a really good kicker turner the jag wars have got to have special teams be an asset for them and not a liability and I think it should be but that is a key to victory for me
- 5:37[SPEAKER_00]: That's going to be a key pretty much every game, and we don't have to go over it every single week.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe I'll mention it every week, but I don't know.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: But now getting into some like Brown's specific type of things.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_00]: I think if the Jaguars can get into 12 and force the Browns to play base defense,
- 5:58[SPEAKER_00]: I think that the rounds second level defenders and third level defenders are better in space, which of course, that's not a big surprise.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: But they're also just a team that I think will be a better coverage team and past defense team, then they will be against the wrong.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't think they're going to necessarily be slouches against the wrong.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_00]: But I think they're closer to the middle of the pat- like, I think the rounds have a good defense.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_00]: Again, haven't seen Mike Root and Berg coach a defense call a defense, but you can imagine some of that cover three world that he comes from is going to be a major impact.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: It's probably not going to be like the most complex defense out there, but they have a lot of talent on the defensive side of the ball.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: Last year they were like a top three past defense and closer around 10th, 12th or something like that and run defense.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_00]: So I think they're going to be better in coverage than they will against the run.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: And I think they're going to be better against wide open, spread out concepts than they are against like these, you know, pack it in, get physical, try to blow them off the ball because they're defensive line.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Jared verse can do a lot for you, right?
- 7:05[SPEAKER_00]: But, uh,
- 7:06[SPEAKER_00]: outside of Jaredverse, really when I look at the interior, you don't have the big beef in my opinion that some teams are going to have that is going to make it difficult to run in between the tackles.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: I think that running in between the tackles and trying to impose your will a little bit
- 7:25[SPEAKER_00]: is probably the best strategy against the Browns early, and it's not just running, but if you're in 12 and you can get them in some sort of base personnel, I think you can take advantage with some of your matchups as well in the passing game there.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_00]: And look, the Jaguars, they're going to be a heavy 11 personnel team.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: They just have the guys to do it.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_00]: You have three great wide receivers, plus Travis Hunter, so you want to have them out there.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_00]: And, um,
- 7:51[SPEAKER_00]: That's just, it is what it is.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_00]: But if you can get them into 12 or get into 12 early and get them into base early, I think that that will allow, and force them to respect the run from that, but also force them to respect Britain's strange, your receivers out that like, Nate Borkutcher, force them to respect that force them to think about that a little bit, get them coming down into the box a little bit, and then I think everything opens up for the offense.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_00]: But I think early on, if you go in 12 and you execute from 12 in the run game and the past game, that's gonna really open things up for your football team.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_00]: Because again, Denzel Ward is a good player.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_00]: Tyson Campbell has been a good player for the Browns.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_00]: They have very good safety play, led by Grant Delpit, right?
- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: Carson Swaychinger is one of the best young linebackers in football as a coverage player, and Quincy Williams can fly around the field too.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: I think if you just come out and try to throw the ball on those corners and safeties immediately down the field in 11 personnel, and there's no element of deception to it, of creativity to it, that's going to be difficult deal.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_00]: I really do think that.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I would think getting into 12 would probably be a good idea for them.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: And look, the jacks there are nine point favorites.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: You hope that that doesn't creep into their mindset at all and I don't think it has I think that they're well prepared for this football game And I think they're gonna handle things.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_00]: I've locked them over at at nine point favorites over at my bookie and my bookie's website Super easy to use on desktop or mobile.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_00]: There's all sorts of NFL action and
- 9:33[SPEAKER_00]: You know, beyond NFL as well, you can check it all out on my bookie.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_00]: I've personally also locked in the Jaguars to make the playoffs.

- 10:06[SPEAKER_00]: So I think I mentioned creativity a little bit just now.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_00]: There's a couple players that I think specifically give the Browns the most trouble here in the passing game.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that that's Parker Washington and Britain Strange.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: I think if you can attack matchups and
- 10:26[SPEAKER_00]: dictate matchups with those guys that you can potentially take advantage like again.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Browns have very good outside corners.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_00]: I know people don't want to hear that I about Tyson Campbell, but he's played really well for them.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_00]: Denzel Ward has perennially been one of the best corners in football.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_00]: So I think the best output for the Jag wars, again, to get things going early on.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_00]: Then I think you have the ability to start maybe taking some downfield shots to Brian Thomas Jr. Maybe you just try that early.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, but that's kind of my philosophy with this one is Parker Washington moving around the formation, Britain Strange moving around the formation.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_00]: Figuring out if you're going up against Manor Zone, movement pre-snap, movement at the snap.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_00]: These types of things are going to free these guys up, and Parker Washington and Britain strange were easily the Jaguar's most efficient receiving targets last year.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_00]: I think that they have looked like they should continue to be that this year, throughout training camp, so get those guys into good matchups and try to dictate with that early
- 11:45[SPEAKER_00]: Now look at how the Jaguar is defense.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_00]: This one's pretty elementary too, but it's what allowed some really good quarterbacks to have success against the Jaguar's last year and also some quarterbacks that aren't even really like starting caliber guys.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_00]: Do not let the Sean Watson feast on quick hitters.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_00]: Do not let the Sean Watson consistently get the ball out of his hands in two seconds and feel confident that he's going to complete the pass.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_00]: Think part of that is stopping the run, right?
- 12:13[SPEAKER_00]: If you stop the run, which the Jaguards have the best run defense and football, then it's not going to allow Dishon Watson to consistently be throwing it like four or five yards beyond the line of skirmish because he's gonna have to.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_00]: If you stop the run, he's gonna have to on third down, probably throw it seven, eight, nine yards down the field.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_00]: right?
- 12:34[SPEAKER_00]: So stopping the run at an extremely high level is very important.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_00]: And the Jaguar's run defense should be able to do that against an offensive line that features two rookies and has not started a game together.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_00]: They've got to be able to do that.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_00]: And this one is another one that kind of feels elementary, but I think it goes back to the team they're playing.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_00]: If the Jaguar score early, if they score first, if they come out and play with their hair on fire on defense, and then offensively have a dialed up early game script
- 13:10[SPEAKER_00]: that really, that really threatens the Browns and they execute that and Trevor is able to get them into the right play at the line of scrimmage after surveilling what's going on in front of him.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_00]: The Browns will not be able to keep up.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_00]: I think if the Jaguar score a touchdown first, that this game could get ugly, I really do.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: And look, it's not just me.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_00]: I think the NFL world kind of thinks that when you look at the Jaguar's being favored by so much.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_00]: When you look at everybody picking the Jaguars,
- 13:40[SPEAKER_00]: I believe in Todd Munkin, honestly, as a coach, I believe in a lot of the talent the Browns have put together.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_00]: Like I really like their young receiver core.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_00]: I like the offensive linemen they drafted and brought in.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_00]: I think their defense, top to bottom, has a lot of talent.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_00]: Jared Vers, Malik Collins, these are good football players.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_00]: Mason Graham.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_00]: I just, the Dishon Watson of it all, I can't get past it.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_00]: And I know Dishon Watson 7 and 1 against the Jaguars, but I think that's going to change.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_00]: I think that record's going to get a little bit worse when you look at Dishon Watson here on Sunday.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_00]: Those are my keys to victory.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_00]: Again, let me know your top key to victory in the comment section below.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe, you can also hit that high button.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_00]: Y'all, good one.
