- 0:20Speaker 2: So if you hear a voice that you don't recognize,
- 0:22Speaker 2: it's Alex Booth.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Yeah, there he is.
- 0:25Speaker 3: Somehow He's been here twenty minutes every time he talks
- 0:27Speaker 3: into the microphone at work.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Yeah, why set like hit the button. He's like, be
- 0:35Speaker 1: subsidizing these schools.
- 0:36Speaker 4: They probably are, I think so. I mean, maybe I
- 0:38Speaker 4: shouldn't have said it.
- 0:41Speaker 2: NFL needs to embrace tackle football at the youth level
- 0:45Speaker 2: and start promoting its participation and getting as much back
- 0:49Speaker 2: involved in tackle football.
- 0:51Speaker 1: As it is currently with flat football and of brand.
- 0:54Speaker 5: I get so frustrated watching and I'm just like, I
- 0:56Speaker 5: just want to wrap somebody up.
- 0:57Speaker 1: I can tackle him to grab a week. There's no
- 1:01Speaker 1: way to free it. Hate it.
- 1:03Speaker 6: There's been some stuff out there about how to hit,
- 1:06Speaker 6: but I feel like we don't talk enough about how.
- 1:08Speaker 1: To be hit. Yeah, Like, and there is a science
- 1:12Speaker 1: their weight against them. Yeah man. Yeah, football is the
- 1:15Speaker 1: greatest team sport ever invented.
- 1:17Speaker 2: And the you know what's required to be on a
- 1:19Speaker 2: football team helps your kid.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Immensely, immensely.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Some of the most successful people in our country played football.
- 1:26Speaker 1: This is Patriot's Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website. For deals,
- 1:31Speaker 1: buy a Toyota dot com.
- 1:35Speaker 2: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Wednesday, here
- 1:39Speaker 2: at before World Cup Boston Stadium, and the gang's all here.
- 1:44Speaker 2: It's it's Evan, it's Paul, it's Me, it's Deuce, it's
- 1:47Speaker 2: Alex and Alex in the booth. And we got here
- 1:50Speaker 2: early because we had to take a team photo for
- 1:52Speaker 2: the Patriots yearbook.
- 1:53Speaker 1: It's a photo shoot. I would say, yeah, photo shoot.
- 1:55Speaker 2: So you're gonna want to make sure you get the
- 1:57Speaker 2: Patriots yearbook this this season. Uh so you can see
- 2:01Speaker 2: us in our Patriots Unfiltered ad that's going to be
- 2:04Speaker 2: in the yearbook.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Blue Steel was out page.
- 2:09Speaker 4: The white light and I can't turn left.
- 2:13Speaker 2: So anyway, we're back here talking Patriots, talking everything else. Obviously,
- 2:19Speaker 2: we've been talking a lot of World Cup because we're
- 2:23Speaker 2: immersed in that, and I I I just want to
- 2:25Speaker 2: lead off by by giving a little bit of a
- 2:28Speaker 2: mea kopa, you know, because when this whole World Cup
- 2:33Speaker 2: thing started here. It was a pain in the ass
- 2:35Speaker 2: for us. You know, it was a lot of I
- 2:38Speaker 2: can't go here, can't go there? Got you in all
- 2:40Speaker 2: this stuff, and you know, it.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Was it was an inconvenience for all of us.
- 2:46Speaker 2: But now that I've seen the spectacle that it is
- 2:49Speaker 2: not just here but in all the other stadiums, it
- 2:51Speaker 2: makes sense. It makes sense why FIFA had to take
- 2:55Speaker 2: down every sign and why they had to be so
- 2:58Speaker 2: fussy about security and everything.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Because this is huge. This is huge. I mean, this is.
- 3:04Speaker 2: You're bringing the world to all these sixteen stadiums in Canada,
- 3:08Speaker 2: US and Mexico, and FIFA had to make sure that
- 3:13Speaker 2: it was right. And I think so far it shows
- 3:16Speaker 2: that they knew what they were doing. They knew what
- 3:18Speaker 2: they were doing. So in terms of getting it right,
- 3:22Speaker 2: I guess it's okay to be a little inconvenienced, you
- 3:26Speaker 2: know what I mean?
- 3:26Speaker 4: I would say last week.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Figured out that it's okay to be conned.
- 3:34Speaker 2: But seriously, you know, like and you know, and it's
- 3:37Speaker 2: the other thing is like, you know, everyone was so
- 3:38Speaker 2: quick and I'm not saying us, I'm talking about like
- 3:41Speaker 2: outside media.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Like so quick it's going to be disaster.
- 3:47Speaker 2: No, because they did it right, because they planned this
- 3:52Speaker 2: out years in advance, and because they were so finicky
- 3:54Speaker 2: about things, it has been fairly smooth. You know, you're
- 3:58Speaker 2: you're bringing to all these stadiums. Probably eighty percent of
- 4:01Speaker 2: the people coming have never been to the stadium before,
- 4:04Speaker 2: let alone the region. Like I would imagine most of
- 4:06Speaker 2: the people are coming to our games aren't even from
- 4:09Speaker 2: New England let alone having been to Gillette Stadium before.
- 4:13Speaker 2: So like, so they had to take special care to
- 4:17Speaker 2: make sure that, you know, things were clear, there was
- 4:20Speaker 2: public transportation and all that, and so yeah, they're doing
- 4:25Speaker 2: it right.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:26Speaker 6: Yeah, I would say to the last week, obviously, with
- 4:29Speaker 6: the our friends from Scotland being here, was as much
- 4:33Speaker 6: energy in the city as I've seen since I lived there.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Talking about economic boom. I mean, they basically drank the
- 4:40Speaker 2: town clean.
- 4:40Speaker 4: Yeah, I've never seen anything like it.
- 4:42Speaker 6: I would say, like when our sports teams are on
- 4:44Speaker 6: deep playoff runs, it's similar, but this has so much
- 4:49Speaker 6: tourists impact, where there's probably an extra fifty thousand people
- 4:53Speaker 6: in the city that wouldn't be here normally. The summer
- 4:57Speaker 6: is usually pretty you know, hopping anyways to with tourists,
- 5:00Speaker 6: but nothing like this. I mean we were out on
- 5:03Speaker 6: Friday night with the US game and then Scotland played
- 5:06Speaker 6: later in the day and like there's people just like everywhere.
- 5:10Speaker 4: You know, Union Street forget about it.
- 5:11Speaker 6: You can't even get there in Fanuel Hall, the North
- 5:15Speaker 6: end was packed, but just like partying, like not just
- 5:20Speaker 6: people physically being festive. Yeah, I mean I was telling
- 5:25Speaker 6: these guys like we were. There was a guy driving
- 5:28Speaker 6: down Hanover Street out his sun roof with the Moroccan
- 5:32Speaker 6: flag and he was waving the flag. Then there's like
- 5:35Speaker 6: people and you know, the dudes in kilts are everywhere,
- 5:37Speaker 6: the Scottish are everywhere. There's US soccer jerseys everywhere. Like
- 5:41Speaker 6: it was every single table at dinner was talking about it. Yep,
- 5:46Speaker 6: there was no other conversation going.
- 5:47Speaker 1: On about it.
- 5:48Speaker 2: And I would be remiss if I didn't also do
- 5:50Speaker 2: a shout out to our boss, you know, because a
- 5:53Speaker 2: lot of people said.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Why are they Why is he doing this? Why does
- 5:56Speaker 1: he need it?
- 5:57Speaker 2: You know, they're not making that, They're not making the
- 5:59Speaker 2: ticket revenue were you know, all the revenue from the
- 6:02Speaker 2: merchandise that's all going to FIFA. But I think Robert
- 6:06Speaker 2: Kraft's experience from ninety four bringing the World Cup here,
- 6:10Speaker 2: you know, thirty years ago, Like he knew now this
- 6:14Speaker 2: is probably thirty times even a bigger event than it
- 6:17Speaker 2: was then, and so he knew that there is some
- 6:20Speaker 2: downstream advantages.
- 6:22Speaker 1: To hosting this.
- 6:23Speaker 2: And you know, he was on the committee to get
- 6:26Speaker 2: the games in the United States, not just here.
- 6:29Speaker 1: And I think we're seeing that.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Like he even asked I heard he asked the NFL
- 6:33Speaker 2: or Go Solem suggested that, you know, someday the Patriots
- 6:36Speaker 2: would like to play a game in Scotland.
- 6:38Speaker 7: I don't think it's so that that's what everyone's saying,
- 6:40Speaker 7: like on social media and like TikTok it's like when
- 6:43Speaker 7: can we have another playdate with Scotland. So I was
- 6:45Speaker 7: going to say, like we should do a call to
- 6:47Speaker 7: action the Scottish fans in November when we go to Germany,
- 6:51Speaker 7: Like I know it's not in Scotland, but the Scottish
- 6:53Speaker 7: should come through and we can it's a train right away.
- 6:56Speaker 6: Yeah, they might be coming back there. Right now, they're
- 6:59Speaker 6: around US thirty two game against Germany's Germany Scotland here, wow,
- 7:03Speaker 6: so they might be coming back I've never, like I said,
- 7:07Speaker 6: I've never seen anything like it where the whole city
- 7:10Speaker 6: is just bumping, like it is just.
- 7:12Speaker 4: As really.
- 7:15Speaker 2: How country empty I must be.
- 7:18Speaker 8: Not even just Boston.
- 7:19Speaker 7: I think the USA in general just knocking it out
- 7:22Speaker 7: of the park hosting this World Cup. And you talk
- 7:24Speaker 7: to people that are from other countries. They didn't know
- 7:27Speaker 7: we had this like stadium infrastructure here and they're experiencing
- 7:31Speaker 7: it all for the like the first time. It's funny
- 7:34Speaker 7: because like both of my grandmothers religiously watch the news
- 7:38Speaker 7: from Spain and Portugal, and like the perception that those
- 7:42Speaker 7: like that media gives of the US is so different
- 7:46Speaker 7: than the reality. So it's like an entire continent of
- 7:48Speaker 7: people like experiencing the US for the first time and
- 7:51Speaker 7: kind of seeing how awesome it is.
- 7:52Speaker 8: And it's just.
- 7:53Speaker 7: Hilarious, like knowing like RTP is the big news station
- 7:57Speaker 7: in Portugal. It's like whatever the dots of Germany or whatever.
- 8:01Speaker 7: It's just so I love seeing just like the perception
- 8:05Speaker 7: of it. And then they're coming here and they're realizing, oh,
- 8:07Speaker 7: this place rocks, and I don't know, they're making like
- 8:10Speaker 7: me have a better appreciation for our country.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Right, you know, they the restaurants, the grocery stores, the
- 8:16Speaker 2: you know, the plentitude that the.
- 8:18Speaker 7: BUCkies that we had my favorite tweets are people going
- 8:21Speaker 7: to BUCkies.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Yeah, so it's good stuff.
- 8:24Speaker 2: So it's it is good for Gillette Stadium and the
- 8:28Speaker 2: Patriots and the United States as a whole to have
- 8:31Speaker 2: the World Cup here.
- 8:32Speaker 1: It's it's a massive event.
- 8:34Speaker 2: It's it's bigger than the Olympics, right, and it's bigger
- 8:37Speaker 2: than the Super Bowl.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I want to see the playoffs.
- 8:39Speaker 5: I'm like, you know, now I'm getting to the point
- 8:41Speaker 5: where we were starting to get people slotted into what
- 8:43Speaker 5: is it the round of thirty two?
- 8:44Speaker 1: What is that with the next the playoffs? Is that proper?
- 8:47Speaker 6: So it's around of thirty two now, just to be
- 8:51Speaker 6: what snarky a little bit, Usually it would be the
- 8:54Speaker 6: round at sixteen would be the first knockout.
- 8:56Speaker 1: So this is the expansion.
- 8:58Speaker 6: Because of the expansion, there's an extra round knockout games.
- 9:00Speaker 6: So the rat this will be the round of thirty two,
- 9:04Speaker 6: So it will be you know, some of the matchups
- 9:06Speaker 6: that you're seeing are not normally teams that would probably
- 9:09Speaker 6: advance this far in the normal World Cup.
- 9:12Speaker 4: But you know, I think it does help a little bit.
- 9:15Speaker 4: I don't think it.
- 9:16Speaker 6: I think this would happen regardless to an extent, but
- 9:18Speaker 6: the US being scrappy in the tournament I think is
- 9:21Speaker 6: definitely that help because all the Americans are like have
- 9:25Speaker 6: a rooting interest and you know, people are excited about
- 9:28Speaker 6: that as well. There's a lot of people that don't
- 9:30Speaker 6: know a ton about soccer that I think are asking
- 9:32Speaker 6: a lot of questions.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Right. That's like me, Evan, that's like it's been great.
- 9:35Speaker 5: What the other day where they literally had like messe
- 9:38Speaker 5: Bape like all these star players, you know, going right
- 9:41Speaker 5: through like my whole timeline after talking last week on
- 9:45Speaker 5: the guy from Norway freaking already blanket on his Holland Holland. Yeah,
- 9:49Speaker 5: I mean it's all my timeline is now is that guy.
- 9:52Speaker 5: So I think they've done a really good job of
- 9:54Speaker 5: I don't even know if they're marketing the stars.
- 9:55Speaker 2: It just seems like and Holland they're going to be here. Ye,
- 10:00Speaker 2: that's gonna be a Friday game on Friday. Yeah, that's
- 10:05Speaker 2: gonna I heard tickets right now, like like five thousand
- 10:08Speaker 2: to get it.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Really, so.
- 10:11Speaker 3: That game kind of like they're both already advanced.
- 10:14Speaker 4: Well, they're they're playing for the number one seed in
- 10:16Speaker 4: the group though, so there is.
- 10:18Speaker 6: Something so obviously like if you're a higher seed, then
- 10:22Speaker 6: you get a better draw, that.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Sort of thing.
- 10:25Speaker 6: They did a tweaking the rules this time that I
- 10:28Speaker 6: think backfired a little bit, where head to head is
- 10:30Speaker 6: now the number one tiebreaker over gold differential. So like
- 10:33Speaker 6: the third game in the group stage used to have
- 10:35Speaker 6: like a lot more meaning because if a team like
- 10:38Speaker 6: won five to nothing, that could change the whole group
- 10:40Speaker 6: like overnight, Whereas now a lot of these seedings are
- 10:44Speaker 6: already determined because it's head to head instead of gold differential,
- 10:48Speaker 6: which was kind of I think maybe a misstep a
- 10:50Speaker 6: little bit. But I wonder if things like that were
- 10:53Speaker 6: done for the American audience because like gold differential is
- 10:57Speaker 6: kind of hard. Yeah, you know, but but the But
- 11:00Speaker 6: now two games into the group stage, the US has
- 11:03Speaker 6: already clinched the number one seed in their group. They're
- 11:05Speaker 6: playing for absolutely nothing on Thursday.
- 11:07Speaker 3: Night, right, but they're playing for the same thing, right,
- 11:09Speaker 3: They're playing now, don't.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Don't they because there's no one that's going to tie
- 11:13Speaker 1: with them. Yeah, they are, so they're through.
- 11:16Speaker 3: But that's a matter like how you finish in terms
- 11:18Speaker 3: of how you get seated. Like I know they're going
- 11:21Speaker 3: to be number one in their group, but out of
- 11:24Speaker 3: the one hundred and eleven teams, I'm still going to
- 11:26Speaker 3: be around after this round thirty two. That's my that's
- 11:28Speaker 3: my one snarty yes, because they eliminated like twelve teams
- 11:32Speaker 3: from the from the tournament. I don't know why we
- 11:34Speaker 3: bother with this group stuff if everybody's just advances. But okay,
- 11:38Speaker 3: so that's my one. But that's not my one way
- 11:42Speaker 3: negativity because I I've I've been completely you know, entertained
- 11:47Speaker 3: by by all of it for all the reasons you
- 11:49Speaker 3: guys said.
- 11:50Speaker 2: And it's because it's like two hours.
- 11:52Speaker 3: Well, I would just say that the stuff that that
- 11:56Speaker 3: Alex is talking about with the country has made me
- 11:59Speaker 3: proud because I'm sick of getting the crap kicked out
- 12:03Speaker 3: of me about how bad my place is, which is
- 12:05Speaker 3: all I've really endured for like twenty years now, like
- 12:09Speaker 3: all these people telling you how bad your country is.
- 12:12Speaker 1: So it was really nice to see.
- 12:15Speaker 3: Once again, in a big event, our country puts the
- 12:17Speaker 3: best foot forward and shows you, oh no, maybe we
- 12:20Speaker 3: do know something about what we're doing.
- 12:23Speaker 1: That's been really rewarding for me.
- 12:24Speaker 3: Sports and drinking. Hell yeah, all the stuff you guys
- 12:27Speaker 3: are talking about about the star power. Like I'm sorry,
- 12:30Speaker 3: I do not watch a lot of soccer. But when
- 12:32Speaker 3: the guys that even I've heard of or is like
- 12:34Speaker 3: scoring hat.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Tricks right right exactly and.
- 12:37Speaker 3: Braces bracing, like fascinates me. How many, how many, how
- 12:43Speaker 3: many words they make up for themselves like nil and
- 12:45Speaker 3: brace like you.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Can't say you're tied, you can't.
- 12:50Speaker 3: It's like, it's it's been pretty cool to see these
- 12:53Speaker 3: names that I've known about for twenty years. There's forty
- 12:56Speaker 3: one year old Ronaldo, thirty nine year old Messy like,
- 12:58Speaker 3: and they're still do it.
- 13:00Speaker 1: They're still playing.
- 13:01Speaker 4: And I know, I know there's Bekistan for.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Ronaldo one. I guess what it was definitely an.
- 13:07Speaker 7: Asterisk in the Euro the year they won the Euro
- 13:11Speaker 7: and twenty sixteen their first game was a drop.
- 13:13Speaker 8: They got it out of their system.
- 13:15Speaker 6: Now we go, your team is stacked, but not because
- 13:18Speaker 6: of him, Like Portugal has a great team, one of
- 13:22Speaker 6: the worst.
- 13:22Speaker 3: Teams in the in the World Cup, and that's for.
- 13:25Speaker 7: Sure, for sure, and that's why Portugal buried them yesterday.
- 13:29Speaker 4: You know, yeah, totally.
- 13:30Speaker 1: That's it's been cool to watch.
- 13:32Speaker 3: I you know, I'm not going to pretend to you know,
- 13:36Speaker 3: appointment viewing and what it's on in the background.
- 13:38Speaker 5: It's like Fred Yeah's thing where you put the baseball on.
- 13:41Speaker 5: It's like your friend, Like, that's what I've been doing
- 13:42Speaker 5: during the day.
- 13:43Speaker 1: I did it yesterday.
- 13:45Speaker 3: I was sitting around doing some stuff for the yearbook
- 13:47Speaker 3: and in Game Day magazine, and I had the Portugal
- 13:51Speaker 3: game on, and you know, every two seconds it was
- 13:53Speaker 3: Ronaldo doing this, and I like, I looked, I looked
- 13:58Speaker 3: up how bad they are like in the FIFA rankings,
- 14:01Speaker 3: because Bekistin is like fifty. They're really Yeah, I would
- 14:05Speaker 3: say that those like were a couple of things about Alex.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Don't laugh with me that the.
- 14:09Speaker 4: Forty eighteen expansion.
- 14:11Speaker 6: To me, I think it's been good for the respects
- 14:14Speaker 6: of like all these star players are just dominating the
- 14:18Speaker 6: group stage, which is fun. Like you see, like the
- 14:21Speaker 6: other day it's Messi and Bappe Holland and they all
- 14:24Speaker 6: scored multiple goals, multiple goals, which is fun to watch.
- 14:27Speaker 6: But you know, Paul's team, Italy, I'm sorry, Italy is
- 14:31Speaker 6: better at soccer than news Bekistan.
- 14:33Speaker 3: They just are but they have no one to blame
- 14:35Speaker 3: but themselves.
- 14:36Speaker 6: Though I understand, but I'm just saying like that, that
- 14:39Speaker 6: part of it, you know, you know we gotta watch
- 14:42Speaker 6: like you know, Argentina just steamroll a team.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Maybe we should have the NCAA pick the team that
- 14:47Speaker 1: get in.
- 14:47Speaker 6: It used to that would be the automatic big The
- 14:51Speaker 6: group stage used to just be a little bit more competitive,
- 14:53Speaker 6: I would say like that. You know when it was
- 14:55Speaker 6: only thirty two teams and the groups were a little
- 14:58Speaker 6: bit more competitive and it was actually hard to get
- 15:00Speaker 6: out of the group, you know, it wasn't It was a.
- 15:02Speaker 4: Challenge for a lot of teams.
- 15:04Speaker 6: And they had you know, the group of deaths where
- 15:05Speaker 6: there would be three or four really good teams in
- 15:07Speaker 6: one group just by the draw and you know.
- 15:09Speaker 2: There would be a really good team that Norway and
- 15:11Speaker 2: France being in the same group is that's ye, that's tough.
- 15:14Speaker 6: But Norway like like Norway's okay, they have Holland, but
- 15:18Speaker 6: like they're not they're not Argentina, France, no Germany.
- 15:23Speaker 1: I saw.
- 15:25Speaker 5: He hit twenty two miles an hour, Like they show
- 15:27Speaker 5: one of those trackers like we usually do what I mean.
- 15:29Speaker 5: You know in NFL we get that with any next
- 15:31Speaker 5: gen and that's like if somebody breaks twenty miles an
- 15:33Speaker 5: hour on the next gen thing, or like he was
- 15:35Speaker 5: hitting twenty two and he's like six five of.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Right, he's a truck.
- 15:38Speaker 6: There's usually a couple of teams that have a player
- 15:41Speaker 6: like holland who is they have one guy who's the
- 15:44Speaker 6: whole team.
- 15:45Speaker 9: You know.
- 15:45Speaker 6: I remember, like Zlatan Ibrahimovic when we were younger, the
- 15:49Speaker 6: guy like was literally Sweden.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Was getting a lot of criticism about his coverage.
- 15:53Speaker 4: Yeah, and you know he's trying to be so much. Yeah,
- 15:58Speaker 4: he was the entirety.
- 15:59Speaker 1: That's a whole the story.
- 16:01Speaker 6: You know what Uruguay I had a couple of runs
- 16:04Speaker 6: with like Gonzalahi and Suarez and those guys, and it
- 16:07Speaker 6: was like they have a couple of guys, so they
- 16:09Speaker 6: have one guy that's Norway.
- 16:10Speaker 5: Norway has one would make a great targarian, like that
- 16:13Speaker 5: guy was meant to play one of the targarians right
- 16:16Speaker 5: in the.
- 16:16Speaker 8: Game of at least a cameo like cameo.
- 16:22Speaker 2: You know, or one of those elves and Lord of
- 16:25Speaker 2: the Rings. You know that the big scare the ones
- 16:28Speaker 2: with the arrows. All right, So that's World Cup. Just
- 16:33Speaker 2: I just wanted to get my Mia Koppa out there.
- 16:36Speaker 5: I think it's been going pretty good though, Fred like
- 16:37Speaker 5: just living a town away there, like our town was
- 16:40Speaker 5: preparing for chaos and.
- 16:42Speaker 1: There hasn't been chaos. There's you know, it's been cool
- 16:44Speaker 1: to go to like.
- 16:44Speaker 5: Our local angels little coffee shop and there's random fans
- 16:48Speaker 5: from random places just posting up there.
- 16:51Speaker 1: You know. We were, god, what was Morocco.
- 16:52Speaker 5: We had like some Morocco fans there, you know, and
- 16:54Speaker 5: they're seeking out like the Middle Eastern place it was.
- 16:56Speaker 1: It's just been cool.
- 16:57Speaker 5: It's been really cool and it hasn't been the chaos
- 17:00Speaker 5: that you were kind of worried.
- 17:01Speaker 7: It's like with everything, everyone's like all up tight before,
- 17:04Speaker 7: like predicting the worst, so negative, and then it plays
- 17:07Speaker 7: out and everything's fine. And that's like every literally everything
- 17:10Speaker 7: in life.
- 17:11Speaker 1: You plan for the worst and you hope for the
- 17:12Speaker 1: best always.
- 17:13Speaker 2: But but people, but I think there was a lot
- 17:15Speaker 2: of negativity going into this that because it's soccer was
- 17:19Speaker 2: just not fair.
- 17:20Speaker 6: It was a sport that we liked more. Yeah, like
- 17:24Speaker 6: nationally that we liked more. I don't think there, yeah, but.
- 17:27Speaker 7: Like then again the Knicks one, and like no one
- 17:30Speaker 7: gave a crap the next day because of the World Cup,
- 17:33Speaker 7: like except for New York and exactly it was honestly,
- 17:36Speaker 7: my favorite part about the World Cup was that it
- 17:38Speaker 7: totally just like.
- 17:41Speaker 1: What people know.
- 17:44Speaker 4: The people in New York, New York, no one news cycle.
- 17:50Speaker 1: The title. How long is it's supposed to go?
- 17:55Speaker 8: Usually it's the dead of summer. There's nothing going on.
- 17:57Speaker 2: And that's because I saw that in all the sports
- 18:02Speaker 2: and all the championships outside of that region or in
- 18:05Speaker 2: the city, no one cares.
- 18:07Speaker 3: It's it's a one day news cycle when you win
- 18:09Speaker 3: a title.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Now it used to be more, but not anymore, not anymore.
- 18:13Speaker 1: People move on very.
- 18:14Speaker 4: Quickly, like it can never just let us have any
- 18:17Speaker 4: fun us the one.
- 18:21Speaker 1: I had already heard your title and something that I
- 18:24Speaker 1: thought about on my riots.
- 18:26Speaker 6: All the talking, they go, oh, well, how do you
- 18:29Speaker 6: build like the Knicks? And it's a week long of
- 18:31Speaker 6: like everybody now, the only way to win is how
- 18:34Speaker 6: the Knicks build. And this was like the knixt one
- 18:36Speaker 6: of the title. Everybody in New York partied about it,
- 18:39Speaker 6: and then it was like the next day it was
- 18:41Speaker 6: back to the World Cup and it was beautiful. That's
- 18:43Speaker 6: exactly how it should.
- 18:44Speaker 1: Go, all right, all right, yeah, Bradley, what else do
- 18:47Speaker 1: we have? We have?
- 18:48Speaker 2: You know, some players have been showing up at some
- 18:51Speaker 2: of their own little events, uh, in different places.
- 18:55Speaker 1: Married, get married.
- 18:58Speaker 5: Like I'm sharing not to just uh, not to rail you, Fred,
- 19:01Speaker 5: but I just read this. I'm reading this news ESPN
- 19:03Speaker 5: draft and it's Matt Miller, who we've interviewed every time
- 19:06Speaker 5: I saw this. He was in a major car accident
- 19:08Speaker 5: and had his left arm amputation.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Oh no, that's fortunate sharing the news online.
- 19:13Speaker 5: But you know, show we talked to him, Matt every
- 19:15Speaker 5: year at the at the draft combined great guy ship.
- 19:21Speaker 1: That's sorry, there was a that's okay.
- 19:24Speaker 6: There was a New York Post article about her some
- 19:27Speaker 6: one of those places, and like he must have shared
- 19:30Speaker 6: a picture of his his car after the crash and
- 19:33Speaker 6: his his Bronco is just like totally gosh. Yeah, it
- 19:37Speaker 6: was terrifying. Yeah, we know, we know, back to.
- 19:40Speaker 1: The Patriots, you know, in front of the show.
- 19:42Speaker 4: But yeah, bring.
- 19:45Speaker 2: It down, take a little longer a file of stories
- 19:49Speaker 2: then anyway, yea, So what else what do we got got?
- 20:00Speaker 1: Barry Morton got engaged. I just can't Baron Morton. Baron
- 20:06Speaker 1: Morton got engaged. He now he got engaged, more got engaged, had.
- 20:14Speaker 7: A quiet, not secret wedding, but a very quiet wedding
- 20:17Speaker 7: this summer.
- 20:17Speaker 5: That was that based off the piece you wrote was
- 20:19Speaker 5: that last year engaged and that was it? That that
- 20:22Speaker 5: that piece the numbers. I'm not sure about the Barry
- 20:24Speaker 5: Morton one though, maybe that one will.
- 20:28Speaker 10: No.
- 20:28Speaker 5: It's like it's kind of striking because right now it's
- 20:30Speaker 5: the time and there's just nothing going on. I mean
- 20:31Speaker 5: I look at like the Patriots, you know, like my
- 20:33Speaker 5: Twitter Patriots feed, and there's just nobody's doing.
- 20:36Speaker 1: Nothing right now.
- 20:37Speaker 5: It's all kind of quiet. It seems like the time
- 20:39Speaker 5: to I think that's themat on things.
- 20:41Speaker 4: That's the other reason why I.
- 20:42Speaker 6: Think the World Cup has taken over so much as
- 20:44Speaker 6: it hit at the perfect time. There's literally nothing else
- 20:47Speaker 6: going on unless your friend and you're still watching the
- 20:49Speaker 6: Red Sox.
- 20:50Speaker 4: There's nothing else going.
- 20:51Speaker 2: I was thinking of you and Barth as I was
- 20:54Speaker 2: driving up today because the league said we're not going
- 20:57Speaker 2: to have a supplemental draft, and I was thinking, you
- 21:00Speaker 2: guys always go down to Park Avenue and camp out
- 21:03Speaker 2: the draft, right we sit outside.
- 21:06Speaker 6: We were any thing about it yesterday. That is news
- 21:08Speaker 6: though it is it is kind of a remarkable story.
- 21:12Speaker 4: Uh, Soresby now is basically in limbo.
- 21:16Speaker 6: Good Like some people are saying he's gonna have to
- 21:18Speaker 6: go play like in Canada or something like that, just
- 21:20Speaker 6: to play some football and you know whatever. But uh,
- 21:24Speaker 6: it's a it's an awkward situation because, uh, you know,
- 21:28Speaker 6: they've let other guys in the supplemental draft that have
- 21:31Speaker 6: done illegal things, that have drugs and you know, all
- 21:34Speaker 6: sorts of stuffed.
- 21:35Speaker 3: This a little bit though last week just about how
- 21:38Speaker 3: quick it is and if they all have enough time
- 21:40Speaker 3: to sort of vet him, Yeah, a little bit.
- 21:42Speaker 1: And I think.
- 21:42Speaker 3: That's really was the impetus for their decision, right. But
- 21:46Speaker 3: it was weird about it though, is like you said,
- 21:47Speaker 3: a deadline. So is that the deadline or is that
- 21:49Speaker 3: not the deadline? Because if he doesn't file the paperwork
- 21:52Speaker 3: in time to do your investigation, but he made the deadline.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Right, you know, And and so I was a little surprised.
- 21:57Speaker 6: It's a unique situation and he there's no go back
- 22:00Speaker 6: to college football for him, and there's no going in
- 22:02Speaker 6: the NFL now for him. So the twenty twenty seven
- 22:05Speaker 6: draft is the next time that he's.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Do you have any sympathy for him?
- 22:09Speaker 6: No, I don't have any sympathy for him because I
- 22:11Speaker 6: don't think that he's really showing much remorse for the
- 22:14Speaker 6: situation and he's lawyering.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Up more information and all that kind of stuff. Like
- 22:17Speaker 1: on the surface of it, he bet on his own team, right,
- 22:20Speaker 1: he gambled, and you can't do that.
- 22:23Speaker 3: But no, like, no one's arguing that what he did
- 22:27Speaker 3: isn't serious. Yeah, but like there's a lot of guys
- 22:29Speaker 3: that have gambled on their teams, on other teams, whatnot,
- 22:35Speaker 3: you know.
- 22:36Speaker 1: So, and they should stuff that concept?
- 22:37Speaker 3: Is that lifetime ban?
- 22:39Speaker 1: Oh? Most don't. I'm not talking about that, are they?
- 22:41Speaker 3: No, I'm saying like consequences, most don't.
- 22:45Speaker 2: Yeah, well I think you know, it's just like the
- 22:47Speaker 2: whole Pete Rose thing, Like, no, he should never go
- 22:50Speaker 2: into the Hall of Fame.
- 22:51Speaker 3: I'm sorry, That's why I said, Like, did he bet
- 22:54Speaker 3: against his team?
- 22:55Speaker 1: Yeah? I mean you bet on baseball.
- 22:57Speaker 3: He definitely should not be allowed to play for Texas Tech. Yeah,
- 23:01Speaker 3: Like they just caught him betting when he was at Indiana.
- 23:06Speaker 3: I don't really think there's much of an argument for
- 23:08Speaker 3: that ruling that you know, allowed him to play, allowed
- 23:11Speaker 3: him in an injunction or whatever. But a year from
- 23:16Speaker 3: now in the NFL, Like, I don't know, should he
- 23:20Speaker 3: not be allowed to play?
- 23:22Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 23:23Speaker 6: I think it's interesting because they're like kind of punishing
- 23:26Speaker 6: him for rules in the NFL's collective bargaining agreement.
- 23:30Speaker 4: But he's not in the NFL yet.
- 23:31Speaker 2: But I listen, I don't think he should be banned
- 23:34Speaker 2: for life, but take a year off and when you
- 23:37Speaker 2: come in, by the way, we're going to monitor you.
- 23:39Speaker 1: You know you're you're on probation. That means it's a
- 23:43Speaker 1: huge quarterback class next year too, So yeah, kind.
- 23:46Speaker 3: That just adds another one.
- 23:48Speaker 4: I mean, he's lawyering up.
- 23:49Speaker 6: Jeffrey Kessler's like the NFL is like thrown in the
- 23:52Speaker 6: NFL side with the nflpa's representing him and we'll see you.
- 23:57Speaker 6: But it just it's a weird, great area where he's
- 24:01Speaker 6: not eligible to play in college football and this is
- 24:04Speaker 6: what the supplemental draft is for. But the NFL kind
- 24:08Speaker 6: of wants to punish him for what he did in college.
- 24:11Speaker 2: But he's not, that's not what he did. The NFL
- 24:14Speaker 2: is not well. Do they want to punish him or
- 24:16Speaker 2: do they just want to avoid him?
- 24:17Speaker 4: I think both. I think they you know, they there.
- 24:21Speaker 1: They don't have any jurisdiction over him.
- 24:23Speaker 6: They shouldn't, but they by saying he can't go into
- 24:26Speaker 6: the supplemental draft, they are.
- 24:27Speaker 2: I think they just want to avoid having to deal.
- 24:30Speaker 3: With And I agree with you, Fred, I don't have
- 24:32Speaker 3: much sympathy right now. He did what he did and
- 24:35Speaker 3: there should be some consequences.
- 24:37Speaker 5: It's just the betting on his own team part of it,
- 24:38Speaker 5: because to me, college football.
- 24:41Speaker 1: You can't bet on the industry judgment.
- 24:45Speaker 8: It's your judgment.
- 24:46Speaker 7: If you would be so dumb as to do something
- 24:48Speaker 7: like that, what other poor decisions.
- 24:50Speaker 5: But you know, the elephant in the room is that
- 24:52Speaker 5: the league is making tons and tons of money off
- 24:54Speaker 5: of gambling. So it's just the hard thing to.
- 24:59Speaker 3: Argument when I signed something that say we can't better, Like,
- 25:03Speaker 3: how difficult has that been.
- 25:05Speaker 1: For you to adhere to? Serial Like? I never right, Yeah,
- 25:07Speaker 1: I don't have.
- 25:11Speaker 8: Gambling to begin with. I presume like there is an
- 25:14Speaker 8: addiction for me.
- 25:15Speaker 3: I like to I like to dabble.
- 25:18Speaker 8: I think when you're a lot of kids.
- 25:20Speaker 7: I would say that young are kind of growing up
- 25:23Speaker 7: where they're pushed to it and maybe get addicted too
- 25:26Speaker 7: soon because they're just way too young when they get
- 25:28Speaker 7: involved with that. And you do see that everywhere, like
- 25:31Speaker 7: you guys have sons, you know this.
- 25:33Speaker 3: Oh no, absolutely, so it's way too easy to do it.
- 25:36Speaker 1: But it's not.
- 25:38Speaker 3: I wouldn't say that any more kids do it now
- 25:39Speaker 3: than they did when I was.
- 25:43Speaker 8: Situation.
- 25:44Speaker 4: I just worry about the president.
- 25:46Speaker 6: Like, Okay, so Josh Gordon had like a known serious
- 25:51Speaker 6: drug problem to hard drugs, and he was allowed entry
- 25:55Speaker 6: into the supplemental Draft and came to the NFL.
- 25:57Speaker 2: But this is a difference, and I know that society
- 26:02Speaker 2: wise it may not be as big a deal, but
- 26:04Speaker 2: within the industry, gambling affects the integrity of the industry
- 26:10Speaker 2: and whether or not you think that there is integrity
- 26:13Speaker 2: that exists the league. Every league has to do whatever
- 26:17Speaker 2: it can to at least show publicly that they're worried
- 26:20Speaker 2: about the integrity of the game, because let's face it,
- 26:23Speaker 2: if we think the games are fixed, we're not watching.
- 26:27Speaker 3: They don't care why the NFL ruled They of course
- 26:30Speaker 3: not only did.
- 26:31Speaker 4: They rule what they rule? Did you read the letter?
- 26:33Speaker 4: It is like scathing, like you know, just.
- 26:36Speaker 6: Really they have to be hard on it, and I
- 26:38Speaker 6: get it, but I just think that it's a it's
- 26:40Speaker 6: a weird precedent to set, Like they're punishing him for
- 26:43Speaker 6: something he didn't do in their league, so like they
- 26:46Speaker 6: really shouldn't have jurisdiction on him, but they're making him
- 26:49Speaker 6: pay for it.
- 26:49Speaker 3: Anyways, And as as a point of comparison, when they
- 26:52Speaker 3: found out about some other guys that gambled when they
- 26:56Speaker 3: were in college that didn't get caught when they were
- 26:58Speaker 3: in college, they didn't retroactively punish.
- 27:00Speaker 7: Thing, right, Yeah, yeah, Well if k had gotten caught sooner,
- 27:06Speaker 7: like if you got him.
- 27:08Speaker 3: From the draft, I don't know.
- 27:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know either.
- 27:13Speaker 2: But they have to take a tough stand on gambling, uh,
- 27:17Speaker 2: within the sport nice.
- 27:19Speaker 3: And they did, Like with Calvin Ridley, they did. They
- 27:21Speaker 3: did suspend him for a year.
- 27:23Speaker 5: Well what happens when somebody goes says, Josh Gordon had
- 27:26Speaker 5: an addiction problem. I'm addicted to gambling. I have a
- 27:29Speaker 5: it's a it's get help.
- 27:30Speaker 3: But that's that's absolutely why you can still play. But
- 27:34Speaker 3: you have to get.
- 27:34Speaker 1: Help, right, right, so they like admit it. Like you said,
- 27:38Speaker 1: this guy is not showing much contrition.
- 27:40Speaker 4: It doesn't seem like that.
- 27:41Speaker 6: Now I'm on the outside looking in, but lawyering up
- 27:45Speaker 6: and like kind of playing hardball so to speak with all,
- 27:49Speaker 6: not only with the NCAA, but now with the NFL.
- 27:52Speaker 6: Also just feels, you know, like a guy that's not
- 27:55Speaker 6: necessarily thinking that he did much wrong.
- 27:58Speaker 1: Can you give me cool? What is his background? Like
- 28:00Speaker 1: I know you say so he.
- 28:00Speaker 6: Played at Cincinnati, right, and then he trans played for
- 28:03Speaker 6: Indiana or no, he was going to Texas Tech U
- 28:06Speaker 6: for this fall season, and then all this came out
- 28:09Speaker 6: with the gambling, and Texas Tech initially stood by him,
- 28:13Speaker 6: and actually because they gave him like a big nil
- 28:15Speaker 6: contract like over you know, five million dollars in nil
- 28:19Speaker 6: money to play at Texas Tech.
- 28:21Speaker 4: Initially they stood by him.
- 28:23Speaker 6: And the ripple effect, all of their their games were
- 28:25Speaker 6: literally getting canceled by their opponents, their opponent and not
- 28:29Speaker 6: just in football, like they were canceling games in other
- 28:32Speaker 6: sports that try to send the message like this is
- 28:34Speaker 6: not acceptable. Then they went to judge in Lubbock, Texas,
- 28:38Speaker 6: which is you know, no bias there is, yeah, and
- 28:41Speaker 6: they the judge gave him an injunction to play, but
- 28:44Speaker 6: like obviously that was you know, fixed or something, you know.
- 28:48Speaker 6: And so now they've ruled that he's ineligible to play
- 28:52Speaker 6: in college, and so he filed for the supplemental Draft.
- 28:55Speaker 6: Now the NFL is saying you can't do the supplemental Draft.
- 28:58Speaker 6: They did say that he could go into the twenty
- 28:59Speaker 6: seven raft. So he's got to go find some place
- 29:02Speaker 6: to play football for a year, Canada probably or whatever,
- 29:06Speaker 6: and then in April of twenty twenty seven, he's draft eligible.
- 29:09Speaker 1: That Lea's already going, isn't it the Canadian Football League already?
- 29:13Speaker 1: It's not already.
- 29:14Speaker 4: I don't know exactly when their season is.
- 29:17Speaker 6: But he was somebody that, you know, some people thought,
- 29:19Speaker 6: if he had a good fall season at Texas Tech,
- 29:21Speaker 6: was going to be a first round pick, you know,
- 29:23Speaker 6: in one of these guys with Arch Manning and all
- 29:26Speaker 6: of them, that we're going to be right up there
- 29:28Speaker 6: for you know, he's got those kinds of physical tools.
- 29:31Speaker 6: So you know, most people thought if he had been
- 29:33Speaker 6: in the supplemental Draft that somebody would probably put in
- 29:36Speaker 6: like a second round pick to bid for him.
- 29:38Speaker 3: I mean I've seen as many as like a dozen
- 29:40Speaker 3: quarterbacks maybe in the top three rounds, two rounds. Like,
- 29:45Speaker 3: I don't know if they're all I mean, obviously they're
- 29:46Speaker 3: not all going to pan out, but there's a pretty
- 29:49Speaker 3: deep crop a quarterback.
- 29:51Speaker 6: It's hard because a lot of them transfer right, Like
- 29:54Speaker 6: you know, so like Soresby was one of them.
- 29:56Speaker 4: The kid from North Texas is pretty good too, funny name.
- 30:00Speaker 6: He's Yeah, he's transferring into a bigger program. Uh, you
- 30:04Speaker 6: know you have Arch, you have the kid at Oregon,
- 30:06Speaker 6: Like you know, those are kind of more.
- 30:08Speaker 1: Yeah, that's kind of the Chambliss.
- 30:10Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm not a I don't know about Trinidad.
- 30:12Speaker 3: I don't know about him as a pro either, but
- 30:14Speaker 3: he'll probably go in the top three rounds. Yeah.
- 30:16Speaker 1: All right, So that's some things that are on the table.
- 30:20Speaker 2: Eight five five Pass five hundred is the hotline podcast
- 30:23Speaker 2: at Patriots dot Com is the email address, so it's
- 30:26Speaker 2: wide open. Uh, if there are other NFL stories out
- 30:30Speaker 2: there that we haven't hit on, you can free to
- 30:32Speaker 2: bring them up. World Cup Baseball, Jalen Brown still a Celtic.
- 30:36Speaker 1: We got that issue going on here in Boston.
- 30:39Speaker 2: That's a big story that the Celtic is gonna have
- 30:42Speaker 2: to figure out.
- 30:43Speaker 1: Uh.
- 30:44Speaker 2: So, whatever you want to talk about, let's start it
- 30:46Speaker 2: out with Herm and d C. What's up Herm?
- 30:51Speaker 11: What's going on?
- 30:52Speaker 10: Ladies and Jens Hey? Uh?
- 30:56Speaker 11: Two quick questions, right, My first maybelug little question. My
- 31:01Speaker 11: first question is if you pulled all the places in
- 31:04Speaker 11: the NFL, right, I would say they will prefer to
- 31:08Speaker 11: play on natural grass versus turf. So, but it seems right, So,
- 31:15Speaker 11: but it seems like there's more terf in the NFL stadiums,
- 31:19Speaker 11: all right, So my first question.
- 31:21Speaker 12: I guess will be why.
- 31:23Speaker 11: And then my second question and apologies to Advan because
- 31:27Speaker 11: I think we talked a little bit on ketshway too,
- 31:30Speaker 11: and I'm restockling this question because I want to hear
- 31:32Speaker 11: everybody else's opinion on this. It seems that for right
- 31:36Speaker 11: now Cover six coverage, right.
- 31:39Speaker 12: It seems to be Drake Mays kryptonite.
- 31:43Speaker 11: And the simple question is why and then if the
- 31:48Speaker 11: acquisition of Adrian Brown might help with that. So those
- 31:52Speaker 11: are the two questions I'll take up there and listen.
- 31:56Speaker 2: Thanks to So as to the first question, I think
- 31:59Speaker 2: you're right most players would prefer natural grass. But all
- 32:03Speaker 2: these stadium in the NFL are multi use stadiums, you know.
- 32:07Speaker 2: You know, the Gillette Stadium is one of the rare
- 32:11Speaker 2: ones that's privately owned, but most of them are partnerships
- 32:13Speaker 2: with the county or the municipality or the state or whatever,
- 32:16Speaker 2: and they have an obligation to bring in revenue. For example, Houston,
- 32:22Speaker 2: the Texas Stadium was built, was built as much for
- 32:25Speaker 2: the Rodeo as it was for the Houston Texas.
- 32:29Speaker 1: So they're all multi use.
- 32:31Speaker 2: And if you have grass, it's going to get torn
- 32:33Speaker 2: up by concerts and whatever else you're bringing into the stadium,
- 32:37Speaker 2: and so financially it just you just can't you know,
- 32:41Speaker 2: it's just this by November beginning in December, the fields
- 32:45Speaker 2: torn up, as we saw every year here and in
- 32:48Speaker 2: Pittsburgh when they had grass.
- 32:50Speaker 6: Yeah, a lot of the stadiums that do have like
- 32:52Speaker 6: maybe not fully natural glass, but some like combination of it.
- 32:56Speaker 1: They wheel it in, they wheel it in.
- 32:58Speaker 6: Yeah, so when they have concerts and stuff that they
- 33:00Speaker 6: have a floor for that, and then when the football
- 33:03Speaker 6: team comes in places they do that in Arizona, Vegas,
- 33:06Speaker 6: but those places have the weather for it, you know,
- 33:09Speaker 6: like they can grow grass year round and keep it,
- 33:12Speaker 6: you know, in good shape. So I don't know if
- 33:15Speaker 6: we would be able to have that advantage here.
- 33:17Speaker 1: Yeah, so I do wonder if there's a way.
- 33:20Speaker 2: There probably is a way, but it would probably be
- 33:23Speaker 2: very expensive and not full proof, you know. So this
- 33:29Speaker 2: is like, I don't think like the turf that we
- 33:33Speaker 2: had years ago, you know, astro turf that was that
- 33:36Speaker 2: was you just walk on it, you get a hamstring,
- 33:39Speaker 2: you know, it was terrible.
- 33:40Speaker 3: This is better than that.
- 33:41Speaker 1: But it's gone to many many generations. It's still not
- 33:44Speaker 1: it's still it's pretty good. It's pretty good.
- 33:47Speaker 3: Well not for player injuries, you don't think so. No,
- 33:50Speaker 3: I think there's a lot of turf related injuries still.
- 33:53Speaker 1: Well it was grass related injuries too.
- 33:55Speaker 2: I mean, you know when it would sod would come
- 33:57Speaker 2: out from under your foot and all that stuff you
- 33:59Speaker 2: pulse of. I think I think people make it a
- 34:04Speaker 2: thing about turf, kind of like what they did with concussions.
- 34:07Speaker 2: It's like, really, I mean, you have injuries in many
- 34:10Speaker 2: different ways in many different sports, and to blame it
- 34:12Speaker 2: on the surface nowadays, I think your way.
- 34:16Speaker 3: To try to make amends with Roger Goodell after you
- 34:19Speaker 3: called him out in the last show.
- 34:20Speaker 1: No, no, no, no, I just think I think that.
- 34:23Speaker 3: Today our fans are telling us this is what they want.
- 34:26Speaker 2: Today's generation of artificial turf is much much better than
- 34:31Speaker 2: crap that was in Houston or the Veteran Stadium.
- 34:35Speaker 3: No Veteran Stadium, Yes, not the Craft Houston.
- 34:38Speaker 2: Like that's this the astronome I'm talking about back then.
- 34:43Speaker 1: I mean they were the first.
- 34:44Speaker 3: One that astro turf as we know it. Oh my god,
- 34:47Speaker 3: this is this.
- 34:51Speaker 1: Would like just like it was a carpet cements for
- 34:54Speaker 1: the rug on it.
- 34:55Speaker 4: It was at least this has a little bit of
- 34:57Speaker 4: like hold like goes in to it.
- 35:00Speaker 3: Especially definitely better than that.
- 35:02Speaker 1: I just remember like.
- 35:04Speaker 6: Your feet would just like burn like because of the
- 35:07Speaker 6: it gets hot. Yeah, and like it just that was
- 35:09Speaker 6: a part of me that was always really uncomfortable about it.
- 35:12Speaker 6: Like I wasn't playing, I wasn't playing fast enough to
- 35:16Speaker 6: get hurt.
- 35:16Speaker 1: So I just remember you were cutting with enough.
- 35:19Speaker 3: Yeah, it's an excellent, excellent restaurant, right, you knows what
- 35:23Speaker 3: you're talking about.
- 35:26Speaker 6: The cover sixth question, we went down in a rabbit
- 35:29Speaker 6: hole on That's a catch twenty two questions, but we talked.
- 35:32Speaker 1: About I saw you write the same thing.
- 35:34Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, it's uh dad and cover zero or his
- 35:38Speaker 6: two lowest coverages that he faced in terms of the
- 35:41Speaker 6: e p A uh you know efficiency. So we talked
- 35:44Speaker 6: about it on Catch twenty two a little bit, and
- 35:47Speaker 6: I wrote a little bit about it in our training
- 35:49Speaker 6: camp previews. But it's interesting. It's a you know, it's
- 35:52Speaker 6: quarter quarter half, right, so you have one side of
- 35:55Speaker 6: the coverages cover to one side of the coverage is quarters.
- 35:58Speaker 6: So it's a combination of splait, safety zone coverage and
- 36:02Speaker 6: you know, I think there's a little bit of a
- 36:04Speaker 6: chicken or the egg thing going on there. Like the
- 36:06Speaker 6: teams that run it are really good defenses, like Seattle,
- 36:09Speaker 6: So when you see it, you're seeing it against really
- 36:11Speaker 6: good players, which definitely helps. But it's also you know,
- 36:16Speaker 6: that's the thing now, is a lot of split safety zone,
- 36:18Speaker 6: a lot of quarters, a lot of you know, cover two.
- 36:21Speaker 5: That's what zero blits though, I mean the zero blits
- 36:22Speaker 5: that's you know, is that to me signals he's got
- 36:25Speaker 5: to know when it's coming, he's gotta know where.
- 36:27Speaker 1: He's got to yeah, and get it out.
- 36:28Speaker 6: Yeah, I think a lot of that would be you know,
- 36:30Speaker 6: pre snap protection.
- 36:31Speaker 1: So who's winning in the NFL these days? Defense or offense?
- 36:34Speaker 4: Defense? Yeah?
- 36:35Speaker 6: Defense, defense, And you know, I think schematically, you know,
- 36:40Speaker 6: maybe the numbers don't back that up, but I would
- 36:42Speaker 6: say from an x's and O standpoint, defenses have figured
- 36:46Speaker 6: out ways to limit explosive plays. They figured out ways
- 36:49Speaker 6: to cut down on the impact of motion. I've seen
- 36:53Speaker 6: a lot about that this offseason, about how with all
- 36:55Speaker 6: these split safety shells and the things that defenses are
- 36:58Speaker 6: doing that it's kind of wiping motion out as like
- 37:02Speaker 6: a trick for offenses. So it's it's defenses have pushedback,
- 37:07Speaker 6: They've they've kind of changed, and a lot of it
- 37:10Speaker 6: is just simple, We're going to put two safeties over
- 37:13Speaker 6: the top of the defense and knowledge and throw the
- 37:14Speaker 6: ball down the field. But for the most part, you know,
- 37:18Speaker 6: there there's a lot of that going on. So it's
- 37:20Speaker 6: it's fun to.
- 37:20Speaker 1: Watch Anthony's in Seattle. Hey Anthony, Hey, what's up?
- 37:25Speaker 13: My people?
- 37:25Speaker 1: Hello?
- 37:26Speaker 5: Hey, Hey, they do stuff.
- 37:27Speaker 9: We're all we're all human.
- 37:29Speaker 12: You know, the guy lost his arm, you can cuss. Hey,
- 37:33Speaker 12: I wanted to call it in.
- 37:35Speaker 9: I feel like I love you guys. You guys know,
- 37:37Speaker 9: I love you guys. I feel like I can say
- 37:39Speaker 9: this and it comes from a place of love. But
- 37:42Speaker 9: I always said, you know, I could listen to the
- 37:44Speaker 9: PU crew talk about anything, and I think we finally
- 37:48Speaker 9: found that that thing that I can So I'm listening
- 37:51Speaker 9: on on Tuesday. And I never realized how little I
- 37:55Speaker 9: care about soccer because I don't think about it, and
- 37:58Speaker 9: I didn't realize how much I don't care about it
- 38:00Speaker 9: until you guys spit an entire episode talking about one
- 38:08Speaker 9: one off season thing. And now that Alex and Paul
- 38:11Speaker 9: are both on the show at the same time, I
- 38:12Speaker 9: wanted you guys have mentioned a while back the show
- 38:16Speaker 9: your friends and neighbors love love that show. Curious, kind
- 38:20Speaker 9: of a couple of things. Uh Uh you know that
- 38:23Speaker 9: that you guys had kind of that you like? Uh, plotlines, characters,
- 38:28Speaker 9: et cetera, et cetera. One thing I just wanted to
- 38:30Speaker 9: touch on is and spoiler alert for those who haven't
- 38:32Speaker 9: seen the season finale is uh, James Marsin's.
- 38:35Speaker 10: Character owen Ash.
- 38:37Speaker 9: I like that guy, and I spent the entire season thinking,
- 38:41Speaker 9: like conversation an antagonist or a guy that we hate,
- 38:46Speaker 9: but that hasn't happened. Yet so I was like waiting
- 38:49Speaker 9: for the other shooting drop, for something really really despicable
- 38:52Speaker 9: for him to do, so we can say, Okay, that's
- 38:54Speaker 9: why we're supposed to hate this guy. But it never happened,
- 38:56Speaker 9: and then the guy died while you still like them,
- 38:58Speaker 9: so I'm like.
- 39:00Speaker 2: You cut up, Okay, all right, thanks.
- 39:03Speaker 4: If you're watching it live by, it's almost like.
- 39:05Speaker 8: Anthony Show too. But Paul, we literally just had the
- 39:10Speaker 8: same discussion.
- 39:11Speaker 1: Yeah, it was a great character Barsden. Did any of
- 39:15Speaker 1: you see this? It was a one Jerry duty.
- 39:17Speaker 2: Yeah, there was so good.
- 39:21Speaker 4: There's another there's another second?
- 39:24Speaker 1: D oh there is? Yeah, No, I haven't seen that
- 39:26Speaker 1: one yet. He's not in it. Probably isn't as good.
- 39:28Speaker 4: No, it's really good. Not maybe not as good as
- 39:31Speaker 4: the first one, but it's really good.
- 39:32Speaker 2: We enjoyed it because I think that would be hard
- 39:34Speaker 2: to duplicate.
- 39:35Speaker 4: Well, it's different, it's a different Okay, it's it's not.
- 39:38Speaker 2: The episode would would go into the bathroom where James
- 39:41Speaker 2: Barsden went to the bathroom. That was like, you know,
- 39:45Speaker 2: a lot of these stars don't aren't self deprecating. They
- 39:48Speaker 2: don't make fun of themselves the way he does. Like
- 39:51Speaker 2: I like him.
- 39:52Speaker 14: I love.
- 39:53Speaker 6: I just think it's funny that like I would have
- 39:55Speaker 6: recognized him. I guess maybe it's because I watched so
- 39:58Speaker 6: much TV and movies that I but like the guy
- 40:00Speaker 6: and Jerry Duty had had no idea who he was.
- 40:03Speaker 5: Oh really, And I was like, you don't. You don't
- 40:05Speaker 5: If he did, would have been ruined, right. I hope
- 40:08Speaker 5: that they ye. Next one is a company retreat. It's
- 40:12Speaker 5: called and it's same concept, but the company goes on
- 40:16Speaker 5: a company retreat and there's one guy that doesn't know
- 40:19Speaker 5: it's a fake company.
- 40:20Speaker 1: It's okay, the new employee or something.
- 40:22Speaker 4: Yeah, new employee just got higher.
- 40:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:25Speaker 6: And so then the same exact concept where all this
- 40:27Speaker 6: nonsense happens and the guy's like, does it is clueless
- 40:30Speaker 6: that it's all scripted?
- 40:32Speaker 1: Yeah? I like it. It's so funny that Jerry Duty
- 40:36Speaker 1: was tremendous. Yeah. I saw bits and pieces enough to
- 40:40Speaker 1: like I got. I couldn't get. I said to my
- 40:42Speaker 1: wife last night, I'm like, I gotta go back and
- 40:44Speaker 1: watch that. Yeah.
- 40:45Speaker 6: I feel like with your friends and neighbors, though, everybody
- 40:47Speaker 6: is like somebody that you're kind of supposed to hate
- 40:50Speaker 6: but also pulling for at the same.
- 40:52Speaker 2: Time and from what I love Andy, Jerry Duty made
- 40:55Speaker 2: me think of you while I was watching, because I
- 40:57Speaker 2: would imagine there was a lot of show running going
- 41:00Speaker 2: on during that show.
- 41:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 41:01Speaker 5: Sure, we've got to change this right, right, right, he's
- 41:04Speaker 5: not reacting to this, get them, Yeah, i'd have to
- 41:07Speaker 5: be very much.
- 41:07Speaker 1: I mean it's it's like reality and scripted kind of collide,
- 41:10Speaker 1: you know. That's what's kind of cool about it. Let's
- 41:13Speaker 1: go to Jake in Wisconsin. What's up, Jake?
- 41:17Speaker 10: Hey, how are we doing good?
- 41:19Speaker 15: I've got a quick questions kind of like about three
- 41:22Speaker 15: different position groups. So the first three that I'm thinking
- 41:25Speaker 15: of that are kind of like question marks, And I
- 41:28Speaker 15: think the wide receivers mostly answered, and I think that
- 41:31Speaker 15: we're going to feel really good about it as the
- 41:33Speaker 15: season goes on. But as far as the O line
- 41:36Speaker 15: and linebackers go, what's something that you guys look forward
- 41:38Speaker 15: to kind of measure success. I know you could answer
- 41:41Speaker 15: that question like with data or just by like the
- 41:43Speaker 15: season narrative, watching the games, but when we're looking at
- 41:46Speaker 15: the linebackers, O line receivers, what are you looking forward to?
- 41:49Speaker 2: Say?
- 41:49Speaker 15: All right, we got the right guys here, we got
- 41:50Speaker 15: a good group and how.
- 41:52Speaker 10: Quickly do you want to or do you expect to
- 41:54Speaker 10: see the answer that question.
- 41:55Speaker 1: I mean for the O line.
- 41:56Speaker 2: To me, it's it's the overall performance of the offense.
- 41:59Speaker 2: If the running game is efficient and Drake May's got
- 42:02Speaker 2: time to you know, relatively good time to perform, then
- 42:07Speaker 2: I to me, that means the old line's doing its job.
- 42:10Speaker 5: You know, for the linebackers, if they're making the tackles,
- 42:12Speaker 5: especially if they're making plays on the ball. I think
- 42:14Speaker 5: that's what separates great linebackers from you know, a couple
- 42:17Speaker 5: of years ago, they had devastating injuries that inside linebacker
- 42:20Speaker 5: I remember, and that was when Ellis kind of got
- 42:22Speaker 5: his break and broke through. But you know, watching a
- 42:24Speaker 5: team that doesn't have the second level players capable of
- 42:28Speaker 5: running the ball down, getting through tackles, getting around tackle
- 42:30Speaker 5: or blocks, and making plays so competitive.
- 42:34Speaker 2: Twenty thirty years ago, you could tell like what was
- 42:36Speaker 2: going on with linebackers, Like if the secondary was making
- 42:39Speaker 2: a lot of tackles, that wasn't good.
- 42:41Speaker 1: Sure, it's like if your leader.
- 42:43Speaker 2: On tackles with safety that was Now it's changed a
- 42:45Speaker 2: little bit because they play a little close to the
- 42:47Speaker 2: line and all that stuff, you know, with the third
- 42:50Speaker 2: safety and everything.
- 42:51Speaker 1: But but these guys.
- 42:52Speaker 2: But if obviously, if your linebackers are making a lot
- 42:56Speaker 2: of tackles in today's game, that's probably good.
- 42:58Speaker 5: Yeah, I think that's what they want in this system
- 43:00Speaker 5: with Spillane and Ellis, you know.
- 43:03Speaker 1: Those two speed guys.
- 43:04Speaker 5: But I got kind of a bigger point maybe I
- 43:05Speaker 5: could bring up to the group as I was like,
- 43:07Speaker 5: I know, Fred, you ponder things when you're driving sometimes
- 43:09Speaker 5: I do. I just I'm wondering about the defense as
- 43:12Speaker 5: I'm thinking, are they kind of gonna be too stuck
- 43:14Speaker 5: in nickel because they don't really have the pieces to
- 43:18Speaker 5: go down to base like a pure nose tackle, a
- 43:21Speaker 5: pure strong side linebacker. They got rid of Jennings, they
- 43:24Speaker 5: got ready to buy those bigger bodies, you know. They
- 43:26Speaker 5: brought in kJ Britt, who's and you know, have movement.
- 43:29Speaker 5: But those are again more guys that play off the ball.
- 43:32Speaker 5: But then you want to go up to you know,
- 43:34Speaker 5: dime or a quarter even, I mean, the the players
- 43:37Speaker 5: down the depth chart you think of you're starting eleven
- 43:39Speaker 5: on defense that the base you know.
- 43:40Speaker 1: Barmore, Williams, Landry, just plug them in there.
- 43:43Speaker 5: The basic eleven with Marcus Jones in the slot and
- 43:45Speaker 5: the two linebackers.
- 43:46Speaker 1: You know, you get into your dimebacks and you know,
- 43:48Speaker 1: Mike Brown, Charles Woods, Kendall vildor like so going down
- 43:52Speaker 1: or going up out of nickel. It's it gets a.
- 43:53Speaker 2: Lot of those teams that have a nose true nose
- 43:56Speaker 2: tackle is is defense in the NFL become positionless.
- 44:02Speaker 16: Where you know, I mean maybe a little in the
- 44:04Speaker 16: back end with the safeties lit with the safeties, yeah,
- 44:07Speaker 16: I mean I think that you still up front, you
- 44:10Speaker 16: still have body types that are you know, playing that
- 44:12Speaker 16: You're not going to put, you know, three hundred plus
- 44:14Speaker 16: pound guy out on the edge, just like you're not
- 44:16Speaker 16: going to put a two hundred and fifty five.
- 44:18Speaker 1: You know.
- 44:18Speaker 2: I think of the days where you had a four
- 44:20Speaker 2: to three and these four guys a line up here,
- 44:22Speaker 2: and the three linebackers a line up in the back, filling.
- 44:24Speaker 1: Gaps and all that stuff. Yeah, doesn't seem to be
- 44:27Speaker 1: that way anymore.
- 44:28Speaker 6: I would say that where we were in like a
- 44:31Speaker 6: base defense renaissance for time being, uh, and then now
- 44:35Speaker 6: teams maybe are playing a little bit more three safety
- 44:38Speaker 6: then they were pure based, so like to deuces point.
- 44:41Speaker 6: Last year, the Patriots were a heavy three corner nickel team.
- 44:45Speaker 6: They they played standard three corner nickel a lot. It
- 44:48Speaker 6: didn't burn them until the Super Bowl. They got to
- 44:51Speaker 6: the Super Bowl and Kenneth Walker won the MVP of
- 44:53Speaker 6: the Super Bowl, and that was that.
- 44:55Speaker 4: But that was brought up.
- 44:56Speaker 6: I think Dan Orlovsky might have brought it up the
- 44:58Speaker 6: first time of like, the one thing I look at
- 45:00Speaker 6: with this team is that they play a lot of
- 45:02Speaker 6: three corner nickel and if somebody commits to the run
- 45:05Speaker 6: and actually runs the ball on them, they could have
- 45:08Speaker 6: issues with dad. And it took all the way until
- 45:11Speaker 6: Santa Clara for that to pop up, but you know
- 45:14Speaker 6: that that would be one thing. And you know, I've
- 45:16Speaker 6: been a big proponent of you know, big dime or
- 45:19Speaker 6: big nickel and getting a third safety on the field.
- 45:21Speaker 6: But the Deuce's point, do they have the horses? Like
- 45:23Speaker 6: is Mike Brown good enough?
- 45:24Speaker 5: And am I being too picky with this because I'm
- 45:27Speaker 5: looking at their dime back and they're you know, like their.
- 45:30Speaker 6: No, Because that's like, you know, if everybody's going to
- 45:33Speaker 6: play multiple tight ends, which is where the offenses are headed,
- 45:37Speaker 6: where everybody's gonna play two tight ends. If you're in
- 45:39Speaker 6: three corner nickel against two tight ends, then you know
- 45:42Speaker 6: you might get run over, right, you know.
- 45:44Speaker 3: I think the secondary part of that, I don't think
- 45:46Speaker 3: you're being too picky. I'm not as worried about the
- 45:50Speaker 3: absence of Tonga.
- 45:51Speaker 1: I mean, I think I can get a guy, and
- 45:53Speaker 1: I think you can get a guy.
- 45:54Speaker 3: But even if it's it's it's like a Corey Jordan
- 45:57Speaker 3: or someone like that, you know, I think that'll be okay.
- 46:00Speaker 3: You know, that to me is more like short yardage situational.
- 46:03Speaker 3: But if you wanted to, like, could Draymond Jones just
- 46:06Speaker 3: as easily be like a strong side linebacker as opposed
- 46:10Speaker 3: to just you know, what if what if like gab backus, Yeah,
- 46:13Speaker 3: you know he's got the type I mean field out
- 46:16Speaker 3: and he's maybe he's like in every down player with Draymond,
- 46:20Speaker 3: Like if you had to do that, yeah, if you
- 46:21Speaker 3: had to do what you're talking about, I don't.
- 46:24Speaker 1: And that's what that's where that's to be an expert.
- 46:26Speaker 5: That's that's where that's not my n know because it
- 46:29Speaker 5: kind of happened last year too. It's not like you know,
- 46:31Speaker 5: like Jack Gibbons, like you know, Jelny to Bay like,
- 46:33Speaker 5: these aren't.
- 46:33Speaker 1: Pieces that made this defense go.
- 46:35Speaker 5: But you know, to Evan's point, they played the seventh
- 46:37Speaker 5: most nickel in the league and they were twenty first.
- 46:39Speaker 1: In base in dimes.
- 46:40Speaker 5: So you know, just looking at this year, I might
- 46:42Speaker 5: be thinking, I'm either going to go heavy with multiple
- 46:44Speaker 5: tight ends on them and force them to you know,
- 46:47Speaker 5: get Marcus Jones off the field, or I'm gonna spread
- 46:49Speaker 5: them out and I'm going to get down to that
- 46:51Speaker 5: fourth and fifth cornerback or third safety and I.
- 46:54Speaker 1: Try to expose those guys in coverage.
- 46:55Speaker 5: I don't want to let them be in their base,
- 46:57Speaker 5: you know, nickel defense that they usually right.
- 46:59Speaker 6: I guess the question is is like if they you know,
- 47:02Speaker 6: because that's what Seattle did. They put their two tight
- 47:04Speaker 6: ends on the field, They ran the ball, they play
- 47:06Speaker 6: action dog Marcus Jones trying to cover a tight end, right,
- 47:08Speaker 6: and they got the jatchups that way. They you know,
- 47:11Speaker 6: obviously the edges were an issue if you do that
- 47:14Speaker 6: as the Patriots, like, are you just willing to be
- 47:17Speaker 6: a little leaky against the run?
- 47:19Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 47:19Speaker 4: Like, are you willing to kind of.
- 47:20Speaker 1: Get My answer to that would be yes, Yeah, I'm
- 47:22Speaker 1: perfectly with that, And I would.
- 47:24Speaker 3: Take the Super Bowl over again based on the amount
- 47:27Speaker 3: of field goals they forced. If the offense had done anything,
- 47:31Speaker 3: the game's different. And maybe Seattle can't run the ball
- 47:34Speaker 3: as effectively as they did in the second half because
- 47:37Speaker 3: the Patriots are scoring and they're forcing you to do
- 47:39Speaker 3: something different.
- 47:40Speaker 1: You know.
- 47:41Speaker 3: I think they were able to play that way because
- 47:43Speaker 3: they controlled the game from start to finish.
- 47:45Speaker 1: It declared early.
- 47:46Speaker 6: That's but that's like the Marcus Jones of it all
- 47:48Speaker 6: is just the body type thing.
- 47:49Speaker 1: You got it? You know, like you.
- 47:53Speaker 6: On a tight end, like is that a good matchup
- 47:55Speaker 6: for the Patriots if you play more dime, Like maybe
- 47:58Speaker 6: he finds a role further away from the ball, you know,
- 48:01Speaker 6: in the back end, like at safety, and you can
- 48:04Speaker 6: put a bigger body in the nickel spot in that way,
- 48:07Speaker 6: you know, you can match up body on body with
- 48:09Speaker 6: tight ends. I think that Dad's probably like, that's not
- 48:13Speaker 6: why they're going to like not make the playoffs, but
- 48:15Speaker 6: that when you get into these matchups in the playoffs,
- 48:18Speaker 6: like these are the things that could decide those types
- 48:20Speaker 6: of games.
- 48:21Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, all right, Uh Christian in La, what's going on?
- 48:26Speaker 9: Hey?
- 48:26Speaker 12: You guys, say you guys, say you guys. So you know,
- 48:30Speaker 12: I got a thing in my call about the stores
- 48:33Speaker 12: by kid, and I think it seems like everyone's going
- 48:35Speaker 12: a little a little easy on him. I mean, this
- 48:38Speaker 12: kid made five million dollars in college. Let let's let's
- 48:42Speaker 12: keep that perspective. And he still thought it was a
- 48:44Speaker 12: good idea to.
- 48:46Speaker 10: Place nine thousand bets on football. But he's got a
- 48:51Speaker 10: kid that you know, was feeling good about his team
- 48:54Speaker 10: and thought like, hey, let me take a shot. Need
- 48:56Speaker 10: a better to nine thousand bets?
- 48:59Speaker 1: Is that true? Nine thousand, nine thousands.
- 49:02Speaker 3: I just want to know what which part of being
- 49:04Speaker 3: banned is being too easy on them?
- 49:07Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 49:07Speaker 10: The fact that everyone's talking about giving him another chance,
- 49:09Speaker 10: well maybe you know, well, he'll get another chance eventually,
- 49:12Speaker 10: but he's he can't play for a year, right, That's.
- 49:17Speaker 1: That to me.
- 49:18Speaker 10: Listen to listen to my logic here, because I don't
- 49:21Speaker 10: think this kid is there's an or belongs in the
- 49:23Speaker 10: league and the way the league is changing, especially coming
- 49:26Speaker 10: from college where that's right, there are kids getting paid
- 49:29Speaker 10: now to be in college, and yes, what are they
- 49:31Speaker 10: going to do with that that money? And things like
- 49:33Speaker 10: the new gambling rules and laws all around the country
- 49:37Speaker 10: with you know, online gambling and stuff. This is a
- 49:40Speaker 10: serious issue for kids that are in jellens.
- 49:42Speaker 1: And maybe that's why he's been banned. That money right, YEP,
- 49:45Speaker 1: I totally agree.
- 49:46Speaker 10: So he gets a one year banned. But then you're
- 49:48Speaker 10: asking no minimum team that's that's find Paul. But now
- 49:52Speaker 10: you're asking an NFL team to take this kid that
- 49:55Speaker 10: obviously has some character and some judgments and huge ones
- 49:59Speaker 10: making fight million dollars and it's fighting to bet on football.
- 50:01Speaker 2: Well, they got rid of the supplemental draft, so no
- 50:03Speaker 2: one can take them.
- 50:04Speaker 3: That's exactly right. Just like Calvin Ridley got banned for
- 50:07Speaker 3: a year, but you got.
- 50:08Speaker 10: To talking them with bands for a year. Calvin Ridley
- 50:10Speaker 10: is a wide receiver. He's not the face, the face
- 50:13Speaker 10: of the franchise. He's not the one that is acting.
- 50:16Speaker 3: We got another We got another logical argument. It depends
- 50:19Speaker 3: what position you play, whether it's.
- 50:22Speaker 4: But I guess what what do you want them to do?
- 50:24Speaker 4: Christian band for life?
- 50:26Speaker 1: He wants some band for life.
- 50:28Speaker 10: And say, you know what, I'm not going to put
- 50:30Speaker 10: my put that in my franchise.
- 50:32Speaker 4: I'm not gonna put well, it's up to all the
- 50:33Speaker 4: thirty two teams.
- 50:35Speaker 2: The last that's what I was getting, your last, your
- 50:37Speaker 2: last few calls. They've always been from a very high
- 50:40Speaker 2: moral high ground. Is this an awakening that you've had
- 50:43Speaker 2: that you are the arbiter of good morals for patriots unfiltered?
- 50:48Speaker 2: It seems a new path that you've taken, that you
- 50:51Speaker 2: are the judge and jury of everybody these days.
- 50:54Speaker 10: Look, if no one else is willing to call out
- 50:56Speaker 10: some of these things, I'm willing.
- 50:57Speaker 1: Okay, Well, that's fine, that's okay. So goodness, that's Christian.
- 51:01Speaker 1: Thank goodness for you Christian.
- 51:03Speaker 2: We're gonna call you Judge Christian from now on. So
- 51:05Speaker 2: that's good about Saint Saint Christian.
- 51:08Speaker 3: Okay, thank goodness to have somebody that's all right to
- 51:12Speaker 3: say banning him is not enough.
- 51:14Speaker 2: As long as he's owning it, that's that's fine. We
- 51:16Speaker 2: know that when Christian calls, he's got some type of
- 51:18Speaker 2: craw in his gullet uh for uh for for something
- 51:25Speaker 2: that's going on in the world that he objects to.
- 51:27Speaker 1: That's that's fine, isn't it though?
- 51:28Speaker 6: Like it's kind of like when we talk about like
- 51:31Speaker 6: national laws versus state laws, where it's like all thirty
- 51:34Speaker 6: two teams got to vet him and decide whether or
- 51:36Speaker 6: not they want to take him or not. So like
- 51:39Speaker 6: next year, and if he is, if it does, he
- 51:41Speaker 6: does have to wait till the twenty twenty seven draft.
- 51:44Speaker 6: He might go undrafted, right, you know, and he might.
- 51:46Speaker 3: Be the first overall pick.
- 51:48Speaker 1: Right again, I couldn't agree that it's.
- 51:52Speaker 4: I don't know is that true.
- 51:53Speaker 3: I don't think you want to look into the amount
- 51:55Speaker 3: of bets that other people have made. I just would
- 51:58Speaker 3: just why not, because I don't think you'd like some
- 52:01Speaker 3: of the interests that people that are playing right.
- 52:02Speaker 6: Now if you want to, like I would, it's got
- 52:06Speaker 6: to stop. If the Arizona Cardinals vetted him and did
- 52:10Speaker 6: their homework and decide it's worth the risk because he's
- 52:13Speaker 6: so talented, then like, why should they stop the Arizona
- 52:16Speaker 6: Cardinals in twenty twenty seven from drafting the kid? If
- 52:19Speaker 6: that's it, But then it's on the Arizona Cardinals on and.
- 52:24Speaker 3: Off their boards every year. There are guys for various
- 52:28Speaker 3: reasons that are you know. And I understand what Fred's
- 52:30Speaker 3: point is about the gambling aspect, whether or not. So
- 52:35Speaker 3: this is a quarterback who wasn't playing in the game,
- 52:37Speaker 3: that was betting and supposedly has Christians so worried that
- 52:41Speaker 3: he was impacting the outcome of the game.
- 52:44Speaker 1: You know that too.
- 52:45Speaker 3: Right at Indiana he wasn't playing, really, he only played
- 52:48Speaker 3: at Cincinnati, yep.
- 52:50Speaker 1: But he could be giving out information.
- 52:52Speaker 3: Of course he could, right, That's why you can't allow
- 52:54Speaker 3: him to play.
- 52:55Speaker 1: But that is why. That's why he was right.
- 52:58Speaker 2: And and your thing is that if you found him
- 53:00Speaker 2: guilty of throwing a.
- 53:01Speaker 1: Game, but then I would say that's worse.
- 53:03Speaker 2: But Evan, like you're thinking, like, if a team wants
- 53:05Speaker 2: to take the risk, why shouldn't you allow them to
- 53:07Speaker 2: I think there are some cases where if the evidence
- 53:12Speaker 2: is out there when it comes to gambling or like
- 53:15Speaker 2: the Ray Rice thing. I mean, that's why they started
- 53:17Speaker 2: the commissioners exempless, Yeah, so that the league would take
- 53:21Speaker 2: it out of the hands.
- 53:22Speaker 1: Of the team.
- 53:23Speaker 3: Right, But that's what's happening right now. That's basically what
- 53:25Speaker 3: they just did, which is okay with me. Sure, that's
- 53:27Speaker 3: what total totally.
- 53:28Speaker 6: I'm just saying in twenty like Christian wants the kid
- 53:30Speaker 6: banned for life, Like in twenty twenty seven, I don't
- 53:32Speaker 6: say that when the draft comes around and he's in
- 53:35Speaker 6: the draft, then it's up to the Cleveland Browns and
- 53:38Speaker 6: the Arizona Cardinals and the New York Jets and the
- 53:40Speaker 6: New England Patriots and everybody else.
- 53:42Speaker 1: When he's eligible, then it's the team's decisions.
- 53:44Speaker 4: Yeah, that's all I'm saying.
- 53:45Speaker 2: Yep, Shane in New York City at the beginning of
- 53:50Speaker 2: today's podcast, I believe I could be wrong, but I
- 53:53Speaker 2: heard some New York nick slander. In New York, the
- 53:56Speaker 2: general feeling is still utter disbelief that the Knicks want
- 53:59Speaker 2: it Tompionship, and eleven days later, the news is still
- 54:03Speaker 2: centered around the Knicks. Personally, I wouldn't mind if this
- 54:06Speaker 2: lasted another fifty three years, but to watch this franchise
- 54:10Speaker 2: suffer for all twenty nine years of my life, I
- 54:12Speaker 2: think this is a warranted, celebrated fine. We said in
- 54:15Speaker 2: New York, it's still a big deal, but the rest of.
- 54:17Speaker 4: The country's moved on for a terrible period.
- 54:19Speaker 3: Soccer goes still a barrel soccer mile take.
- 54:23Speaker 2: Excluding yesterday's performance against the weaker opponent, Portugal is better
- 54:27Speaker 2: off without Cristiano Ronaldo than they are with him.
- 54:31Speaker 1: Wow, what do you think.
- 54:34Speaker 4: We all look at Alex not the first person to
- 54:37Speaker 4: have that opinion.
- 54:37Speaker 1: Really, you think he's holding them back.
- 54:40Speaker 8: I think it's a pretty common opinion right now.
- 54:42Speaker 4: I think they have better players.
- 54:43Speaker 7: He's forty one years old, they're very, very deep, and
- 54:47Speaker 7: he's the striker. I mean, I don't know what you
- 54:50Speaker 7: do though, because he's also Cristiano Ronaldo. He changed the
- 54:53Speaker 7: whole trajectory of your nation, Like we had Luis Figo
- 54:57Speaker 7: before him, but it wasn't Ronaldo. It's a place I
- 55:00Speaker 7: wouldn't want to be in making these substitution calls.
- 55:05Speaker 4: They had they had.
- 55:06Speaker 6: I don't think that he's holding them back because I
- 55:09Speaker 6: think they have better players. Like I think those are
- 55:11Speaker 6: two different things. Like, I don't think he's out there
- 55:13Speaker 6: sabotaging them that they're he's on the field. I think
- 55:16Speaker 6: that Portugal now has kind of outgrown him.
- 55:19Speaker 1: I think they have they'd be better if he wasn't
- 55:21Speaker 1: on the team. Maybe, so he's holding.
- 55:25Speaker 4: Them back in that sense.
- 55:26Speaker 7: Yeah, I think a lot of people are making that
- 55:28Speaker 7: judgment off of just their first game in the World
- 55:30Speaker 7: Cup though, And I.
- 55:31Speaker 8: Don't know, I don't think they were gelling.
- 55:32Speaker 7: Well, I don't think they were they were not really
- 55:35Speaker 7: moving the ball with any tempo or pace. And this
- 55:39Speaker 7: isn't going to mean anything to you, guys because you
- 55:40Speaker 7: didn't see the game, but like they just weren't playing
- 55:43Speaker 7: that well, and then they played really well yesterday, yes
- 55:45Speaker 7: against like a very bad opponent. But what if it
- 55:47Speaker 7: was just like kinks they were working out and like
- 55:51Speaker 7: organizational chemistry stuff, you know, right.
- 55:53Speaker 6: I think the issue that like the reason why, like
- 55:55Speaker 6: some people are saying, like to the holding him back thing,
- 55:58Speaker 6: there's some people are saying that he's like being selfish
- 56:01Speaker 6: on the field and like he's shooting and like hogging
- 56:05Speaker 6: the ball, so to speak, because he wants to shine,
- 56:08Speaker 6: you know, he wants to be the star of the
- 56:10Speaker 6: team sort of thing. So that's been the criticism of his.
- 56:14Speaker 2: His postgame interview clearly tells us that he's hearing all this.
- 56:19Speaker 1: Criticism and it bothers him. Yeah. I don't know if
- 56:22Speaker 1: you saw that.
- 56:23Speaker 3: I just think I saw that he said I'm back
- 56:25Speaker 3: when he scored his first goal. He I said something
- 56:27Speaker 3: right into the camera. Yeah, like he was very I'm back.
- 56:30Speaker 4: I just think it's something.
- 56:32Speaker 6: It's crazy to see the difference between how good Messi
- 56:36Speaker 6: is playing and is still playing versus Ronaldo, Like I
- 56:40Speaker 6: think Messi has just been unbelievable.
- 56:42Speaker 2: Messie's incredible. He's something else well from Cranston. Looking forward
- 56:48Speaker 2: to some football soon with training camp only a little
- 56:51Speaker 2: more than a month away. But I've been speaking in
- 56:53Speaker 2: the barbershop about how the defense has potential to be loaded.
- 56:58Speaker 2: I'm extremely excited about Age Brown and Gillian being signed. However,
- 57:02Speaker 2: I feel like we are forgetting how electric our defense is.
- 57:06Speaker 2: With Gonzo and Davis taking away number one options and
- 57:09Speaker 2: a ballhawk like Bayered and a developing Woodson, an underrated
- 57:14Speaker 2: linebacker corps with Splaine and Christian Ellis as well as
- 57:17Speaker 2: Williams and Barmore in the middle, I truly believe they
- 57:20Speaker 2: could take the team to a new level to provide
- 57:22Speaker 2: the offense with more opportunities barring catastrophic injury. I have
- 57:26Speaker 2: a hard time seeing us not making the playoff push.
- 57:29Speaker 2: Let me know your thoughts.
- 57:31Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I think I feel similar with the
- 57:34Speaker 5: three corner Nickel like we just talked about. But you know,
- 57:36Speaker 5: after that, it's the questions about the depth and will
- 57:39Speaker 5: opponents be able to get them out of their game?
- 57:40Speaker 1: And he said the last part to me.
- 57:42Speaker 5: He's just injuries, because it's just it's a very good
- 57:44Speaker 5: defense at the top. You feel great, and I hate
- 57:46Speaker 5: to be like, yeah, but you know, but I think
- 57:48Speaker 5: we're still looking to build the depth up behind those
- 57:51Speaker 5: guys so that you know, you know em and Worry
- 57:53Speaker 5: came in last year to the Seahawks and kind of
- 57:55Speaker 5: changed their defense as that extra piece, you know, like
- 57:58Speaker 5: that next guy up, and it gave them a lot
- 58:01Speaker 5: of flexibility. And if I do have one concern about
- 58:04Speaker 5: the defense, it's just do they have that flexibility week
- 58:07Speaker 5: in week out to play the way that they're.
- 58:09Speaker 1: Gonna need to versus different types of opponents, you know.
- 58:11Speaker 5: And I think Evan's point about the rise of the
- 58:13Speaker 5: three tight ends and that's kind of in vogue right now.
- 58:15Speaker 5: And you know, just when you look at the Patriots roster,
- 58:18Speaker 5: it's just when you think from a chess match, like, so,
- 58:20Speaker 5: what's your plan against you know, when week one against.
- 58:22Speaker 1: Seattle, you know, like they're gonna have to deal with
- 58:25Speaker 1: that stuff.
- 58:25Speaker 6: I just wonder too, like they they got so aggressive
- 58:28Speaker 6: in the playoffs, and was that a we can do
- 58:31Speaker 6: this over a three or four game span. Can you
- 58:33Speaker 6: do that over seventeen. Like, can you be a team
- 58:36Speaker 6: that's playing over forty percent of your downs in man coverage,
- 58:40Speaker 6: a forty plus percent blitz rate, and you're just six
- 58:44Speaker 6: guys in the US and we're trusted the back you know,
- 58:48Speaker 6: Christian Zales and Carlon Davis and Marcus Jones to just
- 58:51Speaker 6: cover their guys.
- 58:52Speaker 1: You have blizzards, you know.
- 58:54Speaker 6: Like that was how they became dominant in the playoffs.
- 58:57Speaker 6: Was they turned up like that was like, yeah, they
- 59:01Speaker 6: turned up the gas. You know, they attacked literally and
- 59:04Speaker 6: so is that I think during the regular season they
- 59:07Speaker 6: weren't quite as dominant because they were playing more of
- 59:11Speaker 6: a safer brand of defense where it was we Gate
- 59:14Speaker 6: in Tennessee and we're not going to put you know,
- 59:17Speaker 6: cam Ward a hundred times because that why would we
- 59:19Speaker 6: you know, we're gonna win this game.
- 59:22Speaker 2: Dookie Bell is from Scotland, one of our friends from Scotland.
- 59:24Speaker 1: No Scotland, no party.
- 59:26Speaker 2: He says, there's a myth about grass pitches not being
- 59:29Speaker 2: multi uses over here in Scotland. Our major stadiums all
- 59:32Speaker 2: have grass pitches and they all stage concerts, box boxing.
- 59:36Speaker 2: For an example, I'm gonna watch Metallica tomorrow at Hampden Park,
- 59:40Speaker 2: home of the Scotland national team, with no problems. Rubber
- 59:43Speaker 2: matting covers the grass and the pitch is completely protected
- 59:47Speaker 2: and no damage is done. This happens all over Europe.
- 59:51Speaker 2: Keep up the good work. So maybe maybe we're wrong
- 59:53Speaker 2: about that.
- 59:54Speaker 1: Maybe you can do it. I don't know, that's always
- 59:56Speaker 1: the justification.
- 59:58Speaker 4: I don't know. Maybe maybe we are like us.
- 1:00:00Speaker 7: Feel like a cop out though, like artists still do Europe.
- 1:00:03Speaker 7: It's not like musicians don't go do big European tours.
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:00:08Speaker 5: I just remember what that turf was like before they
- 1:00:11Speaker 5: replaced it that lost to the Jets in two thousand
- 1:00:12Speaker 5: and six, of how crappy the field looked and how
- 1:00:15Speaker 5: you know, it's like fields don't look like that anymore,
- 1:00:17Speaker 5: you know, Like I don't know, it's it's weird too
- 1:00:20Speaker 5: because in my town it's a huge debate about wanting
- 1:00:23Speaker 5: to put turf in.
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: They have a grass field that's terrible.
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: I totally, I totally would say high schools, if they can,
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: should definitely go to turf.
- 1:00:32Speaker 4: Yeah, we played on turf that's exactly the same as this.
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: Turf and you and that's Needham Turf has been there
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: for twenty ish, I mean not the date you have.
- 1:00:40Speaker 5: Yeah, maybe ten years fifteen. But you know, it's just
- 1:00:43Speaker 5: it's interesting to be on that side of it.
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: I understand why high schools need to say yeah, and
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: the cities and towns need to save the money on
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: maintenance because it's it's a big expense, you know. Any
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: my kids probably played a fewer than five games in
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: their high school careers on grass. Yeah, and every one
- 1:00:59Speaker 3: of them was a bleep show. Yeah, yeah, a horrific.
- 1:01:04Speaker 7: Well, they'll only put in turf like in the last
- 1:01:06Speaker 7: couple of years. But I remember growing up it was
- 1:01:09Speaker 7: right near a swamp kind of behind behind the high school.
- 1:01:12Speaker 7: It's like marshy and if it would rain a lot,
- 1:01:14Speaker 7: there would be puddles on the soccer field. But it
- 1:01:16Speaker 7: was an advantage because, like we knew how to contain
- 1:01:20Speaker 7: a forward to the sideline where.
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: The puddles were the dead spots.
- 1:01:23Speaker 7: You just watch your girl tribble the ball into the
- 1:01:25Speaker 7: puddle and just wait and just watch and take it.
- 1:01:29Speaker 8: And it was like.
- 1:01:30Speaker 6: They turned the air conditioning off to make sure they
- 1:01:33Speaker 6: didn't have any cold water and hot water.
- 1:01:35Speaker 4: In the showers.
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: Tell you, one of the worst experiences I've had at
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: a high school stadium, you know, watching my kid was
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: up in Burlington, and they mowed the lawn and they
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: put these huge mounds of wet grass under the stands,
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: so it was just filled with mosquitoes. Oh like, and
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: like you sit in the stands, like where are they
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: coming from? And you look underneath these huge amounts in
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: the mosquitos everywhere everywhere.
- 1:02:04Speaker 8: You're planning attack, bad planning.
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: Simon and Dublin.
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: I wanted to get your thoughts on NFL press boxes
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: being behind glass and insulated from the sound of the crowd.
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: Here in Europe, our press boxes are largely outdoors, so
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: you get to.
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: Because you're all smoking. You can't put it indoors.
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: I'm not kidding either, so you get the experience, the
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: full atmosphere. And I have heard a lot of European
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: journalists who are covering the World Cup complaining about feeling
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: separate from the action. I've not been to get Gillette,
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: but from listening to you guys, I know it has
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: an indoor press box. So I wanted to hear what
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: you think of watching Patriots game this way and whether
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: you would prefer to sit outside and take in the
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: atmosphere and ps I'm loving Paul's growing affection for soccer
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: and the World Cup.
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: Don't deny it. Paul and Fred's suggestion.
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: On Thursday of negative points for draw, only to be
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: immediately shot down by Alex genuinely had me in tears.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: That was good.
- 1:03:04Speaker 3: So the Gellette Stadium one actually has little one of both.
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: Like the red level, you can actually open the windows
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: right and outside if you want.
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: I do hear what he's saying, though, because there are
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: a lot of indoor stadiums that don't have glass and
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: like for example Indie and Minnesota and Minnesota where Vegan,
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: you are part of it, and it is it is
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: nice to you know here in uh you know all
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: that stuff without the glass installation. However, you know there's
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: press box announcements that we rely on and you can't
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: hear it, and you can't hear those, so there's a
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: trade off.
- 1:03:39Speaker 6: I would say that it's the weather like, yeah, but
- 1:03:44Speaker 6: it's an indoor stadium, then open air press box definitely
- 1:03:48Speaker 6: here you want in January, I do not want to
- 1:03:51Speaker 6: be in an open, open.
- 1:03:52Speaker 7: Air press We cracked the window for the Chargers game
- 1:03:55Speaker 7: and the Houston game on the red level because it
- 1:03:57Speaker 7: was so electric. We want it. I was like, I
- 1:03:59Speaker 7: kind of want to hear it out there. It's awesome.
- 1:04:02Speaker 7: And we cracked it and just kind of.
- 1:04:03Speaker 5: Dealt with the gust of Yeah, I kind of missed
- 1:04:06Speaker 5: the atmosphere, you know, and we sit I know, yeah,
- 1:04:08Speaker 5: we're on opposite being in.
- 1:04:10Speaker 7: The warmth cracked. You can hear it, but I'm still
- 1:04:13Speaker 7: sitting there in comfort, eating my clam chowder.
- 1:04:15Speaker 6: You no, I'm not going to be cold. So I
- 1:04:18Speaker 6: enjoy my climate. I enjoy my climate controlled environment when
- 1:04:21Speaker 6: it when it suits me, whether it's really hot or
- 1:04:24Speaker 6: it's really cold, I want no part of it. But
- 1:04:26Speaker 6: when we go into the domes and they're open air,
- 1:04:29Speaker 6: it's pretty cool.
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: It is cool.
- 1:04:30Speaker 6: When we were in UH in Frankfurt it was open air.
- 1:04:34Speaker 6: London was open air too, So I guess that the
- 1:04:37Speaker 6: stadiums that we have been to overseas have been open air.
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: But I've been to a lot of open airs.
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: I don't like.
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: I mean, are you covering the game or are you
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: there as a fan?
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: Right? Those are those are your choices, right?
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: If the atmosphere, if the atmosphere is important to you,
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: put your put your ticket in the sands.
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: We don't think the atmosphere is important.
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: You can tell to a to a like to a writer,
- 1:05:02Speaker 3: you can't tell when when the crowd is excited, but
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: you can.
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: Tell when it's raucus.
- 1:05:07Speaker 5: I have trouble with that, really, I don't. I can't
- 1:05:10Speaker 5: really tell that. I can't tell the difference really between
- 1:05:12Speaker 5: I mean I have much of the Monday night game
- 1:05:17Speaker 5: against the Giants, uh with the with that was that
- 1:05:20Speaker 5: the Rivalries game last year.
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: I think.
- 1:05:23Speaker 5: The game and that was there was one that I
- 1:05:27Speaker 5: was like, this place hasn't been like this like and
- 1:05:29Speaker 5: that was maybe a little more preaking. But generally, I
- 1:05:31Speaker 5: feel like in the press box you're just kind of
- 1:05:33Speaker 5: it's neutral.
- 1:05:34Speaker 4: I mean you feel it.
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: Down, you can feel a little bit.
- 1:05:38Speaker 5: I couldn't go through any of those games and be
- 1:05:40Speaker 5: like that was a good atmosphere that wasn't like it
- 1:05:41Speaker 5: all feels the same to me.
- 1:05:43Speaker 6: Nothing drives me crazier that grade the atmosphere. It really
- 1:05:48Speaker 6: drives me nuts.
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: But when it comes to smoking, I'm not kidding. When
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: we're in Frankfurt for the game, I mean we're in
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: the outdoor press bot. I was covered, but we're outdoor
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: press and like the smoke was all over everyone.
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: Just in the crowd, not even because.
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: You're literally like I almost was that as the press boss.
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: And here Paul's a fan. That's how close I was
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: to the fans. And they're like, hey, can we see
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: your your you know, your sheets? Like I gave him
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: my uh he autographed it and they wanted my flip
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: card I said. I just said, yeah, you can have it.
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: I just gave it to him. But everyone's smoking. Everyone's smoking.
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: It was nobody in the press box still, just like
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: with one they used to all in the old Oakland Stadium.
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: We're playing the Raiders and uh it was a really cold,
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: windy day and this thud had the window open in
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: the front like you know he he was like, you know, football,
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: you keep the window open. Was I the one that
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: told him to close? You were one of many? Yeah,
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: but it was it was the windows coming and everything everywhere.
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: That's football. We gotta keep the window open. Finally, everyone
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: just said close the freaking window.
- 1:06:57Speaker 6: That's a valid point as well, like we have paper,
- 1:07:03Speaker 6: so you guys, ever remember like a journal is going
- 1:07:05Speaker 6: to stay not hire guy on your notes app Nobody
- 1:07:09Speaker 6: ever drink.
- 1:07:10Speaker 4: Everybody ever drank?
- 1:07:10Speaker 5: Like, was there ever like a journalist or like a
- 1:07:12Speaker 5: newspaper guy, Like, is that something that was like.
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: Having a whiskey while they're driving like they're writing. I
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: don't know.
- 1:07:19Speaker 5: I feel like that's an old school the favorite kind
- 1:07:21Speaker 5: of thing.
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: I'm not sure that still happens.
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: No, absolutely, but you read some of olas. It's gotta

- 1:09:51Speaker 1: takeaways here? Is we kind of wrap up the off
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: season and get ready to look at training camp.
- 1:09:55Speaker 3: Yeah, Mike, you and I talked after Wednesday's walkthrough and
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: just about the comfort, know, just the visible comfort level
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: that you can see on Drake May and I think
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: it permeates the offense. And you know, we talked about
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: Brown just throw one sort of maybe thing that I'm
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: looking to see a little bit more of a cautionary
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: flag is I don't think it's been as impressive when
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: Romeo Dobbs has been you know, involved, not pushing any
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: you know, bat signals up or anything, any warning signs.
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: But aj Brown looks effortless and they seem like they're
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: on the same page right away.
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: I think it's still a work in progress with Dobbs, Yeah,
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: I would say too.
- 1:10:32Speaker 6: Down the field, like Romeo, Dobbs has caught a few
- 1:10:34Speaker 6: under route slants things over the middle of the field.
- 1:10:37Speaker 6: But you hope that the explosive plays are coming a
- 1:10:40Speaker 6: little bit more once they get out into the field.
- 1:10:42Speaker 6: Now they work so much in the red zone that
- 1:10:44Speaker 6: you don't really see We saw maybe a flash of
- 1:10:46Speaker 6: ye corner.
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: Yeah, don't know. Yeah, depending on how to report you
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: were rooting for. I think he was out of bounds.
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: I was right there. I think he was out of bound.
- 1:10:54Speaker 4: Yeah, but I think I actually thought he was in
- 1:10:55Speaker 4: Mike believe see controversial.
- 1:10:57Speaker 6: I think that The number one thing that I come
- 1:10:59Speaker 6: up with, though, is just it feels like we're back
- 1:11:02Speaker 6: to having a lot of first world problems and not
- 1:11:04Speaker 6: as many do. They have twenty two NFL players to
- 1:11:07Speaker 6: start this season like we were a couple of years ago.
- 1:11:10Speaker 6: Where now I feel myself talking about depth in a
- 1:11:12Speaker 6: lot of different places running back, tight end, linebacker, corner, safety,
- 1:11:17Speaker 6: and not so much about, you know, the frontline guys,
- 1:11:20Speaker 6: and I think that that's a sign of a good team.
- 1:11:21Speaker 6: And we're not talking about a daily referendum on the quarterback.
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: Is he the guy?
- 1:11:26Speaker 4: Is he not the guy?
- 1:11:27Speaker 6: Like that's put to bed. The number one receiver thing
- 1:11:29Speaker 6: is put to bed. The offensive line seems like it's
- 1:11:32Speaker 6: coming together a little bit, and they have pieces now
- 1:11:34Speaker 6: and some depth even on the offensive line with Lomu
- 1:11:37Speaker 6: being sort of an extra guy for this year. So overall,
- 1:11:39Speaker 6: I just feel like we're we're talking about back end
- 1:11:42Speaker 6: of the roster except one position, which is your favorite, Mike,
- 1:11:45Speaker 6: the edge rush. I was just about to get into it.
- 1:11:46Speaker 6: That's the one hole that I feel as though in
- 1:11:50Speaker 6: January or even February, when we're talking about why they
- 1:11:52Speaker 6: didn't hoist the Lombardi at the end of the season,
- 1:11:55Speaker 6: is it Do they have enough juice off the edge
- 1:11:57Speaker 6: in the pass rush. But other than that, I like
- 1:12:00Speaker 6: all the other, uh, you know, small sea concerns are
- 1:12:03Speaker 6: just basically.
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: Oh, well, yeah, you're a good team.
- 1:12:06Speaker 10: Now.
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: Well.
- 1:12:07Speaker 5: I thought it was interesting today Mike rabel before asked
- 1:12:09Speaker 5: specifically about the edge position, and he said, they like
- 1:12:11Speaker 5: what they have right now it's without Harold Landry out there,
- 1:12:14Speaker 5: without Gabe Acis learned a little bit more about Acus.
- 1:12:17Speaker 5: I guess we'll see what happens when we get to
- 1:12:18Speaker 5: training camp, but I do think that is the one position.
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: Otherwise, you look across.
- 1:12:21Speaker 5: The roster right now, Paul, if their top line guys
- 1:12:24Speaker 5: are ready to go, this looks like a team that
- 1:12:25Speaker 5: that's ready to get back into it and compete for
- 1:12:27Speaker 5: the division.
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: Yeah. I like the way Evan put it too.
- 1:12:29Speaker 3: It's you know, at this time last year, we're wondering
- 1:12:32Speaker 3: how all the pieces were going to fit together. Now
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: I think you have an idea that Mike Rabel and
- 1:12:36Speaker 3: his staff understand how to put it all together. Now
- 1:12:39Speaker 3: it's a matter of keeping everybody healthy. And I believe
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: that might have been the end of you know, this
- 1:12:45Speaker 3: final practice. All of a sudden, there's a little bit
- 1:12:47Speaker 3: of a pile up and Drake may N's up on
- 1:12:49Speaker 3: the ground. I think Mike Rabel at that point had
- 1:12:51Speaker 3: seen enough and the whistle called everybody up, and you know,
- 1:12:55Speaker 3: none none for the worse for wear.
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: But that would be my lone concern right now.
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: I think they have starting caliber players at every spot,
- 1:13:03Speaker 3: which is what I would have said last year, and
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: I would have been really concerned about the depth last
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: year never really came to fruition. Same thing holds true now.
- 1:13:11Speaker 3: A lot of small sea, like Evan said, small sea concerns.
- 1:13:14Speaker 5: Yeah, well see where they're tested this year, and they
- 1:13:15Speaker 5: had great injury luck last year. See if that continues
- 1:13:18Speaker 5: into this season. Well that's going to wrap it up
- 1:13:20Speaker 5: for mini camp at least until training camp. Course will
- 1:13:22Speaker 5: be back then and check out the full schedule on
- 1:13:24Speaker 5: Patriots dot com. We've got a joint practice against the Colts.
- 1:13:26Speaker 5: We've got two joint practices against the Eagles. It's a
- 1:13:29Speaker 5: great take to get down here. Obviously a lot of
- 1:13:31Speaker 5: talent on this Patriots team, slowly built.
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: And now great moments in history. How are we going
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: to do this? Who's going to go first? Well?
- 1:13:42Speaker 3: I have it, Mike alex Evan, Paul Fred, Mike alex Evan.
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: How's that? What's clockwise? Mike?
- 1:13:53Speaker 8: Go the way of a clock?
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: That was a shot?
- 1:13:56Speaker 4: I haven't, I haven't, y Boomer, I look at my phone,
- 1:14:05Speaker 4: your apartment.
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: That's another great moment from.
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: All right back here on Patriots Sunfield today. Five five Pats,
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: five hundred is the hotline podcast at Patriots dot com
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: is the email address. We're talking everything everything you name it.
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: Bill in Norfolk, Virginia writes in one off season suggestion
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: I would have for you p U, for PU is
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: to have one scheduled off season day where we talk
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: nothing but conspiracy topics. With that being said, just checking
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: in to see if qlex has seen Age of Disclosure.
- 1:14:39Speaker 8: God, I take so much offense to that.
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: Disclosure what's that about?
- 1:14:46Speaker 8: M pretty much everything? I think we were talking to
- 1:14:49Speaker 8: you on that one.
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: Like that one day? Is that the Spielberg one? Yep, Yeah,
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: I thought it was Disclosure Day. It's called yeah, right,
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: So I didn't know this was the same thing. Is
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: there another one called Age of Disclosure? Let's find out
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: because I know Disclosure Day? Yeah, you taught me that. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: I haven't seen it yet.
- 1:15:08Speaker 8: That's what I told you.
- 1:15:09Speaker 7: They're going to desensitize us and then tell us about
- 1:15:12Speaker 7: aliens with this movie.
- 1:15:14Speaker 6: I get myself in trouble with conspiracy theories. I don't know,
- 1:15:18Speaker 6: it's not not my lane.
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a documentary, the Age of Disclosure. The documentary
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: Yeah about UFOs. Oh, so that's definitely different. It's totally different. Yeah,
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: it's not the film Disclosure Day you saw a UFO
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: called Disclosure.
- 1:15:35Speaker 6: I wasn't alone, so my friends could vouch. We're all together, Okay,
- 1:15:39Speaker 6: saw it on the lake up in New Hampshire.
- 1:15:41Speaker 8: How did you not bring this up like three weeks ago?
- 1:15:44Speaker 4: I don't know. Most people are like, no, you didn't.
- 1:15:46Speaker 4: What does it look like like a UFO song?
- 1:15:51Speaker 10: I know?
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: But did you get talk about it? I was doing
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: years ago.
- 1:16:01Speaker 4: We were we know, we were too young for that.
- 1:16:04Speaker 6: We were out on a friend of mine is going
- 1:16:07Speaker 6: to sound very pretentious, his houseboat, right, and it was
- 1:16:10Speaker 6: we were sleeping over outside on the boat because we
- 1:16:13Speaker 6: thought it'd be fun to do that. So we were
- 1:16:15Speaker 6: we were out on the boat and on the lake
- 1:16:18Speaker 6: and there was just an unidentified object that was flying over.
- 1:16:22Speaker 6: And this was way before low altitude or was a
- 1:16:26Speaker 6: low altitude and this was like way before drones, like
- 1:16:28Speaker 6: this was you know, probably I don't know, two thousand
- 1:16:32Speaker 6: and six or something like that, Like this is way
- 1:16:34Speaker 6: before all that kind of stuff. And it wasn't a plane.
- 1:16:37Speaker 6: It would wasn't a blimp or anything like that. We
- 1:16:40Speaker 6: couldn't identify it.
- 1:16:41Speaker 2: Nobody to see if there were any other reports in
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: the area that night.
- 1:16:46Speaker 4: I mean, this was like, like, what was that going
- 1:16:48Speaker 4: to check?
- 1:16:49Speaker 6: Ohe because the police are going to tell me the truth?
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: Uh Fred can't trust the government exactly.
- 1:17:06Speaker 6: This is why didn't bring it up. You guys laugh, Yeah,
- 1:17:10Speaker 6: they I know. It was like it was shaped like
- 1:17:14Speaker 6: literally like a like a giant frisbee. I'm dead serious.
- 1:17:17Speaker 6: And then now I don't think it was Then what
- 1:17:20Speaker 6: do you think it was?
- 1:17:20Speaker 19: Brady with a flashlight? Probably probably it was pretty big.
- 1:17:27Speaker 19: I don't know how big, like it like a size
- 1:17:31Speaker 19: of the mothership, the size of like a like a
- 1:17:34Speaker 19: small airplane. But it wasn't an airplane.
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: Okay, okay?
- 1:17:39Speaker 8: Did it move quickly?
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: This was during the night at night?
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: And where were you Buys Air Force Base or anything
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: like that?
- 1:17:46Speaker 4: I don't think so. I forget which lake it was.
- 1:17:48Speaker 4: It wasn't Winnipesaki.
- 1:17:50Speaker 6: I know that in that area, uh ish, I mean
- 1:17:53Speaker 6: maybe about an hour and a half from actually went
- 1:17:56Speaker 6: to after.
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: All, right, are jacket and aubre message to Evan from
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: a veteran of many extremely cold days in Michigan.
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: There is no bad weather. There is only bad clothing.
- 1:18:09Speaker 6: No, I mean, we grew up here, like I went
- 1:18:11Speaker 6: to school Ithaca and grew up in New England. You're cold,
- 1:18:15Speaker 6: just admit it. It's okay.
- 1:18:18Speaker 4: It gets cold. Everybody gets it.
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: Sounds like one of those guys just with shorts. I'm
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: not cold. State of mind always.
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: Sully, the diehard Patriots fan, wanted to take a moment
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: to acknowledge Alex in the contribution she makes to the show.
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: She is always a breath of fresh air and the
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: rudder that keeps the ship right on the show. The
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: collective impact of her presence really cannot be underestimated or understated.
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: On a completely separate and unrelated topic, Alex, Yes.
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: You got it, Paul, She's not want to assume that's what.
- 1:19:01Speaker 7: I was gonna say. This is dramatic, but I appreciate it.
- 1:19:03Speaker 7: But now I understand why it was so dramatic.
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: I'm sure he meant it.
- 1:19:06Speaker 4: Still a compliment.
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: Yeah, we get this question a lot.
- 1:19:12Speaker 2: Uh.
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: This is from Jordan.
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: I Uh, my wife and I are flying up from
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: Tampa to watch the Patriots destroy the Jets.
- 1:19:20Speaker 11: Uh.
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: It will be my wife's first trip to New England.
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: While we're there, it's outside of the Patriots game, what
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: should I take her to see that Taurus might not
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: know of. I know fall is beautiful up there. I
- 1:19:31Speaker 2: know we want to explore Boston in the Cape. But
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: any recommendations would be awesome. So you know, like we
- 1:19:37Speaker 2: need more info. How long are you going to be here,
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: where you're staying? You know that whole thing.
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe go up to New Hampshire. Can Yeah, it depends.
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: Jets game maybe three, four, week six, so that's probably
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: second week at the height of the's probably pretty good.
- 1:19:55Speaker 7: You're probably time in the Foliage perfect. Maybe they October
- 1:19:59Speaker 7: home games the US a couple of years have been
- 1:20:01Speaker 7: like a big existence for me.
- 1:20:04Speaker 2: I mean, if you want to like ride up to
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: the White Mountains in New Hampshire, that's not that far.
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: It's like a couple hours. You can hike mountain and
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: ad knock. Yeah, that's that's really up there. You could
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: do Blue Hill right here. That's shorter, small.
- 1:20:16Speaker 2: You know, if you do go down the Cape, even
- 1:20:18Speaker 2: though you can't go to the beach, you can still
- 1:20:20Speaker 2: go on the beach and walk the beach and restaurants
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: are still open and there won't be a lot of tourists,
- 1:20:25Speaker 2: so it'll be easy to get around.
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: So that's cool. Amount of apple picking. Yeah, you know,
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: that's a ton of I mean, just like any place,
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: there's a ton of things to do.
- 1:20:34Speaker 6: If you hit the if you hit the beaches on
- 1:20:38Speaker 6: like a nice fall day and there's not a ton
- 1:20:40Speaker 6: of people and you can just kind of walk the
- 1:20:42Speaker 6: beach and stuff, it's actually very pleasant.
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: Nice.
- 1:20:44Speaker 6: It's very nice. You're not going into water or anything,
- 1:20:47Speaker 6: but like it's not freezing yet. It's actually very nice.
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: It keeps nice.
- 1:20:52Speaker 5: It's probably if you haven't been to Cape Cod and
- 1:20:53Speaker 5: you just want to go and check it out without
- 1:20:55Speaker 5: all the crowds. October might be a good time to
- 1:20:57Speaker 5: get a layer of the land.
- 1:20:58Speaker 7: Newport to Newport is so buzzing in the summer, but
- 1:21:01Speaker 7: there's so much to do that I think the fall
- 1:21:03Speaker 7: you get to really appreciate it.
- 1:21:05Speaker 6: We did that once on the bye week. We went
- 1:21:08Speaker 6: we went to Newport for the weekend on the bye week.
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: Aport a little bit.
- 1:21:16Speaker 5: Yeah, we we I went down there after my prom.
- 1:21:17Speaker 5: That was like we all went down to Newport for
- 1:21:19Speaker 5: the day. That was, but only a couple of times.
- 1:21:20Speaker 5: I mean, it's fine.
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: It's a cool place for kids to go and and
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: wear sunglasses. We went to I really like.
- 1:21:28Speaker 6: Uh, if you're into that sort of thing, we did
- 1:21:30Speaker 6: the Mansions. The Mansions are the best, exactly.
- 1:21:33Speaker 4: We did the driving tour because we had the dog
- 1:21:36Speaker 4: with us and it was actually pretty cool.
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: Yeah it was. It was fun listen to the tour
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: and everything.
- 1:21:40Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, it was interesting.
- 1:21:45Speaker 8: Youth to a tour of the Vanderbilt.
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: Yeah, we did that one.
- 1:21:51Speaker 4: If you're into a combination of like history and cool houses, yeah,
- 1:21:54Speaker 4: it hits.
- 1:21:57Speaker 7: Take her to what's that restaurant? They just had a
- 1:22:00Speaker 7: fire on.
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: The cliff Walk. It's not actually on fire now, no.
- 1:22:06Speaker 8: Not anymore.
- 1:22:06Speaker 7: Oh, thank god they put it out. Anyways, right on
- 1:22:09Speaker 7: the cliff Walk there's a sick inn in restaurant. It's
- 1:22:11Speaker 7: like a five star in.
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: Baseball stadium down there. Great place place my first career.
- 1:22:23Speaker 3: Sal Regina, Salvy Regina, my brother in law went there.
- 1:22:26Speaker 8: Good Night life.
- 1:22:27Speaker 7: There's a lot going on the Newport Yep.
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: Very cool.
- 1:22:32Speaker 2: Let's see Barton Poland. Uh, Paul's mind is interesting.
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: Uh the least.
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: Last Thursday, the show was going on simultaneously as the
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: Czech Republic was playing South Africa. Paul was absolutely glued
- 1:22:46Speaker 2: to the TV, and concluded by saying, if more games
- 1:22:48Speaker 2: had so many goalscoring opportunities, I'd watch more, which is
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: very funny because the game was universally talked about as
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: one of the most boring games of the tournament. Funny
- 1:22:58Speaker 2: how a non football slash soccer fan and and Paul
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: finds a game of a sport that he usually finds
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: boring entertaining, while fans of the sport universally found the
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: game boring generally interested in why it happened.
- 1:23:12Speaker 3: I mean, sure, he's right. I'm not going to argue
- 1:23:14Speaker 3: we tease you.
- 1:23:15Speaker 7: For this on the show because I remember I remember
- 1:23:19Speaker 7: and being like Paul, you're pooh pooing soccer. Look how
- 1:23:22Speaker 7: locked in you are. You're not paying attention to that
- 1:23:24Speaker 7: everything and then.
- 1:23:29Speaker 8: Looting like a score.
- 1:23:30Speaker 3: Also, I I do have like you know, Evan always
- 1:23:32Speaker 3: talks about superpowers, you know, for for football players. My
- 1:23:35Speaker 3: superpower is to be able to do like three things
- 1:23:38Speaker 3: while we're doing the show, Like you guys make fun
- 1:23:40Speaker 3: of me every week for watching Red Zone and not
- 1:23:43Speaker 3: missing a play and not taking it, not missing an
- 1:23:46Speaker 3: opportunity to make fun of Fred about some random thing. Right,
- 1:23:49Speaker 3: So I was watching the game as we were doing
- 1:23:51Speaker 3: the show, and every time I looked up, it seemed
- 1:23:54Speaker 3: like somebody had a really good chance to score. Now,
- 1:23:58Speaker 3: I'm not going to argue with some who watches the
- 1:24:00Speaker 3: World Cup intently and say, no, you're wrong. That was
- 1:24:03Speaker 3: a really good game. If you tell me it was
- 1:24:05Speaker 3: a bad one, then I've watched about somewhere between eight
- 1:24:09Speaker 3: or ten other games and haven't seen nearly the amount
- 1:24:11Speaker 3: of scoring chances I did in that one, unless it
- 1:24:14Speaker 3: was like Portugal yesterday had. Like, it's not interesting to
- 1:24:18Speaker 3: me that one team is so much better than the
- 1:24:20Speaker 3: other that the team can't Like I watched Spain beat
- 1:24:23Speaker 3: somebody for nothing, sorry for nil, thank you, and the
- 1:24:27Speaker 3: other team literally couldn't get the ball out of the
- 1:24:30Speaker 3: out of the box. That they were just so overmatched
- 1:24:34Speaker 3: that to me is not entertaining.
- 1:24:35Speaker 2: But it's like if I guess if I was watching
- 1:24:37Speaker 2: tennis and it was a really close match, but it
- 1:24:40Speaker 2: was close because both players were making a ton of mistakes.
- 1:24:43Speaker 3: Yeah, that's that's why I would imagine that, and that's
- 1:24:45Speaker 3: why I wouldn't argue with the guy who obviously knows
- 1:24:47Speaker 3: a lot more about it than I were.
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: I think.
- 1:24:51Speaker 4: We should say for nothing. Another thing that I've.
- 1:24:55Speaker 2: Well that like, if all of a sudden, like people
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: in England talking about baseball, should they change all the
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: terms of the baseball game just because they're from England.
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: No, I think they should keep the terms of the
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: game as it is.
- 1:25:08Speaker 4: I think it makes you sound like such a much.
- 1:25:11Speaker 2: I think it makes I think it makes you feel
- 1:25:13Speaker 2: it makes you sound arrogant. So all of a sudden,
- 1:25:16Speaker 2: we talk about American baseball, but I'm going to change the.
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: Terms of the game.
- 1:25:20Speaker 18: No, but not.
- 1:25:21Speaker 6: But we're you're just like doing what's natural to your vocabulary,
- 1:25:26Speaker 6: but it isn't natural.
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: So I'm sport has its own lexicons.
- 1:25:30Speaker 6: Okay, but it's culture, Like you're just stealing the soccer culture.
- 1:25:33Speaker 6: Like we need to have our own soccer culture.
- 1:25:35Speaker 3: Know, do we?
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: Yes?
- 1:25:37Speaker 4: We need like we need to have our own traditions,
- 1:25:40Speaker 4: our own culture with this sport.
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: Like you know, I saw a lot of things.
- 1:25:43Speaker 2: So so let me So, if they start playing American football,
- 1:25:47Speaker 2: should they start not saying it's a tackle?
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: They should say it's.
- 1:25:50Speaker 6: Not a Whatever whatever is naturally comes to them is
- 1:25:53Speaker 6: what they should say. I assume with rugby, I think
- 1:25:56Speaker 6: it is tackling, So I think that they would probably
- 1:25:58Speaker 6: say tackling, you're talking.
- 1:25:58Speaker 2: About rugby Imerican football.
- 1:26:00Speaker 6: I know, but it's a similar sports. So if they
- 1:26:02Speaker 6: are people tackling and rugby and they call it.
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: Being disingenuous, tackles in soccer.
- 1:26:07Speaker 6: Too, I feel like we like when I hear somebody
- 1:26:11Speaker 6: tried to like speak it the lingo of soccer, and
- 1:26:14Speaker 6: I'm talking about people that like get paid to talk
- 1:26:16Speaker 6: about this sport.
- 1:26:17Speaker 2: I think that's kind of arrogant, Like it's, you know,
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: you've been playing the sport longer, but now that we're
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: playing it, we're going to change what we have.
- 1:26:26Speaker 7: I'm not That's not what I'm saying Americans.
- 1:26:30Speaker 6: I'm I'm saying that we should say what's natural to
- 1:26:33Speaker 6: us and not like try to be them and try
- 1:26:36Speaker 6: to copy them.
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: It's not a.
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: Copying, it's this is the sport and these are the
- 1:26:39Speaker 2: terms of the sport.
- 1:26:41Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:26:42Speaker 13: I don't know, Like Evan, this makes you sound more
- 1:26:44Speaker 13: like a Wiener than saying one nil.
- 1:26:46Speaker 6: No, it doesn't like not like I said, if we said,
- 1:26:50Speaker 6: like the Red Sox lost three to nothing, We're not
- 1:26:52Speaker 6: going to start talking saying the Red Sox lost three
- 1:26:54Speaker 6: nil because we don't.
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: Say that because we're talking about baseball.
- 1:26:57Speaker 4: No, it's because we're taught, we're American and we don't
- 1:26:59Speaker 4: say knew.
- 1:27:00Speaker 3: What would they say in England if the Red Sox
- 1:27:03Speaker 3: lost three to nothing threel, they would say three nil.
- 1:27:06Speaker 6: I don't know, but that because that is he's saying that,
- 1:27:10Speaker 6: because that's there, that's their lingo.
- 1:27:12Speaker 2: But you're taking certain things. But I'm talking about like
- 1:27:16Speaker 2: the parts of the game that are unique to the game.
- 1:27:19Speaker 13: You know.
- 1:27:20Speaker 2: Sure, I'm not saying that we should like if they
- 1:27:22Speaker 2: started calling it a baseball club instead of a bat.
- 1:27:24Speaker 4: I'm not saying that.
- 1:27:26Speaker 6: I'm saying like, there's certain like there's a lingo, there's
- 1:27:29Speaker 6: like a certain language, a lingo that's very unique to
- 1:27:33Speaker 6: like Europe and how they talk about the game, especially England.
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: But isn't there a lingo that's unique to each sport? Yeah?
- 1:27:40Speaker 6: I just feel as though question so would I think
- 1:27:44Speaker 6: like we're not like really understanding MLS.
- 1:27:47Speaker 7: In the MLS, if there is a draw or a tie,
- 1:27:52Speaker 7: or a team or nothing, how do how does an
- 1:27:55Speaker 7: American announcer in the MLS do they also say.
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: Nothing four nil?
- 1:28:03Speaker 8: I think they would say four.
- 1:28:05Speaker 7: Nil as an American broadcaster, that's the question I have.
- 1:28:08Speaker 4: Yes, I think that's what I'm saying.
- 1:28:10Speaker 3: Brad would say four nil.
- 1:28:11Speaker 4: I would also.
- 1:28:14Speaker 6: Just say nothing, just say like you're do like that's
- 1:28:18Speaker 6: for the American audience, like it's just we're just kind
- 1:28:22Speaker 6: of stealing their their culture.
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: It's not. It's not stealing the culture, it's using.
- 1:28:28Speaker 8: It depends to saying it.
- 1:28:29Speaker 7: I think if it's a guy that you know that's
- 1:28:31Speaker 7: pretentious and all of a sudden, his new personality is
- 1:28:34Speaker 7: soccer to be different and try to be like, oh
- 1:28:37Speaker 7: I knew that band when they just had a sing like,
- 1:28:39Speaker 7: you know, before they're single.
- 1:28:40Speaker 8: How people do that?
- 1:28:42Speaker 7: If it's someone like that, that's annoying as hell. And
- 1:28:44Speaker 7: I agree, it's like the people that like, maybe you're
- 1:28:48Speaker 7: Italian six generations ago and you say Muzzael like you're
- 1:28:53Speaker 7: speaking totally perfect like American dialect English, but you're talking
- 1:28:57Speaker 7: about a recipe and you say and then you add
- 1:28:59Speaker 7: some like that's so.
- 1:29:01Speaker 8: Cringe to me.
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: Okay, well that's forced. Yeah, that's what this is.
- 1:29:05Speaker 8: That's how some people are.
- 1:29:07Speaker 3: Like you know, when you when you talk about like
- 1:29:09Speaker 3: I don't like your example but I understand what careful,
- 1:29:12Speaker 3: Like do you more than most of the things in
- 1:29:17Speaker 3: Italian that I say, or just because that's how that
- 1:29:21Speaker 3: word was introduced to me by my Like I wouldn't
- 1:29:24Speaker 3: say spaghetti, I would not say spaghett I would say spaghetti.
- 1:29:28Speaker 8: Like I love giata.
- 1:29:29Speaker 6: But how videos Like there's a lot of conversations right
- 1:29:33Speaker 6: now going on about like chants at games, like these
- 1:29:36Speaker 6: other countries have like unique chants that are like you know,
- 1:29:41Speaker 6: obviously in their language if it's not English, but like
- 1:29:43Speaker 6: they have chances that they do during the games, and
- 1:29:46Speaker 6: like we just like try to chant in the same way,
- 1:29:51Speaker 6: like we just tried. American soccer fans just kind of
- 1:29:53Speaker 6: like create American chants that sound like the British ones.
- 1:29:58Speaker 4: But we're just because it's soccer.
- 1:29:59Speaker 2: We have to make it so if we have a mask,
- 1:30:02Speaker 2: so we if we started playing baseball in England and
- 1:30:05Speaker 2: they did the wave, you would be against that.
- 1:30:08Speaker 4: I think they do the wave there too, and certain
- 1:30:11Speaker 4: I don't.
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: I'm just using you know what I'm saying. No, I don't.
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: This is why I can't understand what if they if
- 1:30:17Speaker 2: they're trying to adopt the sport like we love baseball.
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: Now, just make it your own, Like this is like that,
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: Why why do they have to make their own?
- 1:30:25Speaker 4: Why can't they just get it and it's natural to you?
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: Why can't jump on the bandwagon?
- 1:30:29Speaker 6: And because you just use the word bandwagon, like just
- 1:30:33Speaker 6: make it your own, Like, I don't understand why we
- 1:30:35Speaker 6: have to, like like it's not natural to us.
- 1:30:38Speaker 4: So we sound like we're just copying their culture and
- 1:30:41Speaker 4: taking it from them.
- 1:30:42Speaker 7: We should adopt our chance from the SEC. I saw
- 1:30:45Speaker 7: someone make a good point about this, but change the
- 1:30:48Speaker 7: mascots to like a bald eagle, you know, take the
- 1:30:53Speaker 7: SEC chance and just adopt them into soccer.
- 1:30:55Speaker 4: I heard a lot of that college football that sort
- 1:30:58Speaker 4: of like I like I had to.
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: Stay like if you want to call it a field
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: instead of a pitch.
- 1:31:02Speaker 6: Yeah, like people that like, you're an American, you you're
- 1:31:05Speaker 6: born in America, You're an American soccer fan. And then
- 1:31:09Speaker 6: all of a sudden we have to hear, oh, they
- 1:31:11Speaker 6: were on the pitch today, like you're not from Britain, dude, like.
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: That I understanding that.
- 1:31:15Speaker 2: I understand, because but what but when you talk about
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: like the elements of the game and stuff like that, why.
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: Not just keep it what it is.
- 1:31:24Speaker 6: Why do you I'm not I'm not, but I'm not
- 1:31:25Speaker 6: that those aren't the things that I'm talking about. What
- 1:31:28Speaker 6: I'm talking about is field and pitch or tie in
- 1:31:31Speaker 6: and draw or zero and nil, like those are their terms.
- 1:31:35Speaker 2: So like in tennis, like should I not say forty love?
- 1:31:38Speaker 2: Should we say zero?
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: Should we call it practice camp and not training camp? Now?
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: Should we write you know? Yeah, like you're I kind
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: of see both sides. Let's go back to let's go
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: back to baseball with with with the you know London,
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: like would they call them goals and not runs? Yeah?
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: Like I.
- 1:31:59Speaker 3: But I agree, But these are terms that are inherent
- 1:32:01Speaker 3: in the sport. And if I don't know enough about
- 1:32:04Speaker 3: soccer to know like nil, pitch and all these things
- 1:32:08Speaker 3: those sports that like, is that like universal like everywhere
- 1:32:11Speaker 3: else in the world, that's.
- 1:32:12Speaker 10: What it is.
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: No, because that's English in English, so.
- 1:32:16Speaker 3: It's all just English. But it's not like what you
- 1:32:20Speaker 3: would say soccer, no, because.
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: Like in Morocco, they're not saying nil.
- 1:32:24Speaker 2: Okay, they're saying they're whatever, they're they're saying whatever they're
- 1:32:27Speaker 2: they're they're language, yes.
- 1:32:29Speaker 3: But nil, they're saying nil in that language, saying zero
- 1:32:33Speaker 3: in that languge yeah, okay, yeah, okay, I just nothing.
- 1:32:38Speaker 6: I just find it very zer odd that we just
- 1:32:42Speaker 6: I'm not talking about like calling a tackle a tackle
- 1:32:45Speaker 6: or calling off side offside. I'm talking about the lingo,
- 1:32:48Speaker 6: like when you talk about the game.
- 1:32:50Speaker 2: Your line of thinking also goes into and it actually
- 1:32:53Speaker 2: the Revolutionist kind of adopted it, where a lot of
- 1:32:58Speaker 2: these teams that came into MLS thought we have to
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: have the name of our team has to be kind
- 1:33:03Speaker 2: of have that English f C inter and all this stuff,
- 1:33:07Speaker 2: and the Revolutions publicly said and owned it and said, no,
- 1:33:11Speaker 2: no Inter, no f C.
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: We're the New England Revolution. That's our name. We're not
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: gonna like which was a really good name. Y yeah, yeah,
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: that was a good and.
- 1:33:20Speaker 2: We're not going to buy you, you know, f C
- 1:33:22Speaker 2: just because that's what they're doing.
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:33:25Speaker 4: Well that's where that's those are my points.
- 1:33:27Speaker 6: My point is not reinventing the sport and calling them
- 1:33:30Speaker 6: runs instead of goals. My point is is like we
- 1:33:34Speaker 6: speak like a lingo of soccer and that we just
- 1:33:37Speaker 6: copy from the Brits and we just like all of
- 1:33:40Speaker 6: a sudden, if you're a soccer fan. Instead of just
- 1:33:42Speaker 6: saying they tied, we have to now say they drew.
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: I would say that's less soccer than it is. Just England.
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: That's what they say for zero is nil in sports,
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: not just soccer. Do you think so?
- 1:33:53Speaker 4: Do you think that they say that, like what my
- 1:33:56Speaker 4: phone number is? You know, zero and they say nil.
- 1:33:58Speaker 2: They call the field to pitch for rugby, they call
- 1:34:01Speaker 2: it that for soccer, they call it that for cricket, you.
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: Know, so like it's that's their word for field.
- 1:34:06Speaker 6: It's not a soccer thing, okay, But in America our
- 1:34:09Speaker 6: word for field to field, and that's.
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: Different, So call it different.
- 1:34:12Speaker 2: I'm talking about the soccer specificity. But I agree with
- 1:34:15Speaker 2: you there you can go overboard trying to copy that.
- 1:34:18Speaker 2: I get that, we got there it okay, but I stopped.
- 1:34:23Speaker 2: But I draw the line at trying to change the
- 1:34:27Speaker 2: actual lexicon of just because you know we're here and
- 1:34:32Speaker 2: we want to have our own brand is soccer?
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: Why why not?
- 1:34:36Speaker 6: Just I'm talking about the cultural aspects. You know, we
- 1:34:40Speaker 6: call it, we say about we we we call it nil.
- 1:34:45Speaker 6: You know that we say nil because we're from Britain
- 1:34:48Speaker 6: and we say nil. We're not from Britain, right, most
- 1:34:51Speaker 6: of us aren't, so we call it our nil is zero,
- 1:34:54Speaker 6: so just say zero. That's it nothing. So don't say
- 1:34:59Speaker 6: the pitch in this country. It's not a pitch like
- 1:35:02Speaker 6: that though.
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: Practice camp forget training camp, practice camp, thank you? Practice
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: camp Well, that was one thing.
- 1:35:12Speaker 2: Like a lot of these teams that are building these
- 1:35:14Speaker 2: new facilities like we did for the you know, training,
- 1:35:16Speaker 2: they're calling them training centers.
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: That's a new thing. Practice center too.
- 1:35:19Speaker 7: Well, you're not just practicing, it's also training to the
- 1:35:22Speaker 7: trainer right now, So.
- 1:35:23Speaker 2: That's to me, that's a relatively new thing for football
- 1:35:26Speaker 2: to call them training center.
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: And they call the shoes trainers too, right, Like, yeah,
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: that's true.
- 1:35:31Speaker 4: You know, that's like training and training is a good one.
- 1:35:34Speaker 7: That's Australian sneakers, tennis shoes, like every sneaker.
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: Everything, everything.
- 1:35:41Speaker 8: I feel like not a lot of people say sneakers.
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: What do you call sneak America? I totally agree with this, sneakers.
- 1:35:47Speaker 3: I don't think a lot of people call them sneakers anymore.
- 1:35:49Speaker 3: And that's all that I ever called them, growing I do.
- 1:35:51Speaker 8: I think I still we're all from the Northeast.
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I call them snakes sneaks.
- 1:35:57Speaker 2: I would imagine the origin of that is because they
- 1:35:59Speaker 2: were soft, padded, and you could sneak up on people, right,
- 1:36:03Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: Brilliant, just like the Aliens.
- 1:36:07Speaker 3: Training original sneakers urge of the words red courage in twenty.
- 1:36:14Speaker 2: Six you could sneak up on people, Sean Wright, Sandy says.
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: Eric Scalavino would say, no, boo boom, Eric comes up again,
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: we were just talking about hate. Friend is kind of right, Oh,
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: in made total sense.
- 1:36:28Speaker 7: The term sneaker originates from the verbs sneak and the
- 1:36:31Speaker 7: suffix e r. It was coined because the shoes flexible,
- 1:36:34Speaker 7: rubber soul allowed the wearer to walk silently or sneak around.
- 1:36:38Speaker 5: There you go, well, maybe it's a California think everything's
- 1:36:41Speaker 5: tennis shoes everything, Like she got to get like, our
- 1:36:44Speaker 5: kids don't play tennis.
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: What are you talking about?
- 1:36:45Speaker 12: You know?
- 1:36:46Speaker 7: Just feel like it's definitely regional because I have a
- 1:36:48Speaker 7: friend from Utah that also calls them.
- 1:36:51Speaker 3: And I've never I've never called them tennis shoes or
- 1:36:55Speaker 3: kicks kicks, but sneakers for the most part.
- 1:36:59Speaker 1: Yeah, uh, Dan and Virginia and Michigan. It might be
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: just me.
- 1:37:03Speaker 2: But when Alex was describing the kind of poser who
- 1:37:05Speaker 2: shouldn't use the term like Mozzarell, her descriptions sounded a
- 1:37:09Speaker 2: lot like Eric Scalabrino.
- 1:37:12Speaker 3: Except for she She was like digging daggers right through
- 1:37:16Speaker 3: my heart as she was looking at me with a
- 1:37:18Speaker 3: condescending look on her face.
- 1:37:21Speaker 2: Patrick Ottawa, No, Patrick, and Ottawa says, I understand exactly
- 1:37:25Speaker 2: what Evan is saying. I hate when English speaking people
- 1:37:28Speaker 2: use French words to describe things because it sounds cool.
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: We say purple, not mouave. You are not French.
- 1:37:38Speaker 5: I love it.
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: I love his email.
- 1:37:41Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't like his example, right is like colors.
- 1:37:45Speaker 8: This is now color theory.
- 1:37:48Speaker 6: I think of the training one because I did, you know,
- 1:37:50Speaker 6: I followed some people that are covering the US team
- 1:37:54Speaker 6: like a beat, and so I've been following whether or
- 1:37:57Speaker 6: not Christian Polis has been at practice.
- 1:38:00Speaker 4: Instead of at practice, it's at training.
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: Right, and writers write it that way too. You were
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: you were I know who you are.
- 1:38:06Speaker 4: You were an American person.
- 1:38:09Speaker 6: You know, we tell you that usually covers American sports,
- 1:38:12Speaker 6: and you're telling your tweeting Christian Polistic is not at
- 1:38:15Speaker 6: US training today.
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: Just call it practice.
- 1:38:19Speaker 7: You know what, Though some fan bases get really like
- 1:38:23Speaker 7: like some hockey fans are very particular.
- 1:38:25Speaker 8: Like when I worked at Nason, we had to cover.
- 1:38:27Speaker 7: Nascar sometimes, and the NASCAR fans were very particular about
- 1:38:31Speaker 7: how you described certain aspects of the sport, like you
- 1:38:35Speaker 7: had to know the jargon and the lingo or else.
- 1:38:37Speaker 8: They tried to roast you on Twitter.
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: So I like you people who called vacations holidays. I
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: was on holidays, might as well go start calling them.
- 1:38:47Speaker 1: But people really do that outside.
- 1:38:49Speaker 3: I'm talking about here financed finance, finances and stuff.
- 1:38:59Speaker 5: Finance b that was I think I said the Adidas
- 1:39:02Speaker 5: everyone at Rebuck when I entered that everyone calling a
- 1:39:05Speaker 5: lot of people called what are they talking about?
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: And I'm like, have I been serio saying this wrong?
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: My whole life? We never said Nike growing up there
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: said Nikes. Yeah, oh you said always really always, but.
- 1:39:14Speaker 4: That was a nickname.
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: Though, I am not sure when I said, I may
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: don't know for sure with false friends, I may.
- 1:39:21Speaker 3: I may have been about eighteen or so when I
- 1:39:23Speaker 3: realized it was Nike.
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: You're Mike, that's Nike?
- 1:39:25Speaker 10: What?
- 1:39:28Speaker 13: No?
- 1:39:28Speaker 3: I I definitely when I first got a pair of
- 1:39:32Speaker 3: Nike Cootez. By the way, it is my original pair
- 1:39:34Speaker 3: of Nikes. I thought it was Nike. Well, I thought
- 1:39:39Speaker 3: that it was pronounced night.
- 1:39:40Speaker 2: What was your coolest pair of sneakers at the time
- 1:39:44Speaker 2: that you felt like these are the cool sneakers? Like,
- 1:39:47Speaker 2: when when did you finally get your first cool pair
- 1:39:49Speaker 2: of sneakers?
- 1:39:50Speaker 5: I mean, I mine felt unearned because, as I've said,
- 1:39:52Speaker 5: my dad worked at Rebux, so I got the pumps,
- 1:39:54Speaker 5: but I didn't play I didn't play basketball, so everyone
- 1:39:56Speaker 5: would want to, like, you know, come up and pump
- 1:39:58Speaker 5: them and then they air out and stuff, and then
- 1:39:59Speaker 5: I shoes and pump yourself.
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I know, yeah I had. Was that your first
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: one of those?
- 1:40:05Speaker 19: Right?
- 1:40:06Speaker 12: No?
- 1:40:06Speaker 3: I mean I probably just not. I don't ever really
- 1:40:09Speaker 3: remember like thinking my sneakers were anything special.
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: You weren't. You didn't care about your.
- 1:40:14Speaker 7: My mom dressed me really well, so like I don't
- 1:40:18Speaker 7: I never had to have like, oh I really want
- 1:40:20Speaker 7: those shoes instead of mine, you know, like my mom
- 1:40:22Speaker 7: had pretty good sty with us.
- 1:40:24Speaker 8: But Nike shocks is the answer.
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: Nike shocks.
- 1:40:27Speaker 8: Nike shocks.
- 1:40:28Speaker 7: That's when I started kind of really caring about sneakers
- 1:40:31Speaker 7: and like picking out my own colors for the springs.
- 1:40:34Speaker 3: But you'll get this one. Do you remember coaching shoes?
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I know, but those were Yeah, but those weren't sneakers,
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: but we.
- 1:40:43Speaker 3: Wore there was a period that we wore those, like
- 1:40:45Speaker 3: as every day the bike shorts I did.
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: I never left.
- 1:40:50Speaker 7: You know, it was a hilarious trend in suburbs of
- 1:40:53Speaker 7: Massachusetts for the fat farm sneakers because like, what business
- 1:40:57Speaker 7: did kids in the suburbs have wearing.
- 1:41:00Speaker 1: Farmer I don't know what.
- 1:41:01Speaker 4: I don't really, you don't generation.
- 1:41:05Speaker 8: So I guess it's your generation.
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: What your first official one of me? Well, I I played.
- 1:41:14Speaker 6: I attempted to play basketball growing up, so I had
- 1:41:16Speaker 6: a lot of basketball shoes. Jordan's, Iverson's T Max. I
- 1:41:22Speaker 6: played most of my basketball years and T Max. My
- 1:41:26Speaker 6: older years were in Kyrie's shoe, which actually at the time.
- 1:41:28Speaker 3: I don't remember, like that first period, like I got
- 1:41:31Speaker 3: him for basketball. It was probably Converse All Stars.
- 1:41:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I can't believe.
- 1:41:36Speaker 6: Uh, yeah, I don't remember.
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: By the way, No, no Converse is different.
- 1:41:43Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't remember exactly like the exact shoe, but
- 1:41:47Speaker 6: I I was I was a shoehead. You know, I
- 1:41:50Speaker 6: was a sneaker head and I had a lot of
- 1:41:51Speaker 6: basket No, I just don't remember when that was like
- 1:41:55Speaker 6: what you're describing where I was, like.
- 1:41:57Speaker 1: I mean, Evan was well off, had a lot. I
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: had a lot of I did have a room where
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: it was like walk in as a child Puma Clydes
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: loose Wight with the white Puma, right, you know, I
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: think I ever.
- 1:42:11Speaker 8: Had Pumas some of my favorite cleats. They made nice cleats.
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: What are the the Adidas ones that are making a
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: comeback round? Everybody's got.
- 1:42:19Speaker 7: I couldn't do the Samba craze because I just saw
- 1:42:23Speaker 7: an indoor soccer sneaker and I was like, there's no
- 1:42:25Speaker 7: way in the world this could ever be stylish.
- 1:42:27Speaker 8: But all the kids wear I was, they.
- 1:42:29Speaker 5: Had them in high school, but they like they're like
- 1:42:31Speaker 5: black and they just have the black leather with like
- 1:42:33Speaker 5: a white striped classic Adidas.
- 1:42:37Speaker 7: Yeah, all different colors stripes they do though.
- 1:42:40Speaker 6: Okay, Jordan's probably answered trying to answer your question. Jordan's yeah,
- 1:42:45Speaker 6: probably my first parent.
- 1:42:46Speaker 3: That was always I had the d Brown pumps. Oh yeah, yeah,
- 1:42:50Speaker 3: I had I had Rebox pumps, but I won them.
- 1:42:52Speaker 5: I remember that you and your brother scamming the Remember
- 1:42:55Speaker 5: that Irish was the coach of the Northeast basketball team.
- 1:43:00Speaker 3: Autograph the rebok ad in the program? Oh yeah, how
- 1:43:03Speaker 3: many people you think will buy in the Northeastern program?
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: You and you're enrich? Right?
- 1:43:08Speaker 3: So we won like four times.
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: I'm not lying. I'm not exaggerating at all. A few
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: more programs, please, Oh boy, I'm good. Let's see.
- 1:43:19Speaker 2: We were also talking about soresby uh and Jordan writes
- 1:43:25Speaker 2: in the conversation around the integrity of the game and
- 1:43:27Speaker 2: sports betting, I understand, but to claim a kid should
- 1:43:30Speaker 2: be banned for life from a league full of people
- 1:43:32Speaker 2: who break league rules on drugs, domestic violence, and other
- 1:43:36Speaker 2: personal conduct penalties is laughable. In gambling, by the way,
- 1:43:39Speaker 2: sports is and has always been a business of second chances.
- 1:43:43Speaker 2: If you have the talent to match, if the kid
- 1:43:45Speaker 2: truly feels bad, make changes and get approval of the
- 1:43:48Speaker 2: vetting process each team will do on him.
- 1:43:51Speaker 1: More power to him.
- 1:43:52Speaker 2: I'd like to see if Christian Nla has ever made
- 1:43:54Speaker 2: a mistake that he could would like to take back.
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: Ban for life is silly.
- 1:44:00Speaker 6: I mean, Christian none that he'd ever admit to Saint
- 1:44:03Speaker 6: Christian is he's been operating on that higher plane.
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: L Yeah, this is his new thing.
- 1:44:08Speaker 2: Now he's the moral arbiter of everything, So everything Jeff
- 1:44:16Speaker 2: in Canada. As for the gambling boy, I highly doubt
- 1:44:22Speaker 2: he plays in the CFL. The season has already started,
- 1:44:24Speaker 2: and although the CFL is like a tiny third cousin
- 1:44:27Speaker 2: to the NFL, it does have established players, especially at
- 1:44:30Speaker 2: the quarterback position. So I can't see a team saying
- 1:44:33Speaker 2: we're going to bring in this guy who might have
- 1:44:35Speaker 2: a potential, who might have potential mid season. I wonder
- 1:44:39Speaker 2: if the NFL actually did him a favor, because it's
- 1:44:42Speaker 2: likely no team was taking him in the supplemental draft
- 1:44:45Speaker 2: as opposed to next year as someone takes a flyer
- 1:44:47Speaker 2: on him in the sixth round.
- 1:44:49Speaker 5: I don't know about that, you know, so, I yeah,
- 1:44:52Speaker 5: the last part is not accurate. It's a good documentary.
- 1:44:55Speaker 5: I was this kid's agent, I'd probably be like document
- 1:44:58Speaker 5: If he didn't get.
- 1:44:59Speaker 3: Taken in a supplement mental draft, someone would have immediately
- 1:45:02Speaker 3: signed him. Like if he just went on drafted the
- 1:45:05Speaker 3: supplemental draft, someone would sign him.
- 1:45:07Speaker 6: The super talented at that position. Yeah, do you take
- 1:45:10Speaker 6: the chance super interesting. He's very talented, is he physically
- 1:45:15Speaker 6: like he's he's got kind of like a Josh Allen
- 1:45:18Speaker 6: Drake may kind of skill set, but we just don't
- 1:45:21Speaker 6: know if he's going to realize it.
- 1:45:22Speaker 4: But he's got that kind of arm talent.
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: What would you do? What would you do? You have
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: to you can't you have nowhere to play? Like, you know,
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: what what could he do to get I.
- 1:45:30Speaker 3: Would go to Canada? Like I understand that they're already
- 1:45:33Speaker 3: you know, you know, getting started, but see if you
- 1:45:36Speaker 3: can you can get in with with have your agent
- 1:45:39Speaker 3: contact everybody in the league and see if you can
- 1:45:42Speaker 3: get in there. Some experience playing is but even if
- 1:45:45Speaker 3: he doesn't actually play and he's just practicing, that could
- 1:45:48Speaker 3: help him.
- 1:45:49Speaker 4: So I guess they're in week four of their season
- 1:45:52Speaker 4: right now, so pretty early.
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: Who is the quarterbacks coach here?
- 1:45:55Speaker 2: George gode Got George Got you remember we should call
- 1:45:59Speaker 2: him that?
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: That's what I was thinking when I said georgeby Do
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: you know what that's the reference to the Alex George
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: George George Gatzi. You know it was wrong. It's a wonderful,
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: wonderful life. George George Bailey, You just say, George Gatzi
- 1:46:16Speaker 1: like that movie. I'm not missing that much. I never saw.
- 1:46:21Speaker 1: It's a wonderful life. No, No, it's a good movie.
- 1:46:25Speaker 4: Wrong religion, there's nothing to do with it, well kind of,
- 1:46:29Speaker 4: I'm just kidding.
- 1:46:31Speaker 1: You don't believe in angel before.
- 1:46:33Speaker 10: I don't know.
- 1:46:34Speaker 4: Maybe Jewish people, we don't believe in hell.
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: I know that, which is a good thing.
- 1:46:39Speaker 6: Yeah, you know, we have we have a ranking system. Yeah,
- 1:46:41Speaker 6: if you if you stink, you go to the bottom
- 1:46:43Speaker 6: of heaven. If you're good, you go to the top.
- 1:46:44Speaker 2: Yeah, you live in Beverly Hills or you live in Everett.
- 1:46:48Speaker 4: Exactly exactly.
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: I haven't lived in effort for now.
- 1:46:53Speaker 4: There's only one of us at the moment, and it
- 1:46:56Speaker 4: ain't me.
- 1:46:58Speaker 2: He's not wrong, Henry writes, And I apologize for just
- 1:47:02Speaker 2: tuning in. If I missed it, I'll go back and listen.
- 1:47:05Speaker 2: But what happens if Gabe Acus doesn't sign this season,
- 1:47:08Speaker 2: assuming all worse case scenarios, what happens for both parts
- 1:47:12Speaker 2: the Patriots and him, I don't know.
- 1:47:16Speaker 3: I don't think you were to go to the draft
- 1:47:18Speaker 3: the whole year, to the draft next year. I think
- 1:47:20Speaker 3: he would re enter the draft the Patriots.
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: Get any kind of compensation.
- 1:47:22Speaker 4: You know, that has never happened before.
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: I don't think it's happened. I don't.
- 1:47:27Speaker 5: I mean, it's a great hypothetical because I am curious.
- 1:47:29Speaker 5: I'm surprised the situation hasn't somehow arisen. But I feel
- 1:47:33Speaker 5: like they love this kid so much that even this
- 1:47:36Speaker 5: little snaff who to start, they're still fully invested in him.
- 1:47:38Speaker 6: And that happens more in baseball, like guys they haggle
- 1:47:42Speaker 6: over in the contract and they end up not signing
- 1:47:45Speaker 6: with the team that drafted them. I've never heard of
- 1:47:47Speaker 6: it happening in football.
- 1:47:50Speaker 2: As to different terms with different countries, Max says.
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: Z is z not z as used in UK and elsewhere.
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: I didn't even know that.
- 1:47:59Speaker 2: Yeah, they they say, he said, I can see doing that.
- 1:48:05Speaker 2: He could get confused with C. You know, so you
- 1:48:08Speaker 2: say said different.
- 1:48:09Speaker 8: Means z in French.
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: That means z in French. Yeah, there you go. I
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: don't know, yea English, are you right about? Yeah? So
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: what I described, you go back in the in the draft.
- 1:48:22Speaker 3: If he sits out for the entire year to the
- 1:48:24Speaker 3: next draft, he would be eligible for the following year's draft.
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: Wow, Okay, don the people drafted by the Jets. About that. Wow,
- 1:48:34Speaker 1: Don from Philly.
- 1:48:37Speaker 2: If you were forced to trade the Patriots twenty twenty
- 1:48:39Speaker 2: seven first round pick.
- 1:48:41Speaker 1: For a player, who would it be and why?
- 1:48:43Speaker 2: You can include additional picks if you feel that this
- 1:48:45Speaker 2: player is worth more than a.
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: First justin Jefferson, I mean, there's a plenty of players.
- 1:48:50Speaker 4: I don't know, you know, Miles Garrett like, yeah, like.
- 1:48:54Speaker 5: Yeah, right now, right now, it's edge rusher, you know,
- 1:48:57Speaker 5: give me, give me an edge rusher. I'd scared, be nice,
- 1:49:00Speaker 5: but probably need more than one.
- 1:49:02Speaker 1: Apparently three. Yeah, so there's tons of players i'd give
- 1:49:08Speaker 1: up a first round pick for.
- 1:49:09Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, let's see. Peter writes in I'm listening
- 1:49:17Speaker 2: to older episodes. I'm currently listening to episodes in March
- 1:49:20Speaker 2: of twenty twenty.
- 1:49:21Speaker 1: Four, although, like, what's the March of twenty twenty just
- 1:49:26Speaker 1: to hear how wrong we were?
- 1:49:29Speaker 3: I think it was part of the culture.
- 1:49:30Speaker 1: Yeah, that's crazy, It would be funny. Yeah what you said. Yeah,
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: we're having some dragon debate or character development.
- 1:49:36Speaker 2: I would just like touched some grass, like do something
- 1:49:39Speaker 2: all to talk about who will the Patriots pick? Eldred
- 1:49:42Speaker 2: wanted Pennix laugh out loud. Also, I give most of
- 1:49:47Speaker 2: you credit for hating on McCarthy. During this time, there
- 1:49:50Speaker 2: was talk you couldn't take a quarterback unless you have
- 1:49:52Speaker 2: the talent around him. Can we now put that to bed,
- 1:49:56Speaker 2: that whole theory to bed. If you have the quarterback,
- 1:49:59Speaker 2: then you will become a good, great team.
- 1:50:01Speaker 1: I agree with that.
- 1:50:02Speaker 2: I mean, when you have the opportunity to take the guy,
- 1:50:05Speaker 2: get the guy, forget about who you else you have.
- 1:50:07Speaker 1: On the team. That's our philosophy. That's our philosophy. Other people, well,
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: I think, well that's wrong, But I think they're just wrong. Different.
- 1:50:15Speaker 6: Well, there's levels to it though, right, Like, Drake May
- 1:50:17Speaker 6: is a different level of prospect than JJ McCarthy and
- 1:50:19Speaker 6: Michael Pennock's were, so like I would probably have I
- 1:50:24Speaker 6: don't think that JJ McCarthy's career would have gone so
- 1:50:26Speaker 6: well if he had come here.
- 1:50:27Speaker 4: Drake May, I think, is just transcending.
- 1:50:28Speaker 3: I'm going to hold off on my apples to apples
- 1:50:32Speaker 3: comparison another ten minutes, another nine minutes.
- 1:50:34Speaker 1: I think I can make it. Oh you're going on
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: catch on two? No, Oh, I'll give you my counter.
- 1:50:39Speaker 1: What is the reunion show?
- 1:50:41Speaker 2: On ninety eight point five July ninth, July ninth, because
- 1:50:44Speaker 2: every Monday I tune into ninety eight point five.
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: Oh maybe this is the day that Paul was this reunion. Yeah,
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: two weeks from tomorrow. Yeah, okay, that's huge, huge.
- 1:50:56Speaker 3: It's a World Cup day too, so we will not
- 1:50:58Speaker 3: be here.
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: That's right, that's the quarterfinal. That's the last World Cup
- 1:51:05Speaker 1: game here.
- 1:51:07Speaker 5: God, are you curious how long it's going to take
- 1:51:08Speaker 5: them to like get back to normal here with all
- 1:51:10Speaker 5: the structures that they have outside of the stadium, like.
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: Feels like a city.
- 1:51:15Speaker 4: What do you think a week?
- 1:51:17Speaker 5: Well, if you like a concert, you know, like concerts,
- 1:51:19Speaker 5: you come in and it's like, my god, they are
- 1:51:20Speaker 5: already out the door.
- 1:51:21Speaker 1: But I mean, I don't imagine there's a rush to
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: get everything packed up.
- 1:51:24Speaker 2: Well yeah, I mean certainly, the the sponsors that paid
- 1:51:28Speaker 2: for you know, visuals within the Bowl, you got to
- 1:51:32Speaker 2: get those done first, you know, and then work your way.
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: Out and get those gillettes pretty quick.
- 1:51:39Speaker 2: But you know, they did keep the Super Bowl banners,
- 1:51:42Speaker 2: and I think that was a smart move because I
- 1:51:45Speaker 2: think that every teams, every stadium should have that something
- 1:51:49Speaker 2: to tell people where they are.
- 1:51:52Speaker 1: You know, like we are in the home of the Patriots,
- 1:51:54Speaker 1: right and we're watching it too.
- 1:51:56Speaker 5: Like I understand why they wanted to rename all the
- 1:51:59Speaker 5: stadiums for an international audience that you know, you want
- 1:52:01Speaker 5: to have a sense of where in the country they are.
- 1:52:03Speaker 8: And you know, it's not just that it's.
- 1:52:08Speaker 2: Now that we've seen and you know, a lot of
- 1:52:10Speaker 2: us didn't need to be have this proven to us.
- 1:52:12Speaker 2: But now that we see how massive this event is
- 1:52:16Speaker 2: on a global scale, why should brand X be getting
- 1:52:20Speaker 2: free exposure just because they're at the stadium. I can
- 1:52:24Speaker 2: understand FIFA saying, no, if you want to ride our coattails,
- 1:52:27Speaker 2: you got to pay up. I can't understand that we
- 1:52:30Speaker 2: would do the same thing. We would do the same thing.
- 1:52:33Speaker 5: It's not a hard negotiation though, you know, from from
- 1:52:35Speaker 5: our perspective as an organization, you have to deal with
- 1:52:39Speaker 5: and you're gonna you know what I mean, Like, how
- 1:52:40Speaker 5: do Jillette feel about that, being like it's not going
- 1:52:42Speaker 5: to be.
- 1:52:44Speaker 8: Wanted to?
- 1:52:45Speaker 7: You know, they could like FIFA's sponsors that are paying
- 1:52:48Speaker 7: all this money to be on.
- 1:52:50Speaker 8: This global stage.
- 1:52:51Speaker 2: I just.
- 1:52:52Speaker 8: I think that you know, guitar though they're first in mind,
- 1:52:59Speaker 8: I just.
- 1:52:59Speaker 1: Think it's greed. It's I mean, there's nothing wrong with that.
- 1:53:05Speaker 2: Like if you and you've built this, you've built this
- 1:53:08Speaker 2: event up to be such a global event, I think
- 1:53:11Speaker 2: you have the right to, you know, leverage it and
- 1:53:15Speaker 2: benefit from it.
- 1:53:16Speaker 1: I think that they certainly had the right they did it.
- 1:53:18Speaker 6: The banners though, you are right because in multiple times
- 1:53:21Speaker 6: I've heard usually pre game they'll say like, oh, you know,
- 1:53:25Speaker 6: Earling Holland's playing in Tom Brady's house, and then they
- 1:53:29Speaker 6: just like panned to the you know, it's like they
- 1:53:32Speaker 6: all the all the commentators are loving saying like this
- 1:53:35Speaker 6: is we're here in the Patriots play here.
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: I think to win for everybody.
- 1:53:39Speaker 3: I have noticed they put in the little bug too,
- 1:53:41Speaker 3: like you know World Cup Boston, Dallas or Boston.
- 1:53:46Speaker 5: Because it's New York, New Jersey, right, like it's where
- 1:53:50Speaker 5: the finals were.
- 1:53:52Speaker 2: Calling international fans, it's New Jersey. It's not New York.
- 1:53:55Speaker 2: They're playing in New Jersey.
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: Are they playing in New York stadium?
- 1:53:58Speaker 6: Though they're playing in New Jersey, New York, New Jersey,
- 1:54:01Speaker 6: New York State, New York, New Jersey Stadium And that's
- 1:54:03Speaker 6: where the that's where the final is. And I think
- 1:54:05Speaker 6: it's funny because I've seen pictures online of some foreign
- 1:54:10Speaker 6: fans that are like, think that MetLife is this like
- 1:54:12Speaker 6: taj Mahal Mecca, And I'm just like, I think that
- 1:54:15Speaker 6: that's maybe one of the worst stadiums in the It's
- 1:54:18Speaker 6: one of the worst new stadiums.
- 1:54:19Speaker 4: It looks like an air conditioner.
- 1:54:20Speaker 1: Well it doesn't. But there's a lot of club and
- 1:54:23Speaker 1: suites and that's good.
- 1:54:24Speaker 2: And also the time zones right because it's an international game,
- 1:54:27Speaker 2: and I understand why they wanted to.
- 1:54:30Speaker 4: Do it on the East Coast, but I don't know.
- 1:54:32Speaker 4: There's nicer stadiums.
- 1:54:33Speaker 2: Yeah, oh for sure, Atlanta. I mean, if you're gonna
- 1:54:36Speaker 2: it's either Dallas or so Fire the two best.
- 1:54:39Speaker 4: Atlanta's really nice too at really nice cool roof.
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: Okay, we're coming to the end here quickly.
- 1:54:49Speaker 2: The Patriots have the tenth lowest cast spending in the
- 1:54:52Speaker 2: league and the sixth highest cap space. They also have,
- 1:54:56Speaker 2: in my opinion, clear needs for veteran depth at multiple positions.
- 1:55:00Speaker 2: Do you expect them to add veteran free agents in
- 1:55:02Speaker 2: training camp? If not, are they really comfortable with the
- 1:55:05Speaker 2: likes of kJ Britton, Kendall vildor playing meaningful snaps in
- 1:55:09Speaker 2: twenty twenty six, and that's Noah from Toronto.
- 1:55:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I mean, were able talked about the
- 1:55:15Speaker 1: tight end position.
- 1:55:16Speaker 5: I don't think we'd any of us to be surprised
- 1:55:17Speaker 5: to see suddenly a veteran nose tackle arrive late.
- 1:55:21Speaker 1: You know, one of those guys in their early thirties.
- 1:55:22Speaker 3: There's but not for substantial money answer, And I would
- 1:55:26Speaker 3: just say, how many you know, significant snaps that Charles
- 1:55:30Speaker 3: Woods get last year or Alex Austin because those are
- 1:55:32Speaker 3: the two guys that were the fourth corner at times
- 1:55:34Speaker 3: last year, and that theoretically is what Kendall Vildor would
- 1:55:38Speaker 3: be if he makes the team.
- 1:55:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, we still have Chuckie Trees.
- 1:55:41Speaker 6: But I would just say, too, like we know the
- 1:55:45Speaker 6: third linebacker in the fourth corner on the Patriots, because
- 1:55:48Speaker 6: we followed the Patriots. Every team is having a conversation
- 1:55:51Speaker 6: about do we have enough depth at this place on
- 1:55:54Speaker 6: our roster or that place on the roster. It's I
- 1:55:57Speaker 6: don't know who every team's third linebacker is, but I'm
- 1:56:00Speaker 6: sure it's not somebody that's worlds better than kJ Britt
- 1:56:03Speaker 6: for the most part.
- 1:56:03Speaker 1: Speaking of initials, H CJS in kc Arrowhead don't.
- 1:56:12Speaker 14: Yeah, some guys, I what I joined late, but I
- 1:56:15Speaker 14: joined in your conversation about how you don't like commentators
- 1:56:20Speaker 14: using the language firm like where you know, from overseas
- 1:56:26Speaker 14: and stuff like that. If it was reversed like when
- 1:56:29Speaker 14: you know, the NFL goes over to you know, the
- 1:56:32Speaker 14: UK and stuff like that, if they if they're commentators,
- 1:56:36Speaker 14: their local commentators all are calling it a football field
- 1:56:39Speaker 14: rather than a pitch.
- 1:56:41Speaker 9: Does that bother you at all?
- 1:56:42Speaker 1: Yeah? See, that's my point. I kind of like, yes,
- 1:56:45Speaker 1: thank you for doing it the way it should be.
- 1:56:48Speaker 2: That's kind of the my point, Like, yes, I would
- 1:56:50Speaker 2: expect them to do the like embrace, embrace the sport,
- 1:56:53Speaker 2: don't try to change it.
- 1:56:56Speaker 1: That I agree.
- 1:56:58Speaker 4: That's kind of how I look at it to thank you,
- 1:57:02Speaker 4: good good call.
- 1:57:03Speaker 1: Thanks CJ.
- 1:57:04Speaker 18: No.
- 1:57:05Speaker 1: But the thing about it, continuing our semantics argument, but the.
- 1:57:09Speaker 2: Thing about it, But the thing about it, like football
- 1:57:12Speaker 2: is an inherently American sport, soccer is international, so every
- 1:57:17Speaker 2: country probably has a different name for what the field
- 1:57:21Speaker 2: is or you know, so it's kind.
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: Of hard to do that.
- 1:57:25Speaker 2: Now.
- 1:57:25Speaker 6: I don't know this for a fact, but based off
- 1:57:28Speaker 6: of my interactions over the last week or so. Everybody
- 1:57:33Speaker 6: that can speak English calls it a pitch that I've
- 1:57:37Speaker 6: spoken to. What do you mean if you are a
- 1:57:40Speaker 6: person from a foreign country that's here that I've had
- 1:57:43Speaker 6: the pleasure of speaking to over the last week, whether
- 1:57:46Speaker 6: they're from England or Scotland, or France or where Morocco.
- 1:57:51Speaker 2: Anyone from a different country who happens to speak English
