- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the moment then, that we've all been waiting
- 0:02Speaker 1: for for in a romax.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Here comes Oscar Piastree, Lando Norrith.
- 0:07Speaker 1: I aren't playing hardball out there at the moment, Steve
- 0:10Speaker 1: Peverchel Moment of twenty twenty four.
- 0:16Speaker 3: Hello, and welcome to Pit Talk, brought to you by Shannon's.
- 0:20Speaker 3: On this week's episode, Oscar Piastri claims a comprehensive victory
- 0:25Speaker 3: at the bar rain In Grand Prix to get three
- 0:26Speaker 3: points within the championship lead. And on let's be honest,
- 0:30Speaker 3: pretty hectic week of motorsport, we're gonna be checking in
- 0:32Speaker 3: with the Kata Motorcycle Grand Prix and over in Topaur
- 0:35Speaker 3: the Supercars Round.
- 0:36Speaker 2: My name is Michael Lomonado.
- 0:38Speaker 3: It's great to have your company and the company of
- 0:40Speaker 3: my co host. I know we missed out on hearing
- 0:42Speaker 3: this over the course of the weekend, so I'll do it.
- 0:44Speaker 3: Thank you ever so much for getting up for this podcast.
- 0:46Speaker 3: Matt Clayton, I'm not sure it be to bed together.
- 0:49Speaker 1: It's definitely been one of those weekends where everywhere you
- 0:52Speaker 1: look this something going around a track somewhere.
- 0:54Speaker 4: But I kin't have too much of that, can you.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Yeah, Well, this weekend might have found.
- 0:59Speaker 3: You can probably get any close to having too much
- 1:01Speaker 3: of that because we were operating in virtually every time
- 1:03Speaker 3: zone around the clock. Matt, Yeah, have been to bed yet,
- 1:06Speaker 3: but we're we're going a soldier on. Well, thanks not
- 1:09Speaker 3: only for getting up but staying up. I suppose let's start,
- 1:12Speaker 3: yes with the bar Rain Grand Prix, Round four of
- 1:15Speaker 3: the championship Oscar Piastre one. That's his second Grand Prix
- 1:18Speaker 3: victory of this season, now just three points off the
- 1:21Speaker 3: championship lead. The leader continues to be Lando Norris. Had
- 1:24Speaker 3: Norris not finished on the podium, we'll talk about this
- 1:26Speaker 3: as we go through this, he would have taken the
- 1:27Speaker 3: championship lead first Australian driver. Preempting this a little bit,
- 1:31Speaker 3: he would have been the best Australian drivers in s
- 1:33Speaker 3: markwere but in twenty ten to lead the championship. This
- 1:36Speaker 3: felt like, I mean, it felt very similar to his
- 1:38Speaker 3: Chinese Grand Prix winning many respects. Led from pole, no
- 1:41Speaker 3: one seemed to bother him very much throughout the race.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Very straightforward victory, very Oscar Piastre victory. But this one
- 1:46Speaker 3: in the context of how Lando Norris performed on the
- 1:49Speaker 3: same weekend seemed to carry a little bit more meaning,
- 1:52Speaker 3: certainly if you read into Norris's response.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I thought it was actually more emphatic than China,
- 1:57Speaker 1: simply because China there was that specter of or Islando
- 2:00Speaker 1: going to catch up in the final stint? What's going
- 2:02Speaker 1: on with his breaks? Is there a possibility of a
- 2:04Speaker 1: late race charge here? This was never in doubt, and
- 2:08Speaker 1: it was never in doubt twice because we had the
- 2:11Speaker 1: inverted Commas Hollywood safety car towards the end of the
- 2:13Speaker 1: race to make things interesting when there was some Debrison
- 2:15Speaker 1: track and that brought the field back into contention after
- 2:19Speaker 1: Oscar pretty much left everybody for dead in that first
- 2:21Speaker 1: couple of stints, and he thought, well, you know, perhaps
- 2:23Speaker 1: there's some jeopardy here for him, and then very calmly
- 2:26Speaker 1: just drove away and continued on his merry way and
- 2:29Speaker 1: the whole weekend from qualifying and how unflustered he was,
- 2:32Speaker 1: and right the way through the race, just outstanding from
- 2:36Speaker 1: start to finish. He's not had a race win like this,
- 2:39Speaker 1: and I don't think that's going to be the last
- 2:40Speaker 1: time we see this, because you can just see the
- 2:43Speaker 1: confidence and I think the calmness with Pastre at the moment,
- 2:46Speaker 1: he knows he can do this, he knows he's got
- 2:48Speaker 1: the machinery, he knows he belongs and now it's just
- 2:50Speaker 1: a matter of methodically executing that.
- 2:52Speaker 4: And I just thought it was a completely flaw this weekend.
- 2:55Speaker 2: There's been this interesting element as well with Oscar this season.
- 2:57Speaker 3: I know, were only four rounds in and this is
- 2:59Speaker 3: what his ass I've emphasized for Grand Prix and enough
- 3:02Speaker 3: in the twenty four Grand Prix season make any conclusions,
- 3:05Speaker 3: but it's interesting that in this sumple size we had.
- 3:07Speaker 3: I know we're going back a bit here, but Australia
- 3:09Speaker 3: and China in particular Bahrain's a bit of an outline
- 3:11Speaker 3: because McLaren's always been quite bad here. It hasn't been
- 3:13Speaker 3: an Oscar Piastre thing. But nonetheless, we've seen a lot
- 3:16Speaker 3: of races where Oscar hasn't had great results in the
- 3:19Speaker 3: last couple of years of his career, and he's turned
- 3:21Speaker 3: up this season. He's been really quite good at all, well,
- 3:23Speaker 3: he's been quite good at all Grand Prix. I think
- 3:24Speaker 3: you can even mount an argument that he's been the
- 3:26Speaker 3: fastest race driver so far this season.
- 3:28Speaker 2: If he hasn't won all of the races.
- 3:31Speaker 3: That step seemed that step we talked about during the
- 3:33Speaker 3: off season about what he needed to become potentially a
- 3:36Speaker 3: world championship contender. It feels a lot like at this
- 3:39Speaker 3: stage it's been made.
- 3:40Speaker 4: It feels like it's happened very quickly.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Too.
- 3:43Speaker 1: You look at some of the rough edges that he's
- 3:45Speaker 1: earned out over the past couple of years. He had
- 3:47Speaker 1: the big qualifying deficit last year and Norris was twenty
- 3:49Speaker 1: to four, and that's emphatic in Norris's favor. But he
- 3:53Speaker 1: seems to have addressed that very very quickly and is
- 3:55Speaker 1: less of those little mistakes in qualifying. And we know
- 3:58Speaker 1: that he cleaned up a lot of his time management
- 3:59Speaker 1: linelast year, so he's much more proficient at that. He
- 4:02Speaker 1: is the very different definition of a fast learner, and
- 4:05Speaker 1: you can see the change in him just in four
- 4:07Speaker 1: Grand Prix weekends this year. I think the most surprising
- 4:11Speaker 1: thing to me is it looks totally unsurprising that he's
- 4:14Speaker 1: a front run and he looks so assured it's happened
- 4:16Speaker 1: super fast, and you know, we're four rounds into a
- 4:18Speaker 1: twenty four round season. This looks a legitimate and be
- 4:21Speaker 1: like it has staying power, and you know you don't
- 4:24Speaker 1: want to get too far ahead of yourselves here because
- 4:26Speaker 1: he's still off the championship lead. But this looks like
- 4:29Speaker 1: a championship push that can sustain the whole way through.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Now if McLaren continues with this car advantage they've got
- 4:35Speaker 1: at the moment, and you would expect in the final
- 4:36Speaker 1: year of a rule set, you quite often see these
- 4:39Speaker 1: baked in advantages carry on for longer in a season
- 4:42Speaker 1: because the other teams turn the development tap off and
- 4:44Speaker 1: they look towards twenty twenty six. So if we have
- 4:46Speaker 1: a fairly standard season like we've had when we've had
- 4:49Speaker 1: these really big rule changes in the past, I think
- 4:51Speaker 1: twenty thirteen is the one for me. When red bullwarp dominant,
- 4:54Speaker 1: everyone else looked at twenty fourteen, sob actually INVERTI wiped
- 4:57Speaker 1: the floor with everybody at the end of twenty thirteen.
- 4:59Speaker 1: This has got that claren feel about it. Other than
- 5:01Speaker 1: extenuating circumstances like a bit of rain or Maximstaff and Suzuka,
- 5:06Speaker 1: so you know you're looking at the possibility of two
- 5:08Speaker 1: guys fighting for the world title. I'm not sure I
- 5:10Speaker 1: was ready to say Piastre was ready to win that
- 5:13Speaker 1: this time last year.
- 5:14Speaker 4: He looks completely legit to me.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Yeah, he's really interesting that step change, because we talked
- 5:19Speaker 3: about at the beginning of last year and it was
- 5:22Speaker 3: a little bit easier to say because it was his
- 5:23Speaker 3: rookie season, and of course he's going to make progress.
- 5:25Speaker 3: But that trajectory that McLaren talks a lot about just
- 5:28Speaker 3: feels completely uninterrupted at this point. I think it's going
- 5:31Speaker 3: to be really interesting to see how that develops over
- 5:33Speaker 3: the course of the season because he continues to get better.
- 5:35Speaker 3: That's the sort of interesting element of this. We talked
- 5:39Speaker 3: about this, and we joked about this on the podcast
- 5:40Speaker 3: during the week, which you can go and find at
- 5:42Speaker 3: the Fox Sports website or wherever you get your favorite
- 5:44Speaker 3: podcasts that you know. Christian Horner said after the Japanese Grandfer,
- 5:48Speaker 3: which Maxwis staffin one, that McLaren's problem was having well,
- 5:50Speaker 3: two competitive drivers and it's made its bead and must.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Lay in it.
- 5:53Speaker 4: Now.
- 5:53Speaker 2: I think it's his phrase in a weird way.
- 5:58Speaker 3: There's this tiny little shred of life that you can
- 6:00Speaker 3: kind of take out of that, which is that for
- 6:03Speaker 3: the driver's championship perspective, Well, Lando and Oscar both can
- 6:06Speaker 3: be taking points of each other, but Max is just
- 6:08Speaker 3: going to be the only driver on his behalf when
- 6:10Speaker 3: Red Bull Racing.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Is competitive winning those points. I kind of get that element.
- 6:14Speaker 3: But the other part of this is that McLaren's always
- 6:16Speaker 3: there and for example, Red Bull Racing wasn't this weekend,
- 6:18Speaker 3: and Mercedes always the second fastest, but I haven't got
- 6:21Speaker 3: the senset that they're a car that could win a race.
- 6:23Speaker 3: They con finished second a lot, but not there and
- 6:26Speaker 3: Ferrari's Ferrari maybe later on in the year. But so
- 6:29Speaker 3: it does feel like regardless of whether land Or and
- 6:32Speaker 3: Oscar competing with one another, they've got enough clear air
- 6:35Speaker 3: to score points on themselves and be okay. So I
- 6:37Speaker 3: want to talk about Lando Norris here because he was
- 6:38Speaker 3: the missing element in this. In China, as you said earlier,
- 6:41Speaker 3: there were these circumstances that men Aka was never comfortable
- 6:44Speaker 3: with that track, but he was kind of competitive enough
- 6:46Speaker 3: and at the end of the race maybe he was
- 6:48Speaker 3: there about to those break problems. There was no sense
- 6:51Speaker 3: this weekend that Lando was on Oscar's pace. This was
- 6:53Speaker 3: Oscar's weekend, not just McLaren's weekend. Let's say it like
- 6:56Speaker 3: that and really quite despondent, significant amount of despondency, I
- 7:01Speaker 3: think zerry word I can think of that really sums
- 7:03Speaker 3: it up so clearly for Lando, especially after qualifying. I
- 7:06Speaker 3: mean we see he's fond of a bit of self flatullation.
- 7:09Speaker 3: I think when he does not danger well, we've got
- 7:11Speaker 3: a lot of that after qualifying and even after the race,
- 7:13Speaker 3: recovering with the podium, saying well I should have finished
- 7:16Speaker 3: at least second and I finished third and that's disappointing.
- 7:19Speaker 3: That's part of his game, isn't it this sort of
- 7:21Speaker 3: intense self criticism. But does it revealed do you think
- 7:24Speaker 3: a little bit about where the dynamic in this potential
- 7:27Speaker 3: potential championship battle is going to play out?
- 7:29Speaker 2: Well?
- 7:29Speaker 1: I think, particularly if you contrast the way that Oscar
- 7:32Speaker 1: goes about his racing, where there's minimal radio chatter and
- 7:35Speaker 1: it's very flat line. It's not super peaky good or bad.
- 7:38Speaker 1: He just wants information, doesn't say a whole lot very reserve.
- 7:41Speaker 1: This is a man that's in control and he has
- 7:44Speaker 1: complete belief in what he's doing, and he if he
- 7:47Speaker 1: has some vulnerabilities, he's not willing to share them, and
- 7:51Speaker 1: I think that's something that he can seize upon. Now,
- 7:53Speaker 1: there could be a cultural thing here or personalities, but
- 7:56Speaker 1: the way Norris reacts to adversity, to me, I think
- 7:59Speaker 1: you can perhaps Look. I appreciate the honesty, and I
- 8:02Speaker 1: think every Formula One driver goes through these periods of
- 8:04Speaker 1: doubt like this. But you can get away with this
- 8:06Speaker 1: in a championship where the other protagonists in the championship
- 8:09Speaker 1: and not just within your own team. If you've got
- 8:11Speaker 1: a deeper championship field and you're spreading this around, there's
- 8:14Speaker 1: different guys that are winning races and they're not you,
- 8:17Speaker 1: then perhaps you can get away with this. But when
- 8:19Speaker 1: the person that is most likely to capitalize on your
- 8:22Speaker 1: worst days is your teammate in the same car, in
- 8:25Speaker 1: the same team, I don't know whether you should be
- 8:28Speaker 1: showing all of your cards here because I think it's
- 8:30Speaker 1: an area that Piastre can really chip away at, because
- 8:34Speaker 1: you know that psychologically Orlando can get very, very.
- 8:37Speaker 4: Down on himself.
- 8:38Speaker 1: And I just think the dynamic of this is going
- 8:40Speaker 1: to be super interesting because Piastre is managed by Mark Webber,
- 8:43Speaker 1: and one of Mark Weber's sayings was you know, I
- 8:45Speaker 1: am giving nothing. He would give you absolutely nothing except
- 8:49Speaker 1: for the odd f moment and radio message, which Piastre
- 8:52Speaker 1: is not going to do. Piastre is going to show
- 8:54Speaker 1: Norris absolutely no vulnerability psychologically. And this strikes me as
- 8:59Speaker 1: a championship be one as much between the years as
- 9:01Speaker 1: between the white lines. I think there's a lot going
- 9:03Speaker 1: on with these two different personalities here and the way
- 9:06Speaker 1: Pastre's working it. I think he sees that he's got
- 9:09Speaker 1: something here that he can use it to his advantage.
- 9:11Speaker 2: I think it's really interesting.
- 9:12Speaker 3: In the post race press conference, obviously both drivers are asked, well,
- 9:15Speaker 3: why is the car working for you, Oscar and not Lando?
- 9:18Speaker 3: And Lando doesn't have any answers at this moment. I'm
- 9:19Speaker 3: sure he's got some ideas and he's not going to
- 9:21Speaker 3: give them all away, but he did say he was
- 9:23Speaker 3: really just confounded by the fact he can't take this
- 9:26Speaker 3: car to the limit like he could last year's car.
- 9:28Speaker 3: McLaren has talked about the fact that it's made some
- 9:30Speaker 3: compromises on driveability to try and take a step forward,
- 9:33Speaker 3: and then Oscar has asked the question, well, what's going
- 9:35Speaker 3: on with you? You're finding these struggles with the car
- 9:37Speaker 3: and he said, no, Cark was great. I'm getting a
- 9:40Speaker 3: lot of pace out of it. Seems like it's working
- 9:41Speaker 3: fine for me. And I don't think he was stirring
- 9:43Speaker 3: the pot in any deliberate way because it's not really
- 9:46Speaker 3: Oscar style. But the contrast there was stark and if
- 9:49Speaker 3: you Orlando, they're sitting and you're obviously hearing him the
- 9:51Speaker 3: debrief as well in the team. Because Oscar's not giving
- 9:53Speaker 3: any negative feedback about the car presumably or nothing as
- 9:56Speaker 3: dire as Lando's would be, You're starting to think, well,
- 10:00Speaker 3: why can't I get that out of the car. And
- 10:02Speaker 3: it's certainly nowhere near as significant as, for example, Lewis
- 10:05Speaker 3: Hamilton's current grappling with the Ferrari in this transitional if
- 10:09Speaker 3: you want to go back to even Daniel Ricardo McLaren
- 10:10Speaker 3: against land know Norris, because Norris is still finishing on
- 10:13Speaker 3: the podium and still polkand and and all that kind
- 10:15Speaker 3: of thing, but there's just that little element of well,
- 10:18Speaker 3: why can't I do that?
- 10:19Speaker 1: And I think the interesting part for me is if
- 10:21Speaker 1: you roll reverse and this will happen with this car
- 10:23Speaker 1: this year because it clearly is the class of the field.
- 10:25Speaker 1: There will be a weekend where Norris does to Piastre
- 10:28Speaker 1: what Piastre did to Norris this weekend in Bahrain. How
- 10:32Speaker 1: Oscar responds to that, I don't think he's going to
- 10:36Speaker 1: give as much away. He's not going to be as
- 10:38Speaker 1: raw and exposed, and that he'll take his medicine and
- 10:41Speaker 1: he'll say, look, there's plenty of learnings to come and
- 10:43Speaker 1: so on, but there'll be a lot more measured, a
- 10:45Speaker 1: lot more reserved. He's not going to leave any low
- 10:47Speaker 1: hanging fruit out there that could be seized upon. Because
- 10:49Speaker 1: if this shakes out the way we think it's going
- 10:51Speaker 1: to shake out psychologically, this championship takes a different term,
- 10:54Speaker 1: perhaps after mid season, if everyone else is buttoned off
- 10:57Speaker 1: and they're looking at twenty twenty six. If this is
- 10:59Speaker 1: ahead to head battle and you look at Norris as
- 11:02Speaker 1: the homegrown protege within McLaren and Pastre's coming in after
- 11:05Speaker 1: he swirmed his way out of the Alpine deal. If
- 11:08Speaker 1: he comes in and sort of beats the guy that
- 11:10Speaker 1: they've raised since he was seventeen years old, you know,
- 11:12Speaker 1: head to a world championship fight. Now they have a
- 11:14Speaker 1: car to do it. It'll be so interesting from a
- 11:17Speaker 1: mental perspective as this season goes on.
- 11:19Speaker 3: Something that we'll be watching before we move on for
- 11:21Speaker 3: the next couple of races. As well as that, I
- 11:22Speaker 3: felt like there was a little bit of a dynamic
- 11:24Speaker 3: shift this weekend, not the internal power of McLaren because
- 11:27Speaker 3: I don't really believe there's any big changes in the
- 11:29Speaker 3: way they're approaching things. They're going to be even handed.
- 11:31Speaker 3: Lando Norris, as we've said, still an extremely quick driver.
- 11:34Speaker 3: This is one race we're talking about as well. They
- 11:36Speaker 3: could win the next four races. We're having completely different discussion.
- 11:39Speaker 3: But so much of this season was about, well, how's
- 11:41Speaker 3: Lando going to beat Max with staff into the championship.
- 11:43Speaker 3: That was the rivalry that we saw at the end
- 11:45Speaker 3: of last season.
- 11:47Speaker 2: We've got a little bit of glimpse of that this year.
- 11:48Speaker 3: I mean in Japan, obviously Max was on form, and
- 11:51Speaker 3: in Australia as well it was challenging for victory. But
- 11:53Speaker 3: I think this weekend emphasized that Red Bull Racing has
- 11:55Speaker 3: some pre significant problems to overcome, and suddenly I wonder
- 11:59Speaker 3: how much land those thinking Oscar is not just going
- 12:02Speaker 3: to be here a winning like.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Every three or four races like last year.
- 12:05Speaker 3: It was often in contention but maybe not absolutely sething
- 12:07Speaker 3: the deal, and it's Max is the guy who's going
- 12:10Speaker 3: to be winning the races now. I wonder how much
- 12:13Speaker 3: is an adjustment to think, well, actually it's the guy
- 12:15Speaker 3: in the other garage now that I really need to
- 12:16Speaker 3: be thinking about, because Max may not come good, Red
- 12:19Speaker 3: Bull racing may not come good.
- 12:20Speaker 2: They're hinging.
- 12:21Speaker 3: It feels like they're hanging a lot on this rule
- 12:23Speaker 3: reinterpretation the Spanish Grand Prix out front wings. McLaren's adamant
- 12:27Speaker 3: nothing's going to change, just like it didn't with the
- 12:29Speaker 3: rear wings a couple of rounds ago. It really could
- 12:32Speaker 3: just be between the two of them, and that is
- 12:34Speaker 3: an approach shift.
- 12:35Speaker 1: It's almost easier to focus on your main opponent if
- 12:38Speaker 1: they're not wearing the same Overall, it's very much an
- 12:40Speaker 1: US versus them. When it's us versus us, that's a
- 12:44Speaker 1: really different dynamic because then there's a degree of paranoia
- 12:47Speaker 1: that starts to creep in too. Is he getting the
- 12:49Speaker 1: new parts before me? Is he getting a better strategy
- 12:51Speaker 1: than me? Why is he getting the undercut?
- 12:53Speaker 4: Why am I not?
- 12:54Speaker 1: What's happening in engineering briefings? Are they keeping stuff back,
- 12:57Speaker 1: there's all that level of paranoia because you know how
- 12:59Speaker 1: the team operates internally, whereas if it's Norris versus Verstappen,
- 13:03Speaker 1: Atlanta has no idea what goes on within the walls
- 13:05Speaker 1: of Red Bull and how to operate. Sometimes it's easier
- 13:08Speaker 1: to fight someone when you don't know necessarily what they're doing,
- 13:11Speaker 1: because there's that degree of a lack of knowledge. They're
- 13:14Speaker 1: just the guy in the other team I need to be.
- 13:16Speaker 1: When it's within your own team, it's a very different dynamic.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Yeah, when you don't know what they're doing, and when
- 13:20Speaker 3: more importantly you know they don't know what you're doing.
- 13:23Speaker 2: So that's part of the reason as well.
- 13:24Speaker 4: I wouldn't have said that better.
- 13:26Speaker 3: I'm sure you could bout a way. Let's move on
- 13:28Speaker 3: now to move of the week by Shannon's.
- 13:34Speaker 2: Now.
- 13:34Speaker 3: Unlike last week or the week before, and it was
- 13:37Speaker 3: a lot going on of course motorsport. We had no
- 13:39Speaker 3: shortage of options, plenty of racing action over three different
- 13:43Speaker 3: disciplines this weekend. What caught your eye over the NonStop
- 13:47Speaker 3: twenty four hours, seven days a week.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Of racing, Yes, a coupmember, a time where there was
- 13:51Speaker 1: no racing I'm going to go two wheels here.
- 13:54Speaker 4: Motor GP.
- 13:54Speaker 2: YEP.
- 13:55Speaker 1: We had a situation that was so shocking that even
- 13:58Speaker 1: Mark Marquez didn't know what was going on because he
- 14:00Speaker 1: was passed for second place by a KTM on Lap
- 14:03Speaker 1: ten of the Catar Grand Prix on Sunday, and quite rightly,
- 14:06Speaker 1: he thought that KTM is probably Pedro Acosta, given that
- 14:10Speaker 1: a cost as usually the guy getting most out of
- 14:11Speaker 1: the KTM. To his great surprise, he realized it was
- 14:14Speaker 1: Maverick Vignalees, who we have not seen or heard from
- 14:17Speaker 1: the entire season, and Vignales was just on one of
- 14:20Speaker 1: his I'm going to be you know, Maverick and Mercurial
- 14:23Speaker 1: at the same time put an incredible move on Mark
- 14:25Speaker 1: to get to second place and then took the lead
- 14:27Speaker 1: of the Catar Grand Prix. And afterwards Marquez is like, well,
- 14:30Speaker 1: I got passed by KTM. That was interesting, and then
- 14:32Speaker 1: I was shocked that it was him. And this is
- 14:35Speaker 1: what happens with Maverick Vinales. Once or twice a year,
- 14:37Speaker 1: he looks like the best rider in Motor GP, and
- 14:38Speaker 1: then you'll look at the classification and realize that he
- 14:41Speaker 1: is eighteenth. Yeah, it's always the good and the bad
- 14:44Speaker 1: and nothing in between. But that was my move of
- 14:46Speaker 1: the week A because it was very audacious and B
- 14:48Speaker 1: it was very surprising.
- 14:49Speaker 3: Yeah, and we will get back to Maverick Vinalas a
- 14:51Speaker 3: little bit later on as well. I'm going with Formula
- 14:53Speaker 3: one very early on in the bar Aim Grand Prix
- 14:56Speaker 3: wasn't a battle for the lead in factors, battle for
- 14:58Speaker 3: drivers and finished way off the podium. It was between
- 15:00Speaker 3: Lewis Hamilton and Carlos since a nice long running battle
- 15:03Speaker 3: from the start all the way through to the middle
- 15:05Speaker 3: sector didn't all rely on DRS, which, as much as
- 15:08Speaker 3: we enjoyed the action bar Raim, let's be honest, a
- 15:10Speaker 3: lot of it was just DRS initiated. And of course
- 15:13Speaker 3: there's the poignancy of this isn't it is a significance.
- 15:16Speaker 3: Carlos Science is driving a car that he's struggling with
- 15:19Speaker 3: at the moment. Is sort of a little bit of
- 15:20Speaker 3: an untold story so far this season, and maybe we'll
- 15:22Speaker 3: get you once we get to Europe. But not having
- 15:24Speaker 3: a great time in the Williams this weekend looked a
- 15:26Speaker 3: little bit better, and likewise, Louis Hamilon not having the
- 15:28Speaker 3: best of times at Ferrari. In fact, I feel like
- 15:30Speaker 3: it's in the last week that realities hit him a
- 15:33Speaker 3: little bit. You can see in his body language, and
- 15:35Speaker 3: there they were scrapping for sort of middling points would
- 15:37Speaker 3: have been significant for Carlos obviously, but for Lewis Hamilon
- 15:40Speaker 3: it's still like, well what am I doing here? And
- 15:43Speaker 3: Carlos put up a fight, like he argued the position
- 15:46Speaker 3: here knowing that his car wasn't gonna be able to
- 15:47Speaker 3: do it, And in the end Carlos eventually retired from
- 15:50Speaker 3: this race and Lewis Hamilton kind of finished middling in
- 15:52Speaker 3: the middle of the points. But I know, I love
- 15:55Speaker 3: it when drivers who find themselves in these kinds of
- 15:57Speaker 3: situations find themselves on track because inevitably there's that little
- 16:00Speaker 3: bit of extra significant.
- 16:01Speaker 1: And isn't it funny when you can see the body
- 16:03Speaker 1: language of a car in a fight as well, which
- 16:05Speaker 1: is like a ridiculous thing to say about a car,
- 16:06Speaker 1: but you could see that if Science's car had elbows,
- 16:10Speaker 1: they were I love the fact that he just fought
- 16:13Speaker 1: his corner in an inferior machine so strongly because it's like,
- 16:16Speaker 1: hang on, you're driving the car I used to drive.
- 16:18Speaker 1: You can have some ideas for the time. It was
- 16:20Speaker 1: very good fun nostulus.
- 16:21Speaker 3: Yeah, it was one of the many great passages of
- 16:24Speaker 3: racing from the vah Rain Grand Prix that was moving
- 16:27Speaker 3: the week thanks to Shannon's Matt. Let's move on to
- 16:31Speaker 3: one of my favorite segments of this video podcast, Interested
- 16:34Speaker 3: versus Experts. Many motorsport disciplines, of course covered on the
- 16:38Speaker 3: Fox Sports website with between them between us cover all
- 16:40Speaker 3: three of them this week, though I'm interested in Moto
- 16:44Speaker 3: GP interesting mostly because of the time zone meant I
- 16:46Speaker 3: was watching it a one replay obviously, I wasn't watching
- 16:48Speaker 3: it live, yes, but a great race in Kata overnight
- 16:52Speaker 3: or depending on when your listeners overnight during the day
- 16:54Speaker 3: if you're in Perth, maybe it's still technically at night.
- 16:56Speaker 2: I'm not sure exactly how the.
- 16:57Speaker 3: Time zone is converted, but I want to start with
- 17:01Speaker 3: I think the biggest takeaway from this race, which was
- 17:02Speaker 3: Jorge Martin's return and now pretty hasty return to hospital,
- 17:06Speaker 3: really quite injured in a significant crash, had a reasonable start.
- 17:09Speaker 3: I guess to the weekend that he finished the sprint
- 17:12Speaker 3: but couldn't finish the rates.
- 17:13Speaker 1: He has encountered a black cat and walk beneath the
- 17:16Speaker 1: ladder and done every possible thing you could be to
- 17:19Speaker 1: be unlucky. We know that he had a big crash
- 17:21Speaker 1: in preseason testing in Malaysia. He had the motocross accident
- 17:25Speaker 1: where he broke his left wrist. He was back this
- 17:26Speaker 1: weekend and then had a fall in the Grand Prix
- 17:29Speaker 1: and was hit by Fabio to jan Antonio, and they've
- 17:34Speaker 1: reassessed Monday night, Australian time. The extent to Martine's injury.
- 17:38Speaker 1: It looks like he has eight broken ribs and a
- 17:41Speaker 1: punctured lung. He's not been able to leave Katar, he's
- 17:43Speaker 1: still in the hospital.
- 17:44Speaker 4: There.
- 17:45Speaker 1: One of those accidents that when you see it in
- 17:47Speaker 1: the moment and you know the consequences of bikes hitting
- 17:52Speaker 1: riders prone across the track, you do sit up that
- 17:54Speaker 1: little bit straight. So we're very, very thankful that it's
- 17:57Speaker 1: no worse than eight broken ribs and a puncture lung.
- 17:59Speaker 1: As much as that sounds terrible to say, incredibly unlucky,
- 18:04Speaker 1: but incredibly lucky at the same time. And I think
- 18:07Speaker 1: you only had to see Fabio dejan Antonio's face after
- 18:10Speaker 1: the race when he realized what he had done. There
- 18:13Speaker 1: was still eight or nine laps to go in that race.
- 18:16Speaker 1: He's riding around afterwards saying, I'm looking at the big
- 18:18Speaker 1: screens to see how he's being treated because I don't
- 18:21Speaker 1: know if he's okay, because I know that I hit
- 18:23Speaker 1: him and the mental toll that takes on a rider.
- 18:26Speaker 1: But for Martine, it's just been an absolute nightmare since
- 18:29Speaker 1: he's come to a Prillier. He's done one Grown Prix weekend,
- 18:32Speaker 1: he's injured again. This season is a complete right off.
- 18:35Speaker 1: It was probably before he came to Qatar. He's not
- 18:37Speaker 1: on a to Caddy, so he's not going to win
- 18:39Speaker 1: to Caddy win everything. But at this point I think
- 18:41Speaker 1: his health and safety and the longevity of that contract
- 18:45Speaker 1: with a Prillier is far more important. So we're thankful
- 18:47Speaker 1: that he's okay, but my goodness, he is just so
- 18:49Speaker 1: so unlucky at the moment.
- 18:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:51Speaker 3: Bit a blow as well because it felt like he'd
- 18:53Speaker 3: timed his comeback relatively responsibly in the contact.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Yeah, as far as motor GP goes, I think I
- 18:58Speaker 1: was hoping to get through this. He can unscale the
- 19:00Speaker 1: following races at Hereth in Spain, and there is a
- 19:02Speaker 1: one day test after that race. So he missed basically
- 19:05Speaker 1: all the preseason testing. He just needs to do laps
- 19:08Speaker 1: on that RGP and get used to it, get used
- 19:10Speaker 1: to the team, speak the common language with them. He's
- 19:12Speaker 1: effectively at base camp of pre season and where four
- 19:16Speaker 1: rounds into the season. So that's why I said, I
- 19:18Speaker 1: think the rest of the season is really longer. Lends
- 19:21Speaker 1: twenty six rule change for twenty seven. What happens after that,
- 19:24Speaker 1: but just shocking luck for him, But we're glad he's okay.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Yeah, Well, let's talk about the winner of this race.
- 19:29Speaker 2: M Marquez? Is that right?
- 19:31Speaker 1: If I read that correctly, I might have heard of him,
- 19:33Speaker 1: might have seen that name before. For those counting at home.
- 19:36Speaker 1: That's seven wins from eight starts this year, and the
- 19:39Speaker 1: one that he didn't win he crashed from at the
- 19:41Speaker 1: lead in Texas, as he is wont to do. But
- 19:44Speaker 1: the thing I'm loving about what Mark's doing this year
- 19:46Speaker 1: is old Mark would go out there on the best bike,
- 19:49Speaker 1: or not the best bike if he was riding a Honda,
- 19:51Speaker 1: and try and pulverize everybody with pace and risk taking.
- 19:56Speaker 1: It's just maybe a bit of age and the fact
- 19:58Speaker 1: he's come back from so many injuries riding super smart
- 20:01Speaker 1: this year in that there's yes, I'm qualifying on pole,
- 20:05Speaker 1: I'm not going out there as.
- 20:06Speaker 4: The hair at the start of these races.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Frankeo Morbidelli took the lead at the start of this
- 20:10Speaker 1: race and lead for probably the first half of it,
- 20:12Speaker 1: and Mark was like, well, you're going to burn your
- 20:14Speaker 1: tires up, so that's fine. I'll just sit here and
- 20:16Speaker 1: wait for you to kill your tires and then I'll
- 20:17Speaker 1: come past. Then we had the afore mentioned Vignalez cameo,
- 20:21Speaker 1: which kind of came from nowhere, but again Mark was like,
- 20:24Speaker 1: I'm saving my tire.
- 20:25Speaker 4: I'm saving my tire.
- 20:26Speaker 1: I'm waiting for my chance, six laps to go, take
- 20:28Speaker 1: the lead, sets the fastest lap, sets another fastest lap.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Vignale has got nothing. Peco Banno has chewed his tires
- 20:34Speaker 1: up because he's come back from the fourth row with
- 20:35Speaker 1: the grie because he crashed in qualifying his charge. Pete
- 20:38Speaker 1: it out and then Mark just canters to another victory.
- 20:40Speaker 1: So he's riding the best bike on the grid, and
- 20:43Speaker 1: he's riding it faster than everybody else. He's also riding
- 20:45Speaker 1: it smarter than everybody else. And I think this is
- 20:47Speaker 1: the evolution of a rider that is now he's got
- 20:50Speaker 1: the belief back that he lost I think from being
- 20:52Speaker 1: injured for so long. He's managed to work his way
- 20:55Speaker 1: in very Machiavelli of Marquez style and the best team
- 20:58Speaker 1: in the sport, and he's now making up for lost time.
- 21:01Speaker 1: But he's not the same Mark Marquez that won those
- 21:03Speaker 1: six titles in seven years between thirteen and nineteen. I
- 21:05Speaker 1: think he's a different, better version because he's got the
- 21:09Speaker 1: wisdom and the racecraft to go with the speed.
- 21:12Speaker 4: Just an absolutely outstanding.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Performance, alarming that there's a better version of.
- 21:15Speaker 3: It that will concerning and just very briefly we talked
- 21:18Speaker 3: about Maverick Vinales didn't end up winning the race, but
- 21:21Speaker 3: in fact was penalized after the race for this tire
- 21:24Speaker 3: pressures issue that continues almost after every race.
- 21:27Speaker 2: At this point. I understand why type.
- 21:30Speaker 3: Pressure issues are in Moto GP the aerodynamics of the
- 21:33Speaker 3: sport at the moment, but it's not a sustainable way
- 21:36Speaker 3: to regulate the sport, is it when we have drivers
- 21:39Speaker 3: that have handed these significant penalties just because they unexpectedly
- 21:42Speaker 3: were quick on race day.
- 21:43Speaker 1: I mean, and look, this is part of the reason
- 21:45Speaker 1: that when these rules change through all the aero package
- 21:47Speaker 1: is coming off these bikes. In a couple of years,
- 21:49Speaker 1: you're not going to have this as a problem anymore.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Sixteen second time penalty which pushed Vinales down from a
- 21:55Speaker 1: very very surprise and very well earned podium in second
- 21:57Speaker 1: place to fourteenth, which is where can be found on
- 22:00Speaker 1: most classifications at the end of most Grand Prix. But
- 22:03Speaker 1: it is a difficult situation because you have got teams
- 22:06Speaker 1: playing with tire pressures based on where they think they're
- 22:08Speaker 1: going to be running during the race. It's not a
- 22:11Speaker 1: great way to go racing. I understand why the rules
- 22:13Speaker 1: in there, because it needs to be in there so
- 22:14Speaker 1: safety reasons. Teams are running these tires virtually flat because
- 22:18Speaker 1: if you sit behind another rival in dirty air, your
- 22:20Speaker 1: tire pressure spikes, so you want to run them as
- 22:22Speaker 1: low as possible. There is a safety element to this
- 22:24Speaker 1: that I understand. But there's nothing like a post race
- 22:28Speaker 1: investigation and then you get the final ruling and the
- 22:30Speaker 1: complete change of the results and everything else at about
- 22:33Speaker 1: five o'clock Australian time in the morning. So it was
- 22:35Speaker 1: the double wheremy of here's the ninety minute way and
- 22:38Speaker 1: you can have it at five they and so good.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Good times all around. But funnily though, Vinales didn't seem
- 22:43Speaker 1: that disappointed, because well, I had a lot of fun.
- 22:46Speaker 1: I was really fast. It's been really bad for KCM
- 22:48Speaker 1: this year, so all good. And I think he was
- 22:50Speaker 1: going to ask for his podium bonus as long as
- 22:54Speaker 1: Chick's Internet banking in the morning and he might be happy,
- 22:57Speaker 1: so he should.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Well, I was very interested. I was very interested. I
- 23:01Speaker 2: enjoyed it.
- 23:02Speaker 1: So if we're going to go with this interested versus
- 23:04Speaker 1: expert theme here, we know you mentioned that supercars are
- 23:08Speaker 1: in New Zealand over the course of the weekend, but
- 23:09Speaker 1: there was something that happened in the lead up to
- 23:11Speaker 1: that that I found particularly interesting. Perhaps you can fill
- 23:14Speaker 1: in the blanks with this Alligations story.
- 23:17Speaker 3: Yeah, one of the great motors words from Alligation I
- 23:19Speaker 3: think you did. It's in my auto spell check in
- 23:23Speaker 3: the computer topically updated. Obviously, just felt it as frequently
- 23:26Speaker 3: as the need to in supercars is the general motors
- 23:28Speaker 3: from Alligation team. Obviously winding back a little bit earlier
- 23:31Speaker 3: in the season's Triple eight. Who has filled that role
- 23:33Speaker 3: for many years now, but it's defecting to Ford to
- 23:35Speaker 3: replace dj R as the whole alligation team there and
- 23:38Speaker 3: the search has been on for General.
- 23:40Speaker 2: Motors to replace them.
- 23:41Speaker 3: But of course, of the GM teams remaining, there aren't
- 23:44Speaker 3: any powerhouses like Triple eight. And this is the problem
- 23:47Speaker 3: because we found with the advent of Gen three and
- 23:49Speaker 3: while the rules are not changing anytime soon, we do
- 23:51Speaker 3: have two to coming next year. There may be some
- 23:53Speaker 3: work involved in paratizing the cars. At that point it
- 23:57Speaker 3: is a lot of work.
- 23:57Speaker 2: You know.
- 23:58Speaker 3: DJR has struggled under the weight of being the ford
- 24:00Speaker 3: hamuligation team or a regular powerhouse team that hasn't been
- 24:02Speaker 3: able to convert results. So it's been a really interesting
- 24:05Speaker 3: search in that regard. There was some rooms or maybe
- 24:07Speaker 3: they'll post someone. They ended up doing that, but they've
- 24:09Speaker 3: chosen Team eighteen Charlie Schwerkults team based in Mount Maveley
- 24:13Speaker 3: in Melbourne. Not a massive team, but a team that
- 24:16Speaker 3: has bigger aspirations, a race winning team at least, But
- 24:19Speaker 3: the approach they're taking is a little bit different and
- 24:21Speaker 3: I think this is interesting in the long term of
- 24:25Speaker 3: the sport. I suppose, which is essentially General Motors is
- 24:27Speaker 3: taking it in house. Now there isn't team mateen is
- 24:30Speaker 3: not going to be the traditional homoligation team that does
- 24:32Speaker 3: the work and then kind of gets ticked off by
- 24:34Speaker 3: GM or in association with GM, whatever, however you want
- 24:37Speaker 3: to describe that. It seems like, particularly because General Motors
- 24:40Speaker 3: been able to take the triple A technical to a
- 24:42Speaker 3: former technical director Jeremy Moore, now in house in an
- 24:45Speaker 3: in house role still to be defined after some gardening leave,
- 24:48Speaker 3: that they're kind of just going to be designing these
- 24:50Speaker 3: race cars themselves in house. Teamteen as the Conduit obviously
- 24:53Speaker 3: is the most responsible team I guess, if you like,
- 24:57Speaker 3: in the field of the one representing General Motors. It
- 24:59Speaker 3: is still a big honor and responsibility for them, and
- 25:02Speaker 3: I want to downplay that at all, but it does
- 25:04Speaker 3: seem to be a bit of a shift Whereby and
- 25:07Speaker 3: General Motors acknowledges as well. It's going to be a
- 25:09Speaker 3: collaborative effort, a word they've used quite a bit over
- 25:11Speaker 3: the last couple of weeks in the lead up and
- 25:13Speaker 3: during the announcement between all the GM teams are going
- 25:15Speaker 3: to be clicking a lot of data together and then
- 25:18Speaker 3: into a central data bank, I guess, if you like.
- 25:21Speaker 3: And it is interesting because it is a different approach,
- 25:24Speaker 3: and you wonder, you know, in the last couple of
- 25:26Speaker 3: years debating about how GM is committed to the sport,
- 25:29Speaker 3: is it different to the way Forwards committed to the sport.
- 25:32Speaker 2: It is just a different take on it. I mean,
- 25:34Speaker 2: it's maybe the right time.
- 25:35Speaker 3: To do it, because there shouldn't be any significant changes
- 25:38Speaker 3: over the next few years short of General Motors highly
- 25:41Speaker 3: secretive transition to whatever's replacing the Camaro because the commarow
- 25:44Speaker 3: is now essentially extinct. They won't say when that's going
- 25:46Speaker 3: to because at least a couple of years away because.
- 25:48Speaker 2: We go through NASCAR first before it ends up in supercars.
- 25:50Speaker 3: So there is work on the horizon, but for now
- 25:53Speaker 3: keeping cards close to the chest. Essentially it could end
- 25:56Speaker 3: up paying off, particularly in this era where parody is
- 25:58Speaker 3: so tight and always argument in supercars.
- 26:01Speaker 2: So an interesting twist there.
- 26:03Speaker 3: And then the second element here when we're considering the
- 26:05Speaker 3: GM teams is of course this manufacturer shuffle. Now we
- 26:09Speaker 3: know Toyota's got WAU that is their homoligation team.
- 26:12Speaker 2: Love using the word next again, said it again. They
- 26:15Speaker 2: get a little bit of money every time.
- 26:16Speaker 3: I wish they're looking for their next team. And then
- 26:19Speaker 3: of course there's a general shuffle going on and the
- 26:21Speaker 3: talk is Premiere of course wanted to be the GEM
- 26:24Speaker 3: homuligation team, and there's been a rumor going around that
- 26:27Speaker 3: that might now, having not got that role, maybe they'll
- 26:30Speaker 3: be considering their options outsewhere. Of course they're really closely
- 26:32Speaker 3: associated with Triple eight. They've been buying the cars directly
- 26:35Speaker 3: from them. They're based in Queensland to be close to
- 26:36Speaker 3: Triple eight. Will they move to the Ford Camp and
- 26:40Speaker 3: Brad Jones Racing as well? They're four car entries. That
- 26:42Speaker 3: would be a really big blow to this idea of
- 26:44Speaker 3: General Motors wanting this collaborative everyone involved, all data gathered effort, could.
- 26:49Speaker 2: Defect perhaps to Toyota.
- 26:51Speaker 3: These are all rumors and everyone's sort of keeping them again,
- 26:53Speaker 3: keeping their cards close to their chest, but that could
- 26:56Speaker 3: be quite a big blow because it's this whole side go.
- 27:00Speaker 3: As highlighted anything for GM, it's that there was a
- 27:02Speaker 3: lot of reliance on Triple eight. Yes, there's now a
- 27:05Speaker 3: real shoring up of the position for them. They've got
- 27:07Speaker 3: a lot of really great independent teams there. I say
- 27:09Speaker 3: there's not to downtalk any of their efforts. We've seen
- 27:11Speaker 3: them win races again, podiums, all that kind of thing.
- 27:13Speaker 3: But there's an important restructure happening there and it's not
- 27:16Speaker 3: complete just because the homologation team's been decided. Like I say,
- 27:19Speaker 3: teams could yet be shifting and that's that's still to
- 27:24Speaker 3: be seen. I thought that was a big talking point
- 27:25Speaker 3: in New Zealand. Of course, a big talking point as
- 27:27Speaker 3: well is that Matt Payne won the Jim Rich Trophy
- 27:29Speaker 3: over there by winning the round.
- 27:30Speaker 2: Two race wins.
- 27:31Speaker 3: It's rare you get a home win in supercar unless
- 27:34Speaker 3: you're talking about state by state. So I thought that
- 27:35Speaker 3: was really good. The New Zealand fans are so enthusiastic.
- 27:38Speaker 3: We see that. It's a bit of a New Zealand moment.
- 27:40Speaker 2: I think you're like even an international motors sport.
- 27:42Speaker 1: Yeah absolutely, I mean, look, there's nothing like a home winner,
- 27:44Speaker 1: right Yeah. And to win it in the style that
- 27:46Speaker 1: he did, yeah, I think it was h I don't
- 27:48Speaker 1: think too many people left that circuit.
- 27:50Speaker 2: Unhappened nothing on Sunday, And it's great because obviously in
- 27:53Speaker 2: the post shanevan gizebegan era.
- 27:54Speaker 3: Where you know they go over there and you're like, wow,
- 27:56Speaker 3: you'll probably winn't yes now. At least it's good to
- 27:59Speaker 3: see this in such a big and talented generation of
- 28:01Speaker 3: TV's as well racing in the supercars, and the rumori is,
- 28:04Speaker 3: of course we'll have a second race over there, maybe
- 28:06Speaker 3: as soon as.
- 28:06Speaker 2: Next year, so Nolan will be too disappointed by that, Matt.
- 28:10Speaker 3: Before we wrap this one up, though, it's time for
- 28:12Speaker 3: the crystal Ball, one of the great segments, of course,
- 28:14Speaker 3: brought to you by Complete Home Filtration. You can pick
- 28:20Speaker 3: whatever discipline you like, whatever time frame you like, to
- 28:24Speaker 3: predict what's going to happen before our next episode or
- 28:26Speaker 3: during the next episode.
- 28:27Speaker 1: If your bowl, my crystal ball is in for a service,
- 28:30Speaker 1: because it's been absolutely rubbish in the last couple of weeks.
- 28:33Speaker 1: So for those I'm going to fess up to the
- 28:35Speaker 1: fact that I had Kinne Antonelli on the podium. My
- 28:37Speaker 1: rain didn't score a point, so it's almost like the
- 28:40Speaker 1: kiss of death rather crystal ball. But let's hope that
- 28:43Speaker 1: I actually have my crystal ball, right, I'm saying that.
- 28:46Speaker 4: Well.
- 28:46Speaker 1: Oscar Piastre won two Grand Prix last year, He's won
- 28:49Speaker 1: two Grand Prix this year. I think he's going to
- 28:50Speaker 1: win in Jeddah, and I think he's going to take
- 28:53Speaker 1: the lead of the World Championship for the first time,
- 28:56Speaker 1: in the first time for an Australian, as you said,
- 28:57Speaker 1: in fifteen years. So that's it my crystal for this
- 29:00Speaker 1: coming week's motorsport.
- 29:01Speaker 4: But what's in yours?
- 29:03Speaker 2: Where do you get a crystal ball service?
- 29:06Speaker 4: Excellent question. We need a sponsor for.
- 29:07Speaker 3: That Crystal WALLT servicing. I know you're out there, Yes,
- 29:12Speaker 3: please come. We're happy to have supplementary sponsor for this segment.
- 29:16Speaker 3: I like that because I was thinking of a similar
- 29:17Speaker 3: line because Oscar does very well in JEDN and that
- 29:19Speaker 3: as part of my thinking.
- 29:20Speaker 2: Yeah, track is done that even in his debut year,
- 29:22Speaker 2: even Formula.
- 29:23Speaker 3: Two, he's always done very well at this insane circuit.
- 29:27Speaker 2: So I like that one a lot.
- 29:30Speaker 3: I have been on the Jack do and bandwagon for
- 29:33Speaker 3: a little while now. I predicted, if we're going back
- 29:35Speaker 3: to visit our prediction that he's going to score his
- 29:36Speaker 3: first points this weekend.
- 29:38Speaker 4: You were closer than me.
- 29:39Speaker 2: I felt like I was close before the safety card.
- 29:41Speaker 2: I was. I actually came to my head. I was like, oh,
- 29:43Speaker 2: it's two thirty.
- 29:44Speaker 4: You were ready for your victory lab.
- 29:46Speaker 3: I was very ready, but I'm going to double down.
- 29:47Speaker 3: I'm going to say these are going to be his points.
- 29:50Speaker 3: He knows this track from Formula two. Of course he's
- 29:51Speaker 3: competed here before if memory serves, but memory may not serve.
- 29:55Speaker 3: He's may have been his first Formula two race when
- 29:58Speaker 3: he got that jump up from F three correct.
- 30:00Speaker 2: And I believe he qualified second. Yeah, he was on
- 30:02Speaker 2: the front row behind Oscopiastri very good.
- 30:04Speaker 4: All Australian front right.
- 30:05Speaker 2: Great front, one of the great front roads.
- 30:08Speaker 3: This could be finally his points chance because this is
- 30:10Speaker 3: a big race for him. This is where the rumor
- 30:11Speaker 3: was going to be there was gonna be his last trace.
- 30:13Speaker 3: I don't think it's gonna be his last trace, but
- 30:15Speaker 3: nonetheless will be a great opportunity to just say, well
- 30:17Speaker 3: the doubters can be quiet for a little bit because
- 30:20Speaker 3: he's going to find to get his points. The speed's
- 30:21Speaker 3: been there, the points have just been missing to be
- 30:24Speaker 3: fair up in and he just scored its first points
- 30:25Speaker 3: this weekend. I think that's what we're going to see.
- 30:28Speaker 3: Very straight seat of Australian predictions. But I'm happy to hear.
- 30:31Speaker 4: It fly the flag.
- 30:33Speaker 3: Yes, And with that note, that's all the time we
