- 0:09Speaker 1: be seen next week at its regularly scheduled time over
- 0:12Speaker 1: most of these ABC television stations.
- 0:14Speaker 2: After a well-balanced meal, there's nothing better than some good company.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Well-balanced like bacon.
- 0:21Speaker 4: Extra bacon.
- 0:22Speaker 3: And ham cubes.
- 0:23Speaker 5: This is just cheese and pork night.
- 0:26Speaker 4: Yeah. God bless them, man.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Hi, this is Louis Gossett Jr.
- 0:32Speaker 4: This is Movie Meltdown.
- 0:49Speaker 1: The following feature has been rated R by the Motion
- 0:52Speaker 1: Picture Association of America. It is intended for mature audiences
- 0:55Speaker 1: and parental discretion is advised.
- 1:07Speaker 6: It's showtime, folks. Enjoy the show.
- 1:13Speaker 7: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:43Speaker 7: Provide more cooling in the containment chamber.
- 1:45Speaker 5: To your citizens, we have a rebound.
- 1:48Speaker 7: It's a major award.
- 1:49Speaker 6: I want it.
- 1:50Speaker 8: Live from Santa Monica, California, the annual Academy Awards.
- 2:20Speaker 9: Now it's my privilege to introduce our master of ceremonies,
- 2:24Speaker 9: a man who needs no certification for the position. No
- 2:27Speaker 9: man has done more to represent Hollywood at its finest,
- 2:31Speaker 9: to America and the world, than this splendid gentleman.
- 2:35Speaker 4: What's up and welcome to Oscar Meltdown. I'm Brian.
- 2:38Speaker 5: I'm Nick.
- 2:39Speaker 3: I'm Jacqueline.
- 2:40Speaker 4: And we're going to do live recording from, what do
- 2:43Speaker 4: you want to call this place?
- 2:46Speaker 3: Castle Awesome.
- 2:47Speaker 6: Yes.
- 2:49Speaker 4: Yes.
- 2:50Speaker 5: All right.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Or Fort Badass.
- 2:54Speaker 3: Whichever one you like better.
- 2:56Speaker 5: The hole.
- 2:58Speaker 4: The hole pavilion? Yes. Live from the hole pavilion. It's the... Wait,
- 3:06Speaker 4: I have to... Eighth annual? God, help us. Eighth annual
- 3:10Speaker 4: Meltdown Awards. Isn't that disturbing a little bit?
- 3:14Speaker 3: The eighth annual?
- 3:15Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah.
- 3:16Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 3:17Speaker 4: I'm not making that number up. It's for reals. Yeah.
- 3:21Speaker 2: How much pork have you eaten in the past eight years?
- 3:24Speaker 4: I'm going to die soon. I'm going to die.
- 3:27Speaker 3: We have a medic on standby.
- 3:30Speaker 4: Thank God. Yes, Oscar Meltdown. It's that magical night where
- 3:34Speaker 4: we here at Movie Meltdown get together on Oscar night
- 3:37Speaker 4: and then completely disregard the Oscars and hand out our
- 3:40Speaker 4: own coveted awards, the Foilers. You guys are not familiar.
- 3:47Speaker 4: You haven't witnessed the beauty and majesty that is A foiler.
- 3:52Speaker 5: I'm very excited to hear about it.
- 3:53Speaker 4: Maybe one day you yourself will win a foiler. Let's
- 3:56Speaker 4: reveal it right now.
- 3:58Speaker 2: Oh my God.
- 4:00Speaker 4: Not only is it a major award, but being foil,
- 4:04Speaker 4: you can take home leftovers. So it's multifunctional. We spare
- 4:09Speaker 4: no expense here at the Meltdown Awards.
- 4:11Speaker 5: Very nice.
- 4:12Speaker 6: So.
- 4:13Speaker 3: It looks like it's taken hours.
- 4:16Speaker 4: Hours of crafting.
- 4:18Speaker 2: It has huge boobs.
- 4:19Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 4:20Speaker 4: Might be arms, or maybe we're just trying to balance
- 4:23Speaker 4: it out.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Be more inclusive this year.
- 4:25Speaker 4: Here at Movie Meltdown, we also like boobs. What do
- 4:28Speaker 4: you want? I mean, you're not going to lie.
- 4:32Speaker 5: Also, you've alluded to the pork.
- 4:35Speaker 4: I will throw out this warning beforehand as well. as
- 4:39Speaker 4: I now regularly do, because one year somebody specifically, they
- 4:43Speaker 4: were in the middle of like emailing me online or
- 4:45Speaker 4: Facebook or something. And they were like, yeah, I listened
- 4:48Speaker 4: to one and they picked one of the Oscar episodes
- 4:51Speaker 4: as one of their first introduction. I was like, Oh,
- 4:54Speaker 4: Oh no, no, that's, that's a bad idea. This is insanity.
- 4:58Speaker 4: Like you can't make sense of this coming into it.
- 5:00Speaker 4: Like it's only for deep end.
- 5:02Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 5:02Speaker 4: It's for seasoned veterans of movie meltdown who understand the
- 5:05Speaker 4: nonsense that goes on. So once again, I'll throw it
- 5:08Speaker 4: out there at the beginning. This is not a good
- 5:10Speaker 4: starter episode. If, if you want, you can email me
- 5:14Speaker 4: Ryan at movie meltdown and we'll, I'll get you. a
- 5:17Speaker 4: specific better starter episode. This is not it. Just stop
- 5:20Speaker 4: right now.
- 5:20Speaker 5: This is not the ideal first date.
- 5:23Speaker 4: Not really, no. This is coming in like date 483.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Except Brian is dressed to the nines.
- 5:30Speaker 4: Once again, I mean, it's fair no expense here at
- 5:33Speaker 4: the Meltdown. So, yeah, that's why you get the tux.
- 5:36Speaker 4: That's why, you know, it's nothing but fancy here. Well,
- 5:40Speaker 4: I mean, while we're on that topic, what are you
- 5:42Speaker 4: wearing tonight? You're on the red carpet now.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Tonight, I am wearing a Morona burgundy three-quarter length top
- 5:55Speaker 2: with a mod cloth banana yellow skirt, some bargain bin tights,
- 6:05Speaker 2: and some Forever 21 Oxfords.
- 6:08Speaker 4: Oh, all beer away.
- 6:10Speaker 10: Yes.
- 6:10Speaker 7: Oh, yes. Yes.
- 6:12Speaker 4: Sponsored by Vera. Get a hold of us. We'll throw
- 6:14Speaker 4: you in here as official plugs if you'd like. Nick,
- 6:18Speaker 4: would you like to jump in on this?
- 6:19Speaker 5: Yes. Tonight I am wearing a pair of black... It's
- 6:26Speaker 5: not jeans, but they're a pant material.
- 6:29Speaker 4: Are there stanza belts?
- 6:30Speaker 7: Yes.
- 6:30Speaker 5: Somewhere on them there's a bleach stain.
- 6:32Speaker 4: This is a fancy event.
- 6:35Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 6:36Speaker 3: With white dog fur flair.
- 6:37Speaker 4: Yes. I have nothing but that on mine, so it's cool.
- 6:40Speaker 7: Yes.
- 6:40Speaker 5: White dog hair accents. And I'm also wearing a horizontally
- 6:46Speaker 5: striped green and darkish blue. Oh, it's very third grade.
- 6:51Speaker 5: It's very in character for what I'm going to be
- 6:55Speaker 5: doing tonight. So, oh, and there's the dog whining. Probably
- 7:01Speaker 5: didn't pick him up. Brian's wearing his characteristic I'm about
- 7:06Speaker 5: to rob a bank, like, hat.
- 7:09Speaker 4: Damn straight. That's... It comes with that guy who's on
- 7:13Speaker 4: Movie Meltdown. He's always wearing it.
- 7:14Speaker 5: It's like it should come with a Tommy gun. You
- 7:17Speaker 5: can tuck between your... May or.
- 7:19Speaker 4: May not have one on me. I did pull this
- 7:23Speaker 4: award out of you don't know where. You got a.
- 7:26Speaker 3: Cello case in the other room.
- 7:28Speaker 5: That's true.
- 7:30Speaker 4: We could have a really big gun. So yeah, as mentioned,
- 7:35Speaker 4: this is not a good starter episode. But if you
- 7:37Speaker 4: are a seasoned veteran, you also understand that there is
- 7:40Speaker 4: a weird pork angle that goes along with this. That
- 7:43Speaker 4: I guess for people who aren't all that familiar with it,
- 7:47Speaker 4: it is tied specifically to some idiot years and years ago,
- 7:51Speaker 4: it might be me, decided that we're going to have
- 7:55Speaker 4: not just an Oscar party, but tied to a certain
- 7:59Speaker 4: pork company that also bears the Oscar name that I
- 8:03Speaker 4: This year I won't plug because we have somebody else
- 8:06Speaker 4: that's thrown in. Although that company has not completely bought
- 8:09Speaker 4: the rights to it or anything. So there's some other
- 8:12Speaker 4: brand products in the other room there.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Basically what I'm saying is you wouldn't understand.
- 8:17Speaker 4: Well, no. What I'm saying is Biddymore is what I
- 8:19Speaker 4: want to get going here. Whichever one of them wants
- 8:21Speaker 4: to throw down exclusive rights to host Oscar Meltdown.
- 8:26Speaker 5: But does the other non-pork... company do they have a
- 8:31Speaker 5: vehicle that looks like their product that drives around.
- 8:35Speaker 4: They are pork and the vehicle's not but yes it
- 8:39Speaker 4: is it is that specific one we might play the
- 8:42Speaker 4: jingle here in a minute but uh yeah i i
- 8:45Speaker 4: we also the reason i'm throwing it out there we
- 8:48Speaker 4: have someone else that has thrown food at us this
- 8:50Speaker 4: time large amounts that wouldn't you say 40 or 50
- 8:54Speaker 4: pounds worth of meat in the other.
- 8:55Speaker 2: Room absolutely it's a total shit show Yes.
- 9:00Speaker 4: I don't know if they like that endorsement. That's probably
- 9:04Speaker 4: not exactly what they were going for.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Well, I mean, they butcher things, so I feel like, okay,
- 9:07Speaker 2: it's a bloodbath in there.
- 9:09Speaker 4: There we go. Now that's what we're looking for.
- 9:12Speaker 5: There were many pigs that were hung upside down and
- 9:15Speaker 5: their throats were cut. And they go, ah! There was
- 9:18Speaker 5: a bunch of that.
- 9:19Speaker 4: Not that we endorse such behavior as we eat bacon.
- 9:22Speaker 4: But as I've said in previous years, we also have
- 9:25Speaker 4: several people on the show that are vegan. They're just
- 9:28Speaker 4: not here tonight. Specifically not that reason. One of them
- 9:31Speaker 4: just can't drive because they'll get liquored up and they
- 9:34Speaker 4: can't drive home. So it's, yeah, it's for other reasons,
- 9:37Speaker 4: not our horrible butchering stories. But on that note, tonight's meats,
- 9:42Speaker 4: some of which, are brought to you by Stone Cross Farm.
- 9:46Speaker 4: Real farm, real family, real food. Find out more at stonecrossfarm.com.
- 9:51Speaker 4: So thank you to Alicia and everyone at Stone Cross
- 9:53Speaker 4: Farms for loading us up with meats and contributing to
- 9:58Speaker 4: the insanity here tonight.
- 9:59Speaker 7: Thanks, Alicia.
- 10:00Speaker 5: It's delicious. Thank you.
- 10:01Speaker 3: You're beautiful.
- 10:02Speaker 2: We should also, I was thinking about, since Stone Cross
- 10:07Speaker 2: Farms does not have a weenie vehicle, a weenie mobile,
- 10:12Speaker 2: that we should just go paint Alicia's truck to have
- 10:16Speaker 2: bacon racing stripes.
- 10:18Speaker 6: What?
- 10:19Speaker 4: Doesn't sound like such a bad idea.
- 10:20Speaker 3: Doesn't it?
- 10:21Speaker 4: I don't know how she'll feel about it. That's why
- 10:24Speaker 4: we won't ask her.
- 10:25Speaker 5: Replace the motor oil with actual bacon fat grease and grease. Nice.
- 10:30Speaker 4: I'm liking this too. It'll always have that lovely smell
- 10:33Speaker 4: as you drive around.
- 10:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:35Speaker 5: Beautiful.
- 10:37Speaker 4: So yes, years ago, some idiot decided to have that
- 10:41Speaker 4: sort of Oscar party. And thus it was born with
- 10:45Speaker 4: that first fried bologna sandwich. Keeping it classy, as always. Yeah,
- 10:50Speaker 4: I've taken us down this path. So now every year,
- 10:54Speaker 4: out of sheer hard-headedness and stupidity, I continue to do this.
- 10:59Speaker 4: And we have what? What's our rundown? We've got piggy sausages, bacon, ham.
- 11:06Speaker 3: Summer sausage.
- 11:08Speaker 5: Sausage, bologna, hot dogs. Wink sausage, pigs in a blanket.
- 11:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:14Speaker 5: Cheeses.
- 11:15Speaker 4: Cheeses of many varieties.
- 11:17Speaker 5: Queso, a cheddar pretzel.
- 11:20Speaker 3: And a cheese ball.
- 11:22Speaker 4: It's healthy living is what we're saying. It's nothing but
- 11:24Speaker 4: healthy living.
- 11:27Speaker 6: Bacon.
- 11:27Speaker 3: It's good bacon.
- 11:29Speaker 4: As we head into the break, let's have some bacon.
- 11:32Speaker 3: Some Stone Cross Farms bacon.
- 11:35Speaker 4: Plug, plug, double plug.
- 11:39Speaker 8: Delicious.
- 11:41Speaker 3: Scrumptious.
- 11:45Speaker 9: I think it is safe to say that we live
- 11:47Speaker 9: in troubled times. If the motion picture can lay claim
- 11:50Speaker 9: to anything, it is this. It provides us a short
- 11:54Speaker 9: vacation from our troubles. For a few moments, woe and
- 11:57Speaker 9: worry are replaced with some mirth, some music, and an
- 12:01Speaker 9: occasional glimpse of beauty, or a moment of insight that
- 12:05Speaker 9: uplifts our spirits. This shows an annual salute to the
- 12:09Speaker 9: men and women of every country who make these motion pictures.
- 12:13Speaker 9: Now to the business at hand.
- 12:14Speaker 4: It's time for the Meltdown Awards. The crowd goes wild.
- 12:19Speaker 4: Listen to them. Here at the whole pavilion, thousands of
- 12:24Speaker 4: people waited for hours to get in here to find
- 12:27Speaker 4: out these very important categories. And which winner will take
- 12:32Speaker 4: home the coveted foiler?
- 12:38Speaker 1: All right.
- 12:39Speaker 4: Category number one. Most questionable career decision made by an actor, actress,
- 12:44Speaker 4: or filmmaker in 2015. Are you ready? Yes. Can you
- 12:49Speaker 4: contain yourself? The nominees are, and again, these come from
- 12:54Speaker 4: our listeners, and thank you because they give us some
- 12:57Speaker 4: of the best options ever as far as I'm concerned.
- 13:01Speaker 4: So we normally will have the rundown of five options
- 13:05Speaker 4: that came up, and then we'll just head right into
- 13:07Speaker 4: the winner, which is not necessarily one of those options.
- 13:11Speaker 4: I just like throwing an extra one of these in here. So,
- 13:15Speaker 4: our options are Making the Walk. Despite the fact that
- 13:19Speaker 4: an award-winning documentary already exists about it. I believe this
- 13:23Speaker 4: person also accompanied this with, I hate this movie. The
- 13:29Speaker 4: next one is Netflix for signing a deal with Adam Sandler.
- 13:34Speaker 3: I didn't even know that one happened.
- 13:36Speaker 4: Oh, that's how you get the... Stupid Six or whatever
- 13:39Speaker 4: that horrible straight to- Oh, my goodness.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Didn't he do some kind of dramatic role, like the
- 13:44Speaker 2: Cobbler or something?
- 13:44Speaker 4: The Cobbler, which may or may not have gotten a
- 13:47Speaker 4: nomination tonight.
- 13:49Speaker 7: Oh.
- 13:49Speaker 5: The Cobbler.
- 13:50Speaker 3: Well, I don't want to spoil anything now.
- 13:53Speaker 7: All right.
- 13:54Speaker 4: Next up is Mila Kunis for Jupiter Ascending. I believe
- 14:01Speaker 4: their comment was, I didn't hate the movie, and I
- 14:04Speaker 4: like her as an actress.
- 14:05Speaker 6: Yes.
- 14:06Speaker 4: I'm afraid, though, it's going to be harder for her
- 14:08Speaker 4: to get interesting roles, being the lead of a pretty
- 14:10Speaker 4: substantial flop.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:13Speaker 4: Can't argue with that. Next up, Rooney Mara as Tiger
- 14:18Speaker 4: Lily in Pan.
- 14:20Speaker 7: What?
- 14:22Speaker 4: How that one got the weird casting for all that stuff,
- 14:24Speaker 4: I'm not really sure.
- 14:25Speaker 7: Oh, yeah.
- 14:28Speaker 4: And finally, Sam Rockwell in Poltergeist. I feel like it
- 14:32Speaker 4: needs to end with a question mark.
- 14:35Speaker 2: That is very questionable like it needs to end with
- 14:40Speaker 2: that wait what like yeah but none of these.
- 14:48Speaker 4: The winner of the foiler is mordecai as a whole
- 14:53Speaker 4: as a thing i believe and this is one of
- 14:56Speaker 4: the better comments we got What the hell was that
- 14:59Speaker 4: Mordecai movie? Did anyone go see that? Are there people
- 15:02Speaker 4: that love Johnny Depp so much they would pay to
- 15:04Speaker 4: see that? Is Johnny Depp trying to ruin all goodwill
- 15:08Speaker 4: people have towards him? What the hell is he doing
- 15:10Speaker 4: in Tusk? How do these things keep happening? Thank you
- 15:15Speaker 4: for those comments because that's why I like the Meltdown
- 15:19Speaker 4: Awards because they're not the bullshit that goes on at
- 15:21Speaker 4: the Oscars. They're very honest.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:24Speaker 4: And real.
- 15:25Speaker 2: And I've made some questionable decisions in the last year.
- 15:27Speaker 2: And I have to say that Johnny Depp is a
- 15:30Speaker 2: questionable decision.
- 15:31Speaker 3: He just is.
- 15:33Speaker 4: At this point, yeah, I would not have said that. Pre-Pirates,
- 15:37Speaker 4: I would say that guy's a solid actor. Yeah. Came up,
- 15:41Speaker 4: poor bastard born in Kentucky. That's scary enough. And then
- 15:45Speaker 4: went on to build a career and do great movies.
- 15:48Speaker 4: And then he was a Pirate. He was actually pretty
- 15:51Speaker 4: good that first time, and then little did we know
- 15:54Speaker 4: it would take over his career.
- 15:56Speaker 5: He needs to play a gas station attendant in a
- 16:01Speaker 5: very minor role.
- 16:02Speaker 3: He needs to rebuild.
- 16:04Speaker 5: Yes. It's time for a reboot.
- 16:06Speaker 2: Back to Nick of Time.
- 16:09Speaker 4: Johnny, don't think Skeet Ulrich isn't out there. We can
- 16:12Speaker 4: totally reboot you from the get-go.
- 16:14Speaker 5: Yeah, it's like I'm looking at his role in Nightmare
- 16:17Speaker 5: on Elm Street with pleasure. I'm like, yes.
- 16:19Speaker 7: Yes.
- 16:20Speaker 5: Suck him into that hole.
- 16:21Speaker 4: Dude, Skeet has nothing to do right now. He will
- 16:24Speaker 4: gladly take over your life, so don't push your luck, buddy.
- 16:27Speaker 2: Yeah, we should download his subconscious and just delete him
- 16:31Speaker 2: and just reboot him into another body.
- 16:33Speaker 4: Control-Alt-Depth.
- 16:36Speaker 5: And then assassinate Tim Burton.
- 16:38Speaker 4: Whoa. Allegedly, that might have been planned by someone.
- 16:44Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 16:44Speaker 5: It's the Oscars. It's about over-the-topness.
- 16:49Speaker 4: All right, next up, the most shocking moment in a
- 16:52Speaker 4: 2015 film, which I've also nicknamed the oh my category.
- 16:57Speaker 4: You got to get the George Takei.
- 16:59Speaker 8: Oh my.
- 17:00Speaker 3: I can't do it.
- 17:02Speaker 4: Got to get the George Takei going. Oh my. So
- 17:06Speaker 4: first up, again, I love our listeners. The part in
- 17:12Speaker 4: Chappie when I secretly kind of liked it. Oh my.
- 17:17Speaker 4: Didn't see that coming, did you?
- 17:19Speaker 3: God, I got 10 minutes into that movie. I had
- 17:21Speaker 3: to shut it the hell off.
- 17:22Speaker 5: That was a red box abortion.
- 17:24Speaker 4: I actually, I wrote him back and went, thank you.
- 17:27Speaker 4: It wasn't, I, by the end of Chappy, I was
- 17:31Speaker 4: so impressed with our director. I was like, not only
- 17:35Speaker 4: did you get people to give you millions of dollars
- 17:38Speaker 4: to make this insanity, but you followed through. And that
- 17:41Speaker 4: final maneuver that he does, I'm like, I'm pretty sure
- 17:45Speaker 4: I said to the TV as I'm watching, no, no,
- 17:48Speaker 4: you didn't, no. And when you're talking to the television,
- 17:52Speaker 4: you know it's a good project you're watching. I mean,
- 17:55Speaker 4: if it incites you to yell obscenities or just question
- 17:59Speaker 4: the very fabric of life in general, I don't know.
- 18:03Speaker 4: I think that's, you've done something right. Maybe not your movie.
- 18:06Speaker 4: But you've done something that has at least gotten people's attention.
- 18:09Speaker 2: You've gotten a reaction out of people.
- 18:11Speaker 4: I certainly had that. And by the end, I was
- 18:13Speaker 4: so impressed that this thing existed. Is it good?
- 18:18Speaker 7: No.
- 18:19Speaker 4: It's just insane. Complete ridiculous bullshit. But at the same time,
- 18:25Speaker 4: he well financed this complete ridiculous bullshit. And it looks
- 18:30Speaker 4: really good. And the effects are pretty damn impressive. And
- 18:33Speaker 4: I'm like, everything else about it It's so well done
- 18:36Speaker 4: that I'm like, I gotta give this dad credit. He
- 18:39Speaker 4: followed through with this ridiculous idea and made his dumb movie.
- 18:44Speaker 4: So I'm right there with you.
- 18:46Speaker 3: Worst acting.
- 18:47Speaker 5: South Africa sucks.
- 18:50Speaker 4: I'm right there with you, anonymous member. I've tried to
- 18:55Speaker 4: keep them. I usually don't out the people by name
- 18:57Speaker 4: because that way they can be as honest as they want.
- 19:00Speaker 4: So we'll keep it that way. Speaking of awkward honestness, um,
- 19:05Speaker 4: Have you seen The Hateful Eight?
- 19:06Speaker 8: Yes.
- 19:08Speaker 4: Then you'll probably know, because I went in the theater
- 19:09Speaker 4: and went, yeah, that's Quentin. The flashback scene that I
- 19:14Speaker 4: won't go to, in case you haven't seen it, it
- 19:16Speaker 4: involves oral sex and murder. We'll leave it at that.
- 19:19Speaker 4: It's fun for the whole family.
- 19:21Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 19:23Speaker 4: Another one, one of my favorite people wrote this one.
- 19:28Speaker 4: Me crying at the end of Terminator Genisys when the
- 19:31Speaker 4: Terminator dies. And he followed that sentence with, it was
- 19:35Speaker 4: shock mixed with crippling shame. You're going to stop asking
- 19:38Speaker 4: me to fill these out after reading this. No. No
- 19:41Speaker 4: anonymous person. That's not true.
- 19:43Speaker 3: You're one of my favorite people in the world.
- 19:46Speaker 4: So, yes. Crying at the end of Terminator.
- 19:48Speaker 2: That's a great, great submission right there.
- 19:51Speaker 3: That's true honesty.
- 19:53Speaker 6: Yes.
- 19:55Speaker 4: I will, as we go through, there are some of
- 19:57Speaker 4: these it's hard to not even throw out the nomination
- 19:59Speaker 4: without spoilers. So have you seen Bone Tomahawk?
- 20:04Speaker 7: No.
- 20:04Speaker 5: I have not.
- 20:04Speaker 4: You really should. I don't think this will really ruin anything,
- 20:08Speaker 4: but a general.
- 20:10Speaker 2: My memory's horrible.
- 20:11Speaker 3: I'll forget it.
- 20:11Speaker 4: For those of you at home, her brain doesn't work.
- 20:13Speaker 4: But for those of you listening, general horrified spoiler for
- 20:18Speaker 4: Bone Tomahawk. And I'll just leave it the way they
- 20:22Speaker 4: wrote it down. The fillet scene in Bone Tomahawk.
- 20:26Speaker 3: Oh, that sounds horrifying.
- 20:27Speaker 4: Oh, and it is, and yet impressive. I was just like, whoa,
- 20:31Speaker 4: all right.
- 20:32Speaker 3: Is it like.
- 20:33Speaker 4: Oh my!
- 20:34Speaker 2: Is it like the bear scene in The Revenant, but
- 20:37Speaker 2: a knife going through people's skin?
- 20:40Speaker 4: No, and maybe? And more so? Like, up that by like.
- 20:46Speaker 2: Just like a horrifying graphic.
- 20:47Speaker 4: Crank it to 11.
- 20:48Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 20:49Speaker 4: And yes.
- 20:50Speaker 3: Okay, gotcha.
- 20:51Speaker 4: Followed by, let's go to the next category, the bear
- 20:54Speaker 4: attack in The Revenant.
- 20:55Speaker 8: Right.
- 20:56Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 20:57Speaker 6: But.
- 20:57Speaker 2: But it wasn't a shocker, because it was in the
- 20:59Speaker 2: goddamn previews.
- 21:00Speaker 4: They're not real subtle with trailers.
- 21:02Speaker 5: But there was that urban legend that it was not
- 21:04Speaker 5: a bear attack as it was more a bear sexual assault.
- 21:10Speaker 4: Yeah. I think just movie geeks thought that was funny
- 21:13Speaker 4: and kept saying it.
- 21:14Speaker 5: Yeah, like Ted Cruz is the Zodiac Killer.
- 21:16Speaker 4: I also like, oh man, none of them are as
- 21:18Speaker 4: good as JonBenet Ramsey is Katy Perry. And then like
- 21:24Speaker 4: look at the pictures and you're like, oh shit.
- 21:26Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 21:27Speaker 4: I've heard a lot of ridiculous conspiracy theories, but. This
- 21:31Speaker 4: one doesn't even make sense.
- 21:32Speaker 3: I mean, look into Katy Perry's eyes, though.
- 21:34Speaker 4: Yeah, doesn't it seem like she lived through a horrible,
- 21:36Speaker 4: horrible trauma, and that's why she does this bullshit now?
- 21:39Speaker 5: Well, she was married to Russell Brand.
- 21:40Speaker 4: Oh, that's true. So double horrible trauma for her.
- 21:44Speaker 5: Just hear him saying, I think that, ugh, I don't
- 21:48Speaker 5: want to cut his head off.
- 21:49Speaker 4: Feel free to fillet him, actually.
- 21:50Speaker 5: I don't want to cut his head off and then
- 21:52Speaker 5: hold his long hair, like hold his head up with
- 21:54Speaker 5: his long hair.
- 21:55Speaker 2: You can really get a glimpse into Nick's mind, because
- 21:59Speaker 2: in this episode so far, he's talked about assassinating Quentin Tarantino.
- 22:04Speaker 7: Yes.
- 22:04Speaker 4: Tim Burton.
- 22:05Speaker 5: I sound like an ISIS sleeper agent. Like, is this
- 22:09Speaker 5: peeking through the top?
- 22:10Speaker 4: Allegedly.
- 22:12Speaker 5: Oh, yeah, yeah. I'm not.
- 22:14Speaker 4: Red flag, red flag.
- 22:15Speaker 5: They are despicable. I need a podium now.
- 22:18Speaker 4: All right, and the foiler goes to And I will
- 22:25Speaker 4: leave it once again as the way they wrote it.
- 22:27Speaker 4: I don't know who the hell hasn't seen this movie
- 22:29Speaker 4: by this point, but the fate of Han Solo in
- 22:33Speaker 4: Star Wars, The Force Awakens. Oh, yeah.
- 22:35Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 22:35Speaker 4: Although to me, once I got into the movie, as
- 22:38Speaker 4: I said in our 14-hour marathon episodes, I kind of
- 22:41Speaker 4: saw that. I mean, once the bridge comes into play,
- 22:44Speaker 4: I'm like, oh, no, there's no return from this.
- 22:46Speaker 7: No, no.
- 22:47Speaker 4: Not much of a shocker. But I guess in general,
- 22:50Speaker 4: going in, people might be like, well, they would never, oh, God. Yeah,
- 22:56Speaker 4: I guess so. All right, next up. Most miscast actor
- 23:01Speaker 4: or actress for their role in a 2015 film. Emma
- 23:06Speaker 4: Stone in Aloha, because she's of Asian descent.
- 23:10Speaker 7: Oh, yeah.
- 23:12Speaker 5: It's like, she looks weird. We can jimmy this into anything.
- 23:16Speaker 5: She's part Asian.
- 23:18Speaker 2: She has the biggest, roundest eyes of anybody.
- 23:20Speaker 4: Don't get me wrong. I love some Emma Stone. She
- 23:22Speaker 4: is awesome. But a little off on the casting there,
- 23:26Speaker 4: which I think even the director is kind of like, yeah,
- 23:28Speaker 4: sorry about that guy.
- 23:29Speaker 2: She's popular. I, like everybody else, really like Emma Stone.
- 23:33Speaker 4: I just wanted to work with her.
- 23:34Speaker 2: It's not my fault. I hope most of these are like,
- 23:39Speaker 2: there's the Egyptian. There's all the Persians. All of them
- 23:43Speaker 2: are white still.
- 23:44Speaker 5: The Egyptian is just like a guy with a tan
- 23:46Speaker 5: who has eyeliner.
- 23:46Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 23:49Speaker 4: Jake Gyllenhaal is the Prince of Persia. Don't argue with him.
- 23:53Speaker 3: It says it right in the title. And also, Tom
- 23:56Speaker 3: Cruise is totally the last samurai.
- 23:58Speaker 2: Why wouldn't he be the last samurai?
- 24:00Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 24:01Speaker 4: This all seems legit. Oscar White. Anyway. Oscar's so white.
- 24:07Speaker 3: So white.
- 24:08Speaker 4: So white.
- 24:09Speaker 3: Oscar quite white.
- 24:10Speaker 4: Another benefit of ignoring that nonsense but paying attention to
- 24:15Speaker 4: the Meltdown Awards, we have many non-white nominees this year.
- 24:19Speaker 4: I noticed as I was tallying them up. I'm like, well,
- 24:22Speaker 4: there's a granite. There's always a lot of white people
- 24:24Speaker 4: hanging around. You can never get rid of them. But
- 24:26Speaker 4: we have, through the whole run, we have mixed it
- 24:30Speaker 4: up a little bit. So good for us.
- 24:31Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 24:32Speaker 4: And you people.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Boiler's so diverse.
- 24:34Speaker 4: Yeah, see? Good for you people for nominating him. I
- 24:37Speaker 4: didn't do it. I just tallied him up. So thank
- 24:39Speaker 4: you for being cool and open-minded. Unlike our beloved Johnny Depp.
- 24:46Speaker 4: The next option is Johnny Depp in Black Mass.
- 24:50Speaker 2: The worst.
- 24:52Speaker 4: Their comment was, I actually liked the movie and thought
- 24:54Speaker 4: performance-wise he was great. However, the makeup job was just atrocious.
- 24:58Speaker 4: If you feel the need to go to those lengths
- 25:00Speaker 4: to make your actor resemble the person he's playing and
- 25:02Speaker 4: he really didn't look that much like him, then you
- 25:05Speaker 4: should probably just cast someone else.
- 25:08Speaker 5: Right.
- 25:08Speaker 2: Yeah, it's weird when directors just have their heart set
- 25:13Speaker 2: on this one person and they won't compromise even when
- 25:16Speaker 2: it's a bad decision.
- 25:18Speaker 4: Especially when there's times when it doesn't even factor in
- 25:21Speaker 4: There was that weird one years ago that Nicole Kidman
- 25:25Speaker 4: was up for where she wore that weird nose piece
- 25:28Speaker 4: the whole time. It was pre-nose job, so it really
- 25:31Speaker 4: made no sense why she also had to have this
- 25:34Speaker 4: weird thing that didn't make her look like herself. I'm like,
- 25:36Speaker 4: why would you cast her if you don't want someone
- 25:39Speaker 4: that looks like her? Go find some unknown person that
- 25:42Speaker 4: looks like whoever you want to look like.
- 25:44Speaker 5: The shadow that the nose cast was too essential to
- 25:47Speaker 5: the story.
- 25:49Speaker 4: Into the visuals. And then she got so traumatized by
- 25:52Speaker 4: seeing that messed up nose on her face that she
- 25:54Speaker 4: went and jacked up her own face.
- 25:55Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 25:57Speaker 6: Woof.
- 25:57Speaker 7: Allegedly.
- 25:57Speaker 5: Perpetual surprise face.
- 25:59Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 26:01Speaker 9: All right.
- 26:02Speaker 4: Next up. Miles Teller as Richard Reeds in Fan Force Dick,
- 26:08Speaker 4: or whatever they're calling that atrocity. Yeah, he was discussing
- 26:14Speaker 4: how the character of Reed Richards is kind of important,
- 26:17Speaker 4: and it's important that he be something of a sympathetic
- 26:20Speaker 4: character who actually wants to do the right thing. And
- 26:23Speaker 4: maybe it's just me, but pretty much every time I've
- 26:25Speaker 4: seen a movie with Miles Teller in it, I've just
- 26:27Speaker 4: wanted to punch him in the face. That's not something
- 26:31Speaker 4: of value to be brought to the screen. In Whiplash,
- 26:34Speaker 4: he was perfect, because you're supposed to want to punch
- 26:36Speaker 4: him in the face at times.
- 26:37Speaker 5: Yeah, he had symbols thrown at him.
- 26:39Speaker 7: Here.
- 26:41Speaker 4: He's the worst of a bad situation. Miles Teller. Can't
- 26:46Speaker 4: really argue that. He always seems a little creepy to me.
- 26:48Speaker 3: Like Ted Cruz's face?
- 26:50Speaker 2: Yes.
- 26:51Speaker 5: The bottom lip just comes out.
- 26:54Speaker 4: When you're a serial killer.
- 26:56Speaker 5: Ted Cruz looks like the kid at boarding school who
- 27:01Speaker 5: was really into the weird hazing and sexual bullying. He
- 27:07Speaker 5: has just that face, but just... Add like 30 years
- 27:11Speaker 5: to it.
- 27:11Speaker 3: There's Nick again.
- 27:15Speaker 5: That has been my character. I didn't just make this up.
- 27:17Speaker 5: I've been sitting on this characterization of him for weeks.
- 27:20Speaker 4: You've been drawing this. You're working on a police sketch
- 27:23Speaker 4: of this.
- 27:23Speaker 5: I'm like doing unofficial FBI profiles on all the candidates.
- 27:29Speaker 4: I'd like to see those. And I don't even care
- 27:32Speaker 4: about candidates. I just want to see your police drawings.
- 27:34Speaker 2: You should get into casting.
- 27:36Speaker 4: There we go. Let's make this happen. All right, next
- 27:40Speaker 4: up in the questionable miscastings, Adam Driver in The Force Awakens.
- 27:46Speaker 4: And once again, I like the comments. I'll be alone here,
- 27:49Speaker 4: and it really isn't his fault, but Adam Driver is
- 27:51Speaker 4: not threatening at all. The math comes off, and oh man,
- 27:54Speaker 4: another whiny and grateful space punk who didn't appreciate how
- 27:57Speaker 4: good he had it. I'm too old to see movies now.
- 27:59Speaker 4: I'll be munching on saltines and watching Wheel of Fortune
- 28:02Speaker 4: if you need me. Thank you. I like that self-reflection. Yeah,
- 28:07Speaker 4: I like most of his comments, so... Thank you once
- 28:10Speaker 4: again for your accompaniment.
- 28:12Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 28:13Speaker 4: Because I'm kind of on the other side.
- 28:16Speaker 2: I'm kind of on the other side too.
- 28:17Speaker 1: I'm like.
- 28:17Speaker 4: I like what they did with it, but.
- 28:20Speaker 2: I feel like they chose him because he looked whiny
- 28:22Speaker 2: and sensitive and vulnerable.
- 28:24Speaker 4: I think it's just that it's a different direction than
- 28:26Speaker 4: some people were expecting.
- 28:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:29Speaker 4: So. I see that.
- 28:30Speaker 5: Was his hair length like regulation in the first order?
- 28:35Speaker 4: I guess if you run the first order, you can
- 28:36Speaker 4: kind of do whatever the hell you want.
- 28:38Speaker 5: It doesn't seem like much of a tight ship to me.
- 28:40Speaker 4: Well, I mean, they're not really.
- 28:42Speaker 7: No.
- 28:42Speaker 3: I think that ship was tight as hell.
- 28:45Speaker 4: I'm leaving that alone.
- 28:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I can edit that out, right?
- 28:49Speaker 4: Nope. And Channing Tatum in The Hateful Eight, which as
- 28:54Speaker 4: the name came up, I'm sitting in the theater going, wait,
- 28:56Speaker 4: Channing Tatum? It was like, what? Wait, what?
- 28:59Speaker 5: Did he like do voiceover for the wind? Like, He
- 29:02Speaker 5: was really guessing.
- 29:03Speaker 4: He played one of the horses that they put in
- 29:05Speaker 4: the stable.
- 29:06Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 29:07Speaker 4: He's a good actor. You didn't even notice, did you?
- 29:11Speaker 4: All right. But none of those. Because the winner is
- 29:16Speaker 4: Benedict Cumberbatch in Black Mass.
- 29:20Speaker 7: Oh.
- 29:20Speaker 3: Okay.
- 29:21Speaker 5: He got to pull out of the Boston Accident.
- 29:23Speaker 4: Nobody's buying it.
- 29:24Speaker 5: Nobody's buying it.
- 29:25Speaker 4: Nobody's buying it. We all know where you're from and
- 29:29Speaker 4: it ain't Boston.
- 29:29Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, he.
- 29:30Speaker 2: Doesn't look like, you need to be sort of stunted
- 29:34Speaker 2: to be from Southie or something. like you gotta be
- 29:37Speaker 2: like kind of underdeveloped and just.
- 29:39Speaker 4: Like yeah you gotta have that pissed look at all
- 29:41Speaker 4: times he looks pissy.
- 29:43Speaker 2: Pissy but not passive aggressive at all times not like.
- 29:47Speaker 4: Yeah he can get pissy you're.
- 29:48Speaker 3: Talking to me he doesn't have that going no he's.
- 29:51Speaker 4: Got what part are we talking to me it's a
- 29:54Speaker 4: little different it's a little different All right, next up,
- 29:58Speaker 4: the most impressive visuals. And again, I like setting this
- 30:01Speaker 4: up because there's things that I think get overlooked or
- 30:04Speaker 4: weird gray areas in traditional Oscar nonsense that we can
- 30:09Speaker 4: then throw it out. This being one of the situations of.
- 30:13Speaker 4: They just have this weird, like, which thing wins? It's
- 30:15Speaker 4: the one with the most CG, usually. Where I'm like,
- 30:18Speaker 4: I'm old school practical effects, so I kind of like
- 30:21Speaker 4: if that would get a little more... There's an art
- 30:24Speaker 4: to CG. There definitely is.
- 30:25Speaker 9: But.
- 30:26Speaker 4: I like throwing this in there as CG, practical, whatever
- 30:29Speaker 4: you think was the awesome effect of the year, so
- 30:32Speaker 4: this way we can kind of get whatever people are into.
- 30:35Speaker 4: In the real world, it's usually just CG that wins,
- 30:37Speaker 4: but whatever. Ours are Star Wars, The Force Awakens, which
- 30:43Speaker 4: I think was a decent mixture of both.
- 30:45Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, they did.
- 30:46Speaker 4: Some people argue, but I think he went out of
- 30:49Speaker 4: his way to put a lot of practical stuff in,
- 30:51Speaker 4: so I'm okay with the mixture. The Ant-Man fighting scenes.
- 30:56Speaker 4: That is probably the most impressive thing going on in
- 30:59Speaker 4: that movie. Yeah. That big finale fight scene is pretty good.
- 31:03Speaker 4: Crimson Peak, can't argue. It's freaking like those. And again,
- 31:08Speaker 4: that's like, when you know how to use CG, it
- 31:11Speaker 4: turns out like Crimson Peak. Like, Del Toro just kind
- 31:14Speaker 4: of knows what he's doing at this point. I wish
- 31:16Speaker 4: I could have seen it. Oh, you should.
- 31:20Speaker 3: Nick didn't want to see it because he was like, uh-huh.
- 31:23Speaker 4: There's ghost in that movie?
- 31:25Speaker 2: He didn't want to see it because there would be
- 31:26Speaker 2: too much Victorian romance.
- 31:28Speaker 5: And he hates that shit. I hate that. I hate
- 31:31Speaker 5: England and that whole area.
- 31:34Speaker 4: Sorry, English listeners.
- 31:36Speaker 5: Anything related to.
- 31:37Speaker 3: Jane Austen type stuff.
- 31:39Speaker 5: If he can be spun to have any kind of like.
- 31:46Speaker 5: Like it's just kill yourself i don't want to.
- 31:49Speaker 4: See it you might be okay with it because imagine
- 31:51Speaker 4: like you're in your nightmares version of that where you're
- 31:54Speaker 4: like oh my god i just wish oh look everybody's
- 31:56Speaker 4: getting killed like not really but there's a point and
- 32:00Speaker 4: one specific character who is my favorite character in the
- 32:02Speaker 4: movie that is off the rails crazy town and like
- 32:07Speaker 4: once that's going there's a lot of brutality okay and
- 32:11Speaker 4: there is there's tons of necessarily blood but it looks
- 32:15Speaker 4: like there's blood all the time and i don't know
- 32:18Speaker 4: i i think the disturbing imagery might like help you
- 32:21Speaker 4: like man i hope all these weird british people get
- 32:24Speaker 4: like offed you know it might give you a little
- 32:26Speaker 4: sense of like.
- 32:27Speaker 5: Bringing it down i mean if there could be this
- 32:29Speaker 5: kind of predatory tension where i feel like all of
- 32:33Speaker 5: them might somehow end up in this cosmic meat grinder
- 32:36Speaker 5: i'd be like all right i'll see it plus most
- 32:38Speaker 5: of the scary.
- 32:39Speaker 4: Ghosts are our beloved doug jones so Anytime you can
- 32:43Speaker 4: see him or not see him in action. Dougie. Yeah,
- 32:46Speaker 4: it's always good. Next up, Krampus. This one falls on
- 32:51Speaker 4: both sides for me personally. I think there's great visuals
- 32:55Speaker 4: in it and some great CG work. And then there's
- 32:59Speaker 4: some really obnoxious use of CG.
- 33:01Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 33:02Speaker 4: And that 20 minute period where I don't need any
- 33:05Speaker 4: of that that's going on CG wise.
- 33:06Speaker 3: Druids, cool. Gingerbread men, not cool.
- 33:09Speaker 5: Not so cool.
- 33:10Speaker 4: That's my main problem with it. Just close your damn mouth, Grampus.
- 33:15Speaker 4: Just close your damn mouth.
- 33:16Speaker 7: Anyway.
- 33:18Speaker 4: So yeah. This one specifically, the runner up got quite
- 33:23Speaker 4: a few votes and I'm kind of like I would
- 33:26Speaker 4: be leaning towards it if the winner weren't the winner.
- 33:29Speaker 4: This one should have won. The android in Ex Machina,
- 33:32Speaker 4: considering the fact that they're on a pretty limited budget, damn,
- 33:36Speaker 4: that stuff looks good. Like, everything they do with that,
- 33:39Speaker 4: and it's gotta be consistent, because most of the movie,
- 33:42Speaker 4: you're looking at that, and then, like, it's also gotta
- 33:45Speaker 4: work as you're buying it as a character, too, so
- 33:48Speaker 4: you can't be, like, overly distracted by how bad the
- 33:51Speaker 4: visuals look if you're, like, totally engrossed in their weird conversations, so.
- 33:57Speaker 4: I don't know. I thought that was all really impressive.
- 33:58Speaker 4: So I'm glad that at least is the runner-up. It
- 34:01Speaker 4: should get bonus points for that because it is really good.
- 34:04Speaker 4: It did look really good.
- 34:04Speaker 7: Yes.
- 34:05Speaker 4: But the foiler goes to, and you can't argue, Mad
- 34:09Speaker 4: Max Fury Road. I mean, it's... Unquestionable. Yeah. You can't
- 34:14Speaker 4: really mess with it.
- 34:18Speaker 3: No, like as soon as you said special effects, I
- 34:19Speaker 3: was like, Mad Max, that's it.
- 34:23Speaker 4: All right. So speaking of some of those things we
- 34:26Speaker 4: just did, how about the most obnoxious use of CGI
- 34:29Speaker 4: in a 2015 film, which I've also nicknamed the Jar
- 34:32Speaker 4: Jar Award? Oh, my God. First up, Jupiter Ascending, which
- 34:38Speaker 4: I believe came with the accompanying comment, complete CG overkill.
- 34:43Speaker 3: Yeah. They could have made the whole thing on a computer.
- 34:46Speaker 4: Again, to balance out, I like when sometimes these different
- 34:49Speaker 4: people send in different things and you get things that
- 34:52Speaker 4: totally cancel each other out. Option two here is Star
- 34:55Speaker 4: Wars The Force Awakens, which I'm like, eh. I mean,
- 34:59Speaker 4: mostly I can see people complaining about the crazy tentacle monsters.
- 35:04Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 35:05Speaker 4: I'm okay with them a little more than most people,
- 35:07Speaker 4: but I could see that. Next up, Jurassic World. Again,
- 35:14Speaker 4: it's both. I think there's good stuff going on there,
- 35:17Speaker 4: and then there's kind of silly stuff going on.
- 35:21Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 35:21Speaker 4: Some of it looks a little more cartoony, especially since
- 35:25Speaker 4: you look at how many years it's been since that
- 35:27Speaker 4: first Jurassic Park, and that stuff holds up. Granted, they
- 35:31Speaker 4: mixed in a decent amount of practical as well, but
- 35:34Speaker 4: they blended so well that it's amazing how well that
- 35:38Speaker 4: first Jurassic Park holds up versus some of the stuff
- 35:41Speaker 4: in Jurassic World goes a little too cartoony for me.
- 35:45Speaker 2: Even that final T-Rex fight, I was like, oh man,
- 35:48Speaker 2: I wish this was more realistic.
- 35:51Speaker 4: Except Blue's awesome. You're my boy, Blue.
- 35:54Speaker 5: That's all I'm saying.
- 35:56Speaker 4: That's all I'm saying.
- 35:56Speaker 3: Little buddy.
- 35:59Speaker 4: Oh, this one I like because it's very specific. Ultron's mouth.
- 36:04Speaker 4: Not Avengers, just Ultron's mouth. Because very specifically they stated,
- 36:09Speaker 4: robots don't need lips. I appreciate that.
- 36:14Speaker 2: I appreciate that, yeah.
- 36:18Speaker 4: And the final other option here, thank God someone said it,
- 36:22Speaker 4: Alvin and the Chipmunks. It almost needs to be named
- 36:25Speaker 4: after that, because that entire series is just an obnoxious
- 36:30Speaker 4: use of CG.
- 36:30Speaker 5: It just keeps going.
- 36:32Speaker 2: So people saw it?
- 36:34Speaker 4: I guess. Just the fact that it exists.
- 36:36Speaker 2: Whoever submitted this was like, they saw it, and then
- 36:40Speaker 2: they were like, you know what, there's too much CGI
- 36:42Speaker 2: in this children's movie.
- 36:44Speaker 4: They sat there for an hour and a half, and
- 36:46Speaker 4: finally by the end they were like, you know what?
- 36:48Speaker 4: I don't think these are real chipmunks. I'm pretty sure
- 36:51Speaker 4: this is CG. I want my money back. Damn you,
- 36:57Speaker 4: Jason Lee. And the winner is Fantastic Four.
- 37:04Speaker 2: Oh, no.
- 37:06Speaker 4: About a third of the way in, they specifically state
- 37:09Speaker 4: it's all well. And I've heard this from, I still
- 37:11Speaker 4: haven't watched it because it looks like trouble. But I've
- 37:14Speaker 4: just like, I've heard many different people be like, you know,
- 37:17Speaker 4: it starts off. pretty promising, and the actors are all
- 37:20Speaker 4: pretty decent actors, and you get two-thirds of the way in,
- 37:24Speaker 4: and let me switch over to their comment here. It says,
- 37:27Speaker 4: the studio must have cut off Josh Trank's budget at
- 37:30Speaker 4: the proverbial knees. Different people reference entirely different things. I
- 37:36Speaker 4: had some people specifically referencing how bad the thing looked.
- 37:39Speaker 4: I had people referencing how bad Johnny Storm looked, but regardless,
- 37:43Speaker 4: a lot of people had problems with Fantastic Four.
- 37:47Speaker 5: Rightfully so.
- 37:48Speaker 4: Four Stick or whatever.
- 37:49Speaker 3: I don't think any movie that they've put out has
- 37:52Speaker 3: been that good at all.
- 37:55Speaker 7: Of what?
- 37:55Speaker 4: Fantastic Four?
- 37:56Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 37:56Speaker 4: Or just any movie in the world?
- 37:58Speaker 5: The original one with.
- 37:59Speaker 6: Oh, well.
- 38:00Speaker 4: Again, I've said it on the show before. The only
- 38:03Speaker 4: good thing about the old series was the Silver Surfer
- 38:06Speaker 4: and Doug Jones. I like it.
- 38:08Speaker 2: The Silver Surfer is badass. It's one of my favorite
- 38:12Speaker 2: comic book characters in general.
- 38:14Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a lot of people's favorite guy.
- 38:16Speaker 3: Such a cool story.
- 38:18Speaker 4: So, yeah. If they can't get it right, just quit trying. Well, again,
- 38:23Speaker 4: they don't want to lose the rights, I'm sure, is
- 38:25Speaker 4: why they keep knocking stuff out. But I'm sticking with
- 38:27Speaker 4: the Roger Corman version. It's the best of the bunch.
- 38:30Speaker 2: Just being greedy. Just hand it over to someone who
- 38:32Speaker 2: can do it right.
- 38:36Speaker 4: Just give them back to Marvel. It's theirs anyway. Just
- 38:39Speaker 4: let them incorporate it into the rest of the family.
- 38:41Speaker 3: It makes me sad they can't use Galactus.
- 38:45Speaker 6: Yet.
- 38:45Speaker 7: Yet.
- 38:46Speaker 4: Give them time. Disney money behind them.
- 38:49Speaker 5: God willing.
- 38:51Speaker 4: Mouse willing. They'll do whatever the hell they want. Same difference, right?
- 38:57Speaker 2: Maybe they just make so much money that they can
- 38:59Speaker 2: handle any lawsuit that gets thrown at them.
- 39:01Speaker 4: I figured that's why I said that before. I was like,
- 39:04Speaker 4: They're going to get Spider-Man because they have mouse money
- 39:08Speaker 4: at this point. They'll be like, Spider-Man is a huge property.
- 39:11Speaker 4: People love Spider-Man. We want to get him in our thing.
- 39:14Speaker 4: Here's a bajillion dollars. We're Disney. We can do that.
- 39:18Speaker 4: And they'll be like, we're Sony. We're half broke right now. So, okay,
- 39:21Speaker 4: we'll do that.
- 39:22Speaker 5: I bet the Disney lawyers, when they negotiate these contracts,
- 39:25Speaker 5: they wear the ears because they can.
- 39:28Speaker 4: They just come in with them on.
- 39:29Speaker 6: They can.
- 39:30Speaker 2: Do it.
- 39:31Speaker 4: Yep, and then they point to their ears, and they
- 39:33Speaker 4: just walk out the door, and they're like, we do
- 39:35Speaker 4: what we want. I don't know, Mickey. All right, next up,
- 39:39Speaker 4: the best kill in a film in 2015. First up,
- 39:44Speaker 4: old Arnold kills young Arnold in Terminator Genisys. I like
- 39:47Speaker 4: Terminator Genisys. I know people like to hate on it. Again,
- 39:51Speaker 4: do I think it's great? No. Do I think it's
- 39:53Speaker 4: a lot of fun? It's a hell of a lot
- 39:55Speaker 4: of fun.
- 39:56Speaker 3: I didn't see it, but I heard it was a
- 39:58Speaker 3: very good action movie.
- 39:59Speaker 4: And I like, again, if you follow this ridiculous timeline,
- 40:03Speaker 4: like none of the Terminator stuff makes any sense, especially
- 40:06Speaker 4: when they start looping around on each other and you
- 40:08Speaker 4: factor in the TV season and all of this stuff.
- 40:12Speaker 4: I'm like, the world would have Butterfly Effect exploded years ago.
- 40:15Speaker 4: So I'm like, None of it can be taken seriously
- 40:17Speaker 4: at this point. We all know that, so just have
- 40:19Speaker 4: fun with it, which is kind of what they do
- 40:21Speaker 4: in Terminator Chances.
- 40:22Speaker 2: Yeah, they let go of the, oh, we need to
- 40:24Speaker 2: make this continuous or whatever.
- 40:26Speaker 4: But they still, like, they do go out of their
- 40:28Speaker 4: way to tie it all back in within the context
- 40:31Speaker 4: of this one story. Now, if you start thinking outside
- 40:33Speaker 4: of that little box they make, it all is going
- 40:36Speaker 4: to fall apart.
- 40:36Speaker 2: Don't do that to yourself.
- 40:37Speaker 4: Yeah, the universe unravels. We know, we know, whatever. But
- 40:40Speaker 4: look at old Arnold. This is kind of fun now.
- 40:42Speaker 4: And I like the new Linda Hamilton character. I don't watch.
- 40:46Speaker 4: I sat there going, who is this? Well, how did
- 40:47Speaker 4: she get this role? And I don't know who she
- 40:49Speaker 4: is because I don't watch. What the hell is that
- 40:53Speaker 4: medieval-y show?
- 40:55Speaker 5: Game of Thrones?
- 40:56Speaker 4: Yeah. I don't watch Game of Thrones. I was just like,
- 40:58Speaker 4: and she has different colored hair. I'm like, oh, that
- 41:00Speaker 4: cute blonde girl that everybody thinks is awesome? Yep, that's her.
- 41:03Speaker 4: She's just got dark hair now. So I'm like, oh, well,
- 41:05Speaker 4: she was cool. The Reese character, not so impressive, but
- 41:09Speaker 4: she was fun.
- 41:09Speaker 2: I'm like, I feel like we're like a minority of
- 41:11Speaker 2: the population when none of us watch Game of Thrones.
- 41:15Speaker 7: No.
- 41:15Speaker 4: Not one of us. There might be something wrong with us.
- 41:17Speaker 4: Could be too much.
- 41:18Speaker 3: I just can't.
- 41:18Speaker 2: Like, I'm going to wait like 10 years until nobody
- 41:21Speaker 2: gives a shit about it anymore. And then maybe I'll
- 41:23Speaker 2: watch the first episode and.
- 41:25Speaker 3: Then be like, eh, never mind.
- 41:25Speaker 5: I'm going to wait until the technology exists where I
- 41:28Speaker 5: can actually watch. It's like the Matrix where it just
- 41:31Speaker 5: gets downloaded into my brain. I'm like, okay, I know
- 41:33Speaker 5: what it is now. Like, I don't want to spend
- 41:34Speaker 5: the hours.
- 41:35Speaker 4: That's my thing. I just didn't have cable when it
- 41:38Speaker 4: came on. And then by the time I got to
- 41:40Speaker 4: a place that now doesn't exist anyway, but they had
- 41:43Speaker 4: box sets that I could take home. I'm like, I'm
- 41:45Speaker 4: like three seasons behind. Shit, I don't have that much
- 41:48Speaker 4: time to sit there and like backlog my way to
- 41:51Speaker 4: get caught up with everybody else.
- 41:52Speaker 5: I still need to finish the wire. I got seasons
- 41:56Speaker 5: to go through on the wire.
- 41:57Speaker 4: I'm so hit and miss with my like trying to
- 41:59Speaker 4: watch series online because there's so many of them. I'm like,
- 42:02Speaker 4: I can't.
- 42:03Speaker 2: I started watching Breaking Bad in the fifth season.
- 42:06Speaker 4: I'm like, it's just there's too much. Like I have
- 42:08Speaker 4: not seen so many shows of that variety because it's
- 42:11Speaker 4: like such a time investment.
- 42:13Speaker 10: You know what?
- 42:14Speaker 5: You and me, Jacqueline, we're kind of full of crap.
- 42:16Speaker 5: Like we have this time to devote to watching these things.
- 42:22Speaker 5: to watching stuff like The Wire, but we just watched Chopped.
- 42:25Speaker 2: We just watched Chopped.
- 42:28Speaker 5: Oh, Nightmare Kitchen. Kitchen nightmares.
- 42:33Speaker 4: I have no sympathy for you. Your punishment is your
- 42:35Speaker 4: own undoing.
- 42:37Speaker 5: We like to watch cooking shows.
- 42:38Speaker 4: You punish yourself in this process.
- 42:39Speaker 6: But Chopped is.
- 42:40Speaker 2: Not an investment. We have nothing invested in it. We
- 42:43Speaker 2: don't have to follow a storyline. We don't have to
- 42:46Speaker 2: get involved in any characters.
- 42:48Speaker 5: No, and the thing is, we watch these shows while
- 42:50Speaker 5: we're eating. It's like this weird, it's like an additional
- 42:54Speaker 5: stimuli to our tongues. We're eating something that's not nearly
- 43:00Speaker 5: as good looking as what's on the show's I.
- 43:02Speaker 4: Can think of a description of this, but I'm not
- 43:06Speaker 4: going to go with it.
- 43:07Speaker 3: Yeah, don't go there. It's already in my head.
- 43:10Speaker 5: I'm not getting it. What is it?
- 43:12Speaker 4: It's gratuitous. Let's leave it that way. I was going
- 43:15Speaker 4: to get more specific with my example, but we all
- 43:18Speaker 4: know it's very self-indulgent. Let's put it that way. All right, so.
- 43:23Speaker 5: I don't get it.
- 43:24Speaker 4: Next up, the death of a Morden Joe in Fury Road.
- 43:31Speaker 4: Pretty impressive.
- 43:32Speaker 5: He looked old and rickety.
- 43:34Speaker 4: That was a good way to take him out, though. Yeah.
- 43:39Speaker 4: Next up, the mind-blowing sequence in Kingsman. Did not do
- 43:43Speaker 4: well at the box office, but we had quite a
- 43:45Speaker 4: few people send in different little aspects of it, so
- 43:48Speaker 4: I think it's got its underlying fan.
- 43:50Speaker 3: Base out there.
- 43:51Speaker 5: I enjoy espionage, that whole subject. I did not see Kingsman.
- 43:57Speaker 5: It looked like a blend of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
- 44:03Speaker 5: with Spy Kids. I didn't see it, but this is
- 44:07Speaker 5: how I formulated it.
- 44:09Speaker 4: I feel like you're not that far off.
- 44:11Speaker 7: Nice.
- 44:11Speaker 5: I'm glad I wasn't too off base.
- 44:14Speaker 4: It didn't pull me in. Back to one of your favorites,
- 44:19Speaker 4: and one more reason you should watch it. The Bathroom
- 44:22Speaker 4: Kill at the Beginning of Crimson Peak. And thank you
- 44:25Speaker 4: to this person for reminding me of that one, because
- 44:27Speaker 4: I was like, wait, like the ghost in the bathroom?
- 44:30Speaker 4: And then I was like, oh, no, no, the one
- 44:31Speaker 4: at the beginning. Oh, shit, it is brutal. It's just like,
- 44:34Speaker 4: even in the theater, I was like, oh, okay, they're
- 44:36Speaker 4: not messing around in this one. It is nice and brutal.
- 44:40Speaker 5: I guess I have to see it now.
- 44:41Speaker 4: Yeah, you have to.
- 44:42Speaker 5: I really have to see it.
- 44:43Speaker 4: It's worth watching. There's nice bloody aspects to it. And
- 44:46Speaker 4: the next one, actually, they gave a more specific description
- 44:50Speaker 4: on this one, but because some people still haven't seen it,
- 44:53Speaker 4: I'm going to go with the original one, the fillet
- 44:55Speaker 4: scene in Bone Tomahawk.
- 44:57Speaker 6: No.
- 44:59Speaker 4: If I were picking, this is kind of the winner.
- 45:01Speaker 4: It's an impressive kill in many, many ways. But the
- 45:07Speaker 4: winner is not what I would have expected. The winner
- 45:11Speaker 4: is Benicio Del Toro's Revenge in Sicario, which they also
- 45:17Speaker 4: described as the family dinner murder, which I feel like,
- 45:20Speaker 4: I guess they're going with more like a the weight
- 45:24Speaker 4: of the act, like the character development, because again, he's
- 45:28Speaker 4: probably the best developed character in the movie. Sadly, our
- 45:32Speaker 4: lead female character has nothing to do.
- 45:34Speaker 7: Bullshit.
- 45:35Speaker 4: She's a great actress, but she has nothing to do.
- 45:38Speaker 4: So I'm just, yeah, I think that's the most functional.
- 45:41Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like the most satisfying too.
- 45:43Speaker 4: Yeah, it really, that's what it is. And I guess
- 45:45Speaker 4: that's why it got the votes that it did, because
- 45:47Speaker 4: it is very satisfying. It's not really like a massively
- 45:52Speaker 4: impressive movie. blood and guts display, which is usually the
- 45:54Speaker 4: kind of thing that wins this category.
- 45:57Speaker 5: It was very tasteful.
- 45:58Speaker 4: Yeah, I was surprised that people went with this.
- 46:00Speaker 5: I didn't think that a whole family, including two or
- 46:05Speaker 5: three children being murdered during dinner could be so tasteful.
- 46:08Speaker 5: It was really great.
- 46:09Speaker 4: By the way, spoiler alert for Sicario.
- 46:11Speaker 5: Oh, sorry.
- 46:12Speaker 2: If they're watching or listening to the Oscars, they need
- 46:15Speaker 2: to be prepared.
- 46:16Speaker 4: They'll probably show that clip in the Oscar clips. Hey,
- 46:21Speaker 4: while you're watching this, by the way, they do that sometimes.
- 46:23Speaker 4: They will totally ruin a key moment in a movie
- 46:26Speaker 4: in their little Oscar clips.
- 46:28Speaker 2: When they're doing best actor stuff, and it's a pivotal
- 46:30Speaker 2: moment in the movie.
- 46:31Speaker 4: Half the time, I'm like, a lot of people go
- 46:34Speaker 4: and see them because they won the Oscar. You're not
- 46:37Speaker 4: dealing with just people who've seen the movie.
- 46:39Speaker 2: But if seeing a pivotal moment ruins the movie for you,
- 46:43Speaker 2: you've got problems.
- 46:44Speaker 4: Sometimes... It's arguable.
- 46:47Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 46:47Speaker 4: Sometimes there are certain things that are better not knowing.
- 46:50Speaker 3: I guess only for like M.
- 46:51Speaker 2: Night Shyamalan movies.
- 46:53Speaker 4: Like they show the twist.
- 46:56Speaker 3: God.
- 46:58Speaker 4: It's the wind.
- 47:00Speaker 3: It's just the wind.
- 47:01Speaker 5: Plants, man.
- 47:05Speaker 4: Alright, next up. The best villain in a 2015 film.
- 47:09Speaker 4: Rose Byrne in Spy. Which I like. You don't get
- 47:12Speaker 4: a lot of the comedies and Rose Byrne, you didn't
- 47:16Speaker 4: see coming.
- 47:16Speaker 2: I really liked Spy.
- 47:19Speaker 3: I thought it was a quality, just little throwaway comedy movie.
- 47:23Speaker 3: I enjoyed it quite a bit.
- 47:25Speaker 4: I've been hearing much better things. Usually modern comedies are terrible,
- 47:28Speaker 4: so I like when they deliver something that's not.
- 47:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 47:32Speaker 2: No, I laughed throughout the movie.
- 47:35Speaker 3: I mean, it was dumb comedy, but it made me
- 47:38Speaker 3: laugh a lot.
- 47:39Speaker 4: Again, there's a fine line. I'm okay with dumb it's
- 47:42Speaker 4: just finding a smart way to present the dumb like
- 47:45Speaker 4: that's in most comedies now it's like there isn't anything
- 47:49Speaker 4: smart it's just dumb on top of dumb and i
- 47:51Speaker 4: think i can't stand it.
- 47:53Speaker 2: Yeah and i was like waiting for them to just
- 47:55Speaker 2: make fat joke after fat joke and so when they
- 47:57Speaker 2: didn't it was like a pleasant surprise i was like
- 48:00Speaker 2: oh you're not using any crutches this is really cool.
- 48:03Speaker 4: So much better than just falling down and making fat
- 48:06Speaker 4: jokes the whole time so yeah she did fall off
- 48:08Speaker 4: the scooter Well, again.
- 48:10Speaker 5: The scooter stalled and she fell to her side.
- 48:12Speaker 4: That kind of slapstick, you're going to get falling down.
- 48:14Speaker 4: But I'm like, again, if you find the right way
- 48:16Speaker 4: to do it, it can be hilarious. But just don't
- 48:19Speaker 4: rely on that as the only thing in your movie.
- 48:21Speaker 2: She did get the cupcake necklace. But that was part,
- 48:25Speaker 2: they were in a fancy restaurant, Hannah, this jewelry box.
- 48:29Speaker 4: That's why you're wearing none tonight. It's your little tribute
- 48:32Speaker 4: to Melissa.
- 48:33Speaker 5: I also enjoyed the vomiting, spoilers, The vomiting sequence at
- 48:40Speaker 5: the death of the fellow who fell off of the thing.
- 48:44Speaker 4: So, we like Spy.
- 48:45Speaker 3: I like Spy. I do.
- 48:47Speaker 2: So, this is for best villain.
- 48:49Speaker 4: Best villain, Rose Byrne. Yeah, then we had two from
- 48:53Speaker 4: the same. We had, is it the War Boys? What
- 48:56Speaker 4: were they called in Mad Max? All the white painted
- 49:02Speaker 4: dudes that were chasing them the whole time.
- 49:03Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 49:04Speaker 5: They had the whole Valhalla thing in their minds. Sniffing something.
- 49:10Speaker 5: Some kind of paint-ish inhalant.
- 49:14Speaker 3: They liked huffing stuff.
- 49:15Speaker 5: Yeah. Keyboard cleaner.
- 49:18Speaker 4: I believe they referred to them as the War Boys
- 49:21Speaker 4: in Fury Road. So, they, as the entity, are the
- 49:24Speaker 4: best villain, according to this nomination. Followed by Immortan Joe. So,
- 49:30Speaker 4: they split it into two different ones, different people. Also,
- 49:34Speaker 4: Tom Hardy in The Revenant.
- 49:36Speaker 7: And.
- 49:37Speaker 4: Again, maybe one of my favorite comments the entire awards.
- 49:41Speaker 4: Best villain in a 2015 film? The Catholic Church in Spotlight.
- 49:44Speaker 5: Yes.
- 49:46Speaker 6: Yes.
- 49:47Speaker 4: Yes.
- 49:48Speaker 2: That would be my winner right there.
- 49:49Speaker 4: Not the winner, but it's pretty damn good. That's damn good.
- 49:52Speaker 4: Points to you, man.
- 49:54Speaker 5: I take that over mush mouth Tom Hardy in The Revenant.
- 49:59Speaker 4: But the foiler goes to, back to our little comments earlier,
- 50:05Speaker 4: Kylo Ren. Very arguable, but he kind of just edged
- 50:10Speaker 4: it out on this category too. But I'm like, I
- 50:13Speaker 4: kind of like it just because I think they're going
- 50:16Speaker 4: a different way. It's like they're trying to be, okay,
- 50:18Speaker 4: it's Star Wars for the new era. So we're going
- 50:21Speaker 4: to go with an entirely new direction on villain.
- 50:24Speaker 5: He's the epitome of the tiger beat villain.
- 50:27Speaker 2: And it's cool because you get to see him choosing
- 50:30Speaker 2: to be the villain. You get to see him.
- 50:32Speaker 4: Have the conflict. He's struggling with... Trying not to be
- 50:36Speaker 4: the villain. We never really see that.
- 50:38Speaker 2: You don't see it, but you can tell. He's like,
- 50:41Speaker 2: all right, I'm making this decision. I'm committing to the
- 50:44Speaker 2: dark side. You get to see him be a villain
- 50:47Speaker 2: in real time.
- 50:48Speaker 5: It's like he's not going to listen to Bright Eyes anymore.
- 50:50Speaker 5: He's going full.
- 50:52Speaker 2: Damn it.
- 50:53Speaker 4: All right, so next up, the best monster in a
- 50:56Speaker 4: 2015 film. First up, Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey.
- 51:00Speaker 4: Now to me, That's funny and all, but I personally
- 51:04Speaker 4: would rather shift the nomination to E.L. James for ever
- 51:07Speaker 4: writing the book and essentially causing this film to be made.
- 51:10Speaker 4: That's my personal adjustment.
- 51:13Speaker 5: Yes, it was a great moment in the BDSM community.
- 51:15Speaker 3: What did you score?
- 51:16Speaker 2: No, it wasn't.
- 51:17Speaker 3: What's the category?
- 51:18Speaker 6: I missed it.
- 51:19Speaker 4: Best Monster.
- 51:19Speaker 3: Monster, okay.
- 51:21Speaker 4: Which I think, again, no. Best Bullshit Character. Again, I
- 51:28Speaker 4: like when people take it their own way, though, because
- 51:30Speaker 4: much like this next one, Whitey Bulger in Black Mask.
- 51:36Speaker 4: So then I'm like, are we talking the character as
- 51:38Speaker 4: a person? Because, yeah, he's kind of a monster. Or
- 51:41Speaker 4: just the performance of Johnny Depp. Either way, it kind
- 51:45Speaker 4: of works.
- 51:46Speaker 5: Monstrous fish eyes. Whatever those contacts were.
- 51:50Speaker 4: Now, I thought this was interesting because we had two
- 51:52Speaker 4: different characters from the same little crazy area of a
- 51:57Speaker 4: crazy movie we had both bing bong and jangles the
- 52:00Speaker 4: clown both nominated from inside out oh so again well
- 52:07Speaker 4: i mean monster yes but not monster monster just kind
- 52:12Speaker 4: of like a monster's ink version of a monster i
- 52:15Speaker 4: suppose but i'm like yeah i i Get it? Like,
- 52:19Speaker 4: maybe best monster.
- 52:21Speaker 2: He's the best monster.
- 52:22Speaker 4: He's not the worst monster. He's the best monster. From
- 52:25Speaker 4: that angle, yes, I agree.
- 52:27Speaker 5: The worst you could expect is if he fall asleep
- 52:29Speaker 5: on you, you would die. That's true of a lot
- 52:32Speaker 5: of people, true. He wouldn't do any actively evil stuff.
- 52:37Speaker 4: The red ghosts in Crimson Peak and the troglodytes in
- 52:42Speaker 4: Bone Tomahawk. The winner is Favorite, the bear in The Revenant.
- 52:49Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 52:49Speaker 2: Very nice.
- 52:50Speaker 4: I couldn't argue with that one. I'm like, he's a
- 52:52Speaker 4: freaking monster, right?
- 52:54Speaker 3: That is, oh.
- 52:55Speaker 4: Ask Leo after that scene.
- 52:57Speaker 2: I liked, I hope that like bear attacks and just
- 53:00Speaker 2: like people being shitty hikers is down in the next
- 53:03Speaker 2: year just from being like, okay, so I really don't
- 53:06Speaker 2: want to fuck with bears.
- 53:07Speaker 4: I don't want to get.
- 53:08Speaker 2: I need to have bells on my hiking stick.
- 53:11Speaker 4: I don't want to get attacked by a CG bear. Exactly.
- 53:14Speaker 4: Because mine, that's kind of my only issue with The Revenant.
- 53:18Speaker 4: It almost falls in a CG category.
- 53:22Speaker 2: Yeah, because you really need to be attacked by a
- 53:23Speaker 2: real bear.
- 53:24Speaker 4: Yeah, if he's method. Get your shit together, Leo. Do
- 53:28Speaker 4: you want to win this Oscar or not?
- 53:30Speaker 5: We're going to see if that pays off tonight.
- 53:32Speaker 4: I'm going to wait.
- 53:33Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 53:34Speaker 4: I mean, it is an amazing thing that they still
- 53:37Speaker 4: put together with him and all that's going on and
- 53:40Speaker 4: the fact that there's not a bear there.
- 53:41Speaker 5: I wonder if he doesn't get the Oscar, if Leo
- 53:43Speaker 5: does not get the Oscar tonight, he will go on
- 53:47Speaker 5: some grizzly man expedition and be mauled and then finally
- 53:52Speaker 5: film himself and be like, hey, I love these bears
- 53:56Speaker 5: and all this other weird Timothy Treadwell stuff. Like, if
- 54:01Speaker 5: I was gay, life would be so much easier. And
- 54:03Speaker 5: then he gets killed.
- 54:04Speaker 2: There's Nick again.
- 54:08Speaker 4: Cheery as always.
- 54:10Speaker 5: It was a weird movie.
- 54:14Speaker 3: Grizzly Man?
- 54:14Speaker 5: It was kind of funny.
- 54:17Speaker 3: Yeah, no, it was definitely funny.
- 54:20Speaker 5: You silly bear. And his face is not there.
- 54:23Speaker 2: They never showed his face not being there.
- 54:26Speaker 4: They didn't. They showed.
- 54:29Speaker 5: Werner Herzog listening to clips of his face not being there.
- 54:33Speaker 4: You know that recording's out there. Thank you, internet. It's
- 54:41Speaker 4: the disturbing looks you see with Werner Herzog. Yeah, you'll
- 54:44Speaker 4: get those because it's like, oh, oh, good lord. They're
- 54:48Speaker 4: not messing around.
- 54:49Speaker 3: This is it.
- 54:50Speaker 4: This is the audio. Thanks, internet. Everything that you think
- 54:56Speaker 4: horrible is out there on the internet, it's there.
- 54:58Speaker 2: It's there.
- 54:58Speaker 4: It's all there.
- 55:00Speaker 2: So if Leo just got his face ripped off, then
- 55:03Speaker 2: he would get the Oscar. Or maybe he would just
- 55:05Speaker 2: get Werner Herzog to come hang out.
- 55:07Speaker 4: At his house. Do you mind if I poke that? Ow,
- 55:12Speaker 4: quit it. Ow, quit it. It's fascinating. Best action sequence
- 55:18Speaker 4: in a 2015 film. The traffic jam border crossing scene
- 55:22Speaker 4: in Sicario.
- 55:23Speaker 5: It was good.
- 55:25Speaker 7: It was?
- 55:27Speaker 5: Filled me up.
- 55:27Speaker 4: What? You having dinner? Because you'll get shot. The Ant-Man
- 55:33Speaker 4: Yellow Jacket fight on a train, which again is pretty impressive.
- 55:37Speaker 4: I have issues with that movie overall, but that's probably
- 55:40Speaker 4: the best part of it. The first flight and battle
- 55:44Speaker 4: for the Millennium Falcon in The Force Awakens. That is
- 55:46Speaker 4: pretty damn cool.
- 55:47Speaker 5: Yeah, that's pretty cool.
- 55:48Speaker 4: Especially for geeks that you're returning to the Falcon. You
- 55:52Speaker 4: finally get to see it after... Wait, how many? 20
- 55:55Speaker 4: years or something? Like, I've not seen.
- 55:57Speaker 7: It in action.
- 55:58Speaker 3: So many fist pumps in that movie theater.
- 55:59Speaker 4: Pulling out of mothballs and go start blowing things up.
- 56:02Speaker 4: It's pretty awesome. This one, we had kind of a
- 56:06Speaker 4: split on which part of it, but I got to
- 56:08Speaker 4: agree with both of them. They're both kind of awesome.
- 56:10Speaker 4: The full team, occasionally slow-mo attack at the beginning of
- 56:13Speaker 4: Age of Ultron, and then the Hulk versus Iron Man
- 56:17Speaker 4: in Age of Ultron. Both kind of awesome. Can't argue
- 56:20Speaker 4: with those.
- 56:21Speaker 7: Yep, yep.
- 56:22Speaker 4: Also described as the melee in the church in Kingsman.
- 56:27Speaker 4: But the winner for best action sequence goes to, and
- 56:31Speaker 4: I like this, best action sequence, the entirety of Mad
- 56:35Speaker 4: Max Fury Road.
- 56:37Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 56:37Speaker 4: Because it really is just one big long action sequence.
- 56:40Speaker 4: One giant action movie. I can't argue with you guys.
- 56:42Speaker 7: Relentless.
- 56:42Speaker 4: You called it right, so best action.
- 56:46Speaker 2: I would like to say something about the Hulk and
- 56:48Speaker 2: the Iron Man scene. I just love that this whole
- 56:54Speaker 2: series has made Hulk scary again.
- 56:57Speaker 4: After two movies where people went.
- 57:00Speaker 3: Why are we watching this?
- 57:03Speaker 2: The Hulk is not goofy. The Hulk is terrifying.
- 57:09Speaker 4: I'm trying to decide because I feel like at some
- 57:11Speaker 4: point they're going to want to make a Hulk movie.
- 57:13Speaker 4: I'm like, does he work as a main character? It
- 57:19Speaker 4: can work.
- 57:20Speaker 5: There's people working on eggshells around him all the time.
- 57:23Speaker 4: He works so well as the side character that all
- 57:26Speaker 4: these other guys kind of bring in the story and
- 57:28Speaker 4: then he just drives it home and is a badass.
- 57:30Speaker 4: But I think they're developing him more. They are. And again,
- 57:33Speaker 4: I like, now that we've switched, no offense to the
- 57:36Speaker 4: previous actors, but I like what we're bringing to him now.
- 57:40Speaker 4: I like Mark Ruffalo. I love what he's kind of
- 57:43Speaker 4: doing with it and he really has found this way
- 57:46Speaker 4: to make him like He's not just like completely clueless
- 57:51Speaker 4: that it's going on. He's not powerless to it. He
- 57:53Speaker 4: struggles with it.
- 57:54Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 57:55Speaker 4: And at the same time.
- 57:56Speaker 3: He's not completely powerless.
- 57:57Speaker 4: Kind of knows what it's there for. Like by the
- 58:01Speaker 4: time these movies go on and we spent more time
- 58:03Speaker 4: with him, we see him starting to be like, okay,
- 58:05Speaker 4: maybe there's a reason it's here. Maybe I do need
- 58:08Speaker 4: to make use of this. Or at the same time,
- 58:10Speaker 4: I want to go sequester myself away from the rest
- 58:12Speaker 4: of the world. Like he's kind of torn. It's like,
- 58:14Speaker 4: it is both sides sometimes depending on how he uses
- 58:18Speaker 4: it or it uses him to, again, like it really
- 58:21Speaker 4: is a nice little dynamic and it works so well
- 58:24Speaker 4: in the Avengers movies that I'm afraid, like if we,
- 58:27Speaker 4: give it too much time is it going to ruin
- 58:29Speaker 4: that like I like that we're developing.
- 58:31Speaker 2: It as we're going on yeah like maybe another movie.
- 58:33Speaker 4: Or two from now if we lead to it yeah.
- 58:35Speaker 3: Then there can be a whole Hulk movie maybe so.
- 58:37Speaker 2: But if they had released one at the very beginning
- 58:38Speaker 2: it would have been a mistake.
- 58:39Speaker 4: It would have been yeah it would have been more
- 58:41Speaker 4: of that same thing that we watched not work twice
- 58:43Speaker 4: before so it's yeah I think we've built so much
- 58:46Speaker 4: time with this mark ruffalo version that it could potentially
- 58:50Speaker 4: work but yeah i hope they give it to the
- 58:52Speaker 4: right writer or just continue to let.
- 58:55Speaker 5: John ruffalo because he's awesome he's amazing ruffalo has added
- 58:58Speaker 5: a really nice he's a warmness.
- 59:01Speaker 4: It's humanity to it which you yeah you kind of
- 59:04Speaker 4: need like because otherwise wouldn't you just kind of hate
- 59:06Speaker 4: the hulk i mean it ruins his life. It potentially
- 59:09Speaker 4: can kill everyone around him. It really would not be
- 59:13Speaker 4: a good sympathetic character unless you've got the banner role
- 59:17Speaker 4: as somebody that you can kind of side with. I
- 59:20Speaker 4: don't know. I think he's doing amazing things with a
- 59:23Speaker 4: rarely challenging role.
- 59:26Speaker 2: I just had to say my piece about that. I've
- 59:29Speaker 2: just been so pleased with the Hulk and Bruce Banner's character.
- 59:33Speaker 4: It is a nice little addition to this massive universe
- 59:37Speaker 4: that we've built.
- 59:38Speaker 7: Yes.
- 59:39Speaker 4: All right, so we're going to jump ahead to song
- 59:42Speaker 4: because we're going to round out this half here with
- 59:44Speaker 4: the song part and because it's actually a tie. So
- 59:49Speaker 4: we're going to get to the first half of the...
- 59:52Speaker 4: tie for the winner of favorite use of a song
- 59:56Speaker 4: in a 2015 film and this is another one where
- 59:58Speaker 4: i like to throw in the specifics that the oscars
- 1:00:01Speaker 4: kind of screw up because they're so specific on you
- 1:00:04Speaker 4: have to write it you can only have so many
- 1:00:05Speaker 4: writers and you're gonna have to fit into all this
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: bullshit categories mine's like is it in a movie in
- 1:00:11Speaker 4: 2015 it doesn't have to be originally written for it
- 1:00:14Speaker 4: like because i think there is like an art form
- 1:00:16Speaker 4: to taking a pre-existing song and making use of it
- 1:00:20Speaker 4: and finding the right way.
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: Like what every composer does to everything.
- 1:00:25Speaker 4: Yeah, basically.
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: Every composer is building off something someone has already done.
- 1:00:29Speaker 4: So I think it's even more impressive if you can
- 1:00:32Speaker 4: do it well. If you can take this already completely
- 1:00:34Speaker 4: pre-finished block and then shove it into the middle of
- 1:00:37Speaker 4: your little castle over here and be like, oh, wait,
- 1:00:40Speaker 4: that works. Like, I found the right thing to make
- 1:00:43Speaker 4: this stuff work. So I like throwing it out there
- 1:00:45Speaker 4: to just whatever people. especially having done the music episodes
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: for years now. It's like I got to this this year,
- 1:00:51Speaker 4: and I was like, why are we not doing our
- 1:00:53Speaker 4: own best song that we don't have all those weird stipulations?
- 1:00:57Speaker 4: So the options are Girls Just Wanna Have Fun from Amelisa,
- 1:01:02Speaker 4: The Uptown Girl Slash Let's Get Ridiculous from Trainwreck, Very
- 1:01:08Speaker 4: Rightfully So, Fuck the Police from Straight Outta Compton. Fuck yeah!
- 1:01:13Speaker 4: Get Down Saturday Night from Ex Machina, which again, nice
- 1:01:16Speaker 4: use in that. I did not see that coming in
- 1:01:18Speaker 4: that scene. It's finding the right way to work music
- 1:01:22Speaker 4: into your movie that you didn't know was coming. So
- 1:01:25Speaker 4: I like that one. Waiting for My Moment from Creed,
- 1:01:29Speaker 4: which again, not the band, thankfully. No, no.
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: Good Lord.
- 1:01:32Speaker 4: It's Donald Glover. Yeah, Donald Glover is partially responsible for
- 1:01:38Speaker 4: that and works himself in a lot, which I'm always
- 1:01:40Speaker 4: kind of impressed with Donald Glover as... his music goes
- 1:01:44Speaker 4: yeah he still makes some odd choices along the way
- 1:01:47Speaker 4: but like overall he's just kind of solid yeah he's
- 1:01:50Speaker 4: solid i do like that but the the winner the
- 1:01:54Speaker 4: first half in this tie again i like the use
- 1:01:57Speaker 4: of it in somewhere you didn't see coming playing song
- 1:02:00Speaker 4: by the cure from ant-man oh interesting I would have
- 1:02:06Speaker 4: gone with Fuck the Police myself. Yeah, that's... I kind
- 1:02:09Speaker 4: of feel like that's one that needs to be in
- 1:02:11Speaker 4: that movie.
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like you know it's coming, but still in
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: the theory you're like, yeah, Fuck the Police!
- 1:02:18Speaker 4: Needs to be in many people's lives in this time
- 1:02:22Speaker 4: that we live in. But yeah, so I was glad
- 1:02:25Speaker 4: to see at least get thrown in in the nominations.
- 1:02:27Speaker 4: But yeah. So as we take our break here, we're
- 1:02:30Speaker 4: going to go out on the first of our two
- 1:02:32Speaker 4: winners for favorite song. This is Plane Song.
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: It's so cold.
- 1:02:42Speaker 8: It's so cold.
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: It's so cold.
- 1:02:45Speaker 7: It's so cold.
- 1:03:19Speaker 8: Sometimes she's a baby A kind of.
- 1:03:27Speaker 4: Girlfriend at the.
- 1:03:29Speaker 8: End of, end of A kind.
- 1:03:32Speaker 4: Of girlfriend at the.
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: End of, end of Just sweet, just.
- 1:03:39Speaker 6: Sweet And incidentally, they're tuned in at Kate Kennedy tonight.
- 1:03:59Speaker 10: If the unsinkable Molly Brown wins, Grissom and Young will
- 1:04:01Speaker 10: blast off and buzz the auditorium in their capsule.
- 1:04:06Speaker 6: Well, we're going out of the reading of the world.
- 1:04:09Speaker 10: Oh, by the way, later on tonight, we're going to
- 1:04:12Speaker 10: take up a collection to help President Johnson pay his taxes.
- 1:04:24Speaker 4: So in the midst of all this going on, what
- 1:04:27Speaker 4: I'm really proud to announce is that we have a
- 1:04:30Speaker 4: new sponsor. World of Leathercraft. That's a great name, right?
- 1:04:34Speaker 4: That's what sucked me in. That's an awesome name. But
- 1:04:37Speaker 4: even better than the name itself is the company is
- 1:04:40Speaker 4: run by Ellen. And more importantly, she's one of us.
- 1:04:43Speaker 4: A self-proclaimed geek, she grew up reading sci-fi novels and
- 1:04:47Speaker 4: watching Star Trek and Lost in Space. And now she's
- 1:04:51Speaker 4: grown up and decided to make use of all this
- 1:04:54Speaker 4: geeky knowledge and skill that she's developed over the years
- 1:04:57Speaker 4: to create this business. So at World of Leathercraft, you
- 1:05:01Speaker 4: can get anything from wallets to phone sleeves, laptop bags, purses, bracelets...
- 1:05:07Speaker 4: Money clips, luggage tags, keychains, even book covers. And not
- 1:05:12Speaker 4: just your traditional Celtic designs, although those are available too,
- 1:05:16Speaker 4: but specifically she's catering to these geeky subcultures that we
- 1:05:20Speaker 4: all belong to. You can get designs with Star Wars,
- 1:05:23Speaker 4: Doctor Who, Supernatural, Cowboy Bebop, Magic the Gathering, all these
- 1:05:27Speaker 4: different geeky properties that we know we're into and we
- 1:05:30Speaker 4: want this stuff anyway. And more important to me would
- 1:05:33Speaker 4: be why not get it from someone who is like us?
- 1:05:36Speaker 4: Not just some mass-produced junk that some corporation gets all
- 1:05:39Speaker 4: the money for. This is an individual that created this
- 1:05:43Speaker 4: company and that wants to create individual works of art
- 1:05:47Speaker 4: just for you and specifically geared towards the things that
- 1:05:51Speaker 4: you're into. Plus, because she does each thing individually, you
- 1:05:55Speaker 4: can customize it with different artwork or you can add
- 1:05:57Speaker 4: a message or initials or whatever you want.
- 1:06:01Speaker 7: And.
- 1:06:01Speaker 4: Once again, a big bonus here, free shipping on everything.
- 1:06:05Speaker 4: And Ellen is so dedicated to taking care of her
- 1:06:07Speaker 4: customers that she can even send you pictures of your
- 1:06:11Speaker 4: order while she's working on it. Because she doesn't just
- 1:06:14Speaker 4: do embossing like most generic places would do with leather.
- 1:06:18Speaker 4: She actually hand carves the image and artwork into leather.
- 1:06:23Speaker 4: your piece of leather. It's a time-honored skill that not

- 1:07:59Speaker 8: the Academy Award for the way you made me cry.
- 1:08:01Speaker 8: Your performance was the best of the year. Now take
- 1:08:05Speaker 8: a bow.
- 1:08:06Speaker 10: For Now let's get to the agony and the ecstasy.
- 1:08:15Speaker 7: Our award.
- 1:08:16Speaker 4: Wait, what?
- 1:08:16Speaker 5: Who are the nominees? I was looking at a horrific
- 1:08:19Speaker 5: commercial about Pink Eye. I'm sorry.
- 1:08:22Speaker 4: Forget their impressive acting skills, the hottest actor or actress
- 1:08:26Speaker 4: in a 2015 film.
- 1:08:27Speaker 5: Who are the nominees?
- 1:08:28Speaker 4: The nominees that we had come in for actor are
- 1:08:32Speaker 4: The Rock, which I'm like, really? If we're going hottest,
- 1:08:36Speaker 4: you can't argue that one.
- 1:08:37Speaker 5: Maybe he's the biggest by mass. Quite vast.
- 1:08:41Speaker 4: Quite far and away the biggest by mass especially these
- 1:08:44Speaker 4: days i would not say the hottest bigger i don't
- 1:08:46Speaker 4: know the hottest the most um charming like i i
- 1:08:52Speaker 4: can't not like that motherfucker like he is so damn likable.
- 1:08:55Speaker 5: He's very like he's so yeah.
- 1:08:57Speaker 4: Just yeah he's just got fucking charisma It's ridiculous.
- 1:09:01Speaker 5: I heard that he's nicer than he should be.
- 1:09:03Speaker 4: Yeah. He does the dumbest things that he doesn't need
- 1:09:06Speaker 4: to do, but he's the rock. And he's like, all right, fine.
- 1:09:08Speaker 4: I'll be on your whatever show. He's just so damn
- 1:09:12Speaker 4: cool that it kind of makes me like him a
- 1:09:13Speaker 4: little more. Michael B. Jordan and Creed.
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:09:18Speaker 5: Michael B.
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: Jordan's hot.
- 1:09:19Speaker 4: Tom Hiddleston in Crimson Peak. No.
- 1:09:21Speaker 5: Take those stupid clothes off. What's wrong with this.
- 1:09:23Speaker 4: Fancy Tom Hiddleston?
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: Tom Hiddleston is fine, but he's just so sharp looking
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: that I just can't be like attracted to him.
- 1:09:30Speaker 5: If you touch his face.
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: I know that's sacrilegious. People love Tom Hiddleston. They think
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: he's the hottest guy ever. And I think he's like handsome,
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: but just not like.
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: Hot to me.
- 1:09:42Speaker 5: But if you caress his face.
- 1:09:43Speaker 4: He's not rock hot. No.
- 1:09:44Speaker 5: You get paper cuts.
- 1:09:45Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:09:46Speaker 3: I get paper cuts on that man.
- 1:09:48Speaker 4: He's not big and burly like The Rock. Or our
- 1:09:51Speaker 4: next entry, Zac Efron. No. Big, burly, ripped.
- 1:09:58Speaker 5: He's got kin genitals.
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: I just don't like Zac Efron.
- 1:10:03Speaker 4: The one I was partial to for the wrong reasons.
- 1:10:07Speaker 4: Kurt Russell.
- 1:10:09Speaker 5: Kurt Russell?
- 1:10:10Speaker 4: Either in Bone Tomahawk or The Hateful Eight, mostly for
- 1:10:13Speaker 4: that bitchin' mustache.
- 1:10:15Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:10:16Speaker 4: And the winner is Oscar Isaac in The Force Awakens.
- 1:10:21Speaker 4: But not Ex Machina? Nobody likes Shane Ted Giant Bearded?
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: He had a little bit of a belly.
- 1:10:27Speaker 4: A little bit of a belly and kind of a bitch.
- 1:10:30Speaker 5: He was barefoot.
- 1:10:31Speaker 4: He was a son of a bitch the whole time.
- 1:10:34Speaker 5: He was a drunk.
- 1:10:36Speaker 4: He was a dick. So, maybe that didn't do it,
- 1:10:41Speaker 4: but I don't know. Some people seem to think he...
- 1:10:43Speaker 4: But I was like, it's weird for The Force Awakens
- 1:10:45Speaker 4: because Barely in that movie, which I'm hoping we get
- 1:10:49Speaker 4: that more Oscar Isaac in the long run. And now
- 1:10:53Speaker 4: the hottest actress in a 2015 film, we have Emma
- 1:10:57Speaker 4: Stone in Aloha. By the way, also nominated by the
- 1:11:01Speaker 4: same person who said she was miscast and followed it
- 1:11:04Speaker 4: up with, yeah, I know what I said earlier, but
- 1:11:06Speaker 4: I really like Emma Stone. So I like that even
- 1:11:09Speaker 4: when we're just like, yeah, that's wrong, but man, I
- 1:11:11Speaker 4: really like Emma Stone.
- 1:11:13Speaker 3: I mean, she's hot as hell.
- 1:11:14Speaker 4: I like, I like Smith.
- 1:11:15Speaker 5: She kind of looks like E.T.
- 1:11:19Speaker 7: Ow.
- 1:11:22Speaker 4: Charlize Theron in Mad Max. I like specifically that that
- 1:11:26Speaker 4: version of Charlize, not her super fancy previous roles, but.
- 1:11:29Speaker 5: She's going to be missing an arm.
- 1:11:31Speaker 4: Like, buzz cut, missing an arm, covered in grease the
- 1:11:34Speaker 4: whole time. Masculine women are attractive to me. I was like,
- 1:11:37Speaker 4: hell yeah, I like that. Absolutely. They can't, I mean, they, they,
- 1:11:44Speaker 4: prerequisite really the previous winner herself scarlett johansson in age
- 1:11:49Speaker 4: of ultron but again i was like barely in that
- 1:11:52Speaker 4: movie now she had a real world reason she was
- 1:11:54Speaker 4: barely in that movie but there's not a whole lot
- 1:11:57Speaker 4: of fighting you can do when you're also barely inhale
- 1:12:00Speaker 4: caesar well at this point as long as you can
- 1:12:03Speaker 4: slap her name in the trailer it's cool this one
- 1:12:06Speaker 4: again my favorite entry in this category jennifer jason lee
- 1:12:11Speaker 4: in anomalisa By the way, if you haven't seen the film,
- 1:12:15Speaker 4: it's a stop-motion puppet. Someone listening out there just nominated
- 1:12:20Speaker 4: Hottest as a stop-motion puppet. I love our listeners. Next up,
- 1:12:27Speaker 4: Zoe Kravitz in Dope. Tessa Thompson in Creed. Jennifer Lawrence
- 1:12:34Speaker 4: in Joy. Once again, prerequisite. And Salma Hayek in Everly.
- 1:12:39Speaker 4: And the winner is Daisy Ridley in The Force Awakens.
- 1:12:43Speaker 4: I like this option just because she is sort of,
- 1:12:47Speaker 4: it was my first exposure to seeing her, and I
- 1:12:49Speaker 4: was like, she's really pretty. I also kind of want
- 1:12:53Speaker 4: to see.
- 1:12:53Speaker 3: She's got a really cool outfit, too.
- 1:12:55Speaker 4: I love that. Well, and, like, again, kind of what
- 1:12:57Speaker 4: edges that one up above some of the others, which
- 1:13:00Speaker 4: not really Charlene's. She's also badass. But, like, Daisy Ridley's
- 1:13:03Speaker 4: also really fucking capable. And like an awesome female character,
- 1:13:07Speaker 4: which you don't always get in this category.
- 1:13:09Speaker 3: She had mad triceps.
- 1:13:10Speaker 4: So, yeah. And on top of that, then I saw
- 1:13:13Speaker 4: like in the movie, I was like, well, she's just adorable.
- 1:13:17Speaker 4: And then I saw her in interviews. I'm like, oh, God,
- 1:13:19Speaker 4: she's so much more adorable in the real world. Like
- 1:13:22Speaker 4: watching her do interviews, I'm like, she's just so nice
- 1:13:25Speaker 4: and polite and fun. And I'm like, oh, you're killing me. So, Daisy.
- 1:13:29Speaker 7: Daisy.
- 1:13:30Speaker 4: Just saying.
- 1:13:30Speaker 5: Give her a few years of those little press junkets.
- 1:13:32Speaker 5: She'll be so fatigued.
- 1:13:33Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 1:13:34Speaker 4: She'll be beat to hell by the next movie. But still,
- 1:13:37Speaker 4: right now, she's fresh-faced Daisy.
- 1:13:39Speaker 3: Let that one go.
- 1:13:42Speaker 4: I wasn't even trying to make a thing. I was just...
- 1:13:45Speaker 4: It's a thing all on its own. I didn't name her. Anyway.
- 1:13:49Speaker 4: The 2015 movie you expected to hate but ended up enjoying.
- 1:13:54Speaker 5: Goosebumps.
- 1:13:56Speaker 4: Fantastic Four. Mission Impossible Rogue Nation, Jupiter Ascending, Minions, and
- 1:14:04Speaker 4: the winner is Creed.
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: Which.
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: I didn't think Creed looked that bad.
- 1:14:10Speaker 4: Well, but we're like seven movies in on a series,
- 1:14:14Speaker 4: and now they're not even bringing the main guy in
- 1:14:17Speaker 4: to be the main guy. When they first pitched the
- 1:14:20Speaker 4: idea and I started reading about it, even before the trailer,
- 1:14:23Speaker 4: I was just like, oh, for the love of God,
- 1:14:25Speaker 4: stop making these movies.
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I can see that.
- 1:14:27Speaker 4: And then I saw the trailer and was like, actually,
- 1:14:29Speaker 4: this looks pretty good.
- 1:14:31Speaker 5: Stallone came in. He looked like the meat that he
- 1:14:34Speaker 5: was punching in the earlier Rocky films. He was a mess.
- 1:14:38Speaker 4: I mean... I can't argue that. That's a good observation.
- 1:14:45Speaker 4: I do like this category. The dreariest study of the
- 1:14:48Speaker 4: human condition in a film in 2015. So, the nominees
- 1:14:53Speaker 4: are Anomalisa, Chappie, as previously beloved by four people, the
- 1:15:02Speaker 4: John Cusack bits in Love and Mercy, I like very specific,
- 1:15:06Speaker 4: and I just don't like old versions of Brian Wilson.
- 1:15:10Speaker 4: The Revenant. At first, I wanted to be like, The Revenant.
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:15:15Speaker 4: But I'm like, no, because it's all really about being
- 1:15:19Speaker 4: somewhat hopeful and trying to redeem something horrible and 4,100
- 1:15:24Speaker 4: horrible things that have happened to you. So by the end,
- 1:15:26Speaker 4: it becomes.
- 1:15:27Speaker 2: Tom Hardy was the only horrible one. Everyone else was
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: trying to do the right thing.
- 1:15:30Speaker 4: Everybody else was all right. So yeah, by the end,
- 1:15:33Speaker 4: I changed my mind on The Revenant. But... this. I
- 1:15:37Speaker 4: kind of like the Entourage movie. I'm like, well, that
- 1:15:40Speaker 4: the whole series is a study in dreariness.
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: Spotlight.
- 1:15:46Speaker 7: What?
- 1:15:46Speaker 4: That wasn't in there? Nobody nominated Spotlight. Really?
- 1:15:51Speaker 3: Huh.
- 1:15:52Speaker 6: Okay. You know what?
- 1:15:53Speaker 5: I think this is actually some form of a cover-up still.
- 1:15:56Speaker 5: In your nomination process, there's some hidden hand. I don't
- 1:16:01Speaker 5: believe it.
- 1:16:03Speaker 4: I like mine the best.
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: If only it were If only it was on there.
- 1:16:06Speaker 5: Yeah, you can't cast that vote.
- 1:16:08Speaker 3: Why can't y'all just, you know, make the right choices here?
- 1:16:11Speaker 4: Well, if that was the case, we wouldn't have the
- 1:16:14Speaker 4: movie Spotlight.
- 1:16:15Speaker 5: Did you all see the list at the end of Spotlight?
- 1:16:18Speaker 5: Did you see that text list? And how quiet the
- 1:16:22Speaker 5: theater got?
- 1:16:22Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:16:24Speaker 4: It's because there's a lot of that going on.
- 1:16:26Speaker 5: There's so many old people.
- 1:16:28Speaker 4: And it's a tie! And it's a tie! We have...
- 1:16:33Speaker 4: The most hateful movie of all. The Hateful Eight. And
- 1:16:37Speaker 4: it's dreary. Everybody in it is ugly and horrible and
- 1:16:42Speaker 4: out for themselves, give or take. I guess Channing Tatum,
- 1:16:45Speaker 4: one of the few people that... My sister. He's got
- 1:16:48Speaker 4: other versions, but still, he's a horrible person, too. So
- 1:16:51Speaker 4: everybody's horrible in it, and yeah, it's an ugly, ugly movie.
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: It's just a selfish, selfish movie.
- 1:16:57Speaker 4: Yeah, from Quentin's point of view, it is kind of. Again,
- 1:17:00Speaker 4: back to him being Very self-indulgent. He's like, what do
- 1:17:02Speaker 4: I want to see? What am I angry about? Everything.
- 1:17:07Speaker 4: And the other winner, our very forward-thinking 21st, 22nd century.
- 1:17:13Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 1:17:14Speaker 4: Option Ex Machina.
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: Okay, I want to kind of disqualify Ex Machina because
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: I don't know if it's really too much of a
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: study of the human condition because that bitch is in.
- 1:17:23Speaker 3: A fucking android.
- 1:17:24Speaker 4: But she's learning how to be human.
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: She's learning how to be, I guess so.
- 1:17:28Speaker 4: I mean, to me, I was like, it's kind of
- 1:17:30Speaker 4: accurate just because it's at the most basest version of
- 1:17:35Speaker 4: like from an outside point of view, studying the human
- 1:17:38Speaker 4: condition and then, oh, guess what humans do?
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:17:42Speaker 5: And the idea of a human level intelligence being like
- 1:17:49Speaker 5: the necessary part of that being deceptions. Because that's ultimately
- 1:17:56Speaker 5: how she was liberated.
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: Deception and survival.
- 1:17:58Speaker 4: Yeah, it's all about.
- 1:18:01Speaker 6: True.
- 1:18:02Speaker 5: Executive level functions.
- 1:18:05Speaker 4: Deluxe model.
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:18:08Speaker 5: What makes humans humans?
- 1:18:10Speaker 10: Survival.
- 1:18:11Speaker 11: Murder.
- 1:18:12Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:18:13Speaker 4: Screwing each other over to beat out somebody else.
- 1:18:15Speaker 5: Messing with power supplies.
- 1:18:17Speaker 3: You could put it like that. As an anthropologist.
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: I would just say that the only thing that sets
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: humans apart from other animals is the ability to have
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: symbolic thought, which allows for deception, but also allows for
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: other positive things.
- 1:18:29Speaker 5: Yeah, like art?
- 1:18:30Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:18:31Speaker 4: Pre-planned murder?
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: The ability to conceptualize anything that's not directly in front
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: of you?
- 1:18:38Speaker 3: Symbolic thought, like that?
- 1:18:39Speaker 4: What about them elephants that paint pictures?
- 1:18:42Speaker 3: Oh, you know what? He just proved me wrong.
- 1:18:44Speaker 5: He did.
- 1:18:45Speaker 7: Damn.
- 1:18:46Speaker 4: Take that, learning stuff. Me and the elephants will be
- 1:18:51Speaker 4: over here with our paints. All right.
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: Moving right along.
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: Let's just sweep all that shit under the rug.
- 1:19:00Speaker 3: Moving on.
- 1:19:03Speaker 4: Oh yeah, and the person who nominated their comment about
- 1:19:07Speaker 4: Hateful Eight was every last despicable one of them hateful.
- 1:19:12Speaker 4: And dreary. Okay, so now we're to the other end
- 1:19:17Speaker 4: of the music when we're at favorite score in a
- 1:19:19Speaker 4: 2015 film. Again, does not have to be specifically created
- 1:19:23Speaker 4: for the film. And the nominees are Turbo Kid, score
- 1:19:28Speaker 4: by Les Matos, which by the way is awesome. If
- 1:19:32Speaker 4: you like Again, the whole thing is sort of set
- 1:19:34Speaker 4: in the 80s in its mind. It's actually off in
- 1:19:37Speaker 4: the distant future, like 1996 or somewhere. But the score
- 1:19:42Speaker 4: is in these special effects and everything about it is
- 1:19:45Speaker 4: set in the 80s and the score is kind of badass.
- 1:19:47Speaker 4: So this band from Montreal is really cool too. Next up,
- 1:19:52Speaker 4: Fury Road, a score by Junkie XL. Once again, we're
- 1:19:55Speaker 4: going kind of very outside the norm with these score
- 1:19:59Speaker 4: options here. I like that.
- 1:20:00Speaker 2: That's a really great score for the movie.
- 1:20:03Speaker 4: Our only other one, there's only two that actually made
- 1:20:07Speaker 4: it in the real world version. Sicario by Johan Johannesson.
- 1:20:13Speaker 4: Love and Mercy, scored by Atticus Ross. This one caught
- 1:20:18Speaker 4: me off guard, straight out of Compton. Scored by Joseph Trepanese.
- 1:20:23Speaker 4: So it kind of was the runner-up. It actually edged
- 1:20:27Speaker 4: out all of the other ones with multiple votes. But
- 1:20:31Speaker 4: the winner is.
- 1:20:33Speaker 11: the hateful eight i mean you can't any more you
- 1:20:36Speaker 11: can't argue with marconi you can't be that goomba he's
- 1:20:40Speaker 11: he i mean he's worked his whole damn life to get.
- 1:20:42Speaker 4: To this point he scored 500 movies damn it i'll
- 1:20:46Speaker 4: do whatever i want make it on there which one
- 1:20:49Speaker 4: it follows last year last year oh god that was
- 1:20:52Speaker 4: one i hate that if you were one of those
- 1:20:54Speaker 4: people that wrote in there were several people that nominated
- 1:20:57Speaker 4: it follows for things but had to And technically it
- 1:21:00Speaker 4: came out in 2014. A lot of people didn't see
- 1:21:02Speaker 4: it until 2015.
- 1:21:03Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:21:05Speaker 4: I can't remember. I saw it pretty early. But the
- 1:21:07Speaker 4: more I thought about it, I was like, wasn't that
- 1:21:09Speaker 4: last year? And I double checked. You can't argue with IMDb.
- 1:21:13Speaker 4: So otherwise it should be right up there because that
- 1:21:16Speaker 4: score is badass. So we can retroactively make that last
- 1:21:20Speaker 4: year's winner since we didn't do that category last year.
- 1:21:22Speaker 5: There we go.
- 1:21:23Speaker 4: It follows wins to 2014 best score.
- 1:21:28Speaker 5: Write that down in your note.
- 1:21:29Speaker 4: Yeah, you got that going for you. All right, so
- 1:21:32Speaker 4: we're coming up to the big ones. Most impressive director
- 1:21:35Speaker 4: of a 2015 film. Now I can butcher some names.
- 1:21:39Speaker 4: Here we go. Denise Villeneuve. That's not right at all.
- 1:21:44Speaker 4: Denise Villeneuve for Sicario.
- 1:21:46Speaker 6: Okay.
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: I just dropped some Gs.
- 1:21:49Speaker 4: No, I didn't know if we needed to do it.
- 1:21:52Speaker 4: Address that or at least point it out to the
- 1:21:53Speaker 4: dog because you're kind of missing it.
- 1:21:54Speaker 5: The dog is eating it now. Desperately.
- 1:22:00Speaker 4: Next up, Alfonso Gomez Rijon for Me and Earl and
- 1:22:05Speaker 4: the Dying Girl. J.J. Abrams for Star Wars The Force Awakens.
- 1:22:11Speaker 4: This one's kind of my vote. No offense to everybody else,
- 1:22:14Speaker 4: but just because it's not near as big as the
- 1:22:17Speaker 4: actual winner. S. Craig Zollier for Bone Tomahawk, which had
- 1:22:24Speaker 4: very little budget and looks fucking amazing. So points to
- 1:22:27Speaker 4: that guy. If you haven't seen it, Put it on
- 1:22:30Speaker 4: your list. It is badass.
- 1:22:32Speaker 3: Gotta see it now.
- 1:22:33Speaker 5: I've heard that phrase bone tomahawk like 20 times and
- 1:22:38Speaker 5: I have not seen the film.
- 1:22:39Speaker 4: It's coming through. People are finding it and realizing. And
- 1:22:43Speaker 4: I also heard so much about it as being kind
- 1:22:45Speaker 4: of weird and unconventional and I'm like I was surprised.
- 1:22:49Speaker 4: It's more or less a western. It plays out. It
- 1:22:52Speaker 4: is Kurt Russell with his western awesome facial hair and
- 1:22:57Speaker 4: he's more or less set in a somewhat traditional western
- 1:23:01Speaker 4: and then it's not so when it goes off the
- 1:23:04Speaker 4: rails into crazy town it is yeah don't spoil it
- 1:23:07Speaker 4: don't spoil it you already knew it was crazy true
- 1:23:13Speaker 4: so i'm telling you putting speed bumps on you i'm
- 1:23:16Speaker 4: telling you don't go the other way because that's how
- 1:23:17Speaker 4: i went in i went in kind of expecting it
- 1:23:19Speaker 4: to be like something really weird and surreal and like
- 1:23:22Speaker 4: different and like it still works as a traditional western
- 1:23:26Speaker 4: it's just also got other aspects Next up, Ryan Coogler
- 1:23:31Speaker 4: for Creed. That was the runner up. Again, got several
- 1:23:35Speaker 4: extra votes coming in for him because he's kind of
- 1:23:37Speaker 4: going to be an awesome director that they're handing major
- 1:23:41Speaker 4: properties to now. So Creed sort of worked out for him.
- 1:23:45Speaker 4: And the winner, runaway winner, probably the most votes for
- 1:23:50Speaker 4: any one thing in the entire operation here. Two thirds
- 1:23:54Speaker 4: of the votes went to George Miller for Fury Road.
- 1:23:58Speaker 3: You can't. You can't argue.
- 1:23:59Speaker 4: He can't argue, no. Dude's been working his whole life
- 1:24:01Speaker 4: to finish this series.
- 1:24:02Speaker 5: Good job, listeners.
- 1:24:03Speaker 4: If he's finished, we don't really know yet. But even
- 1:24:06Speaker 4: if he just knocks this extra one off.
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: In the end.
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: Goes back to happy feet.
- 1:24:10Speaker 4: Yeah. Does Babe taking over the free world.
- 1:24:13Speaker 3: Babe is amazing.
- 1:24:15Speaker 4: I love Babe. I need to, I can't remember if
- 1:24:18Speaker 4: I actually sat down and watched Pig in the City
- 1:24:20Speaker 4: because he directed Pig in the City. He wrote both
- 1:24:23Speaker 4: of them, but he directed Pig in the City.
- 1:24:24Speaker 2: I don't remember Pig in the City being as amazing
- 1:24:27Speaker 2: as Babe Classic was.
- 1:24:28Speaker 4: I thought it was weirder, though.
- 1:24:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, you take the pig out of the farm,
- 1:24:34Speaker 2: it's going.
- 1:24:34Speaker 4: To be weirder.
- 1:24:35Speaker 5: It's like Home Alone 2.
- 1:24:37Speaker 4: Oh, he's lost in New York? I hope there's no
- 1:24:40Speaker 4: Daniel Stern.
- 1:24:41Speaker 5: Chasing him around. I did not see Babe until I was, what,
- 1:24:44Speaker 5: 24 years old?
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: I showed Babe to this man because I was like,
- 1:24:47Speaker 2: you've got to see this.
- 1:24:49Speaker 4: Once again, talk about visuals. And he just kind of
- 1:24:51Speaker 4: played along. Because again, I was like, whatever, dumb kids movie.
- 1:24:54Speaker 4: And I'm like, oh my God, who shot this? This
- 1:24:56Speaker 4: looks amazing. It's awesome visuals.
- 1:24:59Speaker 3: I sing that song to myself. And it's really well written.
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: I sing the song that the farmer sings. I sing
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: that to myself on a regular basis.
- 1:25:07Speaker 4: And you're constantly going up to the dogs being like,
- 1:25:10Speaker 4: who's a little piggy? Suddenly you want to be the
- 1:25:13Speaker 4: farmer's wife. That'll do.
- 1:25:15Speaker 3: That'll do, dog.
- 1:25:16Speaker 4: That'll do, dog. I do say that'll do quite often.
- 1:25:20Speaker 5: That'll do.
- 1:25:20Speaker 4: We're all influenced by Babe is what we've learned.
- 1:25:23Speaker 5: That's the Shrek appropriation of the Babe thing.
- 1:25:26Speaker 3: That'll do.
- 1:25:26Speaker 4: That'll do, donkey. No.
- 1:25:29Speaker 5: That'll do.
- 1:25:30Speaker 4: No Shrek for me. I'm sticking with Babe. Sticking with
- 1:25:33Speaker 4: George and his Babe. All right. Now, the big movies.
- 1:25:41Speaker 4: We have, and I like, once again, everybody else pins
- 1:25:44Speaker 4: it down in their weird little categories. I'm leaving it
- 1:25:47Speaker 4: up to the listener. the voters out there in the
- 1:25:50Speaker 4: world to decide favorite, what you would consider mainstream movie
- 1:25:55Speaker 4: in 2015. So that way they can, what's funny is
- 1:25:59Speaker 4: sometimes it backfires. Sometimes they will call something mainstream and
- 1:26:04Speaker 4: it got votes in Indy. So you kind of have
- 1:26:06Speaker 4: to be careful where you slot it because it could
- 1:26:08Speaker 4: end up not winning because where you think it goes,
- 1:26:11Speaker 4: isn't the same as where other, which again is kind
- 1:26:13Speaker 4: of how movies work because everybody has their own weird
- 1:26:15Speaker 4: thoughts on them. So that having been said, And the
- 1:26:20Speaker 4: nominees are Sicario, The Big Short, Star Wars The Force Awakens, Carol, Creed,
- 1:26:29Speaker 4: but I haven't said it. We all know. Another runaway hit.
- 1:26:33Speaker 4: And the winner is The Foiler Goes to Mad Max
- 1:26:36Speaker 4: Fury Road.
- 1:26:37Speaker 5: Of course.
- 1:26:38Speaker 4: Of course.
- 1:26:39Speaker 5: That's where my vote would have went.
- 1:26:40Speaker 4: How can you not? It's the year of Mad Max,
- 1:26:43Speaker 4: at least for The Foilers. Oscars may have their own plans,
- 1:26:47Speaker 4: but obviously we quit paying attention to the Oscars a
- 1:26:49Speaker 4: while ago. So this is Favorite What You Would Consider
- 1:26:55Speaker 4: Indie Movie in 2015. The nominees are Anomalisa, Ex Machina, Tangerine,
- 1:27:03Speaker 4: That Guy Dick Miller, and Slow West. And we have
- 1:27:08Speaker 4: a tie. The winner is, and again, opposite ends of
- 1:27:12Speaker 4: the spectrum here. The winners are Me and Earl and
- 1:27:15Speaker 4: the Dying Girl. And my personal pick, and I'm glad
- 1:27:19Speaker 4: it won, Turbo Kid is badass. I just recently, I'd
- 1:27:23Speaker 4: heard people talk about it for the last month or two.
- 1:27:26Speaker 4: It popped up on Netflix. I was just like, whatever.
- 1:27:30Speaker 4: Like I have, and one of the people who voted
- 1:27:32Speaker 4: for it said the same thing. He was like, I
- 1:27:34Speaker 4: have such problem when people try to make a cult movie. Like,
- 1:27:37Speaker 4: they're trying to do that because it's a thing now,
- 1:27:40Speaker 4: and a lot of people are trying to do it,
- 1:27:42Speaker 4: and 99% of the time, it totally falls flat. This
- 1:27:45Speaker 4: stuff doesn't work the way they want it to. Somehow,
- 1:27:49Speaker 4: Turbo Kid is not that. Like, it is post-apocalyptic, but
- 1:27:54Speaker 4: sort of seems like it was made in the 80s post-apocalyptic.
- 1:27:57Speaker 4: So Mad Max. Well, it's like Mad Max World, but
- 1:28:00Speaker 4: a kid riding around on a BMX bike. And he's, like,
- 1:28:03Speaker 4: just gathering random junk from our modern day 1980s and, like,
- 1:28:08Speaker 4: piecing them together in his, like, little bunker that he has.
- 1:28:11Speaker 4: And he meets this girl. And, like, there's an evil...
- 1:28:14Speaker 4: Michael Ironside is the evil bad guy.
- 1:28:16Speaker 7: Oh, my God.
- 1:28:17Speaker 4: It's so much fun. So I did not expect to
- 1:28:20Speaker 4: like it that much. And it was really, really cool.
- 1:28:23Speaker 7: Wow.
- 1:28:23Speaker 5: We gotta see that. We gotta stop watching... You guys
- 1:28:26Speaker 5: are watching Chopped.
- 1:28:27Speaker 4: Yeah, wasting your time with these food shows. Especially if
- 1:28:31Speaker 4: it's on Netflix.
- 1:28:31Speaker 2: We have the ability to watch it.
- 1:28:33Speaker 4: We really do. You can be watching these horribly gory scenes, which,
- 1:28:37Speaker 4: by the way, there's a lot of practical effects in.
- 1:28:40Speaker 4: turbo kids so cool.
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: I mean yeah that sounds like a kids movie which
- 1:28:44Speaker 2: would make me stay away from it you might think
- 1:28:46Speaker 2: it sounds like spy kids or something like that tons.
- 1:28:48Speaker 4: Of yeah tons of killing people in super futuristic ways
- 1:28:51Speaker 4: super we gotta.
- 1:28:54Speaker 5: Watch someone make a pomegranate a pomegranate sauce of someone's
- 1:28:59Speaker 5: brain yeah.
- 1:29:00Speaker 4: There is a lot of lasering of people.
- 1:29:02Speaker 3: So you have that going i appreciate the attempt there.
- 1:29:05Speaker 5: Baby oh i need more pork i need more pork food.
- 1:29:09Speaker 4: We do need to get to that and also me
- 1:29:12Speaker 4: and earl and the dying girl which i don't have
- 1:29:13Speaker 4: a big endorsement for because i haven't watched it it
- 1:29:15Speaker 4: sounds depressing but several people submitted it it got votes
- 1:29:21Speaker 4: it was so somebody out there likes it are we
- 1:29:25Speaker 4: ready to go eat pork.
- 1:29:26Speaker 3: Yes, I've been waiting this whole time.
- 1:29:28Speaker 2: I've eaten half of this cheese ball all by myself.
- 1:29:30Speaker 4: You're the cheese ball that didn't plan this appropriately. You
- 1:29:33Speaker 4: have to balance out your day.
- 1:29:34Speaker 3: I thought we were eating.
- 1:29:35Speaker 4: See, here's what I did. You'll notice when you get
- 1:29:38Speaker 4: in there, somebody's cracked open that bologna. Before I got here,
- 1:29:42Speaker 4: I was kind of priming the pump. I was like,
- 1:29:46Speaker 4: but I just work in a bologna sandwich for lunch
- 1:29:49Speaker 4: and then kind of get myself geared up, ready for
- 1:29:52Speaker 4: the pork extravaganza that's going to be unleashed upon me later.
- 1:29:56Speaker 4: So I'm ready to go now because.
- 1:29:58Speaker 3: He had the appetizer.
- 1:30:01Speaker 4: To get into the main 14 pounds of bacon that's
- 1:30:05Speaker 4: getting a main course.
- 1:30:06Speaker 3: And the bacon is good. Stone Cross Farms.
- 1:30:09Speaker 5: Thank you, Stone Cross Farms.
- 1:30:12Speaker 4: StoneCrossFarms.com Let's go have some.
- 1:30:17Speaker 6: Yes. Hey, everybody.
- 1:30:55Speaker 5: Jimmy Pardo from the award-winning podcast Never Not Funny.
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: You are listening to the soon-to-be award-winning movie Meltdown.
- 1:31:02Speaker 2: And I can't deny the fact that you like me
- 1:31:05Speaker 2: right now.
- 1:31:06Speaker 4: You like me.
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: Perhaps you haven't seen the menu.
- 1:31:17Speaker 6: Look around.
- 1:31:18Speaker 7: All I have is meat.
- 1:31:20Speaker 6: Listen to me now! Food is better when it's meaty!
- 1:31:24Speaker 7: Here have a scrumptious pre-tee! Like my tea bowl's squee-tee! BLEACH! BLEACH!
- 1:31:31Speaker 8: BLEACH!
- 1:31:32Speaker 7: My fork may squeal and whistle!
- 1:31:35Speaker 2: As I grind them into slither!
- 1:31:36Speaker 3: Now here I'll be in!
- 1:31:39Speaker 8: So stay! BLEACH! BLEACH!
- 1:31:42Speaker 6: I think we can stand one better when we're dead!
- 1:31:44Speaker 6: I think I'm on the fence!
- 1:31:46Speaker 3: BLEACH!
- 1:31:51Speaker 4: So we're back. How much pork have you had?
- 1:31:55Speaker 2: I've had about two pounds of pork between the sausages,
- 1:32:00Speaker 2: the bacon, the ham cubes, the summer sausage, and about
- 1:32:05Speaker 2: another pound of fat from the cheese. And how are
- 1:32:10Speaker 2: you holding up? I feel like I'm about to slip.
- 1:32:15Speaker 2: I think we should have definitely prepared with some Tums
- 1:32:19Speaker 2: and some Pepto-Bee.
- 1:32:21Speaker 4: Oh, some of us did. I've done those before.
- 1:32:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:32:24Speaker 4: I slid on in with some pre-planned medication.
- 1:32:29Speaker 3: Yeah, well, it's a rookie mistake on my part.
- 1:32:31Speaker 5: Yeah, I suppose.
- 1:32:34Speaker 4: So we've moved on now to dessert, and we're mixing
- 1:32:37Speaker 4: things up. For long-time listeners, both of you, it's a
- 1:32:41Speaker 4: new dessert. We have steered clear of the old, I
- 1:32:46Speaker 4: won't even discuss it. We did too much of that.
- 1:32:49Speaker 4: We've certainly, it wouldn't be the first time we've been
- 1:32:51Speaker 4: accused of doing too much crack. So this year I
- 1:32:54Speaker 4: went an entirely different direction and yet steered right into
- 1:32:57Speaker 4: our theme for the night. This new dessert is chocolate
- 1:33:01Speaker 4: chunk brownies with maple icing and bacon sprinkles.
- 1:33:07Speaker 6: Yep.
- 1:33:08Speaker 2: And when I opened the lid to it, all I
- 1:33:10Speaker 2: smelled was bacon. So I was like, this is going
- 1:33:12Speaker 2: to suck.
- 1:33:13Speaker 4: More freaking bacon.
- 1:33:14Speaker 3: But then I bit into it and I was like, oh,
- 1:33:16Speaker 3: actually it's very good.
- 1:33:17Speaker 4: I kind of slathered on the icing, too, because it
- 1:33:20Speaker 4: was hard to get at it with that thing and
- 1:33:23Speaker 4: thin it out, so I just kept putting more on.
- 1:33:25Speaker 4: Because how is more icing a bad thing?
- 1:33:27Speaker 3: No, it's a perfect amount of icing.
- 1:33:29Speaker 2: Just about one inch to the one inch of brownie.
- 1:33:33Speaker 2: So it's a one-to-one ratio.
- 1:33:34Speaker 4: Damn straight.
- 1:33:37Speaker 5: Toy Story bits coming up.
- 1:33:41Speaker 4: Holy shit, those toys are talking.
- 1:33:43Speaker 5: They are alive.
- 1:33:45Speaker 4: What if Toy Story was really just about toys possessed
- 1:33:48Speaker 4: by a demon?
- 1:33:51Speaker 3: I mean, that would.
- 1:33:52Speaker 4: I mean, it's a slightly different take on it, but
- 1:33:54Speaker 4: not very different.
- 1:33:55Speaker 5: The canon would be a little different.
- 1:33:57Speaker 4: Just barely.
- 1:33:58Speaker 5: At least Tim Allen, he's getting some kind of steady work.
- 1:34:03Speaker 4: Aside from his sitcom. You know you watch it every week,
- 1:34:06Speaker 4: don't you?
- 1:34:07Speaker 7: Oh, wait.
- 1:34:07Speaker 4: I'm not sure anybody watches it. I don't think Tim watches.
- 1:34:10Speaker 7: It every week.
- 1:34:12Speaker 2: I hope you all enjoyed the bacon tonight. because I
- 1:34:14Speaker 2: just about killed myself making it. There was so much
- 1:34:18Speaker 2: fat on that bacon that there was about, like after
- 1:34:21Speaker 2: about two batches, there was like about an inch and
- 1:34:23Speaker 2: a half of bacon grease just popping, just popping everywhere,
- 1:34:28Speaker 2: all up in my face.
- 1:34:30Speaker 4: And as Mama's at the stove, what is it that
- 1:34:32Speaker 4: you said?
- 1:34:33Speaker 3: I don't remember.
- 1:34:34Speaker 2: I just said I hate this fucking bacon or.
- 1:34:35Speaker 4: Something like that. I think you also said, this is
- 1:34:37Speaker 4: the most American thing I've ever done.
- 1:34:39Speaker 7: Oh, yeah.
- 1:34:41Speaker 2: I was just making batch after batch of bacon, just
- 1:34:44Speaker 2: the fattest bacon and the most bacon grease with a
- 1:34:47Speaker 2: bunch of other.
- 1:34:48Speaker 4: God bless America.
- 1:34:51Speaker 5: As I eat a piece of bologna.
- 1:34:53Speaker 3: I did say this is the most American thing I've
- 1:34:54Speaker 3: ever done.
- 1:34:59Speaker 5: Kevin Hart. He's basically... It looks like he's... This is
- 1:35:02Speaker 5: on mute, but it looks like he is auditioning for
- 1:35:04Speaker 5: some future Oscar hosting job.
- 1:35:07Speaker 4: Guys, I'm black too. That's really all he had to
- 1:35:10Speaker 4: write on the resume.
- 1:35:11Speaker 5: But you can't put the Oscar statue next to him
- 1:35:15Speaker 5: in any way.
- 1:35:16Speaker 4: Yeah. Well, I mean, those other ones are really big anyway.
- 1:35:19Speaker 4: Just the regular one. He's like, damn, this guy's tall.
- 1:35:24Speaker 4: So is there any other highlights you'd like to cover
- 1:35:27Speaker 4: this evening? Other than the fact that so far Mad
- 1:35:31Speaker 4: Max is just winning everything.
- 1:35:33Speaker 3: Just a total sweep.
- 1:35:35Speaker 2: Except for that Ex Machina.
- 1:35:37Speaker 3: Swooped in there.
- 1:35:38Speaker 4: Sneaking in with visual effects. Good going. I know. Crazy
- 1:35:42Speaker 4: androids out of control. They were afraid they were going
- 1:35:44Speaker 4: to kill him, probably.
- 1:35:46Speaker 5: This is the weekend performance, I'm guessing.
- 1:35:48Speaker 2: I wish we could fast forward on live TV.
- 1:35:52Speaker 4: At least we don't have tape asses like we had
- 1:35:55Speaker 4: in the music video.
- 1:35:56Speaker 3: And at least it's on mute.
- 1:35:58Speaker 4: Thank God. I don't hate the weekend the rest of
- 1:36:01Speaker 4: the time. This song is just lame.
- 1:36:03Speaker 5: The first Weekend album, House of Balloons, was really, was
- 1:36:07Speaker 5: pretty good. I mean, it was varied enough. Like, each
- 1:36:10Speaker 5: song had its own little thing, mostly. But then, just
- 1:36:15Speaker 5: the whole, like, I'm so sad by how much drugs
- 1:36:19Speaker 5: and sex I have.
- 1:36:22Speaker 4: Oh, wait, so he became a rock star is what
- 1:36:23Speaker 4: you're saying.
- 1:36:25Speaker 5: Yeah, it just gets, I don't sympathize anymore.
- 1:36:28Speaker 4: It's the story of every rock star.
- 1:36:31Speaker 7: Oh.
- 1:36:33Speaker 2: He's got this weird double mullet going on.
- 1:36:35Speaker 4: I still, I'm most impressed with, as Michael said during
- 1:36:41Speaker 4: the soundtrack episode, they said his hair looked like it
- 1:36:44Speaker 4: had been bitten by a shark. I'm like, damn it,
- 1:36:48Speaker 4: that's awesome.
- 1:36:51Speaker 5: It does have these serrated chunks out of it.
- 1:36:54Speaker 3: It does? Pork has just brought me down so much.
- 1:36:59Speaker 2: Like, I drank, like, three cups of coffee before you
- 1:37:02Speaker 2: got here.
- 1:37:03Speaker 4: And then you drank all that pork fat.
- 1:37:05Speaker 3: And now it's like, I feel like I've been awake
- 1:37:07Speaker 3: for three days.
- 1:37:07Speaker 4: I told you, don't drink the grease. Like, once it's
- 1:37:10Speaker 4: done in the bacon, you know, pan, you just dump
- 1:37:13Speaker 4: it out or throw it out the window at your neighbors.
- 1:37:15Speaker 2: I feel like the fat has solidified in my gastrointestinal tract,
- 1:37:19Speaker 2: which doesn't make any sense because it needs to be
- 1:37:21Speaker 2: able to cool down to do that, but.
- 1:37:23Speaker 5: Yeah, this has been like... The equivalent of pork we've
- 1:37:28Speaker 5: eaten is like about two and a half Xanax.
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:37:34Speaker 4: I'm fine. I don't know what's wrong with you guys.
- 1:37:37Speaker 4: Freaking amateurs.
- 1:37:39Speaker 2: I know.
- 1:37:43Speaker 4: I did say you're eight, right?
- 1:37:46Speaker 3: I do normally eat green things sometimes.
- 1:37:49Speaker 4: What?
- 1:37:49Speaker 2: What?
- 1:37:50Speaker 9: What are these?
- 1:37:50Speaker 4: I know, so my body is.
- 1:37:52Speaker 3: Not used to only eating brown.
- 1:37:55Speaker 4: You're doing it wrong. The only green food you need
- 1:37:58Speaker 4: is Jell-O.
- 1:37:59Speaker 2: Like, I'm abnormally thirsty right now just from the salt.
- 1:38:04Speaker 4: Just a little bit of salt. On that note... It.
- 1:38:09Speaker 3: Was addictive, though.
- 1:38:10Speaker 2: I was like, all right, I've had six slices of bacon.
- 1:38:14Speaker 3: Time for some more.
- 1:38:15Speaker 2: And dip it in queso.
- 1:38:16Speaker 4: Yeah, that was happening. There was... Mini pork salty dough
- 1:38:24Speaker 4: wrapped thing being then shoved in queso. God bless America.
- 1:38:29Speaker 2: I know. don't don't make the listeners too jealous.
- 1:38:34Speaker 4: Speaking of them a big thank you to all of
- 1:38:37Speaker 4: our listeners uh mostly the people specifically this week who
- 1:38:42Speaker 4: actually like got involved and helped out and vote on
- 1:38:46Speaker 4: these categories. And the show works better if you are involved.
- 1:38:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:38:52Speaker 3: You all are the real MVP.
- 1:38:54Speaker 4: Interactive. That's what we're looking for. So if nothing else,
- 1:38:58Speaker 4: email us at geeksatmoviemeltdown.com and tell us how you can
- 1:39:02Speaker 4: get involved or you can be part of this crazy
- 1:39:05Speaker 4: nonsense next year. But I'm sure we can find something
- 1:39:07Speaker 4: else fun to do in the meantime. So yeah, just
- 1:39:11Speaker 4: get involved. And thank you to the people who did tonight.
- 1:39:14Speaker 4: Because you gave us some of the best stuff on
- 1:39:16Speaker 4: the show where you're smart-ass comments.
- 1:39:18Speaker 2: And I do feel like a martyr.
- 1:39:20Speaker 3: I feel like a martyr right now after having all
- 1:39:22Speaker 3: that bacon. Like I'm going to die tonight for the show.
- 1:39:28Speaker 3: So you're welcome.
- 1:39:30Speaker 4: Eh, no thanks to you. Anyway, you got tons of
- 1:39:32Speaker 4: bacon out of it. What do you want? You got
- 1:39:34Speaker 4: the bonus built right in. 14 pounds of bacon parked
- 1:39:37Speaker 4: right on your countertop.
- 1:39:39Speaker 2: I'm going to send you my hospital bill.
- 1:39:42Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:39:44Speaker 4: Like I have insurance. God bless America. God bless America.
- 1:39:47Speaker 4: But anyway, thank you to everyone who voted and then
- 1:39:51Speaker 4: helped us create the wonderful winners you've heard here tonight.
- 1:39:57Speaker 4: On your other cheery comments, thank you once again to
- 1:40:01Speaker 4: Stone Cross Farm for helping out with some of the
- 1:40:05Speaker 4: food for this year's festivities. I enjoyed it greatly. It
- 1:40:09Speaker 4: was amazing.
- 1:40:11Speaker 5: Thank you, Stone Cross Farms.
- 1:40:12Speaker 4: It was so.
- 1:40:12Speaker 2: Incredible that I ate myself to the hospital.
- 1:40:17Speaker 4: Find out more about them or send your.
- 1:40:20Speaker 5: Send your hospital bills? Send your heart replacement?
- 1:40:24Speaker 4: Send them some sort of cry for help for some
- 1:40:28Speaker 4: poor girl dying somewhere.
- 1:40:30Speaker 3: Also, special thanks to the Jewish Hospital.
- 1:40:34Speaker 4: The heart wing.
- 1:40:35Speaker 3: The treatment center.
- 1:40:38Speaker 4: The wing where they replaced my heart. That Jarvik 7
- 1:40:41Speaker 4: is pumping away just fine now. Find out more at stonecrossfarm.com.
- 1:40:49Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 1:40:52Speaker 5: Oh, she's got your glasses.
- 1:40:56Speaker 4: Kate Winslet, hot and a nerd, all at the same time.
- 1:41:00Speaker 6: Mm-hmm.
- 1:41:01Speaker 2: And also looks like some electrical tape.
- 1:41:04Speaker 4: Oh, that's all right.
- 1:41:05Speaker 6: I'm okay with that.
- 1:41:07Speaker 4: Somewhere Lucy's cursing Reese's name right now. Oh, otherwise, we
- 1:41:13Speaker 4: do have the other half of our winning musical act
- 1:41:17Speaker 4: to go out on tonight. So this is the other
- 1:41:20Speaker 4: half of the favorite song in a 2015 film not
- 1:41:24Speaker 4: originally created for the film. Or it could be, but
- 1:41:26Speaker 4: in this case, it's not. So the final winner is
- 1:41:30Speaker 4: This song is The Big Ship by Brian Eno. That
- 1:41:34Speaker 4: was from me and Earl and the Dying Girl, our
- 1:41:37Speaker 4: other winner for best indie film, sort of in some
- 1:41:42Speaker 4: people's minds. So that's how we're going to go out. Fantastic.
- 1:41:46Speaker 4: Anything else you'd like to pass along to people before
- 1:41:49Speaker 4: you die? Would you at least sign over some stuff
- 1:41:53Speaker 4: to me?
- 1:41:53Speaker 3: Like some dying words.
- 1:41:54Speaker 4: Are you the dying girl that me and Earl need
- 1:41:56Speaker 4: to bury in the backyard? I don't know who the
- 1:41:57Speaker 4: fuck Earl is, though. I'm assuming that's how that was.
- 1:42:01Speaker 4: Me and Earl are going to bury her in the
- 1:42:02Speaker 4: backyard so we can take off with this sweet-ass pork
- 1:42:06Speaker 4: we got going on here. Otherwise, that about does it.
- 1:42:10Speaker 4: We'll return next time, Same Geek Feed. Thanks for putting
- 1:42:13Speaker 4: up with us.
- 1:42:15Speaker 7: Bye.
- 1:42:15Speaker 5: Goodbye.
- 1:42:15Speaker 2: What was that?
- 1:42:18Speaker 5: It was joyous.
- 1:42:20Speaker 2: That was like the max, and it's like, you're shutting it.
- 1:42:23Speaker 3: Down the computer.
- 1:42:24Speaker 4: It's like, goodbye.
- 1:43:47Speaker 7: Thank you. Thank you.
- 1:44:50Speaker 6: This means a lot to everyone in the movie industry.
- 1:44:52Speaker 10: This is the night wars and politics are forgotten and
- 1:44:56Speaker 10: we find out who we really hate.
- 1:45:01Speaker 4: Talking dogs. That's what we need on our podcast. Talking dogs. Rawr.
- 1:45:05Speaker 5: It's very mild.
- 1:45:06Speaker 4: This is creepy. You guys have worked out some sort
- 1:45:08Speaker 4: of weird creepy thing with this poor dog. Do you
- 1:45:10Speaker 4: need help? Blink twice if you need me to call
- 1:45:13Speaker 4: the dog police. That was half. That was half.
- 1:45:16Speaker 5: He's done. He's out of here.
- 1:45:18Speaker 4: He winked at me, so he knows something's up.
- 1:45:19Speaker 5: He's pleading the fifth here. So what are you wearing?
- 1:45:23Speaker 5: I'm wearing Giorgio....
- 1:45:27Speaker 4: Amontasante?
- 1:45:28Speaker 5: Amontasante... Or is that a coffee? I'm wearing a button.
- 1:45:36Speaker 4: Super Santa Sangre? Super.
- 1:45:38Speaker 5: I'm wearing a ceviche button with a Mars Capone hat.
- 1:45:47Speaker 5: All right, I'll go with that if I get some
- 1:45:49Speaker 5: kind of benefit from it.
- 1:45:50Speaker 4: You can have a piece of bacon.
- 1:45:51Speaker 5: Yeah, you can have some bacon. I need a kickback, yeah.
- 1:45:53Speaker 5: Give me the bacon kickback.
- 1:45:54Speaker 4: You can have a pound of bacon.
- 1:45:56Speaker 11: All right.
- 1:45:56Speaker 2: You got five more to spare.
- 1:45:58Speaker 4: You personally can have a pound of bacon.
- 1:46:00Speaker 5: This is diplomacy. My vote is cast.
- 1:46:03Speaker 3: Cheers, everybody.
- 1:46:04Speaker 7: Cheers.
- 1:46:07Speaker 5: My radio days are a bit dusty, so I'm just
- 1:46:10Speaker 5: going to.
- 1:46:10Speaker 4: You think?
- 1:46:13Speaker 2: I'm going to have to choose systematic pedophilia. and cover-ups
- 1:46:18Speaker 2: as my dreariest human condition. You can have bitch abandon
- 1:46:22Speaker 2: some dude.
- 1:46:23Speaker 3: In the middle of nowhere.
- 1:46:25Speaker 2: The wind one with the planes and the pilots.
- 1:46:28Speaker 5: Breaking wind?
- 1:46:29Speaker 3: It wasn't called Breaking Wind.
- 1:46:33Speaker 4: You're fired.
- 1:46:36Speaker 5: It represented the brutal expansionism that the United States adopted
- 1:46:43Speaker 5: during the period with the Western expansion.
- 1:46:45Speaker 2: I'm going to switch to Hateful Eight just to spite Nick.
- 1:46:47Speaker 4: That's fine.
- 1:46:50Speaker 5: I'm choosing Ex Machina just to spite her now. This
- 1:46:53Speaker 5: is how our relationship works. It's an offensive, counter-offensive relationship.
- 1:47:00Speaker 4: This is the sort of horrible treatment that goes on
- 1:47:04Speaker 4: behind closed doors. I pretended like we were coming over
- 1:47:08Speaker 4: here for the Oscars, but really it's an expose on
- 1:47:10Speaker 4: the mistreatment of dogs. You guys, you ready to go
- 1:47:16Speaker 4: talk to our Special reporters. Come clean on all the
- 1:47:21Speaker 4: details going on here.
- 1:47:22Speaker 2: I mean, if it's played by Mark Ruffalo, I'll be
- 1:47:25Speaker 2: right downstairs.
- 1:47:26Speaker 4: Wait a minute. Maybe I will be, too. Hulk is cool.
- 1:47:33Speaker 2: My lady is Jessica Chastain.
- 1:47:35Speaker 5: She's got bold eyeballs.
- 1:47:37Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:47:39Speaker 4: No. No eye patch?
- 1:47:41Speaker 3: Her eyes are way too intense for me, though.
- 1:47:43Speaker 5: She reminds me of these dolls that my mom had
- 1:47:46Speaker 5: up in the closet. Like that I would see rarely.
- 1:47:57Speaker 5: All this dead air is going to end up in
- 1:47:59Speaker 5: the podcast.
- 1:48:00Speaker 4: I'm leaving all that in. I'm taking all that bullshit
- 1:48:02Speaker 4: out we said. That dead air is priceless.
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: On behalf of the Warner Brothers sound department, I thank
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: you very much.
- 1:48:12Speaker 4: This episode is a production of Movie Meltdown. Produced and
- 1:48:15Speaker 4: edited by The Oddity Studios. with opening music performed by
- 1:48:18Speaker 4: the Empires.
