- 0:03Speaker 1: Oh, hey, it's Bron Kratz and the Pope at the
- 0:08Speaker 1: top of the show.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Hey, listen, listen, let me explain something to y'all. Scott,
- 0:15Speaker 2: welcome back.
- 0:16Speaker 3: You and Producer Lady from your vacation and overseas together.
- 0:19Speaker 3: It was nice of you guys to make an appearance today.
- 0:22Speaker 3: If my Ben MGM locks don't happen, then it's Producer
- 0:25Speaker 3: Lady's fault because.
- 0:25Speaker 4: I've got my 12 hour vacations that I take.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Yeah, 12 hours.
- 0:29Speaker 4: Nice.
- 0:30Speaker 2: You flew across the seas and then flew back to
- 0:32Speaker 2: the seas. So it was nice.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Producer lady said, do you want to have lunch? And
- 0:37Speaker 1: I was like, sure, I'll pop over. And then I'm back.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Perfect.
- 0:40Speaker 3: By the way, did you all really think the White
- 0:42Speaker 3: Sox were going to lose on the Pope's birthday? Y'all
- 0:45Speaker 3: better recognize.
- 0:47Speaker 4: Was it the Pope's birthday yesterday?
- 0:49Speaker 2: Yesterday it was. Yes, it was.
- 0:50Speaker 5: AJ was so nervous during the show. He had to
- 0:54Speaker 5: explain to us why it would have been a failure
- 0:57Speaker 5: if the White Sox missed the playoffs.
- 0:59Speaker 2: And then he had it.
- 1:00Speaker 5: He had to mansplain them to beat the Guardians who
- 1:04Speaker 5: score so many runs.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Well, this will be a fun show for you. Scott,
- 1:12Speaker 2: I don't know if you.
- 1:12Speaker 4: I didn't miss anything.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Nope, I catch every second of every show.
- 1:16Speaker 4: Yes, oh, I did.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I've been taking some shit online from numerous people.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Some people have my back. Some people don't understand what
- 1:23Speaker 2: I'm saying. But let me say this.
- 1:24Speaker 3: The players are busting their asses. The coaches are busting
- 1:26Speaker 3: their asses. And everyone is busting their ass as a
- 1:29Speaker 3: White Sox to get to the postseason, okay? It's not
- 1:32Speaker 3: a knock on anybody personal in the organization. What it is,
- 1:35Speaker 3: is as a player, and I have told people, they
- 1:39Speaker 3: know who they are, if you don't win the World
- 1:41Speaker 3: Series as a player, that is, I'm sorry, it's cool
- 1:44Speaker 3: that you were expected to lose 100 games, right? But
- 1:48Speaker 3: then the expectations change, Scott, over time. If you get
- 1:52Speaker 3: to first place, and you're nine games over first place
- 1:55Speaker 3: late into August, and you have a 3-4 game lead,
- 1:59Speaker 3: you know what you then try to do? You try
- 2:01Speaker 3: to get to the postseason. It's not just like... Man,
- 2:04Speaker 3: it was cool, guys. We almost got there. Maybe next year.
- 2:07Speaker 2: No, it sucks.
- 2:09Speaker 3: Because your goal, and if you ask these players, their
- 2:10Speaker 3: goal is to win the division. And you ask the
- 2:12Speaker 3: coaches and get to the playoffs and make a deep run.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Because honestly, I think if they get there and they're
- 2:17Speaker 3: the two seed, you know what they could have? They
- 2:20Speaker 3: could get at least to the LCS and have an
- 2:21Speaker 3: outside shot at going to the World Series. Every year,
- 2:24Speaker 3: if you're a player, I'll take that. Because the ultimate
- 2:27Speaker 3: goal as a player and as a person that plays
- 2:29Speaker 3: this for a living is to get to the World
- 2:31Speaker 3: Series and to win the World Series. Every year I
- 2:33Speaker 3: took the field Kratz, am I wrong? My goal was
- 2:35Speaker 3: to get to the World Series and try to win
- 2:36Speaker 3: the World Series.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Couldn't agree more.
- 2:40Speaker 4: Well, sometimes it's about the marathon, not the race. There
- 2:43Speaker 4: are some people who benefit from five-year plans. I want
- 2:47Speaker 4: to save some of this juice, though. Wait, AJ.
- 2:49Speaker 2: That's my question.
- 2:49Speaker 4: Can we do it during charge? Can we do it
- 2:51Speaker 4: during charge?
- 2:52Speaker 2: Yeah, we can run the graphic and then we can
- 2:53Speaker 2: talk about it. But I have a question for everybody.
- 2:56Speaker 6: Okay.
- 3:03Speaker 2: All right.
- 3:03Speaker 3: So here's my question for you, too, and for people
- 3:05Speaker 3: out there watching, too. When did fans and people become
- 3:08Speaker 3: so conditioned by GM speak, front office speak, radio talk speak,
- 3:13Speaker 3: podcast speak, MLB speak, daily announcer speak that, hey, guys,
- 3:18Speaker 3: we improved. So that's just a better year. Like we're
- 3:21Speaker 3: we don't really want to win. We just want to
- 3:23Speaker 3: get incrementally better. It's OK if we never win the
- 3:26Speaker 3: World Series. We'll just keep incrementally getting a little bit better.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Because I remember back in the day when I was
- 3:32Speaker 3: a fan, I grew up a Braves fan, okay? Braves
- 3:35Speaker 3: didn't win all those World Series. They won in 95, right?
- 3:38Speaker 3: But for all those years, they went to the playoffs,
- 3:40Speaker 3: went to the playoffs, went to the playoffs, never won.
- 3:42Speaker 3: You're like, crap, another wasted year with all these great players, right?
- 3:46Speaker 3: But back then, Bobby Cox and Jaron Sherholtz were like, man,
- 3:49Speaker 3: we had a great year. We didn't win the World Series.
- 3:51Speaker 3: They're like, we had one really great year, and that
- 3:53Speaker 3: was 95 when we won. When has fans and people
- 3:57Speaker 3: become so I don't even know what the right word is.
- 4:01Speaker 3: I don't want to say brainwashing. That's not right. Indoctrinated to, hey,
- 4:04Speaker 3: we're going to listen to the organization. If they say
- 4:06Speaker 3: we had a better year, then gosh darn it, we
- 4:08Speaker 3: had a better year. Now we have six prospects instead
- 4:11Speaker 3: of four prospects.
- 4:13Speaker 5: Fan is short for fanatic. You're supposed to think crazy.
- 4:18Speaker 5: Our team couldn't win it. I'm a Rockies fan. Our
- 4:21Speaker 5: team can win it. I'm an A's fan. That's the
- 4:24Speaker 5: fanatic part of it. You spend a lot of time.
- 4:27Speaker 5: Your question was, when did we start to believe that?
- 4:30Speaker 5: When did that indoctrination start? Brainwashing start? Whenever the first
- 4:35Speaker 5: rebuild was. Whenever their first documented team, and I live
- 4:39Speaker 5: here in Philly, so the process with the Sixers, I
- 4:43Speaker 5: remember thinking about it like, I'm no longer a Sixers fan.
- 4:46Speaker 5: That sounds terrible. Like, trust the process. I know there
- 4:51Speaker 5: was rebuilds before that, but ever since organizations started to rebuild,
- 4:57Speaker 5: everybody's good with getting a trophy. And I'm just talking
- 5:02Speaker 5: in general. I'm not talking necessarily about the White Sox.
- 5:05Speaker 5: I'm talking in general. And so I think that's when
- 5:07Speaker 5: it started.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Sustainability, that's a big word to me. I think it
- 5:11Speaker 1: started around Moneyball, right? You started telling people that there's
- 5:15Speaker 1: more to the story than, wins and losses in the
- 5:18Speaker 1: way that you're evaluating talent.
- 5:20Speaker 4: And it's fine to update with the times. We go
- 5:22Speaker 4: over plenty of.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Advanced statistics and stat casts and all of that. You
- 5:26Speaker 1: guys played and you were catchers. You guys were smart
- 5:28Speaker 1: dudes in the sport for a long period of time.
- 5:31Speaker 4: I'm with you though. The amount of times that fan comments.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Appear to be worried about the five-year plan versus where
- 5:40Speaker 1: are we at right now does get concerning, right?
- 5:44Speaker 4: For every time that.
- 5:45Speaker 1: We look at PCA being traded to the Cubs from
- 5:49Speaker 1: the Mets and say, I can't believe the Mets did that.
- 5:51Speaker 4: There are 1,000 trades where it does not matter at all.
- 5:54Speaker 4: So let's keep that in mind.
- 5:56Speaker 1: And this point's going to be spun into the White
- 5:59Speaker 1: Sox because I do want to get to the American
- 6:00Speaker 1: League Central and how the White Sox were in control
- 6:03Speaker 1: for a good chunk of the season, especially in the
- 6:06Speaker 1: second half, right? They've been in control here. Now they
- 6:09Speaker 1: do have a two and a half game lead. And
- 6:11Speaker 1: I'm saying two and a half because they won the
- 6:13Speaker 1: season series. So that becomes a big deal for them.
- 6:16Speaker 1: If the Guardians end up tying them, they still lose
- 6:19Speaker 1: that spot for the division crown. But playing to your point, AJ,
- 6:22Speaker 1: I'm imagining you ask this question because the White Sox,
- 6:27Speaker 1: as a fan base, might be looking at this season going, wow,
- 6:31Speaker 1: we did it.
- 6:31Speaker 4: This is great.
- 6:32Speaker 1: And more fans should be looking at this saying, wait,
- 6:34Speaker 1: hold up. We need to make the playoffs. Otherwise, if
- 6:38Speaker 1: we turn into a collapse and fall out of it,
- 6:40Speaker 1: it's not a success. I will say if the White
- 6:42Speaker 1: Sox somehow don't win the division, I think they will.
- 6:44Speaker 1: But if they don't win the division and they make
- 6:46Speaker 1: the playoffs, I would still say it's a success. Getting
- 6:48Speaker 1: into October in any form, success. Missing October at this point,
- 6:52Speaker 1: if you're the White Sox and you did everything you
- 6:54Speaker 1: did and you did do the scrap it down, tear
- 6:56Speaker 1: down for a long time and your trade deadline was
- 6:58Speaker 1: not great, including a Luis Castillo trade, that's really not
- 7:01Speaker 1: looking good. then I would say it was a failure.
- 7:04Speaker 1: So I'm with you here.
- 7:05Speaker 4: It's playoffs or bust at this point.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Yeah, and by the way, Justin, on YouTube, shush. Because
- 7:11Speaker 2: you didn't listen to what I said yesterday.
- 7:13Speaker 3: I said that they were going to make the playoffs,
- 7:15Speaker 3: and I believed it. And then I also said that
- 7:18Speaker 3: when he's like, you said they don't develop players. No,
- 7:22Speaker 3: I said that most of their guys in their lineup,
- 7:25Speaker 3: other than Colson Montgomery, were traded for.
- 7:28Speaker 2: They all were traded for. Go through the lineup. Were they?
- 7:30Speaker 3: Murakami traded for Murakami, Japan. Teal traded for. My draw
- 7:34Speaker 3: traded for.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Where else do we go? Tristan Peters traded for. Ben Attendee,
- 7:39Speaker 2: free agent. Who else?
- 7:40Speaker 3: I mean, go through their lineup. Braden Montgomery traded for. Okay,
- 7:44Speaker 3: they've developed some pitchers. Yes, I'll give them credit for that.
- 7:46Speaker 3: They have developed the crap out of some pitchers. But
- 7:48Speaker 3: as far as hitters go, they're all from other organizations
- 7:51Speaker 3: that they made trade for. Has Chris Getz made some
- 7:53Speaker 3: great trades?
- 7:54Speaker 2: 100%. Will I give Chris Getz credit for making trades? 100%.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Has Chris Getz done a good job?
- 8:00Speaker 4: Yes.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Has he done a great job? No.
- 8:01Speaker 3: Check back if he wins a World Series. Then you've
- 8:03Speaker 3: done a great job. Has Chris Getz In the front office,
- 8:06Speaker 3: Barfield and the rest of them deserve credit? A million percent. Okay, well,
- 8:10Speaker 3: I eat crow and people say, oh, you don't like
- 8:12Speaker 3: Chris Goetz.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Not true.
- 8:13Speaker 3: I like Chris Goetz, and I think he's done a
- 8:15Speaker 3: good job with what he's been handed and how he's
- 8:17Speaker 3: done it. Do I like Jerry Reinsdorf?
- 8:18Speaker 2: 100%. Do I love the White Sox? Yes. Do I
- 8:20Speaker 2: root for the White Sox? Yes. Do I think they'll
- 8:22Speaker 2: make the postseason and win the division? 100% yes.
- 8:25Speaker 3: So all you people that are saying that I don't
- 8:27Speaker 3: like the White Sox and I'm anti-White Sox, you know
- 8:30Speaker 3: where you can go, okay? There's an old WWE saying
- 8:33Speaker 3: that has two words, and you know what I mean. So, okay,
- 8:36Speaker 3: so let's stop that. What I'm saying is because of
- 8:39Speaker 3: where they were less than two weeks ago, if they
- 8:42Speaker 3: don't make the postseason, it is a failure.
- 8:44Speaker 2: I'm sorry. Yes, it's nice that they took the next step.
- 8:47Speaker 3: They didn't lose 100 games, but it's not what you
- 8:50Speaker 3: play for and it's not what you're there for as
- 8:52Speaker 3: a player.
- 8:53Speaker 2: I'm speaking as a player.
- 8:54Speaker 3: Sorry, I wanted, in whatever year I was in, 2001,
- 8:58Speaker 3: we had a lead on the Indians at the time,
- 9:00Speaker 3: the Guardians.
- 9:01Speaker 2: We didn't finish it off as twins. It was a failure.
- 9:03Speaker 3: 2012, we had a lead as a team. We didn't
- 9:06Speaker 3: finish it off. It was a failure. Okay, 2006, we
- 9:09Speaker 3: won 90 games. Didn't make the postseason.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Failure.
- 9:11Speaker 3: 2004, I was with the Giants. We won 90-plus games.
- 9:14Speaker 3: Didn't make the postseason.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Failure. Sorry.
- 9:17Speaker 3: That's the way I look at it. If you have
- 9:18Speaker 3: another opinion, I'm sorry. But are the White Sox going
- 9:21Speaker 3: to make it?
- 9:22Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Hey, today's episode is presented by the ASPCA Pet Health
- 9:27Speaker 1: Insurance Program.
- 9:28Speaker 4: Crats, we love our pups.
- 9:31Speaker 5: Yes, I love my mini golden doodle, Bella. But you
- 9:34Speaker 5: can't miss this opportunity, just like Bella misses the ball
- 9:38Speaker 5: when you bounce it to her.
- 9:39Speaker 4: Bella, you're almost there.
- 9:41Speaker 1: The ASPCA Pet Health Insurance Program offers customizable accident and
- 9:45Speaker 1: illness plans that can fit your budget, your lifestyle, and

- 10:21Speaker 1: insurer and is not engaged in the business of insurance.
- 10:25Speaker 4: Nice. And this is a situation.
- 10:30Speaker 3: And by the way, Tristan Peters, you had one of
- 10:32Speaker 3: the best at-bats I've ever seen in my life yesterday.
- 10:34Speaker 3: That was an unbelievable at-bat. And Gavin Williams threw everything
- 10:37Speaker 3: he had at you.
- 10:38Speaker 2: And you know what? Tristan Peters, fellow Savannah Banana, you
- 10:42Speaker 2: might have saved their season on that one at-bat. So
- 10:44Speaker 2: F you.
- 10:46Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah.
- 10:46Speaker 1: I mean, that at bat, leading to six runs, leading
- 10:49Speaker 1: to a 7-3 win for the White Sox, and leading
- 10:52Speaker 1: to the season series being clinched, which is huge. You
- 10:55Speaker 1: get basically two games out of one in that win
- 10:58Speaker 1: in the series. One thing, then we'll jump back into
- 11:00Speaker 1: this series. All you need to do is look at
- 11:02Speaker 1: the Orioles. They tanked, scrapped it down, rebuilt. This is
- 11:06Speaker 1: almost a decade ago at this point that they did
- 11:08Speaker 1: all of.
- 11:08Speaker 4: This, okay? It was five years of absolute sludge, crap,
- 11:12Speaker 4: no one showing up to games, all of that, right?
- 11:15Speaker 1: Was it worth it? And the answer is no. Right now,
- 11:17Speaker 1: the answer is no. Five years of complete abyss where
- 11:21Speaker 1: you look like a minor league team, and now what
- 11:23Speaker 1: did you get out of it? You had one really
- 11:25Speaker 1: magical season that still ended with no playoff wins, right?
- 11:29Speaker 1: What was that, 2023? And now they're scrapping and clawing
- 11:32Speaker 1: and can't even get back into the postseason. So they
- 11:35Speaker 1: did a better job this past offseason than the prior offseason,
- 11:38Speaker 1: but the point is the overall five now becoming 10-year
- 11:42Speaker 1: plan is not as rosy as it appears. And your
- 11:45Speaker 1: winning window often shows up earlier and ends earlier than
- 11:49Speaker 1: you anticipate. So with all of that being said, that
- 11:53Speaker 1: is where the stakes rise. And that's what's going on
- 11:56Speaker 1: right now.
- 11:56Speaker 2: It's a good thing. By the way, it's a good
- 11:59Speaker 2: thing if your window opens earlier than you thought. Because
- 12:02Speaker 2: you know what? That means your players might be better
- 12:05Speaker 2: than you thought at the time. So that is a
- 12:07Speaker 2: good thing. Pressure is a privilege. You can't explain.
- 12:10Speaker 3: Pressure and wanting to win and the desire to win
- 12:13Speaker 3: is a good thing, Krauts. When you're on a crappy team,
- 12:15Speaker 3: it sucks going into the year.
- 12:17Speaker 2: We suck.
- 12:18Speaker 3: But when you go into a season, man, we have
- 12:19Speaker 3: a chance. Listen, when I was in 2001, okay? Twins,
- 12:23Speaker 3: they were the laughingstock of baseball. We got like 500
- 12:25Speaker 3: fans a game. 2001, we didn't make the playoffs, but
- 12:29Speaker 3: we had a really good year.
- 12:30Speaker 2: We were in it.
- 12:31Speaker 3: Whatever happened, we lost. We didn't finish it off, right?
- 12:34Speaker 3: The next year, 2002, guess what? We came into the
- 12:36Speaker 3: season saying, we have to win the division or it's
- 12:38Speaker 3: a waste. We won the division, lost in the LCS
- 12:40Speaker 3: to Angels, went on to win the World Series, tip
- 12:42Speaker 3: my hat to the Angels, okay? Adam Kennedy, three home
- 12:45Speaker 3: runs in a game, never thought I'd see it.
- 12:46Speaker 2: What a game for him, okay?
- 12:49Speaker 7: But.
- 12:51Speaker 3: Going into 2001, nobody believed in us. In our room,
- 12:54Speaker 3: we believed that we could get to the postseason.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Did it happen?
- 12:56Speaker 7: No.
- 12:57Speaker 2: But that's okay.
- 12:57Speaker 3: This year, 2026, White Sox went into the season saying, hey, guys,
- 13:01Speaker 3: we actually have a chance.
- 13:02Speaker 2: And you heard it all spring training. You heard it
- 13:03Speaker 2: early in the year. What did they do?
- 13:05Speaker 3: They jumped out to lead. They've had to lead pretty
- 13:07Speaker 3: much the entire season on the entire division. If you
- 13:10Speaker 3: don't finish it off, I'm sorry.
- 13:11Speaker 2: It sucks.
- 13:14Speaker 4: I'm with you.
- 13:15Speaker 1: And, yes, the starting pitching in the second half has
- 13:17Speaker 1: been a problem. I know they've done a nice job
- 13:19Speaker 1: developing teams.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Some pitching.
- 13:21Speaker 3: Listen, Sean Burr pitched great last night. Davis Martin has
- 13:24Speaker 3: had his ups and downs, right? But they brought in
- 13:25Speaker 3: Anthony Kaye. He's been a solid guy for them, right?
- 13:28Speaker 3: Sean Newcomb's been a godsend, as Josh from Sox Machine
- 13:31Speaker 3: said yesterday, right? The back end of their bullpen, they've
- 13:33Speaker 3: developed some bullpen arms, lefties and righties, Taylor, right? Some
- 13:37Speaker 3: of these guys have done a really nice job. So
- 13:39Speaker 3: let's not lose the fact that they have done a
- 13:41Speaker 3: nice job when it comes to developing some pitchers and
- 13:44Speaker 3: finding some guys that can do some stuff. Now, did
- 13:46Speaker 3: they do a good job of the trade deadline? They
- 13:48Speaker 3: didn't trade away any of their big prospects. Now, is
- 13:50Speaker 3: Luis Castillo.
- 13:51Speaker 2: Going to help?
- 13:53Speaker 3: Maybe, but not, I mean, I don't know, 20, they're
- 13:55Speaker 3: eating all of his salary this year and next year.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Sorry.
- 13:57Speaker 3: Anyways, and then, you know, some of the other guys,
- 13:59Speaker 3: Joey Barca in the hand, not his fault, right? But
- 14:01Speaker 3: Brenton Doyle hasn't done anything for him. So, yes, did
- 14:04Speaker 3: they give up the farm? No, but that's fine. They're
- 14:07Speaker 3: still going to probably win this division and go to
- 14:09Speaker 3: the postseason. That's a success.
- 14:11Speaker 4: Yep, it is.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Let's show the full screen, the graphic of the 18 pitches, too,
- 14:16Speaker 1: to give props to Tristan Peters here.
- 14:18Speaker 4: And I'm with you as we're talking about this.
- 14:20Speaker 1: Cleveland has had times where they've looked– like the best
- 14:23Speaker 1: team in the division and they don't really push the
- 14:24Speaker 1: chips in last year. I think it was a quantity
- 14:26Speaker 1: over quality trade deadline for the tigers thinking, Oh, we'll
- 14:29Speaker 1: just look to next year.
- 14:30Speaker 4: It's always looking to next year.
- 14:31Speaker 1: So that's all you got to appreciate the passion for
- 14:34Speaker 1: somebody that wants to see a team really push it
- 14:37Speaker 1: in when they have a chance during the trade deadline,
- 14:39Speaker 1: the white Sox are still in a good position. So
- 14:41Speaker 1: white Sox fans should be thrilled Cleveland fans. You still
- 14:44Speaker 1: have a team that's in wild card position, despite the
- 14:46Speaker 1: loss here, the blue Jays lost. We can talk about
- 14:48Speaker 1: that later, but that's a.
- 14:49Speaker 4: Lot of pitches. 18 to be exact, the tweet from
- 14:51Speaker 4: Mike Petriello. Look at this, AJ. This is impressive. Imagine
- 14:54Speaker 4: if you're catching this. You're like, damn, I don't know
- 14:56Speaker 4: what to do. Eventually, it's not giving up, but, you know,
- 14:59Speaker 4: curveball didn't land in the zone, and you're like, all right, uncle.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Yeah, it was a great at bat, man. Tristan Peters, dude,
- 15:05Speaker 2: I tip my cat. That was a hell of a bat.
- 15:07Speaker 3: Even I was watching the Guardians broadcast, and they were like,
- 15:09Speaker 3: this is one of the best at bats I've ever seen.
- 15:11Speaker 3: I mean, he was throwing cutters. He was throwing curveballs,
- 15:14Speaker 3: high fastballs at 98. And you know Gavin Williams' big
- 15:17Speaker 3: rig was just emptying the tank on this. Tristan Peters, man. kudos, cookies,
- 15:22Speaker 3: whatever you flowers, whatever you give people.
- 15:24Speaker 2: Congratulations, man. That was one hell of one of the
- 15:26Speaker 2: best at bats I've ever seen in a huge situation.
- 15:30Speaker 4: Yep. So it continues to be following it. Yeah.
- 15:33Speaker 5: I think about, obviously we don't see at bats like this,
- 15:36Speaker 5: but around that same time, if you're following other games
- 15:39Speaker 5: around that same time, Kazuma Akamoto for the blue Jays
- 15:44Speaker 5: was coming up and hits a three run Homer. I'm
- 15:47Speaker 5: not saying that a fifth inning at bat, can change
- 15:50Speaker 5: a season. But the fact that Tristan Peters was down,
- 15:55Speaker 5: he got ball one, and then he was down one-two
- 15:59Speaker 5: for the majority of the at-bat. And it would have
- 16:03Speaker 5: looked like maybe Gavin Williams maybe gets out of the inning.
- 16:05Speaker 5: Maybe he even gets a second out in the fifth inning.
- 16:10Speaker 5: And Okamoto hits the home run. The Blue Jays are
- 16:13Speaker 5: winning and all happening at the same time. And it
- 16:16Speaker 5: was like it completely flipped on that at bat. The
- 16:19Speaker 5: Blue Jays do end up losing that game. The White Sox,
- 16:23Speaker 5: because before had they lost that game, they would have
- 16:26Speaker 5: been worried about the Guardians. They would have been worried
- 16:28Speaker 5: about the Blue Jays. It would have just changed so significantly.
- 16:32Speaker 5: And now there's one less game to play this year.
- 16:35Speaker 4: There you go.
- 16:37Speaker 1: And it was the longest A-B pitch-wise since Matt Wieters,
- 16:41Speaker 1: talking about Tristan Peters.
- 16:43Speaker 4: Matt Wieters in 2020 had a 19-pitch battle.
- 16:47Speaker 1: But that will be one of the defining moments of
- 16:49Speaker 1: the season for the White Sox if they are postseason
- 16:51Speaker 1: bound and this series continues. Let's get to some other
- 16:55Speaker 1: fun stuff after we talk about Sox Machine, which is
- 16:58Speaker 1: on every day this week, by the way.
- 17:00Speaker 4: They have shows.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Some of them are morning shows that kind of lead
- 17:03Speaker 1: right into what we're doing. So if you are a
- 17:05Speaker 1: Sox fan and you want to see more, head over
- 17:06Speaker 1: to their YouTube channel. Great rant from AJ. Also, AJ,
- 17:11Speaker 1: they're rolling out a lot of openers there. the white
- 17:13Speaker 1: socks right now but in this case it seems like
- 17:16Speaker 1: you got to do what you got to do right
- 17:18Speaker 1: it's working so if you can't do in this case
- 17:21Speaker 1: yeah you.
- 17:22Speaker 3: Can't pitch first inning you Sean Newcomb get those first
- 17:24Speaker 3: three outs then bring Sean Burke who was really good
- 17:26Speaker 3: after that if that's what it takes early in his
- 17:29Speaker 3: career to figure out how to be a big league
- 17:30Speaker 3: pitcher because for about a month there he was one
- 17:32Speaker 3: of the best pitchers in baseball July and August he
- 17:35Speaker 3: was really good right Same with Davis Martin.
- 17:38Speaker 2: Davis Martin lost it. They started using an opener. He's
- 17:40Speaker 2: been better.
- 17:40Speaker 3: Now Sean Burke, they're using the opener. He pitched really
- 17:43Speaker 3: well last night. So if it works, do it. I
- 17:45Speaker 3: don't have a problem with it.
- 17:46Speaker 2: If it works, do it. Just over the long haul,
- 17:48Speaker 2: it's hard to sustain for a long time. But if
- 17:51Speaker 2: it works and it helps him get better, do it.
- 17:53Speaker 2: I'm all for it.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Also, Kratz, big difference between that and the Rockies never
- 17:58Speaker 1: being in it, having Chase Dolander, who's throwing heat and
- 18:02Speaker 1: has just gotten into his career, and you're throwing openers
- 18:04Speaker 1: on him.
- 18:05Speaker 4: That is not it.
- 18:07Speaker 5: My only question was yesterday I asked Josh from Sox Machine, like,
- 18:11Speaker 5: does that solve it? Well, last night showed me that
- 18:14Speaker 5: solved it. Like, it helped him out of that first inning.
- 18:17Speaker 5: Can he not face the top of the order? No,
- 18:20Speaker 5: that's not what it is. Maybe it's something about his warm-up.
- 18:22Speaker 5: Maybe he doesn't need as much warm-up. Like, you have
- 18:26Speaker 5: to be able to ask these questions when your team
- 18:28Speaker 5: is winning. When the Rockies are losing, Dolander better be
- 18:31Speaker 5: the starting pitcher to for the next six years and
- 18:34Speaker 5: him get every one of those GS games started.
- 18:38Speaker 4: I'm with you.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Hey, real quick pop to a foul territory shop.com. I
- 18:43Speaker 1: like the LMBP shirt that AJ has. Jim Bowden said
- 18:48Speaker 1: it's a wrap. Hey, we'll have plenty of time in
- 18:53Speaker 1: the off season to talk about free agency. Pitching is
- 18:55Speaker 1: definitely better than position players in the group this year,
- 18:57Speaker 1: but jazz Chisholm will be a free agent after the season.
- 19:00Speaker 4: And he spoke about it yesterday.
- 19:01Speaker 1: He said that, He hasn't spoken to the Yankees since
- 19:04Speaker 1: the spring and also that the Yankees don't really do
- 19:07Speaker 1: extensions and said that when he was asked if he
- 19:10Speaker 1: reached out to Cashman, quote, I wouldn't say reached out
- 19:12Speaker 1: was more of a mutual thing. It was me walking
- 19:14Speaker 1: around saying something to Cashman.
- 19:15Speaker 4: He walked past me.
- 19:16Speaker 1: So really the main point here, Kratz, I mean, you
- 19:19Speaker 1: played for the Yanks. They don't do extensions like this
- 19:21Speaker 1: very often. They let guys go to free agency. It's
- 19:23Speaker 1: just their thing and that's fine.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Yeah, it's totally fine.
- 19:27Speaker 5: I mean, they understand they have to pay extra when
- 19:29Speaker 5: it's free agency and they don't feel like they need
- 19:32Speaker 5: to do extensions. During the COVID season, I asked Cashman,
- 19:36Speaker 5: I just reached free agency. We were in San Diego
- 19:39Speaker 5: and I said, you do realize that I just reached
- 19:42Speaker 5: big league free agency. What are the chances you are
- 19:46Speaker 5: going to extend me a qualifying offer? He was like,
- 19:50Speaker 5: it's not completely off the table. I said, I'll settle
- 19:53Speaker 5: for less.
- 19:56Speaker 4: That was the back and forth you guys had in the.
- 19:58Speaker 5: Lunchroom in San Diego, which was like the concourse of
- 20:02Speaker 5: San Diego.
- 20:03Speaker 2: Cause it was COVID.
- 20:05Speaker 3: Oh, I was going to say small lunchroom in San
- 20:07Speaker 3: Diego in the clubhouse, so that would have been a
- 20:09Speaker 3: tight call.
- 20:10Speaker 6: No, no, no.
- 20:10Speaker 5: It could have been some other people that would have
- 20:11Speaker 5: heard it. COVID, we weren't allowed to. It was only
- 20:14Speaker 5: me and him. I was eating my soggy salad before
- 20:17Speaker 5: the game, my yogurt and granola.
- 20:22Speaker 4: All right, TV crowd is in break.
- 20:23Speaker 1: We're talking about SeatGeek games that you can grab a
- 20:26Speaker 1: ticket to over the next couple weeks to round out
- 20:28Speaker 1: the regular season. This might be your last chance to
- 20:30Speaker 1: watch a team that does not make the playoffs. We're
- 20:32Speaker 1: about to talk about the Diamondbacks. They might be in
- 20:34Speaker 1: that spot as their two-and-a-half games back of the Padres.
- 20:36Speaker 4: But right now, AJ, I wanted to start with the Rangers.
- 20:39Speaker 1: I don't feel like we've talked about the Rangers enough,
- 20:43Speaker 1: and they're one game back of the Astros.
- 20:47Speaker 2: We had Evan Grant on yesterday, Kevin. Scott, didn't you watch?
- 20:50Speaker 4: No, I'm not talking about just yesterday. I'm talking about
- 20:52Speaker 4: the entire season.
- 20:53Speaker 1: I remember that one of the themes has been, I
- 20:56Speaker 1: feel like the Rangers, I feel like the Rangers have
- 21:03Speaker 1: been one of those teams that doesn't get a lot
- 21:05Speaker 1: of national attention, whether they're good, bad. And yeah, maybe
- 21:09Speaker 1: we've talked about this. Maybe this has to do with like,
- 21:11Speaker 1: there's not a lot of big talkers on that team.
- 21:13Speaker 1: There hasn't been like fights drama, right? Like, DeGrom doesn't
- 21:18Speaker 1: really talk. Seager definitely doesn't talk.
- 21:21Speaker 4: Right, so you're just checking. Is there a pulse? They're
- 21:24Speaker 4: one game back.
- 21:26Speaker 3: They are, and they play the Red Sox the next
- 21:27Speaker 3: three games, so this is going to be a big
- 21:29Speaker 3: series for them. And if you listened to our interview
- 21:31Speaker 3: yesterday with Evan Grant, he'll tell you that they really
- 21:33Speaker 3: need to step it up at home because nine of
- 21:35Speaker 3: their last 12 games are at home, Scott. So if
- 21:38Speaker 3: you're in the Dallas area, the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, You
- 21:42Speaker 3: should go on SeatGeek and get tickets and go root
- 21:44Speaker 3: for your Rangers in Arlington and try to get them
- 21:47Speaker 3: to the postseason because they need all the support they
- 21:49Speaker 3: can get.
- 21:50Speaker 1: Kratz, I was distracted because for the interview, all I
- 21:53Speaker 1: could think of when I was trying to think of
- 21:55Speaker 1: what my favorite part of the interview was yesterday is
- 21:57Speaker 1: that AJ started it with some type of line along
- 22:00Speaker 1: the lines of, oh, you don't have any food on
- 22:04Speaker 1: your face or something like that.
- 22:05Speaker 5: There's no food dripping down your face, Evan. And Evan
- 22:08Speaker 5: was like, wow, thanks, AJ. Good to see you too.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Oh, he actually asked a key question. He goes, does
- 22:16Speaker 1: anyone get picked on more than me? And you guys
- 22:17Speaker 1: immediately were both like, yes, Ken Rosenthal. And I think
- 22:20Speaker 1: that made him feel better.
- 22:21Speaker 2: No, I said Katie Wu.
- 22:24Speaker 5: I said Katie Wu gets picked on by AJ.
- 22:26Speaker 4: Oh, you're right.
- 22:26Speaker 2: You said Katie.
- 22:28Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Either way, we've talked about him enough.
- 22:31Speaker 5: The Rangers, the entire AOS, you need to buy your
- 22:34Speaker 5: tickets to watch them because you're going to plug in
- 22:37Speaker 5: on SeatGeek, you're going to plug in Pillow Fight. That's
- 22:39Speaker 5: what the Rangers are doing.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Catch your favorite pillow fight on SeatGeek with code TERRITORY10
- 22:46Speaker 1: for 10% off MLB tickets. Make sure you click the
- 22:49Speaker 1: link in the description to download the app. Then you
- 22:51Speaker 1: get the code automatically added to your account. You can
- 22:54Speaker 1: watch real baseball called a pillow fight in the AL
- 22:57Speaker 1: wildcard race along with.
- 22:58Speaker 4: The AL West. That's what she said.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what he said, presented by Lorraine Co. We
- 23:09Speaker 1: have Pete Alonzo returning to Queens, and the place was
- 23:13Speaker 1: lit up for him. Mets fans were there early, cheering
- 23:18Speaker 1: for him, making sure that it was well known, he
- 23:21Speaker 1: was appreciated, he will always be welcomed back.
- 23:25Speaker 4: And they miss him dearly.
- 23:27Speaker 1: You'd have to be a fool to not think that
- 23:29Speaker 1: Pete Alonzo on the 2026 Mets would have made them
- 23:31Speaker 1: a better team than the replacements that they went with.
- 23:34Speaker 1: And also the fact that they spent, what, $ 40 million
- 23:37Speaker 1: on Polanco over two years. Robert ended up costing them $ 15.
- 23:41Speaker 1: I mean, or $ 20 actually, I think it is. No,
- 23:43Speaker 1: $ 15 because they got rid of him. That's almost, what, $ 55- ish.
- 23:46Speaker 4: Million right there.
- 23:48Speaker 1: If the Mets didn't feel like he was worth $ 160
- 23:50Speaker 1: and he was worth $ 110, well, you just wasted it
- 23:52Speaker 1: right there. Anyway, let's get to Pete first and his
- 23:55Speaker 1: comments on if he took what happened with the Mets
- 23:59Speaker 1: personal or not.
- 24:02Speaker 7: No, because like I said before, when you have a
- 24:06Speaker 7: good thing coming and free agency, when you have a
- 24:08Speaker 7: really good opportunity, you have great dialogue, you don't necessarily
- 24:13Speaker 7: want to kind of ruin that.
- 24:15Speaker 2: So for me, it's like I didn't want.
- 24:16Speaker 7: To look anywhere else because Baltimore was putting in a
- 24:21Speaker 7: tremendous effort with dialogue and having conversations. So When you
- 24:26Speaker 7: have something really, really good in front of you, for me,
- 24:29Speaker 7: especially when it comes down to business negotiations, you don't
- 24:32Speaker 7: want to, I guess, kind of look elsewhere.
- 24:36Speaker 2: So for me, when Baltimore came.
- 24:39Speaker 7: They were obviously expressing some serious interest. And for me,
- 24:43Speaker 7: if they're expressing themselves seriously, then I'm going to listen seriously.
- 24:47Speaker 7: And eventually, as it kind of came down the wire, again,
- 24:54Speaker 7: I'm just so happy that Because for me, it's like
- 24:57Speaker 7: I feel like Baltimore's home. Again, I feel so at
- 25:00Speaker 7: home and really just so genuinely happy where it's like
- 25:05Speaker 7: I really see myself in a really good way with
- 25:08Speaker 7: this organization. Hopefully I get to finish my career here
- 25:11Speaker 7: as an Oriole. So, again, I'd be unblessed to be
- 25:14Speaker 7: an Oriole.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Good answer. Good answer.
- 25:19Speaker 3: I mean, listen, he got an awesome ovation last night.
- 25:21Speaker 3: The fans cheered the crap out of him his first at-bat.
- 25:24Speaker 3: He got to do the old doffing. He got to
- 25:25Speaker 3: do the old, Hey, look at me. I'm going to
- 25:27Speaker 3: doff my cap to everybody and let's get down to business.
- 25:30Speaker 3: And I think I was watching, I believe I was
- 25:32Speaker 3: watching the Mets broadcast and when he came up and
- 25:36Speaker 3: I wanted to see his first at bat and they said,
- 25:38Speaker 3: Pete has to be nervous.
- 25:39Speaker 2: A hundred percent.
- 25:39Speaker 3: He was a little bit more nervous, a little bit
- 25:41Speaker 3: more jacked up because it's the first time you played
- 25:43Speaker 3: against a team that basically said, Hey, you know what, Pete,
- 25:45Speaker 3: you're our all time home run leader in our franchise history.
- 25:48Speaker 3: And we're going to let you walk away, which doesn't
- 25:50Speaker 3: happen a whole lot. It did for Pete. And yeah,
- 25:53Speaker 3: Good for him answering it the right way. He loves Baltimore.
- 25:55Speaker 3: I saw him a couple weeks ago. He's happy as
- 25:58Speaker 3: can be in Baltimore. He loves the team he's on,
- 26:00Speaker 3: and he's having an unbelievable year. So good for you, Pete.
- 26:02Speaker 3: It sucks you're not a Met. It sucks you weren't
- 26:05Speaker 3: a Met for life, but you know what? Good for
- 26:07Speaker 3: you for answering the question the right way.
- 26:09Speaker 2: Twice. Twice the Mets.
- 26:11Speaker 5: Really didn't want him back.
- 26:13Speaker 2: Yes, I get it.
- 26:14Speaker 5: They signed him to a one-year deal after his original
- 26:17Speaker 5: time through free agency. But you have to– Pete's talking
- 26:23Speaker 5: about the offseason, and when the Orioles called, he wasn't
- 26:26Speaker 5: going to be like, hey, Mets, somebody's calling.
- 26:29Speaker 2: What are you guys doing?
- 26:31Speaker 5: He really showed what he's showed his whole career, just
- 26:35Speaker 5: respect to the person, to the team that's in front
- 26:37Speaker 5: of him. And I think the fact that he went
- 26:40Speaker 5: through free agency, didn't get the offers that I personally
- 26:45Speaker 5: thought he should have gotten, whether he thought he should
- 26:47Speaker 5: have or not, I would assume he felt a little slighted,
- 26:50Speaker 5: went out and had another great year, And then the
- 26:54Speaker 5: Mets didn't come courting him, didn't come after him like
- 26:58Speaker 5: he probably thinks.
- 27:00Speaker 2: You know what?
- 27:01Speaker 5: That ship sailed. And good for him for saying, you
- 27:04Speaker 5: know what? These guys pursued me. I'm going to go
- 27:06Speaker 5: after him instead of, I'm going to go after them.
- 27:08Speaker 5: And I'm going to see what they want to do
- 27:10Speaker 5: and develop this relationship. And he's going to be beloved
- 27:14Speaker 5: in Baltimore just like he was loved in New York.
- 27:19Speaker 1: Yeah, he's relatable, likable, and he leads the American League
- 27:21Speaker 1: and runs batted in. putting up similar power numbers that
- 27:25Speaker 1: he always does.
- 27:26Speaker 5: He's having a better year based on OPS Plus than
- 27:30Speaker 5: his career average. So if you're sitting there as an
- 27:33Speaker 5: Oriole fan and go, oh, I wonder if this is
- 27:35Speaker 5: worth it, or a Mets fan or a Mets front
- 27:37Speaker 5: office and going, I wonder if he would be worth
- 27:39Speaker 5: it in the first year.
- 27:39Speaker 2: Well, check. Pete Alonzo, well worth it.
- 27:44Speaker 1: AJ, to me, the Mets were treating him like he
- 27:46Speaker 1: was about to become Chris Davis. And ironically, he goes
- 27:50Speaker 1: to the team that paid Chris Davis. and said, no,
- 27:54Speaker 1: you are not going to be Chris Davis post-extension.
- 27:58Speaker 3: Yeah, they treated him the way he wanted to be treated,
- 28:00Speaker 3: which is what he said. They were openly engaging him.
- 28:03Speaker 3: They're telling him, we want you. Listen, a player wants
- 28:05Speaker 3: to hear that they're wanted.
- 28:07Speaker 2: I don't care.
- 28:07Speaker 3: You know, people can say whatever. They want to hear
- 28:09Speaker 3: that they're wanted. And after what he went through last
- 28:11Speaker 3: year and then have to go through it again. And
- 28:13Speaker 3: when Pete said, you know, he told David Stearns, you know,
- 28:15Speaker 3: but I'll be going to the Hall of Fame and
- 28:17Speaker 3: you'll be worried about your stupid formula or whatever.
- 28:18Speaker 2: I forget the exact quote. I know it wasn't the
- 28:20Speaker 2: exact quote. But good for you, Pete, because you know what?
- 28:23Speaker 2: The Orioles wanted you, and you ended up there, and
- 28:25Speaker 2: you're having a kick-ass year, man. Good for you.
- 28:29Speaker 4: Yep, they did the tribute video.
- 28:32Speaker 5: Yeah, there's two ways that you can be shown that
- 28:34Speaker 5: you're wanted. A team tells you you're wanted and gives
- 28:37Speaker 5: you an extension on the team that you're at, or
- 28:40Speaker 5: you go to free agency, and what AJ's saying is
- 28:43Speaker 5: the team that gives you the biggest offer isn't like, well,
- 28:47Speaker 5: we just don't want you to go back to the Mets.
- 28:49Speaker 5: The Orioles could care less about that in free agency
- 28:52Speaker 5: in this situation. Like, they're showing you, and it might
- 28:57Speaker 5: sound vain, it might sound greedy by players, but that's
- 29:00Speaker 5: the way that you're shown that you are wanted and
- 29:02Speaker 5: valued in this game by who gives you the biggest contract,
- 29:06Speaker 5: the longest contract, and good for Pete for rewarding the
- 29:11Speaker 5: Orioles for going out and saying, yes, you are the
- 29:14Speaker 5: guy that we want.
- 29:17Speaker 2: Eric Kratz.
- 29:18Speaker 4: You're smart.
- 29:19Speaker 1: You were a catcher in Major League Baseball for a
- 29:21Speaker 1: long time. You need to be smart to be a catcher.
- 29:23Speaker 1: And you also need to be smart to get the
- 29:25Speaker 1: best possible wireless plan that you can get. Don't fall
- 29:30Speaker 1: for the gimmicks or certain types of sign-up bonuses. Just
- 29:34Speaker 1: give me the cheap rate and the premium wireless.
- 29:38Speaker 5: That's what Mint Mobile gives us. And you don't pay
- 29:41Speaker 5: a lot and you get a lot. Seems like a
- 29:45Speaker 5: no brainer, even for what you said, a smart guy.
- 29:48Speaker 4: Yep, be smart.
- 29:49Speaker 1: Get your new wireless plan for just $ 15 a month.

- 29:58Speaker 4: of $ 45 for three months, $ 90 for six months, or

- 30:18Speaker 1: Francisco Lindor was asked about the replacement situation this year
- 30:22Speaker 1: with Pete and if he was missed.
- 30:25Speaker 6: I mean, you can see the numbers. But at the
- 30:28Speaker 6: end of the day, I thought the guys that we
- 30:30Speaker 6: acquired were going to help us win games.
- 30:32Speaker 4: We just haven't played.
- 30:32Speaker 2: We haven't performed to our best.
- 30:35Speaker 6: So it's one of those that you see him on
- 30:40Speaker 6: the other side, you're like, wow, those are great numbers.
- 30:42Speaker 6: That's Pete Alonso. But at the same time, you look
- 30:46Speaker 6: in our clubhouse and you say the guys that we
- 30:48Speaker 6: have are capable of helping us win ballgames. It's just
- 30:51Speaker 6: we haven't stayed healthy and we haven't put the season together,
- 30:54Speaker 6: you know. So as a person, I do miss him
- 30:58Speaker 6: for sure.
- 30:59Speaker 4: Yeah, he misses him.
- 31:00Speaker 1: And also, I mean, well, you should if in a
- 31:04Speaker 1: real world you would.
- 31:06Speaker 4: Buy the C & T, he goes, yes. We messed up.
- 31:09Speaker 2: Yeah, but what's he supposed to say?
- 31:12Speaker 4: You don't.
- 31:14Speaker 3: Want to bash your teammates that are there now, right?
- 31:17Speaker 3: You don't want to bash Pete. You don't want to
- 31:19Speaker 3: bash the front office. You don't want to bash the fans.
- 31:22Speaker 3: I mean, Francisco nailed it. Again, Pete nailed it with
- 31:25Speaker 3: his comments. Francisco nailed it with his comments, right? Both
- 31:28Speaker 3: of them were very professional. They said what they needed
- 31:31Speaker 3: to say without getting personal and without taking shots at anybody.
- 31:34Speaker 2: I mean, I salute everybody in this situation. It sucks.
- 31:37Speaker 3: I wish Pete, again, would have been a Met his
- 31:39Speaker 3: entire career, just like I hope Francisco Lindor finished his
- 31:42Speaker 3: career as a Met because he's been there for a
- 31:43Speaker 3: long time now. And when he goes to Cooperstown one day,
- 31:46Speaker 3: he's probably going to go in as a Met. Sorry,
- 31:48Speaker 3: Guardian fans, but that's just the way it is. And
- 31:51Speaker 3: I wish more people got the opportunity. It doesn't happen
- 31:53Speaker 3: very often to play one career with one team. And
- 31:56Speaker 3: I wish it happened more, but it doesn't.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Hey, the Orioles would be like 10 games out of
- 32:02Speaker 1: a wild card spot if they didn't have Pete and
- 32:05Speaker 1: what he's been doing for them. They needed that righty thump.
- 32:09Speaker 1: Right-handed thump in the sport right now is at a
- 32:12Speaker 1: premium in general. We bring it up a lot in
- 32:14Speaker 1: the off seasons, right? Remember how coveted Taylor Ward was
- 32:18Speaker 1: last off season and the Orioles actually landed him and
- 32:20Speaker 1: then eventually traded him and he has not performed well
- 32:22Speaker 1: in his new spot. But it's hard right now to
- 32:25Speaker 1: find good right-handed power. And the Orioles have that here
- 32:28Speaker 1: with Pete for a while.
- 32:29Speaker 4: So good for them.
- 32:30Speaker 1: They've been trying to find it with a number of
- 32:32Speaker 1: different bats via trade and signings. And this one's working
- 32:35Speaker 1: for them. So the last part for me is to
- 32:38Speaker 1: just credit the Mets fan base.
- 32:41Speaker 4: They showed up. Actually, most of them, many of them
- 32:44Speaker 4: left after Pete's last at bat. What was that? Eighth
- 32:46Speaker 4: inning tie game. They're like, yeah, we're good. Season's over.
- 32:48Speaker 4: We came for Pete. See, Orioles won the game and
- 32:51Speaker 4: it was a good one. It was close. Gunnar Henderson
- 32:53Speaker 4: laid Homer, but props to Mets fans.
- 32:55Speaker 1: I mean, New York has high expectations as a city.
- 32:59Speaker 4: Mets fans' expectations are different from Yankees fans, no doubt.
- 33:01Speaker 1: But them showing up and selling the place out for
- 33:05Speaker 1: this and giving him all of the ovations and all that,
- 33:08Speaker 1: it's cool.
- 33:09Speaker 4: It was a cool moment. It was a fun game
- 33:10Speaker 4: to watch.
- 33:10Speaker 1: That's why we're talking about the Mets, maybe for the
- 33:12Speaker 1: last time until November.
- 33:14Speaker 2: Jonah Tong fits well. Jonah Tong fits well.
- 33:18Speaker 4: Yeah, Jonah Tong.
- 33:19Speaker 2: Instead of Brandon Young, by the way.
- 33:21Speaker 4: Yes. Yes.
- 33:23Speaker 1: Jonah Tong has had a tough year, actually, in the
- 33:24Speaker 1: minor leagues, giving up a lot of homers. Command hasn't
- 33:26Speaker 1: been good, a lot of walks. But he's working with
- 33:30Speaker 1: the Mets. Mets have a lot of evaluating to do
- 33:31Speaker 1: in the offseason, AJ. Do you see what– we could
- 33:33Speaker 1: do a whole segment maybe next week on what Freddie
- 33:35Speaker 1: Peralta is doing and what they changed with him in
- 33:38Speaker 1: five minutes. To me, if I'm Steve Cohen, I'm pissed
- 33:42Speaker 1: about that.
- 33:42Speaker 4: If I'm the owner of the Mets, I'm like, hold up.
- 33:45Speaker 1: We spent all of this trade– we traded for him,
- 33:48Speaker 1: so we spent up resources and then paying Freddie Peralta.
- 33:51Speaker 4: We trade him away.
- 33:53Speaker 1: He has one bad start where he's obviously just sinking
- 33:55Speaker 1: in with the team five seconds later. Then they start
- 33:57Speaker 1: going over what changes they want. And now he looks
- 33:59Speaker 1: like a number one starter.
- 34:01Speaker 4: What happened?
- 34:03Speaker 5: I promise it wasn't big changes. I know Kyle Snyder.
- 34:06Speaker 5: I've seen the development of pitchers in that organization and
- 34:10Speaker 5: guys switching over. I'm sure it wasn't crazy. It wasn't this, like,
- 34:15Speaker 5: crazy manipulation. We don't know what it is yet. We'll
- 34:19Speaker 5: find out from Freddie P or people around it. But
- 34:22Speaker 5: I'm sure it's not crazy. So, yes, Uncle Stevie has
- 34:26Speaker 5: a big question to ask, and he has a valid
- 34:30Speaker 5: question to ask his on-field coaches.
- 34:35Speaker 2: True.
- 34:37Speaker 3: He's been great. By the way, did you guys see this?
- 34:39Speaker 3: And I don't know if it has to be true
- 34:41Speaker 3: because they said it on TV. Brandon Young, who pitched
- 34:44Speaker 3: for the Orioles last night, has had two Tommy Johns.
- 34:48Speaker 3: Do you know how old he was when he had
- 34:49Speaker 3: his first Tommy John?
- 34:51Speaker 4: I'm going to guess that it's very young. 14, yeah.
- 34:55Speaker 7: 13.
- 34:56Speaker 2: Wow.
- 34:57Speaker 3: I was like, wait, I had to rewind it and
- 35:00Speaker 3: listen to it. He was 13 years old when he
- 35:02Speaker 3: had his first Tommy John.
- 35:03Speaker 2: I was like, whoa, that's crazy.
- 35:05Speaker 4: That is crazy.
- 35:06Speaker 1: That's about as early as it gets there. that's a
- 35:10Speaker 1: whole nother topic too, that we can get.
- 35:11Speaker 2: No, I know.
- 35:11Speaker 6: I know.
- 35:12Speaker 3: It was just, it was just an interesting fact they
- 35:13Speaker 3: brought up on, on the, again, I think I was
- 35:15Speaker 3: watching the Mets broadcast last night.
- 35:17Speaker 2: It was, it was an interesting fact.
- 35:19Speaker 5: Skipping rocks. Torres, TJ Torres, UCL skipping rocks. That's what
- 35:23Speaker 5: I was doing at 13.
- 35:25Speaker 4: Unless he had a youth coach. That's telling them.
- 35:27Speaker 2: All right.
- 35:28Speaker 4: Here's son. One's fastball. Two is slider. Three is curveball.
- 35:32Speaker 4: Four is changing. You never know.
- 35:34Speaker 3: And you know, Scott never played baseball. How do you
- 35:36Speaker 3: know Scott never played baseball, Kratz? That's what he just said.
- 35:38Speaker 4: I'm doing the wrong numbers. Got it.
- 35:40Speaker 2: That was casual. It was casual. I never played.
- 35:45Speaker 1: Wait, but I do have notes to finish this on
- 35:48Speaker 1: Freddy Peralta. Number one, more change-ups, which is a thing
- 35:51Speaker 1: with the Rays in general. Number two, defense is way
- 35:55Speaker 1: better behind him. And number three, he was having problems
- 35:58Speaker 1: with his extension off the mound with the Mets. It
- 36:00Speaker 1: looks like he's fixed that. So that's actually a lot
- 36:03Speaker 1: of fixes in five minutes.
- 36:05Speaker 4: We can do a segment on it.
- 36:06Speaker 2: But the Mets did run prevention all offseason. Remember, run prevention.
- 36:10Speaker 1: Run prevention until I die. Outfield looks good with Ewing
- 36:13Speaker 1: and Bench, but I digress. Let's get to another team
- 36:16Speaker 1: with struggles. The Reds coming up next. But before we
- 36:19Speaker 1: do that, baseball fans, time to lock in. Thanks to
- 36:22Speaker 1: Lorraine Co. for sponsoring That's What He Said. Their remineralizing

- 36:38Speaker 1: at checkout. That gets you 10% off.
- 36:40Speaker 4: Give it a shot.
- 36:41Speaker 1: Hey, this isn't great, although it's been a problem. Reynaldo Lopez,
- 36:44Speaker 1: shoulder discomfort, you know, didn't look good. It looks like
- 36:47Speaker 1: he's going to be done for the year in my mind.
- 36:49Speaker 1: And then JR Richie's going to start Wednesday's game. I mean, Schwellenbach,
- 36:53Speaker 1: you know, hasn't been a thing, obviously, done.
- 36:55Speaker 4: Schreider, done. It's crazy.
- 36:58Speaker 1: Waldrop, how many good arms they have that have gone down, AJ. Yet,
- 37:01Speaker 1: I mean, this is a really good-looking team. Sale, Molly
- 37:04Speaker 1: has looked amazing with them for the most part. Martin
- 37:07Speaker 1: Perez looking really good. Are you worried about their postseason
- 37:10Speaker 1: rotation is my question.
- 37:13Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, I mean, it was Reynaldo Lopez they put
- 37:16Speaker 3: in the bullpen. This is one of the big questions
- 37:18Speaker 3: about Reynaldo Lopez when he went from a reliever to
- 37:21Speaker 3: a starter. Remember, he had some good times and it
- 37:23Speaker 3: was like, oh man, and it was his shoulder, right? Well,
- 37:24Speaker 3: his shoulder is barking again as being a starter. Am
- 37:28Speaker 3: I worried about it? Yeah, it's Chris Sale and then
- 37:30Speaker 3: Bryce Elder's down. Now Lopez goes down. I mean, Martin
- 37:32Speaker 3: Perez has had a great year, but are you counting
- 37:34Speaker 3: on him as a.
- 37:37Speaker 2: Game two starter? I love Martin Perez. Okay. And then,
- 37:42Speaker 2: I mean, their bullpen's really good. Their team can really hit.
- 37:44Speaker 3: It's pretty amazing that Walt Weiss deserves some manager of
- 37:46Speaker 3: the year credit.
- 37:48Speaker 2: Excuse me. Sorry.
- 37:49Speaker 4: I agree. They nailed that decision.
- 37:52Speaker 3: Because just because of what he's been able to do with,
- 37:55Speaker 3: I mean, I know every team has injuries, but their
- 37:56Speaker 3: team has really had some injuries.
- 37:58Speaker 2: Especially in the starting rotation. He's used the bullpen well.
- 38:03Speaker 2: I mean, that's a.
- 38:05Speaker 5: Tailor-made sign of a good manager is using the bullpen well.
- 38:10Speaker 5: I think maybe he could have given some of these guys.
- 38:13Speaker 5: You're seeing some guys kind of slowly taper off as
- 38:17Speaker 5: the season's going on in the position player. I thought
- 38:19Speaker 5: some of these guys would play less games. Matt Olsen's
- 38:22Speaker 5: never going to come out. Looks like he's a little tired.
- 38:24Speaker 2: We'll see.
- 38:25Speaker 5: I think this is a really tough team in the
- 38:27Speaker 5: playoffs because of that bullpen.
- 38:32Speaker 4: Hey, the Yankees clinched a postseason spot. The age-old debate. AJ,
- 38:36Speaker 4: do you celebrate? You should, right?
- 38:39Speaker 1: Because the Yankees are not in line to win the division,
- 38:42Speaker 1: so you should toast it up, go.
- 38:44Speaker 4: Out with the boys, right?
- 38:45Speaker 2: 100%. At least do something. A little toast, a little something.
- 38:49Speaker 2: Enjoy it.
- 38:50Speaker 3: I'm not saying full-fledged champagne the whole deal, but you
- 38:54Speaker 3: should definitely celebrate it and you definitely should be rewarded because, again,
- 38:58Speaker 3: there's been a lot of teams that haven't made the
- 39:00Speaker 3: postseason very often.
- 39:01Speaker 2: Rockies, right? Look at the Rockies. They haven't made it.
- 39:04Speaker 3: They don't make it very often. There's teams that don't
- 39:06Speaker 3: make it. Marlins don't make it very often. Teams that
- 39:08Speaker 3: don't make it very often, when you get a chance
- 39:10Speaker 3: to make it, you should celebrate it. I'm not saying full-fledged.
- 39:13Speaker 3: Champagne bath, you see him there. Ben Rice looks really
- 39:15Speaker 3: happy in that picture, by the way.
- 39:17Speaker 2: But you should celebrate it.
- 39:21Speaker 5: I say you celebrate it like it's your last. Like
- 39:24Speaker 5: you never know if you're ever going to make the
- 39:26Speaker 5: playoffs again. 2018, Cubs never celebrated. and they made it
- 39:31Speaker 5: to the playoffs, and they never got to pop champagne.
- 39:34Speaker 5: I just, I think it's too hard. The season's too long.
- 39:38Speaker 5: Nothing's guaranteed. You're never guaranteed next season. It might be
- 39:42Speaker 5: the last time that some of those guys ever pop champagne. So,
- 39:45Speaker 5: I'm not saying you should ever go out and go crazy,
- 39:48Speaker 5: go nuts. Because you still have games. You still have
- 39:51Speaker 5: a goal to win the division. But act like you
- 39:55Speaker 5: are going to win 100 of them. Celebrate like it's
- 39:57Speaker 5: your last.
- 40:00Speaker 1: Also, can I just, while we're talking AL East, get
- 40:03Speaker 1: a note in on the Blue Jays? I know we
- 40:04Speaker 1: mentioned at the top of the show for a second,
- 40:06Speaker 1: but oof. That's a tough way to lose yesterday. Kaz
- 40:11Speaker 1: Akamoto with the huge home run for them. But ultimately,
- 40:15Speaker 1: John Schneider said the toss from Vlad was okay, and
- 40:18Speaker 1: Barland just kind of dropped it.
- 40:19Speaker 4: Right? Covering first. Yeah.
- 40:21Speaker 3: I mean, that's not why they lost. They lost on
- 40:23Speaker 3: the blue pit down the left field line that tied
- 40:25Speaker 3: the game.
- 40:26Speaker 2: Right.
- 40:27Speaker 3: And then they got a hit. I mean, it was
- 40:28Speaker 3: first and third and no out of it. When the
- 40:31Speaker 3: ball to first was hit, the guy was going to score.
- 40:32Speaker 2: So, I mean, that wasn't why they lost the game.
- 40:34Speaker 4: It doesn't matter. Yeah.
- 40:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:35Speaker 4: That's fair.
- 40:36Speaker 2: Yeah. That's tough. That's tough to put it on that.
- 40:39Speaker 2: I mean, there was multiple things that they lost that game.
- 40:41Speaker 2: I think he was on second. Well, yeah.
- 40:43Speaker 3: It would have been, sorry. It would have been first
- 40:45Speaker 3: and third, whatever with no outs, whatever it was. So,
- 40:47Speaker 3: I mean, You can play the if game.
- 40:49Speaker 4: Yeah, the bloop that fell in. The inning before.
- 40:52Speaker 2: The inning before. The bloop that fell in.
- 40:55Speaker 5: The hardest part is Louie Varlin pitched an inning plus there.
- 40:59Speaker 5: I think it was an inning and a third or
- 41:00Speaker 5: inning and two thirds. You got to come back out
- 41:03Speaker 5: and win again tonight. So the offense, to me, has
- 41:05Speaker 5: to pick up the bullpen tonight.
- 41:07Speaker 4: Every day Louie's back. So much.
- 41:14Speaker 1: No, we didn't plan this. And also, no, Kratts, we're
- 41:17Speaker 1: not wearing the same exact Mack Weldon shirts. I've got
- 41:20Speaker 1: a green and you've got the heather blue.
- 41:23Speaker 2: I do. I do.
- 41:24Speaker 5: And the whole array of colors. There's so many to
- 41:28Speaker 5: choose from with Mack Weldon. And not just in your shirts.
- 41:31Speaker 5: In everything that you get.
- 41:33Speaker 1: We also should talk about the Air Knit X collection.

- 42:10Speaker 1: That's M-A-C-K-W-E-L-D-O-N.com, code F-O-U-L. Okay, so congrats to the Dodgers.
- 42:16Speaker 1: They clinched a postseason berth for the 14th straight season.
- 42:21Speaker 1: And they're winning a lot lately, and things are good.
- 42:23Speaker 1: And if anything, sometimes, AJ, I feel like we can
- 42:25Speaker 1: be too critical about the Dodgers. But we did bring
- 42:28Speaker 1: up how Edwin Diaz is struggling. Edgardo Henriquez going down
- 42:32Speaker 1: for at least the rest of the regular season, if
- 42:33Speaker 1: not more.
- 42:34Speaker 4: That's a big loss for them, too.
- 42:35Speaker 1: He's been pretty solid, and he's pumping Velo, finding his
- 42:39Speaker 1: own more sub-3 ERA.
- 42:41Speaker 4: He's hurt.
- 42:43Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 42:45Speaker 3: Listen, I saw what Dave Roberts said last night after
- 42:48Speaker 3: they clinched, and Eduardo Henriquez going down, our friend Katie Wu,
- 42:52Speaker 3: and then Edwin Diaz struggling. But let me just– what
- 42:57Speaker 3: Dave Roberts said last night was kind of perfect. He's like,
- 43:00Speaker 3: people underestimate how special it is to get to the
- 43:02Speaker 3: postseason in baseball. And when he says there's new guys,
- 43:05Speaker 3: there's guys that have been here, and it's about the
- 43:07Speaker 3: culture that they built, I 100% agree. It's about the
- 43:10Speaker 3: culture the Dodgers have built. Yes, they spend money. Yes,
- 43:12Speaker 3: they have really good players. But those players also fit together,
- 43:16Speaker 3: and they know the standard that they're held to. And
- 43:18Speaker 3: when they bring in a guy like Tarek Skubal, or
- 43:20Speaker 3: they bring in someone else, they hold those guys to
- 43:22Speaker 3: that standard. And when you talk to the players on
- 43:24Speaker 3: that team, man, they say it's about winning, and it's
- 43:27Speaker 3: all about winning.
- 43:28Speaker 2: And there's no egos involved. That's pretty awesome.
- 43:31Speaker 5: Because we're not in there, we're only looking from the
- 43:34Speaker 5: outsider's view. Dave Roberts is the best manager in the
- 43:38Speaker 5: game right now. And people are going to be like, what?
- 43:41Speaker 5: Anybody could manage that. It's just the, you know, they're
- 43:44Speaker 5: the Monstars. They're the Space Jam team. They're superstars.
- 43:48Speaker 2: They are.
- 43:49Speaker 5: But they've had to win in different ways. They've had
- 43:51Speaker 5: to make adjustments. In Dave Roberts' tenure, he almost got
- 43:55Speaker 5: fired and then won two World Series. He went from,
- 43:59Speaker 5: you know, hey, you know what? I got to learn
- 44:01Speaker 5: to play some of these lefties against lefties because they
- 44:04Speaker 5: get better They get better looks, and it makes their
- 44:06Speaker 5: all-there at-bats for the entire season better. He had to
- 44:09Speaker 5: make adjustments with the front office that also had to
- 44:12Speaker 5: make adjustments. And he's helped build that culture as much,
- 44:17Speaker 5: if not more, than anybody else that's in there.
- 44:19Speaker 2: Yes, players. Yes, front office. Yes, Friedman. All that stuff.
- 44:22Speaker 5: But the best way that I tell people, like, well,
- 44:26Speaker 5: who's the best manager right now in the game? I
- 44:28Speaker 5: say it has to be Dave Roberts. He won one
- 44:30Speaker 5: World Series with essentially all– bullpen guys, and he won
- 44:36Speaker 5: the next World Series with essentially all starters. He's making
- 44:42Speaker 5: those adjustments. His baseball acuum is incredible. His ability to
- 44:47Speaker 5: talk to people from all walks of life to get
- 44:50Speaker 5: them to all push in the same direction is incredible.
- 45:08Speaker 4: All right, people, let's slap.
- 45:10Speaker 1: We have moves being made, just some little pickups and
- 45:13Speaker 1: adds and drops. Jesus Sanchez is going to make his
- 45:16Speaker 1: D-backs debut tonight at DH against the Marlins. Diamondbacks are
- 45:21Speaker 1: basically in, I mean, like we talked about with Steve Perthume.
- 45:24Speaker 4: Got to win them all.
- 45:25Speaker 1: I mean, not all, but just you got to be where?
- 45:28Speaker 4: Two games back? Do we know what the season series is?
- 45:31Speaker 3: No, you have to be one because if they win
- 45:33Speaker 3: one and you're out, you have to win one. You
- 45:35Speaker 3: have to be within one game.
- 45:37Speaker 4: Because of the season series.
- 45:39Speaker 2: Yes.
- 45:40Speaker 4: Right.
- 45:40Speaker 1: So two is really three. So it's got to be
- 45:43Speaker 1: one so that it's two. Cause then going into the
- 45:46Speaker 1: final series, which is Diamondbacks Padres, you'd have to win
- 45:48Speaker 1: two out of three so that you're one game up,
- 45:51Speaker 1: not tied.
- 45:52Speaker 4: If you were one game back.
- 45:54Speaker 2: Yep. Yes. Correct. That was good math. Good mathing. Good mathing, Scott.
- 46:00Speaker 4: Thank you. What else do you have for us?
- 46:02Speaker 3: I got one quick thing. Uh, I didn't, I haven't
- 46:05Speaker 3: talked about this Sunday. I woke up and there was
- 46:07Speaker 3: an owl in my backyard, a great horned owl it's called. Uh,
- 46:12Speaker 3: and it was injured and, uh, it was in my
- 46:16Speaker 3: backyard and I had to, I had to throw a
- 46:19Speaker 3: blanket over it and I took it.
- 46:20Speaker 2: To the Audubon society. Okay.
- 46:22Speaker 3: And, and I didn't even know this was existed, but
- 46:25Speaker 3: I had to try to figure out what to do
- 46:26Speaker 3: with this owl. I couldn't let my dogs out. My dogs,
- 46:28Speaker 3: it was going to get into a fight and it
- 46:29Speaker 3: couldn't fly. It didn't look healthy. So we had to
- 46:32Speaker 3: put it into a box and I had to drive
- 46:34Speaker 3: it up to the other side of town and took
- 46:36Speaker 3: it into the Audubon Society. And they have this giant
- 46:39Speaker 3: thing that I didn't even know existed.
- 46:40Speaker 2: It was a.
- 46:42Speaker 3: Basically a rescue center for hawks and eagles and owls
- 46:47Speaker 3: and all this stuff.
- 46:48Speaker 2: Right. It was really awesome. So we gave it to him.
- 46:49Speaker 2: There was someone that brought in a hawk while I
- 46:52Speaker 2: was there that had eaten it. And this is the owl.
- 46:54Speaker 2: Poor little guy.
- 46:56Speaker 3: Um, but I found out today you called, I called
- 46:58Speaker 3: to check on him. He was blind in both eyes.
- 47:00Speaker 3: So I had to, they had to put him down.
- 47:02Speaker 3: So it was, it was kind of a sad thing.
- 47:04Speaker 3: I'm like, did everything I could, but man, I mean,
- 47:07Speaker 3: if it, listen, the Audubon society, thank you for all
- 47:09Speaker 3: your help.
- 47:09Speaker 2: Thank you for what you guys are doing, but, uh,
- 47:12Speaker 2: kind of a little bit sad. I I'm sorry.
- 47:14Speaker 3: So, uh, yeah, uh, it sucks, but did everything I could.
- 47:18Speaker 3: And for people that say I'm heartless, I tried to
- 47:20Speaker 3: save the owl, tried.
- 47:21Speaker 2: To save it.
- 47:23Speaker 4: That's not heartless. You tried to save the owl.
- 47:25Speaker 2: No, I said people that say I'm heartless. I'm just saying.
- 47:27Speaker 4: Oh, for people that say I'm heartless.
- 47:29Speaker 3: By the way, the Audubon Society, I'm going to donate
- 47:32Speaker 3: to them because, I mean, the things that they, like
- 47:34Speaker 3: I said, someone brought in a hawk that had eaten
- 47:36Speaker 3: a rat that had eaten rat poison. So they have
- 47:39Speaker 3: to flush it with fluids to try to save that.
- 47:41Speaker 3: So it was a pretty incredible thing. And a lot
- 47:44Speaker 3: of it's volunteer work. So if you can, you know,
- 47:47Speaker 3: I know Alana's big into dogs, but if you can
- 47:49Speaker 3: support things like that, causes like that, please, please do.
- 47:55Speaker 4: That's admirable. That's really cool.
- 47:57Speaker 1: And yeah, I mean, sad to hear that that particular
- 48:01Speaker 1: owl didn't make it. But yeah, you know, I would
- 48:04Speaker 1: say just in general, a lot of things going on
- 48:06Speaker 1: in the local community people don't realize are a thing.
- 48:09Speaker 1: So there's a lot of good work being put together
- 48:12Speaker 1: behind the scenes for stuff like that.
- 48:14Speaker 4: On our way out here, two things. One, Kratzath, what
- 48:17Speaker 4: do you got?
- 48:20Speaker 5: I was going to tell a story about what the
- 48:21Speaker 5: Yankees do when they clinch. I'll save it for another
- 48:24Speaker 5: time when we see more champagne. I think the Yankees
- 48:27Speaker 5: do it. Maybe other teams do it, but if the
- 48:31Speaker 5: Yankees do another champagne shower, I'll talk about it and
- 48:34Speaker 5: bring a prop in from when I played with the Yankees.
- 48:37Speaker 4: Can you just bring it tomorrow and I'll put it
- 48:38Speaker 4: in a reminder to do it at the top of
- 48:40Speaker 4: the show?
- 48:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll see if anybody else does it. AJ, you'll
- 48:45Speaker 2: be on tomorrow, right? I think so, unless we get fired.
- 48:49Speaker 4: Yeah, same. So we'll be on tomorrow for it.
- 48:53Speaker 2: It's 50-50 at Best Grouts.
- 48:55Speaker 4: It's always 50-50.
- 48:57Speaker 1: Yeah, you might get replaced by Penelope. And, yeah, lastly,
- 49:02Speaker 1: hot sheets coming up next. They're going to talk about
- 49:05Speaker 1: Josue de Paula.
- 49:08Speaker 2: Have you guys been saying the name right? Yeah, Josue.
- 49:11Speaker 4: Josue. Humbled. Humbled.
- 49:13Speaker 2: Humbled in his first at-bat. I mean, first home run.
- 49:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 49:16Speaker 2: He's got a little Soto in him, too. A little
- 49:19Speaker 2: Soto in him. in him. That's a nice swing. That
- 49:22Speaker 2: dude is good.
- 49:23Speaker 5: I know Hot Sheet's going to go more into that,
- 49:25Speaker 5: but that dude, watching some of his minor league at-bats
- 49:27Speaker 5: are awesome.
- 49:29Speaker 1: Sometimes I'm watching a guy like him, and I'm like,
- 49:31Speaker 1: how are the Dodgers landing these guys over and over again?
- 49:35Speaker 4: You know?
- 49:35Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. The Tigers didn't want him for Tarek Skubal.
- 49:39Speaker 2: I'm kidding. He wasn't available. He wasn't available. I was kidding.
- 49:43Speaker 4: All right. Well, we'll see everyone tomorrow if AJ is
- 49:46Speaker 4: invited back.
- 49:47Speaker 2: Did you bring your dog day tomorrow? Bring your dog
- 49:51Speaker 2: to work tomorrow?
- 49:52Speaker 1: The maintenance came two hours early and opened the door
- 49:55Speaker 1: and wasn't speaking my language and said, we're coming in
- 49:57Speaker 1: no matter what.
- 49:58Speaker 4: And my dog freaked out.
- 50:01Speaker 2: That's a show.
- 50:01Speaker 7: Cuidado!
- 50:02Speaker 2: Cuidado! Perro! Perro! Ay, Dios mio!
- 50:09Speaker 4: Parlay boost token swing for a bigger payout.
