- 0:48Speaker 1: director of the nineteenth Rotary Half Marathon, which also takes
- 0:53Speaker 1: place on Sunday. Added to that, if we have time,
- 1:03Speaker 1: I have got reports on local football, rugby, hockey and rowing.
- 1:08Speaker 1: If I don't get them in today, then we're trying
- 1:10Speaker 1: to squeeze him in on Saturday with the eighty Duks
- 1:13Speaker 1: on the Saturday Sports Show. So we better get straight
- 1:21Speaker 1: to the starting line, and we're under orders and we're
- 1:25Speaker 1: off with a bit of a Genesis. I'll tell you what,
- 1:54Speaker 1: I love that track. That's a Genesis Invisible Touch. So
- 1:57Speaker 1: if you like your eighties and your nineties in fact,
- 2:01Speaker 1: come along to the Three Heels on Saturday, the twenty
- 2:03Speaker 1: sixth of October. We're in our very own Rodeo Folks
- 2:06Speaker 1: that presents a night of eighties and nineties music. The
- 2:09Speaker 1: man to get in touch with is Paul Reynolds and
- 2:12Speaker 1: he's got a lovely easy email address Paul Reynolds nineteen
- 2:16Speaker 1: seventy three at gmail dot com, so if you just
- 2:19Speaker 1: drop him a line. Tickets are ten pound each and

- 2:26Speaker 1: look forward to a good night. We've also got live

- 2:32Speaker 1: so make sure you're there now, Surrey. This coming Sunday
- 2:38Speaker 1: at the Folks and Indoor Bowls Club, there is an
- 2:40Speaker 1: open day and we're joined by Terry and Linda Hardy
- 2:43Speaker 1: from the club.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Good morning, Terry, morning Caves. Nice to see you both.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Thanks for coming in. Mob had it today. That's what
- 2:50Speaker 1: I like to see. So we'll start with you. Terry
- 2:54Speaker 1: tell us, well, tell our listeners what your role is
- 2:57Speaker 1: at the club.
- 2:57Speaker 3: To start with, Yeah, I'm one of the trained coaches
- 3:00Speaker 3: at the club. There's some six or seven of us
- 3:04Speaker 3: on a level two. We've got four level twos and
- 3:09Speaker 3: three level threes, so quite an in depth group of coaches.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Most of who will be there on Sunday morning, just.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Really not to show anybody the game in depth, but
- 3:22Speaker 3: just a sort of a light hand on the top
- 3:25Speaker 3: of the shoulder to say, come on, this is how
- 3:27Speaker 3: we do it, this is the way of doing it.
- 3:28Speaker 3: It's nothing really pressurized or anything. Come on, I have
- 3:31Speaker 3: a go at this fantastic game. Right, And Linda, what's
- 3:34Speaker 3: your role at the club?
- 3:35Speaker 4: Well, I'm the company secretary, which basically involves paying all
- 3:39Speaker 4: the bills, the looking after the staff and obviously paying
- 3:44Speaker 4: their wages, and just all the basic general running of
- 3:47Speaker 4: the club and the building and keeping things hopefully in line.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Really right, okay, and what about membership you get involved
- 3:53Speaker 1: in at as well?
- 3:54Speaker 2: I do get involved in membership.
- 3:55Speaker 4: Yeah, and we've currently got obviously we're a members club.
- 3:58Speaker 4: We've currently got over three hundred playing members and about
- 4:04Speaker 4: three fifty social members.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Three hundred playing members. Yeah, well that does surprise.
- 4:08Speaker 4: Yeah, we're actually trying to grow that as well, because
- 4:11Speaker 4: we do still have capacity for rink usage in the
- 4:14Speaker 4: afternoons mainly, and we'd love to get more members to
- 4:18Speaker 4: feel those.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Really, So Terry over to you now coaching. Do you
- 4:23Speaker 1: still play actively as well? You stalking the team.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Yes I do.
- 4:26Speaker 3: I play in the Kent League Men's Kent League, which
- 4:30Speaker 3: is everywhere in Kent. Last year where you were actually
- 4:33Speaker 3: league champions. We were the champions of Kent. Yeah, fantastic achievement.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Hadn't been done by the Folkstone Club for a long
- 4:39Speaker 3: long time, right And what's the furthest you travel? Do
- 4:42Speaker 3: you think the nearest furthest Tumby Tweils? Where else do
- 4:50Speaker 3: we go? All of North Kent, Dartford, Graysend, Isle of Grain,
- 4:55Speaker 3: Medway Town switched the ball than it?
- 4:58Speaker 2: Bromley is all indoors, all indoors? Yes, okay? And are
- 5:03Speaker 2: they games that are played at the weekend?
- 5:05Speaker 3: The men's games are played at the weekends, but there's
- 5:09Speaker 3: also the ladies play in the Kent League as well,
- 5:12Speaker 3: playing a similar type of venues as what the men do,
- 5:16Speaker 3: but there's is midweek rather than the weekends.
- 5:19Speaker 1: So getting back to coaching, if you've got someone that's
- 5:21Speaker 1: become a member, they love the game and they're showing
- 5:24Speaker 1: a bit of interest in coaching, can you point them
- 5:27Speaker 1: in the right direction?
- 5:28Speaker 5: Yep?
- 5:28Speaker 3: Next the next step if people come along and really
- 5:31Speaker 3: get the bug for this, And I always say to
- 5:32Speaker 3: pick new people. When they ever go at bowls, they'll
- 5:36Speaker 3: be bowling up and down and say, oh yeah, I
- 5:38Speaker 3: like this, this is really good fun. I say to
- 5:40Speaker 3: them on day one of their teaching class, You've got
- 5:44Speaker 3: to be prepared for this because you might get addicted
- 5:46Speaker 3: to it. Very addictive game. So what we do if
- 5:50Speaker 3: people show an interest every Wednesday from I just got here,
- 5:57Speaker 3: sometimes from next Wednesday every lunch time, turn up about
- 6:01Speaker 3: ten to twelve they or thereabouts. There's coaches there to
- 6:05Speaker 3: give you proper formal training and that lasts about two
- 6:10Speaker 3: to two and a half hours, and then we do
- 6:12Speaker 3: about five week course. And at the end of that
- 6:15Speaker 3: five week course, always on a Wednesday, you'll be you'll
- 6:19Speaker 3: have the idea of one how to bowl, you'll know
- 6:22Speaker 3: the rules, you'll know the protocol, and you know you'll
- 6:27Speaker 3: be out of bowl.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Right. Do you get them?
- 6:30Speaker 1: Is this all in sort of in house or do
- 6:32Speaker 1: you get other people from different parts again come over
- 6:35Speaker 1: to do a course.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Generally not No, it's mostly localhouse. Yeah yeah, yeah. But
- 6:40Speaker 2: also we also do sort.
- 6:41Speaker 3: Of continuation training as well for those who have gone
- 6:44Speaker 3: through that process. And just one another little touch on
- 6:48Speaker 3: the tiller to get them up to a better standard.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Right now, Over the years, Terry, you've brought guests in
- 6:56Speaker 1: and so I've got to find out more about bowls
- 6:59Speaker 1: than I have thought I ever would. And I realized
- 7:02Speaker 1: that the summer season is coming to an end now.
- 7:04Speaker 1: So do you get a big rush of people coming
- 7:08Speaker 1: to use your indoor facility?
- 7:09Speaker 2: Yes?
- 7:10Speaker 3: In effect, during the summer everybody plays at their outdoor clubs,
- 7:14Speaker 3: and that could be four in Folkstone, like where Bay
- 7:19Speaker 3: Folkstone itself, by the Morrison's round the Park, Cheriton, New
- 7:26Speaker 3: Romney Hives, Baram four Indover. I mean there's a lot
- 7:31Speaker 3: of outdoor rinks, there's very few comparatively indoor rinks. So
- 7:37Speaker 3: once the outdoor season stops, everybody from all of those
- 7:41Speaker 3: local clubs, mainly local clubs, although we do have people
- 7:44Speaker 3: come down from Canterbury as well. They then come to
- 7:47Speaker 3: our club and join the Folkston Indoor Bowls Club.
- 7:51Speaker 1: I see right, So if these clubs, if you like,
- 7:56Speaker 1: tell me where the other options are for indoor bowling
- 8:00Speaker 1: along the coast is so they wouldn't have to travel
- 8:01Speaker 1: too far.
- 8:02Speaker 3: No, the nearest ones really from from Folkston is Thanet Whitstable.
- 8:11Speaker 3: Then going the other Way, Ashford, Madstone, Tunbridge, seven Oaks,
- 8:16Speaker 3: Tumbridge Wells and then going up the other way sitting Bourn,
- 8:21Speaker 3: Medway Town's Isle of Grain, Dartford ten. Yeah, but not
- 8:30Speaker 3: obviously because they're very expensive things to run. There's not
- 8:33Speaker 3: so many of them.
- 8:35Speaker 1: What I was going to say to you, I mean,
- 8:36Speaker 1: when I first came into the indoor Balls Club in Folkston,
- 8:39Speaker 1: I thought, oh my word, this is the tardest.
- 8:41Speaker 2: You know, it is huge.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Is you're a club extremely huge or the others are
- 8:47Speaker 1: a bit smaller.
- 8:48Speaker 2: It's one of the.
- 8:49Speaker 3: Biggest ones in the county. It's got seven rinks that
- 8:53Speaker 3: we play on. Most of them in the county are
- 8:55Speaker 3: all six, some of them have eight, a couple of
- 8:58Speaker 3: them got eight. But we know we're one of the biggest,
- 9:01Speaker 3: and we're certainly one of the longest. Our one is
- 9:05Speaker 3: thirty seven and a half meters. The standard sort of
- 9:08Speaker 3: size is thirty two thirty four.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Okay, so it's slightly longer, but you can bring it
- 9:13Speaker 1: in and I suppose put the jack up the other income.
- 9:16Speaker 3: Well, that's that's all part of the game, you know,
- 9:17Speaker 3: playing playing a short jack, which can be anything up
- 9:20Speaker 3: to twenty three meters or a long jack that can
- 9:22Speaker 3: be thirty four meters right.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Okay, now Linda, coming back to you, judging by your
- 9:27Speaker 1: three hundred members, I mean I want to ask you
- 9:30Speaker 1: for all their postcodes.
- 9:31Speaker 2: But do you have people that are quite live quite
- 9:36Speaker 2: a way away and not all down the marshall any.
- 9:39Speaker 4: Yeah, we certainly have people from the marsh Like Terry said,
- 9:42Speaker 4: we have some that come in from Canterbury. We have
- 9:45Speaker 4: some that come from Ashford, even though there's an indoor
- 9:48Speaker 4: center at Ashford. We've also got people from Sandwich and
- 9:54Speaker 4: some of the some of the sort of fanny areas,
- 9:57Speaker 4: but not too many because they tend to go to
- 9:59Speaker 4: the ones closer to them. But I think where our
- 10:04Speaker 4: club differs with a lot of the other indoor facilities
- 10:10Speaker 4: is that we have a separate hall and a separate
- 10:13Speaker 4: bar and dining area. A lot of the purpose built
- 10:17Speaker 4: newer clubs, it's all in one, so you wouldn't necessarily
- 10:22Speaker 4: be able to block off the bowling from where you
- 10:25Speaker 4: sit in, eat or have a drink.
- 10:26Speaker 2: Yeah, So we're quite unique in that regard as unique
- 10:29Speaker 2: as well.
- 10:30Speaker 1: And it's good also that you can have the bar
- 10:32Speaker 1: and you can shut off the kitchen area as well. Absolutely, yeah, yeah, okay,
- 10:36Speaker 1: Well we're chatting away here. So what we're going to
- 10:37Speaker 1: do now, we're going to play a bit of music,
- 10:39Speaker 1: but we're going to come back and you can both
- 10:41Speaker 1: tell us all about the open Day. So Terry, I
- 10:44Speaker 1: think you might like this one there go. That was
- 11:11Speaker 1: David Bowie and Starman nineteen seventy two. And as for you, Terry,
- 11:16Speaker 1: and you seem to know what album it was often.
- 11:19Speaker 3: Unky Dory, fantastic, one of the best Bowie albums ever.
- 11:22Speaker 2: I know he was a Bowie fan. So there you go,
- 11:24Speaker 2: yes for you?
- 11:24Speaker 1: Who right, Okay, time to talk about the open day.
- 11:28Speaker 1: So let's start with you Terry. First of all, if
- 11:32Speaker 1: you like, if there's someone listening here and just move
- 11:36Speaker 1: to Folkston, start with telling us where the club is
- 11:39Speaker 1: and we start from there.
- 11:40Speaker 2: What times the open day is? Yeah?
- 11:42Speaker 3: Sure, The Bowl Center is situated along at Chelson Road.
- 11:47Speaker 3: If you know where Morrison's is, it's just right next
- 11:50Speaker 3: door to Morrison's, just this side of the Sandwich, nicely
- 11:54Speaker 3: between Morrison's and the Harvey Grammar School. Wonderful place where
- 11:58Speaker 3: I spent my education. Of course, I can't believe he's
- 12:00Speaker 3: still there.
- 12:01Speaker 1: There's so many people that, if you like senior citizens
- 12:04Speaker 1: a chat with over the course of a week, say oh, yeah,
- 12:06Speaker 1: I used to go to Yeah.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:08Speaker 3: People don't believe it that I ever got there, but
- 12:10Speaker 3: it's true. I've got me pieces of paper saying I
- 12:12Speaker 3: did pass me. Yeah, your name still scrawled on a
- 12:15Speaker 3: desk somewhere. Is it under a desk? Terry loves Linda,
- 12:18Speaker 3: that's the one. Yes, But they're come back to the bowl.
- 12:22Speaker 3: So that's the place Cherum Road near the Three Hills.
- 12:25Speaker 3: If you know where the Three Hills are, or the
- 12:27Speaker 3: football club or the Harvey Grammar School or Morrison's, you can't.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Miss us, right, So what time is it?
- 12:33Speaker 3: The actual open day itself is listed from ten till four.
- 12:39Speaker 3: Just pop along at any time. We'll be able to
- 12:41Speaker 3: fit you in anytime during the day. If you've never
- 12:45Speaker 3: done it before, have a go. You just never know
- 12:48Speaker 3: a lot of people that I've dealt with before and
- 12:51Speaker 3: when I suggest it, they come and say I'm not
- 12:53Speaker 3: old enough yet. Well, let me tell you this. On
- 12:57Speaker 3: a Saturday evening we have a lot of youngsters come along.
- 13:01Speaker 3: We actually put on a Youngster's Evening every Saturday starts
- 13:05Speaker 3: at five o'clock. The Junior Club, we sometimes get fifteen
- 13:08Speaker 3: twenty youngsters and they start from anything from five five
- 13:14Speaker 3: years of age up to seventeen years of age. So
- 13:17Speaker 3: what I would say is if you're over five, I
- 13:19Speaker 3: think you'll find you're old enough.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Right, just on that point, we were talking about the
- 13:23Speaker 1: length of the court or the pitch or the rink.
- 13:26Speaker 3: Drink, drinks, drink. Yeah, for juniors, do they bring it
- 13:28Speaker 3: in no same length, same everything. Yeah, they just we
- 13:32Speaker 3: have a set. We have lots of sets of smaller,
- 13:35Speaker 3: smaller woods for smaller hands.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Oh I see, yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, so right, so
- 13:40Speaker 1: we've got the junior So okay, someone comes up and
- 13:43Speaker 1: comes in the door, someone jump on them and give
- 13:47Speaker 1: them a cup of tea or anything like that, Linda.
- 13:48Speaker 4: They will, indeed, yes, we'll ask for a few details
- 13:51Speaker 4: from everyone, just really for us to follow up to
- 13:55Speaker 4: see how they feel it went. And yes, they will
- 13:58Speaker 4: have a trial at bowls and they will be given
- 14:01Speaker 4: a ticket for a free cup of tea or coffee
- 14:03Speaker 4: or a soft drink out of the pump.
- 14:05Speaker 2: So yeah, then someone shows them all around.
- 14:07Speaker 4: Indeed, yes, we've got lots of willing volunteers. Sort of
- 14:10Speaker 4: lined up to show people around the facilities and obviously
- 14:14Speaker 4: to aid with them getting started with bowling.
- 14:17Speaker 2: And how many in the past, how many open days
- 14:19Speaker 2: have you had? This is our third one.
- 14:22Speaker 4: Yeah, we've had two very successful ones previous two years
- 14:27Speaker 4: and we're hoping judging by the previous two years, we
- 14:31Speaker 4: might get upward of one hundred people come along and
- 14:34Speaker 4: have a go.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Yeah, So if we have more, that'll be a real bonus.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Yeah, brilliant. And what can I say? Are they successful?
- 14:41Speaker 1: Do you get members out?
- 14:42Speaker 5: We do?
- 14:42Speaker 4: We definitely do, both playing members and social members.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Okay, that's great now Terry, getting back to you, I
- 14:49Speaker 1: mean over the years, as we know, going back, you
- 14:53Speaker 1: bought a team of youngsters in, didn't you, and they
- 14:56Speaker 1: were so successful with the girls from Cheriton, weren't they.
- 14:58Speaker 3: Yeah that's right, Yeah, team of I think they're bowling
- 15:01Speaker 3: outdoors and they got through to the national finals at Lemington,
- 15:05Speaker 3: which is like, I don't know, the Wembley of It's
- 15:08Speaker 3: the Wembley of Wembley. It's the place they did very well,
- 15:14Speaker 3: got through to the finals.
- 15:16Speaker 2: One of them still is playing. Leah Bamford.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Yes, she has now moved up to Essex with a
- 15:23Speaker 3: with a boyfriend and she will now be playing out
- 15:26Speaker 3: of Essex. Stacey went down to the West Country where
- 15:32Speaker 3: she got married.
- 15:33Speaker 2: I believe.
- 15:35Speaker 3: The Anna who who also was part of it, doesn't
- 15:38Speaker 3: play anymore and not as Rosin, although Rosine is still local.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:41Speaker 3: Yeah, Unfortunately, you know, people's yeah, move on, don't different things.
- 15:47Speaker 3: But at the time they were very, very successful.
- 15:50Speaker 1: I've got to know Lea's dad, you know, Peter, I
- 15:52Speaker 1: was thinking to be listening in or we can hear
- 15:53Speaker 1: the podcast, but I mean he was telling me that
- 15:57Speaker 1: now it was might have been eight or nine years
- 16:00Speaker 1: ago that they all came in. But Lea has now
- 16:03Speaker 1: gone past that twenty three age group.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Yeah, but.
- 16:09Speaker 1: Now she's moved up into a class where she's really
- 16:12Speaker 1: competing against more senior players, isn't she? Whereas before I
- 16:15Speaker 1: think it was under twenty three she was in that group,
- 16:17Speaker 1: that's right.
- 16:17Speaker 3: She's now actually into adult bowls. Yeah yeah, and has
- 16:23Speaker 3: been on the fringe of the of the England team
- 16:25Speaker 3: as well.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Yeah. Was she a reserve or something, wasn't she? Yeah
- 16:28Speaker 2: she was, yeah, I believe so.
- 16:29Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, but very very talented and still is excellent
- 16:33Speaker 3: lovely to see it.
- 16:35Speaker 1: So what else we got on open day? Anything else
- 16:37Speaker 1: we can talk about. What other facilities have you got
- 16:40Speaker 1: at the club? I mean, I've been there, but let's
- 16:42Speaker 1: describe it. You go in the door and kind of
- 16:45Speaker 1: give me a walking tour of what's in there.
- 16:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:48Speaker 3: In for the door, turn right is the huge bar area,
- 16:52Speaker 3: and it is a huge bar area, always manned. Whenever
- 16:56Speaker 3: there's balls going on, there's always the bar is always open.
- 16:59Speaker 3: You've got if you then look straight ahead of view
- 17:02Speaker 3: with the bar on your left hand side, you've got
- 17:05Speaker 3: the outdoor rink that currently has been put to bed
- 17:09Speaker 3: for the winter. That will be brought to life again
- 17:12Speaker 3: probably in April of next year. So it's at the
- 17:16Speaker 3: moment it's just similing away nicely on the back burner
- 17:20Speaker 3: and come next year it will be a fantastic green
- 17:23Speaker 3: like it was this year. We've got we do the
- 17:26Speaker 3: green ourselves, a couple of volunteers do it, and a
- 17:29Speaker 3: few other helpers as well around the green to make
- 17:31Speaker 3: it look nice. It's all about volunteers, it's all about
- 17:35Speaker 3: being part of it, and we've got a very good
- 17:37Speaker 3: team that manage it and look after it in the winter.
- 17:40Speaker 2: Months as well as the summer months.
- 17:42Speaker 3: And then as you're looking at that on the left
- 17:44Speaker 3: hand side, we've got the restaurant which is a ninety
- 17:47Speaker 3: cover restaurant, a la carte Mills change every day. Linda
- 17:53Speaker 3: would know the opening days for that in the summer
- 17:56Speaker 3: because they're slightly different in the winter.
- 18:00Speaker 4: Yeah, they're open on a Wednesday, Thursday, Friday lunchtimes and
- 18:06Speaker 4: Sunday carvery Sunday lunch time for carvery and also any
- 18:10Speaker 4: sort of private functions we have. There's obviously food provided
- 18:15Speaker 4: for those. Unfortunately, one daywnside, you do have to be
- 18:19Speaker 4: a member of the club to actually use the facilities,
- 18:23Speaker 4: unless you're obviously brought in as a guest.
- 18:25Speaker 1: So yeah, well that's not a bad thing really because
- 18:27Speaker 1: I am a member. I've just renewed my membership and
- 18:32Speaker 1: it's just so nice to pop in there.
- 18:34Speaker 2: They're so welcoming and you.
- 18:36Speaker 3: Know, absolutely and of course as well as a bowling membership,
- 18:40Speaker 3: we also do social membership as well for those who
- 18:44Speaker 3: don't you know, haven't really got any thoughts on playing bowls,
- 18:49Speaker 3: but they can go along as a social member.
- 18:51Speaker 4: We do offer with the social membership obviously the chance
- 18:55Speaker 4: to come along and enjoy the quiz nights, bingo nights,
- 18:59Speaker 4: the occasion, your race night, and any other musical sort
- 19:03Speaker 4: of musical evening that we put.
- 19:05Speaker 1: On it and use the restaurant as well. Oh absolutely, yeah, yeah,
- 19:11Speaker 1: So it's not all about bulls. I mean, Sue and
- 19:13Speaker 1: I have had a couple of lovely Sunday lunches up there, and.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Really you think it's great, very good, very good value.
- 19:18Speaker 1: Okay, getting back to the bulls though, So we're running
- 19:22Speaker 1: out of time now, So is there anything else you
- 19:23Speaker 1: want to add? Is there any thank yous, there any
- 19:26Speaker 1: welcome in or absolutely anything terry?
- 19:29Speaker 3: Generally speaking, the club works with volunteers. Yes, there are
- 19:34Speaker 3: some paid staff there behind the bar, because it's run
- 19:37Speaker 3: very professionally and you know, it's a well stopped bar
- 19:41Speaker 3: and it's well covered. But generally speaking, you need volunteers
- 19:45Speaker 3: to help out to run it all. And all credits
- 19:47Speaker 3: of those volunteers who work very very hard behind the
- 19:50Speaker 3: scenes to maintain the leagues and to maintain the greens
- 19:54Speaker 3: and to maintain everything else that needs to be done
- 19:57Speaker 3: in a bowls club. And it's what a number to
- 20:00Speaker 3: be quite honest.
- 20:01Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, okay, excellent.
- 20:03Speaker 1: So Linda, anything you know, finally to add from you,
- 20:08Speaker 1: So you'll make yourself known to people that come in
- 20:11Speaker 1: the door on Sunday.
- 20:12Speaker 4: Money will yet, that'd be myself and Samantha. We'll be
- 20:15Speaker 4: at the door sort of welcoming people and taking some
- 20:18Speaker 4: details from people and just basically showing them where to
- 20:21Speaker 4: go and just look forward to seeing as many people
- 20:23Speaker 4: who can get there really.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Right well too, Well, we could talk forever, but I've
- 20:28Speaker 1: got another guest coming on in a minute, and I
- 20:31Speaker 1: know he can talk forever as well. So I just
- 20:33Speaker 1: want to say a mercy thank you to you both
- 20:35Speaker 1: for coming in, and I really do hope that you'll
- 20:39Speaker 1: get loads of new members and you're going to have
- 20:41Speaker 1: a successful day.
- 20:42Speaker 2: Okay, thanks very much, thank you, thank you.
- 20:46Speaker 1: Okay, time for a bit of a green day. Well
- 20:59Speaker 1: there go Green Day and Holiday as a bouncy old
- 21:02Speaker 1: song to keep us in the mood. Right now, I'm
- 21:05Speaker 1: going to crack on because to be honest, I don't
- 21:07Speaker 1: think I'm going to get all these reports in, but
- 21:09Speaker 1: do not despair back on air on Saturday. But one
- 21:13Speaker 1: report I do want to get in is that we've
- 21:15Speaker 1: got some news from the Folkston Rowing Club Now this
- 21:17Speaker 1: is really interesting, this one. Two childhood friends, Craig Coveman
- 21:21Speaker 1: and Sam Milton, felt the need for a rowing challenge.
- 21:25Speaker 1: They had rowed the channel before and thought it was
- 21:27Speaker 1: about time they did something else on the water, so
- 21:30Speaker 1: they headed off to Scotland to row twenty one miles
- 21:33Speaker 1: along lock Ness. Now, I've been doing some research on
- 21:37Speaker 1: this event, called a monster the lock it's called, and
- 21:40Speaker 1: it attracts rowers from all over the world. It's a
- 21:43Speaker 1: mass start and all the boats must be human powered,
- 21:46Speaker 1: so no motors or anything like that. It's got to
- 21:49Speaker 1: be all down to a muscle power. And the boats
- 21:51Speaker 1: must be seaworthy, yes, seaworthy in case it cuts up rough. Now,
- 21:56Speaker 1: a video I watched from a previous race shows boats
- 21:59Speaker 1: of all shapes and sizes, some single handed rowers and
- 22:02Speaker 1: others with crews as big as ten. Now, the race,
- 22:06Speaker 1: as I said, is twenty one miles long, and the
- 22:08Speaker 1: lock is actually twenty two miles, and it's a race
- 22:11Speaker 1: which goes from A to B. So Craig and Sam
- 22:14Speaker 1: were grateful for the support crew of Craig's parents who
- 22:18Speaker 1: were at the finish line and drove them back to
- 22:21Speaker 1: the start. Some of these that you have to think
- 22:23Speaker 1: about this, don't you, you know, because you don't expect them
- 22:25Speaker 1: to row back on other twenty one miles to pick
- 22:27Speaker 1: up their kit Anyway, the pictures I saw Craig and
- 22:32Speaker 1: Sam looked really smart on the yellow boat. The yellower
- 22:35Speaker 1: boat actually was called the David Rumbold. It was named
- 22:38Speaker 1: after a long standing member of the rowing club, and
- 22:41Speaker 1: they were kitchen out in the yellow tops, sporting the
- 22:46Speaker 1: club badge and the club colors. Gray told me that
- 22:50Speaker 1: the course was very misty with rough water for about
- 22:53Speaker 1: half of it. Their official time was two hours, fifty
- 22:56Speaker 1: eight minutes and thirty eight seconds, come in twenty fifth
- 22:59Speaker 1: out of one hundred twelve. So that's a really good position.
- 23:02Speaker 1: As they thought to themselves, do you know what, next time,
- 23:05Speaker 1: we might have to do a bit more training than
- 23:06Speaker 1: the four training sessions we did for this one. And
- 23:09Speaker 1: after seeing the pictures of the blisters on their hands,
- 23:12Speaker 1: I think I've got to agree with them. But still,
- 23:14Speaker 1: let's get this in perspective. They made a fourteen hundred
- 23:17Speaker 1: mile trip round trip to Row twenty one miles for
- 23:20Speaker 1: a challenge. This is the story of two local lads
- 23:24Speaker 1: and great friends stepping outside the box and challenging themselves.
- 23:28Speaker 1: One driving force that kept them going was thinking about
- 23:30Speaker 1: their family members who had been affected by cancer. So
- 23:34Speaker 1: massive well dones to Craig Hoveman and Sam Milton, two
- 23:37Speaker 1: more local sporting heroes, and a big thanks to Craig
- 23:40Speaker 1: there for sharing that story. Okay, coming up now, we've
- 23:43Speaker 1: got a bit of music from Christina Aguilera.
- 23:47Speaker 6: Ah Dirty then to Clean, I love Them run Wild
- 24:15Speaker 6: of production.
- 24:16Speaker 2: Well it says it's still playing this song.
- 24:18Speaker 1: Got another nine seconds there, but it's all gone very quiet,
- 24:26Speaker 1: so there is officially finished that song. That was Christina Aguilera. Okay,
- 24:32Speaker 1: so we're moving on now to some hockey news. Well,
- 24:35Speaker 1: the focused on Optimist Hockey Club season started with obaying
- 24:38Speaker 1: on Saturday. Twelve out thirteen fixtures played with seven wins,
- 24:43Speaker 1: four draws and just one loss. The one fixture that
- 24:47Speaker 1: wasn't played was the men's first eleven, whose home game
- 24:50Speaker 1: against Oxted was canceled as Oxted have was drawn from
- 24:53Speaker 1: the league and we don't know why. I did try
- 24:55Speaker 1: and google everything, but I couldn't find out why why
- 24:58Speaker 1: they've drawn it pulled out at this late stage and
- 25:02Speaker 1: so we're just crack on with the rest of the results.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Now we're going with the men's team. The men's seconds,
- 25:07Speaker 1: and they had a great start. They beat Canterbury Pilgrims
- 25:11Speaker 1: by two goals to one, both goals coming from Lorcan Doyle.
- 25:15Speaker 1: The men's third team, they beat theal four to three,
- 25:18Speaker 1: goals coming from Archie Bates, Freddie Brown, Nick Ward and
- 25:21Speaker 1: Jack Timmins. The men's fourth team, who were promoted last season.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Now they had nine debutantes playing. They probably moved up
- 25:29Speaker 1: from the fifteen as people do. They drew two all
- 25:33Speaker 1: with Maldron Russets and they were a bit choked really
- 25:35Speaker 1: because they were winning two to one and they proceeded
- 25:39Speaker 1: a very very late goal to make it two all.
- 25:42Speaker 1: But the goals there came from Judefile and Ben Williams.
- 25:46Speaker 1: The men's fifteen they drew a three all with Gillingham
- 25:49Speaker 1: and Coourion's Ben Taylor getting two goals and Andrew Reedy
- 25:52Speaker 1: getting the third. The men's sixteen well, they sadly were
- 25:56Speaker 1: the only team that lost, but they only lost by
- 25:58Speaker 1: one goal to Neil, so come on. So they they
- 26:02Speaker 1: lost to New Beckahamians. The men's seventh team they won
- 26:07Speaker 1: seven nil against Maidstone and this must be the player
- 26:09Speaker 1: of the weekend. Matt Carter got five goals and Josh
- 26:13Speaker 1: Loho got the other two. And the men's eighth team
- 26:15Speaker 1: they drew three all with Gore Court Development Stuart Graham
- 26:19Speaker 1: getting two and Oakley Nichols getting the third. The Ladies
- 26:23Speaker 1: first they drew a nil nil away at Oxted and
- 26:26Speaker 1: that was a good away point for them because Oxted
- 26:28Speaker 1: Ladies are aside that we will be pushing for promotion
- 26:31Speaker 1: at the end of the season. Lady second eleven they
- 26:34Speaker 1: beat Canterbury one nil, Evie Little getting the goal.
- 26:37Speaker 2: The Ladies third.
- 26:38Speaker 1: Team they won two nil away at Tunbridge Wells, Vicky
- 26:41Speaker 1: Bates and Katie Morgan scoring there. The Ladies fourth team
- 26:45Speaker 1: they beat Madstone a free one, Phoebe Norman and Tessa
- 26:50Speaker 1: Reegian's getting the Phoebe got two and Tessa got one goal.
- 26:53Speaker 1: And the Ladies fifth team were they had a good
- 26:55Speaker 1: victory six to two away at Bromley and Beckenham. Isila
- 26:59Speaker 1: gallaher three, Hillary to Hillary Mercer got two and Janet
- 27:04Speaker 1: Fuller got her name on the score sheet as she
- 27:06Speaker 1: does most weeks. To be fair now this Saturday. It
- 27:09Speaker 1: looks like the men's have a game in the league.
- 27:12Speaker 1: They didn't have a game last week, but this surprised me. Actually,
- 27:14Speaker 1: I thought they had a friendly because they're playing the
- 27:17Speaker 1: Opps second eleven, but they're not. The Ops second eleven
- 27:21Speaker 1: got promoted last year. But what I didn't realize they
- 27:24Speaker 1: got promoted into the same division as the men's first team,
- 27:28Speaker 1: so they are actually playing each other in the league
- 27:31Speaker 1: this year. So that's gonna be great for a bit
- 27:33Speaker 1: of interclub banter, isn't it. So we see what AM's
- 27:36Speaker 1: there as the season unfolds, and all the eleven other
- 27:40Speaker 1: eleven teams, I won't go through them all, but they
- 27:41Speaker 1: all seem to have a fixture scheduled. So let's keep
- 27:44Speaker 1: that good start going. Okay, So coming up next, we've
- 27:47Speaker 1: got a song called Waterfall by Disclosure.
- 27:53Speaker 5: Radio Focus Stone Radio.
- 27:54Speaker 2: Folks Stone.
- 28:10Speaker 1: There ago that was Disclosure and water Pool. Now then
- 28:15Speaker 1: this Sunday sees the nineteenth of Folkston Rotary Half Marathon,
- 28:19Speaker 1: and I've joined by race director Ray Johnson. Welcome to
- 28:22Speaker 1: the show, Ray, Hi Kearn, great to be here. Make
- 28:25Speaker 1: me feel old. We'll have a chat about that and
- 28:30Speaker 1: in actual fact, Before we talk about Sunday's race, let's
- 28:33Speaker 1: go back in time if you're like, tell us how
- 28:35Speaker 1: it all started.
- 28:36Speaker 7: Yeah, it was back in two thousand and six, and
- 28:39Speaker 7: having done the London Marathon in two thousand and one
- 28:41Speaker 7: and I've been doing it every year since, I wanted
- 28:43Speaker 7: to bring an event to Folkstone which would be the
- 28:46Speaker 7: half marathon. So it's really enjoy the ambience and you
- 28:49Speaker 7: know kind of the stuff that goes on in London
- 28:51Speaker 7: down here in Folkston, and then since then it's taken off.
- 28:54Speaker 1: It's been great, I know two thousand and six. Yeah,
- 28:56Speaker 1: can you remember who won it the first time round?
- 28:58Speaker 1: I can't actually, I'll put you on the spot there
- 29:01Speaker 1: because I did have to look it up myself. Yeah,
- 29:03Speaker 1: but in two thousand and six, John Creane won the
- 29:05Speaker 1: first one, okay, and Rona lapso I was the first lady.
- 29:10Speaker 1: And can you remember approximately how many runners you got
- 29:13Speaker 1: that first one? Yeah?
- 29:14Speaker 5: I think it was about three hundred odd.
- 29:15Speaker 1: Yeah, three hundred and eleven. Yeah remember that? And how
- 29:18Speaker 1: many are you expecting on Sunday?
- 29:20Speaker 7: Well, it's been a record year this year, it's great.
- 29:22Speaker 7: So we've already got seven hundred and twenty. Book ten
- 29:25Speaker 7: we've got another thirty places available. They may be taken
- 29:28Speaker 7: up today, So if anyone is listening, you've got to
- 29:31Speaker 7: hit the buttons now because I think it'll be a
- 29:34Speaker 7: sellout probably tomorrow.
- 29:35Speaker 1: So you have a maximum seven fifty. Yeah, so yeah,
- 29:39Speaker 1: we're all good. So it's all gone crazy, Okay, Yeah,
- 29:44Speaker 1: now it's the nineteenth year. But I was thinking, I
- 29:49Speaker 1: remember we did one strange race, whether it was just
- 29:51Speaker 1: after COVID or not, but did COVID stop you doing
- 29:54Speaker 1: a race?
- 29:55Speaker 7: No, So we were like the half marathon was one
- 29:57Speaker 7: of the very few races during that period.
- 30:00Speaker 5: So managed to pull it off.
- 30:01Speaker 7: I thought, I need to make this to happen, and
- 30:03Speaker 7: luckily we took it all apart and put it all
- 30:06Speaker 7: back together again, made it all COVID and implying. So yeah,
- 30:08Speaker 7: twenty twenty, we managed to do it. I think that
- 30:11Speaker 7: was at the end of September.
- 30:12Speaker 1: Is that the week we set them off in waves,
- 30:15Speaker 1: but it was absolutely poor and down.
- 30:17Speaker 5: It was bad weather.
- 30:18Speaker 7: There was three hundred runners, so we had to close
- 30:20Speaker 7: it at that and as you say, we had waves
- 30:22Speaker 7: of ten So.
- 30:23Speaker 1: Yeah, it was a bit bizarre and the weather was
- 30:26Speaker 1: all for I do remember that looking back.
- 30:28Speaker 7: I mean the runners absolutely were thrilled that they could
- 30:31Speaker 7: just get to an event.
- 30:32Speaker 5: So that was really good.
- 30:33Speaker 1: Okay, Now, one thing that occurred to me is that
- 30:37Speaker 1: you have a children's race, But did you have a
- 30:39Speaker 1: children's race back in the day the first one we did?
- 30:42Speaker 7: Yeah, we have every year other than unfortunate co covidea
- 30:45Speaker 7: and yeah, the kids love it. You've already got twenty
- 30:47Speaker 7: five book ten, so you know it's a great little
- 30:49Speaker 7: run for them as well.
- 30:50Speaker 5: Yeah, get the family there.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Well, I'm I'm conscious of the time here, so I
- 30:54Speaker 1: really want to I want you to tell us we
- 30:58Speaker 1: all know, folks them that the road remembers has closed
- 31:01Speaker 1: and been closed for a long time, and a lot
- 31:03Speaker 1: of the runners are thinking, oh, thank goodness for that.
- 31:05Speaker 2: I haven't got run back.
- 31:06Speaker 1: Up that well, but you can't get down to the
- 31:08Speaker 1: promenade without going down a hill, can you. So if
- 31:11Speaker 1: you like, tell us about the course and if there's
- 31:14Speaker 1: been any headaches where you've been trying to reschedule it.
- 31:17Speaker 7: Remeasuring Yeah, So I mean I must say that Kent
- 31:20Speaker 7: County Council, folks in High District Council have been great.
- 31:23Speaker 7: So I Leo's with them first thing to see if
- 31:25Speaker 7: we can get a possibility of it being open, and
- 31:27Speaker 7: then you might recall that they did officially close it.
- 31:30Speaker 7: So I thought, this isn't going to happen, so try
- 31:33Speaker 7: to work around that, see if there was any way
- 31:35Speaker 7: we could do it, and it just wasn't for sure,
- 31:38Speaker 7: so I had to reroute it. So I did a
- 31:39Speaker 7: few trial runs myself. I did eight runs, all different
- 31:43Speaker 7: ways and things like that, and felt, you know, what
- 31:46Speaker 7: would this be like? And essentially I've moved it where
- 31:49Speaker 7: we've rerouted, so it's going to happen, which is the
- 31:52Speaker 7: main thing. So we're going to start outside the ground,
- 31:54Speaker 7: go down to the town, which is what we've always done.
- 31:57Speaker 7: There's a little loop at the top to begin with,
- 31:59Speaker 7: but get down the town, go round the town, so
- 32:02Speaker 7: it's nice to keep the town in. I want to
- 32:04Speaker 7: keep that involvement going on. And when we come to
- 32:06Speaker 7: the top of the road remembrance, we hook a right
- 32:08Speaker 7: and go up the Lees again to pass the Lees
- 32:12Speaker 7: Lift entrance and then all the way back up and
- 32:14Speaker 7: then we turn right into Dick'swell Road onto the two
- 32:17Speaker 7: five nine, which people may be familiar with. There by
- 32:20Speaker 7: the doctors and then we hook a left on the
- 32:22Speaker 7: path and we go down to Radne Cliff Crescent, so
- 32:25Speaker 7: it's where it bends round where the vets are Cooling
- 32:28Speaker 7: Road junction, so it goes round VIA's Round and then
- 32:32Speaker 7: goes down to the top of Radna Hill, which we
- 32:35Speaker 7: are familiar with because we've done that in.
- 32:36Speaker 5: The running club.
- 32:37Speaker 7: Goes down the Radney Hill and then goes through the
- 32:41Speaker 7: Riviera and they've been fantastic. The residents there have let
- 32:43Speaker 7: us have the rights of access and right away yeah
- 32:47Speaker 7: private road. Yeah, they're going to let it all open,
- 32:49Speaker 7: open the gates, so it's really good. And then we
- 32:51Speaker 7: get onto the seafront, onto the promenade, but we have
- 32:54Speaker 7: to go left to make up a bit of distance,
- 32:56Speaker 7: so effectively we're going to be going up past the
- 32:58Speaker 7: Mermaid Can back to wards posts and then do a
- 33:00Speaker 7: turn round and then come all the way back to Hive,
- 33:03Speaker 7: do the loop in Hive and then come back up
- 33:06Speaker 7: the Riviera and up that hill. So we do get
- 33:08Speaker 7: that little hill which is a little sting in the town. Yeah,
- 33:11Speaker 7: san Gate Hill is not too bad if anything, is
- 33:15Speaker 7: a bit longer, but it's not a shop. It won't
- 33:18Speaker 7: actually be on Sandgate Hill. It's actually on Radney Hill. Yeah,
- 33:21Speaker 7: it's the road that sort of goes sharp, which is
- 33:24Speaker 7: where we've done the training, the little sort of shorter
- 33:26Speaker 7: bit of present because it's less traffic. We can't we
- 33:30Speaker 7: want to get them off that too, Yeah of course, yeah,
- 33:32Speaker 7: so cancel being great today. They've cut all the trees
- 33:35Speaker 7: back for us, which is good. So it's all made
- 33:37Speaker 7: it safe and moved all the billiards and stuff, so we're.
- 33:40Speaker 2: Ready to roll, right.
- 33:42Speaker 1: I mean, I suppose you might have to wait for
- 33:44Speaker 1: feedback from the runners, but do you think if you're
- 33:46Speaker 1: successful you might keep that or you just got it
- 33:49Speaker 1: in your mind to switch it back to it?
- 33:50Speaker 7: In my mind switch back here because some people are
- 33:52Speaker 7: a bit disappointed, and the Roads Remembrance is such an
- 33:55Speaker 7: iconic road and I think to forget absolutely the history
- 33:59Speaker 7: and stuff goes on there.
- 34:00Speaker 5: People like to connect with that as well.
- 34:02Speaker 1: So I mean it sounds on paper it sounds easy enough,
- 34:06Speaker 1: but I'm sure you've had to jump through hoops to
- 34:08Speaker 1: get permissions, risk assessments, insurances.
- 34:10Speaker 6: Sure.
- 34:10Speaker 7: So our team of nice work who assists us have
- 34:14Speaker 7: been great, as you know the people there, so we've
- 34:17Speaker 7: liaised with UK Athletics to get permission and we've re
- 34:19Speaker 7: rooted it as you know, so we've rechecked it, we've
- 34:22Speaker 7: had it all course measured by a guy called Rob Bright.
- 34:25Speaker 7: He sorted it and then we had to apply it
- 34:27Speaker 7: to Ken County Council to get approval, which had done it.
- 34:29Speaker 7: So they've all gone through the hoops with us to
- 34:31Speaker 7: make it happen. So put the word out say look,
- 34:34Speaker 7: I don't want to cancel this. We need to get it.
- 34:36Speaker 7: We need to make it happen. And everyone's on board,
- 34:38Speaker 7: which is really really.
- 34:39Speaker 1: Good, right excellent, So very quickly, is there anything that
- 34:45Speaker 1: you need? I mean, how you fix the volunteers.
- 34:49Speaker 7: We've got a strong team of volunteers. If anyone wants
- 34:52Speaker 7: to come along, they're welcome to do so at eight
- 34:54Speaker 7: forty five, so it's outside the Grand on the leaves,
- 34:58Speaker 7: so we're going to be doing a marshall briefing. Anyone
- 35:00Speaker 7: is available, just come and see me and then we
- 35:02Speaker 7: can put them on the course. So we've got already
- 35:06Speaker 7: sixty five out and then we've also got the police
- 35:08Speaker 7: cadets coming. Oh yeah, we'd be over one hundred and
- 35:10Speaker 7: twenty which is amazing. So it's really good. And we've
- 35:13Speaker 7: got three water stations this year as well, so we've
- 35:16Speaker 7: had to put a lot more out. So it's going
- 35:19Speaker 7: to be interesting, but it's exciting and a lot of
- 35:22Speaker 7: runners are really keen. A lot of running clubs are thinking, wow,
- 35:25Speaker 7: this is going to be an interesting.
- 35:26Speaker 1: Yeah, different and it's nice to do the same run
- 35:29Speaker 1: every year, but yeah, sure, it's nice to do a
- 35:31Speaker 1: little different course. So you might be under pressure next
- 35:34Speaker 1: year to keep the course, absolutely.
- 35:35Speaker 7: But we need to keep that road remembrance as saying,
- 35:37Speaker 7: of course, we're losing the Coastal Park this year, so
- 35:39Speaker 7: we want to get that back because yeah it's nice.
- 35:41Speaker 1: Okay, right now, I know loads of money is going
- 35:46Speaker 1: to go for charities, but as so we've only just
- 35:49Speaker 1: we don't have a real struggle to get this in.
- 35:52Speaker 1: So can you just please name some of the charities
- 35:55Speaker 1: you think might benefit and quickly chuck in some sponsors
- 35:58Speaker 1: as well.
- 35:58Speaker 6: Yeah. Sure.
- 35:59Speaker 7: So the main charity this year is going to be
- 36:00Speaker 7: Touch Based Care. They're based in Tontine Street, they do
- 36:03Speaker 7: some great work, so they will receive fifty percent of
- 36:06Speaker 7: the profit and then the rest of it will go
- 36:09Speaker 7: to the Rotary Club, which will also help local charities.
- 36:12Speaker 7: Probably too short time to name all those, but we
- 36:15Speaker 7: support lots of local charities in the area.
- 36:17Speaker 5: Sponsors.
- 36:18Speaker 7: We've got a main sponsor which is Alkaline Transport, who
- 36:20Speaker 7: are great. We've got a few others which is tag Trees,
- 36:23Speaker 7: Folks in High District Council.
- 36:25Speaker 5: We've got oh gosh.
- 36:27Speaker 7: Gone blank, but we've got a few, but they're all
- 36:30Speaker 7: on the website. Anyone wants to have a look at
- 36:32Speaker 7: Folks and Rotary website and then hook into the half marathon.
- 36:35Speaker 7: It gives you all the information and if you can't
- 36:38Speaker 7: make it for the run, then come down check it out,
- 36:40Speaker 7: have a look. We've got the NHS coming this year
- 36:42Speaker 7: with a trailer, so they're going to do free health checks.
- 36:45Speaker 7: It doesn't matter who you are, what you are, you know,
- 36:47Speaker 7: if you just want a bit of advice or a
- 36:49Speaker 7: bit of a guidance and they're there to help.
- 36:52Speaker 2: Oh brilliant, just good.
- 36:53Speaker 1: And you've got a strong connection with the gurkhas Are
- 36:56Speaker 1: they involved at all this?
- 36:56Speaker 7: Yeah, they're coming down. They're going to be marshaling some
- 36:58Speaker 7: of them and we think some of the team but
- 37:00Speaker 7: there's a change in regiment at the moment, so you know,
- 37:02Speaker 7: it's all happening, so there might be some coming down
- 37:05Speaker 7: to run as well, so that'd be really good.
- 37:06Speaker 1: And in the past I'm not sure if it's this
- 37:08Speaker 1: one or the ten k, but you have teams of
- 37:10Speaker 1: local runners, haven't you.
- 37:11Speaker 7: Yes, So this year we've got all the running clubs
- 37:13Speaker 7: which we're familiar with, but just to let your listeners know,
- 37:16Speaker 7: we've got lots of running clubs coming down in you know, teams,
- 37:19Speaker 7: which is really good. We've got a couple of teams
- 37:22Speaker 7: from East Kent College running. I think Metro Line Security
- 37:25Speaker 7: have got one and yeah, I think they're the main ones.
- 37:28Speaker 7: Maybe Church and White as well.
- 37:29Speaker 1: Right, yeah, okay, last thing then ray. Finally, we've only
- 37:32Speaker 1: got about thirty seconds ago. Tell us what time and
- 37:36Speaker 1: whereabout and what time of kids races?
- 37:37Speaker 7: Okay, so it's going to be on the Lee's out
- 37:39Speaker 7: opposite the Grander start finish Children's race nine thirty and
- 37:44Speaker 7: the main race is at ten o'clock on Sunday.
- 37:47Speaker 1: That's coming right, and there are just a few late
- 37:50Speaker 1: entries which might go.
- 37:52Speaker 7: Yeah, I don't think there'll be any on the days
- 37:53Speaker 7: again online and book now, but thanks to everyone that's
- 37:55Speaker 7: supporting and all the runners good luck.
- 37:57Speaker 1: Okay, right, well we have done it now, we have
- 38:00Speaker 1: absolutely crushed it. And thanks for coming in. That's all
- 38:02Speaker 1: we can say. And I'll hope to see you there Sunday.
- 38:05Speaker 1: I hope the weather's nice and we've done a good
- 38:07Speaker 1: weather check. It don't look too bad, so
