- 0:09>> All right, we are back after a little two week hiatus. >> Yeah. Jesus.
- 0:14>> Some of us back a little bit more than others.
- 0:16>> Yeah, we're we're barely back. You were like not sure.
- 0:19>> But I miss you all too much to not come back. [laughter]
- 0:23>> So I apologize for my voice. >> Luke's sick, but it's not the same sick
- 0:27he was last week. He was sick last week and he's sick again this week. Different sickness.
- 0:33>> I think what happened last week was I was just sick last week. Didn't get out
- 0:36of bed, didn't eat, and that lowered my immunity. And then I've gone to work for
- 0:40a couple of days and then I've picked up something from work and now
- 0:43>> it's destroyed my throat. But I am sounding like 100% better now than I was
- 0:49>> even 24 hours ago. >> Yeah. Right. >> Wow. >> It still hurts. Thank you for uh
- 0:55soldiering on and rejoining. >> Yes. >> If you want to take a break at any
- 0:59point, let me know. I'm sure the listeners agree.
- 1:03>> I'm just going to try and remember when I need to cough, I'm going to try and hit mute.
- 1:06>> Okay. Very good. >> I'll do my best. >> And I'm here. Obviously, I'm good. My
- 1:11surgery went well. If anybody's worried or interested, surgery went very well.
- 1:15I'm I'm all good. So, >> yep. Somehow I caught the worst of your surgery.
- 1:19>> It seems that way. Yeah. Oh, I there were a couple of days there at the
- 1:26start though. I was like that the first night >> afterwards
- 1:30>> was one of the worst nights of my life. >> Well, that would be one of the first
- 1:33nights you'd spent in hospital, wouldn't it? >> It was the first night I've ever been in
- 1:37hospital since I was like a baby, I guess. Um, >> they don't let you sleep. They'll be
- 1:41checking you constantly. >> They tried. They're so they were so nice
- 1:44and they tried and I appreciated it. But like at one point I like woke up and the
- 1:49nurse was attempting to put a blood pressure thing on my arm while I was and
- 1:53and she was like, "Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you." And I was like, "You will wake me.
- 1:58>> You might as well just do it cuz this is a bit weird now." [laughter]
- 2:02>> Yeah. That's what I do. Just wake me. But I find that the time that they do
- 2:05come in to do it is just a time that you're actually falling back asleep again. >> Yeah.
- 2:09>> But I'm not one of those people. I've not this time, but the time before I had
- 2:14someone complaining that they were waking them up and I'm
- 2:18>> They're doing the job. They're making sure you don't die, mate. >> Yeah.
- 2:20>> Like, yeah. No, >> no, they were so nice. I tried to I
- 2:24tried to make sure I wasn't a dick and I tried to be nice because they were so
- 2:28nice and like I said, they have to put up with some [ __ ]
- 2:30>> And then there's only one time I got a bit annoyed and that's because I needed
- 2:34painkillers [laughter] >> and they were busy. So, I feel like even
- 2:40then I was not that bad. I was just like buzzing going, "If you could hurry up,
- 2:45I'd really appreciate it." [laughter] >> 5 seconds. >> Yeah.
- 2:51>> No, I'm happy you're on the mend. >> Yeah. Yeah. I'm surprised how how
- 2:55quickly I've rec. Apparently, they were they were good. I'm a good case
- 2:59apparently. It's good. >> Okay. Excellent. That's what you want.
- 3:01>> They resolved my issue, it seems. I had some more MRIs afterwards and uh I'm
- 3:06good. So going for checkup in another what 45 years or something and
- 3:12>> six months. Six months to see if the other kidney is still there. >> Yes.
- 3:15>> You talk about that on the show. >> I'm not sure.
- 3:17>> I don't even know. I don't think we rec I think it happened after it. Like there
- 3:20was the week before was a [ __ ] blur as well. >> Yeah.
- 3:23>> I learned I only have one kidney. Was born one kidney >> just forever.
- 3:27>> Yeah. Got to be my mid-40s before I figured that out. >> Yeah.
- 3:30>> And then uh Yeah. So that changed a few things but not majorly. I just have to
- 3:35be a bit more careful from now on than I ever have been.
- 3:39>> And look after your daughter's kidneys even more.
- 3:41>> Yeah, cuz I might need one of them. >> Yeah. >> Little tiny kidney. [laughter]
- 3:46>> Better than nothing. >> Take what you can get. >> Yeah,
- 3:50>> that's right. You're in America. There's lots of gun shootings there. There's
- 3:53plenty of kidneys. >> Unfortunately, that is true. >> That is true.
- 4:00>> But anyway, not making fun of America. Now, >> what what have I missed? Because I know
- 4:05I've missed Jesus. Let's see. What do you want to talk about? Um,
- 4:10let's do something fun first.
- 4:14That's fun. Um, oh, uh,
- 4:21let's see. There's a bunch of Marvel news. I'm sure people are following this
- 4:25now. I I am interested in the phenomenon where
- 4:30Marvel kind of just disappeared for a few years. Not disappeared, but like it
- 4:35just became less of a thing. >> Yes. And I think that's what they needed to do is just
- 4:41>> But and then everybody laughed because we were like, oh, they thought they
- 4:44needed to bring back >> Captain Robert Down Jr. >> Robert Downey Jr. and and Chris Evans
- 4:49and all those guys. And then except it it worked because now everybody gives a
- 4:55[ __ ] again. So like they were right, I guess. >> Well, even
- 5:01I don't know even The Last Spider-Man, which doesn't have them in it.
- 5:05>> Have you seen the new one? >> Yeah. >> Oh, okay. >> Good. >> Okay. All right.
- 5:11>> And and I quite like that there weren't really too many villains. There was
- 5:16really only one villain in it. The different bodies. The trailer made it
- 5:19seem like there were a bunch of them. >> Yes. >> H >> I don't know. Has it been out long
- 5:23enough to give you who the real villain is? Who they sort of rescue at the end of the day?
- 5:29>> I don't know. I do know. Okay. I know. This is one of the news articles in here
- 5:33is I know who Satie Sync is now. That was a whole big secret. And it's not a
- 5:37secret now because obviously people were going to talk about it.
- 5:40>> So So well then Yeah. That that's it. That's the >> That's the villain.
- 5:46>> Yes. Oh, interesting. >> Gray was the villain.
- 5:53>> What? All right, I'm gonna have to watch this [ __ ] movie. It
- 5:56>> It's It's good. I quite like it. And I also like the story between
- 6:03was she's MJ again now, isn't she? Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Between Tommens and Dia.
- 6:08>> Yep. [laughter] I think aka that [ __ ] couple that's in everything now.
- 6:15Oh, I can't say anything. >> Why? >> They're married.
- 6:21>> No, no. I'm not the movie. >> Yeah. No, no, but I'm saying Tom Holland
- 6:25and Zindaya are in everything now. >> Yeah. >> As a couple.
- 6:28>> After we're told not to hook up, >> were they? I didn't know that.
- 6:33>> They do that a lot when young characters sort of sort of
- 6:36>> You're going to ruin the show or the show or whatever.
- 6:38>> Okay. If you break up later. And that's even that goes far back as the Brady Bunch
- 6:43>> really. So yeah, the Brady Bunch, the oldest son and
- 6:48>> Marsha Brady, evidently they started to get a bit close and the producer put him
- 6:53aside and went, "Look, this is not good. Look, if it goes out, it's bad." She's
- 6:57got a lot of hot friends, though, so [laughter] maybe. And and that's what I believe
- 7:03happened. You just banged all her friends. >> Oh, and putting in Luke terms.
- 7:09>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Colloquially.
- 7:12>> Yeah. Um, in other Spider-Man brand new
- 7:16day news, uh, a screening was evacuated
- 7:21in, uh, in, let's see, Kartagena, Colombia
- 7:27after [laughter] somebody just started ripping up a storm, farting
- 7:34up the theater >> to the point they evacuated.
- 7:39Oh my god, how bad. >> Uhhuh. >> And I bet you that person was not taking
- 7:45responsibility for it. [laughter] >> Footage from the incident quickly went
- 7:50viral on social media, showing stunned viewers pouring into a hallway, one of
- 7:54whom dressed in a Spider-Man costume, calling someone on the phone. [laughter] >> Yeah,
- 8:01>> I do like the fact that like even watching people like there's a bit of
- 8:05laughter there. Like it's not they're not angry angry but
- 8:09>> No no no no but the theater didn't stop the movie like they these people
- 8:14evacuated on their own cho of their own choice I so it's a bit of a bit of an
- 8:18exaggeration. >> Um >> well I do hope that they did get like a
- 8:21ticket back because even though that's what the cinema's doing.
- 8:26>> The theater has not issued any kind of statement. So you know what I don't
- 8:31know. I don't know, but I sort of hope so because you shouldn't have to put up. That's why
- 8:38I hate going to I used to hate going to the movies is because they were full and
- 8:42you have people on their phones and people talking and
- 8:46>> it would really frustrate me. So, shut up. We're here to watch a movie. >> When I saw
- 8:50>> I could understand if you sort of giggled and spoke something a little
- 8:53about, but it's the people who are >> Yeah. When I saw the Odyssey, the woman next to me
- 8:59>> got her phone out a fair bit at the start and I was like, I'm gonna have to
- 9:04throw that thing. >> Yeah. >> Cuz it's cuz it's too [ __ ] bright, >> right?
- 9:08>> And I don't think people understand. Like they'll try and go like keep it down and No.
- 9:12>> No. It's [ __ ] annoying. >> Blasting light and annoying everyone to
- 9:16your side and behind you. >> Yeah. It's super annoying. It's like
- 9:18like literally making me squint when you do that. >> Yep. And you can't not be drawn to it
- 9:23because a flash that's right next to you. >> But but she stopped. >> Excellent.
- 9:27>> Cuz I was like, I'm going to toss that [ __ ] thing down there. [laughter] >> Yeah.
- 9:32>> Um people speculated that this might have been a stink bomb prank. Uh but
- 9:37that's just online speculation >> just because like >> I mean it is
- 9:42>> felt some bad farts, but like >> not that bad.
- 9:45>> Not that bad. Not that I'm I'd be I'd be >> everybody would have to leave
- 9:49>> and it would only last like a a little bit but the sink bombs will
- 9:55>> around. So >> yes, >> but still why should you have to miss
- 10:01out on watching enjoying the movie because of someone putting a stink bomb?
- 10:04I know it's not the cinemas fault either. >> No, no, I know. Yeah.
- 10:08>> Anyone who ruins my movie should be shot. >> I mean maybe they did. I just don't
- 10:12know. It just they've not said anything. But actually, it's why I go to days I go
- 10:17to the movies now are Monday and Tuesday. >> So, no one's there. >> No one's there.
- 10:21>> Yeah. >> I go in the evenings. It's I mean, movie cinemas are pretty quiet here anyway.
- 10:26So, >> yeah. I haven't been to a packed cinema in
- 10:30>> the Odyssey was packed. That's the only That's the last packed thing.
- 10:34>> But I think that was more so for the IMAX then. I think you had for normal
- 10:37screening, you probably would have been >> Could be. Yeah, probably true.
- 10:41And then midnight screamings packed. >> Midnight Screamings was the last time I
- 10:47went to a pack cinema, which would have been Star Wars days.
- 10:52>> I don't want to remind you how long ago that was now.
- 10:57>> God, what was the last Star Wars midnight? It would have been Solo.
- 11:01>> Oh, yeah. I didn't go to that. I think the last midnight one I went to was
- 11:06Revenge of the Sith. Maybe. No, >> no, no. You would have seen Force Awakens at me, right?
- 11:13>> You're absolutely right. You're absolutely right. And then uh I think
- 11:17Last Jedi I saw just a normal screening cuz I knew [laughter] >> Yeah. at that.
- 11:24>> Yeah. >> I will say >> I don't know
- 11:31as much as I [ __ ] on The Last Jedi and I don't like it.
- 11:36I've come around to the idea that
- 11:39he tried to do something different and I respect that, but I just don't think I
- 11:45still don't think it worked and I don't like the movie. But I do think
- 11:48>> he missed the mark. >> No, no, I do too. But I I also I can see
- 11:54if you put the Force Awakens and The Last Jedi next to each other, I do think
- 12:00J.J. Abrams did the easy thing. >> Yes. >> And like which he's good at, which is
- 12:06like the nostalgia, the >> which why I love the Star Trek movies.
- 12:10>> Yeah. It's like a remake. And The Last Jedi tried to be like, "No, no, I'm
- 12:14going to do something completely different." And then it just didn't
- 12:15work. Look, the thing I go back to the last Jedi, the thing that absolutely
- 12:19annoys me is you've got Luke. Apart from Luke going to kill his nephew because he
- 12:23had a bad dream um [clears throat] was the fact that Luke was going like the
- 12:27Jedi teachings are useless and all that and trying to move away from it. And
- 12:31then at the end, no, Ray saved it. I was like, "No, get away from the whole good
- 12:34and dark light dark side. Go to the middle. There's a >> Yeah. >> in between." And that
- 12:40>> because it was like it was going to do it and then it didn't. >> Yeah.
- 12:43And it could have been a good way for like Kylo and Ren to actually end their
- 12:48story arc with it being sort of that middle ground. Doesn't have to be.
- 12:52>> But no, you you chickenened out for but you >> Yeah, you compromised this character and
- 12:57then and then chickened out. >> Yeah. >> I don't know.
- 13:02Anyway, people are sick of hearing it. >> I tell you what, I'm drinking a Va
- 13:07Cruiser double and the cool liquid on my throat's feeling quite nice. Is it? >> Yes,
- 13:13>> I'm drinking coffee. >> I only have two more of them, so we'll see how we go.
- 13:19>> Um, in other Marvel news, >> Mhm.
- 13:24>> Ryan Gosling, aka Bae, [laughter]
- 13:30is the Ghost Rider. >> Yes. I don't know what to think about it.
- 13:37>> I mean, >> I think it's a strange choice for him, honestly. I love Ryan Gosling.
- 13:43>> Yeah, I love him. I think there's better >> Yeah. I don't know. We'll see.
- 13:47>> Better for him. >> I I can't imagine it, but I'm like, I'm
- 13:51down. Like, he's going to be I would imagine more stoic than [ __ ] Nicholas Cage was.
- 13:58>> You know what I mean? Like, >> yeah. >> Oh, this is something I did hear about
- 14:03while I did hear about is there may not be a Barbie 2 now.
- 14:07>> What? Why? Because of Ryan and what's her name? >> Marggo Robbie.
- 14:14>> Yeah. Asking for more money. >> Oh, give them more money. [laughter]
- 14:20>> Yeah. >> How much make you money? Just give it to them.
- 14:23>> How much did they get the first time? I get Let me So much [ __ ] money. Do
- 14:27[snorts] you know uh we talked about this the other week
- 14:31about uh do we No, I think we talked about this specifically so we don't need
- 14:35to. I was going to say that the the a lot of the budget of Moana 2 just went to Rock. We
- 14:41>> talked about that, right? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> That's [ __ ] ridiculous.
- 14:46>> And Yeah. And I don't I do understand why cuz he's not a lot of stuff anymore.
- 14:52I think he's still trying to ask for that. >> Yeah.
- 14:56>> He better Yeah, he's got to get it while he can. I think he's tapering off.
- 15:01>> I think he's been tapering off for quite some time. And not just due to
- 15:06just due to the fact that we all found out he's a dick
- 15:09>> kind of. Yeah. I think well you have your moment I think like like was joking
- 15:15about before. I think right now >> Tom is in dire and or and Ryan Gosling's
- 15:20having a moment too. Yeah. >> I mean I've always liked Ryan Gosling but he's having
- 15:23>> he's really made a >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Stay bodies come back.
- 15:26>> Yeah. He's been doing a lot of good stuff lately and he's having a moment.
- 15:28take and you got to take advantage of it >> cuz Tommens and I are hot right now but
- 15:33they won't always be some skeleton will come out like Alan Richson right we've
- 15:38got some Alan Richardson news uh everybody loves Alan Richardson at the moment
- 15:43>> how's the news of Alan Richardson oh no sorry I was Alan Rickman Alen >> dead forever
- 15:49>> Alan Richardson from the aka reacher aka >> uh one of my favorite actors at the
- 15:55moment uh he's got had this uh movie on
- 16:00Netflix, War Machine, that everybody's [ __ ] loved. I've got to watch it.
- 16:04It's like a science fiction army thing I got to watch. Uh and also Reach is doing
- 16:08really huge, right? And he's just really he's really famous right now. [ __ ]
- 16:12make sure you take advantage of it, Alan, because
- 16:15>> and and he's the you know, we had the he had the incident with the guy on the
- 16:18bike, remember? We talked about that. >> Yep. That guy who was just there to just
- 16:23cause trouble. He talked about it on Dax Shepard's podcast recently and said,
- 16:29>> I mean, you saw the video. So, you know, the guy was he said he did clarify the
- 16:34guy was drunk. That's he says he mentions it briefly on the video, but he
- 16:38said yes, he could smell the guy was drunk and realized, oh, that this is just
- 16:42>> that's what this is. Like, the guy's drunk. >> Um,
- 16:46>> but then like his kids were there and the guy was attacking him and he was
- 16:50like, so I [ __ ] punched him. >> It wasn't attacking. was like when he's
- 16:53trying to ride away was pushed him over. Yeah. Pushed him over
- 16:58and then Yeah. He was like um but anyway he said that the worst thing about it
- 17:02for him now is like cuz the police were like no no no you're good. No charges
- 17:04don't. And he was like I don't want to press charge against this guy but now
- 17:07his kids won't ride with him because they're scared. >> Oh that sucks.
- 17:10>> Yeah. I was like, "Oh." Because he said that was he's doing a big motorbike
- 17:14movie coming up and he'd been riding around with his kids like not fast or
- 17:18anything, but the bike he had >> is loud because it's for the movie. >> Yeah.
- 17:23>> And he said he thinks that's why the guy got pissed off.
- 17:26>> And I could understand going out having a words cuz if you just hear like a loud
- 17:31bite going round and around and around. >> Yeah. >> I can understand getting annoyed.
- 17:35>> He denies that they were he thinks he said that they just it was just a couple
- 17:39of laps and the guy was drunk. Even if even if that
- 17:45grain assault like yeah I got to believe Allan but imagine it had been around
- 17:48around that's not the way to handle it by driving your bike in front of someone
- 17:52else and starting to start a fight. It's a >> like he ran out in front of him and and
- 17:57while Yeah. >> Yeah. Like it's guys can you shut it down for a bit?
- 18:03>> Yeah. just calmly ask him >> and because I mean
- 18:07>> you never know for sure with celebrities but >> yes >> it seems like if you asked Alan
- 18:13Richardson could you not do that he'd be like okay I'm sorry like he just seems agreeable
- 18:18>> yes >> unless you're assaulting him in front of his kids [laughter] then he's going to
- 18:22punch the [ __ ] out of you because he's enormous >> I don't know
- 18:26>> he would have been holding himself back >> I he was I'm guarantee he was like he
- 18:33would have destroyed that guy in a second. >> Yeah. So, he's having a moment too. Uh which
- 18:39is happy for him, but like like you said, you got to take advantage of it.
- 18:42Uh Dave Batista is having got some Datista news. I won't skip to it yet
- 18:46because we're jumping around a lot. >> Yeah. That's all right.
- 18:50>> Dave Batist. Oh, you were apologizing to the watchers, not me.
- 18:53>> I was apologizing to everyone. Okay. >> Because I know I'm a bit everywhere at
- 18:57the moment. >> So, Ryan Gosling is Ghost Rider. Yes.
- 19:02>> Uh, Emma Frost has been cast apparently. Who is uh [ __ ] [snorts] Why can't I
- 19:09think of her? >> Does she have a [ __ ] X-Men name?
- 19:14She's one of the X-Men. Emma Frost. Does she have like a name other than that?
- 19:17No, she doesn't. Okay, that's why I couldn't think of it. Um,
- 19:23she's like the ice lady. She's like, >> so like Storm but with less powers.
- 19:29>> Yeah. And she's also traditionally she doesn't wear a whole lot. Um. >> Ah.
- 19:35>> And uh Samara Weaving has been cast. >> I love Samara Weaving.
- 19:41>> Well, she has been cast as Emma Frost. So, uh probably they'll give her more
- 19:45clothes than the comics did. >> Yeah. >> But, uh >> people are very happy about that news.
- 19:51>> I'm having her. I think this is her moment coming up as well. She's been in
- 19:54quite a lot lately. >> Yeah. Could be. Ready or not, Ready or
- 19:57Not too, they're the only two that popped to my head.
- 20:00>> Yeah. [laughter] No, no, she's a She's a actually, come on. What else is she in?
- 20:05There was something else. She's Australian, which is obviously a plus. Uh,
- 20:12>> Babysitter, what was I thinking? The babysitter.
- 20:15>> Guns of Kimbo. I was thinking of that. >> I like The Babysitter. The sequel is
- 20:19actually better than the first one. >> And um Scream six, she was in
- 20:24>> Oh, that's right. And she was the daughter of Bill and Ted.
- 20:28>> Oh, that's right. That's right. In uh the whatever the Yeah. >> the new one.
- 20:35>> Yeah. So, she's uh she's an X-Men or ex person as well. >> Yep.
- 20:41>> So, that's news. Uh I'm assum assuming there'll be more announcements about
- 20:44that stuff cuz they need more X-Men. >> Yeah. Yeah, it's going to be interesting
- 20:48to see who's who's coming back, who's being recast for all of that cuz
- 20:54>> Well, they're all very young, so I'm like I'm not going to know who any of
- 20:57these people are like within reason. Like I know SD Sync and I know Samara
- 21:02Weaving. I mean, maybe I'll know them. I just I don't know.
- 21:04>> Well, you've known the first two, these two. >> That's true. I just I I know Samara
- 21:09Weaving. >> I will give it to you. It took me a long
- 21:12time to work regard Oh, that's her from that when I was watching Spider-Man.
- 21:17It took me a while to work out it was her from Stranger Things. I took me a moment.
- 21:22>> No. Well, I see. I I knew >> because she's also grown up since then as well.
- 21:27>> True. Well, they grew up while they were making it though.
- 21:29>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But no, she's >> even since then. >> She Okay.
- 21:33>> She Yeah. Well, she's also Yeah. Cass is a young adult other than a teenager as
- 21:39well. So, >> yeah. Because that's what she is now. >> Yes. [laughter]
- 21:43>> Yeah. Because it took so [ __ ] long to make the show. Yeah. >> Um, Blade
- 21:49is uh still going nowhere. And Maharasha Ali,
- 21:55Mahashala Ali, I'm butchering his name. I apologize. He's not played anymore, so
- 21:59I'm not going to have to say his name. >> Well, I think after
- 22:08>> Wesley Cypes came back and went, there's only one blade. >> Mhm.
- 22:12>> You could not come and then replace him. H I don't know about that. They have to
- 22:18Well, they replaced um Fenki Jensen with Sadie Sync, you know.
- 22:25>> Yeah, but with Blade, >> they can't bring back anything if Blade's not there.
- 22:30>> Well, they could bring Wesy Snipes back as a joke. I don't think they could
- 22:33bring him back for real. >> I I don't think you need to bring Blade
- 22:36back as a character apart from as a joke. >> Well, they're making all the Marvel
- 22:39stuff, so but yeah, fair enough. I guess don't they don't have to. But uh but I
- 22:45mean this guy I mean he's a serious actor, right? So >> Oh he
- 22:51>> well I mean it's kind of a loss for them uh in a way like he's a good actor. I've
- 22:56seen him in I mean the thing main thing I've seen him in is um
- 23:00Alita Battle Angel. He was in that but he's in like uh the Green Book and
- 23:06what's that other one? Moonlight Oscar. He won uh Oscars for both of those
- 23:11actually. And then uh yeah, he was gonna be Blade. But I mean, they're just still
- 23:16spinning their wheels on that movie. >> Yeah. I'm I'm of a thought that there
- 23:23will never be another Blade movie. >> Oh, yeah.
- 23:28>> I think we had our Blade Blade movies. I think he may make an appearance, but I
- 23:34don't think he's going to be I don't think he's movie again.
- 23:38>> No, I don't know what that means. >> Character. >> Yeah. Yeah.
- 23:44>> Well, look, if you're going to have Robert Downey Jr. and
- 23:48all the Chrises and everything staying around, why not just keep Blade around
- 23:52like he sits around as well? [snorts] >> There's been a lot of talk about,
- 23:58you know, Chris Evans is back. Obviously, everybody knows because he's
- 24:01in the trailer and people are like, why did they put him in the trailer? It's
- 24:04like because everybody knew. They don't want to waste, you know, just just get
- 24:10it out of the way. Like >> it's just easier sometimes.
- 24:14>> Yeah. Like if they tried to keep it a secret, it's Yeah. It's silly. Just
- 24:19>> it's like when um it was Thor Ragnarok and you saw that the idea of the Hulk
- 24:24being in it was meant to be a big secret. And if you watch the movie, you
- 24:28can see how they were leading up to it with lots of stuff being in the
- 24:30background with like >> Yeah. >> holding up signs for this greenfaced guy
- 24:35and stuff. And then they came out and told everyone. And I think it's because
- 24:38you can't keep a secret like that big for so long. >> Yes.
- 24:42>> And as I say, spoilers don't change the way people enjoy a movie.
- 24:46>> No. Apparently, they make it more enjoyable. >> Yeah.
- 24:49>> Uh cuz you not Yeah. You get a chance to process the spoiler. >> Yes.
- 24:55>> Uh actually, on that note, uh I'm going to put a note in.
- 24:59I don't want to talk about it right now because again I don't want to jump
- 25:02around as much but I have
- 25:05uh here we go. I'm just going to put that in. >> Okay.
- 25:11>> Because I do want to say a brief thing about something. Um >> all right.
- 25:17>> Thank you. Uh and then so the other news is is that Avengers Doomsday is coming
- 25:22out obviously end of the year. Um everyone's [ __ ] excited about it in a
- 25:27way that they've not been excited for Marvel movies. I was like, "Oh, I I I
- 25:30want to watch it. Maybe I should catch up because I've been off, obviously." >> Yep.
- 25:34>> For a couple of weeks. And I was like, "Maybe I'll watch some Marvel movies."
- 25:37I've probably got one or two I haven't seen. >> There's [ __ ] 10 I haven't seen.
- 25:42>> Yeah, there's probably be a lot. >> I went on Disney Plus and I was like
- 25:47going back and I'm like, "Haven't seen that. Haven't seen that. Forgot that
- 25:50exists. Haven't seen that. Forgot that exists. Haven't seen that. Haven't seen
- 25:53that." And I was just like, "Fuck. Okay, forget it. I [laughter] haven't got time
- 25:56for this." For a lot of it, you could have just watched Fantastic 4.
- 26:02>> I I want to watch that. I did not watch that. >> You should watch that one cuz I think
- 26:05that's definitely leading into >> Yeah. >> this. >> I would like to watch
- 26:11the Captain America one that has Harrison Ford in it because it has
- 26:15Harrison Ford in it, but I don't know if it's worth bothering.
- 26:18>> I haven't seen that one either. The other one that is probably worth
- 26:21watching as well is Thunderbolts. >> Okay. because >> after seeing Brand New Day, that's
- 26:28definitely still they're definitely moving forward with that with some of
- 26:31the characters at least. >> Interesting. All right. Well, I'll watch
- 26:34those two. I know that there's um there's the second Black Panther that I
- 26:38just never watched. >> Um >> racist. >> Well, [laughter] the thing cuz I'm just
- 26:45so [ __ ] useless these days. I saw it and I was like, "Oh, I really wanted to
- 26:48watch that." Uh never did. There's um >> Did I tell you about the stupid thing I
- 26:53did for that? >> No. >> I thought that he had died after a
- 26:59filming of Black Panther 2, >> didn't he? >> No. Or he might have, but he wasn't in
- 27:04Black Panther 2. But I spent the entire movie waiting for him to appear in Black
- 27:09Panther 2 thinking >> I would have done that too if I'd
- 27:12watched it last week [laughter] cuz I just You just told me that and I was
- 27:15like, "No, he was okay." >> Yeah. No, I thought that he'd filmed
- 27:18that and that was his last. Yeah, right. >> Big thing. But no, he wasn't in it and
- 27:22it was Yeah. And I was Oh, I was very confused. >> They've announced the new Black Panther
- 27:292. Um, just so you know, David Johnson will be
- 27:34Black Panther in Black Panther 3. >> Okay. >> Um, so I guess nobody was Black Panther
- 27:40in Black Panther 2. >> No. >> Okay. >> I don't quite remember it either. It was
- 27:46a long time ago, but I I just remember going, "Where is he?" [laughter]
- 27:52>> Wow. >> Uh, okay. So, I got to watch all those. There's like Oh, yeah. The Marvels.
- 27:57There's like There's a lot of them. >> See, the Marvels I skipped.
- 28:02>> Thing is, >> I'm sexist. >> I don't think any of them are bad. Yeah,
- 28:06exactly. We're a bunch of sexist. Racist. Well, I No, I'm racist and
- 28:09sexist. They were just sexist. >> Just sexist. Yes, >> that's fair.
- 28:13>> Um, no. Well, I think it just cuz I was trying to keep up with them like Thor,
- 28:18Love and Thunder. >> I just burned out. Oh, Thor, Love, and Thunder.
- 28:23I liked it. Uh, >> but was not wasn't about anything. >> It was just Yeah, exactly.
- 28:30>> Saying goodbye to characters and >> it was just like, eh, there's some funny
- 28:33bits. I'd like to see Nelly Portman buff. >> Yeah. But then the whole thing was about
- 28:39just getting rid of her character and I'm >> Yeah.
- 28:41>> I liked her character. Yeah, [laughter] I want to say goodbye to Nelly B, man.
- 28:46>> And now she's gotten even awesome. Even more awesome.
- 28:50>> Yeah. What are you getting rid of her for? Like her. Um,
- 28:56>> the they got fined at Comic-Con. I don't quite understand this. Um, at
- 29:03Comic-Con, they had a big sign. Basically, they there's like a bridge in
- 29:08San Diego over >> like a a walkway or a road
- 29:13>> and they covered it up >> with a big doomsday thing and they've
- 29:19been fined by the city >> because I I'm trying to pause this. I think
- 29:26because it's a landmark, uh the city said it was disruptive to
- 29:31the flow of uh because of concerns about safety and fears it could disrupt the flow of
- 29:37people during the year's biggest event because >> in this place where I'm looking at the
- 29:42picture of it now where there are all these people walking >> and all these sort of
- 29:49>> fences lit up showing them where to walk. That was going to
- 29:52>> Well, I don't know if it's because this does happen at events like at PAX.
- 29:57I'm sure you've experienced this where if there's something too interesting >> Yes.
- 30:02>> you can't [ __ ] get anywhere because everybody stops to look at
- 30:04>> like the second they got those, oh, we're yelling and we're giving away stuff
- 30:08>> or a cosplay that's particularly interesting and everybody just blocks
- 30:11the whole [ __ ] walkway. >> Get out the way. I need to be somewhere.
- 30:15>> Yeah. And they have signs that say, don't take cosplay photos here because
- 30:18you're [ __ ] annoying everybody. But they do it anyway. Um, so I wonder if
- 30:22it's that. Uh, although I mean >> I'm looking at >> it's not that interesting. It's like
- 30:28it's it's cool. >> If I was to take a photo of this, this
- 30:32would be like one photo with the camera and you move on. You're not even taking backups.
- 30:37>> But when you've got like hundreds of thousands of people doing that, I guess.
- 30:40But anyway, they've been fined $160,000
- 30:43for uh for that for doing that. Oh, I I hope they'll make that money back
- 30:50somehow. >> Yeah, I know Disney can afford it, but I
- 30:53just thought it was interesting because I don't quite get it, but uh >> you know,
- 30:59>> I could understand if it's this landmark and you're going to damage it or
- 31:02something and you didn't >> No, safety concerns specifically, but yeah,
- 31:08>> I mean, it could just be that they're just worried people are now going to
- 31:12block a [ __ ] road looking at this thing. But then they put big billboards
- 31:17up all the time. I don't >> It's not even a bridge.
- 31:19>> No, it's Sorry. The bridge is not like >> Yeah, if you scroll just a
- 31:26>> Hey, here's this boardwalk sign across the road. Yeah, it looks like a walkway.
- 31:31That's why I said bridge, but it's not. Yeah, like a
- 31:35>> They did a lot more to it than I thought they did, though.
- 31:39>> Yeah, it's quite If you look at the photo of what it normally looks like,
- 31:41it's not that big. It's like, you know, like like a gateway kind of thing that's
- 31:46like, you know, welcome to [ __ ] >> something.
- 31:51Yeah, whatever it usually says. [laughter] >> It probably says San Diego Union. No,
- 31:57that's the paper. It says
- 32:00>> uh San Diego's Gas Lamp Quarter. >> Oh, it's it's not just one fine. It's a
- 32:07whole slew of fines that rolled up into one. >> Okay. I think I might actually have been
- 32:11here before. But >> so according to the paper, City Fishers
- 32:15gave Marvel and Outdoor multiple chances to put up or remove the ad. >> Oh,
- 32:20>> not to put up or remove. >> They started with $10,000 fine on
- 32:24Tuesday, 10,000 on Wednesday, 20,000 Thursday, 30,000 Friday, 40,000
- 32:30Saturday, and finally 50,000 for the total. So they they paid for this they
- 32:35treated this as advertising. This is their advertising budget. So they said,
- 32:40"Can we do this?" They said, "No, they did it anyway." All right. >> Take it down.
- 32:45>> Yeah. >> So, do not feel sorry for them at all. They had this in their budget.
- 32:52[laughter] >> Somebody made a decision.
- 32:56Well, anyway, Avengers Doomsday coming out 18th of December, which everybody
- 33:02knows now because of this big [ __ ] sign. >> Yeah.
- 33:06>> Uh, and everyone's going to watch it anyway. Yes.
- 33:09It's like they wasted $160,000 cuz >> everybody here that is going to this
- 33:16event knows this is coming out. >> Yeah. >> They're not here to find out that
- 33:20>> there's no one at Comic- Con who doesn't know about this. [laughter]
- 33:23At least not many people. >> Yes. >> Yeah. Uh I want to talk about something
- 33:29else. I want to talk about this uh Kickstarter that we were our attention
- 33:35was brought to. Um, it's called Region Locked and it is a documentary about
- 33:42Australian video games. >> So, they've got a Kickstarter running
- 33:46right now. Uh, it's got two weeks to go. So, by the time you hear this, there'll
- 33:51be just over a week to go. So, if this sounds interesting, act now.
- 33:55>> Now, you don't have time to sit on it. Um, basically it's it's a it's a
- 34:00documentary about uh the Australian retro
- 34:05game industry. So, I think older games
- 34:10that were made in Australia and I think they've got lined up a bunch of
- 34:14interviews. Uh 70 plus participants lined up to uh to do interviews
- 34:20including the people behind The Hobbit, Way of the Exploding Fist, Bad Street
- 34:24Brawler, Hungry Horus, Fist 2, The Legend Continues, Rock and Wrestle, just
- 34:30a lot of old uh you know retro games that were made in
- 34:35Australia. And I'm sure this would be very interesting.
- 34:39>> It would be. And I'm backing it right now. >> There you go.
- 34:43>> I'm not doing the $350 one day though. I'm not doing that. >> That's fair.
- 34:49Uh, yeah, there's like merchant stuff there if you're interested. But I mean,
- 34:52this just sounds really interesting and I I mean based on the fact that I would
- 34:56like to watch it, I would Yes, >> I will also back it. So, um, it's a
- 35:01series, I should say. Uh, a documentary series. I don't know if I was clear
- 35:05about that. So, there's like, uh, here there's like a a synopsis of the two
- 35:09episodes, first two episodes. Um, uh, episode one, at the edge of the
- 35:15world, in the early 1980s, Australia was isolated from the burgeoning electronics
- 35:19industry. From this void emerged a rogue band of hobbyists and academic rule
- 35:22breakers who dared to build a video game industry from the ground up. And it's
- 35:28got stuff about the Commodore 64, so that will be of particular interest to me.
- 35:33All right, let me give me two seconds. I'm just going to put in my password.
- 35:38>> Oh, wow. He's literally just doing it right now.
- 35:40>> My two factor authentication. Sorry. My password was already there.
- 35:43>> You just read that code out if you want. >> No, it's fine. >> Okay.
- 35:47>> I don't know what it is. I've already used it. Um,
- 35:54>> yeah, my bad. >> Look at that. I understand. Pledged.
- 35:59>> There you go. So yeah, this is due out um let's see,
- 36:05December next year, I think is the Yeah, >> but look, if it does sound like
- 36:10something you're interested to, jump on it now cuz it's got a long way to go. >> Yeah,
- 36:16>> short time to get there. >> Yeah, exactly. So >> to my Cannonball friends, not
- 36:21Cannonball. >> What
- 36:25>> What movie am I thinking of? I don't know. >> Smoking the Bandit.
- 36:31>> Oh, Smoky and the Bandit. >> Long cannibal run.
- 36:37>> Um, yeah. So, I mean, this looks great. Uh, check it out if it's of interest and,
- 36:43uh, yeah, if you want to see it, support them and get in now because, uh, yeah,
- 36:46they've got a couple of weeks to go. And like I said, by the time you hear this,
- 36:48it'll be, uh, it'll be just over a week. So, yeah. Um, yeah. Again, it's going to
- 36:53cover the Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum, and AmIgga, which I mean, that [ __ ]
- 36:56interests me. I'm assuming other people our age are also
- 37:02>> time back then cuz I think a lot of people just didn't they didn't buy a lot
- 37:06of games back then. >> Everyone just had copies of games that people had.
- 37:11>> It's funny to think back how prevalent >> in like
- 37:17>> cuz where we grew up was not a big city, especially when we were young. It was
- 37:22like the middle of [ __ ] nowhere almost when we were little. Um, but
- 37:27there was still a huge Commod 64 pirate game industry. Like
- 37:33>> it's amazing to me to look back and think about how much stuff I had access
- 37:37to considering where we were. Like
- 37:39>> Yes. But yeah, you it wasn't that you it
- 37:45was easier to get a copy of something than it was to buy a copy of something.
- 37:50>> Yes. Yes. Yeah. Because even if I went to the games wizard, they probably
- 37:53didn't have it. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. It's But it's like, how did that
- 37:56happen? You know what that they should look into that? That should be documentary.
- 38:01>> How the [ __ ] did all that software get to my house? Like like how >> like >> Yeah,
- 38:08>> cuz I just remember like I'd come back and then
- 38:11>> my dad was in the Navy just go he come back, oh yeah, I've got all these copies
- 38:15of games now. There you go. >> Yeah. >> Okay, thanks. that it's sort of like got
- 38:20all these games but no idea. >> Yeah, my it must have been from my dad
- 38:24at but there was like a just had a big box of discs that just had stuff on it.
- 38:27It's like how did I get all that? Where did who who made all those copies?
- 38:32>> Cuz wasn't like making copies was a fast thing either. Like someone had to sit
- 38:36down and make those >> if it was in cassette which was uh where
- 38:41a lot of my Commodore 64 games early on were. had to have a double cassette deck
- 38:45and then you had literally had to in real time play the
- 38:47>> real time. Yeah. It was one to one. It was no if you had like 60 minutes that
- 38:52was well no be 120. You just >> two hours of your life's gone.
- 38:57>> Yeah, that has a magical time in my mind.
- 39:02Commodore 64. Loved it. Anyway, uh yeah, so check it out. Region
- 39:09locked. Uh we'll link to it in the show notes. Check it out. Um, and this is for
- 39:13episode This is for episode one and two, I should clarify. Yes. Uh, this is just
- 39:17to cover the creation of episode one and two. Uh, yeah.
- 39:23Uh, something else I watched this week, just briefly, I watched Send Help, the
- 39:27Sam Ramy horror movie. Horror in quotes. >> It is a horror movie. Have you you've seen it?
- 39:33>> Is it horror? I wouldn't call that horror. >> No, it is a little bit. It's more of a
- 39:37thriller, I suppose. >> Yeah. >> I mean, it's very [ __ ] Sam Ramy. I
- 39:42like I loved it for that. But what a strange movie
- 39:46>> it was and I didn't expect it to end the way it did.
- 39:51>> No, I really liked it. It I'll say this and I said this to Ch at the time is I
- 39:57had no idea how the [ __ ] that movie was going to end. No idea. Like I I give him credit
- 40:03>> cuz when you start it it's like the horrible boss and the girls be pass over
- 40:08promotion and then you think oh they're going to learn to work together and then
- 40:14>> No. [laughter] >> Yeah. No, I really enjoyed it. Kept me
- 40:19guessing. It's got lots of It's got a lot of be warned a lot of Sam Ramy gross out stuff.
- 40:26>> Yes. >> Lots of fluids. [laughter] So,
- 40:32I really enjoyed it, but but yeah, very odd in a good way.
- 40:37>> Yes. No, definitely worth a watch. And it's on streaming now, so definitely
- 40:40definitely worth a watch. >> Yeah. And and really good performances.
- 40:43Rachel McAdams is great in it. Uh, whoever that guy is who played the boss. Also great.
- 40:50>> It's a good movie, but not for everybody. I don't know how to describe
- 40:54it. It's It's funny. >> Yes. but also >> funny and then
- 41:00>> but and then Yeah. Like especially when >> at some point some people managed to
- 41:06find them and that just that took a a left turn very quickly.
- 41:10>> Yes. Yeah. And then uh I kind of guessed what the it's not really a twist at the
- 41:17end, but I kind of I guessed what was
- 41:21going on with a certain thing. It's It doesn't matter because
- 41:25>> I still had no idea where the [ __ ] it was going to go after. >> No. >> Like,
- 41:30>> no, it's a good movie. They get short version is Yeah. She's working at this
- 41:34company. The boss, the big boss who she was friendly with passes away. His son
- 41:38takes over and is a dick. >> Yes. >> And uh and wants to get rid of her.
- 41:42>> Uh but they want to use her one last time. So, they take her on this trip
- 41:46overseas because she's actually good at her job. Yes. Yes.
- 41:49>> And then they're going to get rid of her and all his bro friends are just going
- 41:52to take over the company. >> But the plane crashes and uh
- 41:56>> but because she's such a survivor, [laughter]
- 42:01>> she knows how to survive on this island and he doesn't. >> No. >> So,
- 42:08and then things rapidly spiral out of control in like
- 42:14>> crazy. >> No, I really enjoyed it. But like I said, I just at the end I was just like,
- 42:20"Fuck it hell." All right.
- 42:23Uh yeah, Send Help. Good movie. Um what else have we got? What do we
- 42:29want to get to? I want to talk about just quickly I'll talk about this. Are
- 42:34you all right? You having a moment off camera? >> Okay, now he's muted.
- 42:39>> I'm good. I'm good. >> Okay. Okay. Just making sure. Um,
- 42:44James Bond. >> Do we know who James Bond is?
- 42:49>> No, but apparently we will know this year. >> That's that's that's the news this week
- 42:54is that we will officially know who James Bond will be, the new actor by the
- 43:00end of the year. I'm guessing not until June comes out, June part three, because >> yeah,
- 43:05>> the new villain >> isn't going to want to talk about it. No
- 43:08during press for that. They're gonna want him focused on that because if they
- 43:12do announce Bomb then all of press things are going to be >> exactly talk about.
- 43:15>> If they announce it now, that's all anyone's going to ask him about. So I I
- 43:18guarantee you they are not going to talk about it until then. >> Um
- 43:24but I've been watching the movies still. >> Yes. >> So I was doing my rewatch. I watched
- 43:27>> So where are you up to? >> Uh I've literally just got no time to
- 43:30die left and Okay. I I'll watch it, but I've seen it
- 43:35>> twice fairly recently anyway. So, Amazon, hurry up.
- 43:40>> Yeah, exactly. I'm ready. I'm ready for the next one.
- 43:43>> Gave you plenty of time to get something out ready for that to finish his rewatch. And
- 43:49>> And the thing I wanted to say was uh specifically was that I found it very
- 43:54interesting that my opinion on the Daniel Craig era >> has changed on a rewatch.
- 44:00>> I still love Casino Royale very much. Very great, very, very good movie. I
- 44:05really enjoyed Quantum of Solace, which >> I didn't so much when it came out.
- 44:12>> I was like, eh about it. I really liked it the second time.
- 44:16>> Surprised me. Skyfall, which I really liked when it came out.
- 44:21>> I was a bit eh about this time. >> Oh, >> and I think it's because I can see now
- 44:26having rewatched all of them. I can see what they're doing, if you know what I
- 44:32mean. like it's very intentionally trying to make you go this is a James
- 44:37Bond movie kind of thing. >> Can Can you start to see where he starts
- 44:41to check out [snorts] >> sort of Yeah,
- 44:47definitely more so in like Spectre. [laughter] >> Yeah.
- 44:50>> But but I also I liked Spectre more. And the reason I was going to say
- 44:54specifically the spoilers thing is what I wanted to mention was Spectre. I saw
- 44:58Spectre at the movies. >> Mhm. >> And I didn't like it. Yep.
- 45:03>> And I think maybe that's because of the Blofeld stuff because
- 45:09I think it's silly. >> Yeah. >> But I know about it now. And so when I
- 45:13watched it this time, I knew that was coming and I was just like, "Yeah,
- 45:16whatever." And I actually think >> it's a pretty good James Bond movie.
- 45:21It's just unfortunately they thought they were trying to be clever and make
- 45:25[ __ ] Blofeld his adopted brother or [ __ ] whatever. That's
- 45:28>> And that one thing just tarnished the whole thing for you. and it didn't go
- 45:30anywhere anyway because they just killed him in the next movie anyway. Like just
- 45:33that was stupid. I don't know. I mean, they do this. James Bond movies
- 45:38are not, you know, not high art or anything. They they try things. But >> yeah,
- 45:43>> but I Yeah, on the spoilers thing, having if I had known going in the first
- 45:48time that they were going to that was going to be a thing, I probably would
- 45:52have enjoyed it more the first time because I would have been like, "Oh
- 45:54yeah, this is that stupid thing." >> This is why I say spoilers aren't bad. >> Yeah.
- 45:58>> Don't actually ruin anything. Not always. Sometimes depending on a big
- 46:04>> unless the whole thing is a big twist thing like like a >> unless you
- 46:11like it then it's good. If if if you don't like it then it's bad. And but if
- 46:17you know about it beforehand the badness is reduced. I think that's
- 46:21the like it kind of evens everything out. >> Yeah. But I think most spoilers are most
- 46:27days this these days the trailer gives away the entire movie. So
- 46:31>> yeah, unless they're clever about it sometimes.
- 46:34>> Well, they do get clever sometimes. Like what was it in a movie Solashi where
- 46:39basically the trailer was just the first 10 minutes of the movie? >> Yeah. What was
- 46:45>> what that was? >> And you thought you knew stuff, but then
- 46:49it got through all that and you were like, "Oh, okay. I don't know what's
- 46:52going to happen now." Yeah. >> Yeah. >> But I'm still You can never spoil anything for me.
- 46:58>> Oh, that's fair enough. [snorts] >> Well, anyway, that's that's the
- 47:02basically that's what I wanted to say was that I've kind of flipped a bit on
- 47:05the B. I really liked Skyfall when it came out. I still like it. I just now
- 47:09I'm just like, oh, I actually quite liked the others more. >> I think because
- 47:15>> I enjoyed them >> because I knew was going to happen. I could just enjoy the ride.
- 47:20>> Yeah, just enjoy it. Just go with it. Contrast partic got some good action
- 47:24stuff in it. So >> yeah, he's still not like James Bond.
- 47:29>> No. Who's your James Bond? Roger Moore. >> Yeah, it's definitely that era when it
- 47:35was fun. >> Yeah. I don't know. >> I like fun James Bond.
- 47:42>> Roger Moore did I feel like out of all the Bonds, he did
- 47:47all the kinds of James Bond. But he was always a bit funny, but he also did some
- 47:51dark [ __ ] too. >> Like he's also the most
- 47:56>> rapey James Bond like [laughter] with Solitaire where he swapped the
- 48:02tarot cards and like basically just like tricks her into having sex with him by
- 48:08telling her well the tarot cards said you're going to but then he they were
- 48:11all that all the cards with the lovers. Like that's
- 48:17that's very creepy on a real >> most of the time.
- 48:19>> Yeah, I know. It's very creepy. Um, and he also sleeps with Roger Moore out of
- 48:26all of them. I think Sean Connory does this too actually. No, he does. Sean
- 48:29Connory does it in uh is it Dr. No, where he sleeps with the woman who he
- 48:34knows is a bad guy and then [ __ ] shoots them. [laughter]
- 48:38>> Yeah, but he's got to use Roxaw first. Roger Moore does stuff like that, too.
- 48:42And then they later on they were like, I probably shouldn't have him do that anymore.
- 48:48But Roger Moore also is in Moonraker,
- 48:52which is the silliest of them all with the [ __ ] pigeon doing a double take. >> Oh yeah.
- 48:59>> Oh yeah. And then the ones with the sheriff [ __ ] actually the sheriff was in
- 49:05Live and Let Die, right? The first Roger Mo one. So he
- 49:08>> don't ask me to pick [clears throat] >> I think the sheriff was in Roger Moore
- 49:13from the beginning but anyway. Yeah, they definitely sillier. >> Yeah.
- 49:18>> And you like that? >> Yes. Yeah. Even though for some reason I'll
- 49:24never go back to it. Pierce Broen was all I enjoyed Pierce Brozen, but that's
- 49:28when it started to go. >> Pierce Broman, my I think Golden is excellent.
- 49:35>> And then >> yes, >> went off the rails a bit in
- 49:40uh not Die Another Day, Tomorrow Never Dies. >> Mhm.
- 49:44>> Didn't like that one so much. Well, is not enough. It's actually quite good on
- 49:47a rewatch. And then Die Another Day completely off the rails. >> Yeah. >> Yeah,
- 49:53>> that's right. You'll watch them again in another 45 years.
- 49:56>> I will if I'm still around >> cuz you got to give it time.
- 50:00>> There'll be more of them to watch at that point.
- 50:02>> Well, since now Amazon own them, they're definitely going to be making more movies.
- 50:06>> Yeah. >> You think they're going to stop at one? >> No. No. And eventually I won't be
- 50:12around, but they'll still be making them. >> Yep. >> So,
- 50:16>> I wonder if they will. I wonder if there's a point where it stops.
- 50:22I do think I think it's interesting in that
- 50:28like you you you like that era of them, right? Where they're funny and and and
- 50:32they're goofy and they have gadgets and stuff like that, but
- 50:36>> that's not the world anymore. No, >> like back then like because I listened
- 50:42to there's an interview with somebody involved in making them at one point and
- 50:46they said that the reason the Craig ones feel different and that's because the
- 50:49world now is like all of the stuff that they used to have gadgets for James Bond
- 50:52to do things with. >> You do on your phone. >> Exactly. Yeah. He just needs a phone and
- 50:56then you got it covered. So that's what like people say, oh there's not as many
- 50:59gadgets in the new ones. It's like yeah because that doesn't need them like >> Yeah.
- 51:04>> Yeah. Whereas back then, you know, he had like the watch that could track
- 51:07something. His phone would do that. >> Yep. >> You know, oh, he has a device that um
- 51:11searches for bugs. Yeah, his phone does that. Like, yeah, it's just he has a
- 51:15phone. >> Still miss it.
- 51:20>> I agree. All right. What else do we want to talk about?
- 51:26>> Oh, video games. >> Yes. I've not been playing them and I
- 51:30miss them. I hate to look at my gamer score at the moment. I've been uh I was
- 51:37had an opportunity to catch up. >> Squandered it. I've played two games.
- 51:42>> Neither of them were on my Xbox. >> What game were you got? What games were
- 51:45you going to play? >> I played through the case of the Golden Idol. I've written
- 51:51>> I enjoyed that game. I did just get a walk through to get all the
- 51:53achievements, but I enjoyed it >> still. [laughter]
- 51:56>> I did not use a walk through. I played the game. Uh and I really enjoyed it. Uh
- 52:01>> yeah. >> Yeah, it's great. It was I did do like the first few missions as a like I'm
- 52:06actually just going to play through and then I went nah I'm just going to power
- 52:10through and get all the achievements now. >> Yeah. No, I mean it's time consuming.
- 52:16>> Yes. >> Um but I really enjoyed it. Um >> yeah, it's all about like trying this,
- 52:21trying that. No, that didn't work. Paying attention to what
- 52:25>> Yeah. Checking it's like a detective game where you've got to like figure out
- 52:29from you're kind of a disembodied investigator. >> Yeah. You've got a scene frozen in time
- 52:34and you can see what people have in their pockets and you can see what they
- 52:37were saying and you can see things in the world and you have to try and figure
- 52:41out and put together these sentences that are in the in the in the kind of
- 52:46the the thinking section. Yes. So it's like >> like who murdered who? But but more than
- 52:53that, other things like there's one where it's like a bunch of it's a cult
- 52:58and you've got to figure out what the different robes and masks mean about the
- 53:02status and group in within the cult and things like that. It's it's really
- 53:07>> it's a good brain teaser. >> Yes, that is what it is. This is a brain
- 53:10teaser type of game, but like it's not >> and I did finish it and all the DLC
- 53:15without a walkthrough. Took me a while. My my play time in Steam is inaccurate
- 53:22because I left it on overnight. >> Ah, >> so it looks like I played it for like 24
- 53:27hours. I didn't >> try to see how long it took me.
- 53:34>> Hey, buddy. >> I love you. >> I love you, too. [laughter]
- 53:41Let's just check how long can If you do it like me,
- 53:46you could finish the entire game. >> I mean, you can finish it pretty quick
- 53:50with the walk through. >> Just drag the words where they go.
- 53:53>> Yep. In under an hour easy, I think it was. >> I guess you got to click around and find
- 53:58them all. But
- 54:03>> I can't even spell at the moment. Hold on. Two more seconds.
- 54:10>> Yeah. Retrieve. All right. I look up everything. >> Case of Golden Idol.
- 54:17>> It is says it can take you anywhere from half an hour to two hours. >> The whole thing.
- 54:23>> The whole thing. >> Yeah. Yeah. Makes sense. Um for the main
- 54:27game. Probably not the DLC, right? >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Yeah. So, my play time, my total play
- 54:32time is 26 hours. Uh, which is inaccurate, but whatever.
- 54:39>> But yeah, a lot of the people on here who would have um registered, they would
- 54:42have used the walk through as well. >> Yeah, fair enough. Yeah. Well, I Yeah, I
- 54:47said I left it. I was playing it, went to go make dinner, >> forgot about it,
- 54:51>> forgot about it, came back the next day, went, "Oh, shit." >> Yeah, >> game's still on.
- 54:55>> So, he's not that unintelligent people. >> No, >> it didn't take hours.
- 55:01>> Not that anyone was going to look or care, but I want to make it clear. Uh,
- 55:04the other thing I've been playing is Expedition 33. Um, >> we should go back to that
- 55:10>> which I have on my PlayStation 5. >> PlayStation.
- 55:14>> Yes. I bought it as a gift for somebody uh for Christmas. However, not realizing
- 55:20that they don't have a disc drive on their PlayStation. So, I was like, you know what,
- 55:26>> that's fine. I'll have that copy of it and I'll get a digital one for them.
- 55:30>> So, I've been playing it. Uh, it's good. Yes, it's great. >> It's beautiful.
- 55:35>> Yeah. One of the things I got a shock at uh last year's packs was there were all
- 55:40these people walking around with dresses people from French and baguettes that
- 55:44I'm Why do you dress up? Oh, expansion 33.
- 55:47>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So, it's set in I guess it's alternate reality France.
- 55:53Um or is it >> But yeah, one of the outfits is basically you attack with a baguette.
- 55:58>> Yeah, it's it's it's French themed. [laughter] Uh, I don't know whether it's supposed
- 56:03to be the real world. >> I don't think it is supposed to be like
- 56:07the real world because there's a big thing that's counting down to when you die.
- 56:10>> No, no, I know. I know. But like, was it the real world and then that happened or
- 56:14is it world? Yeah, I know. Because the city's called Lumiere. I'm just
- 56:17realizing that doesn't exist. So, >> but but yet it's very Yes.
- 56:20>> No, it's a beautiful game. It's great. I need to go back to it because it was a
- 56:23great game. >> Yeah, it's it's turnbased like Final Fantasy, but
- 56:28>> I like it more than I like those normally. I think although the modern
- 56:32ones might be like this. >> The modern ones are not turn based anymore. >> Oh, all right.
- 56:37>> They're basically you are slashing and >> play hacker slash now these days.
- 56:41>> Okay. Well, this is this is straight turnbased where you pick what you're
- 56:44going to do and then everything takes turns. But >> yeah,
- 56:47>> although you can you can shoot at thing anyway. It's it's good. It's a good
- 56:54game. Uh I'm enjoying it. I'm not very far, but >> yeah,
- 56:57>> I'm enjoying it. We'll see if I stick with it. Sometimes I don't. Sticking
- 57:00with us is the hard thing. >> Exactly. Uh, big game announcement. Huge
- 57:06game announcement. >> Oo, I'm excited. >> If you're an adventure game player, >> I am
- 57:11>> huge announcement. [gasps] >> Thimbleweed Park.
- 57:15>> I didn't see that. I didn't seen a two to that.
- 57:17>> Thimbleweed Park 2 has been announced. >> That game was great.
- 57:21>> Big news for someone like me. Ron Gilbert, he's back. He's making
- 57:25Thimbleweed Park 2. And he's made other games, but I [ __ ] love Ron Gilbert.
- 57:31Um, yeah. So, uh, it's due out in 2028. He's working on it right now. It's going to
- 57:37take him a while because it's usually just him and a couple of other people
- 57:39and he makes the whole [ __ ] game engine and everything from scratch
- 57:42because that's it's just who he is. >> Well, he does.
- 57:45>> Yeah. Although, I do think he said in the dev blog he's kind of repurposing
- 57:51some other some engine. Yeah. Okay. Uh, it's a very different engine. Okay. So,
- 57:56no. Anyway, it's gonna take him a while to make it,
- 58:00but uh yeah, I love his games. So, >> all right. >> Very exciting.
- 58:06>> You had to tell me it's coming to Xbox yet, and I don't like it.
- 58:10>> Did Thimbleweed Park come to Xbox? >> Well, then I would expect it.
- 58:13>> Oh, was it on Windows? I know. I've got achievements for it.
- 58:17>> Let's see. Thimbleweed Park Xbox.
- 58:23Uh, yes, it is on Xbox. >> All right. So, we'll see cuz at the moment he's got
- 58:29>> Well, he will >> PS he's got PPS. Um, what he's got PS
- 58:34Park will is on sale. PPS Steam doesn't show it yet, but there will be a Mac,
- 58:38Windows, and Linux version. PPPS, there will be a GOG version. Pppps,
- 58:44there will be a switch version. PPPPS, Steve Kirk is coming back as composer
- 58:50and that's the last. >> Okay. I would imagine since he's done it
- 58:55before that he's he will be able to do
- 59:00an Xbox version. Whether it's viable, I guess, >> but I do understand why he would focus
- 59:04on the Switch version first cuz these games are >> handheld. Yeah,
- 59:09>> exactly. cuz I know you know like making a game especially if you're making the
- 59:14engine from scratch which he is [clears throat]
- 59:16>> making it on getting it onto consoles is difficult because you need an SDK and
- 59:22you need uh to sign all the [ __ ] NDAs and do all this stuff with Microsoft and
- 59:26Sony and that kind of stuff. There's hoops you have to jump through. Whereas
- 59:28if you use an engine like Unity or GDAU or whatever, they've already done that. >> Yes.
- 59:33>> So you can publish >> as long even if they just give me a
- 59:36Windows version and get a cheap I'm happy. >> Yeah. But what I'm saying is he's done
- 59:41it before. >> Yeah. >> So he presumably has signed all that stuff. He's got tickets. So
- 59:46>> yeah, it's just main come down to it just looking at like the amount of time
- 59:49it took us to get it working. Is it worth the time and money,
- 59:54>> right? Cuz he knows how many copies he sold on Xbox. >> Yeah. >> Yeah.
- 59:57>> And he knows the adventure market that their their player base is not on PlayStation
- 1:00:03and Xbox. And I feel like so Thimblewe
- 1:00:07Park is, you know, the old style verbs at the bottom click. The Xbox is not
- 1:00:14ideal for that. >> No. >> So yeah, it's a mouse or point or touch. >> Yeah. >> Thing.
- 1:00:20>> So I can understand that. >> Yeah. >> So I'll play it if I can get
- 1:00:25achievements. Just throw it out there. Ron balls in your park. >> All right.
- 1:00:31I still got to send him my um Monkey Island fanfiction. >> You really should.
- 1:00:39>> I just don't know if he's going to find it as amusing as as we
- 1:00:43>> do. Yeah, maybe. I did scan it in to do that. >> Do it.
- 1:00:47>> We'll see. Maybe I will. Um
- 1:00:53Elder Scrolls 6. This is a combined news article because I thought it was
- 1:00:58amusing. So, uh, we've been talking about Elder Scrolls 6 a bit because
- 1:01:02they've been told to focus on it. >> Yep. >> Apparently, the, uh, the, uh, you know,
- 1:01:07the boss head of Xbox, the new head of Xbox, Asha Sharma, went to Bethesda. >> Mhm.
- 1:01:12>> Saw a demo of it and she says it's great. >> I mean, of course she does.
- 1:01:17>> Yeah. She's not going to go, "God, that is shit."
- 1:01:20>> Yeah. She's like, "Sorry, guys. It's gone. >> What are you guys seeing this?"
- 1:01:22>> Yeah. So, it doesn't really tell us anything. Uh, however, it does tell us
- 1:01:26the game exists, I guess, >> and there's some sort of playable version.
- 1:01:31>> Yeah, it was playable to a degree. Uh, but the other thing that's interesting
- 1:01:34is that when she went there to do it, they had set up this inflatable rat,
- 1:01:39which apparently makes the rounds of uh
- 1:01:42various game companies or or basically
- 1:01:46tech companies. They the union puts up this big rat uh in protest of all the
- 1:01:52recent layoffs or whatever. >> Mhm. So, when she went to Bethesda,
- 1:01:56someone had inflated this giant rat on the lawn and everybody was chanting,
- 1:01:59"Who's the rat?" Microsoft. Who's the rat? Microsoft. Uh,
- 1:02:04yeah, she didn't mention that. >> No, she Yeah, I thought she might have
- 1:02:09skipped over that. >> Yeah, she didn't. She didn't mention that. >> They don't like the
- 1:02:13>> No. Um,
- 1:02:16but yes, so Xbox is losing of its staff as part of her push for growth. So
- 1:02:23that's why people are annoyed. >> But I don't know with some of it, we
- 1:02:27have got a bit of a kick up the butt of Bethesda.
- 1:02:30>> Yeah. Yeah. They've been told. Well, we've been told. They've been told [laughter]
- 1:02:37just >> But then they also turn around, oh yeah, but we had all this stuff on the fly
- 1:02:40already and it was all this. Oh, >> silence doesn't let people know. But
- 1:02:45also letting people know too early. >> I imagine you would have preferred. They
- 1:02:51could have done this, but they shouldn't have told us they were making it in the
- 1:02:53first place. 10 years ago >> or like whatever the E3 was. 20 I found
- 1:02:58my hat the other day. 2017 I went to E3. >> Okay.
- 1:03:02>> Almost 10 years ago. Yeah. [snorts] >> Like cuz that announcement wasn't that
- 1:03:09gave everyone hope that it was coming out within a few years, >> right? No, it was up.
- 1:03:16>> We're probably still a good three years
- 1:03:18away from it at the earliest. Yeah. >> Yes.
- 1:03:24>> Which is just sad cuz means we'll never get to play Elder Scrolls 7.
- 1:03:30>> But these games are so complicated now. I feel like to top Skyrim obviously it's
- 1:03:36going to take longer to make. >> I do hope that they sort of stick with
- 1:03:39what they said they're doing with like the Fallout how like Obsidian's now
- 1:03:43going to be making >> Yeah. >> a Fallout spin-off. So, hey, while
- 1:03:47you're not getting a main game, which will have all the big graphics updates
- 1:03:50and all of that, you're still >> Yeah. >> getting something in the universe.
- 1:03:54>> Yeah. Same engine, just more more >> and we don't I while I'm saying that, I
- 1:03:58don't want you to turn something out yearly cuz that would be
- 1:04:01>> stupid and still what story there, but we can't go
- 1:04:05>> Yeah. There's a balance between just pumping out trash. >> Yeah.
- 1:04:09>> And Yeah. And taking 10 years. >> That's 10 years since the announcement.
- 1:04:14It's not 10 years since. >> Yeah, that's a good point. >> The last one.
- 1:04:17>> Yeah. I wonder how long it took him to make it in total.
- 1:04:22>> Cuz just Yeah, it's just taking longer and longer these days and it's scary.
- 1:04:27>> Um, we should go to the afterparty soon, but I did already mention this, so we
- 1:04:32should quickly cover it. There is Easter News. Um, we mentioned that the guy was
- 1:04:37playing Kattos in the God of War series, injured himself to the degree that he
- 1:04:41can't do the final show anymore. Mhm. >> And apparently Dave Batista is in talks
- 1:04:46to take over as Kattos, which is interesting because Dave Batista is not
- 1:04:52as big as he used to be. >> I never saw him as I don't think I ever
- 1:04:56saw Well, did I? I don't think I've I don't think he got the movement for it.
- 1:05:00>> Yeah, I don't know. Yeah, I also agree. I'm not sure,
- 1:05:05>> but I haven't seen him recently, but like I knew he was he was always going
- 1:05:08to be perfect for like Gears of War, like with that huge shoulders hunched
- 1:05:12over like that. He's perfect for that. Butrratto is more of a tall, lean guy
- 1:05:17who's just jacked. >> Yeah, I guess I don't know. Who knows if
- 1:05:22this will actually even happened, but apparently he's in talks for it. So,
- 1:05:25it's it's been uh it's been in the news. Um >> Well, it's sort of weird like are they
- 1:05:30even replacing someone quickly or to get going again or are they just
- 1:05:35>> You would think so cuz this was sudden. It shut down the whole [ __ ] show.
- 1:05:39They shot episodes of it and then now they have to be like go back and reshoot them.
- 1:05:43>> R-shoot. So if you're going to be re-shooting, you think you'd want
- 1:05:45someone, hey, we need someone on this straight away, but if they're just in
- 1:05:49talks, it's going to be another 6 months until that's finalized. Why not just
- 1:05:53wait for him? >> He's in early negotiations for the role. No official announcement.
- 1:05:58>> Or maybe it's a case of >> he's got to reshoot four episodes.
- 1:06:02>> Maybe it might be a case of, hey, it's good this guy hurt himself. He wasn't
- 1:06:07that good. Let's use this as our out. >> Yeah. [clears throat] Or
