- 0:18Speaker 2: My wife might not have felt it, but I was
- 0:21Speaker 2: putting my foot down at dinner a little bit last night, pre-dinner, pre-dinner.
- 0:25Speaker 2: And again, maybe not the most confident in the world
- 0:27Speaker 2: to where my wife knew that I was I was
- 0:30Speaker 2: actually putting my foot down. But when she listens to
- 0:33Speaker 2: this pod, she's going to... A soft foot down. A
- 0:36Speaker 2: soft foot down last night at the dinner table. We
- 0:38Speaker 2: got a good dad hack, or it's a dinner table
- 0:41Speaker 2: dad hack, which I'm into. So I'll get into that
- 0:43Speaker 2: story once we get into the dad hack. But welcome
- 0:46Speaker 2: to For the Dads, Papa Team 6. Welcome to the show.
- 0:50Speaker 2: This is a show for the dads, just by a
- 0:52Speaker 2: couple of dads. We talk highs and lows of fatherhood,
- 0:55Speaker 2: and we just embrace all of it. Parenting, marriage... Everything
- 0:59Speaker 2: in between. We are not experts. We never claim to
- 1:02Speaker 2: be experts. Never said that. An introduction on the show.
- 1:05Speaker 2: This is Goon Beret, our first Goon Beret helping run
- 1:09Speaker 2: comms back there.
- 1:10Speaker 1: His name is Matt Malone. You've heard about him. He's
- 1:13Speaker 1: joining the show.
- 1:14Speaker 2: He is sitting in place of Derek, our boy Deke,
- 1:17Speaker 2: who is currently on his honeymoon. Shout out, Deke, and
- 1:20Speaker 2: congratulations for the wedding, Deke.
- 1:22Speaker 1: We love you. Congratulations to you for being on the podcast.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Congratulations on the Steelers win.
- 1:26Speaker 2: This is a very important Sode because now we're going
- 1:29Speaker 2: to get to see if there is any drop off
- 1:32Speaker 2: with Deke out of the office.
- 1:34Speaker 1: And hey, Deke was not ever speaking that way. I
- 1:38Speaker 1: just want to put that out into the universe. Deke
- 1:40Speaker 1: would never do that. That's more so, that's kind of
- 1:43Speaker 1: our own self-grading. That's our own self-created. Yeah, we're just
- 1:46Speaker 1: curious because Deke does the cards. Deke does a lot
- 1:49Speaker 1: of stuff for the show, as does Chef. As does Chef.
- 1:51Speaker 2: But this is a little two-man operation. Chef's picking up
- 1:54Speaker 2: a little bit more responsibility. Matt's picking up more responsibility.
- 1:57Speaker 2: We'll just see what this show does without Deke sitting
- 2:01Speaker 2: as the QB.
- 2:01Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:02Speaker 1: What's going to happen?
- 2:04Speaker 2: Over the weekend, before we get going, I got to
- 2:07Speaker 2: shout out the PT Sickos that showed up to kern's
- 2:13Speaker 2: bakery yeah at our tailgate in tennessee yep a lot
- 2:17Speaker 2: of quality dads a lot of quality just guys they
- 2:20Speaker 2: might not even be dads that are coming up talking
- 2:22Speaker 2: about being fans of for the dads guys we engage
- 2:26Speaker 2: with the community a lot specific shout out to alex
- 2:28Speaker 2: alex was big time on wanting the signatures on the
- 2:31Speaker 2: shirt oh getting photos one one pull me aside i
- 2:35Speaker 2: don't know phil's alex i can't remember damn oh jordan's
- 2:38Speaker 2: boy jordan's boy's like hey is sherm coming like I
- 2:41Speaker 2: got to meet Sherm. Oh, that's right. And he's like,
- 2:44Speaker 2: no disrespect to you. I've just gotten to meet you
- 2:45Speaker 2: a couple of times, but I got to know is Sherm.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Like he seems like a beauty. I have to meet Sherm.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Oh man.
- 2:51Speaker 1: But we're doing photos. We're signing shirts.
- 2:53Speaker 2: And by the way, if you want to etch yourself
- 2:55Speaker 2: into PT sicko lore, BWTB.com is where you can get
- 2:59Speaker 2: all the For the Dads merch. There's mom merch, Milk
- 3:02Speaker 2: Team 6 merch. I don't know if we have ST6 merch,

- 3:29Speaker 2: Dropping comments, shopping in our store, call-ins with stories, write-ins
- 3:33Speaker 2: with emails. We engage heavily with our community. We have
- 3:36Speaker 2: no show without you guys. We have no show without
- 3:39Speaker 2: the community. You guys help keep this boat going. Because
- 3:43Speaker 2: I don't know what we just sit here and talk
- 3:45Speaker 2: about the entire time without people writing in, without people
- 3:47Speaker 2: engaging with all of our content. So shout out to
- 3:49Speaker 2: you guys. And thank you for engaging with this show.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Thank you for engaging in a prime example to that.
- 3:55Speaker 1: I have some additional shout outs from the tailgate. because
- 4:00Speaker 1: PT6 came out in full force. I also want to
- 4:04Speaker 1: have a special shout out. Somebody wanted to get a
- 4:06Speaker 1: picture with Chef. Chef had his first PT6 request. Was
- 4:12Speaker 1: that your first PT6 requested pic? Yeah, 100%. There was a,
- 4:16Speaker 1: I forget who, was it Alex? I think it was Adam.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Or no, it was Alex that got the picture with you. Yeah, dude,
- 4:25Speaker 1: it was a trip.
- 4:25Speaker 4: That was the first time I've been like, someone's like, hey,
- 4:28Speaker 4: chef and started talking to me about for the dads.
- 4:30Speaker 1: And it was like, Hey, let's take a picture. Oh,
- 4:33Speaker 1: and I got to, I got to watch it happen.
- 4:34Speaker 2: And on your day of days, Texas and Tennessee, you're
- 4:38Speaker 2: in your old stomping grounds.
- 4:40Speaker 1: That was a Super Bowl day for me. They said, Chef, hey,
- 4:42Speaker 1: can we do it in front of the bus and
- 4:44Speaker 1: tailgate backdrop? And Jill just instantly jumps on. Yeah, I'll
- 4:48Speaker 1: take it for you guys. Here, Chef, you get in there.
- 4:52Speaker 1: It was immaculate.
- 4:54Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Additional shout outs to Alex because he was wearing, I
- 4:58Speaker 1: wore it today because he wore it to the tailgate,
- 5:00Speaker 1: the OG, the very first shirt. And this is our
- 5:03Speaker 1: OG hat. And when I was walking into the tailgate,
- 5:06Speaker 1: I see Alex from afar and I see that he's
- 5:09Speaker 1: wearing the OG and I go, oh, okay. We got
- 5:13Speaker 1: a sicko on our hands. We're playing a home game today.
- 5:15Speaker 1: We're playing a home game. I started giving him fist
- 5:19Speaker 1: bumps from far away and pointing like this. And he
- 5:22Speaker 1: saw me and started going, oh. And I was like,
- 5:25Speaker 1: I got to meet that guy. Shout out to Adam
- 5:29Speaker 1: and his wife. His wife is also, she's a nurse practitioner.
- 5:35Speaker 1: So her and Jellybean just got to talking. Adam and
- 5:38Speaker 1: then his buddy that they brought along. It was fantastic
- 5:42Speaker 1: getting to meet them. Jacob, who runs like a local
- 5:47Speaker 1: ministry for Tennessee, like the University of Tennessee. He brought
- 5:54Speaker 1: a whole entourage of his family, got to meet all
- 5:57Speaker 1: of them. And then Ethan and Josh, dude. Ethan and
- 6:02Speaker 1: Josh were, and hey, y'all's buddies as well, Chance and Sam.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Yeah, Chance and Sam. You're the boys, Sherm. I'm so
- 6:09Speaker 2: glad you're remembering all the names too. Dude, Chance and Sam.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. Ethan and Josh and Chance and Sam
- 6:16Speaker 1: and I, we all walked to the game together from
- 6:19Speaker 1: the tailgate. So we're just getting to meet Ethan, Josh,
- 6:23Speaker 1: learn about their families. Ethan was giving me the hard
- 6:26Speaker 1: sell on going to Va Tech. And it's almost like
- 6:29Speaker 1: someone upstairs just had their ear listening. The fact that
- 6:33Speaker 1: you guys are going to Vaught Tech.
- 6:34Speaker 2: The following- Yeah, Boston 8 on campus going to Vaught
- 6:36Speaker 2: Tech this Friday. It's going to be an atmosphere because Blacksburg,
- 6:40Speaker 2: they've been itching for a 4-0 ball club to host
- 6:43Speaker 2: a team like Pitt, who's also 4-0. This is the
- 6:46Speaker 2: ACC game of the week. Yeah.
- 6:47Speaker 1: And Ethan, I swear to you, Will, he is at
- 6:51Speaker 1: home literally doing this and recording the TV. He is
- 6:54Speaker 1: a huge fan of you. He is very excited. It's
- 6:57Speaker 1: going to be fun. Very excited. It's going to be fun.
- 6:59Speaker 2: We were, so just quick note, quick little story time with,
- 7:03Speaker 2: with a chef over there. Chef is elated that we
- 7:08Speaker 2: are in town and you can see it in his
- 7:10Speaker 2: body language. You can see it. I need a full breakdown.
- 7:12Speaker 2: You can see it in his eyes. It's not like
- 7:14Speaker 2: a full breakdown per se, but just a couple moments.
- 7:18Speaker 4: Okay.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Okay. That he's so excited that I'm.
- 7:20Speaker 2: In his town to where in his brain, it's almost
- 7:23Speaker 2: like the maps app doesn't work.
- 7:28Speaker 1: It's got to be Chef kind of directing where we go. Oh, yeah.
- 7:31Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Like, we're going to a Friday Night Lights game on Friday. Like,
- 7:35Speaker 2: after we got done with Josh Pate's live show, Chef's
- 7:38Speaker 2: in the truck with old Willie C. We're heading out
- 7:40Speaker 2: to watch some Alcoa football. Go see some dads root
- 7:43Speaker 2: on their boys.
- 7:44Speaker 1: 11 times state champions in a row. 11 times in
- 7:46Speaker 1: a row, bro.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Going through their 12th this year. And right now they're undefeated.
- 7:49Speaker 2: It's all about the details, as Coach Nix would say.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 7:52Speaker 2: We're on our way out there. And, you know, like,
- 7:54Speaker 2: my phone's connected to the truck. The Ford, shout out Ford.
- 7:59Speaker 2: No free shout outs to Ford. We're built Ford tough
- 8:01Speaker 2: heading out there on Friday night. And, you know, any
- 8:03Speaker 2: turn that I have, Chef's like.
- 8:07Speaker 1: he's leaned up on the dashboard.
- 8:09Speaker 2: I think you gotta go you gotta go you gotta
- 8:11Speaker 2: go left right here and i'm looking at the thing
- 8:12Speaker 2: like no i go a little bit farther he's like
- 8:14Speaker 2: god you know what you're that's on me i'm wrong
- 8:16Speaker 2: on that one it's up here and i'm just thinking
- 8:18Speaker 2: chef like i'll just follow the i'll just follow the
- 8:22Speaker 2: gps we're gonna be totally fine i didn't say anything
- 8:25Speaker 2: to you in that moment but i was keeping in
- 8:26Speaker 2: the bank.
- 8:27Speaker 4: For like okay i gotta no words said about that.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Yeah he's like this over here you know it's it's
- 8:32Speaker 2: a It's a rougher part of town. You don't want
- 8:34Speaker 2: to be outside a whole lot. I'm like, oh, why
- 8:36Speaker 2: is that?
- 8:37Speaker 1: You know how them boys are now. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 8:40Speaker 2: He's like, we're going, it's a different type of hillbilly
- 8:42Speaker 2: out here. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then we get to
- 8:44Speaker 2: the next day. He's walking us. We walk across the bridge.
- 8:48Speaker 2: We're going to the stadium. We're going to Neyland Stadium.
- 8:51Speaker 2: And Chef's like a little jackrabbit out front, like walking around.
- 8:54Speaker 2: He's looking at parking lots. Hey, I think we should
- 8:57Speaker 2: go this way, Jack. And I'll go ahead and say, Matt,
- 9:00Speaker 2: just to put some salt in the wound as well.
- 9:01Speaker 2: But they're like, no, no, we need to head this way.
- 9:03Speaker 2: And Chef's like, I don't know. I think he gets
- 9:05Speaker 2: a little busy.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Like traffic.
- 9:07Speaker 2: We should walk from the parking lot because there's going
- 9:10Speaker 2: to be so much traffic. It's going to be so
- 9:11Speaker 2: hard to get in the game. We walk right through
- 9:14Speaker 2: the entire thing. There's not a lot of people out
- 9:17Speaker 2: and about. The way that Chef was like, this game
- 9:20Speaker 2: is going to be so huge. Like, it's going to
- 9:22Speaker 2: be a zoo down there. He was on his Papa Sherman.
- 9:24Speaker 2: We could have went to the parking garage by the stadium.
- 9:27Speaker 4: Can I defend myself? The 9 o'clock start, because the
- 9:32Speaker 4: president was coming to the game. When we turned the corner.
- 9:36Speaker 4: I was expecting it to be a zoo. And what
- 9:38Speaker 4: I found out is people going through other entrances, it
- 9:40Speaker 4: was a zoo. Chance, who you walked with, said it
- 9:43Speaker 4: took him 45 minutes to get in the game.
- 9:44Speaker 1: It was a zoo. And they left tenants for us.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:46Speaker 4: I did not expect when we got there, when we
- 9:49Speaker 4: walked through that stadium, that Neyland Stadium was basically full
- 9:54Speaker 4: an hour and 20 before the game started.
- 9:56Speaker 1: That's fair. So they got everything going.
- 9:58Speaker 4: Matt can attest that like usually an hour before the
- 10:01Speaker 4: game that place we walk through is a genuine zoo
- 10:06Speaker 4: top to bottom.
- 10:07Speaker 3: It's it's always crowded we just packed out before 90
- 10:10Speaker 3: minute 90 minute warm-up even started so Matt's first.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Time on the mic with For the Dads.
- 10:16Speaker 2: He was nervous too, talking on the mic a little bit.
- 10:19Speaker 1: I had to clear his throat. I had to clear
- 10:21Speaker 1: my throat. I got a little nervous, right? This is
- 10:23Speaker 1: not my platform, but I'm trying to, you know. Nothing
- 10:26Speaker 1: to be scared about because I told him he is
- 10:29Speaker 1: well-known on this show. We talk about this Goon Beret
- 10:33Speaker 1: quite a bit.
- 10:33Speaker 2: We talk about the Goon Berets. This can't be a
- 10:35Speaker 2: Goon Beret pod. But he leads the Goon Berets out there.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Can I give them just a very quick shout out?
- 10:42Speaker 2: And then I want to hear more about just some
- 10:45Speaker 2: of the more highlights of Chef. Is these two and
- 10:49Speaker 2: Ryan specifically always do such an incredible job of hosting
- 10:55Speaker 2: Jilly Bean whenever she's around for a busing event. Whenever
- 10:59Speaker 2: I'm looking up, it's one of these two or Ryan
- 11:02Speaker 2: and they're talking to her and they're always laughing and
- 11:04Speaker 2: having fun. And she's always telling me afterward, Chef Matt
- 11:08Speaker 2: and Ryan, they're just so nice. They're so fun. They
- 11:11Speaker 2: have great energy. And you're speaking to a dad hack
- 11:13Speaker 2: right now. Please. You want a dad hack? It's what
- 11:17Speaker 2: you just said. Like when you're boys, you're out in
- 11:21Speaker 2: an event and your boys know target mission is making
- 11:26Speaker 2: the wifey laugh, making the wifey have fun, engaging in conversation.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Because there's no better feeling driving home And your wife
- 11:35Speaker 2: is raving about your boys.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Yes. There's no better.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Because you know conversations can easily just be on the
- 11:42Speaker 2: other side.
- 11:43Speaker 1: In a situation. To where you're kind of like, ah, damn,
- 11:45Speaker 1: I need the boys. Where were you, honey? Where were you?
- 11:49Speaker 1: You vanished. And I'm looking around. Who am I going
- 11:52Speaker 1: to talk to? I don't know anyone there. That's hell.
- 11:56Speaker 1: That's hell. All dads right now, they're nodding their head. Oh, yeah.
- 12:01Speaker 7: You kind of left me. You kind of fed me
- 12:02Speaker 7: to the wolves. You're hanging out with your boy playing cornhole. Oh,
- 12:06Speaker 7: and it's like you're bussing tailgates. You got to do
- 12:09Speaker 7: your bussing thing. But this is my weekend. I'm there
- 12:13Speaker 7: to watch my team.
- 12:15Speaker 1: None of that.
- 12:16Speaker 2: He could just talk to me for a little bit.
- 12:18Speaker 2: For a guy, it's like there's ball going on. The
- 12:21Speaker 2: boy's like, there's so much to do.
- 12:23Speaker 1: With a very heavy, and I'm talking about our internal crew.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Jill and I roll up. Everybody's up on that patio.
- 12:31Speaker 1: It's all XY chromosomes. I mean, Jill's the only girl
- 12:35Speaker 1: out there. When Jill walks in, it's almost my radar
- 12:37Speaker 1: is going off, too. You give just a nice, great hug. Yeah, yeah.
- 12:40Speaker 2: God, you look amazing. So glad you're here.
- 12:43Speaker 1: I'm looking around the room going, I could have sworn
- 12:45Speaker 1: people were saying they were bringing their wives or girlfriends.
- 12:49Speaker 2: Girls so yeah i know what's going on in your
- 12:53Speaker 2: head then oh damn nobody brought their girl to.
- 12:55Speaker 1: This thankfully jill's there to watch her team so it's
- 12:58Speaker 1: not like she went banking like oh charlotte's gonna be
- 13:02Speaker 1: there taylor's gonna be there like everybody will be there
- 13:05Speaker 1: it's not like you walked in and all.
- 13:06Speaker 2: The boys are sitting there thinking like oh sharon brought
- 13:08Speaker 2: his wife.
- 13:09Speaker 1: And do that one little last sip of the ollie
- 13:11Speaker 1: pop too and just Hey, Joe. Hey. Good to see you. No,
- 13:19Speaker 1: I don't have many more highlights of Chef. It was
- 13:21Speaker 1: just great.
- 13:21Speaker 2: It was fun to see him in his element, to
- 13:24Speaker 2: be so happy that we're also in his element. Like,
- 13:27Speaker 2: it's our first time in Neyland. And he's like, what
- 13:32Speaker 2: do you guys think? And I'm like, buddy, we've been
- 13:33Speaker 2: here a few times. And just to see his face,
- 13:36Speaker 2: it was.
- 13:37Speaker 1: I have a petition. I have a petition. That's been,
- 13:40Speaker 1: it's been put out there and it's already gotten enough signatures.
- 13:43Speaker 4: Okay.
- 13:44Speaker 1: PT Sickos. I interrupt this episode.
- 13:47Speaker 6: Why?
- 13:48Speaker 1: Because we got Olipop caramel apple. I've been sipping it
- 13:52Speaker 1: all episode. This is the drink of the fall guys. I,
- 13:57Speaker 1: and I'm sorry, you're going to have to listen to
- 13:59Speaker 1: me slurp on it during this ad break, but you're
- 14:05Speaker 1: probably not sorry. Because you're probably sipping an Olipop at
- 14:08Speaker 1: home and enjoying it just like I am because Olipop
- 14:13Speaker 1: is still doing their get a free can deal of
- 14:17Speaker 1: buy any two cans of Olipop in store. They will
- 14:20Speaker 1: pay you back for one. It works on any single
- 14:23Speaker 1: can of any flavor at any retailer. Go to drinkolipop.com
- 14:28Speaker 1: forward slash BWTB. That's drinkolipop.com forward slash BWTB. Olipop is
- 14:36Speaker 1: available in the soda aisle and with the chilled beverages
- 14:40Speaker 1: at thousands of retailers nationwide, including Target and Walmart. Willie
- 14:46Speaker 1: C and Chef on the field, and they got their
- 14:48Speaker 1: arms around each other. And that will be framed. That
- 14:54Speaker 1: will be signed by the both of you, and that
- 14:56Speaker 1: is going to live on set. That was Will's idea.
- 14:59Speaker 1: It's officially going to go on set. Hey, come here.
- 15:02Speaker 4: We're going to take like a father-son kind of picture.
- 15:05Speaker 4: We're looking up in the stands. I was like, yeah, sure.
- 15:07Speaker 4: We were having like a little moment. We were just
- 15:10Speaker 4: kind of waxing poetic on the sideline. And then he
- 15:15Speaker 4: walked off or broke away. And that's when it hit
- 15:16Speaker 4: my mind.
- 15:17Speaker 2: I was like, I want to get a photo of
- 15:19Speaker 2: us talking about being inside a Neyland Stadium together.
- 15:22Speaker 1: It was sick.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Matt, both those guys are my boys right there.
- 15:27Speaker 3: Also, it happened to be on the anniversary of me
- 15:30Speaker 3: and Will meeting for the first time in Knoxville.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Put that image up too. I have that one too.
- 15:36Speaker 1: It was our anniversary week. It's a wild one.
- 15:38Speaker 2: So my wife that morning as well sends me a
- 15:41Speaker 2: four-year anniversary pic because we had Rue with us. Rue
- 15:44Speaker 2: is strapped to my chest, got the headphones on because
- 15:47Speaker 2: we're in Neyland Stadium and Rue's having her first football game.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Because I see people... I've seen.
- 15:52Speaker 2: I want to say last week I saw going around
- 15:54Speaker 2: like X. Somebody had mentioned that it's just a waste
- 15:57Speaker 2: of time bringing your little one to a game because
- 16:00Speaker 2: it's loud. It's too much going on. Responding like, don't
- 16:03Speaker 2: bring your little kiddos to a game or something like that.
- 16:06Speaker 2: And I was thinking about Rue. I was like, dude,
- 16:08Speaker 2: we brought Rue to a few games. And low key,
- 16:10Speaker 2: we had a blast bringing her to the atmosphere.
- 16:12Speaker 1: Someone was clowning... Is she going to remember?
- 16:13Speaker 4: No. No.
- 16:15Speaker 2: But you have the photos. There's... there's a couple of
- 16:17Speaker 2: like video shots where I'm throwing her in the air.
- 16:19Speaker 2: And it's like, yo, Rue's at her first ball game.
- 16:21Speaker 1: Someone was clowning germ. And I wanted to get on the,
- 16:25Speaker 1: for the dad's, um, profile. I meant to do that.
- 16:29Speaker 1: It was in the comments of, cause I do the
- 16:31Speaker 1: callbacks for bus and pod. Yeah. And they were talking
- 16:35Speaker 1: about how germ had to leave. Cause it was super
- 16:38Speaker 1: hot and they had their six week old on the
- 16:41Speaker 1: field or whatever. And they're like, Who brings a six-week-old
- 16:44Speaker 1: to a football game? I wanted to be like, right here.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Took him to the Baylor-Auburn game, and we had a blast. And, like,
- 16:53Speaker 1: that's not weird. I don't think it's weird.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Well, it's, like, I get where people are coming from
- 16:59Speaker 2: on saying, like, oh, that could be a little much.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Sure, it could. But like, sorry, sorry. For health purposes too.
- 17:09Speaker 1: Totally get that. Yeah.
- 17:11Speaker 2: But let's say you have something planned out and say
- 17:15Speaker 2: you don't have childcare lined up, but you and wifey's
- 17:17Speaker 2: want to go to the game. You're kind of on
- 17:18Speaker 2: the fence. Should we bring the little one? Like you
- 17:20Speaker 2: kind of go and you're going to have to operate.
- 17:22Speaker 2: Like if they're not doing a good job, you're, you're
- 17:24Speaker 2: both just going to know as a team. it's going
- 17:26Speaker 2: to be good to take off. Or like, I want
- 17:28Speaker 2: to say at Baylor, you said that there was like
- 17:29Speaker 2: a family, they like a family changing stations or quiet rooms.
- 17:33Speaker 2: Like if you survey the area, like Secret Service did
- 17:36Speaker 2: for Trump the day before, where it's like, you're all in,
- 17:39Speaker 2: you know where all the exits are, you know where
- 17:41Speaker 2: all the things are. And you're just thinking, we can't
- 17:43Speaker 2: have anybody watch our kid all day so.
- 17:45Speaker 1: We can go to a game.
- 17:47Speaker 2: Do we want to, hey, do we want to try
- 17:49Speaker 2: to figure out a way to go to the game
- 17:50Speaker 2: like with the kiddo? It could be a little much. Yeah,
- 17:53Speaker 2: but dude, Fuck it. Like, let's just go and see.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Let's just go and figure it out on our own.
- 17:57Speaker 2: That's where it's like, yeah, dude, go like clump too.
- 18:00Speaker 2: They were having a family day at Dolly Parton land
- 18:03Speaker 2: or Dolly land or something like that.
- 18:04Speaker 1: Dollywood. Yeah. Dollywood. Sorry. Dollywood.
- 18:08Speaker 2: And they were going to Dollywood. So the family drove
- 18:10Speaker 2: up that day. Sure, Klump's got to work. So he's
- 18:12Speaker 2: thinking like, okay, who knows how long this is going
- 18:15Speaker 2: to be. I know I'm not going to stay probably
- 18:16Speaker 2: past the first quarter or halftime or anything else. Yeah.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Wifey's up here. JJ would love the game. Brady would
- 18:23Speaker 2: love the game. Like, let's see if I can get
- 18:24Speaker 2: the kiddos. Hey, and you ask your wife, hey, would
- 18:27Speaker 2: you be against like me trying to get all of
- 18:29Speaker 2: you guys into the game? If wifey's like, no, I
- 18:31Speaker 2: got a six week old. I'll just go and chill.
- 18:33Speaker 2: If you want to bring JJ or the oldest or
- 18:35Speaker 2: whatever with you, then we can meet up. That's great communication.
- 18:38Speaker 2: That's great strategy. But if Lindsay's sitting there like, oh,
- 18:40Speaker 2: I'd love to go see the game too. And she's
- 18:42Speaker 2: knowing I can have baby strapped to me the whole time.
- 18:44Speaker 2: Like we've been in these spots before. Then you go and.
- 18:47Speaker 1: Get it done. Yeah.
- 18:48Speaker 2: Knowing like, oh, you're going to Dolly World afterwards.
- 18:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:51Speaker 2: Or Dolly, Dolly, Dollywood. You're going to Dollywood afterwards. Like
- 18:56Speaker 2: they had a full weekend plan.
- 18:58Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 18:58Speaker 3: Yes.
- 18:59Speaker 1: Like I'd like, it's almost like I.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Get the fodder of people saying like, don't bring your
- 19:04Speaker 2: little one.
- 19:05Speaker 1: That's stupid. That blah, blah, blah. Dude. shut the fuck up.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:08Speaker 1: What are we doing? What are we doing? And, and
- 19:10Speaker 1: to the people that are out there, they're like, Hey,
- 19:13Speaker 1: it's not safe with germs. If they haven't gotten their shots, blah, blah, totally. Hey,
- 19:18Speaker 1: I ain't treading on your flag. You know what I'm saying?
- 19:21Speaker 2: I ain't treading on your, your warning or concern, but
- 19:24Speaker 2: also staying in your lane.
- 19:26Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Cause I think Scarlett was like eight weeks. Um, she
- 19:29Speaker 1: had gotten some first round of shots is why Jill
- 19:32Speaker 1: was cool with it. Um, But yeah, dude, epic weekend.
- 19:37Speaker 1: And to that exact point, or while I was about
- 19:42Speaker 1: to jump into my crack of cold one, but I
- 19:44Speaker 1: don't want to jump into it too early.
- 19:45Speaker 2: We got follow-ups. We got cards. We got people writing
- 19:48Speaker 2: in again. You want a chance to be featured on
- 19:50Speaker 2: the show. All you got to do is drop comments,
- 19:52Speaker 2: whether on YouTube, if you're listening on Spotify or social media,
- 19:57Speaker 2: I was going to say Instagram to all of our
- 19:58Speaker 2: social media is at for the dad's pod.
- 20:00Speaker 1: You leave comments. You want a chance to be featured
- 20:02Speaker 1: on the show. That is where you go.
- 20:04Speaker 2: Or, um, for the dads at gmail or 601 the
- 20:08Speaker 2: dads 601.
- 20:09Speaker 1: The dads at gmail.com.
- 20:11Speaker 2: For emails as well got one here this is from
- 20:15Speaker 2: Jordan Mont bring back Chris he needs his own segment
- 20:18Speaker 2: I almost had to shut that down right away because
- 20:20Speaker 2: APR from wifey after last week's episode she's like I
- 20:24Speaker 2: had to skip through the Chris stuff because you guys
- 20:26Speaker 2: ain't talking dads like you guys ain't talking like the
- 20:28Speaker 2: wives out there aren't they're like they're not listening to
- 20:31Speaker 2: you guys you're intern Chris call in about, what do
- 20:34Speaker 2: I do with my last year of college?
- 20:36Speaker 1: Well, to Charo's point... This is a guy that's been
- 20:41Speaker 1: coming at her husband pretty hard. Yeah. He is.
- 20:44Speaker 2: Maybe she just got my back. But Charles, she's an
- 20:48Speaker 2: avid listener. She listens drop day.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 20:50Speaker 2: She's always got a little feedback. So her and Jordan,
- 20:54Speaker 2: they're on different sides of the fence. Charles is like,
- 20:55Speaker 2: I skipped through it. I'm thinking maybe I'll mom skip
- 20:57Speaker 2: through the intern Chris talk. Yeah, maybe the boys, the
- 21:00Speaker 2: boys love some intern Chris talk.
- 21:01Speaker 1: I don't blame her at all. She's sitting there going, oh, yeah,
- 21:03Speaker 1: a guy that said that my husband can't change a tire.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Let's just give him a full segment. Sounds great. That
- 21:09Speaker 1: sounds perfect. I got Alex Leo PT six on YouTube.
- 21:15Speaker 1: He said, how dare you D get married on the
- 21:17Speaker 1: weekend that Tennessee plays Texas at noon? I'm just, I'm
- 21:22Speaker 1: just jagging.
- 21:23Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 21:23Speaker 1: God bless you and your new family. I'm just jagging. Yeah.
- 21:28Speaker 1: He's just jagging. Have you ever jagged somebody? Is that
- 21:34Speaker 1: a term? I'm jagging.
- 21:36Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 21:37Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know what to say. I know
- 21:39Speaker 2: Goomba Ray Matt's like, he's probably thinking his head, I've
- 21:42Speaker 2: jagged myself.
- 21:43Speaker 1: But that's Goomba Ray language. I heard a chuckle over there.
- 21:45Speaker 1: That's Goomba Ray language. It's getting a little blurry in
- 21:47Speaker 1: my brain. Yeah, I'm just jagging you. I got one
- 21:52Speaker 1: here from Cool. Chef.
- 21:59Speaker 2: What the hell is this? I need people at home.
- 22:03Speaker 1: It's a follow-up.
- 22:04Speaker 2: It's a follow-up from Cool Breeze 1808.
- 22:06Speaker 1: And I like, I don't want to. So bad.
- 22:11Speaker 2: So Deke usually does the cards. Now we're hitting a moment.
- 22:14Speaker 2: We've hit a hurdle in the show.
- 22:15Speaker 6: Yeah. Yeah.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Deke usually prints out the cards and they're, they're well done,
- 22:18Speaker 2: but I just want the people at home to see
- 22:21Speaker 2: this is what chef is printed out.
- 22:22Speaker 1: How am I supposed to read that shit? This is
- 22:34Speaker 1: my next one. Yo, what is that? What is that?
- 22:39Speaker 1: How are we supposed to read these? Put my glasses
- 22:43Speaker 1: on the bridge of my desk for some of these.
- 22:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like my grandpa back in the day,
- 22:48Speaker 2: he'd put something in front of him and he'd have
- 22:49Speaker 2: out the magnifying glass.
- 22:51Speaker 1: You got a water bottle right there if need be.
- 22:54Speaker 1: That might be the move.
- 22:56Speaker 2: I've watched Frozen so many times that I'm thinking way
- 22:58Speaker 2: too hard about it. Her parents were shit. What do
- 23:02Speaker 2: you mean you don't know about the enchanted forest? Mom's oblivious,
- 23:06Speaker 2: but her memory didn't get wiped from a rock.
- 23:08Speaker 1: She's the only one who made it out.
- 23:10Speaker 2: I need more, but we have moved on to Moana
- 23:13Speaker 2: and me and wife agree. Moana series is way better.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Got a two and a half year old only child.
- 23:18Speaker 2: Definitely shows.
- 23:19Speaker 1: It's been great. Who was that? This is cool breeze.
- 23:23Speaker 1: Cool breeze. Cannot agree more. I feel like I am
- 23:26Speaker 1: breaking down these Frozen films like they're the Godfather films.
- 23:32Speaker 1: I'm sitting there. I'm going, what in the world with
- 23:35Speaker 1: this second movie? The plot makes zero sense of you
- 23:38Speaker 1: would have thought that mom and dad would have told
- 23:40Speaker 1: them about this slash. I need a better villain. I
- 23:44Speaker 1: don't like that the elements were like kind of the villain,
- 23:47Speaker 1: but they're not the villain. They were just misunderstood because
- 23:50Speaker 1: that kind of feels like the first movie of Elsa
- 23:53Speaker 1: being misunderstood. And why isn't Elsa.
- 23:55Speaker 2: And Anna, are they really going that long and they
- 23:57Speaker 2: can't hang out or build a snowman?
- 24:01Speaker 1: When do they have time to be sisters because it's
- 24:05Speaker 1: always there's just they can't be sisters in every single
- 24:09Speaker 1: movie except for the one charade scene in the second
- 24:13Speaker 1: film and it's like oh okay they are sisters or
- 24:16Speaker 1: when they're little kids and they build the snowman in
- 24:18Speaker 1: the first movie they're having fun and then that's when
- 24:20Speaker 1: she knocks out Anna I need more buddy cop dude
- 24:23Speaker 1: it's just constant it's just things that are more realistic
- 24:27Speaker 1: like I'm sitting there looking at you know I haven't
- 24:29Speaker 1: said anything to Rue But that's my problem with some
- 24:32Speaker 1: of these princess stories. It's like Anna's sitting there ready
- 24:35Speaker 1: to get married because they both say the same word, sandwich.
- 24:40Speaker 1: That's what I was going to say. Yeah, that's what
- 24:42Speaker 1: I was going to say. And you're ready.
- 24:44Speaker 2: And then Ana's mad because people are kind of questioning like, hey,
- 24:47Speaker 2: you kind of just met the guy.
- 24:49Speaker 1: It's like, yeah, they should be. Elsa should freeze your ass. But, hey, Elsa,
- 24:56Speaker 1: we need a big sis in this moment. We need
- 24:58Speaker 1: a big sis in this moment to come in. I
- 25:01Speaker 1: get that you got to be the queen and be
- 25:02Speaker 1: all regal. You got to do your shit. But how
- 25:05Speaker 1: about you come put an arm around your little sis
- 25:08Speaker 1: and be a true sister to her? I need Moana
- 25:11Speaker 1: and Maui. That's buddy cop, man.
- 25:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 25:16Speaker 1: That's a team, man. That's a good squad. That's a
- 25:18Speaker 1: good family, too. That's a good family. Like grandma, mom, dad.
- 25:21Speaker 1: And Kristoff, don't get me wrong, big fan of Kristoff,
- 25:25Speaker 1: but the guy's in love, dude. He's a goon beret.
- 25:27Speaker 1: He's out there, ST6er.
- 25:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:29Speaker 1: He's a good dude. Good dude. But Anna needs somebody
- 25:33Speaker 1: that is her teammate. And hopefully in this third film,
- 25:37Speaker 1: I saw a teaser. Looks like they got a big
- 25:39Speaker 1: bad villain in it. So I got high hopes, but.
- 25:42Speaker 2: We're tearing Frozen down, but make no mistake, it is
- 25:45Speaker 2: a popular one.
- 25:46Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 25:46Speaker 2: And I do enjoy a little bit of Frozen, but
- 25:49Speaker 2: I love nitpicking at like, I don't need my little
- 25:52Speaker 2: girl seeing this.
- 25:53Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 25:53Speaker 2: You're not falling. There is no falling in love this quick.
- 25:56Speaker 2: And a kiss doesn't mean true love. No, but that's good.
- 26:00Speaker 2: That's why I'm saying that that's good in the first film.
- 26:04Speaker 2: That's one thing that I could put my stamp of
- 26:05Speaker 2: approval is, you see what boys are going to do?
- 26:08Speaker 1: He didn't even love her. Yeah.
- 26:10Speaker 2: He's manipulating her. That's what these guys can do. That's
- 26:13Speaker 2: what these guys are going to do. They're going to
- 26:15Speaker 2: come in on the horse. They're going to go, oh,
- 26:17Speaker 2: you're just the younger princess? You're not super important, pretty,
- 26:21Speaker 2: and blah.
- 26:21Speaker 4: Blah, blah?
- 26:22Speaker 1: Woo, woo, woo, woo. Love bomb, love bomb. They're going
- 26:26Speaker 1: to try to sing you a.
- 26:28Speaker 4: Song.
- 26:29Speaker 1: That's Matt right there. It's these narcissist little princes from
- 26:33Speaker 1: the Southern Isles. They're going to come in and try
- 26:34Speaker 1: and steal my scarlet. And I ain't taking that shit, Matt.
- 26:38Speaker 1: Any words for Margoon Beret? I haven't seen Frozen. Okay.
- 26:43Speaker 2: He would know, like, you know, he'd be like, man,
- 26:45Speaker 2: Prince Hans, he's kind of tight.
- 26:47Speaker 1: If Matt ever has a daughter.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Prince Hans kind of, he's kind of playing chess out there.
- 26:53Speaker 4: I would love if Matt ever has a daughter to
- 26:55Speaker 4: be a fly on the wall of him having to
- 26:56Speaker 4: watch princess movies with said daughter.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Cause I could see him. I'll say this. Rip him.
- 27:01Speaker 1: You're right.
- 27:02Speaker 2: But I, Matt to me, like he is, he's a
- 27:04Speaker 2: young Goon Beret and he's a full Goon Beret. But
- 27:09Speaker 2: if he had a daughter, like, I see Matt, like,
- 27:12Speaker 2: she's going to have him wrapped around her finger. He's
- 27:14Speaker 2: going to be dressing as the princess, dude.
- 27:16Speaker 1: Goombrays make the best dads. I'm being serious. Jill has
- 27:21Speaker 1: said it out of her own mouth that those guys
- 27:23Speaker 1: in college are the fun ones, the goofy ones. Everybody's like, oh,
- 27:28Speaker 1: I don't know if he could be, like, a serious boyfriend.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Those are the ones that end up being the girl dads.
- 27:33Speaker 1: They end up being great.
- 27:34Speaker 2: Dads, and then they just get massive reality checks for
- 27:36Speaker 2: how big of, like, you know, fuckboys that they were.
- 27:38Speaker 1: They're just like... Yeah. Yeah. Hey. I'm not saying I'm
- 27:44Speaker 1: a great dad, but massive reality check. No question. This
- 27:48Speaker 1: came from Lewis. 22 on YouTube. He said,' Get involved with Frozen.
- 27:56Speaker 1: Take an interest in everything that she likes growing up,
- 27:59Speaker 1: and it will be the golden ticket for creating a
- 28:01Speaker 1: long-lasting bond. My daughter is Disney obsessed and showing an interest.
- 28:06Speaker 1: Learning the names and songs put you on the driving seat.
- 28:10Speaker 1: She is now eight years old, and we have the
- 28:12Speaker 1: most amazing relationship imaginable. Took her to Disney World, and
- 28:16Speaker 1: she's irrelevant. Guess who is there with all the knowledge
- 28:19Speaker 1: and understanding for what she's immersed in? Old Dad. That's
- 28:23Speaker 1: the biggest dad hack of them all, I promise you.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Love the show. A UK listener.
- 28:29Speaker 2: Shout out the UK. Oh, man, I could have done
- 28:32Speaker 2: an accent. Shout out the United Kingdom.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Come on, man. That's the best kingdom there is, man.
- 28:38Speaker 2: Yeah, a lot of good stuff going on out there
- 28:40Speaker 2: in the old United Kingdom, man.
- 28:44Speaker 1: It's also the font, dude. Every single time I was
- 28:47Speaker 1: laughing during the comment, it was not the comment. It
- 28:49Speaker 1: was just the font.
- 28:50Speaker 2: And I'm looking, you just look like grandpa. You got
- 28:52Speaker 2: them nestled down a little bit on your nose. Got
- 28:54Speaker 2: them really close, trying to read.
- 28:57Speaker 1: Here we go. Dad losses. I got a dad. I'm
- 28:59Speaker 1: holding the dad loss right now.
- 29:00Speaker 3: Okay, okay.
- 29:01Speaker 1: Holding the dad loss right now. You got dad loss.
- 29:04Speaker 1: This is from.
- 29:09Speaker 2: G.
- 29:10Speaker 1: Strawwick. G. Strawwick.
- 29:14Speaker 2: Oh, just Strawwick. This is on Spotify. Shout out to
- 29:16Speaker 2: Spotify commenters.
- 29:17Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 29:18Speaker 2: Will, glad your B-Day weekend included a bow because all
- 29:21Speaker 2: my B-Day weekend, my 22nd B-Day weekend consisted of is
- 29:25Speaker 2: both kids and wife being sick. Ooh.
- 29:29Speaker 1: That's tough. That is tough. That's tough. Perspective.
- 29:33Speaker 2: Trench warfare was at an all-time high. Almost didn't make
- 29:35Speaker 2: it out alive. Still have the troops on the mend.
- 29:38Speaker 2: There was no bow in sight. and had to cancel
- 29:41Speaker 2: the b-day massage an actual real massage no not the
- 29:44Speaker 2: pre-shockwave foreplay.
- 29:48Speaker 1: We all know no man.
- 29:49Speaker 2: Actually likes giving a massage it's all about the quick
- 29:52Speaker 2: entry to the shockwave hashtag dad hack i don't know
- 29:54Speaker 2: how that's a dad hack I should have briefed this
- 29:57Speaker 2: comment before I read it.
- 29:59Speaker 1: I have a hashtag dad hack with that one. A
- 30:01Speaker 1: little gifty I got for Jill. Because she's always asking
- 30:04Speaker 1: for the foot rubs, dude. I pulled trigger. I got
- 30:07Speaker 1: one of the fancy ones. One of the air compressed ones.
- 30:10Speaker 1: The heat stuff. Oh, dude. That might be.
- 30:16Speaker 2: I'll just see if I can get Charlie on board
- 30:18Speaker 2: with something like that.
- 30:18Speaker 1: Oh, dude. It rips. Charlie would love it. I mean,
- 30:22Speaker 1: they're still going to ask you for a back massage
- 30:25Speaker 1: and whatever.
- 30:26Speaker 2: Can you scratch my arm? Because them hands and fingers
- 30:28Speaker 2: are a bit different.
- 30:29Speaker 5: For sure.
- 30:29Speaker 1: Especially for me.
- 30:30Speaker 2: Like, I took a massage class in college. Just FYI.
- 30:35Speaker 1: Okay. You learn something every day.
- 30:37Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 30:38Speaker 1: Willie C. All right. Kyle Sands. Willie Hands. Willie Hands.
- 30:42Speaker 1: Willie Hands. We have Kyle here and Kyle says our
- 30:47Speaker 1: youngest six month old has been, and this is a
- 30:49Speaker 1: dad loss has been growing like crazy. And we had
- 30:53Speaker 1: to upgrade her to a new Grocco car seat. That's
- 30:58Speaker 1: the first time I've heard of that brand. Is that
- 31:01Speaker 1: the first time you're hearing that one? G-R-A-C-O? Grocco? Grocco?
- 31:05Speaker 5: Sure.
- 31:05Speaker 1: Okay.
- 31:06Speaker 2: You know, I can't even get my shit right. Nano
- 31:08Speaker 2: or not nano.
- 31:09Speaker 1: At least make it rhyme with Duna and Nuna.
- 31:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:12Speaker 1: It's easier on the dads. I'm going to miss the
- 31:15Speaker 1: small up a baby one because it was so light
- 31:19Speaker 1: and easy to take apart and clean. So I get
- 31:23Speaker 1: the giant ass seat installed in the car. We hype
- 31:26Speaker 1: it up for our six-month-old and two-year-old to be excited
- 31:31Speaker 1: for the new seat in the car. Our six-month-old loved
- 31:35Speaker 1: it and was super chatty in the car on the
- 31:38Speaker 1: way to Trader Joe's. The two-year-old then said that sister stinks.
- 31:44Speaker 1: And then we all kind of started to smell it.
- 31:46Speaker 1: I automatically started fearing the worst without even seeing it.
- 31:50Speaker 1: I knew for sure. That the six-month-old definitely shit all
- 31:54Speaker 1: over her brand new car seat that we just took
- 31:57Speaker 1: out of the box.
- 31:57Speaker 7: Nice.
- 31:58Speaker 1: Good.
- 31:59Speaker 2: Good.
- 31:59Speaker 1: Good. We got to the Trader Joe's parking lot and
- 32:02Speaker 1: pop open the door. Sure enough, she had a complete blowout.
- 32:05Speaker 1: Literally no poop was even in her diaper. Straight all
- 32:09Speaker 1: over the seat in herself. So that's what they call
- 32:12Speaker 1: a back exit. That went up the back. For any
- 32:15Speaker 1: ST6ers or Goombarees listening. Yeah, then dad's to be. And
- 32:20Speaker 1: dad's to be. Dad's to be. And dad's to be. Bro,
- 32:24Speaker 1: we just gave up even trying to go to the store.
- 32:27Speaker 1: There was no way my wife and I wanted to
- 32:29Speaker 1: even deal with that mess at a 100 degree Fahrenheit
- 32:32Speaker 1: Trader Joe's parking lot. So we wiped down our daughter
- 32:35Speaker 1: the best we could and turned around to head home.
- 32:38Speaker 1: On the way home, the six month old was making
- 32:40Speaker 1: some weird sounds with her mouth. Then she starts having
- 32:43Speaker 1: a fountain of spit up just pouring out of her
- 32:46Speaker 1: mouth all over the car seat. At this point, I'm
- 32:49Speaker 1: white knuckling the wheel praying that we get home before
- 32:52Speaker 1: the car seat takes any more damage. But it didn't matter.
- 32:56Speaker 1: The car seat got destroyed. So I had to take
- 32:58Speaker 1: it off all of its stuff and wash our brand
- 33:01Speaker 1: new car seat that didn't even make it one car ride.
- 33:04Speaker 1: It got seasoned like a new cast iron skillet.
- 33:07Speaker 2: Good.
- 33:08Speaker 1: That was Kyle. good that's a good dad loss.
- 33:10Speaker 2: That's a great dad loss I don't know if I
- 33:12Speaker 2: have one over the last week I feel like a
- 33:17Speaker 2: dad loss with Scotty because Scotty just bosses me around
- 33:21Speaker 2: a lot she bosses everybody around a lot everything is
- 33:25Speaker 2: Scotty's turn Scotty's turn Scotty's turn everything is right when
- 33:30Speaker 2: I get home I can't even get a good greeting
- 33:32Speaker 2: it's shoes shoes gotta take my shoes off oh yeah
- 33:36Speaker 2: yeah what else does she do to me She's still
- 33:40Speaker 2: making you run, do the race across the.
- 33:42Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, she's all about racing.
- 33:43Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 33:44Speaker 1: Dada play.
- 33:45Speaker 2: Uh-huh.
- 33:46Speaker 1: Dada do this.
- 33:47Speaker 3: Uh-huh.
- 33:48Speaker 2: Dada watch me. She's big on Dada watch. She has
- 33:51Speaker 2: to say everybody in the room that's in the room.
- 33:53Speaker 2: So it'd be Dada watch, Mama watch, Woo watch, Sadi watch.
- 33:58Speaker 2: And then you sit there.
- 33:59Speaker 1: Oh, Sadi watches too? Sadi watch. Yeah. Sadi watches herself.
- 34:02Speaker 1: Sometimes she drops a Sadi watch. Okay, cool.
- 34:05Speaker 2: So she needs you to watch her do everything. She just,
- 34:07Speaker 2: she owns me. I don't know if that's like a
- 34:10Speaker 2: dad loss or a dad, dad, like heartwarming feeling.
- 34:13Speaker 1: Yeah. She knows she's, dude, she is, um, she's going
- 34:17Speaker 1: to be a manipulator. She's going to be a manipulator.
- 34:20Speaker 1: It's good that you know that going in.
- 34:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 34:22Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 34:23Speaker 2: Like today, this morning when I'm making them oatmeal, you
- 34:29Speaker 2: want to, you want an oatmeal recipe.
- 34:32Speaker 1: This is my wife's. I can't take it as mine.
- 34:34Speaker 2: Okay.
- 34:34Speaker 4: Okay.
- 34:35Speaker 1: But you get a half cup of oats. Okay.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Sprinkling chia seed. Sprinkle in a little sugar. And this
- 34:41Speaker 2: is a sprinkling of sugar.
- 34:44Speaker 1: Okay. Greek yogurt, cinnamon.
- 34:47Speaker 2: And, you know, you get the whole milk going, whatever
- 34:50Speaker 2: your ratio is.
- 34:52Speaker 1: Mix that up. And now just a quick question.
- 34:55Speaker 2: Sherman. What was the measurements on the cinnamon? I just
- 34:59Speaker 2: go off instinct. I just shake the cinnamon on top
- 35:02Speaker 2: of it.
- 35:02Speaker 8: Cool.
- 35:02Speaker 2: Shake the cinnamon on top of it. That's all feel. Cool.
- 35:05Speaker 2: Then after it's slicing bananas to put on top of
- 35:08Speaker 2: the oatmeal. get them hooked up. But Sadi, she wants
- 35:12Speaker 2: the banana. She wants to grab the bananas. I'm like, no, sweetheart. I, I,
- 35:15Speaker 2: dad has got to cut them first. In the minute
- 35:17Speaker 2: I say that, she knows how to go like sad mode, like.
- 35:22Speaker 1: Kurt, like curdle down, put her, put her head on.
- 35:24Speaker 2: The table, like go into pure sad mode. And I
- 35:28Speaker 2: like to where I can't help. I'm just kind of giggling.
- 35:30Speaker 2: I'm just got to what's wrong, sweetheart? Why are you
- 35:33Speaker 2: getting sad on dad? Is she like nestles her face
- 35:35Speaker 2: in my shoulder?
- 35:36Speaker 1: Oh no.
- 35:37Speaker 2: I'm like laughing while I'm holding her and trying to like,
- 35:40Speaker 2: I'm like, what's wrong with sweetheart? Like I, we got
- 35:43Speaker 2: to cut the banana. It's like, why are you getting
- 35:44Speaker 2: all sad on me? But she does it as like
- 35:47Speaker 2: a tool.
- 35:48Speaker 1: Oh yeah.
- 35:48Speaker 2: Like I'm realizing like if she's holding a video game controller,
- 35:52Speaker 2: like she's just hitting B. Like she's just doing it. Just,
- 35:57Speaker 2: she just knows how to use it. Like something doesn't
- 35:59Speaker 2: go her way.
- 36:00Speaker 1: She's spamming it.
- 36:00Speaker 2: She says anything that's a little bit against what might
- 36:02Speaker 2: be in her head. She'll just go into, she'll lay
- 36:04Speaker 2: her face down on the couch and just go into
- 36:07Speaker 2: sad mode. And I pick her up and she'll nestle,
- 36:09Speaker 2: nestle her head in this morning. I catch her smiling.
- 36:11Speaker 2: Like as I pick her back up, she's still sad,
- 36:14Speaker 2: but she's going to be a manipulator.
- 36:18Speaker 4: Dude.
- 36:19Speaker 1: I think Scarlett's on the same track. And I'm just
- 36:22Speaker 1: seeing warning signs of it because Gammy was in town
- 36:25Speaker 1: watching Scarlett at the house while Jill and I are
- 36:29Speaker 1: in Knoxville. And I come back and there was a
- 36:33Speaker 1: lot of fake crying happening when I got back.
- 36:36Speaker 2: Yeah, they start hitting you with fake cries.
- 36:38Speaker 1: Because what happens when she fake cries in front of Gammy?
- 36:42Speaker 2: She immediately gets the suit.
- 36:43Speaker 1: Come here. Come here. Which, hey, you like Gammy, Gammy.
- 36:49Speaker 1: You got to let the grandparents, that's gammy's game. And
- 36:53Speaker 1: then she tries, she tries pulling that on me. I've,
- 36:56Speaker 1: I've seen her hit her head against the wall and
- 36:58Speaker 1: she keeps on going. She was in the front yard
- 37:01Speaker 1: and did a land on her butt. And this is
- 37:03Speaker 1: a girl that's been walking for like a month now.
- 37:06Speaker 1: And she does her butt and look instantly looks up
- 37:08Speaker 1: at me. Oh, to start to do it. And I just,
- 37:13Speaker 1: I stayed straight. I played it as cool as I could.
- 37:16Speaker 1: That's good.
- 37:17Speaker 2: The old is like with Rue, it's more of like
- 37:18Speaker 2: the random, I love you, Dada. And I think in
- 37:21Speaker 2: my head, I got to be on guard because I
- 37:22Speaker 2: feel like she's buttering me up or something. My second
- 37:26Speaker 2: one feels like, okay, she's like, she knows how to
- 37:28Speaker 2: manipulate the game in a real way. Oh, big time.
- 37:31Speaker 1: Dude, if there's one thing I can say about Scottzilla, Soddy,
- 37:36Speaker 1: she's smart. That's a smart cookie. Yeah, she'll be street smart. Yeah,
- 37:41Speaker 1: you're going to need to be on your toes. And
- 37:44Speaker 1: you're going to need to think, how would an infant
- 37:47Speaker 1: Willie C think in this moment? Because she got a
- 37:49Speaker 1: lot of daddy. Yeah, she got some daddy. She got
- 37:52Speaker 1: some daddy. She got some daddy. My dad loss, which
- 37:57Speaker 1: hopefully somebody out there can identify with this. Jill tells
- 38:01Speaker 1: me last week, honey, she's all out of diapers. She's
- 38:05Speaker 1: all out of wipes at daycare. Make sure you take
- 38:10Speaker 1: her bag with the diapers and wipes. Honey, absolutely. I
- 38:14Speaker 1: got you.
- 38:14Speaker 8: Okay.
- 38:15Speaker 1: So what I heard was take her bag with the
- 38:18Speaker 1: diapers and the wipes. Like take all of that.
- 38:23Speaker 2: I roll up.
- 38:24Speaker 1: They have a very sweet team at our daycare. Roll
- 38:27Speaker 1: into the class. Very first thing daycare lady says to
- 38:30Speaker 1: me is, and you got her wipes and diapers. And
- 38:33Speaker 1: it was like a dramatic pan over to the cubby
- 38:36Speaker 1: with Scarlett's sticker on it. empty dust, maybe like a
- 38:39Speaker 1: little spider cobweb in the corner. I'm like, Oh my God.
- 38:44Speaker 1: I make this huge scene of like apologizing, asking for forgiveness.
- 38:50Speaker 1: Do you guys have any size fours here that, uh,
- 38:54Speaker 1: do y'all have any wipes? And we'll just use that
- 38:56Speaker 1: for today. I'll let Jill know that I forgot the blah, blah, blah.
- 39:00Speaker 1: I had like three missed calls at work. All from Jill.
- 39:05Speaker 1: I'm like, oh gosh, because I called her and she
- 39:07Speaker 1: didn't answer. Jill then tells me, did you not bring
- 39:11Speaker 1: her bag to work? And I said, no, or to daycare.
- 39:14Speaker 1: I said, no, I brought her her bag. She was like,
- 39:17Speaker 1: the diapers and wipes are in the bag. You brought them.
- 39:22Speaker 1: They got them. So whatever this message thing that they're
- 39:26Speaker 1: sending me about this contingency plan, it's already... covered. So
- 39:31Speaker 1: can you please call our daycare and tell them that
- 39:33Speaker 1: you're indeed not an idiot or an idiot in a
- 39:36Speaker 1: different way?
- 39:37Speaker 2: That's dad brain. Because I suffer from that as well.
- 39:43Speaker 2: Even when you do something right.
- 39:45Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 39:45Speaker 1: You think you're wrong. I had these women tap dancing
- 39:48Speaker 1: to figure out a plan to get diapers and wipes
- 39:52Speaker 1: for Scarlett. We'll take some from Chloe's cubby and we'll
- 39:55Speaker 1: take some why she uses the same wipes, you know,
- 39:58Speaker 1: as Jason. So we'll get Jason's wipes. Just making a mess, dude.
- 40:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 40:05Speaker 1: Yeah. I've been in those spots. Actually.
- 40:08Speaker 2: One with Charo, we've been feeding, Waffle's on this different
- 40:12Speaker 2: food routine right now because she's got the allergy, whatever
- 40:15Speaker 2: the hell she's got. She's always got something going on.
- 40:17Speaker 1: Waffle going to Waffle. Waffle going to Waffle. Yeah, yeah.
- 40:21Speaker 1: And she's on a different food routine.
- 40:22Speaker 2: We used to be doing like Farmer's Dog because Farmer's
- 40:25Speaker 2: Dog is like apparently good. But the doc wanted her
- 40:29Speaker 2: on something with, what is it, Royal Canine? You just
- 40:31Speaker 2: open the can and put it in there. They want
- 40:33Speaker 2: to do like a food allergy test.
- 40:35Speaker 1: Okay.
- 40:36Speaker 2: Something like that. So Waffle's got these cans of food.
- 40:41Speaker 2: And so I do it most of the time because
- 40:43Speaker 2: Charlie hates the smell.
- 40:44Speaker 1: It's a bad smell. Feel you there, Charlie.
- 40:47Speaker 2: It is a bad smell. But daddy's one usually hitting
- 40:51Speaker 2: the waffle stuff.
- 40:51Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 40:53Speaker 2: With the farmer's dog, Charlie would always get on me
- 40:56Speaker 2: because I'd cut the top off and the little plastic
- 40:59Speaker 2: would be sitting on the island. And so I'd do
- 41:03Speaker 2: it and then I'd throw, you know, I'd put the
- 41:06Speaker 2: food in the bowl and And then if it was empty,
- 41:08Speaker 2: I'd throw the bag in the trash. But the little
- 41:11Speaker 2: plastic thing would sit over, would sit on the island.
- 41:14Speaker 2: Are you doing goopy side down or goopy side up?
- 41:18Speaker 1: What you talking about? When you open said can. Not
- 41:22Speaker 1: the can.
- 41:22Speaker 2: I'm on Farmer's Dog right now. These are like, what
- 41:25Speaker 2: is it called? Oh, like a sleeve. Yeah, like a sleeve.
- 41:28Speaker 1: Cutting the top.
- 41:29Speaker 2: But the top would always sit on the island. And
- 41:32Speaker 2: Charles would bust my balls. Why do you just not cut?
- 41:35Speaker 2: the sleeve over the trash can. Like you're already right there.
- 41:39Speaker 2: You always cut the top off and you leave it
- 41:41Speaker 2: on the island. If you just open the trash can,
- 41:44Speaker 2: you cut it over the trash can. You don't even
- 41:46Speaker 2: have to worry about it anymore. Small little detail, but
- 41:48Speaker 2: the small details are what win you football games.
- 41:51Speaker 1: Yes, sir. So I'm like, I got you.
- 41:53Speaker 2: So I started to get on the routine of doing
- 41:56Speaker 2: the food over the trash can. Yeah.
- 41:58Speaker 1: Now we're on the cans.
- 41:59Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 42:00Speaker 2: Okay okay so i'll open the top of the can
- 42:04Speaker 2: and when i scrape the food into the bowl i
- 42:06Speaker 2: now throw the can into the trash can because i'm
- 42:08Speaker 2: over the trash can yeah but now she's busting my
- 42:11Speaker 2: ball she's like you know cans are recyclable why you
- 42:14Speaker 2: got them in the trash when you can recycle them
- 42:16Speaker 2: and i'm saying recycling is a conspiracy theory sweetheart it's
- 42:20Speaker 2: a scam i've kind of i have no clue i
- 42:23Speaker 2: know that there is stuff out there it's like is
- 42:24Speaker 2: recycling even that great But anyway, that's beside the point.
- 42:28Speaker 2: But now she's busting my balls because now I'm throwing
- 42:30Speaker 2: the can in the trash can and not in the recycling.
- 42:33Speaker 1: And I'm like, sweetheart, they're not going to recycle it
- 42:36Speaker 1: if it's dirty.
- 42:37Speaker 2: I'm not going to sit here and do the dishes
- 42:39Speaker 2: with the can just so I can recycle it in
- 42:41Speaker 2: the recycling bin.
- 42:42Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 42:44Speaker 2: But also you got me in the routine of doing
- 42:46Speaker 2: it over the trash can and I throw it into
- 42:47Speaker 2: the trash can. You got to give me time. You
- 42:50Speaker 2: got to give me time to adjust to the new routine.
- 42:52Speaker 2: Cause yesterday I have in the trash can. She's like,
- 42:55Speaker 2: you're doing it. She's like, do you just, do you just,
- 42:57Speaker 2: do you do this? Did you just get me going? Like,
- 43:02Speaker 2: I know you heard me the other day and I got,
- 43:04Speaker 2: I actually, I don't even say anything. I just keep operating. Hey,
- 43:07Speaker 2: this one's really going to get Charles going.
- 43:09Speaker 1: Cause I'm operating.
- 43:10Speaker 2: I'm making the breakfast. I'm making the lunch for Rue.
- 43:13Speaker 2: So I just let that one roll off the back. Yeah. Yeah.
- 43:16Speaker 2: Because I just, you know, anyway, I don't even know
- 43:18Speaker 2: what got me there.
- 43:19Speaker 1: Well, all that to be said, I think you were
- 43:22Speaker 1: saying that that was somewhat of a dad loss, correct?
- 43:25Speaker 1: Is that where your mind was at?
- 43:26Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe a small dad loss, like with the marriage aspect.
- 43:28Speaker 2: She's like, you know, she's like, I've told you this
- 43:33Speaker 2: a couple times now.
- 43:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 43:35Speaker 2: Why are you throwing the cans in the trash can?
- 43:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 43:37Speaker 2: The recycling bin's right behind it. I'm thinking I've now
- 43:41Speaker 2: gotten in the routine of, Of throwing it away, doing
- 43:44Speaker 2: the food over the trash can. Because you got me
- 43:46Speaker 2: to do it over the trash can from the sleeves.
- 43:48Speaker 1: Something fun that you can do with her that I
- 43:50Speaker 1: believe my dad did this with my mom is take
- 43:54Speaker 1: her to the landfill here in Nashville and show her, oh,
- 43:58Speaker 1: that's crazy. There's just one pile. Oh, is that the
- 44:02Speaker 1: recycling truck going to the same place as the trash truck? No,
- 44:06Speaker 1: they couldn't be putting it in the same. Oh, no,
- 44:09Speaker 1: they did. They put it in the same pile, didn't they?
- 44:13Speaker 1: Is that what they do?
- 44:14Speaker 2: Not every city, but some do. Cause there's, there's, there's,
- 44:17Speaker 2: there's like pro recycling. There's pro recyclers out there. Yeah.
- 44:21Speaker 1: And there's some anti, there is a gray area. It's like,
- 44:23Speaker 1: I'm in the gray area.
- 44:24Speaker 2: To me it doesn't like, Hey, I think there's a
- 44:27Speaker 2: little bit of truth on the anti-recycling, the anti-recyclers out there.
- 44:30Speaker 2: It is not everywhere.
- 44:31Speaker 1: I'm not saying that that is a everywhere thing, but
- 44:34Speaker 1: that is a thing where they have a recycling bin, blah, blah, blah.
- 44:38Speaker 1: And you can even see it at the trash truck level.
- 44:41Speaker 1: They grab your recycling bags and they throw it in
- 44:43Speaker 1: the same trash truck.
- 44:47Speaker 2: You think they're going to go sort that out at
- 44:49Speaker 2: the landfill? You think they're saving the world? You think
- 44:52Speaker 2: they're saving the world the way Do you think they're
- 44:54Speaker 2: saving the world the way you think they are?
- 44:58Speaker 1: Willie C, great question. And I don't know. It's a
- 45:01Speaker 1: quote graphic. Just mumble it a couple of times. Got confused.
- 45:06Speaker 1: Got confused trying to assurance of like universal truth question.
- 45:13Speaker 1: Oh no. But maybe you want to do that. Maybe
- 45:16Speaker 1: they are saving the world the way they are. You
- 45:18Speaker 1: know what we're going to do on Saturday morning?
- 45:19Speaker 2: We're going to go to the dump. Pack the kiddos up.
- 45:22Speaker 2: Let's get the bag. Make sure they have their snacks.
- 45:23Speaker 1: It'll be fun. It'll be fun. Hey, you don't like
- 45:26Speaker 1: the smell of the dog can. Get ready, honey.
- 45:28Speaker 2: Let's get the lawn chairs. We're going to go set
- 45:30Speaker 2: up shop. We're going to have a morning at the landfill.
- 45:34Speaker 1: What are those recycling cans doing over there? Huh? That's interesting.
- 45:39Speaker 1: So I guess I could throw my trash wherever I
- 45:40Speaker 1: feel like.
- 45:44Speaker 3: It.
- 45:45Speaker 1: Crack a cold one.
- 45:46Speaker 2: Oh, let's do some crack a cold one. Yeah.
- 45:49Speaker 1: Of course, we have our Some are saying the drink
- 45:52Speaker 1: of the fall. Some are saying the drink of the fall.
- 45:55Speaker 1: I want to know commenters too. I would love to
- 45:58Speaker 1: know if they've done the caramel apple floats yet. Hey,
- 46:02Speaker 1: we just kind of like skimmed over that. Like were
- 46:07Speaker 1: people in the comments talking about that? Because that float
- 46:10Speaker 1: was crazy. Crazy.
- 46:12Speaker 2: People were in the comments about me interrupting Chef's heartfelt message.
- 46:16Speaker 2: I was going to say, they were. Just different reason.
- 46:18Speaker 2: Spooktober is damn near here.
- 46:20Speaker 3: Yep.
- 46:21Speaker 2: Starts tomorrow, October 1. You're listening on Wednesday. October 1
- 46:23Speaker 2: is on Thursday. We're in full swing, but the drink
- 46:27Speaker 2: of the month, the drink of Spooktober is caramel apple.
- 46:30Speaker 2: But you want to tickle your fancy, it's caramel apple, lollipop,
- 46:33Speaker 2: and ice cream. I'm just going to keep my low tone.
- 46:37Speaker 2: I'm not going to oversell this. Just try it. There
- 46:44Speaker 2: you go.
- 46:47Speaker 1: Man, that's a good Olipop. Will, would you want to
- 46:51Speaker 1: go first in our Cracker Coal one?
- 46:53Speaker 2: My Cracker Coal one is Rue. Rue is getting us
- 46:59Speaker 2: Rue yesterday morning.
- 47:01Speaker 1: We were outside.
- 47:02Speaker 2: I was trying to fix the car seat because one
- 47:04Speaker 2: seat buckle was a little too tight. So I'm in
- 47:07Speaker 2: there sweating a little bit trying to get the whole
- 47:09Speaker 2: car seat thing figured out. Rue's doing hopscotch with the
- 47:12Speaker 2: little chalk that she made in the driveway. Rue finds
- 47:15Speaker 2: a couple fall leaves. You talk about embracing spooktober. Rue
- 47:17Speaker 2: is very much embracing spooktober.
- 47:19Speaker 1: Let's go, Rue.
- 47:21Speaker 2: Rue comes up and she's like, Daddy, I got you
- 47:22Speaker 2: a leaf. And it's just a brown leaf, a couple
- 47:26Speaker 2: holes in it. Just a fall leaf, a dry ass leaf. Leaf.
- 47:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 47:30Speaker 2: And she's fired up about it. She's like, I got
- 47:32Speaker 2: you this one. She got that for me. She got
- 47:35Speaker 2: a green one for mama. It's not all the way
- 47:37Speaker 2: fall dry yet, but it, they look the same. They
- 47:40Speaker 2: look like brothers.
- 47:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 47:41Speaker 2: Just a couple of different colors. It's like Elphaba and
- 47:44Speaker 2: her sister and wicked.
- 47:46Speaker 1: One's green. One's not.
- 47:47Speaker 3: Yes.
- 47:48Speaker 1: Hey, great reference by the way.
- 47:50Speaker 2: And so Rue's so fired up about the leaves, but
- 47:54Speaker 2: also she's concerned. She wants these to be real gifts
- 47:57Speaker 2: that we bring around with us.
- 47:59Speaker 1: Got it.
- 48:01Speaker 2: So I got to give this one to mama. Sweetheart,
- 48:03Speaker 2: I'm going to set in the cup holder. We'll get
- 48:05Speaker 2: this one to mama when we get home from school today.
- 48:08Speaker 2: That is going to set his in this other cup
- 48:10Speaker 2: holder and it's going to be, it's going to sit
- 48:12Speaker 2: right here.
- 48:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 48:13Speaker 2: So I think I'm going to drop her off at
- 48:14Speaker 2: school and then we're going to probably forget about the leaves.
- 48:17Speaker 2: Cause it's like, they're a couple of dry leaves.
- 48:19Speaker 1: Oh no.
- 48:21Speaker 2: We get home and before dinner, she's like, Hey dada,
- 48:26Speaker 2: I got to go get the leaf. from your truck.
- 48:29Speaker 2: I remember it's in your truck. Like I got to
- 48:30Speaker 2: show mama her gift. So I'm like, okay, let that
- 48:34Speaker 2: go again.
- 48:34Speaker 4: No, no, no.
- 48:35Speaker 1: I'll go with you. She climbs in the truck. She
- 48:37Speaker 1: gets it. She's like, is this a green one? Yeah.
- 48:39Speaker 2: Mama's is a green one. Yours is the brown one.
- 48:40Speaker 2: So we got to come in. She's a laid this show. Mama,
- 48:43Speaker 2: this leaf this morning. I, we, neither of us can
- 48:49Speaker 2: leave the house. Without us having the leaf. Oh, you
- 48:53Speaker 2: got to bring it with you. You got to keep
- 48:54Speaker 2: bringing the leaf.
- 48:55Speaker 4: Okay.
- 48:55Speaker 2: You got to keep bringing the leaf. So the leaf
- 48:57Speaker 2: right now is currently sitting out in my truck.
- 48:59Speaker 1: Okay.
- 48:59Speaker 2: I actually meant to bring it in so I could
- 49:00Speaker 2: show everybody just this, you know, just a regular old
- 49:03Speaker 2: fall leaf.
- 49:04Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah.
- 49:04Speaker 2: But she's so fired up about these leaves that we can't,
- 49:08Speaker 2: she wants us to have these leaves with us because
- 49:09Speaker 2: they're a gift from her to us. She found them outside.
- 49:12Speaker 2: You're not going to find any more of them.
- 49:13Speaker 1: They're rare. Gotta frame it, dude. That's my only note.
- 49:18Speaker 2: That might be how you really turn this into a
- 49:19Speaker 2: crack of cold one. But my crack of cold one
- 49:21Speaker 2: goes into Rue already embracing the fall weather. Embracing spooktober.
- 49:26Speaker 2: She could let mama leave this morning.
- 49:28Speaker 1: Hey, mama, you're leave.
- 49:30Speaker 2: How are you not thinking about it? I've told you
- 49:31Speaker 2: a couple times now.
- 49:34Speaker 1: What is going on in your day that you keep
- 49:36Speaker 1: on forgetting about this leave?
- 49:40Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 49:41Speaker 2: Can't do it.
- 49:42Speaker 1: What we'll do, we did little inflatables like in front
- 49:48Speaker 1: of the house. Like we have a Hello Kitty and
- 49:50Speaker 1: she's got her little pumpkin trick-or-treat bucket. And then we
- 49:55Speaker 1: got a little spooky jack-o'-lantern blow up. And we actually
- 49:59Speaker 1: took Scarlett out this morning to go say good morning
- 50:02Speaker 1: to those.
- 50:03Speaker 2: Nice.
- 50:03Speaker 1: We're getting her into the vibes. She's got a nice little,
- 50:08Speaker 1: today she's wearing a sleeveless um kind of like sweater
- 50:13Speaker 1: material uh white turtleneck underneath it it's got like floral
- 50:18Speaker 1: pattern on the sweater we're we're getting into the feels
- 50:23Speaker 1: of fall but what we need to do is we
- 50:26Speaker 1: have to get yours and charles leaves framed.
- 50:31Speaker 2: We might have to hang them in the studio. Yeah,
- 50:33Speaker 2: we should.
- 50:34Speaker 1: And Walgreens has like some real, shout out, no free
- 50:37Speaker 1: shout out Walgreens. No free shout out to Walgreens. They
- 50:39Speaker 1: got some great frames that we can do that too.
- 50:41Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 50:42Speaker 1: Great, a great crack of coal one. Oh, thank you.
- 50:44Speaker 1: Love that one. I thought that that would be a
- 50:46Speaker 1: good one. It was a great one. Mine was a
- 50:50Speaker 1: perverse solo. Are you checking on him over there? Yeah,
- 50:56Speaker 1: I'm just seeing if he's fired up about the crack
- 50:58Speaker 1: of cold one. Matt, what did you think about Will's
- 51:00Speaker 1: crack of cold one? I thought it was pretty good.
- 51:04Speaker 1: Of the leaves? Yeah. I think it was all right.
- 51:07Speaker 2: It was okay.
- 51:10Speaker 1: What do you think? Do you mind if I tell
- 51:13Speaker 1: my crack of cold one and then we could revisit?
- 51:16Speaker 1: Let's revisit Will's after you. Okay. Compare and contrast? Yeah.
- 51:20Speaker 1: I mean, I'm thinking dry leaves, framing them. It's all right.
- 51:24Speaker 1: That's a true goon beret right there. That's a goon
- 51:28Speaker 1: beret brain. You know, he's not wrong. He's not wrong.
- 51:31Speaker 1: He's probably going to like mine more. Oh, he's going
- 51:34Speaker 1: to love yours. He's going to like mine more because
- 51:36Speaker 1: mine's about being able to be a little goon beret-ish
- 51:40Speaker 1: because it was our first solo weekend with no Scarlett.
- 51:44Speaker 1: That is my crack of cold one. That's a golf clap.
- 51:48Speaker 1: I know Matt's loving that already. He's like, oh, no
- 51:51Speaker 1: kids weekend? We went to Knoxville for the Tennessee-Texas game.
- 52:01Speaker 1: I know what a lot of y'all are thinking. Hey, Sherman,
- 52:04Speaker 1: didn't Jill, you know, not go to that Baylor game
- 52:09Speaker 1: in Atlanta, but you went to the Texas-Tennessee game with
- 52:12Speaker 1: her to support her team? I did. That's a great
- 52:15Speaker 1: question that somebody brought up. Who brought that up? Just
- 52:19Speaker 1: like some of the PT sickos are probably like sitting
- 52:22Speaker 1: there going like, Hey, shouldn't she like, you know, maybe
- 52:26Speaker 1: go to a Baylor game now, you know? And support you. Yeah.
- 52:30Speaker 1: Which is, if they're going to ask that, that's a
- 52:33Speaker 1: valid question. That is a valid question. That's a valid question.
- 52:36Speaker 2: Oh, I see Sherm going to a Baylor game, but
- 52:37Speaker 2: she doesn't want to go with him. She wants to
- 52:39Speaker 2: go to some birthday party. But then when it's Texas, Tennessee,
- 52:42Speaker 2: Sherm's going to be right there.
- 52:45Speaker 1: Hold it down, 10 toes for his wife. But it
- 52:50Speaker 1: was an incredible weekend from start to finish because we
- 52:53Speaker 1: treated it like a vacation because Knoxville is beautiful. We
- 52:59Speaker 1: got down there on Friday, had a hotel room, stayed
- 53:03Speaker 1: Saturday night after the game. We did the full game
- 53:10Speaker 1: day experience. We went to the bus and tailgate. And
- 53:13Speaker 1: it was a ton of fun just kind of being
- 53:15Speaker 1: off the clock and really getting to soak in that environment,
- 53:20Speaker 1: getting to meet a ton of PT Sixers. Honestly, I
- 53:24Speaker 1: really want to shout out my wife because it was
- 53:26Speaker 1: a really cool moment of her engaging with these PT
- 53:30Speaker 1: Sixers that were engaging with us. But just her like
- 53:38Speaker 1: loving me really well in that moment and being really
- 53:41Speaker 1: supportive of this show that we get to do together
- 53:45Speaker 1: was like, I felt very loved in that moment and
- 53:48Speaker 1: very celebrated by my wife in that. Thank you, Jilly
- 53:51Speaker 1: Bean for just, she's always a rock star, but it's
- 53:55Speaker 1: really cool when you get to like jump into a conversation.
- 53:58Speaker 1: People are talking about stuff that they're passionate about and
- 54:01Speaker 1: Jill's just fully immersed in the conversation and helping to
- 54:07Speaker 1: drive it even further. And, oh, Sherman does that too.
- 54:11Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. And it was, it was a lot
- 54:14Speaker 1: of fun. Um, then after that, we got to, uh,
- 54:18Speaker 1: watch her Texas Longhorns, which that was an absolute blast, uh,
- 54:23Speaker 1: getting to be in the stadium, uh, getting the stadium food,
- 54:29Speaker 1: the drinks, uh, And just kind of feeling like a
- 54:33Speaker 1: couple on a date, even though it's a football game,
- 54:36Speaker 1: like it feels very date-ish. It's like she, you know,
- 54:39Speaker 1: that final drive, and I hate to bring up that
- 54:41Speaker 1: final drive, but that final drive, Jill's death gripping me
- 54:45Speaker 1: the entire time when y'all got the onside kick. I mean,
- 54:48Speaker 1: both of her arms are wrapped around. She's got her
- 54:51Speaker 1: cheek just digging into my shoulder, um, We're kissing at
- 54:55Speaker 1: the end of the game. Sorry again. Apologies, chef. You
- 54:58Speaker 1: don't need to.
- 55:00Speaker 2: This is a moment right here.
- 55:01Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Don't worry about chef. We're kissing at the
- 55:04Speaker 1: end of the game. And she... It wasn't even me.
- 55:11Speaker 1: She wanted to... sit in the stands for like quite
- 55:15Speaker 1: a while. We just sat there. It's like the stands
- 55:18Speaker 1: were filling out and we just kind of sat there
- 55:21Speaker 1: in the stands. We're talking to like Tennessee fans, Texas fans.
- 55:25Speaker 1: People are like still just kind of filing out. And
- 55:28Speaker 1: then eventually it was really just kind of Jill and
- 55:30Speaker 1: I like sitting in that section still like, you know,
- 55:34Speaker 1: my arms around her a little bit, but we're like,
- 55:37Speaker 1: we're just kind of next to each other. And it
- 55:38Speaker 1: was like, dang, It has been a really, really long
- 55:42Speaker 1: time since like, we've just been able to be Jill
- 55:47Speaker 1: and Sherman, like this couple, this, uh, married couple in
- 55:52Speaker 1: a moment like this and just getting to soak it
- 55:55Speaker 1: in and a really beautiful, but we're both passionate about
- 55:58Speaker 1: college football. We both love it. Tennessee's kind of like
- 56:01Speaker 1: a Mecca I would say of, of college football. So
- 56:04Speaker 1: to get to soak in that type of game, that
- 56:07Speaker 1: type of environment with my wifey was incredible. And the
- 56:12Speaker 1: next best part was shout out Nanette and shout out Gammy,
- 56:19Speaker 1: Jill's mom, of just having no stress about Scarlett, knowing
- 56:25Speaker 1: that she's in the best hands possible. We're getting all
- 56:29Speaker 1: the little photos throughout the weekend and I put her
- 56:33Speaker 1: hair in this kind of style. I went and bought
- 56:36Speaker 1: her new outfits. We, I took her to gymnastics class.
- 56:40Speaker 1: It's just, I've never felt like I was operating like
- 56:44Speaker 1: that in quite a while. It was, I love that.
- 56:48Speaker 1: It was truly a crack of cold one.
- 56:50Speaker 2: So are you saying that fans were clearing out of
- 56:54Speaker 2: the stadium and you and Jill are just sitting in
- 56:57Speaker 2: this bleachers, like holding each other?
- 57:00Speaker 1: Kinda, but not like a, not like a dramatic, like.
- 57:03Speaker 1: Not like a gay way. Not in a gay way.
- 57:06Speaker 1: I can promise you that. It was very hetero.
- 57:08Speaker 2: We were like two souls sharing the same heart.
- 57:12Speaker 1: Merging as one.
- 57:16Speaker 3: I actually need to apologize to Jill. There was a
- 57:18Speaker 3: moment that I just thought about and I haven't told
- 57:22Speaker 3: it yet. So we're at the bus and tailgate, right?
- 57:26Speaker 3: And I'm talking to Jill and she said, yeah, like,
- 57:29Speaker 3: me and Sherman are having our first couple weekend together.
- 57:32Speaker 1: Like we want to have it, like we want to
- 57:34Speaker 1: have fun. Yeah.
- 57:35Speaker 3: And she was like, we want to go out, do
- 57:37Speaker 3: all the stuff. I'm telling her, go to old city,
- 57:39Speaker 3: all this things. And I go, well, why don't we
- 57:42Speaker 3: just all do it together? And she goes, Matt, you're
- 57:46Speaker 3: not going to text her. You're not going to text us.
- 57:49Speaker 3: She said, she should, she said, you're, you're back in Knoxville.
- 57:52Speaker 3: You're going to have too much fun. You're going to
- 57:54Speaker 3: get in there and you're not going to text us.
- 57:56Speaker 3: I forgot to text.
- 57:58Speaker 1: Did Jill really say that? Yeah, and I told her,
- 58:01Speaker 1: you know what?
- 58:01Speaker 2: No, I will.
- 58:02Speaker 1: I will. I'm turning a new leaf. Call back to
- 58:06Speaker 1: the leaf. Call back to the leaf. Call back to the...
- 58:09Speaker 1: That was well done! This isn't a framed leaf. This
- 58:12Speaker 1: is a... This is a bad leaf. Matt, can I...
- 58:16Speaker 1: Can I make you feel a little bit better? Well, first,
- 58:17Speaker 1: I'd like to apologize to Jill. Oh, go ahead.
- 58:19Speaker 3: And you.
- 58:20Speaker 1: Please, go ahead. So, just apologies. Trying to turn this
- 58:24Speaker 1: new leaf. Spooktober's coming.
- 58:26Speaker 3: Spooktober's coming. Still got a ways to go. Still got
- 58:28Speaker 3: a ways to go. Still got a ways to go.
- 58:31Speaker 3: I'd like to apologize. Yeah, I got in there pretty
- 58:33Speaker 3: early and yeah, that's all I'm going to say about that.
- 58:37Speaker 3: I will formally accept said apology. I don't feel like
- 58:42Speaker 3: you have anything to apologize about to me specifically.
- 58:45Speaker 1: I'm sure Jill will accept his apology. I do have
- 58:50Speaker 1: to say an unk is going to unk as the
- 58:53Speaker 1: kids say. And Jill and I went straight to Texas
- 58:57Speaker 1: Roadhouse after the game, and we're in bed, I believe,
- 59:02Speaker 1: by 7.45.
- 59:03Speaker 2: Oh, that's a great day.
- 59:06Speaker 1: That is a great day. The biggest stake in... baked
- 59:10Speaker 1: potato bellies that you can imagine and we're just cuddled
- 59:14Speaker 1: up watching the worst crime drama of something on netflix
- 59:19Speaker 1: or hulu that like we're just zonked.
- 59:22Speaker 2: That's a great day it was i don't know about
- 59:24Speaker 2: them kind of days where you're in bed by eight
- 59:26Speaker 2: o'clock oh And exhausted.
- 59:28Speaker 1: Hey, Gooner's going to goon. Gooner's going to goon.
- 59:31Speaker 2: But Ong's going to Ong.
- 59:33Speaker 1: And you would have gotten a text message of, Matt,
- 59:36Speaker 1: we love you so much, but we got to go
- 59:38Speaker 1: in Texas Roadhouse. We got to go, man. And yeah,
- 59:44Speaker 1: our shins were killing us too. We both wore cowboy
- 59:47Speaker 1: boots and we're walking all day. So you're all good.
- 59:53Speaker 1: You were drinking your carbs, which is good. Liquid lunch.
- 59:56Speaker 1: Liquid lunch. Yeah, buddy. Dad hacks. Oh, what we got? Yes,
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: dad hacks.
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: We didn't hit the dad hacks because I got a
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: dad hack that's going to roll into Charles Price in
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: there wondering, so what'd you put your foot down about?
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: This is Aaron on Spotify.
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: This is a dad hack for all the daddies out there.
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: Dad hack for dinner time. I have a three-year-old daughter
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: named Adeline. She is the most amazing little girl and
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: extremely well-behaved for the most part. When it comes to
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: dinner time, she takes one bite and says she's full.
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: Instead of fighting to get her to eat, and I
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: like this move. This is a move that I've kind
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: of adopted as well. We let her be done, but
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: when she is hungry again, she has to eat what
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: she didn't at the dinner table. No snacks, no dessert,
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: or anything else. It's a game changer. Thanks for the
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: great soad, my dudes. Thanks for the great soads, my dudes.
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: Oh, let's go.
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: That is a good one right there. Because I'm the
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: same way. We'll go back and forth.
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: A little bit.
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: Or Charles will kind of go back and forth with Rue.
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: But I'm sitting there. It's like when I see her
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: whining and doing kind of that piss poor attitude, like
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: I'm full or I don't like this or whatever, even
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: though she hasn't even tried the food.
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: I will sit there and tell her, hey, you can
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: be done. All good. No cookie. No snacks. Yeah.
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: No nothing else. And if you're tired, you can march
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: your little ass up to bed. Yeah, no hug, no kiss.
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: I don't threaten her with no hug, no kiss. But
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: my brain is in that mode of like, hey, you
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: can be done.
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: It's all good. Be done. You're going to be hungry.
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: And when you're hungry, that's what you're going to have
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: to eat. All done.
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: As Miss Rachel would say. As Miss Rachel would say.
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: She'll hit the all done.
- 1:01:34Speaker 8: All done.
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: Because Scottie's tough, too, at eating dinner. That's a great
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: dad hack. And last night, we were sitting down for dinner.
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: We had like these... Good meatballs and veggies. I'm trying
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: to think of what else. And some rice.
- 1:01:47Speaker 4: Ooh.
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: Good looking dinner. And Ruth sits down and she's like,
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: I can just see it in her body language. My man, Aaron,
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: who's writing in about this, like he knows these, the
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: parents out there know what I'm talking about.
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: Where their body language is just like, they're kind of like,
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: they're kind of like dragging slowly on the table. And
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: it's like, I don't want to eat this. And I'm like, Hey,
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: you're eating what's on the dinner plate. Yeah. If you
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: don't want it, that's fine, but you're not having anything else.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: She might bring up.
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: Pasta or whatever. No, this ain't Burger King. This ain't
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: have it your way. You're going to eat what's on
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: the dinner plate. There are so many families that don't
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: get to sit down at dinner and have dinner together
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: as a family, or they don't get to eat a
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: meal like this. They don't just get to sit there
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: and pick and choose what they're going to eat for dinner.
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: You're going to eat what's on your plate. If you
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: don't want it, that's totally fine. But when you are hungry...
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: This is what you're going to have to eat. I'm
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: just letting you know. I'm letting you know right now.
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: That was kind of happening before wifey came over and
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: sat down. That's kind of a combo I'm having with
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: Rue a little bit because I'm just, I'm over the
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: whiny attitude.
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: This has been a battle for you, Will, for what
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: I would say almost a yeet. I mean, how long
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: have we been doing this show? A little over a year.
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: A year and some change.
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: It's gotten more prevalent the last couple weeks, I would say.
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: I'm getting to.
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: The breaking point of, like, I'm done doing the working
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: with you. Like, I'll still work with her. Like, there's
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: a shift that's happening in my brain. Like, yo, you're
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: old enough. You know better in my book.
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: You know this.
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: This is the routine every night.
- 1:03:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: We sit down and have dinner as a family. Yeah.
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: You complain about your food.
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: I'm over the complaining.
- 1:03:28Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: You eat a couple bites, like my man Aaron said.
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: You can eat a couple bites and talk about how
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: I'm full. Isn't that, hey, you can be done.
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: But you ain't getting nothing else. You can go to
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: bed hungry.
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: Because this feels like your first major dad battle that
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: you have really been going through since the start of
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: this podcast. This has been an ongoing thing. With Scarlett,
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: she's a year and three months now. If she's not eating,
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: we have to supplement with something else because we're wanting
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: to make sure that she's getting nutrition.
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: Like, we're not in that realm yet where it's like, hey, no,
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: we're eating this. And we're not going to go get
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: one of your little pumpkin snacks from the fridge. Right now,
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: it's like, hey, go get some of the pumpkin snacks.
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: See if she'll eat that. Because I just feel like
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: she hasn't gotten, you know, enough food today. Jill's calling me.
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: Should I answer it? It could be.
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: Yeah, go ahead. We can, we can, Matty O can
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: pause it or edit through.
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: Jill, you're on for the dads. We're recording right now.
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: Is everything okay? Yes. Yes. Everything is fine. I'm just
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: getting like all these calls from daycare that Scarlett is
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: not doing well. And so I don't know what to do.
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: Cause I know you told me that she had a
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: good drop off.
- 1:04:53Speaker 4: So.
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: She had a good drop-off. She's probably missing Gammy. Gammy
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: flew back today.
- 1:04:59Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: Yeah. They're having a hard time. I asked them if she's, like,
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: acting sick. Does she have a fever? They said no,
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: but she's just, like, refusing to eat and fussy.
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: Uh-oh.
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: So, I know. I think we gotta.
- 1:05:18Speaker 6: I just want to get a poll check on you of.
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: Well, a live pulse check on the show. I would say,
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: I would say in all honesty, she's missing gammy. She,
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: she's fine health wise. Like she's, she's good. And it's what? 1130.
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: So she'll be hitting a nap soon. And we know
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: that her favorite meal is lunch. She's going to be hungry.
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: She probably gonna.
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: She, they said she refused lunch.
- 1:05:47Speaker 8: And I was like, well, I got snacks in the bag.
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:05:52Speaker 4: I didn't mean to interrupt y'all I forgot that you
- 1:05:56Speaker 4: were recording.
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: No this is important Keep your phone just cause I'm
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: like swamped at.
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: Work So We might need.
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: To chat later We might need to chat later We'll
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: do a pulse check Okay well tell everybody I had
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: so much fun at the Best in Smallgate It was
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: the best day ever And I loved meeting everybody And
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: all the funny DMs So thank you All the laughs Hey,
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: first off, we were just waxing poetically about how much
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: everyone loved to see you. Matt Malone's here. Chef is here.
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: Will's here. We love you, Jill. I love you guys
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: so much. I had so much fun this weekend. And honestly, honey,
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: I know that you're swamped at work. You dial into that.
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: I'll take care of the Scarlet stuff. I'll reach out
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: to the daycare and we'll come up with a plan
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: of like after nap stuff if it's still looking bad.
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: I'll reevaluate and I'll let you know.
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: Yeah. Just call me when you're done recording and we
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: can chat.
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: Okay. Perfect. I love you so much.
- 1:06:58Speaker 6: Bye.
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: Atta boy.
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: No, but thank you. Atta boy. That was good. That
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: was good.
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: We all know Scar, Scar. She's got to push through
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: the fray a little bit. She has to push through
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: the fray. That's just mom concerned.
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: Yeah. Hey, she's not doing well. Okay, what is it?
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: She's sick.
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: No fever. No, no. Okay.
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: It seems like she's just having a little off day.
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: She's missing gammy. Missing gammy a little bit. Uh-huh. But
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: she's got to live in the gulag. Yeah. Let's see
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: how she is after nap time.
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: Let's see how she is. Great work. There's a reason we.
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: Pay that place so much money to watch a child.
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: Because you heard her talk about being swamped at work.
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: It's like, okay. But that's what I need to adopt
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: more is like, that was a good hint to Sherman. Hint, hint.
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: I'm swamped at work.
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: But she also knows, like, I'm currently recording right now.
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: I'm a little busy, too.
- 1:07:45Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: But you just. But I need to. You handled that. Okay.
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: That's for the dads, man. That's for the dads, man.
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: That's PT Sitko work right there.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: Also, first time on the show witnessing a live rep.
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: That was unreal work. I feel like that was smooth.
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: You've got to have live reps, right?
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: You've got to have live reps. I mean, we've had
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: a very minimum. I don't know if we've had a
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: live rep like that ever.
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: Maybe four or five. It can't always be filmed. Yeah,
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: but not like that. It can't always be. That might
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: be the first one. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Good live rep.
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: That was a true live rep. I see what you're
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: saying of like a parenting question.
- 1:08:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:08:19Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: The PT Sickos right now, they're commenting. Great live rep
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: right there.
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: Great coaching by you. That was teamwork. This is dadding
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: right now.
- 1:08:28Speaker 3: Yeah, dude.
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: And that is the kind of stuff on a Saturday
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: when you're with the boys and you do get one
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: of those and you have multiple dads around. Everybody's coming
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: in and... what's going on?
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: Cause say you're in the pocket solo. Who knows where
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: you're at? What kind of day you've had? You might say, well,
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: I've had a long day too. And right there, you're already,
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: you're not even handling, you're not even seeing over the weeds.
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: It's always the worst.
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: Let's say, I think she's fine. If she does this,
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: she's not sick. Like we're just going to like, I'm,
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: I'm busy too.
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: And then right there, it's just a couple of rams
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: batting battering heads right now.
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: Yeah yeah man yeah oh for sure For sure.
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: God, great work. Great work, Papa Team 6 out there.
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: Yeah, thank you, PT6. All right, let's get into Dad Collins.
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: Of course, Dad Collins presented by our good friends at Gravely.
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: Shout out, Gravely. Shout out, Gravely, man. And our first
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: one's going to be from Deke on his honeymoon. I
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: have a voicemail here from Deke. We wanted to check in.
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: Honeymoon check-in. Honeymoon check-in with Deke. I want to know
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: if Deke started BUDS training. I don't know if I
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: should get in on his personal life like that. We
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: may have to let him speak on it.
- 1:09:47Speaker 8: Hello for the dad's team.
- 1:09:48Speaker 6: This is Funkled Deke. First time caller, many time listener.
- 1:09:53Speaker 6: And we are calling from the beautiful location of St.
- 1:09:58Speaker 6: Vincent and the Grenadines because I'm on my honeymoon boys.
- 1:10:01Speaker 8: I'm here with my wife.
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: Hi.
- 1:10:04Speaker 8: That was my wife.
- 1:10:05Speaker 6: I will say again, my wife and gentlemen, I'm just
- 1:10:07Speaker 6: calling to let you know we had A perfect wedding,
- 1:10:10Speaker 6: perfect weather.
- 1:10:11Speaker 8: The ripping stuff could have gone better. Still perfect. Every
- 1:10:15Speaker 8: single aspect of it was breathtaking, perfect. Family loved it.
- 1:10:18Speaker 6: It was just everything we ever wanted except for, and
- 1:10:21Speaker 6: we'll talk about it when we get home, no free
- 1:10:23Speaker 6: shout-outs because they suck. Generation Tux, use anything else on
- 1:10:26Speaker 6: the planet. Generation Tux sucks. We can talk about it
- 1:10:28Speaker 6: when I get home.
- 1:10:29Speaker 8: On the honeymoon, gentlemen, love you all very much. I
- 1:10:32Speaker 8: hope the Sode goes great. I can't wait to listen
- 1:10:34Speaker 8: from this side of the phone for the first time
- 1:10:37Speaker 8: in over a year.
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 1:10:39Speaker 8: Guys, we're going to have the best week of my
- 1:10:40Speaker 8: life because I'm on my honeymoon, and I'll see you
- 1:10:42Speaker 8: guys next week. I love you all so much.
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: I love PT6.
- 1:10:43Speaker 8: A ton of the guys in the Discord were showing
- 1:10:45Speaker 8: me love.
- 1:10:46Speaker 6: I literally was blown away by seeing some of those
- 1:10:48Speaker 6: messages and blown away by the love from you guys.
- 1:10:51Speaker 6: I hope you had a good time in Knoxville. God,
- 1:10:53Speaker 6: I miss you guys, but I'm going to go back
- 1:10:55Speaker 6: to my wife now. She's calling my name.
- 1:10:57Speaker 8: Wife, call my name.
- 1:10:58Speaker 6: Yay!
- 1:10:59Speaker 7: I got to go, guys.
- 1:11:00Speaker 8: I love you, PT6. Take the trash out. Someone's taking
- 1:11:03Speaker 8: mine out this week for me. I love you guys.
- 1:11:04Speaker 3: See you later.
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: All time from Deke.
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: Deke, I know you're listening right now, my friend. Maybe
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: you're watching. A lot of drop off. Drop off with
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: the cards this week. Drop off with the cards this week.
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: What happened with the cards?
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: You can't... We're going to get into shout outs right here.
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: And again, I just want people at home to see
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: these are the cards. This one's like three paragraphs and
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: each paragraph gets smaller. Like I'm at like an eye
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: doctor's appointment right now.
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: This right here is one line. Oh, Deke, we're hoping,
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: we hope you're well.
- 1:11:48Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: I was going to say, maybe we can hold it up.
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: One of them to the screen.
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: And Hayden Jamison probably put in some good stuff in
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: the email.
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: We'll get to it here shortly. I don't have any words.
- 1:12:07Speaker 4: I was making the cards yesterday, and I was telling
- 1:12:10Speaker 4: them right before.
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: I was putting them down.
- 1:12:12Speaker 4: I'm going, man, I can't believe that I've never noticed
- 1:12:15Speaker 4: how small the font is week to week on all
- 1:12:18Speaker 4: the cards. Not realizing Derek, when he takes screenshots, he
- 1:12:21Speaker 4: sizes up his browser so it's bigger text. I'm just
- 1:12:24Speaker 4: sitting there confounded. I'm like, man, they read it like
- 1:12:27Speaker 4: this every fucking week?
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: Last week?
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: The only ones that are like solid ones are the
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: ones like the Spotify comments.
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: It was, I just took screenshots. That's how Derek does
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: it too. So that's it. Derek does the same thing.
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: He just sizes up his browser, bigger text.
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: I'm learning that now. Yeah, exactly. You put it in
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: a little thought, little brain activity. Let's size up the
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: phone a little bit. Yeah.
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: Not, not a lot going on. Yeah. Dad brings the
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: real one from the weekend. Yeah. This, this is last
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: week's this one right here. And then this one is
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: this week's. But we love you, Deke, and we love you, Chef.
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: We do love you, Chef. And if there's anything to
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: ever be said about Chef, he owns it every single time.
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: Every single time. He does. All right. Solo dad trip
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: to Costco. Shout out. No free shout out Costco.
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: No free shout out to Costco. You can go get
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: some lollipop there.
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: You can't. You can't. We are buffering. This is our
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: favorite time.
- 1:13:30Speaker 5: Going on, boys? Long time listener up here in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Ben,
- 1:13:35Speaker 5: just love what you guys do. Listen every week.
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: Wanted to call in with.
- 1:13:39Speaker 5: A little bit of an unexpected dad hack or dad win.
- 1:13:42Speaker 6: Nice.
- 1:13:43Speaker 5: Boys, if you can, get yourself a solo shopping trip
- 1:13:46Speaker 5: out of the house. Just went to Costco unsupervised. Wife
- 1:13:52Speaker 5: and kiddo were at home napping peacefully. I'm out providing
- 1:13:55Speaker 5: for the family. Costco by yourself? Fucking rips, dude. I'm
- 1:13:59Speaker 5: riding shopping carts down entire aisles. I'm punking 13-year-olds who
- 1:14:04Speaker 5: think they can beat me in a foot race. I'm
- 1:14:06Speaker 5: liable to act up in any type of way out
- 1:14:09Speaker 5: here all by myself as long as I'm home within
- 1:14:12Speaker 5: the allotted time before old boy wakes up from his nap.
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: Give it a try.
- 1:14:16Speaker 8: Let me know how you guys think.
- 1:14:17Speaker 5: Appreciate what you guys do. Keep it up. Don't keep
- 1:14:20Speaker 5: it under an hour.
- 1:14:21Speaker 8: Love you guys.
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: That's poetry. That is.
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: I was thinking last night, like when dinner was winding down,
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: if Rue was going to eat her food fast enough,
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: she ended up eating her, her, the meatballs and everything.
- 1:14:31Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: She did a good job, but I was hoping it'd
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: go faster. Cause we ate dinner a little bit early.
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: Cause I'm thinking in my head, like I want to
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: kind of just want to get a target trip in,
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: but I was going to bring Rue, like get one
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: of them at least out of the house. Maybe just
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: make up some, go get some cereal.
- 1:14:44Speaker 6: Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: Yeah. Cause I'm out of my cereal that I like
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: to eat.
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: Cause I'm sure. Cause it sounds like he only has one.
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: I'm sure that that dad hack even works for splitting the,
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: split the kids up, have one be at home. You
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: take one. If you can't swing the solo. Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: It's kind of hard to leave the house like right
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: before bedtime. Hey, I'm going to go on a target run.
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: What for? I don't know. I need some cereal. God.
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: If we could start doing micro vlogs at this office,
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: I would want a micro vlog of you going to
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: that BP gas station deal.
- 1:15:16Speaker 8: Oh.
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: That's the, yeah. Hey, Matt. Shout out, Matt knows it. Hey,
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: shout him out, Matt.
- 1:15:22Speaker 3: Shout out Juan from the BP and Bellmead. Just an
- 1:15:25Speaker 3: unreal guy. Me and my dad have known him for years.
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: Willie sees now met him and just an all class guy.
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: And I want him to travel with us one weekend.
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: That's his one.
- 1:15:33Speaker 2: I know that's his one request. I looked at me.
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: I'm like, dude, I would, we can do that. We
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: can try to make that shake at some point. Apparently
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: he's a nasty golfer too.
- 1:15:41Speaker 3: So.
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: And who doesn't know lawn at BP? If you're in Westmead.
- 1:15:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: Who doesn't? He's friends with everybody. Yeah. And if you,
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: if you want to talk about if there's ever a
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: position open at Boston, that's a sales position. Dude, he's
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: unreal at his job. He's unreal, man. It's a community
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: between the pumps. I'm serious.
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: Dude, it's a community because I want to get some
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: talk time in with him, but sometimes you can't because
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: he's already talking to other people and they have their
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: own relationship going on.
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: And everybody wants a second with him because he truly
- 1:16:12Speaker 3: makes your day. Have you ever seen him angry?
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: Never. He's always happy.
- 1:16:16Speaker 3: He's always happy to see you. It's truly a community.
- 1:16:19Speaker 3: And I'm glad that you met Lon. I've known him
- 1:16:20Speaker 3: for years. Okay, so I went, Matt, and I have
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: yet to... He's the owner.
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: He also runs the front. I have yet to tell
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: him that I am affiliated with Bussin. I got nervous.
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: I walked in there. You got starstruck. I got starstruck.
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: I co-host on a podcast as sponsored by Olipop. We
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: have 12 cases of the stuff that we get for free.
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: He talks me into buying an Olipop at his gas station.
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: I get the stuff for free and I buy it
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: there because he's so good at his job. Don't name
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: drop Will. Don't name drop you because Will had told
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: me y'all's families, y'all know each other. And I said,
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: here's the deal. I don't want to do that unless
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: I'm in person with you or in person with Matt.
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: I'm telling you, you just got to let him know.
- 1:17:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:17:10Speaker 2: That you're part of the crew.
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: Yeah. Because it's family as soon as you say that.
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: It's family without it.
- 1:17:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: But once you say those couple words, it's like, oh yeah,
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: he's with us. Okay. Okay. He's a beast, man. We
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: may need to do a little micro vlog and go.
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: Like if you're in Nashville, you want to make your
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: way to the BP in the Bellmead area. Oh, dude.
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: And it's game over.
- 1:17:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: Even if you just go in and ask them for
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: a signature. I would get, I kind of want to
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: get an Olipop. We have those Olipop hats. I want
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: to get one signed by them.
- 1:17:42Speaker 3: We might need to take a group photo, sign it,
- 1:17:44Speaker 3: throw it on the wall.
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: Yeah. Now that is an idea. Could you imagine walking
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: in there like, I don't want to buy nothing. I
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: just want to know if I can get a photo
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: with you out front.
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: Dude. Hey, hey. Jersey swap. This is so OD and
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: I might get clowned in the comments, but you know,
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: it's some gas stations where like you'll take a picture,
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: like musicians will like have a headshot and they'll sign
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: it and be like, we love you.
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: And they like hang it up there.
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: Do you think we could take a picture, sign it
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: and then hide it somewhere in the BP? I don't
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: think we'd have to hide it. He'd probably have that
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: thing hanging.
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: Oh yes, bro.
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: I've known it since I was a kid. Like he is,
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: he doesn't age either.
- 1:18:22Speaker 4: No.
- 1:18:23Speaker 3: And I've known it since a kid and he he'll
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: talk to my, he'll go to my dad.
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: How's J train? Good. How's Willie C? Good.
- 1:18:30Speaker 3: What are you doing today? Where I'm about to travel.
- 1:18:31Speaker 3: Cause I always get him electrolytes with water when we travel.
- 1:18:34Speaker 3: Now it's a little different cause I live at a
- 1:18:36Speaker 3: different spot, but he knows, I mean, he is dialed in.
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: He's dialed dude. He's the best, bro. Shout out Lon.
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: Shout out BP. Shout out Lon. I also want to
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: shout out Gravely. That was this week's Dad Call-Ins presented

- 1:19:50Speaker 1: is not big blank. This isn't big nicotine. This is
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: an American company that is.

- 1:20:49Speaker 1: do lesson. You like that? Yeah, let's do that. Okay.
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: Let me get a couple of shout outs off though. Please.
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: I'll do my best.
- 1:20:58Speaker 2: This one's from Mr.
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: D pain. Zero three on YouTube. Show it to the
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: camera one more time.
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: Nick, my guy, you don't understand how much I love
- 1:21:15Speaker 2: and appreciate you. Megan's story brought on the waterworks, but
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: more so fired me up to hear her impact and
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: what she was able to accomplish in raising awareness and
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: funding for not one, but two research labs.
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: F childhood cancer. Hashtag more than four.
- 1:21:35Speaker 2: Hey.
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: Hey, and shout out to everyone affiliated with Evy the Brave.
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: And for everyone, this will be our last episode that
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: is in the month of childhood cancer awareness. Just want
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: to thank everybody for their support. Buying those shirts on
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: our store. It's really cool to see. This one right
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: here from Daniel. Here, use my water cup and then
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: you can It'll kind of magnify it.
- 1:22:07Speaker 2: It just hurts the eye. I know I got squinty
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: eyes to begin with.
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: Boys, Daniel from Southern Cal.
- 1:22:14Speaker 2: Before I get into my wifey shout out, I wanted
- 1:22:15Speaker 2: to jog Will's memory and bring up the date, December 30th, 2009.
- 1:22:20Speaker 2: Will Compton and his damn Cornhuskers absolutely laid the ultimate
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: smack down on my Arizona Wildcats in the Holiday Bowl,
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: sitting pouring rain for four quarters. I thought I'd never
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: forgive anyone from Nebraska ever again, but then I saw
- 1:22:32Speaker 2: a little podcast called For the Dads with Will Compton,
- 1:22:35Speaker 2: and I thought, I'd see what this son of a
- 1:22:37Speaker 2: gun was up to. Now, 17 years after he and
- 1:22:40Speaker 2: his buddies broke my heart, I've been a day one
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: For the Dads listener. I've absolutely loved listening to you
- 1:22:45Speaker 2: guys talk shop and share your experiences as girl dads.
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: Now it's nothing but love for old Willie C. I've
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: got no bones to pick with Sherm since Arizona laid
- 1:22:53Speaker 2: it down 41-17 on your Baylor.
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: Bears last year.
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: Damn. Sorry for the drive-by. That was uncalled for.
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: Damn. See, now the font gets smaller. He sized the
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: font down himself. I want to throw that out there. Like,
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: that's too hard. Thank you, boys, for bringing us laughter.
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: I see a P.S. down here.
- 1:23:11Speaker 2: We are absolutely begging for a Pablo Charo and Jill.
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: Let's make it happen. Don't forget to take the trash out.
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: Yeah, the... Just want to throw it out there. He
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: sized the font down in the email. I get it.
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: I just want to throw that out there.
- 1:23:28Speaker 2: Daniel, what are you doing sizing the font down? You
- 1:23:33Speaker 2: should have known Chef wouldn't know to size it up.
- 1:23:40Speaker 2: Matt with the pat on the back. Come on, Daniel.
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: Was that our email as well?
- 1:23:48Speaker 2: No, I got the email right here from Justin Wigg.
- 1:23:51Speaker 2: And this is a family photo in Paris with the
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: Eiffel Tower behind.
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: But again, you're like. You want me to hit the email?
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: I'll do my best. Justin and I will do my
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: best with the email.
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: Oh, damn.
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: Hey, boys. Fair warning. Sad alert. Oh, sad alert. Sad alert.
- 1:24:16Speaker 2: Sad alert, but I've... But I've got to crack a
- 1:24:25Speaker 2: cold one. I've got to crack a cold one finish. Sorry,
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: Chef and Deke, it's a long one. All right, buckle up.
- 1:24:36Speaker 2: One year ago today, our world turned upside down. My
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: wife was laying with our six-month-old son, Asher, while he
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: was napping. As he woke up, he started having a seizure.
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: My wife called 911 and they talked her through giving
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: rescue breaths as he had stopped breathing. By the time
- 1:24:53Speaker 2: paramedics got there, he had stopped seizing and was breathing
- 1:24:56Speaker 2: on his own again, but they still rushed him to
- 1:24:58Speaker 2: the hospital. While trying to figure out what might have
- 1:25:03Speaker 2: caused the seizure, one of the nurses suggested having the
- 1:25:05Speaker 2: neurology team check him out. They ordered an MRI and
- 1:25:09Speaker 2: when the imaging came back and the neurologist said, quote,
- 1:25:13Speaker 2: I've never seen anything like this before. I realized how
- 1:25:15Speaker 2: serious this was about to get. I realized how serious
- 1:25:18Speaker 2: this was about to get. Before they could give us
- 1:25:21Speaker 2: any more info, we would need to transfer to the
- 1:25:23Speaker 2: children's hospital here in Chicago, Bear Down, for additional imaging.
- 1:25:29Speaker 2: Here we learned that our son had a very rare
- 1:25:32Speaker 2: peel AV fistula in his brain. Fixing it would require
- 1:25:38Speaker 2: multiple immobilization procedures. where they would run a catheter from
- 1:25:44Speaker 2: his groin up through his heart and into his head
- 1:25:47Speaker 2: and essentially super glue the leak shut. They do it
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: in stages to try and prevent too much clotting. After
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: two procedures, they had successfully closed the shunt and he
- 1:26:00Speaker 2: started improving immediately. Unfortunately, there was too much clotting and
- 1:26:05Speaker 2: now we had to do injections with blood thinners twice
- 1:26:09Speaker 2: daily for the next three months. Since then, our days
- 1:26:12Speaker 2: had been consumed with follow-up appointments, imaging, testing, and weekly
- 1:26:16Speaker 2: visits from our awesome speech, occupational, and physical therapists. In June,
- 1:26:23Speaker 2: we finally got the best news possible. His Enneagram was clear,
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: the clot had shrunk, and no follow-ups from them for
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: one year. It was shortly after we got out of
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: the hospital that I found your show, and it was
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: exactly what I needed. This was the hardest thing that
- 1:26:43Speaker 2: I'd ever been through. And I was in the Marine
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: Corps and got blown up a couple of times in Iraq.
- 1:26:49Speaker 2: I wasn't sure how I was going to handle this.
- 1:26:52Speaker 2: Nolan Ryan level curveball life was throwing at me. The
- 1:26:55Speaker 2: laughs and cries and everything in between is exactly what
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: I needed to get back in the saddle and show
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: up every day. Now I'm flexing my PT6 skills daily
- 1:27:05Speaker 2: and truly soaking up every minute with my son. We
- 1:27:07Speaker 2: even took a big trip to Paris this month to celebrate.
- 1:27:10Speaker 2: Keep up the good work. I look forward to the
- 1:27:12Speaker 2: new show every Wednesday. Don't keep it under an hour.
- 1:27:16Speaker 2: We're a little over right now.
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: P.S.
- 1:27:20Speaker 2: Shout out my MT6er who has been the most amazing
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: mama bear and deserves all the credit for getting us
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: here in one piece.
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: Justin Wiig. Justin. I showed that picture of them in
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: Paris again. I had to really like it. Well done
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: by you. Well done.
- 1:27:42Speaker 2: This is the fam right here out in Paris. Man,
- 1:27:45Speaker 2: I can imagine. Rue had that seizure. It didn't get
- 1:27:50Speaker 2: to that level where you had to run a catheter
- 1:27:53Speaker 2: and go up and fix some clotting and everything else,
- 1:27:56Speaker 2: but I've talked about it before on the episode.
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: I didn't realize that was the exact same thing that
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: Rue had. Rue didn't have, like Rue had a seizure. Yes.
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: It wasn't this.
- 1:28:06Speaker 2: Got it. She had to stay overnight and go through
- 1:28:08Speaker 2: all the neurological testing. And it felt like the doctor
- 1:28:11Speaker 2: was telling us this is, he like, it could be
- 1:28:13Speaker 2: a one-off.
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: It has been, knock on wood. Yes, yes, of course.
- 1:28:17Speaker 2: But as far as the most scared and fear and
- 1:28:21Speaker 2: emotions that I've had in fatherhood, like that was... That
- 1:28:25Speaker 2: was a tough one. Going in and seeing your little
- 1:28:27Speaker 2: girl naked at the hospital. We're all rushing there because
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: this was the daycare scare.
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: When she was at daycare. How old was she again?
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: Oh, man. she was like months old i mean she
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: was i don't know my wife's gonna correct me maybe
- 1:28:42Speaker 2: two like not two yet but it was like they're
- 1:28:48Speaker 2: rushing in the ambulance charles rushing from home i'm rushing
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: from the shop yes Speeding to get to the emergency
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: room and you just see your little girl, like, you
- 1:28:57Speaker 2: got the IVs, got all the stuff plugged in her,
- 1:28:59Speaker 2: the tubes in her nose.
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: Like, they're kind of emotionless. Emotionless.
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: You're not really grabbing your finger and you just see the... Oh, yeah, right, dude.
- 1:29:09Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: I would crumble. Bro, I'm talking... I would crumble. Yeah.
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: A lot of emotion.
- 1:29:15Speaker 2: I was sitting with her overnight, seeing her in the
- 1:29:17Speaker 2: little head thing the next morning. She was in good
- 1:29:19Speaker 2: spirits the next day, but that moment was very... Very
- 1:29:23Speaker 2: scary when you just don't know what caused it or
- 1:29:26Speaker 2: what's going on. They obviously go a step further and
- 1:29:30Speaker 2: find something very rare to where they had to do
- 1:29:32Speaker 2: procedures the next day. Yeah. So I can imagine the hell.
- 1:29:37Speaker 2: He talks about being in the Marine Corps, getting blowups
- 1:29:40Speaker 2: in Iraq. He's like, I ain't got nothing on this. Man,
- 1:29:43Speaker 2: the fear that goes in.
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: Justin was his name Justin shout out Justin shout out
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: to y'all's family too I'm so glad y'all got to
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: celebrate and get to do a really cool trip to
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: Paris oh yeah dude so deserving and y'all are y'all
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: are incredible parents for being able to go through that
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: and be able to smell the flowers and live life
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: to the fullest and I'm sure that gives you an
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: appreciation for life oh man But yeah. Getting to the
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: other side of that. Lesson of the week. Lesson of
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: the week. Run it up with the lesson, my friend.
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: I got a quote from Marcus Freeman. Yes, sir. He
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: got a ball coach. He got a ball coach. He said,
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: I fail often. I'm not the perfect father and perfect husband,
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: but you try to be intentional. You try to be
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: intentional and present with your family when you are home.
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: That's probably more important than anything. If you go home
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: and you're physically there, but mentally you're not there, then
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: you failed your kids. You failed that opportunity that you had.
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: I try to put my phone down. I try to
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: listen to what my kids want to talk about. They're
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: not always going to remember what I said about football.
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: They're going to remember how they saw Coach Freeman as
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: a father and a husband. Marcus Freeman. That's a banger.
- 1:31:03Speaker 3: Banger.
- 1:31:05Speaker 2: Take out the trash, man. Thank you, guys. Continue to
- 1:31:08Speaker 2: drop comments. You want to be featured on the show.
- 1:31:10Speaker 2: We fucking love the Papa Team 6 community. Deke, congratulations again,
- 1:31:15Speaker 2: my friend. We will see you next week. Happy Spooktober.
