A music legend has left us: Victor Willis, the powerhouse voice behind Village People classics like “YMCA” and “Macho Man,” passed away at 74 after a brief illness. Once a Broadway star in “The Wiz,” he co-wrote many of the band’s biggest hits and helped define a cultural phenomenon with his electrifying stage presence. Though he left the group in 1979, he made a triumphant comeback in 2017, even releasing new music last month — proving his enduring spirit.
