- 0:07Speaker 2: The World's a Vigeon podcast. Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. Evan,
- 0:18Speaker 2: He's gonna be going to Drake May's pro day as
- 0:20Speaker 2: well as Jaden Daniels are. We gonna have to keep
- 0:22Speaker 2: a leash on you, though, because you can't be like
- 0:24Speaker 2: running out there and running break off at the stem.
- 0:28Speaker 3: You gotta stack them.
- 0:30Speaker 4: So maybe I'll get like a radar gun and put
- 0:33Speaker 4: it like right behind him and get the mph.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Can you get a radar gun through PSA?
- 0:38Speaker 5: Is that?
- 0:38Speaker 3: Obviously?
- 0:38Speaker 4: Texas Bart was like, gosh, down's good. Who the heck
- 0:41Speaker 4: is this quarterback? And that's when he tells me his
- 0:43Speaker 4: autobiography of Drake May and.
- 0:46Speaker 6: The shotn't just be a biography.
- 0:49Speaker 2: I hope the best for him. It's a human being.
- 0:51Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, do you hope Zach Wilson does?
- 0:53Speaker 2: Yes, you don't they do? Both things are true. Mac
- 0:56Speaker 2: is not good and the team did everything they could
- 0:58Speaker 2: to ruin them.
- 0:59Speaker 3: My question is I can kiss that guy in the lips.
- 1:01Speaker 1: This is Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:04Speaker 7: Presented by Toyota's official website for deals buy a Toyota
- 1:07Speaker 7: dot com.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Okay, we're back here on Picture's Unfiltered. We're aware of
- 1:15Speaker 2: the audio and video issues. Apparently the app is working fine.
- 1:21Speaker 2: So if you're having trouble on YouTube or anywhere else,
- 1:25Speaker 2: go to the Patriots app and for now listen to
- 1:28Speaker 2: us on the app because that's that's sounding okay, So
- 1:33Speaker 2: all right.
- 1:33Speaker 8: We'll just power through it.
- 1:35Speaker 3: Because Mike made some really good it's rare. Everybody has
- 1:38Speaker 3: to defense.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Mad yea, hopefully.
- 1:48Speaker 5: I feel like Mike has been pounding the table about
- 1:52Speaker 5: the lack of depth on the defense all season long
- 1:54Speaker 5: and just.
- 1:55Speaker 4: Pointing the finger at the on of the team.
- 1:59Speaker 9: There's so many holes that need to be filled better.
- 2:02Speaker 4: I would say holes are like with a small.
- 2:05Speaker 8: It's just not a capital again, and it's early, but
- 2:08Speaker 8: you know, just when I you know, I got to
- 2:10Speaker 8: be honest, there's a list of guys that you kind
- 2:11Speaker 8: of like, and most of those guys that I like
- 2:13Speaker 8: that I thought fitter are kind of gone now.
- 2:15Speaker 6: So it is what it is. I don't think that
- 2:17Speaker 6: it's you know, you make you make.
- 2:18Speaker 4: Some some really good points. And I don't mean that
- 2:20Speaker 4: sarcastically because you know. To me right now, I look
- 2:25Speaker 4: at what's happened so far in free agency for the
- 2:27Speaker 4: Patriots and I say, who signed with another team that
- 2:31Speaker 4: you were really interested in them going after? And I
- 2:34Speaker 4: don't really see a lot of names that have come
- 2:37Speaker 4: off the board yet where I'm like, wow, that was
- 2:39Speaker 4: a miss. You know, not signing Calvin Ridley would be
- 2:41Speaker 4: a miss in my opinion, not signing one of the
- 2:43Speaker 4: top tackles that are in free agency would be a miss.
- 2:46Speaker 4: What I have paid Christian Wilkins one hundred and ten
- 2:48Speaker 4: million dollars to then turn around and hand Christian bar
- 2:51Speaker 4: Moore one hundred and ten million dollars Probably not so
- 2:54Speaker 4: Like there's just those things are but you the edge
- 2:56Speaker 4: rushers that made it.
- 2:57Speaker 8: You made it good, like Armstrong from the Cowboys, like
- 3:00Speaker 8: Grenard Who who signed a big deal almost immediately. You know,
- 3:03Speaker 8: just a couple of guys that I think would really
- 3:04Speaker 8: make a nice Bookend three with with with.
- 3:08Speaker 4: Judniky good player.
- 3:11Speaker 3: Ency. In general, there's been a lot of movement, but
- 3:13Speaker 3: not a lot of splashes.
- 3:15Speaker 10: Like there have been a lot of a lot of
- 3:17Speaker 10: guys changing teams, especially the wide The running backs just
- 3:22Speaker 10: seemed to be like changing socks.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Like you know, it's do you.
- 3:26Speaker 10: Want Aaron Jones or do you want you know, Josh
- 3:30Speaker 10: Jacobs Josh Jacobs, and you know they just decided, well,
- 3:33Speaker 10: we'd rather have Josh Jacobs and Aaron Jones won't take
- 3:35Speaker 10: our numbers, so that's fine.
- 3:36Speaker 3: You let him go. Then he signs with Minnesota. Like
- 3:39Speaker 3: all these teams just seem to be.
- 3:41Speaker 10: Trading running backs, but you don't see the big deals
- 3:45Speaker 10: for you know that those top tackles Tyron Smith and
- 3:52Speaker 10: and and Jonah Wins and you don't see why wide
- 3:54Speaker 10: receivers kind of all got done before free agency started,
- 3:58Speaker 10: so retaining you know, you're seeing minor moves with like
- 4:01Speaker 10: Darnell Mooney, I think got three and thirty nine. You know,
- 4:04Speaker 10: I think anybody would love to have Calvin Ridley at
- 4:06Speaker 10: a number like that. You're not you know, it's probably
- 4:08Speaker 10: not gonna happen, so I think it has. I think
- 4:12Speaker 10: Evan's point about the best players haven't moved yet.
- 4:17Speaker 3: You know that they're.
- 4:18Speaker 10: Really top, I mean on the offensive side of you know,
- 4:20Speaker 10: you know that the Patriots would be interested in Yeah,
- 4:22Speaker 10: Like that's the way you put it, Like the not
- 4:24Speaker 10: that the best players haven't moved. You put it, what
- 4:28Speaker 10: player would you be really wanting pounding the table for
- 4:31Speaker 10: it that has moved? Yeah, if you were the Patriots,
- 4:34Speaker 10: and I think you can make an argument that really
- 4:35Speaker 10: none of them, no, And that's that's why I just
- 4:37Speaker 10: brought up the defense.
- 4:37Speaker 8: But probably a good spot to bring up Antonio Gibson,
- 4:40Speaker 8: who you know, just seems to fill that need that
- 4:42Speaker 8: they haven't really had since they lost James White with
- 4:44Speaker 8: you know, a legit receiving back who you know, again,
- 4:47Speaker 8: it's that model that I like. He's like twenty six,
- 4:50Speaker 8: just coming off his first contract. He's at a good age,
- 4:53Speaker 8: so I you know, I like that signing. I think
- 4:55Speaker 8: it was necessary. And we talked a lot about how
- 4:57Speaker 8: are they going to tap this free agency running back class?
- 5:00Speaker 8: And I think you made a great point Paul, that
- 5:01Speaker 8: like that's the group that went first. And you know,
- 5:04Speaker 8: we talk about the draft too, where it's you know,
- 5:06Speaker 8: not really top heavy, but there's you know, guys throughout
- 5:08Speaker 8: that have skill sets.
- 5:09Speaker 6: So just kind of points the direction of what where
- 5:11Speaker 6: they're going.
- 5:12Speaker 10: To that point, you know, Washington said we're gonna let
- 5:14Speaker 10: Gibson go even though Gibson's caught forty plus passes three
- 5:17Speaker 10: years in a row, and we're just gonna sign Austin
- 5:20Speaker 10: Eckler to replace him. You know, some of the kind
- 5:22Speaker 10: of you know, probably more of a multi threat. Gibson
- 5:26Speaker 10: had one really good year as a runner. He had
- 5:28Speaker 10: a thousand yards last year. He had career lows in attempts,
- 5:31Speaker 10: yards and touchdowns last year as a runner, but career
- 5:35Speaker 10: highs in receptions and yards receiving yards.
- 5:38Speaker 6: So there's a little bit more of a swing.
- 5:40Speaker 8: Like, yeah, you know, he's got a major injury his
- 5:41Speaker 8: but if you hit on him and he stays healthy,
- 5:44Speaker 8: then it's a better move.
- 5:45Speaker 6: But there are you know, there are some complications.
- 5:46Speaker 4: Yeah. The one thing I like about Gibson is, obviously
- 5:49Speaker 4: besides the skill set, is the fact that he's only
- 5:51Speaker 4: twenty five years old. I think some of these other
- 5:53Speaker 4: running backs that did get moved were a little bit
- 5:57Speaker 4: more expensive and also a little bit older, or at
- 6:01Speaker 4: least had more touches under their belt where they are
- 6:03Speaker 4: going to get, you know, grinded down a little bit more.
- 6:06Speaker 4: But I think the running back market is interesting because
- 6:10Speaker 4: all this to meet connects to draft classes, and the
- 6:13Speaker 4: running back draft class is not very good. At the top.
- 6:16Speaker 4: So a lot of these teams are moving on these
- 6:18Speaker 4: big name running backs in this class of free agents,
- 6:21Speaker 4: whereas last year none of these guys could get long
- 6:23Speaker 4: term deals, so now they're all signing for multiple years.
- 6:26Speaker 4: I think wide receiver is the opposite where Calvin Ridley
- 6:30Speaker 4: can't get the deal he wants because I think a
- 6:32Speaker 4: lot of teams look at it and say, we could
- 6:35Speaker 4: sign Calvin Ridley for eighteen million dollars a year, or
- 6:38Speaker 4: we could draft lad McConkey in the second round and
- 6:41Speaker 4: probably get a similar player as Calvin Ridley, so.
- 6:44Speaker 3: They get a big pat in the back from Fred Kirsh.
- 6:47Speaker 4: Yeah, you could use whatever. I mean, there's fifteen of them,
- 6:50Speaker 4: so you could use whatever example at receiver that you want.
- 6:52Speaker 4: I think this wide receiver market's learning that it's it's
- 6:56Speaker 4: gonna be tough for these guys to get top of
- 6:58Speaker 4: market money when this receiver class is so stack. So
- 7:00Speaker 4: I think it works both ways.
- 7:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:02Speaker 8: I think for the Patriots too, though Ridley would make
- 7:05Speaker 8: sense to me because they don't want to have to
- 7:07Speaker 8: find that guy in the first two rounds. Like I mean,
- 7:09Speaker 8: I'm sure that they could to your point, but to
- 7:11Speaker 8: be able to focus on quarterback and not missing out
- 7:14Speaker 8: on this tackle class, and then you can maybe take
- 7:16Speaker 8: a swing in the third round. But those guys, you know,
- 7:18Speaker 8: there's gonna be some questions about guys in the third round.
- 7:20Speaker 8: So I think you know, for the Patriots to maybe
- 7:22Speaker 8: over extend a little bit and take Ridley, you know
- 7:25Speaker 8: you have a proven NFL performer. Is he that number one?
- 7:28Speaker 8: Maybe just below that, But.
- 7:29Speaker 4: You want to have a foundation for the rookie quarterback
- 7:33Speaker 4: of some proven NFL commodities. You can't have him step
- 7:36Speaker 4: into an offense where you're expecting the rookie and then
- 7:39Speaker 4: two rookie receivers to all of a sudden blossom in
- 7:43Speaker 4: year one together. You have to have some sort of
- 7:46Speaker 4: veteran competence that he's gonna step in and he's gonna
- 7:49Speaker 4: have Ridley, he's gonna have Kendrick Bourne, he's gonna have
- 7:51Speaker 4: Hunter Henry. And then you hope that Jalen Polk turns
- 7:55Speaker 4: into a great player. You hope that Xavier Leget turns
- 7:57Speaker 4: into a great player, but you can't bank on that
- 7:59Speaker 4: river being great.
- 8:01Speaker 2: They one is the tackle class deep enough where you
- 8:03Speaker 2: could wait till the third round.
- 8:05Speaker 8: I mean like there are there, there would be guys,
- 8:07Speaker 8: but I think that it's not going to be this
- 8:10Speaker 8: guy should be starting by middle of the season kind of,
- 8:12Speaker 8: you know, I think that's probably where you're getting at
- 8:14Speaker 8: and you know, in the middle of the second round.
- 8:15Speaker 8: But even then it's it's it's hard, I mean, everything's
- 8:18Speaker 8: everything's kind of jockeying right now with you know who's
- 8:20Speaker 8: going where and mock drafts and all that.
- 8:22Speaker 6: It's hard to know what to believe.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Is because it certainly the wide receiver class is keep
- 8:26Speaker 2: enough in the second.
- 8:27Speaker 4: Round, right, you can steep enough through the entire top
- 8:29Speaker 4: one hundred. Yeah, Like I think that you know, if
- 8:32Speaker 4: you took a receiver and now they also have what
- 8:34Speaker 4: one oh four in the fourth rounds, that's kind of
- 8:36Speaker 4: a top one hundred pick two. If you took the
- 8:38Speaker 4: receivers in the third and fourth rounds, those two guys
- 8:42Speaker 4: are probably gonna be guys that would have been higher
- 8:44Speaker 4: picks in other years. So I think you can really
- 8:46Speaker 4: get at sixty eight, especially a guy that that could
- 8:49Speaker 4: come in and make an incident impact at that spot.
- 8:51Speaker 4: Whereas at tackle after the Patrick Paul Kingsley sue my tie,
- 8:56Speaker 4: that sort of.
- 8:58Speaker 6: Tier, Jordan Morgan.
- 9:00Speaker 4: It drops off pretty significantly to like the Blake Fishers
- 9:03Speaker 4: and the kid from Yale and you know those types
- 9:05Speaker 4: of players. I'm not going to try to pronounce the
- 9:07Speaker 4: Yale kids.
- 9:07Speaker 8: Yeah, Chris, Chris upstairs, Cassie was trying to pronounce it
- 9:10Speaker 8: earlier and got nothing for you, dude, kid from the
- 9:13Speaker 8: kid from Yale.
- 9:14Speaker 2: What do we think of the Kirk Cousins deal?
- 9:16Speaker 6: Kirk Cousins asked how much money has he made?
- 9:19Speaker 10: I mean close to he absolutely, it's in the NFL
- 9:25Speaker 10: like first ballot, Hall of Famer and contract negotiations. I
- 9:30Speaker 10: think it's an incredible move for Atlanta. I think it's
- 9:33Speaker 10: a great move, great signing.
- 9:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:35Speaker 8: I mean they've got some good young weapons, you know,
- 9:37Speaker 8: with with Drake London and you know, Kyle Pitts and
- 9:40Speaker 8: Jean Robinson and I mean there's some pieces in place there.
- 9:43Speaker 8: But I think the question with Kirk Cousins is we
- 9:46Speaker 8: you know, we've seen him with talented talent around him before.
- 9:49Speaker 8: It's you know, can he win the big games? Can
- 9:51Speaker 8: he get over the hump? And I mean I think
- 9:53Speaker 8: it's a favorable setting though down in the AFC South
- 9:55Speaker 8: with you know, Baker Mayfield and you know all those things.
- 9:57Speaker 8: I mean, certainly Houston looks like so the a SE,
- 10:01Speaker 8: but you know, in the NFC, I think that it's
- 10:03Speaker 8: it's it's wide open down there. So it's I mean,
- 10:05Speaker 8: I think what Paul said, they could run the show
- 10:07Speaker 8: down there if they if they're smart about it.
- 10:08Speaker 2: And you know, people are saying that they knew that
- 10:11Speaker 2: the Patriots were going to sign Jakobe Brissett. But was
- 10:13Speaker 2: there some interest in Baker Mayfield.
- 10:16Speaker 6: I don't think.
- 10:16Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 10:17Speaker 4: He never got to market, so it's tough to sign up. Yeah,
- 10:20Speaker 4: I think there would have been if he was at
- 10:23Speaker 4: Monday at noon he was a free agent, I think
- 10:25Speaker 4: that there would have been, but not at that number.
- 10:27Speaker 4: They're not paying them that kind of money.
- 10:28Speaker 6: But it isn't the deal kind of structured straight.
- 10:31Speaker 4: It's a two it's a two year deal. It's it
- 10:33Speaker 4: was announced as a three year deal. It's really like
- 10:35Speaker 4: a two year, sixty million dollar contract.
- 10:38Speaker 5: But also I feel like if you went after Baker
- 10:40Speaker 5: like he's gonna want to be the starter, he's not
- 10:42Speaker 5: going to be want to be a mentor leader, help
- 10:44Speaker 5: the rookie and then hand it over to him.
- 10:46Speaker 10: I think, oh no, he's your quarterback if you signed
- 10:48Speaker 10: and then you know, Fred back to your thing about Brissett.
- 10:52Speaker 10: If they did sign Baker Mayfield, then I'm not guaranteeing
- 10:57Speaker 10: to take a quarterback.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Right, I agree, Right, I agree.
- 11:00Speaker 3: Percent it's different, Yeah, I agree.
- 11:02Speaker 10: You know, I would never say one hundred percent because
- 11:04Speaker 10: I've been wrong too many times to do that.
- 11:06Speaker 3: But big the biggest thing.
- 11:09Speaker 8: And I don't know if normal is the right word,
- 11:11Speaker 8: but it just or maybe common sense is the word.
- 11:13Speaker 8: Like that's what yesterday felt to me, Like all right,
- 11:15Speaker 8: you have you know, and everybody's like, oh four and thirteen,
- 11:17Speaker 8: team just run it back. But the guys that they
- 11:19Speaker 8: re signed were guys that have performed well like Hunter Henry.
- 11:22Speaker 6: I mean, there were just no other options. Kendrick Bourne.
- 11:24Speaker 3: Is it's appreciated that asset Kendrick Bourne a lot more
- 11:27Speaker 3: than No. I just tell you that.
- 11:28Speaker 6: I just think I think it's a worthwhile deal.
- 11:30Speaker 8: You know, I think it's a worthwhile deal off a
- 11:31Speaker 8: guy who's got a good personality. You're not I mean,
- 11:34Speaker 8: what it's a four million guaranteed, it's not you know,
- 11:36Speaker 8: you're not burning money.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Getting your fourth receiver. I'm fine, And that's what the role.
- 11:40Speaker 2: And that's the role that's totally different.
- 11:43Speaker 6: Yeah, that's the role.
- 11:44Speaker 2: So you have to have a fourth receiver. They just
- 11:46Speaker 2: sign one. I think today it doesn't matter what he
- 11:50Speaker 2: is today because we're not playing a third receiver right now,
- 11:53Speaker 2: or really kind of the second.
- 11:54Speaker 6: I mean it's the other outside. No, I don't know.
- 11:56Speaker 10: That's gonna be whoever replaces theft, but I'm asking who's oh,
- 11:59Speaker 10: well today now it's it's probably Kendrick Bourne is one.
- 12:03Speaker 2: We're not playing.
- 12:04Speaker 3: So you need to add three receivers to get value
- 12:06Speaker 3: what you're saying.
- 12:07Speaker 6: Yeah, okay, two to at least one.
- 12:10Speaker 2: And then you get think Pop Pop Douglas is ahead
- 12:13Speaker 2: of them.
- 12:13Speaker 3: You think Pop Douglas is a better player than Kendrick Bourne.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Yes, now, and I think he has more upside And I.
- 12:18Speaker 3: Really don't like this signing.
- 12:20Speaker 6: No, I think they're different players. I think I think
- 12:22Speaker 6: they are.
- 12:22Speaker 3: Douglas Pop Douglas is just.
- 12:24Speaker 8: Is going to be a little slot who you know,
- 12:26Speaker 8: you bring on on third and long or whatever.
- 12:29Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 12:29Speaker 8: I I'm I think that they're gonna they're gonna hopefully
- 12:32Speaker 8: get a number one and then you know, they get
- 12:33Speaker 8: Calvin Ridley and we can debate about number one, but.
- 12:35Speaker 2: We're gonna have what what like six receivers on the roster, probably.
- 12:39Speaker 4: Five or six.
- 12:40Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, And then you got and and Kendrick Bourne
- 12:42Speaker 2: is one of them.
- 12:43Speaker 8: I mean, you got Kayshawn Booty with some kind of
- 12:44Speaker 8: legal matters hanging over his head with.
- 12:46Speaker 10: You don't see the difference there, No, if he's the
- 12:49Speaker 10: only If everyone if right and they get Calvin Ridley
- 12:52Speaker 10: and draft a guy in the second round, I'm all,
- 12:54Speaker 10: I'm in.
- 12:55Speaker 2: I agree. If if Kendrick Bourne is the best receiver
- 12:59Speaker 2: on your roster, we're in big trouble.
- 13:01Speaker 3: But that's what he is today.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Okay, but it's March. Yeah, okay.
- 13:06Speaker 3: So I don't need we can't, we can't draft.
- 13:11Speaker 10: I don't need to invest money into my fourth receiver.
- 13:13Speaker 10: Point I don't love you have to pay.
- 13:15Speaker 2: The fourth receiver.
- 13:17Speaker 4: Not that it's.
- 13:19Speaker 8: Not that much money, but I think this is a sud.
- 13:22Speaker 10: Worried about Well, I've always been worried about money, except
- 13:26Speaker 10: I've never been worried about the cap.
- 13:28Speaker 3: There's a difference.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Okay, it's not your money, so don't worry about it,
- 13:32Speaker 2: but it.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Is theirs, and they stopped spending it at some point.
- 13:35Speaker 7: Okay, if they, if they are really this is not
- 13:38Speaker 7: a very difficult I know. If they, if they are
- 13:41Speaker 7: happy or satisfied or content or willing to settle with
- 13:45Speaker 7: Born as their number one receiver, then let's start over.
- 13:49Speaker 2: But let's start over.
- 13:50Speaker 8: But again, this guy, you can't payte for eighty catches
- 13:53Speaker 8: and like eight touchdown.
- 13:54Speaker 6: I mean, he's coming out. He was on a pace
- 13:55Speaker 6: for a year.
- 13:57Speaker 2: I'm perfectly Paul was. That's it. We spent the money
- 14:02Speaker 2: on Born. We can't spend anymore.
- 14:03Speaker 4: And why you can't. You can't You never happened before.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Now you can't see that because we've never seen this,
- 14:09Speaker 2: regu It's not their money to spend, as you taught
- 14:12Speaker 2: me very well twenty years ago, it's not their decision
- 14:16Speaker 2: to make. I would be very surprised if we go
- 14:18Speaker 2: into the twenty twenty four season with Kendrick Bourne as
- 14:21Speaker 2: w R one.
- 14:22Speaker 10: I do not have a problem with the money they
- 14:25Speaker 10: gave Kendrick Bourne. That's not an exorbitant contract. What I'm
- 14:30Speaker 10: worried about is them not being able to get the
- 14:33Speaker 10: guys they want to slide him down the depth chart. Okay,
- 14:37Speaker 10: if he If they do, then I don't understand why
- 14:40Speaker 10: he's here. If they get a Ridley and Worthy, give
- 14:45Speaker 10: me a chuck, give me a late first second round
- 14:48Speaker 10: Xavier Worthy. Sure, okay, then I don't really need Kendrick
- 14:52Speaker 10: Bourne on my roster.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Yes you do.
- 14:53Speaker 3: I don't you you too, That's fine. I don't because
- 14:57Speaker 3: I'm fine going.
- 14:58Speaker 10: With a guy like Ridley or you know, let's get
- 15:02Speaker 10: Tamara's knock out of the park, t Higgins. I'm fine
- 15:06Speaker 10: with that with Douglas as the slot guy. You know,
- 15:10Speaker 10: three I don't need. I don't need like eight or
- 15:13Speaker 10: nine million guaranteed for Kendrick Bourne. Then that's all I'm
- 15:16Speaker 10: saying that that one was a little strange to me,
- 15:18Speaker 10: especially coming off of twenty a C.
- 15:20Speaker 3: Yeah, generally receivers don't get better coming.
- 15:22Speaker 4: Off I do agree that in terms of that room,
- 15:27Speaker 4: in particular on the offensive side of the ball, needs
- 15:30Speaker 4: a significant overhaul. And what you're doing is you're eating
- 15:34Speaker 4: up snaps more than anything. I don't care about the money,
- 15:37Speaker 4: but you don't want to get into a position where
- 15:40Speaker 4: you're you are. You know, if you're paying Kendrick Bourne
- 15:43Speaker 4: a veteran's salary, and now he's taking snaps from Xavier
- 15:46Speaker 4: Worthy because he you know, you paid him as a
- 15:48Speaker 4: guy that's going to be a top three receiver for you.
- 15:52Speaker 4: That is where I wonder where all these snaps are going,
- 15:55Speaker 4: because they're they're releasing Devonte Parker. According to reports tomorrow,
- 16:00Speaker 4: Juju Smith Schuster.
- 16:01Speaker 9: I don't know how to get rid of him.
- 16:03Speaker 4: It's not it's way easier said than done. I don't
- 16:05Speaker 4: know how They're just gonna jettison Juju Smith Schuster at
- 16:07Speaker 4: this point. And so at that point you have born
- 16:11Speaker 4: Yes Smith Schuster, Like you're starting to add up in
- 16:14Speaker 4: terms of like who's gonna play. You know, Pop Douglas
- 16:16Speaker 4: is already going to be on the team, and then
- 16:18Speaker 4: if you do sign a Calvin Ridley, you really only
- 16:20Speaker 4: have opportunity for one other guy. So yeah, that guy
- 16:24Speaker 4: could probably comes through the draft and that and that's
- 16:27Speaker 4: how you go forward. But I'm more worried about that
- 16:30Speaker 4: than necessarily the money or anything like that.
- 16:34Speaker 3: And I just wanted to defend myself really slightly.
- 16:37Speaker 10: I'm not up in arms about the Kenry Boyne deal,
- 16:39Speaker 10: Like don't, let's not this is not one of those
- 16:42Speaker 10: that I just don't understand. It's to me, it's kind
- 16:45Speaker 10: of a it was kind of unnecessary, but it's there's
- 16:50Speaker 10: no real money here. It's I think it's a three year,
- 16:53Speaker 10: twenty million dollar contract nineteen and only like half of
- 16:56Speaker 10: that is not.
- 16:57Speaker 3: Even half of it is guaranteed and a half so
- 16:59Speaker 3: I I saw eight someone wrote eight million was guaranteed.
- 17:03Speaker 3: But it's not a lot of money.
- 17:05Speaker 10: What I worry about is that he remains one of
- 17:08Speaker 10: your better receivers.
- 17:10Speaker 3: That concerns me. Now, if you can pull off what
- 17:13Speaker 3: we're talking about, it will.
- 17:14Speaker 10: Not be a concern to me. But then I would ask, well,
- 17:16Speaker 10: why do bother in the first place. To me, it
- 17:18Speaker 10: represents insurance, and I'm worried about that they're going to
- 17:20Speaker 10: need the insurance.
- 17:22Speaker 5: That's a fair point, Paul, especially because he's I am
- 17:25Speaker 5: going to bet that Kendrick's gonna be better than Juju, especially.
- 17:27Speaker 4: From what we say.
- 17:28Speaker 3: Oh yes, And so it's just like for.
- 17:30Speaker 5: Me, it's just like the Juju thing irritates me more
- 17:33Speaker 5: than anything else right now, because it's like he's getting
- 17:36Speaker 5: paid all this money, the most money, and he's taking
- 17:38Speaker 5: up snaps and not doing anything with it, Yeah, but
- 17:42Speaker 5: does the possibility he's gonna actually come out and be good.
- 17:44Speaker 4: Unfortunately that that ship is saled, like they gave Juju
- 17:47Speaker 4: the contract they gave him and they're stuck with him.
- 17:50Speaker 10: For that much more is the dead problem with him
- 17:52Speaker 10: than it was with Parker? Almost double Yeah, and I'm
- 17:56Speaker 10: talking about money, not necessarily cap.
- 17:59Speaker 3: But in that case it's both.
- 18:02Speaker 4: If they they they just cut him out right like
- 18:05Speaker 4: they are planning reportedly again on doing with DeVante Parker,
- 18:10Speaker 4: then it's gonna be north of eleven million to just
- 18:12Speaker 4: cut him out right now if they can trade him,
- 18:15Speaker 4: and that obviously lessens the blow to about half of that.
- 18:17Speaker 4: I think it's about five or six million and dead cap.
- 18:20Speaker 4: But I was surprised when somebody too Johnny Smith off
- 18:23Speaker 4: their hands last year, so maybe they can move them.
- 18:25Speaker 4: I'm not saying that it's homes but it because his
- 18:29Speaker 4: contract still has two more full years on it. It's
- 18:32Speaker 4: it's a lot more money than DeVante Parker. Plus like there's.
- 18:35Speaker 8: Other dead wood, like it's Kaishan Boudi, which I had
- 18:37Speaker 8: forgotten about his gamb.
- 18:39Speaker 4: But those guys, you can don't know what's gonna listen.
- 18:43Speaker 3: I don't think anything.
- 18:43Speaker 4: He can be cut for nothing.
- 18:44Speaker 10: I don't Yeah, I don't think any of these guys
- 18:46Speaker 10: is guaranteed a roster spot. You know, the booties in
- 18:48Speaker 10: the in the ragers, uh go and still here like again,
- 18:53Speaker 10: So to Fred's point, you're gonna have five or six
- 18:55Speaker 10: receivers on the roster and you're gonna have ten and
- 18:58Speaker 10: camp which ones of these guys, But you don't have
- 19:01Speaker 10: like receiver's coming in his camp.
- 19:04Speaker 2: But you know, like Booty's a camp body you've got.
- 19:07Speaker 4: I mean all right, So we got a little update
- 19:08Speaker 4: from Adam Schefter here on Calvin Ridley. Patriots and New
- 19:12Speaker 4: England is pushing to sign free agent wide receiver Calvin Ridley,
- 19:15Speaker 4: but sources believe that he currently prefers to return to
- 19:17Speaker 4: Jacksonville and has been discussing a deal with the Jaguars.
- 19:21Speaker 4: So it sounds like the Patriots are offering him the
- 19:23Speaker 4: most money.
- 19:24Speaker 6: But he wants to play with Mac.
- 19:26Speaker 4: He wants to play with Trevor Lawrence.
- 19:27Speaker 10: And he's probably that's good, Mike. He's probably saying, just
- 19:33Speaker 10: make it close. Yeah, Like I want to stay here,
- 19:36Speaker 10: Just make it close. I don't know, I would feel
- 19:38Speaker 10: a lot better about the depth truck if yeah, that happens.
- 19:42Speaker 10: But like, I don't think Kendrick Bourne is a camp body.
- 19:45Speaker 10: I don't think he's on the team.
- 19:47Speaker 3: I don't think that. I think there's more than that, and.
- 19:49Speaker 4: He's on the team.
- 19:51Speaker 2: I agree.
- 19:51Speaker 6: I mean not to mention TJ.
- 19:53Speaker 8: Luthor and Kawan Baker, two who are on the rosters
- 19:55Speaker 8: by receiving.
- 19:56Speaker 3: Matter of fact, I didn't mention.
- 19:58Speaker 4: I just it's time to put your money where your
- 20:00Speaker 4: mouth is. You said you were going to weaponize the offense.
- 20:03Speaker 4: So far I have a third down running back, So
- 20:05Speaker 4: go weaponize the offense, like that's what you told us
- 20:07Speaker 4: you were going to do. And to Paul's point.
- 20:10Speaker 2: Essentially, if you are going to draft that quarterback, let's go.
- 20:14Speaker 4: Yeah, kender Bourne is not weaponizing the offense.
- 20:17Speaker 10: And I do like, I no argument there, and I
- 20:19Speaker 10: do like the idea and it's probably an intangible we
- 20:23Speaker 10: have no idea how important it is, if at all,
- 20:26Speaker 10: But I do like the message of resigning a guy
- 20:29Speaker 10: like a when you so Christian Barmore says, yeah, I can,
- 20:34Speaker 10: They'll keep me yep. You know, you know when you
- 20:37Speaker 10: reportedly got about nineteen million a year, you know, it's
- 20:40Speaker 10: like thirty eight guaranteed or something like that.
- 20:42Speaker 3: So I like the idea of Christian Barmore.
- 20:45Speaker 10: Saying, yeah, if I have another good off season here,
- 20:48Speaker 10: I'm going to be in line to get an extension,
- 20:50Speaker 10: but maybe even before the season starts, because they're not
- 20:53Speaker 10: adverse to it.
- 20:53Speaker 1: Now.
- 20:54Speaker 10: The Patriots have re signed a lot of guys over
- 20:57Speaker 10: the years that people forget about. Yes, like, I know
- 20:59Speaker 10: this is like a new thing because Elliott Wolf is
- 21:01Speaker 10: here now and everything that the old regime did was wrong.
- 21:04Speaker 10: They haven't re signed top three round picks in a
- 21:07Speaker 10: long time and still haven't.
- 21:09Speaker 6: By the way, sixth round.
- 21:10Speaker 10: This is a sixth round pick, you know the you
- 21:14Speaker 10: know people pointed to the free agent class of twenty one. Well,
- 21:17Speaker 10: they re signed Henry and they re signed Bourne. You
- 21:20Speaker 10: know that's a sign that they're doing things well. They
- 21:22Speaker 10: resigned Godshaw last year, Like this is not new stuff.
- 21:27Speaker 10: You know, they actually re signed Mills believe it or not.
- 21:30Speaker 3: Yeah, he's still around. What's his stags.
- 21:33Speaker 2: He's a free agent. Let's see bretton Bologna Italy says
- 21:38Speaker 2: Paul needs a new stick cap vers real money. We
- 21:41Speaker 2: get it, we got it. Born is a good signing period.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Let's move on.
- 21:45Speaker 3: It could be.
- 21:46Speaker 6: Yeah, it's I mean, it's an interesting one. It's worth it.
- 21:48Speaker 6: It's worth the conversation.
- 21:49Speaker 10: I think if he if he's better than I think
- 21:51Speaker 10: he is, and he's like a like a number two receiver, yeah,
- 21:54Speaker 10: be a really good, really good sign And Fred said
- 21:56Speaker 10: the fourth receiver like that, I have no interest in them.
- 22:00Speaker 3: I don't know that money.
- 22:01Speaker 4: I think he'll be the third receiver. I just it
- 22:05Speaker 4: depends on what goes around him in terms of skill sets,
- 22:09Speaker 4: you know. I think that's the one thing about Calvin
- 22:10Speaker 4: Ridley is I want Calvin Ridley playing off the ball.
- 22:13Speaker 4: I don't want him playing at the X like he
- 22:15Speaker 4: did last year in Jacksonville because he's a smaller guy.
- 22:19Speaker 4: I want to use his best skill sets and that's
- 22:22Speaker 4: a little bit redundant with Kendrick Bourne. So at that point,
- 22:25Speaker 4: he probably is the fourth receiver on the.
- 22:26Speaker 3: Depth charge and if they think he's better, this is
- 22:29Speaker 3: a great contract.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Shoddy from Houston says, I don't understand the optimism and
- 22:33Speaker 2: people saying the Patriots are killing it all off season.
- 22:36Speaker 2: We heard how the mean old man they fired, drafted
- 22:39Speaker 2: poorly and neglected the offense. Suddenly resigning Henry Bourne on
- 22:43Speaker 2: when you and Brissett two players Bill drafted and two
- 22:45Speaker 2: we signed on offense is a great offseason. A twenty
- 22:48Speaker 2: nine year old wide receiver three coming off of torn
- 22:51Speaker 2: acl getting a three year deal is outrageous and Bill
- 22:54Speaker 2: would have been killed for Oh stop.
- 22:56Speaker 3: Well it's pretty cheap.
- 22:58Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean, and that's why if he's better than
- 23:00Speaker 10: I think he is, it's it's it's a really good contract.
- 23:03Speaker 8: And that's why I said at the top of this
- 23:04Speaker 8: whole thing, like, there's work to be done.
- 23:07Speaker 6: I just think when you need to rebuild a franchise.
- 23:09Speaker 8: You're not going to go out and do it day
- 23:10Speaker 8: one a free agency and get all these new guys,
- 23:13Speaker 8: Like would you rather oh we got rid of Hunter
- 23:14Speaker 8: Henry and now we got Gerald Everett?
- 23:16Speaker 6: Like is that gonna would that be better for everyone?
- 23:18Speaker 2: I want to read this next email and then talk
- 23:19Speaker 2: about how much you think.
- 23:20Speaker 3: Before you before you read that.
- 23:21Speaker 10: Can I just my one last thing with Bourne, Like,
- 23:24Speaker 10: so you're absolutely right, Micha what you just said about
- 23:27Speaker 10: the first day of free agency.
- 23:28Speaker 3: They're not going to go out and do it.
- 23:30Speaker 10: Do you think they could have signed Kendrick Bourne to
- 23:31Speaker 10: this deal, say in a week or a week and.
- 23:34Speaker 8: A half probably, but he might have been really in demand.
- 23:36Speaker 10: Because absolutely this deal, this deal would have been had
- 23:39Speaker 10: if you waited two weeks to see what you get
- 23:42Speaker 10: and sure, then then say.
- 23:44Speaker 3: Okay, you know, Kendrick, you know we're gonna have you
- 23:46Speaker 3: come back.
- 23:47Speaker 4: Yeah, I do of operations necessarily matters, though, well it
- 23:51Speaker 4: doesn't if you guys are right.
- 23:53Speaker 10: Yeah, if they do what you guys say they're going
- 23:55Speaker 10: to do, the order of operations is completely irrelevant. And
- 23:58Speaker 10: it's a typical Paul worrying about things that haven't happened yet.
- 24:01Speaker 3: I do that a lot, but I think.
- 24:03Speaker 5: It could have been more so like, hey, let's worry
- 24:05Speaker 5: about the things in house that we want to like prioritize,
- 24:08Speaker 5: and then we'll go outside.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Ye yeah.
- 24:10Speaker 4: I also just did the email. Were they supposed to
- 24:12Speaker 4: have a whole new fifty three man roster because every
- 24:15Speaker 4: single player that is here currently that was here last
- 24:17Speaker 4: year was picked by Bill Belichick. So in order to
- 24:21Speaker 4: do something differently, they would have literally had to have
- 24:24Speaker 4: cut everybody, and he started from scratch and then down.
- 24:28Speaker 8: I mean, they did get rid of Chris Board okay
- 24:30Speaker 8: that I think that's a.
- 24:32Speaker 2: That's a little it's a tough one.
- 24:33Speaker 4: You know, really you.
- 24:34Speaker 8: Got rid of the starting quarterback that we were supposed
- 24:37Speaker 8: to rebuild around. I mean, I think I think they
- 24:38Speaker 8: have made some changes, but I just I would say generally,
- 24:41Speaker 8: and Paul, you know, I think that's.
- 24:42Speaker 6: A great conversation.
- 24:43Speaker 8: I hear all your points you're making it, and I
- 24:45Speaker 8: hear you know, I think those are good. But I
- 24:47Speaker 8: would just say on the surface level that these guys
- 24:50Speaker 8: that these guys all performed pretty well. I like all
- 24:53Speaker 8: of them. I like them coming back. I don't know
- 24:55Speaker 8: how talented you know that, but.
- 24:57Speaker 2: So let me read this email. This is from Dana,
- 24:59Speaker 2: Virginian Chicken. Patriots seemed to be bringing back or keeping
- 25:02Speaker 2: guys that will be good for the locker room. If
- 25:04Speaker 2: that assessment is accurate. Is that because it's in keeping
- 25:07Speaker 2: with Mayo's vibe, or because of all the division and
- 25:10Speaker 2: disruption in recent years, or both? Or is it just
- 25:13Speaker 2: who was available. I think it's stuck. Don't dismiss that
- 25:17Speaker 2: because I think Jerard talked about mending fences, building bridges.
- 25:21Speaker 2: He's got work to do in the locker room. And
- 25:23Speaker 2: does he need those circle the wagon guys, Like every
- 25:26Speaker 2: coach talks hypocritical.
- 25:28Speaker 10: Why you're talking about how bad the locker room was
- 25:31Speaker 10: last year, So what are we gonna do to fix it?
- 25:33Speaker 10: We're gonna keep the guys that were in the locker
- 25:34Speaker 10: last year. But there's certain but puscher Henry was considered
- 25:37Speaker 10: one of the gang of five with mac Jones, right,
- 25:39Speaker 10: and now we're retaining and guess who's gone not Hunter
- 25:42Speaker 10: Henry mac Jones.
- 25:44Speaker 2: So I will do you get it?
- 25:45Speaker 5: No, okay, I will say to Adam what you said, Fred,
- 25:49Speaker 5: I think that there was a notable difference in that
- 25:51Speaker 5: locker room when Kendrick Bourne got hurt and he wasn't
- 25:53Speaker 5: in there anymore, and Judi, when both of them left
- 25:57Speaker 5: to go get their surgeries and start rehab, there was
- 25:58Speaker 5: a noticeable difference in that lie. So having him back
- 26:01Speaker 5: is going to be a bright spot.
- 26:02Speaker 3: I just I but he was considered the opposite.
- 26:06Speaker 2: But I but but maybe he was right. I think
- 26:10Speaker 2: Hunter Henry, you know, maybe they weren't treating mac correctly.
- 26:14Speaker 2: You know, maybe Big Mike is part of this equation
- 26:18Speaker 2: that like he's a better locker room guy than we
- 26:20Speaker 2: know about. You know, I don't know, But I'm just saying,
- 26:22Speaker 2: don't dismiss who he's signing in terms of I need
- 26:26Speaker 2: that foundational locker room culture just like I need, you know,
- 26:30Speaker 2: the pieces on the ross.
- 26:31Speaker 4: Especially if you're gonna have a Rickie quarterback, you can't
- 26:34Speaker 4: expect to be the captain and the leader day one.
- 26:37Speaker 6: Yeah, there was just no.
- 26:38Speaker 2: Like if I if I signed all these new guys,
- 26:41Speaker 2: I don't know what I'm gonna get in the locker room.
- 26:43Speaker 2: At least I know what these guys.
- 26:44Speaker 10: I'll go back and say I don't have any problem
- 26:46Speaker 10: with the resigning of Henry Born, you and all three
- 26:50Speaker 10: of those guys.
- 26:51Speaker 3: I'll throw Dugger into that too, even though he didn't
- 26:53Speaker 3: really resign.
- 26:54Speaker 4: Yeah, he's gonna be here.
- 26:55Speaker 10: Like, I don't think that there's anything wrong with that.
- 26:58Speaker 10: I think it sends a good message and all of
- 27:00Speaker 10: that stuff.
- 27:01Speaker 3: I'm not arguing that.
- 27:02Speaker 10: I'm just saying, don't give me they had a bad
- 27:04Speaker 10: locker room last year, and that's why they resigned all
- 27:07Speaker 10: these guys that were in the bad locker room. Yeah,
- 27:09Speaker 10: Like that doesn't make sense to me. I think I
- 27:11Speaker 10: have no problem with resigning these guys. I think some
- 27:14Speaker 10: of the guys that were part of the bad locker
- 27:15Speaker 10: room are not here.
- 27:17Speaker 8: But I also just think this team had no core.
- 27:18Speaker 8: This team had no identity. You didn't really know who
- 27:21Speaker 8: they're building around. There was nobody. There was no tight
- 27:23Speaker 8: ends on the roster. You know, Matthew Slater retired, you
- 27:26Speaker 8: have Juwan Bentley, you have Dietrich Wise. They're fine, but you,
- 27:30Speaker 8: like you said, Fred, they're not perfect. But these are
- 27:33Speaker 8: the guys that you feel like, I'm okay to build
- 27:35Speaker 8: around these guys. And I know they were part of
- 27:37Speaker 8: a team that wasn't great, but those guys were productive.
- 27:39Speaker 8: Hunter Henry was the only red zone threat they've had
- 27:41Speaker 8: the last time.
- 27:41Speaker 2: And let's go back. You know. So now these guys
- 27:44Speaker 2: are signed, you know, and the signal that it sends
- 27:47Speaker 2: to the other players. Oh, they resigned Big Mike, they
- 27:50Speaker 2: resigned Hunter Henry. You know, so these guys are gonna
- 27:52Speaker 2: come in, I hope with a good attitude. And now
- 27:56Speaker 2: they're the veterans. And I hope, and I'm sure Mao agrees.
- 28:00Speaker 2: He hopes that good attitude, that positive, you know, mindset
- 28:04Speaker 2: will permeate to the other.
- 28:07Speaker 10: That guy when us that guy, I mean, that's the
- 28:10Speaker 10: only guy that signed for any significant money.
- 28:12Speaker 3: Henry resigned for one reason and one reason. No, they
- 28:14Speaker 3: have no options.
- 28:14Speaker 10: They have no tight ends, right, I mean like if
- 28:17Speaker 10: they if they had like a young tight end on
- 28:19Speaker 10: the roster in year three, Henry wouldn't have resusched.
- 28:23Speaker 4: Dugger bar more Christian Gonzales, Like those are guys. Are
- 28:27Speaker 4: are your core guys right now and you're hoping that
- 28:30Speaker 4: the quarterback is going to be one also in a year.
- 28:32Speaker 4: But these Henry is exactly what Paul said. They had
- 28:35Speaker 4: no other options, Like you have to have a tight end.
- 28:37Speaker 10: But they made sure that they made sure that he didn't.
- 28:42Speaker 10: That's why he signed so early. He signed before even
- 28:45Speaker 10: the tampering periods.
- 28:47Speaker 2: Like if you're Henry, it's like, oh, okay, they want
- 28:49Speaker 2: me like they're human beings. So I think that means
- 28:53Speaker 2: something like wow, they you know, it made me an
- 28:57Speaker 2: offer really fast. They want man And like I'm telling you,
- 29:02Speaker 2: don't dismiss that whole locker room culture thing and and
- 29:06Speaker 2: Mayo's need to have guys that are going to buy
- 29:08Speaker 2: into his you know system, it's important.
- 29:12Speaker 10: I mean Derek, I just don't know if he's one
- 29:14Speaker 10: of those guys based on reports, not me, not anything, Henry.
- 29:20Speaker 10: I don't know what side of that fence he's on
- 29:22Speaker 10: based on a lot of reports.
- 29:24Speaker 2: A nice kid, competitive guy. Dan also says, following.
- 29:29Speaker 3: Upstart from me, I'm just telling you stuff that.
- 29:31Speaker 2: I've read, following up from last week's shows. If the
- 29:34Speaker 2: Patriots draft JJ McCarthy, I will go full Eric and
- 29:37Speaker 2: unleash harump of atomic proportions. Just say nay to JJ.
- 29:42Speaker 6: I'm with them, Nay.
- 29:44Speaker 8: Derek Henry to the Ravens was what we were kind
- 29:46Speaker 8: of weird into me.
- 29:47Speaker 4: That's a weird one to me. That's uh that that has.
- 29:49Speaker 8: Michael and I was laughing thinking about though the jokes
- 29:53Speaker 8: they would have been had if he came.
- 29:55Speaker 2: Here and what you know, Oh I, I would have
- 29:56Speaker 2: loved that.
- 29:57Speaker 4: Here's a different here's a different story Baltimore. It's a
- 30:01Speaker 4: weird fit.
- 30:03Speaker 3: Why because of the style of runner.
- 30:06Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, because they they play out of the gun
- 30:08Speaker 4: and out of the pistol and like he's a downhill
- 30:11Speaker 4: lineup eight yards behind the line of scrimma.
- 30:13Speaker 2: But he can also catch the ball.
- 30:14Speaker 4: No, no, no, I mean like he's not going to
- 30:16Speaker 4: start from a running start. Now, he's going to start
- 30:18Speaker 4: next to Lamar Jackson and he's I give.
- 30:22Speaker 2: Jim Harbaugh or John Harbaugh, I should say all the
- 30:25Speaker 2: credit in the world for being flexible on offense. We
- 30:28Speaker 2: know what he did when he dank. Like how hard
- 30:31Speaker 2: would it be to install something for Derek Henry.
- 30:34Speaker 4: I mean, I just when you have a quarterback like
- 30:36Speaker 4: Lamar and like we'll talk about this with Jayden Daniels
- 30:38Speaker 4: if they draft him, if you put him under center,
- 30:40Speaker 4: you're taking his superpower away because now his ability to
- 30:44Speaker 4: run is not a threat on that particular play. Yeah,
- 30:47Speaker 4: but you're not going to do that. You don't want
- 30:49Speaker 4: to do that twenty five times a game.
- 30:50Speaker 2: But you're down by the goal line, you're in the
- 30:52Speaker 2: red zone.
- 30:53Speaker 4: Well that's a lot of money for that.
- 30:55Speaker 6: Okay, do you know Ballpark how much?
- 30:59Speaker 4: So they've done it more recently because they don't want
- 31:02Speaker 4: him taking the body blows of running all the time.
- 31:04Speaker 4: But when you got to have it, I mean, they're
- 31:06Speaker 4: they're talking Super Bowl.
- 31:08Speaker 2: Didn't the Ravens have trouble in the red zone last year?
- 31:11Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 31:12Speaker 2: I don't have to look up, not that I'm aware of,
- 31:14Speaker 2: but maybe I thought that was one of the things.
- 31:16Speaker 2: But anyway.
- 31:17Speaker 10: But I would just say that the bigger issue to
- 31:22Speaker 10: me with the stuff that Evan's talking about is how
- 31:24Speaker 10: predictable it makes you.
- 31:25Speaker 3: Like if if you're going to do what.
- 31:27Speaker 10: You said Fred and change it and have have him on,
- 31:30Speaker 10: So now you're telling everybody Lamar is not running, it's
- 31:32Speaker 10: going to be Derek Henry running.
- 31:34Speaker 3: That's what you're looking to avoid. Even if he gives
- 31:36Speaker 3: the talk to Josh about that all the time, even if.
- 31:38Speaker 4: He gives the ball every single time, just Lamar's gravity
- 31:42Speaker 4: of I could keep it, he keeps.
- 31:44Speaker 3: The edge, she does what happened to play action.
- 31:47Speaker 2: So you put him back there, you're fake and he
- 31:49Speaker 2: boots or he throws. I mean there's still options under
- 31:53Speaker 2: center to keep the ball with Lamar.
- 31:59Speaker 4: Transferred.
- 32:00Speaker 10: Really, Fred, when when a guy's under center and they
- 32:03Speaker 10: run X amount of time, Yeah, you're gonna get beat
- 32:05Speaker 10: on it every once in a while, but more often
- 32:07Speaker 10: than not, you're gonna know what's coming. Just like the
- 32:10Speaker 10: whole thing with Yakub Johnson had to go because they
- 32:13Speaker 10: were so predictable when he was on the field.
- 32:15Speaker 4: Mar brought back the pistol.
- 32:17Speaker 2: I give credit. I give more credit to offensive coordinators
- 32:20Speaker 2: to know what you're saying.
- 32:22Speaker 10: And my bigger concern with Derrick Henry is is that
- 32:24Speaker 10: you have anything left now. He finished the last season
- 32:27Speaker 10: pretty strong with Tennessee, Like one of the best games
- 32:29Speaker 10: he had all year was the last game. Uh, he
- 32:32Speaker 10: basically knocked Jacksonville out of the playoffs. So I don't
- 32:35Speaker 10: know if he still has enough in him to do it.
- 32:38Speaker 10: But that's the way Baltimore wants to play. They're gonna
- 32:41Speaker 10: they're gonna run the ball and be physical.
- 32:44Speaker 3: Uh.
- 32:44Speaker 10: He's certainly, like Fred said, he certainly should help in
- 32:46Speaker 10: the in the red zone and and do those kinds
- 32:49Speaker 10: of things.
- 32:50Speaker 2: Uh. Calvin and Connecticut rights And does Marcus Mariota to
- 32:53Speaker 2: Washington tip their hand at all to who they are
- 32:56Speaker 2: drafting its second with number two playing style related more
- 32:59Speaker 2: to either quarterback Daniel.
- 33:01Speaker 4: O'niels, I don't think that much. I think both of
- 33:04Speaker 4: those guys run, and like Marcus, Mary odin his prime
- 33:09Speaker 4: was obviously a great runner. But I would say that
- 33:12Speaker 4: I wouldn't look too much into it.
- 33:14Speaker 2: He also wants to know would you give up the
- 33:16Speaker 2: second round pick and pay T Higgins? So would you
- 33:19Speaker 2: give up a second for T? Higgins?
- 33:21Speaker 3: I would, but I don't think they would.
- 33:24Speaker 10: Like I would rather do that than give Kendrick Bourn
- 33:26Speaker 10: three years a nineteen and a half million.
- 33:29Speaker 4: Why can't you do both?
- 33:31Speaker 3: You could, I just don't think they would.
- 33:33Speaker 4: Oh well, that's a problem, right.
- 33:35Speaker 3: And that we're back to my concern.
- 33:37Speaker 4: I would like to think that this regime does not
- 33:40Speaker 4: think that way. I would agree with you that Bill
- 33:42Speaker 4: would think that.
- 33:42Speaker 3: I would like to think the regime had to say.
- 33:44Speaker 3: I'm not sure it does.
- 33:48Speaker 10: But that kind of stuff I'm talking I'm talking about
- 33:51Speaker 10: like one hundred million dollar contracts every that's all thirty
- 33:55Speaker 10: two teams. That's not just a coaches to say, you
- 33:58Speaker 10: know what, we got to do this because I said so,
- 34:00Speaker 10: no team does that all thirty two teams. You can't
- 34:03Speaker 10: make that kind of a signing without, you know, getting
- 34:05Speaker 10: it signed off on.
- 34:07Speaker 2: Tim writes in Okay, he says, okay, I'm now reading
- 34:10Speaker 2: that Calvin Ridley prefers Jacksonville over New England. Is it
- 34:14Speaker 2: panic time yet? Sure? Seems like Elliott Wolf or should
- 34:17Speaker 2: I say, Robert Craft excuse me, doesn't want to spend money.
- 34:21Speaker 2: Hopefully I'm wrong, and we're about to trade for t
- 34:23Speaker 2: Higgins but I'm starting to get concerned.
- 34:25Speaker 5: Well, I wouldn't say that, Yeah, I wouldn't say it
- 34:27Speaker 5: has to do with money. I would say I would
- 34:29Speaker 5: want to stay with you know, Trevor Lawrence. I mean,
- 34:32Speaker 5: you know what, You've gotten a quarterback. And also I'm
- 34:34Speaker 5: sure the weather is a lot better than here and here.
- 34:36Speaker 5: You don't know what this quarterback situation is going to be.
- 34:38Speaker 5: I mean, maybe it's not all about money for him.
- 34:40Speaker 5: Maybe he wants to make sure he has a good career,
- 34:42Speaker 5: great location and money.
- 34:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 34:44Speaker 8: I mean they have given out about eighty million guaranteed
- 34:46Speaker 8: so far, so take it fourth.
- 34:48Speaker 2: It's worth No.
- 34:49Speaker 4: I think Tamren nailed it. I think it's a better
- 34:52Speaker 4: situation than Jacksonville. They have a quarterback, they have a
- 34:54Speaker 4: team that was in the playoffs two years ago. It's
- 34:57Speaker 4: just a better team than what the Patriots currently.
- 34:59Speaker 2: Have Alex and Mount Holly. I'm in the same boat
- 35:02Speaker 2: with Paul where I would have not signed Borne, even
- 35:05Speaker 2: if he's the best skilled player outside of Stevenson in
- 35:07Speaker 2: the last few seasons. I just would have liked to
- 35:09Speaker 2: have been more aggressive in trying to sign Ridley, even
- 35:12Speaker 2: though it sounds like he wants to stay in Jazz
- 35:14Speaker 2: about if we didn't resign born in Reger while also
- 35:17Speaker 2: letting Parker go. I just feel like it would have
- 35:19Speaker 2: put the team in a different position to give Ridley
- 35:22Speaker 2: a contract he couldn't refuse. Still would like to see
- 35:25Speaker 2: some weapons added through free agency in trade, so I'm
- 35:28Speaker 2: not losing hope, but I feel like now the best
- 35:31Speaker 2: route is turning to a young wide receiver like Polk
- 35:33Speaker 2: and Burton in the draft to fill out the wide
- 35:36Speaker 2: receiver room.
- 35:37Speaker 8: I mean, ultimately that's the answer, and I mean I
- 35:39Speaker 8: think that's where we're headed. And when I know I
- 35:41Speaker 8: was writing about the guys, it's, you know, it is it's.
- 35:44Speaker 6: A little flavor of draft developer tain.
- 35:46Speaker 8: That's, you know, kind of what they're starting to get
- 35:48Speaker 8: that cycle going again they fell off of it. And
- 35:52Speaker 8: again even though there's some guys with some warts like
- 35:54Speaker 8: you know, they're they're trying to make an effort to.
- 35:56Speaker 10: Come before that, I was a draft in develop these
- 35:59Speaker 10: like the Henry's Born drafting fair and when you get
- 36:02Speaker 10: in a three year deal, you know, it's like when
- 36:04Speaker 10: you when you and do you know a drafting development.
- 36:06Speaker 8: We'll see with Douggary, but you know that's it's a fab.
- 36:09Speaker 3: I think, but I think far more down the down the.
- 36:12Speaker 6: Road, and that's and I do I do it tomorrow.
- 36:14Speaker 8: But you know it's not franchise tag Joe Toney and
- 36:17Speaker 8: let them walk, you know the franchise.
- 36:18Speaker 6: I mean people talked about franchising.
- 36:19Speaker 8: And when you do making those same kind of mistakes, it's,
- 36:21Speaker 8: you know, everything that you guys said about you know
- 36:23Speaker 8: the message, and it's it's baby steps because let's face it,
- 36:26Speaker 8: they don't have a lot of those players that are
- 36:27Speaker 8: still around that they drafted that are worth it.
- 36:30Speaker 2: Okay, Uh should we try a phone call?
- 36:35Speaker 8: Everything seems to be working fine. I don't know how
- 36:36Speaker 8: I can hear you guys. Yeah, it feels like normal show.
- 36:39Speaker 2: Now now we're back new board, new board, uh thing,
- 36:44Speaker 2: new phone? Who is Todd's in North Carolina? What's up Todd?
- 36:47Speaker 3: I know that, but people are doing a great job.
- 36:53Speaker 2: That doesn't sound good. It's a little okay.
- 36:58Speaker 11: My question for you guys, get Quick still on the roster?
- 37:01Speaker 3: Yes? Yes?
- 37:03Speaker 12: And do you think he's still on the roster to
- 37:06Speaker 12: start the new year?
- 37:07Speaker 2: Yes? No?
- 37:09Speaker 8: What can you bring?
- 37:10Speaker 3: Do you think he's going to be gone tomorrow?
- 37:12Speaker 10: I thought he's the start of the season. I thought
- 37:15Speaker 10: he said the new year, the new year, that's not
- 37:17Speaker 10: the Oh you mean tomorrow. I think, yes, he'll be
- 37:19Speaker 10: on the roster tomorrow. I would say by the time.
- 37:21Speaker 2: Remember where it was around season?
- 37:23Speaker 3: I thought he said for the season, for the seas,
- 37:27Speaker 3: So you were right, Thanks Todd. I'm going to say yes, I'm.
- 37:31Speaker 4: Going to say what what who Who's going to take
- 37:34Speaker 4: him off your hands? Like I I just I think
- 37:36Speaker 4: you just might have to eat it. You can't do that.
- 37:40Speaker 4: It's too much money.
- 37:40Speaker 9: It's going to be equivalent to him being out there anyways.
- 37:43Speaker 4: You're paying, but you don't even have to play him
- 37:45Speaker 4: like I would. It's just I just feel like, if
- 37:49Speaker 4: you're you have this this amount of cap space, that's
- 37:52Speaker 4: the only advantage that you have right now is that
- 37:53Speaker 4: you have cap space. And if you start eating up
- 37:56Speaker 4: too much of the cap space and dead money then
- 37:58Speaker 4: you don't then you've lost your one advantage. Who you know,
- 38:00Speaker 4: if you want to sign Calvin Ridley in a tackle
- 38:04Speaker 4: and you have a twelve million dollar dead capet on
- 38:06Speaker 4: Juju and a six million dollars dollar dead capet and
- 38:09Speaker 4: Devonte Parker like these are the things that Paul talks
- 38:11Speaker 4: about in terms of real cash spending, like you don't
- 38:14Speaker 4: have any more real cash to spend at that point
- 38:17Speaker 4: on other players, and that that's they they trapped themselves
- 38:21Speaker 4: into these two contracts. It's their own doing.
- 38:23Speaker 8: It just sucks, though you're just saying you're just gonna
- 38:25Speaker 8: sit a guy on the bench because you don't.
- 38:27Speaker 3: I don't think on a bench he.
- 38:28Speaker 6: Would just play him unless you can't.
- 38:30Speaker 3: Unless you guys are right and we got the fireworks coming.
- 38:33Speaker 8: I just think you have a chance though, And I mean, look,
- 38:36Speaker 8: I'm not gonna get in the math, but like you're
- 38:37Speaker 8: a new regime, this is a terrible contract on a
- 38:40Speaker 8: player who I have never seen it for a single
- 38:42Speaker 8: second out there, make a play like what are you
- 38:46Speaker 8: supposed to do? Like if it was your guy and
- 38:48Speaker 8: you're the one who resigned him, and maybe there is
- 38:50Speaker 8: somebody's still here that it was his guy, so maybe that's.
- 38:53Speaker 3: A factor too, but no, no, no, no, it's just hard
- 38:55Speaker 3: to say. Nobody's still here responsible. He was a bad
- 38:58Speaker 3: player last maybe he can work for this, but he's
- 39:00Speaker 3: still here. Was responsible.
- 39:01Speaker 6: Hilarious if it's funny, like I saw somebody.
- 39:05Speaker 9: He seems to have given up TikTok since he got here.
- 39:07Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah, if you can Johnny Smith, Juju Smith,
- 39:12Speaker 4: Uster and somebody will take him off your hands. I
- 39:15Speaker 4: am all for it.
- 39:17Speaker 3: What's the dead cap for that?
- 39:18Speaker 4: If they trade him, it's like half half?
- 39:20Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, I'm with Fred. I would I would bite
- 39:23Speaker 10: the bullet and do it. But I understand Evans points.
- 39:27Speaker 2: Uh Co writes in he's in Denver, Mac is gone.
- 39:30Speaker 2: Jacoby is the veteran mentor and game manager the team
- 39:33Speaker 2: needs for a rookie quarterback. I now implore you to
- 39:37Speaker 2: stop pretending we don't know what the Patriots are doing
- 39:39Speaker 2: at number three. Patriots will do what Mayo said on
- 39:43Speaker 2: the first day he was hired. They will draft whichever
- 39:45Speaker 2: quarterback is there, mayor Daniels. How long will the media
- 39:49Speaker 2: pretend the number three pick is a mystery to get
- 39:51Speaker 2: more clicks. It's irresponsible. It creates a false expectation for fans.
- 39:56Speaker 2: It sets people up for disappointment.
- 39:57Speaker 8: This is I don't know, somebody from alternate reality.
- 40:00Speaker 2: I don't know. It sets people up for disappointment When
- 40:03Speaker 2: the Patriots don't draft Marvin Harrison Junior or don't trade
- 40:06Speaker 2: back Mayo told you in January exactly what the Patriots
- 40:09Speaker 2: would do. Don't forget it. If you want to speculate,
- 40:12Speaker 2: speculate about the second round.
- 40:14Speaker 10: Who is speculating about them not taking a quarterback the charade?
- 40:18Speaker 4: To be fair. To be fair, Fred did say that
- 40:20Speaker 4: it wasn't a guarantee that they're going to take a quarter.
- 40:22Speaker 10: And he he asked that. He started the show by
- 40:26Speaker 10: asking that, and what did we all say? I know,
- 40:29Speaker 10: I think you asked the question, do you think it's right?
- 40:31Speaker 2: Is it a guarantee?
- 40:33Speaker 10: And Evan went yes, Mike went yes, Paul went yes,
- 40:37Speaker 10: Like who's right?
- 40:39Speaker 3: I'm just saying who you are doing again?
- 40:41Speaker 6: Go to last week's.
- 40:42Speaker 8: Show, what Mayor Daniels. I'm fine with either one, make
- 40:45Speaker 8: that pick. Either one is worth missing on. So I
- 40:47Speaker 8: think you're right now.
- 40:47Speaker 3: The uncertainty is which quarterback they're going to have? Which one?
- 40:52Speaker 10: I don't think there are a lot of people who
- 40:53Speaker 10: do not think they're taking a quarterback at three.
- 40:55Speaker 4: No, I'm not telling you nobody. There's a lot of
- 41:00Speaker 4: Marvin Harrison Junior people. I wouldn't say among the media necessarily,
- 41:03Speaker 4: but on Paul show, as I hear them calling all
- 41:05Speaker 4: the time about Marvin Harrison Junior.
- 41:07Speaker 10: Yeah, but he's made front of the media for being clickbait. Yeah,
- 41:11Speaker 10: and I don't think there's a lot of that going
- 41:12Speaker 10: on now. I'm not telling you that Joe and Walpole
- 41:15Speaker 10: doesn't think that they should take Marvin Harrison, but like
- 41:18Speaker 10: he's not trying to get people to click on his
- 41:20Speaker 10: story by saying that.
- 41:23Speaker 2: Rick and Dallas wants to know should the Patriots have
- 41:25Speaker 2: tried to trade for Jerry Judy.
- 41:29Speaker 3: I'm not a huge Jerry Judy guy.
- 41:31Speaker 8: What was Mark Schleros thing? Did anybody see that? I
- 41:33Speaker 8: kind of clicked by it, But he seemed happy that
- 41:35Speaker 8: they got rid of him, and I didn't.
- 41:37Speaker 4: Know he's had some attitude issues in Denver.
- 41:40Speaker 10: I mean, I would have taken a shot based on
- 41:41Speaker 10: it cost them nothing, But I'm not a huge Jerry
- 41:45Speaker 10: j I think the production has been there since he's
- 41:48Speaker 10: been in the league.
- 41:48Speaker 4: Yeah, I am, but last year and like it just
- 41:52Speaker 4: it's a precipitous drop off. He just he keeps on
- 41:54Speaker 4: not producing year in and year out, struggling to stay
- 41:57Speaker 4: on the field. At some point the first round talent
- 42:00Speaker 4: that I'm in love with. You have to look at
- 42:02Speaker 4: it and be like it's he's just not that player.
- 42:04Speaker 4: He just didn't live up to it.
- 42:05Speaker 3: You mean, wide receivers don't always work out in the
- 42:07Speaker 3: first round.
- 42:08Speaker 4: That one, and that one might be one of the
- 42:09Speaker 4: only misses in the first round. In the last like
- 42:15Speaker 4: M seven, Kevin White was a long time ago.
- 42:17Speaker 2: Now rust and rusty and Arlen has some questions about
- 42:20Speaker 2: the Prissette signing. He's a little bit confused. He says,
- 42:23Speaker 2: I just wanted to give a little stat comparison on
- 42:25Speaker 2: perset because I genuinely don't understand it, probably never will
- 42:29Speaker 2: understand the value. He's talking in comparison to Zappi. Bill
- 42:33Speaker 2: got rid of him after year one for Dorset. I
- 42:36Speaker 2: have to say that one catch against the Jags is
- 42:38Speaker 2: more than anything Prissette has ever done. Zappi the Chiefs.
- 42:42Speaker 2: Zappi this season was good for two hundred and twelve
- 42:44Speaker 2: passing yards per game and had six touchdowns, six starts,
- 42:48Speaker 2: nine interceptions, six yards UH per average throw. Veteran QB Brissett,
- 42:54Speaker 2: who definitely is adding something in his last sixteen starts
- 42:57Speaker 2: between the Dolphins and Browns about two hundred and forty
- 43:00Speaker 2: yards a game. Blah blah, blah blah. Please tell me
- 43:02Speaker 2: what he does here without relying on phrases like veteran presence.
- 43:06Speaker 4: That's what he does here, that's why he's here.
- 43:08Speaker 2: I remember hearing that with Hoyer and it didn't seem
- 43:11Speaker 2: to do much for mac. Congrats. He might be marginally
- 43:14Speaker 2: better than Zabi. Is there a better gig in football
- 43:16Speaker 2: than being the veteran backup?
- 43:20Speaker 3: There's a lot of truth to that, but he's here.
- 43:22Speaker 3: You're dismissing the reason.
- 43:23Speaker 4: He's literally here for the reason why you don't want
- 43:26Speaker 4: us to talk about why he's here.
- 43:27Speaker 3: So he's not that much better than Zabi. He's not.
- 43:32Speaker 3: He doesn't.
- 43:32Speaker 4: He's he is, you know, more of an NFL body
- 43:36Speaker 4: type and like he's got a bigger arm and he's
- 43:39Speaker 4: a bigger guy, and you know those types of things.
- 43:41Speaker 4: But he's he's here because he's a veteran presence that
- 43:44Speaker 4: has been lauded by it and.
- 43:46Speaker 10: He's in the emailer is dismissing, and he's not telling
- 43:49Speaker 10: you wrong for dismissing that. But I think that's why
- 43:52Speaker 10: he's here. Yeah, And I think that's why they chose
- 43:54Speaker 10: him individually.
- 43:55Speaker 2: And to everyone's point that that tips the Patriot's hands
- 43:58Speaker 2: about what they're doing. Now, yeah, it does because they
- 44:01Speaker 2: need that veteran guy in the locker room if you're
- 44:03Speaker 2: gonna bring in, you know, a quarterback at number three.
- 44:08Speaker 10: And it's not because they want Brissett to play if
- 44:13Speaker 10: Drake May isn't ready in week one, per se. They
- 44:18Speaker 10: want Brissett to be there for Drake May. Whereas Bailey Zappi, Yeah,
- 44:24Speaker 10: you could, you could say, like, well, he could just
- 44:26Speaker 10: play for wee. But Bailey's appy wants to play. And
- 44:29Speaker 10: this is no slight on Bailey's appy. I can't believe
- 44:31Speaker 10: he should want he should want to play. He's entering
- 44:35Speaker 10: his third year. He's trying to find like he's looking
- 44:39Speaker 10: for the opportunity that Brissett has already had. Brissett has
- 44:42Speaker 10: started fifty or sixty games in the league whatever, forget
- 44:45Speaker 10: about whatever it is. He's been poor in those starts.
- 44:48Speaker 10: But Zappi's looking for that opportunity that he's never really
- 44:51Speaker 10: gotten and and and.
- 44:53Speaker 2: Presets the perfect veteran because forget about the money. If
- 44:55Speaker 2: you're bring in Baker from Mayfield, the same thing, he's
- 44:57Speaker 2: gonna want to play.
- 44:58Speaker 3: Oh well, that's a different that's a whole diff or not.
- 45:00Speaker 2: I'm not here to help Drake May. I'm here to
- 45:02Speaker 2: just play.
- 45:02Speaker 3: But he's the starter. If you bring him in, he's
- 45:04Speaker 3: the starter.
- 45:05Speaker 2: I'm not saying that in terms of a veteran. Brisett's
- 45:08Speaker 2: kind of perfect, you know.
- 45:10Speaker 4: For it's non threatening, right, I mean Wilson wouldn't have
- 45:14Speaker 4: been that, you know, justin Fields is not that those
- 45:17Speaker 4: guys want to play, right, all right.
- 45:19Speaker 2: We're gonna take a break, a real break, and we'll
- 45:22Speaker 2: be right back. You know what. I haven't been doing

- 46:42Speaker 2: losing whatever Harry has left back there, Scotton Virginia writes
- 46:47Speaker 2: in I thought this was interesting. I read that if
- 46:49Speaker 2: the Jaguar signed Ridley before the new league year tomorrow,
- 46:54Speaker 2: that they would then owe the Falcons's second round pick.
- 46:57Speaker 4: Correct.
- 46:57Speaker 2: I feel like the longer we don't hear anything about, really,
- 47:00Speaker 2: the more likely he is to re signing with the Jacks,
- 47:03Speaker 2: since they have to wait till tomorrow. Anyway, do you
- 47:06Speaker 2: guys have the same sentiment they.
- 47:07Speaker 4: Don't have to wait till tomorrow, but that that package
- 47:11Speaker 4: is correct that because of the agreement in the trade,
- 47:14Speaker 4: if he signs a contract extension essentially with the Jaguars,
- 47:18Speaker 4: then they would owe Atlanta. It becomes a second round
- 47:22Speaker 4: pick instead of I think whatever the conveidation.
- 47:24Speaker 3: So no matter what correct.
- 47:26Speaker 10: Oh so that's a non factor then because Jacksonville's clearly.
- 47:29Speaker 4: I guess what he's saying, right, So I guess what
- 47:31Speaker 4: he's saying is that if they let that contract expire
- 47:35Speaker 4: when the league year starts tomorrow, then does it still
- 47:38Speaker 4: count as an extension with Jacksonville versus if they sign it.
- 47:42Speaker 3: I don't. I don't know.
- 47:43Speaker 4: I think it does because you're not actually signing the
- 47:46Speaker 4: contract today. You're just agreeing in principle to the frame.
- 47:49Speaker 4: It's the same, right or it's going to be at
- 47:51Speaker 4: the same time period anyways.
- 47:53Speaker 3: So no, But like, is.
- 47:55Speaker 10: There a way that they could game it and just say,
- 47:57Speaker 10: you know, we're gonna you know, yeah, we're agree, but
- 48:00Speaker 10: we're not going to announce this until next week. If
- 48:02Speaker 10: that gets them out of compensation, well they can like
- 48:04Speaker 10: a loophole.
- 48:05Speaker 4: Right, but they can't sign the contract out tomorrow anyways.
- 48:09Speaker 3: Oh, I know.
- 48:09Speaker 10: But instead of waiting until like right away, if you
- 48:13Speaker 10: just wait a week or so, then well he was
- 48:16Speaker 10: out there for anybody to sign, and we resigned them.
- 48:19Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 48:19Speaker 10: I didn't know the stipulation about the second round pick,
- 48:23Speaker 10: so I'm not up on all my Calvin Ridley Minutia.
- 48:26Speaker 10: I am way too, but I will take Calvin Ridley.
- 48:30Speaker 10: I think it's going to happen. I think the Patriot's
- 48:31Speaker 10: going to get him another Calvin. This one's in Denver.
- 48:35Speaker 10: I'm with the other person who rode in from Denver.
- 48:37Speaker 2: On the socials, a lot of people are thinking and
- 48:40Speaker 2: talk and take taking the Jacobi signing as if he
- 48:44Speaker 2: is the quarterback and along with that they're going to
- 48:46Speaker 2: draft a wide receiver or tackle. I'm with you. All
- 48:50Speaker 2: this signing does show that they're most likely drafting a
- 48:53Speaker 2: quarterback who on the socials are saying that he's the guy.
- 48:57Speaker 3: Fans, that's what he's talking about on social I.
- 49:00Speaker 2: Know that's what but I'm thinking, like, who's doing that.
- 49:02Speaker 6: I haven't seen.
- 49:03Speaker 2: I'm saying that incredulously.
- 49:04Speaker 3: Oh, I thought you were asking specifically.
- 49:07Speaker 2: I'm saying that rhetorically, I guess yeah.
- 49:09Speaker 10: I mean my thing would be if if that wasn't
- 49:11Speaker 10: the case, then you wouldn't have signed him to a
- 49:13Speaker 10: one year deal. If you were signing Jacobe Brissett to
- 49:15Speaker 10: be your quarterback, it would be longer than a one
- 49:17Speaker 10: year deal.
- 49:19Speaker 2: Question, how much stock do you all take into when
- 49:21Speaker 2: the active player judon talking up one quarterback over others,
- 49:27Speaker 2: I e. Jayde and Daniels. I didn't know he was
- 49:29Speaker 2: doing that. Is that what he's doing?
- 49:30Speaker 5: He was on Good Morning Football, and I guess they're
- 49:32Speaker 5: referring to what he was talking about.
- 49:33Speaker 2: Oh okay back then, Yeah, okay.
- 49:35Speaker 4: I think a lot of those guys watch a lot
- 49:37Speaker 4: of LSU YEP, and probably don't watch a whole lot
- 49:39Speaker 4: of North Carolina football, so or you know whatever. They
- 49:43Speaker 4: watch a lot of the big schools, and you got
- 49:45Speaker 4: friends that went to those schools or went to that school.
- 49:47Speaker 4: So I wouldn't look too much into he's probably just
- 49:50Speaker 4: seen more more Jayden, Daniels.
- 49:52Speaker 2: Rob and San Diego via Connecticut. Many of us have
- 49:55Speaker 2: a player whom we admire or support despite the mediocre performance.
- 49:59Speaker 2: For me, one of those players is Jacoby Brissett. I
- 50:03Speaker 2: vividly recall watching him play as a Patriots starter against
- 50:06Speaker 2: the Texans and being impressed by how he handled himself
- 50:09Speaker 2: in such a crazy situation. His letter to fans when
- 50:12Speaker 2: he moved on showed his character, and he has consistently
- 50:15Speaker 2: done his job at various teams without drama. I've often
- 50:19Speaker 2: joked about wanting a preset Patriots jersey, and now it
- 50:21Speaker 2: seems like I'll have the opportunity to get one. Despite
- 50:25Speaker 2: knowing he's not a superstar, I simply like him. Does
- 50:28Speaker 2: anyone else in the crew have a similar affinity for
- 50:30Speaker 2: a player who others might consider mediocre. That's a good question.
- 50:36Speaker 3: Matt Lacasse, Tom Ashworth.
- 50:38Speaker 4: Yeah, not anymore, but maybe back back before I started
- 50:43Speaker 4: doing this, I guess maybe.
- 50:46Speaker 8: For Ninkovich early on, yeah, before he got good, before
- 50:51Speaker 8: he got good.
- 50:51Speaker 6: And then I was like, well, everybody loves Ninkovic, you.
- 50:53Speaker 10: Know, yeah, Nikovich show with like a word. I think
- 50:56Speaker 10: he's a little bit too good of a player to
- 50:58Speaker 10: fit into this count.
- 50:59Speaker 8: No, well, I mean, like I was really, you know,
- 51:02Speaker 8: taking my blog from just a Tumblr blog to like
- 51:05Speaker 8: an actual blog when he made the team, And so
- 51:07Speaker 8: you guys know, I'm a defense guy. So it was
- 51:09Speaker 8: all of a sudden, this guy is starting to come
- 51:11Speaker 8: out of nowhere playing a lot, and you know, and
- 51:13Speaker 8: then he became a player who played every single down
- 51:14Speaker 8: as a defensive end and everybody loved him so but
- 51:17Speaker 8: early on he was a blog favorite.
- 51:19Speaker 2: I always, like, you know, tend to kind of fall
- 51:22Speaker 2: in love with a guy in camp that you know,
- 51:24Speaker 2: I say, Oh, this guy is gonna, Jeff come out
- 51:26Speaker 2: of nowhere, you know, and be the guy. And I'm
- 51:29Speaker 2: always wrong about I'm.
- 51:30Speaker 4: Always wrong about Thomas Thomas.
- 51:34Speaker 3: Did I tell you that one?
- 51:36Speaker 2: Then?
- 51:36Speaker 4: An actor Fred's he was It's amazing Jeff Thomas.
- 51:42Speaker 3: Yeah, did Freddy.
- 51:44Speaker 4: Have He didn't even make it in the Spring Leaves.
- 51:46Speaker 10: I know he kept calling him Jeff Daniels, Jeff, Jeff Thomas.
- 51:50Speaker 3: It really Jeff Daniel, you haven't killed fred Is.
- 51:54Speaker 8: He just kept calling I mean Jeff Daniels, like who,
- 51:57Speaker 8: I don't remember.
- 51:58Speaker 4: That Jeff Daniels doesn't bell.
- 52:00Speaker 2: You don't know from Jeff Daniels, from what Jeff.
- 52:03Speaker 10: Daniels real actor, like the actor never heard it? Like
- 52:09Speaker 10: dumb in the newsroom, Yes, he was a star in
- 52:12Speaker 10: the Speed. I remember the newsroom and Speed. Yeah, Okay,
- 52:15Speaker 10: he's a very versatile actor.
- 52:18Speaker 2: Wide range, Mike's and Florida, he says, going back to
- 52:22Speaker 2: the chef to report it seems to me as a
- 52:24Speaker 2: negotiating tactic. Ridley's agent trying to strong arm the Patriots
- 52:28Speaker 2: into offering a few more dollars. Seems odd to report
- 52:31Speaker 2: the Patriots are pushing, but his preference is to return
- 52:33Speaker 2: to Jacksonville for less money. With Kirk and Davis, there
- 52:36Speaker 2: wouldn't be shocked to see Kirk to Patriots by the
- 52:39Speaker 2: end of the.
- 52:39Speaker 4: Day, Ridley to Patriots. But I agree, and his agent,
- 52:44Speaker 4: David Malaga, is one of the best in the business.
- 52:47Speaker 4: He's got a ton of big name receiver clients, in particular,
- 52:50Speaker 4: like the entire top of the receiver free agent class.
- 52:53Speaker 4: And this is all David maloed.
- 52:55Speaker 3: I think, what's what?
- 52:56Speaker 10: And I do think I said about twenty minutes ago.
- 52:58Speaker 10: I still think that they're going to end up getting Ridley,
- 53:01Speaker 10: but I'm a little surprised that he's not getting as
- 53:03Speaker 10: much interest as I thought he would.
- 53:05Speaker 5: Do you think it's because people see value more in
- 53:07Speaker 5: drafting one of these guys in the drafts, and probably
- 53:10Speaker 5: such a strong draft class they can get a good
- 53:12Speaker 5: quality guy for way less money.
- 53:14Speaker 3: Yep. Yeah, I think that's a big part of it.
- 53:16Speaker 10: But I just thought that as really the only one
- 53:20Speaker 10: someone would say, well, we like Kansas City everybody you know,
- 53:23Speaker 10: Evan said to me off air a little while ago,
- 53:26Speaker 10: you know, sign a one year deal with Kansas City. Yeah,
- 53:29Speaker 10: and then really strike it rich next year after Mahomes.
- 53:32Speaker 10: You know, does it all for you? I'm surprised that
- 53:35Speaker 10: he hasn't gotten any you think real interest.
- 53:37Speaker 2: Do you think his history has anything to do with it?
- 53:40Speaker 3: Maybe?
- 53:40Speaker 4: Yes, I think I think it does. And at this
- 53:43Speaker 4: point in free agency, we're not at the the you know,
- 53:47Speaker 4: freeqency tours where guys go to meet with teams and
- 53:50Speaker 4: stuff like that, So you're just throwing him a bag
- 53:53Speaker 4: of money sight unseen a little bit, and I do
- 53:56Speaker 4: think that that is a factor.
- 53:58Speaker 10: Uh.
- 53:59Speaker 2: Paul in Ohio love the show. I just want to
- 54:01Speaker 2: give you my Marvin Harrison Junior take as a lifelong
- 54:05Speaker 2: buck guy who's watched every snap he's taken in college
- 54:07Speaker 2: and seen every spring game in person. I also emailed
- 54:11Speaker 2: in during the nineteen draft, pounding the table for and
- 54:14Speaker 2: arguing with Andy over Terry McLaren the Patriots would be
- 54:17Speaker 2: the worst possible landing spot for MHJ. He's got all
- 54:20Speaker 2: the physical tools, but he does not respond well to
- 54:23Speaker 2: difficult circumstances. I go as far as calling him soft.
- 54:27Speaker 2: If he goes to a team without a quality quarterback
- 54:29Speaker 2: and other playmakers to take the heat off him, he
- 54:32Speaker 2: will wilt. Been listening since six The show has never
- 54:36Speaker 2: been better. Thank you for all the.
- 54:37Speaker 8: Hard work, I said the Matiso stairs, I'm like, I
- 54:40Speaker 8: don't even I don't even want to rule out Neighbors
- 54:42Speaker 8: like that guy is explosive.
- 54:45Speaker 6: I don't every time I watch him.
- 54:47Speaker 8: I'm just so intrigued that, you know, not to say
- 54:49Speaker 8: that whenever I see Marvin Harrison Junior, Like, it isn't
- 54:51Speaker 8: just you know, he's just one of those guys that
- 54:53Speaker 8: physically is so gifted that he kind of naturally dominates.
- 54:57Speaker 8: But I don't know guys like Neighbors, where he kind
- 54:59Speaker 8: of a little bit more for me. And I know
- 55:01Speaker 8: he's got elite speed, but there's just something really appealing
- 55:04Speaker 8: to me.
- 55:05Speaker 4: About that doesn't surprise me coming from an Ohio State fan,
- 55:08Speaker 4: because over the years, Marvin Harrison Junior has tapped out
- 55:11Speaker 4: of some big games because of you know, bumps and bruises, injuries,
- 55:15Speaker 4: things like that, and that I do not That doesn't
- 55:19Speaker 4: surprise me that that's the sentiment, But I wonder how
- 55:22Speaker 4: much of that was, you know, until nil like, I'm
- 55:25Speaker 4: not really getting paid to do this, and I have
- 55:27Speaker 4: an NFL future and I'm am I going to really
- 55:30Speaker 4: push it in this big ten game when I have
- 55:33Speaker 4: bigger things on my mind. I know Buckeye's fans don't
- 55:35Speaker 4: want to hear.
- 55:36Speaker 2: That, but Rodrigo says, I'm not sure about this, seem man.
- 55:39Speaker 2: He says, the Patriots are getting played. Jaguars and Ridley
- 55:42Speaker 2: are working together to make sure Ridley signs after the
- 55:44Speaker 2: season starts so they won't have to give up the
- 55:46Speaker 2: second rounder.
- 55:47Speaker 3: So but how does that help Ridley?
- 55:51Speaker 2: How does that help Jacksonville?
- 55:52Speaker 3: Right, they don't have to give up the second round?
- 55:54Speaker 2: No, no, no, I know, but like why do they even
- 55:57Speaker 2: Like if that's true, yeah, but they just wait to
- 56:00Speaker 2: sign him then, I mean, what how are we getting played?
- 56:03Speaker 3: Well, if you still think you have a chance to
- 56:05Speaker 3: get him, I.
- 56:06Speaker 2: Know, but like why, Like, what's what's the benefit for
- 56:10Speaker 2: Jacksonville to keep us on the hook?
- 56:14Speaker 10: There's no benefit to keep the Patriots on the hook, right,
- 56:17Speaker 10: So how are we getting played if they still think
- 56:20Speaker 10: they can get him and they really can't. Yeah, it's
- 56:23Speaker 10: it's a hypothetical. Yeah, I don't know what the truth is,
- 56:26Speaker 10: but I think you had You just had two emails
- 56:27Speaker 10: in the last three emails that No, but.
- 56:29Speaker 3: It's a great point.
- 56:30Speaker 10: Counterpoint, But the Patriots are actually going to get him,
- 56:34Speaker 10: and if he wanted to stay in Jacksonville, he would
- 56:37Speaker 10: have just resigned with Jacksonville. And it's clear he's getting
- 56:40Speaker 10: more money and he's trying to get Jacksonville.
- 56:42Speaker 3: To go up to what the Patriots are.
- 56:44Speaker 10: Okay, so strategically, the other side of it is what
- 56:46Speaker 10: this guy is saying, Actually, the Patriots are the ones
- 56:49Speaker 10: that aren't going to get him because he wants to
- 56:50Speaker 10: stay in Jacksonville.
- 56:51Speaker 3: It's a done deal.
- 56:52Speaker 10: They're just waiting for the league year so they don't
- 56:55Speaker 10: have to give up this second round pick. So I
- 56:56Speaker 10: don't know which one of those is true. But that's
- 56:58Speaker 10: your point, counterpoint.
- 56:59Speaker 4: This technicality of when he signs, I don't know the answer.
- 57:03Speaker 4: I didn't.
- 57:04Speaker 3: I wasn't even aware of it until ten minutes.
- 57:05Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I was aware of it, But I
- 57:07Speaker 4: just I don't know the answer. To me, it seems
- 57:10Speaker 4: like they would have to give up the second round
- 57:12Speaker 4: pick either way. I don't know how the league would
- 57:14Speaker 4: like go either go in a separate direction from that.
- 57:17Speaker 4: That's the agreement of the trade.
- 57:19Speaker 3: But does the agreement of the trade. And again, I
- 57:22Speaker 3: just learned about this ten minutes.
- 57:25Speaker 10: Right, if he's on the roster on March thirteenth of
- 57:28Speaker 10: twenty twenty four, I will win the draft.
- 57:31Speaker 3: You will. The Falcons are draft pick deadline.
- 57:35Speaker 4: The term that I keep on hearing is extension. So
- 57:38Speaker 4: extension would tell me that, Yeah, if they wait till tomorrow,
- 57:41Speaker 4: then the contract has expired. It's no longer an extension.
- 57:45Speaker 4: It's a new contract.
- 57:46Speaker 3: I'm wondering if they can get a loophole here.
- 57:47Speaker 4: That would be a loophole.
- 57:48Speaker 3: I don't know. Somewhere Belichick. Belichick is smiling something.
- 57:51Speaker 2: Sounds like the Falcons are the ones that are getting played.
- 57:54Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 57:54Speaker 8: Well, I mean I have a question for you, Evan,
- 57:56Speaker 8: I mean, what would you prefer right now in this
- 57:59Speaker 8: draft a second pick or Calvin Ridley?
- 58:01Speaker 4: Well, the Patriots aren't giving up the second No, I'm
- 58:03Speaker 4: telling Jackson, Oh uh, probably Calvin Ridley for them, just
- 58:08Speaker 4: because I think that they are trying to win.
- 58:12Speaker 3: They can have both.
- 58:15Speaker 4: I think I don't know the technicalities of the like
- 58:18Speaker 4: we have to have somebody clarify that, you know, Tom Pelli,
- 58:21Speaker 4: Sara or Chefter or somebody.
- 58:22Speaker 2: If they wait, they get Ridley and the second they
- 58:25Speaker 2: keep their second round pick.
- 58:26Speaker 10: I think now, if not, I would rather have Calvin Ridley.
- 58:29Speaker 10: He's a proven commodity.
- 58:30Speaker 4: Yeah to me, that that, to me is a loophole.
- 58:33Speaker 4: As Paul put it, that I don't sounds like it's
- 58:37Speaker 4: going to be tricky to Yeah, exactly.
- 58:39Speaker 2: Yeah, let's see Andrew from New Jersey. This round of
- 58:44Speaker 2: signings just shows how much you need a franchise quarterback
- 58:47Speaker 2: and how far we've were falling so quickly from a
- 58:50Speaker 2: destination franchise. I've always said we should snab one of
- 58:53Speaker 2: the draft's top three quarterbacks. May Or Daniels trading down
- 58:56Speaker 2: for more picks. The smoke screen rumors that someone is
- 59:00Speaker 2: pushing Elliot Wolf about trading down in stockpiling picks is ridiculous.
- 59:05Speaker 2: Dalton Schultz sticking with Houston because of Stroud, Ridley staying
- 59:08Speaker 2: put in the Jaguars because of Trevor, Lawrence Barkley probably
- 59:12Speaker 2: wants to play with Hurtz and Philly. No wonder nobody's
- 59:14Speaker 2: putting New England on their top list for free agency.
- 59:17Speaker 2: Without a standout quarterback, it's tough to draw in the
- 59:20Speaker 2: big names, even with good money on the table.
- 59:23Speaker 10: Yeah, I need to see what the money is and
- 59:26Speaker 10: I need to see what Ridley does. I'm not writing
- 59:28Speaker 10: him off yet. I still think there's a chance the
- 59:30Speaker 10: Patriots gonn sign him.
- 59:31Speaker 4: Right, I agree, but I think there only draws the money.
- 59:34Speaker 4: Oh that's the emailer's point and so now.
- 59:37Speaker 10: But I want to but like what the emailer says, like,
- 59:39Speaker 10: even good money on the table, I want to see
- 59:41Speaker 10: the money before I just assume it's good money.
- 59:43Speaker 4: He's not gonna take ten million less.
- 59:45Speaker 2: Evan, your your alter ego is feeding into this. This
- 59:48Speaker 2: is from James and Portsmouth UK. He says, I just
- 59:51Speaker 2: saw Alex Barth floated the idea on X that if
- 59:54Speaker 2: the Jaguars wait until after the new league year starts
- 59:57Speaker 2: to sign Ridley, they only have to give a third
- 59:59Speaker 2: round pick to Atlanta, not a second. There you go,
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: Do you think this could all be a smoke screen
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: so they can give up less to keep him and
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: he is always intending to go back there, making it
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: official after four pm tomorrow.
- 1:00:13Speaker 10: I do think it's a possibility absolutely, But again again
- 1:00:17Speaker 10: I just want to reiterate there might be a little
- 1:00:19Speaker 10: did not know.
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: About this ten minutes ago? Come in all seriousness.
- 1:00:27Speaker 10: You know what I I can't said when you listen
- 1:00:30Speaker 10: to my shows was that, well, did I do that right?
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: Fred?
- 1:00:34Speaker 10: When I listened to my shows and it's clear that
- 1:00:38Speaker 10: someone calls in with something like that that they have
- 1:00:40Speaker 10: no idea about. It doesn't happen a lot, but you
- 1:00:43Speaker 10: can tell when they're just trying to fake it. I
- 1:00:46Speaker 10: don't really know what this is, but I think the
- 1:00:49Speaker 10: Patriots should really make a push from Mike to so
- 1:00:52Speaker 10: this kid, he's got a good quick first and you
- 1:00:56Speaker 10: can clearly tell they don't know who the guy is
- 1:00:59Speaker 10: that they're talking about, and they're like scrambling around trying
- 1:01:02Speaker 10: to find you know, it happens like NHL trade deadline
- 1:01:04Speaker 10: a lot because nobody knows the NHL like Frontwoods and
- 1:01:08Speaker 10: Back which there's so many players change, they all change teams.
- 1:01:12Speaker 6: That was Chucks for me. I was like who, I mean,
- 1:01:15Speaker 6: never knew who he.
- 1:01:16Speaker 4: Was I'm a little disappointed in you and the rot.
- 1:01:20Speaker 3: Of course I can't get that name right. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: That was a perfect example.
- 1:01:24Speaker 10: If if we were on the show and someone called
- 1:01:26Speaker 10: in and said I think the Patriots should trade for
- 1:01:28Speaker 10: a Corps four or sign a corter for I would
- 1:01:30Speaker 10: have been like, I don't know who that is, yeah,
- 1:01:34Speaker 10: but I think it's It's my point, I guess is
- 1:01:37Speaker 10: it's so transparent when you don't know who it is
- 1:01:40Speaker 10: and instead you say, yeah, I mean I could see
- 1:01:42Speaker 10: them doing a move like that, and then you you know,
- 1:01:44Speaker 10: you're clearly looking at.
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: Your phone trying to oh yeah, I mean they need help.
- 1:01:48Speaker 10: But the offensive line, you know, like you can tell
- 1:01:52Speaker 10: when a guy.
- 1:01:54Speaker 4: Was that your show, Paul, your main show was on
- 1:01:58Speaker 4: yesterday when they signed Taki Taki, Because they would have
- 1:02:00Speaker 4: been like, Taki who And that would have been great.
- 1:02:03Speaker 10: Oh yeah, like they have no idea who. They don't
- 1:02:05Speaker 10: pretend a lot, They don't pretend a lot.
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: Those two.
- 1:02:08Speaker 4: They would have had a fun with that because I
- 1:02:09Speaker 4: think they were.
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: Somehow it as a badge of honor. Yeah, we don't
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: follow this.
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: Yeah, we're not nerds.
- 1:02:15Speaker 4: Sorry, some of us are nerds.
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: Where and you should wear that badge with honor. I do,
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: I do, David and Bethlehem says, I'm worried about May
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: playing in the ACC week Conference Nixon Oregon had stronger opponents,
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: agree or not, Well, maybe he did, but that doesn't
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: mean he's a better quarterback.
- 1:02:32Speaker 9: Yeah, absolutely out.
- 1:02:33Speaker 10: So when Nicks played against strong competition, he sucked in
- 1:02:36Speaker 10: the SEC, right.
- 1:02:39Speaker 4: Yeah, he was better in the PAC twelve.
- 1:02:40Speaker 3: He was definitely the better last, but still nothing compared
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: to the SEC.
- 1:02:46Speaker 4: I would say thirty. You do see a lot his
- 1:02:51Speaker 4: pro day today, by the way. Yeah, a lot of
- 1:02:53Speaker 4: the the ex quarterbacks that we love to talk about
- 1:02:56Speaker 4: about here are so much the Orkis, the Warners, those guys,
- 1:03:00Speaker 4: they all really like bon Nicks, and I've I've decided
- 1:03:03Speaker 4: that they all really like floor quarterbacks like he just
- 1:03:06Speaker 4: bo Nicks is one of those guys that is accurate,
- 1:03:10Speaker 4: you know, does it, does the you know, season things correctly,
- 1:03:13Speaker 4: progressions correctly, throws the ball pretty accurately.
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: Like he does.
- 1:03:20Speaker 6: Definitely a little bit.
- 1:03:21Speaker 4: But he's he's more closer to mac Jones than he
- 1:03:24Speaker 4: is to Drake May. Let me put it to you
- 1:03:26Speaker 4: that way, and that that just seems to be who
- 1:03:28Speaker 4: A lot of they have a lot of those guys,
- 1:03:30Speaker 4: you know, Chris Sims, they have Bonis really high, you know,
- 1:03:34Speaker 4: QB three, QB four, something like that.
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: We've got to here and the patriots up in the
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: admin level. We've got a little, uh sort of coven
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: of Michigan people and they're all pounding the table for
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: yeah for JJ.
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: Who are these people?
- 1:03:50Speaker 6: Think it's down the street, not street.
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: In the marketing area. So I asked one of them.
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: I asked one of them. I said, oh, you know,
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: so what does JJ stand for? She couldn't tell me.
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: You're not really you don't You don't know, do you not?
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: I don't know, you know, but I'm not. I'm not
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: pounding for JJ. McCarthy.
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: Is that what it is?
- 1:04:08Speaker 8: No idea COVID like witches, coven, covin.
- 1:04:12Speaker 9: Honestly, after we just need person.
- 1:04:17Speaker 8: Yeah, American movie, don't worry about it.
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: What are you babbling about?
- 1:04:22Speaker 10: I thought someone was making When we're having conversation at
- 1:04:26Speaker 10: a lower level, let us go.
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: That's what makes us people world's original podcast.
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: When we took talk over each other. People that can't
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: hear anything.
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: We're talking under.
- 1:04:35Speaker 4: It's Jonathan James. By the way, Jonathan Wow, John James smid.
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: I'm not a big fan of the high floor quarterback.
- 1:04:45Speaker 6: I mean that I was sold on that with Mac.
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: I'm not surprised. I'm ready for a doesn't like try
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: hard guys. No, no, no, no, that's.
- 1:04:51Speaker 3: Not a try hard guy.
- 1:04:54Speaker 10: A high floor guy is a guy who has the floor.
- 1:04:57Speaker 10: The worst he's going to be is serviceable. That's the
- 1:05:00Speaker 10: worst I want the guy with the talent that he
- 1:05:03Speaker 10: might be a train wreck.
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: But the upside is Patrick Mahomes.
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: That's the league.
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: Now, that's what I want.
- 1:05:10Speaker 4: I feel like we have in this I'm just speaking
- 1:05:12Speaker 4: for myself. I guess I feel like I have gotten
- 1:05:15Speaker 4: to that point because of Mac. Now in this draft,
- 1:05:18Speaker 4: I have no interest in the bo Nixes, I have
- 1:05:20Speaker 4: no interest. I like Michael Pennix for a lot of
- 1:05:23Speaker 4: his intangibles, but I think he's in a similar boat
- 1:05:25Speaker 4: where he played with a bunch of five star receivers
- 1:05:29Speaker 4: around him. His left tackle's going to get drafted in
- 1:05:31Speaker 4: the first round, his right tackle's gonna get drafted in
- 1:05:33Speaker 4: the third round. All of his receivers are going top
- 1:05:36Speaker 4: one hundred. It's just one of the same thing is
- 1:05:39Speaker 4: what we heard at album, and I think Pennix is
- 1:05:40Speaker 4: a better, you know, physical talent than Mack was. But
- 1:05:43Speaker 4: him Bo Nicks those types of players. I'd much rather
- 1:05:46Speaker 4: take a swing on On Daniels or Drake May and
- 1:05:49Speaker 4: hope that it works out well.
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: You know what, Easy to drink, easy to enjoy. Bud Light,
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: the official beer sponsor of the New England Patriots and
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: also wearing green for Saint Patrick's days. Be sure to
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: save some green too with Bob's Discount Furniture's full selection
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: of trendy styles to spruce up every room. Shop party

- 1:06:16Speaker 2: lucky shopper at Bob's Discount Furniture, the official furniture store
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: of the New and the Patriots.
- 1:06:23Speaker 8: So fred is the I know we're talking about maybe
- 1:06:25Speaker 8: a little studio makeover, but is Bob's Discount Furniture studio
- 1:06:28Speaker 8: for Paul gonna get made over for preseason? I don't
- 1:06:30Speaker 8: know to get like, you know.
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: We'll probably look at something.
- 1:06:33Speaker 4: Yeah, when Jacobett's playing, it's the starter, Noah writes, in
- 1:06:39Speaker 4: two questions.
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: First, is Paul always yelling or does he just talk
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: crazy loud? No, but I did notice, like when we
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: couldn't hear each other, we all took off our headphones
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: except Paul, so he was yelling because he couldn't take himself.
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: Oh is that true?
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: Yes?
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: I apologize.
- 1:06:56Speaker 9: I apologized.
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: And to what is the over under for each of
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: the top three draft quarterbacks should they come to New England?
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: For how many games they sit behind per set? How
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: much development do the potentials need to usurp him? So
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: it's kind of a good question. So let's throw all
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: three in there. You know, any one of them who
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: has to sit the longest, who has to sit the least?
- 1:07:20Speaker 6: I mean, I'm gonna just throw out there.
- 1:07:23Speaker 8: I'd say Caleb blames the least, just because he's go
- 1:07:25Speaker 8: out there and just make it.
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: Plus his father will insist.
- 1:07:28Speaker 4: I thought we were going a different three, but oh
- 1:07:30Speaker 4: keep going oh oh oh.
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: Okay, I mean like we're not realistic.
- 1:07:34Speaker 4: Well yeah, I don't think we can.
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: Like Caleb's not realistic, Okay, so let's do five then.
- 1:07:38Speaker 4: No, I'm just saying I think we can go. Drake
- 1:07:40Speaker 4: made Jade and Daniels JJ McCarthy. I that's the conversation
- 1:07:44Speaker 4: I think we're having now. I don't think the Pennix.
- 1:07:46Speaker 4: Maybe at the top of the second round.
- 1:07:48Speaker 8: Okay, but I think at least the season for JJ McCarthy,
- 1:07:52Speaker 8: I would I would guess, but four games the other
- 1:07:56Speaker 8: two something like that, maybe a little bit longer.
- 1:07:58Speaker 6: On Jane Daniels, I don't know.
- 1:08:00Speaker 4: I think you're gonna get to camp with with both
- 1:08:03Speaker 4: Jayden Daniels and Drake may as a team like the
- 1:08:06Speaker 4: Patriots that don't have you know that that's that solidified starter,
- 1:08:12Speaker 4: that's not Jacoby Brissett. I think you're gonna get into
- 1:08:14Speaker 4: training camp and you're gonna be like, we can't keep
- 1:08:16Speaker 4: this guy off the field. I think he's gonna be
- 1:08:19Speaker 4: that much better, uh then the than Jacoby Brissett. The
- 1:08:22Speaker 4: only question would be do you do it just for
- 1:08:24Speaker 4: his own good that you hold the clipboard for a month,
- 1:08:27Speaker 4: you hold a clipboard till Halloween, just because you think
- 1:08:29Speaker 4: that's what's best for his long term development, not necessarily
- 1:08:32Speaker 4: that he's the worst player.
- 1:08:33Speaker 6: I like that. I like how you put it.
- 1:08:34Speaker 10: Yeah, I'm not interested in any of the rookie quarterbacks
- 1:08:38Speaker 10: if they have to sit for more than a year.
- 1:08:39Speaker 10: By the way, no mean like this whole like Drake
- 1:08:42Speaker 10: may needs to sit for two years.
- 1:08:44Speaker 6: It goes back to what hevn't said.
- 1:08:45Speaker 8: It's like if you're not if you don't really have
- 1:08:46Speaker 8: a belief that this guy could at some point knock
- 1:08:49Speaker 8: off Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes at least like fool yourself,
- 1:08:52Speaker 8: like like what are you doing.
- 1:08:53Speaker 6: You're just spinning your wheels like miss On. That's why
- 1:08:56Speaker 6: I keep saying it's worth it to miss On.
- 1:08:59Speaker 3: I don't mind if it to miss On.
- 1:09:00Speaker 10: I don't mind if they if they draft someone at
- 1:09:02Speaker 10: number three and he's not ready to play week one,
- 1:09:05Speaker 10: and you sort of have.
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: A soft soft launch soft.
- 1:09:07Speaker 10: Opening, you know, and you sort of you know Tua,
- 1:09:11Speaker 10: I think I think Evan and I were talking about
- 1:09:13Speaker 10: that earlier too. Ryan Fitzpatrick was there, kind of a
- 1:09:15Speaker 10: similar guy to Jacoby Brissett. You let Fitzpatrick play and
- 1:09:21Speaker 10: then at some point you replace him.
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: That's ideal to me. But in a one year max.
- 1:09:29Speaker 10: If by year two he's not ready to play, we
- 1:09:33Speaker 10: have a problem. We don't have Brett Favre keeping Aaron
- 1:09:36Speaker 10: Rodgers on the bench. We don't have Aaron Rodgers keeping
- 1:09:39Speaker 10: Jordan Love on the bench, so I think that would
- 1:09:42Speaker 10: be a real concern two years.
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: In and you're you're not ready to play yet.
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: Let's check out the acetick A hotline eight five to
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: five pass five hundred. Bronson's in Salt Lake City. What's up, Bronson?
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: Hey good, thanks for holding on.
- 1:09:57Speaker 11: Yeah, a couple of things really quick. So no, we're
- 1:10:02Speaker 11: all obviously kind of said on drafting either quarterback that's
- 1:10:06Speaker 11: there is three, and obviously we're going after Ridley excessively. Okay,
- 1:10:13Speaker 11: Now say if we don't Land, is there a world
- 1:10:18Speaker 11: where you guys.
- 1:10:19Speaker 12: Either go after a trade for like Keenan Allen, big
- 1:10:25Speaker 12: Games a Yuk or do you possibly go after another
- 1:10:32Speaker 12: free agent like Smith and the tackle and go after
- 1:10:36Speaker 12: two wide receivers in the draft?
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: Okay, all right, thanks for the call.
- 1:10:41Speaker 4: I think they'll pivot in the veteran market if Caln
- 1:10:44Speaker 4: Ridley turns them down, whether it's Hollywood Brown, it's a
- 1:10:48Speaker 4: trade candidate, I think they'll pivot to somebody.
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: The only problem, you know, somebody else said, you know,
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: with cousins leaving Minnesota, does that possibly make Justin Jefferson
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: available in the trade. Maybe, but man, you're gonna have
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: to give up so much. And we're talking about the
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: Patriots needing to you know, draft develop I think that
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: hurts them to that's give up a boatload for Justin Jefferson.
- 1:11:13Speaker 4: Well, what if or what if we do the Colin
- 1:11:15Speaker 4: Coward and trade's he's he stinks he can't play now,
- 1:11:20Speaker 4: Colin the radio host, I would do this deal that
- 1:11:22Speaker 4: he's going to propose. I don't think there's any chance
- 1:11:24Speaker 4: that Minnesota would. But if the Patriots trade down with
- 1:11:28Speaker 4: Minnesota from three to eleven and Justin Jefferson is in
- 1:11:33Speaker 4: the trade from Minnesota's.
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: Side, but they want more than that, I don't.
- 1:11:36Speaker 4: I don't think so.
- 1:11:38Speaker 10: Colin Coward has the Patriots also getting Minnesota's first round
- 1:11:41Speaker 10: pick next year in this deal. Yeah, okay, so again
- 1:11:44Speaker 10: I'm all for this trade.
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: I'll take it.
- 1:11:46Speaker 3: I'm all for this trade.
- 1:11:47Speaker 10: I don't think there's any chance that to move up
- 1:11:49Speaker 10: eight spots they're going to give up one of the
- 1:11:51Speaker 10: five best players in football plus a future first round pick,
- 1:11:54Speaker 10: and I think a second round pick is that.
- 1:11:56Speaker 4: I don't know how much the deal would look.
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: Like unless they're trying to do what the Bills doing.
- 1:12:00Speaker 4: I don't know how much to deal with.
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: I don't know exactly what I think rid of, you know, money.
- 1:12:05Speaker 4: No, I don't know how what the deal is actually
- 1:12:07Speaker 4: would would look like in terms of all the picks
- 1:12:09Speaker 4: that go back and forth. But make the Vikings have
- 1:12:12Speaker 4: to ante up in that situation, like the Patriots are
- 1:12:15Speaker 4: the ones that are trading down, and you're, well, you're
- 1:12:17Speaker 4: also trading down and handing the Vikings a quarterback in
- 1:12:21Speaker 4: the draft.
- 1:12:22Speaker 10: But you're trading down, yes, but the guy trading up
- 1:12:26Speaker 10: is giving up a lot, like the right.
- 1:12:29Speaker 4: But you count Justin Jefferson as an asset, right, so
- 1:12:32Speaker 4: like what it seems, just a regular asset. It's better
- 1:12:35Speaker 4: than anything you're going to get. He's one of my
- 1:12:39Speaker 4: favorite players in the league. I'm not telling you he's bad,
- 1:12:41Speaker 4: like it's not. But think about it as Justin Jefferson
- 1:12:45Speaker 4: is worth how many picks und picks? I don't think so.
- 1:12:48Speaker 4: Tyreek Hill didn't even get two first round picks, and
- 1:12:52Speaker 4: I don't know if he is. And you're also talking
- 1:12:54Speaker 4: you also have to pay him, Like that's the whole
- 1:12:56Speaker 4: part from the Vikings standpoint, is they might not want
- 1:12:58Speaker 4: to pay Justin Jefferson thirty millionion dollars a year, So
- 1:13:01Speaker 4: that that's guess what that's that's what would make that
- 1:13:05Speaker 4: to me is the that's the only reason they're getting
- 1:13:07Speaker 4: rid of them, Like it wouldn't be any other reason.
- 1:13:09Speaker 10: And that to me would be the the stumbling block
- 1:13:12Speaker 10: for Jefferson A Higgins. Like I would say, yes, yes,
- 1:13:16Speaker 10: and yes. So all three of those guys, take any
- 1:13:18Speaker 10: of them. They're all terrific players, and I would be
- 1:13:21Speaker 10: willing to trade resources to get them. But the problem
- 1:13:24Speaker 10: is you're trading resources, and to make it worth your while,
- 1:13:28Speaker 10: you now have to give that contract. So you have
- 1:13:31Speaker 10: to have some kind of assurance, you know, and I
- 1:13:33Speaker 10: know there's ways to do that, so like you can't
- 1:13:35Speaker 10: have one. You can't say I'm going to give up
- 1:13:37Speaker 10: to you know, like second round picks in consecutive years
- 1:13:40Speaker 10: for T Higgins and not have an assurance that you're
- 1:13:44Speaker 10: going to be able to retain them.
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: Oh yeah, that's crazy.
- 1:13:46Speaker 4: No, you're definitely trading for him to sign him to
- 1:13:49Speaker 4: an extension. I don't think Brandon Auk is super realistic either. No,
- 1:13:52Speaker 4: I don't think the Niners are trading Brandon AIU t.
- 1:13:56Speaker 4: Higgins is the guy. Has always been the guy, whether
- 1:13:58Speaker 4: it was a free agent or he was you know,
- 1:14:00Speaker 4: in the trading.
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: There's the more chances them trading Deebo Samuel teeah. Yeah,
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: that you thing for the Niners. There's more of a
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: chance of them trading Deebo Samuel than ayk.
- 1:14:09Speaker 8: Yeah, he's a I think that's the That's kind of
- 1:14:13Speaker 8: how things have shifted in the.
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: Last Yeah, but I wouldn't worry about wide receiver if
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: you're a Patriots fan because in this year's draft, our
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: lad has a dual meaning.
- 1:14:23Speaker 6: Oh did you.
- 1:14:23Speaker 2: Get so with the amount of just out of curiosity,
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: you know, you get what I'm saying.
- 1:14:28Speaker 10: Yeah, fifteen minutes left in the show. With the amount
- 1:14:30Speaker 10: of money the Bills have have spent since they let
- 1:14:33Speaker 10: all those guys, could you still think all those guys
- 1:14:34Speaker 10: were just like money things?
- 1:14:36Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, Dave says, of course, Ridley would rather be
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: in Jacksonville, no taxes, the weather's better, quarterbacks better. I
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: would imagine if we would have to offer a considerable
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: amount more than the cheap crafts are willing to pay. Oh,
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: that's terrible. I hope we're at least trying to get Higgins.
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: We're pretty horrible at selecting wide receivers, so trade Juju
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: Thornton a third. We forgot about Thornton.
- 1:14:59Speaker 3: When we were No, I didn't.
- 1:15:01Speaker 4: I talked about him when not a problem. You guys
- 1:15:04Speaker 4: were trying to tell me where are these here's the door,
- 1:15:07Speaker 4: Thank you for coming exactly.
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: But will they do that?
- 1:15:10Speaker 4: Why not? I don't doesn't cost them anything.
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: I think mac grow really likes him.
- 1:15:15Speaker 9: No, he's got to go.
- 1:15:18Speaker 10: Got did I better chance Taekwan throw an on or
- 1:15:23Speaker 10: off the roster for next year?
- 1:15:25Speaker 6: Uh off?
- 1:15:27Speaker 4: I would say taekwon Thornton is I'll be on record
- 1:15:30Speaker 4: saying on battle battling for like wide receiver five or
- 1:15:33Speaker 4: wide receiver six with Jalennrick.
- 1:15:36Speaker 8: No stop it, better chance I'll be on the roster
- 1:15:39Speaker 8: Juju or Thornton juju Juju.
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: Because because of the contract, Rodrigo says, the Jaguars have
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: started a faux bidding war to hide the fact that
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: the deal with Ridley is already done and probably has
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: been done since.
- 1:15:54Speaker 3: There really bumming me since.
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: Before the tampering period, Jaguars are using the Patriots to
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: screw the Falcons. Out of a second round.
- 1:16:00Speaker 8: The first possible, Paul being like super Powl, like I
- 1:16:02Speaker 8: think it's gonna happen.
- 1:16:03Speaker 3: I still think it's gonna happen. I refuse to believe.
- 1:16:05Speaker 8: Don't let them bring you down, Paul, You're gonna happen.
- 1:16:10Speaker 9: At eleven fifty, I think the.
- 1:16:12Speaker 10: Born signing made so little sense that it has to
- 1:16:15Speaker 10: mean Ridley is coming, Like something like that has to
- 1:16:20Speaker 10: be happening.
- 1:16:21Speaker 4: They Oh, yeah, they are planning on adding a veteran receiver,
- 1:16:24Speaker 4: whether it's Calvin Ridley, it's Hollywood Brown, it's a trade
- 1:16:27Speaker 4: for somebody else. Like they're not coming out of this
- 1:16:30Speaker 4: this free agency period without adding a guy that they
- 1:16:33Speaker 4: think is better than Kendrick Bourne. Whether we'd think he's
- 1:16:36Speaker 4: better than Kendrick Bourne, I guess will be remains to
- 1:16:38Speaker 4: be seated.
- 1:16:39Speaker 3: But like Hollywood Brown.
- 1:16:42Speaker 2: Yeah, let's see Zane from New Jersey. Why would Justin
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: Jefferson want to play for the Patriots with no quarterbacks
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: but not want to play with Minnesota who also has
- 1:16:53Speaker 2: no quarterback. That trade doesn't make sense to me.
- 1:16:56Speaker 4: It's not up to Justin Jefferson's trade.
- 1:16:59Speaker 9: I'm sure he's not about Sam Donald though.
- 1:17:02Speaker 3: No That's why I think that he's on the table
- 1:17:06Speaker 3: because he specifically wanted to see what happened with their
- 1:17:09Speaker 3: quarterback situation.
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: Well, you know, now that I think about it when
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: it comes to the Vikings, the fact.
- 1:17:15Speaker 10: This one's gonna be we're gonna spin it, we're gonna
- 1:17:17Speaker 10: spin it going, this one's gonna be good.
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: The fact that they you know, weren't in on Cousins.
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: He's gone, and then they just got Donald, who I
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: put in the category of Jacoby Pressett. Maybe they are
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: thinking of moving up to get themselves.
- 1:17:32Speaker 4: Well Jon McCarthy JJ McCarthy at eleven is obviously in play,
- 1:17:36Speaker 4: but they are one hundred percent of trade up team
- 1:17:38Speaker 4: and the Falcons are no longer a trade up team,
- 1:17:40Speaker 4: which was a team I wanted if they were going
- 1:17:42Speaker 4: to trade down. Three to eight was where I was
- 1:17:44Speaker 4: thinking was the sweet spot. Even eleven's very far down.
- 1:17:48Speaker 10: I no question, Freddy, this is the Minnesota is the
- 1:17:51Speaker 10: version of the Patriots. Signing Sam Donald does not take
- 1:17:55Speaker 10: them out of the trade up category, right, just like
- 1:17:57Speaker 10: it doesn't take the Patriots out of taking a quarterback
- 1:18:00Speaker 10: at three situation right.
- 1:18:02Speaker 2: Alex says they should The Patriots should draft MHJ. Sign Ridley,
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: take a solid quarterback in the early second round or
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: move up a couple spots.
- 1:18:13Speaker 10: Okay, okay, the only thing I'm not against the plan
- 1:18:16Speaker 10: in general except for the thinking you have the quarterback
- 1:18:19Speaker 10: situation solved with the second round pick. For the three
- 1:18:23Speaker 10: teams in football that have their quarterback situation solved with
- 1:18:27Speaker 10: a you know, post first round quarterback, there's just not
- 1:18:31Speaker 10: that many guys. It's basically Dak and Jalen Hurts, Jalen
- 1:18:36Speaker 10: Hurts and Brock Purdy. Now, and we know Evan hates
- 1:18:38Speaker 10: Brock Purty, so I'm counting him for this exercise.
- 1:18:42Speaker 4: I don't know why. No, I'm just kidding. I the
- 1:18:45Speaker 4: second round quarterbacks are going to be really Pennix maybe
- 1:18:50Speaker 4: if he falls that far, Nicks I think will definitely
- 1:18:53Speaker 4: be there. And then maybe Spencer Rattler is more like
- 1:18:56Speaker 4: a third or fourth round quarterback. And those those are
- 1:18:58Speaker 4: the three guys that have any sort of start. Kid
- 1:19:01Speaker 4: from Tulane at all. Yeah, he was awful at the Senior.
- 1:19:04Speaker 10: Bowl, but I don't care about the Senior Bowl. Did
- 1:19:06Speaker 10: you guys watch him? Like any tape or anything like?
- 1:19:08Speaker 10: The Senior Bowl to me is like a very minor
- 1:19:10Speaker 10: piece of the puzzle. I think the better thing for
- 1:19:12Speaker 10: the Senior Bowl was they talked to the coaches and stuff.
- 1:19:16Speaker 10: They get to sort of know people like what actually
- 1:19:18Speaker 10: happens on the field.
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: To me is well, practices are more important than the game.
- 1:19:22Speaker 10: Yeah, but it's largely irrelevant to me. To me, I
- 1:19:25Speaker 10: mean a lot of people have different opinions, but I
- 1:19:28Speaker 10: just meant as like one of those Day three kind
- 1:19:31Speaker 10: of quarterbacks.
- 1:19:31Speaker 3: As he got anything. I heard some people.
- 1:19:34Speaker 4: Talking about, you know, he's he's a rhythm thrower, like
- 1:19:36Speaker 4: he's an on time passer, a guy that has some accuracy, but.
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: Kind of a mobile pocket down.
- 1:19:42Speaker 4: Yeah. I think I read somewhere he can move around
- 1:19:44Speaker 4: a little bit. I'm trying to think of a good comparison.
- 1:19:46Speaker 4: He's he's not very physically, you know, he doesn't have
- 1:19:50Speaker 4: a great arm.
- 1:19:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:19:50Speaker 10: I will say I've seen Tulane play a handful of
- 1:19:52Speaker 10: times and have not been impressed with him, you know,
- 1:19:54Speaker 10: like he didn't stand out to me. Tulane's one of
- 1:19:58Speaker 10: those teams that tends to be on on the yeah,
- 1:20:01Speaker 10: you know, and like those different windows at different.
- 1:20:04Speaker 3: Times, I was, oh Tulane, you know, and you watch it.
- 1:20:07Speaker 4: I think the biggest thing with him, the reason why
- 1:20:09Speaker 4: he struggled at the Senior Bowl, is that he is
- 1:20:11Speaker 4: a guy that needs to be on time because he
- 1:20:13Speaker 4: doesn't have great arm talent. So in Tulane, when he's
- 1:20:16Speaker 4: in this offense for years, he's he can be on
- 1:20:19Speaker 4: script all the time and it works. But once he
- 1:20:21Speaker 4: got to the Senior Bowl and he was a little tickulate,
- 1:20:24Speaker 4: heretickulate there. That's when he started to struggle. He's your
- 1:20:28Speaker 4: typical fourth round, early day three back, serviceable backup type
- 1:20:34Speaker 4: of quarterback.
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: Ford and Savannah. With the recent success of the Chase
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: Burrow combo, we could get a baby version of this
- 1:20:42Speaker 2: UH with if we drafted Dunze in Pennix. I'd love
- 1:20:47Speaker 2: a quarterback with the third pick. However, if they aren't
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: thrilled with whoever's left, a trade down to get Rome
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: at Dunze and then possibly back up to get Pennix
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: could be the best option overall UH more than the
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: injury history having one of his worst games on the
- 1:21:03Speaker 2: national stages keeping him wildly undervalued when he could end
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: up as the best quarterback in this draft. How much
- 1:21:09Speaker 2: do you all think college chemistry is worth between high
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: draft picks at the quarterback and wide receiver position.
- 1:21:17Speaker 6: A little bit.
- 1:21:17Speaker 8: But I think Dunesday is a beast and he's gonna
- 1:21:20Speaker 8: probably click with just about anybody.
- 1:21:22Speaker 4: It helps you hit the ground running, There's no doubt.
- 1:21:25Speaker 10: About it doesn't hurt he has a rapport with one
- 1:21:27Speaker 10: of his top receivers.
- 1:21:28Speaker 8: I mean, how can how can that be a bad transition?
- 1:21:31Speaker 6: A little bit?
- 1:21:31Speaker 9: Burrow and Chase was that was an impeccable thing for
- 1:21:34Speaker 9: him to be able.
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: To do that.
- 1:21:37Speaker 10: But I think there's just as good a chance of
- 1:21:39Speaker 10: him being the worst quarterback out of the top five too.
- 1:21:42Speaker 3: Like I don't like.
- 1:21:44Speaker 10: You can talk yourself into whoever, whoever they take, Tom
- 1:21:47Speaker 10: telling you right now when a forecast, whatever they take,
- 1:21:50Speaker 10: is going to be the guy everybody talks themselves into
- 1:21:52Speaker 10: Pennex A low floor, high ceiling guy.
- 1:21:55Speaker 4: Uh. I would say he's more of a floor guy.
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: I think he's a high floor Yeah, Oh you think
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: he's a high floor. Well, I thought he could be
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: a boomer bust guy.
- 1:22:04Speaker 10: Well, I think the email you're talking about playing, if
- 1:22:07Speaker 10: he's healthy, I think he will not be a bust.
- 1:22:10Speaker 4: He's he had. His on field concern is pressure. You know,
- 1:22:14Speaker 4: he's not very mobile, he's not very he doesn't have
- 1:22:16Speaker 4: great es capability, and he doesn't throw well off platform.
- 1:22:20Speaker 10: So that's why I I sort of balked it when
- 1:22:22Speaker 10: you said, like I like the try hard guys, Like,
- 1:22:25Speaker 10: it's not about try hard, it's about having a skill
- 1:22:27Speaker 10: set that's like base, like reach, the defense as well,
- 1:22:32Speaker 10: good arm, throws accurately, like he has like this face
- 1:22:35Speaker 10: set of skills. Like that's not a try hard like J. J.
- 1:22:39Speaker 10: McCarthy's not a try.
- 1:22:40Speaker 4: Hard if he has a clean if Michael Pennix from
- 1:22:44Speaker 4: a clean pocket is probably one of the best quarterbacks
- 1:22:46Speaker 4: in this class. The second that you start to add
- 1:22:49Speaker 4: the stuff around him, that's when it gets a little.
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: That's Ben a try hard guy.
- 1:22:53Speaker 3: He's just not very good.
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: Who's a try hard guyard.
- 1:22:57Speaker 10: And he's one of the most athletic guys that you'll
- 1:23:01Speaker 10: he's a try hard I'm gonna run around and be bamby.
- 1:23:07Speaker 3: I'm gonna really do what I'm gay.
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: All right, looking forward to that tomorrow. We'll see you Thursday.
