- Lucas: Ciao Luna, ready for another episode of Learn Italian with Fexingo? Luna: Ciao Lucas! Yes, I'm ready. What are we learning today? Lucas: Today we're going to a pharmacy. It's a super useful scenario when you're traveling in Italy. Luna: Oh, that's a good one. I remember in Episode 36 we learned about body pain at the doctor's. This feels like a natural next step. Lucas: Exactly. So when you walk into a pharmacy, the first thing you might say is 'Ho bisogno di...' which means 'I need...'. Luna: Ho bisogno di... I need... Lucas: Perfect. Now let's think of things you might need. For example, 'compresse' are tablets or pills. Luna: Compresse. Tablets. Got it. Lucas: And if you have a cut, you might ask for a 'cerotto' — a band-aid or plaster. Luna: Cerotto. That sounds like 'cerotto'... easy to remember. Lucas: Another common one is 'sciroppo' for cough syrup. Luna: Sciroppo. Syrup. Okay. Lucas: And if you have a sore throat, you can say 'Ho mal di gola'. Luna: Ho mal di gola. I have a sore throat. We learned 'Ho mal di...' before, right? Lucas: Yes, from Episode 36. 'Ho mal di testa', 'Ho mal di pancia'. Now add 'gola' — throat. And finally, when you're ready to pay, you ask 'Quanto costa?' — How much does it cost? Luna: Quanto costa? We've used that before too, at the café. Lucas: Right. So let's practice a little scene. You walk into a pharmacy and say...? Luna: Ho bisogno di cerotto. Lucas: Great! Now imagine you have a sore throat. What do you say? Luna: Ho mal di gola. Ho bisogno di sciroppo. Lucas: Excellent. And then the pharmacist tells you the price. You ask...? Luna: Quanto costa? Lucas: Perfect. Let's repeat all the phrases one more time. 'Ho bisogno di...' Luna: Ho bisogno di... Lucas: Compresse. Luna: Compresse. Lucas: Cerotto. Luna: Cerotto. Lucas: Sciroppo. Luna: Sciroppo. Lucas: Ho mal di gola. Luna: Ho mal di gola. Lucas: Quanto costa? Luna: Quanto costa? Lucas: Wonderful. Now you're ready for any Italian pharmacy. Practice these phrases, and next time you listen, we'll visit a new place. Grazie per l'ascolto, and see you next time on Learn Italian with Fexingo! Luna: Ciao ciao!
