- 0:00Speaker 1: You know, I was just thinking about encouragement and the
- 0:09Speaker 1: things that have happened in my life to greatly encourage me.
- 0:15Speaker 1: And kind of, like I said, this morning, you know,
- 0:17Speaker 1: I kind of woke up this morning. I just wasn't
- 0:19Speaker 1: myself this morning. I wasn't my usual and I found
- 0:24Speaker 1: myself thinking, you know, some thoughts that I shouldn't have
- 0:27Speaker 1: allowed to get into my head.
- 0:30Speaker 2: But I quickly reversed that. And I'm gonna tell you
- 0:33Speaker 2: something that I.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Do because I was taught a long time ago that
- 0:39Speaker 1: your feelings are a barometer of your thoughts. Your feelings
- 0:45Speaker 1: are a barometer of your thoughts, and what that simply
- 0:47Speaker 1: means is what your feeling is actually like just a
- 0:52Speaker 1: thermometer of what you've been thinking over the past twenty
- 0:57Speaker 1: thirty minutes.
- 0:59Speaker 2: If you think, if you catch.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Yourself feeling out of sorts or getting to a little funk,
- 1:05Speaker 1: or feeling a little depressed, all you have to do
- 1:08Speaker 1: is trace back what you've been thinking for the past
- 1:11Speaker 1: fifteen to thirty minutes, because all your feelings are are
- 1:17Speaker 1: simply a barometer, or however you want to look at it.
- 1:21Speaker 1: You might want to say a thermometer, so you can
- 1:23Speaker 1: say it tells the temperature of what you've been thinking.
- 1:27Speaker 1: And so I had to go back and do that.
- 1:29Speaker 1: And I realized the reason I kind of woke up
- 1:33Speaker 1: on the wrong side of the bed was because I.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Was laying at thinking some negative thoughts.
- 1:39Speaker 1: I was thinking about all the stuff I had to do,
- 1:42Speaker 1: all the stuff I needed to accomplish, and then I
- 1:46Speaker 1: was realizing that there was no way I was gonna
- 1:50Speaker 1: get it all done today, no matter how hard I try.
- 1:55Speaker 1: And as I was sitting there man beating myself up
- 1:58Speaker 1: for knowing all that I had had to do and
- 2:01Speaker 1: knowing I didn't have enough time in the day to
- 2:03Speaker 1: get it done, I started feeling sort of out of
- 2:06Speaker 1: sorts and like, man, this is I want this to
- 2:09Speaker 1: move blah blah blah blah blah. Well, I had to
- 2:11Speaker 1: catch myself because I had to be reminded of the
- 2:14Speaker 1: Lord's prayer, the line that says, give us this day
- 2:17Speaker 1: our daily bread, which God has mentally equipped us to
- 2:22Speaker 1: handle today. God didn't set our brain up to handle tomorrow.
- 2:27Speaker 1: To worry about it anyway. You can think about it
- 2:29Speaker 1: and aspire about it and dream about it, but you're
- 2:32Speaker 1: surely not to worry about it.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Because there's nothing you can do about it. But I
- 2:37Speaker 2: was sitting.
- 2:38Speaker 1: About worrying about today and all I had to do,
- 2:40Speaker 1: and how I was gonna fit it any day, and
- 2:42Speaker 1: knowing I couldn't, and how I was gonna affect my tomorrow.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Bad mistake, Steve Harvey, and you know better. And so
- 2:48Speaker 1: I'm trying to help you all understand that when you
- 2:51Speaker 1: get into that funk like that, know better, like I
- 2:54Speaker 1: had to know better. God has equipped us to handle today.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Give us this day our daily bread. You don't want
- 3:00Speaker 1: you tripping on what that already happened in the past.
- 3:02Speaker 1: You can't go back, you don't get do overs. And
- 3:05Speaker 1: ain't no need to worry about the future because you
- 3:07Speaker 1: have no control over it. So I had to get
- 3:10Speaker 1: focused and I had to think about, Wow, all I
- 3:15Speaker 1: need is today. I need enough to make it today.
- 3:22Speaker 1: And so as I was sitting there shaving, I was
- 3:24Speaker 1: sitting a bit thinking. I said, Wow, I'm up, I
- 3:26Speaker 1: have a measure of health. I'm shaving, I'm actually okay,
- 3:30Speaker 1: I'm order some room service. I'm okay. I get to
- 3:35Speaker 1: go to work today. That's a blessing. Not I gotta
- 3:39Speaker 1: go to work. I get to go to work today,
- 3:42Speaker 1: because that's a blessing.
- 3:45Speaker 2: It's a blessing to have that opportunity.
- 3:47Speaker 1: It's people looking for a job today wishing they would
- 3:50Speaker 1: work anywhere, and I just need to get a check
- 3:51Speaker 1: coming in here.
- 3:53Speaker 2: I actually get to go to work to a job
- 3:55Speaker 2: I enjoy. Steve Harvey, are you kidding me?
- 4:01Speaker 1: You got the nerve to wake up on the wrong
- 4:04Speaker 1: side of the bed because you was worrying about what
- 4:07Speaker 1: you might not accomplish. Have you taken a moment, sir,
- 4:12Speaker 1: to just realize what you have? That my children are healthy,
- 4:18Speaker 1: that they all still with me, That I got loving family.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Oh they had they dysfunctional moments. Oh you can believe
- 4:28Speaker 1: that by at the end of the day. I bet
- 4:31Speaker 1: they love each other. Hey man, you have options. Hey man,
- 4:39Speaker 1: You're able to walk, to see, to talk, to think,
- 4:42Speaker 1: to rhyme, to reason. It's just so many little things.
- 4:47Speaker 1: I'm looking out the window right now, and I'm realizing
- 4:52Speaker 1: the sun is up and I'm free while I can
- 4:55Speaker 1: go out.
- 4:55Speaker 2: There and enjoy it. Man, get out of here.
- 4:59Speaker 1: You don't have You have, the right, sir, to wake
- 5:02Speaker 1: up on the wrong side of the bed when the
- 5:05Speaker 1: joy and the gratitude ought to be that you woke
- 5:08Speaker 1: up on the bed?
- 5:09Speaker 2: How about that?
- 5:10Speaker 1: Because don't you remember, Steve Harvey, when you didn't have
- 5:13Speaker 1: no bed partner? Now you're worried about getting up on
- 5:16Speaker 1: the wrong side, how about them three years when you
- 5:19Speaker 1: ain't had no bed?
- 5:21Speaker 2: What about that? Are you kidding me? Man?
- 5:24Speaker 1: So you're gonna lay up here stuck on stupid because
- 5:26Speaker 1: you're on the wrong side of the bed. You frustrated
- 5:29Speaker 1: you ain't got enough time in the day. But did
- 5:31Speaker 1: you ever really think about why you don't have enough
- 5:33Speaker 1: time in the day because you got stuff to do.
- 5:36Speaker 1: You know why you got stuff to do? Because God
- 5:38Speaker 1: created you to be busy. You know why he created
- 5:40Speaker 1: you to be busy so you can have the life
- 5:42Speaker 1: you ask for. You can't complain about what's all on
- 5:46Speaker 1: your plate when your whole goal was to eat. Sitting
- 5:51Speaker 1: up in here tripping about how much is on my plate?
- 5:55Speaker 1: When my whole goal was to eat. Now he got
- 5:59Speaker 1: plenty on the way and you tripping about that? Are
- 6:02Speaker 1: you stupid? Steve Harvey? I don't think so. So I
- 6:07Speaker 1: pulled my big nip wide nose self together and focused
- 6:13Speaker 1: and got grateful and got my day started and Now
- 6:16Speaker 1: as I say goodbye to y'all this morning, I get
- 6:19Speaker 1: to go to work and do it all over again.
