Transcript
- 0:03SPEAKER_00: Hello everyone.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: Welcome back again to another episode of Faith Builders.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: I'm Mickey, your host, and with me I have Trisha, my co-host, and we want to help Christians and believers build their faith.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: Not only Christians and believers, but all people.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: I think that faith um is something that we need to focus in on and look at and work on.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: And um I myself personally have a desire in building my faith because when we build our faith, we end up walking closer with the Lord.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: And I think having an intimate personal relationship with God is so important.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: And today we are going to be talking about prayer.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: So I want to say hello to Trish this corny, and then we're gonna d jump right in and and give you all a great lesson today.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: So how are you doing today, Trish?
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: I'm doing good.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: I'm excited to get this going.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: Um did you have a nice Thanksgiving holiday, I hope?
- 0:54SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, we did.
- 0:55SPEAKER_02: We did worship.
- 0:56SPEAKER_02: Uh my husband sang some songs with family, and it was great.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: So yeah, we had a big family.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: We had a we had both of our rooms full of tables and chairs and all of that.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: But um anyway, um, I'm excited about today's topic, talking about prayer because prayer is so uh important.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: It is our connection, and I call it my lifeline to Jesus.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: Like I talk to God all the time, like he's my best friend, like he's in the same room with me always.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: I feel like no matter what room I go into, where I'm at, whatever situation I'm in, I at any moment in time I can just start talking to God.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: And um, and sometimes people be like, Who are you talking to?
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: I'm like, I'm talking to God.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: Who are you talking to?
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: You know?
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: So I think it's important that we talk about prayer and we get an understanding because sometimes I think with prayer, we forget what it is that we're supposed to be doing and what it what it represents and what it means, and how important the fervent prayer is.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: And so I want to talk about, I want to open up with Matthew um um chapter six.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: So Matthew's in the New Testament, we're gonna look at um chapter six and verse, I mean, excuse me.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, chapter six and verse seven.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: And what it says is, but when we pray, use not vain repetitions as the heathen do, for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: I I think just in that scripture alone, it says a lot.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: It talks about how people over talk or overthink things.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: I think sometimes when we think about prayer, we we think too much about it.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: Like we have to give God, like we have to take all of our everything and download all of it onto him before we think that he understands.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: But what's funny about God is he he already understands everything before we even go to him in prayer.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: He just wants that relationship with us, he wants us to come to him and um have conversation with him, pour out our thoughts to him, pour out our hearts, our mind, our soul to him, whatever that is.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: It could be a situation, it could be um a joyful moment, it could be, it doesn't even have to be uh, you know, just putting in that prayer request of something that we need.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: Um it could be, you know, having a great day.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: Lord, I just want to say thank you for blessing me today.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: I just you know, the the strength and the joy of the Lord is is something that we should be sharing that with God as much as we are sharing all of the other things that we share.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: And I I think it's funny when we talk about vain repetitions because they also call it babbling.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: You know, remember the Tower of Babel?
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: I mean, God tore that down and He separated and and we have all of these nations because of babbling.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: And so if we think about that as vain repetitions being considered babbling, we need to be mindful how we're actually having conversation with God.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: Do we want it to be effective or do we want God just to be sitting there listening to us babble?
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: And I'm not saying that we can't ever talk to God, we can tell God whatever we want, but I know for a fact, um, like I was sharing with you earlier, like sometimes when we sit down at the dinner table, it's the same prayer.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: Thank you, Lord, for this food, bless the hands I prepared it, let this food nourish and strengthen us.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: And some of those are common things, common sense things for what you're praying over and for.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: It makes sense to say, you know, hey, thank you, Lord, for this food.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: Um but when you're praying to him on a personal level, it needs to not be a repetitious prayer.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: He wants you to have an actual conversation with him.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: Kind of like when I call you or you call me or we call our friends, and we don't get on the phone and and repeat exactly what we said the last conversation.
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: We talk about, hey, what's up, what's going on, and and hey, oh, you know, I'm having a bad day, or hey, I'm having a great day, or or this just happened, and oh man, you know, let's work through this.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: That's how God is.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: He wants us to have that connection.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: And I know today that you have um um um some really good scripture that actually brings so much power just to a person's prayer life.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: And I think that we need to hear this because um often I think that we miss our connection with God because we don't have the prayer life of of who you're gonna talk about today.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna let you share that.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: I don't wanna I don't wanna I don't wanna do the spoiler alert on anybody, but I think honestly there's so much power in that and there's a lesson in there to teach us, you know, the way that we really should be praying.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: And like you said, like get on your face.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: I mean, how often do we get on our face and burger cry and and pour out our hearts to God and have actual prayer with Him?
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: Because sometimes when we're in those moments, like you said, isn't that when Jesus meets you?
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: Jesus shows up.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: So we we want to do that.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: So I'm I'm excited for you to take off with this lesson, and I'm gonna pass the baton to you so you can share with our listeners um what it is you want to get out there today.
- 6:00SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 6:01SPEAKER_02: I just want to start with a minute, a second of prayer, even that's just a second.
- 6:05SPEAKER_02: Dear Lord Jesus, I just um thank you that we have this opportunity to um build our faith.
- 6:11SPEAKER_02: And Lord, let the words that the scriptures that you've shown me and the things that you want me to say be said, and things that you don't want me to say not be said.
- 6:24SPEAKER_02: Um I thank you in Jesus' name, amen.
- 6:28SPEAKER_02: It's just a short prayer because I just felt like I needed to, you know, it needs to come from him and not from me.
- 6:35SPEAKER_02: And um sometimes, you know, my mind can be all you know um not crazy, but you know, like thinking too much get distracted, yeah.
- 6:46SPEAKER_02: And so um I was thinking about Nehemiah and um how he prayed, and it's in Nehemiah chapter one, and um he says here that um there was a certain group of people who said something to him.
- 7:04SPEAKER_02: Uh these men had said something, and they said to me, the remnant there in the province who had survived the exile is in great trouble and shame.
- 7:16SPEAKER_02: So when he heard that, it was um the walls of the Jerusalem broke down and the gates were destroyed by fire.
- 7:25SPEAKER_02: So if you know anything about Nehemiah, he's the one who rebuilt the wall and all that stuff.
- 7:30SPEAKER_02: So you really have to read, you know, everything he did on that.
- 7:34SPEAKER_02: But his prayer was um he says, As soon as I heard these words, I sat down and I wept and I mourned for days.
- 7:44SPEAKER_02: And I continued fasting and praying for the God of heaven, and I said, Oh Lord of heaven, the great and awesome God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commands, let your ear be attentive, let your eyes be opened to hear the prayer of your servant, that now uh that I now pray before you the day and night for the people of Israel and your servants, confessing the sins of the people of Israel, which we have sinned against you, even I and my father's house have sinned.
- 8:24SPEAKER_02: So, you know, like he's confessing the sins of the people, and he's saying, even I and my father's house have sinned.
- 8:32SPEAKER_02: So he's talking about his father's before.
- 8:36SPEAKER_02: So he's covering it all, he's covering all the prayer, and he's grieved, he's mourning, he's you know, and a lot of there's a lot of scriptures throughout the Bible where they tear their robes, you know, like there's Job.
- 8:51SPEAKER_02: Um, anyway, this is Nehemiah chapter one, verses four through six, just putting that out there that in case you want to go back and read it yourself.
- 9:00SPEAKER_02: Um, and uh, you know, I I remember many times where I have been in like, you know, my I was on the phone with my mom and she she was like but when she was alive, and she she said, Oh my goodness, there's a wreck happening, it's in front of us.
- 9:22SPEAKER_02: And I was in the pet store with my friend, and all of a sudden I stopped in the middle of the store and I said, Oh God, that's how I said, you know, and I said, Oh God, help my mom, and I don't know what to pray for, you know.
- 9:38SPEAKER_02: And so me and my friend Um Shama, we started praying for my mom and my sister and my my dad.
- 9:46SPEAKER_02: And it was a the this was crazy because this was a short second prayer, but I said, Oh God, you know, and when I say oh God, I'm not cursing him, I'm saying, oh God, I need you right now, you know, and I noticed in a lot of times they say that here, oh Lord, God of heaven, you know, and I like the way he said it, you know, oh Lord, God of heaven, you know, I should probably say it more like that, like I need you.
- 10:15SPEAKER_02: And you know, we do need those desperate prayers.
- 10:18SPEAKER_02: Um, and God, He, He feels your heart, you know, and um and I hear you, you know, he does hear you, he does see you, hear me, Lord, see me, Lord, see what I'm going through right now.
- 10:32SPEAKER_02: And this this was a complete miracle.
- 10:34SPEAKER_02: My my mom, my sister, and my dad were not touched.
- 10:39SPEAKER_02: Every single car around them was crushed.
- 10:44SPEAKER_02: And they were in the middle of all this stuff going around them, and nothing touched them at all.
- 10:51SPEAKER_02: Not a nick on the car, nothing.
- 10:53SPEAKER_02: And it was like, wow, you know, and then my mom called, I was like, my mom's not calling me, you know.
- 10:59SPEAKER_02: I was so like desperate, you know, and but we we should, we should be on our faces, we should be, you know, repenting.
- 11:08SPEAKER_02: And I remember a time where I truly repented, and um it was uh the Lord telling me to get on my knees, you know, and there they were reading the scripture in Revelation, and I don't know the address right now.
- 11:25SPEAKER_02: It I believe it's Revelation 3.
- 11:27SPEAKER_02: It says, Behold, I stand at the door and I knock.
- 11:30SPEAKER_02: And it's about yeah, it's about the door, and I I correlate that with the door of my heart.
- 11:35SPEAKER_02: I have the key, I can unlock it at any time.
- 11:37SPEAKER_02: There's also, I've been thinking lately, the mind.
- 11:41SPEAKER_02: We can shut the door of our mind too, or we can open it.
- 11:44SPEAKER_02: We can open it to anything, anything that's not good, anything that is good.
- 11:49SPEAKER_02: So um, I just have this like supernatural experience where it's like, get on your knees, you know, and it was like a really soft, get on your knees, you know, you know, like I was like, Who's talking to me?
- 12:07SPEAKER_02: You know, and I heard it three times, and after the third time, you know how even God talks to a donkey and the donkey moves.
- 12:15SPEAKER_02: I felt like that.
- 12:17SPEAKER_02: I felt like a donkey going up to the altar, you know what I mean?
- 12:21SPEAKER_02: Like I was I was moving without thinking, and it was the it was like the pulling of the Holy Spirit telling me I needed to do this now.
- 12:32SPEAKER_02: And look at what Nehemiah did.
- 12:33SPEAKER_02: He did the same, you know, he repented and he repented for the people.
- 12:38SPEAKER_02: And my knees were so wobbly and weak that I couldn't like stand, and I went down on my face.
- 12:44SPEAKER_02: Like I hit my knees, and as soon as I hit my knees, I went and I've never done that again.
- 12:49SPEAKER_02: That was the only one time I've done that, and I have this supernatural experience where the love of God just um infilled into side of me, like it went into my heart, and I felt his presence, and I couldn't move.
- 13:04SPEAKER_02: I was just prostrate out, laying there, and I was like, I really felt like he entered into my heart, you know, that Jesus entered into my heart.
- 13:15SPEAKER_02: And ever since then, I've been super happy about Jesus, you know, like he is with me all the time.
- 13:23SPEAKER_02: It says, I will never leave you and I will never forsake you.
- 13:27SPEAKER_02: Um, he's my everything, you know, and little secret things I say to myself, or little things that I know I need, and I don't even say to anybody, and God knows I need it, and he sends groceries at my door, or he, you know, he does these little things, and then even a friend will message me and say, What do you need prayer for today?
- 13:50SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, How do you know?
- 13:52SPEAKER_02: You know, obviously God was talking to my friend too, and so he does that, you know, and there's a scripture, I call it my cheat scripture, but it's really not, it's very powerful.
- 14:04SPEAKER_02: Um, it's in Romans um chapter 8, and it says here, and if you go, if you start at verse 26, I'm gonna read this.
- 14:17SPEAKER_02: It says, likewise, the spirit helps us in our weakness.
- 14:22SPEAKER_02: For we do not know what to pray for, pray as we ought, but the spirit himself intercedes with groanings too deep for words.
- 14:30SPEAKER_02: And he who searches the heart knows what is in the mind of the spirit, because the spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
- 14:42SPEAKER_02: Okay, and we know that for those who love God, all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose, for those whom he foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed into the image of his son into in the order that he might be the firstborn amongst brothers, and that those he predestined, he also called, and those he called, he also justified, and those whom he justified, he also glorified.
- 15:16SPEAKER_02: So, and then I'll go to 31 because I love this one.
- 15:21SPEAKER_02: What then shall we say to things?
- 15:24SPEAKER_02: If God is for us, who can be against us?
- 15:29SPEAKER_02: He did not spare his own son, but gave him up for all.
- 15:33SPEAKER_02: How will he not also with him graciously give us all things?
- 15:40SPEAKER_02: Who call um who shall bring any charge against God's elect?
- 15:46SPEAKER_02: It is God who justifies.
- 15:49SPEAKER_02: Who is it to condemn?
- 15:50SPEAKER_02: Jesus Christ is the one who died more than that who was raised, who is at the right hand of God and who indeed is interceding for us.
- 16:04SPEAKER_02: Who shall separate us from the love of God shall tribulation or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword, as it is written, for your sake we are being killed all day long, we are regarded as sheep to a slaughter.
- 16:19SPEAKER_02: But no, in all things we are more than conquerors for those who love for through him who loved us.
- 16:29SPEAKER_02: For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come in the powers, nor height, nor depth, depth, depth, uh, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
- 16:48SPEAKER_02: So I I went ahead and read all the way down to 39 because I just really love, you know, Romans 8.
- 16:56SPEAKER_02: Romans 8 is where I camp out a lot.
- 16:59SPEAKER_02: And um I'm like, Lord, intercede for me, you know, and he already did in many of the scriptures.
- 17:08SPEAKER_02: Um, John 17 talks about how he intercedes for us.
- 17:12SPEAKER_02: Um, there's so many scriptures about prayer, and but really it's about our heart.
- 17:19SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, open the door to your heart, let him in, let him in, let us have a relationship with him, let's talk to him, you know, as if like, hey, my best friend, I need a prayer.
- 17:32SPEAKER_02: And the the biggest best friend you can have is Jesus, you know, and you know, I think about this, you know, nobody loves us more than he does, really.
- 17:42SPEAKER_02: You know, we have family, we have uh so many people in our lives have let us down.
- 17:48SPEAKER_02: And you know what, it's not really their fault that they do that because we are all sinners, we all fall short of the glory of God.
- 17:56SPEAKER_02: Our righteousness is like filthy rags to God, and He is the only one that is righteous and perfect.
- 18:04SPEAKER_02: Um, and the fulfillment of Christ fills us.
- 18:10SPEAKER_02: And I believe that day that I I prayed, and when I was down on there on my face, I was also saying, I'm sorry I'm sorry, I'm so sorry for my sin.
- 18:19SPEAKER_02: I I was I just kept saying, sorry, God, sorry, and I couldn't hardly get anything out except for sorry, you know, and you know, he's looking for a true repentant heart.
- 18:30SPEAKER_02: We we can go through the motions and be like, oh yeah, you know, I I accept Jesus, I'm praying, I'm you know, do these, and and what what's hard is sometimes people start real strong, and then it's like the parable of the seed, you know, and they start real strong, but the roots aren't good enough, you know, deep enough, and then they fall away.
- 18:55SPEAKER_02: And they they oh, I tried it, you know.
- 18:58SPEAKER_02: I had you know, someone I really love tell me why I tried it, it's not for me.
- 19:03SPEAKER_02: My prayers were never answered.
- 19:05SPEAKER_02: God doesn't answer my prayers.
- 19:07SPEAKER_02: I'm I'm gonna tell you, I'm gonna testify today that I've been praying for 23 years, and a 23-year prayer just got answered for somebody, and so it's not in our timing or our will.
- 19:21SPEAKER_02: And God gives free will to those people you are praying for, he gives you free will, and um he lets you choose him or not.
- 19:31SPEAKER_02: And um we should, you know, a dear friend of mine said we should put our fruit first fruit forward, you know, our best fruit, our best, give him our best, you know.
- 19:43SPEAKER_02: We don't want to give him our side seconds, you know.
- 19:46SPEAKER_02: Okay, I ate my meal, here's leftovers.
- 19:50SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 19:51SPEAKER_02: So so we really need to give him our whole heart because he's the only one that can fix our heart, and he's the only one that can repair it.
- 20:00SPEAKER_02: And he it says he is in Isaiah 58, it says he is the repairer of the breach, he goes into the breach places of the heart like a real father does, and a real father, you know.
- 20:14SPEAKER_02: I have a friend whose son was in an accident, and you know, everyone's been praying for him, and he's a real walking miracle.
- 20:23SPEAKER_02: And um, the way he's holding his son's hand, and the way the the surgeon is actually praying over him, this the the doctor was praying over him.
- 20:35SPEAKER_02: It looked like a picture of the father, the son, and the holy spirit all in unity and praying.
- 20:41SPEAKER_02: And it was just the it was just a beautiful picture of who God is, you know, and a father's heart.
- 20:50SPEAKER_02: God the father loved his son Jesus who died on the cross for us.
- 20:55SPEAKER_02: He loved him.
- 20:56SPEAKER_02: And Jesus even prayed for us on the cross.
- 21:00SPEAKER_02: He said, Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.
- 21:05SPEAKER_02: Forgive them for they know not we're so selfish, and and me, myself, and I all the time.
- 21:10SPEAKER_02: We we don't have a father's heart.
- 21:13SPEAKER_02: And and you know, we should have a father's heart.
- 21:16SPEAKER_02: You know, I'm not a dad, I'm a I'm a I'm a mom, um, but I should have a mother's heart.
- 21:22SPEAKER_02: But the fat I pray, God, give me a father's heart for your people, because you know, men are kind of lucky because they get to be a dad sometimes, but sometimes they don't.
- 21:35SPEAKER_02: But to have a father's heart and be holding your son's hand, and and you know, but how hard it was for God to let that happen to Jesus so that he can love us and be saved because Jesus loved us so much, you know, and he's the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit all in one.
- 21:54SPEAKER_02: And I I'm I'm in awe and in reverence of the Lord, you know.
- 22:00SPEAKER_02: And you know, you don't just try out Jesus.
- 22:03SPEAKER_02: You don't just try it out.
- 22:05SPEAKER_02: It's a true relationship.
- 22:08SPEAKER_02: You, you know, all the intelligence in the world can't get you to that place.
- 22:15SPEAKER_02: It's it's a heart posture.
- 22:18SPEAKER_02: It's like, here's my heart, Lord.
- 22:21SPEAKER_02: And then is my heart surrendered?
- 22:24SPEAKER_02: Is my heart kneeling?
- 22:26SPEAKER_02: Is my heart prostrate before you?
- 22:29SPEAKER_02: I might not be on the ground, but is my heart?
- 22:32SPEAKER_02: Is my heart prostrate towards you?
- 22:34SPEAKER_02: And if we have a prostrated heart towards the Lord and open it, you know, and open it to Him, then, you know, we anything could happen, you know.
- 22:48SPEAKER_02: I've had prayers that were answered like that, and I've had prayers that took 23 years.
- 22:54SPEAKER_02: I have prayers still today that have never been answered, and I'm still praying, God, get a hold of those people.
- 23:00SPEAKER_02: I love them so much.
- 23:02SPEAKER_02: And um, but you love them more than I do, you know, and He does.
- 23:09SPEAKER_02: He does.
- 23:10SPEAKER_02: And he's just, you know, he's a gentleman.
- 23:12SPEAKER_02: He's not gonna force his way in.
- 23:14SPEAKER_02: And I know some of us are messed up, and we're we're not we're not God.
- 23:19SPEAKER_02: And a lot of people look at Christians as if we if they, oh, you're doing that.
- 23:23SPEAKER_02: Okay, well, I'm not gonna follow that.
- 23:25SPEAKER_02: No, you go to the Bible for yourself, you read the word for yourself, you prostrate your heart before him because he's a holy God.
- 23:34SPEAKER_02: He's holy, he's perfect.
- 23:37SPEAKER_02: Oh, I should have brought this, maybe I'll do it next time.
- 23:40SPEAKER_02: But I have this little experiment I did, I might do it, where there's sin, and then you put it in anyway, and that's anyway, and how God clears it.
- 23:49SPEAKER_02: Like if you take you know, water, uh colored water, and then you pour in Jesus and the Holy Spirit, he cleans it all up.
- 24:00SPEAKER_02: He is the fulfillment of what clears us and gets us to that prostrated place of weird dependence on him.
- 24:09SPEAKER_02: I mean, think about Jonah who got thrown overboard, you know, like he's like, it's all my fault, just throw me overboard, you know.
- 24:16SPEAKER_02: Um and then when when he finally got to the place, he he wasn't being obedient.
- 24:21SPEAKER_02: And I think being obedient is another thing.
- 24:24SPEAKER_02: Obedience is greater than sacrifice.
- 24:26SPEAKER_02: And when he was obedient, he only said like three words, you know, or four or something, I can't remember exactly.
- 24:33SPEAKER_02: But when he said it, everybody was going in sackcloth and ashes and all this stuff, you know, and and and the weight of sin is death, the weight of it.
- 24:46SPEAKER_02: Okay, we know all these things, yet we still do these things, but yet we need to repent from them.
- 24:55SPEAKER_02: We need to pray, we need to pray to God, God help me in my distress.
- 24:59SPEAKER_02: You know, Job he shaved his head and ripped his beard and said, Naked I come, naked I go, but blessed be the name of the Lord.
- 25:10SPEAKER_02: You know, and that to me is like, my goodness, one day God it says, God is gonna wipe away your tears, all of them, and we're not gonna cry no more.
- 25:21SPEAKER_02: And you know, I don't know about you, but I've been a crybaby a lot throughout my life.
- 25:27SPEAKER_02: And I've even told God, you know, I'm sure there's a lake in heaven with waterfalls with my name on it, you know.
- 25:34SPEAKER_02: But but now that I've gotten older, I don't cry as much.
- 25:37SPEAKER_02: But, you know, yeah, so prayer, heart posture towards God, you know, I know we come to Him in our distresses, but we should also praise Him and do our daily morning prayers with meaning and with thought and purposeful words, you know, not just like, oh yeah, you know, okay, yeah.
- 26:01SPEAKER_02: Now I lay me down to sleep, you know.
- 26:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you know, or rub a dub dub, thank you, God for the grub, you know, like it's like what?
- 26:12SPEAKER_02: Oh, you're trying to be silly, you know, but yeah, so so you should you'd be like, God, thank you for this food.
- 26:19SPEAKER_02: Bless it to my body who is failing every day, you know.
- 26:23SPEAKER_02: Um it's definitely flawed.
- 26:26SPEAKER_02: Help these for me, it's like help the calories not sink in too uh too much.
- 26:32SPEAKER_02: But but you know, um we we just we just thank him.
- 26:38SPEAKER_02: We're we gotta be thankful too.
- 26:40SPEAKER_02: And uh oh, something just came to my mind.
- 26:44SPEAKER_02: It's Philippians chapter four.
- 26:46SPEAKER_02: It says, Don't here's another thing.
- 26:49SPEAKER_02: A lot of times we're anxious about stuff.
- 26:51SPEAKER_02: And um, there was one time where I was having an anxiety attack, and I used to get them all the time.
- 26:57SPEAKER_02: And um I I was stuck in the bathtub with an anxiety attack, and I thought, I'm gonna drown, and there's nobody here.
- 27:05SPEAKER_02: So I clenched on to the sides of the tub and I was shaking, and I was like trying to breathe, you know, and and I couldn't get out on my own, and I was there for a long time, and finally it it rested out.
- 27:18SPEAKER_02: It takes a while, it it kind of you have to watch your breathing and all that stuff.
- 27:23SPEAKER_02: So I get out and um I was like, I grabbed my Bible and I put it on my head.
- 27:30SPEAKER_02: I said, God help me.
- 27:32SPEAKER_02: You know, it was like it was like this, Lord, take me to where you want to take me.
- 27:37SPEAKER_02: And I went like this, boom, and I opened it.
- 27:40SPEAKER_02: And um the first and I was new, you know, I was a baby Christian, and um it said, now I the it says, um, do not be anxious for anything with prayer and petition and thanksgiving.
- 27:51SPEAKER_02: Present all your requests to God, peace of God be with you.
- 27:54SPEAKER_02: Think on what is true, lovely, beautiful, and praiseworthy.
- 27:57SPEAKER_02: Think on these things.
- 27:58SPEAKER_02: Anyway, I I didn't say it probably exactly right.
- 28:02SPEAKER_02: I know I didn't, but to me, that's where I go is that, and you know what's crazy?
- 28:09SPEAKER_02: I haven't had an anxiety attack like that since.
- 28:15SPEAKER_02: You know, I had one more, but that was another, that was a very big event, and I just kind of froze in the corner, but it wasn't nearly as bad as that one.
- 28:24SPEAKER_02: And I've and out of 23 years, I had one out of that whole time, and I knew I needed to call on Jesus.
- 28:32SPEAKER_02: And that day that I was having that, I said, Holy Spirit, come in, help me, help me.
- 28:39SPEAKER_02: And I started saying that, and I it just it just kind of left me out, you know, it stopped because I needed his help at that point, and that's another key.
- 28:48SPEAKER_02: You ask the Holy Spirit to help you, you know, ask the Holy Spirit to come in, and we forget that.
- 28:54SPEAKER_02: Like, holy, you know, God, He left the Holy Spirit for us to call on, you know, and it right here in Romans 8, it says it intercedes with words that cannot be expressed, you know, it intercedes for us, and and that's what I need because I'm not the perfect prayer person, you know.
- 29:15SPEAKER_02: I just, you know, say what's on my heart and you know, open my heart to him.
- 29:20SPEAKER_02: And that's probably it for today that I can think of.
- 29:23SPEAKER_00: Um, there's a there's another scripture that I want to bring to the table.
- 29:27SPEAKER_00: Um, and that is 1 Thessalonians 5, and it says, um, to rejoice evermore, pray without ceasing and everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
- 29:42SPEAKER_00: So I love that because even if we do babble, even if we do do repetitious prayer, he wants us just to continue having conversation in prayer.
- 29:52SPEAKER_00: He wants us not to stop, he doesn't want us to put on the brakes um because like like what Paul did, Paul was like, I don't know what to pray.
- 30:00SPEAKER_00: I don't know how to pray, you know, I keep making these same mistakes over and over again.
- 30:04SPEAKER_00: I'm not even sure what to pray at this point, you know?
- 30:07SPEAKER_00: And so it's like God doesn't care what you say, He just wants whatever's on your heart.
- 30:13SPEAKER_00: And we he wants us to pray without ceasing.
- 30:16SPEAKER_00: That means don't don't hold nothing back, don't put the brakes on.
- 30:19SPEAKER_00: Without ceasing means with without withholding something.
- 30:23SPEAKER_00: He wants all of it, all of us, like you said, to surrender your heart.
- 30:27SPEAKER_00: And that's what pray without ceasing means is like full surrender.
- 30:31SPEAKER_00: Not all, I'm only gonna surrender a little bit of me today because I'm not sure, Lord, if you're gonna even listen or answer my prayers.
- 30:37SPEAKER_00: And I think sometimes we don't pray because we didn't have enough faith in our own prayers to God that He would one listen and two answer.
- 30:46SPEAKER_00: And like you said, when people wait and wait and wait and a prayer isn't answered, they get discouraged and um they they don't pray as much because they're like, Well, God's not answering my prayer, so why should I continue to pray?
- 30:58SPEAKER_00: Because we don't understand that it's God's timing.
- 31:01SPEAKER_00: We we think we think our prayers need to be answered right now, right now, right now, right now.
- 31:06SPEAKER_00: Because we live in a world of urgency.
- 31:08SPEAKER_00: Like everything is an urgent matter, it's life or death right now, Lord.
- 31:13SPEAKER_02: You know, it's like the waiting room at the hospital.
- 31:16SPEAKER_02: I need answers now.
- 31:19SPEAKER_00: And we have to remember that, you know, God, God knows really what's best for us more than we know what's best for us.
- 31:26SPEAKER_00: And even for the prayer requests, even if we're praying for someone or something, um, God knows if we even need it or not.
- 31:35SPEAKER_00: He needs, he knows whether it needs to come to pass or not.
- 31:38SPEAKER_00: Some prayers go unanswered because God knows that it's it's irrelevant to what we're asking.
- 31:43SPEAKER_00: Sometimes we ask for ridiculous requests, and God will just be like, you know, I honor your request, but he doesn't have to fulfill it.
- 31:51SPEAKER_00: It's like when your parent asks you what you want for Christmas and you give them the whole, ooh, here's my wish list, and and you don't get it, you don't get everything on your wish list.
- 32:01SPEAKER_00: Um you know, and sometimes you get disappointed because you don't get everything you want.
- 32:06SPEAKER_00: We don't get answers that way.
- 32:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 32:10SPEAKER_00: He gives us what we need, not what we want.
- 32:12SPEAKER_00: And so what we need to pray for with people and for ourselves, it's okay.
- 32:17SPEAKER_00: He doesn't care if we pray for the desires of our heart.
- 32:20SPEAKER_00: He knows we want we like things, we want things, but he also knows what good or bad it can do in our life, too.
- 32:27SPEAKER_00: He knows what destruction can come from it, and he knows what good can come from it.
- 32:31SPEAKER_00: And if you're on a roll, sometimes he can keep you from getting something because he knows it's gonna it's gonna destruct d distract you and destruct you from where he wants to take you.
- 32:41SPEAKER_00: So we have to be mindful and not get angry with God every single time our prayer isn't answered.
- 32:47SPEAKER_00: But we just need to keep on praying, just keep on praying and have faith that God is gonna God is gonna do what he said said he's gonna do, and he's gonna do it the way he wants to do it.
- 32:56SPEAKER_00: You know, he doesn't have to give us he an explanation.
- 32:59SPEAKER_00: He didn't tell Job.
- 33:00SPEAKER_00: He did not tell Job at all why he did what he did.
- 33:03SPEAKER_00: You know, he's a sovereign God, he doesn't have to explain himself to him to anyone, you know.
- 33:08SPEAKER_02: And uh Isaiah 55, his ways are greater and higher than our ways, and he's a teacher too.
- 33:15SPEAKER_02: God, God teaches us all things, he reproofs us, he teaches us.
- 33:19SPEAKER_02: And um, I was when you were talking, the teacher came to my mind that when we're taking a test, the teacher is always silent.
- 33:28SPEAKER_02: Yes, so and there's a prayer right now that I'm like, God, do you want me to do this or not?
- 33:33SPEAKER_02: You're not answering me.
- 33:34SPEAKER_02: And and I it's bothering me a little bit, but it's like, well, I'm obviously in a test right now, so I need to be still, know that he is God, and wait.
- 33:47SPEAKER_02: And that's hard to do.
- 33:49SPEAKER_02: And trust him because he knows the beginning from the end.
- 33:55SPEAKER_00: So I want answers now though, but yeah, with our fleshly tendencies, we we become impatient.
- 34:01SPEAKER_00: We're impatient with creatures of habit and especially in the quick pace world we live in, in the now, you know.
- 34:09SPEAKER_00: Um, and we're also living in the cancel, you know, the cancel society where we cancel everything and everyone out.
- 34:15SPEAKER_00: Because if we don't get what we want, we just cancel it.
- 34:17SPEAKER_00: We don't get what we want right now, we'll even cancel it.
- 34:19SPEAKER_00: Cancel my order then.
- 34:20SPEAKER_00: Just take it away.
- 34:21SPEAKER_00: And and that's that's also a wrong mentality when it comes to prayer, because we don't want to just put in that cancellation, because look at 23 years later, your prayer got answered.
- 34:30SPEAKER_00: What would have happened if you just said, God, forget it, I'm done.
- 34:33SPEAKER_00: I don't, you know, just take that request and tear it up, just forget it, because you're obviously not going to answer it.
- 34:38SPEAKER_00: For one, it's a really bad negative attitude to have, and that's the enemy.
- 34:41SPEAKER_00: The enemy wants us to have negativity towards prayer.
- 34:45SPEAKER_00: That's why we don't pray enough.
- 34:46SPEAKER_00: That's why we don't pray without ceasing.
- 34:48SPEAKER_00: Because the enemy gets in there and says, Oh, well, God's not gonna give you what you want right now, so why bother talking to God?
- 34:55SPEAKER_00: Why don't you just let it go?
- 34:56SPEAKER_00: Just, you know, rip up the request.
- 34:58SPEAKER_00: And God's like, No, it's in like you said, it's in my timing.
- 35:02SPEAKER_00: And so we have to take into consideration all of that when we're praying, that it's not just here, I'm gonna fill out my prayer request and give it to God and be like, okay, I'm waiting, I'm waiting, right?
- 35:14SPEAKER_00: You know, I want my prayer answered right now.
- 35:16SPEAKER_00: Um, because God's gonna be the one to decide whether or not he answers that prayer, whether or not it needs to be answered, whether or not, you know, what time he needs to answer.
- 35:25SPEAKER_00: Sometimes it's instantaneously.
- 35:27SPEAKER_00: I've had situations, and you know this, you know the story, um, where um um I I'm not gonna go into names, where I had a gal that had tried to commit suicide, and um they were gonna fly her to the children's hospital.
- 35:42SPEAKER_00: She had ingested a bunch of pills, and as they're wheeling her out to the helicopter um with my pastor, his wife, the mom, stepdad, the brother, we're all going with her to go out there, and she was in really bad shape.
- 35:55SPEAKER_00: And um the doctor literally said to me, Is there any last words you have to say?
- 36:00SPEAKER_00: And it it it sent me through the roof because he basically said she's gonna die, and I didn't believe it.
- 36:06SPEAKER_00: And and I came in the hallway, and and I've never done this boldly like this before because I'm I'm you know, God will kind of put you in a place where it needs to be, and he'll take you past that scaredness when you when it happens.
- 36:18SPEAKER_00: But he put me in a position to be bold, and I literally spoke out and I looked at the doctor and I said, How dare you speak death into this child?
- 36:26SPEAKER_00: How dare you speak death into her?
- 36:28SPEAKER_00: And I and I I stopped him from pushing the gurney out, and I stopped, I laid hands on her, and I started praying life over her.
- 36:35SPEAKER_00: And I said, I pray nothing but life for her.
- 36:37SPEAKER_00: I pray that she has not one z residual side effect from this medication.
- 36:40SPEAKER_00: She's gonna wake up, she's gonna come out of it like nothing ever happened.
- 36:43SPEAKER_00: And I go, I speak nothing but life through the name, name and blood of Jesus Christ over this child's body.
- 36:48SPEAKER_00: And I was just like, I don't know, God just like spoke, and and I was like, where are these words coming from out of my mouth?
- 36:53SPEAKER_00: Because I don't normally talk like this.
- 36:54SPEAKER_00: And they were just coming out, and Pastor, um, Pastor Mike and Tasha with me, and they put their hands on him and they started praying in agreement.
- 37:00SPEAKER_00: And the mom and stepdad were looking at me like, what is this lady doing with my child, you know, because they didn't know me very well.
- 37:06SPEAKER_00: And the doctor literally went over and put his hands on her and prayed with us after saying what he had said and then apologized for saying what he said.
- 37:17SPEAKER_00: He agreed with the prayer, and then we sent her off, and and it was about a 15-minute flight from that hospital to the children's hospital, and I had I I headed home and I was crying, I weeped all the way home.
- 37:30SPEAKER_00: I got home, I I laid on my bed and I was just crying on my bed, praying and praying for her, and just was scared to death for her.
- 37:38SPEAKER_00: And um the phone rings, and I kid you not, the phone rings, and the doctor says, you know, hey, are you Mickey?
- 37:45SPEAKER_00: I'm like, yeah, and they're like, someone here wants to talk to you.
- 37:47SPEAKER_00: And I thought it was just gonna be the nurse needing some medical information, right?
- 37:51SPEAKER_00: That's really what I thought it was gonna be.
- 37:53SPEAKER_00: It was that girl.
- 37:54SPEAKER_00: She had woken up on the hell helicopter ride to the hospital demanding to be off, she was on life support.
- 38:01SPEAKER_00: She was trying to pull herself off life support.
- 38:03SPEAKER_00: She was like combative a little bit, trying to get off life support.
- 38:06SPEAKER_00: She could she wanted to talk, but they had that stuff down her throat.
- 38:10SPEAKER_00: They pulled it off from her, they get her into a room, and she said, I need the phone.
- 38:14SPEAKER_00: I need the phone now.
- 38:15SPEAKER_00: I gotta call Mickey.
- 38:16SPEAKER_00: She called me.
- 38:17SPEAKER_00: It wasn't even 15 minutes after that prayer, and she said, I heard every single word that you spoke over me, and God healed me.
- 38:23SPEAKER_00: I'm healed, I'm perfectly healed now.
- 38:26SPEAKER_00: God healed me.
- 38:27SPEAKER_00: And I was like, Wow, the power of prayer was so effective, and I just I I like I I just bawled and bawled, and she cried and cried, and she's like, I heard every word you said over me, every single word, I heard it.
- 38:40SPEAKER_00: I heard every word, and I just was like, so I was like, Thank you, God.
- 38:44SPEAKER_00: I just thanked God over and over for saving that girl's life.
- 38:46SPEAKER_00: But you know, that was an instant moment where where he he took care of something instantly.
- 38:53SPEAKER_00: That doesn't always happen.
- 38:54SPEAKER_00: Look at look at your friend Nehemiah, he's in the hospital, he did have the surgery, he went through the surgery, he he got through the surgery, now he's got to get through the recovery, and so some of it's instantaneously, and some of it's a process, some of it's a 23-year process.
- 39:10SPEAKER_00: We have to trust God, we have to put our faith in.
- 39:13SPEAKER_00: And that's what He wants us to do.
- 39:15SPEAKER_02: So I just wanted to share that testimony with you because it's just the reward I'm having now with the joy that I'm having now with this one answered prayer for someone I really love.
- 39:28SPEAKER_02: It's it was it was like, you know, you were there all along.
- 39:32SPEAKER_02: We're talking, we're saying things, you know, it's like God was with both of us all along, you know, and it's so amazing, it's it's so healing, and it's like um uh Joseph when his brothers um had put him in a pit, and then you know, they came back and he said, Go back and get your father and Benjamin, and then they he went back and he he wept bitterly.
- 40:00SPEAKER_02: And I can say that I've I experienced that now, that I had that bitter weep weeping, and it was also like a joy.
- 40:07SPEAKER_02: It was like way down in your belly, you know what I mean?
- 40:11SPEAKER_02: Kind of cry, and you know, you're like, and it was also like um a flood of a release of tears.
- 40:19SPEAKER_02: The tears were not like you know how you cry and you're all snot and everything, it wasn't like that, it was just like water fell out of my eyes, you know, and it was just like just a flood, and it was like a relief, you know, like all this stuff has been pent up for so long that I'm like, okay, I'm trusting you, God, I'm trusting you, you know.
- 40:40SPEAKER_02: And then just when you least expect it, boom, it happens.
- 40:45SPEAKER_02: I was just like, wow, and I know that sometimes we expect, we expect, but you know what?
- 40:50SPEAKER_02: Expectations can lead to resentment, you know, and like yes, you know, God answers them how he answers them, you know, and it's his will, and his ways are greater and higher than our ways, it says in Isaiah 55, you know, and I love Isaiah 55, so if you want to read it, you should go read it because the whole entire chapter is so good, you know.
- 41:17SPEAKER_02: It talks about, you know, why why do you you know, why do you want to buy the buy bread or milk or something like that?
- 41:26SPEAKER_02: I can't remember when you have God, you know, why are you searching out all this other stuff when you have him?
- 41:33SPEAKER_02: And you know that one place where he says, Do you love me?
- 41:39SPEAKER_02: And then Peter's like, Yeah, I love you.
- 41:42SPEAKER_02: You know, he's like, No, do you love me?
- 41:45SPEAKER_02: Right, do you love me?
- 41:48SPEAKER_02: You know, and I feel that way.
- 41:50SPEAKER_02: I feel that way with with you know, am I loved?
- 41:56SPEAKER_02: Do you love me?
- 41:57SPEAKER_02: You know, am I, you know, like isn't that what we all want?
- 42:01SPEAKER_02: We want to be loved, right?
- 42:02SPEAKER_02: You know, and nobody can love you like Jesus.
- 42:05SPEAKER_02: And when he was saying that to Peter, he was like, Do you love me, you know, as a friend, you know?
- 42:14SPEAKER_02: And then do you do you fully o me, meaning friendship?
- 42:18SPEAKER_02: And then he asked him twice, and then he says, No, do you agape me?
- 42:22SPEAKER_02: Which is like the only kind of person who can really give you that kind of love is God, right?
- 42:27SPEAKER_02: Which is a is it, you know, and the closest thing I can say is someone who would die for you, which I would say the military, you know, they could they're they're fighting for their country and they are fighting for our freedom, and they're literally laying their lives on the line, you know, a mother or a father putting themselves in harm's way for their child.
- 42:50SPEAKER_02: That's the closest thing to agape I can say that Jesus did on the cross when he died for us.
- 42:58SPEAKER_02: He loved us, you know.
- 43:00SPEAKER_02: He said, Do you love me, Peter?
- 43:01SPEAKER_02: You know, then go build my church, go feed my sheep.
- 43:05SPEAKER_02: Go be a faith builder.
- 43:07SPEAKER_02: You know, like Yes.
- 43:11SPEAKER_00: When I think of agape love, I think agape love is the deepest form of love that you could ever receive or feel or have.
- 43:18SPEAKER_00: Um I I like um first John 4, 7, and 8, where it says, Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God, and he that knoweth not, knoweth not God.
- 43:27SPEAKER_00: Um, because I always felt in my lifetime that I was never like I didn't have a lot of love.
- 43:32SPEAKER_00: My mom never said she loved me, hardly ever.
- 43:35SPEAKER_00: Um and when that verse came to me, I started telling her I love her.
- 43:39SPEAKER_00: And she thought I was strange.
- 43:40SPEAKER_00: She's like, Why are you always telling me you love me?
- 43:42SPEAKER_00: I'm like, because we need to tell each other.
- 43:44SPEAKER_00: I go, Well, do you really love me?
- 43:45SPEAKER_00: She goes, Yeah, I go, but you don't ever say it.
- 43:47SPEAKER_00: She goes, I don't have to say it, I show it.
- 43:49SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, Okay, but I want to hear it.
- 43:51SPEAKER_00: We need to hear it.
- 43:52SPEAKER_00: You know, and God, God says it all throughout the the word.
- 43:55SPEAKER_00: He talks about how much he loves all throughout the Bible, and um so.
- 44:00SPEAKER_00: It's important that we recognize it.
- 44:02SPEAKER_00: And if we don't have it, we don't have God.
- 44:05SPEAKER_00: If we are nothing but hate, you know, we're going to get into that next week when we after we're going to wrap this up here in a minute.
- 44:11SPEAKER_00: But next week, when we start talking about being saved or not being saved, that salvation, um, those that actually don't have love for people or comp uh, you know, empathy or compassion for one another, they truly just hate.
- 44:25SPEAKER_00: That's not God.
- 44:27SPEAKER_00: And so when we when we claim to be Christians, if we're acting like that, I I really am concerned with someone's salvation, honestly.
- 44:35SPEAKER_00: And I'm not gonna say whether someone's saved or not, because that's not my place, but we're gonna get into that next week.
- 44:41SPEAKER_01: But I caution people, I do caution people.
- 44:44SPEAKER_00: Hey, if you have that in your heart, take it to God and release it, get rid of it.
- 44:49SPEAKER_00: Um, ask for help for it.
- 44:51SPEAKER_00: You know, God will even help you, because God already knows you, He knows how He built it, He knows your heart, He knows how you're He knows what you went through to get where you at you're at.
- 44:59SPEAKER_00: So, same with our prayer.
- 45:01SPEAKER_00: That's what the prayer closet is for, the prayer room is for, the prayer time, the the praying all the time.
- 45:08SPEAKER_00: I don't know about you, Trish, but I pray all the time.
- 45:10SPEAKER_00: I'm like, I'm sorry, I get up and I I'm in the kitchen and I'm talking to God and I'm cooking breakfast and I'm I'm turning on the TV and I'm gonna be able to do that.
- 45:16SPEAKER_00: I have notes in my bathroom.
- 45:18SPEAKER_00: Huh?
- 45:19SPEAKER_02: I have notes in my bathroom.
- 45:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I turn on the TV and music comes on, and I'll I'll a song will come on and be like, oh God, I love this song, and I'll start praising, I'll just singing to God, and and you know, and I just all kinds of stuff, and you know, I'll dance around the house and I'd probably look like a baffoon, I don't even know, but I you know, I'm sure people are like, what is that lady doing in there?
- 45:38SPEAKER_00: What is she doing, you know?
- 45:39SPEAKER_00: And my kids are like, and Bella always like, Who are you talking to?
- 45:42SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, I'm talking to God, like who are you talking to, you know?
- 45:46SPEAKER_00: And because I just talk to God all the time, like he's right here with me, because he is.
- 45:51SPEAKER_00: You know, that's the relationship that God wants with us, and he wants us to do it without ceasing.
- 45:55SPEAKER_00: He doesn't want us to be like, oh, somebody's in the room, don't talk about God, you know, don't be ashamed of the gospel or to talk about God.
- 46:03SPEAKER_00: And if we want to stop and have a conversation with God, we can.
- 46:06SPEAKER_00: You know, we get to decide what we do.
- 46:08SPEAKER_00: You know, there's times where I hesitated to pray around people or in a group because I thought I might offend the people, when in fact all I did was offend God.
- 46:18SPEAKER_00: And when I thought about that, I had to go to God and repent and be like, wow, I stepped right out into the world and allowed the enemy to make me feel like I had to please man over God.
- 46:30SPEAKER_00: And I don't do that, you know, I try not to do that anymore.
- 46:33SPEAKER_00: And um I'm not trying to make anybody else feel uncomfortable because I'm praying, but I'm not really too worried about it.
- 46:41SPEAKER_00: I'm more worried about what God thinks about it.
- 46:43SPEAKER_00: So I put my priorities in place when it comes to prayer now, you know, and what I what I'm doing and stuff.
- 46:50SPEAKER_00: So but anyhow, on that note, we do need to wrap up and and uh close out.
- 46:55SPEAKER_00: That was a great message.
- 46:56SPEAKER_00: Um there's a lot of power in in the story of Nehemiah.
- 47:01SPEAKER_00: And I love how you mentioned earlier, um, before we got on here, how G er not Jesus, Nehemiah, he he actually made a representation like Jesus did by taking on and and and taking the blame and and and taking all of that.
- 47:18SPEAKER_00: Like you said, can you say that again?
- 47:19SPEAKER_00: Will you tell will you say that again?
- 47:21SPEAKER_00: Because we didn't record that part.
- 47:23SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay.
- 47:24SPEAKER_02: So um, yeah, he basically took ownership of the people and he was repenting for them, his father's, and himself.
- 47:35SPEAKER_02: So, and it was like the you know, Jesus is the propitiation of our sins, you know, like he died on the cross for us.
- 47:43SPEAKER_02: So he was basically saying, like, I'm going to bat for these people, you know.
- 47:49SPEAKER_02: I'm he he put himself into the humblest position in prayer on his face, you know, and like, you know, do you hear me?
- 47:58SPEAKER_02: Do you see me, you know?
- 48:00SPEAKER_02: And um he prostrated his heart, you know, and um that's what Nehemiah, it was like a foreshadowing of what Jesus did on the cross.
- 48:10SPEAKER_02: And um Jesus was like, you know, forgive them for they know not what they do, you know, and you know, and I like what you said, you said Emmanuel, you know, you said God, He is with us.
- 48:24SPEAKER_02: And I instantly I thought, Emmanuel, God with us.
- 48:27SPEAKER_02: And um, you know, in Isaiah 9, 6, it says, um, for a child to us is born, to a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called wonderful counselor, mighty God, everlasting father, prince of peace.
- 48:50SPEAKER_02: And you know, think about the heaviness of the gospel, the heaviness of what he carried.
- 49:00SPEAKER_02: You know, it was our sins, you know, and so it and just too um in the garden of Gethsemane, he prayed, Father, if it be your will, take this cup from me.
- 49:15SPEAKER_02: And Nehemiah was the cupbearer to the king.
- 49:20SPEAKER_02: And it was like, it's that's the part that you were saying that I was saying earlier that was related to Jesus carrying the cup.
- 49:30SPEAKER_02: He's he said, take this cup from me.
- 49:32SPEAKER_02: Well, cupbearers would drink the cup, and if they died, then they took the cost of for the king.
- 49:42SPEAKER_02: Well, Jesus took the cost for us, he bared that cup on the cross.
- 49:47SPEAKER_02: And it's like so beautiful how the word is, and so in line with the seed is coming, you know, the holy seed of Jesus, you know, he's the one, the holy seed is what he brought to us, the word, you know.
- 50:05SPEAKER_02: And it's just beyond our thinking, I think, you know.
- 50:11SPEAKER_00: Anyway, yeah, I think that's amazing because um, you know, in when we when we talk about the gospels, um, and we become disciples of Christ, we're supposed to act like Christ.
- 50:22SPEAKER_00: And that's what Nehemiah did.
- 50:24SPEAKER_00: He acted like Christ in that situation.
- 50:27SPEAKER_00: Um, he stepped up to the plate and and um he prayered on be he prayed on behalf of you know the people and and his father and himself.
- 50:36SPEAKER_00: And um, I just think it's just a a wonderful picture um to share with everyone that you know when we intercede in prayer for one another, um, God also allows us to pray for each other in that sense.
- 50:52SPEAKER_00: Like if we're like I pray for my son and you pray for your son, and and we have prodigals out there, we have prodigal children out there that we're praying for, we're interceding.
- 51:02SPEAKER_00: Um and uh we're interceding on behalf of their behavior, not just for them being absent in our lives, you know.
- 51:09SPEAKER_00: We're interceding in prayer on behalf of their protection.
- 51:13SPEAKER_00: And there's a lot of different things that we pray for that God He doesn't just throw it aside, um He He takes it to heart.
- 51:23SPEAKER_00: And even though our prayers don't immediately get answered all the time, I want everyone to know that God is still listening, He has not left us, He is not gonna forsake us, even though we think we have He has the the enemy is the one telling us this.
- 51:36SPEAKER_00: It's not not Christ.
- 51:38SPEAKER_00: Christ is there, He He's He wants He tells us to pray without ceasing.
- 51:43SPEAKER_00: So if He didn't want to hear our prayers, He wouldn't tell us to do that.
- 51:47SPEAKER_00: The enemy would distract you, but not Jesus ceasing means to halt, to stop, to withhold, you know.
- 51:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you know, and you don't you pray without ceasing, you keep going.
- 52:02SPEAKER_02: Right, you know, the the motor is still running, you know.
- 52:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 52:06SPEAKER_02: Um I read something about George Washington praying in uh the library at four in the morning.
- 52:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's like over the United States.
- 52:19SPEAKER_02: This is a morning deal, you know.
- 52:21SPEAKER_02: He would get in there and he would pray.
- 52:24SPEAKER_02: And um there was a a preacher, I think it was Spurgeon, and um they had a team of people who would pray early in the morning, four in the morning.
- 52:35SPEAKER_02: They would go into the church and they had a special room, and they were all in there interceding for the people, and they were praying and praying for the pastor, praying for the worship team, praying, praying, praying, and it was like, wow, you kind of need the engine to start before you you drive the train.
- 52:55SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 52:56SPEAKER_02: You got you know, um, yeah, but the the fulfillment of Christ is what really fills us, you know.
- 53:06SPEAKER_00: That's really awesome.
- 53:07SPEAKER_00: Well, on that note, I I think that we should um say a prayer and close close this out.
- 53:13SPEAKER_00: And um looking forward to next week talking about salvation and trying to get some clarity because I know that's a question that a lot of people ask.
- 53:21SPEAKER_00: Um, like, can I lose my salvation?
- 53:23SPEAKER_00: So we're gonna dive into that next week.
- 53:25SPEAKER_00: And um, and um, I'm not sure are you gonna are you gonna talk about Ezra that with that with that topic or next week?
- 53:33SPEAKER_00: Um, probably not.
- 53:35unknown: Okay.
- 53:35SPEAKER_02: Because Ezra's about prayer.
- 53:37SPEAKER_02: Maybe, possibly.
- 53:38SPEAKER_02: Maybe I I have to study first.
- 53:42SPEAKER_00: So, but today was a great lesson.
- 53:43SPEAKER_00: So I just want to close us out with prayer today.
- 53:45SPEAKER_00: So, Father God, Lord, we just thank you, Lord.
- 53:47SPEAKER_00: We just thank you so much.
- 53:49SPEAKER_00: We thank you for the opportunity to just be able to come to you in prayer, Lord.
- 53:53SPEAKER_00: And we could bring anything to the table, Lord, and you're just willing and able and just listen to our hearts and our needs and and and you just care so much and love us so much that um you want to hear what we have to say.
- 54:05SPEAKER_00: You wanna you want to know what we we need and what we want and the desires of our heart, Lord.
- 54:10SPEAKER_00: And we just thank you for all of the answered prayers you've already given us, Lord.
- 54:13SPEAKER_00: We even thank you for the unanswered prayers, Lord, because you know what's best for us, Lord.
- 54:17SPEAKER_00: God, we just thank you for being abundant, being so mighty and gracious and merciful, even when we don't deserve it, Lord.
- 54:25SPEAKER_00: And we just thank you, Lord.
- 54:26SPEAKER_00: And we thank you, Lord, that even if our cup gets full, Lord, we could just we could just hand it over to you, God.
- 54:31SPEAKER_00: We don't have to carry the burden alone.
- 54:33SPEAKER_00: Your word says to to to give you our burdens.
- 54:36SPEAKER_00: And so through prayer, Lord, we need to remember that that is the place where we can do it, Lord.
- 54:41SPEAKER_00: We just ask that, um, or I just ask, Lord, that you just watch over everyone today that's listening and open their hearts and um help them to be able to surrender whatever, anything and everything that that that's on their heart to to you, Lord, that they could just give it all to you and know that you are there and you're listening and you're willing.
- 55:00SPEAKER_00: And God, we just thank you so much for everything you do.
- 55:03SPEAKER_00: We thank you for this podcast.
- 55:04SPEAKER_00: We thank you for building our faith.
- 55:07SPEAKER_00: And Lord, I just pray that you build the faith in others as well as Christians abroad, Lord.
- 55:11SPEAKER_00: And we just thank you for this um opportunity to be able to come and share your word, share the gospel with people, Lord.
- 55:16SPEAKER_00: And we just ask that you just spread it afar, Lord, and let everybody to hear it, Lord.
- 55:20SPEAKER_00: We just thank you so much, and we ask you to watch over us and keep us safe.
- 55:24SPEAKER_00: In Jesus' name I pray.
- 55:25SPEAKER_00: Amen.
- 55:26SPEAKER_02: Amen.
- 55:28SPEAKER_00: All right, see you next time.
