- 3:15SPEAKER_11: And Doug.
- 3:16SPEAKER_11: And that's Doug.
- 3:17SPEAKER_11: Um, so I want to talk about a couple things because I just got a phone call, actually a FaceTime call from my daughter out in Ohio.
- 3:24SPEAKER_11: Ah.
- 3:25SPEAKER_11: And she was out Number one.
- 3:27SPEAKER_11: She yes, number one.
- 3:28SPEAKER_11: She was out to eat with um one of her co-workers because they were working tonight.
- 3:33SPEAKER_11: And um first thing she said was uh because her coworker, uh really cool guy, he's like uh they were searching through our podcast lists, and we've never done a podcast on Pink Floyd.
- 3:49SPEAKER_11: And he he says, you know, if you ever want to do a podcast on Pink Floyd, I I'll be a guest.
- 3:55SPEAKER_11: You know, I'd love to talk about Pink Floyd.
- 3:57SPEAKER_11: And I said, Yeah, I love that.
- 3:59SPEAKER_11: Uh Doug hates Pink Floyd, but I don't hate Pink Floyd.
- 4:03SPEAKER_11: I'm just like I didn't say you hated Pink Floyd.
- 4:05SPEAKER_11: I yeah.
- 4:06SPEAKER_09: I'm not a bit I'm not a huge fan of Pink Floyd.
- 4:08SPEAKER_11: Right, right, right, right, right.
- 4:09SPEAKER_11: I I I didn't say you hated Pink Floyd, but I did say I hated the wall.
- 4:13SPEAKER_11: We've we've never done anything on Pink Floyd.
- 4:16SPEAKER_09: Not really.
- 4:16SPEAKER_09: Well, I mean we've mentioned him in passing and stuff.
- 4:19SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 4:19SPEAKER_11: But no, I said, yeah.
- 4:21SPEAKER_11: Well I said, not tonight.
- 4:23SPEAKER_11: Oh no, no, not tonight.
- 4:24SPEAKER_11: So I'd like to have him on because he's he's definitely a cool guy.
- 4:27SPEAKER_11: He's a video guy, you know, in uh um his name's Rory.
- 4:31SPEAKER_09: Rory?
- 4:32SPEAKER_11: Rory.
- 4:33SPEAKER_11: Yep.
- 4:34SPEAKER_11: Rory.
- 4:34SPEAKER_11: Rory, yeah.
- 4:35SPEAKER_09: Rory.
- 4:36SPEAKER_11: Rory.
- 4:36SPEAKER_09: Rory.
- 4:37SPEAKER_11: Rory.
- 4:37SPEAKER_11: Hard to say sometimes.
- 4:38SPEAKER_09: Rory's I feel like I'm drunk.
- 4:40SPEAKER_09: Rory.
- 4:41SPEAKER_09: Hey, hey, Roy.
- 4:43SPEAKER_09: Hey Roy.
- 4:44SPEAKER_09: Roy.
- 4:46SPEAKER_09: What were you?
- 4:50SPEAKER_09: Oh nothing, Mr.
- 4:52SPEAKER_09: Kronkang.
- 4:53SPEAKER_09: Roy!
- 4:55SPEAKER_11: No, very, very cool guy.
- 4:56SPEAKER_11: He's got a nice little family.
- 4:58SPEAKER_11: Uh just had a new baby, and um my daughter is uh pretty close with him.
- 5:03SPEAKER_11: So um but yeah, I'd like to have him on.
- 5:05SPEAKER_11: That would be kind of fun.
- 5:06SPEAKER_11: Yeah, actually.
- 5:07SPEAKER_11: I'd like to have her on too uh again.
- 5:09SPEAKER_11: I don't know if I don't think she would want to be.
- 5:11SPEAKER_09: No, she I think she hates our podcast.
- 5:13SPEAKER_11: I think she does too.
- 5:14SPEAKER_09: So uh Well, I think I don't I don't well I let me let me clarify.
- 5:17SPEAKER_09: I don't think she hates the podcast.
- 5:19SPEAKER_09: I think she hates the way we do it.
- 5:21SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah, because yeah because it's so very like thrown together.
- 5:24SPEAKER_09: Yeah, in just like you know, last minute.
- 5:26SPEAKER_11: Because well, let's face it, she's in the podcast business.
- 5:29SPEAKER_09: She is, yeah.
- 5:31SPEAKER_09: She she does a real podcast.
- 5:33SPEAKER_11: She does.
- 5:34SPEAKER_09: Several, and then there's us.
- 5:35SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 5:36SPEAKER_11: Several real podcasts, actually.
- 5:37SPEAKER_11: Oh, yeah.
- 5:37SPEAKER_11: She's yeah.
- 5:38SPEAKER_11: So um, but she's also not the the type of person that would be on a podcast.
- 5:44SPEAKER_11: No, yeah, no.
- 5:45SPEAKER_11: We we we kind of we kind of forced her into it.
- 5:48SPEAKER_11: Yeah, yeah.
- 5:49SPEAKER_11: Um but she also was fun.
- 5:51SPEAKER_11: I also had to bring up the fact that someone with two thumbs is number one in the NFL fantasy.
- 6:02SPEAKER_09: Yeah, we know.
- 6:03SPEAKER_09: We saw the screenshot.
- 6:07SPEAKER_09: Everybody look at me! Look at me, I'm number one.
- 6:11SPEAKER_09: Why did I post it though?
- 6:12SPEAKER_11: Because I know it's not gonna last.
- 6:13SPEAKER_09: Did you see me post it when I was number one last week?
- 6:16SPEAKER_09: No.
- 6:16SPEAKER_09: But you!
- 6:17SPEAKER_10: Oh, I'm number one.
- 6:19SPEAKER_10: Let me take a screenshot.
- 6:20SPEAKER_10: Post it to threat.
- 6:21SPEAKER_10: Look at me, everybody.
- 6:22SPEAKER_10: I'm Captain Football.
- 6:28SPEAKER_03: I was like, geez.
- 6:30SPEAKER_02: Yes, well, no, but get over your stomach.
- 6:34SPEAKER_02: I had to post it for I said I posted it for posterity because you know why you posted it.
- 6:38SPEAKER_09: It's not gonna last.
- 6:40SPEAKER_09: I well, no, you posted it just to rub it into Jude more.
- 6:43SPEAKER_09: You're damn right I did.
- 6:44SPEAKER_09: Oh, man, you it was I didn't even realize how much you smoked until I saw it.
- 6:49SPEAKER_09: I was like, oh, holy freaking crap.
- 6:51SPEAKER_11: It's funny that you say that because my daughter sent me a personal message.
- 6:56SPEAKER_11: Usually we send to like the family chat.
- 6:58SPEAKER_11: Sure.
- 6:58SPEAKER_11: Or whatever.
- 6:59SPEAKER_11: Oh, I probably shouldn't say this because she did say not to tell Jude.
- 7:03SPEAKER_11: Not Jude doesn't listen to my uh podcast.
- 7:06SPEAKER_09: Has he ever listened to this podcast?
- 7:07SPEAKER_11: I don't know.
- 7:07SPEAKER_11: I think he has uh, you know, once in a while.
- 7:10SPEAKER_11: But he goes, she reached out and she's like Pst This was Monday morning.
- 7:18SPEAKER_11: Pst.
- 7:19SPEAKER_11: Good job on absolutely demolishing Jude.
- 7:22SPEAKER_11: Don't tell him I said that.
- 7:24SPEAKER_11: And then I said, just bad luck on his part.
- 7:25SPEAKER_11: Amari Cooper's injured, so I might not be so lucky next week.
- 7:28SPEAKER_11: She goes, You're beating him by over a hundred points, and you haven't even played your quarterback yet.
- 7:33SPEAKER_11: You played your people that got 20 to 30 points.
- 7:35SPEAKER_11: I left mine on the bench.
- 7:37SPEAKER_11: And uh, so yeah.
- 7:41SPEAKER_09: Jude, at this point, Jude is Poland.
- 7:44SPEAKER_09: You are Nazi Germany.
- 7:46SPEAKER_09: And we whatever And it's September 1st, 1939.
- 7:49SPEAKER_11: I'm telling you what though, it's early.
- 7:51SPEAKER_09: Oh, yeah, it's only week now.
- 7:52SPEAKER_09: Jude is very good at what he does.
- 7:54SPEAKER_09: Oh, Jude's coming back.
- 7:55SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah.
- 7:56SPEAKER_11: Jude is I I would not count him out, although he is in eighth place now.
- 8:01SPEAKER_09: I believe I won't last long.
- 8:03SPEAKER_09: He'll he'll make a comeback.
- 8:04SPEAKER_09: Of course he can.
- 8:04SPEAKER_09: We got a long season ahead of us.
- 8:06SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 8:06SPEAKER_09: Of course he'll it'll happen.
- 8:07SPEAKER_11: He's str he's strategic.
- 8:09SPEAKER_09: He is.
- 8:09SPEAKER_09: He's you know, it's still early.
- 8:11SPEAKER_11: George Bush used to say strateger.
- 8:13SPEAKER_09: This is strategic.
- 8:14SPEAKER_09: Yeah, he's like he's gonna, he's gonna he's gonna find a way back and win it all.
- 8:19SPEAKER_11: Of course he is.
- 8:20SPEAKER_09: So we're not worried.
- 8:22SPEAKER_11: I ain't scared.
- 8:24SPEAKER_09: I just can't believe there's four of us that are undefeated so far.
- 8:27SPEAKER_09: I know.
- 8:28SPEAKER_11: It's weird.
- 8:29SPEAKER_11: So yeah, she did point that out too.
- 8:31SPEAKER_11: She says, I just like in your screenshot how it says uh if the um playoffs were held today, these people would not be in, and and I was one of them, she says.
- 8:41SPEAKER_09: Yeah, well, you know.
- 8:42SPEAKER_09: But she's on the edge.
- 8:42SPEAKER_09: She's in pitch.
- 8:43SPEAKER_09: She is so so I mean she could very easily move up in the rankings.
- 8:46SPEAKER_11: Yeah, we have the girl.
- 8:48SPEAKER_11: It's a bigger field this year.
- 8:49SPEAKER_11: I mean, it's a twelve.
- 8:51SPEAKER_11: We have twelve people.
- 8:51SPEAKER_11: Twelve teams.
- 8:52SPEAKER_11: Twelve teams, yeah.
- 8:52SPEAKER_09: Yeah, so that's uh that's a whole different league this year.
- 8:55SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 8:56SPEAKER_09: But oh, and I did get all the trophies in, by the way.
- 8:59SPEAKER_09: Did you?
- 8:59SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I'll take pictures and post it.
- 9:01SPEAKER_11: I was telling um telling my kid about it, and she's like, What's the winner trophy look like?
- 9:05SPEAKER_11: I said, I don't remember.
- 9:07SPEAKER_09: It's a miniature Lombardi trophy.
- 9:09SPEAKER_11: Oh, there we go.
- 9:09SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 9:10SPEAKER_11: And I said, I know that the loser trophy is another version of the toilet.
- 9:13SPEAKER_09: Yes.
- 9:13SPEAKER_11: Yes.
- 9:13SPEAKER_09: So I think it's a bigger version of the one we had.
- 9:16SPEAKER_11: Oh, yeah.
- 9:16SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 9:17SPEAKER_11: I haven't seen that one in a long time.
- 9:18SPEAKER_11: I'm can't.
- 9:19SPEAKER_09: I don't know who has it.
- 9:20SPEAKER_09: Does Joko have it?
- 9:21SPEAKER_09: I don't know.
- 9:22SPEAKER_11: I don't either.
- 9:23SPEAKER_09: If Joko has it, it's probably at his parents' house.
- 9:26SPEAKER_11: Good point.
- 9:27SPEAKER_11: So it's either Joko or Shane, right?
- 9:30SPEAKER_09: It's one of them.
- 9:31SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 9:32SPEAKER_09: So I don't know.
- 9:34SPEAKER_09: We'll find out.
- 9:35SPEAKER_09: It doesn't matter.
- 9:35SPEAKER_09: No worries.
- 9:36SPEAKER_09: We have new trophies in there.
- 9:37SPEAKER_02: No worries.
- 9:37SPEAKER_11: Anyway, this is episode 212.
- 9:41SPEAKER_11: No, yeah, I was reading.
- 9:42SPEAKER_11: 213.
- 9:44SPEAKER_11: Yes, 213.
- 9:45SPEAKER_11: You were reading wrong.
- 9:46SPEAKER_11: I was reading wrong.
- 9:47SPEAKER_11: Um I don't think we said that at the beginning, that it was episode 213.
- 9:51SPEAKER_09: Well, no, because we went into uh I'm awesome at fantasy football this week, so I'm going to take a picture of it.
- 9:58SPEAKER_09: I'm the main thing.
- 10:00SPEAKER_11: Well, like I said, it's not gonna last.
- 10:02SPEAKER_11: Every once in a while I need a little attention.
- 10:06SPEAKER_10: Pay attention to me.
- 10:10SPEAKER_10: Everybody look at me!
- 10:12SPEAKER_11: That's what uh Jude gets for calling me an A-hole.
- 10:15SPEAKER_11: That is true.
- 10:16SPEAKER_11: During the draft, I I scored the San Francisco 49ers defense and he was ticked.
- 10:22SPEAKER_11: He called me a aren't they one and two?
- 10:25SPEAKER_11: He called yeah, they are.
- 10:26SPEAKER_11: Don't don't get me started.
- 10:27SPEAKER_11: But he called me an a-hole.
- 10:29SPEAKER_11: And I'm like, I'm your father.
- 10:32SPEAKER_09: Yeah, but he's married now, so the blind the lines are kind of blurred.
- 10:36SPEAKER_09: No, they're not.
- 10:37SPEAKER_09: Oh, well, okay.
- 10:38SPEAKER_09: Never mind.
- 10:40SPEAKER_10: Look at me! I'm Captain Football.
- 10:49SPEAKER_11: Is that uh until further notice, that is the name of the podcast episode.
- 10:52SPEAKER_02: Captain Football?
- 10:53SPEAKER_02: I am Captain Football.
- 10:54SPEAKER_02: I am Captain Football, yes.
- 10:55SPEAKER_02: There we go.
- 10:56SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 10:57SPEAKER_09: Mark it, mark it.
- 10:58SPEAKER_09: Unless we come up with it.
- 10:59SPEAKER_09: Where are we at so we go look for it again?
- 11:03SPEAKER_02: Unless we come up with something better.
- 11:04SPEAKER_09: So that could happen.
- 11:05SPEAKER_11: Yeah, it could happen very well.
- 11:07SPEAKER_11: Um okay, so I got a couple things to talk about.
- 11:10SPEAKER_11: So uh I feel really bad for Arnell Panada.
- 11:14SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I see uh everybody's kind of giving him crap for that.
- 11:18SPEAKER_09: Yeah, and listen, I think I saw Dean Castor Nova go on and uh defend him.
- 11:23SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 11:24SPEAKER_11: To be perfectly honest, and this is just a vibe I get, because you know Journey comes with a lot of baggage and a lot of drama.
- 11:34SPEAKER_11: Yeah, they're to be perfectly honest.
- 11:36SPEAKER_09: They're the mean girls of rock and roll.
- 11:38SPEAKER_11: I think Arnell Pineda has been trying and really wants out of that band.
- 11:48SPEAKER_11: He will not say it, but I think he's done with the drama.
- 11:54SPEAKER_09: Well, I don't blame him.
- 11:55SPEAKER_09: And and he's because he's in He probably wants to go back and live in obscurity in the Philippines again.
- 12:02SPEAKER_11: Well, see, no, don't get me wrong.
- 12:03SPEAKER_11: I think he, of course, we're talking about the the the lead singer of Journey, uh, who's from the Philippines, and was put in that spot after um Steve Augieri took over for Steve Perry.
- 12:20SPEAKER_11: And Steve Augieri got some sort of illness or something wrong with his voice, um, and was I don't necessarily believe that either.
- 12:32SPEAKER_11: I think they fired Steve Augieri, but whatever.
- 12:35SPEAKER_11: Um so they got Arnell Paneda, they saw him on YouTube, and and he's been the singer for Journey for 17 years, and I was like, has it been that long?
- 12:45SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 12:45SPEAKER_09: It's like holy crap.
- 12:46SPEAKER_11: Yeah, for 17 years.
- 12:47SPEAKER_11: And he does a great job.
- 12:48SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 12:48SPEAKER_11: And he's a he's yeah, he's a great front man, great singer.
- 12:52SPEAKER_11: Um but he has been uh like in the in the public eye, like he has he has said, number one, it's a tall order to be the lead singer of Journey.
- 13:07SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 13:08SPEAKER_11: Because of way, the singing.
- 13:10SPEAKER_11: I mean, he's a great singer, but it it's hard.
- 13:13SPEAKER_11: Oh yeah.
- 13:14SPEAKER_11: You know.
- 13:15SPEAKER_11: And B because of who you are replacing, arguably one of the best voices in all of rock and roll.
- 13:25SPEAKER_11: And so those are big shoes to fill, and and you know, you you are always getting compared.
- 13:33SPEAKER_11: In every performance, you're you're being compared.
- 13:36SPEAKER_11: And so that's a lot on your shoulders.
- 13:39SPEAKER_11: And you know, all the all the legal stuff that they've been going through, and they fired the rhythm section, and blah, blah, blah.
- 13:47SPEAKER_11: And he's he's a hired gun.
- 13:50SPEAKER_11: I think.
- 13:50SPEAKER_11: Essentially, yeah.
- 13:51SPEAKER_11: I don't think he's a I think he's in the organization, but I don't think he's like a partner.
- 13:58SPEAKER_11: Because it's John Cain and Neil Sean that have their name on the business.
- 14:01SPEAKER_11: Right.
- 14:01SPEAKER_11: Right.
- 14:02SPEAKER_09: And apparently they have a six million dollar credit card.
- 14:05SPEAKER_11: Right.
- 14:07unknown: Jesus Christ.
- 14:09SPEAKER_11: So I think Arnell was done with it a long time ago.
- 14:14SPEAKER_11: Because he had made hints in some of his cause I follow him, you know, he on some of his social media like years ago, that um I'm really tired.
- 14:24SPEAKER_11: Um, I love being in journey, but I miss my family.
- 14:27SPEAKER_11: You know, like I'm paraphrasing, obviously.
- 14:29SPEAKER_11: No, sure.
- 14:30SPEAKER_11: But he says that all the time.
- 14:32SPEAKER_11: And now he they do rock and Rio, and he has a subpar performance, and according to you know, everybody's making excuses.
- 14:43SPEAKER_11: I'm reading this article on uh Neil Sean says that they were uh victims of um BS by Avenge Sevenfold.
- 14:52SPEAKER_11: So they were on the bill.
- 14:54SPEAKER_11: Get that.
- 14:55SPEAKER_09: Avenge sevenfold and journey.
- 14:57SPEAKER_11: Yeah, in and in Rio.
- 14:59SPEAKER_11: Okay.
- 15:00SPEAKER_11: Um so it's like having Metallica and the Indigo Girls.
- 15:03SPEAKER_11: Right.
- 15:04SPEAKER_11: So Neil Sean, he says, uh, we found out uh let's see, Sean uh I'm reading up.
- 15:13SPEAKER_11: The the the imposed the headline act imposed control over his band's sound output.
- 15:20SPEAKER_11: Journey wasn't even headlining.
- 15:22SPEAKER_11: Even sevenfold was the headliner.
- 15:25SPEAKER_11: And so somebody asked about that, actually, when a follower asked if Journey's SoundTech uh actually they asked why Even Sevenfold had been the headliner rather than Journey.
- 15:35SPEAKER_11: Sean said, politics.
- 15:37SPEAKER_11: I don't know what what that means.
- 15:39SPEAKER_11: But he said, we found out much later that we got extremely limited by Even Sevenfold.
- 15:43SPEAKER_11: That means that hardly any sound can get out of the PA to the audience.
- 15:48SPEAKER_11: It's a BS move.
- 15:50SPEAKER_11: And he said, despite that, check out the audience.
- 15:52SPEAKER_11: They loved it.
- 15:53SPEAKER_11: The rest of it is fabricated crap.
- 15:55SPEAKER_11: And I believe that.
- 15:57SPEAKER_11: He he had said something about uh let's see, he he shared a video from the stage showing the fans at Rio.
- 16:05SPEAKER_11: He says, All this absolute garbage, fabricated BS about Arnell.
- 16:09SPEAKER_11: Does this look like nobody had a good time?
- 16:12SPEAKER_11: I'm asking you.
- 16:13SPEAKER_11: All fabricated, owned, and bought blogs BS.
- 16:18SPEAKER_11: That's a real thing.
- 16:20SPEAKER_11: You know, people pay, you know, sponsor these blogs and stuff like that.
- 16:23SPEAKER_11: And so they make things up just to get clicks.
- 16:28SPEAKER_11: But what we're talking about is so this performance didn't go well for Journey, or at least for Arnell.
- 16:35SPEAKER_11: And he felt so bad about it that he put a post up on social media that said, you know, I I'm I feel terrible.
- 16:44SPEAKER_11: If a million people tell me to go, like if a million people comment on this post and they say, quit.
- 16:53SPEAKER_11: You should be out of journey.
- 16:55SPEAKER_11: Then I will leave.
- 16:57SPEAKER_11: Is that passive aggressive?
- 17:00SPEAKER_11: Not passive aggressive.
- 17:01SPEAKER_11: Is that like if he got a million votes, do you think he really would leave?
- 17:08SPEAKER_11: Probably not.
- 17:09SPEAKER_11: You don't think so?
- 17:10unknown: No.
- 17:10SPEAKER_11: I think he would.
- 17:13SPEAKER_11: I don't know.
- 17:13SPEAKER_11: Because I think he wants out.
- 17:15unknown: I think.
- 17:16SPEAKER_09: Why doesn't he just leave?
- 17:18SPEAKER_11: Because I think he's he feels loyalty to the band.
- 17:23SPEAKER_11: And I think he likes singing for Journey, but I think he's tired of the drama.
- 17:29SPEAKER_09: Well, he probably doesn't want to go living back in a friggin' shack in the Philippines.
- 17:34SPEAKER_11: Well, I don't think he would, that's the thing.
- 17:36SPEAKER_11: I think he's done pretty well for himself in the past 17 years.
- 17:39SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 17:40SPEAKER_11: Um But I don't know.
- 17:43SPEAKER_11: Uh who would who would post something like that?
- 17:47SPEAKER_11: If a million of you tell me that I should be out of journey, then I'll quit.
- 17:50SPEAKER_09: Well, that sounds like something like a Justin Bieber would do.
- 17:53SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 17:54SPEAKER_09: You know what I mean?
- 17:55SPEAKER_09: Just immaturity.
- 17:56SPEAKER_09: I I mean I think maybe he was drunk.
- 17:58SPEAKER_11: Hmm, I don't know.
- 18:00SPEAKER_11: Or high.
- 18:01SPEAKER_11: He goes he said, let's see.
- 18:04SPEAKER_11: Uh am I am I reading from him or am I reading from Dean Castanovo?
- 18:10SPEAKER_11: I think I think I'm reading from him.
- 18:11SPEAKER_11: He says, No one more than me in this world feels so devastated about this.
- 18:15SPEAKER_11: It's really amazing how a thousand right things you have done will be forgotten just because of this.
- 18:20SPEAKER_11: And all and of all the places, it's rock and rio.
- 18:24SPEAKER_11: Mentally and emotionally, I've suffered already, and I'm still suffering.
- 18:28SPEAKER_11: So here's the deal now.
- 18:29SPEAKER_11: I'm offering you a chance, especially those who hated me and never liked me from the very beginning, to simply text go or stay right here.
- 18:38SPEAKER_11: And if go reaches one million, I'm stepping out for good.
- 18:43SPEAKER_11: I yeah.
- 18:44SPEAKER_09: I'm just venting.
- 18:45SPEAKER_11: Well, of course he's venting, but I don't know.
- 18:48SPEAKER_09: But yeah, I doubt he'll go.
- 18:50SPEAKER_11: As of press time.
- 18:51SPEAKER_11: Did he get a million?
- 18:52SPEAKER_11: Well, as of press time, uh, this article on Ultimate Classic Rock, um, approximately 2,600 people have commented, and it appears that the majority are in the stay camp.
- 19:03SPEAKER_11: Um So, yeah, both as you mentioned, both Neil Sean and Dean Castanovo came out and and just were like defending him.
- 19:14SPEAKER_11: Castronomo said said, uh, let's see, to think that he's been struggling with this for 14 years, he said, I had no idea.
- 19:20SPEAKER_11: I think it was something that he didn't know if he had the liberty to say.
- 19:23SPEAKER_11: Hey, I need to fix this, or you guys need to try something different here.
- 19:26SPEAKER_11: Either get a new sound man or whatever.
- 19:29SPEAKER_11: But once we got this guy, uh everything changed.
- 19:32SPEAKER_11: He's a different guy, a different guy.
- 19:33SPEAKER_11: Oh my god, it blew us away.
- 19:34SPEAKER_11: I think it's been fifteen shows since that changed, and every night he sounds amazing.
- 19:39SPEAKER_11: I don't know what changed I'm talking about.
- 19:41SPEAKER_11: Long running vocal issues by working with a vocal coach because the band turned down their on stage volume.
- 19:47SPEAKER_11: So apparently he was pushing too hard because the band was loud on stage.
- 19:51SPEAKER_11: Um and roached his voice, maybe.
- 19:54SPEAKER_11: I don't know.
- 19:55SPEAKER_09: Could be.
- 19:56SPEAKER_11: I don't know.
- 19:57SPEAKER_11: But uh, you know, again, it's just more journey drama.
- 20:00SPEAKER_11: Uh which is unfortunate because they are one of my favorite bands.
- 20:04SPEAKER_11: You know?
- 20:04SPEAKER_11: I I hope they I hope they work it out and I hope they just stop all this crap and and make some music.
- 20:11SPEAKER_11: Uh not necessarily new music, because that last album stunk.
- 20:15SPEAKER_09: Oh, it was terrible.
- 20:17SPEAKER_09: Awful.
- 20:18SPEAKER_11: And in the it's like the s the songs weren't terrible, really.
- 20:22SPEAKER_11: But the production was terrible.
- 20:24SPEAKER_11: Really, really awful.
- 20:26SPEAKER_11: Um, all right, moving on.
- 20:27SPEAKER_11: I have some October releases.
- 20:29SPEAKER_11: Oh, goody.
- 20:31SPEAKER_11: Um, and again, I'm going to stick to the new releases, not necessarily the reissues or the concert.
- 20:37SPEAKER_11: Right.
- 20:37SPEAKER_11: Unless it's you know a band that we're really digging.
- 20:40SPEAKER_11: Um Eric Clapton has a new album coming out.
- 20:45SPEAKER_11: It's called Meanwhile.
- 20:47SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 20:50SPEAKER_11: I I I love Eric Clapton.
- 20:54SPEAKER_11: Um Eric Clapton post.
- 21:01SPEAKER_11: Why is that networking they call it?
- 21:06SPEAKER_11: Let me start that over.
- 21:08SPEAKER_11: I don't know if I want to start it over because it's not so quiet.
- 22:12SPEAKER_11: Yeah, I won't be buying this album.
- 22:14SPEAKER_11: Kinda blah.
- 22:16SPEAKER_11: Yeah, well, his last few albums have been kind of blah.
- 22:19SPEAKER_11: I'm not sure why that is not uh giving me the volume I want.
- 22:24SPEAKER_11: Um see if that makes a difference.
- 22:31SPEAKER_11: Nope.
- 22:32SPEAKER_11: Isn't that odd?
- 22:33SPEAKER_11: I've got it cranked.
- 22:35SPEAKER_11: And interestingly enough, this plug was not over here.
- 22:41SPEAKER_11: It was behind the laptop.
- 22:43SPEAKER_11: So I think my son has been down here messing around with things.
- 22:49SPEAKER_11: And I think he's gonna hear about it tonight.
- 22:52SPEAKER_11: Alright.
- 22:52SPEAKER_11: Alright.
- 22:53SPEAKER_11: So Eric Claptons, meanwhile, comes out October 4th.
- 22:59SPEAKER_11: Those rest are reissues.
- 23:02SPEAKER_11: Reissues, vinyl editions, archives.
- 23:06SPEAKER_11: A three-song EP from Motley Crue.
- 23:10SPEAKER_11: Okay.
- 23:10SPEAKER_11: Comes out also October 4th called Canceled.
- 23:14SPEAKER_11: And I would imagine it has that one song that we featured not too long ago.
- 23:17SPEAKER_11: I can't remember the name of it.
- 23:18SPEAKER_09: Dogs of War.
- 23:19SPEAKER_11: Dogs of War, that's what it was.
- 23:21SPEAKER_11: Let's see.
- 23:23SPEAKER_11: Let's see.
- 23:23SPEAKER_11: That's a vinyl.
- 23:24SPEAKER_11: That's a reissue.
- 23:25SPEAKER_11: That's a reissue.

- 23:28SPEAKER_11: The Smile.
- 23:30SPEAKER_11: I've never heard of them, but they have a new album coming out called Cutouts.
- 23:34SPEAKER_11: Oh, good.
- 23:34SPEAKER_11: I can't wait.
- 23:35SPEAKER_11: Oh, same.
- 23:38SPEAKER_09: Oh, is that Def Leppard?
- 23:39SPEAKER_09: It is.
- 23:40SPEAKER_09: I thought that was a woman.
- 23:42SPEAKER_11: Yep, that's Joe Elliott.
- 23:44SPEAKER_11: Joe Elliott.
- 23:44SPEAKER_09: Gee whiz.
- 23:45SPEAKER_11: Yep.
- 23:46SPEAKER_11: October 11th, Def Leppard comes out with one night only live at the lead mill in Sheffield.
- 23:54SPEAKER_01: Hello 2023.
- 23:57SPEAKER_01: In the lead mill.
- 24:02SPEAKER_01: We could only have dreamed of doing this in 1978.
- 24:06SPEAKER_01: And we were just a couple of moments down the road.
- 24:16SPEAKER_01: And uh we have one.
- 24:39SPEAKER_01: So we we knew that my dog was pretty good or something.
- 24:44SPEAKER_01: And uh you got a guitar and he plugged it in.
- 24:48SPEAKER_01: And without a sign of words, he just took this down that represented pretty much it's crazy.
- 24:59SPEAKER_11: So this is um from the debut Def Leopard album Wasted.
- 25:04SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 25:04SPEAKER_11: The old Def Leopard.
- 25:05SPEAKER_09: Back when Rick had two arms.
- 25:07SPEAKER_11: Right.
- 25:08SPEAKER_11: Anyway, um I apologize for the sound.
- 25:11SPEAKER_11: We'll uh actually I'll fix it in post.
- 25:13SPEAKER_11: I'll try and boost the volume up on that a little bit.
- 25:16SPEAKER_11: Uh so one night only live at the lead mill in Sheffield comes out October 11th.
- 25:22SPEAKER_11: Duran Duran's deluxe version of their latest album, Dance Macabre.
- 25:27SPEAKER_11: How do you say that?
- 25:28SPEAKER_11: Macabre.
- 25:29SPEAKER_11: Macabre.
- 25:29SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 25:30SPEAKER_11: Um comes out October 11th as well.
- 25:33SPEAKER_11: Uh the rest of these are reissues.
- 25:37SPEAKER_11: The MC5.
- 25:39SPEAKER_11: Uh you do?
- 25:40SPEAKER_11: Oh, yeah, I'm not there yet.
- 25:41SPEAKER_11: Miles Kennedy has a solo album coming out called The Art of Letting Go.
- 25:46SPEAKER_11: Cool.
- 25:47SPEAKER_11: Cool.
- 25:48SPEAKER_11: Um Bill Bruford.
- 25:51SPEAKER_11: Oh, that's the best stuff.
- 25:52SPEAKER_11: I don't want to do that.
- 25:52SPEAKER_11: Another Bon Jovi Greatest Hits.
- 25:54SPEAKER_11: Another one?
- 25:55SPEAKER_11: Another one.
- 25:56SPEAKER_11: Um let's see.
- 25:58SPEAKER_11: Jerry Cantrell's I Want Blood.
- 26:00SPEAKER_11: Oh, yeah.
- 26:00SPEAKER_11: That's coming out October 18th.
- 26:02SPEAKER_11: We already talked about um MC5 Heavy Lifting, which we listened to a couple songs.
- 26:09SPEAKER_11: That's probably that song right there.
- 26:10SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 26:11SPEAKER_11: Uh and it was decent.
- 26:12SPEAKER_11: It didn't sound like the MC five.
- 26:14SPEAKER_11: No.
- 26:14SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 26:14SPEAKER_02: No.
- 26:15SPEAKER_11: Um let's see.
- 26:18SPEAKER_11: Oh, this is interesting.
- 26:19SPEAKER_11: Mick Fleetwood and Jake Shimabakuro.
- 26:22SPEAKER_11: Oh, yeah.
- 26:23SPEAKER_11: Who's a uh ukulele player, right?
- 26:25SPEAKER_09: I have no idea.
- 26:26SPEAKER_09: Never heard of him.
- 26:26SPEAKER_11: Yeah, no, I think he's a ukulele player.
- 26:28SPEAKER_11: Okay.
- 26:28SPEAKER_11: They have an album coming out called Blues Experience.
- 26:31SPEAKER_09: A ukulele and a drummer.
- 26:33SPEAKER_09: Apparently.
- 26:33SPEAKER_09: All right.
- 26:34SPEAKER_09: I guess.
- 26:34SPEAKER_09: Sounds like a plan to make.
- 26:37SPEAKER_11: Uh let's see.
- 26:39SPEAKER_11: This is a reissue, but I'm going to mention it anyway.
- 26:41SPEAKER_11: Tom Petty's Long After Dark.
- 26:43SPEAKER_11: Expanded 2LP, 2CD, Blu-ray Deluxe reissue.
- 26:47SPEAKER_11: That's kind of cool.
- 26:48SPEAKER_11: Um, what is this?
- 26:50SPEAKER_11: Oh, Queen.
- 26:53SPEAKER_11: So they're reissuing their first album.
- 26:56SPEAKER_11: I know that.
- 26:57SPEAKER_11: Uh, and that, I believe, is coming out October 25th.
- 27:03SPEAKER_11: Also coming out October 25th.
- 27:06SPEAKER_11: I'm looking for new music here.
- 27:07SPEAKER_11: New music.
- 27:07SPEAKER_11: That's a retrospective.
- 27:08SPEAKER_11: I don't want that.
- 27:09SPEAKER_11: Well, I do want this.
- 27:10SPEAKER_11: David Coverdale, Into the Light, the Solo Albums.
- 27:14SPEAKER_11: A six CD box set.
- 27:17SPEAKER_09: He's had six solo albums.
- 27:18SPEAKER_11: Six solo albums, yeah.
- 27:19SPEAKER_11: Wow.
- 27:20SPEAKER_11: I I I knew he had solo albums, but I didn't know he had that many.
- 27:23SPEAKER_11: Uh, let's see.
- 27:27SPEAKER_11: Green Day, Ian Hunter.
- 27:29SPEAKER_11: Uh, that's an expanded reissue.
- 27:32SPEAKER_11: Uh Mr.
- 27:36SPEAKER_11: Big.
- 27:37SPEAKER_11: The big finish live.
- 27:40SPEAKER_11: Two CD set.
- 27:41SPEAKER_11: Cool.
- 27:41SPEAKER_11: Basically their farewell uh concert tour.
- 27:45SPEAKER_11: Um Queen, I already mentioned the first album is coming back out.
- 27:50SPEAKER_11: Rats Out of the Cellar, 40th anniversary edition, with a new song.
- 27:54SPEAKER_11: Oh, of course.
- 27:55SPEAKER_11: Or a, I should say, a new old song.
- 27:58SPEAKER_11: Probably.
- 27:58SPEAKER_11: I'm sure.
- 27:59SPEAKER_11: Probably.
- 28:00SPEAKER_11: We had already talked about Tears for Fears, songs for Nervous Planet.
- 28:02SPEAKER_11: That comes out also October 25th.
- 28:07SPEAKER_11: Let's see.
- 28:09SPEAKER_11: And coming in November, looking ahead to November.
- 28:12SPEAKER_11: Um, that's a box set I don't want to talk about.
- 28:14SPEAKER_11: George Well, George Harrison's reissued um 50th anniversary reissue of Living in the Material World.
- 28:21SPEAKER_11: Now wait a second.
- 28:23SPEAKER_11: Has it been 50 years of Living in the Material World?
- 28:28SPEAKER_09: Is that what it says?
- 28:29SPEAKER_09: I guess so.
- 28:30SPEAKER_09: It must be.
- 28:33SPEAKER_09: That would be about right.
- 28:34SPEAKER_11: Yeah, I guess so.
- 28:36SPEAKER_11: Why did I think Living in a Material World was his last solo album?
- 28:41SPEAKER_11: What was his last solo album called?
- 28:43SPEAKER_09: I have no idea.
- 28:44SPEAKER_11: Hmm.
- 28:46SPEAKER_11: Hold on, I gotta find it.
- 28:48SPEAKER_09: The only one I have is All Things Must Pass.
- 28:49SPEAKER_11: Yeah, I have that as well.
- 28:50SPEAKER_11: On vinyl, actually.
- 28:52SPEAKER_11: Um.
- 28:55SPEAKER_11: But I want to see.
- 28:58SPEAKER_11: Maybe I'm I'm obviously I'm completely wrong.
- 29:02SPEAKER_09: Um, but his You're not wrong, you're Captain Football!
- 29:07SPEAKER_11: Just ask you! Well, I'm not wrong about football, at least this week.
- 29:12SPEAKER_11: Uh Wonder Walm Electric Sound things.
- 29:15SPEAKER_11: Okay, yeah, Living in the Material World came out in 73.
- 29:19SPEAKER_11: What was the name of his last solo album?
- 29:23SPEAKER_11: Uh Brainwashed?
- 29:27SPEAKER_11: No.
- 29:30SPEAKER_11: It was that was released in 2002.
- 29:33SPEAKER_11: Maybe it was Brainwashed.
- 29:34SPEAKER_11: I didn't think that was the name of it.
- 29:37SPEAKER_11: Um final studio album by George Harrison.
- 29:46SPEAKER_11: Yeah, anyway.
- 29:48SPEAKER_11: Um so once again, uh in November, Crossroads Guitar Festival 2023, Eric Clapton, comes out.
- 29:56SPEAKER_11: Uh, and Smashing Pumpkins.
- 30:00SPEAKER_11: That's a vinyl edition.
- 30:01SPEAKER_11: So anyway, there you go.
- 30:03SPEAKER_11: That's all we have for new music coming out in the next month or so.
- 30:07SPEAKER_11: Um so that's kind of cool.
- 30:09SPEAKER_09: It's yeah.
- 30:10SPEAKER_11: It's yeah.
- 30:11SPEAKER_11: Yeah, there's nothing really that I'm dying to pick up.
- 30:14SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 30:15SPEAKER_11: Um I was talking to somebody, and we've probably good for you.
- 30:20SPEAKER_11: We've talked You know, I do have friends.
- 30:23SPEAKER_11: What?
- 30:24SPEAKER_11: Um and we were talking, because we've talked about this before, that you know, I still I still buy CDs once in a while.
- 30:35SPEAKER_11: I still download from Amazon.
- 30:39SPEAKER_11: But it pains me to say, and you know, my wife's gonna listen to this too, I just don't have time to listen to them.
- 30:47SPEAKER_11: Unless I'm in the car and I have to stream them.
- 30:52SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 30:52SPEAKER_11: And I don't even it's weird because I d I don't I don't have a like platinum or premiere subscription to anything, so I can't call up an album and listen to the whole album.
- 31:04SPEAKER_09: You can do that with a platinum or premiere?
- 31:06SPEAKER_11: I think you can on like Spotify.
- 31:08SPEAKER_11: Really?
- 31:08SPEAKER_11: I think so.
- 31:10SPEAKER_11: Um You know, YouTube every once in a while would will have like uh you can go and say, you know, whatever, full album, and they've they've put out like videos or lyric videos for all of the songs on an album.
- 31:27SPEAKER_11: So you could listen to a whole album on YouTube.
- 31:29SPEAKER_11: Right.
- 31:29SPEAKER_11: But that's cumbersome if you're driving.
- 31:31SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 31:32SPEAKER_11: You know.
- 31:33SPEAKER_09: So Well, you can listen to the audio, you don't have to watch the video.
- 31:36SPEAKER_11: Well, no, what I'm saying is to to to find it, you know, while you're while while you're driving.
- 31:41SPEAKER_11: Right.
- 31:42SPEAKER_11: Um and so I don't know, I just f I just it pains me that my personal listening uh habits have changed.
- 31:54SPEAKER_11: Because I used to, you know, I have this all set up down here, my my records and and everything, so that I can come down here and put one on and just kick back and listen and enjoy it and play guitar to it or something.
- 32:09SPEAKER_11: But I never get a chance to do that.
- 32:12SPEAKER_11: It's just you think with you think with age you slow down or or you have time to to do the things you enjoy.
- 32:24SPEAKER_11: But it's not the case.
- 32:25SPEAKER_11: I'm just I'm busier than I've ever been.
- 32:27SPEAKER_09: It's crazy.
- 32:29SPEAKER_09: Well, if you had stopped at number two kid, you would have time, because they'd all be gone now.
- 32:34SPEAKER_09: See?
- 32:35SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 32:36SPEAKER_09: But you didn't.
- 32:37SPEAKER_09: You went three more times.
- 32:38SPEAKER_11: My wife said this to me last night, I think it was last night.
- 32:43SPEAKER_11: She's like, Do you remember it being this like nonstop and scattered?
- 32:51SPEAKER_11: Uh and I said, No, I don't.
- 32:53SPEAKER_11: And you know, we've always been busy with the kids because they've always done stuff.
- 32:57SPEAKER_11: They've always done stuff.
- 32:58SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 32:58SPEAKER_11: But I have two in high school now.
- 33:01SPEAKER_11: Uh one's on varsity, one's on JV.
- 33:03SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 33:03SPEAKER_11: And oftentimes, not all the time, but oftentimes, like last I think it was last weekend, they both had a game at the same time on fields next to each other.
- 33:14SPEAKER_11: So you had varsity playing on one field and you had the JV playing on the other field.
- 33:17SPEAKER_11: So we plant ourselves in the middle and we watch both.
- 33:20SPEAKER_11: Right.
- 33:20SPEAKER_11: You know?
- 33:21SPEAKER_11: Uh, but you know, more often than not, they don't have games at the same time or the same place.
- 33:29SPEAKER_11: And my daughter is in cross country and rec soccer, and she's on a soccer travel team.
- 33:39SPEAKER_11: So it's like, I'm gonna go drop her off at cross-country practice, but I gotta go pick her up because she has a soccer game, and then uh we can't go to a travel soccer game this weekend for her because both boys have a game in Old Town.
- 33:58SPEAKER_11: I mean, it's just it's crazy.
- 34:03SPEAKER_09: It's it's all good.
- 34:04SPEAKER_09: Well, that's the problem, these travel teams.
- 34:08SPEAKER_11: Yeah, well, I mean, but they are kicking butt.
- 34:11SPEAKER_11: They are undefeated, our travel team.
- 34:13SPEAKER_09: I'm not saying I'm not saying it's a bad thing that you're doing it.
- 34:17SPEAKER_09: I'm just saying now you it's like an extra thing.
- 34:20SPEAKER_11: Oh, yeah.
- 34:21SPEAKER_09: You got varsity, you got JV, you got travel, you got rec, you got I mean, they're just adding more and more.
- 34:27SPEAKER_09: It's like it's like with pageants.
- 34:28SPEAKER_09: Remember when it just used to be Littleness and then like the the big one?
- 34:32SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 34:33SPEAKER_09: Now you got like Miss This and Junior Miss and Little Miss and Tiny Miss and Tiny Miss and Miss Miss and Swiss Miss, and you know, they just they just keep adding crap to to include more people, and it's like when is it going to stop?
- 34:49SPEAKER_11: Right.
- 34:50SPEAKER_11: And they just had a big one at the forum the other day, and it was like four hours long because there were it was like everybody, every every miss something was there.
- 35:02SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 35:03SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 35:04SPEAKER_09: Why?
- 35:04SPEAKER_11: I don't know.
- 35:05SPEAKER_09: I don't I don't get it.
- 35:06SPEAKER_09: I mean, I mean, they're not it's not like they're you know they're gonna declare war on in a France.
- 35:12SPEAKER_11: Right.
- 35:12SPEAKER_09: You're not a real royalty, you're not a real queen.
- 35:15SPEAKER_09: Why do I have to sit through four hours of listening to off-tuned caterwalling because somebody told you you could sing and you believed them?
- 35:25SPEAKER_09: Oh, oh, oh, we're gonna dance to Celine Dion.
- 35:28SPEAKER_09: Oh, okay, I'd never seen this before.
- 35:30SPEAKER_09: Great, awesome.
- 35:32SPEAKER_09: That's I could do that now because I've seen it 17 times.
- 35:35SPEAKER_11: Preach it, preach it.
- 35:37SPEAKER_09: You know what I'm saying?
- 35:38SPEAKER_09: I I don't know.
- 35:38SPEAKER_09: I just get I just get tired of we gotta we gotta we gotta do we gotta have something for everybody.
- 35:45SPEAKER_09: No, you don't.
- 35:46SPEAKER_11: Right.
- 35:46SPEAKER_09: When we grew up, they didn't have all that stuff.
- 35:50SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 35:50SPEAKER_09: If you didn't make varsity or JV, that was done.
- 35:53SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 35:54SPEAKER_09: You were done.
- 35:55SPEAKER_09: You weren't doing anything.
- 35:56SPEAKER_09: Back in my day.
- 35:57SPEAKER_09: Back in my day, get off my lawn.
- 36:00SPEAKER_11: I can't believe, not to, not to interrupt you, but I probably should just because I'm just gonna keep going.
- 36:07SPEAKER_11: Well, I can't believe that I haven't talked about Josh yet.
- 36:10SPEAKER_11: Yeah, what's wrong with you?
- 36:12SPEAKER_11: I don't I've completely forgot.
- 36:13SPEAKER_11: Because you know why?
- 36:14SPEAKER_11: It's because it was a whirlwind trip.
- 36:16SPEAKER_09: So you only stayed to see Josh.
- 36:19SPEAKER_09: Right, we did.
- 36:20SPEAKER_11: So so here's the thing.
- 36:21SPEAKER_11: And Josh is gonna hear this probably at some point, and and my wife didn't want me to say anything to him.
- 36:28SPEAKER_09: Um Josh, you were terrible.
- 36:31SPEAKER_11: No, no, no, no, no.
- 36:32SPEAKER_11: No.
- 36:33SPEAKER_11: I actually told his parents, and I'm sure his parents will tell him, but um so we so so m Myra had a game in Santa Gatur.
- 36:45SPEAKER_11: And so we didn't end up leaving here.
- 36:47SPEAKER_11: So we went from Santa Gate, the northern part of the state, down to Portland.
- 36:52SPEAKER_09: You really you literally covered both ends of the street.
- 36:54SPEAKER_11: We did, we absolutely did.
- 36:55SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 36:56SPEAKER_11: So we didn't leave until I don't know, almost two o'clock, or it was two o'clock.
- 37:01SPEAKER_11: And the show was at eight.
- 37:03SPEAKER_11: And it takes at least four and a half hours, four hours, four and a half hours to get down to Portland.
- 37:09SPEAKER_09: Well, that's from here, but if you're exactly St.
- 37:11SPEAKER_11: Agatha, exactly.
- 37:12SPEAKER_09: That's you know, another hour or so.
- 37:14SPEAKER_11: So so we got we got to the venue.
- 37:17SPEAKER_11: So to back up, so Josh Kovac, our old guitar player, our brother, uh, who moved to Nashville to become a successful guitar player, um, touring guitar player, session guitar player, um, extraordinaire in Nashville.
- 37:35SPEAKER_11: When did he move?
- 37:36SPEAKER_09: 2014, 15, somewhere around there.
- 37:39SPEAKER_11: Was it that long ago?
- 37:40SPEAKER_09: It's been a while.
- 37:41SPEAKER_11: I thought it was like 17, but maybe not.
- 37:44SPEAKER_11: I don't know.
- 37:44SPEAKER_09: I don't know.
- 37:45SPEAKER_09: I don't remember.
- 37:45SPEAKER_11: I don't keep track.
- 37:46SPEAKER_11: But anyway, he's been he's been there a while.
- 37:48SPEAKER_11: Um and he's been doing great.
- 37:50SPEAKER_11: Anyway, he's touring with an artist named Dylan Schneider, and he's never, and we did discover this, he's never played in Maine since he moved to Nashville.
- 38:02SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 38:03SPEAKER_11: So we got wind that he's his Dylan Schneider was coming to uh Portland.
- 38:08SPEAKER_11: So I was like, I'm there.
- 38:10SPEAKER_11: And so I bought tickets, and we and actually um Shane and his wife Kim uh acquired tickets uh as well.
- 38:20SPEAKER_11: And so they were gonna go.
- 38:22SPEAKER_11: And so the uh Dylan Schneider's band was opening for a country artist uh by the name of Mitchell Tenpenny.
- 38:32SPEAKER_11: Um so we got down there about seven o'clock, and the show starts at eight.
- 38:40SPEAKER_11: And so I told my wife, actually before I told my wife, Shane came in and he said, just so you know, I said we listened to Dylan Schneider's music and Mitchell Tenpenny's music on the way here.
- 38:57SPEAKER_11: Um after Josh's show, we're gonna leave.
- 39:01SPEAKER_11: And I said, um, I'm with ya.
- 39:06SPEAKER_11: And so I mentioned it to my wife.
- 39:08SPEAKER_11: She's like, well, no, Josh would be upset.
- 39:11SPEAKER_11: And and I said, I don't I don't think Josh would be upset.
- 39:14SPEAKER_11: I think we came to see Josh, we saw him, and we can leave.
- 39:17SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 39:18SPEAKER_09: You're done, you're done either.
- 39:19SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah.
- 39:20SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 39:20SPEAKER_11: And so because I told, I said, you know, I don't really like Dylan's music.
- 39:27SPEAKER_11: I don't like Mitchell Tenpenny's music.
- 39:30SPEAKER_11: Um, I'm there for Josh.
- 39:31SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 39:32SPEAKER_11: And Shane said the same thing, Shane and Kim.
- 39:34SPEAKER_11: And so my wife said, Well, so let me let me back up.
- 39:42SPEAKER_11: So Kim said, I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt.
- 39:48SPEAKER_11: Uh Dylan Dylan Schneider.
- 39:49SPEAKER_11: I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt, and you know, maybe it's different live and and whatnot.
- 39:57SPEAKER_11: And so they started, and when I tell you that Josh just killed it, rocked.
- 40:08SPEAKER_11: I I was telling Shane, I said, he looks like Reb Beach up there.
- 40:12SPEAKER_11: He's got his hair flowing and he's dressed, you know, just so, and his stage presence is amazing.
- 40:19SPEAKER_11: Um, his guitar tone, his guitar sound was incredible.
- 40:27SPEAKER_11: Every note that he played was spot on.
- 40:31SPEAKER_11: Um just killed it.
- 40:33SPEAKER_11: I was really proud of him.
- 40:34SPEAKER_11: Uh and it was so great to see.
- 40:37SPEAKER_11: Because, I mean, we actually talked about it uh because we we went and saw Josh after he got off stage.
- 40:43SPEAKER_11: We went out into the lobby and we were talking to him, and I said to him, I said, You learned to palm mute.
- 40:50SPEAKER_11: He's like, Finally.
- 40:52SPEAKER_11: Uh but he was very appreciative that we were there.
- 40:55SPEAKER_11: But my wife, during the Dylan Schneider concert, actually towards the end of the Dylan Schneider concert, he played for about I want to say 45 minutes.
- 41:03SPEAKER_11: Um she said, you know, I was given I was trying given him a chance.
- 41:10SPEAKER_11: But I think he played forty-five minutes of the same song.
- 41:15SPEAKER_11: It was it was so noticeable.
- 41:20SPEAKER_11: You know, it every song started the same, built up the same, had a big chorus, and came back down.
- 41:29SPEAKER_11: And you didn't know unless they stopped and then he would and then he'd start a new song and it sounded just like the one he just ended.
- 41:39SPEAKER_11: It was crazy.
- 41:40SPEAKER_11: Um and of course I I think we're exaggerating a little bit, but I mean there were obviously differences, but it was the same formula, it was the same structure.
- 41:50SPEAKER_11: And she turned to me and she says, Yeah, if if you think Josh will be okay with it, I don't want to stay for Mitchell Tenpenny, because I think she had heard a couple of Mitchell Tenpenny songs.
- 42:03SPEAKER_11: Just not our thing.
- 42:03SPEAKER_11: And that's what there's nothing wrong with that.
- 42:05SPEAKER_11: Right.
- 42:06SPEAKER_11: But the takeaway was Josh is just living the dream.
- 42:15SPEAKER_09: Well, yeah.
- 42:16SPEAKER_11: I mean, it's it was and we when we went out to see him, it was really nice.
- 42:20SPEAKER_11: It was like no time had passed at all.
- 42:22SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 42:22SPEAKER_11: We were joking like we normally joke.
- 42:24SPEAKER_11: Uh I said, You're not using an amp are up there, are you?
- 42:28SPEAKER_11: He says, No.
- 42:29SPEAKER_11: And he's not, he was using a fractal.
- 42:31SPEAKER_09: Sure.
- 42:32SPEAKER_11: Uh right into the board.
- 42:33SPEAKER_11: So he goes on this whole tech speak, you know, talking to me like I know what he's talking about.
- 42:38SPEAKER_11: Um, which is great, you know.
- 42:40SPEAKER_11: Yeah, you know, I I I loved it.
- 42:42SPEAKER_11: And I was just very proud of him, and it was just so cool to see.
- 42:48SPEAKER_11: Uh, and his wife was there.
- 42:49SPEAKER_11: I didn't get to talk to her, yeah.
- 42:50SPEAKER_11: But she was, you know, because she was with friends and everything.
- 42:53SPEAKER_11: And I think we can say this.
- 42:55SPEAKER_09: Uh no.
- 42:56SPEAKER_11: No?
- 42:56SPEAKER_09: I think I think that should be something because I haven't seen it I haven't seen him say anything else to anybody about it.
- 43:04SPEAKER_11: So I don't think it's they spread it all around down there.
- 43:07SPEAKER_09: Well, I still I don't I don't feel right about yeah.
- 43:10SPEAKER_09: That's that's their news.
- 43:11SPEAKER_09: That's not for us to so.
- 43:15SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 43:16SPEAKER_11: You're right.
- 43:16SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 43:17SPEAKER_11: So I won't say anything.
- 43:22SPEAKER_09: There you go.
- 43:23SPEAKER_11: Yeah, we said it without saying it.
- 43:25SPEAKER_11: Exactly.
- 43:26SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 43:26SPEAKER_11: So yeah, uh, we missed you.
- 43:29SPEAKER_11: Um I did give him a hug for you.
- 43:31SPEAKER_09: Okay, good.
- 43:31SPEAKER_09: Um Jay Green was I I actually got I got a text yesterday from Harriet Turk.
- 43:37SPEAKER_11: Oh yeah?
- 43:38SPEAKER_09: And she was like, she's like because her husband has to go her husband's having arm problems and he has to go to the Mayo clinic to get it fixed.
- 43:49SPEAKER_09: So she usually she makes a trip to Maine in in the fall.
- 43:52SPEAKER_11: Right.
- 43:53SPEAKER_09: Well, because of this you know, because of her husband's procedure or whatever.
- 43:58SPEAKER_09: Yeah, she's not gonna make it to fall.
- 44:00SPEAKER_09: And then she was like, She was like, We need you and I need to go see Josh play.
- 44:04SPEAKER_09: And I was like, Okay, okay.
- 44:07SPEAKER_09: She was like, I'm gonna text Josh and get his schedule.
- 44:09SPEAKER_09: I was like, Well, tell him I said he's the man.
- 44:12SPEAKER_09: So I haven't heard back from her.
- 44:14SPEAKER_09: Oh well she's she's at a conference doing speech her you know right thing, so I expect that.
- 44:20SPEAKER_09: But I just thought it was funny just because like he was just here.
- 44:23SPEAKER_09: He was just he was literally just here.
- 44:25SPEAKER_09: And then the next day she's texting me like, hey, we need to go see Josh.
- 44:28SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 44:29SPEAKER_09: Okay, Harriet.
- 44:30SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 44:31SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 44:31SPEAKER_11: No, you would have been proud.
- 44:32SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 44:33SPEAKER_11: I know I would have.
- 44:33SPEAKER_09: I mean, I'm I'm I'm super proud of him anyway, even if I don't hear him.
- 44:36SPEAKER_09: I mean, I see all the reels on Instagram and stuff like that.
- 44:40SPEAKER_09: I mean, he's killing it.
- 44:41SPEAKER_09: He's just destroying it.
- 44:42SPEAKER_09: I mean he's I mean, I couldn't be prouder of the kid.
- 44:45SPEAKER_11: Yep.
- 44:45SPEAKER_09: You know, considering I I I bought when he first started playing, I bought him picks, yeah.
- 44:51SPEAKER_09: I bought him strings, I bought him a capo.
- 44:54SPEAKER_09: Oh, yeah.
- 44:54SPEAKER_09: I I mean, I just I I was like, dude, if you're really into this, I'll get all this stuff for you.
- 44:58SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 44:59SPEAKER_09: You know, because I just want you to do well and look, and you now now he's like And you know, it's not lost on him either.
- 45:05SPEAKER_11: Um, all the things that you did for him, all the things that our band did.
- 45:09SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 45:10SPEAKER_11: You know, the fact that he was fifteen, sixteen years old when he joined our band and we started gigging.
- 45:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 45:14SPEAKER_11: And, you know, um and look where he is now.
- 45:17SPEAKER_11: I know.
- 45:18SPEAKER_11: You know, we we gave him his start.
- 45:19SPEAKER_11: His mom and dad both say that, you know, and if it you know, we it was such a great start for him.
- 45:25SPEAKER_09: I'm glad that we were able to be that base for him.
- 45:29SPEAKER_11: Yep.
- 45:29SPEAKER_09: Because if he had tried if he had tried to go to Nashville without being, you know, like not in a band in high school, not being in a band in college.
- 45:39SPEAKER_11: Right.
- 45:39SPEAKER_09: If he had just like, you know, been playing guitar all this time, yeah, hadn't been in a band, and then he goes to Nashville and tries to be in bands, yeah, it would be a completely different story, I think.
- 45:50SPEAKER_11: So you're saying the fact that I was a dick to him that whole time was it was benefit for him?
- 45:53SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 45:55SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 45:56SPEAKER_09: Well, I mean, it was it was it was it wasn't necessarily you were being a dick, but you were just it was just like a tough love.
- 46:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 46:04SPEAKER_02: You know what I mean?
- 46:05SPEAKER_09: It was like it was like, hey man, if you're gonna be in this band, you gotta, you know, you gotta step up to you know our mediocre plate.
- 46:12SPEAKER_09: You know?
- 46:13SPEAKER_09: So, you know, you know, step up your game, at least to, you know, you know, medium low.
- 46:20SPEAKER_09: And you know, so we you know you can fit in with us.
- 46:23SPEAKER_09: You know, but I'm you know, a kid, but uh yeah, I mean if I mean he got started really early.
- 46:29SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 46:29SPEAKER_09: You know, when you're 15, 16, you're already playing in a band with you know how old were we at the time man boys.
- 46:35SPEAKER_11: Yeah, right.
- 46:36SPEAKER_09: You know what I mean?
- 46:37SPEAKER_09: Yeah, but you know, he got that experience.
- 46:39SPEAKER_09: I mean, gigging and you know how to perform and he and he he got really, really by the time he left our band, he was really he was the star of the band.
- 46:48SPEAKER_11: Oh, easily.
- 46:49SPEAKER_11: Easily, yeah.
- 46:49SPEAKER_09: I mean, people were coming to see Josh, not us.
- 46:51SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 46:51SPEAKER_09: I mean, it was just like Josh Kovac and Kwan McGrossi.
- 46:54SPEAKER_11: Right.
- 46:54SPEAKER_09: You know what I mean?
- 46:55SPEAKER_09: Yeah, and I was totally okay with it.
- 46:56SPEAKER_09: I would have been fine with that.
- 46:57SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 46:58SPEAKER_09: Because he was killing it, man.
- 46:59SPEAKER_09: He was I mean, that kid could solo.
- 47:01SPEAKER_09: I mean, he was even when he was still in high school, he was soloing.
- 47:05SPEAKER_09: I'm like, what the f yeah, where did that come from?
- 47:07SPEAKER_11: Right.
- 47:08SPEAKER_09: You know what I mean?
- 47:08SPEAKER_09: Steve Weyer?
- 47:10SPEAKER_09: What what's going on?
- 47:11SPEAKER_11: Right.
- 47:12SPEAKER_09: You know, I mean he was destroying it.
- 47:13SPEAKER_09: I mean, and he's just I I'm just so pro super proud of the guy.
- 47:16SPEAKER_09: And the fact that I couldn't be happier for that.
- 47:18SPEAKER_11: The fact that he and of course he went to college and and then he played in bands all through college.
- 47:23SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 47:23SPEAKER_11: He got a degree in mechanical mechanical engineering.
- 47:25SPEAKER_11: Mechanical engineering, yeah.
- 47:26SPEAKER_11: And while he was at college, he played he played in several bands while he was down there.
- 47:30SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 47:31SPEAKER_11: Different events, different festivals, and and played with everybody.
- 47:35SPEAKER_09: Well, he played in the the the what is it, the rock stars.
- 47:38SPEAKER_09: Rock Rock of Ages.
- 47:39SPEAKER_09: Rock of Ages, yeah.
- 47:39SPEAKER_11: The play, the musical, yeah.
- 47:41SPEAKER_11: Um and oh play in the Beatles tripping band.
- 47:43SPEAKER_11: Oh, yeah, played with the Beatles tripping band.
- 47:45SPEAKER_09: I mean, like I mean, he's done so much in just a short amount of time.
- 47:48SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 47:49SPEAKER_09: I mean, it was just a matter of time.
- 47:50SPEAKER_11: Uh when you went to Nashville, he'd been like And he's one of those guys too that and he does this, I know, because that's his living, his music.
- 47:57SPEAKER_11: Yeah, he doesn't do anything else.
- 47:59SPEAKER_11: And so when he's not on tour with someone like Dylan Schneider, because I think he tours with other people too.
- 48:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 48:04SPEAKER_11: Um, but when he's not on tour with someone, he's on Broadway in Nashville.
- 48:09SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 48:10SPEAKER_11: And he's playing gigs with anybody and everybody.
- 48:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 48:14SPEAKER_11: Uh all genres, rock, country, everything.
- 48:17SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 48:18SPEAKER_11: Um, because that's his bread and butter, that's what he does.
- 48:20SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 48:21SPEAKER_11: And that's friggin' awesome.
- 48:22SPEAKER_09: I know.
- 48:23SPEAKER_09: And he's he's making a killing at it, and he's making a good living at it.
- 48:26SPEAKER_11: So they bought a house recently.
- 48:29SPEAKER_11: Yeah, bought a house.
- 48:30SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 48:30SPEAKER_09: I mean, I mean, he's doing really, really well.
- 48:32SPEAKER_09: I mean, you can't, you can't, you know, he's done it right.
- 48:36SPEAKER_09: He did it right.
- 48:37SPEAKER_11: Yep.
- 48:37SPEAKER_09: If you if you compare it to his friend Wyatt, who tried to do the exact same thing and then just fizzled because he didn't put himself out there.
- 48:45SPEAKER_11: Right.
- 48:46SPEAKER_09: You know, he was expecting, you know, I don't know what he was expecting, but Josh was like, you gotta go out there, man.
- 48:52SPEAKER_09: You gotta you gotta put yourself because Josh does exactly what Josh did.
- 48:55SPEAKER_11: It does take a certain personality.
- 48:57SPEAKER_09: Yeah, and I don't I don't think he had that.
- 49:00SPEAKER_11: I don't think I have that.
- 49:01SPEAKER_09: I don't have it either.
- 49:02SPEAKER_11: You know, there's a drive there, you know, that you have to I mean I you know, I st I still love writing and and stuff like that, but I don't have the I don't have the I I guess I don't have the skin, the rhino skin that you need to um Well, I mean if we had developed it earlier in our you know in our career, yeah, um I think it would have been a different story.
- 49:22SPEAKER_09: I mean if that had been our driving thing, but it wasn't our driving thing.
- 49:26SPEAKER_09: We just did for fun.
- 49:27SPEAKER_11: Right.
- 49:28SPEAKER_09: You know, it wasn't it wasn't like we need to be, you know, gigging and touring and blah blah blah open for you know right you know we weren't we weren't thinking that we were just thinking oh maybe we'll get a gig.
- 49:39SPEAKER_09: Oh we gotta get what?
- 49:40SPEAKER_09: Okay, let's play some gig.
- 49:41SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 49:42SPEAKER_09: You know, it was it was never it was never that was never the goal.
- 49:46SPEAKER_09: Right you know, it was just this was just something we did for fun because we enjoyed doing it.
- 49:52SPEAKER_09: That's the difference.
- 49:53SPEAKER_09: Josh made it his the goal to be a professional guitar player.
- 50:00SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 50:00SPEAKER_09: And and he's done it.
- 50:01SPEAKER_09: He has.
- 50:02SPEAKER_09: So more power to the guy.
- 50:04SPEAKER_09: Absolutely.
- 50:04SPEAKER_09: He's doing awesome.
- 50:05SPEAKER_09: I'm proud of him.
- 50:06SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 50:06SPEAKER_09: We love you, Joko.
- 50:08SPEAKER_11: We do.
- 50:08SPEAKER_11: So uh that was a good trip, but uh, I will tell you, so we got down there at seven, we had the concert, the concert started at eight.
- 50:16SPEAKER_11: Um Dylan Schneider got down about uh eight forty-five, something like that, and we hung out with Josh for about 15-20 minutes, and we had to drive another hour south to our camp.
- 50:28SPEAKER_09: Oh, you stayed at the camp.
- 50:29SPEAKER_11: We stayed at camp and got up really early to come back, and uh it was a it was a long, it was a long but quick trip.
- 50:40SPEAKER_09: That's the thing, man.
- 50:42SPEAKER_09: It's getting harder and harder to do quick trips.
- 50:45SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah.
- 50:45SPEAKER_09: It's hard.
- 50:46SPEAKER_11: And here's the thing, while while we were gone, Myra little Myra and all her the stuff that she's in, well, she won the district soccer shootout.
- 50:58SPEAKER_09: Oh.
- 50:58SPEAKER_11: So now she has to go to Augusta.
- 51:01SPEAKER_11: Of course she has to go to.
- 51:02SPEAKER_11: It's like uh next week.
- 51:03SPEAKER_11: Or no, it's not the week after.
- 51:04SPEAKER_11: Wait, the first week in October, whenever that is.
- 51:08SPEAKER_11: So yeah, now we have to make a trip, I think it's on a Sunday.
- 51:11SPEAKER_11: I have to make a trip down to Augusta so she can compete in the state soccer shootout.
- 51:16SPEAKER_09: Well, there you go.
- 51:17SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 51:17SPEAKER_11: She's awesome, don't get me wrong.
- 51:19SPEAKER_11: I'm I'm very proud of her, but jeez.
- 51:21SPEAKER_11: You know, it's like another trip.
- 51:23SPEAKER_09: You know, you y'all should invest in a Winnebago.
- 51:26SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 51:27SPEAKER_11: Well, and that's another thing.
- 51:28SPEAKER_11: I gotta go down to uh Thomas College.
- 51:31SPEAKER_11: Uh our friend Aaron, um the plant.
- 51:35SPEAKER_11: Oh.
- 51:36SPEAKER_11: Uh has recruited me to do a songwriting uh presentation down at the uh Maine Middle School Educators Association.
- 51:44SPEAKER_02: Ah.
- 51:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 51:45SPEAKER_11: So I'm doing a presentation, but I have to go down October 10th after school, stay the night, and do the presentation Friday and then come back after after that's all done.
- 51:56SPEAKER_11: It's just another trip downstate.
- 51:58SPEAKER_11: You know, it's just I'm tired.
- 52:02SPEAKER_09: You are old.
- 52:03SPEAKER_09: I am old.
- 52:04SPEAKER_09: I'm old.
- 52:05SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 52:06SPEAKER_09: We're old.
- 52:06SPEAKER_11: We are.
- 52:08SPEAKER_11: I was having that same conversation.
- 52:09SPEAKER_11: Oh, you know, it was at that concert.
- 52:11SPEAKER_11: I was telling shape.
- 52:14SPEAKER_11: I d I said to I turned to him and I said, We're so friggin' old.
- 52:18SPEAKER_11: He's like, he laughs.
- 52:19SPEAKER_11: He's like, Yeah, we are.
- 52:20SPEAKER_09: We are, man.
- 52:21SPEAKER_11: We are.
- 52:22SPEAKER_09: I mean, yeah, 20 years ago, we could have we could have, you know, left here, gone down there, stayed up only, drove all the way back.
- 52:29SPEAKER_09: Oh wait, I did that.
- 52:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 52:31SPEAKER_09: Yeah, you did.
- 52:32SPEAKER_02: Several times.
- 52:33SPEAKER_09: Several times.
- 52:34SPEAKER_09: I think I I just I I just I don't have much more in me, man.
- 52:37SPEAKER_11: Oh no.
- 52:38SPEAKER_11: I mean, it's hard.
- 52:39SPEAKER_09: It is hard.
- 52:39SPEAKER_11: It is hard.
- 52:43SPEAKER_09: When I went down, we back, you know, it took me two days to recover.
- 52:48SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 52:48SPEAKER_09: And now I was just like, I can't go anywhere.
- 52:51SPEAKER_09: I can't do that anymore, man.
- 52:52SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 52:52SPEAKER_09: No, it's just it's getting tough, dude.
- 52:55SPEAKER_11: Tough.
- 52:55SPEAKER_11: I hear you.
- 52:57SPEAKER_11: I hear you.
- 52:57SPEAKER_11: Old.
- 52:58SPEAKER_11: We're old.
- 52:59SPEAKER_11: Ancient.
- 53:02SPEAKER_11: Let's let's do this.
- 53:03SPEAKER_11: Let's uh let's do the mixtape.
- 53:05SPEAKER_11: Okay.
- 53:06SPEAKER_11: Okay.
- 53:07SPEAKER_11: Because I'm tired.
- 53:09SPEAKER_09: Yeah, we're old.
- 53:12SPEAKER_09: Now I gotta find stuff.
- 53:13SPEAKER_11: So now past.
- 53:15SPEAKER_11: Past, present, past present, future.
- 53:17SPEAKER_11: So past.
- 53:18SPEAKER_11: I don't even remember what the question was last week.
- 53:21SPEAKER_11: Um I mean uh the the week before, I guess.
- 53:24SPEAKER_11: Whatever we did.
- 53:27SPEAKER_11: Do you remember what it was?
- 53:30SPEAKER_09: Uh it was something about We had given our answers.
- 53:34SPEAKER_09: Yeah, what was the question though?
- 53:36SPEAKER_11: I don't remember.
- 53:39SPEAKER_11: Is it in there?
- 53:40SPEAKER_11: Do you keep them in order or no?
- 53:41SPEAKER_11: No.
- 53:42SPEAKER_09: No.
- 53:46SPEAKER_11: Well, what are the answers?
- 53:47SPEAKER_11: Maybe that'll maybe that'll help us uh figure it out.
- 53:51SPEAKER_09: Well, I I well I can't give you the answers until I redo the past because we have to uh we haven't like who won.
- 53:59SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 53:59SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 54:01SPEAKER_11: I think I think I picked What did I pick?
- 54:06SPEAKER_09: It was is that something about annoying song uh wasn't it an Annoying Songs?
- 54:12SPEAKER_09: I thought that's Oh, it was the that was the neighbor one.
- 54:16SPEAKER_11: Oh, that's right.
- 54:17SPEAKER_09: Oh, and I played uh You did uh autograph.
- 54:19SPEAKER_11: Yeah, turn off the radio.
- 54:20SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 54:21SPEAKER_09: Uh but this is what our judge said.
- 54:24SPEAKER_09: I had to go with Revolution number nine.
- 54:26SPEAKER_09: I wasn't even through the intro and I was already wanting to send an apology letter and straighten out my behavior.
- 54:31SPEAKER_02: Number nine?
- 54:32SPEAKER_02: Number nine.
- 54:32SPEAKER_02: Number nine.
- 54:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so yeah.
- 54:35SPEAKER_09: So that was that was that one.
- 54:37SPEAKER_09: Now, for present, it was the you're stuck in your CD's stuck on one song in your car on a road trip.
- 54:46SPEAKER_11: Okay.
- 54:47SPEAKER_11: Did we give our answers yet?
- 54:48SPEAKER_09: No.
- 54:49SPEAKER_09: You gotta give them now.
- 54:50SPEAKER_09: I gotta read I'm gonna read cousin Larry's right now.
- 54:52unknown: Oh, I didn't pick one.
- 54:54SPEAKER_09: There you go.
- 54:55SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 54:56SPEAKER_11: Oh, is it an annoying song?
- 54:58SPEAKER_09: Well, it's just it's it's it's an annoying song because it just keeps playing over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.
- 55:05SPEAKER_11: So wait.
- 55:06SPEAKER_09: So this is a good song that's repeating over and over and over again?
- 55:13SPEAKER_09: It didn't really say, it just I don't know if I kept it.
- 55:16SPEAKER_09: Did I keep it?
- 55:17SPEAKER_11: I don't know.
- 55:18SPEAKER_11: Check here.
- 55:19SPEAKER_09: I I I should come up with my answer before I uh 14-hour road trip, no radio, CD player stuck on repeat on the worst to the worst song ever.
- 55:28SPEAKER_11: Oh, the worst song ever.
- 55:29SPEAKER_11: Okay.
- 55:30SPEAKER_11: What's the what's the song?
- 55:32SPEAKER_09: So okay, so this is what Cousin Larry said.
- 55:35SPEAKER_09: First song I thought of was the proclaimer's song.
- 55:38SPEAKER_09: I'm gonna be 500 miles because of Marshall's car tape deck on How I Met Your Mother.
- 55:43SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 55:43SPEAKER_09: But I don't really hate that song.
- 55:45SPEAKER_09: I probably won't win this one and may not be popular, but a song that would be hell for me to listen to for 14 hours is Susudio by Phil Collins.
- 55:55SPEAKER_09: I cannot stand that song.
- 55:57SPEAKER_09: Honorable mention to any Taylor Swift song.
- 56:00SPEAKER_09: She is like nails on a chalkboard to me.
- 56:02SPEAKER_09: See, that's why he's my cousin, Larry.
- 56:04SPEAKER_11: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 56:04SPEAKER_11: So about his answer is Susudio.
- 56:06SPEAKER_11: Susudio.
- 56:07SPEAKER_11: Hold on.
- 56:07SPEAKER_11: Should we we should let me pull that up a little bit here because just because oh actually, you know, my set my something's wrong with my with my uh setup here, and I think it's my son's fault.
- 56:20SPEAKER_11: I'm not gonna blame him completely, because I have to have a little conversation with him.
- 56:26SPEAKER_11: But uh he spends a lot of time FaceTiming down here, so I'm just assuming that's now it sounds better.
- 56:35SPEAKER_08: Maybe it's just uh maybe it's the internet.
- 56:39SPEAKER_08: Oh maybe.
- 56:45SPEAKER_11: I like it.
- 56:46SPEAKER_09: I like this.
- 56:46SPEAKER_09: I like those things.
- 56:59SPEAKER_11: Yeah, yeah.
- 57:00SPEAKER_11: I wouldn't pick that one, but you know, I guess tweet his own.
- 57:06SPEAKER_11: Okay, so what's yours?
- 57:08SPEAKER_09: Mine's my same answer from last week.
- 57:10SPEAKER_09: Revolution number nine.
- 57:12SPEAKER_11: Yeah, no, that would be, yeah.
- 57:14SPEAKER_09: I can't, I I cannot find another song that would that annoys me or is the worst song ever, other than Revolution No.
- 57:22SPEAKER_09: 9.
- 57:23SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 57:23SPEAKER_09: That is it.
- 57:24SPEAKER_09: That is that is that really a song?
- 57:27SPEAKER_09: I guess.
- 57:29SPEAKER_11: You know, it's a cut on an album.
- 57:30SPEAKER_11: Is it a song?
- 57:32SPEAKER_11: It's a compilation, right?
- 57:33SPEAKER_11: Or like a like an amalgamation of different sounds.
- 57:36SPEAKER_09: All I can think of is that is that video going around of John Lennon, Chuck Berry, and Yoko Ono doing a song and she starts screaming, and Chuck Berry's eyes go really wide.
- 57:48SPEAKER_09: That's all I can think of every time.
- 57:52SPEAKER_02: Oh my word.
- 57:53SPEAKER_02: So, yeah.
- 57:54SPEAKER_11: Uh I'm gonna be honest.
- 57:57SPEAKER_11: I haven't picked one.
- 57:58SPEAKER_11: Uh I'm trying to.
- 57:59SPEAKER_09: Well, it's hard, man.
- 58:00SPEAKER_09: I mean it is.
- 58:01SPEAKER_09: Because we, you know, if it's a CD in our car, then we obviously love that band or CD or whatever.
- 58:07SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 58:08SPEAKER_09: So um it was a hard question this week, man.
- 58:12SPEAKER_09: I'll tell you what.
- 58:13SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 58:15SPEAKER_11: Uh I want to go something like um Neil Young or, you know, because there are certain Neil Young songs that I like.
- 58:26SPEAKER_11: I don't really much care for Neil Young.
- 58:29SPEAKER_11: No.
- 58:29SPEAKER_09: Um I don't think anybody really does.
- 58:32SPEAKER_11: But I, you know, I I don't hate his stuff enough to say it was the worst song ever.
- 58:41SPEAKER_11: So I'm kind of like looking through um my collection here, and you know, I would have said something like um Pink Floyd.
- 58:55SPEAKER_11: I liked Pink Floyd, but there are songs from Pink Floyd that are just Oh, just yeah.
- 58:59SPEAKER_09: Um I think I think if if hell had a soundtrack, it would be Neil Young, Taylor Swift, Pink Floyd, and Yoko Ono.
- 59:36SPEAKER_11: For lack of a better choice, this is what I'm gonna say.
- 59:38SPEAKER_11: Okay, let's see.
- 59:39SPEAKER_11: Emily Floyd from Big Floyd.
- 59:41SPEAKER_11: Okay.
- 59:43SPEAKER_11: I don't hate this, but you wouldn't get sick of it if you're gonna be like I would.
- 59:47SPEAKER_11: I would.
- 59:54SPEAKER_11: Wait.
- 59:56SPEAKER_11: No, that's yeah, that's the beginning part of uh of uh Brick and the Wall.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_11: So yeah, I I guess I'll go with that because I can't I can't think of Yeah, I can't I couldn't either, but I would have thought of something like I don't I don't have it here, but like something like Piggies or something like from Pink Floyd.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_09: Uh oh I thought you meant the Beatles.
- 1:00:15SPEAKER_11: Was it was it?
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_09: Didn't Pink Floyd have one?
- 1:00:19SPEAKER_09: They might have, but I all I can think is uh I don't know, I think it was just called Pigs.
- 1:00:23SPEAKER_11: Because they had that whole album that was all animals and stuff.
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_11: Oh, Pink Floyd.
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_11: Pink Floyd, yeah.
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_09: Um I think the Beatles one was called Piggies.
- 1:00:31SPEAKER_09: I think you're right now that I now that I think about it.
- 1:00:33SPEAKER_11: But yeah.
- 1:00:34SPEAKER_11: Um I'll just go with that.
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_11: CM C Em Lee play from from Pink Floyd for lack of a better choice.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_11: And you're going with uh Revolution number nine again.
- 1:00:43SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 1:00:43SPEAKER_09: And Cousin Larry's going with Susudio.
- 1:00:45SPEAKER_09: Yes, you know, I like Susudio.
- 1:00:47SPEAKER_09: I love that song.
- 1:00:47SPEAKER_09: Yeah, me too.
- 1:00:49SPEAKER_11: Alright, so how about the future?
- 1:00:51SPEAKER_09: Now we need to Why'd I put it back?
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_09: I don't know.
- 1:00:55SPEAKER_09: Why am I still?
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_09: I don't know why you do the things you do.
- 1:00:57SPEAKER_09: I don't know.
- 1:00:58SPEAKER_09: I'm so stupid.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_09: Big stupid stupid head.
- 1:01:03SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 1:01:04SPEAKER_09: Alright, so here we go.
- 1:01:05SPEAKER_09: Uh new question.
- 1:01:07SPEAKER_09: Future question.
- 1:01:08SPEAKER_09: No, we already did that one.
- 1:01:10SPEAKER_09: How did I that's the second time I've done that.
- 1:01:12SPEAKER_09: Pick the question we've already done.
- 1:01:15SPEAKER_09: Are you not mixing it up enough?
- 1:01:17SPEAKER_09: Ooh, okay, this is a good one.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_09: Fog fills the battlefield.
- 1:01:23SPEAKER_09: Twenty of the bravest souls you know sit atop their war horses.
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_09: Your heartbeat thunders in your chest as the last charge across the battlefield begins.
- 1:01:33SPEAKER_09: What song plays during your final stand?
- 1:01:36SPEAKER_09: Oh, that's a good one.
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_09: That's a that's a thinker.
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 1:01:42SPEAKER_09: Alright.
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_11: So you're on the battlefield.
- 1:01:47SPEAKER_11: It sounds medieval, because it's a song that plays during your final chart.
- 1:01:52SPEAKER_09: Yes.
- 1:01:53SPEAKER_09: I'm gonna send this to Cousin Larry.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_11: That one popped in my head.
- 1:02:06SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 1:02:07SPEAKER_11: I might go with that.
- 1:02:09SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 1:02:18SPEAKER_11: I don't know.
- 1:02:18SPEAKER_11: I have to think about it.
- 1:02:19SPEAKER_11: And I know I say I have to think about it.
- 1:02:22SPEAKER_11: I won't think about it until the next time we record the thing.
- 1:02:24SPEAKER_09: I'm about to say we'll be sitting here next week and you'll go, I didn't come up with one yet.
- 1:02:29SPEAKER_10: I've done John Zellyon.
- 1:02:33SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_11: Alright, so that's mixtape for this week.
- 1:02:37SPEAKER_11: And we're gonna take a break.
- 1:02:39SPEAKER_11: And when we come back, we are gonna climb the wall of tunes.
- 1:02:42SPEAKER_11: Yeah, do other stuff.
- 1:02:43SPEAKER_11: We'll do other stuff.
- 1:02:44SPEAKER_09: Yeah, because that's what we do here.
- 1:02:46SPEAKER_09: Because we're old.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_09: Yeah, we are old.

- 1:04:53SPEAKER_11: So here I go.
- 1:04:55SPEAKER_09: Tiny German Angels.
- 1:04:57SPEAKER_09: That's what it is.
- 1:04:59SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 1:05:00SPEAKER_09: So this week's Beatles song is from the album with the Beatles.
- 1:05:05SPEAKER_02: Wait, which one?
- 1:05:07SPEAKER_09: With the Beatles.
- 1:05:08SPEAKER_02: They all have the Beatles.
- 1:05:10SPEAKER_09: This one's with the Beatles, with the Beatles.
- 1:05:12SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 1:05:13SPEAKER_09: It's called I'll Get You.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_09: I'll Get You was written by John and Paul together at John's House as a follow-up to From Me to You.
- 1:05:24SPEAKER_09: And then became the B-side of She Loves You, a song they wrote days later, but which they felt was better.
- 1:05:31SPEAKER_09: For Paul, who still regards this as one of his favorite Beatle tracks, the use of the word imagine evoked the beginning of a children's fairy tale and offered an invitation into a fictitious world.
- 1:05:57SPEAKER_09: Okay, speaking of that, one of the songs.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_09: Musical tricks, the shift from D to A minor to break the word pretend was taken from Joan by Ez's version of the traditional song All My Trials.
- 1:06:10SPEAKER_09: Interesting.
- 1:06:10SPEAKER_09: Interesting.
- 1:06:11SPEAKER_02: From D to A minor.
- 1:06:12SPEAKER_09: From D to A minor.
- 1:06:14SPEAKER_02: Keep reading.
- 1:06:15SPEAKER_09: Uh which was which which had been included on her debut album, Joan by Ed's.
- 1:06:21SPEAKER_09: Released as a single in America during 1963 and again in 1964, it never made the pop charts.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_09: Well, so there you go.
- 1:06:32unknown: Yes, I will.
- 1:06:33SPEAKER_06: I'll get you in the end.
- 1:06:36SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah.
- 1:06:38SPEAKER_11: Oh yeah.
- 1:06:38SPEAKER_11: So from D to E minor to A minor.
- 1:06:40SPEAKER_09: Hey, D to E minor.
- 1:06:42SPEAKER_09: That's D E minor.
- 1:06:46SPEAKER_11: That's kind of cool.
- 1:06:47SPEAKER_11: Yeah, it's a cool transition.
- 1:06:48SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 1:06:50SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 1:06:51SPEAKER_11: Very cool.
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_02: Um, okay.
- 1:06:54SPEAKER_02: Can we put this guitar back over there?
- 1:06:57SPEAKER_09: Alright.
- 1:06:58SPEAKER_09: Don't don't wreck it.
- 1:06:59SPEAKER_02: I'm trying not to.
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_02: Don't hurt it.
- 1:07:01SPEAKER_02: I'm trying not to.
- 1:07:02SPEAKER_09: Don't hurt him, Hammer.
- 1:07:04SPEAKER_02: Um I do have an album.
- 1:07:08SPEAKER_09: Alright.
- 1:07:09SPEAKER_02: So I'm gonna say the magic words.
- 1:07:12SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:07:12SPEAKER_02: Once I get my guitar.
- 1:07:16SPEAKER_09: You're gonna wreck stuff.
- 1:07:18SPEAKER_10: Get back in place there.
- 1:07:20SPEAKER_09: Get back in your hole!
- 1:07:23SPEAKER_11: Um I do have an album, I'm gonna say the magic words, which is which are abracadabra.
- 1:07:29SPEAKER_02: No.
- 1:07:29SPEAKER_09: Open says me.
- 1:07:30SPEAKER_09: Let the guessing begin.
- 1:07:33SPEAKER_09: Is it a band this time?
- 1:07:34SPEAKER_09: No.
- 1:07:35SPEAKER_09: Solo.
- 1:07:36SPEAKER_09: Solo.
- 1:07:36SPEAKER_09: Guy, girl, guy, guy, guy solo.
- 1:07:41SPEAKER_09: Guy Solo.
- 1:07:44SPEAKER_09: That's a great name.
- 1:07:46SPEAKER_09: Isn't that a band name now?
- 1:07:47SPEAKER_09: Guy Solo.
- 1:07:48SPEAKER_09: Guy Solo.
- 1:07:51SPEAKER_09: Guy Solo.
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_09: Good work.
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_09: Alright.
- 1:07:57SPEAKER_09: Uh Rockey.
- 1:07:58SPEAKER_09: Folk guy.
- 1:08:01SPEAKER_09: Rock guy.
- 1:08:02SPEAKER_09: Rock guy.
- 1:08:04SPEAKER_09: Is he still around?
- 1:08:05SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 1:08:06SPEAKER_09: What was the height of his popularity?
- 1:08:10SPEAKER_11: Um I will say.
- 1:08:13SPEAKER_11: Actually, I think I'm gonna say the 70s.
- 1:08:15SPEAKER_11: 70s?
- 1:08:16SPEAKER_11: Yeah, I think so.
- 1:08:16SPEAKER_09: Harry Jabin.
- 1:08:17SPEAKER_11: Nope.
- 1:08:20SPEAKER_11: Um I'm gonna say no.
- 1:08:23SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 1:08:25SPEAKER_09: Does he play an instrument?
- 1:08:27SPEAKER_11: He he does.
- 1:08:28SPEAKER_11: A couple.
- 1:08:28SPEAKER_11: Guitar, piano.
- 1:08:29SPEAKER_11: Okay.
- 1:08:30SPEAKER_11: He uh he did he was pretty big in the 80s too.
- 1:08:33SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 1:08:34SPEAKER_11: But I think he's I think most of his uh well I don't know.
- 1:08:40SPEAKER_11: Seventies and eighties, for sure.
- 1:08:42SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 1:08:44SPEAKER_09: Any like iconic songs or Yeah.
- 1:08:48SPEAKER_09: Yeah?
- 1:08:48SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:08:49SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 1:08:50SPEAKER_09: So he's still around.
- 1:08:51SPEAKER_11: Still around.
- 1:08:52SPEAKER_11: Hasn't uh I think the last album he put out was th four or five years ago.
- 1:08:56SPEAKER_11: Um and has he ever played with a band?
- 1:09:03SPEAKER_11: In a band?
- 1:09:03SPEAKER_11: I don't think so.
- 1:09:04SPEAKER_11: Well, I mean, like I'm sure he's tore with a band.
- 1:09:07SPEAKER_09: Yeah, when he was younger, but uh He was never part of like a super group or anything like that.
- 1:09:11SPEAKER_11: No one of my favorite lyricists just great lyrics.
- 1:09:22SPEAKER_11: No I'm trying to think of what else I can tell you.
- 1:09:24SPEAKER_11: Um an example, and we may have done this guy before.
- 1:09:30SPEAKER_11: I don't even we may have done this album before.
- 1:09:32SPEAKER_11: Um He's one of those guys who can get to uh like he can write songs about relationships like nobody else.
- 1:09:46SPEAKER_11: It's poetry, pure poetry.
- 1:09:49SPEAKER_11: But he also gets, and this is where you're gonna get him.
- 1:09:52SPEAKER_11: He also can write which is very political um songs.
- 1:10:00SPEAKER_11: He's an activist, I would say.
- 1:10:03SPEAKER_11: Um, which is where and not that I'm against activism.
- 1:10:07SPEAKER_11: No.
- 1:10:08SPEAKER_11: Not that I'm against activism, but you kinda lose me sometimes.
- 1:10:11SPEAKER_11: Um because Mark Knoppler.
- 1:10:16SPEAKER_11: Nope.
- 1:10:18SPEAKER_11: Nope.
- 1:10:18SPEAKER_11: I just don't like uh overtly political things.
- 1:10:21SPEAKER_11: W whichever side it it's on.
- 1:10:24SPEAKER_11: Right.
- 1:10:24SPEAKER_11: You know.
- 1:10:25SPEAKER_11: But his he he can put out like a completely political album, and then the next album he puts out, it's all just mind-blowingly awesome songs about the heart.
- 1:10:37SPEAKER_11: You know.
- 1:10:39SPEAKER_11: He doesn't have let's see.
- 1:10:42SPEAKER_11: You're not gonna hear you you're only gonna hear a few of his songs uh on the radio.
- 1:10:50SPEAKER_11: Well, that's not true.
- 1:10:51SPEAKER_11: That's not true.
- 1:10:52SPEAKER_11: You hear a lot of his songs on the radio, but they're not like um about this.
- 1:11:01SPEAKER_11: They're cult classics.
- 1:11:04SPEAKER_11: I think his biggest hit was from a movie soundtrack.
- 1:11:14SPEAKER_11: No.
- 1:11:16SPEAKER_11: The movie soundtrack was Fast Times Original High.
- 1:11:22SPEAKER_09: Oh, it's Jackson Brown.
- 1:11:24SPEAKER_11: It is Jackson Brown.
- 1:11:25SPEAKER_11: That is somebody's baby.
- 1:11:27SPEAKER_11: Somebody's somebody's baby.
- 1:11:30SPEAKER_11: Um, so this.
- 1:11:32SPEAKER_11: Did we do this?
- 1:11:34SPEAKER_11: Does it look familiar?
- 1:11:36SPEAKER_09: I don't think so.
- 1:11:36SPEAKER_09: I don't even think we've done Jackson Brown.
- 1:11:38SPEAKER_09: Really?
- 1:11:39SPEAKER_09: I don't think so.
- 1:11:39SPEAKER_11: Let me Well we I think we've done his his solo live.
- 1:11:42SPEAKER_11: Remember, we did uh we did do his uh acoustic album.
- 1:11:45SPEAKER_11: We may not have done it for the the Wall of Tunes, but we talked about it.
- 1:11:49SPEAKER_11: His acoustic albums.
- 1:11:50SPEAKER_11: Got a couple acoustic albums that are just him and his album.
- 1:11:52SPEAKER_09: Oh no, we have done it was like first season, as like because he's number three.
- 1:11:55SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:11:55SPEAKER_11: So it was a long time ago.
- 1:11:57SPEAKER_11: His solo account he's got two solo acoustic albums where it's just him and his guitar or just him and his piano, and it's incredible.
- 1:12:05SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 1:12:05SPEAKER_11: Um, so this is an album uh that came out in 1993.
- 1:12:14SPEAKER_11: Um and it's one of my favorite Jackson Brown albums.
- 1:12:18SPEAKER_11: Um it's called I'm Alive.
- 1:12:20SPEAKER_11: And it's one of those ones that there's really nothing political on it.
- 1:12:24SPEAKER_11: And I love Jackson Brown's writing.
- 1:12:27SPEAKER_11: Um I I I you lose me when you get overly overly political.
- 1:12:34SPEAKER_11: Um it's still great stuff, don't get me wrong.
- 1:12:38SPEAKER_11: Like Lives in the Balance is a great album.
- 1:12:40SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 1:12:41SPEAKER_11: Um, but I like because I can relate more to, you know, um Songs of the Heart.
- 1:12:48SPEAKER_11: Right.
- 1:12:49SPEAKER_11: So you may remember this was on the radio uh in 1993.
- 1:12:54SPEAKER_11: I don't know if it was a huge hit, but it was a hit.
- 1:12:59SPEAKER_11: This is the title track.
- 1:13:00SPEAKER_11: It's called I'm Alive.
- 1:14:15SPEAKER_11: Okay, so I'm gonna read you with some lyrics.
- 1:14:18SPEAKER_11: Um Let's see.
- 1:14:23SPEAKER_11: There's a song on there called Two of Me and Two of You.
- 1:14:27SPEAKER_11: There are two of me and two of you, two who have betrayed love and two who have been true, and together we went crashing through every bond and vow and faith we knew, me and the fool I've been, and the two of you.
- 1:14:40SPEAKER_11: Of the two of me, one always knew that I would always love you, whatever you might do.
- 1:14:46SPEAKER_11: And the more unfree and troubled you grew, I could feel the whole world splitting in two, trying to make the room for the two of you.
- 1:14:55SPEAKER_11: So like a fragile little child more than a little lost and wild, how the light would leave the sky when you cried and return again when you smiled, and how the light would invade and divide the darkness I have inside.
- 1:15:10SPEAKER_11: There were two of me and two of you searching for a passageway hidden from our view, and together we went crashing through in every bond and vow and faith we knew, me and the fool I've been and the two of you.
- 1:15:20SPEAKER_11: I mean it's poetry.
- 1:15:21SPEAKER_11: It's j it's um let me play you this one.
- 1:15:28SPEAKER_11: This is about 'cause he dated Daryl Hannah for a long time.
- 1:15:31SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 1:15:32SPEAKER_11: And this is about breaking up with Daryl Hannah.
- 1:15:38SPEAKER_11: Um This is one of my favorite Jackson Brown songs.
- 1:15:44SPEAKER_11: So I just want to read it a little bit and then I'll play a little bit.
- 1:15:47SPEAKER_11: In the calling out to one another of the lovers up and down the strand, in the sound of the waves and the cries of the seagulls circling the sand, and the fragments of the songs carried down the wind from some radio, in the murmuring of the city in the distance, ominous and low.
- 1:16:02SPEAKER_11: I hear the sound of the world where we played, and the far too simple beauty of the promises we made.
- 1:16:08SPEAKER_11: If you ever need holding, call my name, I'll be there.
- 1:16:10SPEAKER_11: If you ever need holding, and no holding back, I'll see you through sky, blue, and black.
- 1:16:16SPEAKER_11: Uh, let me just play a little bit because I thought you've heard that before.
- 1:16:21SPEAKER_11: Yeah, you probably have.
- 1:16:22SPEAKER_11: This was released as well.
- 1:16:26SPEAKER_04: In the calling out to one another and the lovers up and down the strand, in the sound of the waves, and the cries of the seagulls circling the sand, and the fragments of the songs carried down the wind from some radio.
- 1:16:43SPEAKER_04: In the murmuring of the city in the distance, I'm an ass and low.
- 1:16:49SPEAKER_04: I'm the sound of the word where we play.
- 1:16:54SPEAKER_04: And the fart too, simple beauty of the promises we make.
- 1:17:01SPEAKER_04: If you ever need Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:17:12SPEAKER_04: Have you ever need only back?
- 1:17:19SPEAKER_04: I see a flu Sky Blue and Black.
- 1:17:32SPEAKER_11: Okay, so I'm just want to read you just his lyrics are just poetry.
- 1:17:38SPEAKER_11: The end of this song, um, he starts singing, You're the color of the sky reflected in each storefront window pane.
- 1:17:47SPEAKER_11: You're the whispering and the sighing of my tires in the rain.
- 1:17:51SPEAKER_11: You're the hidden cost and the thing that's lost in everything I do.
- 1:17:54SPEAKER_11: Yeah, and I'll never stop looking for you.
- 1:17:57SPEAKER_11: In the sunlight and the shadows.
- 1:18:00SPEAKER_11: Um just in the faces of the avenue.
- 1:18:04SPEAKER_11: That's the way love is.
- 1:18:06SPEAKER_11: Sky, blue, and black.
- 1:18:08SPEAKER_11: It's it's just it's just pure poetry.
- 1:18:11SPEAKER_11: Um I'm gonna play one more.
- 1:18:13SPEAKER_11: Um my favorite song in this whole album, actually.
- 1:18:17SPEAKER_11: Um called Too Many Angels.
- 1:18:21SPEAKER_11: I love the music.
- 1:18:22SPEAKER_11: I love the lyrics.
- 1:18:24SPEAKER_11: Um I love everything about it.
- 1:18:27SPEAKER_11: There's an angel on a ribbon hanging from the armoire door.
- 1:18:31SPEAKER_11: There's a cupid with his feet crossed on the birdcage by the door.
- 1:18:35SPEAKER_11: There's a baby angel drummer, his eyes are open wide, and two more tiny cherubs on the mantle side by side.
- 1:18:42SPEAKER_11: Too many angels have seen me crying.
- 1:18:44SPEAKER_11: Too many angels have heard you lying.
- 1:18:47SPEAKER_11: Hmm.
- 1:18:48SPEAKER_11: Good stuff.
- 1:19:14SPEAKER_04: Hanging from the armor.
- 1:19:18SPEAKER_04: Executed with his feet on the bird cave.
- 1:19:24SPEAKER_04: There's a baby angel drummer.
- 1:19:27SPEAKER_04: His eyes are over.
- 1:19:30SPEAKER_04: Two more tiny chairs on the metal side by side.
- 1:19:47SPEAKER_04: Too many.
- 1:19:55SPEAKER_11: I mean, just the vibe of the song.
- 1:19:57SPEAKER_09: Well, it reminds me of a song you wrote.
- 1:19:59SPEAKER_11: Well, which one was that?
- 1:20:00SPEAKER_09: In the Heartland.
- 1:20:02SPEAKER_11: Musically, you mean?
- 1:20:03SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 1:20:04SPEAKER_11: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:20:05SPEAKER_09: There was no words to it.
- 1:20:06SPEAKER_09: Yeah, it was instrument.
- 1:20:07SPEAKER_09: But the music is very very very much like this.
- 1:20:10SPEAKER_11: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:20:11SPEAKER_11: Wow, I can't believe you remembered that.
- 1:20:12SPEAKER_11: That's cool.
- 1:20:13SPEAKER_11: Um, just I want you to hear this next verse.
- 1:20:17SPEAKER_11: Uh there are photographs.
- 1:20:19SPEAKER_11: This is just I love this.
- 1:20:20SPEAKER_11: And maybe maybe it's just me.
- 1:20:22SPEAKER_11: I mean, I don't know.
- 1:20:23SPEAKER_11: I just find this amazing.
- 1:20:24SPEAKER_11: There are photographs of children all in their silver frames, on the window sills and tabletops lit by candle flames.
- 1:20:33SPEAKER_11: And upon their angel faces, life's expectations climb, where the moment has preserved them from the ravage ravages of time.
- 1:20:42SPEAKER_11: Too many angels have seen you crying.
- 1:20:44SPEAKER_11: Too many ma uh angels have heard you lying.
- 1:20:47SPEAKER_11: And then he says, Bring the morning on.
- 1:20:49SPEAKER_11: I want to step out in the morning sun.
- 1:20:51SPEAKER_11: I want this darkness gone, these apparitions coming one by one, but there's no end in sight, only the dead of night, and too many angels.
- 1:20:58SPEAKER_11: Ugh just good stuff.
- 1:21:00SPEAKER_11: Stuff.
- 1:21:01SPEAKER_11: Good stuff.
- 1:21:02SPEAKER_11: That is Jackson Brown's 1993 album, I'm Alive.
- 1:21:05SPEAKER_11: And there are some upbeat tunes on there too.
- 1:21:08SPEAKER_09: Is there?
- 1:21:09SPEAKER_09: I don't want to know.
- 1:21:10SPEAKER_11: Get the wrong idea.

- 1:21:45SPEAKER_11: But so melodic and musical.
- 1:21:48SPEAKER_04: To love and get away before the walls have arisen.
- 1:21:52SPEAKER_04: We've got to be free.
- 1:21:56SPEAKER_04: But to go on attempting to break into the prison, you'd have to be me.

- 1:22:40SPEAKER_11: No, no, no, no.
- 1:22:41SPEAKER_11: No, but yeah, it's I mean, if you like just great poetic lyrics um that speak to the heart, that album.
- 1:22:51SPEAKER_11: I'm alive, Jackson Brown.
- 1:22:52SPEAKER_09: He used to write with Glenn Fry.
- 1:22:54SPEAKER_11: He did.
- 1:22:54SPEAKER_11: They wrote Take It Easy Together.

- 1:23:01SPEAKER_11: Running on Empty.
- 1:23:02SPEAKER_11: Running on Empty.
- 1:23:03SPEAKER_11: Doctor My Eyes.
- 1:23:04SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:23:04SPEAKER_09: Um It's Gotta Be Somebody's Baby.
- 1:23:06SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:23:06SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:23:07SPEAKER_11: All that stuff.
- 1:23:08SPEAKER_11: I would call those iconic songs.
- 1:23:09SPEAKER_11: Yeah, they're definitely iconic.
- 1:23:09SPEAKER_11: They're staples of rock radio and whatnot.
- 1:23:12SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah.
- 1:23:13SPEAKER_11: So there you go.
- 1:23:14SPEAKER_11: That is our wall of tunes.
- 1:23:15SPEAKER_09: Running on empty.
- 1:23:17SPEAKER_11: Uh, artist of the week, Jackson Brown.
- 1:23:20SPEAKER_11: I'm alive.
- 1:23:22SPEAKER_11: So that, my friends, is episode 213.
- 1:23:26SPEAKER_11: No, it's not.
- 1:23:27SPEAKER_11: Yes.
- 1:23:27SPEAKER_11: Yes.
- 1:23:28SPEAKER_11: Oh, I always forget.
- 1:23:30SPEAKER_11: Well, it's because it's new.
- 1:23:32SPEAKER_11: It is new.
- 1:23:32SPEAKER_11: We've only done it twice.
- 1:23:33SPEAKER_11: Yes.
- 1:23:34SPEAKER_11: Right.
- 1:23:34SPEAKER_11: Okay, so you're So Brian and Doug's homeschool circle.

- 1:23:38SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 1:23:39SPEAKER_11: Okay, so what is the assignment this week?
- 1:23:41SPEAKER_09: Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.
- 1:23:43SPEAKER_11: Ooh, Gordon Lightfoot.
- 1:23:44SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:23:44SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 1:23:45SPEAKER_09: Now, half the day is going to be spent listening to the song.
- 1:23:48SPEAKER_11: Right.
- 1:23:49SPEAKER_09: So you know.
- 1:23:51SPEAKER_11: That's true.
- 1:23:52SPEAKER_09: It's a nine minute, eight, nine-minute song.
- 1:23:54SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 1:23:55SPEAKER_09: So I mean there's Is it?
- 1:23:56SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I think so.
- 1:23:57SPEAKER_11: I thought it was like six minutes.
- 1:23:58SPEAKER_09: Oh, could be.
- 1:23:58SPEAKER_09: I don't know.
- 1:23:58SPEAKER_11: It's still long.
- 1:23:59SPEAKER_09: It feels long.
- 1:24:00SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 1:24:00SPEAKER_09: Because it's because it's basically the same thing over and over.
- 1:24:02SPEAKER_11: I was going to say it's fairly repetitive.
- 1:24:04SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 1:24:04SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 1:24:05SPEAKER_11: So.
- 1:24:05SPEAKER_09: But but it's an actual event.
- 1:24:07SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 1:24:08SPEAKER_09: I think the, you know, they could uh they could research and discuss.
- 1:24:12SPEAKER_11: So our our homeschool listeners, you know who you are.
- 1:24:15SPEAKER_09: Um I'm not sure they're listening.
- 1:24:17SPEAKER_09: They're probably like tuning us out now.
- 1:24:19SPEAKER_09: I do know.
- 1:24:20SPEAKER_11: So uh they do listen to us.
- 1:24:22SPEAKER_11: Okay.
- 1:24:22SPEAKER_11: Oh, yeah.
- 1:24:22SPEAKER_11: I'll just check it.
- 1:24:23SPEAKER_11: Yeah, on a regular basis.
- 1:24:24SPEAKER_11: So yes, uh, so your assignment is Gordon Lightfoot's The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.
- 1:24:29SPEAKER_11: Yes.
- 1:24:29SPEAKER_11: Listen to the song and research The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.
- 1:24:34SPEAKER_09: All right.
- 1:24:34SPEAKER_09: Oh, also the new striper album.
- 1:24:38SPEAKER_09: Speaking of striper, you're a little bit more.
- 1:24:39SPEAKER_11: Oh yeah, we talked about that off mic, but we're not.
- 1:24:42SPEAKER_09: But it's very good.
- 1:24:43SPEAKER_11: When we were kings.
- 1:24:44SPEAKER_11: When we were kings, yes.
- 1:24:45SPEAKER_09: It's very I I I don't know.
- 1:24:47SPEAKER_09: I think it I think um I think we are living in end times because I think the albums are staying good because God has tried to bring people to him through heavy metal.
- 1:25:02SPEAKER_09: Through heavy metal.
- 1:25:03SPEAKER_09: Well, I mean, you know, that's that's the audience, man.
- 1:25:06SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 1:25:06SPEAKER_11: That's true.
- 1:25:07SPEAKER_09: You know, a lot of people listen to Stryper but don't know God.
- 1:25:11SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 1:25:11SPEAKER_09: You listen to Stryper, and you know, he's like, hey, feed him.
- 1:25:15SPEAKER_11: Yeah.
- 1:25:16SPEAKER_09: It's getting close.
- 1:25:16SPEAKER_09: It's getting to be time.
- 1:25:17SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:25:18SPEAKER_09: All right.
- 1:25:18SPEAKER_09: You gotta choose a side.
- 1:25:20SPEAKER_11: Get right.
- 1:25:21SPEAKER_09: So I think that I think that's why they're all their albums in the last like 10 years have been amazing.
- 1:25:26SPEAKER_09: They've been amazing albums.
- 1:25:27SPEAKER_09: Yeah, so yeah.
- 1:25:28SPEAKER_09: And this one's no exception.
- 1:25:30SPEAKER_11: So check it out, man.
- 1:25:32SPEAKER_11: Good to know when we were kings from Striper.
- 1:25:35SPEAKER_11: And that then is episode 212.
