- 0:00Um.
- 0:03Jasmine, oolong, green
- 0:06and white. Long ago, these four
- 0:08teas were skilfully brewed at the Blissful Brew.
- 0:12Then everything changed when the shop's
- 0:14popularity threatened its existence.
- 0:17All Mr. Okuron, the shop's owner and tea
- 0:20master, could do was to recruit four teenage
- 0:23orphans to learn his trade and staff his
- 0:26shop. A year has passed since the orphans were
- 0:28hired, and although their skills have progressed, they
- 0:31still have a lot to learn before they can brew anything.
- 0:34But I believe that they have the potential to make the
- 0:37Blissful Brew the greatest tea shop in the
- 0:39world. Last
- 0:42time on Benders and Brews an Avatar
- 0:45legends podcast.
- 0:47Uh, you're currently on the pirate ship, and
- 0:50suddenly you spot a massive
- 0:53creature swimming towards the ship in the distance.
- 0:56It is a massive gator shark. You
- 0:59look around, all of you look around. You see a variety of different things
- 1:02that you could possibly use as weapons nets,
- 1:04harpoons. Do you have bows and arrows? The
- 1:07grappling harpoon. There are cannons. Can I
- 1:10load the harpoons into the cannon? And he runs. Uh,
- 1:13wait a minute. Captain's Cord Grower
- 1:16opens the wardrobe and picks out a funny hat. I
- 1:19will fire the cannon, swimming
- 1:21intensely towards the boat. And he
- 1:24slams into the side of the ship, causing a massive
- 1:27hole to open up inside the hole. So my
- 1:30goal is to end up on top of
- 1:33them, grab a couple more harpoons. So I
- 1:35grab the harpoons and leave
- 1:38off the boat as I will take the two
- 1:41harpoons and just excalibur them
- 1:44nice. Into his neck. It thrashes in the
- 1:47water a couple of times. It finally just gives
- 1:50up. Welcome back, everybody, to
- 1:53another episode of, uh, Benders and Ruse. We're on
- 1:56episode nine, coming towards the close of
- 1:59season two. How exciting is that, guys? Uh, we're
- 2:02sitting in the studio. What?
- 2:03It's kind of disappointing.
- 2:05Why do you why do you say it's disappointing?
- 2:07Well, we're coming to the end.
- 2:08Oh, yeah, great. Yeah, that's true. It's always kind of, like,
- 2:11beautiful. That's true.
- 2:16Uh, with me today is the full cast and
- 2:18crew of the show that you all know and love, uh,
- 2:21and we're all going to give some interesting character
- 2:24facts, um, starting with Connor,
- 2:26aka Brock Lee. Yeah. Well,
- 2:29something we recently discovered this last week is that, uh,
- 2:32Brock is extremely gullible. And,
- 2:35uh, if he's told one thing, he
- 2:38takes it at face value. He takes anything absolutely
- 2:41literally. Um,
- 2:44yeah. Uh, he missed a couple of shifts at
- 2:47the Blissful Brew, uh, when Bill
- 2:50had told him that, oh, you have today off.
- 2:53And so Brock just took him at his word and did not show
- 2:56up. And he just missed it. And Mr. O'Connor got
- 2:59super upset. He's like, Where is
- 3:01Brock? Why is he just abandoned his
- 3:04yeah, yeah. I've got a feeling that's what Mr.
- 3:07Okaron probably said. I couldn't, uh, he was
- 3:09furious. Yeah. He was probably
- 3:12not too pleased, uh, with the old Brockster, he was
- 3:15on toilet duty for quite a while after that,
- 3:18and Bill obviously saw how much he hated toilet duty
- 3:21and now he's used his guyly ways
- 3:24to find all sorts of methods to force
- 3:27Brock into doing the toilet duty as much as
- 3:31yep, yep. Dave, aka guo,
- 3:34who doesn't ever get toilet duty because it somehow gets
- 3:37passed between Bill and Brock so often. Yeah,
- 3:39it's a real shame.
- 3:42Guo's just like, oh man, like I've always
- 3:45wanted to try cleaning, uh,
- 3:48I don't know, didn't,
- 3:51uh, I get stuck.
- 3:52On bathroom duty for a month?
- 3:54Well, come say come stop. If I remember correctly,
- 3:57uh, you were always on bathroom duty because you were the
- 4:00only female staff member at the shop and therefore had to
- 4:03do this.
- 4:04But I thought we made a bet.
- 4:06There was a bet going on. That's true. Yeah, you and Bill did have
- 4:09a bet going and it was for yelling. Yeah, bill had to wear
- 4:11a wig to clean
- 4:14the
- 4:18ah. What's? What's? Bo's. Interesting fact for this
- 4:21week, Guo. So he has that
- 4:24system of food reviews he leaves. Yeah, uh,
- 4:27the hieroglyphs or whatever you want to call
- 4:30them for. Uh, he's got that food
- 4:32journal that he writes his own reviews
- 4:35in, but he writes other stuff in that journal.
- 4:38Uh, like he'll try to draw the restaurant
- 4:41sometimes, but he's not the best at that,
- 4:43so sometimes he tries to paint word
- 4:46pictures, maybe in the form of a
- 4:48haiku. Oh, he's
- 4:51very artistic, which makes a lot of sense
- 4:54coming out of the circuit or carnival.
- 4:57Right, yeah.
- 5:00Awesome. Well, we'll keep that in mind in
- 5:02case, uh, you had some limericks
- 5:05or some haikus coming our way then.
- 5:09Cameron, aka. Bill?
- 5:11Uh, what's bill's? Interesting fact bill,
- 5:15uh, since he is the waiter
- 5:17of the Blissful Brew, he will get the
- 5:20occasional talk it
- 5:23to people who ask him questions about his personal life.
- 5:26Mhm, which Bill doesn't really mind. Um,
- 5:29so every single new
- 5:32person, he just tells a brand new story to
- 5:36real stories or fake, fake, total fake
- 5:38stories.
- 5:39He's a liar.
- 5:40And it all actually didn't start
- 5:43with them, it actually mostly started with
- 5:45Brock, uh, because he found out through a
- 5:48few trial and errors that Brock is very,
- 5:51uh, literal, uh, and will take anything Bill says for
- 5:54face value. So Bill has told him multiple different
- 5:57stories and each time Brock just keeps falling for it.
- 6:00And so he's like, wait, I wonder if I can do this to more people. So now he does it to
- 6:03patrons. He finds out when people are, uh,
- 6:06waiting for food and drink, they'll just listen to anything
- 6:09and they'll believe anything you say.
- 6:12It's true. I mean, if they don't know you. Exactly.
- 6:15So he's from every
- 6:17nation, he's all benders in
- 6:20one he's the last Avatar, but also wasn't
- 6:23an Avatar. He met the avatar. But
- 6:26convincing people you're the last Avatar, or well,
- 6:29the Avatar is dangerous game to play in the current
- 6:32climate of things. True. I'm also the avatar of
- 6:34Teas. One, uh, guy really believed me on
- 6:37that one. Sure. I said I got a mean t. Four t
- 6:40concoction. Which is ironic. You don't
- 6:43even exactly. That's why bill really mr. Ogron is
- 6:46100% the tea. I thought that one was funny. Yeah,
- 6:49that's Bill's fun, uh, fact. Interesting. He's a liar.
- 6:52He's a compulsive liar. He's a compulsive
- 6:54liar. Some would say it's a fiber, but I don't think
- 6:57it's that. Ah.
- 7:01Uh, I met the avatar
- 7:08Michaela AK. Mika. What's the interesting
- 7:11fact this time around?
- 7:12Mika is very blunt, but I feel like everybody already knows
- 7:15that. Well, maybe not very blunt,
- 7:18but she's not very nice.
- 7:20How is she not nice?
- 7:21Well, Mika
- 7:24likes know when she's know
- 7:27going on know meandering in the know with her
- 7:30dad or whatever. Um, she likes
- 7:33to have water in her
- 7:36mouth and she'll just make fun shapes.
- 7:38Oh, interesting. Okay, I was
- 7:41going to say like bilbo smoke and dandelion smoking
- 7:44pipes, but instead it's with like water.
- 7:46Yeah, that works.
- 7:49It comes out of your water skin and
- 7:52you do some
- 7:57drink, turn it into a big circle and then
- 8:00jump through it. So when she spits
- 8:03for fun, it's fine. Brock spits
- 8:05for fun? Oh, no, call
- 8:08the cops on this.
- 8:11Know it's more cute when Mika does it. She does fun
- 8:13shapes at least.
- 8:15I mean, Brock can make a pretty
- 8:18cool looking spit wad.
- 8:21It's impressive in its
- 8:24probably with mean.
- 8:27He spits it into the dust to make like little
- 8:29pellets. Little pellets? So he could take
- 8:32potshots because he.
- 8:33Sleeps on a rock bed. Does he eat rocks too?
- 8:36Oh, he eats for intimidation cabbage
- 8:39almost exclusively. That's fun fact. Yeah.
- 8:43Awesome. Uh, my name is Skyler. I'm the dungeon master,
- 8:46or game master rather. This isn't Dungeons and Dragons.
- 8:49Uh, but you guys have gone, or at least some of you have gone in a
- 8:52dungeon to whatever extent you want to define
- 8:55that. So definitely, um, a possibility. My fun
- 8:58fact is that I convinced a lady
- 9:01in Minneapolis that I was a
- 9:04professional photographer. Ironically, before
- 9:06I was a professional photographer. So if she's
- 9:09listening right now out there, uh, in
- 9:12uh, the great city of Minneapolis, I made
- 9:15it. There you go. Confidence right there.
- 9:18All right, let's kick things off. Uh,
- 9:23welcome back to another episode of of Vendors Brews. Uh, we're jumping into the
- 9:26story. Last time you guys were on the
- 9:29pirate ship, which was being attacked
- 9:32by a great gator
- 9:34shark creature and you guys
- 9:37assisted and yes, that's
- 9:40a fantastic drawing of gator shark. Um,
- 9:44thank you, Michaela. And, uh, you guys are able
- 9:46to fend it off, uh, narrowly. So it
- 9:49rammed into the ship a couple of times, probably broke a couple
- 9:52of things down there, but all things considered, you're still
- 9:55afloat. Everybody seems happy you've had over the
- 9:58last couple of hours, they've sort of processed
- 10:01this gator shark while they continue
- 10:04to sail for Udao, which is your current goal at
- 10:07the moment. Uh, looking for somebody
- 10:09named
- 10:12Mayu Yinyu. Thank you.
- 10:15Very, uh good. Very good. Yes. Mayu Yinyu,
- 10:18who in your last sort of clue from Mr.
- 10:21Okaran and your little search for his
- 10:23will, he, uh, had mentioned having an old friend in the
- 10:26city of Yudao named Mayu Yinyu, and
- 10:29he would be able to get you to whatever the next
- 10:32thing is that you're looking for. Um,
- 10:35currently you guys are on this
- 10:37pirate ship and in the distance.
- 10:40I would assume that you guys probably rest for the rest of the night
- 10:43if you guys have any conditions or any exhaustion. Wait, did
- 10:46we just finish, uh, speeding this gator
- 10:49shark? Yes. And that was just as you guys were kind
- 10:52of getting dinner finished up, so it's kind of getting
- 10:54late anyways. Um,
- 10:58unless there's anything that you want to do, I would assume that you guys are
- 11:00headed to sleep. How am I going to
- 11:03sleep with no rocks
- 11:07to be the Captain?
- 11:10Is Brock going to bring us all rock beds?
- 11:13Well, uh, how am I going to sleep if there's no rocks?
- 11:16Well, there doesn't the captain have a stack of rocks?
- 11:19Not anymore, there really
- 11:21isn't, uh, any rocks because you're on a
- 11:24boat in the middle of the ocean, and rocks and water
- 11:27don't usually go together super well. Rocks not going to
- 11:30be able to sleep. Rocket is a
- 11:33strange sensation, having the ground beneath you
- 11:36moving constantly as you attempt to
- 11:38fall asleep. For sure.
- 11:42It's difficult. Uh, Guo, what
- 11:45were you saying about wanting to be the Captain, pretend
- 11:48to be the captain? Uh, well,
- 11:50Guo is just walking around the ship or clomping around the
- 11:53ship because he took the
- 11:56captain sack and bended the
- 11:59bag of rocks yes. Into
- 12:01two rock peg legs.
- 12:05It's not even just one leg is gone. You have
- 12:08both legs. I mean, they're there. They're
- 12:11just covered in rocks. Uh, do me a push your
- 12:14luck as you make your way around the
- 12:16ship, trying to make what some might see as a joke
- 12:19and others might be greatly offended. He
- 12:22also has the bigger
- 12:25fancier hat. Yeah, that's right. Uh,
- 12:28that you took from the chest.
- 12:33It's going to be
- 12:35five. It is not taken well by
- 12:38the crew. Maybe it's because of the fact that,
- 12:41uh, the gator shark that had bit off
- 12:44the captain's leg, uh,
- 12:47it's been slaughtered. But everything's pretty fresh in
- 12:50people's minds, and you are getting a lot of frowns right
- 12:53now from people who are looking at you as
- 12:55though, uh, this is not the time.
- 13:00Tough crowd.
- 13:03Um, you think they'd take it easy on a, uh,
- 13:06disabled guy?
- 13:11He's like, disabled.
- 13:14Whatever the case. Uh, like
- 13:17I said, you guys get some rest. Uh, is, uh,
- 13:20there any other shenanigans that are going on?
- 13:22No. No. Okay.
- 13:28Hey, everyone. Skyler your friendly neighborhood game master
- 13:31here. Unfortunately, due to some technical issues, a
- 13:33chunk of the episode got lost somewhere out in
- 13:36cyberspace. But thankfully, it was only a small chunk
- 13:39that I'll just quickly summarize, uh, so that we can get back to the
- 13:42show. So, after waking up the next morning, the ship
- 13:45approaches the city of Yudao and begins pulling into the
- 13:48docks, where they plan to leave the ship and our gang,
- 13:51along with a group of pirates led by the captain, who will follow
- 13:54them ashore and continue to seek out the alleged
- 13:56treasure. Of course, our heroes don't want these tag
- 13:59alongs, and so they decide to leap off the rear of the ship
- 14:02into the waters below and swim themselves the short distance
- 14:05to the wooden ship docks, awaiting for, um, him. And
- 14:08that is where we're going to pick back up.
- 14:14All right, so all of you manage to reach the
- 14:16docks. You pull yourself up out of the water. Uh, there's an
- 14:19old fisherman looking dude, but not so much old. I don't
- 14:22know, maybe middle aged. Just, uh, kind of sitting there fishing.
- 14:25He's looking at all of you as you pull yourself up from the dock, and he
- 14:28just goes, oh, I ain't never seen fish
- 14:31like you before. Oh, where did y'all
- 14:34swim in from? And
- 14:36Gohan quickly ducks down, pulling
- 14:39Dilbert out of his satchel,
- 14:42placing him on his head as
- 14:45a turtle squid hat
- 14:53man, like, throws his, uh, fishing
- 14:56rod into the air. Terrified, um,
- 14:58clutches his bucket of fish and jumps into the water.
- 15:02Where are you going? He just
- 15:04is aggressively one handed swimming away with his bucket
- 15:07of fish.
- 15:09Fish are swimming away because they're still.
- 15:12Yeah, he probably lost a couple of them.
- 15:14Just takes Dilbert off his head.
- 15:17Good one, Dilbert.
- 15:20All right, where are you guys headed now that, uh, you've managed to get
- 15:23away from the pirates for now? Into town. Into
- 15:26town?
- 15:27Yeah, we're going to find, like, the square or
- 15:30something where he can go. Can
- 15:33stand in the mound with circus tricks,
- 15:38remember? She's going to come find us, take
- 15:40the work out of it.
- 15:41She has no idea we're here.
- 15:44I'm, um, sure she hears a story about a circus, man.
- 15:46She'll be curious about it.
- 15:48When to be festered to go to her.
- 15:50We don't even know who she is or where she's at.
- 15:52Know her name. Yeah, we can just ask around.
- 15:55I feel like stay in one spot,
- 15:58draw intention.
- 16:02Like, if you get lost in the woods, you stay in one spot. But that
- 16:05means someone's looking for you. She's not looking for
- 16:08us. Well, actually, there are people looking for us.
- 16:11Yeah, actually, yeah. We should not stay in one spot. Yeah,
- 16:14that's even better idea. We got to move.
- 16:17Yeah, let's just go into town, start
- 16:20asking names as we go, and then when we find where
- 16:23she is, we can hide there. Because they don't know who we're looking for. Right.
- 16:26Uh, I think they just
- 16:29know that our key treasure is
- 16:32somewhere here. They think the treasure is here?
- 16:34Yeah. Nobody had told them the name of My.
- 16:37We never told them that we're going for another clue. Well,
- 16:40Brock kind of alluded to the idea with
- 16:45My best friend, um, that, uh, there was
- 16:48a series of clues, but you never saw what the next one was.
- 16:51Right. Exactly. Or what you guys were looking for for
- 16:54this one. Which is why they wanted to keep you guys
- 16:57because they wanted you to help them find it. So
- 17:00let's just run in, start asking her. All right. So you
- 17:02guys quickly find the square, per se. The big
- 17:05bustling area. The, uh, docks themselves are pretty
- 17:08bustling, but, um, you manage to sneak through.
- 17:11The crowds are very useful in kind of sneaking past the
- 17:14possibility of the pirates kind of watching you disappear into the
- 17:17city. And, um, now that you've disappeared into the city, you find yourselves
- 17:20in the squares bustling people going to and
- 17:23from work, um, small
- 17:26shops along the way. One thing that you start to
- 17:29notice is that, uh, there's
- 17:31definitely become a very heavy Fire Nation
- 17:34population in the area. Uh, you see Fire Nation
- 17:37guards, you see businessmen and business women
- 17:39wearing Fire Nation, the red garb with
- 17:42the little flame insignia on them. Um,
- 17:46it seems like a normal city for the most part.
- 17:49Everybody seems, for the most part, happy. They seem
- 17:52like they're going about their normal business. Uh, but you just
- 17:55notice that a lot of what's going on around
- 17:58here has to do with the Fire Nation, which is a little OD, given
- 18:00that you're in Earth Kingdom City. Just something to point
- 18:03out. Um, is there anybody that you
- 18:06would like to try to ask about? Mayuyendio
- 18:09m maybe a shopkeeper? Maybe just a
- 18:12random passerby? Uh, maybe somebody
- 18:15like, uh, a, uh, know, putting
- 18:17some, uh, wood board, nailing it to a house or
- 18:20fixing up a window? Uh, anyone in
- 18:23particular that you're looking to ask? One of the Fire Nation guard?
- 18:26Older shopkeeper. An older shopkeeper? Yeah. Is there
- 18:29any other tea shops or
- 18:32herbal ingredient shops? Uh, yeah,
- 18:35like an older person. You do see another tea, uh,
- 18:38shop. Notice the decorations
- 18:41on it look a little bit gaudy as you come at it from the side.
- 18:44And then you kind of come around to the front of it and
- 18:47the sign above the door
- 18:49reads Hot Leaf Juice Company.
- 18:58Later we'll get to that. All right? You approach it and
- 19:01inside you see a fairly young
- 19:03staff. They're, uh, all wearing I believe it was like pink
- 19:06is their kind of primary color that they use.
- 19:09They're all wearing pink aprons and they're
- 19:12all very slick back. Uh, they all kind of look
- 19:15odly the same. They
- 19:18look like they're individual people. They're different and such. But
- 19:21their hair is all kind of slicked back in the same
- 19:23way. Um, they look very neutrally
- 19:26gendered in a sense. So you'd
- 19:29almost have to double take to tell if somebody was like, biologically
- 19:32female or male, per se, um, that kind of thing. It
- 19:35just kind of throws you off a little bit that they almost look like clones of each other
- 19:38to some extent, um, with the
- 19:41exception of some facial differences.
- 19:43Or one of them has, like, freckles and
- 19:47one of them has a big nose or something like that, stuff like
- 19:49that. But whatever the case, you approach the front counter or
- 19:52maybe one of the servers. Anyone in particular?
- 19:55Or an older person that works there. Everyone here
- 19:58seems fairly young. A little
- 20:01bit older than you guys, but not much.
- 20:04What about an old person who's drinking
- 20:06tea? Sure, there's plenty of those there. Um,
- 20:09you see a variety. Um,
- 20:12a handful of Earth Nation, uh,
- 20:15dressed individuals wearing the kind of traditional green or
- 20:18maybe brown garb, depending on how wealthy
- 20:21they might be. Um, and then you definitely see some
- 20:24older Fire Nation individuals. You don't see a whole lot of
- 20:27guards in this place. But the people that you do see that are Fire Nation
- 20:30related, uh, they look to be like, maybe like nobles of
- 20:33some kind or whatever the case. Any of
- 20:36them playing, uh,
- 20:39Bill go go insert yourself into their
- 20:42pie show conversation. You do this all the time with old
- 20:45timers. You go in looking for
- 20:48a person. I don't need to play a full game. You don't got to play a
- 20:51game, but that's how you get in. That's how you get in
- 20:53the conversation. I'll go over to some
- 20:56Earthbenders wait, before I do, I'm going to go,
- 20:59hey, what was the lady's name again?
- 21:02Mayu Yinyu. Yeah, what he
- 21:04said. Mayu Yinyu. Yeah. Okay, so I'm going to
- 21:07walk over to some Earth bends or Earth,
- 21:11uh, older Earth people from the Earth
- 21:13Nation. And, uh, I'm going to examine
- 21:16the board as I walk up to it. Okay. He's on
- 21:19wikihow right now. I'm trying to find out
- 21:22the other names, like the names for other
- 21:24pieces. Okay. Because obviously there's more than just
- 21:27the white lotus tile. Oh, I
- 21:30was just going to walk up and be like, hey, just in case
- 21:33that came up. Hey, uh, they look really focused on their
- 21:36game, but you should make this move. Oh, okay.
- 21:39Actually, I don't think they would like that. But I don't know
- 21:42why I would do that, uh, knowing older people.
- 21:45Okay. But actually, I will go walk up instead of
- 21:48doing that because I wouldn't like that. I'm going to walk up and just be like, hey,
- 21:51close game you got there. I was going to say, do
- 21:54you want to assess, um, the situation? Sure, I'll assess to
- 21:57see who's winning. Yeah, I was going to say just to see how much you can gauge. No
- 22:00idea. Okay, you
- 22:02walk up and you say, close game. And both of them
- 22:05pause, holding the first piece that they have to put
- 22:08onto the table. And they look at you and they're
- 22:11like, um, I guess it
- 22:13could be m
- 22:18what you make it. I mean, since
- 22:20two seasoned Pie Show players like
- 22:23yourselves, it's going to be a close game.
- 22:26One of them kind of looks at the other one and says
- 22:29he's making predictions because he can see that we
- 22:32are seasoned players. And the other one says,
- 22:34oh, yes, that is very
- 22:37impressive. That's a whole other skill set
- 22:40than just playing the game and being good at it. It's knowing
- 22:43your opponent that's half the battle. I mean,
- 22:45back where I'm from, I play Pi Show with a bunch of, uh,
- 22:49people and uh, most of the
- 22:52ones I have trouble beating are
- 22:54players like yourselves. Uh,
- 22:57and uh, the one that didn't speak first last time, he
- 23:00leans forward, he says, I think he's calling us old.
- 23:03And he says, we are quite weathered,
- 23:06aren't uh,
- 23:09wise.
- 23:12My name's Gray and this is my
- 23:14associate, Foe.
- 23:17And both of them kind of motion for you to sit with them
- 23:20and they're like, so you're knowledgeable about the
- 23:23game? Would you like to sit and watch us play?
- 23:26Uh, first of all, my name is Bill. Oh, nice
- 23:29to meet you. But I can't stay long.
- 23:32We're here looking for someone and I
- 23:35was hoping that you two gentlemen could be able to point us in the
- 23:38right direction for this person. Okay. They're both still kind of
- 23:41holding their pieces over the board.
- 23:44They're really attentive to what you're saying. I'm just kind of painting the
- 23:47picture. They're just waiting. Um,
- 23:50who are you looking for?
- 23:53Me? Yin Yao. Was that it? Just
- 23:56from across the room? My Yu Yin.
- 23:59Yu
- 24:02Mink. Yeah. Just like my yu yin.
- 24:05Excuse me? My Yu Yin Yu. And as you
- 24:08say that name, they drop the
- 24:11piece. The pieces just kind of slide out of their
- 24:13hands and they both have kind of these gaping open
- 24:16mouths and they quickly look around.
- 24:19Um, it's a good thing that you didn't actually shout.
- 24:24They, uh, look around very frantically and they grab your arm and
- 24:27they pull you into the seat and they kind of lean in and
- 24:30they say, I don't know where you're
- 24:33from, but it is not wise
- 24:35to shout the name Mayu Yinyu
- 24:39when the Fire Nation is uh,
- 24:42okay, why
- 24:46you're asking about him? But you don't even know him.
- 24:49Well, I was sent to talk to him.
- 24:53His name was Okaron. And
- 24:56one of them is like Okaron.
- 24:59I think I remember Okaron. Uh,
- 25:02he was the traveling team merchant
- 25:04Grey. Oh, you're right. Foe he
- 25:07was oh, he was a very nice man. He played
- 25:10pie show with us. Yes, he was very good. He
- 25:13was very good indeed. Uh, I think he beat you,
- 25:16but, uh, I managed to beat him.
- 25:19Hold on, a second there. I'm pretty sure I managed to
- 25:22beat what I also beat me,
- 25:25but that's besides the point. What I need is, uh,
- 25:29of grave importance that we find
- 25:32this my
- 25:34you. I'm just shortening. So they Fire
- 25:37Nation and they start to kind of, like, whisper to you and they're
- 25:40like, look, uh, Bill, if you're
- 25:43an associate of Mr. Oberon, then there's
- 25:47no reason not to help you. Uh, he's a good man, and
- 25:50I believe he's close friends with Mayu. I
- 25:53believe he mentioned something about him performing at
- 25:56some event he was doing or something like that. But, uh,
- 25:59it's fairly important that you not speak that
- 26:01name loudly or much at all in
- 26:04public. He is an entertainer, uh,
- 26:07of sorts, uh, very well known in these parts.
- 26:10Musician, uh, actor, I think, a
- 26:13little bit. I don't know what these kids are up to these days, whatever
- 26:16the case. Uh, but he's also a
- 26:18leading member of the local
- 26:22rescue, uh, team squadron here
- 26:25in Udao.
- 26:28Uh, rescue from what? Look around
- 26:31you. Can't you tell? I see fire, Nation. What are they
- 26:34doing? Looks like they're just patrolling the area. Uh,
- 26:37they are integrating into our city,
- 26:40taking it over through sort of a
- 26:42cultural takeover.
- 26:46It's almost like a peaceful
- 26:49what would you say, foe.
- 26:55I'm not sure what it's called, but
- 26:57it's a strange new method of sort
- 27:00of integrating with the society
- 27:03that you're trying to push into
- 27:06submission. Gentrification.
- 27:08Yes. Gentrification Brock,
- 27:11of all.
- 27:19I ate a dictionary, and I came
- 27:21across
- 27:29boys. Correct. Just like waistbound over
- 27:31here. Gentrification. Yes.
- 27:34Uh, they've come in, uh, as
- 27:37ambassadors. They've started to integrate into the
- 27:40politics. They started enacting certain rules
- 27:43and laws that befit their
- 27:45purposes and their ideas. And, uh,
- 27:48they're starting to kind of push us
- 27:51Earth Nation citizens
- 27:53out. So what is the Rescue squad
- 27:56doing? They're trying to stop them and thwarting
- 27:59their plans, keeping them from bringing in some
- 28:02necessary supplies, giving the necessary
- 28:04supplies to those of us well, not
- 28:07us. And both gray and folk kind of chuckle a
- 28:09little bit. We're old men. There's not much we can do,
- 28:12per se, but, uh, stealing the
- 28:15supplies, giving it to their teams,
- 28:18distributing it to the other rescue team
- 28:21squadrons, uh, things along
- 28:24those lines, generally harassing the
- 28:27Fire Nation and keeping them from moving forward with
- 28:29a lot of their larger scale plans. Well, I'm all for
- 28:32stopping the Fire Nation, so could you
- 28:35give us any hints where we can find
- 28:39My You? If you are
- 28:41searching for my Yu Yinyu? My Yu
- 28:44Yinyu will find you.
- 28:49But we need to find him, like,
- 28:53sooner than later.
- 28:56Try the performance hall,
- 29:00the theater. The local theater. Yes. Is that near
- 29:03here? Yeah. Yes, absolutely. Uh, you won't
- 29:05miss it. It's quite unbeat. We put a lot
- 29:08of work into that theater.
- 29:11Okay, well, that's the place to start. We'll
- 29:14go there. Yes. Yes. Well,
- 29:17thank you, gentlemen and bill's going to stand up from
- 29:20his seat and, uh, reach to give them both a
- 29:22handshake. They shake your hand, and then,
- 29:25uh, just before you let go of Foe's hand,
- 29:28he pulls you close. He's like. Bill, be
- 29:31careful. Bill. Uh,
- 29:34fire Nation. And is always listening.
- 29:37They're always watching.
- 29:45Let me think. I'm trying to think where I would respond. Uh,
- 29:47Bill's just going to say, Lean in. And he's going to say, uh,
- 29:50don't worry, I've gotten used to that. And he
- 29:53gives him a wink and then walks away. Uh, as you
- 29:56walk away, Foe looks over at
- 29:59Gray and he says, uh, I think that boy was
- 30:02flirting with me.
- 30:07They chuckle, and they go back to their pie show
- 30:10game or starting their pie show,
- 30:13but you hear Grace say, oh, wait. Oh.
- 30:16New rule.
- 30:16You have to go where the tiles landed.
- 30:20They dropped
- 30:25it.
- 30:26Are you, like me, a fan of
- 30:29piracy or privateering, um,
- 30:31out in your DND campaign? Well, check
- 30:34this out. We have been working on a brand
- 30:37new airship combat system. That means
- 30:40you and your privateer crew can now take to
- 30:43the skies and pillage at new
- 30:46heights. Within this system, you will
- 30:48get three dimensional dynamic movement and
- 30:51combat rules. You'll get, uh, a brand new
- 30:54updated air crew system, as well as
- 30:57brand new spells, items, creatures,
- 31:00and example airships for you to use in your
- 31:02campaign, as well as crews to put on
- 31:05them. But I think the coolest part about all of this
- 31:08is we have a custom ship builder
- 31:11application that will allow you to customize and
- 31:13build your very own airship.
- 31:16It means you and your team can have exactly
- 31:19what you want as you take on the skies.
- 31:23If you're interested in any of that, check out our Sky's efforts
- 31:26kickstarter here at Hermione and the Dude.

- 33:09swag because all of us at the studio would love to see
- 33:11it. Thanks for listening.
- 33:13Let's get back to the show.
- 33:18All right, so you guys have, uh, this new information. I assume
- 33:21they heard that conversation. Or you can kind of
- 33:24huddle up and relay it to them. I'm not going to make you do it. I'm just saying.
- 33:27Okay, uh, perfect. So you
- 33:30guys head out and you kind of just start making your way
- 33:33down the dirt pathway.
- 33:36Um, in the distance you can see a very
- 33:38ornate, beautiful building. Um, it's
- 33:41got sort of those curly I'm not an architect,
- 33:44ironically, I work at an architecture firm. But it's got kind of
- 33:47those cool, curly, very Asian style
- 33:50rooftop corners. Um,
- 33:52large, very tall, pointed, uh,
- 33:55tiled rooftop in kind of a bright red color.
- 33:58The building itself seems to be some sort of, like,
- 34:01green stone or some sort
- 34:04of, uh you're not entirely sure. Maybe it was painted.
- 34:07Uh, whatever the case, uh, there are large,
- 34:11uh, fabric outdoor curtains that kind of hang from the various
- 34:14windows and such. It's a very classy building. Um,
- 34:17there's a wall that kind of goes around it. It's not
- 34:20super high, maybe like 8ft or
- 34:22so. Um, inside you can see there's some
- 34:25greenery that's very well kept. Uh, definitely feels like
- 34:28a very classy place. Nobody's guarding it,
- 34:31per se. It's kind of an open location. Nobody's trying to
- 34:34stop you from getting in or out, but that's what you see. Is
- 34:37there, uh, like a back door, like employee
- 34:40entrance? Oh, absolutely. Um, yeah,
- 34:43you go around the building, there's kind of like a narrow path
- 34:46that goes around.
- 34:47We're sopping wet still, probably.
- 34:50Yeah.
- 34:51Fire Nation is going to find us.
- 34:53Way.
- 34:58Four sopping wet teenagers walking. More
- 35:01believable because it's like, man, nobody from the Fire
- 35:04Nation would come walking in here drenched in water.
- 35:08Guo runs, uh, up behind you
- 35:11guys, huffing and puffing. Sorry, guys. Had a catch
- 35:14up. I had to leave a pebble
- 35:17rating on hot leaf juice door.
- 35:20Was it a good one or a bad one? The lowest
- 35:23rate.
- 35:24He shouldn't have left one.
- 35:26No, that's how they know he was
- 35:29there.
- 35:31Should have burned it to the ground.
- 35:33Uh, we can't on our way back.
- 35:36I think that's the fire nation's job. I feel like Nika's just got
- 35:39a weird thing going on of wanting to burn. I'm
- 35:41rubbing off on her, I guess.
- 35:43So okay, but this was very
- 35:45warranted.
- 35:46Well, I just find it really funny. You're a waterbender, and you're like, I
- 35:49really want to burn things to the ground.
- 35:52I want to go outside my element right now.
- 35:57Feige leaves more of a mark
- 36:00than water.
- 36:02It can could still flood
- 36:04it. Flood it.
- 36:06Okay, let's go back. I'll pull all
- 36:09the water from all.
- 36:10Y'All from the TV
- 36:13story. You can't.
- 36:15Is Mr. Okuron we're talking about? What do you mean? There's
- 36:18bigger things?
- 36:19Yeah. The thing Mr. Okron sent us to.
- 36:21Do, we're avenging him. He would want us to do
- 36:24it.
- 36:25I don't think Mr. Okra would be, like, the last person to be,
- 36:28like, revenge me. I think if Mr. Ogron was
- 36:31here, he'd probably say, I want you guys to take him down
- 36:33by having a better T shot. Yeah, that's whatever the
- 36:36case, you, uh, guys approach. There's a back entrance, and it's sort
- 36:39of like a stage left exit, kind of
- 36:42a can. It's got sort of like some, uh, kind of
- 36:45a sign on it that says Actors Only.
- 36:48Well, we just got to walk through there, right?
- 36:50I mean, this is where I was told to go, so I
- 36:53feel like we have to if they try to
- 36:56stop us. Well, we'll just
- 36:59say the name. We claim sanctuary.
- 37:02Wait, no, we will not say the name. They told
- 37:04us not to say the.
- 37:05Name, uh, around Fire Nation. So if they're Fire Nation, we won't
- 37:08say the name. And if they are Earth Nation, we
- 37:11will. And if this person if this guy's, like, in
- 37:14the performance scene, it's like, they'll
- 37:17know where to find them. It's not really good cover. Like, the
- 37:20Fire Nation doesn't like them, but they're a public figure.
- 37:23It's like so you guys step through this side door
- 37:26that said Actors Only, and you guys find
- 37:29yourself on the sort of
- 37:30backstage. Uh, you can
- 37:33hear a woman is on stage at this very moment,
- 37:36and she seems to be singing in a very high, sort of opera
- 37:39esque voice. Um, it's not a
- 37:41performance. It's not like a big show at the moment.
- 37:44It's probably somebody rehearsing exactly.
- 37:47Rehearsal practice kind of thing. But, um, you definitely hear
- 37:50somebody on stage, uh, which kind of probably
- 37:53shies you away from, I would hope, maybe.
- 37:55I don't know. I guess I'm not making decisions here for you guys,
- 37:59uh, from just Walting out on a stage. But currently, you're behind the
- 38:01curtain. You're behind the curtain, safely away.
- 38:04The door blows directly, seems
- 38:07like, I.
- 38:08Think, calling right there, if it was.
- 38:11My thinking, uh, the door typically, is for
- 38:14people to exit the backstage area in
- 38:17case they need to go up to the front. As
- 38:20people are coming out the door, you shake hands with all the actors,
- 38:23tell them you did a good job, whatever the case. Uh,
- 38:26it's not usually used the opposite way, where you
- 38:29enter backstage. Okay. But here you are. Is
- 38:32there anybody else backstage or is she the only person here? Um,
- 38:35yes, actually, there is somebody else backstage. There's somebody,
- 38:38uh, holding a clipboard and right now they don't
- 38:41notice you because they are very intently going through the
- 38:44names. Um, and it's kind of dark back here, but
- 38:47you can see just past them. It seems like there's a line of other
- 38:49people, um, that has begun sort of
- 38:52behind them. Other women? Uh,
- 38:55some young, some old, all dressed in sort
- 38:58of, uh, dressy kimonos.
- 39:01So this is like an audition of sorts?
- 39:04It seems it might be. So, Mika,
- 39:06you can go in that line. Blend
- 39:09in.
- 39:10I'm literally soaking wet. These ladies
- 39:13are in beautiful kimonos.
- 39:16That's your stick. Yeah, that's your stick.
- 39:19You're the soaking wet singer.
- 39:21Singer. So before
- 39:24every act, you have someone dump a bucket of water on you
- 39:27and it's like performance art.
- 39:29I'll just use my water bending skills.
- 39:31And try to yeah, I'm m glad.
- 39:34Myself a little bit.
- 39:35Yeah, just pull the water off yourself and get in
- 39:38line. Let us stumble our way through this mess.
- 39:41Okay. Then, uh, the three of us will sit
- 39:43in the audience and we'll cheer for you. Shouldn't we be
- 39:46finding the verse we're looking for and just
- 39:49enjoying the show? Fine.
- 39:52Whatever.
- 39:53So, uh, I don't have to do
- 39:56yeah.
- 39:56You're still auditioning? Phrase echoes in your mind from, uh,
- 39:59the old men at the tea shop. If Mayu Yinyu
- 40:02knows you're looking for him, he will find
- 40:05you. See?
- 40:06Told you.
- 40:07Yeah. So you still have time to audition. Wait. Mayu
- 40:10Yinyu is a man. Oh, yeah.
- 40:12That's what they've been saying he this whole time.
- 40:14I wasn't sure how to insert that fact in
- 40:17until the moment the old.
- 40:19Dudes yeah, you guys always said she. And I
- 40:22was like, Wait, he's saying he.
- 40:24But anyways, we could just walk up to that person with a clipboard
- 40:27and be like, hey, we'll be for my
- 40:29that went super well last time. What about
- 40:32there's got to be some stage hands. There should be
- 40:35other people who aren't super intently. Oh, uh, yeah, there's
- 40:38stage hand. There has to be, right? Uh, yeah,
- 40:41probably further back into where the line is kind of going
- 40:44out. I mean, there's obviously the person with the clipboard.
- 40:47That is probably a stage hand to some extent. Where's the
- 40:50green room? Uh, the green room. That's the question.
- 40:53All right, guys, I know what we got to do. Got to
- 40:56find this green room, find these finger
- 40:58sandwiches, and see how many we can fit in our pockets.
- 41:05Where are you getting the idea that there's finger sandwiches? Uh,
- 41:07it's a green room. They got to have a
- 41:10rider. Come on.
- 41:13Airport. All right, maybe they only have
- 41:16he would know the thing or two about green rooms more than the rest of
- 41:19them. Okay, fair enough.
- 41:23Uh, they have some. Yeah.
- 41:25All right, sounds good. So what are you guys doing at the moment? Are you
- 41:28guys going towards this line to try to
- 41:31find your way back there? Walk behind the line. Okay.
- 41:34He's like a random
- 41:36backstage person. Are you sneaking past a person
- 41:39with a clipboard, or are you just kind of just going for it?
- 41:42Walk like you own the place. Yeah, we're walking like
- 41:45we're heading for the line. All right, so as you guys
- 41:48are walking towards it, uh, this man turns
- 41:50around. Uh, he's kind of an older guy. He's
- 41:53got kind of a long goatee that hasn't quite started to gray
- 41:56yet. But the wrinkles around his eyes and his
- 41:59cheekbones kind of protruding. Definitely
- 42:01suggests age and sort of frailty. Um,
- 42:04he's wearing a tall hat with a little string out of
- 42:07it. Kind of like a what do they call
- 42:10a fed? Yeah. Fez. Right. Fed. He's a
- 42:13fed. He's a fed. No, a fez.
- 42:16But it's like a little bit taller than a normal fez would be. It's kind of
- 42:19obscure. Whatever the case, he turns around and he sees you guys,
- 42:22and he lowers his clipboard, and he's like,
- 42:25what are you doing out of line? Just keep
- 42:28going. I'm going. Just keep walking. Who are
- 42:31you? Don't even give him the time of day.
- 42:34Just walk right walking right back
- 42:38that's right. Back to the back of the line. You guys
- 42:41can wait till last? Uh, good. Nice
- 42:44hat. Ah, you have there. Did you stop?
- 42:48Yeah, it is a nice hat. What about it? I
- 42:50had a nice hat once, but I lost
- 42:53it jumping into the water. Uh,
- 42:57what are you talking get to the back of the line.
- 43:00Okay.
- 43:04And as you guys walk to the back of the line, you
- 43:06get some looks of disdain from the various
- 43:09women that are lined up, um,
- 43:12looking at you as if you're less than per se
- 43:15or they're a better performer. Whatever the case, um, you
- 43:18see that as you go all the way to the back, you get
- 43:21these. Look. What?
- 43:22I'm a cream mom.
- 43:23So you are auditioning.
- 43:25You guys told me to.
- 43:26Do you actually get in line? Are you dry at this
- 43:29point?
- 43:30Yes.
- 43:30She dried herself and not us. Fair enough. The rest of you
- 43:33squatch.
- 43:37Um, Nika, you get into the back of this line. Uh, the rest
- 43:40of you start heading towards, uh, finding the green
- 43:42room at backstage. Boy
- 43:45or girl? While we're walking the
- 43:48rocks that Brock has, could I bend them, um,
- 43:51into the shape of a clipboard?
- 43:55Because you can get anywhere with a clipboard.
- 43:58So that'll, uh, give us some
- 44:01validity when we're walking around here. They're going to question
- 44:03us now. Sure. Okay.
- 44:05You all ditched me.
- 44:06Yes. Have fun
- 44:09auditioning. I'm going to take care of you guys first, and then we'll jump over to
- 44:12Mika real quick with the performance we don't have.
- 44:15Oh, it's going to be interesting. All right, so you guys find the
- 44:18green room and sure enough, there are a number of
- 44:21snacks and drinks in here. Although most of it
- 44:23seems to have been, ah, ever so delicately picked
- 44:26over for the most part. But there are definitely, ah, a
- 44:29little bit of this and that left. It wasn't massive,
- 44:32and you wonder if maybe it was there leading up
- 44:35to the start of the audition. So all the ladies that you
- 44:38passed by had probably already gone through a lot of these
- 44:40snacks, um, that were available.
- 44:44But, um, there's a little bit left. And there
- 44:47is one person sitting in there. Um,
- 44:50it's just a young woman. Uh, she's not dressed in a
- 44:53kimono. She's dressed in just kind of casual clothes. She has her hair
- 44:56up in a ponytail. Uh, she has big
- 44:59rimmed glasses on. And she also is
- 45:02holding a clipboard. And she kind of looks up as she sees the three of
- 45:05you walk in. And she goes, oh, are you
- 45:08here for the job?
- 45:11Are all three of you applying? We do have multiple positions
- 45:14open, yeah. Oh, fantastic.
- 45:17Good. I was starting to worry that nobody was going to show up
- 45:19today. It was just going to be people for the
- 45:22performance. Yeah. Okay. Um, I was going to run this as a
- 45:25group interview, if that works for you. Cool. All
- 45:28right, well, have a seat. Please. Have a seat. Since I have
- 45:31my official clipboard, I could just be like, oh, I was just escorting
- 45:34these guys here. And then can I keep looking around? Uh, you could
- 45:36do that, absolutely. Do you want to roll me a
- 45:39trick that she probably doesn't recognize you?
- 45:42Sure. What is that with? That is with
- 45:481212. Holy cow.
- 45:51Uh, so you get to pick two on a trick. They stumble,
- 45:54you take plus one forward and acting against them. They, uh,
- 45:57act foolishly. And the GM tells you about an additional
- 45:59opportunity that you gain.
- 46:02Or they overcommit and they are deceived
- 46:06for some time. There we go. What was that second to last
- 46:08one? Uh, they act foolishly. The GM
- 46:11tells you what additional opportunity they give you. I
- 46:14think that one because that'd be the only way. They'd be like, oh,
- 46:17okay, cool. Guy with a clipboard. Rock shaped
- 46:20like a clipboard. Yeah. And then are you picking the last one too?
- 46:23Where they overcommit and they're deceived.
- 46:27So the one you're picking just means they do
- 46:30something silly because of your lie. Whereas the
- 46:33last one is they definitely are believing your lie. You get to
- 46:36pick two. Okay, so I'll do that. They definitely believe the last one
- 46:39then. Yes. So she believes that you are somebody
- 46:42important. In fact, are you telling her that you're somebody important? Or are
- 46:45you just saying, oh, I'm just here to drop them off. I'm just
- 46:48dropping these guys off. They were asking around earlier.
- 46:51Uh, she, uh, says, ah,
- 46:56have you always worked here? Um,
- 47:02I'm kind of new around here, but, uh,
- 47:05uh, they put me on here, and these
- 47:08guys came and found me and said they were looking around for you, so I
- 47:10just came and dropped them off. Oh, wow. Um,
- 47:14what department are you in?
- 47:17You look like you might be an actor or something.
- 47:21No, I just always loved the
- 47:24theater, so I wanted to be involved in any way I can. So,
- 47:27uh, I just started working,
- 47:30uh, in the acquisitions department, where we're looking
- 47:33for, uh, all those new actors and such. Well,
- 47:36then you and I will probably be working quite
- 47:39closely together. Yeah. Appears that way.
- 47:42Yeah. I'll see you around. I'll see you around too.
- 47:45And she just kind of blushes,
- 47:48and she just watches as you lead off, and then
- 47:51she just kind of looks at her clipboard. She goes
- 47:55and there's just kind of a very long, awkward
- 47:57silence. I'm so
- 48:00sorry. I forgot you guys were here. Oh, my gosh.
- 48:03Oh, my um how embarrassing.
- 48:05Um, all right, well, let's get this interview
- 48:08started. Uh, firstly, do you guys have
- 48:11any previous experience working within a
- 48:14performance facility of any kind? Any kind of
- 48:16events? Uh, anything like that?
- 48:19Of course I do. Oh, good.
- 48:22Oh, please do tell. I was with a
- 48:24traveling troop
- 48:27for my whole life. Oh,
- 48:29like a circus or carnival?
- 48:32Yes. Oh, very impressive. Uh, if I may
- 48:35ask, uh, was there anything in particular that you worked
- 48:38on during this time? I was involved in
- 48:41most of all, the performances. Oh, wow. So you
- 48:44definitely had a diverse set of skills that you've
- 48:47probably developed, I assume, of kind of all
- 48:49areas, production and
- 48:52performance even maybe. Yes. You could say I'm a
- 48:54well rounded individual.
- 48:58Uh, rubs his belly
- 49:01suddenly. Well,
- 49:04that is quite impressive. And she kind of scribbles onto the
- 49:07clipboard. There we go. Goodness. Said it, like, four times. She starts
- 49:09scribbling on the clipboard a little bit, noting, um,
- 49:12down your amount of experience. And you said that
- 49:15you had no experience, correct, sir. I have
- 49:17none. Okay. No, that's no problem.
- 49:20Are you somebody that you would say is eager to learn?
- 49:24Nah. Oh, okay. Um,
- 49:26she's a little thrown off by this it's very forward
- 49:29kind of answer to a very obviously, you say yes.
- 49:32Uh, question. Uh,
- 49:35may I ask, uh, what made you want to apply
- 49:38for this position? Him. And I look over at
- 49:40GuoHan.
- 49:45She looks at you for a moment, and then she looks over at Guo,
- 49:48and then she kind of
- 49:51squints her eyes a little bit, and she's like, um,
- 49:54sorry, I didn't catch your names, by the way. Bill.
- 49:57Okay. Names? Yu. Yin.
- 50:00Yuma.
- 50:03Yuyan. Yuma. Fantastic.
- 50:06Um, yuyan. Yuma. Are out of
- 50:08curiosity, is it a situation for both of you that,
- 50:11uh, you're going to work
- 50:14in the theater together, or not at all?
- 50:17Or would one of if we were only able to hire one of
- 50:20you based on limitation of positions?
- 50:23Well, I'll tell you uh, Bill here is great
- 50:26at following orders. I've worked with him a time or
- 50:28two. Okay, well, that's
- 50:31definitely a slightly redeeming quality.
- 50:34I'm a great worker. Oh, good. Okay.
- 50:37Could you list off any experience you have with working? Just
- 50:40in general? What experience have you had? I'm really good at
- 50:43picking things up and putting them down.
- 50:47Okay. So you could probably lift a reasonable amount.
- 50:50Can you lift around, uh,
- 50:53five pounds? Pounds? Oh.
- 50:56Any more than that? Don't like to overwork myself.
- 50:59Oh, okay. Uh, well, the job would entail
- 51:02I'm good at hitting stuff. Hitting
- 51:04stuff. Um, and I played it with
- 51:07both. We
- 51:10typically don't encourage any kind of weaponry on this
- 51:13stage during any part of the process. Not
- 51:16a weapon, a lifestyle.
- 51:19All right. Um, um, so
- 51:22I guess last question before you guys head out. Uh,
- 51:25do you have any questions, uh, for me,
- 51:28as far as the position goes or anything relating to the
- 51:30theater? No, I'm joking. Who's in
- 51:34charge? Well, it's a little bit up in the air right
- 51:37now. Uh, previously, it was, uh, an individual.
- 51:40You may have heard of him. His name was Mayu
- 51:42Yinyu. Uh, he was a big performer here. Kind of took
- 51:45on the responsibility of sort of managing the
- 51:48theater. Uh, but he has since
- 51:51how do I say this, uh, gone into
- 51:54some activities the theater doesn't necessarily
- 51:57want to directly support, um,
- 52:00other obligations, I guess you could say. But
- 52:03he's no longer involved. Uh, right now it's sort of a toss
- 52:06up between a couple of individuals who are sort of vying for the
- 52:09position of leader. Um, so, I mean, that's as
- 52:12much as I can really say. M. So
- 52:15no leaders as of right now? Well, like I
- 52:18said, the two that are vying for the official position are
- 52:21kind of doing the responsibilities of the leader of the
- 52:23theater, uh, between themselves. I tossed my
- 52:26hat, uh, into the ring. I will
- 52:29note that with a man with a
- 52:32similar name to your former leader, I would
- 52:35also like to toss my hat into the
- 52:38ring, but I lost it in the ocean.
- 52:42That's funny. Um, you guys realize this is
- 52:45just for backstage crew positions,
- 52:47right? I can, I guess, pass your names along.
- 52:50I did not. But only one of you
- 52:53has experience in anything
- 52:56even relating to theater work. And it's not even
- 52:59theater work explicitly. I know this guy.
- 53:01Right. Um,
- 53:04well, uh, whatever the case, thank, uh, you both
- 53:07for coming into the interviews today. Um,
- 53:11we will call back, um,
- 53:13potentially either of you, uh, send you a message,
- 53:16or we'll find a way to reach you.
- 53:22That's sure thing. All right, thank you
- 53:25both. Um, and as you guys are walking out,
- 53:28she grabs Guo's arm and she goes, and, uh,
- 53:31how could we get in contact with you specifically?
- 53:34Is there an address I can send maybe, uh,
- 53:37a letter to, uh, about the position? If you are
- 53:40accepted, and I think you will be.
- 53:43Yeah, you can send it to, uh,
- 53:45PO. Box number two
- 53:49uh huh. In the square. Okay.
- 53:52All right. Thank you. Have a nice day. That's
- 53:54not your
- 53:58box. Um, you two walk away as you guys are walking away.
- 54:01Brock, uh, are you just, like, waiting
- 54:03outside? I think I've just kind of been wandering around
- 54:06looking for Mayu Yinyu, looking for
- 54:09any administrative looking type buildings
- 54:12or doors, any portraits of
- 54:16him so we can see what this guy looks like. Uh,
- 54:18well, actually, interestingly enough, uh, rather than
- 54:21seeing portraits of him, you see a surprising lack
- 54:24of portraits in the theater, uh, as if
- 54:27someone has semi recently just taken
- 54:30some artwork or art pieces off the wall where they used to
- 54:32stand. You can see even, like, there's dust
- 54:35around what looks like a perfect shape of a picture frame in
- 54:38certain spots. Um, and then, of course, the wall behind
- 54:41where this picture frame would have sat is, like, completely clean. So
- 54:44yeah, just to imply that the
- 54:47artwork has since been removed, probably of
- 54:50Mayu Yinyu. Okay,
- 54:53and did, uh, the interview lady
- 54:56say how long ago it was? That Yu
- 54:58Yinyu was, uh, she was kind of vague about
- 55:01it, but based on some of the things that you've seen, you wonder if
- 55:04maybe it's been, like, a few weeks.
- 55:07Okay, can I go back into
- 55:10that interview room and try and talk to that
- 55:13lady? Okay, sure. You pass by. I
- 55:16mean, Brock and Guo have just come out of
- 55:18there, and you kind of run
- 55:21into, uh what's the what's the deal? We figure anything
- 55:24out about this Mayu guy? He don't work here
- 55:27no more. He don't work here no
- 55:31more. Any idea where he might be, or do I got to go
- 55:34in and ask some of the hard
- 55:37questions, uh, with this lady? She
- 55:40wasn't too specific, was she? Well,
- 55:43no, I guess the guy used to be the guy in
- 55:46charge here. Okay. Um, yeah, I'm going to
- 55:48go in and see if I can, uh, get any information out
- 55:51of her. Okay. You step inside, and,
- 55:54uh, actually, she's standing right there by the door. She was kind of, like,
- 55:57walking out just as you walked in, and you both bump into each
- 56:00other. Her glasses fall off onto the ground.
- 56:03Can I reach down and grab it with her, like the
- 56:05rom coms? Both your hands touch
- 56:08each other as you both reach for her
- 56:11glasses. Oh, uh, excuse me.
- 56:14I sincerely apologize. She picks up her glasses. She puts them
- 56:17on. She goes, oh, it's you.
- 56:20Yes, it's me, you
- 56:23say from around the corner. She's like, oh, you two are still
- 56:25here. Uh, you're free to go. Thank you.
- 56:31Okay. I forgot to tell you one of the
- 56:35reasons, uh, you might not have seen me is because I just got back
- 56:37from a vacation. So, uh, um,
- 56:40Mr. Yinyu, I was looking around for him,
- 56:43but there's, like, no sign of him anywhere. Where has he
- 56:46been? Oh, when did you start he's
- 56:49been gone for almost a
- 56:52month now. It was a long
- 56:55vacation. Uh, I stored up a lot
- 56:58of PTO. How have I not
- 57:01seen you around here before? I
- 57:03got
- 57:09promoted. I ran straight here.
- 57:12She does finally know. She's been so awestruck at
- 57:15your looks, apparently, that she's just now noticing that
- 57:18you're completely soaked. And she goes, oh,
- 57:21what happened? Do you need a towel? Or maybe
- 57:23a few? Yeah, that's no way related to the
- 57:26other two soaking wet dudes. You
- 57:33just this is Skyler. Completely forgetting, as the
- 57:36game master, that you guys are completely like, I'm
- 57:38just imagining you guys not soaked in water, because
- 57:41that's not normal. But yep, you guys are soaked in
- 57:44water. Three guys show, um, up soaked in
- 57:47water, but completely independent of each
- 57:50other. Boy, it must be real. Hey, you know
- 57:53what? She is obviously somebody that
- 57:56much like, velma or something desperately needs
- 57:59these glasses.
- 58:00Okay? But to be fair, she's been wearing
- 58:03them. Brock was there the first time. She's like, oh, wow. Uh,
- 58:06he's so cute. And then she was really thrown off
- 58:09by she turned his
- 58:11nah.
- 58:12No. Turned to interview the two
- 58:15other soaking wet
- 58:19guys. Okay. Yeah, so funny story
- 58:22about that. It actually wasn't a vacation. Uh, well, it
- 58:24was supposed to be a vacation, but, uh,
- 58:27got shipwrecked out on another island, and I had
- 58:30to find my way back. And then the ship went down on the way back
- 58:33in here. That's why I'm, uh she's leading you
- 58:36kind of to a back area where they've got, like,
- 58:39costumes and stuff like that, and she grabs a couple of towels and throws them at
- 58:42you. She's like, oh, my gosh. You
- 58:44were marooned on an island? Yeah, it
- 58:47was were you out, like, searching for talent
- 58:50in other yeah, they had me out in the
- 58:52talent scouts. Uh oh, my I've
- 58:55heard it's dangerous out there as a talent scout.
- 58:58Yeah, it wouldn't affect it, but sure
- 59:01enough it's a scary position. Yeah. Yep,
- 59:04it is. Um, so, yeah, it's been
- 59:07a while. So what happened to Mr. Yinyu? Last
- 59:09I checked, he was one who sent
- 59:14me.
- 59:18Um, he she seems, like, really flustered, just kind of unsure, um, what
- 59:21to say, and maybe partially it's because she's watching you
- 59:23dry yourself, and I don't know, maybe that's sparking
- 59:26something inside of her,
- 59:29um, as your wet hair, kind of like yeah, you
- 59:32pull back your wet hair. Uh, he
- 59:35announced that during a performance, he sang a
- 59:38piece that alluded to the idea that he was
- 59:41involved in a sort of rebel organization here in
- 59:43the city. And apparently there were some
- 59:46leading individuals from the fire nation here. Uh, and
- 59:49they kind of picked up on his subtle
- 59:52message, and they were not happy.
- 59:55He disappeared after that. He went into hiding,
- 59:58I guess or, uh, maybe they caught him. I'm not
- 1:00:01sure. It's one or the other. Well, I hope he's just
- 1:00:04in hiding. But where would they have taken him
- 1:00:06if they caught him? Oh,
- 1:00:09the Fire Nation has a very large
- 1:00:12prison structure that they've actually built kind of on the
- 1:00:15outskirts
- 1:00:17of, uh
- 1:00:20I guess well, thanks for the
- 1:00:23towel. Uh, I guess I'll see you around. I guess I'll see you
- 1:00:26tomorrow. Oh, that'd be great. What's your name?
- 1:00:29My name's Sonuma.
- 1:00:32Sonuma. Okay. I'm Brock. Nice to meet you. It's nice to meet you too.
- 1:00:35And she holds out her hand to shake
- 1:00:38yours. Uh, I'll shake her hand.
- 1:00:40Sure.
- 1:00:44Okay. Uh, and you shake her hand. You give her a
- 1:00:46nod, and you head back out. Meanwhile, uh, all this
- 1:00:49is happening. Uh, Mika, it's
- 1:00:52finally your turn. As you come to
- 1:00:55the end of the line, um, as you kind
- 1:00:58of peek out, the two people outside
- 1:01:01there, uh, are actually like they start to stand up as if
- 1:01:04they're ready to leave. And then, uh, the
- 1:01:06man with the tall fez, he steps out and he
- 1:01:09says, we've got one
- 1:01:12more. He.
- 1:01:16Goes I kind of stumble out on the stage
- 1:01:18and then
- 1:01:21strut to the middle.
- 1:01:23Sure. You see a very
- 1:01:26rotund man, uh, and woman both sitting out there.
- 1:01:29Of course, they have clipboards. They, uh, are
- 1:01:32also wearing very tall fez hats. You, uh,
- 1:01:35start to wonder if maybe this theater that's, like, part of the uniform
- 1:01:38or something. You're not sure. Whatever the case, they, uh, both look at
- 1:01:41you intently, and the woman says, well,
- 1:01:43go on. What will you be performing for
- 1:01:46us today?
- 1:01:48I'm, um, going to do
- 1:01:50an interpretive
- 1:01:53dance.
- 1:01:53Yes. The one thing podcast can't
- 1:01:57hear just from the wings. You just hear us all
- 1:02:00go
- 1:02:03Boo. The lady says
- 1:02:07copyright. There you go.
- 1:02:10Um, did you want music attached to this? Yeah. You look over to
- 1:02:13the right side of the stage, and there's, like, a couple of
- 1:02:16individuals with instruments. Uh, just
- 1:02:19something simple, like a strings and drums kind of stuff. Yeah.
- 1:02:22And I just kind of look at them like, are you going to
- 1:02:25play something? Do you have anything
- 1:02:28specific? Literally anything.
- 1:02:30Oh, okay. And they just kind of start playing like a
- 1:02:32really simple, steady beat.
- 1:02:34Uh, slow, fast. You said steady.
- 1:02:37Kind of medium.
- 1:02:39Yeah, sort of like slow to medium.
- 1:02:42Okay. Um, I'm just going to move my
- 1:02:45body like different watery
- 1:02:47ways.
- 1:02:48Okay. Very Water tribe.
- 1:02:50Yeah. So I'm going to start out,
- 1:02:53obviously, standing straight.
- 1:02:55Right?
- 1:02:55And then I'm just going to stick my arms up in there and just kind of
- 1:02:58wave them back and forth, following the beat.
- 1:03:01Okay.
- 1:03:01And then, um, I'll swing to the
- 1:03:04right, and I'll kind of bend that way
- 1:03:07and flow some more and then go to the other
- 1:03:10way. And then I'm going to go down to the
- 1:03:13ground and kind of do a worm,
- 1:03:15but more,
- 1:03:19uh. What's the word?
- 1:03:21Graceful. Okay. Um,
- 1:03:24let's see. Ah, I want
- 1:03:26to say probably rely on your skills
- 1:03:29and training. Seems like the best thing to do
- 1:03:34here. Nine. Nice. Okay, so with the seven to nine, you do
- 1:03:37it imperfectly, but you can mark a
- 1:03:40fatigue to ignore any
- 1:03:43consequences. I, uh, can tell you what those consequences could
- 1:03:46be first.
- 1:03:47No, I'm going to mark it. I'm just going all in.
- 1:03:50Okay. All right. Because you want to make sure this performance works.
- 1:03:53Okay. You're starting to get out of breath,
- 1:03:56but you're committing to this dance and
- 1:03:59it is interpretive.
- 1:04:02Uh, they are absolutely flabbergasted as they
- 1:04:05watch as you do these wave motions to the
- 1:04:08point where you seem like you
- 1:04:10are water. And they see these the clothing
- 1:04:13that you're wearing. It's not the fancy kimonos that the other
- 1:04:16girls were wearing. It's something,
- 1:04:19um, that really suggests water.
- 1:04:22Tribe and so they're seeing this pairing of
- 1:04:25the attire mixed with the
- 1:04:27cultural forms that waterbenders use
- 1:04:30and they're astonished. Honestly, they're really blown
- 1:04:33away that you would bring this performance here. Uh, they
- 1:04:36weren't expecting it and they're really
- 1:04:39impressed. Um, they both stand up, they give an applause. The
- 1:04:42guy in the back of the stage, he's watching with his tall
- 1:04:45fez, weeping. He is weeping. A
- 1:04:48tear is going down his eyes. He just takes his clipboard
- 1:04:51and uses the paper on the clipboard, like the bottom corner
- 1:04:54to just kind of dab at his, uh, under his eye.
- 1:04:56He goes, that was
- 1:05:00beautiful. It was
- 1:05:03beautiful. Um, they clap and they say, that
- 1:05:06was quite impressive. I've never seen
- 1:05:09anything like that. I've never seen
- 1:05:12anything like that before, but it was incredible. I
- 1:05:14could see this. This right here is a performance
- 1:05:17that'll bring in
- 1:05:20the yes. Uh, please, ma'am,
- 1:05:23your name? What is your name? We would love to sign you on
- 1:05:26to perform. Paid. We will pay
- 1:05:29you to perform.
- 1:05:33Even my, um, name is.
- 1:05:37Mika. They've come up on stage. By this point, they're shaking your hand. It's
- 1:05:40an absolute treat to meet you,
- 1:05:44Mika. Please. Where in the world did you come from? What did
- 1:05:47you learn to dance in such a
- 1:05:49way?
- 1:05:50I'm just very in tune with the
- 1:05:52water.
- 1:05:53You absolutely are. Please. Yes.
- 1:05:56Um, and all of a sudden, as they're
- 1:05:58getting excited and everything like that, of
- 1:06:01all things, an owlcat flies into
- 1:06:04the meter and swoops down low,
- 1:06:07just past the heads of this man
- 1:06:10and woman that are congratulating you. And they're very
- 1:06:13startled. They're throwing their hands up, swatting away at
- 1:06:16it. How did this creature get him
- 1:06:20to help? And the man kind of standing off to the side with
- 1:06:23the tall feathers. He goes, oh, I'm so sorry,
- 1:06:27ma'am. I'll find a broom. And he runs off into
- 1:06:30the backstage to go get a broom. And they're all swatting.
- 1:06:33And the creature, uh, sort of flies
- 1:06:36low and you notice a small piece of
- 1:06:39paper fall from one of its
- 1:06:41talons.
- 1:06:43Well, I'll grab that.
- 1:06:45Awesome. Okay. You catch this piece of
- 1:06:48paper and at the moment, with
- 1:06:50everybody swinging and the craziness going on, it doesn't
- 1:06:53quite feel like the time to read it. Um, but I
- 1:06:56mean, all things considered, it flies away now that it's
- 1:06:59dropped this note and disappears from the
- 1:07:02theater, leaving the three of you on
- 1:07:05stage. I've never seen such a thing. How did it even get
- 1:07:08in here? Ma'am, I sincerely
- 1:07:11apologize. MIGA we have never seen something like that in
- 1:07:14our theater before. We will assure it never
- 1:07:16happens again.
- 1:07:17No worries. No worries at all.
- 1:07:20So, uh, can we expect to see you again? We're
- 1:07:22holding a small gala tonight. We would love to have
- 1:07:25you there, meet, uh, some of the other
- 1:07:28performers, just a little soiree get together,
- 1:07:31uh, and hopefully maybe even be able to see
- 1:07:34an encore performance, sort, uh, of
- 1:07:37a thing.
- 1:07:38Yeah, I might be able to swing that.
- 1:07:40Oh, wonderful. Wonderful. It'll be at 08:00
- 1:07:43p.m.. Tonight. Do please be there. We'll
- 1:07:45have food, drinks, it'll be a
- 1:07:48very good time.
- 1:07:50You got it, dude.
- 1:07:51Oh, wonderful. And, uh, they thank you again. And,
- 1:07:54uh, they kind of, like, lead you to the back of the
- 1:07:57theater, kind of to the front doors or whatever the case, uh, where
- 1:08:00you see the rest of your colleagues is still
- 1:08:03quite a bit soaked, except for Brock. He looks quite dry,
- 1:08:06um, all kind of standing there waiting for
- 1:08:09you.
- 1:08:10Okay. I look pretty proud of myself and m more happier
- 1:08:13than I have in the last couple of days.
- 1:08:15Right on. Awesome. Did you get
- 1:08:17the job?
- 1:08:18Did I get the job? Is that even a
- 1:08:23question? I asked it as questions, obviously, Brock.
- 1:08:26I got the, uh,
- 1:08:28I mean, you can just chill here and earn some money
- 1:08:31and we'll go find what's his face,
- 1:08:34right?
- 1:08:35Oh, I don't have to be here till eight. Uh, they're having
- 1:08:37a parte. Well,
- 1:08:40uh oh, wait, guys, I also got a
- 1:08:43note. This weird, like, outcast thing just came swooping
- 1:08:46in and dropped something and
- 1:08:49I picked it up.
- 1:08:50What's it say?
- 1:08:52I, um, haven't read it yet. I'll read it now.
- 1:08:55Okay, so you open up the note and you're surprised at the amount
- 1:08:58of writing that's on it. It's in very fine print, but it's
- 1:09:01also very well written, very
- 1:09:03nice handwriting, and, um, it
- 1:09:06reads so you want to speak to
- 1:09:09Mayu? Unfortunately, we, the Udao faction
- 1:09:12of the Rescue Team Squadron, will need to see proof
- 1:09:15that you're not a Fire Nation spy by hitting them
- 1:09:18where it hurts in a way that no Fire
- 1:09:20Nation sympathizer would dare to do. Luckily
- 1:09:23for you, I'll give you a choice between the
- 1:09:26three. Pick one and attach it to the owl, and we'll send
- 1:09:29the details for the task. Do the
- 1:09:32task and we'll tell you where you can talk to Mayu.
- 1:09:35And you see three bold
- 1:09:38options below. One,
- 1:09:41sabotage. Two, steal
- 1:09:43three, break free. I think it'd be easy to
- 1:09:46sabotage something personally. We only have to
- 1:09:49do one
- 1:09:55overachiever. Sorry.
- 1:09:57Um, I guess yeah, that'll work.
- 1:10:00Sabotage. You already want to burn down half.
- 1:10:02The city only hot leaf juice.
- 1:10:05Well, we can do that on our way back. Maybe they want us to sabotage
- 1:10:07hot leaf juice.
- 1:10:09Yes, I'm Goldman.
- 1:10:10Let's go. Even if this owl is slap it
- 1:10:13back on. Yes, we just circle the one we want
- 1:10:16to do, and then they'll give us instructions. Where's the
- 1:10:19owl? I mean, do you circle sabotage?
- 1:10:22Sure, why not? That sounds easy. As you circle sabotage,
- 1:10:24you look up because you hear a noise, and it's
- 1:10:29a that was my best owl
- 1:10:31cat sound. As the owl cat swoops down
- 1:10:34and lands on sort of just like a pole, like
- 1:10:37a part of the wall that's outside the
- 1:10:40theater. Um, and it looks down at the note, and it
- 1:10:44says, throw it.
- 1:10:45You just have to tie it on his foot.
- 1:10:48You do notice there's a small string on its
- 1:10:51foot.
- 1:10:51I'll tie it since I have it.
- 1:10:53You have the note. Okay, fair enough. MIGA ties the note to the
- 1:10:56owl cat. It's hungry, and it flies off
- 1:10:59oh, never mind. So, uh, it turns
- 1:11:02out that, uh, Yinyu guy, he's
- 1:11:04not here. He's either he's an
- 1:11:07owl cat. No, he's either in hiding or
- 1:11:10he's in prison.
- 1:11:13Um, probably in prison.
- 1:11:14Probably in hiding.
- 1:11:17Break the tie.
- 1:11:20M Maybe he's in prison
- 1:11:24hiding. Yes. Last place David
- 1:11:27looked for him, he's the prison janitor.
- 1:11:30He's hiding in prison. Hiding in plain
- 1:11:33sight. Whatever the case with that, we're going to end episode.
