- 0:24Speaker 3: Hello everyone, As the man said, you're listened to the

- 0:31Speaker 3: ninety WBCB and one oh seven three FM, and also
- 0:34Speaker 3: seeing live at WBCB sports dot Com. It's Adam Kaplan
- 0:39Speaker 3: from Inside the Birds and our great bat reporter Andrew Decheco.
- 0:42Speaker 3: We hope be drawn very shortly by Eagles punter. We
- 0:45Speaker 3: should be a pro bowler, braid Man.
- 0:47Speaker 2: We hope so, Andrew, Yeah, he should be.
- 0:48Speaker 4: He should be a punter.
- 0:50Speaker 5: He should pro bal a pro bowler, n at all
- 0:52Speaker 5: pro I would make any phenomenal.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Andrew, it's funny. We'll probably talk to Braiden about this.
- 0:57Speaker 3: So I don't when I travel to camps, I don't
- 0:59Speaker 3: really watch the punters much. But he's a guy. You
- 1:02Speaker 3: couldn't miss him. What's up, man, is that Braiden? That
- 1:05Speaker 3: is Braidon? Yeah, he's wearing the Philly hats. I couldn't
- 1:07Speaker 3: tell what's up, buddy, So what's going on? So Bray
- 1:10Speaker 3: just put on the headset. It's Andrew, It's Adam, good
- 1:13Speaker 3: to see you.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Yeah, man.
- 1:16Speaker 3: So Brad, I was gonna say this because when I
- 1:19Speaker 3: go to training camps, I don't really watch the punters
- 1:21Speaker 3: or kickers very much.
- 1:22Speaker 2: But I gotta be honest with you.
- 1:23Speaker 3: You were booming it and I was saying to him,
- 1:26Speaker 3: because you know, we talk at training camp like is
- 1:28Speaker 3: it me?
- 1:28Speaker 2: Or's braid Man.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Look like incredible to this summer? Thanks no, But let
- 1:33Speaker 3: me ask you this question. What is your off season? Like?
- 1:35Speaker 2: What do you do to prepare?
- 1:37Speaker 6: I mean it's gonna sound a little obvious, but like
- 1:39Speaker 6: I just pun a lot. I really turned a lot
- 1:41Speaker 6: of my training into like very very specific training, Like
- 1:44Speaker 6: for punting. I used to be like just hitting the
- 1:46Speaker 6: gym a lot and trying to get bigger and stronger.
- 1:48Speaker 6: But I think as I've gotten older and more years
- 1:50Speaker 6: in the NFL, it's like a lot more specific towards me.
- 1:52Speaker 6: So I'll go out sometimes it's say takes a while
- 1:55Speaker 6: I go out there for four hours at a time
- 1:56Speaker 6: in Texas in Dallas and just work on different things.
- 2:00Speaker 6: So it's not all full speed, but it's all just
- 2:01Speaker 6: getting touches on football.
- 2:03Speaker 5: You talk about getting bigger and stronger. Am I correct
- 2:05Speaker 5: on this that you wanted to play defense when you
- 2:07Speaker 5: were in high school?
- 2:08Speaker 4: You want to play linebacker? Is that right?
- 2:10Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 2:10Speaker 7: I played like linebacker my whole life, and that's what
- 2:12Speaker 7: I really wanted to do.
- 2:12Speaker 6: And then a few back fractures later and I was like,
- 2:15Speaker 6: and then obviously, now I look at my body and
- 2:17Speaker 6: I'm like, there's just no way that was gonna happen.
- 2:19Speaker 6: And also glad I ended up making the switch, But yeah,
- 2:21Speaker 6: I was kind of forcing to switch into kicker and punter,
- 2:23Speaker 6: which now I love.
- 2:24Speaker 5: So so, what specifically did you focus on this offseason,
- 2:29Speaker 5: Whether it was timing details anything like that.
- 2:32Speaker 6: Yeah, I think just punting in all conditions and trying
- 2:34Speaker 6: to punt well when the conditions are bad, because I think,
- 2:38Speaker 6: especially last year in the playoffs, you can see like
- 2:40Speaker 6: the Rams game, like conditions get bad up here, and
- 2:42Speaker 6: that's you know. I was drafted to the Jets and
- 2:44Speaker 6: obviously conditions are similar there. It's like similar part of
- 2:46Speaker 6: the country, but I grew up playing in Houston, so
- 2:48Speaker 6: I never really like got that time that sort of
- 2:51Speaker 6: bad conditions pun end. And now I live in Dallas
- 2:54Speaker 6: in the off season. Dallas in the spring is notoriously
- 2:57Speaker 6: super windy, So going out there has been awesome to
- 3:00Speaker 6: to help me every day, just going and punning straight
- 3:02Speaker 6: into the teeth of the wind and punning down. We're
- 3:04Speaker 6: just figuring out different ways to do it.
- 3:05Speaker 3: All right, you said it win this game against the
- 3:08Speaker 3: Bear seemed to be very windy. How was the game
- 3:09Speaker 3: for you windy?
- 3:10Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 3:11Speaker 2: It was. How do you handle it?
- 3:12Speaker 3: How do you have it pre game? Do you get
- 3:14Speaker 3: out there like hours before and try to see that
- 3:16Speaker 3: because it's gusty, that's the other thing.
- 3:17Speaker 7: Yeah, Yeah, we're out there hours before.
- 3:19Speaker 6: I mean we're probably I probably get the stadium four
- 3:20Speaker 6: hours for the game starts, and we kind of feel
- 3:22Speaker 6: as it's uh, we look at the weather reports just
- 3:24Speaker 6: kind to see how it's gonna flow throughout the game.
- 3:25Speaker 7: It was very similar to the Lions game.
- 3:26Speaker 6: Lions game very very windy, and it kind of was
- 3:29Speaker 6: the same type of win too, So it actually was
- 3:32Speaker 6: a little bit useful to have the Lions game and
- 3:33Speaker 6: then coming into this game.
- 3:34Speaker 7: And yeah, so you and.
- 3:36Speaker 5: Jake are usually the two first the first two guys
- 3:38Speaker 5: I see on the field. But what are those conversations
- 3:40Speaker 5: like throughout the week do you confer with Michael Clay?
- 3:43Speaker 5: Do you talk to Jake and try to figure out
- 3:45Speaker 5: a plan of attack with in terms of weather?
- 3:48Speaker 6: Yeah, definitely, Yeah, Michael Clay is definitely, like Coach Clay's
- 3:52Speaker 6: a huge help in that. And we always look, you know,
- 3:54Speaker 6: with the chance of raining, there's you.
- 3:55Speaker 7: Know, a lot of win.
- 3:56Speaker 6: Whatever the report is, we look at and we kind
- 3:57Speaker 6: of have a game plan for it. Sometimes, you know,
- 4:00Speaker 6: if it's pretty perfect weather, you can get able aggressive
- 4:02Speaker 6: with the game plan. You know, you hit some different
- 4:03Speaker 6: kicks here and there and help control returners a little bit.
- 4:06Speaker 6: But yeah, when it gets when the conditions get worse,
- 4:09Speaker 6: you just really got to eliminate you know, bad miss
- 4:12Speaker 6: hit stuff like that and just try to like play
- 4:14Speaker 6: with what you're giving. It's not always going to be
- 4:16Speaker 6: perfect conditions. You just got to play a lot optimally
- 4:18Speaker 6: given what you're you know, what the conditions are.
- 4:20Speaker 4: So yeah, I mean, you you've.
- 4:21Speaker 5: Punted at met Life when you're with the Jets, you're
- 4:23Speaker 5: with the Steelers, and and here with with the Eagles.
- 4:26Speaker 5: What's the what's the key? What did you learn about
- 4:29Speaker 5: kicking in these type of conditions? If there was a
- 4:31Speaker 5: primary takeaway from that.
- 4:34Speaker 6: Gosh, for me, it's just you're not always going to
- 4:36Speaker 6: hit the best of the best punts in your life
- 4:38Speaker 6: in games.
- 4:39Speaker 7: Far from it.
- 4:40Speaker 6: You know, you get indoors and then you're like, all right,
- 4:41Speaker 6: today I can get get after a little bit more.
- 4:43Speaker 6: But you know, rarely are you going to get in
- 4:45Speaker 6: the northeast conditions. You're like, today is going to be
- 4:47Speaker 6: the day that I hit the best ball in my life.
- 4:48Speaker 6: So it's kind of just hitting a bunch of like
- 4:50Speaker 6: I call them, like B plus balls. You know, you're
- 4:53Speaker 6: always going to hit the your A ball, but you
- 4:54Speaker 6: know you just got to eliminate the the c's, the d's,
- 4:57Speaker 6: and the s.
- 4:57Speaker 7: Just hit like a bunch of really consistent balls.
- 5:00Speaker 3: Growing up, and Andrews talked about you maybe doing another position.
- 5:03Speaker 3: Did you always want to be a punter or kicker?
- 5:05Speaker 3: Did you look at other positions?
- 5:06Speaker 7: Yeah, growing up I always played linebacker.
- 5:09Speaker 6: That was like my Yeah, I loved playing defense, loved
- 5:12Speaker 6: hitting and then caught out to me, had a few
- 5:15Speaker 6: back fractures. Ended up fracturing my back for like the
- 5:17Speaker 6: third time my sophomore in high school, and I was like,
- 5:19Speaker 6: you know, I had doctor Base was like you had
- 5:21Speaker 6: to give up playing defense, and so I did, made
- 5:24Speaker 6: the switch kicker and punter, and I kind of did
- 5:25Speaker 6: it just because I was good with my feet. Played
- 5:27Speaker 6: soccer growing up, so I was good with my feet,
- 5:29Speaker 6: and then it was kind of natural progression from there.
- 5:32Speaker 5: You ever joke with zachar N Kobe and say, listen
- 5:34Speaker 5: if I didn't have those injuries.
- 5:36Speaker 6: Yeah, just looking up to Zach and the Kobe, like,
- 5:39Speaker 6: I get it. I was not what you guys.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Are kicking though? Is it okay? Punting is one thing?
- 5:44Speaker 3: Did you want to be a kicker? Why did you
- 5:46Speaker 3: decided punting and no kicking?
- 5:48Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 5:48Speaker 6: I actually got offered to and it's a Texas A
- 5:50Speaker 6: and m as a kickers. As a field kicker. I
- 5:52Speaker 6: went to their summer camp, did kickoffs and field goals,
- 5:55Speaker 6: and then I got offered maybe a few months later
- 5:58Speaker 6: committed there to be a kicker, and then and when
- 6:00Speaker 6: I got on campus planning to do both, they pretty
- 6:03Speaker 6: much switched me right away to punter, and then from
- 6:04Speaker 6: there I just did kickoffs. I actually didn't start at
- 6:07Speaker 6: punting until my junior year at A and M. So
- 6:10Speaker 6: I kicked off my freshman sophomore year, and then I
- 6:12Speaker 6: kicked off and punted my junior senior year.
- 6:14Speaker 4: And he kicked off a little bit last year too.
- 6:16Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 6:17Speaker 6: Yeah, before twenty three. When I was with the Jets,
- 6:20Speaker 6: I kicked off. I think half the games of each
- 6:22Speaker 6: of my first three years. They preferred kickers to kick usually,
- 6:26Speaker 6: but we had some injuries or you know, something's happened
- 6:28Speaker 6: with kickers to where I just came in kind of to,
- 6:30Speaker 6: you know, help not have a new guy have to
- 6:32Speaker 6: kick off and put a lot of strain on the leg.
- 6:34Speaker 2: So a special teams coach told me that one of
- 6:38Speaker 2: the things he looks for.
- 6:39Speaker 3: This blew me away. It seemed obvious, but I didn't
- 6:42Speaker 3: know this about special teams. You have to be able
- 6:45Speaker 3: to throw the foot off your punter a kicker, because
- 6:47Speaker 3: what happens if you it's over your head, what happens
- 6:50Speaker 3: if you drop it. I've heard you got a pretty
- 6:53Speaker 3: good arm, is accurate?
- 6:54Speaker 6: Thanks, Yeah, I mean I don't know if it's a
- 6:56Speaker 6: pretty good compared to some people think, but you know,
- 6:58Speaker 6: I can, I can get it out there at least
- 6:59Speaker 6: throwing two fakes. Not that they were deep bombs or anything,
- 7:02Speaker 6: just got out routes that were pretty easy.
- 7:04Speaker 7: Guys were wide open, so it's just not you just
- 7:06Speaker 7: gotta not screw it up.
- 7:07Speaker 2: What was like this practice that week? Though? Did you
- 7:09Speaker 2: you know Philly special do you execute?
- 7:12Speaker 7: Yeah? Yeah, we did.
- 7:13Speaker 6: I think there was maybe one that I overthrew beginning
- 7:15Speaker 6: of the week and I was like, all right, let's
- 7:17Speaker 6: just gotta calm him down and not not try to
- 7:19Speaker 6: throw some heat in there, just get it to I
- 7:21Speaker 6: think when I did it in twenty three it was
- 7:23Speaker 6: to Alamade z Akias and just threw him in dow Oka.
- 7:27Speaker 7: Yeah, Itz, so uh third to him.
- 7:29Speaker 6: He couldn't have been more wide open, so I just
- 7:30Speaker 6: didn't didn't want to dirt it or throw it over him.
- 7:33Speaker 4: Yeah, I think you're underselling. You could sling it a
- 7:34Speaker 4: little bit.
- 7:36Speaker 6: Yeah, we definitely, uh me and the other specialists and
- 7:39Speaker 6: then Coach Clay and Tyler Brown. We get after a
- 7:40Speaker 6: little bit throw you know, play some games with the
- 7:42Speaker 6: ball around a little bit.
- 7:43Speaker 2: So Tyler Brown's an interesting guy.
- 7:45Speaker 3: I've noticed Dad Randy for years, right, and Tyler was
- 7:47Speaker 3: with him in Michigan. You know, he comes to Philly.
- 7:50Speaker 3: You know, he's done a really good job. What specifically
- 7:53Speaker 3: does does he.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Do with you?
- 7:55Speaker 6: With me and Jake, He's he's really really detailed with us,
- 7:58Speaker 6: which I really appreciate. Once you get to a pretty
- 8:01Speaker 6: much any level of football, there's not guys that have
- 8:03Speaker 6: usually done the kicking and punting that are actually best
- 8:06Speaker 6: teams coordinators. I mean, coach Klay, he was a linebacker
- 8:08Speaker 6: at Oregon, obviously really good football player. Yeah, and he
- 8:11Speaker 6: actually long snapped I learned really Yeah. I think it
- 8:14Speaker 6: was a freshman year. He was their starting long snapper, so,
- 8:16Speaker 6: which is not a crazy thing I never knew about. No,
- 8:19Speaker 6: I didn't, but yeah, having Tyler, he had kicked and
- 8:22Speaker 6: I believe punted in college.
- 8:24Speaker 7: I didn't know that.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Well.
- 8:25Speaker 6: Yeah, So it's just hard to find guys who have
- 8:27Speaker 6: done it and kind of like get the little like
- 8:29Speaker 6: details about it, which he's really good about. He's he
- 8:32Speaker 6: always has his iPad and is very very detailed with
- 8:34Speaker 6: especially Jake.
- 8:35Speaker 7: You know, their their film rats.
- 8:37Speaker 6: They look at like the little tiniest little things and
- 8:40Speaker 6: so holding for that whole operations a lot of fun.
- 8:42Speaker 5: Yeah, and I should mention Cal Ademitas, who's done a
- 8:45Speaker 5: tremendous job since coming over. But you spent the whole
- 8:48Speaker 5: off season in training camp working with Charlie who's injured.
- 8:52Speaker 5: What was it like transitioning and learning a little bit
- 8:54Speaker 5: more about Cal and and his style for it?
- 8:58Speaker 4: Were those what were those conversations?
- 8:59Speaker 3: Like?
- 9:00Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean there's little things here or there that
- 9:02Speaker 6: they do differently, but everybody, I mean, you know, Cal's
- 9:04Speaker 6: been a good player for a while and he played
- 9:06Speaker 6: for the Bengals. He was a great snapper there. So
- 9:08Speaker 6: I think that a lot of these guys, when you
- 9:10Speaker 6: get to this level, it's just they're so good and
- 9:12Speaker 6: there's like little things they do differently, and you know
- 9:14Speaker 6: a lot of it's more of just like operationally when
- 9:17Speaker 6: you get out on the field feeling a little bit
- 9:18Speaker 6: of a rhythm. But I mean when you get to
- 9:20Speaker 6: the actual snapping and you know, if you're punter, kicker
- 9:24Speaker 6: or whatever, a lot of them are just so good
- 9:26Speaker 6: and they put it on you to where it's not
- 9:28Speaker 6: that crazy of a transition. It's just kind of a
- 9:30Speaker 6: lot of the Uh, Like I said, just timing things,
- 9:32Speaker 6: some things that you get so used to with somebody
- 9:35Speaker 6: that you go out on the field and you like
- 9:36Speaker 6: look at each other certain ways, and you have certain
- 9:38Speaker 6: rhythms that you do and getting used a lot of that.
- 9:40Speaker 6: But Cal came in and was just like, you know,
- 9:42Speaker 6: total pro he prepares unbelievable will.
- 9:44Speaker 5: So he picked up a couple of tackles against the
- 9:46Speaker 5: lions down.
- 9:48Speaker 3: The art of holding? How did you learn how to hold?
- 9:52Speaker 7: I just started holding. I watched our holder at a
- 9:55Speaker 7: and m do it.
- 9:56Speaker 6: I didn't do it my freshman sophomore year because I kicked,
- 9:58Speaker 6: you know, off my whole life.
- 9:59Speaker 7: So I yeah, I was just having hold it for me.
- 10:01Speaker 6: So I watched him for a while and then just
- 10:04Speaker 6: did it over and over again, spun a thousand balls
- 10:07Speaker 6: for myself. I just spended myself hold and it gets
- 10:09Speaker 6: really boring, repetitive, so find different ways to make it fun.
- 10:12Speaker 7: It's kind of how I learned.
- 10:13Speaker 6: I just, uh, yeah, I don't think I learned it
- 10:15Speaker 6: very like formally, I just started holding.
- 10:18Speaker 5: Well, what was the trick in the divisional round? You
- 10:21Speaker 5: go clearing off snow and then you had to go hold?
- 10:24Speaker 4: Like what was that?
- 10:25Speaker 6: Like the clearing off snow was something that was just
- 10:28Speaker 6: not an accident. It was co Sirianni. And first thing
- 10:31Speaker 6: we talked about that week, and especially news meeting or
- 10:34Speaker 6: team meeting before that, was that the old linemen are
- 10:36Speaker 6: gonna have to help clear the snow if we get
- 10:38Speaker 6: to that spot, because you know, when it gets to
- 10:40Speaker 6: two inches thick, it's gonna be hard to plant it.
- 10:42Speaker 7: So and our line was so excited to.
- 10:44Speaker 6: Do it, which was which is they were just like,
- 10:46Speaker 6: where's the snow where we got to clear? They probably
- 10:48Speaker 6: cleared out, you know, six feet of snow in five
- 10:51Speaker 6: seconds and then cleared it good for Jake. So that
- 10:53Speaker 6: was like not an accident at all. That was really
- 10:55Speaker 6: well prepared by them. We even practiced it. I think
- 10:58Speaker 6: we practiced one day indoors that week and they practice
- 11:01Speaker 6: clearing snow where there was no snow, which was awesome.
- 11:03Speaker 6: So yeah, that was a fun game. I don't say
- 11:07Speaker 6: I ever really want to play in those conditions ideally,
- 11:09Speaker 6: but when you get to it's really it's really cool,
- 11:11Speaker 6: and that game was obviously awesome to play in.
- 11:14Speaker 3: That is the voice of Eagles punter braid Man. It's
- 11:17Speaker 3: Adam Kaplan and Andrew de Cheko from Inside the Birds where
- 11:20Speaker 3: Chicken Pizza and Roosevelt Boulevard stop on buy. We are
- 11:23Speaker 3: here till seven pm, so listen, Braiden. One of the
- 11:27Speaker 3: things about Philly we love asking these players when they
- 11:30Speaker 3: come in. Right, Okay, you're not from Philly, you're from Texas.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Let's start with the food. What's you like the Philly
- 11:35Speaker 3: culture food? What's it like for you living out here?
- 11:37Speaker 2: I do? I love.
- 11:38Speaker 6: I mean I went to New York, was there for
- 11:40Speaker 6: three years, and the food just in the Northeast in
- 11:43Speaker 6: general is so different than I mean, I grew up
- 11:45Speaker 6: tex mex was like, you know, we're having that's around
- 11:49Speaker 6: chicken frosts day, my brother one in the eighties, well
- 11:52Speaker 6: before you're born. Yeah, it's just a lot of Southern
- 11:54Speaker 6: comfort food and like, yeah, it's it's it's way different.
- 11:57Speaker 7: I love the food up here.
- 11:58Speaker 6: The Italian food is like you just go oh, I mean,
- 12:02Speaker 6: it's hard to miss anywhere. I mean, I don't know
- 12:04Speaker 6: if I live in Cherry Hill Hill cook cool cool.
- 12:09Speaker 7: So there's there's good food everywhere there.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:11Speaker 6: We love all the Japanese food. Yeah, and then cheese
- 12:15Speaker 6: steakes obviously.
- 12:16Speaker 4: What's your favorite spot.
- 12:17Speaker 6: I'm still working on trying well. I don't know if
- 12:19Speaker 6: I have a clear cut favorite yet.
- 12:20Speaker 7: I'm still working on. I finally had Gino's pats like.
- 12:23Speaker 3: A big all the big gyms is great because you
- 12:27Speaker 3: could smell the onions from like a week away. It's
- 12:30Speaker 3: it's a great area. The like the people. Okay, so
- 12:33Speaker 3: people are intense here, and but you did play New York.
- 12:36Speaker 3: Pittsburgh's a little different. And and tex am fans fan base,
- 12:40Speaker 3: what are your thoughts on on this fan base so far?
- 12:42Speaker 6: Yeah, passionate. I mean it's like you said, it's just, uh,
- 12:46Speaker 6: you know, the the passion to be successful doesn't just
- 12:50Speaker 6: stop at the team of the organization.
- 12:52Speaker 7: It is to everyone.
- 12:54Speaker 6: And you know this is the Support's unreal, the passion,
- 12:57Speaker 6: Like you show up to the game and you feel
- 12:58Speaker 6: the atmosphere. I don't think I play in a stadium
- 13:01Speaker 6: that you can feel an atmosphere more in the NFL,
- 13:04Speaker 6: at least. I mean, I'm obviously very biased towards Texas
- 13:06Speaker 6: A and M because that one you can feel, Yeah,
- 13:09Speaker 6: but in terms of the NFL, yeah, it's just I
- 13:12Speaker 6: don't know, especially I think I felt it the most
- 13:15Speaker 6: last year in the playoffs was just like you step
- 13:17Speaker 6: in and on the first kickoff, you just feel like
- 13:20Speaker 6: it's a little bit different in the NFL. A lot
- 13:21Speaker 6: of times it just feels a lot more like a
- 13:23Speaker 6: business in the atmosphere in the NFL, but here it's
- 13:26Speaker 6: like they are all the fans are just so passionate.
- 13:28Speaker 6: It's awesome playing.
- 13:29Speaker 5: So it's fair to say that it feels like the
- 13:31Speaker 5: college atmosphere that you were referring to.
- 13:32Speaker 4: Tod A and m.
- 13:33Speaker 7: Absolutely, I think this is. Yeah, I think.
- 13:36Speaker 2: I don't.
- 13:36Speaker 6: I don't think I had ever played here in the
- 13:38Speaker 6: regular season before coming here. I think I just played
- 13:40Speaker 6: in a preseason game. But even in the preseason game,
- 13:43Speaker 6: when I play it was the Jets at here, I
- 13:45Speaker 6: was like, man, this place feels awesome, Like this is
- 13:48Speaker 6: it was one of my favorite places to.
- 13:49Speaker 7: Play before I actually came here. Sown extra excited. Yeah.
- 13:52Speaker 3: Yeah, Well here's the question before we take a first break.
- 13:55Speaker 3: Where is your Super Bowl ring right now?
- 13:57Speaker 7: It's at home? Oh yeah, you look at it at all?
- 14:00Speaker 7: I mean home home like Texas, Oh Texas. Oh I
- 14:03Speaker 7: put it.
- 14:03Speaker 6: Yeah, I kind of have all mon bike, Yeah, yeah,
- 14:07Speaker 6: I've got all my all my stuff like in you know,
- 14:10Speaker 6: all my memorabilia, all that safely guarded in Texas. So yeah,
- 14:14Speaker 6: I don't. It's not like I was pulling out the
- 14:16Speaker 6: ring to look at it every so often. I just love,
- 14:18Speaker 6: you know, love having the actual Super Bowl itself, not
- 14:21Speaker 6: so much the ring.
- 14:22Speaker 4: Yeah.

- 17:40Speaker 3: from Inside the Birds and our guest is number ten. Correct, yep,
- 17:44Speaker 3: the great punter brain man. Who's mister inside the twenty
- 17:47Speaker 3: my friend? Before we get to the interview brought to
- 17:50Speaker 3: you by the attorneys at Begley, Carl and Mandio, I
- 17:52Speaker 3: gotta ask you this one question before I forget, How
- 17:54Speaker 3: in the world did you get so good at getting
- 17:56Speaker 3: inside the twenty? Is there like a seat like I
- 17:59Speaker 3: obviously just got a technique.
- 18:00Speaker 7: Right Ah?
- 18:01Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean there's different punts. I think just mixing
- 18:03Speaker 6: it up is is good. I think I uh, in college,
- 18:06Speaker 6: I think I just had a big leg and I
- 18:07Speaker 6: think I just sait as far as I can, regardless
- 18:09Speaker 6: of where I was, And I think I had to
- 18:10Speaker 6: kind of dial that a once I got to the NFL.
- 18:12Speaker 6: So yeah, learning a bunch of new punts and then
- 18:15Speaker 6: I mean I don't think there's a better punt coverage
- 18:17Speaker 6: team in the NFL than our than our guys, you know,
- 18:20Speaker 6: Kiey Ringo and Sydney Brown on the outside inn our
- 18:22Speaker 6: entire interior.
- 18:23Speaker 7: They're just they're absolutely dogs.
- 18:25Speaker 6: I mean, Will Shipley I think ran twenty one and
- 18:27Speaker 6: a half miles an hour one of the coverage dress
- 18:28Speaker 6: the other day.
- 18:29Speaker 7: Which is outrageous.
- 18:30Speaker 5: So yeah, really yeah, auto credit to him. I have
- 18:33Speaker 5: to talk to Will about that this week.
- 18:35Speaker 7: Yeah, ask him about it.
- 18:36Speaker 5: But Kiley Ringo, he's on the Pro Bowl ballot, and
- 18:39Speaker 5: I don't think he gets enough credit for what he's
- 18:42Speaker 5: able to do as a gun or that's a that's
- 18:43Speaker 5: a role that's sort of unherold it but.
- 18:45Speaker 4: It's extremely challenging.
- 18:46Speaker 5: How how much does that help you to have someone
- 18:49Speaker 5: like that who can cover your punts? And what's that
- 18:51Speaker 5: dialogue like between the two you maybe throughout the week.
- 18:54Speaker 7: Yeah, it's huge.
- 18:54Speaker 6: I mean you hear I've heard stories about, you know,
- 18:57Speaker 6: a big time wide receivers that come in and you
- 18:59Speaker 6: know from college, a big wide receiver you're not playing
- 19:01Speaker 6: as much when trying to play gunner. And you know
- 19:04Speaker 6: there's been I can't remember who was some wide receiver
- 19:06Speaker 6: said that he went out there for a gunner rep
- 19:07Speaker 6: and he goes, I need to make this team as
- 19:08Speaker 6: a receiver because I do not want to play gunner anymore.
- 19:10Speaker 7: It is tough.
- 19:12Speaker 2: I get that.
- 19:12Speaker 6: It's really really hard, and Keeley does such a good
- 19:14Speaker 6: job of it. I mean he's taken it and really
- 19:16Speaker 6: made it his Uh, you know, he's always perfecting his craft.
- 19:20Speaker 7: And so yeah, throughout the week, a lot of prep goes.
- 19:21Speaker 6: Into it between me and him and having a game plan,
- 19:24Speaker 6: and then it's kind of letting him do what he does.
- 19:26Speaker 6: I mean that kind of gives me a little bit
- 19:28Speaker 6: of freedom to punt however I need to or want to,
- 19:31Speaker 6: because I know I've got him run down the field.
- 19:33Speaker 7: So just prepares like a total pro.
- 19:35Speaker 5: Though, and that Darius Cooper also, he was the filling
- 19:38Speaker 5: in for Sydney's roll. How did he do in his
- 19:40Speaker 5: debut as a gunner?
- 19:41Speaker 7: Yeah, he's great.
- 19:41Speaker 6: I love Coop's always just comes comes in ready to
- 19:44Speaker 6: work attitude.
- 19:45Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 19:45Speaker 6: Yeah, Ever since I saw like we kind of talked
- 19:47Speaker 6: to him a little bit in camp. We have a
- 19:49Speaker 6: lot of free time in camp, so I kind of
- 19:50Speaker 6: sat down at lunch in a few days and talked
- 19:52Speaker 6: to him. He is he's the best. He's uh, he's
- 19:55Speaker 6: such a hard work and such a humble guy. He's
- 19:56Speaker 6: a really fun guy to talk to.
- 19:57Speaker 3: Well, he's had his shoulder injury, and speaking of that,
- 19:59Speaker 3: it's time now for this week's Injury Reviewer, brought to
- 20:02Speaker 3: you by the attorneys at Begley, Carlin and Mandio. Contact
- 20:05Speaker 3: them today for a free consultation. At two and five,
- 20:08Speaker 3: it was six three six eight nine. That's two one five.
- 20:11Speaker 3: It was six three, six eight nine.
- 20:13Speaker 2: All right.
- 20:13Speaker 3: So for the Eagles, Lane john'scot the list, Frank Sprain,
- 20:17Speaker 3: there's a reason why they haven't put him on IR.
- 20:19Speaker 3: They believe he could come back for the end of
- 20:21Speaker 3: the regular season.
- 20:22Speaker 2: Folks.
- 20:22Speaker 3: That is a midfoot spray in the list, Frank Sprain,
- 20:24Speaker 3: that is. I don't know, Brad about you, but I
- 20:26Speaker 3: don't know if you've had one. I've talked to players
- 20:28Speaker 3: who have had it. We had Mike Momulla who was
- 20:29Speaker 3: an Eagles legend who uh we talked to him about.
- 20:33Speaker 3: He actually ended his career. This is before the early
- 20:35Speaker 3: stages of that injury. Andrew clubs really didn't quite know
- 20:39Speaker 3: how to handle that. Duce Staley did that hurts Duce.
- 20:42Speaker 3: Staley actually just had a set back. He actually fell
- 20:44Speaker 3: down these Vets Stadium stairs or something like that, which
- 20:47Speaker 3: was really wild. I just don't know how you do
- 20:49Speaker 3: your job midfoot spring. You gotta be able to walk.
- 20:52Speaker 3: So we'll see how Lane does. And as you know, Brandon,
- 20:55Speaker 3: you've been around Lane Johnson. Skuy's the element warrior.
- 20:58Speaker 6: Yeah, he is Uh's office people you ever met. And
- 21:02Speaker 6: I think that like is not an accident. I think
- 21:04Speaker 6: that he just has a mentality. But b he works
- 21:06Speaker 6: his tail off in the offseason. I mean you know
- 21:08Speaker 6: that bit. I'm sure you've seen a big big Barney
- 21:11Speaker 6: has like he's.
- 21:11Speaker 7: You know, he's always craised that.
- 21:13Speaker 6: Yeah he's so he's not It's not an accident that
- 21:15Speaker 6: he's like a tough guy mentally and physically.
- 21:17Speaker 4: Absolutely absolutely.
- 21:18Speaker 3: The training staff speaking of injuries, and we'll get to
- 21:21Speaker 3: the charge in a second. One of the things that
- 21:23Speaker 3: I that I admire you ways to knock on wob
- 21:25Speaker 3: with this stuff. But and they brought in Arstanoda, who
- 21:29Speaker 3: is the guy who sort of helped them evaluate the
- 21:31Speaker 3: They were before you get were here, they were having
- 21:33Speaker 3: injury problems. It was like twenty twenty one. Not a
- 21:35Speaker 3: hamstring problem, soft tissue. Man, this team when you look
- 21:39Speaker 3: at the interport Andrew, you know this, they don't equals,
- 21:41Speaker 3: don't have a lot of players each week.
- 21:42Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 21:42Speaker 5: I mean you look around the league and there's a
- 21:44Speaker 5: lot of teams who are in dire straits in terms
- 21:46Speaker 5: of injuries. But I think at this stage of the game, Branden,
- 21:49Speaker 5: it's it's pretty remarkable where this team is from a
- 21:52Speaker 5: health perspective.
- 21:53Speaker 7: Absolutely. Yeah.
- 21:54Speaker 6: Like you said, I think it's a huge credit to
- 21:55Speaker 6: our training staff and our strength staff. I think they
- 21:57Speaker 6: do such a good job preparing us in and you know,
- 22:00Speaker 6: I think listening to the team as a whole in
- 22:02Speaker 6: terms of as the season goes on. You know, some
- 22:04Speaker 6: of these players have been in League ten, twelve, fourteen
- 22:06Speaker 6: years to where you know they kind of have a
- 22:09Speaker 6: feeling about which which way their bodies are feeling. I
- 22:13Speaker 6: think that, you know, credits to coaching staff, training staff,
- 22:16Speaker 6: strength staff.
- 22:17Speaker 7: They do such a good job.
- 22:17Speaker 6: Of listening and really creating a game plan and getting
- 22:20Speaker 6: in front of something before they get behind it.
- 22:22Speaker 3: All Right, So I'm assume the first practice is Thursday,
- 22:24Speaker 3: because you play the Liday. Yeah, on Monday night, what
- 22:28Speaker 3: do you do to recover from a game that we're
- 22:30Speaker 3: doing an injury reveal? What do you just what do
- 22:32Speaker 3: you do to get your your legs right for Thursday's
- 22:34Speaker 3: first practice?
- 22:36Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean this was a very, very long week,
- 22:38Speaker 6: so I think it's a lot easier to recover. But
- 22:39Speaker 6: when you got a quick turnaround like we did going
- 22:41Speaker 6: into Black Friday, I think just getting ahead of it
- 22:44Speaker 6: and then their practice schedule for the week, They've been
- 22:46Speaker 6: really good about that. I know some teams really want
- 22:48Speaker 6: to push it and try to get a bunch more
- 22:49Speaker 6: work in, but there's ways to get good work in.
- 22:51Speaker 7: Without having to physically toil your guys.
- 22:54Speaker 6: For For me personally, recovery is all about I think
- 22:57Speaker 6: just movement. I have begun a lot more or to
- 23:01Speaker 6: do stretching, mobility rather than like ice tubs and compression.
- 23:04Speaker 6: I think I think just for me, moving and getting
- 23:07Speaker 6: blood flow has done better than resting and sitting for me. Yeah,
- 23:11Speaker 6: so I'll get out, just go for as many walks
- 23:13Speaker 6: I can. You know, do like mobility at the at
- 23:16Speaker 6: the training room and getting hot tubs, cold tubs.
- 23:18Speaker 2: Do you do infrared and stuff like that.
- 23:20Speaker 7: I've tried it a few times. I don't.
- 23:21Speaker 6: I'm not like a frequent frequent flyer on the.
- 23:24Speaker 4: On the day of the game, do you have a
- 23:27Speaker 4: regimen that you go through.
- 23:28Speaker 6: Yeah, it's a little bit abbreviated for like a one
- 23:31Speaker 6: o'clock start because it's so early in the day.
- 23:34Speaker 7: Yeah, but if we have like a.
- 23:34Speaker 6: Four o'clock or an eight o'clock start, I'll probably get
- 23:37Speaker 6: to the stadium, like, go to the training room, start
- 23:40Speaker 6: all my stretches and all that stuff. Go to the stadium,
- 23:43Speaker 6: get there about four hours early, go out feel the
- 23:45Speaker 6: field and do all my stretches. That can get a
- 23:47Speaker 6: bit abbreviated if the weather's really bad, if it's colder,
- 23:49Speaker 6: I stay out there a little bit less so unproudly,
- 23:52Speaker 6: but yeah, I think that it's just a slow roll
- 23:54Speaker 6: into the game rather than trying to get going quickly.
- 23:56Speaker 3: To the to the trainer stretcher or do you do
- 23:59Speaker 3: it on your own? Just pretty much all my own?
- 24:00Speaker 3: Oh really okay?
- 24:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean for me, what do you do, by
- 24:03Speaker 2: the way, what kind of stretches do you do?
- 24:05Speaker 6: I mean, I have a routine now, it's probably about
- 24:07Speaker 6: half an hour long a doo every day. I just
- 24:09Speaker 6: make sure I get all the spots that I need.
- 24:11Speaker 6: So basically I work from my from my waist down.
- 24:13Speaker 6: I do hip flexer's squads, gutes. Yeah, yeah, yeah, wow,
- 24:17Speaker 6: yea yeah. I curious what you would do? Okay, Yeah,
- 24:19Speaker 6: So I kind of just work at each muscle group
- 24:21Speaker 6: and each joint on the way down and do it
- 24:23Speaker 6: that way.
- 24:24Speaker 4: What would you.
- 24:24Speaker 5: Say is the biggest lesson that you learned throughout your
- 24:26Speaker 5: career from your rookie year to now that you've that
- 24:29Speaker 5: you sort of carried with.
- 24:30Speaker 6: You, man, I think, honestly at them. Yeah, there's a
- 24:35Speaker 6: lot of lessons I've learned, both good and bad. I
- 24:37Speaker 6: think probably for me, it's when you're in the building,
- 24:41Speaker 6: be present and be in the building, and when you're
- 24:43Speaker 6: out of the building, be present there and get away
- 24:45Speaker 6: from the building too. I think that there is such
- 24:47Speaker 6: uh such a balance it needs to be had. I
- 24:49Speaker 6: think that I probably got a little burnt out my
- 24:51Speaker 6: first couple of years in the NFL. I think I
- 24:53Speaker 6: was just at facility for so long. My my wife
- 24:56Speaker 6: now my girlfriend at the time, Kylie, she wasn't with
- 25:00Speaker 6: me in New York because I think I had pretty
- 25:02Speaker 6: much nothing to do except go to the Cilly other time,
- 25:04Speaker 6: so I was always there. I think now going home
- 25:07Speaker 6: to her, you know, and my dog. I think just
- 25:11Speaker 6: getting away from from football as much as you know
- 25:13Speaker 6: that the balance in the off season is kind of
- 25:15Speaker 6: the same with that. So I think be present wherever
- 25:17Speaker 6: you are is probably what I would have told myself
- 25:19Speaker 6: earlier on sure.
- 25:20Speaker 2: Sure.
- 25:20Speaker 3: Now for the Chargers, Justin Herbert, their quarterback has got
- 25:23Speaker 3: a broken left hand. Now, he had surgery yesterday. He
- 25:26Speaker 3: wants to play. He's got to get cleared to play now.
- 25:29Speaker 3: You know, as someone who has to holiday football, you
- 25:31Speaker 3: get it hiked to you.
- 25:33Speaker 2: Well, so does he.
- 25:34Speaker 3: And he's got to be able to grip the football somehow.
- 25:36Speaker 3: So and they've got obviously the extra day they're not traveling.
- 25:40Speaker 3: You've kicked in that stadium before, you did last year
- 25:42Speaker 3: and the year before that, I believe, so. Uh, and Andrew,
- 25:45Speaker 3: I know you've been there, but so far a bunch
- 25:46Speaker 3: of times, right, yeah.
- 25:47Speaker 4: Yeah, Yeah, that's one of my favorite stadiums.
- 25:50Speaker 2: What do you think of that stadium?
- 25:51Speaker 7: It's it's unreal.
- 25:53Speaker 6: I just think that visually it's so I don't know,
- 25:56Speaker 6: it's just a shock when you show up. You know,
- 25:58Speaker 6: you see it from the outside, and it looks really
- 25:59Speaker 6: cool on the inside, and there's the giant three hundred
- 26:02Speaker 6: and sixty degree scoreboard you can look at from inside
- 26:04Speaker 6: or outside. It's just like the wildest I heard. They
- 26:06Speaker 6: went like they doubled their budget by accident pretty much so,
- 26:09Speaker 6: and I believe that place is pretty unreal.
- 26:11Speaker 5: Yeah, it looks like something out of Star Trek the
- 26:13Speaker 5: next Generation or something like that. But when you are
- 26:16Speaker 5: kicking there, is there anything you have to be mindful
- 26:18Speaker 5: of because we talked about the three D scoreboard and
- 26:21Speaker 5: things like that.
- 26:22Speaker 4: Do you have to do anything differently or be cognitive
- 26:23Speaker 4: of something?
- 26:24Speaker 7: Not? Really, that scoreboard's way up there. Dallas is much lower.
- 26:29Speaker 3: It's just because did you who hit it? Who was
- 26:31Speaker 3: upunter hit it? Someone did recently. I couldn't remember if
- 26:34Speaker 3: it was you or someone else.
- 26:35Speaker 7: Someone told me on the TV copy that just anouncers
- 26:37Speaker 7: thought I hit it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, you're right right, Yeah,
- 26:39Speaker 7: yeah I did. It was just it was it was
- 26:41Speaker 7: left to be.
- 26:42Speaker 6: You have to hit it right down the middle of
- 26:43Speaker 6: the field to hit it, so luckily that was outside
- 26:45Speaker 6: of me.
- 26:45Speaker 7: You do it warm ups, Yeah, I've done.
- 26:47Speaker 6: If you don't and in college, I played there once
- 26:49Speaker 6: a year against Arkansas every year, and so I didn't
- 26:52Speaker 6: start my first year. So all I would do in
- 26:53Speaker 6: pregame warmups is try to hit the scoreboard like it
- 26:55Speaker 6: was just my entire warm up. So I was fun.
- 26:58Speaker 6: It's possible. You just got to hit it right down
- 26:59Speaker 6: the middle of field, which is not I deal.
- 27:02Speaker 5: Now, you have a close knit relationship with with Jake,
- 27:05Speaker 5: with with Cal with Charlie. Do you guys do anything
- 27:08Speaker 5: off the field? And I know, I think I was
- 27:10Speaker 5: talking to Charlie earlier in the season. You guys went
- 27:12Speaker 5: golfing in the off season and things like that.
- 27:15Speaker 6: Yeah, we try to hang out a much we can
- 27:17Speaker 6: off the field. You know, everyone's got their families and
- 27:19Speaker 6: something to go to home too, and that's something also
- 27:21Speaker 6: you want to hang out there. But these families gets
- 27:23Speaker 6: know everybody, their wives, children and stuff like that. I
- 27:25Speaker 6: think us three, Yeah, we've golfed a lot. Jake and
- 27:28Speaker 6: I in particular golf a time.
- 27:29Speaker 2: When we can great because he's mister athlete.
- 27:32Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 27:32Speaker 6: Yeah, so I think we just all, I don't know,
- 27:34Speaker 6: we just try to get get out and do stuff while.
- 27:37Speaker 7: While we can.
- 27:38Speaker 6: And ota is when the schedule's not quite as packed
- 27:40Speaker 6: because when the season comes, you pretty much, you know,
- 27:42Speaker 6: we're always at the facility with each other, not as
- 27:44Speaker 6: much away from facility.
- 27:45Speaker 5: Do you feel like there's carryover with that, like like
- 27:47Speaker 5: you can feel it like on the field, that camaraderie.
- 27:49Speaker 7: Yeah, definitely. Yeah. I think it's a lot. Yeah, it's
- 27:52Speaker 7: a lot easier.
- 27:53Speaker 6: Guys talk about a lot easier being in college to
- 27:55Speaker 6: do that because you're with each other year round versus
- 27:58Speaker 6: you show up together in the NFL kind of like midyear.
- 28:01Speaker 6: But I think that Chris Sirianni and everybody here does
- 28:03Speaker 6: a great job of getting us together. And you know,
- 28:06Speaker 6: sometimes on off days or days where we might have something,
- 28:09Speaker 6: we go you know, bowling, or we go shoot some
- 28:12Speaker 6: hoops or do whatever, and it's we have a lot
- 28:14Speaker 6: of team building, which I think has been really really good.
- 28:17Speaker 3: And a couple more injuries so we know that true
- 28:19Speaker 3: mccoba had the surgery for a broken right ankle. The
- 28:22Speaker 3: question is Kenny, if you goes make a deep playoffron
- 28:24Speaker 3: Kenny return DeVante Smith. I'm sure he'll play. He came
- 28:26Speaker 3: back in the game, but man, he's got a couple
- 28:28Speaker 3: of injuries. So you got to look out for that.
- 28:30Speaker 3: And by the way, Trey Lance is justin Herbert's backup
- 28:33Speaker 3: Andrew who was a very high first round pick for
- 28:36Speaker 3: the Niners. It didn't work out, and it's just funny
- 28:38Speaker 3: how things work out for teams and Brock Party, mister irrelevant,
- 28:41Speaker 3: it's a n quarterback. You just this business, Brandon. You've
- 28:44Speaker 3: been in the league long enough you never quite know
- 28:47Speaker 3: what's going to happen from and you've you know, you've
- 28:49Speaker 3: been with a couple of teams here when you got
- 28:54Speaker 3: to Philly. By the way, was there the belief that
- 28:57Speaker 3: you would be the puntered?
- 28:58Speaker 2: I forget.
- 28:58Speaker 3: It's been a while now. So did you have anyone
- 29:00Speaker 3: in competition with you? Or were you the guy because.
- 29:02Speaker 4: You went you went to the practice squad first, right.
- 29:04Speaker 6: Well, I came in week three of twenty three, was
- 29:07Speaker 6: my first week here, and so yeah, I just came
- 29:10Speaker 6: in and started right away. I don't know, I think
- 29:12Speaker 6: there was maybe a Thursday night game in week two,
- 29:15Speaker 6: and so I had Friday, Saturday, Sunday and then the
- 29:18Speaker 6: whole next week to get going and you know, work
- 29:20Speaker 6: with everybody.
- 29:21Speaker 7: So yeah, I kind of came in right away. Was
- 29:22Speaker 7: just you know thrown into it, which I kind of liked.
- 29:25Speaker 6: I was on Steelers made their fifty three man roster
- 29:28Speaker 6: and then got released later and then came tried out
- 29:32Speaker 6: signed two weeks later and then so yeah, start a
- 29:35Speaker 6: week three, all right.
- 29:37Speaker 3: So the one we're gonna be watching is justin Herbert
- 29:39Speaker 3: Kenny practice starting Thursday, because that is their first day
- 29:43Speaker 3: of practice, and the last day is obviously on Saturday.
- 29:46Speaker 3: Sunday'd be the walkthrough. Monday night is the game at

- 33:14Speaker 3: from Inside the Birds and Russell with Eagles star punter.
- 33:17Speaker 3: I say that, braid Man, because dude, you're killing it
- 33:19Speaker 3: this year. Thank you, keep it up. Knock On Wood.
- 33:22Speaker 3: Thanks knock on Wood. Although he did say, see, Braden
- 33:25Speaker 3: was a linebacker in high school, which I learned tonight.
- 33:28Speaker 3: But yeah, but a little bit the back issues, I
- 33:31Speaker 3: get it. You got to keep that thing clean, man,
- 33:33Speaker 3: because backs are tough.
- 33:35Speaker 2: Man. They're tricky.
- 33:36Speaker 6: Yeah, they're finicky. There are nothing to be played with,
- 33:38Speaker 6: for sure. I learned that the hard way.
- 33:40Speaker 5: So I don't know if you were watching Monday Night Football,
- 33:42Speaker 5: but your old Special Teams coach Jeremy Springer I think
- 33:45Speaker 5: he was your coordinator for two years there.
- 33:48Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, he was actually our he was like a
- 33:50Speaker 6: he was our especial teams GA at A and M
- 33:52Speaker 6: my freshman sophomore year, and then he climbed the ladder
- 33:56Speaker 6: in the NFL really quickly, so it's really cool to
- 33:58Speaker 6: see him. So I had him and then the Specialons
- 34:01Speaker 6: corner on the other side of the ball, Michael Gobriol,
- 34:03Speaker 6: the Giants. He was with me at the Jets as
- 34:05Speaker 6: an assistant too, seeing them kind of battle that was
- 34:07Speaker 6: really cool.
- 34:08Speaker 7: Yeah. Well yeah, seeing them much younger sells with me.
- 34:10Speaker 6: And then now it's it's it's cool to see uh,
- 34:12Speaker 6: you know, more guys in the FL you've been with.
- 34:14Speaker 5: Hey, there were the Patriots were lighting it up on
- 34:16Speaker 5: special teams, Marcus Jones with the return Christian Ellis.
- 34:18Speaker 4: I'm sure you know, yeah, Chris, Yeah, yeah, it's all
- 34:20Speaker 4: over there.
- 34:21Speaker 7: Yes, Springers got those guys fired up over there playing well.
- 34:24Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, guys, it's time now for this week's
- 34:26Speaker 3: Penworth Financial Keys. So the game and the key to
- 34:28Speaker 3: are your financial future is Penworth Financial. Call them today
- 34:32Speaker 3: too six seven nine ninety seven, four five oh three,
- 34:35Speaker 3: or visit them at Penworth dot com. The Eagles eight
- 34:39Speaker 3: and four will play at the Chargers Monday night. The
- 34:42Speaker 3: Chargers are also eating for By the way, you guys
- 34:43Speaker 3: leave Saturday or or or Sunday for that lea Sunday Sunday. Yeah,
- 34:47Speaker 3: I know, it's it's interesting, Brad. The Chargers left for
- 34:50Speaker 3: Jacksonville three time zones. Jackson blieve or not, Florida is
- 34:53Speaker 3: in the Eastern time zone. They left on a Friday.
- 34:55Speaker 3: I think what happened to them that game where they
- 34:57Speaker 3: got smoked at Jacksonville. I think they had an emotional
- 35:00Speaker 3: they played a huge game before that. That happens sometimes
- 35:04Speaker 3: mostly staying up for games.
- 35:06Speaker 2: I know, does that do you? Does that?
- 35:08Speaker 7: Ever?
- 35:10Speaker 2: You've been in NFL for a while, now, you've been
- 35:11Speaker 2: with three teams, does that like? Is it hard to
- 35:14Speaker 2: come down after have an emotional win?
- 35:17Speaker 6: Honestly, I don't know if it's hard to come down
- 35:19Speaker 6: form emotional win. I think that a physical turnaround it's
- 35:22Speaker 6: much harder to deal with than an emotional turnaround. But
- 35:25Speaker 6: it's also as very like player to player, I think
- 35:27Speaker 6: not so much team to team with that kind of stuff.
- 35:30Speaker 7: But yeah, I mean, when we show up on Monday,
- 35:32Speaker 7: if we have a big win on Sunday, we show
- 35:33Speaker 7: up Monday. You know we felt good on Sunday night,
- 35:36Speaker 7: we show up Monday. We still have things to fix.
- 35:38Speaker 6: And you know, we get We watch film the exact
- 35:41Speaker 6: same way after a big win as if we you know,
- 35:43Speaker 6: didn't have like correction, even if yeah, exactly if we lost,
- 35:46Speaker 6: or if we had a blowout, or if there's a
- 35:47Speaker 6: big win, whatever the case is, we have the exact
- 35:50Speaker 6: same process to get through every Monday.
- 35:51Speaker 7: So I think that kind of helps us pretty set.
- 35:53Speaker 5: Yeah, so how do you personally map out a long
- 35:55Speaker 5: flight to the West Coast?
- 35:57Speaker 4: Do you get some sleep? Is there anything you're watching
- 36:00Speaker 4: on Netflix?
- 36:00Speaker 6: Yeah, there's I'm always looking for a new series, so
- 36:02Speaker 6: any recommendations they'll take. But yeah, I just download a
- 36:06Speaker 6: bunch of movies. I'm a big movie guys. I think
- 36:08Speaker 6: I just try to find new movies. It's harder now
- 36:10Speaker 6: with all these streaming services to find I find newer movies,
- 36:13Speaker 6: Like I used to love going to the movie theaters
- 36:15Speaker 6: and now it's just all streaming stuff.
- 36:16Speaker 7: So it's kind of done a lot of weird.
- 36:18Speaker 5: Yeah, it takes you like a half an hour just
- 36:21Speaker 5: to scroll through and then I just give.
- 36:22Speaker 6: Up exactly, and then you just wasted half an hour
- 36:24Speaker 6: of your free to night or whatever it is.
- 36:26Speaker 5: If I think of anything that comes to mind, usually
- 36:28Speaker 5: I talk to Will about it. He watches different things
- 36:30Speaker 5: on Netflix. I'll I'll try to I'll try to get
- 36:33Speaker 5: to you.
- 36:33Speaker 7: I'm always open new suggestions.
- 36:35Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, keys to the game.
- 36:37Speaker 3: So obviously getting the running game, Bradon going gotta gotta
- 36:39Speaker 3: get gotta get him going ta Kwan and also tech
- 36:43Speaker 3: Bigsby Andrew, that's a guy. Every time he touched his boy,
- 36:47Speaker 3: he does a good job.
- 36:48Speaker 5: Yeah, he's explosive and you know, uh, Nick Sirianni said,
- 36:52Speaker 5: you know, leave two or three weeks ago that he's
- 36:54Speaker 5: been getting a lot of reps in practice, and he
- 36:55Speaker 5: practices really well. Talking to Tank last week, he even
- 36:59Speaker 5: says that when he goes back and watches some of
- 37:01Speaker 5: his carries that he doesn't realize how he does some
- 37:03Speaker 5: of that because he kind of creates his own holes
- 37:05Speaker 5: something he breaks him outside and and he finishes runs.
- 37:08Speaker 5: He is a tough runner, so he definitely provides a
- 37:11Speaker 5: spark when he's in there.
- 37:12Speaker 3: And then you're getting hurts. I think comfortble early Andrew
- 37:15Speaker 3: and Brandon. I think that's something that they can do again.
- 37:17Speaker 3: You don't have to worry about whether which is a
- 37:19Speaker 3: big thing. You know, the game is indoors. And also Andrew,
- 37:24Speaker 3: one of the things I like is that Hurts and
- 37:26Speaker 3: AJ Brown are getting together here. I mean they're starting
- 37:28Speaker 3: to develop their rhythm because you know what, DeVante's been awesome,
- 37:31Speaker 3: but he can't do it on his own.
- 37:32Speaker 2: We got to get a J. Brown.
- 37:33Speaker 3: The Eagles do have to get a J. Brown involved in.
- 37:35Speaker 3: AJ is coming on big time right now.
- 37:37Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 37:37Speaker 5: I mean I've always said good things happen when AJ
- 37:40Speaker 5: Brown gets the football, and he got He got the
- 37:42Speaker 5: ball early in that game, and that was a secondary
- 37:45Speaker 5: that got Kyler Gordon back. They got jaywhen Johnson back,
- 37:47Speaker 5: who I believe is one of the best corners in
- 37:49Speaker 5: the NFL. And AJ had his way and him and
- 37:52Speaker 5: Jay when Morale, you know, they they were on the
- 37:54Speaker 5: same page.
- 37:55Speaker 3: AJ Brown watching him practice. I mean, tell us about
- 37:58Speaker 3: AJ Brown what you see from him?
- 38:00Speaker 6: Man, It's yeah, he's a physical presence, that's for sure.
- 38:03Speaker 6: He's makes he just makes some of the most ridiculous
- 38:06Speaker 6: catch I've ever seen, and then he kind of just
- 38:08Speaker 6: pretends like he just he's just so normal about it too.
- 38:12Speaker 6: Like on the field he'll make some ridiculous one hand
- 38:14Speaker 6: to grab and toe tab on the sideline and then
- 38:16Speaker 6: he just jogs right back in the huddle. So uh yeah,
- 38:18Speaker 6: physical presence. He's just so talented, and yeah, it works,
- 38:21Speaker 6: it works the tail off.
- 38:22Speaker 3: So the first practice, this is twenty When did he
- 38:25Speaker 3: get here?
- 38:25Speaker 2: Twenty two?
- 38:26Speaker 9: Right?
- 38:26Speaker 4: Twenty two?
- 38:27Speaker 3: Okay, so it's a ota and we were waiting for
- 38:30Speaker 3: him to go against Sleigh and it was a far
- 38:34Speaker 3: like we're you know, they put media's here, you guys
- 38:36Speaker 3: are you know it was going on over here and
- 38:40Speaker 3: we can't get insto replay.
- 38:41Speaker 2: You know, we just don't. I don't know if they
- 38:43Speaker 2: had the video, but you know the video at the
- 38:45Speaker 2: I don't know if they were doing it.
- 38:46Speaker 9: Then.
- 38:46Speaker 3: Yeah, but Aj makes his catch, Slave's litered right on
- 38:50Speaker 3: top of him, like literally like glue to him. I'm like,
- 38:53Speaker 3: how did he wait a minute, how did he do that?
- 38:55Speaker 3: Because he has these late hands, he to I've never
- 38:57Speaker 3: heard of this before because of late hands. He gives
- 39:00Speaker 3: this very subtle shove he never gets like rarely good.
- 39:03Speaker 3: I won't say everybody he rarely gets good for Pi Andrew.
- 39:06Speaker 3: You've seen this guy from day one. You've been in
- 39:08Speaker 3: just a better practice obviously training camp especially or OTAs.
- 39:11Speaker 4: Yeah, your thoughts on this guy physical?
- 39:13Speaker 5: I mean, in my opinion, best receiver in the NFL physical.
- 39:16Speaker 5: There's not a corner that there's not a corner that
- 39:19Speaker 5: can you know, contend with him.
- 39:20Speaker 4: And I think he does a good job with body positioning.
- 39:23Speaker 5: And when the ball's in the air, those fifty to
- 39:25Speaker 5: fifty balls are you know, maybe seventy thirty or eighty
- 39:27Speaker 5: twenty when they go to AJ So yeah, I mean
- 39:30Speaker 5: there's it's something that I think initially you could take
- 39:33Speaker 5: for granted, but seeing him work every day and you know,
- 39:36Speaker 5: it's something that you he makes the you know, the
- 39:39Speaker 5: ordinary or the extraordinary look ordinary.
- 39:41Speaker 4: Because he does it with such regularity.
- 39:43Speaker 3: And also getting hurts protected a little bit better. Got
- 39:45Speaker 3: to do a better job with that. And let's let's
- 39:46Speaker 3: get to special teams. Brain, what's the key for you
- 39:49Speaker 3: getting ready for this game when you get there?
- 39:52Speaker 6: Man, I think just containing there, guys, and I think
- 39:55Speaker 6: physicality is going to be the same theme every week,
- 39:58Speaker 6: especially for a coach play. I mean, we're got out
- 40:00Speaker 6: physical a moost best teams and then yeah, I just
- 40:02Speaker 6: think containing their returners. You know, they got a I
- 40:06Speaker 6: think they've got a good set of returners. I know
- 40:08Speaker 6: one of their so I was actually roommate with one
- 40:10Speaker 6: of their new special teamers on there on the on
- 40:12Speaker 6: the team, Travon Williams.
- 40:14Speaker 7: Yeah, so he.
- 40:18Speaker 6: Yes, he's a great special teamer, So it would be
- 40:19Speaker 6: fun to get with him again. He was my roommate
- 40:22Speaker 6: for four years, three years in college. Yeah, a good
- 40:25Speaker 6: plan against but yeah, in turn special teams, I think that, uh,
- 40:28Speaker 6: the same theme is gonna be always physicality and then
- 40:30Speaker 6: just containing their contending returners.
- 40:32Speaker 5: Now now Britain, Britain Covey former gotten to know him,
- 40:36Speaker 5: you know, talking to him for the last few seasons.
- 40:38Speaker 5: I know he's very meticulous in how he approaches things
- 40:41Speaker 5: and he you know, all the stones that he'd make
- 40:43Speaker 5: sure he doesn't leave unturned. And do you guys have
- 40:45Speaker 5: any conversations throughout the week because I know that whole
- 40:49Speaker 5: meet with the gunners and the return unit and things
- 40:51Speaker 5: like that.
- 40:51Speaker 4: Does he pick your brain on anything.
- 40:53Speaker 7: All the time.
- 40:54Speaker 6: Yeah, he's uh, he's willing, he's willing to take anything
- 40:57Speaker 6: from that anyone can provide. So he's always asked some
- 41:00Speaker 6: questions always and you can tell he's prepared the way
- 41:03Speaker 6: he talks. You know that he before the week's even start,
- 41:06Speaker 6: he's already watched film on their punter. He knows what
- 41:08Speaker 6: the tendencies are, what he likes to kick, what he
- 41:10Speaker 6: doesn't like to kick. You know, if he's showing different
- 41:12Speaker 6: ways he's gonna punt. So Yeah, Britain's as true professional
- 41:16Speaker 6: he's and he's he makes it a lot.
- 41:18Speaker 7: Of fun too.
- 41:18Speaker 6: I think that he kind of challenges himself and almost
- 41:20Speaker 6: plays a little bit of games with himself.
- 41:22Speaker 7: You're in practice to make it more challenging.
- 41:24Speaker 6: That way the games feel because for him some of
- 41:26Speaker 6: his decision making it makes the game, see it feel
- 41:29Speaker 6: slow for him because he's just so good at it,
- 41:31Speaker 6: and I think he just works on it in practice
- 41:33Speaker 6: and then it just becomes a natural.
- 41:34Speaker 4: Yeah, he stopped me. He was like thirty five miles
- 41:36Speaker 4: an hour wins Thursday. Yeah, or I didn't already that Friday,
- 41:39Speaker 4: Like he already he already was on it.
- 41:41Speaker 3: That's actually what I wanted to ask, because we talked
- 41:42Speaker 3: about whether briefly before, But do you you know you're
- 41:46Speaker 3: looking at an app on Monday, You're like, Okay, I
- 41:49Speaker 3: got to know what it's going to look like you
- 41:50Speaker 3: or do they just provide a weather report for you.
- 41:53Speaker 7: Uh.
- 41:53Speaker 6: Everyone's kind of got their own, their own weather system
- 41:57Speaker 6: app that they swear by, and then we all just
- 41:59Speaker 6: kind of it's usually somewhere between what everybody else thinks.
- 42:03Speaker 4: It's yeah accurate, Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 42:05Speaker 2: Hour by hour.
- 42:06Speaker 3: I'm big because I play tennis outside. We can't do
- 42:08Speaker 3: it now, but I want to know three days from
- 42:10Speaker 3: not can they play outside or not?
- 42:11Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 42:11Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, you got the weather, the weather app, you
- 42:13Speaker 6: got acuweather. You've got these foreign apps that I've gotten
- 42:16Speaker 6: that are supposed to be really good really and they
- 42:17Speaker 6: show you you got to share. They visually show you
- 42:20Speaker 6: the win on the map too, which is cool. I
- 42:21Speaker 6: think it shows you the flow of the way. So
- 42:23Speaker 6: everyone's kind of got their app they swear by.
- 42:25Speaker 3: So one thing when you get to the stadium right now,
- 42:30Speaker 3: this is an indoor game. You don't have to worry
- 42:32Speaker 3: about the conditions, so it's your approach different.
- 42:36Speaker 7: I mean, yeah, I think there's less.
- 42:38Speaker 6: I kick a bunch in pregame to feel out the
- 42:40Speaker 6: wind when there's wind or whatever.
- 42:42Speaker 7: The case is.
- 42:43Speaker 6: And in indoor games, I probably don't kick as much
- 42:46Speaker 6: because I don't know, like, I don't have to know
- 42:48Speaker 6: how to adjust anything. So I just pretty much have
- 42:51Speaker 6: to get warm for indoor games, which is a good feeling.
- 42:53Speaker 6: I definitely sleep better when we play indoors. But yeah,
- 42:56Speaker 6: just showing up earlier to you know, weather games is
- 43:00Speaker 6: in kicking a little bit more to get adjusted because
- 43:02Speaker 6: then not only does he get warmed up, you got
- 43:03Speaker 6: to really feel with the wind and the or the
- 43:05Speaker 6: rain or know however it's affecting it.
- 43:08Speaker 5: Yeah, So, Michael Clay, I I've always enjoyed my conversations
- 43:11Speaker 5: with Michael and and I'm impressed with his just grasp
- 43:16Speaker 5: and understanding and catering to the strengths of his players.
- 43:19Speaker 4: What in your estimation makes him a great coach.
- 43:23Speaker 6: Like you said, he knows his players, and he gets
- 43:25Speaker 6: to know his players, which is really really awesome. Everyone,
- 43:28Speaker 6: all the special teams appreciated.
- 43:30Speaker 7: That's why everybody speaks so highly of him.
- 43:31Speaker 6: He just gets to know everybody, not only on the field,
- 43:34Speaker 6: but off the field, and I think that helps him
- 43:36Speaker 6: make good decisions during the week in games, just because
- 43:40Speaker 6: he knows kind of whatever he's thinking because he really
- 43:43Speaker 6: goes out of his way to talk to guys and
- 43:44Speaker 6: build relationship with him. So he's built great relationships with
- 43:47Speaker 6: pretty much all our special teamers at our core guys
- 43:50Speaker 6: and the specials obviously, So I think just him building
- 43:54Speaker 6: relationships has made him a really good coach too.
- 43:57Speaker 5: Does he have a soccer background, because I oftentimes will
- 43:59Speaker 5: see him befo we're practiced or even in training camps
- 44:01Speaker 5: and he's kicking the soccer ball round with you guys.
- 44:03Speaker 7: Yeah, I think he grew up playing soccer a little bit.
- 44:05Speaker 6: He's definitely he's one of the more talented people I
- 44:07Speaker 6: think I've ever met. He's I've seen him drop kick
- 44:10Speaker 6: a fifty yard field goal. He just got like.
- 44:12Speaker 2: Crazy Michael Klay.
- 44:13Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm telling he he is like the movies White soccer.
- 44:16Speaker 7: He's one of the more interesting men in the world
- 44:18Speaker 7: for real, he is.
- 44:19Speaker 2: He loves golf.
- 44:19Speaker 6: I heard, Yeah, he loves golf. Golf in any weather
- 44:23Speaker 6: there is. He long snapped in college. He you know,
- 44:26Speaker 6: can drop kick field goals.
- 44:27Speaker 3: He plays this guy that's always say I said, well,
- 44:31Speaker 3: kickers usually the weird ones that I've known at least
- 44:34Speaker 3: for the years.
- 44:35Speaker 2: But that that's wow, Holy smokes. I don't even know
- 44:37Speaker 2: Michael Clay, but I know people who know him. That's
- 44:39Speaker 2: that's interesting.
- 44:40Speaker 7: Man of many talents.
- 44:41Speaker 3: For there's one more guy we didn't talk about. That's
- 44:43Speaker 3: the legend Joe Panuncio. What could you tell us about him?
- 44:45Speaker 7: Joe P is the man. Joe P is. Uh, anything
- 44:48Speaker 7: you need done, Joe P Can help you get it done.
- 44:50Speaker 7: I mean he is.
- 44:52Speaker 6: I think he is such a good guy and wants
- 44:55Speaker 6: to be of service to anyone, Like anyone in the building.
- 44:58Speaker 6: He wants to be the one that or is not
- 45:00Speaker 6: that is served, which I think is which is really awesome.
- 45:04Speaker 6: He is which willing to help anybody who needs it
- 45:06Speaker 6: or wants it, and he's just a great guy to
- 45:09Speaker 6: be around.
- 45:10Speaker 7: Just vibes wise.
- 45:11Speaker 2: What's he doing for you guys?
- 45:13Speaker 6: I mean especially he helps He helps us prepare a lot,
- 45:16Speaker 6: He helps coach Clay a lot with Tyler Brown, helps
- 45:19Speaker 6: us during drills, helps out with you know, advanced scouting
- 45:22Speaker 6: for the week. He just kind of is a do
- 45:24Speaker 6: it all kind of guy.
- 45:25Speaker 5: Okay, So we brought up Will and he's done a
- 45:27Speaker 5: really nice job as the personal protector on punt and
- 45:30Speaker 5: with taking that kind of role, which obviously demands a
- 45:33Speaker 5: lot of communication. Do you to have dialogue throughout the
- 45:36Speaker 5: game based off protections and things like that, maybe something
- 45:39Speaker 5: you're noticing.
- 45:40Speaker 6: Yeah, for sure, I mean he does a he I'm
- 45:42Speaker 6: not as involved in the conversation with protection just because
- 45:45Speaker 6: I don't see it as much because I'm not directly
- 45:48Speaker 6: involved in it. I'm kind of looking down at the
- 45:49Speaker 6: ball the whole time, so I'm not as involved with those,
- 45:52Speaker 6: but just kind of game plan wise, if we want to,
- 45:54Speaker 6: you know, change up tempo on the snap count or
- 45:56Speaker 6: do whatever we Definitely he does a great job with that.
- 45:58Speaker 6: As soon as the play is over, he's wanting to
- 46:00Speaker 6: worry about the next play and like think about what
- 46:02Speaker 6: we can do better.
- 46:03Speaker 5: So so another player, one more I have to ask
- 46:06Speaker 5: you about because he's just been dominant on special team.
- 46:08Speaker 5: That's cam lot too. He flies around, He hits everything.
- 46:12Speaker 5: That means, what are your what are your impressions of
- 46:14Speaker 5: what he's brought to the coverage units.
- 46:15Speaker 7: Man he is I don't know if he feels pain
- 46:18Speaker 7: or anything. He you know, tells you a lot. Yeah,
- 46:21Speaker 7: it's pretty wild.
- 46:22Speaker 6: During fall camp, he was just an absolute problem for
- 46:25Speaker 6: our punt team on when he was on scout team
- 46:27Speaker 6: for punk return he was just an absolute like problem
- 46:31Speaker 6: to block. And so you know, eventually we're all like, man,
- 46:34Speaker 6: this guy would be really good on punt return, you know,
- 46:36Speaker 6: on our punt block unit. And then he comes in
- 46:37Speaker 6: one of his first games against Tampa he blocks punt
- 46:39Speaker 6: and Sydney return of the touchdowns. So and you talk
- 46:41Speaker 6: about immediate impacts, he's he just a physical presence who
- 46:47Speaker 6: every every single punt return period. I'm like, I would
- 46:51Speaker 6: hate to be a punter. This would this would suck
- 46:53Speaker 6: to be the other guy.
- 46:53Speaker 2: I mean the talk about keys of the game. We
- 46:55Speaker 2: just gave you the special teams keys. Yeah, that's yeah,
- 46:58Speaker 2: he is. He's a beast.
- 46:59Speaker 3: That fact he should be playing more tight end than
- 47:01Speaker 3: that wide position in the in line. But that's another
- 47:03Speaker 3: story real quick. On defense, Andrew to me makes Stafford uncomfortable.
- 47:07Speaker 3: He's not a good athlete. I know he can manipulate
- 47:10Speaker 3: the pocket a little bit. Me and Herbert, I mean,
- 47:12Speaker 3: he said Stafford, they're playing in the same stateium, thank you. Yeah, Herbert,
- 47:14Speaker 3: he's got if he plays, if he gets clear with
- 47:16Speaker 3: with the broken left hand. I was sickond ranks because
- 47:18Speaker 3: they Egles have played him so many times. Right, looking
- 47:21Speaker 3: at this situation now with Justin Herbert, if he plays,
- 47:24Speaker 3: make him uncomfort We know he's more mobile than Stafford obviously,
- 47:26Speaker 3: but he's got a broken hand and Aaron Rodgers, by
- 47:30Speaker 3: the way, he got it hit again. He also got
- 47:31Speaker 3: a bloody nose. He's playing with the fractured wrist. So
- 47:35Speaker 3: to make him uncomfortable because who knows how much practice
- 47:37Speaker 3: time it's going to get.
- 47:38Speaker 5: Yeah, absolutely see for me, I think this is going
- 47:40Speaker 5: to be a big game for jay loikshn j lox Is.
- 47:43Speaker 4: He provides a lot of pressure.
- 47:44Speaker 5: He's been close a lot of times this season, and
- 47:47Speaker 5: I look at the matchup and I think he has
- 47:49Speaker 5: an advantage.
- 47:50Speaker 3: And by the way, both tackles are on, I are
- 47:51Speaker 3: done for the season. That's big. And they're playing two backups.
- 47:55Speaker 3: We're taking the Chargers here. That's a big deal, Brandon.
- 47:57Speaker 3: And it's not like the Egles don't know this. They
- 48:00Speaker 3: know this. And you got to make Herbert uncomfortable and
- 48:03Speaker 3: we'll see lab of Conky's a phenomenal receiver and Johnson's big,
- 48:07Speaker 3: He's I don't want to say Quentin Johnson is having
- 48:08Speaker 3: a breakout season, but he's doing a good job. He's
- 48:11Speaker 3: come on, he's a he's a big target. So the
- 48:13Speaker 3: Eagles will will have their challenge on.
- 48:15Speaker 2: This game there.
- 48:16Speaker 3: I think they're like a one and a half point
- 48:17Speaker 3: favorite the Eagles. We'll see what happens. We'll see who's
- 48:19Speaker 3: available for the charges of the quarterback. But those are

- 50:05Speaker 5: Obviously a lot, but we were having a conversation last week, Brandon,
- 50:09Speaker 5: and I want to give you an to expand on
- 50:12Speaker 5: my cause. Mike Cleach, the KB found because I think
- 50:15Speaker 5: it's a really great cause.
- 50:16Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 50:16Speaker 6: Yeah, I got involved with them at the end of
- 50:19Speaker 6: my year in twenty three, my end of my first
- 50:21Speaker 6: year here, did didn't event with them, went and painted
- 50:24Speaker 6: some shoes with the kids, and then I got to
- 50:27Speaker 6: know a lot of them, got to know Justin Fishman
- 50:28Speaker 6: who's there, and I think, yeah, it's an awesome organization.
- 50:31Speaker 7: They do youth mentorship in the city, which I think
- 50:35Speaker 7: I did. I don't think I realized I had a
- 50:36Speaker 7: passion before it until I really started doing it.
- 50:39Speaker 6: I think it's just a great way to uh build
- 50:41Speaker 6: a relationship with the kids in the city and you know,
- 50:44Speaker 6: just have a totally different perspective on life and have
- 50:47Speaker 6: an impact on someone who has finally been out in
- 50:50Speaker 6: the in the world a little bit and being able
- 50:52Speaker 6: to offer any sort of advice or helpe that I can.
- 50:55Speaker 7: And and I learned stuff from them too, so it's
- 50:57Speaker 7: it's really awesome. Yeah.
- 50:57Speaker 4: I guess it was a couple of weeks ago that
- 50:59Speaker 4: we had that conversation.
- 51:00Speaker 5: I didn't realize that Jalen had also had experience working
- 51:03Speaker 5: with that foundation too.
- 51:03Speaker 6: Pretty cool, Yeah, yeah, absolutely, yeah, I think he I
- 51:06Speaker 6: believe his organization helped get them one of their buses
- 51:09Speaker 6: that transports kids to a different events, so it's really
- 51:11Speaker 6: it's really awesome organization.
- 51:12Speaker 7: Great for Jalen too, I know he's involved now.
- 51:15Speaker 4: And those cleats look awesome.
- 51:16Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, they're really cool, I think.
- 51:17Speaker 6: I actually so this year I did tennis shoes because
- 51:21Speaker 6: they were never able to really get the design on
- 51:23Speaker 6: my soccer cleats as well, so it was awesome. I
- 51:26Speaker 6: got to wear him in the stadium this past week
- 51:27Speaker 6: and then they're going to auction off for the for
- 51:29Speaker 6: the foundation, so it's really cool.
- 51:31Speaker 4: That's awesome.
- 51:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 51:32Speaker 3: So as a again, you were linebacker on high school,
- 51:35Speaker 3: but as a punter, were there punters that you looked
- 51:37Speaker 3: up to guys that you studied over the years.
- 51:40Speaker 7: Yeah, I think there was.
- 51:41Speaker 6: I mean the one that I probably looked at the
- 51:42Speaker 6: most was shanele Likeler going from A and M number nine.
- 51:45Speaker 2: Yeah, he was an all time big dude by the way.
- 51:47Speaker 2: I would see him in Raiders camp and nap but
- 51:49Speaker 2: I was holy a big dude. Yeah.
- 51:51Speaker 7: Yeah, I feel like every punter is like that, probably
- 51:53Speaker 7: except for me.
- 51:54Speaker 6: I think every week I'm looking up to, you know,
- 51:57Speaker 6: a six foot five punter in Dallas Goddard so kindly
- 52:00Speaker 6: pointed that out last year. He goes every punter in
- 52:02Speaker 6: the NFL makes you look like a child. So I
- 52:04Speaker 6: was like, thanks, Dallas, appreciate that man. That was it
- 52:06Speaker 6: was a very humbling moment.
- 52:08Speaker 5: So you're you're on the Pro bow a ballot, and
- 52:11Speaker 5: I understand that you have greater aspirations and you're maybe
- 52:14Speaker 5: you aren't fixated on that, but what would it mean
- 52:15Speaker 5: for you to get that kind of recognition.
- 52:18Speaker 6: Yeah, like you said, I think that the team goals
- 52:20Speaker 6: always come first, for sure, but yeah, to have individual
- 52:23Speaker 6: recognition is also always great. It's something that you know,
- 52:26Speaker 6: being a Pro Bowl of being an All Pro is
- 52:27Speaker 6: something you always you.
- 52:28Speaker 7: Always try to do.
- 52:30Speaker 6: And I think that that's for me specifically as a punter,
- 52:32Speaker 6: it's that's a uh talks more about my punt team
- 52:36Speaker 6: than anything. I think that they're you know, they have
- 52:39Speaker 6: as much an impact as anybody on you know, the
- 52:41Speaker 6: coverage protection stuff like that. So I think that it
- 52:44Speaker 6: ultimately goes up as a team reward for me is
- 52:46Speaker 6: having a you know, it's like if you have a
- 52:49Speaker 6: Pro Bowl kicker, you know the field goal unit is
- 52:51Speaker 6: gonna take a lot of pride in that, and you know,
- 52:53Speaker 6: he can't do without them, So I think it's it's
- 52:55Speaker 6: really cool, and it's obviously always been a huge goal
- 52:56Speaker 6: of mine.
- 52:57Speaker 5: Yeah, and a testament to your unit, as you said,
- 52:59Speaker 5: and we highlighted a bunch of different coverage guys on
- 53:02Speaker 5: that unit. So I think all the way around, everybody's
- 53:05Speaker 5: firing in all cylinders. At least it seems to be
- 53:06Speaker 5: that way.
- 53:07Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 53:07Speaker 6: Absolutely, They're always showing up to ready to work every day,
- 53:10Speaker 6: and I think that starts from the top down, starts
- 53:12Speaker 6: with the coach Sirianni, and then goes to coach Clay
- 53:15Speaker 6: and then it kind.
- 53:16Speaker 7: Of trickles down to the guy.
- 53:17Speaker 6: So I think everybody just everybody shows up on Monday
- 53:19Speaker 6: ready to work, and it's really cool to have an
- 53:20Speaker 6: ormization like that.
- 53:21Speaker 3: So in practice, because if Jake, you know, for something,
- 53:24Speaker 3: if he pulled a muscle or something he had it,
- 53:26Speaker 3: would you kick?
- 53:27Speaker 2: I mean you practice it all.
- 53:28Speaker 7: Yeah, we did.
- 53:29Speaker 6: It's not like we practice it a ton, you know,
- 53:32Speaker 6: but yeah, I keep it, keep the lake fresh a
- 53:33Speaker 6: little bit. I actually had an extra point in the
- 53:35Speaker 6: preseason game this year for the first time.
- 53:36Speaker 2: I didn't even know really.
- 53:37Speaker 7: Yeah, we switched yes, yes, ye, Jake held for me.
- 53:41Speaker 6: So really that like we practiced and practice while we
- 53:44Speaker 6: did in practice that week and coach was like, if
- 53:47Speaker 6: we get to you know, I don't think it was
- 53:50Speaker 6: the first ex shore. It was like, if we get
- 53:51Speaker 6: to a second extra point, you're gonna kick it, and
- 53:53Speaker 6: Jaked and a hold it in case, you know, he
- 53:54Speaker 6: does something to his lower body.
- 53:57Speaker 7: So barring any sort of him being out of the game,
- 54:00Speaker 7: would be the holder for it.
- 54:01Speaker 3: What's the farthest kick you you, let's say punt. What's
- 54:04Speaker 3: the farthest punt you you could recall that you've had.
- 54:07Speaker 7: Ever was in college? I had an eighty three yard
- 54:09Speaker 7: punt against Kentucky without a bounce.
- 54:11Speaker 6: Come on, I think it was seventy four year a
- 54:15Speaker 6: win at it was there was probably I mean, you
- 54:18Speaker 6: don't probably don't get a huge punt.
- 54:19Speaker 7: This is a little bit of wind at your back,
- 54:20Speaker 7: so you got to take advantage.
- 54:22Speaker 6: I think the second the second longest. I my longest
- 54:25Speaker 6: in the NFL would have been Dallas. We ended up
- 54:28Speaker 6: having to rekick it. It was this year, two weeks ago.
- 54:30Speaker 6: It was seventy six, but we ended up rekicking it.
- 54:32Speaker 6: So yeah, it was the longest the NFL, so not
- 54:34Speaker 6: quite what the what the college role was.
- 54:37Speaker 3: Are you into a nutrition because it because how do
- 54:40Speaker 3: I get it? You work out a lot, but some
- 54:41Speaker 3: guys like or eat real clean, some guys.
- 54:43Speaker 2: Have a lot of meat. What do you do in
- 54:45Speaker 2: nutrition wise?
- 54:46Speaker 6: I would kind of say, I'm in between everybody who
- 54:49Speaker 6: you know. I think everyone has a thing. I don't
- 54:51Speaker 6: think I have really a thing. I think I yeah,
- 54:55Speaker 6: I just eat.
- 54:56Speaker 7: I don't know somewhat balance. Jake kind of makes fun
- 54:58Speaker 7: of me for my diet. Sometimes.
- 54:59Speaker 6: I always have like cheerios before games, Like I always
- 55:02Speaker 6: just that's my choice of food for mornings and games.
- 55:06Speaker 6: Is like, I'm a big cheerios guy. I just love
- 55:09Speaker 6: cereal before games for whatever reason.
- 55:11Speaker 2: So he kind of different.
- 55:12Speaker 7: Yeah, he's sitting there with you know, taking steak and
- 55:15Speaker 7: broccoli and like games. Yeah, he just morning uh no,
- 55:19Speaker 7: that's usually for like four o'clock something like that.
- 55:21Speaker 6: In the morning, he'll eat you know, normal stuff like
- 55:24Speaker 6: eggs or bacon or you know whatever and then just
- 55:26Speaker 6: look over my massive bowl of cheerios.
- 55:28Speaker 7: He always makes fun of me for.
- 55:29Speaker 3: It's fruity, Like are they just playing cheerios.
- 55:33Speaker 7: Play non honey nut cheerio, just regular bland cheerios. I love.
- 55:36Speaker 7: I don't know why. No skim uh no, no skim.
- 55:40Speaker 7: I grew up on skim milk and I had two percent.
- 55:42Speaker 6: I've seen the like, Yeah, yeah, how many boats with
- 55:46Speaker 6: one or two? Gosh, I'm feeling good.
- 55:48Speaker 7: I'll have to.
- 55:48Speaker 6: I don't like to eat too much in free games,
- 55:50Speaker 6: so yeah, I'll use the limited to usual limits to.
- 55:52Speaker 2: One Andrew pressbox real quick. Yeah, do you have a ritual?
- 55:55Speaker 2: Do you have a meal? I know, because you you're
- 55:57Speaker 2: like me.
- 55:57Speaker 3: When I would go, I would get there at like
- 55:59Speaker 3: nine thirty, ten o'clock for one o'clock game.
- 56:01Speaker 5: Yeah, I get there about nine thirty. Watch him, Jake
- 56:04Speaker 5: and the specialists do their thing.
- 56:06Speaker 4: I have my own regiment.
- 56:07Speaker 5: I have to, you know, be mindful of everything that's
- 56:10Speaker 5: going on. Then I'll eat something. Then I do a
- 56:12Speaker 5: radio call, and then I kind of just start writing.
- 56:14Speaker 2: But real wise, oh, real wise at the link.
- 56:18Speaker 4: Yeah, whatever's there. And then I'll sit there and.
- 56:20Speaker 2: You know it's still like some of the food's up
- 56:23Speaker 2: bad there.
- 56:24Speaker 4: I mean, I'm not a picky eater.
- 56:25Speaker 5: I eat anything, but I have to ask you, because
- 56:28Speaker 5: it's been well documented that Jake is great at golf,
- 56:32Speaker 5: pretty much anything softball. But what's one thing that most
- 56:36Speaker 5: wouldn't know that he's good at as well?
- 56:38Speaker 6: M I think he's just everything's good at has been
- 56:43Speaker 6: well documented. Like he said, I don't know if there's
- 56:44Speaker 6: something hidden that he's good at that people don't know
- 56:47Speaker 6: about already. He just kind of as a jack of
- 56:50Speaker 6: all trades. I mean, we meet him, go about it
- 56:52Speaker 6: and pool. He loves shuffle board anything. Yeah, we have
- 56:55Speaker 6: a shuffle board any anytime you can get on like
- 56:58Speaker 6: a game, you play shuffle I guess ping pong is
- 57:00Speaker 6: probably the one. I don't know if anybody knows that
- 57:02Speaker 6: or not. He was like a I think he was
- 57:04Speaker 6: like an all state tennis player. So yeah, him in
- 57:06Speaker 6: racket sport, like him in racket or stick sports.
- 57:08Speaker 7: He's really good at so.
- 57:09Speaker 3: I've seen I've seen his video playing tennis as an
- 57:13Speaker 3: avatennis player.
- 57:14Speaker 2: I'm like, I can't do it as well as he can't.
- 57:15Speaker 7: Hold. Yeah, Yeah, he's he's really good.
- 57:17Speaker 3: He strikes the ball andrew and you know, he's not
- 57:18Speaker 3: the biggest guy in the world, but his form, like
- 57:21Speaker 3: a lot of kickers are great golfers.
- 57:24Speaker 2: Is he a good I assume he's a good golfer.
- 57:25Speaker 2: I have no idea.
- 57:26Speaker 4: Yeah, I heard it's really good.
- 57:27Speaker 7: Yeah, it makes like a plus plus one and a
- 57:29Speaker 7: half handicap something like that.
- 57:30Speaker 2: That is this dude.
- 57:31Speaker 4: He's I also heard you're pretty good. I think Charlie
- 57:35Speaker 4: mentioned that.
- 57:36Speaker 6: Oh yeah, thanks. Yeah, I'm gonna sit around to scratch.
- 57:38Speaker 6: So Jake usually gets me by, you know, a couple
- 57:40Speaker 6: or one or two round. But there's been a couple
- 57:43Speaker 6: back and forth.
- 57:44Speaker 2: You played high school, we in the golf team.
- 57:45Speaker 6: No, I wish, I wish. How did you I started
- 57:47Speaker 6: in twenty twenty when COVID happened. I just like got
- 57:49Speaker 6: obsessed in Texas started. Yeah, it was we started playing
- 57:53Speaker 6: it like of course it was ten bucks in college stations.
- 57:55Speaker 7: How did you learn?
- 57:56Speaker 2: Did you take lessons?
- 57:57Speaker 7: No, just went out and hit a billion off boss.
- 58:01Speaker 2: That's that's insane.
- 58:02Speaker 6: Yeah, So Jake usually gets me. Wow, I'll say that
- 58:05Speaker 6: on the record, but I'm gonna I'm gonna try and
- 58:06Speaker 6: catch him this this next year.
- 58:09Speaker 3: Have the Elliott Man Cup. Yeah, yeah, and invite players
- 58:13Speaker 3: from all around the country. Or that was, by the way,
- 58:15Speaker 3: the Voice of Eagles punter braid Man. It's Adam Kaplan
- 58:18Speaker 3: and Andrew Checo from inside the Birds. Next week it's
- 58:21Speaker 3: Merril Race and I had chicken, PiZZ and warten.
- 58:24Speaker 2: We'll see you then
