Transcript
- 0:21Speaker 1: What's up. Everybody. Welcome in. This is JFK book Reviews.
- 0:25Speaker 2: I am Big, bad Bob and today we're gonna be
- 0:28Speaker 2: reviewing the book. Oswald talked the new evidence in the
- 0:32Speaker 2: JFK assassination by Ray and Mary La Fontanya or Lafontaine.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Or however you want to say.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Uh, yeah, and buddy, she thick just like I like him.
- 0:50Speaker 2: So yeah, this is uh, this is gonna be a
- 0:53Speaker 2: good one, So stay tuned. This book was published in
- 0:59Speaker 2: nineteen and ninety six by Pelican Publishing and it clocks
- 1:05Speaker 2: in at about six hundred pages, roughly eleven chapters, and
- 1:12Speaker 2: it definitely has a conspiracy.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Lean to it. And in case you hadn't noticed from
- 1:17Speaker 1: the cover, So.
- 1:24Speaker 2: In hindsight, you know, looking back over the decade of
- 1:28Speaker 2: the nineties, there was actually a lot of really good
- 1:35Speaker 2: assassination books that came out in the nineties in the
- 1:38Speaker 2: wake of the JFK Records Act and all these file
- 1:43Speaker 2: releases and people that were using them to their advantage
- 1:46Speaker 2: in order to push JFK research forward. And of course
- 1:53Speaker 2: two of those people were husband and wife team Ray
- 1:55Speaker 2: and Mary la Fontaine or La Fantaigne. And what's interesting
- 2:03Speaker 2: about this husband and wife duo. They came on the scene,
- 2:07Speaker 2: they were very involved, and they very quickly became acclimated
- 2:16Speaker 2: to the case. And the focus of the book himes
- 2:21Speaker 2: primarily on a discovery by another researcher named Bill Adams
- 2:26Speaker 2: who stumbled across the whole John L. Rod documents. And
- 2:32Speaker 2: it was actually Ray and Mary Lafontaine who found the
- 2:37Speaker 2: three Tramp documents in the Dallas Archives, the DBD Dallas Archives.
- 2:44Speaker 2: And you know, there there had been much speculation going
- 2:49Speaker 2: back into.
- 2:50Speaker 1: The sixties.
- 2:52Speaker 2: As to who these three Tramps were, and they finally
- 2:56Speaker 2: uncovered the documents that identified them.
- 3:03Speaker 1: So you know, these folks were.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Researching a different path, if you will, and very interesting ones.
- 3:14Speaker 2: And I thoroughly enjoy books that come out of left
- 3:18Speaker 2: field with new information and smack you in the face
- 3:26Speaker 2: and say, yo, you need to read me, you need
- 3:31Speaker 2: to read me. You know, this is around the same
- 3:35Speaker 2: time books like Oswald and the Cia by John Newman
- 3:38Speaker 2: are coming out, Harvey and Lee by John.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Armstrong are coming out, and.
- 3:48Speaker 2: This book in particular, you know, it had been so
- 3:52Speaker 2: long since I've read this book, and I wonder if
- 4:00Speaker 2: it tells me when I got this book twenty fourteen
- 4:11Speaker 2: is when I got this book. Okay, so twelve years ago,
- 4:18Speaker 2: and at the time when I read it, you know,
- 4:23Speaker 2: the big, big takeaway out of this book was, of
- 4:28Speaker 2: course the John L. Rod story and the Tramps and
- 4:33Speaker 2: all of that. Now going back, you know, there's videos
- 4:41Speaker 2: of interviews with John L. Rod by places like hard
- 4:44Speaker 2: Copy and things like that where he maintained his story,
- 4:50Speaker 2: and of course detales of gun running through Dallas and
- 4:55Speaker 2: the arrest of Winter and excuse me, his buddy right
- 5:01Speaker 2: before the assassination went down, and the possible implications of
- 5:06Speaker 2: things in the course of research for the Sylvia Odio
- 5:20Speaker 2: topic that we've been discussing here on the show recently.
- 5:24Speaker 2: This book devotes a chapter to the Sylvia Odio story,
- 5:35Speaker 2: and going back and reading it, it's pretty mind blowing,
- 5:40Speaker 2: pretty pretty mind blowing, because like, this book not only
- 5:46Speaker 2: tackles the Three Tramps, the John L. Rod story, the
- 5:50Speaker 2: gun running issues with Jack Ruby, but I believe that
- 5:56Speaker 2: there is a lot more threads that need to be
- 6:00Speaker 2: unraveled that they present in this book, and we probably
- 6:04Speaker 2: will do so in upcoming episodes on the Longomon podcast.
- 6:15Speaker 2: I came across a lot of good information also in
- 6:20Speaker 2: this book concerning something that really wasn't on a lot
- 6:25Speaker 2: of people's radars back in nineteen ninety six, at least
- 6:29Speaker 2: in the context that the la Fontaines are the Lafontaines
- 6:34Speaker 2: go about it, and that is the DRE and its
- 6:40Speaker 2: connections to the CIA and let's just say, people connected
- 6:46Speaker 2: with the CIA and these various anti Castro groups. There
- 6:53Speaker 2: are some very very illuminative, uh context, if you will,
- 7:06Speaker 2: when speaking of the d R and what was going
- 7:10Speaker 2: on in Dallas right before the assassination. And it's very interesting,
- 7:19Speaker 2: very interesting. Let's just say it could help Big Bad
- 7:24Speaker 2: Bob complete his DRE was behind the assassination theory. Again,
- 7:34Speaker 2: the big gap here is setting Oswald up to be
- 7:44Speaker 2: the patsy for the assassination in Dallas. Okay, because the
- 7:54Speaker 2: typical the typical suspects.
- 7:56Speaker 1: You know, the d R.
- 7:57Speaker 2: We all know Carlos Bringe and New Orleans and all
- 8:02Speaker 2: the Mother's caffuzes that were around him at the time.
- 8:06Speaker 2: You know that we always talk about like carogasors you
- 8:08Speaker 2: or Kaija Smith, Louis Rebel or Aspama, all these guys,
- 8:17Speaker 2: Victor Hernandez, all of these guys, Carlo I'm sorry, Carlo Shenandez,
- 8:23Speaker 2: Victor Espinoza, all of these guys, these anti Castro Cubans,
- 8:30Speaker 2: they're in New Orleans, not so much Dallas. The problem
- 8:40Speaker 2: for me to link everything, of course, was how did
- 8:47Speaker 2: they pull off or whoever did pull off setting Oswald
- 8:52Speaker 2: up to be the patsy in Dallas and actually pull
- 8:56Speaker 2: off the assassination. Well, I believe the answer lies, or
- 9:03Speaker 2: at least the beginnings of the answer lies, in this book,
- 9:08Speaker 2: and I'm not going to ruin it here today in
- 9:10Speaker 2: the book review, but of course we will be diving
- 9:15Speaker 2: deeper into it in the podcast in the very near future.
- 9:21Speaker 1: But to say that this.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Book sparked some controversy would be an understatement. The Lone
- 9:32Speaker 2: Nutters did not like this group at all, or this.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Book at all. They were not They were not fans
- 9:40Speaker 1: of the l Rod story.
- 9:42Speaker 2: They were not fans of the context putting these people
- 9:47Speaker 2: around Oswald in Dallas in nineteen sixty three that have
- 9:51Speaker 2: suspicious dre ties, CIA ties, FBI ties. They raised some
- 10:00Speaker 2: very intriguing theories, and a lot of conspiracy theorists weren't
- 10:08Speaker 2: fan of this book either. I mean, Harold Weisberg fucking
- 10:11Speaker 2: hated the La Fontaines, thought they were completely off their
- 10:16Speaker 2: rocker and talking out of their ass. I don't know
- 10:20Speaker 2: about that guy sometimes, but to me, you know, these
- 10:27Speaker 2: these folks came on here, they did they did the research,
- 10:31Speaker 2: They wrote the book, all right. They were working with
- 10:35Speaker 2: very respected researchers and I'm talking. I'm talking about Paul Hawk,
- 10:39Speaker 2: Peter Dale, Scott, you know, the swinging his deck of
- 10:42Speaker 2: swinging dicks. And you know, they were no slouches. They
- 10:50Speaker 2: were in with some some good ones, you know, not
- 10:53Speaker 2: not like some scuffouzes of the nineties who were trying
- 10:58Speaker 2: to sensationalize things like Ross grow White and James Files
- 11:02Speaker 2: and things like that.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Oswald talked had teeth, It had real teeth.
- 11:12Speaker 2: They came on the scene, they dropped the book, they
- 11:15Speaker 2: did the conference rounds, and then they disappeared.
- 11:22Speaker 1: They dropped out of sight and seemingly dropped the mic
- 11:29Speaker 1: and went home. You know what I mean.
- 11:31Speaker 2: They said, this is this is what we worked all
- 11:34Speaker 2: the mears on and we're done and we're out deuces,
- 11:38Speaker 2: and they dropped this thing on us, and uh, it
- 11:43Speaker 2: should be revered for what it is, which is what
- 11:48Speaker 2: very few books are when it comes to the JFK assassination,
- 11:54Speaker 2: and that is groundbreaking. I opening jaw drop. The title
- 12:05Speaker 2: of the book doesn't lie the new evidence in the
- 12:07Speaker 2: JFK assassination, and it should be paid attention to. And
- 12:13Speaker 2: I think a lot of their contemporary researchers and authors
- 12:15Speaker 2: at the time were very jealous of the success that
- 12:20Speaker 2: this book had. It's very hard to tear this book
- 12:28Speaker 2: apart as far as being uncredible, but people tried. People
- 12:34Speaker 2: surely tried. Now is everything in here true? No, that's
- 12:46Speaker 2: not going to be true for every book or any
- 12:48Speaker 2: book on the assassination. But I applaud what they attempted
- 12:54Speaker 2: to do here, which is think outside the box, not
- 13:01Speaker 2: be scared, to throw new things on the table and
- 13:04Speaker 2: say look at this, and be able to support it
- 13:07Speaker 2: with documentation, which is all through this book, asking the
- 13:14Speaker 2: pertinent questions of our institutions like the FBI, and how
- 13:19Speaker 2: much they knew and when they knew it, and what
- 13:24Speaker 2: they did or didn't do about it, all very important stuff.
- 13:33Speaker 2: I could go on and on about this book, but
- 13:38Speaker 2: I don't want to ruin it for you. That's how
- 13:42Speaker 2: much I respect this book. I don't want to ruin
- 13:47Speaker 2: it for you if there is one book out of
- 13:52Speaker 2: all the ones we've done reviews on up to this date,
- 13:55Speaker 2: this very very date, there are very few.
- 13:59Speaker 1: Where I look at you and your eyes and I
- 14:00Speaker 1: tell you.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Look, you need to have this book in your collection
- 14:11Speaker 2: on your bookshelf. And not only that, but you need
- 14:15Speaker 2: to fucking read it. Read it, pay attention, pay very
- 14:23Speaker 2: close attention to what this book is telling you, and
- 14:28Speaker 2: it just might be eye opening. Because when I read
- 14:32Speaker 2: this book in twenty fourteen, my brain at the time
- 14:37Speaker 2: was not really on the path of Silviodio, the dre
- 14:44Speaker 2: in Dallas, the dreh in.
- 14:47Speaker 1: New Orleans, you know, it was on.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Some other conspiracy tract at the time, and I didn't
- 14:58Speaker 2: really understand the ramifictions of the things that were talked
- 15:03Speaker 2: about in this book at the time. But going back
- 15:08Speaker 2: and rereading some of the relevant parts of this book
- 15:13Speaker 2: that apply to what we've been talking about on the
- 15:16Speaker 2: show recently, just a little mind blowing, if you will,
- 15:25Speaker 2: and could possibly not entirely, but possibly open the door
- 15:33Speaker 2: and lead the way to some new threads to pull on,
- 15:40Speaker 2: more to study, if you will, more things to try
- 15:44Speaker 2: to suss out. We're giving lots of strings here to
- 15:48Speaker 2: pull on. And with the benefit of this now being.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Thirty years later.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Again, the book was published in ninety six. It's twenty six,
- 16:03Speaker 2: thirty years ago this book was published. You know, all
- 16:07Speaker 2: the documents we've gotten released in the past thirty years,
- 16:11Speaker 2: and what might be sitting in the archives when it
- 16:14Speaker 2: comes to some of the people that they talk about
- 16:18Speaker 2: in this book. It's mind blowing. And you know, I
- 16:25Speaker 2: will be on top of it. I will be diving down, digging,
- 16:30Speaker 2: drilling hard, if you will, into this, because, like I said,
- 16:36Speaker 2: I've been looking for the Dallas connection.
- 16:40Speaker 1: And it possibly is contained in this.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Book, and it's possibly gone unnoticed all this time. So
- 16:49Speaker 2: with that being said, you know, I can't recommend this
- 16:59Speaker 2: book enough. It is one of big bad bobs must haves,
- 17:05Speaker 2: must have and there's very few of them on my
- 17:08Speaker 2: bookshelf that are must haves, but damn it, this is
- 17:11Speaker 2: one of them. So you know what that means. This
- 17:14Speaker 2: book is a ten out of ten guns up erupting
- 17:22Speaker 2: like fireworks on the fourth of July. Ten out of ten, baby,
- 17:27Speaker 2: I can't recommend this book enough. Oswald talked to new
- 17:31Speaker 2: evidence in the JFK assassination by Ray and Mary Lafontaine
- 17:35Speaker 2: or Lafontaine, go out and get it, I believe on
- 17:42Speaker 2: Amazon right now.
- 17:50Speaker 1: Let's see what we got. Yeah.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Oh, there's only one new copy left on Amazon right now,
- 18:02Speaker 2: and it's clocking in at seventeen bucks if you're a
- 18:04Speaker 2: Prime member. But there are other used copies for as
- 18:12Speaker 2: low as six ninety nine on Amazon. And of course
- 18:15Speaker 2: there's other places out there other than Amazon to get it,
- 18:18Speaker 2: but I'll throw the Amazon link in the description for
- 18:21Speaker 2: you to check out. I can't, like I said, I
- 18:23Speaker 2: can't recommend this book highly enough. I cannot wait to
- 18:27Speaker 2: dive in and start pulling on some threads that they
- 18:31Speaker 2: left hanging out of this book for your boy to
- 18:34Speaker 2: follow thirty years later. And I'm gonna believe it. I
- 18:39Speaker 2: am gonna we'll be talking about it real soon. But
- 18:44Speaker 2: until then, this has been JFK book Reviews. I'm big
