- 0:23Welcome back to be bound, record podcasts.
- 0:47I'm Curtis Wilson. I'm Brian siglo, buddy.
- 0:52How are you doing? This Wednesday night, the one of
- 0:56the best hump days are the year, Braun.
- 0:57You know, why? Tell me why?
- 0:59Man, we worked one day so far this week.
- 1:02There you go there, go there to hump days that are great Labor
- 1:06Day Memorial Day cuz you work one day and the next thing you
- 1:10know, you shut your computer for the day and You know, the next
- 1:15day. Yeah, for you.
- 1:17There you have way there. It's like, I'm late and after
- 1:22coming off the huge win last week, I mean, feels even better.
- 1:28You can highlight seeing Sandman played everywhere, lots of
- 1:33national publicity after that, when both for the quality of the
- 1:37wind and the quality of the environment and it was an
- 1:41environment, you know, we discussed it Friday.
- 1:43Day and it just continues to show the more videos that are
- 1:47coming out of folks, in the stands, you know?
- 1:51That's, that's why I'm at, is laying stadium is one of the
- 1:55toughest places to play in the country is when that crowd is
- 1:58going, someone tried to say, saw put a poster, it's not really
- 2:02that loud. A you've obviously never been
- 2:04there and you've never taken people there who have been to
- 2:08other stadiums that are 20, 30 thousand and they say, why is
- 2:13This louder. So you know, that what it is,
- 2:19how do you actually? I've talked to people that have
- 2:21been to games at the shoe. Big house in state.
- 2:25I've had a Penn State. Yeah, I mean there's there's
- 2:28been people that I've talked to that have been all those places
- 2:30are like, yeah, I mean, there's something about laying at night
- 2:34that just hits different. It's laying at night.
- 2:38It's when it's packed when the student check since Poppin, it's
- 2:43unbelievable. In Dom, as we get into it
- 2:46tonight, Brian guy, read consistently on.
- 2:49CBS Sports is time for Nellie, he doesn't cover three podcast,
- 2:54he's about of Chicago, and he had a quote, and because he is
- 2:59talking about watching college football and week zero.
- 3:02And he said, for the first time, you know, he cried, he says many
- 3:05hours. Is that spent watching college
- 3:06football up until that. that point is the first time I've
- 3:09cried while doing so And he said this past weekend was a second.
- 3:14However, it was the first time I've ever cried while listening
- 3:16to a Metallica song. But when Enter Sandman kicked
- 3:21Friday night, before the Virginia Tech upset 9:43 of
- 3:27number 10, North Carolina. I'll give Tom this.
- 3:29He did not pick us to win outright.
- 3:31He did go against the spread with us.
- 3:33So feel some harsh feelings there, but he said he felt the
- 3:37energy of the 65,000 people in Lane Stadium.
- 3:42Leave his television enters body and probably much like me and
- 3:46you and probably most of the folks listening tonight.
- 3:50He said this it was a feeling that continue throughout the
- 3:52weekend with the atmospheres across the country, bringing Joy
- 3:56back into my college football heart, I cannot agree with them
- 3:58or it was it just a different feeling this weekend then at any
- 4:04point last season and whether it's you know, kind of starting
- 4:08the weekend off with a big hokey upset Get.
- 4:11Yeah, real big game or whether it was just having fans back in
- 4:16the stands. It just so many different
- 4:18factors were playing a role in that, but it definitely was one
- 4:21of my in recent memory. The, the best weekend's of
- 4:25college football that I can recall and it wasn't just the
- 4:29quality of the games, was kind of everything and just feeling
- 4:31like, hey, this is what we missed out on last year in this
- 4:35is, this is what college football is all about college.
- 4:39Football is all about the crowds, and I'll tell you,
- 4:41Something I got, I mean I watched the Wisconsin.
- 4:43Penn State game. Jump Around was unbelievable.
- 4:45You felt that there. But watching the to neutral site
- 4:50games, the Alabama game and Alabama, Miami and Clemson.
- 4:54Georgia, usually a neutral site gains.
- 4:57You don't hear. The bass is getting into it.
- 5:01Usually it's it's split 50/50. It's it, you get some buzz but
- 5:08even those game, you can hear it on a key play, but it's not
- 5:10anything sustained. But in that case and those two
- 5:13games, it was sustained and you know, Alabama smacking, Miami
- 5:17and Clemson, and an old-school dog food.
- 5:19Dog fight with a loss to Georgia but we'll talk about some of the
- 5:24pics later on your boy not doing too great here.
- 5:27But left, let's start with this prawn is something I didn't want
- 5:31to happen. I don't know how you felt about
- 5:33it so I'm going to ask you. I didn't want to happen.
- 5:35We got ranked, unfortunately, coaches.
- 5:37Put us at 21 the AP. Put us at 19, I hate it, I hate
- 5:42it. What about you?
- 5:44You know, how I feel about rankings before mid-october, you
- 5:49know what really bronze Brian's gears?
- 5:51Go ahead, Brian. Get these rankings out of here
- 5:56until you've at least played five games.
- 5:59But if we're going to be ranked, I'm glad that it was kind of in
- 6:03the lower end of the of the pole there.
- 6:05Some people had us as high as like top 15.
- 6:08I'm like no too soon too. Soon pump.
- 6:10The Dam breaks here. We don't have to over rank us
- 6:13just because we beat a probably over ranked UNC team.
- 6:18Which I mean we talked about it before the season started, we
- 6:21had them probably in the back half of The top 25 where as most
- 6:26everyone else had them at least top 15 if not top 10.
- 6:30So, you know, the coaches poll at 21, I think, is a little bit
- 6:36more accurate than the 19. I'll take the ranking, but it's
- 6:41not something that I'm in favor of.
- 6:43And it's not something that I like after just, you know, such
- 6:46a small sample size, is one Victory against what we know
- 6:48now, is probably a somewhat over ranked UNC team, even if it's
- 6:53not Greatly over ranked. Exactly.
- 6:56Again I don't want to be ranked at all.
- 6:59I didn't want to be ranked until after we beat West Virginia that
- 7:02was my field but I'm with you on the whole week, five thing, we
- 7:06got to see games, we got to see more games because you could
- 7:10have a team like Miami rank, what?
- 7:1212 gets more Alabama, they lose again to appstate.
- 7:15The next thing you're looking at us like they weren't really that
- 7:18good and at the end of the season, something you've always
- 7:22kind of alluded to with certain conferences.
- 7:24Is Brian at the end of the season for they have five top 20
- 7:27wins. And you look at the records,
- 7:29like they were five at the time. They were 15 at the time of the
- 7:34game there. Now, 6 and 6, they're really not
- 7:36a 15 quality win what we took it out.
- 7:41If you're gonna start saying, there's a ranked game, I want at
- 7:44least 55 contest under your belt and you probably need to at
- 7:49least be forward, one of those contests and that one needs to
- 7:52be against another team. Team that's probably the top 25.
- 7:58That's just, that's just how I feel on it.
- 8:00I'm sure other people feel other ways.
- 8:02I know that there is the whole, we've got a quantify it, so
- 8:06there's really no other way to quantify it, but at the same
- 8:09time, the problem with polls in general is that you still have a
- 8:13human element in the college football playoff selection
- 8:16committee, but their selections are informed by what we thought
- 8:20of teams. Both at the time, the season
- 8:23started And as things went along.
- 8:25So that Shades how we Rank, and Andre ranked teams throughout
- 8:30the season, abso-freakin'-lutely.
- 8:34All right, let's get a couple shout outs here.
- 8:35Brian. Let's do it.
- 8:37Temari Connor, the ACC defensive back of the week.
- 8:42Well done. You probably have picked any for
- 8:47in our secondary, multiple Armani with one catch. - five
- 8:54yards strong with the good game. I mean, Waller just walking it
- 9:01up across the board. Exactly.
- 9:03Walter with the pick tomorrow to pick.
- 9:05Come are doing what he does with.
- 9:07I think seven, tackles maybe eight, I don't have the stat
- 9:10sheet in front of me, but he had a very good tackling game as
- 9:13always. And the one thing that they
- 9:15talked about was he got really burned last year in the slot
- 9:18better this year, 7 of 13, so definitely improving on that.
- 9:23And then his Time at the linebacker position obviously
- 9:25helping him get some extra tackles.
- 9:27All right. What about this one?
- 9:29You ready? What you got coach for
- 9:32Wednesday? Is the Dodd Coach of the week.
- 9:35Obviously the dad coach of the years of pretty big trophy at
- 9:37the end of the year. So awkward now.
- 9:46I mean it's interesting because I mean I feel like this was a
- 9:52combination of two things so it's combination of the opponent
- 9:55that we played and how we went about it and how well prepared
- 9:59for it. And I think coach coach food did
- 10:02a good job of getting the everyone ready to play that
- 10:06game. I mean, if you say Who out coach
- 10:10to coach Fuente, definitely out coach Mack, Brown on that, on
- 10:14that game, big time. You know, whether you got
- 10:17positive, negative or any feelings about Coach Fuente, he
- 10:21was the better head coach on the field on Friday night.
- 10:24He absolutely was and I think maybe some of the stuff you saw
- 10:28from UNC about, showing the fourth showing the Enter Sandman
- 10:32and they're up and around and dancing.
- 10:36It's one of those things where it's like, You, when we saw
- 10:40that, I think I felt. Okay.
- 10:42Y'all aren't taking it serious? It's going to be a full stadium
- 10:46that has not been there since pit 600-plus days.
- 10:50Yep. Is going to be loud.
- 10:52It's an F, it's an evening game. So the people that are coming or
- 10:56probably getting their morning, the kids are probably skipping
- 11:00classes. The afternoon classes are
- 11:02probably getting cancelled so you're going to have a bunch of
- 11:05riled up people and I'm sure that floated around and I'm sure
- 11:08that also floated around. To the team.
- 11:11Well, I think one thing, you know, playing Enter Sandman over
- 11:14loudspeakers and having 65,000, sustained screaming noise for
- 11:21four quarters. That's, those are two different
- 11:23things. You know, I know that there was
- 11:27a buzzy way of okay, well, look what we're doing.
- 11:31But at the end of the day, it probably didn't mean a damn
- 11:34thing and probably didn't impact them positively or negatively
- 11:36for the game. Exactly.
- 11:39So you know, good on him that. All right, let's take a look at
- 11:42this. Prawn just got dropped today.
- 11:45Shout-out will Stewart. He posted the Tweet, the rating
- 11:49for the Friday night at 6:00 on the Labor Day.
- 11:52Weekend, 2.5 million. Yes, good number.
- 11:59It is a very good number. It was ESPN's fifth highest of
- 12:02the games that they had, kind of their big matchups.
- 12:08Three were in prime time, and then you had the Alabama game,
- 12:10which is at the Miami game at 3:30.
- 12:12So, again, it's that positive, a lot of eyes were on the Hokies
- 12:20when they did really good things.
- 12:23And again, for us, an ESPN, really good number.
- 12:28So hopefully, we don't get many call the clocks.
- 12:32Yeah, and I mean, I like that, we went out there and we won a
- 12:34game that we needed to win in Primetime, mostly Primetime,
- 12:40evening game, and just took care of business with eyes on it
- 12:45because I feel like it's been a long time.
- 12:47Since we've had that national game where we went out there and
- 12:51we had a spectacle but then we also took care of business.
- 12:55Yeah, and the spectacle took care of business and look good
- 12:58in a facet of ways. Both defensively offensive ly
- 13:05and something else. We'll talk about a little bit
- 13:06later on special teams. All right.
- 13:09So let's go to some news and notes.
- 13:10Brian for this week. Let's talk about this early in
- 13:16the camp. The transfer McCray out of
- 13:18Marshall was plain backer dip and lo and behold press Iran.
- 13:25Monday, he has moved to defensive end.
- 13:30I mean, is it a Mari 2.0? I know, I think I said, I think
- 13:34it says two things. So it's two things.
- 13:36Number one, it says that we're more or less confident with
- 13:41artists as backup, especially since we are moving tamari into
- 13:47linebacker. We go, true nickel.
- 13:50So it says that number two, it says that we need some help at
- 13:57defensive end depth wise because I don't think this move is made
- 14:03unless we were a little bit light at that position and we're
- 14:07definitely and I'm not saying it wouldn't be made eventually, I
- 14:11don't think it's made at the time we're making it, if it
- 14:14wasn't for that. And number three, I mean he's
- 14:17got athletic tools and he's got a similar Bill to wear Bar no
- 14:25was a couple years ago. Yep.
- 14:28Let's let's see what we can do here.
- 14:30So I don't think it's a bad move for us.
- 14:34We'll see if that's going to have any trickle-down long-term
- 14:37at the linebacker position but you know it's definitely going
- 14:40to help us Shore up the the defensive line a little bit this
- 14:43this year. Yeah also says to me might mean
- 14:46there's a couple guys not ready to play yet where CJ has been in
- 14:51a college program for multiple years Years.
- 14:54Even if he is undersized and to 15 to 20, he's seen some field
- 14:59action. He's been in a program not
- 15:02getting there for the first time.
- 15:04So you know, I don't think that shocking we getting he's got the
- 15:07body, he's got the body type for so we shall.
- 15:10Yeah I mean I think if you want him to be like a significant
- 15:13rotational player, he's probably going to need another 15 or 20
- 15:16pounds, but in terms of just being able to do something kind
- 15:21of like Barnett was able to do with beginning of last year.
- 15:25You know, I'm not necessarily expecting.
- 15:28Kind of the, the big, you know, light switch to go on like you
- 15:31did for bar. No, but if he can, just give us
- 15:34some meaningful steps, especially in situational, third
- 15:38and long and things like that. I think that'll be good for us.
- 15:41Absolutely. Alright.
- 15:43Braun Friday night. We did see Devin hunger on the
- 15:45field for a couple plays but the majority we saw in a Seer
- 15:48people's this week, it is now essentially or position boundary
- 15:54safety is now hunter or any shot.
- 15:58Just were they waiting for it to happen with the with the action
- 16:02Friday night? I think they wanted to kind of
- 16:04see what they had but it seemed like peoples was kind of
- 16:08trending that way just before you know, as fall Camp wrapped
- 16:14and we got into practice. I think Hunter is going to be an
- 16:18asset for us. But if peoples is playing, the
- 16:20way he played against you and see that mean that's hard to go
- 16:23away from him for a significant amount of snaps.
- 16:28Yeah. Absolutely is.
- 16:29And you know, people's was a pretty big projected guy out of
- 16:33high school had like it came down to, you know, us and Notre
- 16:36Dame. I think Michigan and a few, the
- 16:39to force couple people on 24/7. You know, put him to Michigan,
- 16:44which wasn't a shot by the way. Shout out.
- 16:46John, how are you tonight? The boys are on the air.
- 16:49You are correct, sir. All right, Brian, let's get into
- 16:52this. Just a little more notes.
- 16:56So we got some snaps counts. Shout out to 474, put them out
- 17:00there and we noticed some of the stuff on Friday, especially on
- 17:04the offensive side defensive side because of the camera shot
- 17:09usually focused on the offense. You don't know who's in there
- 17:12and occasionally I did see Ally Adams number a couple times
- 17:15Friday night. I did see Jalen Griffin and
- 17:19let's actually start with though the offensive line because I
- 17:22think this paints a picture for me and you wear some of our
- 17:25worries may have may be getting a little bit relieved.
- 17:28Aged and, you know, left tackle, left guard Center.
- 17:33Those guys played every spout. Locked up.
- 17:36Lock it up to new to did a good job.
- 17:41Let it gets good job. Brought.
- 17:43Good job right side. All right.
- 17:46Ready for it, Ron, here's the numbers Caden more played 42
- 17:50snaps Silas, Dan's. You played 46.
- 17:55Now, Johnny Jordan came in at Right Guard played 21 and Tyrell
- 17:59Smith played 17, nope. Nope, no sign of Parker
- 18:04Clements. But how does that now make you
- 18:07feel to see? They not only got snaps, you
- 18:11know, Johnny got a third of the snaps that guard and and Tyrell
- 18:17essentially got about a quarter of the snaps at right tackle.
- 18:22Yeah, I mean I feel pretty good about that.
- 18:24That tells me that we're at least going to have that that's
- 18:26going to be the the settled on seven, man.
- 18:28Rotation, the question is going to be is that whose is there
- 18:33going to be an extra interior guy that works in there at some
- 18:35point? And is that person Jesse Hanson
- 18:39time will tell but I think if you're looking at the solid,
- 18:43man, rotation, 7 man, rotation, I mean, that's going to be the
- 18:47guys there with Ty Smith really working in it either tackled
- 18:51Depending on who goes down and you got Johnny, Jordan, it's
- 18:56kind of the full-on Swing interior lineman there because
- 18:59he can really play all three positions if you needed to
- 19:04absolutely. Um I was just again I was just
- 19:08glad that got them out there. Yeah if if nothing else because
- 19:12again it makes you think okay because of how that game was
- 19:16going to. That you could not make
- 19:20mistakes, you could, because it was a tight game and by putting
- 19:25them out there where it was heated.
- 19:28I know, Johnny got out there early like Tyrell came in late,
- 19:33s the first time I saw him but knowing there were in the
- 19:35situation where it's like, hey, we have to protect the
- 19:39quarterback. We need to get I run lanes, open
- 19:41because this is a tie game and it's on you guys to come out
- 19:44here and do the job and essentially overall Sounds like
- 19:48they did the job and going forward.
- 19:51You where 27, man rotation. Yep, love to see, Jesse Hanson
- 19:56on his fix an expedition with his fishing Expedition with
- 20:01Sergio render. Get some tips and techniques
- 20:06He's getting techniques on both ends there.
- 20:07Let's hope it's both in fishing and offensive line, sir.
- 20:11All right, Brian. Let's next jump to the defensive
- 20:14line because I think these were the stats when we talked about
- 20:18them. After, you know, 24/7 and
- 20:23Mathias, put them out there. That we were like, okay, let's
- 20:27start with a defensive tackles. You want to talk about?
- 20:30A balanced rotation Pollard. 36 Kendricks 34 fuga, 30, Jordan
- 20:38Williams 29. What does this say to you?
- 20:42Does it say anything. Since you know, the guy who's
- 20:44coaching the defensive line, that tells me, he's doing
- 20:46exactly what he wants to do with his four, best defensive linemen
- 20:50and that's rotate them significantly throughout the
- 20:54game. Keeping guys fresh making sure
- 20:56that guys aren't winded for long periods of time and that's
- 21:00especially key in game one. We saw a fugazi, I think go down
- 21:06with what look like maybe a cramp there one point.
- 21:09And just trying to gain one. Still warmer September.
- 21:15Even if you want you want to keep guys fresh to avoid the
- 21:21cramping and as they're kind of getting used to that full game
- 21:24that first full game because it does hit different than any sort
- 21:30of practice element that you can have. absolutely again seeing
- 21:34the rotation and you know something maybe next couple days
- 21:40being you go back and look at is seeing who was paired with who
- 21:45Because that would be interesting.
- 21:47Is it, is it something like we talked about in the preseason
- 21:50where like you feel like it's going to be these two guys and
- 21:53then these two guys or is it now he's mixing and matching he
- 21:57feels comfortable with all four. Well, let's talk about that a
- 22:00little bit because what we saw is a lot of three-man line with
- 22:04bar know, really kind of playing a joker.
- 22:07And, and kind of lining up all throughout the defense, he was
- 22:11still on the line of scrimmage but he was kind of picking Gap.
- 22:16Based on where the, where the defense of call was for the
- 22:19line. And that really confused that
- 22:23North Carolina front, they didn't know what to do.
- 22:26He played 53 snaps and he was left side right side.
- 22:31He stood up he spied, he played some Drop Zone.
- 22:35I mean you know we always talk about all ows right?
- 22:39Offensive weapons. You got a defensive weapon
- 22:41because the guy can come off the edge to.
- 22:43God. Does have a good pass rush.
- 22:44Shhhh. But the guy up until the summer
- 22:47of last year had been a linebacker, literally his whole
- 22:51life. So it seems like the defensive
- 22:55line and maybe Jack caller is saying, listen, we can do some
- 22:58special things we can go. We can go with a 30 front and we
- 23:01can put bar no in the gaps. Are we put them on the edge?
- 23:05We essentially can make that quarterback have to think ten
- 23:10times more when he's at the line and where's wait a second?
- 23:14Where's the Of them ways that he's over here.
- 23:16Why do you just move over here? Yep you need to snap the ball
- 23:20and we got to set. We got a sack on one play where
- 23:23he dropped into coverage and it became a three-man rush.
- 23:27But they had shifted protection to Bar.
- 23:29No. And then he dropped the next
- 23:33thing. You know, you got other guys
- 23:34with one-on-ones and I think that if I recall, I think that
- 23:38was one of garbage sacks. I might be wrong.
- 23:41Might have been, I have to go back and look and recall because
- 23:44The old ticker sometimes with the old brain, just sometimes
- 23:48forget things but he led with 53.
- 23:51I think the next three numbers really shocked me tell on guard
- 23:54who had a hell of a game. 38 snaps that I expected that the
- 23:58next to the next one really popped out.
- 24:02Jalen Griffin had 27 snaps which is that doesn't shot.
- 24:07I figured that the the first three were going to be roughly
- 24:1150% give or take. Of the snap count.
- 24:16So the fact that he was up there right at right, just below 50
- 24:18percent that doesn't Shock Me. Did it shock you that Eli Adams?
- 24:22Got about 20 percent play in getting 12 snaps, it did
- 24:28especially since I saw how creative we were getting with
- 24:30our alignments, but I think the fact that Barna was able to play
- 24:34the snaps that he was meant, that we also got to limit how
- 24:39much we put Eli on the field. It's so that's probably a
- 24:42positive Because I think Eli in short, spurts is finalized for
- 24:47multiple drives, you know, in a half, probably isn't going to be
- 24:52able to hold up for that long. Absolutely.
- 24:57And again, will be interesting this week.
- 24:59We see McCrae Nelson Carol. I think that should be a goal
- 25:04this week for us. Those definitely a goal.
- 25:07Yeah. Try to try to get as many guys
- 25:09in as you can this week especially against we're going
- 25:13to talk about it here. What looks to be a smaller
- 25:16offensive line unit get some of those younger guys in that can
- 25:20that because the you know they can match up physically against
- 25:23this offensive line and see what they can do.
- 25:25Absolutely. Um we got some breaking news,
- 25:30probably about 30 minutes. It's like I think about the
- 25:33time. Me and Brawn got on.
- 25:34We're getting ready guys. Yep.
- 25:36Big 12 / Pete. Campbell's expected to add UCF
- 25:40Cincy, Houston and BYU in 2023 so three years prior to the
- 25:48Texas. Oklahoma expected exit.
- 25:52Let me phrase it to you this way Braun.
- 25:55Will the Big 12 with these additions?
- 25:58Still be part of the power 5. I think so I think so and I
- 26:04think that they've done a good job of highlighting some growth
- 26:10potential that still more or less within their Geographic
- 26:14footprint. UCF in Cincy notwithstanding but
- 26:24you know plus is for them. It gets them in a relatively
- 26:29large, Ohio market, and it gets him in a really big Central,
- 26:33Florida market. So kudos to them, in terms of
- 26:37the financial side, getting into those markets, you know,
- 26:42snagging the Houston Market, you know, you're already in Texas.
- 26:46But you're losing that kind of. South Eastern Market in in
- 26:53Austin, you're gaining one right back with Houston.
- 26:56It true. But Texas is more the whole
- 26:58state brand. So I think they're they're
- 27:01losing a big piece but they're gaining at least some sort
- 27:05you're keeping For teens and Texas.
- 27:08Still. So you have the you have the
- 27:10cross rivalries and stuff. I think what it I'm going to be
- 27:14interested to see because if a of Texas and Oklahoma state
- 27:19they're probably going to go to 14 team or 2714 team leaves
- 27:24going to go to 27 conferences. I want to see how they do that
- 27:29more so of where they put Texas where they put Oklahoma And
- 27:34because I think what you're going to see is the way it
- 27:37probably should look. It should be since e, West
- 27:42Virginia. UCF.
- 27:45And then we kind of come back this way.
- 27:48Who was the other three teams in the Eastern?
- 27:51Is it the Kansas schools? Do you put Oklahoma State in
- 27:54Houston on that side? And it is the other side more
- 27:58Texas or is it north south? I mean yeah.
- 28:02And I think another thing to look at is that does this mean
- 28:05that there's going to be some negotiations, that the SEC and
- 28:11the Big 12 are going to have some sort of agreement?
- 28:14Where that Bye out goes down a little bit in SEC covers it so
- 28:20Texas and Oklahoma can go ahead and dip when the others join
- 28:25maybe, maybe not because I think if you if you're the Big 12, you
- 28:30just stand Pat and say you need to pay as 160 million dollars if
- 28:33you want to get out. We have to say that for them
- 28:38anyway. Now lets us both the schools
- 28:41have have the financials to recoup that money.
- 28:46I mean over the Long Haul anyway who through, but either way, 160
- 28:51million out of anybody's, budget is still significant jeevan
- 28:54Anand, come on the heels of code.
- 28:56That's definitely a big factor yes, take into account.
- 28:59No doubt. My other point is my other thing
- 29:02about what the big 12 did is the credit of Getting Sensi up
- 29:06really sensing the last 15 years has been a very good group of
- 29:10high school. Yeah.
- 29:12Multiple New Year's six bowls, we play them back in 07.
- 29:16UCF is about the same way. They were good in the early
- 29:192000s, had some rough patches started building up again in the
- 29:24mid-2000s Houston's kind of always been like that.
- 29:28They were in the old swac. They have a Heisman winner and
- 29:30Andre Ware and then BYU. I mean It's a good base.
- 29:36I mean now, as far as Logistics. I feel for fanbases traveling
- 29:41because the year BYU plays UCF for Cincinnati and that is going
- 29:48to be some interesting games, but some very long hauls for
- 29:52teams players, coaches and fans. All right, big guy.
- 30:02NFL starts tomorrow, NFL kicks off tomorrow night with the boys
- 30:07in the box which I'll probably be partaking a little bit in.
- 30:11I have some, I have some interest in both of those teams
- 30:15fantasy football. Well, I've got some fantasy
- 30:17interest in those games. Amari Cooper in particular like
- 30:21Evans Chris Godwin. You got a little Somethin huh,
- 30:27you got both of them. Yeah.
- 30:29Yeah, both different leagues. Yeah, Heavens in the league.
- 30:34We're in. Okay, got one.
- 30:35I literally, but let's, let's talk this, man.
- 30:38Let's talk your Colts. How are you feeling leading to
- 30:42the game versus a Seattle? I'm feeling better than I felt
- 30:47last week when I when we had kind of three of our linchpin
- 30:51players on the covid list and you know, still some question
- 30:58marks, whether wimps is going to be ready to go, still some
- 31:00question marks, whether quim Nelson was going to be ready to
- 31:02go, but both of them look to be Full Speed Ahead.
- 31:08So we'll see how game one goes especially against the the
- 31:13Seahawks, you know. Was on the short term, I are.
- 31:17So we're going to be leading on Michael, Pittman going to be
- 31:23leaning on Paris, Campbell is, so, it should be interesting,
- 31:28probably going to get, but all of our tight ends involved.
- 31:30So looking forward to what we can do against the Hogs.
- 31:34Hopefully, our defense can keep Russell Wilson and check and we
- 31:37can make some plays on offense and come out with the w.
- 31:41Nice. What about you, man?
- 31:43How's the, what's the Niners talk looking like?
- 31:48Well, probably the best thing I feel about as we're playing the
- 31:51Lions, that's a good start, that's a great start.
- 31:55As we're playing probably the worst team in the league, you
- 31:59know, Lance hurt his finger the other day, like chipped a bone
- 32:03in it, but he's back throwing today, Jimmy's the official
- 32:08starter because he took the interviews.
- 32:10Monday. And today, which is essentially
- 32:13over your starting quarterback, is, has to be available to the
- 32:15Press those two days. Just like during a during the
- 32:21normal week, they have talked after the game and during the
- 32:25week we're coming in. Pretty healthy.
- 32:31The defensive line is just it's just nasty.
- 32:34I mean, you know, do you? I mean, I mean tween for door.
- 32:40Stead kinlaw Samson, a cab on, and then both of coming back
- 32:48along with all pro, linebackers, really good safeties Corners are
- 32:54a little shaky, so that'll be interesting.
- 32:59But if you're having a pass rush, like we had two years ago,
- 33:03you don't need to Jalen Ramsey's in the back.
- 33:06You just need good solid coverage.
- 33:10Because they're going to get home more than not.
- 33:12Yeah. And so you see you to be solid
- 33:15initially because yeah, there's not going to be a whole lot of
- 33:18time for quarterbacks. As long as you're not getting
- 33:21beat those first two to four seconds.
- 33:26Exactly, exactly. So we're feeling pretty good
- 33:29about it, and then obviously one guy Kentavious Street, Robbie's
- 33:34Boys, still making the team and then big shout-out coach tap out
- 33:41there, cutting his teeth in the NFL with chriskiss Erick man.
- 33:44So, you know, unfortunately we're a one o'clock so I have no
- 33:48chance of seeing it. No chance of seeing the game but
- 33:55It is what it is, is glad to have it back, you know, got a
- 33:58couple Niners on my fantasy teams to so feeling good.
- 34:03Just just kind of ready for a full football weekend, Thursday
- 34:08NFL having some, some college games and then having some more
- 34:14NFL and some more NFL and some more NFL.
- 34:18Exactly. Hi guys.
- 34:21So before we get to our main topic tonight of knowing the
- 34:24enemy Middle, Tennessee, See State.
- 34:26We are going to take a quick pause or a message from our
- 34:29digital partners. All right, Brian.
- 34:34So let's Know The Enemy. Let's start its Middle.
- 34:38Tennessee State. The blue Raiders just outside
- 34:41Nashville. The blue, Raiders Effort and see
- 34:45what the heck? Blue Raiders ours or something
- 34:47to do with Tennessee during some historical period.
- 34:50Perhaps, I don't know, but Middle Tennessee, State from
- 34:54Conference USA. Coming off a pretty bad three
- 34:57and six season. It's kind of funny.
- 35:00The first recollection, first game I watched last year during
- 35:03the covid was them just getting absolutely shelled by Army like
- 35:0942. Nothing.
- 35:10And just like, we were supposed to play on last year's like
- 35:13crap. And we don't get to play this
- 35:16terrible thing. So, you know, of course, they
- 35:20make some changes, go get some players in the portal this year
- 35:23and let's start with this guy. Somebody we know about, They do
- 35:29very well from our first game last year.
- 35:32Yes, we do. Bailey Hockman the NC State
- 35:35transfer. Very familiar with him.
- 35:39Play that first game with us last year, did not have a good
- 35:43game at Lane Stadium. Empty, 7 / 16, 82 yards with two
- 35:48interceptions. Overall the numbers last year
- 35:51with NC State weren't terrible. But they weren't world-beating
- 35:54clearly. You know after seeing NC State
- 35:56last week, why he kind of moved to Middle Tennessee State 2088,
- 36:02yard 64 percent completion percentage with 13 touchdowns in
- 36:0711 interceptions had a somewhat solid, you know, game against
- 36:14Monmouth 17 422 to 1577 completion percentage with three
- 36:20touchdowns no interceptions. I know you looked at some of the
- 36:26highlights and a little bit of the game.
- 36:28I mean, his much changed in his game from last year, when we saw
- 36:31him not much, he still likes to challenge him through that, that
- 36:36outside fade likes to Target receivers outside in particular,
- 36:40doesn't go over the middle very much.
- 36:44When he did, you know, he made him pay last year so hopefully
- 36:47we can do that again for a different team.
- 36:51But he throws a pretty good deep ball.
- 36:54The, the key is going to be, getting pressure on him, making
- 36:57him uncomfortable, making him throw before, he's ready and,
- 37:01and hopefully making him have to have to look to the middle of
- 37:03the field where he sometimes takes too many risk.
- 37:07So what you're saying is Sidelines are as friends and
- 37:11middle of the field. Probably, like what happened
- 37:13last year. He doesn't see it.
- 37:16He doesn't, he doesn't come through those regions, see where
- 37:18the coverage is, our it's more of, I can push it, but if I go
- 37:22here, I'm probably going to miss some.
- 37:25Yeah. I mean, it looks like he likes
- 37:26to know where to where to leverage the football.
- 37:29So if he's, you know, able to essentially leverage It, One
- 37:33Direction knowing the Defenders on the other that that helps him
- 37:36in terms of his reach, he's Had enough of an arm where he can
- 37:39kind of throw that that 10 or 12 yard out and still get it out
- 37:43there. You can throw that deep fade and
- 37:46still get the ball out there towards the sidelines.
- 37:48He's got enough arm to make those throws and he's very
- 37:51comfortable. When it's kind of that that that
- 37:53one side leverage, leverage throw where he's not worried
- 37:55about Defenders that are moving, laterally in, both directions,
- 38:00got it. So one of those things where if
- 38:03he's having a thinker, you're bearing down on him.
- 38:05The more we do that, probably the more Or bad things will
- 38:08happen like last year. Yeah.
- 38:11And that's going to be the thing for them is that they played a
- 38:13pretty clean game against Monmouth bearing and and really
- 38:19the Monmouth had exactly the opposite.
- 38:20So it'll get into that room. We will get into that.
- 38:26I really want to see what what Hockman ends up doing when we
- 38:30can get pressure on him. Unlike Monmouth was able to do.
- 38:34Absolutely. Because he does have some
- 38:36weapons. and, you know, I want to talk about Jalen Lane first
- 38:43because you know five foot eight hundred seventy four pound wide
- 38:46receiver /. He is also their punt.
- 38:48Returner 161 all-purpose yards. Last week, score two, touchdowns
- 38:53one interception, which was 30 plus yards, eluding, back to
- 38:56your point of how Hawking likes to push the ball down the field
- 39:00and then the punt return of 70-plus yards was which was
- 39:05their first score in the second quarter.
- 39:08He definitely looks like a Kind of a home run hitter there for
- 39:12them. Yeah, he's a freshman sophomore,
- 39:15not a lot of production last year.
- 39:17So that first game was obviously his biggest game thus far in his
- 39:22collegiate career, and it seems like Hockman was able to get the
- 39:25most out of him combined, with the big punt.
- 39:28Return obviously increased that all-purpose yardage there.
- 39:33He had really three big plays that constituted most of his
- 39:37yards, he had the long but returned, he had a 35-yard.
- 39:41Gain that set up their first touchdown and then he had the
- 39:4332-yard touchdown I believe in the second quarter.
- 39:47Mmm. So again you're not seeing
- 39:51those, you're not seeing many easy, easy throws, you know,
- 39:56hooks coming over the middles and stuff like that with them is
- 40:01if you take 30 to 35 and then the 70, you only had two more
- 40:05receptions and to their about for about 15 to hit that 161.
- 40:09But they do have someone who is maybe a little more of a stick.
- 40:13Mover in the 62, 210 CJ Windham, you have somebody challenging
- 40:18Tyrell Smith for eligibility. He is on year 6 and if
- 40:23everything plays right, I think he might have eligibility next
- 40:26year on he was 5446. His longest was 18 yards, so
- 40:31obviously probably that back shoulder fade, type guy.
- 40:34He did score a touchdown but through his first five years,
- 40:39Brian again. Animal production, five years.
- 40:43He was only at 80 receptions 1097 yards and 11 touchdowns.
- 40:48Yeah, not exactly. You know, killing the world.
- 40:54Yeah, he's definitely your possession wide receiver.
- 40:56He's the stick mover. He's the guy that you're going
- 40:59to look for for kind of a tough tough third down like a short
- 41:04third down where you just need to get the first down and keep
- 41:07it moving. Big bodies also going to be
- 41:10using the Red Zone, but that's not where Hockman is going to
- 41:15try to strike most often. He's going to be used in a very
- 41:19situational fashion. Oh and that's making you know
- 41:24again he only had he had five receptions you know, averaging
- 41:28right at 9 or reception. So again if anything gets
- 41:32probably his Outlet guy on the outside.
- 41:35Yep. Well I want to look smallest guy
- 41:37on the field for them who made a big play.
- 41:40He plays primarily in the slot 57 150.
- 41:44I did not stutter five-foot-seven 150-pound.
- 41:49The FDA England, Chisholm 48 total scrimmage yards last week
- 41:54with a touchdown. He's played for two years just
- 41:58under 400 scrimmage yards each year.
- 42:01So a little bit of production but again, the way we're seeing
- 42:07slots used nowadays, you know, almost kind of say that's
- 42:10disappointing, but that little inside wheel here and for that
- 42:14touchdown, That was nasty. Yep.
- 42:17And he's got the wheels and the shifting is at that position.
- 42:22I think it's been more of a consistency thing with him and I
- 42:27think sighs kind of limits what they can do with him from the
- 42:31slot. Because if they run him over the
- 42:34middle all game, they're going to get the kid killed especially
- 42:36against even Conference USA Talent.
- 42:39Let alone. Yeah, going up against Virginia
- 42:42Tech or other power 5. Rams.
- 42:45So but that wheel was nasty 29-yard touchdown.
- 42:51Yeah. So definitely gonna have to keep
- 42:53an eye on him. Probably he's going to be
- 42:54matched up with either tamari Connor.
- 42:58Or if we go true nickel you will see probably either waller or
- 43:02Chapman on him. Yeah, I'm going to ask this just
- 43:06from you kind of looking at the tape a little more.
- 43:08Look at the highlights looking a few extra plates.
- 43:12Does any of them? Like, absolutely, you sit there
- 43:17and say he could have a really, really good game, regardless,
- 43:21how we claim. I think, if we kind of play in
- 43:25the secondary similar to what we did against you and see, the
- 43:27only one that really scares me is lame just because that, that
- 43:32ability to take the top off and that's where Hoffman likes to go
- 43:36with the football. So, you know, the shots are
- 43:38going to be taken. Whereas Sam howl.
- 43:43Like to kind of work the ball to a bunch of different guys.
- 43:46Feel like Lanes going to be the primary target because he's
- 43:50gonna be the one that is probably going to be matched up
- 43:52either one-on-one or in a single coverage situation there and
- 44:00we're just going to have to make sure that he doesn't beat us.
- 44:02Deep keep keep everything in front of us, make the plays,
- 44:05like Dorian strong Did In The End Zone, where, you know, those
- 44:0850/50 balls, he doesn't come down with them.
- 44:11Absolutely. Alright, Braun.
- 44:13Let's move over to the rushing attack.
- 44:15You made a few notes Here. You've updated this, and I've
- 44:18laughed as we're looking at it. So 94 yards on 32 carries.
- 44:25Yep. They had 11 players with at
- 44:27least one Rush attempt. Yep.
- 44:30That you. So I'm here running backs, five
- 44:32different running backs, three different, quarterbacks three,
- 44:35different quarterback, to Russia, Weaver's got involved
- 44:37with because England Chisholm had a rush, yeah, absolute that
- 44:44play was on the most rushing yards for any one person was
- 44:49Frank peasant, with 27 yards. Five carries and he had an
- 44:5418-yard carry of those 27 so he had one at 18 for at 9:00.
- 45:00Yeah um I mean they're playing mamas I mean in my mouth is a
- 45:06solid FCS program they've made the playoffs.
- 45:10Yeah that was their top 10 FCS program so there is no slouch in
- 45:13that level but what? They're still.
- 45:16Absolutely three yards. A carry less than 40 yards, a
- 45:19carry I'll tell you. So I'll say this, I will say, I
- 45:24will say what I'm saying here. And you tell me what you think.
- 45:29They're running attack reminds me of, like a shittier version
- 45:32of what pit tries to do with their running attack.
- 45:35Imagine pit with really, really small offensive lineman.
- 45:40Okay. Um, well obviously for us in the
- 45:44past, it's either been feast or famine with pit, where they
- 45:47can't get anything going, or they burn us alive.
- 45:50So they usually burn us alive in the pass game.
- 45:54They really get big big rushing games against us.
- 45:58Understand 2018, though they did.
- 46:00Right? Yeah, you got the rent.
- 46:02Forget that game. I know.
- 46:04It's still just leave it out think, but they also always have
- 46:08very big offensive line. They're not, they're not sitting
- 46:11here because I think you told me or we read somewhere, they have
- 46:16a freshman that's 270 pounds. Yeah, he's his playing weight,
- 46:21is what my playing weight was. And I was at hand and Sydney
- 46:23playing D3. So he's got, he's got about two
- 46:27or three inches. Sonmi height-wise.
- 46:29But yeah, and I was relatively under sized.
- 46:37So what else did we go? I mean, I mean is the whole line
- 46:41that way, primarily they're all smaller, they're not small like
- 46:45that, but they are smaller compared to your average even G5
- 46:51offensive line and they had trouble moving, a lot of what
- 46:57they did in. Running game.
- 46:59Misdirection help them, kind of get some leverage where they
- 47:02were able to get a couple plays. One was a particular, I think
- 47:05was like a wildcat type formation.
- 47:08I forget number number 44. I can't remember the name of
- 47:11that player, but he scooted in for a touchdown thinking about
- 47:15eight or nine yards out. Well designed play, but a lot of
- 47:19how they generated offense in the running game was through
- 47:23misdirection and guys just being out of place to make the play,
- 47:25they were not pooping the line of scrimmage.
- 47:30All right. So you know, they gave up two
- 47:34sacks in this book to sex is good, you know, not bad, not bad
- 47:4011 tackles for loss. Yeah I mean that's that's the
- 47:44Troublesome number even more a bar know like going to get 12
- 47:47tackles for loss. I mean, we should so we should
- 47:51dominate them inside. With our tackles, our tackles
- 47:55are big and strong enough to push them back collapse, the
- 48:00Rocket make the running backs, have to run the hump and then I
- 48:03think our defensive ends are going to have a field day.
- 48:08So let's hope that we can bring that same intensity that we had
- 48:13with the defensive line against you and see into the game this
- 48:16week. Yeah, absolutely.
- 48:19And the 44 year talking about was chatting morally when
- 48:23they're running back there. So yeah, the way I see our
- 48:27defensive line plane. I mean again Monmouth is a
- 48:31top-10 FCS good school but I don't think they're bringing
- 48:36these sort of seven man rotation.
- 48:39We have on the defensive line along with some of our
- 48:41linebackers. The other thing that kind of
- 48:44caught my eye when I see a team and I want to mention a couple
- 48:47of Things like that but when I see a team win 5214, if I expect
- 48:56almost domination in every category.
- 48:59Yeah. The one category I did not see
- 49:03true domination in and they had a lot of them is third and
- 49:07fourth down conversions. They had 12 and 4 when you win
- 49:115214. Yeah and your 3 of 12 on
- 49:17converting Hose in the back of my mind and I'm going to get
- 49:22into the stuff later as I make my prediction in the back of my
- 49:25mind. That says, so how did you score
- 49:28all those points because you weren't consistently driving the
- 49:33ball on, you know, six to eight plays and punching it in the end
- 49:37zone against an FCS team? You were doing something
- 49:39different and I will mention that when I get to my
- 49:42prediction, teaser everybody, okay, that's a teaser.
- 49:46And as a teaser because I think it's going to I think people
- 49:49that haven't really looked into it are going to be probably a
- 49:52little bit shocked to know how, but let's turn to their defense
- 49:55brand last year. Their defense was bad.
- 49:57Yep, real bad. They gave up over four hundred
- 50:00forty, six yards a game. They were like one position
- 50:03ahead of Virginia Tech and we know how bad we were last year
- 50:06on defense, 35 points, a game. Now, they did get about one and
- 50:13a half takeaways per game, which is not a terrible.
- 50:18But I think if you told me at the end of our season, if we
- 50:21play 12 full games, we were closing in on 20 turnovers.
- 50:25I think I'd be fine with that but overall really not a good
- 50:30defensive performance from them. And I'm going to start with, you
- 50:36know, one of their defensive backs tells across who had been
- 50:39a corner like they've converted over to safety 510 193.
- 50:44Not a lot of games played his first three years.
- 50:48You have a big pick six against Monmouth.
- 50:52So what are you seeing from Ross in their back end.
- 50:57He's definitely a ball Hawk and I think that's the thing.
- 51:01We're going to have to watch out for us, not to make any any of
- 51:04those dangerous throws across the across the middle, because
- 51:09it will go after the ball as we saw it against mom.
- 51:11But took a pic 6 back, but not as sound in coverage, but he
- 51:18makes up for it with with this play on the football and being
- 51:21aggressive. All right, so it's essentially
- 51:24one of those guys. If you're what you just said is,
- 51:27if he's not really sounding coverage, he's probably
- 51:30freelanced a lot and little bit of free, a little bit of
- 51:34freelance. He's kind of, kind of out there
- 51:36not necessarily doing his own thing, but he is willing to give
- 51:40up a big play in order to make a big play.
- 51:43Okay. Okay.
- 51:45Okay, I start hearing that and that immediately makes me think
- 51:49especially in the middle of the field.
- 51:51If he's willing to try to make a big play, let's let's make him
- 51:56think about going one side of the field and then hit them on
- 51:59the other if he's trying to freelance.
- 52:01So some of those Throwbacks, something to Mitchell, how would
- 52:06you attack them? I think that's a good way to do
- 52:09it. Take advantage of his
- 52:11aggressiveness. May be working a double move.
- 52:14Let him try to bite on the first, the first move, and then
- 52:17beat him over the top. You want to try to steal a pack
- 52:20in, but you also don't want to run a vanilla route and have BB
- 52:25throw off his back foot in his Direction because we know that's
- 52:29something that he needs to clean up.
- 52:32Alright next, I want to move down to the defensive line guy
- 52:35with a really good game. Last week six 2260, defensive
- 52:41end, Jordan Ferguson, you know, solid 2020 season 42, tackles
- 52:49four and a half tackles for loss of sack and a half, really good
- 52:52game against Monmouth. Three tackles one, sack two
- 52:56tackles for loss, a forced fumble and a quarterback hit
- 53:01and, you know, overall they had, you know, multiple forced
- 53:06fumbles. They had a couple stat3 Sachs.
- 53:09They had ten tackles for loss, was he leading the way because
- 53:13or was he more of one of just is it more of a committee with
- 53:17their line? He's kind of the fire guy.
- 53:20He's the guy that gets them going and we saw it with the
- 53:24forced fumble that that kind of got kind of woke them up, got
- 53:29them going. I think that was what actually
- 53:31led to their first touchdown early in the second quarter, if
- 53:34I'm not mistaken, there very often, It's a touchdown.
- 53:38Yes, that's the process of repairing.
- 53:41Yeah. Yeah.
- 53:43So that kind of got them going and I feel like that that's the
- 53:47type of role he has. He's a good player but he's kind
- 53:51of the juice for that defensive line.
- 53:54All right, does anything else on their defensive line when you
- 53:57were looking at it present, what you think, might be problems?
- 54:02Or is it more of There'll be able to handle them but they
- 54:06have pretty good speed off the edge.
- 54:08We need to make sure that we're getting good sets and not
- 54:10letting them get to Braxton quick but if we set well there's
- 54:16nothing spectacular about any of those players but they are solid
- 54:21and they are pretty quick that that you don't want to just let
- 54:24them run around the edge on you. All right for you because of how
- 54:28good we run the ball. Are you in going back to your
- 54:32Heyday? Are you you just want to punish
- 54:36them or early running the ball and it's in.
- 54:38Yeah. There's there's no reason we
- 54:40shouldn't take the fight to them, right out of the gate and
- 54:44make them start thinking up front.
- 54:45And then once they're thinking up front, we can start,
- 54:47peppering them in with some other things we like to do in
- 54:49the past game or some other things we like to do in the
- 54:53screen game. So kind of make them I know you
- 54:56talked about Ross like the hawk but making the defensive back in
- 55:00the defensive coordinator. Say listen you've got to go
- 55:02support upfront because if not By the time they get to you,
- 55:06you're going to have 15 yards because they're going to blow
- 55:08through our, you know, our two fronts.
- 55:12I mean based on what I saw against UNC and based on the
- 55:15tape that I've seen there's no reason that we shouldn't
- 55:17dominate them in the running game up front with our offensive
- 55:20line, we probably yardage wise left a bunch of rushing yards on
- 55:26the field against USC that weren't necessarily blocking
- 55:30problems. So if we can take Take more
- 55:34advantage of that in this game. Consistently, it should be a
- 55:37pretty good game for our running backs.
- 55:40Hopefully, we can get Blackshear over 100 all-purpose maybe get
- 55:45Holston close to 100 total. Essentially, let's make them
- 55:49pay. And by making that Frontline,
- 55:51pay a guy who really impressive stats.
- 55:56DQ Thomas the six to two hundred sixteen pound linebacker.
- 56:01I mean last season, sixty seven, tackles seven, tackles for loss
- 56:06three sacks, two forced fumbles in a couple years ago, back in
- 56:12eighteen seventy, plus tackles ten tackles for loss eight
- 56:17sacks. So he's contributed every year
- 56:20and this year is no different already.
- 56:22Starting off with nine tackles and two tackles for loss.
- 56:26If you could bet on, DQ Thomas for Saturday in the line was ten
- 56:32and a half over under tackles. Are you taking the over the
- 56:35under? I want to take the over just
- 56:37because I think we're going to be running the ball a lot.
- 56:40I think we want to really kind of get comfortable with our
- 56:44offensive line and running. I feel like this is a good kind
- 56:46of tune up for what we're going to potentially.
- 56:48See it West Virginia. The following week.
- 56:51God don't want to look past Middle Tennessee, but you also
- 56:54want to make sure that you are working the areas that you need
- 56:58to work ahead of a bigger opponent.
- 57:01I feel like this is a good opportunity to do that.
- 57:04All right. Gotta make that part of your
- 57:06game plan. We really do and we already
- 57:08mentioned it and I'm going to mention it again.
- 57:12The forcing of turnovers they forced four turnovers on
- 57:17Saturday. Yep.
- 57:19And that was that's really you've already mentioned it.
- 57:21Brian if we play clean You know, there should be no reason why
- 57:28this shouldn't be an absolute blowout in as I give my
- 57:32prediction a little while and yours.
- 57:34Brian. I think I think we're kind of
- 57:37seeing it that way. Now, last week folks, we saw the
- 57:42Alpha version of the Hokies 2021.
- 57:48Me and Brian got together. We need to write it a beta
- 57:51version things. We, like things we need to
- 57:55improve upon. So let's start with the quality
- 57:58offense, Braun. The beta version versus Middle
- 58:02Tennessee State. What is the first thing that you
- 58:06want us to see? Or want us to do differently?
- 58:10Take more shots, downfield to kind of stretch that offense and
- 58:14give the running game a little bit more room to work.
- 58:17I mentioned earlier, maybe some double moves that take advantage
- 58:21of the safety aggressiveness. I think we can match up well
- 58:25outside against their Corners. I think we should be able to
- 58:27take a couple shots against them, get Braxton more
- 58:30comfortable, throwing the Deep ball.
- 58:32He had a couple good ones in in that game, probably a couple
- 58:36we'd like to have back. I want to see him get hit pretty
- 58:39consistent with that. This is a good opponent to
- 58:41really kind of kind of work himself in in that Groove.
- 58:45Absolutely the shot to Trey Turner down that side Lon.
- 58:48You couldn't have placed it any better.
- 58:50Yeah. As across, you could not replace
- 58:53any better. I think we talked about more
- 58:55downfield shots. Obviously there was one drawn up
- 58:58middle, third, third, fourth quarter, late second, half of
- 59:02that game where essentially trade Turner's free.
- 59:05It is a 40 yard pass. It is a touchdown, he missed the
- 59:08read. So we saw that, we saw him a
- 59:12couple other times. We were on to push the ball
- 59:14downfield, so I think it's there, I just think if we get to
- 59:19a place of especially if we're running the ball and Brian
- 59:23actually going to, I'm Gonna Roll into the next one here.
- 59:27If we're doing what you say, has to be done, which is
- 59:29consistently running the ball better, especially against a
- 59:32smaller defensive line. I think those shots are going to
- 59:35be there potentially all day. If they come up early and I
- 59:40mean, they're loading 9 in the Box early, we have to take them,
- 59:46you know, beam over the top one time and guarantee of the back.
- 59:50But even that case, Brian, I feel like their size I still
- 59:56think we should run the ball consistently, even if they're
- 59:58putting 89 in the Box. Do you think we still should be
- 1:00:01getting with a loaded box or 5 yards every touch eight?
- 1:00:07Maybe not 90. They're not going to commit
- 1:00:11none. I mean, I mean, it's a 425
- 1:00:16there. They're going to consistently
- 1:00:17have six to seven in the box. If they end up having to bring a
- 1:00:22tin, then we'll be able to Feast outside.
- 1:00:25I'd pretty pretty significantly. So but I mean Point number two,
- 1:00:30we got to get consistent with that.
- 1:00:31Run the right. We yes saw we saw a couple areas
- 1:00:35where we hit some good runs especially on some key downs.
- 1:00:39And then we saw some areas where, you know there's a little
- 1:00:42bit of mistake a little bit of a, you know, handoff conundrum.
- 1:00:46A little bit of little little bit of just not quite finely
- 1:00:50tuned in some areas and I'd like to see that bit more consistent.
- 1:00:55I like to see. It's not have those negative
- 1:00:57plays especially the self-inflicted negative plays.
- 1:00:59Oh yeah. So if we can do that, I think
- 1:01:03we're going to have a pretty big night.
- 1:01:06Absolutely, third Point here. There were numerous times and
- 1:01:10you pointed this out to me. in Friday's game that if Braxton
- 1:01:16Burmeister had just pulled, we might have had a lot more
- 1:01:21rushing yards. We could have had a lot more
- 1:01:23points, and do you think that was just now?
- 1:01:27Do you think that was just the game plan?
- 1:01:30Is this isn't a read-option, this is strictly a, you're going
- 1:01:33to show it after the fact, or do you think it was him just not
- 1:01:39reading it? So most of the calls on the
- 1:01:42night were designed for the running back.
- 1:01:44They were not read, option, plays, and then there was one I
- 1:01:49think on the First, it was the first or second first down,
- 1:01:53we're on the first drive or Braxton.
- 1:01:56It was a design quarterback run. And he got the first down, but
- 1:02:00there was a only, a probably about a handful of actual Read
- 1:02:06options in the game plan and I think all but one or all of them
- 1:02:12he gave every time so I'd like to see him keep a little bit
- 1:02:16more. I know I harped in the offseason
- 1:02:18about not running Braxton Burmeister a lot.
- 1:02:21But what I was primarily talking about his limit, those designed
- 1:02:25quarterback runs where he is, definitely keeping the ball
- 1:02:28being. He's definitely going to take a
- 1:02:29hit. I want to see him scrambling
- 1:02:32uses athleticism and I want to see him.
- 1:02:34Keep it when The play in the defense, dictates it so he can
- 1:02:39get some of those big runs really out on the edge with with
- 1:02:44nobody out there to really cover it.
- 1:02:45So, absolutely take advantage of that.
- 1:02:48It's really funny because Sally put the beta version together of
- 1:02:52the offense Prime that we can always go back up and see how
- 1:02:55everything can lead from the bottom if they're actually going
- 1:02:59to keep it more on those read options.
- 1:03:01The defense is going to have to commit more guys to, you know,
- 1:03:05making sure you're not crashing, don't crash stay up side.
- 1:03:09So if you got in the box, if two of the guys are protecting the
- 1:03:12edges because of potential run from BB, you're playing with
- 1:03:17your playing with numbers down in the Box.
- 1:03:20Thus, the consistency gets better and better.
- 1:03:23If we start consistently running the ball more.
- 1:03:27More one-on-one opportunities for your deep shots.
- 1:03:30Yeah, well, I'll say this too. So since they're their primary
- 1:03:33weapon on defense is kind of a speed rush.
- 1:03:37If we're effectively running the read option, meaning that the
- 1:03:42the gift or the key legit threat.
- 1:03:45If we go play action, defensive end has to slow play it and now
- 1:03:50he's not, he's not running at Braxton, he's waiting to see
- 1:03:54what's going to happen now. He's not putting pressure on
- 1:03:56Brad. Direction is more time to make
- 1:03:58those throws in the play action and get his feet set and three
- 1:04:01good Ball versus off of the back foot.
- 1:04:03As we've seen, he has done time to time.
- 1:04:07All right, so let's flip it over.
- 1:04:08Let's go with the Beta version of the defense.
- 1:04:12Yep, not a lot of tinkering on this one because the time and
- 1:04:20most of it is more, and we're adding special teams in here
- 1:04:25just because, you know, we're going fantasy football says,
- 1:04:29forget the defense and special teams here.
- 1:04:30Exactly. The first thing I want to see
- 1:04:33though buddy, as I want to see more snaps from that to D, this
- 1:04:37is the game to kind of get especially I'd say the
- 1:04:39linebackers. Yes, I feel like we kind of
- 1:04:42worked most of our to deepen at the other positions, but we
- 1:04:45didn't see a ton of Dean Ferguson or kishan artist really
- 1:04:52When anybody got a blow, it was Shamari Connor sliding in for
- 1:04:55that true nickel package mmm-hmm.
- 1:04:58So I'd like to see them, get some more snaps.
- 1:05:02What about you, man? Anything else you want to see?
- 1:05:04What the too deep I want to see again.
- 1:05:07I want to see more Griffin and Adams I want to Since mccrae's
- 1:05:11moved, if he has the opportunity play him, the two young guys on
- 1:05:17the backend. Same Whalum will be on Murray
- 1:05:19get everybody a little taste this week because you're going
- 1:05:23to need it as we start getting deeper into the season.
- 1:05:26So I'm with you completely on the 2D but it's too deep on both
- 1:05:28sides of all's. I want to see Jalen Jones and I
- 1:05:30want to see the Wayne locked in place on.
- 1:05:33Honestly Marco Ali, get some carries.
- 1:05:36I really want to see a line. An offensive line where it's
- 1:05:43Parker commence. Where's Jesse Hansen?
- 1:05:47Where's Johnny Jordan? Where Caden's leading it in
- 1:05:53Tyrell Smith to where we can get these guys playing more snaps
- 1:05:59live game action. So I'm completely with you I'm
- 1:06:03hoping we can use everyone this week.
- 1:06:06So essentially you want to see the if there's an eight-man
- 1:06:09rotation you want to see the bottom five not the to do.
- 1:06:12I do I want to see the bottom five because if not Nothing
- 1:06:15else. What did they look good or bad
- 1:06:18on tape? You're getting them on tape
- 1:06:20against not your scouting, your give him on tape against someone
- 1:06:25who has prepared for you AIDS teaching moments, be, it's those
- 1:06:30things where they can get the taste of actually playing the
- 1:06:32game at full speed, and there's nothing like getting that
- 1:06:39experience in my opinion. Okay.
- 1:06:42All right. Now, What also want to see is I
- 1:06:46want to see the defensive line play like they did Friday night.
- 1:06:49Yeah, they got a feast in this game.
- 1:06:51I want to see Hawk went on his backhand throw in early, the
- 1:06:54whole game. Yeah, I want to see that running
- 1:06:57game stuff even more than Monmouth, was able to stuff it,
- 1:07:03if they get more than 50 yards, rushing I'm going to be
- 1:07:06disappointed. Okay, if they get more than 50
- 1:07:11yards, rushing, I'll be shocked. I mean, they they're, they're,
- 1:07:15they're barely getting to a carry.
- 1:07:18But also with that is, I don't want these guys to take a day
- 1:07:22off. Go out in absolutely dig, dig
- 1:07:28the hole, throw them in it and then bury them.
- 1:07:31Yep. And make that seven-hour bus
- 1:07:33ride to and fro the most miserable bus ride of Middle
- 1:07:38Tennessee, States, life. It's already going to be a
- 1:07:41miserable bus ride. Just make it even more miserable
- 1:07:43because no one wants to be on a fucking bus or seven hours.
- 1:07:47But our, I digress. Yeah, laughing.
- 1:07:51I'm gonna throw in, I will throw in the special.
- 1:07:53Teams here. So I want to see some Beaver
- 1:07:55ball. I want to see a block kick or at
- 1:07:57least make them think that you're going to block a kick
- 1:08:00essentially. Scare the shit out of them.
- 1:08:04Well hold on Jalen Stroman was literally I need some thinner
- 1:08:10like literally this is a little piece of glass that he was
- 1:08:15literally that close To getting a block kick Friday night.
- 1:08:20Not once but twice, he had the thumbs touching but he didn't
- 1:08:23have the V. He didn't have the money as
- 1:08:26Aaron kumis joke about. It was a great joke, you know.
- 1:08:30Shy best told him thumbs together, you.
- 1:08:32And I got to block and no one shall best voice.
- 1:08:35I can really hear that in my head, but I think they're going
- 1:08:38to see that on tape. And I don't think, I think
- 1:08:43they're going to have like, a Max protect and they're gonna
- 1:08:45have like one Gunner. Like nah, we're Not getting
- 1:08:48along with the block kick in with that.
- 1:08:52Happening sets up return opportunities.
- 1:08:55Oh, buddy. Oh, buddy.
- 1:08:57Milt a day. We'll take a day.
- 1:09:00So Brian essentially, won't special teams to either get one
- 1:09:05or make them pay. Every time.
- 1:09:08They decide that they're going to keep everybody what one
- 1:09:10person in. Yep.
- 1:09:13And I think that is a very good possibility.
- 1:09:15Brand. All right, man.
- 1:09:18So we got our beta version done for the Hokies.
- 1:09:23It's time for the fun part time for the fun part, Braun.
- 1:09:27And I'm going to leave sir, all right, go for it because I think
- 1:09:31the stuff I've told you I think when you when other people here
- 1:09:35in this country shot the crap out of them.
- 1:09:37So first of all, This team 152, 14 great-looking women.
- 1:09:44Not really looking this. Great-looking women, not a great
- 1:09:49win. This game was 727 with just
- 1:09:54about two minutes left in the second quarter 727.
- 1:10:00Which means the only offense. They had to that point in time
- 1:10:04was a punt return. Boom, whole two minutes.
- 1:10:08They get a fumble. They get a score.
- 1:10:13They get another fumble later, they get a score, they get a
- 1:10:15pick six and get a score. So, Between special teams in
- 1:10:21turnovers. They scored 28 points.
- 1:10:24Monmouth in the third quarter goes for at their own 38.
- 1:10:30And then get a short field. Yep, they score off that.
- 1:10:34So that is now 35 of 50 points on that.
- 1:10:40And you know, this game was still even with all the stuff
- 1:10:44going on. It was still a two score game
- 1:10:46going to the fourth quarter, that's when the pick-6 happened
- 1:10:50and then a pig inside the tube it or to another fumble inside
- 1:10:53the red zone. So, I'm looking at all this data
- 1:10:56and then seeing they lost time of possession, they couldn't run
- 1:10:59the ball. The only thing they were doing
- 1:11:02good was taking 30 yards, shots and getting them.
- 1:11:08There is no way in my mind. This isn't a blowout.
- 1:11:13Yeah, we're going to cover. I want to see a 50 Berg.
- 1:11:17I don't think we're quite going to get there, but I am going to
- 1:11:20go. 4820 Hokies, what about you, man?
- 1:11:25Well, I like their offense even less than you do.
- 1:11:34They did nothing. If they didn't have a short
- 1:11:36field, they did nothing. If they weren't hitting, kind of
- 1:11:39the big play down the field, there was Zero sustained.
- 1:11:42Rise by that offense, I think we're better up front.
- 1:11:45I think we're better on the back end.
- 1:11:47I think we press them. I think they don't score, but 13
- 1:11:50points. I like us to get at least thirty
- 1:11:54eight so I'm going to go 3813. Hope he's cover Hokies win.
- 1:11:59All right. So we are both predicting,
- 1:12:01pretty much blow outs. And I'm hoping it's a true
- 1:12:05blowout. I'm not hoping that it's the
- 1:12:08Middle Tennessee State version of a blowout where you have to
- 1:12:12force billion turnover. Yeah, I don't want to see, you
- 1:12:15know, 14, late points, turn a to score game into a force, create
- 1:12:19exactly. Let's put them away and then,
- 1:12:22let's keep him at arm's length. The rest of the way, we'll put
- 1:12:24them away early and then give all these young guys a chance to
- 1:12:28get on that field. Get a chance.
- 1:12:31How about this Braun get a chance in the third?
- 1:12:34Or fourth quarter to let not skate them.
- 1:12:35See the field. There we go.
- 1:12:37Let them see the field. I would love to get our other
- 1:12:41quarterbacks involved in this game.
- 1:12:43Yes. Because At some point, we're
- 1:12:47going to need one of them to make make a play for it.
- 1:12:50Even if it's just coming in for Braxton for a key Drive, in a
- 1:12:55big game because he get nicked up, we're going to need them to
- 1:12:59get out there. You know, knock showed didn't
- 1:13:03Flinch against Clemson, I want to see him against other
- 1:13:06competition. See if he can be consistent with
- 1:13:09his blade. Not just be, you know, somewhat
- 1:13:12clutch with with coming in it and called on me.
- 1:13:15Mode there so we can get him a bunch of Series against Middle
- 1:13:20Tennessee. That'd be great.
- 1:13:22Yes, it will be super key. All right, Brian.
- 1:13:25There's a lot of games, this Saturday.
- 1:13:28Some people said it's not the best slate.
- 1:13:29I think there are some good games out here, someday, solid
- 1:13:33slate. It's not like a, it's just, it's
- 1:13:34not as Buzzy. I mean, week two is always kind
- 1:13:37of the after after the big slate of week.
- 1:13:41One week two was always kind of the You don't you know, you
- 1:13:46don't have the same number of big time out of conference games
- 1:13:50that you have in your kick off. Yeah, it's true but I think for
- 1:13:54us it's it's also a lot of it's this weekend.
- 1:13:57We kind of get to more like look at some of our future opponents
- 1:14:00and say okay. What it was week one true as we
- 1:14:05want false? Yeah.
- 1:14:07And, you know, I'll be honest that, I liked it last week know
- 1:14:11that a watch PC know it'll watched, you know.
- 1:14:17So again, watch some aduke, I saw Gunner for the ball
- 1:14:22backwards, gz. Well, let's get into this, man.
- 1:14:26Let's start. Well, first of all, let's start
- 1:14:28with this. Brian, you're having an okay
- 1:14:31season, your five and seven, couple games under 504 and six
- 1:14:36last week after a one-and-one start.
- 1:14:40You have the precipice of getting above 500.
- 1:14:43Yep. Getting getting close to getting
- 1:14:45close. I don't.
- 1:14:48Yeah, you're gonna need some work.
- 1:14:50You got some work to do this week, Man. 3 and 9.
- 1:14:54You had a row the boat this week and I do something this week so
- 1:15:00let's start it out. Brian and 11:00 kick at Scott
- 1:15:04Stadium. Illinois versus UVA UVA is a
- 1:15:0910-point favorite since you are leading the field, you shall
- 1:15:14lead the first hole sir. All right, well, You know, I
- 1:15:21thought Armstrong had a pretty good weekend week one I don't
- 1:15:27know which Illinois team is going to show up.
- 1:15:32So I'm going to actually go Eva here.
- 1:15:37Laying 10 points. Yeah, I don't do it often but I
- 1:15:44got to do it. Yeah, I don't know the Illinois
- 1:15:48team either. So, I'm almost gonna go with
- 1:15:54you, but it's still cook UVA a little bit of time doing a lot
- 1:15:58of funky shit. Finally, in bed, William and
- 1:16:04Mary. Again, I like Bret Bielema as a
- 1:16:07coach in the state of Wisconsin. The guy would have never got
- 1:16:10fired. So I'm going to take the 10
- 1:16:13points. Give me a little bit.
- 1:16:16Okay. Also this was, this was one of
- 1:16:19my hardest ones to go with. Go ahead, put it out there just
- 1:16:23because Illinois in the first two weeks is acting like,
- 1:16:27Georgia Tech was last year where I just don't know the product
- 1:16:32they put out in two weeks tells me to completely different
- 1:16:35Tales. Exactly.
- 1:16:38Like week one. They played kind of solid
- 1:16:40against a team we thought was going to be good.
- 1:16:43All right, Brian. You had conundrums on your first
- 1:16:45one. I had conundrums on this one.
- 1:16:48Pit versus Tennessee. Hit -3 and I go back and forth.
- 1:16:55Well it's at Tennessee but it's pit.
- 1:16:57So the crowds probably not going to be as jacked up if it was a
- 1:17:01better, ACC school. But then in as much as I hate to
- 1:17:07do this, Kenny fucking pick it watching Tennessee against
- 1:17:17Bowling Green who might be Might be the worst college football
- 1:17:23team in the country with Scott Leffler there.
- 1:17:28I just, I can't see, I can't see it, I can't see, I'm going to
- 1:17:34take pit, I'm going to lay the three points, whether I'm you
- 1:17:39know it's just yuck. All right.
- 1:17:49I waffle on this one, too. I don't, I hate pit.
- 1:17:55So I'm picking against Pitt. I'm picking Tennessee, I've got
- 1:17:59hinden hooker, coming off the bench and winning this game.
- 1:18:06Alright, Braun. Brian, they're just hate spit.
- 1:18:12Well, you know I'm not a fan of either real either team so but
- 1:18:17you probably have a little more love for Tennessee because of
- 1:18:19Peyton. All right, all right, Brian.
- 1:18:21Imagine this is 25 years ago. Syracuse versus Rutgers 25 years
- 1:18:27ago. If I told you Rutgers was the
- 1:18:29favorite, when we were kids, you'd be like, nah, hey, he's a
- 1:18:34football team here. Cuse - she'd be Rutgers - two
- 1:18:39and a half. We're Syracuse, who Syracuse
- 1:18:43Roots both last week blowing out of Ohio.
- 1:18:47Yeah that that that came out of nowhere and that's probably the
- 1:18:50reason the line is what it is. Because you know if I if this
- 1:18:54was a week one game I just said that line is way too low.
- 1:18:58Yes, I would have given Rutgers, at least five and a half or six.
- 1:19:03Yes, don't know what I know now. I still think Rutgers covers.
- 1:19:09Yeah, and I'm quickly on that one, I think Rutgers covers to,
- 1:19:13you know, Rutgers last week, you know, blew out Temple and it's
- 1:19:19not your day simple. But I think Temple slipping back
- 1:19:22to what they, you know, essentially were again.
- 1:19:24But again, Greg Schiano at Rutgers means they're going to
- 1:19:28win games. That they should not going to be
- 1:19:31a lot of them, but they still went where they should.
- 1:19:35All right, Brian, did you see the Unbelievable comeback last
- 1:19:40week down in Starkville. Yeah.
- 1:19:46Now this way it's going to be a little bit different for the
- 1:19:49pirate. Mike Leach as Dave during the NC
- 1:19:53State Wolfpack head down to Starkville to take on the
- 1:19:57Mississippi State. Bulldogs NC State this week,
- 1:20:01maybe a shock, or maybe not a shocker, guess depends on who
- 1:20:04you are. Mississippi State on the road as
- 1:20:07a road babe. Favorite.
- 1:20:15This is this was probably the toughest.
- 1:20:18Game. All we got had to pick because
- 1:20:22you know, leech can score but usually he doesn't have good
- 1:20:25defense. Has it showed last week against
- 1:20:27a lot of tech with them jumping up and then I watch the south
- 1:20:31Florida game which I was completely wrong about And I'm
- 1:20:35sitting here, I'm going back and forth and I think what's going
- 1:20:38to happen with this game as will be similar to what happened last
- 1:20:41week. I think NC State's going to get
- 1:20:43up and I think Mississippi state's going to be able to
- 1:20:47fight back, but I think playing a superior talented defense.
- 1:20:51Unlike La Tech I think they hold them off in the end.
- 1:20:56I think this game ends up the over-under line.
- 1:21:00Is it pull it up real quick. Is 55 and a half.
- 1:21:03I think it probably. Goes over the ANC State wins
- 1:21:06this game, like 3127. Late like you know, with the 30
- 1:21:14seconds left Mississippi State scores.
- 1:21:15A touchdown to cut it but don't get the onside kick.
- 1:21:19So give me n c-- state in this one.
- 1:21:23Yeah, I mean we're bordering on a pic I'm here I like NC State.
- 1:21:27I like NC State is probably the Maybe the third-best ACC team
- 1:21:33after week after week one, they showed up.
- 1:21:37I mean I know there's gold up against what is lesser
- 1:21:40competition but they did really should do.
- 1:21:42There was us through school from Atlanta that didn't do that.
- 1:21:46So that will for now remain nameless actually that's see
- 1:21:54that's officially been put on Death Watch so that He's pretty
- 1:22:01quick, went from, hey, this could be a great win team.
- 1:22:05Hey, we might be firing our Coachman season.
- 1:22:08That was a pretty, it was a pretty quick and Swift turn
- 1:22:10around there. But anyway, that's, that's not,
- 1:22:13that's not what we're talking about.
- 1:22:16Make your pick, but I want to ask you a question after that.
- 1:22:18Yep. All right, it's NC State.
- 1:22:21Okay. Brian, goes in Sea state to
- 1:22:24Georgia Tech. They have to give that man more
- 1:22:26time. The guy was coming out of
- 1:22:28running a freaking flexbone off. I mean that mean, I don't know
- 1:22:33if he's a good coach or not because when you don't have the
- 1:22:36players in the way Johnson recruits, it literally takes.
- 1:22:39People are like, where your three could do it reality.
- 1:22:42It's probably here, for 25 before he actually can do
- 1:22:46something. Sure Curtis, but you shouldn't
- 1:22:48lose that game. Regardless of the challenge you
- 1:22:51say, oh, so you're doing a principle.
- 1:22:54The president was just don't lose that game.
- 1:22:57Exactly. Okay.
- 1:23:00All right, well, let's roll long.
- 1:23:01They don't, they don't need talent designed for their
- 1:23:04offense to win that game. Okay, fire.
- 1:23:10All right, absent-minded down in Miami, Miami, a nine-point
- 1:23:16favorite at State coming off of to score whenever you see you.
- 1:23:23I think Miami plays focused after what looked like almost
- 1:23:27zero plan against Alabama. Yeah, again, I said how high was
- 1:23:33on Miami to start the season they didn't instill confidence
- 1:23:36in my assessment. They're weak one.
- 1:23:40I think this is a big bounce back for them against what is a
- 1:23:43quality G5 opponent? So I think they cover the nun.
- 1:23:49You think they fully cover the nine?
- 1:23:54I think appstate back doors opening becomes out focused but
- 1:24:00I think AB State can get it down.
- 1:24:03If it was 10 I feel a heck of a lot better but I think they can
- 1:24:06get it down to low as non late in the game kind of what he see.
- 1:24:09You did to them last week you know I'm trying to think they
- 1:24:15played a couple of years ago by the way.
- 1:24:18Shout out my buddy at work Malik AB State Alum, you know.
- 1:24:25Hold on, let me get up this one because this one's gonna bother
- 1:24:27me. Where is it?
- 1:24:31Okay, whatever. But give me AB State.
- 1:24:35Okay. Cover back door.
- 1:24:36I think it is. You know your own on this one is
- 1:24:4154. I feel like that's a little low.
- 1:24:45Yeah, yeah I mean I think Miami is at least going to clip 35 in
- 1:24:49this one and I think AB States going to be kind of right there.
- 1:24:52I just think it's about a 10 point.
- 1:24:54Yeah. 10 point gap there exactly.
- 1:24:58All right, let's roll on. On one of the big matchups of
- 1:25:00the week top 10 matchup Iowa, State versus Iowa.
- 1:25:05Iowa coming off an absolute drubbing of Indiana.
- 1:25:10The one I got right against you last week, mr.
- 1:25:13Siegel, yeah, we had what I think. 33 differences.
- 1:25:17And I was, I was three or four differences and I are different.
- 1:25:22I swept them, except for that one separate us from you three
- 1:25:26out of four for you in. State look like hot garbage in
- 1:25:31against Northern Iowa. And when the game like 13-7 and
- 1:25:36you know, it's a really big game for Iowa because Iowa looks
- 1:25:43legit on both sides of the ball this year.
- 1:25:46I expected more fight out of Indiana.
- 1:25:48Last week games in Iowa City. Not at kinnick. so man, it's a
- 1:26:01four and a half point line, I think I'm gonna go Iowa I think
- 1:26:10getting four and a half is enough for me, even if I'm not
- 1:26:14sure he's gonna win this game outright.
- 1:26:16I think four and a half enough for me knowing how both of these
- 1:26:19coaches coach, this is going to come down to legitimately a
- 1:26:22field goal. And I'd rather be taking Iowa
- 1:26:27with the points then laying them.
- 1:26:29Okay? Okay.
- 1:26:33I tell you, can I tell you a fun fact about Ames Iowa before.
- 1:26:38Apparently, they have the cleanest water in the country.
- 1:26:42He was drinking water clean. This drinking water in the
- 1:26:45country. Okay, I know what that's not
- 1:26:47going to fucking help them because I was going to beat that
- 1:26:49ass. Oh, I will big Iowa outright
- 1:26:57Iowa out route. He takes the points.
- 1:26:59He says Iowans out, right. Is it a fight?
- 1:27:03Or is it a? I think it's close, but I don't
- 1:27:06think it's necessarily down to the last whistle.
- 1:27:10Okay. So we put that on there.
- 1:27:14All right, we roll on and we roll onto a new look, Texas,
- 1:27:18team Brian last week who really against an experience lose.
- 1:27:23The in Lafayette Squad down in Austin.
- 1:27:26Really handled them? I think that shocked me and you
- 1:27:31Steve sarkisian looks like he's got those kids actually playing
- 1:27:34hard playing focused. Something seems like Herman only
- 1:27:37could do every other game. Yep.
- 1:27:39Now they're playing Arkansas. With only a six and a half
- 1:27:45Point. Favorite, you know, Arkansas
- 1:27:48last week. you know, coming off a win against rice 3817, you
- 1:27:55know the game is It'll, you know, at Arkansas?
- 1:28:02What do you think about this one?
- 1:28:04Because if, you know, It is SEC talent that prevalent because
- 1:28:12here's a future SEC West game right here.
- 1:28:16It's true man. And you know for me I like what
- 1:28:21I saw from this new Texas. I'm not I'm not saying Texas is
- 1:28:26back but I'm saying, Texas can handle a middle tier SEC school
- 1:28:30so give me texts give you texts and there's that.
- 1:28:34Yeah, that seven or eight eight pointer, they just covering the
- 1:28:37corner. Okay.
- 1:28:39Um, I'm with you on it, too. I think sark's kind of got them
- 1:28:45going. I think, I think it's who they
- 1:28:47beat last week. I think that's going to be one
- 1:28:49of those games where he can, it can be built upon.
- 1:28:53I know some people are like, well, it's a G5 ag5.
- 1:28:56Who was ten wins last year? It's one of those momentum.
- 1:29:01Like you just need a very experienced team, who plays
- 1:29:03sound football now, you're going to a rebuilding program with
- 1:29:07saying, Pittman over at Arkansas.
- 1:29:10So I am absolutely with you on this.
- 1:29:12Give me Texas, I think it should be about more than six and a
- 1:29:15half. I think this is two possibly
- 1:29:19three score game. Okay.
- 1:29:21All right. Um I hate early in the season
- 1:29:27when they already set games up, Because Washington Michigan
- 1:29:33should not should not be a night game, especially with Washington
- 1:29:40coming off of a loss to Montana. Yeah, no, disrespect to Montana.
- 1:29:45This should not be the ABC night game.
- 1:29:48Now, with that being said, Michigan's is 7 point favorite.
- 1:29:55It's going to be in the big house.
- 1:29:58And I know Washington has talent.
- 1:30:01I think I feel Jimmy lake is a really good head coach, but the
- 1:30:06question is, will the with a Montana game?
- 1:30:13Beat them twice because you were at home, you scored seven
- 1:30:19points. You scored seven points against
- 1:30:23Montana? Yep, you know that that's the
- 1:30:27surprising thing, not that they got upset that they got upset
- 1:30:32pulling seven points. Seven points, throwing three
- 1:30:36picks giving up, multiple sacks, you know, in as much as it sucks
- 1:30:45for how are they losing Ronnie Bell?
- 1:30:49I think missions going to win this one.
- 1:30:50I think Washington, you know, said to have a new quarterback
- 1:30:56and come in and, you know, go to the big house and a binge or
- 1:31:00bounce back after losing a bad game.
- 1:31:03I'm taking Michigan in this one. I'm right there with you bud.
- 1:31:09Michigan look, good out. The gate.
- 1:31:11Washington did not. I think Washington does have a
- 1:31:13little bit of a bounce back with some more Focus this week but I
- 1:31:16think Michigan just across the board more Talent.
- 1:31:19It was probably going to be close to a seven-point line
- 1:31:24before what happened last week and I think it's probably about
- 1:31:29a 10 point Michigan win here. All right.
- 1:31:34Probably a game Saturday night Braun that we will be watching
- 1:31:39as we are recording our and going live for the results show.
- 1:31:47After the Hokies game Stanford, USC Stanford loss.
- 1:31:52Last week, they look bad against Kansas State.
- 1:31:54USC wins, USC, 17 and a half Point favorites on this one.
- 1:32:01Braun, that is a huge line in a Yes, number that is a, that is a
- 1:32:07massive number. You know, USC last week.
- 1:32:12They got the opening win and, you know, all in all San Jose
- 1:32:17State, you know, has become a decent G5 school out west, they
- 1:32:24beat them by 23. They never really, you know,
- 1:32:29never really in question, they led the whole way closest that
- 1:32:35San Jose State got was six. And after that, you have see,
- 1:32:38sort of laid the hammer down in the fourth quarter.
- 1:32:43The line is 17 and a half. Okay?
- 1:32:48I am going to take Stanford because that line is too big for
- 1:32:54this early in the season. I feel like Stanford probably
- 1:32:56came out the gate, a little little off.
- 1:32:59You would see at a good one. I feel like just stakes in this
- 1:33:02game are pretty high. Stanford keeps it close still
- 1:33:06probably a two score game, but I don't think it gets to 17.
- 1:33:09Yeah, I'm with you. Um Stanford also with playing
- 1:33:13Kansas State who has the old North Dakota State head coach
- 1:33:16that guy. It seems like a real.
- 1:33:18Season always can game plan really good against teams.
- 1:33:23You know, some got Justin Fuente knows how to do it.
- 1:33:27Some guys, just know, when given the time, how to prepare for
- 1:33:31whoever they're playing and put their team in the right
- 1:33:33positions, 17 and a half is too much.
- 1:33:38It's just, it's just way too much.
- 1:33:41If USC, maybe blows the doors off San Jose State last week.
- 1:33:45You know, like a 50 to 7 win. Maybe I'm talking a little
- 1:33:48different and saying, okay, this is going to happen, but I just
- 1:33:51can't foresee that happening. And laying that many points.
- 1:33:56Oh yeah, give me. Give me Stanford as well.
- 1:33:59All right, Braun biggest game this weekend is going to be
- 1:34:03Oregon. Oh hi.
- 1:34:05Oh State. Organs coming in number 12 of
- 1:34:10hiyo state. Number three, this is in the
- 1:34:13Horseshoe High new Google the shoe High Noon cook-off.
- 1:34:19And it's pretty crazy with the line is I'm still waiting on
- 1:34:23Kevin on thibodeau's Port. Do stud defensive end out of
- 1:34:28organ? They sent he's likely going to
- 1:34:32play the foot. The foot was just is what it was
- 1:34:38fourteen and a half. I think I got to take organ.
- 1:34:45You take an organ. I think I'm taking organ.
- 1:34:47I think I'm taking Oregon because we did see.
- 1:34:51We saw house tape on the road against and okay, offense in
- 1:34:58Minnesota in that okay often, it's was able to open up some
- 1:35:02holes in to get some points on. Minnesota's defense now, so much
- 1:35:11since Lee. Once they threw out a few things
- 1:35:13here and there they figured it out with the Freshman, but I
- 1:35:16think 14 and a half is way too much delay.
- 1:35:20I think organs can be able to run, I don't think or you can
- 1:35:22win outright. If Thibodeau plays it leans more
- 1:35:27that they could win outright but it's just too many points
- 1:35:31whether it's at the Horseshoe or not.
- 1:35:35Yeah, I'm actually right there with you man.
- 1:35:37I know we're agreeing a lot here, but that is what it is,
- 1:35:39man. Oregon.
- 1:35:43I think does just enough to keep it under two scores.
- 1:35:48As you said, I think they're able to run the ball effectively
- 1:35:51most of the night and I think Ohio state is still going to
- 1:35:56have those moments where they have this handful of drives or
- 1:35:59they just don't get it done. Yeah, they're going to probably
- 1:36:03bring it on late and I think it's going to be a kind of a
- 1:36:06tight contest into the fourth quarter.
- 1:36:09The question is going to be how much does Ohio State Or it on
- 1:36:13once they kind of wear down Oregon.
- 1:36:14Is it going to be a touch or two?
- 1:36:17Or is it going to be something more than that?
- 1:36:20Yeah. Well I don't think it's going to
- 1:36:21be that. I mean again I think it
- 1:36:22Thibodeau plays and Oregon can have that defensive pass rush.
- 1:36:27I think you can swing borgen's way but you know we'll have to
- 1:36:31see that on Saturday afternoon. Yes.
- 1:36:36I blend is anything in the last hour and 38 minutes broke.
- 1:36:41Nothing of note, dude. Nothing of note.
