- 0:00Speaker 1: This is Kiss Breakfast.
- 0:02Speaker 2: All right, Amy's got to hit a celeb news filling
- 0:04Speaker 2: in for Nat today. Yeah, I do.
- 0:06Speaker 1: What do you got?
- 0:07Speaker 3: All right, so the 2026 Creative Arts Emmy Awards were
- 0:10Speaker 3: handed out over the weekend in the U.S.
- 0:12Speaker 1: The hell are they? So think of these as like
- 0:15Speaker 1: your micro Emmy Awards. Okay.
- 0:19Speaker 3: So obviously the big dog Emmy Awards, that's on the
- 0:22Speaker 3: 14th of September. Right. And that obviously honours top tier acting, directing, series, categories,
- 0:28Speaker 3: all of the hoo-ha.
- 0:29Speaker 1: This is like runner's up.
- 0:30Speaker 3: These are kind of like, these are a bit more creative,
- 0:33Speaker 3: like maybe like the behind the scenes people. Oh, okay.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Things like that.
- 0:36Speaker 3: So some of the big winners of the night are,
- 0:39Speaker 3: Bad Bunny's Super Bowl halftime performance for outstanding choreography.
- 0:45Speaker 2: And that was controversial at the time because all the
- 0:47Speaker 2: Trump fans were against it because he was singing in Spanish.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Which is just... Why is that bad?
- 0:52Speaker 2: Because they're racist.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Okay, yep. But I think this is really nice.
- 0:56Speaker 3: It's actually like tipping the hat to the people because,
- 0:59Speaker 3: you know, the dancers are working so hard behind the scenes.
- 1:03Speaker 3: Choreographers are putting in such long hours and they often.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Never really get any credit, obviously.
- 1:08Speaker 2: So they got a token award.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Good, yeah. Yep. Sabrina Carpenter actually won her first Primetime
- 1:14Speaker 3: Emmy Award for her work on The Muppet Show. Okay.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Special on Disney +. She was the EP there.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:21Speaker 1: As well as a performer. Okay, yeah.
- 1:23Speaker 3: Julie Andrew won Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance for for her
- 1:28Speaker 3: role in Bridgerton. Oh, yeah.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Did you ever watch Bridgerton? No, it's a chick thing,
- 1:32Speaker 1: isn't it? Oh, I love Bridgerton.
- 1:33Speaker 3: I bet you do. Yeah. And Apple TV's horror comedy
- 1:37Speaker 3: series Widow's Bay won the most awards at the 2026
- 1:42Speaker 3: Creative Arts Emmy Awards.
- 1:43Speaker 1: They took home eight. Well, well done to them.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Haven't seen it. Have you got the Apple TV going?
- 1:48Speaker 2: So I've got Netflix, HBO, Foxtel.
- 1:50Speaker 1: I love Apple TV.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Something else.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Yeah, you got the Apple? I love Apple TV.
- 1:55Speaker 3: One of my favorite shows ever called Shrinking is on
- 1:58Speaker 3: Apple TV.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Is that about a guy's appendage?
- 2:00Speaker 3: No.
- 2:02Speaker 1: No, it's got Woody Harrelson. Harrison. Harrison Ford.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Oh, Harrison Ford.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Yeah, Woody Harrelson. Wow.
- 2:09Speaker 3: Harrison Ford in it, he is the shrink in it
- 2:12Speaker 3: and he is sensational.
- 2:14Speaker 2: It's about psychology.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Yeah. Speaking of famous actors, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon,
- 2:20Speaker 3: two massive Hollywood actors. So obviously they've done a few
- 2:24Speaker 3: movies together, Good Will Hunting, Jersey Girl.
- 2:27Speaker 1: They have a new one that came out at the
- 2:28Speaker 1: start of this year called The Rip.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 2:31Speaker 1: I would say that because I love these two actors.
- 2:33Speaker 1: I love them together especially.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Well, they're best mates, aren't they?
- 2:35Speaker 3: Yeah, and I didn't realise this, but they're actually lifelong
- 2:39Speaker 3: childhood friends. They literally grew up blocks apart to the
- 2:43Speaker 3: point that before even achieving their fame, their bond was
- 2:46Speaker 3: so tight, they shared a joint bank account to help
- 2:50Speaker 3: pay for like audition trips.
- 2:52Speaker 1: And bills and whatnot.
- 2:53Speaker 4: Gotcha.
- 2:54Speaker 3: I mean, my best friend of all time, I met
- 2:58Speaker 3: her when I was 14. I still don't have a
- 3:00Speaker 3: joint bank account with her.
- 3:01Speaker 1: But anyway, I digress.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Ben and Matt were asked in a recent interview what
- 3:05Speaker 3: they think is the biggest mistake actors make during auditions.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Have a listen to what they said.
- 3:11Speaker 4: People not being off book.
- 3:12Speaker 2: What does that mean?
- 3:13Speaker 3: I mean, people reading.
- 3:14Speaker 4: They haven't memorized the scene and they're just reading versus
- 3:18Speaker 4: the actors who come in. And they've got the scene
- 3:22Speaker 4: completely dialed and they're trying different things in different takes.
- 3:26Speaker 4: And they're really locked in and listening to the person
- 3:29Speaker 4: that they're in the scene with.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Just there's nothing. I've never seen anyone get a job
- 3:32Speaker 3: like that. Right.
- 3:35Speaker 2: So you got an audition. And instead of me going,
- 3:38Speaker 2: the 2026 Creative Arts Emmy Awards were handed out over
- 3:41Speaker 2: this weekend.
- 3:42Speaker 1: In the U.S., You're acting it out.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Yeah, you actually memorise it.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Which I would have assumed everyone would have done. Like
- 3:49Speaker 3: if you are going for an acting role, surely you're
- 3:53Speaker 3: learning the lines and acting. I agree.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Isn't that how you're like leading with your best foot?
- 3:58Speaker 1: It's like an interview, right?
- 4:00Speaker 2: Well, like a job interview. I've been in radio bloody
- 4:03Speaker 2: so long now. I've never really done job interviews. What
- 4:06Speaker 2: are you like with them? I know you got into
- 4:07Speaker 2: radio later.
- 4:08Speaker 3: Well, every job interview I have gone for, I've gotten
- 4:12Speaker 3: the job. I think you have to be– you don't
- 4:15Speaker 3: have to be super, super intelligent. You have to have–
- 4:18Speaker 3: people skills. You have to be able to hold a
- 4:22Speaker 3: conversation to be able to speak somewhat eloquently.
- 4:27Speaker 2: So are you a personality hire then? You're terrible, but
- 4:30Speaker 2: they're like, oh, she's great at talking.
- 4:32Speaker 1: I will never forget this one job.
- 4:34Speaker 3: I was filling in for a maternity cover and it
- 4:38Speaker 3: was a paralegal role. And I'd just come out of
- 4:40Speaker 3: doing advertising, which was super fun.
- 4:43Speaker 1: I worked on a.
- 4:45Speaker 3: Big lovesack cushion, and I worked on a laptop, and
- 4:47Speaker 3: you could ride roller skates around the office. And then
- 4:50Speaker 3: I went from that into corporate, into legal. However, I
- 4:54Speaker 3: got paid twice as much, so YOLO. But I remember
- 4:57Speaker 3: doing this maternity cover, and after six months, my boss
- 5:01Speaker 3: at the time, Jason, said to me, hey, listen– So
- 5:04Speaker 3: the work is okay, but the energy and just having
- 5:09Speaker 3: your presence in the office is what this company needs.
- 5:12Speaker 3: And it really picks up the morale and everything. So
- 5:16Speaker 3: you've got the job.
- 5:17Speaker 2: So literally personality hire.
- 5:19Speaker 3: It was 1 million percent the most backhanded compliment I've ever,
- 5:22Speaker 3: like you're shit at your job, but like you're great fun.
- 5:25Speaker 1: So you're hired.
- 5:26Speaker 2: And that's what we're thinking here at Kiss as well.
