- 0:38Speaker 1: Talk that doesn't sound creepy or weird.
- 0:44Speaker 2: You got a squeaky toy.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Stay out my lawn.
- 0:46Speaker 4: I think I just have to stay low and you know,
- 0:48Speaker 4: do it this way. Actually got a text from from
- 0:50Speaker 4: mister Paul Parillo from UNC. Paul's down there. I think
- 0:52Speaker 4: he's doing a little advanced scouting. You know, he's beating
- 0:55Speaker 4: the bushes, talking to the cop coaches.
- 0:56Speaker 5: That's my slap, all right, like stay in your line
- 0:59Speaker 5: than talk about And of course we didn't. We didn't
- 1:03Speaker 5: officially hear from Fred, but we saw just a picture
- 1:06Speaker 5: tropics unknown.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Fred, Uh, I wonder if he noticed, like his toes
- 1:10Speaker 3: are in the bottom of it for all, like the
- 1:12Speaker 3: slack he gets about feet and stuff like.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Wing you know, successive. How much you girls drink water?
- 1:20Speaker 1: She goes to the bathroom like ten times a day.
- 1:22Speaker 1: How do you exist?
- 1:24Speaker 6: Christmas? I'm just like I didn't even have a good Tamara's.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Birthday is Patriot's Unfiltered.
- 1:30Speaker 7: Presented by Toyota's official website.
- 1:33Speaker 3: For deals, buy a Toyota dot com.
- 1:37Speaker 1: All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here
- 1:42Speaker 1: at Chollett's Stadium. We got a big show planned for you.
- 1:46Speaker 1: It's Paul, it's Alex and her hair. It's me later
- 1:50Speaker 1: on in the show.
- 1:51Speaker 8: Yeah, you guys tell me, I don't know.
- 1:53Speaker 6: You look tremendous.
- 1:54Speaker 8: Thank you.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Later on, little more hair, a little more tan.
- 1:58Speaker 6: Yeah, I did get a haircut.
- 2:00Speaker 8: Nice. You guys both looked him too, gees.
- 2:02Speaker 6: Yeah, more of a burn from me and Fred.
- 2:06Speaker 1: I'm trying to set up the show if you don't mind.
- 2:08Speaker 1: But later on in the show we'll have Deuce and
- 2:11Speaker 1: Evan live from the combine, so that's cool. And then
- 2:15Speaker 1: halftime of the show will be running an exclusive interview
- 2:19Speaker 1: that we had with Elliott Wolf. I know he did
- 2:21Speaker 1: a press conference today. We'll talk about that, but we
- 2:24Speaker 1: also had a chance to sit down with him one
- 2:27Speaker 1: on one, so we'll run that during the break. So
- 2:30Speaker 1: it's a big show. Penn State, Paul's here, Alex myself,
- 2:35Speaker 1: I'm back from vacation. What was wrong with my Tamara
- 2:40Speaker 1: told me it was a boomerang?
- 2:42Speaker 3: So apparently gen Z thinks boomerangs are out. You're a
- 2:47Speaker 3: millennial or older if you still use boomerang.
- 2:49Speaker 1: It just said I had an option to do a gift,
- 2:51Speaker 1: so I did a gift.
- 2:52Speaker 8: I thought it was cool.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Did you notice your your little toes at the bottom.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Were supposed to have that? Yeah?
- 2:58Speaker 3: Right, yeah, Hey, I thought it was fine.
- 3:00Speaker 6: What's a boomerang?
- 3:02Speaker 1: It's when you, I guess, when you do a gift
- 3:03Speaker 1: and it kind of loops.
- 3:05Speaker 9: Oh that's a boomerang. Okay, And why did I have
- 3:08Speaker 9: to sit over here? I'm all out of sorts. First
- 3:09Speaker 9: of all, dou just didn't come and get me before
- 3:11Speaker 9: the show.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Yes, that threw me off, because no, because I figured,
- 3:15Speaker 1: I know it's just the three of us. I can
- 3:17Speaker 1: look right at you.
- 3:18Speaker 8: Oh okay, you guys are on like a little dinner date.
- 3:20Speaker 9: Yeah, it's there because that I'm like, I'm like normal
- 3:22Speaker 9: on cheers, I sit there.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Well, it's you know, what do I do?
- 3:25Speaker 6: I sit there?
- 3:25Speaker 1: It's you know, TV, like we got the triangle going.
- 3:27Speaker 6: Okay, yeah, all.
- 3:28Speaker 8: Right, Yeah, I was worried about you trying.
- 3:31Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 3:31Speaker 6: I got a text from Morell like what do you
- 3:33Speaker 6: want for lunch? And I was like, oh yeah, it's.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Sent out a search party.
- 3:38Speaker 2: I don't worry.
- 3:39Speaker 6: I didn't miss my lunch order.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Freddy, Okay, all right, So we got a lot to
- 3:42Speaker 1: talk about. I guess top of the show was Elliott Wolf. Right, Yeah,
- 3:48Speaker 1: this is new for the Patriots to actually have someone talk.
- 3:51Speaker 6: I think it's the first time since fourteen.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Since fourteen, we actually had somebody talk at the combine
- 3:57Speaker 1: and Elliott Wolf was up and for all intents and purposes,
- 4:02Speaker 1: he's looking like the GM of the team in terms
- 4:05Speaker 1: of just you know, having the say on personnelity. Yes,
- 4:10Speaker 1: he says it's going to be a collaborative process. I
- 4:12Speaker 1: believe that to be true. But at the end of
- 4:13Speaker 1: the day, he said, somebody's going to make the pick,
- 4:15Speaker 1: and that will be me in no uncertain terms. So
- 4:19Speaker 1: there you go wild? What do you think, Paul?
- 4:24Speaker 9: I actually thought the press conference offered some interesting tidbits, okay,
- 4:30Speaker 9: and I felt like he was he seemed pretty comfortable.
- 4:34Speaker 9: I like the way he spoke. There were some things
- 4:36Speaker 9: I didn't like, but I was more focusing on the
- 4:38Speaker 9: things I did talking about wanting to weaponize the offense,
- 4:42Speaker 9: the need to weaponize the offense, which is obvious, but
- 4:45Speaker 9: still nice to hear that there's a recognition. And then
- 4:49Speaker 9: there were like a bunch of things that sort of like,
- 4:52Speaker 9: you know, aligned with my thoughts. So automatically, right, right,
- 4:56Speaker 9: so automatically when someone like someone agrees with you, you tell,
- 5:00Speaker 9: you know what, that guy, he's sharp, he knows what
- 5:02Speaker 9: he's talking about. Where do you say most of the
- 5:04Speaker 9: most of the starting quarterbacks come from Freddie Did you listen?
- 5:07Speaker 1: Top of the first? First round? Yeah? First round?
- 5:09Speaker 9: Yeah, you can do it the other way as he
- 5:11Speaker 9: and he said, he goes you know, Dak Prescott, brock Purdy.
- 5:14Speaker 9: He named a couple of exceptions, but most of the
- 5:17Speaker 9: quarterbacks in the league are first round picks, which tells me,
- 5:21Speaker 9: reading between the lines, they are strongly interested in a quarterback.
- 5:25Speaker 9: He admitted that they will have plans to talk to
- 5:27Speaker 9: all three.
- 5:28Speaker 1: Or unless he's creating the fog of war and he
- 5:31Speaker 1: wants people to think that were.
- 5:32Speaker 6: No, I don't look at it that way at all.
- 5:35Speaker 1: He learned from the best. His father was very good.
- 5:38Speaker 6: At that, was he.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Yeah, can you give me any miss him for no.
- 5:41Speaker 1: I remember back in the day when Parcels, you know,
- 5:45Speaker 1: he had a good relationship with Ron Wolf, and.
- 5:48Speaker 9: He actually told a story about being at the Combine
- 5:50Speaker 9: when he was ten years old. Yeah, and sitting standing
- 5:54Speaker 9: at the forty with Ron Wolf, Bill Parcells and Hal Davis.
- 5:58Speaker 6: Yeah, and not bad when you're and I don't.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Know if it was him or it was said during Parcels,
- 6:03Speaker 1: but like Ron was a master of you know, deception.
- 6:07Speaker 9: Yeah, I'm going to take him at face value. I mean,
- 6:10Speaker 9: we can go and just say.
- 6:11Speaker 6: They're all lie. I don't think they all lie, but
- 6:14Speaker 6: I think that some.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Of this lie. That's a lie if it's a football If.
- 6:17Speaker 6: He doesn't think you need a quarterback in the first round,
- 6:19Speaker 6: and that's a lie.
- 6:20Speaker 1: It's a football thing.
- 6:21Speaker 9: So I think that that was something I found interesting.
- 6:26Speaker 9: One of the things I didn't like was, you know,
- 6:28Speaker 9: yet another shot at the previous regime like, you know,
- 6:31Speaker 9: less of a herd ass vibe in the building. I
- 6:34Speaker 9: just don't understand why we have to continue to beat
- 6:37Speaker 9: the crap out of a regime that brought us six
- 6:39Speaker 9: super Bowl titles and nothing but a you know, success
- 6:43Speaker 9: for twenty plus years, but we continue at every opportunity
- 6:46Speaker 9: to take a shot at that.
- 6:47Speaker 6: I didn't like that.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Yeah, it's weird because it's like, that's the person that
- 6:51Speaker 3: this person hired you. This person gave you an opportunity,
- 6:53Speaker 3: and I mean, I don't know.
- 6:56Speaker 8: It doesn't sit well with me, but I'm soft.
- 6:58Speaker 6: Yeah, but I was more.
- 7:01Speaker 9: There were a lot more things that I did like,
- 7:03Speaker 9: and I'll focus on those as opposed to the negative thread.
- 7:06Speaker 9: I madz talk about the negative.
- 7:08Speaker 1: But I thought it was interesting that he's coming out
- 7:13Speaker 1: and saying things like that, which tells me that it
- 7:16Speaker 1: was maybe more of a deal than we thought it was.
- 7:18Speaker 3: Well, it was really interesting too that those comments were
- 7:20Speaker 3: made coupled with yeah, we have a.
- 7:22Speaker 8: New mentality going into this draft.
- 7:24Speaker 3: It's less going to be fit and more just like
- 7:27Speaker 3: player skill, who's available.
- 7:29Speaker 9: Yeah, I thought that was interesting too. I saw I
- 7:30Speaker 9: haven't tweeted that out, so I jumped on it. And
- 7:35Speaker 9: I don't know exactly what that means because I don't
- 7:37Speaker 9: know enough about scouting.
- 7:38Speaker 1: If you don't know what your offense is going to
- 7:40Speaker 1: be yet, there's no fits.
- 7:42Speaker 6: No, But I think it would. I think it makes it.
- 7:45Speaker 9: The point was, it makes it easier for the scouts
- 7:48Speaker 9: to sort of just say, this guy's the best. I
- 7:51Speaker 9: think this is the example used. This guy's the best,
- 7:53Speaker 9: this guy's the worst, and will slot these guys in.
- 7:55Speaker 9: There's been as opposed to this guy is the best.
- 7:58Speaker 6: He's not a bit, you know.
- 8:01Speaker 3: It seems like that prototypical patriot, like they're really starting
- 8:04Speaker 3: over from that.
- 8:05Speaker 8: It's like there's not going to be that that model anymore.
- 8:08Speaker 6: I got the same oppression Alex did. Yeah, I don't
- 8:10Speaker 6: and I like that.
- 8:11Speaker 9: Yeah, And again I don't know what the ins and
- 8:13Speaker 9: outs are because I'm not a scout. I don't know
- 8:15Speaker 9: exactly what the grading system is, but.
- 8:16Speaker 1: I do think and listen, we're nitpicking here. I'm sure
- 8:21Speaker 1: they're smart enough to know you can't just take anybody.
- 8:24Speaker 1: You know, if you if you think you're going to
- 8:26Speaker 1: run a certain type of defense, you need certain type
- 8:29Speaker 1: of players that can you know whether it's control gaps
- 8:32Speaker 1: or you know, if that's the type of defense you're
- 8:34Speaker 1: going to do, or if you're you know, we're not
- 8:37Speaker 1: going to be But if you're going to be a
- 8:38Speaker 1: West Coast offense, you need guys who can fit in
- 8:41Speaker 1: that system. So I get what they're saying. I like
- 8:44Speaker 1: it too. You know, let's not overthink the draft, but
- 8:48Speaker 1: there has to be a mix of, you know, the
- 8:50Speaker 1: right guys, not just the best guys, for sure.
- 8:53Speaker 9: And there was I just thought he was I thought
- 8:58Speaker 9: he was conversational. I thought he was comfortable and no filibusters. Yeah,
- 9:05Speaker 9: you know, just kind of you know, get the question
- 9:08Speaker 9: answered it. He was asked a lot of questions about
- 9:10Speaker 9: green Bay, which I wasn't overly interested in. Yeah, I
- 9:13Speaker 9: can understand there's probably you know, don't forget the whole
- 9:16Speaker 9: league is there. So there were probably green Bay people
- 9:19Speaker 9: talking to him a little bit about that kind of stuff,
- 9:21Speaker 9: And there were probably some local guys asking him about
- 9:24Speaker 9: his principles in green Bay, you know, the Packer way
- 9:27Speaker 9: or whatever they yeah, how they refer to it, but.
- 9:31Speaker 1: I think they asked him. And I didn't actually watch
- 9:33Speaker 1: the press contra doing other things, but I you know,
- 9:36Speaker 1: saw some of the points that people were making. You know,
- 9:40Speaker 1: they asked, what kind of team will the Patriots be?
- 9:43Speaker 1: And you know, what's the philosophy? And he said, you know,
- 9:46Speaker 1: it's going to be more of like a development like
- 9:49Speaker 1: you know.
- 9:50Speaker 6: That was the other thing I loved.
- 9:51Speaker 9: Now, we want to focus on young players and develop
- 9:54Speaker 9: them within Yeah, which is very much a green Bay tenant. Yeah,
- 9:58Speaker 9: they're not a huge f agency team green Bay. They
- 10:01Speaker 9: never have been.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Well, some people would say because they're cheap, but you know,
- 10:05Speaker 1: or you know, they haven't had the cash that other
- 10:08Speaker 1: teams have.
- 10:10Speaker 6: Well, I think the first thing is probably more accurate.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Yeah, well, and that's why they're cheap.
- 10:15Speaker 9: Yeah, but I like that philosophy because I don't think
- 10:19Speaker 9: you can win doing it in free agency.
- 10:22Speaker 6: You can augment in free agency.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Now you must draft well in this league.
- 10:27Speaker 9: Well, draft whatever, but you need to keep your players
- 10:31Speaker 9: and you need to maintain your young core. They haven't
- 10:35Speaker 9: done a good Like for as bad as the draft
- 10:37Speaker 9: has been the last say, eight ten years, the decisions
- 10:43Speaker 9: to let the draft picks that have worked go, which
- 10:47Speaker 9: is kind of all of them lately, I think it's
- 10:49Speaker 9: been just as bad. Like that's how you lose your
- 10:52Speaker 9: your solid middle class that this team has always sort
- 10:55Speaker 9: of been built.
- 10:56Speaker 1: It could also be an indication that they didn't like
- 10:59Speaker 1: the picks that they made, and it's an admission of failure.
- 11:03Speaker 9: No I know, but like guys like Joe Tooney and
- 11:05Speaker 9: Shack mas so that and you know, Trey Flowers and like,
- 11:08Speaker 9: they had some good players that they get to their
- 11:11Speaker 9: contracts and if they got them, they didn't get to see.
- 11:14Speaker 6: The end of the second contract in Jack Mason.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, maybe just handle Toney.
- 11:19Speaker 9: Toney and and Flowers were allowed to just walk after
- 11:23Speaker 9: free agency.
- 11:23Speaker 6: And I think some of those some of those players
- 11:26Speaker 6: were valuable players.
- 11:28Speaker 9: Yeah, and that forces you to then overpay in free
- 11:30Speaker 9: agency to replace them and then when that doesn't work,
- 11:34Speaker 9: because we know that that's kind of a quick fix
- 11:37Speaker 9: and not really for the long term.
- 11:39Speaker 1: And get back to along those lines. He did say
- 11:42Speaker 1: that they've talked with on when you they've talked with
- 11:44Speaker 1: duggar uh in other news from what I read, uh
- 11:49Speaker 1: and when you fired his agent, Yeah, you said that,
- 11:51Speaker 1: and now he's repping himself, which isn't a good idea.
- 11:54Speaker 9: That's not a good idea for one you. But I
- 11:55Speaker 9: think it increases the odds that he comes back.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Yeah. So the you know, you always wonder like why
- 12:01Speaker 1: a player does that. It's usually the players getting frustrated that.
- 12:05Speaker 6: Especially now, Yeah, because this is a week that your
- 12:08Speaker 6: agent should be right.
- 12:10Speaker 3: Always wondered about that because you sign with these guys
- 12:13Speaker 3: like a lot of times when you're so young, like
- 12:15Speaker 3: he was probably twenty two when he signed his agency,
- 12:18Speaker 3: and at that point they're telling you all the right
- 12:19Speaker 3: things that you want to hear to sign with you.
- 12:22Speaker 3: But I don't know, working with agents just seems like, yeah,
- 12:26Speaker 3: well do.
- 12:26Speaker 6: You know what I mean?
- 12:26Speaker 9: Like your agent can be in Indie this week behind
- 12:30Speaker 9: the scenes, you know, tamper no, tamper right, you know
- 12:35Speaker 9: you can get away. He can't if he's going to
- 12:38Speaker 9: represent himself, he absolutely can't talk to another team. That's
- 12:41Speaker 9: going to be a blatant viola right, right, you know,
- 12:44Speaker 9: So you're losing a lot of information, yeah, or the
- 12:48Speaker 9: opportunity to gather information, I should say.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Yeah, So you know, odd timing. So you don't know
- 12:52Speaker 1: if he's upset with his agent because he's not getting
- 12:55Speaker 1: enough play from other teams, yeah, or if he just
- 12:58Speaker 1: wants to sign here in his a right.
- 13:00Speaker 9: Maybe he wants him to push for more, but he's
- 13:03Speaker 9: But even if he wanted to sign here, I don't
- 13:06Speaker 9: see why you get rid of an agent now. Maybe
- 13:08Speaker 9: he's getting rid of the agent already knowing he's signing
- 13:10Speaker 9: with someone else, and this is a move point.
- 13:12Speaker 6: You know, maybe he.
- 13:13Speaker 9: Already has another guy lined up, like Alex said, maybe
- 13:16Speaker 9: he had signed better and yeah, maybe he had some
- 13:19Speaker 9: guy that he knew when he was coming up through
- 13:21Speaker 9: high school or whatever, and out of loyalty he stuck
- 13:24Speaker 9: with him and realized.
- 13:25Speaker 6: He's not the best fit.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Or maybe Ellie has a guy in mind. Maybe somebody told, hey,
- 13:28Speaker 1: if you fire the agent, you keep that extra five
- 13:30Speaker 1: percent that you would have given to him.
- 13:32Speaker 11: Right.
- 13:33Speaker 9: Yeah, I just don't think it's a smart I agree
- 13:35Speaker 9: with you the way you started this whole thing. I
- 13:37Speaker 9: just don't think that generally works out.
- 13:39Speaker 1: It's not a good idea for well, you know, Bruski
- 13:42Speaker 1: over the years many years.
- 13:44Speaker 6: Left a lot of money on the table.
- 13:46Speaker 3: But Sherman I did n't care, you know, on that
- 13:48Speaker 3: pan out for him either way. It was cool to
- 13:50Speaker 3: see Elliott like sitting at the podium saying yes when
- 13:54Speaker 3: you is we consider him. What did he say, like
- 13:57Speaker 3: a corner corner, cornerstone of the franchise?
- 14:00Speaker 1: And I mean, I can't Is that overdoing it? Is
- 14:03Speaker 1: that overstating it? You think is he a corner?
- 14:05Speaker 8: Maybe?
- 14:05Speaker 3: But hey, if he's out there flattering him publicly like
- 14:08Speaker 3: that to try to.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Retain him, are So this is the kind of thing
- 14:11Speaker 1: that I'm talking about.
- 14:11Speaker 9: So they haven't had a lot of good draft picks
- 14:14Speaker 9: in the last three years, right, So a couple of
- 14:17Speaker 9: the ones that were pretty good are up right now.
- 14:20Speaker 9: And I'm not telling you you need to resign them all.
- 14:23Speaker 9: But if they don't sign any of them, I think
- 14:25Speaker 9: that'll be a bad sign.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Yeah, right, you know.
- 14:27Speaker 9: If if Oocha and Jennings and Dougger and when you
- 14:31Speaker 9: all leave all of them, I don't think that's a
- 14:34Speaker 9: good sign.
- 14:35Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 14:35Speaker 9: Now you can convince me, well you should do a
- 14:38Speaker 9: when you No, No, Dougger should be the prior. I
- 14:41Speaker 9: don't really care. I think it's the the broader picture
- 14:44Speaker 9: is you draft and develop and then maintain it.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Does it? Does it kind of stink that there is
- 14:51Speaker 1: no clear guys that you have to resign him? Is
- 14:54Speaker 1: that that stinks that there isn't somebody like that. Like,
- 14:58Speaker 1: for me, Barmore is guy. I know he's not up,
- 15:01Speaker 1: but right now they should be talking about extending him
- 15:04Speaker 1: right now.
- 15:05Speaker 9: Right But I think if they had a guy like that,
- 15:07Speaker 9: then you'd be more apt to not get to free
- 15:09Speaker 9: right in a perfect world. True, And so yes, I
- 15:13Speaker 9: agree with you. No, listen, we all know that they're
- 15:16Speaker 9: not loaded with young talent. Yeah, so he can say
- 15:20Speaker 9: we want to get young guys. You know, they don't
- 15:23Speaker 9: have a lot of it right now. They have some,
- 15:24Speaker 9: but not a lot.
- 15:26Speaker 1: But Elliott wolf does that make you feel good that
- 15:30Speaker 1: at least there's somebody saying, Okay, I'm the guy. Yeah, yeah,
- 15:36Speaker 1: it does. Someone needs to be in charge me too.
- 15:38Speaker 9: And I know, like someone on Twitter like, and I
- 15:40Speaker 9: put something out just sort of some bullet points of
- 15:42Speaker 9: what what Wolfe said, and someone was like, so nothing
- 15:45Speaker 9: has changed. And you know, I don't really go back
- 15:48Speaker 9: and forth all that much. But my feeling with that is,
- 15:51Speaker 9: what do you mean nothing's changed? I mean Belichick was
- 15:54Speaker 9: the guy who made those choices. Now he's gone. Someone
- 15:57Speaker 9: someone has to make a decision. Yeah, Like you say
- 16:00Speaker 9: the word collaborative to the point of a drinking game,
- 16:02Speaker 9: like I said a few weeks ago, that doesn't work.
- 16:05Speaker 9: When Alex wants Jayden Daniels and Fred wants Drake may
- 16:10Speaker 9: and Paul wants Caleb Williams, someone needs to be the
- 16:13Speaker 9: adult in the room and say, Okay, all due respect,
- 16:17Speaker 9: we're gonna go with Caleb.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Especially when you get past the first round. In the
- 16:21Speaker 1: first round, it's a little he's got to have consensus.
- 16:24Speaker 1: But when you get into third, fourth, fifth round, different
- 16:27Speaker 1: guys have their guys. Like I'm the area of Scout
- 16:30Speaker 1: for the Midwest. I've been looking at this guy all year,
- 16:33Speaker 1: maybe all his whole career, and I really like him.
- 16:36Speaker 1: And the guy in the South. You know, somebody has to,
- 16:41Speaker 1: you know, arbitrate that.
- 16:44Speaker 9: And you know, not that this is overly important to this,
- 16:47Speaker 9: but in the immediate aftermath of the change, when Mayo
- 16:51Speaker 9: was announced, and you know, there was a lot of talk,
- 16:53Speaker 9: you know, from that seth Wickersham story about how Jonathan
- 16:57Speaker 9: Craft and Robin Glazier were sort of part of foot
- 17:00Speaker 9: now and I think this alleviates I mean, I never
- 17:03Speaker 9: really took it literally in the first place, but some
- 17:06Speaker 9: people did, and I think this should alleviate some of
- 17:08Speaker 9: that fear of having quote unquote non football people involved
- 17:12Speaker 9: in the decision making process unless again, you know, unless
- 17:16Speaker 9: he's smoke screening you and right lying, which I don't
- 17:19Speaker 9: think he is. I think he was being upfront.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:22Speaker 3: Yeah, And it's also hard to say like, okay, so
- 17:24Speaker 3: nothing's changed just because yeah, all these people were already
- 17:27Speaker 3: here before a Bill Lift left. But if you've really
- 17:29Speaker 3: listened to anything Jirawed or mister Kraft or even like
- 17:34Speaker 3: in the coaching like Covington.
- 17:36Speaker 8: Availability, clearly these people.
- 17:38Speaker 3: Had ideas and were trying to make points and maybe
- 17:42Speaker 3: they didn't feel listened to. Maybe they felt like their
- 17:44Speaker 3: opinions were kind of overruled. In the end, now they
- 17:46Speaker 3: kind of have that freedom and not autonomy is probably
- 17:50Speaker 3: not a good word to use, but it's like it
- 17:53Speaker 3: feels like their opinions maybe they feel like they're trusted
- 17:55Speaker 3: a little more.
- 17:56Speaker 9: Yeah, there's no doubt. I think they feel like their
- 17:58Speaker 9: voices weren't heard times.
- 18:00Speaker 1: And the one thing it's kind of bothering me, but
- 18:04Speaker 1: everybody's saying, oh, they're going back to Pete Carroll days
- 18:10Speaker 1: that you know, we never really got to see what
- 18:13Speaker 1: Pete Carroll would have been had he been in charge
- 18:16Speaker 1: because he really wasn't fully in charge. Well that's the point.
- 18:19Speaker 1: That was the problem.
- 18:20Speaker 9: The people that are arguing is with the general manager
- 18:23Speaker 9: having the final say.
- 18:24Speaker 12: No.
- 18:24Speaker 1: But I know, but but people are but I'm talking
- 18:27Speaker 1: about the people are saying Pete Carroll in terms of
- 18:29Speaker 1: oh yeah, like you know, soft and feely, you know, so.
- 18:34Speaker 8: Far one way.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Now, Pete, I can tell you for a fact that
- 18:39Speaker 1: Pete ran a very competitive practice. Like he stressed competition
- 18:44Speaker 1: in practice. He you know, he wanted that, he wanted
- 18:47Speaker 1: guys going at each other. It wasn't like touchy feely.
- 18:51Speaker 3: No.
- 18:51Speaker 9: The problem that Pete had, I agree with you. It
- 18:54Speaker 9: wasn't because he was a weak coach or too much
- 18:57Speaker 9: of a player's coach. The problem was the players knew
- 19:01Speaker 9: that he didn't have final say, and they went behind
- 19:04Speaker 9: his back the old adage of they went up the
- 19:06Speaker 9: backstairs to Bobby Greer, right, or Robert Kraft, Which that's
- 19:11Speaker 9: another one I want to get to later. I don't
- 19:13Speaker 9: know if you saw some of the the aftermath of
- 19:16Speaker 9: the documentary.
- 19:17Speaker 6: I want to get to that. Talk about that, but
- 19:19Speaker 6: it's not not important.
- 19:19Speaker 1: Well we have a whole podcast about that.
- 19:21Speaker 6: But no, no, no, not about the documentary about something in
- 19:24Speaker 6: the aftermath.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Okay, but yeah, I mean that's true. It's it's and
- 19:28Speaker 1: they didn't just go to Bobby Grier back then, like
- 19:30Speaker 1: certain people like Bruce Armstrong and Robert went to Robert Kraft.
- 19:35Speaker 1: And that was a problem and it was too bad
- 19:38Speaker 1: for Pete because he never really got to run the team.
- 19:41Speaker 6: No, I agree with that.
- 19:42Speaker 9: I agree with that, But I think that if if
- 19:46Speaker 9: in that regard, You're probably right, people are fearing that
- 19:50Speaker 9: if now, if they don't like what Gerard Mao's doing,
- 19:52Speaker 9: they're going to go to Elliot Wolf.
- 19:53Speaker 1: Now could that happen? Yes, I hope it doesn't. There's
- 19:55Speaker 1: a fear of that, right right, or even again, Robert Kraft.
- 19:59Speaker 1: You know, I'm not sure who would be Like if MATC.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Jones was playing well, he would probably have the air
- 20:07Speaker 1: of Robert Kraft, But I don't think that's the case.
- 20:09Speaker 1: So I'm trying to think who would be the guys
- 20:11Speaker 1: that would go to the Crafts. I don't see any
- 20:15Speaker 1: right now. I think it's more Elliott in Girod. And
- 20:20Speaker 1: right now it's Girod's job to make sure that people
- 20:24Speaker 1: know I'm the guy, you know, don't talk to anybody
- 20:27Speaker 1: else about your playing time, you know. Yeah, yeah, that's
- 20:31Speaker 1: ideally how it works, right, So that's that's what we're
- 20:36Speaker 1: that's what's happening right now. It's Elliott Wolf time here
- 20:40Speaker 1: at one Patriot.
- 20:42Speaker 8: Place, little nugget.
- 20:44Speaker 3: I don't know if you guys saw this, but Kendrick
- 20:46Speaker 3: Bourne's agent posted on Instagram he was here the other day.
- 20:49Speaker 3: He posted the player's entrance to Gillett with the song
- 20:53Speaker 3: new Money by Migos like attached to it. So there's
- 20:55Speaker 3: a lot of speculation that a new contract was being
- 20:58Speaker 3: worked out for Kendrick. But then went on Instagram Live
- 21:01Speaker 3: and said he's testing free agency, but that doesn't mean
- 21:04Speaker 3: he's not going to come back.
- 21:06Speaker 9: So somewhere he's gonna get There was definitely mixed, yeah,
- 21:09Speaker 9: mix because I saw that and believe it or not,
- 21:11Speaker 9: I saw that, Wow, and then immediately it was like, no,
- 21:15Speaker 9: they haven't really even talked about any extensions, and I
- 21:18Speaker 9: saw Mike Grease had something about that.
- 21:20Speaker 6: Yeah, over the weekend.
- 21:21Speaker 3: It's just I like his agent, Henry. I've gotten to
- 21:24Speaker 3: know him at a couple events. But it's kind of
- 21:26Speaker 3: a wild move to pick that song to accompany the
- 21:30Speaker 3: photo of when you're coming off with yeah and the
- 21:34Speaker 3: song is New Money, like you know what you're doing well,
- 21:37Speaker 3: and that'll be interesting.
- 21:38Speaker 1: You know. It's kind of an aside, but what what
- 21:42Speaker 1: are Patriots players social media accounts going to look like now?
- 21:46Speaker 1: Because in the past it was always a fear like
- 21:48Speaker 1: if you go over the line too much, you're gonna
- 21:51Speaker 1: get called.
- 21:51Speaker 6: Didn't stop anybody last year?
- 21:54Speaker 1: Well, I think that a lot of things break down,
- 21:57Speaker 1: you know. I think a lot of things broke down,
- 22:00Speaker 1: and I think I think at some point Bilb was
- 22:03Speaker 1: just like I just think.
- 22:04Speaker 9: As the years have gone on, more and more of
- 22:06Speaker 9: the players that are coming into the league are coming
- 22:09Speaker 9: in like alex celebrities, and they're already like hair Yeah, Dan,
- 22:16Speaker 9: you can't just like stop ten twelve years worth of
- 22:20Speaker 9: doing it this way and then say, oh, I'm in
- 22:21Speaker 9: the NFL now and Bill Belichick doesn't allow that, Well,
- 22:24Speaker 9: you don't.
- 22:24Speaker 1: Work, yeah. Jacket and Aubert says green Bay may not
- 22:28Speaker 1: go heavily into free agency, but they do make significant signings.
- 22:31Speaker 1: For example, Charles Woodson, who was Defensive Player of the
- 22:34Speaker 1: Year while with Green Bay. Also Desmond Howard, so a
- 22:38Speaker 1: couple people back then.
- 22:39Speaker 9: But yeah, I think Desmond Howard qualifies, but Charles Woodson
- 22:42Speaker 9: certainly does. But yeah, that's that's that's what you want
- 22:45Speaker 9: to do, is you want to augment in free agency,
- 22:48Speaker 9: right like I would go heavily if I were the
- 22:51Speaker 9: Patriots after one or two individual guys right now this year.
- 22:55Speaker 9: They have the money, they have the cap space, identify,
- 22:59Speaker 9: you know, one of two guys. You know, I don't
- 23:02Speaker 9: if you want to really get strong on defense and
- 23:04Speaker 9: you don't want to solidify your corners. Lugerius Sneid is
- 23:07Speaker 9: a guy that a lot of people have been talking
- 23:08Speaker 9: about from Kansas City. Go at them with a you know,
- 23:11Speaker 9: a Gilmore esque contract and be aggressive and get them.
- 23:15Speaker 9: I'm not anti free agency. I like free agency. I'm
- 23:18Speaker 9: anti we're going to sign eight guys in free agency,
- 23:21Speaker 9: right and overturn our team. You do that when you
- 23:24Speaker 9: have to, like in two thousand and one, but those
- 23:26Speaker 9: weren't money signed.
- 23:27Speaker 1: Well, like the year that they signed Brandon Cooks the
- 23:30Speaker 1: free agency. Those are our draft picks, remember that.
- 23:33Speaker 9: Right, But I but I don't mind that. I think
- 23:35Speaker 9: that was a good trade, the Brandon Cooks trade.
- 23:37Speaker 1: But if you do too much of that, then you're
- 23:39Speaker 1: not building.
- 23:39Speaker 9: Your tap two thousand and one, I mean twenty twenty
- 23:42Speaker 9: one was overpaying for a half dozen guys. Yeah, you're
- 23:48Speaker 9: going to be better in the first year, but it's
- 23:50Speaker 9: not going to be sustainable if you don't have anybody.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Cody and Indiana says the seating arrangement is just not right.
- 23:55Speaker 1: I'm uncomfortable with Paul and Fred being face to face.
- 23:58Speaker 1: I totally explosion imminent, I totally. But that's why I did.
- 24:02Speaker 6: I literally have sat in that cheer cheer for every
- 24:07Speaker 6: one of.
- 24:07Speaker 1: These with three of us. It's better than turning and
- 24:11Speaker 1: better from the camera.
- 24:12Speaker 8: Can't throw my bottle away?
- 24:15Speaker 1: Yeah, not even close.
- 24:18Speaker 6: That was short, not even you could put a little
- 24:20Speaker 6: more into that.
- 24:21Speaker 1: I want to hit the TV. Hit the TV in mind.
- 24:24Speaker 1: So Elliott, Well, the combine is going on. We've got
- 24:27Speaker 1: Deuce and we've got Evan there and a cast of
- 24:30Speaker 1: thousands from the from the video side. Alex and Paul
- 24:35Speaker 1: the only ones that stayed.
- 24:36Speaker 6: We got we got, we got off round Tamara.
- 24:39Speaker 1: But tomorrow is going to be going. Yeah, she's going
- 24:42Speaker 1: for another company. She's going to be down there for
- 24:44Speaker 1: Panini Panini again. Yeah, yeah, so she likes the pasta okay,
- 24:50Speaker 1: oh no, that's Penny.
- 24:52Speaker 8: Yeah, just a trading card.
- 24:54Speaker 1: So she'll be she'll be there. You know, you might
- 24:57Speaker 1: see her on our site as well. But like I said,
- 25:01Speaker 1: later in the show, we'll have Duce and Evan. They'll
- 25:04Speaker 1: be live and we'll get their take. It's still early.
- 25:06Speaker 1: It's just right now, it's just GM's talking. I think
- 25:09Speaker 1: tomorrow there might be some coaches in GMS, but the
- 25:13Speaker 1: players haven't started their their workouts yet.
- 25:16Speaker 9: No, and the players don't start talking until tomorrow, I believe.
- 25:21Speaker 9: I think that most of the I saw a quick
- 25:24Speaker 9: look at the schedule and I didn't really see any
- 25:26Speaker 9: coaches GMS beyond today.
- 25:29Speaker 1: Looked like I might talk tomorrow, Is that right?
- 25:32Speaker 9: I didn't see that. I had heard that Gerard wasn't going.
- 25:37Speaker 9: That's what I heard too, And then I saw the
- 25:39Speaker 9: Globe definitively wrote that he was there, which doesn't mean
- 25:42Speaker 9: that he's there right. Reportedly, according to the Boston Globe,
- 25:46Speaker 9: he's there, but I was told as recently as late
- 25:51Speaker 9: last week that he wasn't going.
- 25:52Speaker 3: I thought it was said in the media conference too
- 25:54Speaker 3: that just Elliott would be available.
- 25:56Speaker 1: But that's what I heard, but then I heard yesterday
- 25:58Speaker 1: he might talk, So if he's going to talk, he's there.
- 26:00Speaker 9: Yeah, obviously if he does, we'll have that for you too,
- 26:03Speaker 9: like we did with Wolf. Yeah, you know, we'll stream
- 26:06Speaker 9: that live on Patriots dot Com.
- 26:07Speaker 8: Oh, you guys missed the Happy Hour with Coaches. You
- 26:10Speaker 8: should have seen Evan.
- 26:12Speaker 3: So it was good, but oh my god, Evan should
- 26:15Speaker 3: have had a live cam on him the whole time.
- 26:17Speaker 8: Like, I've never seen someone.
- 26:18Speaker 3: Like a kid in a candy store, a kid in
- 26:20Speaker 3: a candy store on Christmas. Like, he was hilarious. He
- 26:24Speaker 3: was just standing off to the side. At one point
- 26:27Speaker 3: he had just finished talking to Elliott Wolf and he's
- 26:29Speaker 3: just looking around. You can see him just taking in
- 26:31Speaker 3: the experience.
- 26:32Speaker 6: Well, I didn't realize Wolf was available on that too.
- 26:35Speaker 3: Yeah, well he was there and people were talking to him.
- 26:38Speaker 8: Evan certainly was.
- 26:39Speaker 3: But I just remember looking over and he's just by himself,
- 26:41Speaker 3: looking around, just the biggest smile on his face. He's
- 26:44Speaker 3: beat red.
- 26:44Speaker 8: It was so funny.
- 26:46Speaker 3: And he comes up to Tamara and I and Veronica and.
- 26:48Speaker 8: Says, this is the best day of my life. Jeez,
- 26:51Speaker 8: he really.
- 26:51Speaker 6: Really, he really is sad. It's a sad existence.
- 26:56Speaker 9: So I, you know, Fred and I were both away
- 26:59Speaker 9: last week, and I guess how they did it was
- 27:00Speaker 9: they had Gerard and then the coordinators right and then
- 27:05Speaker 9: after that they had sort of like a meet and
- 27:07Speaker 9: greet with.
- 27:08Speaker 8: The entire staff and the new beer field level.
- 27:11Speaker 9: I didn't realize it was like ad like. I didn't
- 27:13Speaker 9: realize it was a drunk was it.
- 27:15Speaker 3: Was mocktails and it was non alcoholic beer. Really, mocktails
- 27:19Speaker 3: are pretty good. I had a had a virgin Moscow mule.
- 27:22Speaker 6: Okay, not interested whatsoever? All Right, Yeah, what's the point.
- 27:26Speaker 6: I was on the beach.
- 27:27Speaker 8: You could have drank water if you wanted to.
- 27:32Speaker 1: I watched the cove on the beach.
- 27:35Speaker 6: Good. So this is funny.
- 27:37Speaker 9: You know, this was very well received by the way,
- 27:40Speaker 9: to the point where none, none of them that Andy
- 27:43Speaker 9: Hart reaches out to me with a lengthy text about
- 27:50Speaker 9: how much more enjoyable the last twenty plus years could
- 27:52Speaker 9: have been. Like he said, it was phenomena like he said,
- 27:57Speaker 9: it was phenomenal, or we could have won like that
- 27:59Speaker 9: with this kind of approach.
- 28:01Speaker 6: He said, it was really well done.
- 28:03Speaker 10: Yeah, agains, Yeah, let's not forget what happened.
- 28:08Speaker 8: You're just so used to.
- 28:09Speaker 3: Being like abused little puppies getting like hit and stuff
- 28:12Speaker 3: and with their tail between their legs and the corner
- 28:14Speaker 3: that now that they actually get to come out and
- 28:16Speaker 3: play and yeah, I'm socialized.
- 28:18Speaker 1: They I think we need to be careful because I, well,
- 28:21Speaker 1: at least I am forever grateful for what Bill did.
- 28:24Speaker 6: And you know, saying that you're not great, why does
- 28:27Speaker 6: one have to Well, I.
- 28:28Speaker 1: Think you know these shots and yeah, you know all
- 28:31Speaker 1: that stuff. You should talk to these talk to Let's
- 28:34Speaker 1: just say, let's just say this is the way we're
- 28:36Speaker 1: doing it, you know, without having to go past the past.
- 28:41Speaker 1: We're moving forward.
- 28:42Speaker 3: We thank him from where he got us, and now
- 28:44Speaker 3: we're moving.
- 28:45Speaker 1: And we've done that him. Let's focus on the future.
- 28:49Speaker 3: Yeah, you don't need to dance on the man's like
- 28:51Speaker 3: figurative focus.
- 28:52Speaker 1: On the future. Let's let's do let's move past it.
- 28:55Speaker 1: What this, Well, the monitor broke, so we had to
- 28:58Speaker 1: bring another one in. So when we have Dus and Evan,
- 29:01Speaker 1: they'll be on that monitor so we can actually see them. Okay,
- 29:04Speaker 1: but I just want to tell you there'll be a
- 29:05Speaker 1: four second delay, so just keep you guy.
- 29:08Speaker 9: I mean, I don't really, there's nothing going on, so
- 29:10Speaker 9: I don't even know what we're gonna happen other than
- 29:12Speaker 9: they're saying Elmo's stake.
- 29:13Speaker 1: Well, I want to get their take on Elliott and
- 29:16Speaker 1: what was going on? Who else talked from other teams?
- 29:18Speaker 1: Was there any Patriots chatter going on?
- 29:20Speaker 6: Sure?
- 29:21Speaker 1: You know? So yeah, there's a lot to talk about. Okay,
- 29:27Speaker 1: So yeah, all right eight five five, Pats five hundred,
- 29:30Speaker 1: any other news that we need to get to Patriots
- 29:33Speaker 1: are otherwise any stuff going around the league that is
- 29:37Speaker 1: of interest. So what happened with Taylor Swiss brother se
- 29:41Speaker 1: in trouble?
- 29:41Speaker 8: Oh? I don't know. I didn't hear. How did I
- 29:43Speaker 8: miss this?
- 29:44Speaker 1: Punch somebody or push somebody or something or her dad?
- 29:48Speaker 8: Really?
- 29:48Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 29:49Speaker 6: Scott Scott the paparazzi.
- 29:52Speaker 3: Oh, he's like a buttoned up stockbroker guy.
- 29:55Speaker 8: Like that's really surprising.
- 29:57Speaker 1: Okay, So there's that.
- 29:58Speaker 3: There's another fight, Cam Newton fighting off some kids.
- 30:02Speaker 1: What's going on with Cam new Why is he? Why
- 30:04Speaker 1: does he get disrespected at these seven on seven?
- 30:07Speaker 3: So what I saw I don't I didn't verify this myself,
- 30:10Speaker 3: but apparently Cam was trying to break up a fight
- 30:13Speaker 3: that was already happening, and then he caught.
- 30:16Speaker 1: A stray somebody gave him a socker punch.
- 30:18Speaker 8: Yep, someone sucker punk.
- 30:19Speaker 3: But just the photo of him like fighting off seven
- 30:23Speaker 3: people at once.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Yeah, and he's got the hat on with Yeah, it
- 30:27Speaker 1: never fell off. I've never never came hat never came off.
- 30:30Speaker 1: But but why does this happen to him? Like he
- 30:33Speaker 1: was another one where these little kids were like just distance.
- 30:36Speaker 3: Its shameful, Like, it's so shameful. He's Cam Newton, I know,
- 30:39Speaker 3: like have some I don't know.
- 30:40Speaker 1: Give him a break. He's out there helping.
- 30:43Speaker 3: If I were him, I would just be like, all right,
- 30:45Speaker 3: screw all of you.
- 30:47Speaker 8: Literally screw all of you.
- 30:48Speaker 9: Right, It is odd that something like that would happen.
- 30:53Speaker 9: That team passed on me, Yeah, that's not that's not
- 30:56Speaker 9: odd people passed on him. But and item that I
- 31:00Speaker 9: found interesting to see some of this stuff with Marvin Harrison.
- 31:04Speaker 6: No, he is junior.
- 31:08Speaker 9: That is one of the rare ones where you probably
- 31:12Speaker 9: you know, do need the junior. That kind of annoys me.
- 31:14Speaker 9: That like trend for the last ten years or so.
- 31:17Speaker 9: But he is that does have a famous father in
- 31:20Speaker 9: the same line of work. He is not only not
- 31:25Speaker 9: going to do anything at the case, he's not going
- 31:27Speaker 9: to the combine at all. He's not going to work out,
- 31:30Speaker 9: but he's not working out at all, like he's not
- 31:33Speaker 9: doing no Pro Day's. All he's going to do is
- 31:35Speaker 9: continue his normal football prep work. He's not training for
- 31:41Speaker 9: the combine slash pro day, which I think is interesting.
- 31:45Speaker 9: You don't really see that happen the first time I
- 31:47Speaker 9: can really remember a guy openly saying that he's not
- 31:50Speaker 9: going to do that stuff.
- 31:52Speaker 1: To me, it kind of makes sense, like it keeps
- 31:56Speaker 1: what else do I need to show?
- 31:58Speaker 9: I just I just when I first saw it, I
- 32:00Speaker 9: totally agree with you. I wish I could, you know,
- 32:02Speaker 9: we're face to face now. I wish I could argue
- 32:04Speaker 9: with you. But I totally have the same opinion. I
- 32:07Speaker 9: just wish that it was Caleb Williams so everybody would
- 32:09Speaker 9: have the opposite opinion and be another thing against him,
- 32:13Speaker 9: like just won't conform, just can't do what everybody else.
- 32:16Speaker 3: Marvin Harrison, It's like, yeah, this is a proven prospect,
- 32:18Speaker 3: like anything he does.
- 32:19Speaker 1: Might hurt him.
- 32:21Speaker 9: He wants to continue to train for football for the
- 32:24Speaker 9: forty yards right right, which I think is.
- 32:26Speaker 1: But the only thing, the only thing I hope he's
- 32:28Speaker 1: open to is if the Patriots want to bring him
- 32:30Speaker 1: in for a visit. Even if you're not going to
- 32:33Speaker 1: work out for us, we want to sit down and
- 32:35Speaker 1: talk with you. Maybe we want to have our medical
- 32:38Speaker 1: take a look at you. I hope he's open to that,
- 32:41Speaker 1: you know, because you know teams tell you that these visits,
- 32:47Speaker 1: the most important thing is getting to know the player.
- 32:49Speaker 1: He's sitting down face to face, asking questions and all
- 32:52Speaker 1: that stuff, getting your own doctors to look at him.
- 32:56Speaker 1: That's really valuable. But I kind of agree with him
- 32:59Speaker 1: in terms of the workout stuff, like you've got on
- 33:02Speaker 1: my tape from my career. You've got everything you need there.
- 33:05Speaker 1: I can't show you anything else. And like to Paul's point,
- 33:08Speaker 1: I'm not going to spend all my time training for
- 33:10Speaker 1: forty or the cone drill. You know that's not football, right.
- 33:14Speaker 9: I'll bet you if you asked all the NFL scouts,
- 33:19Speaker 9: I'll bet you they'd prefer it. Oh yeah, because now
- 33:21Speaker 9: they're not going to get clouded by the guys who
- 33:25Speaker 9: Mike Mamula the combine and totally prepare. That's a dated
- 33:28Speaker 9: reference Mike Mamula. People have no idea what I'm talking about,
- 33:31Speaker 9: especially Alum. He's the guy the Eagles draft totally prepared specifically,
- 33:35Speaker 9: was one of the first that really just prepared for
- 33:38Speaker 9: the combine, and he killed it. Like he was top
- 33:41Speaker 9: of the charts in everything, like the hell got taken in,
- 33:44Speaker 9: like the top ten got up.
- 33:46Speaker 1: You know.
- 33:47Speaker 9: He was considered like a like a second day pick,
- 33:50Speaker 9: and he shot up the board was like a top
- 33:52Speaker 9: ten pick.
- 33:52Speaker 8: And that's a business decision, like.
- 33:54Speaker 6: Just completely flamed out.
- 33:56Speaker 1: Yes, it's like these kids that like past in colleges
- 33:59Speaker 1: to know, do the SAT Yeah, oh great, okay, so
- 34:02Speaker 1: you're good at the SAT right, you know, but.
- 34:04Speaker 3: Then they get to like their real life and it's like, oh,
- 34:06Speaker 3: can you speak to people?
- 34:07Speaker 8: Or you just are really really right smart.
- 34:09Speaker 1: So I maybe he could be a trendsetter. I'd love
- 34:12Speaker 1: to see more of that, believe Yeah.
- 34:14Speaker 9: And I do think that that the the teams would
- 34:17Speaker 9: probably appreciate it, as long as they got to do
- 34:19Speaker 9: all the stuff that you said, you know, you get
- 34:21Speaker 9: to meet with them and medically check them out and whatnot,
- 34:24Speaker 9: and and have them do a football workout. Yeah, you know,
- 34:28Speaker 9: I think that would that would work, But he's not
- 34:30Speaker 9: doing anything. He's not doing any football workout as far
- 34:32Speaker 9: as I know. Yeah, I know that a lot of
- 34:34Speaker 9: people on Twitter were talking about it the last couple
- 34:36Speaker 9: of days, and.
- 34:37Speaker 1: The reports are the top three quarterbacks aren't going to
- 34:39Speaker 1: be throwing. Yeah, yeah, So you know, Williams and Drake
- 34:43Speaker 1: May and Daniels will not throw at the combine.
- 34:46Speaker 9: And everybody keeps saying that JJ McCarthy will, and that
- 34:52Speaker 9: he you know, I know Fred Tutcher has been talking
- 34:55Speaker 9: about this for a long time on the Sports Hub
- 34:57Speaker 9: that when he does, he's gonna blow people away because
- 35:00Speaker 9: his physical skills are just.
- 35:02Speaker 1: Yeah, the Michigan people are. Everyone's saying he's gonna prove
- 35:06Speaker 1: a lot of people wrong.
- 35:08Speaker 6: Yeah, there's a lot of talk about him suddenly sliding into.
- 35:10Speaker 1: The six feet at most or something like that.
- 35:13Speaker 9: Oh, I think he's bigger than but he's I mean,
- 35:15Speaker 9: he's a pretty good athlete too.
- 35:17Speaker 6: But I don't love him. I don't.
- 35:19Speaker 9: I mean, maybe I'm wrong, maybe he's capable of a
- 35:21Speaker 9: lot more, but I do think he's reasonably athletic and
- 35:27Speaker 9: moves and makes plays off platform. But I don't. I
- 35:30Speaker 9: don't love I don't love him as a player because
- 35:33Speaker 9: I just felt like there was too much run. You know,
- 35:36Speaker 9: he wasn't asked to do that much.
- 35:38Speaker 1: Yeah, well that's not his fault though.
- 35:39Speaker 9: No, I know, but I think if he was capable
- 35:41Speaker 9: of doing more, they might have played it differently. Yeah,
- 35:45Speaker 9: so okay, Yeah, he's listed at six three now probably
- 35:50Speaker 9: maybe he's not six three six.
- 35:53Speaker 1: Listen at six three two oh two, so he.
- 35:56Speaker 10: Just looks maybe because the Michigan line is so big,
- 36:00Speaker 10: But I don't know, he just you know.
- 36:02Speaker 9: As Billy Tubbs used to say, the old Oklahoma basketball coach,
- 36:05Speaker 9: I never saw a player play in his bare feet,
- 36:08Speaker 9: so why not.
- 36:09Speaker 6: Measure them in their sneakers? Right, That's what he used
- 36:11Speaker 6: to say.
- 36:12Speaker 3: I'm gonna start going with that. Yeah, if anyone's wondering, but.
- 36:15Speaker 1: I don't think it matters. As long as everyone's in
- 36:17Speaker 1: their bare feet, then you know.
- 36:20Speaker 6: It was a Billy Tubbs is he was a long
- 36:22Speaker 6: time ago, all right.
- 36:24Speaker 1: H eight five five pass five hundred is the Ace
- 36:26Speaker 1: ticket Hutline web Radio at Patriot dot com. Just a
- 36:29Speaker 1: reminder at halftime, we'll play the Elliott Wolf interview that
- 36:32Speaker 1: he did with us, not the press, conference, and then
- 36:36Speaker 1: later on in the show we'll have Duce and Evan
- 36:38Speaker 1: live from the combine.
- 36:39Speaker 9: But Scott's important, like, the what you're gonna hear is
- 36:42Speaker 9: not the same thing that you've already heard on Patriots
- 36:44Speaker 9: dot Com.
- 36:45Speaker 1: It's different, right, Uh So let's go to the Ace
- 36:49Speaker 1: ticket hutline. We'll start with Mark, who's in Bolton. What's up? Mark?
- 36:53Speaker 13: Hey, guys, like I got a couple of things. I'm
- 36:57Speaker 13: really pleased to hear about the new ranking system. I've
- 37:03Speaker 13: had problems with with the pass in the past. I
- 37:06Speaker 13: just think that there was a disconnect with value of
- 37:10Speaker 13: other of how other teams view the players that you're
- 37:15Speaker 13: interested in, and some of the trade ups for example,
- 37:19Speaker 13: you know, throwing away fourth round pick for Duke Dawson.
- 37:23Speaker 13: You know they had to have Devin Asiassi, so let's
- 37:26Speaker 13: throw away a fourth round pick there. And Paul, I
- 37:29Speaker 13: know we discussed this in the past, So I don't
- 37:33Speaker 13: know your thoughts on on on the ranking system is
- 37:36Speaker 13: just one.
- 37:36Speaker 9: Other thing I got to Yeah, I mean I don't
- 37:38Speaker 9: really know if those those are certainly bad trades. I mean,
- 37:42Speaker 9: you you targeted guys that weren't really very good players,
- 37:47Speaker 9: So I don't know if that has to do with
- 37:48Speaker 9: the the value charge, like the what the what they've
- 37:52Speaker 9: done with their.
- 37:53Speaker 6: Rankings per se.
- 37:54Speaker 9: That's smart because I think that some of those guys,
- 37:58Speaker 9: you know, if it was because of that. In other words,
- 38:01Speaker 9: if you took cole Strange where you did because you
- 38:04Speaker 9: value him more than other people, that shouldn't make you
- 38:07Speaker 9: have to take him rounds earlier than you need to, right,
- 38:11Speaker 9: I mean it would only stand to reason. Logic would
- 38:13Speaker 9: dictate if you think more of him than everybody else,
- 38:17Speaker 9: I can wait longer to take him because they're not
- 38:19Speaker 9: going to take.
- 38:19Speaker 1: Him or they but you know, you don't know what
- 38:22Speaker 1: other If you think he's really good and other people
- 38:25Speaker 1: probably think he's good too, we don't want to risk it.
- 38:27Speaker 6: But that's the problem. It's a misevaluation.
- 38:30Speaker 1: It's a misevaluation.
- 38:31Speaker 9: And yeah, it's like I think that Bill specifically and
- 38:37Speaker 9: you know, Matt grow and whoever was just thought Cole
- 38:40Speaker 9: Strange was a better player than he is. Yeah, well
- 38:43Speaker 9: so far anyway through two years. I think that's the misevaluation.
- 38:47Speaker 9: Not because well, he fits so well with what we
- 38:50Speaker 9: want to do, so we're going to take him three
- 38:51Speaker 9: rounds early.
- 38:52Speaker 1: You can still wait if you think he's a fit. Yeah, yeah,
- 38:57Speaker 1: that was a complete yeah.
- 38:58Speaker 9: And Mark is right, you know, Duke Dawson trading up,
- 39:01Speaker 9: you know, and you might say, well, you know, what's
- 39:03Speaker 9: a fourth round pick? I would largely agree with that,
- 39:05Speaker 9: But you don't need to give up draft picks to
- 39:07Speaker 9: get guys like Duke Dawson and Devin Aias.
- 39:09Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, let's see, phones are stacked up for sure.
- 39:15Speaker 1: Let's go to dominic in New York. What's up dominic?
- 39:19Speaker 14: Hey, y'all, how y'all doing all right?
- 39:23Speaker 11: Uh?
- 39:23Speaker 14: Yeah, So my question, or rather my thoughts kind of
- 39:26Speaker 14: deal with the mock draft season and everything going on.
- 39:30Speaker 14: I've seen so much that, you know, and I don't
- 39:32Speaker 14: know if this is planted by whoever. I'm pretty sure
- 39:35Speaker 14: it is, but a lot of trading back with like
- 39:37Speaker 14: the Minnesota Vikings to trade justin Jefferson, and you know,
- 39:40Speaker 14: the Patriots is moving back to Admiral Draft Capital and
- 39:43Speaker 14: so on and so forth. And I think you mentioned
- 39:45Speaker 14: on a show a couple of you know, weeks ago,
- 39:47Speaker 14: like you know, there's going to be a process. We're
- 39:50Speaker 14: not going to you know, hit on everyone in the draft.
- 39:52Speaker 14: This year, maybe look to next year if we have
- 39:54Speaker 14: a social season, But I'm of the mindset of just
- 39:57Speaker 14: keeping at keeping number three pick, whether it's Smart Norris
- 40:00Speaker 14: and Junior Drake May, Jane Daniels who it is kind
- 40:03Speaker 14: of see how what we can get through this draft,
- 40:05Speaker 14: and then maybe next year you make some moves, you
- 40:06Speaker 14: trade back. I think I'm okay with that, but I'm
- 40:09Speaker 14: just hearing so much of trading back and it's kind
- 40:11Speaker 14: of discouraging because you feel like the talent might be
- 40:13Speaker 14: really good at the top, and you know, it's knowing
- 40:16Speaker 14: more than anything. It's more of a great But I'm wondering, like,
- 40:19Speaker 14: what would you do? Would you just hey, let's get
- 40:21Speaker 14: the best time this year. We're not guaranteed be guaranteed
- 40:23Speaker 14: to be at the three spot this year, this time
- 40:25Speaker 14: next year, you know, let's just take what.
- 40:28Speaker 1: We have and then well, here's the thing. You know,
- 40:32Speaker 1: if you don't love the top three quarterbacks, moving back
- 40:37Speaker 1: this year is a little bit different than moving back
- 40:39Speaker 1: in prior years. When you move back in prior years,
- 40:42Speaker 1: you're moving down to the bottom of the first round,
- 40:44Speaker 1: you know, or around there. This year, moving back could
- 40:48Speaker 1: be like to number eight or number seven, and at
- 40:52Speaker 1: that spot you can still get a good player and
- 40:56Speaker 1: you know, pick up more resources. So this year moving
- 41:00Speaker 1: is not the same as in the past years.
- 41:01Speaker 9: I agree with that. And I also think that if
- 41:05Speaker 9: you do not like one of those three quarterbacks.
- 41:08Speaker 1: Right, that's what it's all predicated.
- 41:09Speaker 9: I think it makes a lot of sense if you
- 41:11Speaker 9: do like them. And you know me, I'm very anti
- 41:13Speaker 9: trading down, but I can absolutely be be sold on it.
- 41:16Speaker 9: If you're telling me, let's just say that Jayden Daniels
- 41:20Speaker 9: is the guy left at three and you don't like Jayden.
- 41:22Speaker 9: If Gerard Mayo does not want to draft Jayden Daniels,
- 41:25Speaker 9: I think trading down is the right thing to do,
- 41:27Speaker 9: not just an option. I think it would be the
- 41:29Speaker 9: right thing to do, right because someone's gonna want him.
- 41:32Speaker 1: Reverse If you're a number three, Caleb Williams goes number
- 41:36Speaker 1: one and you like Drake may I would move up,
- 41:39Speaker 1: like I wouldn't risk it, I would. I would If
- 41:43Speaker 1: you love Drake may go get him, Go get him,
- 41:45Speaker 1: you know, yeah, Or that goes for any of the guys,
- 41:48Speaker 1: you know. All right, thanks Dominic, Let's go to Eldred
- 41:53Speaker 1: in North Carolina. What's up?
- 41:56Speaker 15: Eldridd Yeah, you get those quarterbacks in the first round, right,
- 42:08Speaker 15: so if none of them throwing or going to the
- 42:11Speaker 15: combine when that's combine but maybe pro day, how do
- 42:15Speaker 15: you adjust your board?
- 42:18Speaker 1: I don't understand the question. What do you mean? Like
- 42:20Speaker 1: without the pro day go ahead.
- 42:22Speaker 16: You have to combine, but none of the top three
- 42:26Speaker 16: quarterbacks gonna throw.
- 42:27Speaker 9: But the combine is not going to adjust your board,
- 42:30Speaker 9: like the workouts aren't necessarily gonna adjust your board. You
- 42:33Speaker 9: want to talk to these guys and find out what
- 42:35Speaker 9: they're all about, and you have ample opportunity to do that.
- 42:38Speaker 1: They'll be there, but they're just not gonna throw.
- 42:41Speaker 6: Yeah, you want to, You want to.
- 42:42Speaker 9: I mean, like in Michael Pennix's situation, very important part
- 42:46Speaker 9: of this is medical. So you're going to get all
- 42:48Speaker 9: that information. You want to talk to these guys and
- 42:51Speaker 9: try to figure out. Listen, the Caleb Williams stuff that
- 42:54Speaker 9: I mock all the time, maybe that comes across in
- 42:57Speaker 9: these interviews.
- 42:58Speaker 6: Right, you know, this is not a team guy.
- 43:00Speaker 9: This is not a guy I want to build my
- 43:01Speaker 9: franchise around, and that's.
- 43:03Speaker 6: Solid teams or the other way around.
- 43:05Speaker 9: You realize it was all right, it's all a bunch
- 43:07Speaker 9: of media crap, you know, so I think that's what
- 43:11Speaker 9: you're doing. I don't think you're worried about Oh jeez,
- 43:13Speaker 9: I didn't know he could make that twenty yard out.
- 43:16Speaker 9: I needed to say, you have plenty of film on
- 43:18Speaker 9: these guys. They've thrown, you know, hundreds of passes at
- 43:21Speaker 9: the college level. They know, they know what you guys.
- 43:23Speaker 9: And I think Wolf actually used that phrase today too.
- 43:25Speaker 9: It's like talk to He talked about body language of
- 43:29Speaker 9: that position, and he's like, in terms of talent skills,
- 43:32Speaker 9: like these guys that are in these this situation, they're
- 43:34Speaker 9: all skilled.
- 43:35Speaker 1: I will say though, that somebody resurfaced Christian McCaffrey's workout
- 43:41Speaker 1: at the Combine. I mean he was perfect.
- 43:45Speaker 6: I mean there's some guys.
- 43:46Speaker 9: Did you ever see like when you watch like you know,
- 43:49Speaker 9: like Usain Bolt, right, you just see guys that are
- 43:53Speaker 9: so athletic when they.
- 43:55Speaker 6: Run, they don't move. That's r McCaffrey. That's McCaffrey. He's
- 44:00Speaker 6: like just perfect, perfect form.
- 44:03Speaker 1: But it was just every cuts, the head movement, like
- 44:08Speaker 1: he was perfect.
- 44:10Speaker 9: Like some guys are running and it's like all asses
- 44:12Speaker 9: and elbows and everything's like, you know, everything's going everywhere
- 44:15Speaker 9: and they get where they need to go. It's but
- 44:18Speaker 9: then there's like this fluidness to certain athletes, and McCaffrey's
- 44:23Speaker 9: one of them. Yeah, that like the whole upper body
- 44:25Speaker 9: doesn't move when they run. It's amazing.
- 44:29Speaker 16: One more question. Would you trade Judon for a second
- 44:33Speaker 16: round if somebody like it's a Arizona or maybe Minnesota
- 44:41Speaker 16: or let's say bar warming back.
- 44:44Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, I mean I'd be more willing to do
- 44:47Speaker 9: it if it was like Arizona or Minnesota, then I
- 44:49Speaker 9: would Baltimore. But yeah, if someone wanted to give a
- 44:52Speaker 9: second round pick, I mean, I think Judon has been
- 44:54Speaker 9: terrific as a Patriot his three years. But chances are
- 45:00Speaker 9: he's going to be looking for more money now after
- 45:03Speaker 9: the whole thing last year. It's like the Gilmour thing
- 45:05Speaker 9: from a few years ago. You know, you paid a
- 45:07Speaker 9: little on the future to satisfy him in the present.
- 45:10Speaker 9: He's going to be looking to get that back. He's
- 45:12Speaker 9: probably not going to be part of your next really
- 45:14Speaker 9: good team. I think he's a candidate's Oh and I
- 45:20Speaker 9: wanted to I had a bone to pick with Eldrick
- 45:22Speaker 9: driving back from the Carolinas.
- 45:23Speaker 1: Yeah, him and.
- 45:25Speaker 9: His ilk all over the road, Freddy dominating the road,
- 45:28Speaker 9: those eighteen wheels.
- 45:28Speaker 1: Oh is that right?
- 45:29Speaker 6: They're in and out of the left lane, cutting back
- 45:32Speaker 6: and forth.
- 45:33Speaker 1: Can't do that. Yeah, that's bad driving.
- 45:35Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 45:35Speaker 6: It caused me to get a speeding ticket on the way.
- 45:37Speaker 1: Oh you got it? What state?
- 45:39Speaker 6: Virginia?
- 45:40Speaker 1: Oh okay, all right, yeah how much? How much?
- 45:44Speaker 9: I don't know yet, didn't check how What was your mph?
- 45:48Speaker 9: He wrote me down for eighty five and a seventy.
- 45:50Speaker 9: Oh I wasn't going that fast. No, but I mean
- 45:54Speaker 9: I'm not gonna I'm not going to argue. I mean,
- 45:55Speaker 9: like I'm on the I'm on the side of ninety
- 45:57Speaker 9: five in Virginia. Yeah, my family, I was like, yes, sir,
- 46:02Speaker 9: I had I went all ten and two Freddy, Yes, sir,
- 46:05Speaker 9: thank you sir.
- 46:06Speaker 3: People fly down ninety five like eighty standard like that.
- 46:10Speaker 9: Well, the speed limit was seventy, which I always sort
- 46:13Speaker 9: of like you could push it to eighty, and that's
- 46:16Speaker 9: generally where I sit. I don't ever really go higher
- 46:18Speaker 9: than that over the now. I'm not going to tell
- 46:20Speaker 9: you that. I'm not going to tell you that I've
- 46:22Speaker 9: never like gone around somebody who was going a little
- 46:26Speaker 9: bit slower, and at the time I go around, I'm
- 46:29Speaker 9: I have to eighty five or whatever just to get around,
- 46:32Speaker 9: And I think that might have been what happened. Of course,
- 46:34Speaker 9: he was hiding in the woods and he was nice enough,
- 46:38Speaker 9: but I couldn't say anything because I don't want.
- 46:41Speaker 6: To get in trouble.
- 46:42Speaker 9: But there's no way I was going eighty five and
- 46:44Speaker 9: guys would just flying by me because I was going
- 46:47Speaker 9: to write.
- 46:48Speaker 1: He saw that Massachusetts plate.
- 46:50Speaker 9: Yeah, absolutely, I got myself one absolutely targeted.
- 46:54Speaker 6: And I was it was a two lane.
- 46:55Speaker 9: It was two lanes at the time, and I was
- 46:56Speaker 9: in the right lane.
- 46:59Speaker 10: Are you going to drive down Virginia's And he knows that, like,
- 47:02Speaker 10: I want to look at your Virginia task.
- 47:04Speaker 6: I haven't gone, like.
- 47:05Speaker 9: He explained, like I this is the date and if
- 47:08Speaker 9: I want to appear, and I go online to find
- 47:10Speaker 9: out and if I can fight it, if I can
- 47:13Speaker 9: fight it over zoom, I will. Obviously I'm not going
- 47:16Speaker 9: to Virginia to fight it.
- 47:18Speaker 1: Yeah, but I got one in Maryland about five six
- 47:21Speaker 1: years ago.
- 47:22Speaker 6: Is it still on your insurance?
- 47:23Speaker 1: No, No, it was longer than that. I was. I
- 47:25Speaker 1: was down one of Connor's tournaments.
- 47:27Speaker 9: Because I was one like the speeding ticket no matter
- 47:29Speaker 9: what is on your insurance, right, Like it's not like
- 47:32Speaker 9: it doesn't have to be on.
- 47:34Speaker 1: The it depends on the insurance company. Like sometimes they
- 47:37Speaker 1: have that one.
- 47:38Speaker 9: One forgiveness because I haven't gotten a speed and he
- 47:41Speaker 9: actually he came back, he because you have a spotless
- 47:43Speaker 9: driving record. But I'm still and I was like I thought,
- 47:46Speaker 9: I thought for a second, yeah, yeah.
- 47:48Speaker 3: You know, come on trying to get that quota.
- 47:51Speaker 6: Yeah, you're endangering your family.
- 47:53Speaker 9: I thought if it was like driving to endanger, I
- 47:55Speaker 9: knew that was automatic for me. But he didn't cite
- 47:58Speaker 9: me going fast enough for that. He said, yeah, that's
- 48:01Speaker 9: like when you're gonna He also wanted them to show.
- 48:04Speaker 1: Me Thethans in western Kentucky. What's up Ethan?
- 48:07Speaker 2: I didn't say that though.
- 48:08Speaker 17: He so, we're like what everybody else wants to do
- 48:12Speaker 17: in the draft, And really I look at it the
- 48:14Speaker 17: way you're either be aggressive. You could try to force
- 48:17Speaker 17: the quarterback at the three spot and then target guys
- 48:20Speaker 17: like Tyronsonis, or maybe take a chance on back and
- 48:23Speaker 17: for your tax position Calvin Gridley, all that, you know,
- 48:25Speaker 17: just trying to hit home runs in free agency, in
- 48:28Speaker 17: the draft, or you can kind of take the less
- 48:30Speaker 17: aggressive approach, trade down to eight or eleven, maybe get
- 48:34Speaker 17: your receiver for next year. You know all that, But
- 48:37Speaker 17: I just kind of wanted to hear what y'all thoughts
- 48:38Speaker 17: were on it. Yeah, wen Ellie Wolf's position.
- 48:41Speaker 1: Yeah, there's no way you force anybody at three, I
- 48:44Speaker 1: don't care quarterback or there's no reason to do that. So,
- 48:49Speaker 1: like I said, well.
- 48:50Speaker 17: I mean that's probably what's gonna have that right, Like
- 48:53Speaker 17: Craft has a lot of pressure and so to the
- 48:54Speaker 17: fans and everybody that we want to win next year,
- 48:56Speaker 17: we don't want to know.
- 48:57Speaker 6: No, no, no, there's no pressure to win next year none.
- 49:02Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, I.
- 49:03Speaker 9: Mean there isn't. I mean this is a brand new
- 49:05Speaker 9: regime everything. I mean there's no pressure.
- 49:09Speaker 1: I think there might be pressure is to create some
- 49:11Speaker 1: excitement and some hope, you know, do things that show
- 49:14Speaker 1: the fans that you know what you're doing. I think
- 49:16Speaker 1: that you have a plan not be a joke anymore.
- 49:19Speaker 3: But today said get us back to respectability.
- 49:22Speaker 1: But I don't think that's going to He.
- 49:24Speaker 17: Said, you're not going to force the quarterback unless maybe
- 49:26Speaker 17: major down he falls or maybe getting Dans and your
- 49:29Speaker 17: guy whatever.
- 49:30Speaker 18: So if you don't get your guys.
- 49:31Speaker 17: Say our guys May and he gets taken second overall,
- 49:34Speaker 17: do you try to trade down to acquire more assets
- 49:36Speaker 17: or are you going to take mar Harrison?
- 49:38Speaker 6: So then you then you I think I would trade down.
- 49:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I think you trade down. But you know, here's
- 49:42Speaker 1: the thing.
- 49:43Speaker 6: I like guys.
- 49:45Speaker 1: You know when you say you know May's your guy
- 49:49Speaker 1: and he went at second, we will never if that happens,
- 49:52Speaker 1: we will never know that May was their guy.
- 49:55Speaker 6: I don't know about that.
- 49:56Speaker 1: They won't tell us based on this.
- 49:58Speaker 6: They might put it on a Twitter on Twitter account.
- 50:00Speaker 8: I don't have a happy hour.
- 50:02Speaker 1: Then that then that's their first failure. If if May
- 50:06Speaker 1: was your guy and he went one slot above you, you.
- 50:10Speaker 9: Know, yeah, and you won't find out immediately, but you
- 50:13Speaker 9: might find out. You might find out, especially if May
- 50:16Speaker 9: ends up being.
- 50:18Speaker 1: Of course, we have we have a podcast that wraps
- 50:20Speaker 1: up each episode.
- 50:24Speaker 18: I'm been disappointed with it.
- 50:26Speaker 17: I feel like that know what thoughts for and I'll
- 50:29Speaker 17: take it.
- 50:31Speaker 6: Okay, thanks, that's definitely the consensus. I agree with you
- 50:34Speaker 6: on that.
- 50:34Speaker 1: There's been a lot of you know, and I you know,
- 50:38Speaker 1: I guess that's good. Like they're talking about it. So
- 50:40Speaker 1: if you're Matt Hammachuck or Jeff Benedict who were involved,
- 50:45Speaker 1: that's what you want. You want people talking about it.
- 50:48Speaker 1: But yeah, a lot of the Patriots fans are, you know,
- 50:51Speaker 1: pointing out things that they don't like or wish there
- 50:54Speaker 1: was more of or less of or whatever. You know,
- 50:58Speaker 1: I guess that's understanding. I think it's enjoyable. Like my
- 51:02Speaker 1: wife's watching it, and you know, she knows all the stuff,
- 51:05Speaker 1: she's lived through it, but she's finding it really enjoyable.
- 51:08Speaker 8: So yeah, you know it's enjoyable.
- 51:10Speaker 3: But also the fan in me is like, why are
- 51:14Speaker 3: why are we skipping over this right?
- 51:16Speaker 8: Like why didn't you talk about this?
- 51:18Speaker 1: Why did they choose to do this instead of that?
- 51:20Speaker 3: You know, there's all that soundtrack, the composition, the soundtrack,
- 51:25Speaker 3: it's not a soundtrack, but no, the music they composed
- 51:28Speaker 3: to go.
- 51:28Speaker 10: Along with it, not doing it not crazy like there
- 51:32Speaker 10: was like the.
- 51:33Speaker 3: Snow Game, the Vinitary snow Kick. It was like Christmas music.
- 51:38Speaker 1: Oh yeah, they were looking for that, you know, snow's falling.
- 51:41Speaker 3: Yeah, but it also sounded like I'm walking through like
- 51:44Speaker 3: me S's and Chris.
- 51:47Speaker 1: I think. I think what they were going for there
- 51:49Speaker 1: is to have a magical feeling, Like I felt like
- 51:51Speaker 1: I was on the magical game. The fact that it
- 51:54Speaker 1: snowed at all, you know, and that was perfect, and
- 51:58Speaker 1: then the kick, you know, it was mad. I think
- 52:01Speaker 1: that's what they were going.
- 52:02Speaker 9: There have been things that I like, the first two
- 52:04Speaker 9: I so far, and I've seen seven episodes now. The
- 52:07Speaker 9: first two were by far the two that I like
- 52:10Speaker 9: the most. I feel like they're kind of going down
- 52:13Speaker 9: as they continue, But I also like one of the
- 52:17Speaker 9: main things, like they keep people keep complaining. I can't
- 52:20Speaker 9: believe they didn't talk about three and o four the
- 52:22Speaker 9: Super Bowls, Like this is not like that's America's game.
- 52:26Speaker 9: America's game will give you all the highlights and details
- 52:29Speaker 9: of those magical seasons, you know, chapter and verse. They're
- 52:33Speaker 9: looking at the behind the scenes stuff and what was
- 52:36Speaker 9: going on when those things were happening. Where I took
- 52:39Speaker 9: exception to is I don't understand how three got a
- 52:41Speaker 9: short shift, because I think that was perfect for that. Yeah,
- 52:47Speaker 9: they made a very controversial decision at the top of
- 52:49Speaker 9: that with Loyal molloy and never even touched on it.
- 52:52Speaker 3: Yeah, and then and it took them three episodes just
- 52:55Speaker 3: to even get to the first Super Bowl really to
- 52:57Speaker 3: begin with.
- 52:58Speaker 8: So it's like I feel like there was a way
- 52:59Speaker 8: they all right.
- 53:00Speaker 1: We gotta take a break. Bridge Stone is the official

- 53:54Speaker 7: wanted to thank my most trusted game day teammate, Toastedos.
- 54:00Speaker 7: I recall the last minute grocery runs in late night dishwashing,
- 54:04Speaker 7: the salty defeats and spicy victories. I realize it was
- 54:09Speaker 7: all thanks to my teammate, Toastedos. It was always you, Toastedos.
- 54:16Speaker 7: Team up with Toastitos, the official chip and dip of
- 54:19Speaker 7: the New England Patriots.
- 54:23Speaker 5: All right, Mike you so Evan less are We're here
- 54:25Speaker 5: from the Combine, excited to be joined by Elliot Wolf Here, Elliet,
- 54:27Speaker 5: thanks for sitting down with us here today. Thanks for
- 54:29Speaker 5: taking the time the Combine. What's it like to be
- 54:32Speaker 5: here in India. I'm sure you've been coming here for many,
- 54:33Speaker 5: many years. It's just a convention. All the teams are here.
- 54:36Speaker 5: It's where a lot of work gets done. What's your
- 54:39Speaker 5: experience been like in the past here at the Combine?
- 54:41Speaker 20: Yeah, so this is actually my thirtieth Combine. I started
- 54:43Speaker 20: coming here in nineteen ninety three when I was ten
- 54:45Speaker 20: years old with my dad. Obviously fortunate enough to have
- 54:48Speaker 20: the opportunity to do that at a young age. The
- 54:50Speaker 20: Combine is an unbelievable source of information for us, not
- 54:54Speaker 20: only the timing and testing, but the medicals, the interviews,
- 54:57Speaker 20: the interactions with people from other teams and agents, things
- 55:00Speaker 20: like that. It continues to just be a force of
- 55:03Speaker 20: information for us as we move forward into our strategic
- 55:06Speaker 20: portion of the spring.
- 55:07Speaker 21: Yeah, thirtieth combine, that's a lot. I just I wanted
- 55:11Speaker 21: to start with the draft and then we'll get into
- 55:14Speaker 21: maybe some free agency too. But with this new coaching
- 55:17Speaker 21: staff and with AVP now in place, how much is
- 55:20Speaker 21: your process now about scheme fit versus just getting the
- 55:24Speaker 21: best players available? Just thinking about, you know, working with
- 55:27Speaker 21: him and how you get the guys at work in
- 55:29Speaker 21: his offense.
- 55:30Speaker 4: Well, the key is working backwards.
- 55:32Speaker 20: So first we identify who the really good players are
- 55:34Speaker 20: in the draft and in free agency, and we work
- 55:36Speaker 20: backwards in terms of, you know, do they fit what
- 55:39Speaker 20: we want? Are they the type of person we want
- 55:40Speaker 20: first and foremost? And then are they somebody that can
- 55:43Speaker 20: fit in our scheme and do well. You know, I
- 55:46Speaker 20: have the fortune to work with Alex before, and I
- 55:49Speaker 20: know what he looks for in players, and so I
- 55:51Speaker 20: have a little bit of an advantage even though he's
- 55:53Speaker 20: technically new. But we continue to work with Girod and
- 55:56Speaker 20: determine the perfect profile of the Patriots players.
- 55:59Speaker 5: That we want a little bit along those lines. So,
- 56:01Speaker 5: I mean, everybody wants to get right into the mock drafts.
- 56:03Speaker 5: You know, we got all these mock drafts coming out.
- 56:05Speaker 5: We haven't even had.
- 56:06Speaker 4: Free agency yet.
- 56:06Speaker 5: So just from your perspective, how do you approach looking
- 56:09Speaker 5: at a free agency class.
- 56:10Speaker 4: You've obviously got needs that.
- 56:12Speaker 5: Change every year, but how do you kind of attack
- 56:14Speaker 5: that process where, yeah, you're looking at these draft guys,
- 56:16Speaker 5: but when we get to April, something that's a need
- 56:18Speaker 5: right now might not be in.
- 56:19Speaker 20: Need if you address it in free agency. Yeah, I
- 56:21Speaker 20: think it's sort of addressing. You know, free agency is
- 56:24Speaker 20: a year long process. The players that are available in
- 56:26Speaker 20: free agency or players that we've been evaluating obviously for
- 56:29Speaker 20: at least, you know, three or four years, so we
- 56:32Speaker 20: have a distinct advantage in terms of understanding the strengths
- 56:34Speaker 20: and weaknesses of that class, and then you sort of
- 56:36Speaker 20: marry it up with the draft class, also our current
- 56:39Speaker 20: free agents, and we're you know, believe me, we're working
- 56:41Speaker 20: hard to sign some of our own guys. So I
- 56:44Speaker 20: think it's it's important to understand how it all marries
- 56:46Speaker 20: up together, and really an important meeting that we've had
- 56:51Speaker 20: so far as getting on the same page with the
- 56:52Speaker 20: coaching staff and determining all, right, like here's where we
- 56:55Speaker 20: are with our needs, like like here's what we need
- 56:57Speaker 20: on defense, here's what we need an offense, and just
- 56:59Speaker 20: making sure we're all on the same page and having
- 57:01Speaker 20: that open community, open and honest communication about that.
- 57:04Speaker 1: You mentioned your father earlier.
- 57:05Speaker 21: Pro Football Hall of Famer Ron wolf Packers notoriously have
- 57:09Speaker 21: been a team that have been methodical, draft and develop
- 57:13Speaker 21: things like that.
- 57:14Speaker 4: Is that your style?
- 57:15Speaker 21: Like, how do you look at that in way what
- 57:17Speaker 21: you obviously have learned for your whole life versus you know,
- 57:20Speaker 21: seventy five million in cap space I think this offseason.
- 57:23Speaker 20: Yeah, that's a good question.
- 57:25Speaker 4: I think I think not.
- 57:27Speaker 20: I think like at the core, it's draft and develop,
- 57:30Speaker 20: but there's different ways throughout the year to supplement your team,
- 57:33Speaker 20: whether that's free agency, trades, waiver claims. I think you're
- 57:36Speaker 20: doing yourself a disservice if you just say, oh, we're
- 57:39Speaker 20: not going to do free agency this year. You know
- 57:41Speaker 20: there'll be as we ascend in this program, there will
- 57:44Speaker 20: be times where it may maybe doesn't make sense to
- 57:46Speaker 20: sign as many high price free agents. But like you said,
- 57:49Speaker 20: we have the resources and we have a lot of
- 57:52Speaker 20: improvement that's needed within the.
- 57:53Speaker 4: Roster, just along the draft board.
- 57:55Speaker 5: I mean, every year there's you know, a certain position
- 57:57Speaker 5: group that might have a ton of guys maybe tackle
- 57:59Speaker 5: this year. There's a lot of time you know, seem
- 58:00Speaker 5: to fit the bill a variety of different ways. How
- 58:03Speaker 5: do you approach that when you have a position group
- 58:05Speaker 5: that's maybe really got a lot of talent versus all right,
- 58:08Speaker 5: there might be only another group that doesn't have quite
- 58:10Speaker 5: as many how do you kind of manage that?
- 58:12Speaker 20: Are you talking free agency or draft draft? In the
- 58:14Speaker 20: draft specifically here today?
- 58:15Speaker 5: I mean, we're gonna see the tackles on Saturday, and
- 58:17Speaker 5: o're just one group to throw out.
- 58:18Speaker 4: I mean that's obviously you need.
- 58:19Speaker 20: But I think that sort of branches off your previous
- 58:21Speaker 20: question about, like, you know, marrying it all up, Like
- 58:23Speaker 20: who do we feel confident in who solves the problem
- 58:26Speaker 20: or who's just kind of a name that you know,
- 58:29Speaker 20: we're hoping can solve a problem, because hope's not really
- 58:31Speaker 20: a strategy, So we can we can try to try
- 58:34Speaker 20: to marry it up together and determine what's best for
- 58:37Speaker 20: the team.
- 58:38Speaker 1: I got to ask you about.
- 58:39Speaker 21: Quarterbacks obviously, and my takeaway from watching these quarterbacks is
- 58:43Speaker 21: that they all have their own unique style.
- 58:46Speaker 1: Everybody plays a little bit differently.
- 58:48Speaker 21: How do you view this class in general and just
- 58:50Speaker 21: how do you go about Okay, this guy's a runner,
- 58:53Speaker 21: that guy's more of that pocket passer, and where you
- 58:55Speaker 21: guys want to take this offense?
- 58:57Speaker 20: Yeah, I mean, I think it's a good year for quarterbacks.
- 58:59Speaker 20: I also think you have to do that same each year.
- 59:02Speaker 20: Your approach and process is the same. Every player has
- 59:06Speaker 20: strengths and weaknesses, and we have to determine, you know,
- 59:08Speaker 20: what we can live with and what we can't. One
- 59:11Speaker 20: trait that I'm really excited about all these quarterbacks have,
- 59:14Speaker 20: at least at the top of the draft is they're
- 59:15Speaker 20: all really tough guys. So you know, that's a great
- 59:18Speaker 20: place to start at any position, but particularly quarterback. As
- 59:21Speaker 20: the defensive lineman get faster and stronger, and these guys
- 59:24Speaker 20: get hit more often, and you know, durability is really important.
- 59:27Speaker 21: So yeah, guy like Jayden Daniels, though maybe a little
- 59:30Speaker 21: bit too wiley coyote sometimes that I'm just saying that
- 59:33Speaker 21: you don't have to say that.
- 59:35Speaker 4: We'll just let that one Hank.
- 59:37Speaker 5: Just regards to the process here where we're gonna get
- 59:39Speaker 5: to hear from the guys at the podium, you guys
- 59:41Speaker 5: will get to talk to them. Behind the scenes, We'll
- 59:43Speaker 5: see plenty of testing numbers. Someone will probably run a
- 59:45Speaker 5: four too something and everyone will be talking about them.
- 59:47Speaker 5: Just for you and your perspective, what's the most useful
- 59:49Speaker 5: part of this weekend in terms of stacking that draft
- 59:52Speaker 5: board and figuring out.
- 59:52Speaker 4: What's going to fit you guys best.
- 59:54Speaker 20: Probably not a real sexy answer, but I would say
- 59:56Speaker 20: the medical information. Just being able to get medical information
- 1:00:00Speaker 20: and history and all these guys is really important because
- 1:00:03Speaker 20: it helps us determine, you know, who's a risk, who's
- 1:00:05Speaker 20: not a risk, and you know who we can live
- 1:00:07Speaker 20: with and who we can.
- 1:00:08Speaker 21: So a couple more franchise tag I'm just curious. You know,
- 1:00:13Speaker 21: you got a couple guys, Kyle dug or Mike Onwen
- 1:00:15Speaker 21: who are two really good players last couple of years.
- 1:00:18Speaker 21: Is that something that you would not like to use,
- 1:00:20Speaker 21: Like I feel like it's a it's a big cap
- 1:00:22Speaker 21: number to be holding for a one year on your team,
- 1:00:25Speaker 21: So how do you view the franchise tag as just
- 1:00:28Speaker 21: a mechanism, not necessarily about those specifics.
- 1:00:30Speaker 20: Yeah, I would say, I would say it's an option,
- 1:00:31Speaker 20: and we'll keep all options open. We're going to try
- 1:00:34Speaker 20: and do it's best for the team. Sometimes you know
- 1:00:37Speaker 20: that that may hurt some feelings or maybe something where
- 1:00:41Speaker 20: you know nobody wants us to use it. But I
- 1:00:44Speaker 20: think I think everything is on the table and open
- 1:00:46Speaker 20: at this point. And just in regards to those guys specifically,
- 1:00:49Speaker 20: I mean, we'd love to keep those guys. Those guys
- 1:00:51Speaker 20: are part of our core and we're excited to continue
- 1:00:54Speaker 20: to work with them to try to make that happen.
- 1:00:57Speaker 4: Just one more for me. You said you've been coming
- 1:00:58Speaker 4: here for thirty years.
- 1:00:59Speaker 5: You're about to take the pollodium, as you know, representing
- 1:01:01Speaker 5: the Patriots. Just you know, what does that mean for
- 1:01:02Speaker 5: you to be able to stand up there and represent
- 1:01:04Speaker 5: the team and take a bunch of questions from us.
- 1:01:06Speaker 20: Yeah, thank you for asking that. No, it's a tremendous opportunity.
- 1:01:09Speaker 20: I want to thank Robert and Jonathan Kraft for you know,
- 1:01:11Speaker 20: allowing me this opportunity and to work together with Girods
- 1:01:14Speaker 20: has been really exciting. So far, and it's almost surreal.
- 1:01:18Speaker 20: It almost feels like because I guess historically the Patriots
- 1:01:21Speaker 20: haven't had somebody at the podium, people are more excited
- 1:01:23Speaker 20: about that than me specifically, which in some ways takes
- 1:01:26Speaker 20: the pressure off. But no, it's I'm excited for it,
- 1:01:29Speaker 20: and I'm ready for this opportunity. And you know, Jidd
- 1:01:32Speaker 20: and I are gonna and Matt grow as well, are
- 1:01:34Speaker 20: gonna work together to try to keep this thing rolling.
- 1:01:36Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: Third, overall, pick, I'll end it there.
- 1:01:38Speaker 21: Obviously, I'm not gonna ask you who you're taking, but
- 1:01:42Speaker 21: how far along would you say in the process you
- 1:01:44Speaker 21: are now to determining who you know, the couple guys
- 1:01:47Speaker 21: are that you guys might target with that pick.
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:01:50Speaker 20: I mean, obviously the game film is an important piece
- 1:01:52Speaker 20: of that, but we haven't even met or I personally
- 1:01:55Speaker 20: haven't met any of these guys yet, so neither is Girodd.
- 1:01:58Speaker 20: So we'll continue to work through the problems, and I
- 1:02:00Speaker 20: would say we're on the on the fringes of being
- 1:02:04Speaker 20: able to determine that and the answer is the best
- 1:02:07Speaker 20: available player.
- 1:02:08Speaker 21: Yeah, Because with quarterbacks specifically too, it seems like this
- 1:02:11Speaker 21: part of the process matters a lot right because of
- 1:02:14Speaker 21: the mental the leadership, all.
- 1:02:15Speaker 20: That kind of stuff, exactly exactly. And that's again a quarterback.
- 1:02:19Speaker 20: It doesn't matter, but it matters at every position as well.
- 1:02:21Speaker 4: So all right, Ellie, well, thank you so much for
- 1:02:23Speaker 4: sitting down with us.
- 1:02:24Speaker 5: You said you get to represent that the team at
- 1:02:26Speaker 5: the podium. We have never had someone sit down with us,
- 1:02:27Speaker 5: so thank you for taking the time.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: I really appreciate it.
- 1:02:29Speaker 20: Yeah, of course, yeah, thanks for having me. Thanks for
- 1:02:31Speaker 20: having me.
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:02:33Speaker 22: When someone accidentally threw away the school play.
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: Costumes, oh no.
- 1:02:38Speaker 22: Replacements were shipped with FedEx and with picture proof of delivery,
- 1:02:41Speaker 22: everyone could focus on the perfect opening night FedEx where
- 1:02:45Speaker 22: now it's next for residential delivery.
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: Only and now great moments in history. You never get
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: into what is that hideous shirt you're wearing?
- 1:02:57Speaker 4: It come with the frog color chartruse.
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: It's a polo. It's a green polo. That's not green.
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: It is green, and it's mustard all over the front
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: of it.
- 1:03:06Speaker 4: So it's like almost like the color of my Greenysmith apple.
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: But that's not green, that's linen chartreuse. That's a good
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: point ugly shirt distracts people from his face.
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: Wow, Wow.
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: Yeah, he's just so mean. I can't believe you've ruined that. Wow,
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: what is that bag that you're wearing.
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: That's another great moment from.
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: One of the rare times they had to defend Eric.
- 1:03:30Speaker 6: I know that was kind of strange.
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: Andy. The truth is never mean, but how it's presented
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: can be mean. Well.
- 1:03:36Speaker 9: Plus, that doesn't necessarily mean it's the truth right because
- 1:03:39Speaker 9: you think it's right.
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: Uh, you know what. The show's brought to you by
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism. Great memories are
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: made in Massachusetts, no matter how you choose to make them,
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: indoors or outdoors, scenic views of city, vibes, solar or
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: family style, whatever moves you, whatever the season, plan your
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: perfect Massachusetts get away and visit m A dot com.
- 1:04:01Speaker 6: So there, okay, yeah, yeah.
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: What were we talking about during the break?
- 1:04:07Speaker 9: I was asking about some schools I hit I think
- 1:04:11Speaker 9: seven schools.
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: Yeah down there. The school was cool.
- 1:04:15Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: I didn't go that crazy because my kid couldn't get
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: into into any of them.
- 1:04:19Speaker 6: Anyways.
- 1:04:19Speaker 9: Yeah, TJ will have some options. I don't think he'll have,
- 1:04:22Speaker 9: you know, unlimited options. He's not that level of student,
- 1:04:25Speaker 9: but he'll have some options.
- 1:04:26Speaker 6: We went to.
- 1:04:28Speaker 9: The College of Charleston, the Citadel South Carolina, North Carolina,
- 1:04:33Speaker 9: North Carolina State elon high Point Coastal Carolina.
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: So on the way there Paul got a speeding ticket.
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: We had on the way back a couple people have
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: some advice for Paul.
- 1:04:44Speaker 6: This is I brought it up for a reason. I
- 1:04:46Speaker 6: didn't think you guys would let me down.
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: Mark says, I suggest you fight the Virginia ticket, as
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: anything over eighty is a misdemeanor in Virginia. There are
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: lawyers that specialize that in that area that won't cost
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: that much, and it's so worth for them to plead
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: it down for you. I drive back and forth from
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: North Carolina to New York, so I'm very familiar. Thanks
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: for all you do. I'm an avid listener of the
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: team's best. So he says anything over eighty is a misdemeanordy,
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: so you should, and then Ned in North Carolina says
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: sorry about your speed trap experience. In Virginia, speeding tickets
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: are a little different in the South. You can choose
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: to just pay the fine and be done with it,
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: or you can pay a lawyer to negotiate the ticket
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: down to an equipment violation. You'll spend about the same
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: on the lawyer who will go to court for you
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: and negotiate with the DA. You'll have to pay a
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: thirty dollars equipment violation fee and one hundred and twenty
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: five dollars court costs. The cost will be a wash
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: for you, but a lawyer gets most of the money
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: and you don't deal with the points. You'll probably start
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: receiving solicitations from Virginia lawyer soon.
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: Okay, maybe someone will take it on pro bono for
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: the publicity for you.
- 1:05:58Speaker 6: Do you know who I am?
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: So if there's anyone from Virginia who is a lawyer
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: or has a lawyer in the family and.
- 1:06:06Speaker 6: You're telling me I don't have to appear right, you
- 1:06:07Speaker 6: don't go down there. Yeah.
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: So for a couple hundred bucks, you can get it
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: and not have the points on your on your bill.
- 1:06:16Speaker 8: Probably save in the long run.
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: I thought, I thought it wasn't a speeding ticket. But
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: I I was going like ten miles an hour around
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: a curb and my tire hit the curb and it
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: was like an old curb that was all messed up
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: and blew out my tire like destroyed my door like
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: ten miles an hour. So I filed a claim because
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: it was a lot of damage, and uh, my insurance
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: company jacked my coss up, you know. So I I
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: I challenged it and had my hearing online and I
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: won and they took all the they reduced my PREMI
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: no I didn't. I didn't, but they reduced my premium.
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: I didn't get the points. So sometimes you get a fight. Yeah,
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: you know, so just think about it, Pauli, paul I Will.
- 1:07:02Speaker 6: I am thinking about it because the guy was very
- 1:07:05Speaker 6: quick to like, yeah, you know you're going to fat.
- 1:07:10Speaker 6: You know, I got it down to eighty five.
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:07:12Speaker 9: I was like this, it was a lot of vagaries
- 1:07:15Speaker 9: when he when he did it, and then he came
- 1:07:17Speaker 9: back and he's like, oh, you have a spotless driving record.
- 1:07:21Speaker 9: I'm like, well, yeah, well maybe maybe that was a
- 1:07:24Speaker 9: clue to you to keep it spotless by challenging it.
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: You know, I don't know, like sometimes these guys, I.
- 1:07:30Speaker 9: Would like to challenge it, but I just don't know.
- 1:07:32Speaker 9: Like I have to I have to look at it.
- 1:07:35Speaker 9: It's still in BET's glove compartment.
- 1:07:38Speaker 6: I have to take it out.
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: Okay. Lawyers alert Paul needs help in Virginia.
- 1:07:42Speaker 9: So and you know, you have to understand who you're
- 1:07:44Speaker 9: dealing with too. If you are willing to provide any help,
- 1:07:47Speaker 9: you realize that means you do it all all for
- 1:07:49Speaker 9: me because I am incompetent.
- 1:07:51Speaker 6: Everybody knows this. You all I know how to do
- 1:07:54Speaker 6: is this. I have no other skills.
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: Well, you know TV remote, you're the king of that.
- 1:07:59Speaker 6: Yeah, even that, Like everything's streaming now, Fred, it's taking.
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: Away all my super power right into it.
- 1:08:04Speaker 9: My superpowers are gone when you when you're streaming, it
- 1:08:07Speaker 9: can't change channels.
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: You're entering that third party.
- 1:08:09Speaker 6: Oh here's a good third party.
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: So I went to this resort in Mexico, all inclusive thing,
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: adults only. You know, first day the restaurant, we got
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: in like in late afternoon, had something to go back
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: to the room, turn the TV on. The first thing
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: we got hit hit with with three channels of porn
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: and I mean hardcore real Yeah, like this guy was
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: just going at it with this and like.
- 1:08:35Speaker 6: You really were lying on the beach drilling for oil.
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: So let's change the channel another one.
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: But imagine if I guess it's adults.
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: Yeah, three channels in a row of like the hardest
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: of hardcore porns. So we had it. We called the hotel.
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: We had it Blonde.
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: Oh my god, what if you're doing like a family
- 1:08:52Speaker 3: vacation with like your grandparents, you set up grandma in
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: this room and all Grandma.
- 1:08:56Speaker 6: I've never heard of such a that's amazing.
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: I don't know if that's a Mexico thing or not,
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: but it was like whoa in your.
- 1:09:04Speaker 3: Face and you're trying to get away, and then the.
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: Next channel and then the next channel. Right.
- 1:09:11Speaker 3: Oh god, yeah, so that was I'm scared.
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: That was interesting. Let's get back to the phones.
- 1:09:20Speaker 6: So you guys stay in there.
- 1:09:21Speaker 8: Never know what you're gonna get on this show.
- 1:09:24Speaker 6: Tickets Christian did Jake Did Jake Steele stay.
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: In that night? No? No, I'm not, like I'm not
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: into porn.
- 1:09:32Speaker 6: I'm really not.
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: It's like watching animals.
- 1:09:35Speaker 8: Ruin me, you know, it's like it's ruining our men.
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: I like, I like to do it, but I don't need.
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: I don't need to watch anyone else doing it like
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: that doesn't maybe like Jake Steele or something like that
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: doesn't turn me on.
- 1:09:51Speaker 8: You know, like that's probably a good thing.
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: All that Genitalia is like.
- 1:09:57Speaker 7: You know, Jesus Julians on day two?
- 1:10:00Speaker 4: You back here?
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: Hey, welcome? How you doing?
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: Oh my god, we're on boarding.
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: Yeah, we're on boarding. A new employee Jewels Jewels, call
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: her right, Jewels. So I hope I didn't offend you Jewels.
- 1:10:15Speaker 9: Yeah, okay, it's always better to ask after you do
- 1:10:18Speaker 9: the offending.
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: I'll get a call from HR right.
- 1:10:21Speaker 6: You're not offended, are you?
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: No?
- 1:10:22Speaker 6: I didn't think so.
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: She has like her one week new higher meeting.
- 1:10:25Speaker 8: How's it been going? Well?
- 1:10:27Speaker 6: Well, the porn talk was off putting.
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: Otherwise, Matthews in New Mexico?
- 1:10:32Speaker 6: What's up?
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: Matthew? Everybody all right?
- 1:10:38Speaker 23: Well, before we get to the dack A free agency.
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: I'm we're having trouble hearing you.
- 1:10:46Speaker 6: No, I can hear you.
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: I can't. What's going on here?
- 1:10:50Speaker 23: And maybe Lugarious need I think that'd be good Paramo
- 1:10:57Speaker 23: Christian dollars. But Brian fosh Allen and my other question
- 1:11:03Speaker 23: is for the draft, like we know the three quarterbacks,
- 1:11:07Speaker 23: but especially Paul, like Paul, who is your.
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: Q four to be four minus Pennick?
- 1:11:14Speaker 6: I think Pennix two.
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:11:16Speaker 9: Now, everybody else says McCarthy. Yeah, everybody else likes McCarthy.
- 1:11:21Speaker 9: I gotta be honest with you. I'm not overly interested
- 1:11:23Speaker 9: in four five, six set. Like I just think the
- 1:11:27Speaker 9: further you go down, you're just you're that's sort of
- 1:11:29Speaker 9: a lottery take. You're rolling the dice. You know, chances
- 1:11:33Speaker 9: are those top three. Now, it's not automatic. I gave
- 1:11:37Speaker 9: you some some results in the past where the best
- 1:11:40Speaker 9: quarterback isn't always taken, you know, you know, at the top.
- 1:11:44Speaker 9: But I just feel like these three guys, the chances
- 1:11:49Speaker 9: are the best quarterback in this class will be one
- 1:11:51Speaker 9: of those three guys.
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: But people like like you said, Paul, people from Michigan
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: are telling everyone I'm here going to be surprised by JJ.
- 1:11:59Speaker 6: I'm hearing a lot about j McCarthy.
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: All right, thanks Matthew, appreciate the call. Let's go to
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: Christian in LA. What's up Christian?
- 1:12:10Speaker 18: Hey you guys, A long time, no no talk to
- 1:12:13Speaker 18: It turns out that my phone was lost. I got
- 1:12:17Speaker 18: ANEW and for some reasons, the number is all showed
- 1:12:20Speaker 18: up without the name, and so I think I'm like
- 1:12:22Speaker 18: a lot of people these days, if you don't know
- 1:12:26Speaker 18: the person's number by heart, you just don't know their number,
- 1:12:29Speaker 18: you just know them by name.
- 1:12:30Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:12:31Speaker 18: So I've been trying to call you, guys, but I
- 1:12:32Speaker 18: was reaching a number that was constantly busy, and I
- 1:12:35Speaker 18: just figured, okay, people are calling in. I just found
- 1:12:38Speaker 18: out to you I have to row number for the
- 1:12:39Speaker 18: last two months.
- 1:12:40Speaker 4: Oh wow.
- 1:12:44Speaker 18: So, anyway to football. A couple of weeks ago, you
- 1:12:48Speaker 18: guys were talking about girod Mayo being selected as the
- 1:12:52Speaker 18: coach of the team, and the one consistent thing that
- 1:12:55Speaker 18: came up was what is his vision? And I don't
- 1:12:59Speaker 18: know that that you guys really took him to task
- 1:13:03Speaker 18: for that. I always thought, my belief that the first
- 1:13:06Speaker 18: thing that an owner organization would ask a potential coach
- 1:13:11Speaker 18: when he sat down with him is what is your
- 1:13:13Speaker 18: vision for this team's offense? What is your vision for
- 1:13:15Speaker 18: this team's defense? What is your vision for the team's culture.
- 1:13:19Speaker 18: The fact that he had no immediate answers to that
- 1:13:22Speaker 18: when you guys said and I do believe that he
- 1:13:24Speaker 18: had been selected or groomed to be the next coach
- 1:13:28Speaker 18: for about a year a year and a half prior
- 1:13:30Speaker 18: to that, it seems like something missing from that story.
- 1:13:34Speaker 18: If you have a year and a half. But you
- 1:13:35Speaker 18: know you're going to be the coach of this team
- 1:13:38Speaker 18: that's ailing or struggling whatever, when you sit down for
- 1:13:41Speaker 18: that first meeting, wouldn't you expect that guy, if he's
- 1:13:45Speaker 18: going to be successful, to at least have a vision
- 1:13:48Speaker 18: of what he believes that the offense or defense should
- 1:13:51Speaker 18: look like. Well, we'll see what kind of talent begain
- 1:13:53Speaker 18: and then we'll make a decision. That's the first point.
- 1:13:55Speaker 18: I would love to hear that from you guys. Talk
- 1:13:57Speaker 18: about that.
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:13:58Speaker 18: Secondly, my draft so is take Harrison at number three,
- 1:14:05Speaker 18: see if we can know you guys can put poot
- 1:14:06Speaker 18: in it in a little way, but see if we
- 1:14:08Speaker 18: can pick up Field and then but I was a
- 1:14:10Speaker 18: second pick, Grab grab the best tackle you can and
- 1:14:14Speaker 18: then you know, go from there.
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: Okay, all right, thanks. Did you hear what? I don't
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: know where I heard this or Chicago's asking for fields
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: like they're looking for three first round picks.
- 1:14:27Speaker 6: I did not hear that.
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: But I've been like this year and in future years.
- 1:14:30Speaker 6: I did not hear that. That's that can't be right,
- 1:14:33Speaker 6: It's crazy, right, I don't think anybody will give them
- 1:14:35Speaker 6: one first round.
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: Right, Like? Correct me? If I'm wrong, anyone if you
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: heard the same.
- 1:14:40Speaker 9: Report, like Chicago, sure, this isn't the Justin Jefferson trade,
- 1:14:44Speaker 9: that they're looking for three round pill that the team
- 1:14:47Speaker 9: like the Patriots would be No.
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: I heard from what I heard, the Patriots are asking
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: for three first round picks to get to three right, Right,
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: that's different.
- 1:14:57Speaker 6: Okay, that's that's why the three first round picks.
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: No.
- 1:15:00Speaker 6: I hate when people characterize it. It's not three first round.
- 1:15:03Speaker 9: Picks, it's two, right, because switching spots, that's not acquiring
- 1:15:06Speaker 9: a first round pick.
- 1:15:07Speaker 6: Yeah, you already have a first round pick.
- 1:15:09Speaker 9: You're giving it to the other team for their pick, right,
- 1:15:12Speaker 9: So you're getting So I just think that some of
- 1:15:15Speaker 9: the compensation packages I've seen for that proposed trade with
- 1:15:18Speaker 9: Justin Jefferson, I mean, I don't know. I guess there
- 1:15:21Speaker 9: must be some validity to it somewhere, but I think
- 1:15:23Speaker 9: it's insane if Minnesota does that, to move up eight
- 1:15:26Speaker 9: spots and give up two first round picks, a second
- 1:15:28Speaker 9: round pick and Justin Jefferson.
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: Yeah, like that's insane.
- 1:15:32Speaker 9: Yeah, that is like, what are you going to get
- 1:15:34Speaker 9: in the draft that's better than just Justin Jefferson.
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: There's no way, Why would you do that unless he
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: has told them.
- 1:15:40Speaker 6: I'm not telling you they're insane for trying to trade them.
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: Yeah, no, but to give up that much, But why.
- 1:15:45Speaker 9: Would you give Like I think if you're going to
- 1:15:46Speaker 9: give up justin Jefferson, that should lower the pack the price.
- 1:15:50Speaker 9: It is right to move up eight spots. He's like
- 1:15:52Speaker 9: first round like the Niners. Well, he's more than a
- 1:15:55Speaker 9: first round pick in and of itself. He's a round pick.
- 1:15:58Speaker 9: He's a dominant player.
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: He's a he's a plus one.
- 1:16:01Speaker 6: How many first round picks were better than him last
- 1:16:03Speaker 6: better than a first round pick?
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: Well, I'm looking at a report now that says the
- 1:16:07Speaker 3: Vikings number one goal this offseason by far is to
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: get a long term deal done with you see.
- 1:16:12Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean, I'm sure that's what they want to do.
- 1:16:14Speaker 9: And I know that Jefferson has said something to them
- 1:16:17Speaker 9: about wanting to know more information what their plan is
- 1:16:20Speaker 9: a quarterback?
- 1:16:20Speaker 6: You know, are they going to resign Cousins?
- 1:16:22Speaker 9: Are they going to try to draft somebody like before yeah,
- 1:16:25Speaker 9: before he signs. I would think that's what they want
- 1:16:28Speaker 9: to do. But like I think San Francisco went from
- 1:16:31Speaker 9: twelve to three in the Trey Lance thing, and they
- 1:16:34Speaker 9: gave up a couple of first a couple of seconds,
- 1:16:36Speaker 9: but they.
- 1:16:36Speaker 6: Didn't give up an all par player.
- 1:16:39Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:16:40Speaker 9: Like, I think people are just saying, well, that's what
- 1:16:42Speaker 9: it cost the Niners to go up nine spots right
- 1:16:45Speaker 9: for a quarterback.
- 1:16:46Speaker 6: But I don't think it's the same.
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: No, No, Justin Jefferson is.
- 1:16:51Speaker 9: Like, how many first round picks the last five years
- 1:16:53Speaker 9: have been better than that? I mean, I'm not telling
- 1:16:55Speaker 9: you that he's the best, right, but how many first
- 1:16:57Speaker 9: round picks? So that's thirty two? You know, you were
- 1:17:01Speaker 9: talking about one hundred and fifty players. How many were
- 1:17:03Speaker 9: better than him that would take it in the in
- 1:17:05Speaker 9: the last five years, right, agreed?
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: Let's see. Donovan writes in and he says, today I
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: woke up innocent and wide eyed, with no knowledge of
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: Fred's sexual preferences. Tomorrow I wake up a changed man. Football.
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: Andy Hart and his podcast crew, Kadlick and others are
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: leaning on may and McCarthy. Would you guys take JJ
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: if may Go's one or two, or would you rather
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: trade down to seven or ten? At that point, I
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: think you could trade down and get McCart.
- 1:17:33Speaker 9: I don't want to trade down and get the quarterback
- 1:17:35Speaker 9: if I want. If I like the quarterback, I'll take them.
- 1:17:37Speaker 9: But I need to do more work on McCarthy. I
- 1:17:41Speaker 9: haven't really haven't really done any work on any of
- 1:17:43Speaker 9: these guys, but I'm less familiar with him because he
- 1:17:45Speaker 9: doesn't throw the ball. The other guys you know, you
- 1:17:48Speaker 9: see them. The offenses are centering around them, and you
- 1:17:51Speaker 9: get to see them throwing and being, you know, the
- 1:17:54Speaker 9: focal point of everything. And McCarthy's not that.
- 1:17:56Speaker 3: You can't just settle to to if your guys not there,
- 1:18:00Speaker 3: you can't just settle.
- 1:18:00Speaker 8: For the next And there's bad if you're not sold.
- 1:18:03Speaker 3: Because if you don't get that right, you put yourself
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: back at least four years.
- 1:18:07Speaker 6: So there's a bad history.
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: What coach would know J. J. McCarthy better than any
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: other coach in the NFL Jim Harbor, right, So if
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: he's that good, take him and trade Herbert for a
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: boatload and build your team forever.
- 1:18:22Speaker 6: But that's dumb. Why because why does he have to
- 1:18:25Speaker 6: be better than Herbert.
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: I'm not getting rid of Herbert unless he is.
- 1:18:29Speaker 9: No, But that's what I'm saying, Like, so Harbor not
- 1:18:32Speaker 9: doing that isn't. It isn't like a slam on that.
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: I'm just saying it is. I'm saying if Herbert's really good.
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: But I'm saying, if he's that good, Harbaugh would know it,
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: and he'd be the one trade Herbert to the Patriots.
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: I'm in Oh, I'm for that. I'm for that. What
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: would you give up? I give him, give him the
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: first easy, you know, start there? You need more? Yeah,
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: because he's approven first round talent, you know.
- 1:18:57Speaker 9: Yeah, I agree. The history of trading down and taking
- 1:19:03Speaker 9: a quarterback is not good.
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: Yeah, looked it up.
- 1:19:06Speaker 9: Yeah, there's I actually saw our boy Alex Barth had
- 1:19:11Speaker 9: a tweet about it, But I did look it up
- 1:19:13Speaker 9: for that sheet that I always pull out.
- 1:19:16Speaker 6: You know, guys like EJ. Manuel. Yeah, you know, those
- 1:19:18Speaker 6: are the kinds of guys you trade down. Yeah, Oh
- 1:19:21Speaker 6: we can get him.
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the reason why you can.
- 1:19:23Speaker 6: Yeah, that's why.
- 1:19:24Speaker 9: Like, if you want a guy, if you like McCarthy
- 1:19:26Speaker 9: and you want to take him at eight, take him
- 1:19:27Speaker 9: at three.
- 1:19:28Speaker 6: What's the difference.
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: Yeah, Adams in California, what's up that? Oh he's gone
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: hold over from the hardy days. Ben's in Connecticut? What's
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: up Ben.
- 1:19:40Speaker 6: Ben Ben Fred Fred working his magic on the phone line.
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: Ben's gone, uh uh oh, we got tea from Virginia.
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: What's up Tea?
- 1:19:50Speaker 6: Oh? Te what's up?
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: Hey?
- 1:19:57Speaker 11: So I was thinking my questions pertaining to the dress
- 1:20:01Speaker 11: number three overall pick. I'd be fine with any of
- 1:20:03Speaker 11: the quarterbacks, but I really love to see Marvin Harrison
- 1:20:06Speaker 11: Junior with us. My question, I'm biased because I'm a
- 1:20:09Speaker 11: Florida State fan, but what do you think about maybe
- 1:20:11Speaker 11: third or fourth round picking up a guy like Jordan Travis.
- 1:20:16Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean I like Travis, but you have not
- 1:20:19Speaker 9: solved your quarterback problem. Well you might know the chances
- 1:20:23Speaker 9: of that are very very slim. Why because this very
- 1:20:27Speaker 9: slim chance that a fourth round pick is going to
- 1:20:28Speaker 9: be your quarterback's a fourth.
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: Round pick because he got hurt right, No, no, small? Okay,
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: I thought he was really good.
- 1:20:34Speaker 6: He is in college.
- 1:20:36Speaker 9: Yeah, I like him, Okay, but he's you know, I
- 1:20:41Speaker 9: don't know how high he would have been drafted, but
- 1:20:43Speaker 9: he would not be one of these guys that you're
- 1:20:44Speaker 9: talking about in the top three.
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: No, No, he wouldn't. He could be a.
- 1:20:48Speaker 6: First round I don't like.
- 1:20:50Speaker 9: I mean, I'll defer to people that know this stuff.
- 1:20:52Speaker 9: I don't look at him that way. Yeah, I don't
- 1:20:55Speaker 9: think that he was a first round pick, but maybe
- 1:20:56Speaker 9: he would.
- 1:20:57Speaker 6: Maybe he would have been.
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: Yeah, you any good lawyers in Virginia? Yeah, so I was.
- 1:21:02Speaker 6: When I heard there was a Virginia caller, I thought
- 1:21:04Speaker 6: I was going to.
- 1:21:04Speaker 14: Be, uh, pretty strict.
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: Yeah, oh well, all right, Paul Paul looking down the
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: barrel of the law in Virginia.
- 1:21:14Speaker 9: I don't really even against it. I don't really even
- 1:21:16Speaker 9: mind paying whatever the fine is.
- 1:21:18Speaker 6: I just it's the insurance that on right, you know.
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: It thinks and pleas. It's a misdemeanor.
- 1:21:23Speaker 6: I don't care about that.
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: Do something else in Virginia. You could end up in
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: the pokey I like, honestly, I don't really Paul gets
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: arrested because loser Palooza.
- 1:21:35Speaker 6: What state is they used to be in Virginia?
- 1:21:37Speaker 8: Would you call into the show from jail?
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: You're one call.
- 1:21:42Speaker 8: I would, just because I'm a company girl. For the ratings.
- 1:21:45Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't know how that works for the ratings.
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: But no, Plus, I think in prison it's pepsi, it's
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: not coke.
- 1:21:51Speaker 6: Yeah, well that's good, that's good for you.
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: Yeah. So you might like it be all right, Yeah,
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: Mason's in Ohio. What's up Mason?
- 1:22:01Speaker 17: First five?
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: How's it going good?
- 1:22:04Speaker 18: So obviously being in the Columbus, I believe scarletting Gray.
- 1:22:07Speaker 18: But I'm not gonna ask about Marvin Harrison. I wanted
- 1:22:10Speaker 18: to ask about Kate's dover and.
- 1:22:11Speaker 19: Wondering if you guys think it'd be a good idea
- 1:22:13Speaker 19: to double up on young talent further than tight ending position.
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: I don't know so much about him, but what are
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: we doubling up on tight end with whom Henry? Well,
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: they don't have Hunter Henry.
- 1:22:27Speaker 6: Henry is not on the team.
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: He's assuming they're going to get him. I think that's
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: a wild assumption.
- 1:22:32Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean they don't have any tight
- 1:22:36Speaker 9: ends right now, so I think tight end should be
- 1:22:39Speaker 9: a strong consideration. You know, day two three, early day
- 1:22:43Speaker 9: three in the draft. Absolutely, and you know more about
- 1:22:46Speaker 9: obviously the Ohio State guy than I do.
- 1:22:49Speaker 6: Evan's not here.
- 1:22:50Speaker 9: He can't regale you with this his forty times and whatnot.
- 1:22:55Speaker 9: But yeah, I think to tight end is a major need.
- 1:22:57Speaker 9: They don't have any, they don't have any under contract.
- 1:23:00Speaker 9: And I'm sorry if Hunter Henry resigns you still you
- 1:23:04Speaker 9: really don't have tight ends like at some point you need.
- 1:23:07Speaker 9: And that's no disrespect to the ability. Henry's been a
- 1:23:10Speaker 9: good player. But you know my point is when this
- 1:23:13Speaker 9: team is in contention again, Hunter Henry won't be part
- 1:23:15Speaker 9: of it, right if you resign them, like, you need
- 1:23:19Speaker 9: to find some young talent, like Elliot Wolf said today.
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: Thanks Mason, My I got a bad connection here on
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: my headphone, I mean my U and the headphone like
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: I move it and I can't hear breaking down here.
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: We had to put the monitor. We need new equipment, Matt,
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: you know that's shaking his head. Yes, he knows.
- 1:23:40Speaker 6: Uh, you're gonna get Picasso new equipment. He's looking forward to.
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: We need an equipment refresh, right, guy, let's see Craig
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: and Charlotte says the underrated part of last week's show
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: was when Alex or maybe Tamara tried to call her
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: Germany trip to McDonald's like an anthropology experiment. Don't try
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: to church it up. What does that mean?
- 1:24:03Speaker 8: I don't understand. Don't try to church it up.
- 1:24:05Speaker 3: But I was talking about how the McDonald's is in
- 1:24:08Speaker 3: different company or different countries. They all offer different menu items.
- 1:24:12Speaker 3: It's like an anthropology lesson really, because I went.
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: To McDonald's twice in Munich, thank god for it, and
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: it was the same big mac French fries.
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: There was Frankfurt, there was different menu items. Really, Matisse
- 1:24:24Speaker 3: got something funky. Well, we were talking about how Tamara,
- 1:24:27Speaker 3: Matisa and I went to McDonald's just to see what
- 1:24:29Speaker 3: was on the menu, and we happened to walk out,
- 1:24:31Speaker 3: and of course it's Devin McCarty walking us all or not, Devin,
- 1:24:35Speaker 3: I'm sorry. Jason McCarty watches us all walk out of
- 1:24:38Speaker 3: McDonald's and just ruthlessly shamed us for all the food
- 1:24:42Speaker 3: we could have been eating.
- 1:24:43Speaker 8: But we went to McDonald's.
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: Well, I was like when I was in Munich, we
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: were there for the whole week and like you know,
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: you're in a hurry. Yeah, So like it's like, thank
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: god for McDonald's. I ate there twice. It was good.
- 1:24:53Speaker 8: It was good.
- 1:24:54Speaker 3: It tastes like it used to taste when I was
- 1:24:55Speaker 3: like little and it was exciting to go there. Now
- 1:24:59Speaker 3: it tastes like fake and chemicals.
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: But Craig has a question. There's reports that left tackle
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: David Baktari could be a cap casualty in Green Bay.
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: Should the Patriots be interested if he shakes loose? He's
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: thirty two.
- 1:25:12Speaker 9: Yeah, I'm not overly interested in that. Yeah, I mean, good,
- 1:25:15Speaker 9: good player, but thirty two, I'm not really interested in that.
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: Okay, personally, I just got word from Matt Morrell that
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: Evan and Deuce are ready to go, So let's get
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: them poted up.
- 1:25:29Speaker 6: Obviously they have nothing else to do.
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: Come on us, all right, Hey, look at we can
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: see him that. I love the old school.
- 1:25:37Speaker 6: Do you guys buy that backdrop when you were out there?
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: Did you buy that at the Silvenir store or what?
- 1:25:42Speaker 5: No, that's weak. No, we brought it with us. Thank you, though,
- 1:25:46Speaker 5: Okay I think you bought it. Actually I bought it.
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: Oh all right, so tell us what's happening.
- 1:25:54Speaker 5: So today's the first day we heard from Ellie Wolf
- 1:25:57Speaker 5: Evan and I got to sit down with him, talk.
- 1:25:59Speaker 4: To a bunch of quiquestions.
- 1:26:00Speaker 5: Was great, you know, got a little background on him
- 1:26:02Speaker 5: just I mean they said this was his thirtieth combine,
- 1:26:05Speaker 5: which was pretty cool. Uh, you know, just obviously we
- 1:26:08Speaker 5: saw him at the call at the podium two. So
- 1:26:10Speaker 5: you guys probably heard all that stuff that he said,
- 1:26:12Speaker 5: a lot of what we talked to him, and then
- 1:26:13Speaker 5: we also talked to him afterwards. So you got three
- 1:26:15Speaker 5: doses of Elliot Wolf today was you know, it was
- 1:26:17Speaker 5: pretty cool, a lot of a lot of a lot
- 1:26:18Speaker 5: of information.
- 1:26:19Speaker 4: I think the scouting stuff was most interesting to us.
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: You mentioned Elliott is this is his thirtieth combine. How
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: old is he?
- 1:26:27Speaker 6: Forty one?
- 1:26:29Speaker 9: He was ten at his first time, okay, and there
- 1:26:31Speaker 9: was ten and there's one missing because of the COVID.
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: Okay, so yep. So so he's been doing this for
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: a long time. We you know, I listened to his
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: press conference. Who listened to your interview a little bit
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: although we were talking over it. It was good to
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: hear somebody, you know, taking the reins for this, and
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: you know, at the end of the day, he said,
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: somebody's going to make the decision, and it's going to
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: be me. What was your biggest takeaways from his press conference? Yeah.
- 1:27:06Speaker 21: I thought that was probably the biggest takeaway just in
- 1:27:09Speaker 21: terms of newsworthy items, is that he's going to be
- 1:27:12Speaker 21: the one turning in the card and making the final decision,
- 1:27:15Speaker 21: which is certainly something that's very notable. I think to
- 1:27:18Speaker 21: have him come out and say that and have the
- 1:27:20Speaker 21: ability to say that is just a change, you know,
- 1:27:23Speaker 21: more transparency on that regard. And I would also say
- 1:27:26Speaker 21: the change to the grading system was something that stood
- 1:27:29Speaker 21: out to both of us as just an interesting thing.
- 1:27:32Speaker 21: You know, that grading system had been in place for years,
- 1:27:35Speaker 21: really going all the way back to Cleveland for Bill Belichick.
- 1:27:38Speaker 21: So a completely different scouting grading scale and how they're
- 1:27:42Speaker 21: going to stack players on the board and things like
- 1:27:44Speaker 21: that is intriguing based off of how the draft has
- 1:27:47Speaker 21: gone for the last what five to ten years, It's
- 1:27:51Speaker 21: a welcome change, I think.
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: Yep. Yeah, I noted that too, Evan.
- 1:27:56Speaker 9: I saw your tweet about it and I jumped on it.
- 1:28:00Speaker 9: And I don't know enough about the specifics of the
- 1:28:03Speaker 9: process of how these stack boys, but I do think
- 1:28:06Speaker 9: if it leads them to just sort of identify talent
- 1:28:11Speaker 9: as opposed to solely worrying about fit, I think it's
- 1:28:15Speaker 9: a move in the right direction.
- 1:28:20Speaker 4: Yeah, Paul, I'd say one more.
- 1:28:21Speaker 5: One other thing that we've actually heard from Elliott a
- 1:28:23Speaker 5: few times now is he really seems to like this
- 1:28:25Speaker 5: quarterback class.
- 1:28:26Speaker 4: I mean, he keeps kind of pumping it up.
- 1:28:27Speaker 5: I heard you guys, you know, talking a little bit,
- 1:28:29Speaker 5: and I mean, if you're there at three and you
- 1:28:31Speaker 5: really like this quarterback class, why would you trade down?
- 1:28:35Speaker 5: You know, stay where you are. These guys are going
- 1:28:37Speaker 5: to go. I mean he acknowledged, you know, most of
- 1:28:38Speaker 5: the quarterbacks in the league, as we've talked about ad
- 1:28:41Speaker 5: nauseum on unfiltered our first round pick, so just at
- 1:28:44Speaker 5: least acknowledging that that he thinks this is a good
- 1:28:46Speaker 5: class thing.
- 1:28:47Speaker 4: He said tough.
- 1:28:48Speaker 21: Yeah, that was that was the standout trade to him
- 1:28:50Speaker 21: about the quarterbacks. And I went back and read the
- 1:28:52Speaker 21: quote directly and it was the top of the quarterback
- 1:28:55Speaker 21: class displays a lot of toughness. So I think that
- 1:28:58Speaker 21: those guys there's certainly, as you would expect, doing a
- 1:29:02Speaker 21: ton of homework on those three guys, Caleb Williams, Drake
- 1:29:05Speaker 21: May and Jaden Daniels. And I think he really thought
- 1:29:08Speaker 21: that all three of those guys. Stand out trade was
- 1:29:11Speaker 21: just being able to stand in the pocket and deliver
- 1:29:13Speaker 21: under pressure with guys in their face and take hits.
- 1:29:16Speaker 21: And durability was another word that he used to describe it.
- 1:29:21Speaker 21: Being able to, you know, stay on the field, I
- 1:29:23Speaker 21: think is a big thing. For him at that spot
- 1:29:25Speaker 21: as well. So I thought that was very interesting that
- 1:29:28Speaker 21: that was what he brought up and what he pointed
- 1:29:30Speaker 21: to first.
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: JJ McCarthy is shooting up Paul's mock draft, not Paul's.
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: What's the scuttle butt? What's the scuttle button Indie about
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: JJ McCarthy, because the Michigan people are really pumping him up,
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: saying that he's going to draft higher than you think.
- 1:29:48Speaker 4: Well, funny you should say that.
- 1:29:49Speaker 5: Evan and I just went to Jimmy John's and we
- 1:29:51Speaker 5: were walking back and that was exactly I brought up. J. J. McCarthy, who,
- 1:29:55Speaker 5: you know, as I heard Paul say earlier, you know,
- 1:29:57Speaker 5: it just doesn't thrown a lot. And I think that
- 1:29:59Speaker 5: there's a, you know, be a little bit of element
- 1:30:00Speaker 5: of unknown with him that maybe at least allows you
- 1:30:03Speaker 5: to believe that, hey, maybe he's an amazing thrower and
- 1:30:05Speaker 5: we just don't know it. But I was talking to
- 1:30:07Speaker 5: Evan and I kind of like, I keep kind of
- 1:30:09Speaker 5: like dipping back in on him, but I'm like, why
- 1:30:10Speaker 5: are we even considering these guys? If this is a
- 1:30:12Speaker 5: great class and you're at three overall, take the guy
- 1:30:14Speaker 5: at three, you know, like let's not even worry about
- 1:30:16Speaker 5: figuring out Bonix or JJ McCarthy are okay enough to
- 1:30:19Speaker 5: develop over the next three years and then maybe, like
- 1:30:22Speaker 5: we're at three overall, make the most of it.
- 1:30:24Speaker 21: Yeah, I think if you're considering JJ McCarthy, you're talking
- 1:30:27Speaker 21: really about the thirty fourth pick in the draft. I
- 1:30:30Speaker 21: think he's a late first early second round guy right now.
- 1:30:33Speaker 21: And the biggest thing is is what everybody keeps saying
- 1:30:35Speaker 21: about him is he just didn't throw all that much
- 1:30:37Speaker 21: at Michigan. So if you want to watch one hundred
- 1:30:40Speaker 21: throws of JJ McCarthy, you might need to watch like
- 1:30:43Speaker 21: eight games to get to one hundred throws, where these
- 1:30:45Speaker 21: other guys you can watch like three games and you
- 1:30:47Speaker 21: get to one hundred throws. So I think that that's
- 1:30:49Speaker 21: the biggest thing is these workouts are gonna be big
- 1:30:52Speaker 21: for him to combine the pro day to show off
- 1:30:54Speaker 21: that arm, talent and some of that ability to throw
- 1:30:56Speaker 21: the ball in these live settings. Is that going to
- 1:30:59Speaker 21: change scout's minds and say, well, in our system and
- 1:31:02Speaker 21: in our offense, and with a higher volume of throws,
- 1:31:05Speaker 21: he's going to be a better statistical quarterback than what
- 1:31:08Speaker 21: he was at Michigan. But right now, I look at
- 1:31:11Speaker 21: JJ McCarthy as more of a thrower than a quarterback.
- 1:31:14Speaker 21: Like he's got a good arm talent, he's got some mobility,
- 1:31:17Speaker 21: but in terms of the actual quarterback details, mechanics, processing
- 1:31:22Speaker 21: things like that, he's got a ways to go in
- 1:31:24Speaker 21: that category to be a guy that is going to
- 1:31:27Speaker 21: be leading your franchise in my opinion.
- 1:31:29Speaker 9: Yeah, I was curious with you guys, and obviously we
- 1:31:31Speaker 9: got to hear from Wolf and we heard your other
- 1:31:34Speaker 9: interview with Elliott. Anything you guys pick up from listening
- 1:31:38Speaker 9: to any of the other NFL coaches gms that have
- 1:31:41Speaker 9: hit the podium today, anything Patriots related, I guess.
- 1:31:45Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, just you know, one I caught was John
- 1:31:50Speaker 5: Snyder from the Seahawks was up at his podium and
- 1:31:53Speaker 5: Martinez actually asked him about Elliott because they were together
- 1:31:56Speaker 5: in Green Bay, and it was kind of a good
- 1:31:58Speaker 5: answer from John Schneider talking. But I think I used
- 1:32:00Speaker 5: to babysit him, but you know, just a lot of
- 1:32:03Speaker 5: nice things to say about him, as as everybody has.
- 1:32:05Speaker 5: I mean, I thought one of the interesting things too.
- 1:32:07Speaker 5: I don't know if you guys could catch it. During
- 1:32:08Speaker 5: his podium stand was you know, a lot of the
- 1:32:10Speaker 5: Green Bay folks were you know, really really asking a
- 1:32:12Speaker 5: lot of questions just about you know, some of the
- 1:32:14Speaker 5: hits that he's.
- 1:32:15Speaker 4: You know, been part of, and you know he spread
- 1:32:17Speaker 4: the credit around a little bit of that.
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: But yeah, that was that.
- 1:32:20Speaker 5: And then a little bit of met Mike McDaniel talking
- 1:32:22Speaker 5: about firing Vic Fangio.
- 1:32:23Speaker 4: That was another thing I just caught. Always got to
- 1:32:25Speaker 4: see Mike McDaniel.
- 1:32:27Speaker 5: You know, it was interesting just he said, I didn't
- 1:32:29Speaker 5: we didn't really even have a sense that was the
- 1:32:30Speaker 5: direction we would be going when the season ended. But
- 1:32:33Speaker 5: after the season we ended, we tried to have a
- 1:32:35Speaker 5: you know, a conversation without any emotion in it, and
- 1:32:37Speaker 5: you know, we kind of came to the conclusion for both.
- 1:32:39Speaker 6: Of us that it was the right direction to go.
- 1:32:40Speaker 5: So just caught a little bit of that, but but otherwise, no,
- 1:32:44Speaker 5: we were just you know, kind of getting rolling here.
- 1:32:46Speaker 5: Early on there, I saw Andy Reid. He got a
- 1:32:49Speaker 5: like a full convoy in a in a golf cart
- 1:32:51Speaker 5: and they had to drive him in. So he's doing well.
- 1:32:54Speaker 5: He says he's going to leave it to the media
- 1:32:55Speaker 5: to decide if the Chiefs are a dynasty.
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: Now, so Evan, you mentioned, you know, JJ McCarthy's a
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: guy who has a lot to gain from actually working out,
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: whether it's pro days or at the combine guys like that,
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: What did you think of what do you think of
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: the three quarterbacks of the top not throwing and also
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: Marvin Harrison not doing anything.
- 1:33:17Speaker 21: Yeah, so I actually asked Elliott about that specifically, and
- 1:33:21Speaker 21: he basically said that, you know, they would prefer these
- 1:33:24Speaker 21: guys to work out, but obviously they're doing what's in
- 1:33:27Speaker 21: their own personal best interest. And he didn't sound like
- 1:33:31Speaker 21: that they were going to change their draft board significantly
- 1:33:34Speaker 21: based off of the fact that they didn't work out.
- 1:33:36Speaker 21: We'll get to see those guys at their pro days.
- 1:33:38Speaker 21: The quarterbacks will throw at their pro days. But I
- 1:33:42Speaker 21: think that these guys, you have to determine whether or
- 1:33:45Speaker 21: not it's really gonna help your stock. There has to
- 1:33:48Speaker 21: be some sort of benefit to going out there and throwing.
- 1:33:51Speaker 21: And for a guy like Caleb Williams or Jayden Daniels,
- 1:33:54Speaker 21: they're going to go in the top three, what benefit
- 1:33:56Speaker 21: do they really have to throwing in these sessions? Whereas
- 1:33:59Speaker 21: a guy like Ja McCarthy, Bo Nicks, Michael Pennix. Those
- 1:34:03Speaker 21: guys could help their stocks by throwing in these events.
- 1:34:05Speaker 21: I don't know how you help your stock from one
- 1:34:07Speaker 21: to one, like you can't really, there's no place to
- 1:34:09Speaker 21: go from there. So I understand why guys are opting
- 1:34:11Speaker 21: out in With Marvin Harrison, it's not that unheard of
- 1:34:14Speaker 21: to not test. You know, DeVante Smith, he didn't run
- 1:34:16Speaker 21: the forty yard dash his draft year. That's the one
- 1:34:19Speaker 21: that comes to mind. You know, some of those guys
- 1:34:21Speaker 21: just say, hey, I'm gonna trust the tape. You know,
- 1:34:23Speaker 21: look at the tape. Do you want to see how
- 1:34:25Speaker 21: fast I play? I'm a difference maker, and they trust
- 1:34:28Speaker 21: the tape on it. So it didn't sound like it
- 1:34:30Speaker 21: was gonna change the Patriots opinions one way or another.
- 1:34:33Speaker 21: But he did say Wolf did say that they would
- 1:34:35Speaker 21: like them to do these types of things, but obviously
- 1:34:38Speaker 21: it's not in their control.
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: But you know, in the case of Harrison, though he's
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: not doing anything, he's not gonna do pro days, he's
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: just training for football. He says, do you think that
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: that could become you know more and more players who
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: are established doing that.
- 1:34:56Speaker 21: Yes, and no, I think it's really with Marvin Harrison junior.
- 1:34:59Speaker 21: He's a union case in my opinion, because he's such
- 1:35:02Speaker 21: a generational prospect to a lot of people that he
- 1:35:05Speaker 21: has the ability to do that. I don't think a
- 1:35:07Speaker 21: lot of other guys are gonna have the ability to
- 1:35:10Speaker 21: just say, I'm not doing any of this stuff and
- 1:35:12Speaker 21: I'll see you in September. I think he's got that
- 1:35:15Speaker 21: rare case of I'm this good and I am able
- 1:35:17Speaker 21: to pull that off. But it's not just him. You know,
- 1:35:19Speaker 21: Malik Neighbors is not running the forty yard dash here either.
- 1:35:23Speaker 21: Who's most people's number two wide receiver on the board,
- 1:35:25Speaker 21: and his big trade is speed. That's that's his top
- 1:35:28Speaker 21: trade is his explosiveness and his big playability. So I'm
- 1:35:32Speaker 21: a little bit surprised more by Neighbors not participating or
- 1:35:35Speaker 21: running the forty yard dash than I am with Harrison,
- 1:35:37Speaker 21: because Neighbors should run a four to three, you know,
- 1:35:40Speaker 21: something like that. So I'm a little bit surprised that
- 1:35:43Speaker 21: he decided not to run.
- 1:35:45Speaker 9: I have one more question for you guys, and I
- 1:35:47Speaker 9: don't know if you know the answer is Gerrod mao there.
- 1:35:52Speaker 5: Yes, yes, So we're gonna see him tonight and then
- 1:35:55Speaker 5: we'll also we're gonna see him tomorrow. I think he's
- 1:35:57Speaker 5: gonna do a little media scrump that we're gonna get to.
- 1:36:01Speaker 5: We're going to interview him tonight as well. So yeah,
- 1:36:03Speaker 5: yeah he's here.
- 1:36:04Speaker 9: Sorry, No, I was hoping, but for totally selfish reasons.
- 1:36:08Speaker 9: I was hoping he wasn't there. But no, biggie, just
- 1:36:11Speaker 9: so that somebody'd be wrong, bad report.
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, all right.
- 1:36:15Speaker 4: Guys, Can I ask a question?
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:36:17Speaker 5: Sure, I just want to see how you guys had,
- 1:36:21Speaker 5: how your vacation was here. We didn't, we didn't get
- 1:36:23Speaker 5: to see you. We're like two ships passing in the night.
- 1:36:25Speaker 5: Last week we had Deuce in the Kids Show, and
- 1:36:27Speaker 5: now you guys are better.
- 1:36:28Speaker 8: I should see how.
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: I hope you're all well rested.
- 1:36:30Speaker 9: And I'm not really sure why you think that it's
- 1:36:32Speaker 9: the kids show, Like he's like five years younger than
- 1:36:35Speaker 9: me and.
- 1:36:36Speaker 4: The kids deducing the kids, I said, deucing the kids
- 1:36:39Speaker 4: this guy.
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I I had a Thanks for asking. I
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: had a great uncle, Ducey. You missed all the talk
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: earlier on the show about the pornography and everything.
- 1:36:49Speaker 6: Yeah, Fred had his share of porn in the hotel.
- 1:36:52Speaker 8: He couldn't escape it.
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: Yeah, but no, I had an awesome time, awesome time.
- 1:36:56Speaker 6: Yeah it was.
- 1:36:56Speaker 9: It was a good, good trip until I got a
- 1:36:58Speaker 9: speeding ticket on the way home.
- 1:37:02Speaker 8: If you guys know any lawyers and let us know what.
- 1:37:05Speaker 6: Did you see? Did you see that? Did you show
- 1:37:07Speaker 6: you the picture I sent? I sent a picture with
- 1:37:10Speaker 6: Drake May. Yeah.
- 1:37:11Speaker 4: Yeah, so I.
- 1:37:13Speaker 6: Was on it talk to their coaches and no I saw.
- 1:37:15Speaker 6: I just talked to Drake and.
- 1:37:17Speaker 21: Ask him about his personality and his leadership, and.
- 1:37:19Speaker 9: Yeah, I I pulled about fifteen or twenty guys on
- 1:37:22Speaker 9: the campus and I didn't get anybody like Eldre just
- 1:37:25Speaker 9: said everybody in North Carolina hate Drake May.
- 1:37:27Speaker 6: I didn't get any of that.
- 1:37:29Speaker 9: Yeah, but no, I did get a chance to go
- 1:37:30Speaker 9: to the football stadium and so they have a big,
- 1:37:34Speaker 9: big sort of plaque out front with his name on
- 1:37:39Speaker 9: it in a quote about how great when you were telling.
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: You didn't you play Coastal Carolina in baseball?
- 1:37:44Speaker 6: We did not?
- 1:37:44Speaker 21: Oh no, No, I've actually heard a lot about the
- 1:37:50Speaker 21: opposite with Drake May.
- 1:37:51Speaker 9: Good guy, really good guy. Yeah, that's that's that's the word.
- 1:37:56Speaker 21: Yeah, I've heard a lot of strong leadership, good guy. Yeah,
- 1:38:00Speaker 21: there's a lot of buzz about his personality, that he's
- 1:38:03Speaker 21: hard worker, you know, all those cliches.
- 1:38:05Speaker 9: Now I'm curious, like Elliott Wolf calling the top of
- 1:38:08Speaker 9: the quarterback class very tough, sort of runs countered the
- 1:38:12Speaker 9: way the media portrays Caleb Williams.
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: No, that's true.
- 1:38:16Speaker 6: I don't know if you know, but he cried.
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: It's true.
- 1:38:18Speaker 4: Tough guys can cry. Tough guys can cry about painting
- 1:38:21Speaker 4: their nails.
- 1:38:21Speaker 9: Real men cry, I agree, Duce, real men cry.
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: All right, So what's up on your schedule for the
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: rest of the day and what can we look for tomorrow?
- 1:38:33Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, well we'll get some time with Gira tonight
- 1:38:37Speaker 5: and then yeah, we're jumping into it tomorrow. Unfortunately for Evan,
- 1:38:40Speaker 5: it's the defensive side of the ball, so will be
- 1:38:42Speaker 5: the defensive line, the edges, and I think the linebackers tomorrow,
- 1:38:45Speaker 5: I believe. So we're kind of ramping up now. We're
- 1:38:48Speaker 5: getting up to the quarterbacks, the wide receivers, the running
- 1:38:50Speaker 5: backs will be f good part of the good part,
- 1:38:52Speaker 5: as Evan said, But then the tackles on Saturday, for
- 1:38:55Speaker 5: those who who care to the amazing tackle class, which
- 1:38:59Speaker 5: was another thing I brought up to Ellie Wolf. Yeah,
- 1:39:01Speaker 5: that the bad party boy. Yeah, the big boys, the
- 1:39:03Speaker 5: big blockers. Yeah, really important. Now we're doing it hopefully,
- 1:39:06Speaker 5: just you know, maintaining our steak and take. That's a
- 1:39:08Speaker 5: big thing this week, you know, monitoring your shrimp and
- 1:39:10Speaker 5: steak and take. Have h we'll do it too much,
- 1:39:12Speaker 5: so make sure we did. We did last night and
- 1:39:16Speaker 5: for the team. Dinner was wonderful and credit credit to.
- 1:39:19Speaker 4: Tony Flann What was it the old ninety six?
- 1:39:23Speaker 5: It was the ninety six ounces of all American beef
- 1:39:26Speaker 5: and if you finish it, you get a T shirt.
- 1:39:29Speaker 5: Unfortunately he didn't finish it, but he's still been carrying
- 1:39:31Speaker 5: around the piece of steak in his pocket today. That's
- 1:39:34Speaker 5: left over and I'll just take it out and take
- 1:39:35Speaker 5: a narl of it while where we're working. So it's
- 1:39:37Speaker 5: word to It's worked out great for Tony here.
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: All the dogs in India are following him around everywhere
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: you go. It's like the mutton I felt. But did
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: I hear you earlier? Evan? Evan, you went to a
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: Jimmy Johns.
- 1:39:52Speaker 6: That was me and Deuce went to Jimmy John's.
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: That no Jersey Mike's and.
- 1:39:56Speaker 6: Oh that's that's right, that's right outside the stand. Yeah right,
- 1:40:00Speaker 6: I've frequented that, Jimmy.
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: All right, all right, guys, good job. We'll have a
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: good time in Indy. We'll maybe talk to you Thursday.
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: Stay out of trouble.
- 1:40:11Speaker 4: That sounds great, all.
- 1:40:13Speaker 8: Right, try we'll try to stay out of trouble.
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: The old school backdrop in Indy. Good stuff, all right.
- 1:40:24Speaker 6: Now, I just had something inappropriate to say what happened,
- 1:40:26Speaker 6: but I let I actually.
- 1:40:27Speaker 8: Kept it very big of you.
- 1:40:29Speaker 3: All I could think about was last year's combine calls,
- 1:40:32Speaker 3: when Mike spilled the team out, one of our video.
- 1:40:34Speaker 8: Team members almost missing the flight home. Good times?
- 1:40:39Speaker 6: Was that the combine?
- 1:40:40Speaker 8: I thought it was What else would it be that
- 1:40:42Speaker 8: they were all out there for?
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: It could have been.
- 1:40:45Speaker 6: I thought it was the Vegas thing.
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: Yeah, it might have been.
- 1:40:47Speaker 6: Yeah, Vegas is more used to say.
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: Yeah, one of the joint practices.
- 1:40:53Speaker 7: All right, let's get a socks, warn him to set
- 1:40:55Speaker 7: many alarms.
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:40:56Speaker 9: So Mayo is there, and we will have of something
- 1:41:01Speaker 9: with Mayo because Mike and Evan are gonna chat with
- 1:41:03Speaker 9: him the way they did with with Wolves. So that's
- 1:41:06Speaker 9: something to look forward to.
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: Yep. So they'll do that tonight and then tomorrow he said,
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: there'll be some kind of scrum with Mayo with the
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: rest of the media.
- 1:41:14Speaker 6: Yeah, we don't care about that.
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: No, no, all right, phones is still stacked. Not surprising,
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: but thank you for that. John's in South Beach. What's up? John?
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: John and South Beach? Oh man, these people they hold
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: on for half an hour and it's their time to
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: go and they're not there.
- 1:41:34Speaker 6: Johnny, South Beach.
- 1:41:35Speaker 4: Johnny said he was gonna hold, but he had a
- 1:41:36Speaker 4: work call he had to take.
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: Okay, all right, Scotty in New York, what's up, Scotty?
- 1:41:43Speaker 1: Beat me up, Scotty.
- 1:41:46Speaker 9: Yeah, let's let's just keep blaming it all all the callers.
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: N I don't know. I press the right button. He's
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: not there. Right, So we're gonna go to California with Ethan.
- 1:41:57Speaker 1: What's up Ethan? Yeah? Hey, Ethan, how's it going?
- 1:42:04Speaker 3: Man?
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: All right?
- 1:42:05Speaker 12: One time Patriots fan, you know, on the other side
- 1:42:07Speaker 12: of the country. But so my question about the draft
- 1:42:10Speaker 12: is if we do stay at the quarterback, you know,
- 1:42:13Speaker 12: we have Daniels and may who are two very different quarterbacks.
- 1:42:16Speaker 12: You know, there's one who's very mobile, little lighter, He's
- 1:42:20Speaker 12: really good in the pocket as a huge arm. But
- 1:42:21Speaker 12: then you have another who I kind of compare to
- 1:42:24Speaker 12: Josh Allen, like six ' four two forty five, he
- 1:42:28Speaker 12: strives in the pocket. What do you think would be
- 1:42:31Speaker 12: a better quarterback for are rebuilding franchise even if they
- 1:42:36Speaker 12: sat behind you know, our veterans for a year, which
- 1:42:39Speaker 12: you know is happening a lot with I mean, that's
- 1:42:41Speaker 12: how the Packers really build their quarterbacks. Who do you
- 1:42:45Speaker 12: think would be a better quarterback or better fit for
- 1:42:47Speaker 12: our franchise we're trying to rebuild.
- 1:42:50Speaker 9: I think that May's skill set translates to the Northeast,
- 1:42:55Speaker 9: and I think I think they're both extremely mobile. Now,
- 1:42:58Speaker 9: May is not the dynam runner that Daniels is. Daniels
- 1:43:01Speaker 9: blows everybody away in terms of running with the football.
- 1:43:06Speaker 6: He is top of the class.
- 1:43:08Speaker 9: But May is a very mobile quarterback. And I agree
- 1:43:12Speaker 9: with the Josh Allen comp and because of that, I
- 1:43:14Speaker 9: think it translates to New England. He's a bigger guy,
- 1:43:17Speaker 9: can drive the ball through the wind. I do not
- 1:43:19Speaker 9: think Daniels has that kind of arm, but he is.
- 1:43:22Speaker 9: You know, I'm coming around on Daniels that you know,
- 1:43:25Speaker 9: my chastising from a you know, a month ago. I'm
- 1:43:28Speaker 9: watching a little bit more and seeing more indications of
- 1:43:31Speaker 9: him being able to do it more traditionally, not just
- 1:43:35Speaker 9: I just think that his propensity is to run, and
- 1:43:38Speaker 9: I don't think he can do that. I think he's
- 1:43:40Speaker 9: going to have to get better as a passer. I
- 1:43:42Speaker 9: like them both. I take them both, but I think
- 1:43:44Speaker 9: may his skill set, in my opinion, better transfer. Let's
- 1:43:48Speaker 9: say the team to the weather, which I think is
- 1:43:49Speaker 9: a huge factor.
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: Yeah, let's say the team really likes Daniels, they take them.
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: They can have a he can have a future in
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: the NFL, but maybe he needs a year. Who do
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: you bring in to be that quarterback for this year?
- 1:44:05Speaker 6: I think there are options.
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: Yeah, it is it Jacoby Brissette. I mean.
- 1:44:10Speaker 6: Gardner, not Jimmy g I wouldn't.
- 1:44:13Speaker 1: I would absolutely was going to miss two games, right.
- 1:44:15Speaker 9: I absolutely wouldn't bring him in, like, unequivocally, I would
- 1:44:18Speaker 9: not bring him.
- 1:44:19Speaker 8: I think someone someone did him dirty. I feel like
- 1:44:23Speaker 8: so they didn't have to pay him or something.
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: It sounds that way. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it does.
- 1:44:29Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean Gardner, Minshew, it would be a guy.
- 1:44:32Speaker 9: There's some backups that are probably gonna be free agents
- 1:44:34Speaker 9: at Cooper Rush, you know, someone like that. But I
- 1:44:38Speaker 9: think those guys aren't going to be interested in signing
- 1:44:40Speaker 9: here because they want to sign somewhere where they think
- 1:44:42Speaker 9: they have a chance to be the starter, right, not
- 1:44:45Speaker 9: a guy that's going to start for ten weeks and
- 1:44:47Speaker 9: just a place, you know, or maybe a year. You know,
- 1:44:51Speaker 9: But you could get a guy in a one year deal.
- 1:44:52Speaker 9: I suppose like Tyler Huntley. You know, if you were
- 1:44:55Speaker 9: going to draft Jayden Daniels, would it make sense to
- 1:44:58Speaker 9: draft to sign Tyler hun for a year have him play.
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: But here, here's when I where I'm kind of going
- 1:45:04Speaker 1: with this, And maybe they don't need to do that,
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: But if you if you draft Daniels, you want to
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: start building the offense around him, and even if he's
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: not the quarterback this year, you want to start building
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: that offense. Sure, so you want to get a quarterback
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: that at least can run.
- 1:45:19Speaker 9: It, Which is why I said, would you sign Tyler Huntley? Yeah,
- 1:45:23Speaker 9: and have him keep the seat warm for your you know,
- 1:45:27Speaker 9: more dual threat guy.
- 1:45:29Speaker 1: You know, you don't want to have a one type
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: of offense this year and then have to redo it
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: next year for Daniels.
- 1:45:36Speaker 9: You know, no, that's why I'm looking for a guy
- 1:45:39Speaker 9: at similar skill set as Daniels.
- 1:45:40Speaker 1: And ah, let's see. Okay, thanks Ethan, Let's go to
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: Danielle in Colorado. What's up, Danielle. Okay, So my and I.
- 1:45:55Speaker 24: Have I have a bit of input. This is coming
- 1:45:58Speaker 24: from so I have I have I'll pay relationship with
- 1:46:00Speaker 24: the Patriots. I will say that because my grandma, I
- 1:46:02Speaker 24: have family from Boston, my grandpa and the US was
- 1:46:06Speaker 24: a Patriots fan. My dad is definitely a Patriots fan.
- 1:46:09Speaker 24: And you know, growing up as a cold fan and
- 1:46:12Speaker 24: being from Indianapolis, just seeing the way the Patriots to play.
- 1:46:16Speaker 24: They need to build around. They need to get a
- 1:46:18Speaker 24: quarterback and build around their quarterback and get some tight.
- 1:46:20Speaker 12: Into the.
- 1:46:22Speaker 6: Okay, yeah, they need a lot of some of the quarterbacks.
- 1:46:25Speaker 24: One of the quarterbacks that could bring in would be
- 1:46:27Speaker 24: Jacoby said, because he can run the ball.
- 1:46:30Speaker 6: Okay, well.
- 1:46:33Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean whoever they bring in is not part
- 1:46:36Speaker 9: of the equation. If you bring somebody into play, that's
- 1:46:40Speaker 9: because you don't want your rookie third overall pick to
- 1:46:43Speaker 9: start right away. Yep, right right, that's why you're bringing
- 1:46:47Speaker 9: somebody in so whatever they do is kind of irrelevant.
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: Okay, thanks Danielle.
- 1:46:55Speaker 6: Danielle in Colorado, Jacoby said, is not mobile at all.
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: I should have read this email while Deuce was on.
- 1:47:02Speaker 1: Oh this is from George, he says, Fred and Paul
- 1:47:05Speaker 1: please never both be missing from the show again. Was
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: that bad Deuce in the Kids? More like Deuce in
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: the Turns? Oh, that's terrible. Here it was essentially four
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: hours of the halftime show, and it was, without a doubt,
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: the worst week in Patriots unfiltered history. I do have
- 1:47:22Speaker 1: a question about the draft. Do you guys have any
- 1:47:25Speaker 1: worry that the new regime is so worried about being
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: the opposite of Bill that they would force a pick
- 1:47:30Speaker 1: at three if doing the Bill move and trading down
- 1:47:33Speaker 1: would be a smarter option.
- 1:47:34Speaker 9: No, I have worries about so being so determined to
- 1:47:38Speaker 9: be different from Bill, Yes, but not to the extent
- 1:47:41Speaker 9: will the knowingly do the wrong thing?
- 1:47:44Speaker 6: Right?
- 1:47:44Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:47:45Speaker 9: So you're telling me they know that trading down is
- 1:47:46Speaker 9: the best course of action, but we're not going to
- 1:47:49Speaker 9: do that because that's what Bill would do. I don't
- 1:47:51Speaker 9: it's a smart guy, He's not going to do that.
- 1:47:54Speaker 1: Yeah, let's see Sam and Maryland. Just thought i'd write
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: in my review of Patriots shipping of my PU winnings.
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: I was supposed to receive the Chargers game poster in
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: large PU shirt in the fall. Last week I received
- 1:48:09Speaker 1: a medium PU shirt, so Mariene was sort of getting
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: it right. Love the shirt even though I can't wear it.
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: I did get a return to send her package upstairs
- 1:48:17Speaker 1: or shirt I gotta. I forgot to bring it down
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: though I don't know who it was.
- 1:48:21Speaker 7: Everybody that was complaining that they hadn't gotten their stuff.
- 1:48:24Speaker 4: I just resent shirts too.
- 1:48:26Speaker 6: He brought them by me.
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: That's proof.
- 1:48:28Speaker 6: He goes here. Here you go.
- 1:48:30Speaker 7: He was all mad, seventeen of them in my hands.
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I have a return to send her package. You
- 1:48:36Speaker 1: send him usps. Yeah, why didn't you do it flat
- 1:48:41Speaker 1: rate FedEx?
- 1:48:43Speaker 4: So this is the easiest way.
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: It might be easiest, but it doesn't get there.
- 1:48:47Speaker 6: Well, you do it whatever way the organization does it.
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: Now we have FedEx upstairs.
- 1:48:51Speaker 3: I'll do it for FedEx from now.
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: And this is the way Nicole had told me to
- 1:48:53Speaker 1: do before. She's not here anymore. Alex writes in he's
- 1:48:59Speaker 1: in North Carol. I like to say I like Paul's
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: new spot feels like he has a new swagger sitting
- 1:49:04Speaker 1: in a new spot. Plus, now we can have heated
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: debates head on.
- 1:49:08Speaker 6: Yes, confidence is my issue.
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: Excited to see what the Wolf and Mayo are building
- 1:49:13Speaker 1: in this new next generation of the Patriots. I'm going
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: to miss what was the Patriots I grew up with,
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: and like Paul says, they keep taking rocket shots at
- 1:49:21Speaker 1: the previous regime. So we can assume that should be
- 1:49:25Speaker 1: no more. From a defensive standpoint, how much do you
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: think Bill not being part of the team affects how
- 1:49:30Speaker 1: well the defense is prepared? I think it has.
- 1:49:33Speaker 9: That's interesting, Yeah, that is that's a you know, you
- 1:49:36Speaker 9: know how I like to say last year the defense
- 1:49:39Speaker 9: was well down the list of anything that was wrong. Yeah,
- 1:49:42Speaker 9: that's probably a very secondary, minor concern, but it's a concern.
- 1:49:47Speaker 1: Well, there's a lot of pressure on DeMarcus Covington.
- 1:49:49Speaker 9: Right, and how much you know, how much of that
- 1:49:52Speaker 9: defense's success was because Bill Jess knows how to shut
- 1:49:56Speaker 9: down another team.
- 1:49:57Speaker 1: And at the first sign of a crack, Oh, Bill's
- 1:50:01Speaker 1: not here anymore, and it's you know, DeMarcus Covington's gonna
- 1:50:04Speaker 1: get a lot of blame, but fair or fair, you know,
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: whether it's fair or not.
- 1:50:09Speaker 9: So you know maybe in that regard, you know, well,
- 1:50:12Speaker 9: I mean, it's it's going to be interesting, I think
- 1:50:15Speaker 9: if there's because you know that I am not like
- 1:50:18Speaker 9: one hundred percent believer in the defense.
- 1:50:19Speaker 6: I think they're fine.
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: Yeah, you didn't think that.
- 1:50:21Speaker 6: I think they're fine.
- 1:50:22Speaker 9: I don't think there's anything wrong with I think there
- 1:50:23Speaker 9: are a very good defense in the current NFL.
- 1:50:26Speaker 6: Yeah, you know, they're not a problem.
- 1:50:29Speaker 9: But it will be interesting if they are not as
- 1:50:31Speaker 9: good as they were right, which may be you know,
- 1:50:35Speaker 9: painfully obvious, but it may just be well, you played
- 1:50:38Speaker 9: more good teams with good offenses, right, which I really think,
- 1:50:41Speaker 9: you know, like last year, if you played the Jets
- 1:50:43Speaker 9: with Rogers twice, maybe they scored more points than they
- 1:50:46Speaker 9: did against you.
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: You know what I mean. Well, that's where, you know,
- 1:50:49Speaker 1: and we've said it over the last few years with
- 1:50:51Speaker 1: you know, where the Patriots aren't as good as they
- 1:50:54Speaker 1: used to be. It's really important for us to be
- 1:50:57Speaker 1: as objective as we can be in our analysis, you know,
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: more so than when they're winning every game and you
- 1:51:05Speaker 1: don't really need to be because.
- 1:51:06Speaker 9: Right, and then when you try to be objective then,
- 1:51:08Speaker 9: and believe me, you know, that's what Andy and I
- 1:51:10Speaker 9: used to try to do, is like be balanced and
- 1:51:12Speaker 9: look at both sides. You sound like you're you're just
- 1:51:15Speaker 9: bitching for the sake of bitching, or trying to be
- 1:51:18Speaker 9: a contrarian r like, oh, they're twelve and four, they're
- 1:51:21Speaker 9: in the AFC Championship game, and this jerk is trying
- 1:51:23Speaker 9: to talk about how they're not that good. It's not
- 1:51:25Speaker 9: really what we were doing, but it can be perceived
- 1:51:28Speaker 9: that way. It can definitely be sure. I tell you
- 1:51:31Speaker 9: the story all the time about Billy Oh making fun
- 1:51:32Speaker 9: of us for that. Yeah, you know at the combine
- 1:51:34Speaker 9: when he was with Houston, he goes YouTube and he
- 1:51:37Speaker 9: didn't say, guys, YouTube a holes.
- 1:51:42Speaker 1: Really he gave it to you, huh.
- 1:51:43Speaker 2: No.
- 1:51:43Speaker 9: It was very lighthearted, tongue in cheek, but when there
- 1:51:47Speaker 9: was a message there, like I hear these reports from
- 1:51:50Speaker 9: you guys, I.
- 1:51:51Speaker 6: Don't know how you do it. I don't know how
- 1:51:52Speaker 6: you find negative stuff.
- 1:51:54Speaker 1: Someone in the Bay Area. I normally listen in excuse me,
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: wo okay Banana and the tail p No. I normally
- 1:52:02Speaker 1: listen in on the live audio, But today I decided
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: to watch the video. While I'm watching. A couple of times,
- 1:52:08Speaker 1: the audio only feed will start playing while simultaneously playing
- 1:52:11Speaker 1: the video. I don't know if it's an app issue
- 1:52:14Speaker 1: or just a meat problem. Not as bad of an
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: issue as walking into a Mexican hotel with porn under
- 1:52:20Speaker 1: the channel, well the first three, first three channels. But
- 1:52:23Speaker 1: it's the first.
- 1:52:24Speaker 6: Three channels, you know how.
- 1:52:25Speaker 1: It's like so every time you put on the TV. So,
- 1:52:28Speaker 1: you know how, like hotels they'll have the TV on
- 1:52:31Speaker 1: their their station, which is like one and two of
- 1:52:34Speaker 1: the hotel station. So you go in, it's nice music
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: and the showing pictures on the ground, jump starre. So
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: you go up one in the channels like whoa you know,
- 1:52:45Speaker 1: oh is that? What is that?
- 1:52:47Speaker 3: You would think you'd have to like hit some type
- 1:52:49Speaker 3: of channel, some button that's like it's high I'm over eighteen.
- 1:52:54Speaker 1: Disclaimer your date of birth.
- 1:52:57Speaker 8: Yeah, put your credit card in because you probably have
- 1:52:59Speaker 8: to pay for those channels or something.
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: What you do, I don't know.
- 1:53:03Speaker 8: I certainly do not.
- 1:53:04Speaker 6: Know how that works.
- 1:53:05Speaker 4: Yeah, you do have to put credit cards in.
- 1:53:08Speaker 1: Not in this place anyway. I love the Mike Mamula
- 1:53:11Speaker 1: name drop growing growing up in South Jersey Eagles Country,
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: I definitely remember him. That brings up this question. Over
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: the last twenty years, the Patriots avoided these types of
- 1:53:21Speaker 1: workout warriors. Did you see this potentially changing? Do you
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: see this potentially changing? Yeah?
- 1:53:28Speaker 9: I think that it's always wise to avoid a workout
- 1:53:31Speaker 9: warrior whose play is not commensurate with his workout numbers,
- 1:53:37Speaker 9: which was Mamola right, Like he was an okay player
- 1:53:41Speaker 9: at PC, but not a top ten kind of player
- 1:53:45Speaker 9: at PC. So I think you always want to avoid that.
- 1:53:48Speaker 9: I don't think the Patriots will do that more now
- 1:53:51Speaker 9: because they're scouting differently. I think you got to go
- 1:53:54Speaker 9: with production, you know, in the in the tape, if
- 1:53:58Speaker 9: you just try to project and say, well, this guy
- 1:54:00Speaker 9: should be better than he is, he's really that's when
- 1:54:02Speaker 9: you get into the like you want to look at
- 1:54:05Speaker 9: like a workout warrior draft two years ago, Yeah, with
- 1:54:09Speaker 9: with Cole Strange and Taekwon Thornton and Pierre Strong and
- 1:54:12Speaker 9: like they had the fastest in their positions at a
- 1:54:15Speaker 9: lot of different those are workout guys yea, And unfortunately,
- 1:54:19Speaker 9: you know, none of them really panned out.
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: Dan and Virginia Michigan does Paul have any warm wishes
- 1:54:24Speaker 1: for his esteemed colleague in the sports media, Peter King,
- 1:54:28Speaker 1: upon the announcement of his retirement. So it's what Peter King.
- 1:54:33Speaker 9: We have an inside joke here that Fred and I
- 1:54:37Speaker 9: and are esteemed cohort Matt no socks. We like to
- 1:54:42Speaker 9: immediately jump on a text threat and say, make sure
- 1:54:46Speaker 9: you take the time out to get on Twitter and
- 1:54:48Speaker 9: wish so and so, you know, a happy retirement, because
- 1:54:53Speaker 9: rather than just like you know, calling them yourself or
- 1:54:56Speaker 9: texting them yourself, you have to show everybody else in
- 1:54:59Speaker 9: the world that you know him, right, which to me
- 1:55:02Speaker 9: is always grand standing in social media, right, you know,
- 1:55:06Speaker 9: and I remember, you know, he was so good to
- 1:55:08Speaker 9: me as a young report Like, so that's not really about.
- 1:55:10Speaker 8: People like dedicating their careers.
- 1:55:12Speaker 6: Yeah right, that's not really about Peter King. That's really
- 1:55:14Speaker 6: about you call them correct.
- 1:55:18Speaker 9: So, so Fred and I and Matt we like to
- 1:55:21Speaker 9: sort of poke fun at that. This is an indicator.
- 1:55:23Speaker 9: This is a situation. I honestly, I've met Peter King
- 1:55:27Speaker 9: a handful of times, but never really formally, you know,
- 1:55:31Speaker 9: I in passing.
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: I don't know him.
- 1:55:34Speaker 6: I don't know him. I don't know him at all
- 1:55:35Speaker 6: other than his column.
- 1:55:38Speaker 9: So I don't really have, you know, and I know
- 1:55:40Speaker 9: that that was tongue in cheek the email, but I
- 1:55:42Speaker 9: do find it funny. Like everybody, like I was like yesterday,
- 1:55:46Speaker 9: I was like, huh, Peter King retire. I wouldn't know,
- 1:55:49Speaker 9: you know, it was like literally fifty different people all
- 1:55:54Speaker 9: regaling you with the same story about how good And
- 1:55:56Speaker 9: I'm sure he's I'm sure he's a wonderful guy, you
- 1:55:59Speaker 9: know behind the scenes.
- 1:56:00Speaker 1: I'm sure that all these people bad things about us during.
- 1:56:02Speaker 9: But I'm sure that all these people were telling the truth,
- 1:56:04Speaker 9: Like you know Albert Breer who worked with him, which
- 1:56:06Speaker 9: to me is a little different because he did actually
- 1:56:08Speaker 9: work side by side with Peter King at s I
- 1:56:11Speaker 9: but talk to Peter, right, But if you have that
- 1:56:14Speaker 9: to say, yeah, or if you want to write it
- 1:56:17Speaker 9: in your column or something like that, I mean, I
- 1:56:19Speaker 9: get that, Yeah.
- 1:56:21Speaker 8: He's from Springfield. I'm from Springfield.
- 1:56:23Speaker 3: I'm not going to write an essay about him like
- 1:56:25Speaker 3: paving the way from Springfield.
- 1:56:27Speaker 9: For me, I've never met the guy. Like, I'm not
- 1:56:29Speaker 9: going to go on Twitter and pretend you know.
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: The other one I like is the young kids now
- 1:56:34Speaker 1: I'm I'm I'm just want to let the world know
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: that I'll be leaving my job of those and I'll
- 1:56:39Speaker 1: be I have a great opportunity. I'm going to so
- 1:56:42Speaker 1: and so.
- 1:56:42Speaker 6: I can't say it. Yeah news, got big news.
- 1:56:45Speaker 8: Coming excited to share what's next?
- 1:56:47Speaker 1: Okay, if you have people you want to tell that,
- 1:56:49Speaker 1: to send an email to those people, you know, but
- 1:56:52Speaker 1: they have to go on social media and you know,
- 1:56:54Speaker 1: tell the world. And I know I sound like a boomer.
- 1:56:58Speaker 9: But you know, and I know we we do sound
- 1:57:00Speaker 9: like boomers. And I'm okay with it in this case.
- 1:57:02Speaker 9: But you also when you get let go, and I
- 1:57:04Speaker 9: don't I hate when people lose their jobs before anybody.
- 1:57:08Speaker 1: Today.
- 1:57:09Speaker 6: Yeah, so what are you doing that for? You're doing that?
- 1:57:13Speaker 9: So now one hundred of my followers will now tell
- 1:57:16Speaker 9: me that's not fair. One of the best in the business.
- 1:57:20Speaker 9: No one does it better. He won't be unemployed long Like.
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: Well, no, if if if I was young and I
- 1:57:26Speaker 1: got laid off, I would do it to say anyone
- 1:57:28Speaker 1: got a job.
- 1:57:29Speaker 6: Well, that's different. Yeah, that's different.
- 1:57:31Speaker 9: Like if you're solictening a job, Yes, that's a different
- 1:57:33Speaker 9: Why I would, But I'm just talking about like you're
- 1:57:35Speaker 9: just looking for the attention and social media. That's all
- 1:57:38Speaker 9: you're doing. It's transparent, Alex and her ilk and Dan.
- 1:57:42Speaker 1: Dan also says a number of people with them, A
- 1:57:46Speaker 1: number of people, including Paul, have noted key events in
- 1:57:49Speaker 1: the documentary that are not being covered. Isn't this series
- 1:57:53Speaker 1: largely a Patriots Mister Craft joint or at least heavily
- 1:57:56Speaker 1: influenced by them? If so, why aren't they covering these events? No,
- 1:58:00Speaker 1: it's not it. I mean it is. No, it isn't.
- 1:58:03Speaker 6: But it wasn't done by them, It wasn't.
- 1:58:05Speaker 1: Done by us. We cooperated, you know, they asked us
- 1:58:09Speaker 1: for material. We got him as much as we could,
- 1:58:11Speaker 1: just like they asked the NFL film they shot stuff here,
- 1:58:13Speaker 1: and Brady's people they asked for stuff. So we cooperated.
- 1:58:17Speaker 1: But like I can tell you that our PR guy
- 1:58:21Speaker 1: was petrified because he had no idea what was in
- 1:58:24Speaker 1: this thing, and he was really worried about what was
- 1:58:27Speaker 1: going to be in it. And I don't know if
- 1:58:28Speaker 1: he's still worried or not, but like he was. We
- 1:58:32Speaker 1: didn't know how this was going to come out. We
- 1:58:34Speaker 1: had no something it's in a side.
- 1:58:37Speaker 3: But I was just the Mass General Hospital press conference.
- 1:58:40Speaker 3: At the end of it, Stacey goes, Okay, thank you
- 1:58:42Speaker 3: very much, and he says it the same way he
- 1:58:44Speaker 3: still says it.
- 1:58:46Speaker 8: It was just it was another jump scare for me.
- 1:58:48Speaker 1: I was like, oh my god, that's a scare that.
- 1:58:51Speaker 6: You're getting that one.
- 1:58:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:58:54Speaker 6: See, yeah, I try to get all these in my
- 1:58:56Speaker 6: in my repertoire.
- 1:58:58Speaker 1: All right, so hold on what jump scare?
- 1:59:02Speaker 6: That's that, Prescott, what you're just talking about?
- 1:59:03Speaker 8: Oh yeah, and you guys are you were sitting in
- 1:59:05Speaker 8: the front row.
