- 0:11Hello, friends. It's Shawn.
- 0:13Here it is. Monday.
- 0:15It's the 12th of May. Boy, that seemed like hard work
- 0:19to get out, didn't it? I I hope you are firing on more
- 0:22cylinders than I am on this Monday.
- 0:25Here we go. We are cracking on this week
- 0:29with the book of Hebrews. Yes, this wonderful exploration
- 0:33of just how phenomenal your Saviour actually is and
- 0:37everything that he has done for you.
- 0:40Wow, this is wonderful. And today we get to read about
- 0:44Jesus the Man. That's right, if this was a 60
- 0:48minutes episode, it would say you might know him as Jesus the
- 0:52God. But today we learn about Jesus
- 0:55the man. So how about we do just that?
- 0:59Let us read together the next chapter in our journey, Hebrews
- 1:03chapter 2. So we must listen very carefully
- 1:16to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it.
- 1:21For the message God delivered through angels has always stood
- 1:24firm, and every violation of the law and every act of
- 1:28disobedience was punished. So what makes us think we can
- 1:33escape if we ignore this great salvation that was first
- 1:37announced by the Lord Jesus himself and then delivered to us
- 1:41by those who heard Him speak? And God confirmed the message by
- 1:46giving signs and wonders and various miracles and gifts of
- 1:50the Holy Spirit whenever He chose.
- 1:55And furthermore, it is not angels who will control the
- 1:59future world we're talking about.
- 2:01For in one place the scriptures say what are mere mortals, that
- 2:07you should think about them, or a son of man that you should
- 2:11care for him. Yet for a little while you made
- 2:15them a little lower than the angels, and crowned them with
- 2:18glory and honour. You gave them authority over all
- 2:22things. Now when it says all things, it
- 2:27means nothing is left out, but we have not yet seen all things
- 2:32put under their authority. What we do see is Jesus, who for
- 2:37a little while was given the position a little lower than the
- 2:41angels, and because he suffered death for us, he is now crowned
- 2:46with glory and honour. Yes, by God's grace Jesus tasted
- 2:52death for everyone. God, for whom and through whom
- 2:59everything was made, chose to bring many children into glory,
- 3:04and it was only right that he should make Jesus, through his
- 3:08suffering, a perfect leader fit to bring them into their
- 3:12salvation. So now Jesus and the ones he
- 3:16makes holy have the same Father. That is why Jesus is not ashamed
- 3:22to call them his brothers and sisters.
- 3:26For he said to God, I will proclaim your name to my
- 3:30brothers and sisters. I will praise you among your
- 3:33assembled people. He also said, I will put my
- 3:38trust in him. That is I and the children God
- 3:42has given me. Because God's children are human
- 3:47beings made of flesh and blood. The sun also became flesh and
- 3:52blood, for only as a human being could he die, and only by dying
- 3:58could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of
- 4:02death. Only in this way could he set
- 4:05free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of
- 4:10dying. We also know that the Son did
- 4:13not come to help angels, He came to help the descendants of
- 4:17Abraham. Therefore, it was necessary for
- 4:21Him to be made in every respect like us, His brothers and
- 4:25sisters, so that He could be our merciful and faithful High
- 4:30Priest before God. Then He could offer a sacrifice
- 4:34and would take away the sins of the people.
- 4:37Since He himself has gone through suffering and testing,
- 4:41He is able to help us when we are being tested.
- 4:56Ah, Jesus, you have made it very, very certain that you are
- 5:01for us. You didn't sit in heaven with
- 5:05the theory that you proposed. No, you came here.
- 5:10You became our brother. You lived a life just as we did,
- 5:17and you suffered and you died for us.
- 5:22Jesus, through everything that you did, you have guaranteed for
- 5:26us a clear way to the Father, a clear way back to you to be
- 5:32fully restored and fully accepted into your family once
- 5:37more. We love you and we thank you,
- 5:41and we pray all of this in your saving name, Jesus, Amen.
