- 0:03Speaker 2: What it Do?
- 0:05Speaker 3: We back again the grounded show, Your Boy, lest Your Boy,
- 0:10Speaker 3: Joe FERNIESI and the Quintonomous himself Quincy Jamal.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Whatd do y'all boys?
- 0:19Speaker 1: A week a week episode acts, y'all.
- 0:24Speaker 2: I don't know if y'all seen the speaker at all lately, but.
- 0:29Speaker 3: We've been hitting some highs as far as people downloading
- 0:32Speaker 3: and stuff like that.
- 0:34Speaker 4: I haven't been on there.
- 0:35Speaker 3: I haven't been had our most active day on September thirtieth,
- 0:39Speaker 3: like of all time, like the most people that listen,
- 0:43Speaker 3: just just for the podcast itself.
- 0:45Speaker 2: The video has been doing great.
- 0:47Speaker 3: I mean that that hasn't stopped the video I'll posted
- 0:51Speaker 3: to you the other day. Quincy got us a few
- 0:53Speaker 3: followers too. I think it was the Vince mcmahone where
- 0:55Speaker 3: you talk about how he creates the storylines and everything.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:00Speaker 3: But yeah, man, today or not today? It was a
- 1:03Speaker 3: few days ago. I believe it was Friday. The baby
- 1:06Speaker 3: dropped a new project. Let me pull up the actual
- 1:09Speaker 3: name so I can give it its proper due and
- 1:12Speaker 3: I don't rush through it.
- 1:14Speaker 1: All right, It's not a baby, that's my baby.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Here all right? So here let me pull this up here.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Here we go, all right.
- 1:23Speaker 3: So on Friday, the Baby dropped his new project Paul.
- 1:28Speaker 3: How TF is this a mixtape?
- 1:31Speaker 1: So?
- 1:31Speaker 2: How rick is this a mixtape? I checked it out.
- 1:36Speaker 2: I'm a big Baby fan, my boy Danny. Shout out
- 1:39Speaker 2: to Danny.
- 1:41Speaker 3: He put me on him when he had like less
- 1:43Speaker 3: than twenty thousand followers, and he was like, Bro, this
- 1:45Speaker 3: dude is about to be the next guy. And literally,
- 1:48Speaker 3: like a couple months after that, the Baby was going crazy.
- 1:51Speaker 2: So I always liked his sound, his flow.
- 1:55Speaker 3: I thought he I really liked the way that he
- 1:58Speaker 3: captured the commercial sound, but he still was spitting, you
- 2:02Speaker 3: know what I mean.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Like that's the thing about the Baby that I love.
- 2:05Speaker 3: I always like hearing somebody that can put the songs
- 2:08Speaker 3: together well, but they're still rapping a ass off, you
- 2:12Speaker 3: know what I mean. I don't like when you sacrifice
- 2:15Speaker 3: one for the other. Like That's why I haven't been
- 2:17Speaker 3: such a big fan of the newer Kanye stuff, because
- 2:19Speaker 3: I feel like he's been just going off of feel
- 2:22Speaker 3: and production more than anything lately, and the lyrics haven't
- 2:26Speaker 3: been a focal point for him except for like when
- 2:28Speaker 3: he's specifically going through something that he's inspired, you know
- 2:31Speaker 3: what I mean.
- 2:32Speaker 5: Yeah, storytelling, He's just going good with the song now exactly.
- 2:36Speaker 2: So that's kind of like made me waiver.
- 2:39Speaker 3: On his newer stuff, it's really not anything that's going
- 2:42Speaker 3: on with him personally or whatever.
- 2:44Speaker 2: It's just the newer stuff.
- 2:46Speaker 3: Although it's been produced extremely well, which his music always
- 2:50Speaker 3: is produced extremely well, but you know, it just hasn't
- 2:53Speaker 3: been hitting like his usual stuff hits. But on this
- 2:56Speaker 3: the Baby project, I thought it was pretty dope. I
- 3:00Speaker 3: would say, first couple listens the new to Baby Project,
- 3:04Speaker 3: I would give it maybe like seven seven point five
- 3:08Speaker 3: out of ten, you know what I mean, Like it's
- 3:10Speaker 3: a little better, a little better than blah. Some definitely
- 3:15Speaker 3: some dope joints that you can add to your playlist.
- 3:17Speaker 2: I heard a couple.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Joints that definitely sound like they'll be good Jim playlist.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Songs, you know what I mean.
- 3:23Speaker 3: It was a dope vibe, but something that my ear
- 3:27Speaker 3: caught that maybe a lot of people might not catch.
- 3:31Speaker 2: If you don't really do music like that.
- 3:33Speaker 3: But you could tell the difference in quality on this
- 3:38Speaker 3: project versus his previous projects. And it's not something horribly
- 3:43Speaker 3: wrong or terrible or anything like that. It still sounds great,
- 3:47Speaker 3: still great production. He's still doing his thing, but you
- 3:50Speaker 3: can definitely tell him the mixes that they weren't mixed
- 3:54Speaker 3: by the same people, and if they were, it has
- 3:56Speaker 3: a completely different sound in his previous music.
- 3:59Speaker 2: And it kind of.
- 3:59Speaker 3: Led me to think, just because my assumption is he
- 4:04Speaker 3: went through all that stuff, you know, all the controversy
- 4:06Speaker 3: that happened at his concert, things that he said, you know,
- 4:09Speaker 3: incidents that he got into that kind of slowed him
- 4:12Speaker 3: down as far as how big of an act he was,
- 4:15Speaker 3: you know what I mean, Like he's not the baby
- 4:17Speaker 3: that he was, you know four or five years ago,
- 4:20Speaker 3: where he was the number one guy breaking records, you know,
- 4:23Speaker 3: crazy records. Everybody wanted him on a record like he
- 4:26Speaker 3: was the guy. He ain't the guy no more. He
- 4:28Speaker 3: lost all that. So the music has a different feel
- 4:32Speaker 3: to it, and you can tell that the team is
- 4:36Speaker 3: probably not as huge, and the budget isn't as huge
- 4:41Speaker 3: as it was before, and the sound is a lot
- 4:44Speaker 3: different in the project. Like I said, it's not a
- 4:47Speaker 3: bad thing. I'm not complaining about it, but I did
- 4:50Speaker 3: notice it right literally as soon as his voice dropped
- 4:52Speaker 3: on the first song, I'm like, oh, this is not
- 4:54Speaker 3: the same guy that was mixing the other stuff, you
- 4:57Speaker 3: know what I mean? And like I said, if it is,
- 4:58Speaker 3: they're going for a different sound. But it kind of
- 5:02Speaker 3: just led me to think about how many artists and
- 5:05Speaker 3: how many groups and just people that put out music.
- 5:09Speaker 2: A lot of people hear a project or a couple
- 5:11Speaker 2: of songs.
- 5:11Speaker 3: From somebody and they say, dang man, why they can't
- 5:14Speaker 3: just make more music like this, or why they can't
- 5:17Speaker 3: just stick to this sound or whatever. A lot of
- 5:19Speaker 3: times that's not the artist's decision, you know what I mean.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Like sometimes an artist get gets put with a producer,
- 5:26Speaker 3: gets put with an engineer, just get put with a songwriter,
- 5:29Speaker 3: and they're just instructed, Hey, you're working with this person,
- 5:34Speaker 3: and this is wherever they're going to lead your sound
- 5:36Speaker 3: is that that's where it's going to go.
- 5:39Speaker 2: So you hear that, and a lot of.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Artists, especially big artists or first projects, there's a lot
- 5:44Speaker 3: of songwriters in the room. There's a lot of songs
- 5:46Speaker 3: that they're bringing to them ready, because a lot of
- 5:49Speaker 3: times with an artist, they'll get a song where it's
- 5:51Speaker 3: like a.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Beating a hook or something, you know what I mean.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Or a beating, you know, the first couple of bars
- 5:56Speaker 3: or a melody of like the verse, you know what
- 5:58Speaker 3: I'm saying, And the artists just kind of off that.
- 6:01Speaker 3: So when you're a smaller artist, you're not getting you know,
- 6:06Speaker 3: twenty people sending you a sample or something that you
- 6:10Speaker 3: might want to drop because you're not.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Gonna do nothing for them, you know what I mean.
- 6:14Speaker 3: If you're a smaller artist, getting a placement with you
- 6:17Speaker 3: doesn't do nothing for anybody, So they're just going to
- 6:20Speaker 3: try to bring it to whoever's hot. So you're not
- 6:25Speaker 3: choosing through as many songs one. You're not getting the
- 6:30Speaker 3: same quality as songs too, because you're not you know,
- 6:32Speaker 3: you don't have an unlimited budget for the producer and
- 6:35Speaker 3: the songwriter and whoever's going to be the feature. And
- 6:40Speaker 3: you know, there's there's a lot of different reasons, but
- 6:44Speaker 3: the idea is this, whenever you hear an artist and
- 6:48Speaker 3: you hear their music and you feel like that's their vibe,
- 6:51Speaker 3: and then you see that they have a change in
- 6:53Speaker 3: their sound or something, a lot of times that's not
- 6:56Speaker 3: the artist's decision. They're just not working with the person
- 6:59Speaker 3: that was giving them that formula anymore. So that's why
- 7:03Speaker 3: if you notice a lot of people with Prince, especially
- 7:06Speaker 3: artists will give him the nod over Michael Jackson. Like
- 7:10Speaker 3: artists will just kind of like they're almost very quick
- 7:14Speaker 3: to say Prince over Michael, you know what I mean,
- 7:16Speaker 3: which is kind of like weird when it kind of
- 7:18Speaker 3: brings you back, like dang, you're so quick to say
- 7:20Speaker 3: Prince is better than Michael Jackson when you traditionally don't
- 7:23Speaker 3: think of Prince as a hit maker on the level
- 7:25Speaker 3: that Michael Jackson is.
- 7:27Speaker 2: But you're talking.
- 7:29Speaker 3: About a guy that did his music A through Z
- 7:32Speaker 3: because he literally could play every instrument. He's writing the
- 7:36Speaker 3: music as far as the melodies, as far as the instrumentation,
- 7:39Speaker 3: he's writing the songs themselves, he's arranging everything because he
- 7:43Speaker 3: can play every instrument. So he's basically laying out the
- 7:48Speaker 3: sound in the groove and saying, all right, let's put
- 7:49Speaker 3: it together like this. There's a lot more value in
- 7:52Speaker 3: that than just, you know, somebody like on Michael Jackson
- 7:56Speaker 3: that has a great producer with him, and the producer
- 7:58Speaker 3: might be coming to him with songs that already have
- 8:01Speaker 3: like a B and a melody kind of going, or
- 8:04Speaker 3: they'll take something that he made and just turned it
- 8:06Speaker 3: into you know, something ten times better than what the
- 8:09Speaker 3: reference was, you know what I'm saying. And something that
- 8:13Speaker 3: Prince actually told Nas before was he wouldn't collaborate with
- 8:18Speaker 3: Nas because Nas didn't own his masters, and Prince owned
- 8:21Speaker 3: his masters because he knew that he's doing a to
- 8:26Speaker 3: e on the music, so he's not gonna let somebody
- 8:28Speaker 3: else make money off of what he's literally doing everything for.
- 8:34Speaker 3: So I thought it was kind of interesting, and like
- 8:37Speaker 3: one of the artists that kind of stands out in
- 8:39Speaker 3: my mind is like just because you know, it's like
- 8:42Speaker 3: a recent thing that I've been listening to.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Also is Chingy that first album.
- 8:47Speaker 3: I think the first album went like triple platinum, like
- 8:49Speaker 3: at the time, you know, which it was like a
- 8:51Speaker 3: short amount of time and he went like double or
- 8:53Speaker 3: triple platinum. It was that time where like a lot
- 8:56Speaker 3: of artists were going platinum, you know what I mean.
- 8:59Speaker 2: But it does take away.
- 9:00Speaker 3: That he had a super dope project and he had
- 9:03Speaker 3: a lot of bangers on it, and then after that
- 9:05Speaker 3: he was never able to make any kind of music
- 9:08Speaker 3: on any level.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Of that first album, yep.
- 9:11Speaker 3: And it's like, yeah, because after the first album, he
- 9:13Speaker 3: fizzled out and he don't got those people behind him
- 9:16Speaker 3: giving him little songs anymore.
- 9:18Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I mean, and I think that, you know,
- 9:22Speaker 6: you can think about that from not just the music
- 9:26Speaker 6: standboard point, but from any standpoint. You know, when kind
- 9:28Speaker 6: of when you mentioned the baby and all his antics
- 9:32Speaker 6: that was happening, that kind of caused his like downfall.
- 9:36Speaker 1: You know.
- 9:36Speaker 6: The first thing I started thinking about to myself was,
- 9:39Speaker 6: you know, aside from this new Bad Boys movie, what
- 9:41Speaker 6: has Will.
- 9:42Speaker 4: Smith done since the Chris Rock slab?
- 9:44Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 9:45Speaker 6: And I just kind of went on. I went to
- 9:46Speaker 6: kind of look it up, and to be honest with you,
- 9:50Speaker 6: there hasn't been much. I mean, he produced bel Air,
- 9:54Speaker 6: you know, but as far as movie rolls, there hasn't
- 9:58Speaker 6: really been anything except Bad Boys, right, And if you
- 10:00Speaker 6: think about it, Bad Boys just dropped a couple of
- 10:03Speaker 6: months ago. The slap happened early twenty twenty two. How
- 10:07Speaker 6: do you how do we not know that that was
- 10:09Speaker 6: his plan to, Hey, I'm gonna give him this, this
- 10:12Speaker 6: will be my comeback, you know what I mean?
- 10:14Speaker 1: How do we know? You know?
- 10:15Speaker 2: And it's funny you mentioned that because recently I.
- 10:19Speaker 3: Kind of noticed because I listened to a lot of
- 10:23Speaker 3: comedy related stuff. I noticed that all these comedians bro.
- 10:27Speaker 3: They are still united in saying f Will Smith bro.
- 10:30Speaker 3: Like anytime he's brought up or anytime somebody talks about that,
- 10:33Speaker 3: it's like they're all dedicated to not mess with will
- 10:37Speaker 3: Smith right now. Like all the comedians kind of banded
- 10:40Speaker 3: together with that. And I thought that was interesting because
- 10:43Speaker 3: based off what you said too, Quincy, I wonder how
- 10:45Speaker 3: many people are actually doing that also, where they're kind
- 10:48Speaker 3: of just saying, you know, subconsciously or maybe even out loud,
- 10:50Speaker 3: like now, I'm not gonna consume any Will Smith content
- 10:53Speaker 3: for a little while because I don't like how that
- 10:55Speaker 3: went down.
- 10:56Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, like I said, I'm looking at the
- 10:58Speaker 6: IMDb right now, and Emancipation was a movie that was
- 11:02Speaker 6: literally done being produced when that happened. And aside from that,
- 11:06Speaker 6: he doesn't have anything but bad Boys, right or not?
- 11:10Speaker 4: That was too over two years ago.
- 11:12Speaker 6: And come on, like, I mean, there was a time
- 11:15Speaker 6: when Will Smith was dropping three movies a year.
- 11:17Speaker 2: You know.
- 11:18Speaker 3: Yeah, his career kind of like ebbs and flows too,
- 11:22Speaker 3: because he'll have like a successful period then like you said,
- 11:26Speaker 3: he'll try to drop a few movies in a year
- 11:28Speaker 3: and then they flop and he's kind of cold again.
- 11:31Speaker 2: He's always been up and down.
- 11:33Speaker 3: As far as his box office success is concerned, you
- 11:38Speaker 3: know what I mean.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Like it's weird.
- 11:40Speaker 3: It's weird, how like kind of with the baby too, man,
- 11:42Speaker 3: Like you just sometimes are the guys, sometimes you're not
- 11:46Speaker 3: the guy. You can't really predict when or where it happens.
- 11:49Speaker 3: Like because even with the Bad Boys movie that was
- 11:52Speaker 3: off the charts hit and I think it was the
- 11:54Speaker 3: biggest movie of the year. Yeah, so it's like people
- 11:56Speaker 3: thought that he was gonna fold after that, but then
- 11:58Speaker 3: it's like, nah, he came up with one of the
- 12:00Speaker 3: few super strong movies of the year.
- 12:02Speaker 2: At the box office. So it's like did it really
- 12:05Speaker 2: did it really hurt him? You know what I mean.
- 12:07Speaker 6: But it was a smart move though, because that's a
- 12:09Speaker 6: movie that it was a safe move. It was a
- 12:12Speaker 6: safe bet, you know what I mean, rather than him
- 12:14Speaker 6: going and doing a whole new concept.
- 12:17Speaker 4: You know, there's the fans of the Bad Boys series.
- 12:19Speaker 3: I mean, I think that was already in the works anyway,
- 12:21Speaker 3: Like regardless of the slap or not, like that was
- 12:23Speaker 3: going to happen at that time.
- 12:24Speaker 1: I don't know, but I remember.
- 12:27Speaker 4: I remember when they announced it.
- 12:28Speaker 6: It was after the Slap, Yeah, when they announced that
- 12:30Speaker 6: they were in production, it was after the Slap.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Yeah, they were still filming in Miami. Yeah.
- 12:35Speaker 5: It's gonna say there might be some stuff in the
- 12:36Speaker 5: cut that he's holding back till it off really boils
- 12:38Speaker 5: over because he's not rolling anything out during that. But
- 12:41Speaker 5: the other thing, you know, how many people are in
- 12:43Speaker 5: love with Chris Rock still to this day. What's Chris
- 12:46Speaker 5: Rock doing that? You know, he's now he got something,
- 12:48Speaker 5: but at that point, what did he have?
- 12:51Speaker 3: I actually, my father in law went to see Chris
- 12:54Speaker 3: Rock a few years ago at the Doctor.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Phillips Center here in Orlando, and he ain't like it.
- 13:02Speaker 3: Chris Rock was coming off of his divorce, and I
- 13:06Speaker 3: think Chris Rock even said in an interview after like
- 13:08Speaker 3: that he was just like in a bad space at
- 13:09Speaker 3: that time. So it came across in the in the act,
- 13:13Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. And my father in law
- 13:15Speaker 3: is a huge Chris Rock fan. He loves all his
- 13:17Speaker 3: stand ups, all everything that he's done, basically, but when
- 13:20Speaker 3: he went to see him, he was just disappointed. Because
- 13:22Speaker 3: of like the energy and the and the you know
- 13:25Speaker 3: what he brought to the table.
- 13:28Speaker 2: But yeah, man, yeah, it's it's just kind of crazy.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Like obviously in the wake of all this P Diddy
- 13:35Speaker 3: stuff going down and the rumors that a whole bunch
- 13:38Speaker 3: of people are kind of like laying low seeing where
- 13:40Speaker 3: the chips are going.
- 13:41Speaker 2: To, you know, where everything's gonna fall.
- 13:44Speaker 3: It kind of just makes you think about the whole
- 13:47Speaker 3: idea of Hollywood and entertainment where.
- 13:50Speaker 2: It's just like you're really just a slave to your perception,
- 13:54Speaker 2: you know what I mean, Like your your whole.
- 13:57Speaker 3: Existence basically trying to craft it the way that you
- 14:00Speaker 3: would like it to be. But at the end of
- 14:02Speaker 3: the day, you can't control anything, like the same way
- 14:05Speaker 3: you can't make something go viral, the same way you
- 14:08Speaker 3: can't make somebody a star, you know what I'm saying.
- 14:11Speaker 3: There's so many stories of artists that had five hundred thousand,
- 14:15Speaker 3: a million dollars spent on them doing everything, getting them
- 14:18Speaker 3: the best feature. You know, the same thing we talked
- 14:20Speaker 3: about with the baby, Like people think, oh, if I
- 14:23Speaker 3: had that situation, I would do the same thing. Not necessarily, bro,
- 14:26Speaker 3: because it's happened for plenty of people that they gave
- 14:29Speaker 3: them the same kind of setup, they gave them the
- 14:31Speaker 3: same everything, and they just weren't able to do it
- 14:34Speaker 3: because they just didn't have that thing that made people say, Yo,
- 14:38Speaker 3: I rock.
- 14:39Speaker 2: With this person, you know. And it's kind of crazy, man, because.
- 14:46Speaker 3: Just the way that I don't know, Man, I don't
- 14:48Speaker 3: think I could like somebody like a Will Smith, where
- 14:52Speaker 3: you know, how much he eats is determined by how
- 14:55Speaker 3: much people rock with him at the time, you know
- 14:58Speaker 3: what I mean. Obviously at this point he ain't lacking
- 15:01Speaker 3: for food or he ain't in need of anything. But
- 15:05Speaker 3: at the same time, bro, you know, it must not
- 15:08Speaker 3: be cool to have to do that, you know what
- 15:11Speaker 3: I'm saying, to just have to be kind of on
- 15:13Speaker 3: your toes and be like, all right, I gotta do
- 15:15Speaker 3: this this kind of way every single time because the
- 15:20Speaker 3: way I make money depends on it.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Right, What do y'all think about that?
- 15:24Speaker 6: I mean, I've always said that if I was ever
- 15:26Speaker 6: to become successful via music, I wouldn't want to be
- 15:29Speaker 6: on that platform because I already know that that's what
- 15:32Speaker 6: comes with it. You know, I'd rather be on the
- 15:34Speaker 6: platform or somebody like a currency who's very under the radar,
- 15:39Speaker 6: and you know, he has his audience and he makes
- 15:42Speaker 6: his money doing what he loves to do.
- 15:44Speaker 1: I don't.
- 15:45Speaker 6: I would prefer that than being super super popular and
- 15:49Speaker 6: being a slave to what people think of me, you know.
- 15:51Speaker 1: What I mean.
- 15:51Speaker 3: Yeah, And before Joe jumps in, I was just gonna
- 15:54Speaker 3: mention about currency. He has a quote along the lines
- 15:56Speaker 3: of he's successful in face missing enough that he can
- 16:00Speaker 3: buy whatever he wants, but he could also still go
- 16:03Speaker 3: to the grocery store and pick something up and nobody
- 16:05Speaker 3: bother him, you know exactly. But yeah, what do you
- 16:08Speaker 3: think about that, Joe?
- 16:10Speaker 5: I agree, man, And you know, there's a certain level
- 16:12Speaker 5: that I would never want to reach because once you
- 16:15Speaker 5: reset level, people gonna expect you to be that person
- 16:18Speaker 5: every single time they see the street. And that's what
- 16:19Speaker 5: majority of celebrities go through now that they hate.
- 16:22Speaker 2: You know.
- 16:24Speaker 5: It's something that I definitely whatever if I was ever
- 16:28Speaker 5: in some kind of entertainment field, that I would hold back.
- 16:32Speaker 5: It's like, naw, this is gonna make me bigger than
- 16:34Speaker 5: that I even desire to be.
- 16:36Speaker 6: I mean, I put it in the chat the other day,
- 16:38Speaker 6: not really as a joke, but I was just actually
- 16:40Speaker 6: genuinely curious on your thoughts of it. When I asked,
- 16:43Speaker 6: I was like, Yo, do y'all think like Drake is
- 16:45Speaker 6: gonna bounce back from this whole situation? And the only
- 16:48Speaker 6: reason I'm bringing this up is because we all know
- 16:50Speaker 6: that he is a slave to his perception, you know
- 16:52Speaker 6: what I mean?
- 16:53Speaker 1: Do you think? And that's why I was. I saw that,
- 16:56Speaker 1: but I was tied up.
- 16:57Speaker 5: Do you think he's he's in a place where he
- 16:59Speaker 5: needs to bounce facts He's dropped like six seven singles
- 17:03Speaker 5: since the beef.
- 17:04Speaker 4: The crazy part it is, is that coming?
- 17:06Speaker 6: And I'm glad you asked that, because from my perspective,
- 17:10Speaker 6: he's not. But from his perspective, that's a whole other conversation,
- 17:14Speaker 6: because if you love the popularity and your image is tarnished,
- 17:19Speaker 6: how do you respond?
- 17:20Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 17:21Speaker 5: But turnish to the people. I think it turns to
- 17:23Speaker 5: people who never really big fans of him.
- 17:25Speaker 6: But that's what I'm saying me and you, we may
- 17:28Speaker 6: not care about that, You get what I'm saying, Somebody
- 17:31Speaker 6: like Drake might Actually I'm just just on the outside.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Look, you know what I mean.
- 17:36Speaker 2: I see where both of y'all are coming from.
- 17:38Speaker 3: But I feel like Drake himself hasn't even tested the
- 17:40Speaker 3: water to see where he stands.
- 17:42Speaker 1: You feel what I'm saying. That's what I mean.
- 17:44Speaker 3: I think it popped out to the degree that he
- 17:46Speaker 3: popped out before, like doing different things. He hasn't really
- 17:49Speaker 3: been in the mix, kind of like you were saying
- 17:51Speaker 3: with Will Smith, like maybe he's being strategic right now,
- 17:54Speaker 3: the same way were talking about with Will Smith. Let
- 17:56Speaker 3: me not they mean, not do too many things at
- 17:58Speaker 3: the same time, you know, I mean, let me, let me,
- 18:01Speaker 3: let me wait this out, you know what I mean.
- 18:03Speaker 3: Maybe he's just kind of waiting for the dust to settle.
- 18:08Speaker 1: And that's what I mean.
- 18:08Speaker 5: I think the people who still not listen to him
- 18:10Speaker 5: and still talk shit that he lost, or the people
- 18:13Speaker 5: who just never really listened to him before.
- 18:15Speaker 1: I think it's the same crowd.
- 18:17Speaker 2: I definitely feel like.
- 18:21Speaker 5: And then there's people who I know never liked him
- 18:23Speaker 5: that are still talking about the beef to this day.
- 18:27Speaker 3: I do feel like as far as pop culture goes,
- 18:29Speaker 3: and people that like maybe were Drake fans, but just
- 18:33Speaker 3: on a superficial level, like as far as like just.
- 18:35Speaker 2: When they hear him on the radio, they like his joints.
- 18:38Speaker 3: I definitely feel like Drake lost that cool factor to
- 18:41Speaker 3: like the popular crowd, you know what I'm saying, Like
- 18:43Speaker 3: they're gonna feel like Kendrick is cooler right now, like
- 18:47Speaker 3: just from what I see, Like even like with my crowd,
- 18:51Speaker 3: you know what i mean, Like my kids kind of
- 18:53Speaker 3: look at Drake like you know, like a punchline right now,
- 18:56Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. They would never have felt
- 18:58Speaker 3: like that about Drake before, you know what I'm saying.
- 19:00Speaker 3: But now he's kind of like the butt of the
- 19:02Speaker 3: joke for a lot of like you know kids, like
- 19:05Speaker 3: I said, bro, like the kids in middle school, high school,
- 19:08Speaker 3: just because I hear it from my kids, like they're
- 19:10Speaker 3: they're they're clowning them, you know what I'm saying.
- 19:12Speaker 2: He definitely lost some of that coolness, you know what
- 19:14Speaker 2: I mean.
- 19:15Speaker 1: But that's what I mean. Did he Did he ever
- 19:17Speaker 1: have that coolness with them?
- 19:20Speaker 2: I definitely feel like he did.
- 19:21Speaker 4: Yeah, I definitely think he had it.
- 19:23Speaker 3: Drake was definitely and he still lives to a to
- 19:26Speaker 3: a big crowd, but he definitely was somebody that people
- 19:30Speaker 3: kind of like looked up to and stuff like that.
- 19:33Speaker 3: Like I definitely see it a lot, especially, like I said,
- 19:37Speaker 3: with you know, my kids and just seeing how they
- 19:41Speaker 3: interact with it and everything, like even like fashion wise,
- 19:44Speaker 3: like Drake was kind of like what people dress like,
- 19:47Speaker 3: like that Nike Tech thing and everything, Like all the
- 19:50Speaker 3: kids wearing the Nike Tech and being on that Nike
- 19:53Speaker 3: stuff and not really being on the Adidas too much.
- 19:56Speaker 2: That came from Drake, you know what i mean, Like
- 19:57Speaker 2: when Drake.
- 19:58Speaker 3: Started going at Adidas because lit the whole Kanye thing.
- 20:01Speaker 2: Like the kids drew a line too, you know what
- 20:03Speaker 2: I'm saying.
- 20:04Speaker 3: Like they're not like us that they'll that they'll buy
- 20:07Speaker 3: some some Jordan's and some Yeasies, you know what i mean.
- 20:10Speaker 3: Like it's kind of like how we was when we
- 20:12Speaker 3: was younger, when we was man mature. It's like, oh,
- 20:14Speaker 3: I'm not gonna listen to Jay Z because I like
- 20:15Speaker 3: NAS or vice versa, you know what I mean. Like
- 20:18Speaker 3: that was the same way we thought. That's how they
- 20:20Speaker 3: think too, you know what I'm saying. They was on
- 20:21Speaker 3: that that Nike tip because of Drake, you know.
- 20:23Speaker 2: What I mean.
- 20:24Speaker 3: I don't think right now, you know, they're they're emulating
- 20:27Speaker 3: Drake like they were at that time, you know.
- 20:30Speaker 5: I think that's that's perception of because of the crowd,
- 20:34Speaker 5: you know. And one thing I looked up and I
- 20:36Speaker 5: just got this number back again. He dropped three songs
- 20:39Speaker 5: on that hundred gigs website, right, three unreleased songs, and
- 20:42Speaker 5: he had it up there for him at least over
- 20:44Speaker 5: a month, and then U and G forced him to
- 20:47Speaker 5: take it down after everybody heard it ran to that
- 20:50Speaker 5: site because that site got flooded. Then it went on Spotify,
- 20:53Speaker 5: and he already has fourteen point three over fourteen point
- 20:56Speaker 5: three million listens on those three songs.
- 21:00Speaker 1: So where is it dying down? What crowd that matters
- 21:04Speaker 1: to him?
- 21:05Speaker 5: For the crowd that matters to him, his fan base
- 21:07Speaker 5: that he originally had. They listened to it for free
- 21:10Speaker 5: for a month and a half, and they went on
- 21:13Speaker 5: Spotify and they listened to it even more and they
- 21:15Speaker 5: saw exactly how many people were listening to it and
- 21:18Speaker 5: three more.
- 21:19Speaker 3: But the numbers ain't doing what they used to do
- 21:20Speaker 3: for sure. So the new singles, even the stuff that
- 21:23Speaker 3: he featured on, didn't do what it usually does. And
- 21:26Speaker 3: it kind of goes back to what we were talking
- 21:28Speaker 3: about about the cool factor thing, you know what I'm
- 21:30Speaker 3: saying maybe it's not hitting in his pockets, maybe it's not.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Hitting him like on a real day to day. But
- 21:35Speaker 2: when it.
- 21:36Speaker 3: Comes to that image, and that's what you use to
- 21:38Speaker 3: sell these brand deals, that's what you use to sell
- 21:41Speaker 3: out these things, you know what I'm saying, Like that
- 21:43Speaker 3: that front facing look of like, Okay, if this guy's involved,
- 21:48Speaker 3: it's going to do X, Y and Z. He hasn't
- 21:50Speaker 3: really tested the water to see like what kind of
- 21:53Speaker 3: level he's on. Just as far as like the fair
- 21:56Speaker 3: Weather fans go, because it's kind of like you said, the.
- 21:59Speaker 2: People that listen to they're always gonna be there.
- 22:01Speaker 3: Even if even if they felt like he lost the battle,
- 22:04Speaker 3: they're still gonna say he's still a better artist than
- 22:06Speaker 3: Kendrick because they make such opposite music that Kendrick beating
- 22:10Speaker 3: him in a rap battle is not gonna make any
- 22:12Speaker 3: difference for somebody that likes Drake because they're not gonna
- 22:14Speaker 3: get that sound from Kendrick. It's not like Kendrick beat
- 22:17Speaker 3: him and say okay, now follow me. It's like Kendrick
- 22:20Speaker 3: beat him and he kept doing his thing. So if
- 22:23Speaker 3: you're a fan of Kendrick, you're gonna be a fan
- 22:24Speaker 3: of Kendrick. If you're a fan of Drake, you're gonna
- 22:26Speaker 3: be a fan of Drake. It didn't really affect that.
- 22:28Speaker 3: But as far as like those fair weather fans, the
- 22:32Speaker 3: person that's just gonna randomly walk by see something and say, oh,
- 22:36Speaker 3: you know, let me let me get a ticket for
- 22:37Speaker 3: this to see a poster, you know, you know what
- 22:39Speaker 3: I'm saying. The people that aren't tapped in and just
- 22:42Speaker 3: know what they see from like how people talk about stuff.
- 22:47Speaker 2: That's where we really got to see if that's affected.
- 22:49Speaker 1: You know, if he really performs at the World Cup
- 22:52Speaker 1: in Toronto next.
- 22:54Speaker 4: Year, that would yeah, that would be interesting.
- 22:57Speaker 1: I would see why not. He's been linking with the
- 23:00Speaker 1: Fever president for weeks.
- 23:01Speaker 5: They linked like two days ago, and Toronto is hosting
- 23:04Speaker 5: one of the World Cup games.
- 23:06Speaker 2: Is it official or it's like a rumor right now?
- 23:09Speaker 3: Because I heard about it, Okay, because the way I
- 23:12Speaker 3: heard about it, the way I heard about it seemed
- 23:15Speaker 3: like it's already like a done deal, you know what
- 23:18Speaker 3: I mean?
- 23:18Speaker 1: Why are they seeing each other like this?
- 23:20Speaker 5: This rumor started months ago and they were just with
- 23:23Speaker 5: each other this weekend.
- 23:25Speaker 3: So in your eyes, do you feel like that is
- 23:28Speaker 3: a quote unquote checkmate kind of move with the super
- 23:30Speaker 3: Bowl thing and just kind of like in the battle.
- 23:33Speaker 5: I do think, like you said, I if he's really
- 23:37Speaker 5: looking for that, for that the fairweather, that it's a
- 23:40Speaker 5: pop culture all that shit, he has to do something
- 23:43Speaker 5: way bigger than the super Bowl. Now there's not a
- 23:46Speaker 5: good album, a good song, and a good brand. Deal
- 23:50Speaker 5: has to be something way bigger than the super Bowl now,
- 23:53Speaker 5: because that that just took everything he says big as
- 23:55Speaker 5: a super Bowl out of context. Now you're like, you're
- 23:57Speaker 5: not as big as a super Bowl anymore, so you
- 23:59Speaker 5: got to be So I think if he really cares
- 24:01Speaker 5: about that, he's gonna have to go for some like
- 24:04Speaker 5: the World Cup.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:07Speaker 3: And it's funny because that kind of goes back to
- 24:10Speaker 3: the the perception thing, Kendrick doing the super Bowl. We
- 24:15Speaker 3: in America, American football, big strong. Drake is in Canada perform, Okay,
- 24:24Speaker 3: but about here, Drake is in Canada performing for a
- 24:30Speaker 3: soccer stadium, you know, for a soccer crowd, for a
- 24:33Speaker 3: soccer game on the large scale, the worldwide scale, and
- 24:38Speaker 3: business wise, it's probably a I mean not probably, it's
- 24:41Speaker 3: not even a question. Drake doing the the world Cup
- 24:45Speaker 3: is infinitely more important than Kendrick doing the Super Bowl
- 24:50Speaker 3: just from a world, worldwide, worldwide angle, revenue, everything.
- 24:56Speaker 5: And that's not guaranteed that Canada is even going to
- 24:59Speaker 5: be playing that day. So it's whatever two teams end
- 25:01Speaker 5: up playing that day. There is good the fans that
- 25:04Speaker 5: are going to be there.
- 25:05Speaker 3: Yeah, So considering that still, when you talk about the
- 25:10Speaker 3: fair Weather fans, the Randoms, the people that only listen
- 25:13Speaker 3: to the radio here and there, there's a real chance
- 25:17Speaker 3: that people are going to be like, bro, this guy
- 25:19Speaker 3: got beat so bad that now he's in Canada performing
- 25:22Speaker 3: for soccer people. You know what I'm saying, because people
- 25:25Speaker 3: out here don't respect soccer.
- 25:26Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 25:27Speaker 3: People out here look at soccer like it's a funny sport.
- 25:29Speaker 3: Nobody really watches it, nobody really pays attention.
- 25:32Speaker 6: And then when you got I don't know if that's
- 25:34Speaker 6: I was gonna say, I don't know if that's true. Yeah,
- 25:38Speaker 6: I see what you're saying, but no, I don't I
- 25:40Speaker 6: don't think that's the case. The World Cup is what, well,
- 25:43Speaker 6: it's probably number one, but people do love soccer.
- 25:47Speaker 2: I don't know anybody that likes soccer that's just yeah.
- 25:51Speaker 6: No, the Major League Soccer League is legit, bro, people
- 25:54Speaker 6: are for real about it.
- 25:56Speaker 1: I don't know, man, I just I just loan Orlandolone.
- 25:59Speaker 5: They had they had d League fan base, Orlando Pirates.
- 26:02Speaker 5: Orlando Pirates switched over to being the Orlando City Lions.
- 26:05Speaker 5: I had season tickets in the inaugural season. It's the
- 26:08Speaker 5: same fan base they have. It's like the Gators black
- 26:11Speaker 5: I mean the Raiders black hole. These dudes are serious.
- 26:13Speaker 5: Are there every single time, face painted, bodies paining, and
- 26:17Speaker 5: bands playing they make they got their own songs. And
- 26:20Speaker 5: that's just Orlando in Orlando's trash Messi's playing in Miami
- 26:25Speaker 5: like they have retired international stars coming to play in
- 26:30Speaker 5: Major League Soccer.
- 26:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:32Speaker 3: I mean, I'm definitely gonna push back against that on
- 26:35Speaker 3: both of y'all because if y'all are saying that soccer
- 26:39Speaker 3: is as big as y'all are saying, it would have
- 26:41Speaker 3: come across my timeline. It would have permeated what I'm
- 26:45Speaker 3: into because I follow sports so much.
- 26:47Speaker 1: Bro.
- 26:48Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. I'm watching it.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Don't follow hockey.
- 26:52Speaker 3: I don't follow hockey, but I know hockey, hockey, hockey, across.
- 26:56Speaker 3: They talk about it on Sports Center, they talk about
- 26:58Speaker 3: it on these podcasts.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Stuff.
- 27:00Speaker 3: I don't hear nobody talking about soccer, Bro, not a person.
- 27:04Speaker 1: Dog.
- 27:05Speaker 3: I haven't heard them mentioned soccer on First Take, none
- 27:10Speaker 3: of these shows.
- 27:10Speaker 2: Bro.
- 27:10Speaker 3: They not talking about soccer. Dog, nobody's talking about no soccer.
- 27:14Speaker 7: Bro.
- 27:15Speaker 3: Okay, I understand what you're saying, all right, Like, just
- 27:18Speaker 3: as far as international goes, but Bruh, soccer is now
- 27:23Speaker 3: in the US is not on.
- 27:25Speaker 2: The level of football, Bro.
- 27:26Speaker 4: No, No, that's I won't argue that's any US this year. Yeah,
- 27:30Speaker 4: but I won't. I won't argue that NFL is bigger
- 27:33Speaker 4: than MLS. I won't argue that at all. But what
- 27:36Speaker 4: I will say.
- 27:37Speaker 6: What I will say is that if you look at
- 27:40Speaker 6: you mentioned the NHL. The NHL, it was established in
- 27:45Speaker 6: nineteen seventeen and it's worth like.
- 27:47Speaker 4: Forty two billion.
- 27:49Speaker 6: Major League or MLS was established in nineteen ninety six
- 27:53Speaker 6: and worth twenty billion.
- 27:55Speaker 4: Like you know what I'm saying.
- 27:56Speaker 6: Just that's just that's nationwide, that's not world you know
- 28:00Speaker 6: what I'm saying. So if you look at the growth
- 28:02Speaker 6: and the word bro, people are following soccer.
- 28:04Speaker 8: Bro.
- 28:05Speaker 5: Yeah, like top top fifteen most few sporting events. World
- 28:11Speaker 5: Cup number one, over five million viewers, over the two
- 28:15Speaker 5: of de France, over the Olympics, post Summer witness winner.
- 28:19Speaker 5: Super Bowl sits at one hundred and fifteen million super
- 28:22Speaker 5: Bowls right under their US numbers.
- 28:24Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, no, World Cup, that's that's worldwide though.
- 28:26Speaker 2: Check the US numbers for soccer period, Bro soccer Bro.
- 28:30Speaker 3: I'm telling you, I understand that it has a big appeal,
- 28:34Speaker 3: and I understand that a lot of people like it,
- 28:36Speaker 3: but I put in the same category as baseball, bro,
- 28:39Speaker 3: Like it's it's on the bottom dog, Like that's like
- 28:41Speaker 3: a niche sport. You know, people, a random person is
- 28:45Speaker 3: not saying, Oh, I'm gonna go to a soccer game,
- 28:47Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. Like, there was definitely a
- 28:49Speaker 3: vibe of that when like the MLS thing started, the
- 28:52Speaker 3: first takeoff on, like that first thing started of like
- 28:55Speaker 3: how you said, Joe, like.
- 28:57Speaker 2: The retired players coming to play.
- 28:59Speaker 3: That's how I even know that Messi's there is because
- 29:02Speaker 3: I kind of peeped like from I mean, it's not
- 29:04Speaker 3: anything you.
- 29:05Speaker 2: Know, you got to be smart to peep.
- 29:07Speaker 3: But when they were trying to get the MLS to
- 29:09Speaker 3: get to get to that next level.
- 29:11Speaker 2: That's what they started doing.
- 29:12Speaker 3: They started telling these players, bro, y'all can stay over
- 29:14Speaker 3: there and make you know, a little bit of money
- 29:18Speaker 3: because they're not gonna pay you the same amount of
- 29:19Speaker 3: money when you at that age, or y'all could come
- 29:22Speaker 3: over here and make the same, if not more right now,
- 29:25Speaker 3: just kind of playing around, just like in the JV
- 29:28Speaker 3: league type thing, you know, when you when you're somebody.
- 29:30Speaker 2: Like Messi, that's lat Time guy, whatever his name is.
- 29:36Speaker 2: What was the other one that came out here?
- 29:39Speaker 3: There was a Ronaldo, right, Ronaldinho or one of them
- 29:42Speaker 3: played for one of the MLS. Oh no, David Beckham
- 29:45Speaker 3: there it goes bea yeah, but he but he was
- 29:49Speaker 3: like I think the first one that came and played,
- 29:51Speaker 3: and I think it was like a player owner type thing.
- 29:55Speaker 1: He was from there, Yeah, from Brazil.
- 29:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:59Speaker 3: So like once all these guys started coming over and
- 30:02Speaker 3: legitimizing the league, it's definitely been on the rise and
- 30:04Speaker 3: it's definitely something that, like I said, it makes money internationally.
- 30:10Speaker 3: The NFL can't touch soccer like for sure for sure
- 30:13Speaker 3: when it comes to just a worldwide thing.
- 30:16Speaker 2: The money that it brings in just the idea of soccer. Bro,
- 30:20Speaker 2: you don't need any like. Soccer is such a.
- 30:22Speaker 3: Great appeal across the globe because all you need is
- 30:25Speaker 3: a soccer ball.
- 30:26Speaker 2: Nobody needs anything else. You need space and.
- 30:28Speaker 3: A ball and that's it. All these other sports you
- 30:31Speaker 3: need a lot of stuff. You know, you need travel,
- 30:33Speaker 3: you X, Y and Z whatever whatever equipment. Soccer, y'all
- 30:37Speaker 3: could you could do it anywhere. So it's just such
- 30:39Speaker 3: an easy thing to pick up. And that's why internationally
- 30:42Speaker 3: is so huge. But over here they're not checking for
- 30:44Speaker 3: soccer like that.
- 30:45Speaker 4: Bro, you don't have to put this video and make
- 30:49Speaker 4: a poll or something.
- 30:51Speaker 1: I mean, TikTok.
- 30:52Speaker 3: Back me up, y'all give me some soccer updates. Then
- 30:55Speaker 3: we've never talked about soccer on this the work.
- 30:57Speaker 5: But the World Cup is every four years. You know,
- 31:00Speaker 5: you have to depend on the world.
- 31:02Speaker 1: The world.
- 31:03Speaker 4: But y'all just we're talking about MLS.
- 31:05Speaker 2: Just the MLS is dope, So who cares about the world.
- 31:08Speaker 1: No, I'm talking about soccer.
- 31:10Speaker 5: It doesn't have to be if you're just talking about
- 31:12Speaker 5: peer American League soccer, then no, if you talk about
- 31:15Speaker 5: Americans who like soccer, yes, there's two different things.
- 31:20Speaker 3: So you're saying that the energy for soccer is there
- 31:23Speaker 3: in the United States when the World Cup season is going.
- 31:27Speaker 5: And throughout the world, like everybody's watching the Champions League,
- 31:30Speaker 5: Premier League, every all the internationalists that were playing where Ronaldo,
- 31:36Speaker 5: we're all just playing for the Saudis now, but for
- 31:39Speaker 5: theymar Is still playing. Like everybody's still watching that. Everybody
- 31:43Speaker 5: still watch. Everybody is big. I know mad people with
- 31:46Speaker 5: those Jersey who been to's PSG, we'rel Madrid. Those are
- 31:50Speaker 5: big teams in the United States for a lot of fans,
- 31:52Speaker 5: not MLS. If you're talking about m molesting agree, that's
- 31:56Speaker 5: book syrup.
- 31:57Speaker 2: I'm an interest in soccer period.
- 32:02Speaker 5: Yeah oh yeah, yeah, that's what I thought you were
- 32:04Speaker 5: saying that Americans.
- 32:08Speaker 3: I'm still saying that they're not in the soccer Bro,
- 32:10Speaker 3: this is a very small small pocket.
- 32:12Speaker 2: We're definitely gonna have to hear from the people because, Bro,
- 32:14Speaker 2: I'm telling you, we've never talked about it.
- 32:17Speaker 3: Y'all can't even tell me right now any like recent
- 32:20Speaker 3: highlight or like even if the season is going or
- 32:22Speaker 3: anything like that.
- 32:24Speaker 5: Well, when I was Worldship qualifiers next next uh next
- 32:28Speaker 5: week starts the qualifying games again, plays Bolivia on the
- 32:31Speaker 5: eleven and they play Brazil in the fourteen. When they
- 32:34Speaker 5: play the World Cup qualifiers. They can'tnot play for any
- 32:36Speaker 5: other team. The Solar reserve for their national team. I
- 32:39Speaker 5: keep up with this all the time. We never talk
- 32:41Speaker 5: about it because y'all don't watch soccer, but all by
- 32:42Speaker 5: people who do watch soccer, we talk about this.
- 32:44Speaker 1: We have a chat for it. You we gotta Metro.
- 32:47Speaker 1: Shout out to Metro. Who and Daniel are putting soccer
- 32:49Speaker 1: bets in there Weekend? Yeah? Weekly?
- 32:53Speaker 3: Who you who you know in them chats or whatever?
- 32:56Speaker 3: That's not like South American or something.
- 33:00Speaker 1: They're well, they're all Spanish only.
- 33:01Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying, Bro, I tell you right now.
- 33:04Speaker 4: Bro, I'll tell you right now.
- 33:05Speaker 2: Y'all tell me.
- 33:05Speaker 4: I personally don't don't follow soccer like that.
- 33:08Speaker 6: But when I'm playing soccer and I'm around that crowd,
- 33:11Speaker 6: everybody talks it.
- 33:13Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying. We don't talk it because
- 33:15Speaker 4: it's not our thing. You know.
- 33:16Speaker 2: That's the same thing I'm saying.
- 33:19Speaker 3: Y'all are trying to say that I that that people
- 33:21Speaker 3: around me don't play soccer, so I'm just not seeing it.
- 33:24Speaker 3: What I'm saying is y'all are around a couple of people,
- 33:26Speaker 3: so y'all feel like a lot of people talk about soccer.
- 33:29Speaker 3: But when you go up to ten people, Bro, Bro,
- 33:32Speaker 3: I'm telling you, it has to be maybe one out
- 33:34Speaker 3: of those ten that knows what Joe just did right now,
- 33:37Speaker 3: like the stuff he's explained. You go to ten people,
- 33:40Speaker 3: none of them are gonna know what he's talking about.
- 33:42Speaker 3: Maybe like one of them out of ten.
- 33:45Speaker 1: Select variety.
- 33:47Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't know exactly, because you can select ten
- 33:49Speaker 6: people that know nothing about NFL.
- 33:50Speaker 4: It just depends on who you selected.
- 33:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:54Speaker 3: No, I just think I'm telling you, brother, And if
- 33:57Speaker 3: we had, Bro, if I would have known we were
- 33:59Speaker 3: going to talk about, I would have had the numbers
- 34:01Speaker 3: with me me too. Yeah, soccer is not doing no
- 34:05Speaker 3: type of damage in the United States.
- 34:06Speaker 2: It might be on an upward trend. And I'm you
- 34:10Speaker 2: know what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna look this up
- 34:11Speaker 2: and I'm.
- 34:12Speaker 3: Gonna bring it back for next week, Dog, because I'm
- 34:13Speaker 3: about to slaughter y'all on this soccer.
- 34:15Speaker 2: Ship because nobody's checking for no soccer.
- 34:18Speaker 7: Bro.
- 34:19Speaker 2: I'm doubling, I'm tripling down.
- 34:20Speaker 8: Dog.
- 34:21Speaker 3: Soccer is probably behind baseball in the United States as
- 34:24Speaker 3: far as sports goes. Dog And that's saying a lot
- 34:27Speaker 3: because baseball's trash.
- 34:28Speaker 2: Bro.
- 34:29Speaker 5: So when US, when the US plays in those World
- 34:32Speaker 5: Cup qualifiers, they set out every single game in the
- 34:36Speaker 5: US that they play it.
- 34:37Speaker 1: No, no, And I don't there's a bunch of white people.
- 34:40Speaker 1: There's a bunch of white Americans.
- 34:41Speaker 2: I don't disagree with that. What I'm saying is it's
- 34:44Speaker 2: still on a very low.
- 34:45Speaker 1: That's ten of those people in that statey because it's.
- 34:48Speaker 3: Even like you said, Bro, there's minor league hockey teams
- 34:53Speaker 3: here that be having full houses, you know what I'm saying, Like,
- 34:55Speaker 3: especially when it's a live event or something. Somebody going
- 34:58Speaker 3: on an event is a different than them actually like keeping.
- 35:02Speaker 2: Up and watching stuff. You know what I'm saying.
- 35:03Speaker 3: I know mad people that will go to a WWE
- 35:05Speaker 3: event just because it's in town and they ain't watching
- 35:08Speaker 3: since Stone Cold was on, you know what I mean.
- 35:10Speaker 2: They don't know none of the rest of the don't
- 35:11Speaker 2: know nothing. They just enjoy seeing people do front flips
- 35:14Speaker 2: off the top rope. You know what I'm saying.
- 35:17Speaker 9: Yeah, I think because I was just gonna say so
- 35:20Speaker 9: what's your gauge on nobody Like you're saying no, Like,
- 35:24Speaker 9: what's your number as far as like percentage of people
- 35:28Speaker 9: that watch soccer?
- 35:29Speaker 4: What do you what are you saying?
- 35:30Speaker 3: I'm saying, if like you go to if you talk
- 35:32Speaker 3: to a random group of ten people a thousand times
- 35:36Speaker 3: and you break down a percentage at the end of
- 35:38Speaker 3: people that not just say that they like soccer. I'm saying,
- 35:41Speaker 3: people that have any kind of current event, news stats,
- 35:45Speaker 3: they have an understanding of who's on what roster, like
- 35:50Speaker 3: just basic knowledge of the sport of soccer and actually
- 35:53Speaker 3: watch it. I would say ten percent of people are
- 35:56Speaker 3: the would fall into that category.
- 35:58Speaker 1: You know who good people to ask people who big
- 36:00Speaker 1: fans of the NFL.
- 36:03Speaker 2: If they know anything about soccer.
- 36:06Speaker 3: Yeah, that would be good to know, Like how many
- 36:07Speaker 3: people that like the NFL also like soccer.
- 36:11Speaker 1: Or just what they know about soccer?
- 36:13Speaker 5: You could like it say that's cool, like because I
- 36:15Speaker 5: watched the World Cup and all this stuff. You know
- 36:17Speaker 5: how much you know about soccer? Can you name any
- 36:19Speaker 5: teams in the US? Can you name any players in
- 36:22Speaker 5: the US Like that? I think that will properly gauge you.
- 36:27Speaker 2: Yo, And and that left I was thinking about earlier,
- 36:30Speaker 2: almost lost it. But Bro, they gotta be laundering money
- 36:34Speaker 2: in soccer.
- 36:34Speaker 3: Dog, Yeah, oh bro, you know, matter of fact, now
- 36:43Speaker 3: that you bring up FIFA, the only time I hear
- 36:45Speaker 3: people talking about soccer like in a deep way is
- 36:49Speaker 3: when they're talking about something that FIFA did that was
- 36:51Speaker 3: real shady or something that. Yeah, yeah, I've definitely heard that,
- 36:56Speaker 3: brou But it's like, Dog, there's no way they really
- 36:59Speaker 3: got this kind of like, there's no way soccer's bringing
- 37:02Speaker 3: that much money where they can give one player five
- 37:04Speaker 3: hundred mili a billion, you know they give Ronald I mean, bro,
- 37:08Speaker 3: Christiano Ronaldo got a billion dollars from the no.
- 37:11Speaker 5: But that's just they don't make that kind of money, Lebron.
- 37:14Speaker 5: Right now, NFL players make more than like the Italy
- 37:18Speaker 5: or European players, not the Saudis. The Saudi's out well.
- 37:21Speaker 3: Money, yeah yeah, facts, the Saudis is a whole different ballgame.
- 37:23Speaker 3: But even like other players, Bro, you know them soccer
- 37:26Speaker 3: contracts being crazy for a long time, you know what
- 37:28Speaker 3: I'm saying, Because that's another there we go. That's another
- 37:30Speaker 3: time that I hear about soccer too, just when a
- 37:33Speaker 3: player gets paid and it's always a crazy number. And
- 37:36Speaker 3: it's like, bro, how are you going to a poor
- 37:41Speaker 3: country with the guy that's making three hundred million dollars?
- 37:47Speaker 3: And that's just one guy. That's not even including the
- 37:49Speaker 3: whole operation. It doesn't include the team. It doesn't include
- 37:52Speaker 3: the fact that they have to upkeep these stadiums like
- 37:55Speaker 3: that don't include nothing.
- 37:56Speaker 2: That's just the one guy.
- 37:57Speaker 3: Like, how are y'all like when you factor it all in,
- 38:00Speaker 3: Like is soccer really making that much money?
- 38:05Speaker 5: It is because they have their stadiums are even like
- 38:08Speaker 5: ten times bigger than the NFL stadiums, take them huge,
- 38:12Speaker 5: They hold.
- 38:13Speaker 3: People in the bro, they're huge stadiums. But you're talking
- 38:17Speaker 3: about like they're going to a lot of like poor places.
- 38:21Speaker 3: Like how much do you honestly sell the tickets for?
- 38:23Speaker 3: I mean, I guess when you have one hundred thousand
- 38:25Speaker 3: seats you can sell them for five dollars apart when they.
- 38:28Speaker 5: Pick where where where the World Cup is held. It
- 38:31Speaker 5: has to uh, interestionally, financially be stable and.
- 38:34Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it has to.
- 38:35Speaker 3: It has to has to support them being able to
- 38:39Speaker 3: like actually make money logistically handle all the.
- 38:43Speaker 2: People and everything and make money. Yeah, and make money facts.
- 38:48Speaker 4: You know, I just saw it crazy.
- 38:49Speaker 6: I didn't realize that Cristiano Ronaldo has six hundred and
- 38:53Speaker 6: forty million followers on Instagram.
- 38:55Speaker 4: Yes, Taylor Swift has two hundred and eighty three.
- 38:58Speaker 1: Most as ten of those followers. What they know about soccer?
- 39:03Speaker 2: Bruh.
- 39:03Speaker 3: And then you look at somebody he asking if somebody
- 39:06Speaker 3: that follows soccer if they know about socie.
- 39:09Speaker 6: But but man likes.
- 39:16Speaker 2: Yeah, bruh.
- 39:18Speaker 3: And I think about it too, Like with the money thing, bro,
- 39:21Speaker 3: Like baseball is the same thing too. They spend so
- 39:24Speaker 3: much money on like so many different levels in baseball.
- 39:28Speaker 3: Baseball fans like when it comes to play like cards
- 39:32Speaker 3: go you know how you know, people be buying basketball cars,
- 39:35Speaker 3: soccer cars, baseball cards like that has like a booming
- 39:38Speaker 3: market right now, like in the last few years when
- 39:40Speaker 3: it comes to cards, bro, the baseball market is really
- 39:45Speaker 3: where it's at, and that's where people are spending crazy
- 39:48Speaker 3: amounts of bread on these baseball cars that even make
- 39:50Speaker 3: It's like, Bro, there's so much money in the sport.
- 39:53Speaker 3: The fans have so much money because they're spending this
- 39:57Speaker 3: kind of money on these cards.
- 39:59Speaker 2: Like where is the money coming from?
- 40:01Speaker 3: There's no way baseball is making that much money with
- 40:05Speaker 3: how much is declined.
- 40:06Speaker 6: Bro mm hmmm, I don't I'm not a baseball fan,
- 40:11Speaker 6: so I can't speak to that.
- 40:14Speaker 5: Yeah, no, I think that was that. That was a good,
- 40:17Speaker 5: h random topic. I'm glad you said that. Now we
- 40:20Speaker 5: gotta go improve and we got to see what the
- 40:23Speaker 5: with the massive cy.
- 40:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:26Speaker 2: Man, I'm very confident in that one.
- 40:28Speaker 1: Bro.
- 40:29Speaker 3: Ain't nobody checking for no soccer. The people that like
- 40:31Speaker 3: soccer are gonna come at me, and I got a
- 40:33Speaker 3: few in my head.
- 40:34Speaker 5: A yo, put it as soon as we get off,
- 40:38Speaker 5: I'm gonna put in the chat yo, mess your danny.
- 40:40Speaker 1: You know what Lessons said that they actually the clip
- 40:43Speaker 1: made the clip and the soccer come on.
- 40:46Speaker 5: But see they don't keep up with just Colombia. They
- 40:48Speaker 5: keep up with everything everything soccer.
- 40:52Speaker 3: But what I'm saying is like they do because that's
- 40:55Speaker 3: like where they come from. You know what I'm saying,
- 40:57Speaker 3: Like the people out here, Bro, if you're not growing
- 41:00Speaker 3: up where people are checking for soccer, you not checking
- 41:02Speaker 3: for soccer?
- 41:02Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
- 41:03Speaker 5: All Right, the dude Rhino on the on the softball team,
- 41:06Speaker 5: but I mean he just bets on it, so I
- 41:08Speaker 5: don't know how much he actually watches it.
- 41:10Speaker 1: That's less for betting.
- 41:12Speaker 6: So I found his stat on this website called stats score,
- 41:16Speaker 6: stats score dot com. And obviously we know NFL is
- 41:22Speaker 6: American favorite sport, with baseball second, basketball third, ice hockey fourth,
- 41:27Speaker 6: and soccer at fifth.
- 41:29Speaker 4: With the TV viewing record for.
- 41:32Speaker 6: NFL as one hundred and eleven or one hundred and
- 41:34Speaker 6: twelve million, that's last, right, and then the TV viewing
- 41:38Speaker 6: record for soccer at twenty seven point three.
- 41:43Speaker 2: It's a decent number twenty seven.
- 41:47Speaker 1: Sports.
- 41:48Speaker 2: Ever, does it tell you where that numbers from?
- 41:51Speaker 1: Let me see here. It says like to be number
- 41:55Speaker 1: five out of the five major sports.
- 41:57Speaker 5: We ain't talking about cricket, we ain't talking about polo,
- 42:00Speaker 5: and talking about swimming.
- 42:01Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying.
- 42:01Speaker 5: Those are the top five major sports really in any
- 42:05Speaker 5: and any uh like any institution.
- 42:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm trying to see they barely made it now.
- 42:14Speaker 1: No, I was just say I'm not gonna use that.
- 42:15Speaker 1: I'm not going to use that.
- 42:16Speaker 5: But I think if like if like MLS had like
- 42:20Speaker 5: a Lebron James, I think that would change it. But
- 42:23Speaker 5: they have not had one. That's American that was from here,
- 42:27Speaker 5: that started here and developed one of the greatest ever.
- 42:30Speaker 5: It's always been someone who came internationally.
- 42:33Speaker 3: You would have to train people here to even care
- 42:35Speaker 3: about the sport, you know what I mean. It's so
- 42:37Speaker 3: different than American sports are. Like you got to think,
- 42:40Speaker 3: like all of our leagues have been like crafted and
- 42:44Speaker 3: tailored every year to further feed the.
- 42:48Speaker 2: American audience, you know what I'm saying, Like.
- 42:49Speaker 3: All the rules and everything, they're made because we have
- 42:52Speaker 3: certain viewing habits, and these are the sports we like
- 42:55Speaker 3: because of the way that they are. For like some
- 42:58Speaker 3: for somebody that enjoys the the action of the NBA
- 43:02Speaker 3: or the NFL, to tell them to go to a
- 43:04Speaker 3: game that's gonna be ninety minutes and you might see
- 43:07Speaker 3: one person score and I might not see anybody score. Bro,
- 43:11Speaker 3: that's a hard sell, dog, that's a very hard The
- 43:14Speaker 3: games aren't that bad, I mean, but it happens. It's
- 43:18Speaker 3: happened that the game has ended zero zero, one, zero,
- 43:21Speaker 3: one to one. Like let's say, best case scenario, the
- 43:23Speaker 3: game ends, you know, I mean, not best case scenario,
- 43:27Speaker 3: but let's say end five.
- 43:28Speaker 1: It goes. But that's the thing.
- 43:30Speaker 5: A lot of times that goes into penalty and that's
- 43:32Speaker 5: the greatest thing in penalty kickoffs.
- 43:34Speaker 2: Oh yeah, the penalty kicks are dope, definitely.
- 43:37Speaker 3: But I mean, I don't know, Bro, I feel like,
- 43:40Speaker 3: and to kind of wrap it up, I'm definitely gonna
- 43:43Speaker 3: come off like I hate soccer or something.
- 43:46Speaker 2: That's not the case at all.
- 43:48Speaker 3: Yeah, you are just I just don't think that soccer
- 43:51Speaker 3: in here, like the United States, is nowhere near the
- 43:54Speaker 3: level of like the other major sports, which is basically
- 43:57Speaker 3: what you just figured out Quincy. Like it's number fie
- 44:00Speaker 3: under ice hockey, Bro and ice hockey, and I would
- 44:03Speaker 3: have said ice hockey was worse than soccer, you know
- 44:05Speaker 3: what I'm saying. I'm surprised that it's higher, to be honest,
- 44:08Speaker 3: I thought it was going to be like right under baseball.
- 44:10Speaker 2: But it's going up. Though, it's going up.
- 44:15Speaker 1: It's the unmitigated golf.
- 44:17Speaker 3: For me, I respect, I respect soccer player. It's the
- 44:20Speaker 3: same way I respect baseball players.
- 44:21Speaker 2: Dog Like.
- 44:22Speaker 3: I know, I know it ain't it ain't an easy
- 44:24Speaker 3: sport or anything like that, you know what I'm saying,
- 44:27Speaker 3: But it's not for me, my guy, I'm not trying
- 44:30Speaker 3: to watch that.
- 44:31Speaker 1: I'll tell you. One thing.
- 44:32Speaker 6: When I do see people like at MLS games and
- 44:34Speaker 6: stuff like that, I'm always surprised.
- 44:37Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying.
- 44:38Speaker 4: It doesn't have a niche audience, like you either like
- 44:41Speaker 4: it or you don't.
- 44:42Speaker 1: You know who went to the game this season?
- 44:44Speaker 6: Me, Bro, I got a couple of people I know
- 44:47Speaker 6: that I've seen. I'm like, oh, I didn't even know
- 44:48Speaker 6: they like soccer.
- 44:49Speaker 5: But don't I say, y'all, don't know nobody who follow
- 44:52Speaker 5: soccer goes to soccer games. Because I definitely win Atlanta
- 44:55Speaker 5: City game this year. They they got scored on in
- 44:57Speaker 5: the first in the first play they got scored on.
- 45:00Speaker 2: I know, I know a few people that go to
- 45:02Speaker 2: a lot of the Orlando City games.
- 45:04Speaker 4: I'm trying to go to one of the Atlanta ones.
- 45:05Speaker 3: Bro, when the season's open. Is it open right now?
- 45:08Speaker 3: Oh no, no, you said they're doing the workout so and.
- 45:11Speaker 1: Never it's the World Cup, everybody pulls out pass hey yo.
- 45:16Speaker 2: But yeah, man, it's something to wind it downs.
- 45:22Speaker 3: Sign for the Mets, Oh yeah, brou mets her In
- 45:26Speaker 3: the playoffs, they had a crazy little run that It's
- 45:31Speaker 3: always wild when when you getting into the playoffs has
- 45:34Speaker 3: to do with like you have to play well, things
- 45:36Speaker 3: have to go wrong for other teams.
- 45:38Speaker 2: Like it's like so like all mixed in, but once
- 45:41Speaker 2: you get there, bro, you're there the first game, right, yeah.
- 45:46Speaker 1: That last night.
- 45:46Speaker 5: But I would tell you remember one time you asked
- 45:48Speaker 5: about the mess and that'said.
- 45:49Speaker 1: It's always the same thing.
- 45:50Speaker 5: It's always we have to fight to the very last game,
- 45:52Speaker 5: and it's always the Braves in the Phillies and they
- 45:54Speaker 5: always knock us out. Yesterday, whoever won that first game
- 45:59Speaker 5: between the Brave in us goes to the playoffs? Who
- 46:02Speaker 5: doesn't second enning brings her up to zero And I
- 46:05Speaker 5: was like, here we go, here's the end of verse
- 46:07Speaker 5: season like always, And then they came back tighten up
- 46:11Speaker 5: and then winning and winning eight to four, and that
- 46:13Speaker 5: was I've not seen meant to do that in a
- 46:15Speaker 5: lot of years.
- 46:16Speaker 1: So now I'm like, all right, all right, all right.
- 46:20Speaker 3: Now watched when once you once you kind of get
- 46:23Speaker 3: over that that playoff hump, especially for like younger players, Man,
- 46:27Speaker 3: it's a big deal. I feel like that's what's happening
- 46:30Speaker 3: with us in softball right now, where like even though
- 46:32Speaker 3: it hasn't been a lot of games, we keep getting
- 46:34Speaker 3: canceled and stuff, but we just have that experience, you know,
- 46:39Speaker 3: we we've got that season together. We kind of already
- 46:42Speaker 3: got all the little you know, especially for me that
- 46:45Speaker 3: I don't know the game, you know, learning the little things,
- 46:48Speaker 3: you know, the tips and everything like that. Then you
- 46:51Speaker 3: get to a point where you can actually, you know,
- 46:54Speaker 3: have success. And I feel like maybe that's where the
- 46:57Speaker 3: Mets are right now. Like the team that they put
- 46:59Speaker 3: together is found founding a way to really string together
- 47:02Speaker 3: some wins, which is dope. I love that for us brother,
- 47:06Speaker 3: the Spurs season, you know, the NBA able to start
- 47:09Speaker 3: Spurs got Chris Paul. I didn't like it at first.
- 47:13Speaker 2: Still don't really like Wemby, but I do like.
- 47:16Speaker 3: It from the point of view of he's gonna he's
- 47:19Speaker 3: gonna feed it to Wemby. Many's gonna go crazy this year.
