- 1:35Speaker 10: Hey, we're not Scott, and we're not Rusty. Who are
- 1:37Speaker 10: doing the show today for Chip?
- 1:38Speaker 5: Yeah, so we're gonna have a rotating cast of characters.
- 1:41Speaker 5: Scott'll be here in the next segment, Rusty at five o'clock.
- 1:44Speaker 5: So you're gonna hear a lot of different voices today.
- 1:46Speaker 10: Yeah, that's okay. So they'll be into talk another but soccer,
- 1:49Speaker 10: I'm sure.
- 1:50Speaker 9: Yeah, you know those guys love love soccer.
- 1:52Speaker 10: Break break down the World Cup for sure.
- 1:56Speaker 5: Oh yeah, I'm sure they're gonna get into the Astros
- 1:59Speaker 5: and Rangers series that happened over the weekend.
- 2:02Speaker 9: Get some good rivalry banter back and forth.
- 2:05Speaker 5: In that one, we're going to talk about the Aggies
- 2:09Speaker 5: that were drafted in this past weekend's MLB draft. There
- 2:12Speaker 5: were a lot of them, EIGHTEP and had the highest
- 2:17Speaker 5: ever drafted position player in Texas A and M history.
- 2:20Speaker 5: Chris Ocopian going number eleven overall to the Washington Nationals,
- 2:25Speaker 5: getting to go back home to where he grew up
- 2:30Speaker 5: in the DC area. So pretty excited for him. Only
- 2:34Speaker 5: spent one year in an Aggie uniform, but really really
- 2:37Speaker 5: great performance.
- 2:38Speaker 10: And was hurt a lot of it, which was a
- 2:39Speaker 10: shame because we didn't get to see the best of
- 2:42Speaker 10: Chrysacopia because of his injury.
- 2:44Speaker 9: Yeah, I fully agree.
- 2:46Speaker 5: I mean even when his first couple games in an
- 2:50Speaker 5: Aggie uniform. I remember that first at bat he had
- 2:53Speaker 5: in the Arlington Tournament early in the year, he had
- 2:55Speaker 5: a home run while he was dealing with back spasms
- 2:59Speaker 5: he was. It was very impressive to see just how
- 3:01Speaker 5: resilient he was throughout the season with dealing with a
- 3:05Speaker 5: lot of different injuries. Caden Serell going in the second
- 3:09Speaker 5: round to the Chicago Cubs, the sixty second pick overall,
- 3:15Speaker 5: definitely fell a little more than I think was expected.
- 3:19Speaker 5: He was ranked I think in the top forty, but
- 3:21Speaker 5: ended up falling all the way down to sixty two.
- 3:23Speaker 5: But the Cubs getting a real steal there. I think,
- 3:26Speaker 5: you know, the main concern with Cerell was him having
- 3:29Speaker 5: a lot of swing and miss potential and most teams
- 3:32Speaker 5: not really wanting to deal with all those strikeouts. But
- 3:35Speaker 5: he definitely has potential to develop into a very, very
- 3:38Speaker 5: serviceable outfielder for a big big league club. We know
- 3:42Speaker 5: what he can do defensively, is just whether or not
- 3:44Speaker 5: he can cut down on those strikeouts. That's I think
- 3:46Speaker 5: going to determine how well he does in professional baseball.
- 3:50Speaker 10: Right, Yeah, because he's he's got the tools when he
- 3:52Speaker 10: hits the ball, he's got the exit veloci, absolutely he
- 3:55Speaker 10: has all of that. He's got the defensive tools. He
- 3:57Speaker 10: could play either corner outfields. I would expect him to
- 4:02Speaker 10: be a corner outfielder. But you know, hey, so first
- 4:07Speaker 10: first MLB draft to get eight or more players selected since.
- 4:12Speaker 9: Two Wow, okay two and o three.
- 4:14Speaker 10: They had eight or more selected in consecutive years, so
- 4:18Speaker 10: this is this is the first time because they had
- 4:20Speaker 10: eight selected last year. I heard it eight more last year.
- 4:24Speaker 5: So yeah, It's definitely speaks a lot to the development
- 4:28Speaker 5: prowess of coach Early and that staff. But going back
- 4:31Speaker 5: to Currell for just a second, Yeah, I do think
- 4:33Speaker 5: that there is a chance.
- 4:34Speaker 9: He could end up sticking in center field.
- 4:36Speaker 13: We've seen.
- 4:36Speaker 5: You know, Brad Montgomery was a guy that went through
- 4:39Speaker 5: the minor leagues and even though he didn't really play
- 4:41Speaker 5: that much center for US, he did end up playing
- 4:43Speaker 5: a lot of center field before. He's played a lot
- 4:45Speaker 5: of center for the White Sox and throughout his minor
- 4:47Speaker 5: league career. So I think Currell, I think he could
- 4:50Speaker 5: do it. I think he's probably better suited for a
- 4:52Speaker 5: corner but he definitely has that versatility which is going
- 4:56Speaker 5: to allow him to have a lot more opportunities. Gavin
- 4:59Speaker 5: Grohovac going the third round to another hometown team for
- 5:04Speaker 5: an Aggie. He goes to the Los Angeles Angels. Grohovac
- 5:07Speaker 5: originally from Orange, California, so he gets to stay close
- 5:11Speaker 5: to family if he gets to the big league soon
- 5:14Speaker 5: at least. It's always funny to me when people say, oh,
- 5:18Speaker 5: he gets drafted by his hometown team. Well, he's not
- 5:19Speaker 5: going to play for them for a couple of years.
- 5:21Speaker 5: So I don't know that it really matters that much
- 5:23Speaker 5: who you necessarily get drafted by.
- 5:25Speaker 10: And I got to say, I was surprised he fell
- 5:29Speaker 10: as far as the third ROUNDE I agree, Yeah, you know,
- 5:34Speaker 10: Grohovac has a lot of tools I mean there is
- 5:36Speaker 10: a question of where does he fit. Sure does he
- 5:39Speaker 10: fit it for is he a first basement, is he
- 5:42Speaker 10: a third baseman? You know, he could also play a
- 5:46Speaker 10: corner outfield spot.
- 5:47Speaker 9: Right, Yeah, We've seen him do that a little bit
- 5:49Speaker 9: in an Aggi uniform.
- 5:50Speaker 10: So he could fit any of those spots. So that's
- 5:54Speaker 10: a question. I kind of thought he was going in
- 5:55Speaker 10: the second round with Cerell or you know, I mean,
- 6:00Speaker 10: picks were in the first round more than there were
- 6:02Speaker 10: teams for.
- 6:03Speaker 5: Sure, right well, they have the compensation picks right in
- 6:06Speaker 5: there and the competitive balance picks.
- 6:08Speaker 9: I think it ended up being close to forty.
- 6:10Speaker 10: So you know, for him, he was the eighty first overall,
- 6:14Speaker 10: so it's not like he went deep in the third
- 6:16Speaker 10: but fell a little further than I thought he would.
- 6:19Speaker 5: Yeah, I agree, But having that all those different positions
- 6:24Speaker 5: he can play, that can also help him.
- 6:27Speaker 9: But you know, being.
- 6:28Speaker 5: Evaluated as a draft prospect, it does kind of hurt
- 6:30Speaker 5: when you don't exactly know where you're going to stick.
- 6:33Speaker 10: Well, and if you get evaluated a position that is
- 6:36Speaker 10: less valuable than right.
- 6:38Speaker 5: Yeah, A lot some depending on the website you looked at,
- 6:40Speaker 5: some of them had him listed at first base. Some
- 6:42Speaker 5: of them had him at third base, So I don't
- 6:44Speaker 5: know what the Angels view him as, but I'm sure
- 6:48Speaker 5: we'll find that out pretty soon. In the fourth round,
- 6:51Speaker 5: Shane Sedeo, left handed pitcher, And I'm happy for him
- 6:55Speaker 5: that his draft stock stayed as high as it did,
- 6:58Speaker 5: because it was looking a little rough after the season
- 7:00Speaker 5: that he had in twenty twenty six. But you know,
- 7:04Speaker 5: there's still it's about the tools. That's what they're drafting there.
- 7:08Speaker 5: They're not drafting the stats.
- 7:09Speaker 10: It'll be interesting to me to see where he falls.
- 7:12Speaker 10: Does he become a reliever in pro ball versus a starter? Yeah,
- 7:18Speaker 10: I think in short outings that he was more effective
- 7:20Speaker 10: for A and M than in long ones this year.
- 7:22Speaker 9: Definitely.
- 7:23Speaker 10: Yeah. Well before that, I mean he right, he came
- 7:28Speaker 10: out of the.
- 7:28Speaker 9: Pen, he did.
- 7:29Speaker 5: I mean, I think we saw him start just like
- 7:32Speaker 5: a few games down the stretch in twenty twenty four, correct,
- 7:35Speaker 5: before he you know, blew out the elbow, was out
- 7:37Speaker 5: for all of the twenty five season, So maybe he
- 7:41Speaker 5: wasn't fully healthy this season, or maybe he is just
- 7:44Speaker 5: better suited for those shorter outings, right, And you.
- 7:48Speaker 10: Find that out at the major league level and right
- 7:50Speaker 10: at the minor league level, and they'll determine where he's
- 7:52Speaker 10: most effective. Yeah, he'll have a shot. And I mean,
- 7:56Speaker 10: to me, that was a great draft position for him.
- 7:58Speaker 9: To Yeah, I think so too.
- 8:01Speaker 5: So those were the four aggies taken on Day one
- 8:03Speaker 5: of the draft, and then Day two, which was Sunday,
- 8:06Speaker 5: saw the saw rounds five through twenty take place. Bear
- 8:11Speaker 5: Harrison was the first Aggie off the board on Day
- 8:14Speaker 5: two in the fifth round, pick one sixty overall to
- 8:17Speaker 5: the New York Yankees. So Bear, who I think was
- 8:20Speaker 5: out of college eligibility anyway as what I read.
- 8:24Speaker 10: So this is also it's hard to know if anyone's
- 8:26Speaker 10: ever out of college eligibility now.
- 8:28Speaker 9: With the injunctions and whatever.
- 8:31Speaker 10: If the new rule sticks, which I like. Now we
- 8:35Speaker 10: still have to deal with every person who's already in
- 8:38Speaker 10: college right getting to choose which rules they want to
- 8:42Speaker 10: play under. But now there's no more red shirt. You
- 8:48Speaker 10: have five years to play five it's very simple. There
- 8:52Speaker 10: are very few waivers out there now. If those rules stick,
- 8:55Speaker 10: it makes sense and will bring some sense back to
- 8:58Speaker 10: college football, baseball, college sports. Yeah, all right, look, I've
- 9:04Speaker 10: already moved on to the next one. So Scott's here
- 9:07Speaker 10: now more than Scott.
- 9:11Speaker 5: Top gun reference there, Where's where's my chair? Those non
- 9:14Speaker 5: culture I'm sitting in it? We we shuffled some things around,
- 9:19Speaker 5: UH West and Moss went in the eleventh round also
- 9:22Speaker 5: to the Washington Nationals, and I think that ended up
- 9:26Speaker 5: being pretty decent draft position for him. I think we
- 9:30Speaker 5: knew after the end of this season that he wasn't
- 9:32Speaker 5: going to come back regardless back to Campus.
- 9:36Speaker 10: West and Moss, You'll know, did he have eligibility left?
- 9:39Speaker 2: Yes?
- 9:39Speaker 10: Okay, because I never know who has eligibility left, and
- 9:43Speaker 10: I've given up trying to understand.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Well, and and then you know, I don't know as
- 9:48Speaker 2: some wise in person I know said there was gonna
- 9:51Speaker 2: be lawsuits about the five and five. There will be
- 9:54Speaker 2: there already are there's two Okay, I heard that that
- 9:58Speaker 2: wise person it was you never mind. But yeah, so
- 10:03Speaker 2: he did have some eligibility left. Only Jake Deer did
- 10:07Speaker 2: not have eligibility left on that on that list of.
- 10:10Speaker 10: Who was next up to the Arizona Diamondbacks in the
- 10:13Speaker 10: eighteenth rout.
- 10:14Speaker 9: Yeah, and he applied. I know he had a waver
- 10:16Speaker 9: that he applied for.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Yeah, he applied because well it's it's college baseball. If
- 10:22Speaker 2: you play one inning college softball, if you play one inning,
- 10:26Speaker 2: then you are you have used up your time. So it's, uh,
- 10:32Speaker 2: it's not the same apples. I guess softball is the
- 10:35Speaker 2: same way now.
- 10:38Speaker 10: Who knows?
- 10:39Speaker 2: Who knows?
- 10:39Speaker 10: I mean we.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Basketball, basketball, and football. You have a definite amount of
- 10:44Speaker 2: time that you you can still red shirt. But uh,
- 10:48Speaker 2: Door was in a position where he wanted to get
- 10:50Speaker 2: some eligibility back and it was just was he going
- 10:53Speaker 2: to get that kind of waiver done before before the draft? No,
- 10:58Speaker 2: And that's a pretty good spot for him to go
- 11:01Speaker 2: on the eighteenth round.
- 11:02Speaker 10: If you would have told me going into the season
- 11:05Speaker 10: Western Moss was getting drafted in the in the draft,
- 11:09Speaker 10: I would have said, really, you know before the season started. Yeah,
- 11:13Speaker 10: and he proved himself and made himself some money, and
- 11:16Speaker 10: now he's got a chance to go prove himself in
- 11:18Speaker 10: the minor leagues.
- 11:19Speaker 2: Yeah. And I think that, you know, pitching, you have
- 11:24Speaker 2: those guys that we may get to somebody else on
- 11:28Speaker 2: this draft list that we may have a different conversation
- 11:30Speaker 2: about here in a second.
- 11:31Speaker 10: Okay, So in the nineteenth round, yeah, Jake Deer was
- 11:35Speaker 10: one I think we'll stick in the major leagues.
- 11:38Speaker 2: You know, puts about puts the ball in play.
- 11:40Speaker 10: Yeah, he does, and there's a value to that.
- 11:44Speaker 5: He's kind of similar to a Jack Moss kind of
- 11:46Speaker 5: hitter from a few years ago, just that professional approach,
- 11:50Speaker 5: you know.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Even even well, which which is kind of interesting because
- 11:53Speaker 2: I was listening to y'all when y'all were talking about,
- 11:56Speaker 2: you know, the questions about Sorell and some of these
- 11:58Speaker 2: guys in the major leagues, they don't care if you
- 12:01Speaker 2: strike out anymore, if you hit home runs and you
- 12:04Speaker 2: hit extra base hits, and then you know, the dichotomy
- 12:09Speaker 2: of it is, well, we we want guys that are
- 12:12Speaker 2: going to put the ball in play when we're drafting
- 12:14Speaker 2: and we're looking well.
- 12:15Speaker 10: But then when when we want to move you up
- 12:17Speaker 10: in the organization, we just want you to hit the.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Ball out of the other exactly. And and that's it's
- 12:21Speaker 2: just kind of funny that that some guys with some tools, uh,
- 12:26Speaker 2: you know, Sorell will fall like he did when.
- 12:30Speaker 10: He didn't fall too far. I think most people had
- 12:32Speaker 10: he projected in the second round. He went in the
- 12:34Speaker 10: second round.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Yeah, and it was basically there was well, but the
- 12:38Speaker 2: question was Where was Aiden Robbins outfield from Texas going
- 12:42Speaker 2: to go? Where was Strawsnell or the outfielder from TCU
- 12:45Speaker 2: going to go? They had still carried first round day
- 12:48Speaker 2: grades when they are not going to provide the power
- 12:51Speaker 2: that you're going to get, uh, you know from Caden Serell.
- 12:55Speaker 2: So you you you look at those and you go, well,
- 12:59Speaker 2: where do you want to be at the big leagues?
- 13:01Speaker 2: They're telling you, you know, I don't care as long
- 13:04Speaker 2: as you hit the ball out of the ballpark, you know.
- 13:08Speaker 2: And if you hit the ball of the ballpark, we're
- 13:10Speaker 2: gonna live with your strikeouts now. And you know, yes,
- 13:14Speaker 2: Jake Door has a spot for what he wants to
- 13:17Speaker 2: do as far as to put the ball in play guy,
- 13:20Speaker 2: But at the at the highest level, they're not holding
- 13:22Speaker 2: it against guys that are gonna have swing and miss
- 13:26Speaker 2: And I mean Ezech Paratus has hit you know, eighteen
- 13:30Speaker 2: home runs and he's batt in two forty five. Everybody
- 13:32Speaker 2: talks about his eye. Well, yes, he's not going to
- 13:34Speaker 2: swing and miss it pitches it aren't out of the
- 13:37Speaker 2: strike zone. He's gonna swing it pitches in the strike zone.
- 13:40Speaker 2: And I think that you know, you when you're batt
- 13:45Speaker 2: in two and three hole for the aggies. In the SEC.
- 13:49Speaker 2: They're wanting you to hit the ball the ballpark. They
- 13:51Speaker 2: don't want you to punch a bunch of hits the
- 13:54Speaker 2: opposite way depending on who's behind you in the lineup.
- 13:58Speaker 2: So I think he's got a he's you know, and
- 14:00Speaker 2: the ball does fly at Chicago Sung.
- 14:02Speaker 10: And then finally Clayton Freshcorn to Saint Louis in the
- 14:06Speaker 10: nineteenth round, five hundred and sixty fourth overall.
- 14:10Speaker 2: And maybe coming back. That was it. He was not
- 14:14Speaker 2: contacted before the Saint Louis drafted him. They just took
- 14:17Speaker 2: a flyer on him, was the top guy on the board.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Really didn't have a lot of conversation with him. How
- 14:22Speaker 2: much money will they save in the first ten rounds,
- 14:24Speaker 2: because those are the rounds that matter as far as
- 14:27Speaker 2: going above the one hundred and fifty thousand dollars bonus,
- 14:31Speaker 2: which most SEC players will not sign with a pro
- 14:35Speaker 2: team if you have some leverage, and he is a
- 14:38Speaker 2: guy that got an extra year of eligibility back because
- 14:41Speaker 2: he was a five and five guy, So you're you're
- 14:45Speaker 2: gonna make more than one hundred and fifty thousand dollars
- 14:47Speaker 2: pitching for the Aggies with your name, image and likeness
- 14:51Speaker 2: and your revshare, So they're going to have to come
- 14:54Speaker 2: above that with some money if they want him to
- 14:57Speaker 2: sign with Saint Louis.
- 14:59Speaker 5: And they also took a in the twentieth round, the
- 15:01Speaker 5: final round of the draft, the Cardinals took a top
- 15:03Speaker 5: one hundred prospects and Colin Ritchie. So I think they're
- 15:07Speaker 5: kind of banking on or assuming that they're going to
- 15:09Speaker 5: lose one of their top picks and then, you know,
- 15:12Speaker 5: I just.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Think I just think ch and the reason why I
- 15:15Speaker 2: think that that was accurate information is they just looked
- 15:18Speaker 2: on the draft board and said, who's the highest rated
- 15:21Speaker 2: who's their highest rated pitcher? We have on our board
- 15:24Speaker 2: as fresh carn we tak who's the highest rated position
- 15:27Speaker 2: player and it was obviously Richie who hit thirty one
- 15:30Speaker 2: home runs last year for Oklahoma State, and I kept
- 15:36Speaker 2: wondering why he hadn't been drafted. Well, got to the
- 15:38Speaker 2: point where Oklahoma State said, we're going to give you
- 15:40Speaker 2: more than one hundred and fifty thousand dollars, so why
- 15:42Speaker 2: would you go after round ten? So I think both
- 15:46Speaker 2: those guys have a better than average chance to be
- 15:50Speaker 2: in college baseball next year.
- 15:52Speaker 10: I'd be happy to see fresh corn come back.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Oh yeah, there's no doubt about it.
- 15:56Speaker 10: And he'll make a lot more money coming back than
- 15:59Speaker 10: getting drafted in the nineteenth round.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Yes, yes, I just don't. I just you know, they
- 16:05Speaker 2: have some guys, but their first round pick is the
- 16:08Speaker 2: guy who wants money. He's not giving them a discount.
- 16:11Speaker 2: He thought that he got drafted low at thirteen. This
- 16:14Speaker 2: is one he was comparing himself to Barry Bonds and
- 16:16Speaker 2: Babe Ruth and interviews with MLB dot com.
- 16:19Speaker 10: And not on this list from a twelfth man dot com.
- 16:22Speaker 10: But I believe two signees from A and M got
- 16:25Speaker 10: picked early enough, two shortstops that they made.
- 16:28Speaker 2: Yeah, they're they're both gonna They're both gonna sign Ebel
- 16:34Speaker 2: I had the first round he went. He went to Milwaukee,
- 16:38Speaker 2: who drafted his brother in the first round yet last year.
- 16:40Speaker 2: And their dad is the third base coach of the Dodgers,
- 16:44Speaker 2: so obviously he has pedigree, and you know Milwaukee's making
- 16:50Speaker 2: the play. Hey, this is your you know, come play
- 16:52Speaker 2: with your brother. Eventually you're only a year behind him.
- 16:57Speaker 2: The number of five foot ten and a half one
- 17:00Speaker 2: hundred and eighty pound middle infielders playing in the majors.
- 17:04Speaker 2: Is real short, and you know, he doesn't swinging left handed.
- 17:11Speaker 2: His brother was six foot two and one hundred and
- 17:13Speaker 2: ninety pounds. He does not. That's that's one of the
- 17:16Speaker 2: reasons why for a long time, I ain't even thought
- 17:18Speaker 2: they were keeping and then he blew up in the
- 17:20Speaker 2: second half of his senior year and got to be
- 17:23Speaker 2: a first round pick. But that was unexpected. That was like,
- 17:27Speaker 2: that's like Zach Britten and Rob Childress's first recruiting class.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Where a guy just comes.
- 17:32Speaker 10: From nowhere to be a fresh and he's going to
- 17:36Speaker 10: bank with it, you know, slotting it in the first round.
- 17:39Speaker 10: They're going to have to pay him to keep him
- 17:40Speaker 10: out of college.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, But I think that I think that
- 17:44Speaker 2: they they probably had an agreement, so he's not.
- 17:46Speaker 10: And there was another one he's not.
- 17:49Speaker 2: He won't he won't end up here.
- 17:51Speaker 9: Yeah, second round pick, yeah, fifty fourth.
- 17:54Speaker 2: And they had pretty much thought all spring that he
- 17:57Speaker 2: was going to go that that because they.
- 17:59Speaker 10: Took three shortstops in that class. If I yeah, they've.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Got they've got other shortstops committed, So I think that,
- 18:07Speaker 2: you know, the good thing about this. And and then
- 18:10Speaker 2: you went and got Jack Bell back from TCU uh
- 18:13Speaker 2: to come in and compete at short stop. There's gonna
- 18:15Speaker 2: be there's there's a whole lot of competition that's about
- 18:19Speaker 2: to happen. And that's the best thing about it is
- 18:23Speaker 2: that you're gonna have all these guys competing. And you know,
- 18:29Speaker 2: between Jack Bell and you.
- 18:32Speaker 10: Know, you're returning a freshman that started every game.
- 18:36Speaker 2: Exactly, and you know, I think that when you have competition,
- 18:42Speaker 2: the guys are going to rise to the top. But
- 18:46Speaker 2: Matthew Kelly, who Michael Early committed when he was a freshman,
- 18:52Speaker 2: and Henderson, Nevada when he was rated the number one
- 18:56Speaker 2: shortstop in that class. Now it's not that he just
- 19:00Speaker 2: didn't you know progress. There's a guy that I just
- 19:04Speaker 2: said was five foot ten, five foot eleven and bat's
- 19:07Speaker 2: right handed. Well, this guy stuck with A and M
- 19:10Speaker 2: for a long long time. And then uh, you know,
- 19:14Speaker 2: there's also let me find the other infielder, Harper Gates,
- 19:17Speaker 2: Harper Gates and CJ.
- 19:19Speaker 9: Sampson.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Yeah, so, uh Samson. Samson's gonna be a corner. He's
- 19:23Speaker 2: he's not gonna He's not gonna play middle infield at
- 19:27Speaker 2: A and M. He'll he'll try to win the first
- 19:29Speaker 2: base job. Was you know, with the transfers that are
- 19:34Speaker 2: coming in and then the uh you know, the ones
- 19:39Speaker 2: that are already on campus. So, but there's gonna be
- 19:41Speaker 2: a lot of competitions for a few spots. I think
- 19:44Speaker 2: that's one of the things that's kind of overlooked in
- 19:46Speaker 2: this is A and M's returning like six starters everyday
- 19:50Speaker 2: starters from last year's team. It's mainly outfield and uh,
- 19:54Speaker 2: you know, in short stuff at third base, second base. Yeah,
- 19:58Speaker 2: that's what I'm saying. You you've only got a couple
- 19:59Speaker 2: of spots where you're you're trying to fill fill in.
- 20:03Speaker 10: Oh, I think every return well Partita maybe not, but
- 20:06Speaker 10: every every returning starter is going to have to earn
- 20:08Speaker 10: their spot again.
- 20:09Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yes, there's no doubt about it. You know,
- 20:13Speaker 2: you you got to find a catcher, and you have
- 20:16Speaker 2: to find a first basement, and you got to find
- 20:18Speaker 2: a center field or if you just looked at who
- 20:20Speaker 2: was leaving and you know, but your and your second
- 20:24Speaker 2: basement in a coopian so up the middle. But you
- 20:29Speaker 2: want to be strong up the middle. So they'll have
- 20:30Speaker 2: to find guys to get that. Well, we ran. We
- 20:33Speaker 2: ran pretty long, there, didn't we.
- 20:36Speaker 14: We did.
- 20:37Speaker 10: We did what we could for you, Yeah, we did.
- 20:39Speaker 2: You did what we could for me. I thought I
- 20:41Speaker 2: was a sidekick today. No, no, I I was the
- 20:45Speaker 2: one who someone else had already said they were going
- 20:47Speaker 2: to have this job today. I didn't. I told him
- 20:50Speaker 2: I wasn't gona be here until four and fifteen. But
- 20:52Speaker 2: I didn't get a text back. So maybe that's my fault.
- 20:54Speaker 2: So I appreciate y'all standing in for me as I
- 20:57Speaker 2: sit down. But is that Chad Jones Law that we
- 21:03Speaker 2: got to go to?

- 21:17Speaker 8: do injuries from car recks. But you didn't sign up

- 22:22Speaker 15: player in program history. You have him for one year,
- 22:26Speaker 15: but Chris Acopian, what a special season for him. I
- 22:30Speaker 15: am gonna remember the one year of Acopian as grit right,
- 22:34Speaker 15: the way he battled through those backs bats early face pop. Yes,
- 22:38Speaker 15: he took a ninety five mile an hour fastball to
- 22:40Speaker 15: the face on a Friday night in Baton Rouge, and
- 22:42Speaker 15: he's back in the lineup on Saturday afternoon. He played
- 22:45Speaker 15: the last month and a half on a broken leg.
- 22:48Speaker 15: He runs into Jorian Wilson in Gainesville and suffers a
- 22:51Speaker 15: small fracture and plays through it.
- 22:54Speaker 7: What a tough dude.
- 22:55Speaker 15: He hits over three hundred. The back totball skills are
- 22:57Speaker 15: elite and might be among the best anywhere in the
- 23:00Speaker 15: entire draft. That's why his hometown Washington Nationals. And isn't
- 23:04Speaker 15: that a cool story? Take him eleventh overall, He's a
- 23:08Speaker 15: d m V kid.
- 23:09Speaker 9: Pecksag's live weekdays from eight to eleven on the Zone.
- 23:33Speaker 16: Stop Stop, all right.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Welcome back to Chip Howard Sports. Stop here on a
- 23:57Speaker 2: Monday afternoon, getting you ready for we got home run
- 24:02Speaker 2: derby tonight? Is that is that right?
- 24:04Speaker 10: Yep?
- 24:04Speaker 9: On Netflix of all places, on what Netflix, on what exactly.
- 24:16Speaker 2: Yesterday, and I don't want to take all my topics
- 24:20Speaker 2: with Rusty. Was it the Astros and the Rangers, And
- 24:28Speaker 2: I didn't know this, but it was to take my
- 24:31Speaker 2: brother to a ballgame and he's a Rangers fan and
- 24:33Speaker 2: that is the first time he has ever seen them
- 24:35Speaker 2: Rangers beat the Astros. So I was kind of I
- 24:43Speaker 2: was kind of hoping in the night that anyone the
- 24:47Speaker 2: Astros had the lead that I had gotten a ticket
- 24:50Speaker 2: to him for the Alcs in twenty twenty three. But
- 24:54Speaker 2: that's that's just that's another story. The the interesting thing
- 25:02Speaker 2: that I saw this weekend, as I'm going to change
- 25:07Speaker 2: to another topic, was men's basketball and one of the
- 25:13Speaker 2: early early top twenty fives. You know, it's that it's that, hey,
- 25:21Speaker 2: we're all undefeated time of season and the the uh loss.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Gonzaga had one of their top prospects decide that they
- 25:37Speaker 2: wanted to go play in Europe and they dropped from
- 25:44Speaker 2: nine to fourteen because they had their starting point guard.
- 25:54Speaker 2: Projected starting point guard Mario sat Superior signed a four
- 26:02Speaker 2: year contract with a euro club in Spain for fifteen
- 26:08Speaker 2: million dollars. Wow. So actually that is the first time
- 26:14Speaker 2: since nil really came into play that I look up
- 26:19Speaker 2: and I see a non NBA level team decide that
- 26:26Speaker 2: they want to compete and they're not just going to
- 26:29Speaker 2: give up on a guy going to take the NIL
- 26:36Speaker 2: and end up playing college basketball. Now, do I think
- 26:40Speaker 2: that Gonzaga has the nil that some people have and
- 26:45Speaker 2: it's a no they have you know they're going to
- 26:49Speaker 2: lose kids. This is not like Kentucky who played seven
- 26:53Speaker 2: million dollars for a guy that that EURO team would
- 26:56Speaker 2: have been just as happy to sign. But you know,
- 27:03Speaker 2: when you do when we are seeing in this day
- 27:05Speaker 2: and age that players will stay for nil, there are
- 27:14Speaker 2: plenty of sec college baseball players and potential recruits that
- 27:21Speaker 2: are going to turn down good money and pull themselves
- 27:31Speaker 2: out of the baseball draft for the simple fact that
- 27:34Speaker 2: they're being offered just as much money to stay at
- 27:39Speaker 2: LSU or A and M or wherever it happens to be,
- 27:41Speaker 2: or George or these powers that those if you're not
- 27:46Speaker 2: going in the first ten rounds or you're not getting
- 27:50Speaker 2: a whole bunch of money, you're going to come back
- 27:53Speaker 2: to school. Steven Mylin pulled his name out of the
- 27:55Speaker 2: draft while the NCAA Baseball tournam was still going on
- 28:01Speaker 2: and decided that he wanted to come back. Now you
- 28:07Speaker 2: you sit there and you say, well, when when did
- 28:10Speaker 2: the money get to that point? Well, it's it's you know,
- 28:14Speaker 2: it's kind of been that growing that way. But Mileam,
- 28:22Speaker 2: who's a good shortstop. I'm not going to act like
- 28:25Speaker 2: he's not a good shortstop, is a career three zero
- 28:30Speaker 2: five hitter and has thirty home runs and one hundred
- 28:32Speaker 2: and forty six RBIs. His best year swinging the bat
- 28:36Speaker 2: average wise, was when he was a freshman, and then
- 28:41Speaker 2: the last two years he's had two ninety five and
- 28:44Speaker 2: ninety six. So we're not talking about a guy that's
- 28:49Speaker 2: you know, like we said with Oklahoma State who had
- 28:53Speaker 2: thirty one home runs last year, this guy has thirty
- 28:57Speaker 2: home runs for his career and that us you offered
- 29:00Speaker 2: him enough money that he's not going to uh to
- 29:05Speaker 2: skip college baseball. So it was just still surprising to
- 29:11Speaker 2: see somebody in the euro Basketball League say, hey, you're
- 29:18Speaker 2: European guy. Your you know, you know what European basketball
- 29:24Speaker 2: is about. Why don't we lock you up with you know,
- 29:30Speaker 2: a four year contract. So that just kind of surprised me.
- 29:34Speaker 2: That kind of surprised me. All right, let's uh let
- 29:40Speaker 2: Chip to come on in here again and we'll go
- 29:43Speaker 2: to break with him telling us about the great folks
- 29:45Speaker 2: over at Sepcheck Service Center.
- 29:47Speaker 12: Hey, if your car, your truck didn't run the way
- 29:49Speaker 12: was supposed to this past weekend, stop in and see
- 29:52Speaker 12: my friends at Sepcheck Service Center. When I say long,

- 30:05Speaker 12: you there, whether it's something small like an oil change
- 30:09Speaker 12: or something a little.
- 30:10Speaker 2: Bit more complicated.
- 30:11Speaker 12: They take care of these things every day, and there's
- 30:13Speaker 12: no better place to go for emergencies, debt, batteries, flat tires.
- 30:18Speaker 12: This is what they do day in and day out.

- 32:04Speaker 2: July welcome back To Chip howard sports talker on A monday,
- 32:29Speaker 2: afternoon and hopefully, everybody this used to be a three
- 32:34Speaker 2: day break where there really was no, sports and this
- 32:36Speaker 2: was really the only three days that Like chip would
- 32:39Speaker 2: would like actually take. Off so it's kind of kind
- 32:44Speaker 2: of nice that we still have some sports to talk about,
- 32:50Speaker 2: with you, know The World cup and the craziness that
- 32:54Speaker 2: is still continuing on the top four teams advanced to
- 33:04Speaker 2: play in The World. Cup and even though there has
- 33:12Speaker 2: been some not spectacular play By, argentina they're the defending.
- 33:18Speaker 2: Champion they made the. Semifinals they are six and zero
- 33:22Speaker 2: in the. Semifinals you Have, england who has lost their
- 33:29Speaker 2: last three trips to the. SEMIFINALS i don't know if
- 33:36Speaker 2: you know that or if you know that The english
- 33:42Speaker 2: and The argentinems really don't like each. Other so the
- 33:47Speaker 2: fact that you can have them face off in The
- 33:53Speaker 2: World cup is really kind of interesting, because you, know
- 33:58Speaker 2: as much as we don't want athletics to be political certain,
- 34:06Speaker 2: times the politics and the sports. INTERCEPT i think That
- 34:14Speaker 2: spain has already gone through that they had to Play,
- 34:16Speaker 2: portugal who you, know being That spain And portugal are geographic,
- 34:25Speaker 2: neighbors it kind of leads to the same kind of. Situation,
- 34:30Speaker 2: so you, know being In, dallas it was really weird
- 34:36Speaker 2: going to The rangers game yesterday to actually look over
- 34:39Speaker 2: AT at AND t and see everything covered. Up it
- 34:44Speaker 2: is not covered up like it is In San francisco
- 34:49Speaker 2: and In. Atlanta you actually can't see that it SAYS
- 34:56Speaker 2: at AND T stadium on it AND i mean you
- 35:01Speaker 2: look up there on top of the roof and wonder
- 35:03Speaker 2: what those boxes. Are, well they're what is covering it.
- 35:07Speaker 2: Up they are estimating one hundred and thirty million dollar
- 35:15Speaker 2: bump in their in their economy this year In dallas
- 35:24Speaker 2: in a relatively quiet time of. YEAR i, mean, yes
- 35:29Speaker 2: The rangers are going, on but The rangers are not
- 35:31Speaker 2: playing the kind of baseball that that is packing out
- 35:37Speaker 2: the park right. Now it was great. YESTERDAY i mean
- 35:41Speaker 2: there are forty five thousand folks, paid so it was
- 35:44Speaker 2: you know that's. There but they're one of the restaurants
- 35:50Speaker 2: up there that that has parking in a. Shuttle they
- 35:54Speaker 2: have DONE i think it was twenty two thousand shuttle
- 36:06Speaker 2: rides from their restaurant at seventeen dollars a. Pop and
- 36:12Speaker 2: those people are coming there and eating and staying. There
- 36:17Speaker 2: so it's really you, know guys taking advantage that people
- 36:23Speaker 2: that are familiar With dallas probably know, this But i'm
- 36:27Speaker 2: not saying like right next to the, stadium but In
- 36:30Speaker 2: Grand prairie and they have where there was a water
- 36:34Speaker 2: park and you, know The, ripley's believe it or, not
- 36:37Speaker 2: in The house Of wax and stuff like. That they've
- 36:39Speaker 2: got a Decent motel six there that on soccer days
- 36:48Speaker 2: is running eight hundred dollars a. Night that's pretty. Good
- 36:54Speaker 2: they're making. Bank so everything that you wanted to have,
- 36:58Speaker 2: HAPPEN i think. Happened. Now the prices have come down
- 37:02Speaker 2: Since TEAM usa came, out but not if you Have,
- 37:05Speaker 2: argentina not if you have you, know not if if you,
- 37:09Speaker 2: know when you get to these final, four they've got
- 37:12Speaker 2: enough fans to pack out those. Stadiums so you, KNOW
- 37:16Speaker 2: i just think that the excitement that that can happen
- 37:24Speaker 2: the next two days With france And spain and then
- 37:29Speaker 2: On wednesday With england And argentina has led to, uh you,
- 37:37Speaker 2: know great. Soccer so you, know we had a c
- 37:43Speaker 2: s orties on last. Week he Picked, FRANCE i Picked.
- 37:47Speaker 2: Spain we'll know one way or the other coming. Up of,
- 37:54Speaker 2: course once, again the games on the pitch can't be
- 37:59Speaker 2: played without some accusation of you, know malfeass and everything
- 38:07Speaker 2: that goes on with. That it kind of reminded me
- 38:11Speaker 2: of the fact that people were, saying you, know when
- 38:13Speaker 2: the player got sent off Against, argentina.
- 38:22Speaker 10: You know and.
- 38:24Speaker 2: Who you know who benefits from. That, well you, know
- 38:30Speaker 2: they reversed a they reversed a red card of a
- 38:33Speaker 2: yellow card that was unjustly. Called and the guy who
- 38:39Speaker 2: took a, dive, okay he he took a. Dive it's
- 38:47Speaker 2: no difference than in THE nba. Finals and you take
- 38:51Speaker 2: a flop and they appeal the. Foul if that's your
- 38:57Speaker 2: foul to value out you, have you need to have
- 38:59Speaker 2: a called on. THEM i, mean it's a foul for a,
- 39:03Speaker 2: reason SO i you, KNOW i understand that it put

- 42:51Speaker 14: Com Thank Houston, Astro Houston astros play on this one
- 42:57Speaker 14: thanks To Kelly Bird dozer road down before. Riding i'm
- 43:20Speaker 14: in begging about my.
- 43:23Speaker 2: Welcome back To Chip Howard Sports talk here on A,
- 43:26Speaker 2: monday as we are going to Have Rusty bertson join
- 43:31Speaker 2: me here coming up in our number. Two we'll spend
- 43:34Speaker 2: some time talking baseball and The All Star game And
- 43:38Speaker 2: Aggie draft and all that kind of, stuff, uh you,
- 43:41Speaker 2: know in in our number.
- 43:42Speaker 10: Two so.
- 43:45Speaker 2: It is still college basketball time of. Year The aggies
- 43:50Speaker 2: are still preparing to go on a h trip down
- 43:55Speaker 2: to The. BAHAMAS i, mean it's you, know it's it's
- 43:58Speaker 2: pretty tough when when you have to go down to
- 44:01Speaker 2: The bahamas and. Play but it's the great thing about
- 44:06Speaker 2: it is the practice and the opportunity for this coaching
- 44:10Speaker 2: staff to work with everybody that's coming back and then
- 44:14Speaker 2: go play games because there's a lot of. Turnover but
- 44:18Speaker 2: you've got a coach that's pretty pumped up and excited
- 44:21Speaker 2: about the opportunity that the talent this team. Provides So
- 44:25Speaker 2: bucky McMillan met the press this. Afternoon here's what the
- 44:29Speaker 2: head coach had to.
- 44:30Speaker 7: Say how have you seen McKenzie kind of integrate that.
- 44:35Speaker 7: Instance he's been back in full, contact he's been.
- 44:37Speaker 14: Good he's.
- 44:37Speaker 13: Rusty you, know the game processing is not where he's
- 44:40Speaker 13: going to be, obviously like anybody if they said out as.
- 44:43Speaker 7: Long as he has physically looks good.
- 44:46Speaker 13: THOUGH i mean thing with, mackenzie he always gives you
- 44:49Speaker 13: everything he's, Got like he plays really.
- 44:50Speaker 7: HARD i know that's like a repetitive.
- 44:52Speaker 13: Thing but a lot of players that you know kind
- 44:55Speaker 13: of come from his, background they can be prima.
- 44:57Speaker 7: Donnas that's not. Him he's gonna give everything he's.
- 44:59Speaker 13: Got but games are probably a little too fast for
- 45:01Speaker 13: him right, now which is what we. Expect my job
- 45:04Speaker 13: as a coach is to get it to be able
- 45:06Speaker 13: to play. Fast but seems slow right and he'll get.
- 45:09Speaker 13: There But i'm pleased with where he is, physically that's for.
- 45:12Speaker 15: Sure if he had to sit out of, here do
- 45:14Speaker 15: you see him as a different player this year than
- 45:16Speaker 15: maybe he was when he got?
- 45:17Speaker 7: Here from when he's, OBSERVED i.
- 45:19Speaker 13: Still say him, as you, know just a really good
- 45:21Speaker 13: player that can help, us you, know, uh compete in this.
- 45:24Speaker 7: LEAGUE i mean he'd got the, size the, tools the.
- 45:26Speaker 13: ATTRIBUTES i mean he's done it on on big stages,
- 45:29Speaker 13: obviously and power for, basketball.
- 45:32Speaker 7: So you, know everything's WHAT i thought when we recruited
- 45:36Speaker 7: he's coming off the.
- 45:37Speaker 10: Injuries the second.
- 45:38Speaker 7: Time do you want to be more careful with him
- 45:41Speaker 7: the rest of the off season or do you feel
- 45:42Speaker 7: like he's now at a Place, yeah great.
- 45:46Speaker 13: Question so you know the thing With, mackenzie like you
- 45:49Speaker 13: got to hold him, back LIKE i, mean like he
- 45:51Speaker 13: played on a broken, foot you, know and he'd you,
- 45:54Speaker 13: know it's just basically just like toughing it. Out like
- 45:57Speaker 13: he's just one of these really strong willed people always
- 46:00Speaker 13: in the. Gym so like he's somebody that like we
- 46:03Speaker 13: got to really keep an eye on because he's gonna
- 46:06Speaker 13: he's gonna be out, there you, know more than. ANYBODY
- 46:09Speaker 13: i mean, LITERALLY i mean you got guys that sit,
- 46:11Speaker 13: out you, know college, basketball you, know because you know
- 46:15Speaker 13: they had a crook in their. Neck they woke up, funny,
- 46:17Speaker 13: right you, know and you know they're they're they're, eighteen
- 46:19Speaker 13: nineteen years. OLD i, mean this kind of broken bones
- 46:22Speaker 13: in his foot playing and because he just thought like
- 46:25Speaker 13: his mind could overcome.
- 46:27Speaker 7: It so, anyway we got to keep we gotta keep
- 46:30Speaker 7: an eye on.
- 46:30Speaker 13: It but there's also different than football or anything like,
- 46:32Speaker 13: that because, football a lot of times you wait till
- 46:35Speaker 13: game day to get, ready you, know the skill involved
- 46:38Speaker 13: to be like more like being a, Quarterback like he's
- 46:40Speaker 13: got to get his skill back up and the timing
- 46:42Speaker 13: with HIS uh, receivers get it?
- 46:45Speaker 7: Right you want him to play in The bahamas or,
- 46:50Speaker 7: yeah he'll. Play, YEAH i mean he's.
- 46:51Speaker 13: PRACTICING i mean know it'd be easier for him to
- 46:53Speaker 13: play than anything, is assuming no.
- 46:56Speaker 7: Setbacks, right, Yeah so.
- 46:59Speaker 13: Once are you leading him and the other returners to
- 47:01Speaker 13: really implement your system and how you guys run things.
- 47:03Speaker 7: Around here for the new, Guys, yeah that's.
- 47:05Speaker 13: GOOD i mean we you, know obviously when the more
- 47:07Speaker 13: returners you, have the Better these guys pick up on
- 47:10Speaker 13: it pretty, decent you. Know obviously it's a little bit,
- 47:13Speaker 13: different so the new guys will be an adjustment period for.
- 47:16Speaker 13: Him but you know, him and you Know Lucas wallas
- 47:18Speaker 13: has helped a lot with. That lucas and he played
- 47:20Speaker 13: for me or years At sanford are recruiting for a.
- 47:23Speaker 13: While his high school, coach we know them. Well that
- 47:27Speaker 13: kind of started doing some of the things we do
- 47:28Speaker 13: before he even got. There So josh helped a lot last.
- 47:32Speaker 13: Year lucas is helping this. Year BUT i do think
- 47:35Speaker 13: that the standard of how hard we got to play
- 47:37Speaker 13: and how you got to play. SELFISH i think the reputations.
- 47:40Speaker 7: Out there that.
- 47:42Speaker 13: You're not going to play no matter how good you,
- 47:44Speaker 13: are if you're not going to share the ball and
- 47:46Speaker 13: you're not going to play as hard as you, can
- 47:47Speaker 13: you won't. Play and so that's been SOMETHING i think
- 47:49Speaker 13: everybody is brought into. It and when you have more
- 47:53Speaker 13: time to recruit, kids we can recruit them.
- 47:54Speaker 7: And they know what they're getting. Into is the ahe
- 47:58Speaker 7: based model change at? All if it's since it?
- 48:00Speaker 2: Is does it change at all how you look at,
- 48:02Speaker 2: recruiting roster, building anything like.
- 48:04Speaker 13: That, yeah it. Will i'm not onto it, Yet like
- 48:08Speaker 13: because all of a, sudden now we're looking at well
- 48:11Speaker 13: you're looking at recruiting high school.
- 48:12Speaker 7: Kids now of a suddenverybodys got to make it another fifth.
- 48:14Speaker 13: Year so these poor high school kids is, tough you,
- 48:17Speaker 13: know just because of, That now it changes, like.
- 48:21Speaker 7: Oh you just added a whole nother.
- 48:22Speaker 13: Class so BUT i don't even take my mind, there
- 48:26Speaker 13: because every time you take your mind, there this is
- 48:29Speaker 13: where it's going to. Be something else come to, them
- 48:31Speaker 13: right all of a, Sudden i'll blink in about, oh
- 48:32Speaker 13: you actually get three.
- 48:33Speaker 7: Years and all these guys are, out so you, know
- 48:35Speaker 7: you just got to take.
- 48:36Speaker 13: In the stride and roll with the punches and that's
- 48:38Speaker 13: when you get. That then you hold your breath for
- 48:40Speaker 13: court cases and all the fun.
- 48:42Speaker 22: Stuff there's some of the lens of being a former
- 48:44Speaker 22: high school coach for so, long like what would YOUR
- 48:48Speaker 22: i guess the advice be to these high school kids
- 48:51Speaker 22: that are hoping, to you, know break onto the college,
- 48:53Speaker 22: level but it just feels harder now with the.
- 48:55Speaker 13: PORTAL i would say the first thing, is don't be arrogant, anyway,
- 49:00Speaker 13: like be very appreciative anybody is recruiting.
- 49:03Speaker 7: You you will go a.
- 49:05Speaker 1: Level you.
- 49:06Speaker 7: Know the saying in high.
- 49:07Speaker 13: School always said this to my parents WHEN i coach
- 49:09Speaker 13: high school is every player is a level below where
- 49:11Speaker 13: they think they, are and two parents and two levels
- 49:13Speaker 13: below where their parents think they are.
- 49:15Speaker 7: Right so, like let's just amplify that in times that by.
- 49:18Speaker 13: Two let's say there are two levels below where they
- 49:21Speaker 13: think they are in four levels, below their parents think
- 49:23Speaker 13: they are six levels below their granddad or grandmam thinks
- 49:26Speaker 13: they are. Right so let's amp that up and just
- 49:28Speaker 13: say in this day and, age it's just not.
- 49:29Speaker 7: Enough scholarships to go, around and now it is a.
- 49:32Speaker 13: Journey we want to recruit players at the power for
- 49:35Speaker 13: a level that are goodness to play power for basketball
- 49:39Speaker 13: and they can stay there four. Years that's very rare
- 49:41Speaker 13: that there's not many players out there that can do, that.
- 49:43Speaker 13: Right we feel that we're going to find some of,
- 49:45Speaker 13: Those but for everybody, else getting to the getting the
- 49:48Speaker 13: power four levels a goal probably going to go a
- 49:50Speaker 13: lot different. Routes a lot of times where there's prep,
- 49:52Speaker 13: school low, major mid major to high major.
- 49:56Speaker 7: All that's a little bit. Different you.
- 49:58Speaker 13: KNOW i do think it is better for a play
- 50:01Speaker 13: to get places where you know they can, play you,
- 50:03Speaker 13: KNOW i do think that's important.
- 50:05Speaker 2: Redundant but is there any updates on The weaver?
- 50:08Speaker 7: GUYS u one forgot?
- 50:14Speaker 4: What?
- 50:14Speaker 7: MARK i don't even know we can you, know with
- 50:19Speaker 7: no no, updates no no, update nothing changed his. Lifetime.
- 50:23Speaker 7: YEAH i want to ask About.
- 50:25Speaker 22: Jay how you've seen him kind of reintegrate after recovering
- 50:29Speaker 22: from his injury and you feel like there's more that
- 50:32Speaker 22: you can unlock from.
- 50:32Speaker 10: His game than what we might have seen.
- 50:34Speaker 7: THAT i think he's really.
- 50:37Speaker 13: GOOD i just think he's got all the attributes of
- 50:39Speaker 13: a professional. PLAYER i, mean he's six,' nine it seems
- 50:43Speaker 13: like a longer with point, guard skills processes the game.
- 50:46Speaker 7: Really quickly just got to get a shooting to a.
- 50:49Speaker 7: High LEVEL but i mean he's got all the tools
- 50:52Speaker 7: you got. To have now it comes. The intangibles, you
- 50:55Speaker 7: know can you have the toughness Of For? Sean ag
- 50:57Speaker 7: you Know what, i'm saying can you?
- 50:58Speaker 13: Do it you know in, those moments it's like that's
- 51:01Speaker 13: really kind of the separator and all this, stuff is,
- 51:03Speaker 13: you know everybody's a, good player and he has every
- 51:05Speaker 13: physical Attributes With shawn ag for. HIS position i was
- 51:08Speaker 13: just Out in vegas At The summer League watching sean
- 51:10Speaker 13: and probably had none of the physical attributes to play,
- 51:13Speaker 13: a five, you know in this league at, his size
- 51:17Speaker 13: but he had just the every intangible from the vocal
- 51:20Speaker 13: to the toughness and. All that and so when the
- 51:22Speaker 13: bullet starts Flying, with, shelley like can he? Have that
- 51:25Speaker 13: because if he, has that he's got, the size, the link,
- 51:28Speaker 13: the skill all. Of that but that's the other part
- 51:31Speaker 13: that you know some of he's. Got it, you know
- 51:34Speaker 13: he's got two. Great parents he's great to, talk to,
- 51:36Speaker 13: very smart but, you know we got to see when the,
- 51:38Speaker 13: adversary strikes like he got that dog you, gotta have,
- 51:41Speaker 13: you know, you.
- 51:42Speaker 5: Know we talk about how important this work is and
- 51:44Speaker 5: integrating the new guys with the guys that have been.
- 51:46Speaker 7: Here before just where do you feel like you guys
- 51:48Speaker 7: are in? That process are you kind of at the
- 51:50Speaker 7: spot you want to be at this point?
- 51:51Speaker 13: In time we're head of last year just because we have,
- 51:55Speaker 13: guys here, you know we're able. TO practice i like,
- 51:57Speaker 13: the group like no coaches time HE like i hate,
- 51:59Speaker 13: the group, you KNOW but i like. The group, you
- 52:00Speaker 13: know there's some things that like we're. Definitely longer we
- 52:05Speaker 13: looked more of. The part it's gonna be harder to
- 52:07Speaker 13: scoring us in the, half COURT like i felt like,
- 52:08Speaker 13: Last year like people, could say, you know we had
- 52:10Speaker 13: some cold, scoring Games but i'm, telling you like we
- 52:14Speaker 13: finish in, league play, you, know analytically like the third
- 52:17Speaker 13: best defense in the league for that group. LAST year
- 52:20Speaker 13: i mean that's crazy because we were. So small usually
- 52:24Speaker 13: you need link, for that AND so i was very
- 52:26Speaker 13: well of, anything else more proud of that. Than anything
- 52:30Speaker 13: this group, is longer and it should physically be a better.
- 52:34Speaker 13: Defensive team should, you know.
- 52:36Speaker 7: And so you know that that we got to.
- 52:38Speaker 13: Improve, on now we got to get last year's group came,
- 52:41Speaker 13: in here could shoot it to death because they, were
- 52:44Speaker 13: smaller they had a little, more skill could, pass it see,
- 52:46Speaker 13: the game, all that and you can take it. For
- 52:50Speaker 13: granted sometimes this group's got a little ways to go,
- 52:52Speaker 13: with that and so our practicing has got to be
- 52:55Speaker 13: on to continue to develop our shooting and. Our processing
- 52:59Speaker 13: you like, last year you weren't going to see many
- 53:01Speaker 13: times it's a two on one break and it doesn't
- 53:03Speaker 13: get where it needs to go or three, on two
- 53:06Speaker 13: you Know what, I'm, saying like, you know right right
- 53:08Speaker 13: now we can have a two on one break and
- 53:10Speaker 13: can't figure out who to throw it to? Right now
- 53:13Speaker 13: only one other option right and it's not me standing out.
- 53:15Speaker 13: Of bounds so like we got to keep getting that
- 53:17Speaker 13: part of, our game which. We will it's just kind
- 53:19Speaker 13: of figuring out what your team needs.
- 53:21Speaker 22: Long Ways, from november but just wondering what kind of
- 53:24Speaker 22: role do you sort of hope To see Jamie about.
- 53:26Speaker 7: Tom here jamis improved.
- 53:28Speaker 13: A ton he's, in here, you, know practicing comes in
- 53:30Speaker 13: twice a day and he's been doing that since the,
- 53:32Speaker 13: season's over and then obviously He's with darby. Lifting WEIGHTS
- 53:35Speaker 13: but I, mean jamie, YOU know, I mean i think
- 53:38Speaker 13: At The, summer league, you know the guy's asking Me,
- 53:40Speaker 13: about jamie like he's on. People's radar you don't get
- 53:43Speaker 13: a lot of people that size that have. Shooting ability
- 53:46Speaker 13: he can. Make shots, you know, he's long and he
- 53:49Speaker 13: kind of develop and playing the game later than. Most people,
- 53:52Speaker 13: You know jamie's just got to keep working like. He's
- 53:55Speaker 13: working but he's got a, You know connor McGregor lying
- 54:00Speaker 13: like he's got to start now going to practice and
- 54:03Speaker 13: going to games not to, take part but to. Take
- 54:06Speaker 13: over and that's got to be his mindset that he's
- 54:09Speaker 13: here above all else to make it miserable for. Who's
- 54:12Speaker 13: playing don't worry about playing, Good basketball like make this guy.
- 54:15Speaker 13: Hate you he's such a. Nice kid, you know it's
