- 0:02Hey, welcome to the City Point Church podcast.
- 0:04Thanks for joining us. Every day is an opportunity to
- 0:07take hold of. So we hope this message inspires
- 0:10you and build your faith that it helps you have more of a God
- 0:13perspective for your day. Enjoy.
- 0:15Bless. You guys have a seat.
- 0:21Wonderful. I just love how excited you guys
- 0:23get whenever you hear the word of God is going to be preached.
- 0:27It does. It brings a smile to my face.
- 0:29It's like, let's stand and celebrate the word of God.
- 0:32And I just love how enthusiastic you all are.
- 0:33Please never, ever lose that. Yeah.
- 0:37Because the more you get to know God, the more you fall in love
- 0:39with him, the more you realize it's not just about Amazing
- 0:43Grace with God. It's like amazing everything.
- 0:48I'm pretty sure for the first gazillion years been in glory,
- 0:52there's some people, you know, they're the party people.
- 0:54They're going to be worshiping, celebrating.
- 0:56I'm I'm going to be standing there pretty much dumb struck
- 0:59and just go for a very long time.
- 1:03Someone's going to take me on the shoulder and go.
- 1:05It's OK John, just move on. We are in a season of faith,
- 1:11love and hope. The preach for today is called
- 1:16the greatest of these. That's what I'm called the
- 1:18greatest of these because that verse, when I was a child, that
- 1:22verse really confused me. It's First Corinthians 1313,
- 1:26which I'm sure for those who've been around for a while would
- 1:29have heard multiple times, but I want to go through it now.
- 1:33First Corinthians 1313 says, and now abide.
- 1:37Faith, hope, love, these three, OK?
- 1:41Abide means, you know, submerge yourself in it, live in it,
- 1:45abide, faith, hope, love these three, but the greatest of these
- 1:50is love agape. Love agape love is a selfless
- 1:56love. It is a pouring out kind of
- 1:59love. It's one of those loves that you
- 2:02really kind of get more of a taste for as you become like a
- 2:05parent or a grandparent and you just want to pour yourself out
- 2:11for this object that will probably never do anything for
- 2:15you. That particular the day you're
- 2:18like, I gave you everything today.
- 2:20Where's my stuff? Doesn't happen.
- 2:23Yeah, Bubba. Hello, darling.
- 2:27Like that. Well, that that was for me.
- 2:28Thank you, darling. OK, so.
- 2:31But this verse used to really confuse me when I was a child
- 2:33because I thought faith, surely faith is the greatest of these.
- 2:41Surely. Remember the old days when
- 2:44people were told that salvation is by faith alone because they
- 2:49never read the book of James? And so that was my childhood.
- 2:53I'm like, well, you know, faith has to be faith.
- 2:56So it can't be love has to be faith.
- 3:00But as we read the Word of God, we find out that actually grace
- 3:05is a gift. It's just the generous,
- 3:09beautiful nature of God. It is that love.
- 3:11It's that giving. It's the I want to extend and
- 3:14give grace. One of the most beautiful verses
- 3:18is an Acts 1511. It's on the screen.
- 3:20But this is the apostles and this is Paul.
- 3:23And they're all speaking to each other.
- 3:24And they said we believe in James.
- 3:28We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we
- 3:33are saved. It's through his grace that we
- 3:36are saved. He doesn't even mention the word
- 3:39faith here. It's a beautiful gift.
- 3:41It's the nature of God to want to give grace.
- 3:45And then of course, we read in Ephesians 28 to 9:00 that this
- 3:48happens through faith. But interestingly, grace also
- 3:52occurs through repentance. It even says that repentance
- 3:54leads to salvation in 2nd Corinthians 710.
- 3:58And then as we read, it is also through the washing and the
- 4:01rebirth and the renewal of the Holy Spirit.
- 4:04And you read that in Titus chapter 3.
- 4:08So faith is important, but it's only one of many, many important
- 4:13things. And of course there's hope, but
- 4:18hope in our modern understanding can sound an awful lot like a
- 4:22pipe dream. For those who don't know what a
- 4:24pipe dream is, it actually is a term that started from the opium
- 4:27dens, right? So what would happen is
- 4:30especially 18th and 19th century, early 20th century,
- 4:33there was a thing about, you know, opium, right?
- 4:35And that would get into these dans and they would be smoking
- 4:37away and it would fill the room with opium, which is basically a
- 4:43drug. And it fills the room with
- 4:45smoke. And people would have these
- 4:47wonderful dreams and visions. And they were doing it not just
- 4:50because they were addicted to drugs.
- 4:52It was one of the painkillers back then.
- 4:56So people would smoking opium for pain relief, then they were
- 5:00getting wildly addicted to it, and then they'd end up in these
- 5:03dens all together doing it. But that's where the term pipe
- 5:06dream come from. Because as soon as the smoke
- 5:10went away, so did the dream and the vision and the enthusiasm.
- 5:16And we tend to see hope that way as well.
- 5:21So in today's understanding, things like faith and hope are
- 5:26intangible. They're unreal.
- 5:30You know, you'll often hear people say, you know, I believe
- 5:33in science, not faith, because faith is imaginary.
- 5:37But that's not what faith and hope are.
- 5:40In the Bible, the original foundation of faith and hope is
- 5:48actually tangible. And they both point to love,
- 5:56which is why the greatest, the greatest of these is love.
- 6:01So .1 for those who are point takers, faith anchors us, which
- 6:06is bizarre because an anchor is something that has to be true
- 6:11and real. Hey, you know, you can't just
- 6:13anchor yourself to something that's imaginary, you know,
- 6:17imagine, like if you know, trying to anchor or hold on to
- 6:20something that's not real. So how does faith anchor us if
- 6:24it's not real? And I guess the best way for me
- 6:28to explain this is that faith and belief are different in
- 6:32their structure. So for example, I believe that
- 6:36when I walked up here on the platform that it would support
- 6:40my weight and it would be fine. You know, you can jump up and
- 6:42down and it won't collapse under me, but I have faith that the
- 6:49words that I'm speaking will change your life and your heart
- 6:53through the power of the Holy Spirit, and that hopefully it
- 6:58will produce a walk that's even closer to God.
- 7:01That's faith. Now, who's to say that my belief
- 7:06in the platform is more real than my faith in the
- 7:10transformation of your life of the Holy Spirit?
- 7:13Like, who's to say which is more real?
- 7:15And people like. Oh, yeah.
- 7:17But John, you can touch the platform.
- 7:19Yes, but my faith touches heaven.
- 7:23I don't see heaven, John. OK, but you know, I don't see
- 7:27gravity either. I see how it affects everything
- 7:33around me. If I drop the mic, bam.
- 7:37But I don't see gravity. Anyone here seen the gravity
- 7:39lately? Can you bring it up here?
- 7:42Do you believe in gravity? Oh, that's weird.
- 7:44Hey, something you see or can't see?
- 7:47What about wind? Feel like I see wind?
- 7:50No, you don't. What you see is how it affects
- 7:53things around you. So, you know, one of my favorite
- 7:56things is actually to sit on the patio.
- 7:58I really do like the trees in the background when it's windy
- 8:01because they sway slowly. Have you seen that?
- 8:03It's like lovely. Now I don't sit there and freak
- 8:06out and go, it's magic. They're moving by themselves
- 8:13because I don't see wind, but I know it's there and it's real.
- 8:20And just because you can't see something or even touch
- 8:23something doesn't mean it's not real.
- 8:25Good example is your thoughts. Anyone here touch somebody's
- 8:29thought lately? No.
- 8:33OK, But we're pretty sure thoughts are real.
- 8:37Yeah, so just because you can't see or physically touch
- 8:42something also doesn't mean it's not true.
- 8:47In Romans 1 chapter 17 and in Galatians 311, Paul quotes an
- 8:52ancient prophet by the name of Habakkuk.
- 8:55All right, so Habakkuk 2 verse 4, it says the just shall live
- 9:00by faith. The Hebrew word there is MNR or
- 9:04MNR. All right.
- 9:06So lots of different ways to explain that.
- 9:08But Paul saw the word MNR as a way live faith.
- 9:14All right. But the bizarre thing about the
- 9:17word MNR is it's really closely related to the word Amit.
- 9:22Amit means truth, not some fanciful weird like magical
- 9:29thing called faith. No, it's very, very closely
- 9:33related to the word truth. And in fact, faith and truth are
- 9:39interchangeable. In Deuteronomy 32 verse 4, this
- 9:43is what it says. It says he is the rock talking
- 9:46of God. His work is perfect for all his
- 9:50ways of judgement. Give this a God of a MENA, a God
- 9:54of truth and without iniquity, just and right He is.
- 9:58You could only say that because the words a MENA that He is a
- 10:01God of faith. If faith and truth are
- 10:06interchangeable. So if faith is true, doesn't
- 10:10that make it real? So you think me standing on the
- 10:16platform is the truth because you can see it.
- 10:19But technically, biblically standing in the Kingdom of
- 10:23heaven is even more real than the things that are around me
- 10:27because it's truth, which is why in Hebrews 11 verse one very
- 10:34popular verse now faith is this substance of things hoped for,
- 10:39the evidence of things not seen. The thing is that word
- 10:42substance, You've got to look it up.
- 10:43This is it's OK in Hebrew, it's hopistas all right?
- 10:47Hopistas. It is 99% of the time it gets
- 10:52translated as the word confidence.
- 10:54In fact, this is verse in Hebrews 11, verse one.
- 10:57It's the only time that it gets translated as the word
- 10:59substance. Now, why did good old King James
- 11:01decided for that one verse change it from confidence to
- 11:07substance? It's because context.
- 11:11Also, hooperstasis means like foundation.
- 11:15It means something that's so real.
- 11:17You can you can actually put weight on it.
- 11:19It holds things up. You'll find hooperstasis.
- 11:23It can be translated as a person.
- 11:25If that person's holding you up, it's a real thing.
- 11:29It's not just an airy fairy pipe dream.
- 11:32It's a real thing. Some that's foundational.
- 11:35So King James is like, well, you know, we can't just do the word
- 11:37confidence here. We're going to have to explain
- 11:39that it's something so tangible that faith is the substance, the
- 11:44upholding of things hoped for, the evidence, the truth of
- 11:50things not seen. So what about hope then?
- 11:55All right, .2 hope sustains us so this is the things that are
- 12:01hoped for, not a pipe dream, not you know, the smoke goes away
- 12:06and well that was nice to hope for that.
- 12:08We have really misunderstood the word hope because you know
- 12:12people say, oh you man, their hopes were dashed.
- 12:14I'm like that actually doesn't make sense when you understand
- 12:17what the word hope is the the word for hope in Hebrew is
- 12:24Tikva. Now Tikva is a very Jewish and
- 12:27historical if you know the national anthem of Israel, it's
- 12:32called the Hatikva. Hatikva means the hope, right?
- 12:36So even the national anthem is based around this word hope.
- 12:41But the literal translation of Tikva is rope chord.
- 12:47It's not like a like smoke. It's a tangible thing that you
- 12:51hold on to. Rock climbers would hold on to a
- 12:56Tikva in in Joshua chapter 2, verses 18 to 21, there's an
- 13:02event that occurs where Joshua sends spies into this place
- 13:07called Jericho, and they nearly get caught.
- 13:09And there's this woman there, her name's Rehab.
- 13:12And she hides them. And they're like, sweet, thank
- 13:15you for hiding us. How can we repay you?
- 13:18So basically the whole deal is they said if you hang out your
- 13:23window a Scarlett Tikva people say the scarlet rope, scarlet
- 13:31cord, whatever, but the words Tikva A scarlet rope.
- 13:36If you throw out your the scarlet rope, then you'll be
- 13:40saved. Says this in Joshua 2 verse 21.
- 13:44Then she said this is rahed. She said according to your
- 13:47words, so be it. And she sent them away and they
- 13:51departed and she bound the scarlet Tikvath cord in the
- 13:57window, tangible, not just smoke.
- 14:02They could see it now. So she put this scarlet coloured
- 14:06tikvah hope, a scarlet hope out the window.
- 14:12So it was hope that physically led to her salvation.
- 14:18Now get this, this is real cool part, right?
- 14:20So that Scarlett Tikvah, that Scarlett rope, that Scarlet hope
- 14:27wasn't just about a pretty rope that she put in a window
- 14:30biblically, that scarlet rope weaved its way all the way
- 14:35through her descendants, all the way to Jesus, because she was
- 14:40the great, great, great, great. You've got to do it 40 times.
- 14:43I'm not going to do it right, but she's the great, great,
- 14:45great times 40 grandmother of Jesus.
- 14:49So that that rope, it wasn't just a symbol, it ended up being
- 14:54the bloodline tangible, tangible.
- 15:00In Romans 15 verse 13, it says, now may the God of hope fill you
- 15:08with all joy. Never is God the God of like
- 15:14imaginary stuff. Then why would it be called the
- 15:19God of hope if it wasn't real? Now, may the God of hope fill
- 15:26you with all joy and peace in believing that you may abound in
- 15:31hope. Not imaginary stuff, but abound
- 15:34in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
- 15:37I like to say this. I like to say God is the God of
- 15:40hope. Ropes.
- 15:40Is it? OK?
- 15:43How fun of you read this. I want you to.
- 15:45I want you to say that for me, it'd be great.
- 15:47All right. May I may be the God of a hope
- 15:49rope because you've heard of Nope ropes, right?
- 15:52You know, snakes, snakes and Nope ropes, right?
- 15:55But God is the hope group. So how does this attach?
- 16:00Then you think about this. OK, So remember, remember, faith
- 16:03is what anchors us. Yeah.
- 16:05So anchored toward right? So if you can imagine from a
- 16:09rock climbers perspective, you've got your hope rope, but
- 16:12you have to attach yourself to it.
- 16:15And how do you do that? Well, you get those D clips and
- 16:18you click it on so that if you fall, you're caught.
- 16:22And when you're caught, you've been saved.
- 16:28So faith and hope, tangibly working together so that you and
- 16:35me can be saved. Because all of these things
- 16:39point to love. Yeah, well done.
- 16:44Say .3 it is the greatest is love again, First Corinthians
- 16:511313 as a reminder, this is now abide faith, hope, love, these
- 16:55three, but the greatest of these is love because it actually all
- 16:58starts with love, not the way that the world explains love at
- 17:04all. You know, love is love or
- 17:07really, why is it the same people that say love is love?
- 17:11The same people say, well, that 60 year old shouldn't have
- 17:13married that 30 year old. It's like weird, hey, how they
- 17:16still think love is defined by their own opinions.
- 17:20So there is no such thing as love as love except for God's
- 17:25love, Biblical love. Everything else is very in
- 17:31Greek. If you ever look at the
- 17:32different types of love, there's technically 8.
- 17:34Some people say there's nine, some people 7, but there's 8 of
- 17:36them and only one of them is like full of it's agape love
- 17:42that that selfless pouring out love.
- 17:44Everything else is like feelings or metaphors in many ways.
- 17:49For example, Eros is very sexual.
- 17:52You know, filio is what you would feel for your family and
- 17:55friends. Lots of different types of love,
- 18:00but there's only one that's the highest and greatest love, which
- 18:02is the one that we talked about when it comes to God, which is
- 18:06agape love. All right, because everything
- 18:10else is an expression, but there's only one love of and
- 18:14biblical love is different, very different.
- 18:18In one John 48 and verse 8 and verse 16, it says that God is
- 18:23love. God is agape.
- 18:26It doesn't say Eros, it doesn't say filia.
- 18:27It says God is agape, not that God.
- 18:32It doesn't say God is loving. He is, but it sets a precedent
- 18:37where it says no, God is love. It's like water is wet.
- 18:44You can't divide it. It's like God is love.
- 18:49And because God is love, he gets to define what love is.
- 18:55You know, I've heard Rachel say this and other people for from
- 18:58the platform. It's like God isn't what you
- 19:00think he is. God is exactly what he says he
- 19:02is, right? Yeah.
- 19:04So when God says I'm love, he's saying I also know what that
- 19:07means. If you're a builder of the
- 19:10house, you get to choose how to build the house.
- 19:15You get to choose its shape and how it's put together.
- 19:18So God designed love. So he gets to determine what
- 19:21love is, how you feel, whether it's sexually, enthusiastically
- 19:28it. It's related to love in some
- 19:30ways, but it's not the fullness of biblical love.
- 19:33It's like, I love coffee. Yeah.
- 19:37You know, you're not going to see that in the Bible.
- 19:40Should be, you know, what is it? It's like Hebrews, right?
- 19:44Yeah. And you're going to say that
- 19:50anyway, if you, if you look, get a chance to look through
- 19:53Scripture, the first time you see the word love in the Bible
- 19:57is like revolutionary. I hope you get this in your
- 20:01heart. OK, so it's like chapters and
- 20:03chapters. And you'd think you'd see the
- 20:04word love, which in Hebrews Ahava, but you'd think you'd see
- 20:07it early in the Bible. It's not actually.
- 20:10It takes chapters after chapters after chapters.
- 20:13But the very first time you see the word love, it's about a
- 20:18beloved son. Being offered as a sacrifice on
- 20:24a mountain that we now know is in Jerusalem.
- 20:29Now some of you like, wait, I've heard that story before.
- 20:31That's in the New Testament. No, the very first time we ever
- 20:35see the word love is the pre, the foreshadow of what Jesus is
- 20:40going to do In Genesis 22, verse 2, it's about Isaac and Abraham.
- 20:45It's the first time and it says this is what it says.
- 20:48It says this is God speaking to Isaac, to Abraham about Isaac,
- 20:53and God says to Abraham, then he said, take now your son, your
- 20:58only son, Isaac, whom you love. First time you ever see it.
- 21:04You know why? Because God's like the first
- 21:07time you ever need to know about the word love is so that you
- 21:11identify that this is what I'm going to do for you.
- 21:16It's not feelings based. It's this is my sacrifice.
- 21:21This is why you go back and you find where's the first time I
- 21:25see a word because that's its original definite meaning and
- 21:29its original purpose. So love, the very first time you
- 21:34see the word love in the Bible is always about what God wants
- 21:36to do for you. So he said, take your son, your
- 21:42only son whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, offer him
- 21:49there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I should
- 21:52tell you, just an amazing name. It's really weird that the very
- 21:56first explanation of love is the story of the cross.
- 22:02Moving on. So the Super old King James
- 22:06Version, right, of getting back to First Corinthians 1313.
- 22:12This is in the English versions that we have now, then we we've
- 22:16already read it twice, but it says and now abide faith, hope,
- 22:20love. OK.
- 22:21In in the very early King James version, they didn't translate
- 22:25it as the word love. Are you aware of that?
- 22:27Yeah. Translated as the word charity.
- 22:32This is now abide, faith, hope, charity, giving these three.
- 22:37But the greatest of these is charity.
- 22:42It's like, why? Because you can't separate love,
- 22:46proper love, agape love, a pouring out love.
- 22:49You can't separate it from giving.
- 22:55Giving is actually directly read a love.
- 22:56I've got some Hebrew up in there.
- 22:58Have you got a picture of the Hebrew things?
- 23:00Sweet. OK, sure.
- 23:01Great. So this is what the word give is
- 23:04in Hebrew 1/2 right? And it's behold how generous
- 23:09generosity is the strength of the house.
- 23:10That's like if you have a look at the pictogram.
- 23:12OK, so alef means God, but also means strength.
- 23:16The very next one. Hey, it means to to see, behold
- 23:19and abate means house, so you can't actually put it in as a
- 23:22sentence. And yes, behold, how generosity
- 23:25is the strength of the house. Why?
- 23:27Because love is the strength of a house.
- 23:30All right, but here's the crazy part.
- 23:32Let's get to the next one. This is the word love, ahava.
- 23:37It's the same word, right? The only difference being the
- 23:41letter hey, at the very end. I mean beginner.
- 23:43Why? Because it's so important to
- 23:45behold it twice. And you'll notice that as I just
- 23:50said moments ago, you can't have biblical love unless you have
- 23:57give. You just can't separate the 2
- 24:03from the very beginning. It's always been about God and
- 24:09His love for us, you know, and it's from this love that begets
- 24:13salvation and that God gives faith.
- 24:15And you know, something tangibly hold on, which is hope.
- 24:18In Ephesians 28 it says for by grace you have been saved
- 24:22through faith, and that not of yourselves.
- 24:25It is a gift of God because God gives.
- 24:28He's a God of love. He can't help himself.
- 24:31John 316 For God so loved the world that he gave.
- 24:35He can't help himself. He is not just loving.
- 24:38Remember his love, which means he gives.
- 24:43They love the world they gave. His only begotten Son, that
- 24:45whoever believes in him should not perish.
- 24:47But I've everlasting life and I love this one.
- 24:49John 4/19. This is so accurate.
- 24:52It says we love him because he first loved US.
- 25:00He first loved us. Anything we've ever done back
- 25:06for him, anything we ever give back to him, it is simply
- 25:10reciprocal. It is just us going, you know
- 25:13something? Thank you.
- 25:15Just give this back to you. I mean, you gave everything.
- 25:19Remember, Amazing Grace, amazing everything.
- 25:22So what can I give back to you? What can I give back to you?
- 25:25God. Because the creation of the
- 25:27universe and humans began in love.
- 25:31Musicians, you can come up now. Sorry, I should advise you to
- 25:34come up a little bit earlier. Oh, there we have thrown their
- 25:37way. How good is that?
- 25:38Well, looking nice team. Brilliant.
- 25:41You can also come out from hiding.
- 25:42OK, Glory to God, I really love this church.
- 25:51It's actually really great to be home as some of you know, I
- 25:53travel a lot and you know, occasionally I get to go to
- 25:57other churches and just, you know, I happen to be there on a
- 26:01weekend or sit and I'll be like, this is good.
- 26:04Love the presence of God here. But gosh, I love my church, you
- 26:09know? Amen.
- 26:11Anyway, so we loved him because he first loved us.
- 26:16Revelations 13 says that Christ the Lamb was crucified from the
- 26:23foundation of the world. His love for us extends way past
- 26:30the eternal parameters. I was having chat to someone
- 26:33recently actually because I was explaining how we misunderstand
- 26:37the word eternal God. The word eternal God does not
- 26:42mean that he lives for a long time.
- 26:46The word eternal God means he lives every moment in eternity
- 26:51simultaneously right now, which means for every moment for all
- 27:00time. He sees his Son being crucified
- 27:05brutally to save us. Kind of about you.
- 27:09But if I had to live with that nightmare forever, but I would
- 27:14probably just give up on you. I'm like, Nope, I'm not sure
- 27:17this is worth it. But it says that he sees the
- 27:21sacrifice of his son as a sweet smelling aroma because even in
- 27:29eternity, he thinks you're worth it from the foundation of the
- 27:35world. He's loved you in Matthew 25
- 27:40verse 34, and I'll finish with this, it says this is this is
- 27:45beautiful. It says then the king will say
- 27:48to those on his right hand, come you blessed are my father,
- 27:54inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the
- 27:59world. You know, he wasn't just talking
- 28:01about his sacrifice that occurred from the foundation of
- 28:04the world. He was planning your inheritance
- 28:09from before you. You could even think that you
- 28:12ever existed. We're talking gazillions,
- 28:15gazillions, gazillions of years ago.
- 28:17He saw you and thought I've got an inheritance for you.
- 28:21And he's just been waiting for it.
- 28:24I love it. How you doing, Sir?
- 28:29But how do we start our journey? Let's go there.
- 28:32Because if God first loved us, that's why we love him.
- 28:39How do we begin that journey? We remember like this way love
- 28:45and giving simultaneous. You, you can't, you can't have
- 28:51biblical love, original love, true love without an emptying.
- 28:58So what's that got to do with us?
- 28:59Then we'll see. God emptied himself from the
- 29:01very foundation of the world. What's your part to now give
- 29:07yourself back to Him? That's all he's ever wanted.
- 29:13That's all He's ever wanted. It's all like I've said this
- 29:17before from the platform. I am convinced that God's
- 29:19obsessed with us like and that must maniac away with all due
- 29:25respect, because he's been thinking about you before you
- 29:29even knew he existed. And isn't it right then come on,
- 29:33I'm just going to be a bit challenging then isn't it right
- 29:36then that we should give ourselves back to him?
- 29:38I don't know. It might be your first time
- 29:44here. We've been here 1000 times.
- 29:47But just like Justine was saying earlier, in fact, I was I was
- 29:50thinking about it is finished earlier today before I knew you
- 29:53were going to do that message. And I'm just like, isn't that
- 29:56beautiful though? The plan of God to finish it all
- 29:59this up and why did he go through the cross and
- 30:01everything? It's so we can have an
- 30:03inheritance with him, right? So surely, surely we, he
- 30:09deserves for us to give ourselves back to him.
- 30:12So if it was, if this is your first time or we've been here
- 30:151000 times, let's do it daily. That's what Justin was saying.
- 30:20It's not just about a A1 moment. It's not just that, oh, it is
- 30:24finished, great, cool, let's give our life.
- 30:25So just move on now. How about we make a decision to
- 30:29give ourselves back to God on a daily, momentarily, hourly,
- 30:36minute by minute moment. And that's not, doesn't mean
- 30:39you're going to be perfect, but it's so good to realign yourself
- 30:44back. That's actually what the word
- 30:46repentance means for the word, for those who knew.
- 30:49I don't know if you've heard this, but the word teshuva, OK.
- 30:52It gets translated as the word repentance, Repent.
- 30:55All right. And I've heard lots of people
- 30:56say, Oh yeah, teshuva, it means to turn away from sin.
- 30:59It's 180° turn, all these other pretty cool things that are
- 31:03somewhat true, but teshuva actually means to turn towards
- 31:08something. Yeah.
- 31:10It's not. It's not just a, oh, I'm going
- 31:13to going to stop doing that bad stuff.
- 31:14I mean, like, you know, drug addicts when they get out or
- 31:17Alcoholics when they get out of that whole mess, right?
- 31:21They do that to clean their lives up.
- 31:23They do have to clean their lives up, but that's not
- 31:25repentance. That's just stopping the bad
- 31:27stuff. So repentance has to be
- 31:30directional. It has to be facing towards
- 31:34something. So when people say do you live a
- 31:36repentant life, like every moment, I think thank you God,
- 31:42then yes, that's what a repentant life is.
- 31:46It's not just feeling bad about things that you've done or yeah,
- 31:50I'm pretty perfect today. That's not a repentant life.
- 31:53That's just good stuff. Repentant life is, are we facing
- 31:58God? Are we coming back to him?
- 32:00Are we in a love relationship with God where we give back to
- 32:07him? Let's pray.
- 32:10If everyone, if you don't mind, just close your eyes, bow your
- 32:13head. Just want to give people an
- 32:14opportunity. If you're thinking you know
- 32:16something could be your first time or yes, I just want again a
- 32:23declaration that of God. I just I just give myself back
- 32:26to you. If that's you just want to put
- 32:29your hand up.
