- 0:03[SPEAKER_02]: welcome to show others receiving votes.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_02]: I'm Pam Forty with Sports Illustrated joined as always by Jean Wojahowski and Brian Fisher.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_02]: In this week's episode we're going to talk about the monster double header in the SEC games in Tuscaloosa and Athens that Brian and I will be covering.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_02]: We'll ask whether Chapel Bill is making it come back.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_02]: uh... how big the playoff should be going forward will apply the eye test to some playoff contenders give a first glance of the high-spin make some game picks and jean jino's got some got some explaining to do there and uh... yeah yeah and a chicken argument gone wrong so all of that although real real quick first before we dive into the main topics i do have to
- 1:00[SPEAKER_02]: tip a cap to the NCA, which released sanctions against Michigan State football yesterday, largely for the Mel Tucker era.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_02]: And in one of those great perverted justice moments that tend to come with the NCA, they vacated a bunch of wins for Michigan State among them.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_02]: among them was the game in which Connor Stallion's dressed up as a central Michigan assistant and was really a Michigan operative on the sideline.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_02]: So how's that for a double loss for Michigan State?
- 1:37[SPEAKER_02]: You get penalized and you have to vacate the game in which your arch rival was trying to steal signs to use against you.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_02]: Beautiful.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_03]: Mel Tucker era or error.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_02]: Well,
- 1:51[SPEAKER_02]: Certainly that if it weren't for Kenneth Walker the third it would have been a complete disaster one season of Glymer of hope and that's it.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, all right anyway, let's get on to the games guys
- 2:06[SPEAKER_02]: You know, we talk about a lot of issues and stuff like this, but this is where it's really gets fun as we we've got down to the stretch run and there are some really tantalizing games this weekend, uh, specifically in the SEC, it's a right of past six Saturday for two second year members who came over from the big 12 Texas and Oklahoma and they both go on the road to play the establishment.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_02]: Texas is a Georgia, Oklahoma is an Alabama.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_02]: Playoff hopes on the line who's going to play in the SEC Championship game could be on the line.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_02]: Alabama Georgia won the last five SEC titles in ten of the last eleven.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_02]: Basically everything in the league for a decade plus has gone through Bryant Denny or between the hedges.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_02]: And now here come the horns and the sooners and they're trying to change that.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_02]: uh... win the new with with wins the new guys are gonna really improve their positioning uh... for the playoff lose and they're out will pick the games later but for now let's talk about what's at stake from a credibility standpoint who needs a win more
- 3:18[SPEAKER_02]: Geno, Texas, or Oklahoma, they'd stay in the big 12.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_02]: They might both be solidly in the playoff right now.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_02]: They didn't.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_02]: Who needs to still prove that this was the right move to themselves and everyone else?
- 3:33[SPEAKER_03]: There's a lot to unpack.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_03]: Those are interesting questions.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, from a football credibility standpoint, neither one of them has to explain themselves.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_03]: Texas is fifth.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_03]: with all-time wins and college football, Oklahoma 6, so they're okay there, but for right here right now, I think Texas needs the win a little more, a fair or unfair, the expectations on Texas entering this season were national championship game, and Texas embraced those expectations.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_03]: OU, there were people wondering if Brent Venables would survive the season.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_03]: So from that standpoint, an expectation standpoint, Texas, I think also there's always less margin of error in Austin than there is a Norman, you know, a tiny bit.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_03]: you know who needs to win the game more as it relates to what could have happened in the big 12.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not sure we'll ever know you know if you go back from 2010 to 2023
- 4:50[SPEAKER_03]: Texas only won one conference championship.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_03]: Oklahoma won seven outright and shared another.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_03]: So Texas wasn't guaranteed anything by staying in the big 12.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_03]: At least at that time.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_03]: If you want to talk about access, you probably have more access to the CFP by being a member of the SEC than you do in the big 12 right now.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_03]: We're talking about big 12 getting one maybe two.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_03]: Meanwhile, the SEC.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_03]: five and then in some world six if that's possible.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_03]: So there are no guarantees there either.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_03]: Is there buyers remorse?
- 5:26[SPEAKER_03]: I don't think so Pat.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_03]: I think at the time it made sense long-term it made sense financially.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_03]: And when you compare it to the big 10 expansion, it makes more sense geographically.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_03]: So I think if they had to make the same decision,
- 5:40[SPEAKER_03]: they would have come over to the SEC, but it's a really intriguing question that you put out.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't think there's any buyers or more, but by any stretch of the imagination, especially if you look at some of those donation figures, at both schools, those last two, three years, you know, I think there's there's definitely no regrets on that front from the administration standpoint, LA's.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe from the head coaching standpoint, knowing what they got to go up against every single week, but I think this weekend is actually
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: Because you look at what happened last year, you know, that went over Alabama was not only the signature win, but that was kind of the the high point of of a down year for the sooners in their first year in the conference Texas making it to Atlanta, you know, that that was a smooth sailing for them.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_00]: They made it back to the playoff.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: They were they were carrying the banner.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: you know, into into the semi finals for the SEC.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: So I think for Oklahoma to to truly be back to where they, their fans and their fan base thinks that that program can get to even in the SEC right now.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: I think to go into Tuscaloosa to to beat Alabama back to back years, I think that would be more meaningful for Oklahoma on top of the fact that, yes, you know, in terms of the close to the season, you look at them maybe finishing 10 and 2 if they can get over this hump against Alabama.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_00]: that then it does for Texas.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, I can't wait for the games.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_02]: They're going to be really fun and they're good.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_02]: And I would say, answering it on a couple of different levels.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_02]: And the here and now, yeah, probably Oklahoma.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_02]: Because literally, they're like the first team out of the playoff right now.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_02]: If you do the, if you do the bracket and so they're still trying to get in and nothing would do more to get you in than winning at Alabama.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_02]: Um, the
- 7:24[SPEAKER_02]: aspect of the proving this was the right move.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_02]: I would say that also rests with Oklahoma and the one thing I would say Brian is is yeah, no, the administration loves this being in this league how about the fans because the fans should not be rooting for money.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_02]: And hey, we got big donation checks, we're making more revenue, who cares if your team isn't winning.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_02]: And Oklahoma got their teeth kicked in last year, obviously better this year, but still not to the point where as Gene pointed out, I mean, they were dominating the big 12.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_02]: And now you're nowhere near dominating the SEC.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_02]: They're in contention this year.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_02]: Last year said six
- 8:07[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I think that all that in realignment, every move has been revenue based.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_02]: And I think it is hard to get fans to cheer for revenue.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_02]: It should be, it's been one of the greatest tricks the devil has ever played as administrators convincing fan.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_02]: We have to make it more money.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_02]: Are you as Oklahoma still playing Oklahoma State and football?
- 8:29[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_02]: Are you going nine and eight and one in the league?
- 8:33[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_02]: Certainly not doing that.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_02]: So I think for Oklahoma they're still a little bit more proving as you guys mentioned Texas made the SEC championship game last year made the playoff.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_02]: They're fine.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_02]: I think Oklahoma's the one that is still trying to convince everyone that that was the right move.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_02]: But again, great games in treating quarterback situations here guys.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_02]: We obviously have a basically the most hypercute of all time, arch-maning in a season that started off very poorly, and perhaps now arguably is rounding into pretty good, or at least okay.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_02]: You also have perhaps the most expensive quarterback transfer signee of 2025, John Meteor.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_02]: So for my credibility standpoint, it quarterback who needs a great performance more on Saturday, arch or material, Brian, what do you think?
- 9:37[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you know, I think if you're talking about the larger narrative, you know, it's undoubtedly arch.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_00]: And you go back, you know, last year, you know, the most watch regular season game, what was it?
- 9:47[SPEAKER_00]: Texas, Georgia.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_00]: What was the second most watch game?
- 9:51[SPEAKER_00]: It was Texas, Georgia.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: So there's going to be a lot of eyeballs on this matchup in Athens, I think, especially given the playoff implications for both teams, just the brand names.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_00]: There's going to be a lot of people, maybe even some YouTube TV customers, if they get
- 10:07[SPEAKER_00]: But I think for the narrative, please, yes, please, for the narrative, though, it's definitely arch.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_00]: But if you're talking about on the field and actually, you know, playing between the lines, I think Texas can survive an okay game for March and still end up winning.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: That's not the case at Oklahoma.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Oklahoma is one in two when John material completes less than 60% of his passes.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: Five in a one, he's over 60% one and two when he doesn't.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_00]: So it's how well he plays.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_00]: It really dictates that Oklahoma off.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_00]: And I know they think they found something with Xavier Robinson at running back.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_00]: And they've gotten the ground game going a little bit more.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_00]: These last couple weeks, material looks a little bit
- 10:47[SPEAKER_00]: healthier, certainly than when he was turning the ball over there in Red River.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_00]: So I think for on the field, it's material, but I think if you're talking about larger narrative and just trying to live up to that hype just a little bit from the offseason, I think it's undoubtedly arch given the number of eyeballs that will be on this game.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_00]: What do you think, Pat?
- 11:06[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I think I think it's arch, you know, I mean, we.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_02]: People wanted to say he was going to be after this season.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_02]: Would win the Heisman be the number one draft pick.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think we ever said that, but people out there were saying that I think all three of us believe that he was going to have a great season.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_02]: And he hasn't had a great season.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_02]: He's not been a complete disaster.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, they haven't had to bench him there right now in the playoff picture with him as the starting quarterback.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_02]: the year that people expected from him.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_02]: Right now, material actually is sixth in passing yards per game in the SEC arch is seventh.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_02]: And if you go by efficiency, which I like more, arch is ninth in the SEC, 146 rating,
- 12:03[SPEAKER_02]: It's a little bit above average.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_02]: It's not save your level.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_02]: It's not a disaster.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_02]: Material is actually considerably lower, but he's also more of a runner.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, I think given the whole arc of the season, everybody, you know, and it's always a great reminder how long football seasons are that.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_02]: You can completely give up on somebody early and then at the end, like, ah, it's guys pretty good or the other way around.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_02]: And Arch has a chance to I think fully reclaim a lot of the the credibility that he was afforded before he'd actually become the full-time starter there if he plays well between the hedges against a Georgia defense that is not
- 12:49[SPEAKER_02]: vintage, but still, you know, you want to take on Kirby smart in a big game, you better bring it.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_02]: So I would say there's more writing on Archie's shoulders than material.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_02]: What do you think, Jean?
- 13:01[SPEAKER_03]: Well, if the question is, who needs to have the great performance Saturday to help their team win?
- 13:09[SPEAKER_03]: And if you both of you guys just said that Oklahoma needed this game
- 13:19[SPEAKER_03]: I would argue that material.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I really would argue that both of them need to have great games for their teams to have a chance to win, but if I had to choose one, I would choose mature based on something you just said, Pat, his ability to run, you know, Bama historically has had difficulty stopping dual threat quarterbacks, and he's a dual threat quarterback, and he's going to have to run
- 13:50[SPEAKER_03]: then I think arch manning is going to have to do.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_03]: Then I would say that more weight is on material shoulders to win this particular game than arch.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's a good point.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_02]: That's a fair point that in terms of
- 14:07[SPEAKER_02]: which team needs their quarterback more.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_02]: You guys both said it's probably material.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_02]: You know, again, arch is not had in at any point.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_02]: Time carry Texas really and materials had to do that quite a bit for Oklahoma.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_02]: So we'll pick the games later as I said, um, Brian, do you want that?
- 14:30[SPEAKER_02]: What's that?
- 14:30[SPEAKER_00]: I said, do you want to do that?
- 14:32[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, it's part of the assignment here.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry, sorry.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_02]: Don't worry, you're not alone in feeling like embarrassed by your picks this week, Gene, for the love of God.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_02]: I'm terrible at this point.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_02]: But anyway, Brian's gonna be in Bryant, Danny, I'm gonna be in Sanford Stadium, which is actually my favorite stadium anyway.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_02]: So can't wait for those games.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_02]: Switching gears a little bit guys.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_02]: If we are revising earlier appraisals of Arch, how about the other big preseason storyline.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_02]: Chapel Bill Bill Belichick and
- 15:15[SPEAKER_02]: Coming into the year, he was the biggest curiosity out there.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_02]: I thought even more than manning, because we just simply had not seen a coach of his stature with no college experience going to the college game.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_02]: And it was a complete debacle to begin with.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_02]: I was there for the opener, and it set quite a tone when they just got trucked by TCU.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_02]: And things just got off to a horrific start.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_02]: two and five, and through the first five games there, I mean, it was an ugly two and five.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_02]: They got house by TCU.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_02]: They had house by Central Florida.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_02]: They got house by Clemson.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_02]: Their wins were against Charlotte and Richmond.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_02]: And that's when everybody started talking about, oh, he's gonna leave.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_02]: He's gonna leave now.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_02]: They're gonna fire him now.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_02]: This, that, and everything else.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, they stayed the course.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_02]: Fumble to ball going into the end zone, almost one against Virginia, which is ranked, Fumble to ball going into the end zone.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_02]: Then came back and beat Syracuse by 17, beat Stanford, and they're sitting there at four and five with Tobacco Road left in front of them.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_02]: They're at Wake this week, they got Duke, and they're at NC State.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_02]: So if they come through Tobacco Road in good order,
- 16:42[SPEAKER_02]: Chapel Bill is going bowling.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_02]: What are we to make of this season, guys?
- 16:50[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I would love to see Chapelville in the Sombrero for the Sun Bowl, or some of the concept in thinking about that kind of those photos of him and going through that whole bull process.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_00]: So, I am kind of rooting for them to make a bull, but what's the old Bobby Bowden saying, you know, first you lose big, you know, and then you lose close, and then you win close, that seems to be where we're at kind of in the season, and you know, truthfully, you go back to kind of his NFL teams, it was kind of right around
- 17:17[SPEAKER_00]: uh... you know the holidays if you will kind of right around things giving when they they would kind of start to pick up steam for those patriots seems to hold where they would figure things out and the coaching staff would understand what they can do what they can't do they'd make those adjustments and then that they kind of go off and and uh... make their at their runs to the playoffs and
- 17:34[SPEAKER_00]: Um, you know, my only issue with that, I do think they've, they've improved as the season has gone on, especially these last couple weeks, you know, they are a little bit more consistent, which is what you would have expected to see out of Bill Belicherex teams maybe even earlier than this, but obviously he's, he's new to this college game, but my, my biggest issue is just that the schedule itself.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you have a win over an FCS team.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_00]: you have a win over the worst team in the American and Charlotte you have the win over one of the worst teams in the ACC in Stanford you have a team without a function in quarterback in in Syracuse so yes they they've gotten some momentum but who has it really been against and I think that's that's kind of this test against these treat trio of teams that really do want to beat
- 18:13[SPEAKER_00]: you and see in Bill Belichick.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, if you talk about if you had to give Jack Dickard or or many D.A.s or, you know, Dave Dorne at NC State in any win on the schedule, I think they would take this one and they'd want to take it convincingly given all the hoopla.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_00]: I like that.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's some real resentment not only in the ACC over the preseason hype and all this, but they want to know that they have a win over Bill Belichick.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_00]: on their resume by the end of the year and so I think this is going to be North Carolina is going to get three really good shots from teams that want to beat them so that's something to keep in mind with the stretch running against tobacco road and and we'll see you know like it wouldn't surprise me if they if they lose all three it wouldn't surprise me if they they went two out of the three to make a bowl we'll see what do you think Pat um
- 19:00[SPEAKER_02]: I agree very much with a Brian said that this is largely a product of the schedule as much as anything else, but I would also say from the I test they are demonstrably better than they were.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, they, again, they should have beaten Cal and Cal is not a terrible team.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_02]: They should have beaten Virginia and Virginia is a pretty good team.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_02]: Syracuse is terrible, but they handled business, and then Stanford is terrible, and they handled business there, although they blew the cover.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you very much.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_02]: My luck of the week, tar heals.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_02]: So I would say it's absolutely gotten better, but it hasn't gotten good.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_02]: So there's very much some proving still to do here.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_02]: I think in the in the final weeks.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_02]: they're pretty good defensively which again you would also expect I mean they have they have shut teams down uh they gave cow had 4.1 yards per play Virginia 3.7 Syracuse 3.0 Stanford 4.3
- 20:03[SPEAKER_02]: That's that's pretty solid defense across the board there.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_02]: They've stopped the run.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_02]: Again, sometimes they've stopped the pass against others.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_02]: Their offense is still largely a mess.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_02]: So I would not say they are again that they are good, but they might be good enough to get the six wins and kind of put a a positive spin on this thing going into the offseason like, hey, all right.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_02]: We didn't really deliver the way people expected, but we learned a lot
- 20:32[SPEAKER_02]: and we're going to be better next year.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_02]: If he's not going to the Giants, which is a whole other matter.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_02]: Now, that could just be garden variety speculation.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_02]: Quite frankly, I don't know why an NFL team would want Bill at this point, you know?
- 20:46[SPEAKER_02]: Again, we've seen him now.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_02]: He's been out a couple years, and if this is what Restored Rejuvenated Highly Motivated Bill Bellachick team looks like, coming back.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_02]: I would say we can do better out there, but I think he's the remainder of his college or the remainder of his coaching career, his lot in life is at North Carolina and we're going to see how he can do with it because I'm not sure there's going to be other options.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I'm glad you brought up the giants.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to put a bow on what they've done so far this season.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_03]: The record of their opponents is 13 and 26.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_03]: And one of them is an FCS school in Richmond, which is fine.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_03]: They're not the only program that plays an FCS school during the course of the season.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_03]: And I will give Bella check a lot of credit for just staying with the Warrondis Cincinnati.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_03]: philosophy and he just he did what he was hard to do.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_03]: He was hard to rebuild to teach and try to improve this team and he has done that.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_03]: We can we can talk about the quality of opponents that he's done it against, but the fact is that they have sort of stabilized a little bit and we'll see if they get ball eligible.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_03]: Now the giants
- 22:05[SPEAKER_03]: If U.S. Bill Belichick, what is the team closest to his heart in the NFL, he would probably tell you the giants.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_03]: He has a long-standing relationship with John Marrave, who's the co-owner and president of the New York Giants.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_03]: He was asked about this during the presser, Belichick was earlier this week.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_03]: And you did not hear from him saying, no, I'm not going anywhere.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_03]: I'm staying here at Carolina.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_03]: It was, well, we're focused on wait for us, which is coach speak for please call me.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_03]: Here's my number, homey now.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_03]: But I think if the giants reach into the college ranks, I'm not ruling out, Bill, check, but I think it's a long shot.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_03]: I think the two coaches that they would look at, one Lane Kiffin, which isn't a surprise, considering he'd coach Jackson Dart, and Kiffin does have NFL head coaching experience, even though it was disastrous with the Raiders, if a maybe they'd give them another go.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_03]: Yep.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_03]: is Marcus Freeman at Notre Dame and if you go back and look at the what is it almost 100 years that the giants have been playing football they've never had a black head coach and that's that's not a fact that's been ignored by people.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_03]: And second, Tim McDonnell,
- 23:32[SPEAKER_03]: is the nephew of John Mera.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_03]: He's also the Giants director of Player Personnel, and he spent eight years on the staff at Notre Dame under Charlie Weiss and Brian Kelly.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_03]: So if you don't think connections matter, especially a connection to Notre Dame that they don't matter, then you're not paying attention.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_03]: So if Marcus Freeman were interested in that, if Ling Kiffin were interested in
- 24:01[SPEAKER_03]: I think there's a possibility it could be filled by one of those two guys.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_00]: I hope so.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_03]: go ahead, Brian.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_00]: I was just going to say, you know, I think the New York Post would be interested in all three of those candidates.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_00]: And they're given the potential back pages that they would have if Lane Kiffin or Marcus Freeman or certainly if Bill Belechek and Jordan Hudson were the head coach of the New York Giants.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_00]: Like that to me was as soon as you said that, you know, like I was like, okay, the New York Post, the back pages would would be gold.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_00]: And then that I know the football would be secondary to that, but that was the first thing that came to mind.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I see this is why we paid you in the big dollars to come up with with these things and certainly not for his picks, but These are no I think these are good points.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think there's any doubt that Bill would like to go.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you know, I think that he went to North Carolina because he couldn't get a job in the NFL and wouldn't say like all right, I need to go prove I still got it so that I can get back to the NFL.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_02]: But I, I just, I, I still, and despite
- 25:06[SPEAKER_02]: uh... the connections there and the affection and the allure of the bellachick name i'd if i were the giants i would look at this product that he's put on the fields and not on things so now i'm not saying that i think bellachick would like to do it i'm not sure the giants want to do it i'm just saying that there is a connection between bellachick and and john marah right right no and and i mean freeman to me is fascinating candidate i think the NFL absolutely has interest in him
- 25:34[SPEAKER_02]: If I were Notre Dame, that's the only thing that would worry me is that eventually and perhaps immediately you're going to lose him to the NFL.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_02]: And you know, how these things work, the coaches always want to invoke family when they make these decisions.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_02]: If you noticed yesterday was signing day, Marcus Freeman's son,
- 25:54[SPEAKER_02]: wrestler signed with Cornell be kind of in the neighborhood at least you're theoretically there if you want to move the whole rest of the family of his very large family to to New York but the the the the the kiffin part also is intriguing still one of the greatest things I've ever seen the NFL was kiffin attempting a 76 yard field goal just because he could
- 26:17[SPEAKER_02]: He is a more mature coach, I think now than when he was rather absurdly given the Raiders job at age like 14, but all interesting options there.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see if Chapel Bill can continue the Renaissance in Carolina.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_02]: All right guys talk about the playoff rankings week two.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_02]: We had those Brian.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_02]: How was the how was the live stream Tuesday night?
- 26:44[SPEAKER_02]: I was in the basket.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it was good.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_00]: You know, line solo, but then in the next week.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously we'll be back.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_00]: So be sure to tune in as those ranking skit released on all of our social channels and sports illustrated social channels and we actually put it on the pod this week.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_00]: So as well or next week.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, you'll have plenty of playoff thoughts in the in the moment coming next week.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yes, be sure to check it out Tuesday night, Brian, now we'll do it beyond my live stream culminating about whatever the craziness the committee's coming up with lately.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_02]: I think, you know, we had less outrage this time around, large because the ACC flopped so badly last week that they they took some of the controversy out of things, but
- 27:26[SPEAKER_02]: There has been an ongoing debate that's picked up again a little steam about the future size of the playoff, 12, 16, or something larger.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_02]: Mark Keynam's a president at Mississippi State, very influential CEO and college athletics and he
- 27:45[SPEAKER_02]: came out on Paul Feinbaum last week said that he was in favor of 16.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_02]: He had some other format things he thinks they should all be automatic bids.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_02]: I would love to see 12.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_02]: remain for not just obviously this year, but 2026 as well.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_02]: Let's at least just sit still for a few years and watch things develop.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm interested in you guys standpoints, Gina, what do you think?
- 28:12[SPEAKER_02]: What is your preferred playoff size?
- 28:15[SPEAKER_03]: Did he say he was for?
- 28:18[SPEAKER_03]: automatic bids or was no automatic bids, right, exactly.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_03]: That's the way I understood it too.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_02]: Whatever I said was probably wrong.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_03]: No, no, no.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_03]: I'm misheard you.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_03]: I'm sure.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_03]: I don't see what's a big rush.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_03]: 12 seems to work fine.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, that's the number I would stay with.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_03]: I certainly don't advocate the Tony Petiti.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_03]: Let's expand to 71 teams format.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_03]: Let's let this sit for a few years and see how it plays out.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_03]: It's like we've got to buy a new car every year.
- 28:58[SPEAKER_03]: I do think that if they move to another number, it's going to be 16.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_03]: That's the sense you get from Greg Sanky.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_03]: It's certainly the sense that you got from the Mississippi State rep on the on Paul show.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_03]: But the other issue to me is,
- 29:17[SPEAKER_03]: name me 16 teams that are legitimate national championship team.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_03]: Amen there.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_03]: I'm having a hard time coming up with 12.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_03]: If Duke gets somehow squeezes into the CFP, do we really think Duke's going to win the national championship?
- 29:33[SPEAKER_03]: As much respect as I have for say USF, do I think they're going to win the national championship?
- 29:40[SPEAKER_03]: No, it's, it's really still only a handful or so of teams that can make a legitimate case for it.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_03]: Sure, a miracle football miracle could happen, but I'm having a hard time finding 12.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_03]: I think it'd be even harder to find 16.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_00]: Well, yeah, and I have an article up on the side of that comment that kind of lays into a lot of the playoff talk right now and frankly, the rush right now is coming from the big tin and wanting to expand the playoff and well beyond 16.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I think some of the recent talk is even in centered around 24 teams.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_00]: which is, you know, the SES playoffs is the same size, but I just think you're right, you know, I mean, I have a hard time thinking of, all right, yes, James Madison would be included in the field and maybe get a shot as that second group of five team, but like when you're talking about going on the road to the one or two seed.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_00]: you know, like that's probably going to be as you expect, especially if it's a SEC team, you know, late at night, you know, and that's just not an environment that you think those teams can can not only survive, but pull off the kind of miracle ups that we get in the NCAA tournament.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_00]: So I think the conversations are essentially going to punt, certainly the decision to next year.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_00]: We're coming up on the deadline on December 1st.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_00]: That's the kind of key date where
- 30:54[SPEAKER_00]: they have to inform ESPN if there's going to be any changes and there's no agreement between the big tin and the SEC right now.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_00]: So we are going to be stuck at 12 for another year.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_00]: It definitely seems like all indications are pointed that way.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_00]: I think if you had to pull all the other FBS conferences, they would say let's go to 16.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_00]: To have the five automatic bids as well and then we'll have the 11 at large is you basically kind of take out those first round buys and add a couple more teams to the mix.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_00]: You know, in an ideal world, go back to your question, Pat.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, almost like eight, we kind of make more sense if we're truly crowning a national champion and we kind of wanted to get the actual best teams, I think eight would be that right mix between kind of the geographic diversity, getting the conference champions all in there as well as the actual teams on the field.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you're right, you know, whoever comes out of the ACC, probably going to be a one and done in this tournament, based on the results on the field right now.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_00]: Do you want to kind of add more to that?
- 31:47[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think so.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_00]: I think we should actually kind of compact things a little bit, but I don't think there's any going back from 12 at this point and the only leap from now, much like the NCAA tournament, it's going to be a slow creep year by year by year, and especially if the big 10 starts to convince others that they need to go even bigger, well, and then the tournament expands even further.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's why I want to get out.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_02]: I just don't want to see a tournament bigger than 16.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to see 16.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_02]: It would not be the worst thing that ever happened.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_02]: I don't, I don't think it's good.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_02]: I think you're going to see a lot of very bad games in the early in the first round, which we saw actually with 12 last year.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_02]: right it was they were not very competitive opening around games the the best thing about it was yes there was more inclusion which was great and we had campus games which was really fun I was down for that but but the football itself was not terribly competitive and the more teams you had the less competitive the games against the top of the bracket will be against the bottom of the bracket
- 32:49[SPEAKER_02]: I would be fine with eight, but we ain't going back your right Brian.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_02]: There's no way there's no way the plough gets smaller nothing ever gets smaller in college sports.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_02]: It only gets bigger But if it gets bigger than 16, I think that would be a complete travesty.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_02]: I know that's what Tony Petiti wants.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_02]: I can't find a lot of other people
- 33:11[SPEAKER_02]: Who would be in a green with it, which is why actually one of the reasons he wants to go to 24 is that so that he can basically bribe other conferences to go in like, I will get you more automatic bids too.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_03]: That's the other part of the equation that really stinks the automatic qualifiers.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_03]: You know, play your way in.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_03]: There's no free passes, play your way in.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_02]: No, and I think this season's a good indication of why Tony Petini wants four automatic bids for the big ten because they usually don't have four worthy teams to get in without the hand out.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_02]: They've got great, and it's a scramble for a fourth.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_02]: So, well, as Brian said, December 1st is the deadline on that, so we'll keep an eye the last few weeks of November
- 34:02[SPEAKER_02]: Speaking of the playoff, playoff, there's always a lot of debate, obviously, about what you should choose to decide the rankings.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_02]: Is it, you know, analytics, resume, eye test, let's throw some eye test out there.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_02]: you would not want to face if you're if your team is in the playoff and you're like oh my gosh these are the teams I do not want to see my team have to go up against who would they be Brian won't you give us your three first.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_00]: Well, number one, obviously, Ohio State, just the amount of talent they are a defending national champion.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_00]: So you know, there's that kind of extra little bit of motivation going into the tournament, especially given how hot they get.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_00]: I think the coaching staff too, and Ryan Day, he understands that play a format.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_00]: So I definitely would not be wanting to try to gain play into how to stop Jeremiah Smith and Colonel Tate and Julian Sayon now and in all the weapons that they have offensively on top of Matt Patricia's defense, which I think can change from round to round to give his NFL background, I think that would be really hard to kind of gain play and in the tournament like this.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_00]: Pure talent all that.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_00]: I think go how to say it's the easy number one choice.
- 35:21[SPEAKER_00]: I'm kind of go off the radar for two and three though.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_00]: I think Texas Tech with that past rush and the way they can get after you that front seven, you know, you talk about what you can take away.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_00]: I think in a hostile, and I'm very, too, if you have to go to Lubbick and some of those early round games.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_00]: Or even if they make it to the cotton bowl, potentially for that quarter final, I think that would be a really tough sell, you know, if you're a team just facing off against the waves of past rosters that they can throw at you, I think that would make it a difficult test.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_00]: This is obviously a tournament we kind of saw last year in terms of are you good in the trenches?
- 35:53[SPEAKER_00]: All right, then you can make some plays and you can make some changes and I would put Notre Dame in there as well that that rushing attack that they have, I think CJA cars come along and we know it just.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_00]: The way they won games last year and making it to the national title, Marcus Freeman has it figured out.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_00]: He pushes the right buttons, especially this time of year.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_00]: And I think he's a guy that gets it.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't want to face him on the other sideline.
- 36:15[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that that would kind of be my three in terms of Ohio State.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_00]: Texas Tech and Notre Dame.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_03]: Do you know?
- 36:22[SPEAKER_03]: Terrifyingly I agree with Brian on Ohio State's no-brainer, obviously for all the reasons of Brian mentioned, and Texas Tech, that decline those linebackers, their ability for big plays, they do have issues in the red zone, but they can score and they can score fast.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_03]: My third team would be Georgia.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_03]: for a couple reasons, but number one reason is they refuse to die.
- 36:55[SPEAKER_03]: They are the team that this is way before, probably a lot of our listeners and viewers' time.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_03]: There's a money python movie where the night gets his arms cut off, his hands cut off, and he
- 37:14[SPEAKER_03]: and then somehow regroups and that's Georgia they regroup
- 37:19[SPEAKER_03]: They figure out a way to win.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_03]: Kirby Smart is masterful in these situations, and I think in big games, which of course means he'll lose this Saturday after I say all of this.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_03]: And I do think that team is good enough, and I think they're a balanced team, and I think their defense is starting to come around.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_03]: So I would not want to see Georgia across from me on the bracket line.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_02]: Monty Python, way to go there.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_02]: It that's old guy radio, but I think everybody can kind of relate to that even even people that are less than a hundred.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_02]: So that's good.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to say Ohio State for all of the reasons you guys delineated they're the best team right now.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_02]: And and a complete team.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to say Notre Dame because I think that is a dangerous opponent that knows how to win in the playoff and is gotten better as the season has gone along.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_02]: Call me crazy.
- 38:19[SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna give some respect to Indiana.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_02]: The Hoosiers are 21 and two of the last two years.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_02]: They know how to win.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's a good pick.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_02]: And I do think I wanna team with a quarterback.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_02]: And Fernando Mandosa is a hell of a quarterback.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_02]: And he didn't have a great game against Penn State at all until he had to.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_02]: And then he was lights out.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, the catch by Omar Cooper was one of the greatest things I've ever seen.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_02]: But man, Mendoza, that drive to get sacked on first down, no timeouts, 100,000 people going bonkers, get up, regroup, dime, dime, dime, dime, and take them down the field.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_02]: That was really impressive.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_02]: So, give me the Hoosiers, never daunted, speaking of Fernando Mendoza, where I'm on the way from
- 39:11[SPEAKER_02]: It's still like there's so there's a lot that can sus out.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_02]: I wrote this week that we should have more candidates not fewer at this time of year Put 10 in a column as of today I'm gonna ask you guys what your ballot would be and in what order for me
- 39:30[SPEAKER_02]: I'm putting Mendoza first.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_02]: It's not written in stones, not written in ink even.
- 39:34[SPEAKER_02]: It's not written at this point.
- 39:36[SPEAKER_02]: But that's who I would go with if I had to fill out a ballot today, Thursday, November 13th.
- 39:41[SPEAKER_02]: I would put Julian Sian's second.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_02]: I may not be the best player on his own offense.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_02]: That's the problem there because Jeremiah Smith is the greatest talent, but man has say and been good.
- 39:52[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, incredibly good, better than I expected him to be.
- 39:56[SPEAKER_02]: And third,
- 39:57[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to go Diego, Pavia.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_02]: I'm tempted by Jeremiah Love.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_02]: I'm tempted by Jacob Rodriguez, the linebacker at Texas Tech.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_02]: But what Pavia's done to lift a program and his put up just monster numbers the last couple of weeks, I just don't think there's any denying his value to Vanderbilt and to college football.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_02]: Fellas, I will seed the floor to you all on this.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_02]: go ahead, Brian.
- 40:26[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I'm going to go off the radar too.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I think it's it's a weird heistman here because I don't feel like there's any like, you know, coalescing around like some momentum in terms of one candidate or the other, like it feels like an in almost we've kind of said this the last couple of years, but it really rings through this year in terms of.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_00]: This is the most wide open high has been raised and we only got a couple weeks of the regular season a couple weeks So we ended up having to turn in our our ballots and you know, it's like I have no clue who I'm going to end up putting on there like I mean The three names that I give you are could be way it well off the radar in terms of the three names
- 40:59[SPEAKER_00]: actually turn in and that's not an indication of all right these these last three games just matter over over more than than some of the others it's just that's kind of the nature of this race and I think if I had to put guys in order I put David Bailey it's on my ballot, Lisa Nation and Sachs he has been transformative I think in terms of that Texas Tech past rush and really what that team has been about this season I think his move you know in the portal was not only one of the biggest moves
- 41:25[SPEAKER_00]: But really energizes that program.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_00]: He gives that defense juice, I think Jacob Rodriguez is another guy that that's right there And my mind of splitting the vote there for Texas Tech if they end up we're running the table win in the big 12 for the first time ever And it we're making it to the big 12 championship game for the first time ever But to see what he's done consistently down to down and getting after the quarterback he he's been outstanding I put Diego Pavia there at number two you're right Pat.
- 41:51[SPEAKER_00]: I mean for all the reasons you articulated
- 41:53[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he has carried that program, even that Auburn game.
- 41:55[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he was responsible for like 70 plus percent of the yardage there and all, you know, all but one of the scores.
- 42:01[SPEAKER_00]: So he is really carried Vanderbilt not only to national relevance, but on the brink of the playoff, which it which is crazy to think, you know, just that program itself and where they sit in the SEC and certainly they have some some big games to close things out to where he could have a marquee moment, you know, not only putting up numbers against Kentucky, but possibly into the season that could be a play in game.
- 42:22[SPEAKER_00]: for the playoff, if you will, at Tennessee.
- 42:24[SPEAKER_00]: So Diego Pavia would be number two.
- 42:26[SPEAKER_00]: And then I am throwing Jeremiah love in.
- 42:27[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's, he's almost gotten overlooked in terms of this run that Notre Dame has been on.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_00]: And you go back to the early and the year.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, one of the reasons why they lost that Miami game, they were not turning the ball around and handed it off to Jeremiah love.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_00]: He was not non-factor in some of their losses.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_00]: When he's on, when he's breaking those long runs, he is outstanding.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_00]: And I think he certainly deserves to be in that
- 42:52[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I will preface my three by saying, and I'm guessing you guys share the same sentiment.
- 42:58[SPEAKER_03]: All these picks are like angel hair pasta thin differences between one player to the next to the next.
- 43:06[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_03]: Who's ever fourth or fifth on our list or sixth?
- 43:11[SPEAKER_03]: I'm a humongous fan of Pavia.
- 43:15[SPEAKER_03]: I did not put him on the list because I felt like if I put Pavia on there,
- 43:21[SPEAKER_03]: Haines King, a Georgia Tech.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_03]: is very much the same kind of player has the same kind of importance and has done sort of the same kind of things that Pavia has done.
- 43:33[SPEAKER_03]: Maybe he's not as a flamboyant, he isn't as a personality, but I think there's similar players.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_03]: Doesn't mean they're not deserving of being on someone's ballot.
- 43:44[SPEAKER_03]: I have no problem with what Pavia being on a ballot.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, glad you brought him up, that's good.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, my, my number one is, is saying and for a lot of the reasons that Pat mentioned, but I, I think he's, he's just been too good to ignore.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_03]: And yes, you can talk about their wide receivers, but guess what?
- 44:12[SPEAKER_03]: I can talk about, I use wide receivers.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_03]: And that's always part of it.
- 44:19[SPEAKER_03]: So he would be number one on my ballot.
- 44:22[SPEAKER_03]: Number two, a player that neither one of you mentioned.
- 44:27[SPEAKER_03]: Let me just refresh your memories.
- 44:28[SPEAKER_03]: There's a guy at Alabama, plays quarterback Ty Simpson, who's having an unbelievable season.
- 44:35[SPEAKER_03]: And in many ways has carried that team without a running game, at least without a consistent running game at Bama.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_03]: So he would be number two on my list.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_03]: I did think about Mendoza, and if I could have four picks, he would be on there.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going with Jeremiah Love as a number three pick, not to be contrarian, not as a, you know, to refute anything about Mendoza, but just I can't ignore what what Love has done at a position that I don't think gets a respect that it deserves anymore.
- 45:14[SPEAKER_03]: So I agree there.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_03]: Notre Dame is built
- 45:21[SPEAKER_03]: And so I'm going to for right now in as Brian said that this is so fluid that next week we could have an entirely different list, but right now Jeremiah love would be number three in my list.
- 45:36[SPEAKER_02]: Ohio State Alabama Notre Dame Jean loves the loves the underdog programs.
- 45:41[SPEAKER_02]: I think you have to in this case from the bottom Right you go pulling up the boost drafts.
- 45:48[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, I think something I've never get any breaks there now We don't Speaking of lamponing Jean though.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_02]: It's that time winners and stake dinners are weekly pick them contest
- 46:03[SPEAKER_02]: things are not going great at the moment.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_02]: But maybe worse for one of us more than the others.
- 46:11[SPEAKER_02]: Overall, standings.
- 46:14[SPEAKER_02]: Brian leading at 29 and 27 went three and two last week.
- 46:21[SPEAKER_02]: Jean and I have slumped below 500.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_02]: Jean is 27 and 30.
- 46:27[SPEAKER_02]: I am 26 and 30.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_02]: The fat bear is the only thing keeping him out of a tie for the basement.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_02]: And he did go, oh, and five last week.
- 46:37[SPEAKER_02]: How do you think of yourself?
- 46:38[SPEAKER_02]: I was two and three.
- 46:39[SPEAKER_03]: OK.
- 46:41[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_03]: Well, a few things.
- 46:44[SPEAKER_03]: Unlike you Pat, I'm not going to line about a quarter back who took a knee as he was running for a touch down that would have been the cover.
- 46:53[SPEAKER_03]: It's because you didn't have any of those.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_03]: Well, last the previous week you did you mentioned something.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_02]: I know.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_02]: But you didn't, you weren't even close enough.
- 47:01[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I understand.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_03]: But the point is I'm not going to make excuses.
- 47:05[SPEAKER_03]: All right.
- 47:05[SPEAKER_03]: Second.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm going to channel my inner LSU here.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_03]: just like the LSU is channeling it with Brian Kelly at the moment.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_03]: Pat, you are not formally authorized to accept my picks last week.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_03]: Secondly, secondly, I have decided to terminate those picks based on cause.
- 47:30[SPEAKER_03]: All right, so I'm firing those picks.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_03]: So it's a shipping never happened.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_03]: And instead, I'm just going to invoke five fat bear picks clever very clever there you go
- 47:46[SPEAKER_03]: Look, I'm going to be Jeff Landry and say, no, we fired your ass.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_03]: I, I stunk, I deserve all the mocking.
- 47:53[SPEAKER_03]: I mocked you guys for your picks the previous week.
- 47:55[SPEAKER_03]: So this is called karma.
- 47:57[SPEAKER_03]: I'll accept it and move on.
- 47:59[SPEAKER_02]: There you go.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_02]: We need a rally to catch up behind you, my dear.
- 48:05[SPEAKER_02]: And we go start with a game.
- 48:06[SPEAKER_02]: I actually wanted to discuss just a little bit beyond making the pick.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_02]: And that's Notre Dame giving 12 and a half at Pittsburgh.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_02]: And is there a chance pit is going to really tank this game?
- 48:19[SPEAKER_02]: Producer Kent, can you please play the sound of Patton Arduzi talking about this game?
- 48:26[SPEAKER_01]: Do you feel like this is a must win for this team or comes to have this one?
- 48:30[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely not, you know, it is not a VACC game, I think I'd like to brought that up, it's not a VACC game, you know, I gladly get be 133 or 110 to 10 in that game, but 100 up on us, I was going to win the next two after that, but I get our focuses out of Notre Dame and getting this many wins this weekend.
- 48:52[SPEAKER_02]: Pat and Arduzy cool with getting beat 103 or 110 to 10.
- 48:57[SPEAKER_02]: Oddly specific scores you came up with there, but I want you to lie.
- 49:05[SPEAKER_03]: 103 to 10 is the combined score of their last two losses to Notre Dame.
- 49:09[SPEAKER_02]: Is it?
- 49:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_02]: Well, there you go.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 49:12[SPEAKER_02]: Explained.
- 49:14[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, but not explained is, is this a, is this a wise strategy is it a real strategy is he like, I really don't care what happens this game because I can look at the landscape and say, if we don't win the ACC, we're not going to the playoff, they're last two games big big games after Notre Dame at Georgia Tech and Miami.
- 49:38[SPEAKER_02]: So if they win both and they get to 7 and 1 in ACC play, they would quite likely be in the ACC championship game and then playing for the automatic bid.
- 49:51[SPEAKER_02]: Or is he underselling his team and thinking, hey, we win these well three games, we might be able to get in that large bid at 10 and 2.
- 49:59[SPEAKER_02]: What's you guys thoughts on this?
- 50:01[SPEAKER_02]: Gene, is an arduousie just talking?
- 50:04[SPEAKER_02]: Or is he actually going to tank against the Irish?
- 50:07[SPEAKER_03]: Well, we've all seen our doozy.
- 50:10[SPEAKER_03]: He runs hot.
- 50:11[SPEAKER_03]: He runs passionate.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_03]: He, you know, the idea of him just conceding a game is ridiculous.
- 50:20[SPEAKER_03]: Do I believe a word that he just said there?
- 50:23[SPEAKER_03]: No.
- 50:24[SPEAKER_03]: I think he walked in his locker room or the meeting room later and said, all right, I have lowered the expectations.
- 50:34[SPEAKER_03]: I'm trying to take the pressure off you guys now let's go out there and kick Notre Dame's But I don't believe for a second he wants to get beat 103 to 10 to Notre Dame Ryan so who's the picture?
- 50:53[SPEAKER_03]: He's taken the answer you wanted to go ahead and do the picture.
- 50:58[SPEAKER_03]: I've come up with a number of reasons why pit can cover this game.
- 51:03[SPEAKER_03]: To get Notre Dame at home, game day is there.
- 51:06[SPEAKER_03]: The retiring Aaron Donald's jersey, both teams aren't heaters.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_03]: Notre Dame's one seven row, pits one five in a row.
- 51:14[SPEAKER_03]: It's strength against strength, Notre Dame is 26 and rushing offense.
- 51:19[SPEAKER_03]: Pit's defense is number three in rushing yards per game.
- 51:23[SPEAKER_03]: They're coming off a game where they held Stanford, take it for what it's worth, to minus 10 rushing yards.
- 51:29[SPEAKER_03]: Pit is coming off of a buy week.
- 51:32[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, there's all sorts of reasons to pick pit.
- 51:35[SPEAKER_03]: And yet I just can't.
- 51:38[SPEAKER_03]: So I'm going to take Notre Dame.
- 51:40[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to give the points.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_03]: I like to think it's going to be a close game for a half and then I just think Notre Dame pulls away.
- 51:49[SPEAKER_02]: Another Gino zigzag.
- 51:50[SPEAKER_00]: There you go.
- 51:51[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see about that with you.
- 51:53[SPEAKER_00]: I understand what you're saying, especially early on, and I think being healthy and especially some of those linebackers, they've been beat up time and they've been kind of a shuffle out of the line up.
- 52:01[SPEAKER_00]: But you know, I think is actually proven to be a little bit deeper, you know, as a team then we first expected coming into the season.
- 52:08[SPEAKER_00]: And I think Pat Narduzzi,
- 52:09[SPEAKER_00]: knowing the score, those previous Notre Dame games that he's played against as the pithead coach.
- 52:15[SPEAKER_00]: I think he understands how important this game is, or saying this might be the biggest game, the biggest pit game at Akrasher Stadium in the history that they've been playing there, just given all the things that are going into.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_00]: You mentioned game day, just having a playoff hopes, maybe on the line with this one.
- 52:32[SPEAKER_00]: I think pit ends up covering the number.
- 52:35[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if they win, but I think the way that they have played, been playing since Mason I chose has been inserted in the starting lineup.
- 52:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, he's a freshman.
- 52:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, he's bound to make a few mistakes.
- 52:44[SPEAKER_00]: He throws the ball with some reckless obeyed at times.
- 52:48[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe that gets them in trouble against this Irish defense that loves to force takeaways, but
- 52:52[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, there's something about Pithas here, you know, and I think that you kind of see that Sly smile from Pat and Arduzi when he knows he has a good hand and I think he thinks he has a good hand going into this game.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_00]: So, so I'll roll with him.
- 53:07[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, the the number is very, it's intriguing to me.
- 53:10[SPEAKER_02]: It feels like a pretty big number for all the reasons you guys laid out, not the least of which is pit having the open date to get healthier and to prepare more.
- 53:19[SPEAKER_02]: Especially because Notre Dame
- 53:21[SPEAKER_02]: Couldn't really peek ahead last week.
- 53:23[SPEAKER_02]: That'd prepare for Navy option.
- 53:24[SPEAKER_02]: It's not like you can just half step past that.
- 53:29[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm going, I'm taking Notre Dame.
- 53:31[SPEAKER_02]: I think Notre Dame is playing extremely well right now.
- 53:34[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm going to take Notre Dame to cover that and give some problems to the freshman quarterback as good as he's been.
- 53:45[SPEAKER_02]: All right, let's get to the SEC games.
- 53:48[SPEAKER_02]: Again, I will be between the hedges for Texas.
- 53:51[SPEAKER_02]: Georgia, the number Texas is getting six and a half.
- 53:57[SPEAKER_02]: which is that you're gonna hear this number repeated here for the few games.
- 54:01[SPEAKER_02]: But, to me, I'm going with the dogs here.
- 54:06[SPEAKER_02]: Texas hasn't been a very good road team and Georgia is for the many reasons, Gene and Umrate, if they aren't, they are up to kill.
- 54:14[SPEAKER_02]: They find ways to win.
- 54:16[SPEAKER_02]: Gunner Stockton is playing quite well for Georgia quarterback.
- 54:25[SPEAKER_02]: the the Texas road games lost Ohio State fine where they were offense was dreadful loss at Florida bad loss barely beat Kentucky barely beat Mississippi state they got to play a lot better than that in Athens and I don't think that Georgia's gonna allow it so I'm taking Georgia in the points Kirby smart beat Texas twice last year
- 54:52[SPEAKER_03]: and neither one of those games was in Athens.
- 54:56[SPEAKER_03]: So getting them in Athens is a huge deal.
- 55:00[SPEAKER_03]: All the other reasons you just mentioned Pat are totally valid.
- 55:04[SPEAKER_03]: I think Gunner Stockton gives him a dimension that could cause Texas some issues.
- 55:12[SPEAKER_03]: I think Georgia's running game has gotten better.
- 55:15[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm unsure if Texas can run the ball consistently.
- 55:19[SPEAKER_03]: So the combination of all those things, I'm with Georgia and I'm laying the points.
- 55:25[SPEAKER_00]: Make it a clean clean sweep there and I will go Georgia as well.
- 55:29[SPEAKER_00]: I'm reluctant a little bit just because of you certainly saw it in the SEC championship game last year.
- 55:34[SPEAKER_00]: You know, the chess match between Sark and Kirby and Glenn Schuman.
- 55:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think there is something there.
- 55:40[SPEAKER_00]: I think they have some kind of
- 55:41[SPEAKER_00]: You know, the answers to the answers to the answers in this one, you know, are going to be intriguing.
- 55:45[SPEAKER_00]: And I think the quarterback run game with Arch into that, that's a key thing.
- 55:49[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you could see, you go back to the old misgame that I was at there, between the hedges as well.
- 55:53[SPEAKER_00]: Turned-in-dad, Chambers was able to scramble enough by extra time for his wide receivers.
- 55:58[SPEAKER_00]: I think Arch can kind of do the same thing.
- 55:59[SPEAKER_00]: It wouldn't surprise me at all if this ends up being a close game into the fourth quarter, but Georgia ultimately, because they are hard to kill.
- 56:06[SPEAKER_00]: ends up covering the number with some late scores.
- 56:08[SPEAKER_00]: That just seems like they're emo this year.
- 56:10[SPEAKER_00]: They they've fallen behind every game in the SEC except for that Kentucky game.
- 56:14[SPEAKER_00]: And so they they get behind, but then they kind of slowly chip away at you.
- 56:18[SPEAKER_00]: And then they just kind of end up surviving in the end.
- 56:21[SPEAKER_00]: So I think they will end up covering the number at home.
- 56:23[SPEAKER_00]: But this could be a close game for most of those four quarters.
- 56:28[SPEAKER_02]: I know more than a few Georgia fans who grumble that Kirby never covers.
- 56:31[SPEAKER_02]: But I think he's going to I think he's going to cover this time.
- 56:35[SPEAKER_02]: uh... the other game brine will be brined denny after noon kick oklahoma getting six and a half against the crimson tide brine your thoughts
- 56:46[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, first, uh, first offense to 24 points might end up winning this one, you know, this, you figure with, especially if, if Oklahoma coming off the buy, that past rush our Mason Thomas, if he's able to go in this game, they can keep this thing close.
- 56:58[SPEAKER_00]: I think John material will be able to, to make some plays, but ultimately, Alabama at home, giving that black hoodie of death on Kailin DeBore and covering that six and a half.
- 57:09[SPEAKER_03]: I'll take out when you owe you in the six and a half.
- 57:12[SPEAKER_03]: I think I'll use defensive line.
- 57:16[SPEAKER_03]: Um, and I think OU has started to find a running game and Bama doesn't have one and OU has a D line and I think I think OU even if it loses is going to stay within the number.
- 57:30[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think this is going to be pretty muddy.
- 57:32[SPEAKER_02]: It from a defensive standpoint, probably fairly dominant, a lot of punts who doesn't turn the ball over.
- 57:40[SPEAKER_02]: In which case I like Kalin the Bores team, they're good with the ball, and I'm gonna take Bama, it's a 7 point game, and the number 6 and a half, this is 23 to 16 or something of that extent, roll tied.
- 57:55[SPEAKER_02]: Big 10 game, Iowa, still trying to hang around.
- 58:00[SPEAKER_02]: The playoff race took a tough loss to Oregon at home in just classic Iowa weather and a classic Kurt Ference game 18 to 16.
- 58:12[SPEAKER_02]: They go out to sunny SoCal and play a U.S. team that is playing quite well.
- 58:16[SPEAKER_02]: Iowa, like Texas and Oklahoma, getting six and a half in the Coliseum, you know, where you're going?
- 58:24[SPEAKER_03]: So you want to be a playoff team, USA.
- 58:27[SPEAKER_03]: So this is your chance because you get Iowa at home and then you're at Oregon, then you end up against UCLA.
- 58:36[SPEAKER_03]: Iowa, Gabe Oregon.
- 58:38[SPEAKER_03]: everything it wanted, and then more.
- 58:40[SPEAKER_03]: But the game was at Iowa City.
- 58:42[SPEAKER_03]: It was in the cold, and it was in the rain, and now they're going to, as you said, sunny, Southern California.
- 58:50[SPEAKER_03]: But guess what?
- 58:51[SPEAKER_03]: Have you looked at the forecast?
- 58:53[SPEAKER_03]: Nope.
- 58:54[SPEAKER_03]: Rain.
- 58:54[SPEAKER_03]: What?
- 58:55[SPEAKER_03]: Heavy rain.
- 58:57[SPEAKER_03]: So does that change things?
- 59:00[SPEAKER_03]: I'm still going to take USC and lay those points.
- 59:06[SPEAKER_03]: I just think at the very end, they're going to somehow nudge ahead by seven, but I think it's going to be literally a muddy sloppy game, but I'm going, I have enough faith in USC that they're going to be able to slowness the margins cover that six and a half.
- 59:25[SPEAKER_00]: And you see on the road versus at home, pretty white split in terms of not only covering the number and going to get the spread, but I'm still going to go, I win this one, you know, just the way you look at the way they played northwestern last weekend, the you see linebackers there.
- 59:40[SPEAKER_00]: especially in the first half man that the run fits were awful like they were they were not playing well at the at the lineback in court that front seven was getting pushed around a little bit and if that was north of western i think that rushing attack especially accounting for the quarterback run in this one i think i was able to kind of keep this close because it is rainy
- 59:57[SPEAKER_00]: They're muddle up.
- 59:58[SPEAKER_00]: You see likes to run the ball.
- 59:59[SPEAKER_00]: I think they'll actually try to keep keep this a pretty low scoring affair.
- 1:00:03[SPEAKER_00]: This might be one of your classic big 10 West games almost to out west.
- 1:00:07[SPEAKER_00]: Give me I would to cover the number in in a close one, even though I think USC might win by a field goal.
- 1:00:13[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to go with Iowa as well for a lot of those reasons.
- 1:00:16[SPEAKER_02]: I I watched the USC Northwestern game and
- 1:00:21[SPEAKER_02]: The story of the history of Northwestern's program was told in one play, basically.
- 1:00:27[SPEAKER_02]: They intercept, jade my ava, running it in for a touchdown, and then credit to my ava, great hustle play comes over, forces the fumble, but the guy, the defensive alignment of, you know, doesn't know what the heck to do with the football.
- 1:00:39[SPEAKER_02]: reaching it out for the pylon.
- 1:00:40[SPEAKER_02]: No, dude, just get tackled at the one and then they'll score the next play.
- 1:00:44[SPEAKER_02]: He fumbles into the end zone.
- 1:00:46[SPEAKER_02]: North Western completely botches the recovery for a touchdown.
- 1:00:49[SPEAKER_02]: It's a touchback and then the next play, USC goes 55 yards.
- 1:00:55[SPEAKER_02]: There you go.
- 1:00:56[SPEAKER_02]: I Like what USC is done in terms of getting better this year, but I don't love the team.
- 1:01:00[SPEAKER_02]: I think Iowa at least keeps it close I'm even happier to hear it might be a mud bath in the Coliseum.
- 1:01:07[SPEAKER_02]: Give me Iowa in the points
- 1:01:09[SPEAKER_02]: All right, lock of the wake, who has one?
- 1:01:13[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I got one.
- 1:01:15[SPEAKER_00]: And I want to, you know, and inform the listeners and the watchers out there on YouTube.
- 1:01:19[SPEAKER_00]: Number one, please rate and review and subscribe and tell your friends, because we are coming for our compatriots at the MMQB.
- 1:01:26[SPEAKER_00]: In terms of the number of downloads, we're coming after them hard.
- 1:01:28[SPEAKER_00]: And so tell your friends,
- 1:01:30[SPEAKER_00]: But the reason that I bring this up is because our little group text, you know, on a Saturday always gets lit up when discussing North Carolina, it seems like pat in particular every time He makes a pick for the Carolina, you know, or he's talking about the tar heel is not covering the number like our text gets lit up in terms of the other rules even votes text group and so I for that reason I am going with
- 1:01:55[SPEAKER_00]: Wake Forest, because I will be the one complaining about them with Carolina this week.
- 1:01:58[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going Wake Forest, they're they're given six points.
- 1:02:01[SPEAKER_00]: The last time the Deaks won in Chapel Hill, do either of you know, 2006.
- 1:02:07[SPEAKER_00]: They have really twice at Keenan in the last quarter century.
- 1:02:11[SPEAKER_00]: Five times in my lifetime, they've won in Chapel Hill.
- 1:02:15[SPEAKER_00]: Number six this weekend, they cover the six, give me Wake Forest.
- 1:02:20[SPEAKER_02]: I like the pick.
- 1:02:21[SPEAKER_02]: I love Jake Dickard.
- 1:02:23[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's done a phenomenal job at week.
- 1:02:26[SPEAKER_02]: And yes, I have dog cuss Carolina.
- 1:02:29[SPEAKER_02]: Carolina blowing the cover against Stanford was one of the most appalling things I've ever seen.
- 1:02:34[SPEAKER_02]: But anyway, go ahead, Jean.
- 1:02:36[SPEAKER_03]: Well, first time looking to the background, is that like some sort of theater stage you're on with the shadow gothic shadows
- 1:02:47[SPEAKER_03]: It's I am wearing Carolina blue.
- 1:02:49[SPEAKER_03]: I just noticed that I'm not taking Carolina in my lock of the week.
- 1:02:53[SPEAKER_03]: No, I'm I'm I'm
- 1:02:54[SPEAKER_03]: terrified even make a lock of the week pick given my my records in this, but I was trying to figure out a way to take Florida and get those 15 and half points against Ole Miss and I was thinking, well, they'd be Texas.
- 1:03:09[SPEAKER_03]: It could have been Georgia.
- 1:03:11[SPEAKER_03]: Florida is one three and a row versus Ole Miss, including last year when they were 13 point under dog.
- 1:03:18[SPEAKER_03]: and they eliminate it all missed from the CFP consideration.
- 1:03:22[SPEAKER_03]: I just can't unforget that loss to Kentucky last week, horrible.
- 1:03:27[SPEAKER_03]: And I can't unforget the lagway, interceptions, and him getting benched, and it just look like a team that, and I don't use this term very often, but like they just had phoned it in.
- 1:03:42[SPEAKER_03]: They just gave up.
- 1:03:43[SPEAKER_03]: And I get this games at Ole Miss and I'm thinking if they get down again, do they just say we're done.
- 1:03:50[SPEAKER_03]: And so I'm going to go with the word done factor.
- 1:03:53[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to Ole Miss is incredible at home.
- 1:03:57[SPEAKER_03]: The numbers that they put up at home, the record at home.
- 1:04:02[SPEAKER_03]: So I'll I'll take Ole Miss in the University of Lane and give the points.
- 1:04:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that the DJ lagway factor there and they are bringing them back and starting quarter back.
- 1:04:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, it does not inspire confidence.
- 1:04:16[SPEAKER_02]: All right, I'm going to go to the big 12, which is risky because you never know what the hell's going to happen in the big 12 from week to week.
- 1:04:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, give me Utah, laying seven and a half at Baylor.
- 1:04:32[SPEAKER_02]: I hate the hook, but I don't care.
- 1:04:38[SPEAKER_02]: Baylor inconsistent to say the least defensively iffy.
- 1:04:44[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm taking the youth to it's a seven and a half spread.
- 1:04:47[SPEAKER_02]: They're gonna win by 10.
- 1:04:48[SPEAKER_03]: If 31, 21, Utah.
- 1:04:50[SPEAKER_03]: Right that down, Brian, 10.
- 1:04:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, 10, absolutely.
- 1:04:55[SPEAKER_02]: You'll hear for me, if it ends up being like six, I'll be on the group text, dog cussing somebody.
- 1:05:01[SPEAKER_02]: So.
- 1:05:01[SPEAKER_02]: All right, speaking of Cussin and Fussin, we gotta close with this.
- 1:05:07[SPEAKER_02]: Florida man, at it again, can always count on him.
- 1:05:12[SPEAKER_02]: Port St. Lucy, this is a channel seven news.
- 1:05:18[SPEAKER_02]: A heated debate outside of Port St. Lucy, pub, it's always a pub, turning dangerous.
- 1:05:25[SPEAKER_02]: And police said the altercation was all about chicken and eggs.
- 1:05:30[SPEAKER_02]: According to the police, early Tuesday morning, I don't know which Tuesday harpers pub there was a argument.
- 1:05:39[SPEAKER_02]: This is the quote from the police sergeant.
- 1:05:41[SPEAKER_02]: These guys, they love talking to the media.
- 1:05:44[SPEAKER_02]: I think something like that can say, can you believe the stuff that we have to deal with on our job?
- 1:05:48[SPEAKER_02]: There was a conversation about how many I kid you not, how many eggs a chicken can lay, and that conversation got a little heated.
- 1:05:58[SPEAKER_02]: Bullets flew as the two men shared different convictions.
- 1:06:04[SPEAKER_02]: Three people were arrested.
- 1:06:06[SPEAKER_02]: Guns were collected.
- 1:06:09[SPEAKER_02]: My question, how many eggs can a chicken leg, right?
- 1:06:14[SPEAKER_02]: Do we have an answer?
- 1:06:15[SPEAKER_02]: Do we know?
- 1:06:16[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure there we might have some poultry scientists that listen to us.
- 1:06:20[SPEAKER_02]: Please let us know, but I want your opinions.
- 1:06:23[SPEAKER_02]: Gene, can you give me a best guess?
- 1:06:26[SPEAKER_02]: Like how many eggs can a chicken leg and how often?
- 1:06:30[SPEAKER_02]: Like do they have to reload every month?
- 1:06:32[SPEAKER_02]: There's like two months?
- 1:06:33[SPEAKER_02]: How long is it take for a chicken to produce an egg and how many?
- 1:06:37[SPEAKER_03]: Well, in my many years of chicken raising, first of all, if I had a nickel for every time I've heard this chicken egg incident situation across the country, I don't know.
- 1:06:49[SPEAKER_03]: Can we call like somebody's agriculture school and have them tell us, but if we're each gonna do a guess, like are we saying, during the course of a day, a week, a month, what's your number?
- 1:07:05[SPEAKER_03]: OK, so a week, I'm going to guess that a chicken can lay a dozen eggs.
- 1:07:13[SPEAKER_03]: That seems like the right number.
- 1:07:15[SPEAKER_03]: It doesn't eggs during the course of a week.
- 1:07:18[SPEAKER_03]: Brian, because it comes in those boxes, right?
- 1:07:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, I'll go with that.
- 1:07:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know, and by the way, you know, a free idea for some TV executive that's listing along out there.
- 1:07:30[SPEAKER_00]: Just do it, just do a show at some Florida bar.
- 1:07:33[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you know, just have some cameras rolling, get the parking lot, get the inside, you know, like the content for days, you know, like it feels like this sports hit Lucy bar or whatever you're talking about Pat.
- 1:07:43[SPEAKER_00]: Seems like it would be perfect for some show on Tubey.
- 1:07:45[SPEAKER_00]: That's just like Florida people coming in and out of the bar.
- 1:07:49[SPEAKER_00]: Just talking about random things like this.
- 1:07:51[SPEAKER_00]: free idea for the TV executive out there.
- 1:07:53[SPEAKER_00]: I will also go with the dozen eggs a week.
- 1:07:55[SPEAKER_00]: Although that's maybe that seems a little bit high.
- 1:07:57[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe we'll go to a dozen every two weeks.
- 1:08:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think you guys are operating a sweatshop a chicken sweatshop if you want to dozen eggs a week.
- 1:08:17[SPEAKER_02]: So we have to get going.
- 1:08:20[SPEAKER_02]: You need two or three weeks to get your work.
- 1:08:23[SPEAKER_00]: As I was spot on, it doesn't have two weeks.
- 1:08:26[SPEAKER_02]: You changed your mind though.
- 1:08:28[SPEAKER_02]: You started with one.
- 1:08:28[SPEAKER_02]: You started with a dozen a week and then you went to it doesn't every two weeks.
- 1:08:33[SPEAKER_02]: Now, you know, look, we have in here in a human nation, we do not want to over tax our chickens.
- 1:08:40[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 1:08:40[SPEAKER_02]: Let them work at their pace and produce
- 1:08:44[SPEAKER_02]: four to six a week, every two or three weeks, you've got a carton, then they get like a week off or a spa day or something, give the chicken a little bit of time to recoup and then get back after.
- 1:08:56[SPEAKER_03]: That's smart.
- 1:08:57[SPEAKER_02]: I want that.
- 1:08:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:08:59[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't know what these esteemed geniuses carrying guns while drunk were actually arguing, particularly.
- 1:09:07[SPEAKER_02]: But there's the answer for them.
- 1:09:09[SPEAKER_02]: Could have kept them out of jail if they just checked with
- 1:09:12[SPEAKER_02]: others receiving votes.
- 1:09:13[SPEAKER_02]: We would have we would have that form.
- 1:09:16[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 1:09:16[SPEAKER_02]: That's clearly that's enough of this show.
- 1:09:18[SPEAKER_02]: We have we have maxed out and are bottomed out one of the two.
- 1:09:23[SPEAKER_02]: But we'll be back next week.
- 1:09:24[SPEAKER_02]: Please do listen, subscribe, rate if you want to say nice things, and we will talk to you later and enjoy the football Saturday.
