- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Norwegian with Fexingo. I am Lucas. Luna: And I am Luna. It is so good to be here again. Lucas: It really is. We have been talking about physical movements and daily habits lately. Luna: Yes, like walking, sitting, eating, and drinking. Lucas: Exactly. Today we want to talk about change. Or rather, the state of staying the same. Luna: That sounds a bit philosophical for a language lesson. Lucas: Maybe a little. But it is one of the most useful words in Norwegian. The verb å bli. Luna: Å bli. Okay. What does that mean exactly? Lucas: It means to become, or to stay. It depends on the context. Luna: To become. Like changing from one thing to another. Lucas: Yes. Let us try the first phrase. Jeg blir glad. Luna: Jeg blir glad. Lucas: Good. Jeg means I. Blir is becoming. Glad means happy. Luna: So, I am becoming happy. Or I get happy. Lucas: Both work. In Norwegian, you often use it to describe a sudden feeling. Luna: Like when you hear some good news. Lucas: Exactly. Let us say it again. Jeg blir glad. Luna: Jeg blir glad. Lucas: Perfect. Now, let us look at a different use. Staying somewhere. Luna: Staying. Like remaining in a place. Lucas: Right. If someone asks if you want to join them, they might ask this. Lucas: Blir du med? Luna: Blir du med? Lucas: Blir is staying. Du is you. Med is with. Luna: So, are you staying with us? Or do you come with? Lucas: It is an invitation. It means, will you come along? Luna: Oh, I love that. It feels very friendly. Lucas: It is. Let us practice it. Blir du med? Luna: Blir du med? Lucas: Great. Now, imagine we are going to a party. You are worried. Luna: I am usually a bit shy at parties. Lucas: So I tell you not to worry. I say, det blir bra. Luna: Det blir bra. Lucas: Det is it. Blir becomes. Bra is good. Luna: It will be good. That is reassuring. Lucas: It is a very common phrase. Det blir bra. Luna: Det blir bra. Lucas: Let us try it once more. Det blir bra. Luna: Det blir bra. Lucas: You are doing great.
