Speaker 1: I'm your host, james Lauriello, and today we've got a banger of an episode, one of the many bangers of many episodes that we've had.
• 0:09
Speaker 1: We are going to have the Sub Stuff Episode 5.
• 0:12
Speaker 1: For those of you who are new to the podcast or just joining us, the Sub Stuff is basically just a recap, a little weekly breakdown of everything that happened over the past week in our sport of sub ultra and get Jesus God, we got a.
• 0:26
Speaker 1: We had a busy weekend, guys.
• 0:28
Speaker 1: Uh, broken arrow sky race just went down.
• 0:31
Speaker 1: We had the meet, the Minotaur sky race, as well as the sky race do make can tour, which is a French sky race that also happened.
• 0:40
Speaker 1: So we had two races on the sky Racing World Circuit the Sky Racing World Series that just went down this past weekend, as well as the Broken Arrow Sky Race that took place between the 21st, 22nd and 23rd of June this past week.
• 0:55
Speaker 1: So, without further ado, let's dive into it and kind of get into some of the storylines that went down.
• 1:01
Speaker 1: The weekend really started on friday, the 21st.
• 1:03
Speaker 1: Broken arrow um kicked off their weekend on friday with the vk, the iron face challenge, as well as the 18k.
• 1:11
Speaker 1: The vk, obviously one of the crown jewels of our uh kind of the racing in the united states.
• 1:17
Speaker 1: I mean, this was arguably one of the most competitive races ever assembled from sub ultra races ever assembled on american soil.
• 1:23
Speaker 1: I mean, if you were to probably break down some of the ITRA scores and then combine everything, uh, this might've been the top.
• 1:30
Speaker 1: I don't really know this was.
• 1:31
  Speaker 1: This was wild.
• 1:32
Speaker 1: What a stack race.
• 1:33
Speaker 1: Um, we also had the iron face challenge, which is a fun little five to six mile race that leverages a via Ferrara.
• 1:40
  Speaker 1: Um Verada, sorry.
• 1:42
Speaker 1: Um, if you guys have not tried out a via Verada, really fun Um, probably the only race in the United States.
• 1:48
Speaker 1: Um, kind of of that kind.
• 1:50
Speaker 1: And last but not least, broken arrow also kicked off for Friday with the 18 K race, which was a new kind of a new racing format, new distance they introduced for this year.
• 2:00
Speaker 1: Um, really was not like broken arrow light in any way.
• 2:03
Speaker 1: It was not a very easy course.
• 2:05
Speaker 1: I mean, I believe it was like 18 K with like 4,500 feet of vertical, so you were going over kind of KT 22 as well as washing out some of the storylines.
• 2:15
Speaker 1: We're only going to really break down the VK on Friday.
• 2:18
Speaker 1: Some of the storylines from the VK.
• 2:20
Speaker 1: I mean, Joyce Nauru really showed up in a big way.
• 2:23
Speaker 1: She kind of, you know, proved and showed why she's amongst the best in the world.
• 2:26
Speaker 1: Um, as well as Anna Gibson.
• 2:28
Speaker 1: She really showed some insane raid range.
• 2:30
Speaker 1: Um, she's been, you know, kind of on the tracks all year and now she's back on the trails kind of doing doing this dual sport.
• 2:37
Speaker 1: Um, and wow, just showed up in a huge way.
• 2:40
Speaker 1: She's so fit Um.
• 2:42
Speaker 1: And last but not least, like Ellie Mac really showed up as well.
• 2:44
Speaker 1: Um, she really showed that she can compete at the highest level.
• 2:47
Speaker 1: Um, even when dealing with an injury.
• 2:48
Speaker 1: You know Ali Mac had not run that much since the last golden trail series race over in Kobe.
• 2:53
Speaker 1: Um, so just amazing that she was able to show up at such a world-class VK race and just throw down and put down a killer time and finish on the podium.
• 3:01
  Speaker 1: So just incredible.
• 3:03
Speaker 1: Shout out to Allie Mack.
• 3:04
Speaker 1: On the men's side, patrick Kipaniego showed up in a big way as well.
• 3:07
Speaker 1: I feel like in a lot of ways he showed why he's, you know, the two-time vertical champ.
• 3:11
Speaker 1: He put a beating on everybody else in the field 36-minute VK on a pretty tough course, so pretty amazing to see him show up.
• 3:19
Speaker 1: Jim Wamsley also showed just such incredible range in second place.
• 3:23
Speaker 1: Um, you know, for those of you who don't know who Jim Wamsley is, you probably should do some Googling.
• 3:28
Speaker 1: Um, yeah, just incredible range.
• 3:30
Speaker 1: The guy is running Western States next week and just showed up and threw down and just kind of be some of these young whippersnappers um pretty wild.
• 3:38
Speaker 1: And then Mickey um, rosio and Christian Allen just showed why it kind of you know they're the, they're the future of the sport in a lot of ways, like such heart.
• 3:47
Speaker 1: I don't know if you guys saw that um real, that broken arrow posted of these two guys just just killing each other to get to the fine at the finish right behind Jim Walmsley.
• 3:56
Speaker 1: Um, you know, it looked like they were having heart attacks at the end.
• 4:00
Speaker 1: It was pretty wild.
• 4:00
Speaker 1: So kudos to those gentlemen for absolutely throwing down and just leaving it all out there.
• 4:05
Speaker 1: I mean, that's what the sport is all about.
• 4:08
Speaker 1: Let's get into times.
• 4:09
Speaker 1: One of the things I wanted to do is kind of break down the top 10.
• 4:11
Speaker 1: I feel like for this race was so deep that the top 10 really deserved a big shout out.
• 4:16
Speaker 1: So we're going to talk about the top 10.
• 4:18
Speaker 1: We'll start with the women's field and we're also going to break down some times.
• 4:21
Speaker 1: In first place in the VK was Joyce Nauru in 45 minutes 39 seconds and second place was on a Gibson in 4735.
• 4:29
Speaker 1: So, as you could see, kind of that separation between Joyce and Anna that's almost it's a little over two minutes, so pretty solid separation.
• 4:36
Speaker 1: Joyce was able to get over the rest of the field, um, and third place was Ali Mac in 4750.
• 4:43
Speaker 1: In fourth place was Hallie Hoffman in 4850.

Speaker 1: Um, like I said, just shows such incredible range.
• 5:52
Speaker 1: The guy is one of the greatest trail runners of all time.
• 5:54
Speaker 1: Um, you know he's really known.
• 5:56
Speaker 1: You know he's known now mostly as the first male um.
• 5:59
Speaker 1: You know American UTMB winner, um, as well as many time Western States winner.
• 6:04
Speaker 1: But like, just showed such incredible range.
• 6:06
Speaker 1: He took his wizard sticks out there and chase, chase Patrick up the hill.
• 6:10
Speaker 1: Pretty dope, pretty wild to watch.
• 6:12
Speaker 1: Um shout out to Wamsley Um.
• 6:14
Speaker 1: And third place was Mickey Rosio Um, sorry, buddy, I continue to mispronounce your last name or your first name as well 38 minutes three seconds.

Speaker 1: And seventh place was Philemon in 39 minutes 30 seconds.
• 6:43
Speaker 1: And in eighth place was Ryan Becker in 39 minutes 30 seconds.
• 6:46
Speaker 1: And an eighth place was Ryan Becker in 39 minutes 33 seconds.
• 6:48
Speaker 1: Big shout out to Ryan Becker.
• 6:49
  Speaker 1: Guys.
• 6:50
Speaker 1: I don't know if you guys follow him on Strava.
• 6:52
Speaker 1: Definitely give him a follow on social media.
• 6:54
Speaker 1: Strava is a great place to follow him as well.
• 6:57
Speaker 1: This guy's coming back, really just coming back from injury.
• 6:59
Speaker 1: I know he's been dealing with a lot of Achilles pain.
• 7:03
Speaker 1: I don't know if, I don't believe he had surgery, but I know he took a bunch of time off of running and just kind of has kind of been going through it.
• 7:08
Speaker 1: So let's, let's wish him the best of luck in the season coming off injury and, jesus Christ to finish, eighth place in this field coming off an injury like that Pretty wild.
• 7:17
Speaker 1: So big shout out to Ryan Becker.
• 7:19
Speaker 1: In ninth place was Mr Cam Smith, also returning from injury, in 40 minutes it looks like 40 minutes five seconds.
• 7:26
Speaker 1: And then in 10th place was legend Darren Thomas in 40 minutes 28 seconds.
• 7:32
Speaker 1: Nothing but amazing things to say about Broken Arrow weekend.
• 7:35
Speaker 1: I mean this VK was just absolutely wild.
• 7:37
Speaker 1: I don't know if you guys followed along, but definitely see if you can check out some of those reels that are on Instagram that Broken Arrow posted.
• 7:43
Speaker 1: I mean this was straight up a ski hill to get this to get started.
• 7:46
Speaker 1: And then, not only was it straight up a ski hill, you're basically bushwhacking for the first quarter mile of what it looked it might've even been worse Um, just like no trail.
• 7:55
Speaker 1: And then, until you break off into the road, so pretty cool to follow along.
• 7:59
Speaker 1: Um, you know big shout outs to a lot of guys out there.
• 8:11
Speaker 1: Um, also big shout out to like Andy Wacker, big shout out to Kieran Nay, um, and just a bunch of, uh, and you know, just a bunch of friends of the podcast.
• 8:14
Speaker 1: So, all right, moving on, we're going to get into Saturday.
• 8:15
Speaker 1: Saturday was a big day in trail running.
• 8:16
Speaker 1: We had the broken arrow 46 K.
• 8:18
Speaker 1: We also had the meet, the Minotaur sky race.
• 8:20
Speaker 1: We're going to start with the Broken Arrow 46K.
• 8:22
Speaker 1: For those of you who don't know, the Broken Arrow 46K is actually really the Broken Arrow 42.5K, so it's about a marathon distance 26.4 miles, and it's got about 2,774 meters of vertical.
• 8:36
Speaker 1: For you Americans out there, which is most of my listeners, it is 9,100 feet of vertical.
• 8:41
  Speaker 1: Lots of storylines.
• 8:43
Speaker 1: We're going to start with some of the 46K women's storylines.
• 8:47
Speaker 1: One of the big things we got to talk about is just like.
• 8:49
Speaker 1: Tony McCann just showed up in a big way.
• 8:52
Speaker 1: 15th place overall Showed exactly why she might be.
• 8:56
Speaker 1: I mean, it depends on how you define short course.
• 8:59
Speaker 1: I mean maybe we'll call this like a marathon distance, but I think from the marathon distance to the 50, to the 50 K, she's one of the best, if not the best, in the world.
• 9:07
Speaker 1: I mean, you see other girls like Jennifer Lickner kind of in that in that category, brittany Charbonneau um, yeah, tony McCann is just a, an absolute beast.
• 9:16
Speaker 1: So congrats to her to just show up and absolutely dominate this race.
• 9:20
Speaker 1: Um, and second place was clear roads.
• 9:22
Speaker 1: Big shout out to her as well.
• 9:23
Speaker 1: Um, she had a giant result.
• 9:25
Speaker 1: This was no surprise.
• 9:30
Speaker 1: Clear roads took third in the rut 50 K.
• 9:31
Speaker 1: She's had a lot of other giant results, so good on her for uh competing very well at this distance.
• 9:33
Speaker 1: And big shout out as well to Amanda Basham, who was competing in the triple crown, coming out in third place for this race.
• 9:40
  Speaker 1: Pretty, pretty awesome.
• 9:43
Speaker 1: Um, on the men's side of the field, pretty cool as well.
• 9:45
Speaker 1: Um, we had training partners, jeff McGavro and Adam Peterman duking it out for second and third, which is wild.
• 9:51
  Speaker 1: Um, man, I don't know.
• 9:53
Speaker 1: Again, you gotta hop on the broken arrow Instagram and you could just see some of these reels of these guys running together, poetry in motion.
• 10:00
Speaker 1: Um, just just really cool, really really cool.
• 10:06
Speaker 1: Um, and well, as first place, we had mr david sinclair.
• 10:07
Speaker 1: He is indeed back.
• 10:07
Speaker 1: I know he probably didn't get the result that he wanted at the broken arrow vk I believe I can't remember if he was 12th or 14th but man, did he show up in a big way and absolutely dominate the field.
• 10:16
Speaker 1: I mean, he beat the rest of the field by 10 minutes.
• 10:19
Speaker 1: I mean, david sinclair is absolutely for real, if you didn't think he was already, which he absolutely was and is.
• 10:25
Speaker 1: Um, yeah, welcome back, david Sinclair, holy shit.
• 10:28
Speaker 1: Um, okay, some other things.
• 10:31
Speaker 1: It seemed like heat was a big factor in this race.
• 10:32
Speaker 1: I didn't even look at the temperature, but it seemed like everybody was really suffering.
• 10:35
Speaker 1: Um, I know we had some pretty notable athletes kind of go down with some some heat exhaustion and some issues out there.
• 10:41
Speaker 1: So, uh, we were seeing them the best as well and, yeah, just kudos to everybody for being able to manage the heat.
• 10:47
Speaker 1: It seemed like it was a killer, killer year out there in the heat.
• 10:51
Speaker 1: So we're going to start off with?
• 10:52
Speaker 1: We're going to start off with the women's top 10.
• 10:55
Speaker 1: We'll get going with the female 46 K women winners.
• 11:00
Speaker 1: We're going to start with Tony McCann, who finished in four hours 52 minutes 34 seconds, followed by Claire Rhodes, not too far behind, in five hours seven minutes 19 seconds.

  Speaker 1: What a stack.
• 11:57
Speaker 1: Top 10, killer races everybody had on the men's side.
• 12:01
Speaker 1: Um, just like Tony McCann dominated in the women's field, there was just utter domination by David Sinclair in the men's field four hours one minute eight seconds for David Sinclair, beating the rest of the field by about 10 minutes.
• 12:13
Speaker 1: Um, actually a little over that Um.
• 12:15
Speaker 1: And second place was Jeff McGavro in four hours 11 minutes 39 seconds.
• 12:19
Speaker 1: The poor guy still has not broken the curse.
• 12:22
Speaker 1: I believe this is his third second place.
• 12:24
  Speaker 1: I can't, I think so.
• 12:25
Speaker 1: I think this was his third second place.
• 12:27
  Speaker 1: I can't, I think so.
• 12:27
Speaker 1: I think this was his third second place, second or third, um, I think it's his third.
• 12:29
Speaker 1: So one of these years this guy's going to win this race.
• 12:32
Speaker 1: I'm sure he's going to keep coming back until he does just so much range as well.
• 12:38
Speaker 1: Um, I know he probably touts himself as a hundred mile specialist.
• 12:40
Speaker 1: I mean this guy as well as gotten.
• 12:41
Speaker 1: He was top American last year at series and all.
• 12:43
Speaker 1: He just has so much range and I'm sure he's probably aiming this year to go back to UTMB.
• 12:48
Speaker 1: So big shout out to him.
• 12:51
Speaker 1: And third place was Mr Adam Peterman in four hours 12 minutes 31 seconds.
• 12:55
Speaker 1: Second appearance, actually third appearance of Mr Adam Peterman this year, second appearance on a very big stage.
• 13:02
Speaker 1: I know he had his first appearance of this year, coming back from injury at Canyons.
• 13:05
  Speaker 1: Yeah, great race.
• 13:07
Speaker 1: Like I said, it seemed like it was pretty tight between Jeff and Adam throughout most of the race and Jeff was able to outkick Adam in the end, getting about a minute a little bit less than a minute on him.
• 13:16
Speaker 1: In fourth place was Mr Cam Smith and four hours 21 minutes 58 seconds, also returning from injury.
• 13:21
Speaker 1: And fifth place was Gong Fu Meng in 4 hours 27 minutes 24 seconds.
• 13:27
Speaker 1: In sixth place was Mr Cole Campbell, shout out to the pride of I believe he's a Western runner from Gunnison Friend of the podcast.
• 13:37
Speaker 1: We were trying to get Cole Campbell on the podcast.
• 13:39
Speaker 1: He finished in sixth place in 4 hours 29 minutes 32 seconds, great guy.
• 13:43
Speaker 1: In seventh place was Mr Nick Handel, former podium finisher at this race, in 4 hours 36 minutes 24 seconds, great guy, um.
• 13:47
Speaker 1: And seventh place was Mr Nick Handel, um, former podium finisher at this race, in four hours 36 minutes 24 seconds.

• 14:12
Speaker 1: So big shout out to these ladies and gentlemen what an awesome race.
• 14:13
Speaker 1: This was to follow along.
• 14:14
Speaker 1: Um, man, the heat.
• 14:15
Speaker 1: The heat just seemed like it smoked everybody.
• 14:17
Speaker 1: So a big uh, you know big shout out for everybody for, uh, for kind of dealing with that and getting through.
• 14:22
Speaker 1: All right, let's get into Sunday.
• 14:25
Speaker 1: We're going to finish up broken arrow before we get to meet the minotaur.
• 14:27
Speaker 1: I figured we're going to keep these in in motion as we go, so we're going to move over to sunday.
• 14:31
Speaker 1: The one and only race that broken arrow puts on on sunday is kind of their second crown jewel besides the vk, and it's going to be the broken arrow.
• 14:38
  Speaker 1: 23k.
• 14:38
Speaker 1: This race is a world mountain running, long distance, world cup race.
• 14:42
Speaker 1: So you get points for this and, in addition, you also get points for this because it's a golden trail, national series race.
• 14:47
Speaker 1: Um, the course itself not actually 23 K, it's about 21.75 K, so it's about 13.5 miles, it's about a half marathon, so it's basically half of the 46 K, which is two loops.
• 14:58
Speaker 1: This is one loop, um, boasting about 1,433 meters of climbing, and for you Americans out there, that's 4,700 feet.
• 15:10
Speaker 1: That's a good amount of vert for 13 miles.
• 15:11
Speaker 1: It's a pretty solid race, um.
• 15:12
Speaker 1: So some stuff to talk about.
• 15:13
Speaker 1: We'll start with the females I'm going to start.
• 15:15
Speaker 1: I mean, the big discussion here is Joyce uh Nauru.
• 15:19
Speaker 1: Joyce, joyce is a killer man.
• 15:20
Speaker 1: Um, she's an absolute superstar in our sport and good for her show up and does absolutely throw down.
• 15:25
Speaker 1: It's kind of annihilate the rest of the field.
• 15:26
Speaker 1: Star in our sport and good for her to show up and just absolutely throw down.
• 15:28
Speaker 1: Just kind of annihilate the rest of the field.
• 15:29
Speaker 1: Um, and second place, we also had Jay's Jade Bellsburg.
• 15:31
Speaker 1: She has arrived on the scene.
• 15:32
Speaker 1: She was second at this race this year.
• 15:34
Speaker 1: Um, and just, I just want to like preface this If you guys ever doubt yourself or if you're one of those people that think, like I can never get better and never improve, jade Bellsburg finished 51st in this race in 2022.
• 15:48
Speaker 1: Improve, jade Bellsburg finished 51st in this race in 2022.
• 15:52
Speaker 1: Okay, and just got on the podium in second place this year in 2024.
• 15:54
Speaker 1: So, just, it's a little thing.
• 15:54
Speaker 1: Always bet on yourself, always believe in yourself.
• 15:56
Speaker 1: Um, you never know.
• 15:57
Speaker 1: You never know what your future could hold.
• 15:59
Speaker 1: So absolutely inspiring and incredible performance by Jade Bellsburg.
• 16:03
Speaker 1: Um, and in third place.
• 16:05
Speaker 1: Another absolutely inspiring result was my coach, miss Tabor Hemmering.
• 16:09
Speaker 1: Tabor, shout out to Tabor.
• 16:12

• 21:41
Speaker 1: I mean, we're talking like they got, like you know, some serious power up high only a few days.
• 21:45

• 21:50
Speaker 1: Um, for those of you who don't know, um, like I said, this is a 33 K race, so 20 something miles, 90 miles, 92,900 meters of climbing and that's about 9,512 feet of vertical.

• 22:15
Speaker 1: Now, one thing to note is a very heavy elite field toward Arc'teryx because it's an Arc'teryx sponsored event.
• 22:21
Speaker 1: So you're going to recognize a lot of international Arc'teryx names, like Elise Ponchette, henrietta Albon, emma Cook-Clark.

Speaker 1: Um, some little interesting tidbits that I found interesting here.
• 24:18
Speaker 1: Just one one little note on the women's field.
• 24:20
Speaker 1: Like, emika Clark ran 15 minutes faster in this year's win than she did in the previous year's win, which is kind of wild, finishing in four hours 52 minutes 18 seconds.
• 24:29
Speaker 1: So super stout to see a couple of the top women finishing in under five hours in this race.
• 24:35
Speaker 1: Emika Clark and Elise Ponchette were within four minutes of each other, just sneaking under the five-hour mark.
• 24:41
Speaker 1: So congrats to both those ladies, congrats to all these ladies.
• 24:45
Speaker 1: On the men's side of the field we have Mr Scott Patterson, absolute phenom.

• 25:38
Speaker 1: I believe he just knocked off the dub at the Gorge Waterfalls 100K.
• 25:44
Speaker 1: So super stout athlete, whole lot of range too.
• 25:47
Speaker 1: Pretty cool to get a top 10 at a World Sky Racing Series race and then as well do pretty well in the 100K.
• 25:54
Speaker 1: So in sixth place was Mr Morgan Elliott, pride of Colorado, in four hours 23 minutes 35 seconds.
• 26:00
Speaker 1: Uh, no doubt I would.
• 26:03
Speaker 1: We would be sitting in morgan's name in the top 10.

• 26:21
Speaker 1: And in 10th was Jesse McElvoy in four hours 35 minutes 10 seconds.
• 26:28
Speaker 1: So back on that note that I made about Scott Patterson.
• 26:31
Speaker 1: If you guys did not recognize that name, he is an Olympic cross country skier, kind of like a David Norris, kind of like a David Sinclair.
• 26:40
Speaker 1: These guys just have insanely large aerobic engines and they just come and just dominate us at this game.
• 26:50
Speaker 1: So, scott Patterson he actually competed in 2018 and 2022 Winter Olympics I don't know how I missed this name.
• 26:56
Speaker 1: He's now retired and he's at the ripe age of 32 and he is just going to come and just dominate our sport.
• 27:02
Speaker 1: So welcome Scott Patterson.
• 27:04
Speaker 1: I know he's got some older results from what I looked at a few years back from like the rut and things like that, but, yeah, just what an epic performance to come out and just, you know, just dominate the field.
• 27:14
  Speaker 1: Amazing for him.
• 27:16
Speaker 1: And in in second place not too far behind in about two minutes, was mr jackson cole.
• 27:20
Speaker 1: Shout out to my last portiva teammate again, if you haven't listened to episode four, this deep stuff podcast jackson cole.
• 27:25
Speaker 1: Um, jackson actually ran 10 minutes and 30 seconds faster this year than he did versus his win in 2023.
• 27:32
Speaker 1: So just goes to show you how much faster these races are getting now.
• 27:35
Speaker 1: Obviously, 10 minutes to minutes.
• 27:37
Speaker 1: You're looking at what our conditions like Seemed like.
• 27:40
Speaker 1: Conditions seemed pretty prime for this race.
• 27:42
Speaker 1: Didn't seem too hot.
• 27:44
Speaker 1: Yeah, so I'd say those are the storylines for what actually went down to meet the Minotaur.
• 27:49
Speaker 1: What an amazing race.
• 27:50
Speaker 1: I cannot wait to preview this race again next year.
• 27:52
Speaker 1: I might actually even be there next year to go race this race, just because, like, have you guys seen this course?
• 27:57
  Speaker 1: Just absolutely insane.
• 27:59
Speaker 1: Go hop on instagram and give them a follow.
• 28:01
Speaker 1: Like, meet the minotaurs got a very special race.
• 28:03
Speaker 1: Um, that they're pushing so pretty cool.
• 28:06
Speaker 1: Uh, big shout out to them, and then we also.
• 28:09
Speaker 1: So this is the first weekend of the year that we've had two uh races on the international sky racing world series.
• 28:15
Speaker 1: Uh happened in the same weekend, so so on Saturday we had Mitha Minotaur, on the 22nd and on Sunday, 6-23, we had Sky Race du Mercantour.
• 28:25
  Speaker 1: It's a French race.
• 28:26
Speaker 1: It takes place in Saint-Martin-Vesible, france, a 30K race with about 2,150 meters of climbing, so it's about 7,053 feet.
• 28:36
  Speaker 1: So pretty dope.
• 28:37
Speaker 1: So 30K, so looking around, 20 miles with about 7K feet of climbing, no joke.
• 28:43
Speaker 1: We'll start with the women's field.
• 28:44
Speaker 1: We're not going to go too deep into this.
• 28:46
Speaker 1: Just because it was a very international field, less Americans showed up.
• 28:49
Speaker 1: Actually, I don't think any Americans showed up, so we're going to kind of just gloss into this.
• 28:54
Speaker 1: You know, just highlight the podium, talk about some of the winners there, and then we're going to kind of just gloss into this.
• 28:57
Speaker 1: You know, just highlight the podium, talk about some of the winners there, and then we're going to kind of get into what's happening next week.
• 29:01
Speaker 1: So in first place on the women's side was Eri Finesse three hours 13 minutes 40 seconds, and second place was Nari Irguin.
• 29:11
Speaker 1: She was a Solomon runner in three hours 18 minutes six seconds.
• 29:14
Speaker 1: And then finally we have the pride of Great Britain, hollywood, in 3 hours 23 minutes 51 seconds.
• 29:21
Speaker 1: In the men's side we actually had first place Mr Alan Santana Blanco Actually, I'm sorry, Alan Santa Maria Blanco, solomon Runner in two hours 38 minutes 19 seconds.
• 29:34
Speaker 1: In second place we had a fan favorite, mr Rui Udia, in two hours 39 seconds, two hours 39 minutes 27 seconds.
• 29:44
Speaker 1: You guys might recognize that name from the Golden Trail World Series.
• 29:46
  Speaker 1: I believe he's run Pike's Peak before.
• 29:49
Speaker 1: I could be wrong.
• 29:50
Speaker 1: I do recognize that name.
• 29:51
Speaker 1: In third place was Lorenzo Beltrami, in two hours 41 minutes 38 seconds, and he's on the Scarpa team.
• 29:58
Speaker 1: So we're just going to kind of get through that pretty quickly.
• 30:01
Speaker 1: Um, if you guys have any notes or anything to ask or want more information on this race.
• 30:04
Speaker 1: Um, hop on to the sky racing world series.
• 30:07
Speaker 1: Sky running world series.
• 30:08
Speaker 1: Uh, you can kind of learn a little bit more.
• 30:10
Speaker 1: Um, so that's all the news that happened this past weekend.
• 30:14
Speaker 1: I'm going to do a little home cooking because I'm excited, because I'm going to be finally be toeing the line this week on this upcoming weekend.
• 30:21
Speaker 1: I think I don't know other than Western States we can kind of get into that after other than Western States I think this is another.
• 30:28
Speaker 1: Well, western States is obviously like the most well, one of the most well-known races in the world.
• 30:34
Speaker 1: Um, but on the sub ultra scene, I'd say Cirque series Brighton happening this weekend and I really don't have too many other races popping off.
• 30:41
Speaker 1: So that's that's kind of the news I've got.
• 30:43
Speaker 1: So, cirque series Brighton I'm pretty excited about, cause I'll be towing the line there while home cooking, cause I'm pretty psyched to be there.
• 30:50
Speaker 1: Um, if you guys don't aren there, if you guys aren't familiar with the Cirque series, they are sub-ultra like kind of a mountain classic.
• 30:57
Speaker 1: And if you guys are unfamiliar with the mountain classic, it's kind of a 9K to 12 or 11K distance with high vertical.
• 31:02
Speaker 1: It's usually an up-down kind of race or multiple ups and downs.
• 31:06
Speaker 1: In this case, this is a very multiple up and down race.
• 31:09
Speaker 1: Take a place in Brighton If you guys are unfamiliar with Brighton ski resort in Utah, super excited to go to this race.
• 31:14
Speaker 1: This one in particular is going to be 6.7 miles, 3,115 feet of vertical.
• 31:20
Speaker 1: I'd say it's probably the second most technical race out of the entire Cirque series.
• 31:24
Speaker 1: A lot of snow on this course.
• 31:26
Speaker 1: I've just been doing some previews and talking to some people that have that have looked at the course in the past couple of days and have said that there's quite a few snow fields, so I'm looking forward to playing in the snow again.
• 31:37
Speaker 1: Other than that, yeah, pretty technical.
• 31:40
Speaker 1: There's a beautiful boulder field that you got to climb that goes straight up to Mount Mellicent and then you kind of just like crest around this beautiful Wolverine Cirque with some of these beautiful alpine lakes, kind of down in the Cirque self and then, once you're done, you got to smoke and downhill and there's a big party at the end.
• 31:57
Speaker 1: So this is kind of uh, some of the purest, most fun form of sub ultra that we've gotten.
• 32:02
Speaker 1: Gotten the game so pretty exciting.
• 32:05
Speaker 1: Um, some notable names that are going to be showing up to this race.
• 32:07
Speaker 1: On the female side Um, I don't know if anybody knows this, but Grayson Murphy is on the start list for this race.
• 32:14
Speaker 1: I've gotten mixed speculation because I have talked to her to see if she's going to be showing up and it's going to be kind of a game time decision.
• 32:20
Speaker 1: So Grayson Murphy is on the start list as well as Giselle Slotboom, who's a very well-known name, races the Cirque series every year Absolute killer.
• 32:31
Speaker 1: I think she raced some, I think kobe race for the golden trail world series this year.
• 32:37
  Speaker 1: Um.
• 32:37
  Speaker 1: And third, um.
• 32:39
Speaker 1: Third most notable name is going to be ray coble.
• 32:41
Speaker 1: Um, pride of colorado.
• 32:43
Speaker 1: Um dina fit athlete, super solid ray um actually just spent um a good portion of the you know like the last like six to eight months over in Europe.
• 32:53
Speaker 1: Um skiing, um kind of preparing or really, you know like sharpening those schema legs and doing a lot of schema races.
• 33:00
Speaker 1: So big shout out to her.
• 33:01
Speaker 1: I'm excited to have her on the podcast.
• 33:03
  Speaker 1: Actually so cool.
• 33:04
