- 0:04Speaker 1: Hi, everybody, Welcome into the Irish Hitters podcast. Michael McCree here,
- 0:07Speaker 1: delighted to be joined with a guide that we all
- 0:10Speaker 1: know very very well from TV in Ireland in the
- 0:12Speaker 1: UK before I bring him in. We are here in Newey.
- 0:16Speaker 1: We're actually a pub called the Brass Monkey in Newry.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Newee is actually if you're not aware of folks, if
- 0:21Speaker 1: you're a Staters fun or an NFL fan, it's the
- 0:23Speaker 1: ancestral home of the Pittsburgh Steeters. So it's pretty special
- 0:27Speaker 1: to have a little podcast here for the first time,
- 0:29Speaker 1: I believe from Newey and delighted to be joined by
- 0:31Speaker 1: a guy from SkySports NFL, among many other things, a
- 0:34Speaker 1: guy that you'll see on your TV this Saturday night
- 0:37Speaker 1: for the Steelers Ravens game, Jeff Ryan Will Jeff Falter.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Welcome to Newey.
- 0:42Speaker 2: I appreciate that. Michael. How are you doing?
- 0:45Speaker 3: Do an outstanding We've had a great I guess this
- 0:47Speaker 3: is a fifth show we've done around Island, Ireland in
- 0:49Speaker 3: the last two weeks and it's been great reception and great,
- 0:53Speaker 3: as you say, great crack.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Every place we've been.
- 0:55Speaker 1: We've seen a number of Staeters on seat. We were
- 0:57Speaker 1: actually in trone last night, and we've seen actually Davo
- 1:00Speaker 1: from the podcast as there shout out to him. He
- 1:01Speaker 1: doesn't live too far from there. But I've seen four
- 1:03Speaker 1: or five Stuitters fans of Hiloso Feydas, some guys with
- 1:06Speaker 1: like Troy, Paulamali, Jerseys, Ratro guys as well.
- 1:09Speaker 2: There seems to be a real buzz.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Around the Stears fans of the moment on you know,
- 1:13Speaker 1: just first off, Jeff, you're sitting here behind the Terrible Tale,
- 1:16Speaker 1: You're very, very passionate about the passion of the passion
- 1:19Speaker 1: of these Steeters fans. Bring.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:21Speaker 3: You know, Michael, I grew up in a time when
- 1:24Speaker 3: you know, it was Chuck Noll and Terry Bradshaw and
- 1:28Speaker 3: frank O Harris and Rocky Bayer, and you know, it
- 1:31Speaker 3: was amazing time to be a football fan. And while
- 1:34Speaker 3: I wasn't a Steelers fan per se, you certainly had
- 1:37Speaker 3: great respect for the organization, for the passion of the
- 1:40Speaker 3: Steeler fans. And you know what they've been able to
- 1:44Speaker 3: accomplish as an organization, the consistency, the continuous winning. You know,
- 1:50Speaker 3: Mike Tomlin is the only head coach that I've ever
- 1:53Speaker 3: seen in the National Football League that has.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Never had a losing season.
- 1:56Speaker 3: I mean, that's that's incredible and a credit to not
- 1:59Speaker 3: only the Mic and his players, but to the organization.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Talking about the Staters and talking about the Rooney family
- 2:05Speaker 1: and obviously they left this part of the island many
- 2:10Speaker 1: many years ago now, but the Steeters to this stage
- 2:14Speaker 1: have have looked back upon and continue to look upon
- 2:16Speaker 1: Newry in such a positive light. And we've seen they've
- 2:20Speaker 1: stopped off and many visits to Neuri. They've done a
- 2:22Speaker 1: clinic actually in Park Gazer, which is the home of
- 2:24Speaker 1: County don Ga in recent months. When you obviously look,
- 2:28Speaker 1: this is your first time in Newiey today, you have
- 2:30Speaker 1: me here before, But when you drive through like a
- 2:32Speaker 1: little time, does it surprise you that's somewhere so far
- 2:35Speaker 1: away can have such an impact on not just the
- 2:37Speaker 1: Steters but the league overall.
- 2:38Speaker 3: No, I not really, Michael, because particularly between the Rooney
- 2:43Speaker 3: family and this island, there are such a deep, long
- 2:49Speaker 3: term relationship. And we have a saying in America that
- 2:52Speaker 3: everybody's a little Irish, and that's certainly true when it
- 2:56Speaker 3: comes to the Steeler fans. And you know, I think
- 2:59Speaker 3: that one of the things that the Steeler fans and
- 3:03Speaker 3: I saw the eight hundred people come to a Steelers
- 3:07Speaker 3: watch party and just the passion and all of a
- 3:10Speaker 3: sudden they start waiving those terrible toils and you don't know,
- 3:13Speaker 3: you know, whether you're in Three Rivers Stadium or whether
- 3:16Speaker 3: you're in you know, whether you're in in you know, Ireland.
- 3:21Speaker 3: It's it was phenomenal the reception that you know, the
- 3:24Speaker 3: Steelers watch party got. And you know, they the Steelers
- 3:28Speaker 3: have invested in this island, They've got a presence on
- 3:31Speaker 3: this island. And you know, one of the greatest players,
- 3:35Speaker 3: you know, Woodson came came here and did a series
- 3:37Speaker 3: of clinics.
- 3:38Speaker 2: He's worked to help grow the game in Ireland.
- 3:40Speaker 3: You've done an amazing job with Pro Football Ireland and
- 3:43Speaker 3: that you know, association with the Steelers is certainly really
- 3:48Speaker 3: really runs deep here in Ireland.
- 3:49Speaker 1: It's great to see what they're doing in Ireland. I
- 3:51Speaker 1: think for me it really hit home when we had
- 3:52Speaker 1: Thattnican Park Hasler, and of course it hit home when
- 3:55Speaker 1: you've seen guys like Alan Faneca and Antonio Owns among
- 3:58Speaker 1: others in the last two years and and you're you're
- 4:01Speaker 1: buying all the money they are standing up at one
- 4:02Speaker 1: hundred people. There's so many Steeters fans in Ireland that
- 4:05Speaker 1: I think the exciting thing for me Ejef as a
- 4:06Speaker 1: fan of the NFL first and foremost is seeing that
- 4:09Speaker 1: next generation of fans come through. And this is why
- 4:12Speaker 1: I wanted to bring this up. You know, you obviously
- 4:13Speaker 1: have a for people that aren't aware. You're not just
- 4:15Speaker 1: a guy who's been on TV with Sky Sports. You've
- 4:17Speaker 1: a deep history with NFL International and the old NFL.
- 4:21Speaker 1: You're a league. And you know, if somebody hadn't told
- 4:24Speaker 1: you in the year two thousand when you had a
- 4:26Speaker 1: had an office in London, that's the Steelers will have
- 4:30Speaker 1: like an activation, like a like a party in crow
- 4:32Speaker 1: Park and different things that got there. It's really grown
- 4:34Speaker 1: to a point where anything's really possible.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it is.
- 4:38Speaker 3: And you know, you see that there is sentiment amongst
- 4:43Speaker 3: people in the front office in New York and certainly
- 4:46Speaker 3: the front office in Pittsburgh to continue to grow the
- 4:49Speaker 3: game internationally. And I think, you know, I guess we
- 4:53Speaker 3: can all dream, but certainly I think one of the
- 4:55Speaker 3: one of the big dreams that we have for this
- 4:59Speaker 3: island is one day, see whether it would be at
- 5:02Speaker 3: Aviva or Croke Parker wherever. See those black helmets and
- 5:06Speaker 3: you know, come on in the field and let you
- 5:08Speaker 3: know the eighty thousand people waving terrible towels, and I
- 5:12Speaker 3: think that would just be I might get emotional and
- 5:16Speaker 3: break down and cry, just to be honest with you.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Yeah, hopefully at some point in the future will happen,
- 5:21Speaker 1: and the time will tell over the next few years
- 5:23Speaker 1: and whenever it happens, if it's in the year, if
- 5:25Speaker 1: it is in fifteen years, it'll be pretty cool to
- 5:27Speaker 1: see in that sense. And I know a lot of
- 5:30Speaker 1: the Rooney family will look done, smile, and especially Don Runey,
- 5:34Speaker 1: who was the former embossador to the island as well,
- 5:37Speaker 1: first to visit all thirty two counties, including the one
- 5:39Speaker 1: that you're in right now as you have. So it's
- 5:40Speaker 1: pretty cool to see, you know.
- 5:42Speaker 3: That is and I think that the thing, the investment
- 5:45Speaker 3: that the Steelers have made in this is this country
- 5:48Speaker 3: is really kind of the blueprint, if you will, for
- 5:51Speaker 3: what teams can get done in their forum marketplace. And
- 5:58Speaker 3: I don't see any time soon that that's going to
- 6:01Speaker 3: change and go the other way. I think it's just
- 6:03Speaker 3: going to continue to grow and be enhanced by the
- 6:06Speaker 3: Steeler presence on the island. And you know, every time
- 6:09Speaker 3: you guys do a function, every time a podcast is made,
- 6:13Speaker 3: every time you know somebody waves that, you know that
- 6:17Speaker 3: yellow towel, it's it's you know, just builds the bond
- 6:21Speaker 3: much stronger between Ireland and the Steelers.
- 6:23Speaker 1: We've had a chance, Jeff, to see a lot of
- 6:25Speaker 1: different Staters games the sky Sports this season and one
- 6:28Speaker 1: that wasn't onne last weekend, but I do want to
- 6:29Speaker 1: recap on it for the podcast very quickly, Jeff. Is
- 6:32Speaker 1: the game between that Eagles team on the Steels last weekend.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Steelers didn't go out on top on the day and
- 6:38Speaker 1: actually fall the ten and four in the season. But
- 6:41Speaker 1: we'll talk about the important stretch that they now face,
- 6:43Speaker 1: not just this week but a short week in Christmas. Look,
- 6:47Speaker 1: Staeters fans, the organization of know one from the gat
- 6:49Speaker 1: go this year that they would have a late AFC
- 6:52Speaker 1: RF timetable, they would have a lith finish, a difficult
- 6:54Speaker 1: finish of this season. You know, there's no surprise there
- 6:58Speaker 1: in not sense, but obviously it Took's alwaysappointing when you
- 7:00Speaker 1: don't win. They weren't too far off last week. It
- 7:03Speaker 1: just it just didn't seem like an edge off against
- 7:05Speaker 1: the Eagles.
- 7:05Speaker 3: Well, the Eagles are a good football team. I mean,
- 7:07Speaker 3: there's no mistake there. And Philadelphia historically has been a
- 7:11Speaker 3: hard place for.
- 7:11Speaker 2: The Steelers to win.
- 7:12Speaker 3: I think it's nineteen sixty five was the last time
- 7:14Speaker 3: they've won their So, you know, I was really interested
- 7:17Speaker 3: at Mike Tomlin's reaction post game. I think he's very
- 7:21Speaker 3: much understands that it was just one game.
- 7:23Speaker 2: It doesn't define you.
- 7:24Speaker 3: It doesn't dictate how the rest of these games are
- 7:27Speaker 3: going to come. They know they have to get ready
- 7:29Speaker 3: to play again this Sunday. And you know, the greatest
- 7:34Speaker 3: thing that I think Mike Tomlin has been able to
- 7:36Speaker 3: do in his history with the Steelers, and this is
- 7:39Speaker 3: very difficult to do in pro football, in the National
- 7:41Speaker 3: Football League because the message can get stale. But he
- 7:44Speaker 3: keeps his message fresh. You know, you watch him coach
- 7:47Speaker 3: his team, you watch him talk to his team. They
- 7:49Speaker 3: will be ready to play, they don't. You know, you
- 7:52Speaker 3: don't have to worry about that. The Steelers will be
- 7:54Speaker 3: ready to play every week. But from now and through
- 7:57Speaker 3: however long they play in the playoff, hopefully through the
- 8:00Speaker 3: Super Bowl Saturday.
- 8:02Speaker 2: On Saturday.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Here we go Saturday night. Here's the rented plans some day,
- 8:05Speaker 1: hopefully rented plans Saturday, and I'm sure it will Saturday.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Hoffman Sky Sports excited the break out game done.
- 8:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I am, because I you know, I love to
- 8:12Speaker 3: watch them. They've They've been a favorite of mine for
- 8:14Speaker 3: a long time. You know, all the way back to
- 8:16Speaker 3: the Dick Lebo days and when he was running all
- 8:19Speaker 3: the zone blitzes and they were so far ahead of
- 8:22Speaker 3: the curve in terms of what they did structurally on defense.
- 8:25Speaker 3: And now with Russell, you see, you know, their offense
- 8:29Speaker 3: has now started to show itself and now they struggle
- 8:32Speaker 3: a little bit last week, but you know, everybody's gonna
- 8:35Speaker 3: have one of those or two of those during the
- 8:37Speaker 3: course of the season. I think this is an opportunity
- 8:40Speaker 3: for him this week to bounce back and you know,
- 8:43Speaker 3: put more good you know, just put more good tape
- 8:46Speaker 3: out there. And that's what you try and do every week.
- 8:49Speaker 3: And in the league that's really competitive and it's really
- 8:52Speaker 3: hard to.
- 8:52Speaker 2: Wear it win every week.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Just before we look at the Eagles that are the
- 8:57Speaker 1: we even sorry Jeff of a couple of things that
- 8:58Speaker 1: the woman ask you. But you're a special teams guy,
- 9:02Speaker 1: you know what it's like and how hard it is
- 9:03Speaker 1: to have a good special teams know how impressed that
- 9:06Speaker 1: you've bet him Chris ballsball this season before.
- 9:08Speaker 3: Well, you know it's here's the thing too, that you
- 9:10Speaker 3: got to understand. Pittsburgh is not an easy place to kick.
- 9:13Speaker 3: It's it's traditionally has a reputation is one of the toughest,
- 9:18Speaker 3: you know, toughest environments to kick in because of the win,
- 9:21Speaker 3: because of the cold, you're right on the water, all
- 9:23Speaker 3: that stuff, and Boswell just seems to be able to
- 9:26Speaker 3: work you know through those things. Those things are just
- 9:30Speaker 3: you know, distractions to him. I think Danny Smith, the
- 9:33Speaker 3: special teams coach that the Steelers, has done an absolutely
- 9:36Speaker 3: fantastic job. Now he is really at one of the
- 9:39Speaker 3: NFL's great characters. And uh, you know, he reminds me
- 9:43Speaker 3: of you know, I'm gonna say something. I take that
- 9:45Speaker 3: as a compliment because Danny Smith is truly one of
- 9:48Speaker 3: the best football coaches you know, that I've ever been around.
- 9:51Speaker 3: And his ability to motivate and this is difficult, right
- 9:55Speaker 3: because you've got to remember, special teams is not what
- 9:59Speaker 3: these guys do find themselves as I mean, on their
- 10:01Speaker 3: football guard. It doesn't say I'm the left guard on
- 10:04Speaker 3: the punt team. It says I'm a linebacker or tight
- 10:07Speaker 3: end or whatever. And so you know, he's able to
- 10:10Speaker 3: create an environment and an identity inside that football team
- 10:15Speaker 3: and you watch how they take pride in their special
- 10:18Speaker 3: teams plays and it's been those have been, you know,
- 10:21Speaker 3: some plays that have turned the season for the Steelers.
- 10:24Speaker 1: You mentioned coach Tumlar earlier on. He was not scared
- 10:28Speaker 1: or not. You know, you didn't have any shape of
- 10:30Speaker 1: changing the quarterback there whenever Rosse was s fith. I impressed,
- 10:33Speaker 1: not just with Russell Wilson coming in, but also really
- 10:36Speaker 1: the decision making of Mike Tomlin to sort of put
- 10:38Speaker 1: the team first and the what's right in that moment.
- 10:40Speaker 3: Well, you know, obviously he's he's done it for an
- 10:42Speaker 3: awful long long time and had tremendous success.
- 10:45Speaker 2: He has a great pulse on people.
- 10:48Speaker 3: That's one of the things that I think defines Mike
- 10:50Speaker 3: is that he is very much, you know, tuned in
- 10:53Speaker 3: to his players to where they're at. And you know,
- 10:56Speaker 3: both individually and collectively as a football team. So I
- 10:59Speaker 3: was I'm not surprised that, you know, he made that decision.
- 11:03Speaker 3: I think it was the right decision. It's been proven
- 11:05Speaker 3: that now over time that it's the right it's the
- 11:07Speaker 3: right decision, and he handled it I thought, really, really
- 11:10Speaker 3: well because dealing with the quarterback position and dealing with
- 11:14Speaker 3: your quarterback room that is the highest profile room on
- 11:18Speaker 3: your football team, and how you handle that sends a
- 11:21Speaker 3: message to the entire team. And again, Mike is In
- 11:25Speaker 3: is a master at making sure that he controls the
- 11:29Speaker 3: narrative and he sends the message that what that he
- 11:31Speaker 3: wants to send not only to the media, but also
- 11:35Speaker 3: to his own football team.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Do you feel like coming into I will talk with
- 11:39Speaker 1: his Ravens given to we second. But when you got
- 11:40Speaker 1: the Ravens and you got the Chiefs and you're finishing
- 11:42Speaker 1: off that season in short weeks, do you feel like
- 11:44Speaker 1: this team from what you've seen over the last few
- 11:46Speaker 1: weeks isn't a good position to You'll see that out
- 11:48Speaker 1: and get the best position possible.
- 11:50Speaker 3: Well, Mike, you know again, I think one of the
- 11:52Speaker 3: things that things of fans, and stupid fans in particular,
- 11:56Speaker 3: have to feel good about going into the playoffs, is
- 11:58Speaker 3: you know football chain when you get to the playoffs, right,
- 12:01Speaker 3: I mean, it's just the way it is. You know,
- 12:04Speaker 3: we talk about all the time and coaching about there's
- 12:06Speaker 3: three speeds of a season.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Right. You got preseason speed.
- 12:09Speaker 3: Right, and then you got game you know, then you
- 12:11Speaker 3: got regular season speed, and then you got playoff speed.
- 12:14Speaker 3: And playoff speed is much faster, it's much more violent.
- 12:17Speaker 3: It's the games typically tend to be much closer. Now,
- 12:21Speaker 3: sometimes a wildcard game can get you know, can get
- 12:24Speaker 3: a lot of hand, but usually those games are very close.
- 12:28Speaker 3: And how do you win close games? You win them
- 12:30Speaker 3: on defense. And I think the Steelers that's always been
- 12:33Speaker 3: a hallmark of the Steelers. And you don't turn the
- 12:35Speaker 3: ball over and play great complimentary football offense, defense, and
- 12:39Speaker 3: special teams. And that sounds kind of like coach speak,
- 12:41Speaker 3: but it's really true. In the playoffs, that's the way
- 12:45Speaker 3: you win football games. You think about it, Mike, there
- 12:48Speaker 3: have been a lot of different teams that won Super Bowls,
- 12:50Speaker 3: but very few teams have won Super Bowls without having
- 12:52Speaker 3: a very good defense.
- 12:54Speaker 1: And you mentioned a number of guys for people on
- 12:57Speaker 1: joing have actually been on the road for a few
- 12:58Speaker 1: days of jaff here and very high up on her
- 13:01Speaker 1: big last night as well. It's being really some SONI
- 13:03Speaker 1: guys on that defense. You know TJ is always going
- 13:06Speaker 1: to be up there for Defensive Player of the Year.
- 13:07Speaker 1: But do you think Haasaksal this year to be an
- 13:10Speaker 1: opposition or he'd at least being a talk towards the
- 13:12Speaker 1: end of these last few weeks.
- 13:13Speaker 3: I don't. I don't think there's any question. You know,
- 13:15Speaker 3: the league is filled now with outstanding edge rushers. You
- 13:19Speaker 3: know the Bosa brothers, you got the two guys in
- 13:21Speaker 3: with the Texans that are having an outstanding year, and
- 13:24Speaker 3: Will Anderson and Daniel Hunter. But when you look at
- 13:29Speaker 3: consistency over time, and that's to me how you measure greatness.
- 13:32Speaker 3: It's consistency over time. It's not just one flash season.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Who you know, TJ.
- 13:37Speaker 3: Watt has been one of the most consistent, one of
- 13:41Speaker 3: the most dynamic edge pass rushers ever. And it's funny.
- 13:45Speaker 3: I remember going to watch him play his senior year.
- 13:48Speaker 3: I watched the Wisconsin came to Purdue and I went
- 13:52Speaker 3: and watched the game, and during that game it was
- 13:56Speaker 3: a close game, and all of a sudden, he rushes
- 13:58Speaker 3: the passer and sticks his hands up in the air
- 14:01Speaker 3: and tips the ball to himself and scores about a
- 14:05Speaker 3: forty yard touchdown to break the game open. And that's
- 14:07Speaker 3: the kind of thing that he's been able to do.
- 14:10Speaker 3: There's nobody in the league who's better at, you know,
- 14:14Speaker 3: not only attacking the quarterback, but attacking the ball as
- 14:17Speaker 3: you attack the quarterback.
- 14:18Speaker 2: He's the master of the strips at.
- 14:21Speaker 1: And her big guys would know you quite well, Jaffter.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Hawaii kids. Have you been able to see much of
- 14:26Speaker 1: them as they grow up? And have you I impressed
- 14:28Speaker 1: to be Have you been from this Well.
- 14:29Speaker 3: Those young guys come from the island of Kawai, which
- 14:33Speaker 3: is where my brother lives, and so they are obviously
- 14:36Speaker 3: legends on that island. But you know, I think that
- 14:40Speaker 3: it's really amazing. You know, you talk about kind of
- 14:43Speaker 3: different things. There's two guys from the same family and
- 14:47Speaker 3: a small little actually one of the smallest islands in
- 14:50Speaker 3: the Hawaiian chain, are playing for the same team in
- 14:53Speaker 3: pro football. And you see the same same thing with
- 14:56Speaker 3: the Hayward brothers. And how many times have you ever
- 14:58Speaker 3: and the Watt brothers, So how many many times have
- 15:01Speaker 3: you ever seen that. First of all, it's so hard
- 15:03Speaker 3: to get to the National Football League, but to have
- 15:05Speaker 3: two boys from the same home and the same parents
- 15:09Speaker 3: playing in the league and sets of brothers, multiple sets
- 15:12Speaker 3: of brothers for an organization, I think it's, you know,
- 15:15Speaker 3: really a cool story. And you know, the Steelers are
- 15:18Speaker 3: kind of a throwback, you know, they're kind of.
- 15:21Speaker 2: A little bit. Is they consistent over Yeah, there've.
- 15:23Speaker 3: Been obviously consistently one and they've been consistent in their
- 15:27Speaker 3: organization and they don't change coaches every week. And you know,
- 15:31Speaker 3: but I think one of the things they're they're very
- 15:35Speaker 3: and I don't want to say traditional, but I think
- 15:37Speaker 3: they value things at a different rate in a different
- 15:40Speaker 3: way than certain other teams do. And that sense of
- 15:45Speaker 3: family and that sense of you know, once you're a Steeler,
- 15:50Speaker 3: you're always a Steeler.
- 15:52Speaker 2: You know.
- 15:52Speaker 3: You see that when we go do the Super Bowl Mic.
- 15:54Speaker 2: I think it's really you really do see that sense
- 15:58Speaker 2: of in being a part of the Pittsburgh Steelers organization.
- 16:03Speaker 1: And just a couple of ones to finish off here,
- 16:05Speaker 1: jeft this we haven't seen this weekend, a shorter week
- 16:08Speaker 1: for both teams, having a day asks the prep game,
- 16:11Speaker 1: obviously coming in to Baltimore a road game, and I
- 16:14Speaker 1: have seen North matchup. It's always difficult in terms of
- 16:16Speaker 1: a Staeters point of view, What are your keys to
- 16:19Speaker 1: the game for both just for both stats obviously offense
- 16:21Speaker 1: defense here to try and really pull off a big win.
- 16:23Speaker 3: Well, I think the first thing is they got to
- 16:25Speaker 3: continue their you know, their domination if you will, of
- 16:28Speaker 3: Lamar Jackson, because the team that he has been his
- 16:32Speaker 3: kryptonite has been the Pittsburgh Steelers, and they need to
- 16:36Speaker 3: continue that. I think they've got to do a great
- 16:38Speaker 3: job up front of winning on first and second down
- 16:42Speaker 3: and making Lamar navigate third and long because that's not
- 16:46Speaker 3: his strength. If they can get you in third and
- 16:49Speaker 3: three where he you know, he can use his feet
- 16:52Speaker 3: to get a first down, he can throw it to
- 16:53Speaker 3: get a first down, or he can turn around handed
- 16:55Speaker 3: to Derek Henry for first down.
- 16:57Speaker 2: That's when it's tough.
- 16:58Speaker 3: These matchups between the Steelers and the Ravens have for
- 17:02Speaker 3: the last thirty years tough ben physical, physical games. These
- 17:07Speaker 3: two teams take pride in their ability to be physical,
- 17:11Speaker 3: and you know this will be an outstanding hitting game.
- 17:15Speaker 2: There's no question about it. In my mind.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Yeah, and look, it's really really important. We've got a
- 17:20Speaker 1: big game coming up against the Kansas City Chiefs on
- 17:22Speaker 1: wet and say on Christmas Day, I'm going to be there, Jeff.
- 17:24Speaker 1: So if for everyone listening to the podcast, really really
- 17:26Speaker 1: excited to get the Pittsburgh and you appreciate the opportunity
- 17:28Speaker 1: to go out there for such a big game is
- 17:31Speaker 1: an honor, It really really is. And I know we'll
- 17:34Speaker 1: we'll hear and see you guys in sky Sports NFL
- 17:36Speaker 1: this Saturday night.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Really looking forward to it.
- 17:38Speaker 1: The game is also on OTV Sports radio across Ireland
- 17:41Speaker 1: if you'd like to listen to the Steelers TV or
- 17:44Speaker 1: Staters Radio Cruse Sorry break down the game, Jeff, And
- 17:48Speaker 1: whenever the leaders had a press conference park a couple
- 17:51Speaker 1: of years ago, they have and they continue to reiterate
- 17:53Speaker 1: that they would love to explore the idea of playing
- 17:56Speaker 1: a game in Ireland in the future. You touched on
- 17:59Speaker 1: it a little bit there, but as as an NFL
- 18:01Speaker 1: found never remained the coaches. Somebody has in ghost and football.
- 18:03Speaker 1: How important do you think it would be to see
- 18:05Speaker 1: and football come home?
- 18:07Speaker 3: Well, I think you know, for the let's talk about
- 18:11Speaker 3: Ireland first. For the Irish fans and for the Steeler fans,
- 18:16Speaker 3: the thousands and thousands of Steeler fans that there are
- 18:19Speaker 3: on this island. To have the Pittsburgh Steelers here would
- 18:24Speaker 3: be a dream come try. Actually would be more than that,
- 18:27Speaker 3: because I'm sure five years ago they would have never
- 18:30Speaker 3: thought that they would have an see their team Now.
- 18:34Speaker 3: Then you factor in also that the Rooney family and
- 18:39Speaker 3: the Steelers have invested so much in this island. I
- 18:42Speaker 3: think it would be another step in their growth here
- 18:47Speaker 3: in the island, and for football in general, it is
- 18:50Speaker 3: huge because you know, when that game comes to town,
- 18:53Speaker 3: and when those international games come to town. We've seen
- 18:56Speaker 3: them in Germany, we've seen them in England. You know,
- 19:00Speaker 3: not only is an incredible boost for the local economy,
- 19:03Speaker 3: but it is a tremendous boost for football in that environment.
- 19:08Speaker 1: It's it's exciting and whatever it happens is said it'll
- 19:11Speaker 1: be it'll be amazing. And I think you imagined earlier
- 19:14Speaker 1: on there is no story, there is no relationship deeper
- 19:18Speaker 1: than this in the league, which is pretty cool, and
- 19:19Speaker 1: it's look, it's an our hobby here in near You
- 19:21Speaker 1: just sort of break it down a little bit. Jeff
- 19:22Speaker 1: we got the terrible titles in the background. We appreciate it,
- 19:25Speaker 1: appreciate everything, and for people listening, Jeff is done an
- 19:28Speaker 1: awful lot for the game Internationally, we obviously appreciate you
- 19:33Speaker 1: and hopefully I'm sure we can talk maybe at the
- 19:35Speaker 1: Super Bowl Jeff about this team's chances when ended a game.
- 19:38Speaker 1: But for no Jeff is obviously a really, really important
- 19:41Speaker 1: few weeks. Looking forward to seeing how the Steelers teams plays,
- 19:45Speaker 1: and I hope everybody enjoys the game of this Saturday.
- 19:47Speaker 1: We're gonna have a little podcast at some point next
- 19:48Speaker 1: week breaking down the game of Christmas when I'm in Pittsburgh.
- 19:51Speaker 1: But for Jeffrey Ronbold, as I say, a meeting me
- 19:54Speaker 1: and my other thank you very much, my mom. I'm
- 19:56Speaker 1: appreciate joining us on the ur STUITI this podcast.
- 19:58Speaker 2: I appreciate it, Michael and almost it. Like I said,
- 20:00Speaker 2: in Pittsburgh, gold stillers
