- 0:50Defense 12th in the country in total defense.
- 0:53Fewer than 300 yards allowed per game.
- 0:56Drones takes a deep shot looking for Take One Belton.
- 1:00For a touchdown. 54 yards. This one's not contested because
- 1:11he just uses his speed, just runs a straight goal out, and
- 1:15then it is a beautiful ball by Kyron.
- 1:18Drones couldn't hand it to him any better, and Virginia Tech is
- 1:22off to a good start. And welcome back to Deep
- 1:26Boundary Corner Podcast with my partners, Brian Sigler.
- 1:29Jonathan, Tally and Shelton Malls, I'm Curtis Wilson.
- 1:32In this episode is brought to you by Doctor Jeremy Counts down
- 1:35at the Main Street Pharmacy in Blacksburg.
- 1:37Your friendly neighborhood pharmacy located at 301 S Main
- 1:41St. in it right here at the top. We we had a show that because we
- 1:45ain't had much to curl about in the first quarter of many games
- 1:48this year. But first possession, what third
- 1:51play of the game, a bomb happens.
- 1:54Didn't see that one coming up. Top.
- 1:57I will take it. All day long.
- 2:01We we hadn't seen a lot of deep stuff in a in a few games there,
- 2:04so it's nice to see us hit that big one, really get off to a
- 2:09good start, put their backs against the wall a little bit.
- 2:14It always likes to do that at home when you got the crowd
- 2:16behind you. Well, after after taking them
- 2:19three and out and doing that, it was just like that the the
- 2:22crowd, which was already just absolutely insane on the
- 2:26whiteout Saturday night. Just took it to another level.
- 2:30The place was never quiet so we got a lot to talk about on a
- 2:343821. It is a tell the truth Tuesday.
- 2:37We're going to tell a lot of good truths tonight.
- 2:38Not a lot of the and some bads but mostly good.
- 2:42But you know want to tell real quick rally to Robbie this week
- 2:45not at home. Check out the pharmacy. 7 bucks
- 2:48at Venmo got with Grayson. They will be back in a Lot 1
- 2:51next week for the Homecoming Wake Forest game.
- 2:53So check that out. And before we get into the big
- 2:57stuff, let's talk about the commit.
- 2:59Did y'all see the basketball commit yesterday?
- 3:03It. Was a pretty big one.
- 3:06Big time. Big time.
- 3:07So Shelton, I don't know how much you got on him, but it's
- 3:10Ryan Jones, A6 foot eight center, 225 out of Gainesville,
- 3:13FL. He is a composite 97.
- 3:18He is a high four-star. He is a top 70 player in the
- 3:21country. I think I read correct me if I'm
- 3:24wrong, Shelton, the fourth highest rated player of all time
- 3:27that has come to Tech. That is correct fourth highest
- 3:30rated player of all time and six foot eight.
- 3:32You could play them at power for you, play them at center
- 3:35obviously pretty versatile and kind of fits the the Mike Young
- 3:37bolt of a big man. So it's a bit, it's a big time
- 3:39pickup for sure. Definitely big time pick up.
- 3:42And then looking at the offer list here, I mean he wasn't
- 3:45short. He had a lot of interest from a
- 3:47lot of different schools. Effectively the Hokies beat out
- 3:50the Gators down there, which you know goes our way this time for
- 3:54once about a kid wanting to get away from home right in
- 3:57basketball. So it's a good thing for
- 4:01basketball, but I wanted to hit that real quick because we are
- 4:03etching every day of the season. If none of y'all follow, what's
- 4:07his name? John.
- 4:11John Rothstein Every morning I wake up at fools counting down
- 4:14the clock to basketball season's almost here and that's something
- 4:18we'll be taking a look at in the Next up this upcoming month
- 4:22taking some basketball stuff. One other news and note guys, if
- 4:26you didn't see this, Evan Watkins over 247 put this out
- 4:29and I know they were close. Aiden Green, Braylon Johnson,
- 4:35Dante Lovett, Moose Phillips. And Caleb Woodson, the Red
- 4:41Church are gone. They got a choice.
- 4:45No choice. Man got to.
- 4:47You got to and and also The thing is with those guys and
- 4:51they're playing good roles like Green's got a couple catches to
- 4:54be a freshman. Johnson, Lovett.
- 4:56Lovett's playing I think every special team snap.
- 5:00So any any, any feelings on this or you know, Tally said it had
- 5:04to have Brian. Any feelings on this?
- 5:06I mean, the big thing for me was talking about green.
- 5:09You know, we are. We talked about the beginning of
- 5:10the season. He was going to be that kind of
- 5:125-6 roll in the wide receiver room and we're seeing Green kind
- 5:16of etch that that roll out for himself there.
- 5:20The others are just we needed the depth and that's where they
- 5:23are. And I mean some of them would
- 5:24play well in its spots. I'd say especially Phillips is
- 5:28coming along and you know, Woodson's out there getting a
- 5:30lot of run and obviously Johnson and Lovett have been kind of
- 5:34filling in at cornerback when we need him in there and
- 5:36occasionally jumping back to. To safety when we got thin
- 5:40there. So I mean it's just been
- 5:42necessity on the defensive side, but good to see a guy like Green
- 5:45kind of take that that jump into the that five and six roll in
- 5:49the wide receiver room. Shown any thoughts on any of
- 5:52these guys you know? Is there one maybe of the bunch
- 5:55you've noticed with data statistics to say wish we could
- 5:59have held it, not burning him? No.
- 6:02I mean, I think it's just it's kind of hard to judge with young
- 6:04guys because you don't, first of all, you don't have the sample
- 6:08size, really to make an accurate judgment.
- 6:10You just don't know how they're gonna, how they're gonna project
- 6:12in the future. So I tend to trust coaches with
- 6:15red shirt decisions, You know, it's not, it's not my place.
- 6:17They assume every day in practice.
- 6:18So, you know, it's whatever they decide I'm cool with.
- 6:22Yeah, yeah, we are not the full TSL.
- 6:25Chris Coleman, red shirt, everybody.
- 6:27Because in some situations, you know they're going to be County
- 6:29Jenkins as a senior you had to get Woodson or whoever won that
- 6:33between Woodson and I cannot think of the other kids name
- 6:36from down in Petersburg Cottman. You know they were one of the
- 6:41women get a ton of run this year.
- 6:42You just knew it was going to happen just because it had to
- 6:44happen. And then with the depth at
- 6:46cornerback, we said it, you know, six weeks ago, like these
- 6:50guys are going to get run like they're probably not going to be
- 6:53a red shirt for them. And then they played pretty
- 6:55good, so. You know they're gone.
- 6:57I don't know who's the next one to be gone, but there probably
- 7:00is going to be a few more burn before the end of the season.
- 7:02So we shall see. All right, well, let's get to
- 7:05it. Let's tell the truth Tuesday
- 7:07again. 3821 win for the Hokies against the Pitt Panthers.
- 7:12The Pitt Panthers that came in with the 12th ranked defense in
- 7:15the country. Total defense in the country,
- 7:17which was kind of, you know, St. They gave up.
- 7:22They gave up less yards to UNC than they did us.
- 7:25I don't know. That's crazy all.
- 7:27Right, but what went well, I'm going to start this off because
- 7:31watching Lane Stadium Saturday night, she was mean.
- 7:36She was loud. It was intimidating.
- 7:38They had multiple false starts. You could tell that stadium was
- 7:41in the head. And it did not quiet the entire
- 7:44game, even after big plays kept being loud, kept disturbing
- 7:49them. And it's like that.
- 7:51It's that throwback, right? Like we always see it loud, but
- 7:55that's Saturday night she was she's nasty.
- 8:01It was loud, very loud you know seen it on the on the shots it
- 8:05looked like, I like the white out looked better than I've seen
- 8:09it look anytime we've had the white out.
- 8:11So kudos to the fans for for really leaning into that and
- 8:16getting that to to look pretty incredible out there.
- 8:20But yeah, I mean, I thought the. The atmosphere was great.
- 8:26We looked at at what they were able to do in the field of the
- 8:28commitment to the running game, getting drones in the running
- 8:31game, but just leaning on the running game.
- 8:33We saw them kind of get a little bit of momentum last week, went
- 8:37away from it, came back late, hit it early and often.
- 8:42This week we're able to sprinkle some big plays in there that we
- 8:46hadn't seen before. So I think, you know, looking at
- 8:48that, those are two big things that I didn't expect against
- 8:51this pit defense. Me either.
- 8:53Tally. Tally, I had a quick question
- 8:54for you. You know how many times we ran
- 8:56the ball Saturday night? Man, I don't know.
- 8:59Probably what, 65? Close 5959 at 3.4 carry.
- 9:08And you'd have told if you'd have told any of us that we do
- 9:11that against any defense that we're playing, especially
- 9:15probably that first game, especially Pitt, we had said
- 9:18you'd lying. You know he's just.
- 9:21Basshell Tootin is is just, he's a man.
- 9:25He was, he was tired man. You can tell he was sucking win.
- 9:29He was punishing people after runs but he continued to do it.
- 9:33He go on the sideline, he get him a little water, he get back
- 9:36in like it was. It was good to see, you know it
- 9:40takes us to the next point where Tyler Bowen caught a pretty good
- 9:45game, man. Like his play designs.
- 9:48The play calls were actually pretty spot on.
- 9:52You know, all of us watching the game, a lot of times you're
- 9:55like, why are we running up the middle so much?
- 9:57Why are we doing this so much? I mean he he got people on the
- 10:00outside. He moved the pocket for drones,
- 10:04You know, he called the right quarterback draws at the right
- 10:07time. Like it was just the play
- 10:10designs man. He he did kudos to him.
- 10:13I think he was a ACC coordinator of the of the wheat.
- 10:19I was well deserved, man, because, I mean going into that
- 10:22game, you know, the ACC Network is there.
- 10:24Everybody loves Lane Stadium, everybody loves the atmosphere.
- 10:28But I can say nobody expected what they seen on that field
- 10:33Saturday night. I know I didn't.
- 10:36I don't think any of the commentators did.
- 10:38I don't think any of y'all did what you say, Curtis.
- 10:40We definitely didn't. None of us did.
- 10:42I mean, we were effectively. It was one of those nobody in
- 10:45this room. Nor our guest last week picked
- 10:48the Oakies to win. We all had it close.
- 10:51We all had it close. But.
- 10:53No, you got to go back. Mike did.
- 10:55Remember Mike, Daniel did. He said.
- 10:58He said this is going to be the week that we're going to put it
- 11:00all together and we're going to get picked.
- 11:02And I said, ah, you're a liar. It ain't happening.
- 11:06Mike did pick him to win, though.
- 11:08All right, so shell, I'm going to throw this to you man,
- 11:11because I think you got the data there.
- 11:12If not, I know you can pull it up pretty quick.
- 11:15How many explosive runs and passes did we have on Saturday
- 11:19night? Because it seemed like we were
- 11:21getting multiple 1/4. We did, yes.
- 11:25I'm pulling up A1 SEC. Also, just to another note about
- 11:28the number of plays you ran, part of the reason that we ran
- 11:31so many times is because we had the ball so long.
- 11:34I think we had, we had 78 plays for reference that the average
- 11:37in a game is about 66. So we're plus 12 in the average.
- 11:41And I think we had 32 more plays run than Pitt did.
- 11:44Wow. So that kind of that kind of
- 11:45speaks to like how? I'm actually dominant.
- 11:47That is crazy. That is crazy.
- 11:49So yeah, so in terms of explosive plays, actually we did
- 11:54not have a huge amount. So I'm seeing 7% explosive play
- 11:58rate which is about kind of around the 36 percentile.
- 12:02And then if you divide it up in terms of run pass, he had four
- 12:07big passing plays and then one big rushing play.
- 12:10So it wasn't so much the explosive plays as it was the I
- 12:14would say staying on schedule. Tech had a really good success,
- 12:17right? Which I'm sure we can talk
- 12:18about, but they just they they never got behind the sticks.
- 12:21Yeah, no, we didn't money down conversions.
- 12:23We were 10 to 18. That's over 50%.
- 12:26You tell me. We're 10 of 18 every here game
- 12:28from here to the end of the season.
- 12:29I will. I will take it.
- 12:31I don't care. I will take 10 of 18 every week
- 12:33on 3rd and 4th downs. Because like you said, we
- 12:37sustain drives. We sustain drives.
- 12:40And I know in a little while here somebody's going to talk
- 12:41about TOP. He's got the exact number.
- 12:44But that was the impressive part you talk about.
- 12:47You said 7%. Well, heck, when you go 7% of 70
- 12:50plays, that's about 6 big plays and you're talking about one
- 12:54right out the bat, which immediately they it took them a
- 12:57it took them a while to start bringing that safety back down
- 13:00into the box after they got burned once, they did not.
- 13:04Effectively they like to play the guys up and it's like you
- 13:06get burned once over the top because it was a if y'all.
- 13:09Remember that play was a go post route.
- 13:11The safety went with the post. They Quan beat his man over the
- 13:15top. What are you supposed to do?
- 13:20And the other thing, let's flip to the other side on defense
- 13:22real quick. Two for 11 on money downs for
- 13:26Pitt. Would you love to see?
- 13:29411 what What would you see Brian, with that?
- 13:32What? What was going on with the stops
- 13:36that really made it successful on Saturday night?
- 13:40Getting in Jerkovic's ass on on those third down plays.
- 13:44His new name, His new name is Filthy Field.
- 13:47That's what we're calling him on this show.
- 13:50I don't know what Lane Stadium does to him, but Filthy Field
- 13:53does not react good when he's in Lane Stadium.
- 13:57Talk about we talked about Boeing getting a tight asshole
- 14:00last week in that in that second and third quarter, every time
- 14:05Phil Jakovic lined up in Lane Stadium, he's got a tight
- 14:07asshole. It's like he forgets.
- 14:11I mean, he hasn't had it now Great.
- 14:13He has not had a great year playing quarterback in general,
- 14:16but he was in hell for four quarters.
- 14:19He was. He was.
- 14:22And outside of two, outside of two plays, he did nothing.
- 14:27He was so nervous. If you go watch on the play
- 14:29where he pulled the ball, nobody was around him.
- 14:32He was still scared, I think, the commentator said.
- 14:35He didn't even realize nobody was around him.
- 14:37He hesitated like go watch that play.
- 14:40He just he didn't want to take off.
- 14:42I don't know what I mean was but.
- 14:43You know, I talked, I talked a little bit last week.
- 14:45I was like, if Phil plays, I think he's still going to be a
- 14:48little bit gun shy and he looked a little bit gun shy out there.
- 14:52He looked a little bit gun. Shy.
- 14:53And then he would talk his shit like, you know, like, what are
- 14:56you doing, man? Look at the scoreboard.
- 14:58Well, one thing I can say, you know even on that clip that you
- 15:01that you showed at the beginning and it wasn't just the
- 15:06quarterback, but the quarter. It helps when it's the
- 15:08quarterback. Like I don't want Dick heads on
- 15:11the. Well, I do want Dick heads on
- 15:12the team. You know you don't want people
- 15:15to do that the. Right kind of Dick head.
- 15:17You don't want people to do stupid stuff off the field,
- 15:19That's what I mean. But when?
- 15:22When drones hit, that touchdown hit felt over the top.
- 15:27You saw all the way down the field.
- 15:29First of all, he hit the celebration, which is awesome.
- 15:32This is football. Have fun.
- 15:34He is passing people that he's going to have to hit all night.
- 15:38Ryman, they're going to hit you all night.
- 15:41He's talking, John. He goes up to the cornerback.
- 15:44He's pointing at him. We got you.
- 15:46You know, it just looks like he's saying you got you got your
- 15:48eyes in the back field, we got you.
- 15:50And I was thinking. This can go one or two ways
- 15:53because a team like Pitt is very physical, mostly, you know, like
- 15:57that's what we're they're known for.
- 15:58But by the end of the game or middle of the game, they're
- 16:03helping drones up. They're tapping them on the
- 16:05helmet. He was punishing people after
- 16:08runs. Like, it was crazy to see the
- 16:11attitude that we took on, like, where's that be, You know what
- 16:14I'm saying? Not just him Tooting, you know,
- 16:17Felton. Everybody who was even the, even
- 16:20the lineman who weren't fucking blocking good, had a a nasty
- 16:24attitude. I'm all right with that.
- 16:26Dragging people, you know, you got people getting in the pile.
- 16:30When's the last time we pushed the pile?
- 16:32I wait. What do I always say, Curtis?
- 16:34If you go fuck up, fuck up full speed.
- 16:37Man. Fuck up full speed and hit.
- 16:39Somebody we're pushing the pile. We we after trying to make
- 16:43something happen. Like, just that attitude man
- 16:46was. Great to see, you know what I'm
- 16:48saying? Because I've seen it on defense
- 16:49a little bit, You know, I've seen some glimpses on defense.
- 16:52But offense is like, what are we doing, man?
- 16:54We're going in places, We're acting scared.
- 16:56But Saturday night, man, it was, it was kudos to the fans.
- 17:00I think Alex said he was there. Alex, I love you and fuck you
- 17:04because the game I went to was a hurricane and we didn't get to
- 17:07see lane hopping like it was when you, man.
- 17:12I know it was awesome to see. Well yeah definitely also to see
- 17:15and it and it and it made a lot of things talk.
- 17:17I mean it made a lot of like you said that energy went through
- 17:21because one thing we had mentioned was like let's get
- 17:23pressure on Jacoby sacking 4 times he got hit more.
- 17:27I mean it was all might they were in the face and the biggest
- 17:31piece of that is somebody who I didn't get to hear the interview
- 17:34today for Darius Payne's playing like a madman right now.
- 17:38I mean his twitch and and coach probably mentioned it today.
- 17:43How he comes off the ball when it's snapped, he shoots that.
- 17:48I mean it. It takes me back to the days I'm
- 17:50thinking here. I always remember John Graves
- 17:53had a quick twitch like John Graves was a truly a defensive
- 17:57man when he played down at Meadowbrook, right, Meadowbrook.
- 18:01And then when he got up they put him at D tackle like Corey
- 18:04Marshall. Same way the 285 pounds, but
- 18:07they so quick and twitchy and we were destroying them all night.
- 18:13All night, Brian, let's talk, let's talk about a few other
- 18:16things. What have we been struggling
- 18:17with that showed no signs that it was ever anything that bad?
- 18:23When you get 38 rushing yards total on a on, let's see how
- 18:292224 carries. Say that again. 24 carries, 38
- 18:37rushing yards. That's not good, man.
- 18:39That's not good, but with, but with what we've struggled with
- 18:42in the last few weeks, did it shock you?
- 18:46It it, it was it definitely it it peaked my eyebrows up a
- 18:50little bit. I was like, all right, that's
- 18:54not expected, especially against this team because as much as
- 18:57they've been struggling in the past game, I figured that we
- 18:59would see them kind of lean on the run a little bit and they
- 19:03weren't able to be able to get really anything going.
- 19:05It's like, you know, we talked about it last week.
- 19:08We talked about. We got to get Mike back on him
- 19:10and let him have his roundabout run fits.
- 19:13And you know Brian's talked about tackling like it did not
- 19:17rears ugly head except for one play.
- 19:20Well, which I'm sure we'll talk about one play we seen no wrap
- 19:24up shot out of a cannon that gives the freaking running back
- 19:30a boost to get to the end zone. But other than that it's like
- 19:34the run fits were better. You know what I'm saying?
- 19:36The. The tackling was 10 times
- 19:40better. Anytime you hold A-Team to 38
- 19:43yards and it's like you kind of feel like at one point it was
- 19:47like we demoralized them, you know what I'm saying?
- 19:50Like they fought for a little bit, but they were so deflated,
- 19:53man. And then you got some people
- 19:55say, well, such and such was hurt.
- 19:57I don't give a fuck who was hurt.
- 19:59They sent A-Team down here. They played.
- 20:02I hate pit. Last year they had fucking 6
- 20:05touchdowns and 320 yards rushing by one player.
- 20:10I don't care if they had Forrest Gump before he got his braces
- 20:14off running, the ball hit. Him and they did all night I
- 20:19mean and again you mentioned the tackling.
- 20:21I don't know if you've got anything on it Shell but I'll
- 20:23I'll ask him talking to it. But it didn't seem like other
- 20:26than the one plane we're going to talk about it in a second
- 20:28here. I don't.
- 20:29I didn't foresee any missed tackles like.
- 20:32It was wrap up. It was get down.
- 20:34It was wrap up. Stop.
- 20:36Wait for the gang. You get there and then they go
- 20:38down. It was gang tackling too, like
- 20:41you said, gang tackling. You've seen so many maroon
- 20:45jerseys flying to the ball, you know, besides just the first
- 20:50guy. Unless the first guy got him
- 20:52down. And then you had people coming,
- 20:55like, you know, case in point, who was it that got the Jacobic?
- 21:02Kendricks got into COVID and it was so quick that he got to him
- 21:06and he thought he was down. But you had and you had to watch
- 21:09it in. Like I had to watch it a couple,
- 21:11Yeah. I had to watch it in a couple of
- 21:12times. He comes through and punches the
- 21:14ball out, you know, like and and recovers the fumble, like that's
- 21:20that's part of being around the ball.
- 21:21That's part of gang tackling. So love to see it, man.
- 21:25Yeah, and I'll say this, I mean, this is the first time I've
- 21:27really seen. Us have that kind of identity on
- 21:31both sides of the ball and in a game for four quarters.
- 21:34And I mean, I know it's easy to say you've got an identity when
- 21:37things are going well for you, but we haven't really seen a
- 21:40whole lot of that the last couple years.
- 21:42So it was good to see a game where you felt like we were
- 21:46playing to our strengths on both sides of the ball.
- 21:50All right, so Sheldon, give us the number.
- 21:52How many missed tackles Saturday night?
- 21:55So per PFF, we had six total miss tackles and our our overall
- 22:00tackle rate was around 83%. So it's pretty solid.
- 22:03I think the national average is probably around 20%.
- 22:07So we're definitely above above the average.
- 22:10Very nice and that's what we need to see.
- 22:12It's those continued steps up and up and up because again, it
- 22:16ain't gonna be perfect. We do have some flaws, but The
- 22:19thing is what I think, I think as a fan base and probably us
- 22:22four, that makes us feel better. Talking about the run fits and
- 22:25tackling, we know it was an issue and it's like I know I'm
- 22:29not going to say it's solved yet, but at least I know they
- 22:32are coaching to it and you saw it in practice.
- 22:36Just like Tyler Bowen, we talked about you know he processed it,
- 22:40you can't get away from the run. We have to continue doing this.
- 22:44He didn't get away from it. So it's they're learning from
- 22:46those mistakes that continued, that were continuing to happen
- 22:50and finally they self corrected, which is always a good thing.
- 22:53All right. We do have to talk about what
- 22:54went bad. You know, we, we, we, we can
- 22:58sugarcoat it. But Brian, where do you want to
- 23:01start with this? What it was?
- 23:03That Saturday night. Let's start.
- 23:05We always do the right side of the offensive line.
- 23:10It was another subpar overall performance.
- 23:14Probably the some of the other guys on the other side of the
- 23:18ball had some of the better games they played in their
- 23:21career specifically I'd say. Kaden played really well.
- 23:24Xavier Chaplin probably played the best game in his career.
- 23:27So you know when you have that there, what's kind of going on
- 23:31the right side looks stands out a little bit more, right?
- 23:34So not a good game from Parker. Not, not, not as bad as it has
- 23:40been the last couple. Probably Schick's worst game,
- 23:45especially in the run game that that I've seen this year.
- 23:48So rough overall on that side. Thankfully, it didn't end up.
- 23:52Having a big impact on the game between what Tudon and Drones
- 23:57were able to do with some of the misdirections, some of the
- 24:01broken tackles and making something out of nothing.
- 24:03Some of that kind of got glossed over a little bit where where
- 24:07there was a a good play from that wasn't really blocked that
- 24:11great right. So you had, you had a few of
- 24:14those, but Zero had Bob the Builder inhale all night.
- 24:20Even when he wasn't making plays, he was in the backfield,
- 24:22he was grabbing people. He was doing all types of shit.
- 24:25Bob, I'm going to tell you, like I told Parker, if you don't get
- 24:29it together, y'all too I'm on. Since we won, I'm going to let
- 24:33you. I'm going to let you live.
- 24:36You better get it together. You better protect this
- 24:38quarterback in this running back.
- 24:40So Sheldon, who was our highest graded alignment in the case?
- 24:45It was definitely getting more. I remember looking at the the
- 24:48grades. I think it was around like 6063
- 24:51or something. He was really good in in fast
- 24:52protection and pretty good and and run blocking as well.
- 24:55But I mean for the most part I think the office of line was
- 24:57pretty average to below average outside of more.
- 25:01I think the biggest, the biggest reason for the success as you
- 25:03guys saw was the the wide receiver blocking in the
- 25:05perimeter. That's how you that's how they
- 25:08set up all the the outside runs. You can't.
- 25:09You can't make those plays work if you don't have good blocking
- 25:11from the wide receivers. But when you got a tight end
- 25:14coach for a wide receiver coach, you better.
- 25:16I got a feeling fine tail minds. You don't block, you don't play
- 25:19for that man. And just his face shows it too.
- 25:23On the other thing, on the touch, Yeah, on the touchdown
- 25:25where Drones was dragging three or four people in the end zone,
- 25:29the only person I've seen that, like, really engaged and blocked
- 25:33was more. If you go back and watch the
- 25:37play, you know, it just wasn't nobody else there, you know?
- 25:39And the and the three or four people that he was dragging in
- 25:42the end zone was the people that were supposed to be blocked.
- 25:45So you know, like. Sometimes you get lucky.
- 25:49Partly got lucky. His man took himself out of the
- 25:52play. Chaplain's man kind of took
- 25:54himself out of the play, then redirected and grabbed.
- 25:57You know, he has some other people grabbing.
- 25:59But I mean what I can say. I know we talking about what
- 26:03went bad, but what I can say is even though we was fucking up,
- 26:06we was doing it full speed. Yeah, Brody was in there
- 26:10helping. He was trying to pull and
- 26:12taking, taking drones to the end zone.
- 26:14And sometimes that's what you need, man.
- 26:17You got to, you got to find something to play for, you got
- 26:19to play for each other and there you go.
- 26:21It looked like we at least tried to do that.
- 26:23If you can't play good, play hard.
- 26:24There you there you go. So let's talk about the couple
- 26:28explosive pass plays that led to two of Pitts 4 touchdowns.
- 26:33Do we all agree the first one is what it is?
- 26:36Man got beat, Bombed on us. Bomb can't do nothing about
- 26:40that. The second one was the the one
- 26:43Tally was mentioned in a few minutes ago.
- 26:45Yes, the obvious. Nobody wanted to wrap up
- 26:48Flemeister on that little screen.
- 26:50Nobody. And.
- 26:53That play which went for, I believe it was 5061 yards. 6161,
- 27:00Yep, 61 in the 75 as 136 of their yards right there on their
- 27:07total. I think it was under 200 plus,
- 27:09but it's still you still don't like to see it right.
- 27:14I know, I know, Shelton can probably pull us up here and say
- 27:17percentage wise for explosive plays, we were significantly
- 27:20lower Saturday night. Than the national average.
- 27:23I'll let him I'll let him pull that up and talk about it but
- 27:26it's still it's knowing where you're going it's that whole
- 27:32forcing teams Brian me and you always talked about this for
- 27:34years forcing teams to drive the ball more plays equals more
- 27:40potential errors. If if you getting when you
- 27:43getting shredded with one or two plays and they go for you know
- 27:4730-40 plus yards like you don't have a chance in that.
- 27:52They score and it's like that whole mentality of keep it in
- 27:56front of you, you keep it in front of you, they got to run
- 27:59another play. Eventually somebody will screw
- 28:01up hopefully and good things happen.
- 28:07So go ahead, go. Ahead, I was just going to.
- 28:09I'll let you go and pitch it to you.
- 28:11I'll jump in after that. Sean, what, what was the
- 28:14percentage on explosive plays from Pitt if you have that data?
- 28:18If not, Brian will jump in while you're still researching.
- 28:20Yeah, you can go ahead. I'm I'm still looking at it.
- 28:22Yeah you're good just saying on explosive plays I mean you know
- 28:27that's really been the the big struggle for this team in every
- 28:31game so far. You know let let those big plays
- 28:35especially in the run game. So the fact that we're we're
- 28:37starting to make some some hay there is nice but you know you
- 28:42still have the one like you said it happens but when on on the
- 28:47screen just get them to the ground.
- 28:51To the ground and The thing is. And guys are in position to make
- 28:56the play. That's the more frustrating,
- 28:58like if it's a caravan, then you know it is what it is.
- 29:01But right, if if you just get out outflanked, then we got
- 29:07accepted like they threw a bomb on us.
- 29:09Somebody got beat. Nothing you really can do.
- 29:12Somebody got beat with no safety help, but when you when you got
- 29:17people in position to make a tackle and the defense somewhat
- 29:19looks to be called to stop that play, even though that was a
- 29:24safety blitz, I mean a corner blitz, they threw the ball where
- 29:27the corner came from. We still have people in place to
- 29:30make the tackle. A PR came in like a like he was
- 29:34shot out of a rocket, just didn't wrap up and when he hit
- 29:37the running back, it looked like he gave him a Mario star and he
- 29:41took off to the end zone. I was like, how did he do that?
- 29:45Like he wasn't running that fast before he got hit.
- 29:47So it was just when stuff like that happens, you know, and
- 29:51especially in like that point in the game where you're making
- 29:54some noise, I think it was 28 to 7 and then they go for a run
- 29:59like that. You're like okay, here we go.
- 30:01That's what Virginia Tech does. We we give up the big plays, so.
- 30:05Very true. Sheldon, were you able to find
- 30:08anything? Yeah, I just, I think I so I had
- 30:137% exposed to put rate against Pitts and then I think against
- 30:19Rutgers it was like 4%, which is pretty bad.
- 30:21Marshall was much better, though.
- 30:23So The thing is, it kind of obviously goes up and down game
- 30:26to game. There's a lot of variance in
- 30:28terms of explicit plays. I would say this is probably 1
- 30:30area where I think maybe the analytics.
- 30:35Differs from conventional wisdom.
- 30:37It's not that explicit plays don't matter, It's just that
- 30:39they tend to be pretty random. And so the most sustainable way
- 30:43to create offense is to, like I said, stay on schedule, be
- 30:47successful, you know, get get chunk cards when you can.
- 30:51I think it's what like to the point you're saying having
- 30:54explicit plays is big because it reduces the number of plays you
- 30:57need to score for to to have a successful drive, which is less,
- 31:03you know, potential for error. But when you look at it over
- 31:07over the course of time, the best offices are the ones that
- 31:09stay on schedule, not necessarily the ones that have
- 31:12the biggest explosive plays. So it it does matter, but it's
- 31:14just one component, I think, of sustaining offense.
- 31:17And so the biggest thing for me against Pitt was the fact that
- 31:20tech was, like I said, extremely successful.
- 31:23They were They had a 50% success rate, which would have been
- 31:27around the 90th percentile. So that's that's really, really
- 31:30good. Yeah, we need to offense.
- 31:32And I mean, you know to to Sheldon's point there, when you
- 31:36look at those, those explosive plays and you look at what Pitts
- 31:40been doing all year, The problem that with Pitts offense is that
- 31:43they're pretty much only explosive plays right now.
- 31:45Like, they have very little. They're generating very little
- 31:48offense outside of those explosive plays.
- 31:50Right. But you know the one thing you
- 31:53talked about Shelton's making a great point of staying on task,
- 31:56it's impressive you say we're at 90% success rate when we had 10
- 32:00penalties at 91 yards. Now two of those were complete.
- 32:06Two were bullshit. I'll straight straight up two
- 32:08were bullshit drone spiking the ball and a 15 yard penalty and
- 32:14delaying trash talking. Really.
- 32:18I mean I'm wondering is it, I'm wondering is it a cold word that
- 32:21the the reps said like some some reps don't like a certain word.
- 32:25Did you say, you know, I wonder, did he say that word?
- 32:28Maybe, you know, I mean like. The football.
- 32:31And he's like, wait a second. Spiking the football gets you a
- 32:35penalty? What?
- 32:36Yeah, well, I didn't know that. Well, apparently get jacked into
- 32:40the backfield is enough to be to get a tripping call on these
- 32:43too, so you know. I mean so.
- 32:45That was a that was a phantom tripping call on Gosnell.
- 32:48So that's really three. If you want to add it, add that
- 32:50one in. So add that one in there.
- 32:51So three, the phantom tripping call, they all are fifteens.
- 32:55So what that scares me on this because the other seven were for
- 32:5960 and you know they were procedurals.
- 33:02I think we have one offsides and those are the ones where
- 33:05Shelton's just talking about. We have to, we have to clean
- 33:08that up because you're not going to have the success rate of 90
- 33:12having. You know, 60 plus yards or
- 33:14excuse me, 40 plus yards and procedural penalties because
- 33:17you're going to be first and 15. Oh well, instead of section and
- 33:20six, it's second and 11:00 because somebody jumped.
- 33:25So it's something I want to see cleaned up.
- 33:27I think we all want to see cleaned up because those are the
- 33:29ones you like. That's the ones that I will
- 33:31litter If I'm sitting here with my hat on in the man cave and we
- 33:33do, I throw it to the ground because it's like, just like,
- 33:37stop the stupid crap. Like, stop the dumb shit, you
- 33:39might as well throw the hat up because they throw the flags up
- 33:42because we jumping off sides. Yeah, I mean, you know, Curtis
- 33:47you're talking about, I mean, it ended up not being playing that
- 33:49much of A role this week. But I mean, you look back to the
- 33:51Marshall game with going from. 4th and one to keep the drive
- 33:55going to tie it to 4th and 6th and now you got a completely
- 33:58different mindset of what you need to do to get that first
- 34:00down and how pissed does it make you?
- 34:03How piss does it make you that we run the 4th down play where
- 34:06we put drones on the center and right behind him and we just
- 34:11push him forward and he gains like 3 yards?
- 34:13We didn't do it again, but I'm no, but I'm saying if we don't
- 34:17jump off sides against Marshall, we can use that play, you know,
- 34:20and we can get a first down, but you jump off sides and you make
- 34:23it 4th and 6th. Totally different play.
- 34:26Yep. All right.
- 34:27Before we wrap it up, anything else of what went bad?
- 34:30Any of y'all want to point out, I will say this and it's
- 34:34something that he's they're going to have to correct and
- 34:38it's probably because of how much he's he's carrying the
- 34:40ball. I think Drones has fumbled in
- 34:43three games. I think he's fumbled three times
- 34:46or maybe lost three from. I got to go back and look, I
- 34:48know he's fumbled a couple times.
- 34:50We got to, he's got to clean that up.
- 34:52You know, we, he don't want that stigma on him.
- 34:54I know he's carrying that ball a lot.
- 34:56Sooner or later we're going to have to not have him carry the
- 34:58ball 22 * a game. But we got to, we got to live
- 35:03with those fumbles because, you know, in a close game it'll come
- 35:06back and bite us. Yeah, the first game he had the
- 35:09the missed handoff. So what really like fumble, But
- 35:12I mean it was it was credited to him because of the exchange at
- 35:15the mesh point. But then, yeah, he did fumble.
- 35:18Against Marshall, you know, running the football and then
- 35:21obviously what was what happened in the backfield this week.
- 35:24It gets pits so you know got to clean up the fumbles.
- 35:28He's doing good. I don't think he's got one pick
- 35:32but you know as as the play caller man and and I think
- 35:35drones is doing an awesome job. Y'all know how I feel.
- 35:38Y'all know how BCP feels about drones being Q B1 we.
- 35:42Have been only since April. Yeah, yeah.
- 35:45But him going forward and him taking that next step is going
- 35:48to be he's got to clean up the, got to clean up the turnovers.
- 35:51Well, all three of them are different though the the mesh
- 35:53point, you know. There's been no issues with the
- 35:57mesh since then, right? The run.
- 35:59It was how he was protecting the ball.
- 36:01I didn't see that Saturday night.
- 36:03When he ran, he was much more protected.
- 36:05What it was Saturday night was he was trembling, trying to get
- 36:08away and he was trying like a slipped out of his hand.
- 36:11So it's one of those. That's where the conversations
- 36:13got to be. Hey, listen.
- 36:15You've got to know when it's over and you just got to Chuck
- 36:18it over the head so but but the way I see it is we've had no
- 36:21more mess issues. He looked better protected the
- 36:23ball Saturday again it's like they're coaching to it.
- 36:26He's taking it and he's put it in practice.
- 36:28So let's clean up the the other one, let's clean up the well.
- 36:34When you're getting pressured and you know and and there's a
- 36:37no win situation, you've got to get rid of it quicker.
- 36:42You can because at that point there were two guys on him.
- 36:44Yeah. And I was going to say it's a
- 36:45couple of times what he's what he's good at is also can be what
- 36:49the Achilles heel will be like. He's good.
- 36:53I think, I can't remember was it fourth, was it fourth quarter
- 36:56maybe third or fourth quarter the the the throw he made to
- 36:59Dequan, right. He's got people draped on him
- 37:03and he kind of jumps and throws the 30 yard pass and we get the
- 37:06first down to right. So my thing is like he, he has a
- 37:14knack for doing certain things, but the more and more he plays,
- 37:18he's going to have to see how he can do that.
- 37:20Because it was a couple of times like when they got the
- 37:23intentional grounding call, like if he doesn't have just a little
- 37:27bit more arm on that ball, he had no receipt was around.
- 37:30That's a pick and that's a pick six, you know what I'm saying?
- 37:34Like that's a long, that is a long way to the sideline.
- 37:37So I know he he got a looking at him play man he looks so mature.
- 37:43He's such a young guy man and I just you know I want them to to
- 37:46get behind him and and keep developing him because he's
- 37:49special. You know I I I kind of thought
- 37:52it when I seen him and I seen some of those things that he
- 37:55could do. I was like, I think he'll fit,
- 37:57fit in good in this, in this offense, but you know just those
- 38:00things, if he tweaks those, you know, moving forward, I think
- 38:04that I think we got a star in our hands.
- 38:06I. Think you're right?
- 38:08Take the ball, baby. Protected.
- 38:10All right, let's move on this one.
- 38:11That was obviously the bad. We still have things we are
- 38:15griping about because we're fans, because they ain't no none
- 38:19of y'all out there below that, because I know y'all great, but.
- 38:23Let's do this one next and I'm going to lead it off Anything
- 38:26that happened that we were not prepared for, and this is my
- 38:29biggie after the big Flameister touchdown pass after the fumble.
- 38:36Within 5 seconds, it goes from a three score lead to A1 score
- 38:39lead. And this is where I think you
- 38:41know people, The question Is it the right coaching staff?
- 38:43And this is when it kind of clicked on me.
- 38:45We do have a good coaching staff.
- 38:47That whole team was calm. The entire team was calm.
- 38:51Offense, defense, everybody was just like, hey, this is all
- 38:55right, everybody take a breath. We've made a couple mistakes.
- 38:59We still got a lead. We're still playing well.
- 39:03I mean there have been times in the past where it wasn't like
- 39:06that. It was the old cascade effect,
- 39:08Brian, right? Rolling down bad just keeps
- 39:12happening. Bad just keeps happening.
- 39:15It didn't happen because after that, you know, after that
- 39:18fumble return, after the fumble return, just a few minutes
- 39:24later, we going to score again, we we take the 14 point lead
- 39:28back and it's just like okay. That made me feel good.
- 39:32What about? You, Brian, I'd say the big
- 39:34thing there is that, you know, when we look at just speaking to
- 39:39your point, not only did they not panic, but the staff trusted
- 39:45the players to go out there and get it back, right, get that
- 39:49touchdown back and they did it. So that was big.
- 39:52My thing is, I didn't expect that much complimentary football
- 39:56and one football game. That's true.
- 40:00I wasn't expected. Yeah, that's true.
- 40:03Well, going back to two what what Curtis said when he talks
- 40:05about the calmness kind of starts with the head man, like
- 40:09when drones turns that ball over, which we've talked about
- 40:14other regimes that we probably know of would have got tight or
- 40:18even even even us. You know, we would have thought
- 40:21our coaches might have got tight.
- 40:22But I've seen and and and we talked about it you know last
- 40:25week talking about wanting to see some you know some action
- 40:30from the coaches. I seen pride be lining over the
- 40:34to drones when he when he lost that ball and I'm like oh he's
- 40:37about to get in his ass. He didn't.
- 40:39He went over he put his head. You know I don't know what he
- 40:41said to him. He probably said you better go
- 40:43get it back. You know it's all right we still
- 40:45up. But whatever he said he made
- 40:47sure his young quarterback was calm enough to go out and run
- 40:50the offense. So Andrea I was wondering where
- 40:53you was at. I was about to get pissed, man,
- 40:55if you don't show up on a win, but but anyway, yeah, like like
- 41:00Curtis said, man, just the calmness of the team, you know,
- 41:04starting with the coach, then the quarterback, then everybody
- 41:06else. We just kept on.
- 41:08We kept on grooving and then what Brian said, you know we had
- 41:12the we had the complimentary football throughout the
- 41:17throughout the game. You know, you kind of when when
- 41:21things went bad on offense, defense stepped up, you know
- 41:25what I'm saying? When they cut it.
- 41:27So when they cut the lead, defense went out and got a big
- 41:30stop. When they gave the ball back to
- 41:32the offense, the offense went and scored.
- 41:34Because there's been plenty of times when we get a, we get a,
- 41:37a, a, a turnover on the 10 yard line and have to kick a field
- 41:42goal. No, we punched it in.
- 41:44Yes, we did. Yes, we.
- 41:46So brings me to my point. I didn't think I was going to
- 41:49have to change my underwear as much as I did.
- 41:52Yep, Yep. Man, it was bad.
- 41:55It was bad, man. Creaming all day.
- 42:01It was, it was so many good points in the game.
- 42:04It was so, you know, talk about the complimentary football, you
- 42:07talk about the calmness of the team, you talking about what the
- 42:10coaches did. It was just great to see a full
- 42:13game of competent football. You know what I'm saying?
- 42:17And and just to lay it out again my everybody knows my son plays
- 42:22travel baseball. So we're at the ball field place
- 42:25called Albertville this week, which is still in the in the
- 42:27country. It's a lot of country places and
- 42:29if we're playing baseball in Alabama, you're usually in the
- 42:31country. So I'm on the on the the group
- 42:36chat with the fellows and I'm just getting like late updates
- 42:39like no, but they're crazy too. It's like oh screenplay And then
- 42:44it's like, oh fuck. And then it's like, fuck the
- 42:47refs. And I'm like, like they're all
- 42:49out of order. So I don't know what's going on.
- 42:50So I just got to put it down until I actually can call
- 42:53somebody or until I can go check the score, move around and find
- 42:58a spot. So it it was nerve racking to
- 43:02not be able to watch it while it was live.
- 43:04But it also was, you know, very like it.
- 43:09It was just, man, when you looked at the score and we were
- 43:12up, you know, 28 to 7 and then they come back and make it 2821
- 43:17to 28, then we go up and take the lead, go to 3521.
- 43:21I'm like, we got a football team, yeah.
- 43:23We did shown. What about you?
- 43:25What surprised you Saturday night?
- 43:28I would say how efficient the passing game was.
- 43:30I mean, I didn't get to the stat yet, but you look at EPA per
- 43:35drop back, so that's expected points added.
- 43:37Basically it converts yards into points.
- 43:40Tech ranked in the 99th percentile in in that stat.
- 43:43So they they averaged about what was I think 12 yards per drop
- 43:47back and that includes sacks. Obviously Tech did not give up a
- 43:50single sack and it also includes scramble runs.
- 43:53So they were they were super, super efficient in terms of the
- 43:58the dropout passing game, which I think was really, really
- 44:00helpful. They obviously generated some
- 44:02expensive plays. The the touchdown passed the
- 44:03lane where I think he kind of, you know, sat in that little
- 44:07underneath spot. Kind of drift away from the
- 44:09linebackers who who kind of cheated towards one side and
- 44:12then had a ton of running room. I think it was just it was just
- 44:15a really good efficient passing offense, which is pretty nice to
- 44:18see and I know drones great out really well on PFF too.
- 44:21So kind of kind of backs up the eye test as well.
- 44:23He was just really smart with the, smart with the ball and
- 44:25make good decisions. Alrighty.
- 44:29Well, what can we do better moving forward?
- 44:30I know the one that we've kept on there is we.
- 44:33I think the way Brody Meadow plays, Brody Meadows needs to be
- 44:37starting somewhere on the line when he's got to be starting
- 44:40somewhere. I don't know where it is.
- 44:44I know where Brian wants him. As long as we get somebody off
- 44:48the right side of the line, I'm good at this point.
- 44:52And and and I think that happens and we're sitting here talking
- 44:55about it. Could we see it Florida State or
- 44:56wake? Me and Brian had a little
- 44:58sidebar conversation the other day boys.
- 45:00If it happens, it's going to be Syracuse.
- 45:02Because they're going to have the big break, right?
- 45:04They're going to have their off week and then they're going to
- 45:07have prepping for Syracuse. I think that's the week if
- 45:09there's a change made. Unless they just say, you know
- 45:12what? Put the better guy on the right
- 45:14side. Yeah, but you'll get, you'll get
- 45:16at least two extra practices in that period there, so.
- 45:20Yeah, What else, Brian? I mean, let's continue stringing
- 45:25together these multiple quarters of complimentary football
- 45:27because say win game, I kind of like it.
- 45:32It wins games. It's nice.
- 45:35It's nice looking at A at A at a team that looks competent for
- 45:40four quarters in pretty much every phase.
- 45:42Like, I don't expect them to go out there and be perfect.
- 45:44I don't think any of us expect them to go out there and play a
- 45:46perfect game, except maybe this week because that's what's
- 45:50needed to win. But we'll get to that after the
- 45:52break. True.
- 45:55True. Anything else?
- 45:56Tally well, Brian said. You know, playing competent but
- 46:00also playing confident. You know, knowing that you know
- 46:03your plays, you know, moving forward, knowing that the play
- 46:06call is going to work, knowing that you got the people in place
- 46:09to make the play. You know, if you watch Felton on
- 46:14that first pass, he's missed some.
- 46:15You know, he's still, of course he's he's not perfect, He's a
- 46:17human, but he's missed some balls that's been thrown to him.
- 46:20But when he caught that ball, you can see the excitement, like
- 46:23he's got it with two hands. He's about to squeeze the air
- 46:25out of it. Like he was so excited to catch
- 46:28the ball and get in the end zone and burn somebody.
- 46:30Like, that's confidence, you know what I'm saying?
- 46:32You can see his confidence building just every week, you
- 46:36know, and then Lane getting back.
- 46:37I don't think Lane knew he was 100% until he caught that ball
- 46:41and and took off because I seen him on the sideline.
- 46:44Like, I always watch the game within the game.
- 46:47Like, I don't just watch the plays.
- 46:49I watch sideline stuff. I watch things that's going on
- 46:52between the plays, kind of offensive lineman talking to
- 46:55each other. But I seen Lane after he caught
- 46:58that pass, it was like he was talking maybe to the other one I
- 47:01received was and he was like I thought I was going to get
- 47:03caught. And you know what I'm saying?
- 47:04He kind of filled it in his hamstring.
- 47:06But he's, I don't think he's 100%, but I think he may be 90%.
- 47:09You know, I don't think he knew that until he he caught that and
- 47:13he turned it on so because he hit another gear when he got
- 47:16that ball. So you know we need that for us
- 47:19to to compete and win, but definitely to compete in this
- 47:23week. Confidence man.
- 47:26Anything else we can do better moving forward?
- 47:29I would say the offensive line was still not great.
- 47:33I think when you look at some of our rushing numbers, it's it's a
- 47:36little bit misleading because we had a ton of big or I would say
- 47:39big, but we had a ton of chunk plays.
- 47:41But in terms of just like, you know, line yards, which is
- 47:44basically like yards that you contribute to offensive line
- 47:47play, it was not great and it has been great for most this
- 47:49year. No, I do think they're getting a
- 47:50little bit better. But there's definitely still
- 47:53some misassignments there. I think our running success had
- 47:55more to do with drones kind of making things happen as well as
- 47:58like I said getting the ball to the perimeter and having those
- 48:01wide receivers block. So I mean because they we had so
- 48:04many tosses to to you know, outside the outside the tackles
- 48:09that it was kind of hard to really attribute that too much
- 48:11to to the online play. I don't know what schematically
- 48:15they they looked at with Pitt, but like every single time they
- 48:17got the ball outside like we had numbers, we just, you know, it's
- 48:19just a matter of blocking it up, right.
- 48:20I wish they did. So obviously a lot of work work
- 48:24to do with devs line, but at the very least the wide receiver
- 48:26blocking was was fantastic. So some good, some bad.
- 48:29Yeah, I think, I think Bowen is figuring out what the team as a
- 48:33whole, from an offensive standpoint does well in terms of
- 48:35the running game and what it what it doesn't do well is just
- 48:39line up and run between the tackles.
- 48:41Yeah. Can I say one thing though about
- 48:43that? He still keeps it honest because
- 48:46there were times he was just it would be Malachi or two, just
- 48:49like Y'all running inside zone. We're going to get about 3
- 48:52yards. If y'all break one, we might get
- 48:545. You can't.
- 48:56You can't have those linebackers just flowing right off the bat,
- 48:59so you got to keep them on us. You got to keep them.
- 49:02On us, but I think we figured out those like 5 or 6 running
- 49:06plays that we can get some positive yards on every time now
- 49:10and we're starting to figure that out and I think that's
- 49:14that's helped the offensive line in terms of the rushing game
- 49:16more than anything else and when you.
- 49:21Things like that make the lineman's job a little bit
- 49:23easier too, so the block's a little bit easier to get there.
- 49:29So you'll see the grades creep up a little bit because of that,
- 49:32too. Now there's still not we don't
- 49:36have any. Yeah, not not a lot of green on
- 49:40that sheet yet, but you know we're starting at least creeping
- 49:42to the yellow on some of those those PFF grades.
- 49:45It's. It's going to be a slow go, but
- 49:48we are seeing some improvement and it's to me, it's been that
- 49:51way since Kyra Jones took out. I still sit here and y'all if we
- 49:55take a look at how we're rushing the ball, we are now, I think,
- 50:00let me see, 125, one to 300 to 500.
- 50:04We're averaging about 170. A game on the ground since
- 50:08Calvin Jones took over 170 is about 40th in the country
- 50:11Rushing the ball. That's that is a crazy a game.
- 50:15That's crazy. Crazy.
- 50:17Because you tell me right now, we're going to rush the ball in
- 50:19the Top 40. I'll take it every year.
- 50:22Every year you take it because you're going to get between
- 50:24somewhere between 170 and 180 a game.
- 50:27People talk and you'll have people that say, well, you
- 50:30played this team on this team, what this and that.
- 50:33We played ODU and couldn't run the ball.
- 50:35Couldn't run the ball against the best 3 defensive We played
- 50:39tally. We've ran our best.
- 50:41We've ran our best against Rutgers, who's a good solid
- 50:44defense. Marshall, who might be the best
- 50:46G5 defense out there, and Pitt, who I said before was a top 15
- 50:51ranked defense or who they play. Don't care.
- 50:54The numbers are the numbers. They played North Carolina.
- 50:57Kept them look at Ron's. Got a husband?
- 50:59I mean, West Virginia is about a slouch team right now.
- 51:02Look at their record all. Right boys, before we get to
- 51:08know the enemy, let's go take a break from our digital partners
- 51:11and Main Street Pharmacy. I can probably save you a lot of
- 51:15money and I can take a lot better care of you.
- 51:17That's pretty much it. My name is Jeremy Counts and I'm
- 51:20a pharmacist. I want to operate Main Street
- 51:22Pharmacy here in downtown Blacksburg.
- 51:24My brother's A pharmacist. I'm a pharmacist.
- 51:26My uncle's A pharmacist. My dad's a pharmacist.
- 51:28I remember he would give me M and M's to count in little pill
- 51:31counters. This is something I've always
- 51:33done, and I'm just lucky that what I know so well is something
- 51:37that I can do and feel good about it and get back to people.
- 51:40Pharmacies are your frontline defense.
- 51:42Pharmacy's job is to make sure you're getting optimal care.
- 51:45For the lowest price possible. Also, we take the pressure off
- 51:49of emergency rooms. I'll tell people immediately
- 51:51when they need to go to the doctor, or I'll tell them if
- 51:52they just need a cream over the counter.
- 51:54If there's something that isn't commercially available, if it's
- 51:57something that's not available in a certain strength or a
- 52:00certain form or anything like that, we'll make it tailor made
- 52:02medications. Some of those options save
- 52:04people a lot of money. What motivates me?
- 52:06I get to take care of people and limit Blacksburg, I thought.
- 52:09Neat. As we take a quick break, we'd
- 52:13like to tell you about getting your free website report from
- 52:16our digital partner, Grassroots Digital Marketing Studio.
- 52:19They'll tell you how your website ranks on Google onsite,
- 52:21SEO and social media. No commitment to buy anything.
- 52:25You can get your free report by visiting grassroots
- 52:27digitalstudio.com/free Dash website Dash Report.
- 52:32Now back to the episode. Alrighty, and we are back, and
- 52:36it is time for know the enemy. As we take a look at the Florida
- 52:41State Seminoles where the Hokies will take on them 330 ABC
- 52:46national prime time game there boys on Saturday afternoon which
- 52:50is tally got baseball tournament this weekend.
- 52:52No. We off.
- 52:55I don't know I might not need to watch this shit we're doing good
- 52:59with. Hey, watch this.
- 53:01Yeah, watch it. That don't matter. 330ABC at the
- 53:04doke. Let's start with the offense, as
- 53:07we always do. Brian.
- 53:08Let's talk about this scheme of Alex Atkins.
- 53:12Yeah, it's that that spread RPO's got a lot of Prostyle
- 53:15elements in it. They run a mostly 11 and 12
- 53:19personnel, heavy dose of 11, but they'll occasionally go 12,
- 53:22especially in, you know those those running situations in
- 53:27terms of the running game, they like to get you a lot of outside
- 53:30zone encounter. They also use the quarterback a
- 53:32really good, good amount. You're going to see a heavy dose
- 53:36of Jordan Travis in this game. They like to use a lot of
- 53:39motion, get favorable matchups in the passing game, use that to
- 53:42confuse the the linebackers and in defensive lineman in terms of
- 53:47the gap responsibilities. So that's what to expect from
- 53:50the offense, yeah. And the first player we'll talk
- 53:54about is the one who's leading the charge, Jordan Travis, the
- 53:57quarterback giving a little background on him.
- 54:00Listed as dual threat quarterback 62, about 185.
- 54:06He's from North Palm Beach, FL. So Florida boy went to the
- 54:10Benjamin school. Don't know a lot of people that
- 54:13have went there, but that's where he went to high school.
- 54:16Out of high school he was ranked about an 85 composite 3 star
- 54:21dual threat athlete. Looks like he was 800 and 89th
- 54:27in the nation back then. Out of high school he had, he
- 54:34had offers from Louisville where he committed to and went, but
- 54:38we'll get into that. Other big ones was Georgia,
- 54:44North Carolina, you know, then he had some small stuff like
- 54:49Rutgers or I say small stuff, but other smaller schools,
- 54:53Rutgers, Southern Miss, UCF. He did ended up, he did end up
- 54:59going to a committee and going to Louisville or he transferred
- 55:04to Florida State a year later. And I don't think he really
- 55:10needs the introduction on what he's been able to do at Florida
- 55:12State. He's been lighting it up.
- 55:15I mean he can, he can run it. He can throw it right now just
- 55:19to give a couple of stats that he has just a second.
- 55:25Got it pulled up here. Couple of stats that he has,
- 55:28he's got 1028 yards passing this year, completion rate of about
- 55:3661. He's got 10 touchdowns and one
- 55:40interception. So he's not turning the ball
- 55:43over a lot or hardly at all right now rushing the ball.
- 55:47He's carried the ball about 23 times.
- 55:49It says he's got 94 yards, 2 touchdowns.
- 55:54Brian, what you got on him? Yeah, I mean he's he's one of
- 55:58the better overall quarterbacks in the country at this point.
- 56:01I'd probably put him at least in kind of that top five,
- 56:05definitely top ten in terms of quarterbacks in the country
- 56:09delivers a good and accurate ball, can really threaten you
- 56:12all over the field. We can throw a deep, pretty
- 56:15accurate in the intermediate game.
- 56:16Really good improvisation. Like I'd say, that's off the
- 56:20charts for him in terms of what he can do when a play breaks
- 56:23down. Whether that's running it or,
- 56:26you know, kind of throwing it off off the off the podium there
- 56:29a little bit. So elite rush stability doesn't
- 56:33run the ball a ton, but when he does, he's very effective with
- 56:36it and definitely the scariest player on that offense overall.
- 56:41Shown any sort of more deep statistics to talk about Jordan
- 56:45Travis with? I would say the biggest thing,
- 56:49obviously is just his experience.
- 56:50I mean, he's been in college for six years.
- 56:52Now he has. 1010 career drop backs, obviously 5th year Forest
- 56:59State. He's gotten better join speaking
- 57:01every year if you look at just his grades and that's not
- 57:04necessarily just you know a reflection of his his actual
- 57:06play but you can tell the stats kind of back up you know how
- 57:09good he is. This one thing I did notice he
- 57:14has the fourth lowest adjusted completion percentage in the
- 57:17ACC. So for all of his accolades and
- 57:20honestly, you know he's got so many.
- 57:22Accuracy has not been necessarily, you would say,
- 57:25great. He also has the lowest
- 57:28percentage of pressures converted into sacks.
- 57:31So basically what that means is when Florida State, even when
- 57:34Florida State gives up pressure, he does not get sacked.
- 57:37So that could be sort of a luck stat, but it could also be the
- 57:41fact that he's able to escape pressure pretty easily and, you
- 57:44know, can also move around a little bit.
- 57:45So take that for what it's worth.
- 57:48All righty. So there's Jordan Travis,
- 57:49obviously, I think it's the name every single person knows.
- 57:52I got a feeling just about every name we talk about here today,
- 57:54everybody's probably going to already know it and that makes
- 57:57the next guy very easy. That's Keyon Coleman.
- 58:01Keyon Coleman, 6 foot four, £215 wide receiver, originally
- 58:05committed and playing for the Michigan State Spartans where he
- 58:11got some definitely some run last year before he came in the
- 58:14portal. His original He was a top 500
- 58:17player, a consensus 4 star down there, and so far this year just
- 58:24that line straight up. 17 receptions, 256, six touchdowns
- 58:29tells me every 3rd ball that man catches, he's getting
- 58:32touchdowns. Brian, what are you selling on
- 58:36him? Yeah, I mean, the thing about
- 58:39with him, he he's, I think they're most dangerous overall
- 58:42wide receiver in terms of just scoring potential there.
- 58:45Has the ability to beat you deep, but what he's really good
- 58:48at and what they've used a lot, he's a red zone threat.
- 58:52I'm good at using his body to position and high point.
- 58:54The ball went in the red area. You know, he's able to get get
- 58:59in the end zone very efficiently.
- 59:02All right, Sheldon, I know you've got some more deeper
- 59:04stats on him. What's some more deeper stats
- 59:06than just that? 17 for 256 and six touchdowns.
- 59:11Yeah. Give me a SEC.
- 59:12I'm. I'm gonna.
- 59:13I'm gonna put up right here. I know that the receivers have
- 59:17graded out pretty well. I'm.
- 59:20Just. Pulling it up.
- 59:22You're good. Well, coming out of college, let
- 59:23me just coming out of high school, He's from Louisiana,
- 59:26excuse me. Yeah, he's from Louisiana.
- 59:29And I mean, when he came out, you talked about the offer list
- 59:32tally for, you know, Jordan, which is pretty solid.
- 59:35I mean, he went to Michigan State, but Baylor?
- 59:38Auburn. Georgia.
- 59:39Florida State originally had an offshore state.
- 59:42He was one of those who are like when Dion was there, was getting
- 59:47recruited by Jackson State. So it wasn't like he wasn't a
- 59:51known, he just went up north. Let's just not talk about
- 59:55actually held a Virginia Tech offer as well.
- 59:57So you know, to be a guy of where he is, where he was rated,
- 1:00:03you know, good player. We always look at offer sheets,
- 1:00:06right? And Shelton getting this stuff
- 1:00:08up and there's sometimes you sit here and wander like this guy's
- 1:00:11getting all these officer, all these programs.
- 1:00:13How is he just barely a four stars?
- 1:00:15How is he is a three star? Especially if you look at Keon
- 1:00:19Cohen's body coming out, he was already like 6 foot £495.
- 1:00:24That's the stuff I don't get. And I know some of it.
- 1:00:26You know, Brian and you and Shelton, we all talk about,
- 1:00:29well, some of it is they're just the best athlete on the field
- 1:00:32where they play. It's just there's no one else in
- 1:00:35there. So there's some people that are
- 1:00:36hesitant to give them a significant bump.
- 1:00:39And then sometimes it's just like, well, you know, he doesn't
- 1:00:43do anything great. He's not a crisp route runner.
- 1:00:46You know, he doesn't have a blazing speed.
- 1:00:48So it's just interesting to see that many offers but you know,
- 1:00:54not the high rating. Because the people who's given
- 1:00:57the ratings are essentially. Me, a guy sitting behind a
- 1:01:03computer doing nothing. I mean, the people who are going
- 1:01:06out and offering scholarships are people who know what an
- 1:01:10offense looks like, know what a player that they can develop and
- 1:01:14put into that offense. And you know, looking at a
- 1:01:17player and say, oh, I can use him to run Jet Sweep with, I can
- 1:01:20use him to, you know, beat the defense.
- 1:01:22Like that's why you're getting offers and maybe you're not
- 1:01:25getting rankings, because the rankings sometimes just have to
- 1:01:29do with what camp should go to. And what amount of money you
- 1:01:34spend to get that ranking. So that's why those rankings
- 1:01:38sometimes are skewed. You good to go, Sheldon.
- 1:01:42Yeah, so nothing super eye popping about Coleman and just
- 1:01:46in terms of kind of the overall stats averages about 15 yards to
- 1:01:50catch 6 touchdowns. Like you said, the one thing he
- 1:01:52does really well is he is shorthanded.
- 1:01:54He does not have a single drop this year in 17 receptions.
- 1:01:59Name. That's pretty good, right?
- 1:02:02He's dropping one Saturday. Thank you.
- 1:02:04Write it down OK. Well, you know how when somebody
- 1:02:07shoot. Well, you know how when somebody
- 1:02:08shooting free throws and then the the commentator goes and
- 1:02:11goes he hadn't missed the free throw in 99 attempts.
- 1:02:14He misses that next one. Thank you, Sheldon.
- 1:02:17We might. Get that up, it's.
- 1:02:20All record, it's all record. We're good.
- 1:02:21It's all record the first inside slant he runs with no safety
- 1:02:25over the top. He's going to break it.
- 1:02:26Watch. All right, let's go to his the
- 1:02:29opposite side of the field. Let's talk about Johnny Wilson.
- 1:02:32Johnny Wilson was a top 120 player coming out of high
- 1:02:37school. He is from Calabasas, CA.
- 1:02:39Class of 2020, originally committed to the Arizona State
- 1:02:43Sun Devils when her was over there.
- 1:02:46So far this season, You know well the last couple seasons, I
- 1:02:51mean last season he went for almost 900 yards, 20 yards a
- 1:02:56reception, which is pretty good. And this year 303 yards on 16.
- 1:03:01No touchdowns though. So definitely you would think
- 1:03:05it's 6 foot seven, £225.00 that he would be slightly more of a
- 1:03:10red zone target, but I guess not.
- 1:03:12But Siegler, what's the what's the tape?
- 1:03:14Why doesn't he have any touchdowns?
- 1:03:17He's kind of the classic big slot guy, like, you know, you
- 1:03:20see those big slot receivers matchup nightmares.
- 1:03:23He's that guy, but he's more of that guy in the in the between
- 1:03:28the 20s, right? He's not really a burner, but
- 1:03:32he's super shifty, moves really well for his size, use him on a
- 1:03:37lot of crossers, digs, seams. So they're getting him up the
- 1:03:41field. They're not using him.
- 1:03:44On like fades or anything like that, even in the middle of the
- 1:03:46field. So you don't see that really
- 1:03:48called in the red zone either for him.
- 1:03:49He's he's definitely eats kind of in that intermediate middle
- 1:03:53of the of the offense. That's where they like to
- 1:03:56attack. And what do you got on him,
- 1:04:00Sheldon? Yeah, another solid player.
- 1:04:02Again, nothing super exceptional.
- 1:04:05Average is about 19 yards per catch, which is pretty good, and
- 1:04:08he also ranks 27th in the Power Five in terms of average depth
- 1:04:12of target, about 16 yards. So it did definitely a lot of
- 1:04:16downfield routes for him, Yeah, Makes sense when Brian says he
- 1:04:19looks at tape and sees those crossers, the digs in the seam,
- 1:04:22so that that that's pretty good to know that he is not going to
- 1:04:26be, I think when you're planning the defense, right?
- 1:04:29OK, Wilson's not going to be up on the line.
- 1:04:32However you're going to play him, whether it be bracket,
- 1:04:35maybe a robber or take your Best, and maybe Jenkins.
- 1:04:40I mean, Brian could y'all see Jenkins cover him.
- 1:04:45Not all game, not all game. Like I said, he moves pretty
- 1:04:49well for a for a big guy. All righty, let's talk about the
- 1:04:54offensive line. Next Brian and I want to talk
- 1:04:56about one guy Cuz again in the era of the transfer portal,
- 1:05:00these stories like this are going to come up more and more
- 1:05:05and more and the highest graded offensive lineman has been
- 1:05:10Blessed Harris or the the highest for LSU and Clemson was
- 1:05:13blessed Harris. He's from New Orleans, LA.
- 1:05:16He's from Saint Augustine. He was the class of 2018 so
- 1:05:19everybody do that 181920212223 sixth year.
- 1:05:25Y'all know where he played his ball for the first Four Seasons.
- 1:05:30Where Lamar. I know where Lamar is cuz I
- 1:05:35don't. Texas.
- 1:05:37Texas. Thank you, Shelton, with that.
- 1:05:39Only cuz I have no life but. Yeah.
- 1:05:43Hey, I know where some schools are, some schools I don't.
- 1:05:46But he played there for Four Seasons and then transfers to
- 1:05:49Florida State and is clearly tearing it up.
- 1:05:52But Brian, let's talk about the offensive line in general, not
- 1:05:56just Bless. What are you seeing from them?
- 1:06:00Yeah, I mean I think the big thing is that they're a good
- 1:06:03offensive line, not a great offensive line.
- 1:06:05You would, you know, you think with Florida states on the class
- 1:06:08they brought in, they'd be a little bit more stacked.
- 1:06:10They're, they're good, not great.
- 1:06:12They occasionally struggle to get to the second level of the
- 1:06:14defense. So you'll, you know potentially
- 1:06:18you'll, you'll see more chunk plays from their running backs
- 1:06:21than necessarily those really big gainers, those explosive
- 1:06:24plays. It's going to be kind of the
- 1:06:26chunk plays like we saw against Pitt last week there was 8 to 12
- 1:06:30yards consistently. That's where they kind of like
- 1:06:33eating eat in the in the running game is in that area have more
- 1:06:38success with the quarterback zone zone read keepers and they
- 1:06:45they they do occasionally get confused when you disguise the
- 1:06:47pressure. So that's some opportunity that
- 1:06:49we may have there. Getting in the backfield and
- 1:06:51getting after Jordan Travis. But as Shelton said that that
- 1:06:54still you know, doesn't mean that you're going to have
- 1:06:56success because Travis is very elusive in the backfield.
- 1:07:01You're not going to get a lot of lot of sacks against him, even
- 1:07:04if you are getting in the backfield.
- 1:07:07So I know you told me you had some more stuff on this
- 1:07:09offensive line. What's the data telling us?
- 1:07:12Are they just an average offensive line with an
- 1:07:14exceptional eluding quarterback? I would say a little bit of
- 1:07:19both. They're definitely, I would say
- 1:07:21above average. So you look at Bless Harris, he
- 1:07:24has the best pass blocking grade in the ACC according to PFF.
- 1:07:29You got Darius Washington, the center slash right tackle.
- 1:07:31He's kind of been switched around a little bit, 0 pressures
- 1:07:34allowed and 68 pass rushing opportunities.
- 1:07:36So he's their highest credit OL. And then, you know, you've also
- 1:07:42got Maurice Smith at center. Who's been actually pretty lowly
- 1:07:45graded. He's come back from injury,
- 1:07:46missed a couple of games, Jeremiah buyers.
- 1:07:49The right title has not been great.
- 1:07:50He's a UTEP transfer. So when you look at it, it's a
- 1:07:53little bit of a patchwork offensive line.
- 1:07:55Obviously the the big thing that Novell had to do when it came to
- 1:07:57FSU is is revamp that offensive line.
- 1:08:00That was just atrocious under under Taggart.
- 1:08:02I think that was the biggest reason that you saw Florida
- 1:08:05State, Conn struggle his first two years.
- 1:08:07Kind of like Coach Prize doing here at Virginia Tech now.
- 1:08:11It is a very, very hard position group to fix overnight.
- 1:08:14And so they're they've been kind of going through some growing
- 1:08:17pains. You take some guys from lower
- 1:08:19levels, try to fit them in. It's it's not always smooth.
- 1:08:22So it's definitely good offensive line.
- 1:08:23I would say you look at some of the passing stats there, 8th
- 1:08:27nationally in EPA on passing attempts.
- 1:08:30So the pass protection has been good.
- 1:08:33Obviously Jordan, Travis has a lot to do with that.
- 1:08:36But overall, I would say it's definitely.
- 1:08:40It's definitely not off the line that you think you might get
- 1:08:42dominated by. I think Travis really kind of
- 1:08:44makes them, makes them click. That makes a lot of sense there.
- 1:08:49It makes a lot of sense there. I mean, and I think we will
- 1:08:52consider this is clearly the best offense we will set seen
- 1:08:56all season, the most dynamic offense we've seen all season.
- 1:08:59So as good as Chris Mark called last weekend, he's got to
- 1:09:03actually take it up a couple levels this weekend to keep us
- 1:09:06in this game. I don't think any of us will
- 1:09:08disagree with that. Now let's switch to defense and
- 1:09:11let's talk about the four three defense, Brian, who's it led by?
- 1:09:18Yeah, we got defensive coordinator Adam Fuller.
- 1:09:22It's a it's a four, three. But they use a lot of hybrid
- 1:09:24players, especially the front seven there.
- 1:09:27They've got that that Fox DN position, that kind of stand up
- 1:09:31defensive end and then they use a hybrid linebacker.
- 1:09:35You know, we call our star this There's a stud.
- 1:09:38A stud linebacker. So that's what you can expect
- 1:09:41from this defense, you know, 4, three kind of standard.
- 1:09:44You mean you call, you call it a hybrid?
- 1:09:45It could be, you know, leaning to that 425 look, the way they
- 1:09:48use that stud linebacker. But yeah, it's not.
- 1:09:52It's not something that we haven't seen before.
- 1:09:55Alrighty. Yeah, when you talk about that
- 1:09:58Fox defensive end and also talk about the transfers coming from
- 1:10:03lower levels like we've been talking about, you got to throw
- 1:10:05the name Jared Verse in there. Jared Verse was a class of 2020
- 1:10:12Nineteen guy and he played his ball at Albany before he
- 1:10:16transferred. That's in Albany.
- 1:10:20Great Danes, that's. That's he plays.
- 1:10:23Curtis, do that one. He didn't even have a rating.
- 1:10:26Coming out of high school, there was no rating.
- 1:10:29It says. He had one offer, which was
- 1:10:31Albany coming out of high school, and he transferred to
- 1:10:35Florida State. Where he has been, and if you
- 1:10:40just look at the stats, his stats are not eye popping at
- 1:10:44all. I think he's got 11 tackles this
- 1:10:47year. He's got 11 tackles, half of a
- 1:10:49sack. Last year he had about 47
- 1:10:54tackles and 9 sacks. The reason that his stats are
- 1:10:58not eye popping this year, it's kind of like we talked about
- 1:11:01before we came on. People are running away from
- 1:11:04him. Don't let them stats fool you.
- 1:11:06If you go watch him on tape, he is very disruptive.
- 1:11:08Brian, what you got on Jared Burst?
- 1:11:11Yeah, he's that Fox DN. They use him to set the edge
- 1:11:14rush the pastor on the on the stunt looks usually in the stand
- 1:11:19up position. He will put his hand in the dirt
- 1:11:22though. Use him a lot to play games with
- 1:11:25the alvens of line and quarterback.
- 1:11:27Get them confused, getting them thinking, getting the
- 1:11:30quarterback speed up a little bit.
- 1:11:32I mean he's all about controlling the gap at the run
- 1:11:34game versus penetrating. He's not a guy that's going to,
- 1:11:37you know, fly out field or anything like that, but he's
- 1:11:39going to hold his gap play pretty, pretty sound technique
- 1:11:44and he's really good at really doing all those things.
- 1:11:47Probably the best overall defensive player arguably in the
- 1:11:50conference. Like you said, he doesn't
- 1:11:53necessarily jump off of the stat sheet, but when he's on the
- 1:11:56field you you find him, he jumps off the off the tape real quick.
- 1:12:03Yeah, Boston College, when you looked at that game, they
- 1:12:06essentially had success running away from him, getting the ball
- 1:12:09outside of him, kind of taking away his ability to impact the
- 1:12:13running game. And they will occasionally use
- 1:12:16him in coverage. They'll call some some zone
- 1:12:18blitzes and he'll be out there in the flats or covering a guy
- 1:12:21one-on-one. So look for that as well and
- 1:12:23it's and it's funny because you know Tally, you talked about him
- 1:12:27being in Albany and again it's that it's the portal thing.
- 1:12:30We keep talking about it, we keep talking about it, we keep
- 1:12:32harping on it. If you go look up right now, the
- 1:12:35NFL draft Jared verse is going to be taken really high next
- 1:12:39year, really high. So at all different levels
- 1:12:43there, these guys just waiting, go find them.
- 1:12:46And you know, obviously, I think with some of our coaches
- 1:12:51especially like the Lackawanna Connections and guys who have
- 1:12:54coached all over the country over their careers, we do have
- 1:12:57that opportunity. All right, Brian, I'm going to
- 1:13:00pitch it to you next. Let's talk about Kaylin Deloach,
- 1:13:04linebacker, 6 foot 226 pounds out of Savannah, GA and Allen's
- 1:13:11high school. Now he was an original commit to
- 1:13:14Florida State back in 2019 and a pretty highly rated, wasn't it,
- 1:13:17That was the top 247 player, Composite 91.
- 1:13:22And I mean, look at his offer list, it's unreal.
- 1:13:24Florida State, Auburn, MI, Alabama, Clemson SC.
- 1:13:28I could go on and on and if you take a look at some of the guys
- 1:13:32that were his primary recruiters, Kevin Steele, Don
- 1:13:37Brown when he was a DC, Michigan.
- 1:13:39Pete Golden, the old DC Bama, Brent Venables at Clemson, they
- 1:13:44didn't put their trash on him. They put their number one guys
- 1:13:48to recruit this kid and Brian. Tell us a little bit more about
- 1:13:51Caitlin. Yeah.
- 1:13:53So he's going to be the second hybrid player on this defense.
- 1:13:56It's on this list that we're talking about right now.
- 1:13:58So he's the he's the stud linebacker primarily aligns to
- 1:14:03to the field side of the formation.
- 1:14:06A typical you know run like a linebacker cover like a DB type
- 1:14:10build that you like to see. When he's on the nub side, he'll
- 1:14:16be in the box and. That likes to walk out on the
- 1:14:21wide receiver playing that field side and when he's lot, you
- 1:14:25know, wide, he becomes a fourth, fourth player in the defense and
- 1:14:28they use him a lot heavy and blitzes from that position.
- 1:14:32But also he's really good in coverage as well.
- 1:14:35And he's having himself a really good season, statistical wise,
- 1:14:37to 17 total tackles, 10 solo, 3 sacks and another tackle and 1/2
- 1:14:44for loss, along with a forced fumble and a forced fumble
- 1:14:48return for a touchdown, 56 yards.
- 1:14:51Tells you the kid is super athletic.
- 1:14:52All right, we're going to hit one more player on the defensive
- 1:14:56side of the ball, and that is a here Thomas the defensive back,
- 1:15:03another straight up Florida State player.
- 1:15:05And this kid is one of these elites.
- 1:15:07He's a class of 2022. He was a top 100 player.
- 1:15:12He rated at a 96. Same way you look at his offer
- 1:15:15list, it's all over the place. It's just about every school you
- 1:15:19can think of. He was a stud coming out of high
- 1:15:22school and obviously if we're mentioning it here, he's been in
- 1:15:25college for what, two years and he's already making a pretty big
- 1:15:29impact. Brian, what do you got to take
- 1:15:31about this 6 foot, 280 plus pound defensive back?
- 1:15:38Yeah, he lines up as their field corner primarily.
- 1:15:41He's really the best cover corner on the team.
- 1:15:43There's really not a close comparison, Holds up really well
- 1:15:48in man, end zone, willing tackler, nothing to write home
- 1:15:52about. But you know he's not afraid to
- 1:15:54get his head in there and and and get guys down in the run
- 1:15:56game. Sometimes I'd say he's too
- 1:15:59reliant on his instincts, but when they pay off, he's in there
- 1:16:04making a big play, whether it's a breakup.
- 1:16:07Getting an interception, whatever it may be.
- 1:16:09He does a really good job of trusting his instincts and and
- 1:16:12making those type of plays very nice.
- 1:16:14Yeah, and you talk about the past breakups.
- 1:16:16He's already got four and four games this year, so he is
- 1:16:19definitely Johnny on the spot. Sheldon, you've got a couple
- 1:16:22data points you want to give about this defense in general.
- 1:16:25What is some of the deeper data points telling us?
- 1:16:29Sure. So the biggest red flag for for
- 1:16:32the state they ranked 111th and Rush Defense EPA.
- 1:16:36So. They had a pretty porous rush
- 1:16:38defense overall. Now their past defense, which
- 1:16:43I'm looking at the numbers here, is much better.
- 1:16:45Their 21st and past defense, just the the EPA.
- 1:16:48So the analytical stuff. So run defense is good or excuse
- 1:16:52me, run defense is poor, Pass defense is very good.
- 1:16:54I think the biggest thing that stuck out to me when looking at
- 1:16:56Florida State, they are not elite at really anything, but
- 1:17:01they're pretty much good at everything.
- 1:17:03So I think that's to me that's a testament of coaching.
- 1:17:06Like when you look across the board there's nothing that they
- 1:17:08really dominate but they're just consistently thought of almost
- 1:17:11every position group and every, every unit.
- 1:17:14It's just it's it's not it's a team that that just doesn't have
- 1:17:18a lot of holes. So and you can you can tell why
- 1:17:21they're so successful. They just, they just do
- 1:17:23everything pretty, pretty solid and that's why they're they're
- 1:17:26so tough to be. Yeah, in, in, in Shelton, you
- 1:17:29looked at some of the deeper data and I looked at some of the
- 1:17:31old school data. The yards are true.
- 1:17:35They are 95th in the country in total defense.
- 1:17:37They are giving up about 400 yards a game.
- 1:17:40And then you take a look at scoring defense, 52nd, 3rd down,
- 1:17:47conversion, 49th. That's middle of the pack.
- 1:17:49There are two places they excel, though, that I consider
- 1:17:52excelling. It's in their top.
- 1:17:53They're in the top 20 Sachs per game, obviously.
- 1:17:56Jared Verse, you mentioned him there.
- 1:17:58Couple other good players and the other one is red Zone D They
- 1:18:02are in the top 20 in that they are giving up less touchdowns or
- 1:18:08they're giving up less red zone scores than by 11 out of 17.
- 1:18:12So that means you get down there, it's not guaranteed.
- 1:18:15And if you take a look at the sack numbers, it kind of makes
- 1:18:17sense also with the turnover numbers as well.
- 1:18:21All righty boys, we're going to get into the keys now and I'm
- 1:18:25going to pitch to each one of y'all because I think we are
- 1:18:28consensus on this. For the Hokies to win this game,
- 1:18:31it's going to have to be a perfect game.
- 1:18:33Florida State is a elite. I mean, this year, an elite
- 1:18:37team. Do they have some flaws?
- 1:18:39Yeah, they do. So Tally, I'm going to pitch to
- 1:18:44you first. What is one of the Hokie key of
- 1:18:47the biggest Hokie key for you? For me, I'll say just getting
- 1:18:50drones in space. You know, letting him be
- 1:18:52himself, you know, get roll out the pocket RPO's, bootlegs,
- 1:18:59they're going to have to move that that pocket around because
- 1:19:03he's going to have pressure coming from everywhere.
- 1:19:06So that's going to be my biggest key.
- 1:19:08All right, Sheldon, what about you?
- 1:19:13Man, I would say stay on schedule.
- 1:19:20Florida State is just again look at the numbers here.
- 1:19:23So they are actually not great defensively on 1st and 2nd down
- 1:19:26in terms of success rate. So if you can, you know stay
- 1:19:30ahead of the stakes, get them on 1st and 2nd, you know that'll
- 1:19:33set you up in a good spot. I think for me, you know people
- 1:19:36often talk about third down conversion percentage and well I
- 1:19:40do think it's a valuable stat. I think it's a lot, a lot of
- 1:19:43times disinterpreted. The the teams that the best
- 1:19:46teams, the best offices are the ones that are successful on 1st
- 1:19:49and 2nd down. It's not about third down.
- 1:19:51You want to avoid third down. You want to be successful on 1st
- 1:19:53and 2nd so you can set yourself up ideally for you know easier
- 1:19:59third downs. So that's one area where firstly
- 1:20:01struggles. I think if tech can, you know,
- 1:20:04get the running in going and and be successful in those really
- 1:20:06downs, they'll be in a pretty good spot.
- 1:20:10Ron, what about you? Yeah, I think the big thing for
- 1:20:14me is forced turnovers against this team.
- 1:20:18If we can force them to turn the ball over, then I think that's
- 1:20:22going to set us up and put us in a good position.
- 1:20:24They haven't really turned the ball over that much all season.
- 1:20:273 total turnovers. I think we need to get two in
- 1:20:30this game to really have a chance to be competitive as we
- 1:20:34get down the stretch there in the in the fourth quarter so we
- 1:20:37can turn them over twice. We can put ourselves to be
- 1:20:40competitive towards the end. If not, it might be a long
- 1:20:42contest. It might be if that's the case,
- 1:20:45and I'm going to kind of piggyback, and this is both on
- 1:20:47the desensive side of this is on the defensive side of the ball
- 1:20:49as well. Keep them in front of you, keep
- 1:20:52them in front of you. They are obviously a big pass
- 1:20:55play team. You can see with Coleman's
- 1:20:57numbers, you can see with the averages, like Shelton talked
- 1:20:59about there with Johnny Wilson and where, how deep down the
- 1:21:03field he's catching the ball, you've got to force them to
- 1:21:06drive. It can't be one or two big plays
- 1:21:10and they're in scoring range. It's got to be 7-8 plays.
- 1:21:15It's got to be 4 to 7 yards to play, not ten to 15.
- 1:21:20We've got to keep them in front of us.
- 1:21:22Now, you know, I also, you know here in Shelton talk about some
- 1:21:26of the stuff he's talked about too.
- 1:21:29And knowing that some of their data is they do have some
- 1:21:32struggles. How tough is it going to be?
- 1:21:35What are we going to have to do? Because I'm one of these.
- 1:21:38This is this goes back to the old days of Georgia Tech.
- 1:21:41I I I'd rather live by death from 1000 cuts and just get
- 1:21:44bludgeoned real quick. Give me some hope.
- 1:21:47Give me some hope. Keep the explosive plays away.
- 1:21:51All righty. What?
- 1:21:51We're going to have our predictions and let's talk big
- 1:21:53screeners, which is presented by Prize picks.

- 1:22:12My 2 plays This week I stick home with my 49ers George Kettle
- 1:22:16against the Cowboys over 39 1/2 yards.
- 1:22:19They can be worried more about Debo and I uke and Travis Kelsey
- 1:22:23versus the worst passing defense in the league.
- 1:22:26Get him a touchdown versus the Vikings.
- 1:22:29Yes, we're trying to get on the Taylor Swift train as well

- 1:22:53BT Picks. Last week, Brian and Tally did
- 1:22:58not have good weeks. Hang ahead and shame me and
- 1:23:00Shelton ended. I ain't had a good week all
- 1:23:02year. Brian 1/4 and 1, tally 1/4 and
- 1:23:061. Shelton leading last week for
- 1:23:08one and one and I was at 3, two and one.
- 1:23:12Brian put three. I thought we had to hook on the
- 1:23:15Louisville game, the half which would have gave us some wins,
- 1:23:19but Brian did not. So is what it is.
- 1:23:23So. We'll talk talk you a little
- 1:23:24early. You did, you called it Tally.
- 1:23:29We'll start with you. What's your prediction on the
- 1:23:32hokey game? And you know, since we're doing
- 1:23:34a point spread, what's point spread for the hokey game run
- 1:23:37right now? 25 When we picked it was a. 2424
- 1:23:43OK, so tally who wins, What's the score and do the hokeys
- 1:23:47cover? I got the I got the hokeys
- 1:23:49covering in this game, I think. I think I'm right at what,
- 1:23:53404221? Something like that.
- 1:23:58I got the hokeys covering but. Florida State taking it if you
- 1:24:01go on money line. All right.
- 1:24:03Brian, what about you? I'm right there with Tally.
- 1:24:08I've got the the Seminoles winning.
- 1:24:12I got the Hokies covering. I think it's going to be closer
- 1:24:15than a lot of people think. I think we're going to get a
- 1:24:18couple things that go our way. I think we're going to let let
- 1:24:21our nuts hang as a staff and as a team a little bit.
- 1:24:24Put it all out there. Because why not?
- 1:24:26It's FSU. But I think, I think it's going
- 1:24:31to be around A3828 win for the Seminoles.
- 1:24:35All right, tell them. What about you?
- 1:24:37Give me the Hokies. I just got a gut feel they might
- 1:24:41get a late touchdown back door cover.
- 1:24:43I'll. I'll take the Hokies.
- 1:24:45All righty FSU winning, though, right?
- 1:24:50Or Hokies winning. Yeah.
- 1:24:52FSU winning. Yes.
- 1:24:53Yes. OK, OK.
- 1:24:54OK, I don't want people to be screaming at you next week.
- 1:24:59You said the hoagies are going to win like.
- 1:25:02We already had that week one guys.
- 1:25:04We had that week 1, All right, I am with y'all.
- 1:25:09I think FSU is going to win the game.
- 1:25:11I've got 4127, so I do have BT covered.
- 1:25:15I think it's going to be a more exciting game.
- 1:25:19I think it's going to be one of those games.
- 1:25:20We're going to the fourth quarter, We're going to be down
- 1:25:23like 10, maybe 14 and and they're going to put us away.
- 1:25:28But we're going to probably spring back and get one
- 1:25:31additional score to make it look a little bit better than what it
- 1:25:33should be. This is like a litmus test game,
- 1:25:36right? You're playing one of the best
- 1:25:38teams in the country. You're playing in their house.
- 1:25:41How do you stack up? How do you stack up?
- 1:25:45I look forward to seeing it 3:30 on Saturday afternoon.
- 1:25:51And now we've got our big screeners, and I'm leaving this
- 1:25:54one off because it's always I'm not going to be able to see it
- 1:25:57because of course we've got baseball.
- 1:25:59But the Red River Shootout? Yes, the Red River Shootout.
- 1:26:03It's always be the Red River Shootout.
- 1:26:05Never The Red River Rivalry. Oklahoma, Texas, Texas, laying 6
- 1:26:101/2 points and I'm going Oklahoma 49.
- 1:26:14Nothing last year. I think it's going to stick in
- 1:26:16Chris Venables head. I, Brian, didn't change that
- 1:26:18shit. I told you change that shit.
- 1:26:20Pay attention to the text messages.
- 1:26:22So Oklahoma plus 6 1/2. I called his ass out.
- 1:26:28I I forgot how bad last year was.
- 1:26:30I was. OK, OK, I must have looked at
- 1:26:34the wrong text man. I did see him sending that text.
- 1:26:37I thank you, Charlie. I sent Texas originally.
- 1:26:39I said you know what that blow out last year that don't sit
- 1:26:43right. Venables ain't gonna let them
- 1:26:44get blown out again. Oklahoma.
- 1:26:49It's all right. We we can tell you how I'm post
- 1:26:51editing. We'll take it out.
- 1:26:52Yeah. Who's got it next?
- 1:26:54Sheldon? No, no, no.
- 1:26:55Excuse me, Tally, who you got in this?
- 1:26:56Game. You can move that Texas right
- 1:26:58over to my name cuz I got Texas. I got Texas winning and covered
- 1:27:02in that game. All right.
- 1:27:04What about you, Sheldon? Yeah give me Texas.
- 1:27:07I just I really like their team and they're they keep rising in
- 1:27:11the in the metrics. I just I'm I'm I'm loving Stark.
- 1:27:14So I'll take Texas. Well, apparently I went with
- 1:27:18Curtis unknowingly here because I I got the Sooners keeping this
- 1:27:21closer than I think a lot of people think.
- 1:27:23I think it's going to come down to one of those those last drive
- 1:27:26deals. I think they keep it close about
- 1:27:28a three-point win for Texas. So I think they end up, you
- 1:27:31know, winning it out, right? But oh, you going to keep it
- 1:27:35close there? Alrighty.
- 1:27:37Well, let's next go to Louisville.
- 1:27:40I think Tally chose this game not only because it's going to
- 1:27:43be a good game, probably, but he's heading there in about a
- 1:27:45month. I'm not going anymore.
- 1:27:48What happened? I just got too much to do, man.
- 1:27:51And and and we was, and we was horrible at the beginning of the
- 1:27:54year. So I counseled my room and had
- 1:27:57to do some other stuff. We got $1600 just going to
- 1:28:01baseball for my son, for high school baseball.
- 1:28:03So I was like, yeah, we need to calm down a little bit.
- 1:28:06All right, well, tally, what you got here?
- 1:28:08Notre Dame laying 6 1/2 a home. Or excuse me, a road favorite.
- 1:28:12I got Notre Dame, man. I got Notre Dame winning this
- 1:28:15thing and covering again. I just, they played a lot of
- 1:28:20close games. But I just think that, you know,
- 1:28:23Louisville is they're going to catch up to Louisville on this
- 1:28:25one and and they're going to win.
- 1:28:27And I say they went about about win about 10 points, something
- 1:28:31like that 10 point win there. Alrighty.
- 1:28:36Who next to Shelton who you got in this game?
- 1:28:40Yes, I will go Louisville. I think Notre Dame's coming off
- 1:28:44a very emotional win. They're going to have a little
- 1:28:47bit of let down. Give me the cards to cover.
- 1:28:51All righty. Who's next here?
- 1:28:53Brian, you are next on this one. It's got to be Notre Dame, man.
- 1:28:59You know, looking at this team, I, I, I know they played a
- 1:29:01couple close games, but I think Louisville got shown for what
- 1:29:05they were last week and I think we're going to see more of that
- 1:29:08this week. Notre Dame.
- 1:29:10That right there. That right there is exactly why
- 1:29:14it's Notre Dame lay the six and a half.
- 1:29:18Louisville got shown a lot plumber came tumbling back to
- 1:29:22earth against NC State and if NC State had a decent quarterback,
- 1:29:27they would have beat them by multiple touchdowns.
- 1:29:29I think Notre Dame, yes, it was Sheldon, you're right.
- 1:29:31It was an emotional victory because it was a some crazy
- 1:29:35things that happened at the end of that game against Duke.
- 1:29:38But I think this is going to be 1 where for the first time all
- 1:29:42year Notre Dame isn't going to see an opposing defense like the
- 1:29:47likes of the way Dukes coached to be so fun, sound, sound
- 1:29:50fundamentally and nowhere near the talent that Ohio State has.
- 1:29:55All right, who we got, Brian, you got the next one.
- 1:29:58You got Maryland and Ohio State. This is a massive line of Ohio
- 1:30:03State laying 20 points. Yeah, this is one that I
- 1:30:09couldn't wait to get on there. You know, Maryland's looks
- 1:30:11pretty good overall at this point in the season.
- 1:30:15Ohio State's been kind of up and down.
- 1:30:17That 20 just was a little too much for me.
- 1:30:19So give me Maryland to cover here.
- 1:30:23All righty. I'm on the opposite side of you.
- 1:30:25Give me the Buckeyes and lay the 20.
- 1:30:29I feel like a Maryland defense is going to be a get right game
- 1:30:33for Ohio State's offense. I mean, I know Ohio State will
- 1:30:36give up a few points here and there, but it's to me, it's
- 1:30:40good. The usual Maryland show, the
- 1:30:41first time they have a big competitor they're going to,
- 1:30:44they're going to wither up in the face of adversity.
- 1:30:47So give me Ohio State tally, who you got on this one?
- 1:30:50We got two teams that I both hate, so I wish both of them
- 1:30:53could lose, but I'm going to take Maryland.
- 1:30:56I think Maryland's going to lose, but I don't think they're
- 1:30:59going to lose by more than 20 points.
- 1:31:01I think it may be a 14 point win for Ohio State.
- 1:31:04You know, somewhere around 1314 point win Alrighty, Sheldon.
- 1:31:09Given the Terps, I think they've got a really good offense.
- 1:31:12I love what Locksley's doing over there.
- 1:31:13He's got Josh Gaddis as his OC, who came over from Alabama and
- 1:31:17Miami. Really good, really good
- 1:31:19offensive mind. So I'll, I'll take Maryland.
- 1:31:22I just love their offense. Alrighty, there we go.
- 1:31:26We got a lot of three on ones, except for that Texas.
- 1:31:29Oh, you game. Let's go to Shelton's game of
- 1:31:32the week. Shelton, you've got Alabama and
- 1:31:35Texas A and M Alabama, a small Rd. favorite at 2 1/2.
- 1:31:39Who do you got in this one? I'll take Alabama at Texas A and
- 1:31:43M without their starting quarterback Wegman, who got
- 1:31:46injured well, a little while back.
- 1:31:49I think Alabama's gonna come with somebody approved, so I
- 1:31:51will take a mad Nick Saban team anytime, Brian.
- 1:31:56Yeah, I'm going Bama here. They're still in desperation
- 1:31:59mode They they still haven't quite figured it all out.
- 1:32:03But I think with what what's going on at A and MI think
- 1:32:07they're going to get have just enough to to to cover that 2
- 1:32:101/2. We'll see.
- 1:32:11I'd say about a six, six to seven point win for the Crimson
- 1:32:15Tide here. Yeah, I'm with y'all, I'm with
- 1:32:18y'all Bam. That's a small number to lay,
- 1:32:22especially with the A and M starting quarterback out and
- 1:32:24with A and M the only to me, they they play 2 good teams.
- 1:32:29They beat Auburn, which the way Auburn played against Georgia
- 1:32:33last week. I'm I'm still trying to figure
- 1:32:34out that game and they played Miami and they got boat race
- 1:32:38starting in the second quarter to the rest of the game.
- 1:32:40So Alabama covers. I think they win by like 10
- 1:32:43plus. Tell them what about you?
- 1:32:46Yeah, I got Alabama, too. I think Alabama's got a similar
- 1:32:50I don't want to say so. They got a young quarterback,
- 1:32:53You know, they got a young quarterback that they got to run
- 1:32:55the right place for. Alabama fans have been so
- 1:33:00blessed to have Heisman Trophy after first round pick after
- 1:33:06Heisman Trophy. You know every year that they
- 1:33:08get a little bit adversity against a great Texas team, Man,
- 1:33:12Texas beat them about 10 points and they tried to change it up
- 1:33:14and then go back to their quarterback, which had a really
- 1:33:18good. Week last week, I think they're
- 1:33:20going to continue. They continue.
- 1:33:22Put them in the position to to be successful.
- 1:33:25They're going to be, they're going to be hard to beat.
- 1:33:28Alrighty. So those are our four big
- 1:33:30screeners and the one we always throw in here just for fun.
- 1:33:34This week we're going down to Athens.
- 1:33:36Between the hedges. Georgia and Kentucky, both
- 1:33:41undefeated, both ranked in the top 20.
- 1:33:43Kentucky coming off they beat the absolute piss out of
- 1:33:48Florida. Yeah, they did.
- 1:33:49I mean, I walked in and turned that game on after baseball, and
- 1:33:53it's like 28, three. It's just like, I thought
- 1:33:56Florida's supposed to be good. Billy Napier getting fired this
- 1:33:58year. I'm gonna go ahead and make that
- 1:33:59right there. All right, Sheldon.
- 1:34:02No, Brian, lead us off here. I think it's Bama, or excuse me,
- 1:34:05Georgia 14 1/2. What you got?
- 1:34:08I've got Kentucky covered this one.
- 1:34:10I think this is going to be a little bit closer than folks
- 1:34:13think. I think it's going to be about a
- 1:34:1410 point game. I think Georgia is a very, very,
- 1:34:18very good team, but they're not a blow the doors off.
- 1:34:22A team is playing as well as Kentucky is right now.
- 1:34:24Type team yet I don't think they're that good but with it
- 1:34:28being in Athens I've I've got to give Georgia the benefit of the
- 1:34:31doubt. I think they win this game by
- 1:34:33about 17. I'll lay the 14 1/2 with Georgia
- 1:34:40tally. I'm going to go Kentucky, man,
- 1:34:43Georgia's been. Georgia's been a little suspect,
- 1:34:46man, with everybody they played. They kind of, you know, just
- 1:34:49been slipping by. So I think that Georgia, you
- 1:34:52know, it's going to be similar to the game they were, they
- 1:34:54played Auburn this week or last week, you know, going to be a
- 1:34:58late touchdown for the win for them.
- 1:35:01So I think Georgia wins, but they don't cover.
- 1:35:03Georgia wins, they don't cover. Sheldon, what about you?
- 1:35:07Yes, give me Georgia. Kentucky coming off a big win
- 1:35:11last week. Georgia coming off a tough,
- 1:35:13close win. Last week as well.
- 1:35:17I think those fortunes are going to reverse.
- 1:35:19And I'm going to take the dogs. Big dogs.
- 1:35:22Big in Athens. Alrighty.
- 1:35:26Well, that is our big screeners for the week.
- 1:35:28Again, prize pics. Click the QR code so they can
- 1:35:33match. You go out, make yourself some
- 1:35:34money there, boys. Has anything, bro?
- 1:35:38Hey, look, just stay here Now. In 40 minutes.
- 1:35:40We did good tonight. We ready to roll?
- 1:35:44There we go. It's always good podcasting
- 1:35:47after a a big win like that, so everything tastes better,
- 1:35:51everything sound better, it's. True, man.
- 1:35:54It's just good to get a win, man.
- 1:35:56It's good to get a win. And you know what?
- 1:35:58It's good to get a win like that, though.
- 1:36:01Oh yeah, it's it's the win like that.
- 1:36:03Because Tally's been mentioned in big losses, small losses,
- 1:36:10little wins, then big wins, well, we jumped up and we went
- 1:36:14big win 17 points. I mean there was a 14 point game
- 1:36:18out of the third quarter, only considered a blowout but went
- 1:36:21about 17 against anybody still good.
- 1:36:25It could have been a blowout. We were this close to a blowout
- 1:36:28if we didn't had that 5 minute fuck up, five second fuck up.
- 1:36:31But yeah, it's always that good feeling.
- 1:36:34So anything else to add Shelton Tally, Brian?
- 1:36:41I'm just going to say like, like Curtis said last week, man,
- 1:36:44Coach had to let his nuts hang on somebody's face and I'm glad
- 1:36:48it was Nardooshi. So good job, coach.
- 1:36:51Yes, I did say that tally was the only one.
- 1:36:54To hang the nuts on the face, there was tea baggery in the BC.
